Essential Questions: Chapter 3 Respond to each of the following. Your responses must be
written in complete sentences and should demonstrate an understanding of the course content.
1.Why do historians refer to the Late Bronze Age in the Middle East as a cosmopolitan era?
Historians refer to the Late Bronze Age in the Middle East as the cosmopolitan era because
during this time there was a wide variety of shared cultures and shared lifestyles. During this
time elite groups shared similar values and had set their standard for living relatively high. Elites
were not only the people that had a higher status of living, the peasants had also had their
standards rise as well. 2.How did the Assyrians and Hittites change the political landscape of
Western Asia? The Hittites had changed the political landscape of Western Asia as they had new
technology and were able to create tools and weapons forged with iron. These economic advances
had led the Hittites to change the political landscape of Western Asia in a geopolitical sphere. The
Assyrians had changed the political landscape of Western Asia through conquest and expansion on
economic interests. 3.What impact did Hittite expansion have on the culture of the Hittites? The

Importance Of Drinking Water Essay
Rural India has more than 700 million people residing in about 1.42 million habitations spread
over 15 diverse ecological regions. Meeting the drinking water needs of such a large population
can be a daunting task. The non uniformity in level of awareness, socio economic development,
education, poverty, practices and rituals and water availability add to the complexity of the task.
Despite an estimated total of Rs. 1,105 billion spent on providing safe drinking watersince the First
Five Year Plan was launched in 1951, lack of safe and clean drinking water continues to be a major
obstacle and a national economic burden.
Around 37.7 million Indians are affected by waterborne diseases annually; 1.5 million children are
estimated to die of diarrhoea alone in each year.
In our constitution the provision of safe drinking water has been given utmost priority, with Article
47 conferring the duty of providing clean drinking water and improving public health standards to
the State. The government has undertaken various programmes and policies since independence to
provide safe drinking water to the rural population. Till the 10th plan, an estimated total of
Rs.1,105 billion spent on providing secure drinking water. One would argue that the expenditure is
huge but it is also true that despite such expenditure lack of safe and secure drinking water
continues to be a major issue and challenge for our country.
On one hand the pressures of development is changing the distribution of

Literary Analysis Of The House Of Mirth
House of Mirth is a novel that revolves on Lily Bart trying to find a husband in order to have a
successful life and gives a glimpse to upper class society in the late 1800s and early 1900s. For the
first passage, Selden ponders on Lily Bart. For the second passage, Lily talks to Gerty about her
true intentions of marriagewhen Lily is distressed about her current state and the choices she has
made.
Through a close reading of the two passages, the diction, grammatical elements, and poetic devices
utilized in these passages help unearth the hidden messages of those passages. For the first passage,
through diction, the passage sheds new light. The words no less conscious convey that Selden
was not less aware about what people talked about Lily after getting to know Lily better through
their talks at his flat and Bellomont. The words the woman he knew indicate the version of Lily
which Selden has seen a glimpse of, which is Lily s true self. The vulgar estimate of her
indicates the version of Lily that most of her friends perceive. However, they fail to perceive Lily
s true self, since Lily attempts a façade in public. Another phrase is ... wisdom of the world
seemed a groping thing... The words wisdom of the world refers to the righteous judgment of
society. The act of groping in this context signifies to search with uncertainty according to the
Merriam Webster dictionary. The words Selden was in impassioned self absorption indicate Selden

Mountain Man Brewing Company
Mountain Man Brewing Company| To:| Chris Prangel| From:| 001706975| CC:| David Nasser|
Date:| 3/4/2013| Re:| Bringing the Brand to Light| Comments:| For the first time in the company s
history, Mountain Man Brewing Company is experiencing declining sales in response to changes
in beer drinkers preferences. Mr. Prangel s response to this problem is introducing a light beerform
of the popular Lager. In the past six years, the light beer industry as increased at an annual rate of
4% while sales of traditional beer has been declining annually by 4%. Although this seems like a
probable solution, there are two major problems Mr. Prangel is facing: 1.) Mountain Man s current
target market will not approve of this new... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
BREAK EVEN AND BREAK EVEN IN MARKET SHARE IN 2 YEARSBy keeping the same
price for light as the lager, breakeven in dollar amount is almost $10,000,000 which then
translates into 100,473 barrels. Within two years, Mountain Man Light will have to produce
almost $10,000,000 in sales and sale 20% of what Mountain Man Lager has worked almost a
century to sale. As for the market share, Mountain Man Light will need to gain a 26% of the
market share in 2 years to break even. This seems very unrealistic since the leading brand light
beer now consumers 32.9% and the second leading brand holds 17.8% of the market. Mountain
Man Light will have to become the second leading brand in the market within only 2 years
(assuming that the sales of light beer continue to grow annually by 4%). CANNIBALIZATION
RATEBecause Mountain Man Lager produces so many units and produces such high sales already,
the difference in cannibalization of 5% to 20% is pretty significant (almost 1,000,000). Two year
contribution with a 5% cannibalization rate is $32,895,226.42 compared to $31,988,859.59 with a
20% cannibalization rate. This is a major loss in sales of the Mountain Man Lager. If
cannibalization is inevitable, the lower percentage of cannibalization is the best option, it yields a
higher contribution. Anything above 20% is unnecessary and definitely not worth introducing the

Meaning Of Sports Michael Mandelbaum Summary

Rondo s shot was the play that forced game 7 and kept the Bull s season alive. The 2009 first

the best playoff series I ever watched. What does Rose s late game heroics have to do with
anything? The excitement of the sport of basketball. My paper will be about my favorite sport to

For starters, Mandelbaum is very long winded his chapters go on forever. There are certain ideas
that he can convey in 5 pages but instead, he chooses to do so in 15 pages. His writing style is so
plain that it makes following the chapters that much harder. The information that Mandelbaum
presents about in relation to the sports of baseball, football and basketball are good I just wish his
chapters were shorter. Information can get lost quickly if there are 80 pages of information to read
about one sport. Aside from that, I learned a lot from his chapter about basketball. In chronological
order, Mandelbaum writes how the game of basketball shifted from a sport that was primarily white
to primarily African American. The first African American player to enter the NBA was in 1950.
By the 1980s four out of every five starting players in the league were black. Mandelbaum makes
the argument that African Americans were needed in the league or else the game would not
have been as developed as it is now. The game as it developed would have been far poorer in
every way without them (Mandelbaum,248). The same time that the professional game was
developing so too was the street game. In chapter 4 I learned about the winner take all market.
According to investopedia.com, this is a concept in which the best performers are able to capture
a very large share of the rewards, and the remaining competitors are left with very little. The
chances of most African American making it to the NBA is very slim, according to the book
chances are 135,800 to

The Conspiracy Theories Of The United States
What if what you had been told your whole life was a lie? How would you feel if everything
reported about a terrorist attack or a shooting was actually a conspiracy by the United States?
What is a conspiracy? According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, a conspiracy is a secret
plan made by two or more people that is harmful or illegal . There are so many conspiracy
theories out there in the world starting as early as the 1800s. These theories range from scientific,
terrorist, criminal, political, economic and business, and even religious conspiracies. The two
conspiracy theories that I am talking about is the attack that changed the United States, as we
knew it, the one that we believed was a terrorist attack, also known as 9/11, and the Sandy Hook
shooting. There are multiple reasons that lead me to consider these two attacks to be something
more than a terrorist and criminal attack. The reasons are because the timelines do not add up, there
are too many inconsistencies, and the benefits are too great.
The attack on American soil on September 11, 2001 is one conspiracy theory to consider. The
timelines given to the American people concerning the 9/11 attack do not make sense. At

How Mentoring Is Beneficial For The Workplace As Well As A...
Mentoring is a strategy that is beneficial to increased productivity in the workplace as well as a
fulfilling love for one s career. Mentoring can take place at many levels. It can occur at an
education level or as we enter into prospective careers. Those who miss out on the opportunity to
be mentored, have a lower chance to perform at high levels or receive positions that are more
successful. Mentors and protГ©gГ© s work on challenging tasks and activities together, in an
effort to enhance the skills of the protГ©gГ©. The earlier a protГ©gГ© is taken under the wing of
a mentor proves extremely beneficial.
As we have learned white males are the majority opposed to women, ethnic women, and minorities.
The means that the chances of the mentor being a white male is extremely high, whereas the
protГ©gГ©s are likely to be any form of minority. It is often challenging to minorities (especially
women). Although, mentoring relationships are thought to be best between those who have
similarities (educational background, gender, race), it is beneficial for diverse teams to come
together sharing cultural differences, views and mindsets. Diversity actually brings forth a great
deal of benefits for shaping and building the relationships in mentoring teams. The bible shares with
us in the bible that one generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your
mighty acts (Psalms 145:4, English Standard Version). We are destined to lead others and teach

Misogynistic Greek Culture
Moreover, the misogynistic Greek culture exemplified significant inferiority complexes towards the
ties between women and nature. Women within Greek culture were significantly looked down
upon. Their purpose was to serve as child bearers and even then that power is taken away from
them in certain points of Greek mythology. For instance, when Zeusis trying to protect his son
from Hera, he sows him into his leg and then essentially gives birth to him in four years time. In
many cases it is shown how threatened the Greek men are by females; to the point that they either
blame them for their misfortunes by portraying them as the mistake or fail to deliberate on the
female goddesses, as it is in the case of Pandora and Athena. Then the... Show more content on

It also shows how they blame women yet again for their misfortunes, similarly to the Greeks
with their first human woman, Pandora. In the Japanese creation myth the first primal woman,
Izanami, is blamed for having a deformed child since she was the one who spoke first after the
marriage ceremony. However, when the marital ritual is performed again and the man, Izanagi,
speaks first afterwards everything is fine and Izanami was able to have healthy children. This
scapegoat of a reason is to blame women for a deformed child because she spoke first is
preposterous and speaks volumes at the obvious gender inequalities between Japanese men and
women. Then its presence becomes known again when Izanagi goes to retrieve his wife from
the underworld and when he sees that his beautiful wife is a rotting corpse, he runs away and
leaves her. This reiterates a particular notion that a woman without beauty completely loses her
value. Once a woman is no longer of sexual benefit to a man, she becomes a putrid stain upon the
world and in mythology is portrayed as such in villainous ways. For instance, when Izanami sees
her lover leave her, she becomes enraged and sends evil hags to pursue him and Izanami herself
transforms into a full fledged demon . (Japan 114). Yet again, the Japanese creation myth expresses
a deep schism between how a man can

The Trauma of Killing Essay
The United States military continues to engage in one of the longest periods of combat operations
in our nation s history. One of the results is an increase in the amount of persons suffering Post
traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). According to the American Psychiatric Association (APA)
(2000), a precursor to PTSD is the experience of an event or events that involved actual or
threatened death or serious injury to self or others. Grossman (2009) argues that an additional
factor, the emotional and spiritual response to killing another humanbeing, also takes a tremendous
toll on the mental health of returning soldiers. Forty eight to sixty five percent of soldiers returning
from Operation Enduring Freedom have reported killing an enemy... Show more content on

In addition to their role as the official motto of the United States Military Academy at West Point,
the words Duty, Honor, (and) Country serve to embody the conditioning that each recruit, both
officer and enlisted, undergoes in all military branches. Each soldier is taught that they have an
absolute responsibility to their fellow soldiers and the country they serve and to fail to uphold
that responsibility can never be justified. This fear of failure, writes Grossman (2009) is one of
the primary means the military uses to overcome soldier s innate aversion to killing other human
beings. It is also the fear that allows soldier s to overcome the fear of death and take heroic
actions (Nash, 2007). When a soldier perceives he has failed to live up to these standards, shame
may result.
The Stages of Killing
Grossman (2009) writes that killing involves a series of emotions, beginning with concern
before the killing, and followed by exhilaration, remorse, rationalization, and acceptance
following the killing. Before a soldier kills for the first time, he or she will often have concerns
regarding whether he or she will satisfactorily perform his or her duties or will let down fellow
fighters by freezing or in some other fashion failing to properly engage the enemy. This fear of
failure is generally mixed with the general fear of being killed or injured and

Savannah throughout June and July 1840 was highly characterized by the economy, political life,
agriculture, and new advances in the practicing of medication. Not to say that only one product
play a role in the economy, but during this period, cotton was, figuratively, the ruler of Georgia. It
fueled the growth and expansion of the state s economy. However, with cotton being the most
desirable cash crop at the time, the lack of diversity in the economic lifeline did not help when
disaster struck and that was the only thing the city had to fall back on. The Great Flood had a

The cities of Macon and Savannah were good teammates in 1840. Cotton was shipped from Macon
and made its way along the Ocmulgee River using a steamboat to then take a small trip north in the
Ocean to Savannah s large port. With Savannah being the largest city in the state, the construction
of the Central of Georgia Railway was encouraged. This railway would connect the two cities,
Macon and Savannah, and greatly help to increase the speed of the transportation of cotton and
recourses from inland to sea. This would also put Savannah more on the map when discussing
important worldwide ports. One thing was made clear in the life of politics and that was that white
men wanted to keep the institution of slavery alive. Galvanizing the establishment of slavery was a
judicial system that deprived African Americans the same or any legal rights enjoyed by Caucasian
Americans. All of the northern states had outlawed slavery back in 1820, but the rise of cotton
made the enormous profits of the slave system irresistible to most white southerners. Relations
regarding were further reinforced by the universal racial bond among white Georgian men. Sharing
the intolerance that slaveholders held against African Americans, non slaveholding whites believed
that the abolition of slavery would annihilate their own economic prospects and bring devastation

Culture And Leadership Paper
Culture influences leadership in many ways, so it is helpful to first understand what culture is.
According to our text culture is defined as the learned beliefs, values, rules, norms, symbols, and
traditions that are common to a group of people (Northouse, 2016). Culture is the way of life,
customs, and script of a group of people. Different cultures have different ideas about what they
want from their leaders, but by understanding cultural differences leaders can become more
empathetic and accurate in their communicationwith others. It is clear that different culturegroups

By incorporating the principles of ethical leadership it provides the foundation for the
development of a ethical organization which will help with decision making. Ethical leaders need
to respect others, service others, show justice, manifest honesty, and builds the community. In an

development of ethical leadership. I believe we must start with the leaders in order to get others to
follow along with the right behavior. Mangers in an organization should also be required to attend
a program and training to become more ethically effective at work and in life and to help make
ethical decisions. Managers and leaders can benefit and use the information to have a better

The Mesopotamian Civilization
For 7000 years the sweltering sand of the Iraqi desert has held remnants of one the earliest known
civilization, the Mesopotamians. Since then, literary historians and scholars have uncovered myths
revealing an unforeseen buried past. These hallowed accounts have become the center focus of
explaining the early history of the Mesopotamian civilization, and the natural phenomenon s that
have existed. In particular, the Babylonian epic of creation, Enuma Elish, which served the purpose
of explaining the genesis of the universeand how people first came to inhabit it, reveals a
parallelism with the Greek s Theogony. The conquest of Mesopotamiaby the Greeks in the year 331
126 BC can be theorized as one of the potentiality for the Mesopotamian influence on the Greek s
Theogony. The influence of the Mesopotamian tradition is seen in the Greek s account of the
creation myth through parallel concepts. Although Enuma Elish and Theogony have a unique
account of how the world began, and how people first came to inhabit it, they are both analogous in
the sense that these creation myths are based on the foundation of: a successive motif whereby the
newer gods overthrow the older, the rise of an ambitious hero, and an imperfect creation.
In Theogony, and analogous to Enuma Elish, there exists a sequential motif whereby the newer
gods overthrow the older.
The rise of the hero Marduk became one of the most important conceptions in explaining the
creation of the universe and the

The Mayan Civilization Essay
The Maya civilization was a unique development in history that challenges the common perspective
of humanity and society. It s very classification as a civilization may confuse those who think of a
civilization as a cohesive empire because it was quite fragmentary instead. An isolate built upon the
tribal cultures of Central and South America, the Maya culture operated on a different
understanding of reality and the world than did the Eurasian communities that intermingled and
possessed knowledge of each other. One must take this into account in order to understand the

The Search for Truth in Plato s Allegory of the Cave and Anderson s Winesburg, Ohio
The novel Winesburg, Ohio by Sherwood Anderson has many themes that present themselves
throughout the book. One such recurring theme is a search for truth. The characters in the book do
not fully realize that they are searching for truth, but they do feel a vague, indescribable thing that
pushes and prods their minds to actualize a higher plane of thought. This search for a higher plane
by the characters of Winesburg nearly parallels another literary work of ancient Greek origin Plato

Life for the prisoners goes on this way without occurrence until one of them is freed, led up
outside the cave, and shown the real world. The freed person will realize that the truth of the
shadowed reality is actually a falsehood. After this realization the person who visited the upper
world is returned to imprisonment in the cave. Her eyes have to adjust to the darkness of the cave
once again. However, this adjustment naturally takes a long time. As a result, the once free person
can no longer see the shadows as well as she did before her release into the upper world. To the
people who have remained in the cave, it seems as though going into the upper world has
destroyed her faculty for seeing reality. Some of the captives then say that trying to reach the outer
world is harmful, and that anyone caught trying to loose themselves or another person for the
purpose of reaching the outside will be punished. Plato says that the cave symbolizes the world of
sight and the outside represents the world of knowledge. Plato also instructs people to interpret the
journey upwards to be the ascent of the soul into the intellectual world. Plato s belief is that in the
world of knowledge the idea of good appears, and that humans should strive to reach this goodness
through philosophical thought.

flash floods, strong winds, and hail. The tornado funnel developed directly over the city, descended,
and stayed on the ground for at least 15 min (Brewster, 2004). The path of the tornado was recorded
and after examining the damage it was determined the tornado began its damage in the municipality
of River Oaks where damage had been done to homes and Castleberry High School. The tornado
continued its path crossing the Trinity River where it then took a turn at the intersection of West

continued its path toward downtown leaving destruction to the Cash America building, the Bank

Another thunderstorm system began to arise in Johnson county and made its way northeast ward to

The Importance Of Innate Ideas In John LockeBy David Locke
Another problem with Locke s insistence that innate ideas do not exist, is that necessary truths,
that is, contingent propositions (2+2=4), cannot be acquired through experience alone. If
necessary truths exist, that would at least infer that innate ideas exist and are merely revealed
through experience for necessary truths are a priori, which implies that innate knowledge exists
as a disposition. Beyond this, there is the possibility that we can form an idea without a
corresponding sensory impression. While not without its flaws, the argument that one can
generate an idea without first being exposed to the relevant sensory experience is illustrated in
Hume s missing shade of blue example. Locke claims that in order for an idea to be in the mind,
we must be conscious of it, which indicates that there is not much leeway allowed for memory,
that is, a power of the mind to revive perceptions it once had. The question then, is whether we
can know things without being conscious of them. It seems as though it is possible, but it is
important to note that regardless if we can or not, what is unconscious must have once been
conscious. For this reason, a potential response Locke would give to Hume with reference to the
missing shade of blue, is that even if one is able to fill it in, they would still be using their senses
in some way to access that knowledge and perhaps it would be knowledge made out of a long train
of proofs, which highlights the mental fatigue factor in play.
With regards to Locke s theory of knowledge, he holds that knowledge is divided into three types:
intuitive knowledge (knowledge the mind can attain without the need for recognizing something
else), demonstrative knowledge (a kind of knowledge cannot occur without the help of previous
information), and sensation knowledge (knowledge that results from empirical knowledge of the
known object). As such, it follows that our knowledge of our own existence is intuitive, our
knowledge of God s existence is demonstrative, and our knowledge of things present to sense is
sensitive. Locke believes that intuitive knowledge is real knowledge and the most important
degree of knowledge wherein there is no need for inference as the Mind is at no

Epidermolysis Bullosa Research Paper
There are four main types of Epidermolysis Bullosa, all can be fatal and they affect infants and
children. Each case is different but all of them are extremely painful. Each one ranges from a form
of a mild case to severe case and sometimes even death. The four types of Epidermolysis Bullosa

Some of the more severe symptoms include loss of the teeth due to blistering on the inside of the
mouth which effect the tongue cheeks and gums. Some people have internal blistering which

and also causes death by suffocation due to the blisters and sores in the throat and airways.
Most doctors can tell when a child is born with Epidermolysis Bullosa just by looking at them but
still need to preform tests to make a positive diagnosis. Some of the test may include biopsy of the
skin in which the doctor takes a piece of infected tissue to determine exactly what type of

Immigrant In Potato Pancakes By Erich Maria Remarque
From a civilian s perspective, a soldier risking their life in war to protect their country is viewed as
heroic, honorable, and fearless. However, what most fail to realize is that soldiers risk more than
only their lives, but as well as their childhood, future, and most importantly their innocence. These
devastating losses ultimately result in society alienating veterans out of pure ignorance. The drastic
transformation that soldiers undergo often causes them to become outsiders in their own home. As
a response, some veterans attempt to aid civilians in grasping the effects of war through poetry, art,
and literature. Even though truly understanding the brutal nature of war is impossible without
experiencing it, veterans, such as the author... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Currently, Paul is barely able to connect with his childhood, thus he has not completely turned
into a stranger to society. However, once Remarque establishes the potato pancakes original
meaning, he quickly abandons it as Paul finally rejects his mother s last effort to reestablish
their relationship. Paul is again given potato pancakes by his mother, despite his family
struggling to pay for his mother s cancer treatments, but then develops no taste for them ,
prompting him to give them to the Russians (Remarque 198). Although he realizes that [his]
mother cooked them herself and that she was probably in pain as she stood before the hot stove
, he still proceeds to give away two cakes to the Russians (198). This pivotal moment involves
once again the mother s suffering for her son, but as well as his sentiment towards her effort.
The fact that he gives this symbol of family sacrifice away to his enemies, who are complete
strangers, reveals how his past is as unfamiliar to him as a stranger is. Overall, this last refusal
represents how war causes him to completely disconnect from his family, childhood, and society in
general. Once Paul is forced to

tickets to someone. I don t remember much of what he did, but I know he gave each of us
necklaces with cards on them. He let us pass. It was fairly warm. The air smelled fresh. I also

Tips For A New Puppy Or Dog Home
When you bring a new puppy or dog home and you plan on keeping it inside most of the time
you are going to have to puppy proof your home. Otherwise you may return to a disaster after
being gone for work or a night out. Here are some tips to help. Before you bring your dog home
remove anything at ground level you want to keep. This can include shoes, game controllers, lamp
cords or anything that is below a 4 foot level. The reason for this is because your dogwill think that
anything in its reach is a toy, worth eating or chewing up into shreds. Any paper, magazines,
clothes or other normal objects that people have in their home should be put up on a shelf or
placed inside a closed closet. There is no getting around this because if you leave your dog
unattended inside your home it will surely get separation anxiety and start to chew, tear or shred
anything in its reach. Make sure that lower level cabinets have child proof latches on them and
never leave cabinets that contain cleaning solutions or furniture wax open after each use. Even
if you plan on leaving your dog outside when you leave you will still have to keep an eye on it
when you are home. Make sure that you reward good behavior with a treat or lots of loving
attention and bad behavior with a stern NO . You shouldn t beat or injure your pet but a medium
swat on the rump or nose with a loosely rolled paper will help in getting the dogs attention. If you
find yourself in a situation where the dog has destroyed

Further thought and analysis leads one to believe that the benefits of a merger would far
outweigh the drawbacks such as less confusing regulations and better complaint/conflict
resolution processes. Such a move will also allow for more efficient operations with major
companies that currently have to deal with both the MFDA and the IIROC separately. For
example, where currently a company will have two separate departments dealing with both
agencies separately, in an environment where there is one merged agency there will only be a
need for one department. This is actually the case as the MFDA manages 139 firms, but 33 are
also supervised by IIROC because they trade both mutual funds and normal brokerage operations.
Simpler regulations will possibly see an increase in mutual fund investment if investors see the ease
of use factor involved.

The mockingbird sings is another poem where symbolism is utilized (pg. VI). A mockingbird is
an individual who is presented as an innocent person by the narrator. Despite doing or saying
what is right for his lover and himself, the information he tries delivering to his lover remains
unclear. He ends up repeating the same actions and says to please his lover. The narrator refers to
him as silly and egotistical and that the song he sings is only clear to him and not to others about
the direction of the message conveyed in the song. He ends up failing and probably suffers out of
unclear intentions. The connection of the poem to the title of the book is that the innocent person
in the poem is nature which tries to please humans but all in vain.
The other section where symbolism is evident is Small Porch in the Woods. It is divided into
several poems. In the first one, there is the mention of unshifting star which represents a change that
is undisturbed. It is the turning point of the society. Despite the challenges communities face in
their life, their ambition leads them towards achieving their objectives in life. The second poem
under this section is about a heavy rain that fell in the month of April. Heavy rain is the
representation of unhappy moments. The description presented by the narrator shows that it is a
sad moment where everything is carried away. Throughout the poem, the rain is seen, as a lesson

Essay on Why William Won the Battle of Hastings
Why William Won the Battle of Hastings
The Battle of Hastings in 1066 saw Harold the king of England defeated by William, Duke of
Normandy. It was a great victory for William, he became King of England and was called William
the Conqueror. There were many reasons for William s victory such as religious support, a well
prepared army, weather, more effective weapons and most importantly superior tactics. Another
important factor, which occurs in most battles in history, is that of luck. Throughout the battle it
seemed that William was more fortunate than Harold. As much as William earned victory, Harold
made some bad judgments and serious tactical mistakes.

This meant they were organized and knew what to do when the time came to set sail for
England. Everything was perfect for William except for the strong winds from the north meant
it was not possible for his fleet to cross the Channel. He and his men were so desperate that they
even prayed for a south wind. God or luck was on their side as after a thunderstorm the winds
changed to a more favourable southerly direction and they seized the opportunity and set sail.
Whilst sailing to England William s fleet got caught in a storm and they had to stop at the
Somme estuary. This should have a disaster for William but luck was on his side, as this way the
crossing to England was shorter and when he was finally able to cross, Harold was in the north of
England.
William s landing was well planned and helped by intelligence gathered in the previous months by
Normans living in England. He had studied Caesar s invasion in 55 BC and was not going to
make the same mistakes that he did. For example Caesar did not take the weather over the Channel
into consideration and beached his boats in the wrong place, getting them damaged. Williams s
decision to land at Pevensey, a lagoon west of Hastings with very few people there, was important.
The lagoon provided shelter from the weather and when the

A Comparison Of Shooting An Elephant And Two Fisherman
The situations and the choices of the two men in the story Shooting An Elephant by George Orwell
and Two Fisherman by Morley Callaghan effects their choices that they have on their self
perception. A common similarity can define a man s choice. Both stories confront difficult choices
and their responses to their dilemma. To summarize the theme for both these stories can be that the
need for acceptance in society can prevent an individual from doing the right thing. This theme
relates to both stories because in Shooting An Elephant, Orwell compares the narrator as the
character who is trying to prevent from shooing the elephant while in Two Fisherman, Callaghan

Essay about International Relations
International Relations
As I look back on high school, I remember walking through the hallways and seeing people and
groups of all kinds. The hallways were lined, side to side, with different groups of different
people with different ideas and opinions. I, myself, was part of a clique also. However, my clique
inter mingled with other cliques as we exchanged our ideas, opinions, and experiences. There were
some other cliques that did the same as they did not isolate themselves from the rest of high school
life. However, there were also the other kinds of groups which committed themselves to that group,
and they did isolate themselves from everyone else.
Now, let s take these cliques and turn them into full scale nations. The high... Show more content

This isolation from the rest of the world instills a sense of security within the people and within the
government. They do not have to trust any other nations, nor do they have to rely on any other
nations for anything. Basically, they decide that it would be best for them to work out political
situations by themselves instead of looking to a foreign government as a model to deal with the
situation.
However, this also shows one of the weaknesses of localization. If a nation isolates itself politically
from the rest of the nation, then there is a good chance that they will fall behind with the times;
thus, they may lose face when it comes to their status on the world stage.
Economically, globalization supports the expansion of trade, production, and investments to
markets outside their own. This expansion is apparent when we look at the formation of such
institutions as the European single market, the North American free trade area, the newly emerging
Asian groupings, and the long overdue formation of the World Trade Organization. These
institutions have allowed nations (that accept globalization) to experiment with several different
markets in order to achieve economic gain.
Large corporations now participate in foreign markets instead of remaining within a domestic
market. They know that people are fascinated by the cultures of other races, and they implement
facilities into other nations. For instance, James Rosenau

servers/origins). It may happen that some categories are more complex than other such as News .
Out of hundred 60% of Web sites fetched content from minimum five non origin sources, and these
give more than 35% of the bytes downloaded. In addition, they examine which metrics are most
suitable for predicting page render and load times and catch that the number of objects requested is
the most important factor. With respect to variability in load times, however, they alsofind number
of servers is the best indicator. Two techniques Correlation and Regression are used For Correlation

Psycho Analysis
The movie Psycho was filmed in 1960 by Alfred Hitchcock. The movie focuses on a woman
named Marion Crane. It starts when she steal 40,000 dollars from her boss to run away with her
boyfriend. It s late and she decides to check into a motel, the Bates Motel. At the motel, she
encounters a middle aged man named Norman Bates. He becomes morbidly obsessed with her. But
he then kills her...dressed as his dead mom. There is a show that acts as a prequel to Hitchcock s
masterpiece; Bates Motel. It is focused on Norman Bates and his mother, Norma Bates whereas
the movie is focused on Marion Craine. Bates Motel is a very well written show, with great
acting, and is filled with a ton of textbook psychology. There are very many different subplots in
the show, but this paper is strictly going to analyze Norman and his relationship with his mother. It
goes very in depth about the very troubling relationship between a son and mother, and how it led
to Norman developing a dangerous persona of his mom. You could even say that Norman has an
Oedipus conflict. An Oedipus conflict is apart of one of the psychosexual stages thought of by
Sigmund Freud. He believed that during the age of 3 6, a child developed feelings for the parent
of the opposite sex. And the only way to get over that feeling was to identify with his father. His
Oedipus conflict would go on to never be resolved because his father was abusive. The series
starts off after Norman hits his father in the head with a blender, killing him. His mom covers it
up and makes it look like an accident to protect Norman. His father had been very abusive to him
and his mother. Child abuse is said to be one of the most common causes of many mental
illnesses. In this case, the abuse caused him to dissociate, or go off into his own little world where
he felt safe in. It was very traumatic for a young Norman and his mother. People who tend to
experience very traumatic things together have a stronger bond than those who don t. Norman and
his mother are so codependent on each other that it s toxic.
It is very apparent that Norman has a Dissociative Identity Disorder, also known as Multiple
Personality Disorder. DID is when more than one different, distinct personalities take

Wealth Is The Strongest Determinant Of Health
Wealth is the strongest determinant of health in The United States of America as well as in other
thriving nations, however the relationship between wealth and health is on the rise in the United
States. A high socioeconomic, which is associated with wealth, is linked to a number of benefits
that are profoundly connected with health outcomes. These benefits include higher level education,
employment, environment, food, and health care. Although many of the factors contribute to
health status differences, access to health insurance and health care services could help to
reduce disparities. While lower family income generally means a lower probability of having
employer based insurance, African Americans were less likely to have job based insurance at all
income levels compared to their white counterparts for many years (UCLA, 2000), prior to
Obama care. Even African Americans who receive similar education to Whites, are more likely to
live in poverty compared to a their white counterparts Black patients compared to any other lower
socioeconomic position are least likely to receive medical services. In general, African Americans
are deemed to have a poorer health status, in comparison to their white counterparts, which is
primarily attributable to poverty and deprived communities. African Americans are more likely to
consume unhealthy high caloric foods, due to the fact that unhealthy foods are cheaper and easier
to get than nutritious, low calorie foods (Blake, J Mundoz,

Alan Turing Can Machine Think
Benjamin Dahl Can Machines Think? Alan Turing s simple explanation of the imitation game is as
follows: the game consists of three participants. Participant A is a man, participant B is a woman,
and participant C is the interrogator (can be a man or woman). In the Imitation Game, participant C
is placed in a different room from participant A and B (they are represented as X and Y). The
interrigator can communicate with them via written notes. By asking questions of participant A
and participant B, the interrigator tries to determine which of the two is the man and which is the
woman. Participant A s role is to trick the interrogator into making the wrong decision, while
participant B attempts to assist the interrogator in making the right

  • 3. Importance Of Drinking Water Essay Rural India has more than 700 million people residing in about 1.42 million habitations spread over 15 diverse ecological regions. Meeting the drinking water needs of such a large population can be a daunting task. The non uniformity in level of awareness, socio economic development, education, poverty, practices and rituals and water availability add to the complexity of the task. Despite an estimated total of Rs. 1,105 billion spent on providing safe drinking watersince the First Five Year Plan was launched in 1951, lack of safe and clean drinking water continues to be a major obstacle and a national economic burden. Around 37.7 million Indians are affected by waterborne diseases annually; 1.5 million children are estimated to die of diarrhoea alone in each year. In our constitution the provision of safe drinking water has been given utmost priority, with Article 47 conferring the duty of providing clean drinking water and improving public health standards to the State. The government has undertaken various programmes and policies since independence to provide safe drinking water to the rural population. Till the 10th plan, an estimated total of Rs.1,105 billion spent on providing secure drinking water. One would argue that the expenditure is huge but it is also true that despite such expenditure lack of safe and secure drinking water continues to be a major issue and challenge for our country. • 4. Literary Analysis Of The House Of Mirth House of Mirth is a novel that revolves on Lily Bart trying to find a husband in order to have a successful life and gives a glimpse to upper class society in the late 1800s and early 1900s. For the first passage, Selden ponders on Lily Bart. For the second passage, Lily talks to Gerty about her true intentions of marriagewhen Lily is distressed about her current state and the choices she has made. Through a close reading of the two passages, the diction, grammatical elements, and poetic devices utilized in these passages help unearth the hidden messages of those passages. For the first passage, through diction, the passage sheds new light. The words no less conscious convey that Selden was not less aware about what people talked about Lily after getting to know Lily better through their talks at his flat and Bellomont. The words the woman he knew indicate the version of Lily which Selden has seen a glimpse of, which is Lily s true self. The vulgar estimate of her indicates the version of Lily that most of her friends perceive. However, they fail to perceive Lily s true self, since Lily attempts a faГ§ade in public. Another phrase is ... wisdom of the world seemed a groping thing... The words wisdom of the world refers to the righteous judgment of society. The act of groping in this context signifies to search with uncertainty according to the Merriam Webster dictionary. Mountain Man Brewing Company Mountain Man Brewing Company| To:| Chris Prangel| From:| 001706975| CC:| David Nasser| Date:| 3/4/2013| Re:| Bringing the Brand to Light| Comments:| For the first time in the company s history, Mountain Man Brewing Company is experiencing declining sales in response to changes in beer drinkers preferences. Mr. Prangel s response to this problem is introducing a light beerform of the popular Lager. In the past six years, the light beer industry as increased at an annual rate of 4% while sales of traditional beer has been declining annually by 4%. Although this seems like a probable solution, there are two major problems Mr. Prangel is facing: 1.) Mountain Man s current target market will not approve of this new... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... BREAK EVEN AND BREAK EVEN IN MARKET SHARE IN 2 YEARSBy keeping the same price for light as the lager, breakeven in dollar amount is almost $10,000,000 which then translates into 100,473 barrels. Within two years, Mountain Man Light will have to produce almost $10,000,000 in sales and sale 20% of what Mountain Man Lager has worked almost a century to sale. As for the market share, Mountain Man Light will need to gain a 26% of the market share in 2 years to break even. This seems very unrealistic since the leading brand light beer now consumers 32.9% and the second leading brand holds 17.8% of the market. Mountain Man Light will have to become the second leading brand in the market within only 2 years (assuming that the sales of light beer continue to grow annually by 4%). CANNIBALIZATION RATEBecause Mountain Man Lager produces so many units and produces such high sales already, the difference in cannibalization of 5% to 20% is pretty significant (almost 1,000,000). Two year contribution with a 5% cannibalization rate is $32,895,226.42 compared to $31,988,859.59 with a 20% cannibalization rate. This is a major loss in sales of the Mountain Man Lager. If cannibalization is inevitable, the lower percentage of cannibalization is the best option, it yields a higher contribution. Anything above 20% is unnecessary and definitely not worth introducing the Mountain Man ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Derrick Rose s block on Rajon Rondo s shot was the play that forced game 7 and kept the Bull s season alive. What does Rose s late game heroics have to do with anything? The excitement of the sport of basketball. The information that Mandelbaum presents about in relation to the sports of baseball, football and basketball are good I just wish his chapters were shorter. Information can get lost quickly if there are 80 pages of information to read about one sport. Aside from that, I learned a lot from his chapter about basketball. In chronological order, Mandelbaum writes how the game of basketball shifted from a sport that was primarily white to primarily African American. The first African American player to enter the NBA was in 1950. By the 1980s four out of every five starting players in the league were black. Mandelbaum makes the argument that African Americans were needed in the league or else the game would not have been as developed as it is now. The game as it developed would have been far poorer in every way without them (Mandelbaum,248). The same time that the professional game was developing so too was the street game. In chapter 4 I learned about the winner take all market. According to investopedia.com, this is a concept in which the best performers are able to capture a very large share of the rewards, and the remaining competitors are left with very little. How would you feel if everything reported about a terrorist attack or a shooting was actually a conspiracy by the United States? What is a conspiracy? According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, a conspiracy is a secret plan made by two or more people that is harmful or illegal . There are so many conspiracy theories out there in the world starting as early as the 1800s. These theories range from scientific, terrorist, criminal, political, economic and business, and even religious conspiracies. The two conspiracy theories that I am talking about is the attack that changed the United States, as we knew it, the one that we believed was a terrorist attack, also known as 9/11, and the Sandy Hook shooting. There are multiple reasons that lead me to consider these two attacks to be something more than a terrorist and criminal attack. The reasons are because the timelines do not add up, there are too many inconsistencies, and the benefits are too great. The attack on American soil on September 11, 2001 is one conspiracy theory to consider. The timelines given to the American people concerning the 9/11 attack do not make sense. At approximately 8:46 am the American Airlines Flight 11 heading to Los Angeles crashes into the North Tower of the World Trade Center , and at 9:03 am the United Airlines Flight 175 strikes the South Tower of the World Trade Center. • 11. How Mentoring Is Beneficial For The Workplace As Well As A... Mentoring is a strategy that is beneficial to increased productivity in the workplace as well as a fulfilling love for one s career. Mentoring can take place at many levels. It can occur at an education level or as we enter into prospective careers. Those who miss out on the opportunity to be mentored, have a lower chance to perform at high levels or receive positions that are more successful. Mentors and protГ©gГ© s work on challenging tasks and activities together, in an effort to enhance the skills of the protГ©gГ©. The earlier a protГ©gГ© is taken under the wing of a mentor proves extremely beneficial. As we have learned white males are the majority opposed to women, ethnic women, and minorities. The means that the chances of the mentor being a white male is extremely high, whereas the protГ©gГ©s are likely to be any form of minority. It is often challenging to minorities (especially women). Although, mentoring relationships are thought to be best between those who have similarities (educational background, gender, race), it is beneficial for diverse teams to come together sharing cultural differences, views and mindsets. Diversity actually brings forth a great deal of benefits for shaping and building the relationships in mentoring teams. • 12. Misogynistic Greek Culture Moreover, the misogynistic Greek culture exemplified significant inferiority complexes towards the ties between women and nature. Women within Greek culture were significantly looked down upon. Their purpose was to serve as child bearers and even then that power is taken away from them in certain points of Greek mythology. For instance, when Zeusis trying to protect his son from Hera, he sows him into his leg and then essentially gives birth to him in four years time. In many cases it is shown how threatened the Greek men are by females; to the point that they either blame them for their misfortunes by portraying them as the mistake or fail to deliberate on the female goddesses, as it is in the case of Pandora and Athena. Then the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It also shows how they blame women yet again for their misfortunes, similarly to the Greeks with their first human woman, Pandora. In the Japanese creation myth the first primal woman, Izanami, is blamed for having a deformed child since she was the one who spoke first after the marriage ceremony. However, when the marital ritual is performed again and the man, Izanagi, speaks first afterwards everything is fine and Izanami was able to have healthy children. This scapegoat of a reason is to blame women for a deformed child because she spoke first is preposterous and speaks volumes at the obvious gender inequalities between Japanese men and women. Then its presence becomes known again when Izanagi goes to retrieve his wife from the underworld and when he sees that his beautiful wife is a rotting corpse, he runs away and leaves her. This reiterates a particular notion that a woman without beauty completely loses her value. Once a woman is no longer of sexual benefit to a man, she becomes a putrid stain upon the world and in mythology is portrayed as such in villainous ways. For instance, when Izanami sees her lover leave her, she becomes enraged and sends evil hags to pursue him and Izanami herself transforms into a full fledged demon . (Japan 114). One of the results is an increase in the amount of persons suffering Post traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). According to the American Psychiatric Association (APA) (2000), a precursor to PTSD is the experience of an event or events that involved actual or threatened death or serious injury to self or others. Grossman (2009) argues that an additional factor, the emotional and spiritual response to killing another humanbeing, also takes a tremendous toll on the mental health of returning soldiers. In addition to their role as the official motto of the United States Military Academy at West Point, the words Duty, Honor, (and) Country serve to embody the conditioning that each recruit, both officer and enlisted, undergoes in all military branches. Each soldier is taught that they have an absolute responsibility to their fellow soldiers and the country they serve and to fail to uphold that responsibility can never be justified. This fear of failure, writes Grossman (2009) is one of the primary means the military uses to overcome soldier s innate aversion to killing other human beings. It is also the fear that allows soldier s to overcome the fear of death and take heroic actions (Nash, 2007). When a soldier perceives he has failed to live up to these standards, shame may result. The Stages of Killing Grossman (2009) writes that killing involves a series of emotions, beginning with concern before the killing, and followed by exhilaration, remorse, rationalization, and acceptance following the killing. Before a soldier kills for the first time, he or she will often have concerns regarding whether he or she will satisfactorily perform his or her duties or will let down fellow fighters by freezing or in some other fashion failing to properly engage the enemy. Not to say that only one product play a role in the economy, but during this period, cotton was, figuratively, the ruler of Georgia. It fueled the growth and expansion of the state s economy. However, with cotton being the most desirable cash crop at the time, the lack of diversity in the economic lifeline did not help when disaster struck and that was the only thing the city had to fall back on. This railway would connect the two cities, Macon and Savannah, and greatly help to increase the speed of the transportation of cotton and recourses from inland to sea. This would also put Savannah more on the map when discussing important worldwide ports. One thing was made clear in the life of politics and that was that white men wanted to keep the institution of slavery alive. Galvanizing the establishment of slavery was a judicial system that deprived African Americans the same or any legal rights enjoyed by Caucasian Americans. All of the northern states had outlawed slavery back in 1820, but the rise of cotton made the enormous profits of the slave system irresistible to most white southerners. • 16. The Mesopotamian Civilization For 7000 years the sweltering sand of the Iraqi desert has held remnants of one the earliest known civilization, the Mesopotamians. Since then, literary historians and scholars have uncovered myths revealing an unforeseen buried past. These hallowed accounts have become the center focus of explaining the early history of the Mesopotamian civilization, and the natural phenomenon s that have existed. In particular, the Babylonian epic of creation, Enuma Elish, which served the purpose of explaining the genesis of the universeand how people first came to inhabit it, reveals a parallelism with the Greek s Theogony. The conquest of Mesopotamiaby the Greeks in the year 331 126 BC can be theorized as one of the potentiality for the Mesopotamian influence on the Greek s Theogony. The influence of the Mesopotamian tradition is seen in the Greek s account of the creation myth through parallel concepts. Although Enuma Elish and Theogony have a unique account of how the world began, and how people first came to inhabit it, they are both analogous in the sense that these creation myths are based on the foundation of: a successive motif whereby the newer gods overthrow the older, the rise of an ambitious hero, and an imperfect creation. After shows are strikes, which meant taking apart the set and putting it away; this process generally too about a week. It was some of the most fun times though. • 18. The Mayan Civilization Essay The Maya civilization was a unique development in history that challenges the common perspective of humanity and society. It s very classification as a civilization may confuse those who think of a civilization as a cohesive empire because it was quite fragmentary instead. An isolate built upon the tribal cultures of Central and South America, the Maya culture operated on a different understanding of reality and the world than did the Eurasian communities that intermingled and possessed knowledge of each other. One must take this into account in order to understand the workings of the Maya. The Search for Truth in Plato s Allegory of the Cave and Anderson s Winesburg, Ohio The novel Winesburg, Ohio by Sherwood Anderson has many themes that present themselves throughout the book. One such recurring theme is a search for truth. The characters in the book do not fully realize that they are searching for truth, but they do feel a vague, indescribable thing that pushes and prods their minds to actualize a higher plane of thought. This search for a higher plane by the characters of Winesburg nearly parallels another literary work of ancient Greek origin Plato s Allegory of the Cave, which is a portion of his famous writing The Republic. Life for the prisoners goes on this way without occurrence until one of them is freed, led up outside the cave, and shown the real world. The freed person will realize that the truth of the shadowed reality is actually a falsehood. After this realization the person who visited the upper world is returned to imprisonment in the cave. Her eyes have to adjust to the darkness of the cave once again. However, this adjustment naturally takes a long time. As a result, the once free person can no longer see the shadows as well as she did before her release into the upper world. To the people who have remained in the cave, it seems as though going into the upper world has destroyed her faculty for seeing reality. Some of the captives then say that trying to reach the outer world is harmful, and that anyone caught trying to loose themselves or another person for the purpose of reaching the outside will be punished. Plato says that the cave symbolizes the world of sight and the outside represents the world of knowledge. Plato also instructs people to interpret the journey upwards to be the ascent of the soul into the intellectual world. Plato s belief is that in the world of knowledge the idea of good appears, and that humans should strive to reach this goodness through philosophical thought. • 21. The Importance Of Innate Ideas In John LockeBy David Locke Another problem with Locke s insistence that innate ideas do not exist, is that necessary truths, that is, contingent propositions (2+2=4), cannot be acquired through experience alone. If necessary truths exist, that would at least infer that innate ideas exist and are merely revealed through experience for necessary truths are a priori, which implies that innate knowledge exists as a disposition. Beyond this, there is the possibility that we can form an idea without a corresponding sensory impression. While not without its flaws, the argument that one can generate an idea without first being exposed to the relevant sensory experience is illustrated in Hume s missing shade of blue example. Locke claims that in order for an idea to be in the mind, we must be conscious of it, which indicates that there is not much leeway allowed for memory, that is, a power of the mind to revive perceptions it once had. The question then, is whether we can know things without being conscious of them. It seems as though it is possible, but it is important to note that regardless if we can or not, what is unconscious must have once been conscious. For this reason, a potential response Locke would give to Hume with reference to the missing shade of blue, is that even if one is able to fill it in, they would still be using their senses in some way to access that knowledge and perhaps it would be knowledge made out of a long train of proofs, which highlights the mental fatigue factor in play. With regards to Locke s theory of knowledge, he holds that knowledge is divided into three types: intuitive knowledge (knowledge the mind can attain without the need for recognizing something else), demonstrative knowledge (a kind of knowledge cannot occur without the help of previous information), and sensation knowledge (knowledge that results from empirical knowledge of the known object). As such, it follows that our knowledge of our own existence is intuitive, our knowledge of God s existence is demonstrative, and our knowledge of things present to sense is sensitive. Locke believes that intuitive knowledge is real knowledge and the most important degree of knowledge wherein there is no need for inference as the Mind is at no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These devastating losses ultimately result in society alienating veterans out of pure ignorance. The drastic transformation that soldiers undergo often causes them to become outsiders in their own home. Otherwise you may return to a disaster after being gone for work or a night out. Here are some tips to help. Before you bring your dog home remove anything at ground level you want to keep. This can include shoes, game controllers, lamp cords or anything that is below a 4 foot level. The reason for this is because your dogwill think that anything in its reach is a toy, worth eating or chewing up into shreds. Any paper, magazines, clothes or other normal objects that people have in their home should be put up on a shelf or placed inside a closed closet. There is no getting around this because if you leave your dog unattended inside your home it will surely get separation anxiety and start to chew, tear or shred anything in its reach. Make sure that lower level cabinets have child proof latches on them and never leave cabinets that contain cleaning solutions or furniture wax open after each use. Even if you plan on leaving your dog outside when you leave you will still have to keep an eye on it when you are home. Make sure that you reward good behavior with a treat or lots of loving attention and bad behavior with a stern NO . The hallways were lined, side to side, with different groups of different people with different ideas and opinions. I, myself, was part of a clique also. However, my clique inter mingled with other cliques as we exchanged our ideas, opinions, and experiences. There were some other cliques that did the same as they did not isolate themselves from the rest of high school life. However, there were also the other kinds of groups which committed themselves to that group, and they did isolate themselves from everyone else. Now, let s take these cliques and turn them into full scale nations. The high... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This isolation from the rest of the world instills a sense of security within the people and within the government. They do not have to trust any other nations, nor do they have to rely on any other nations for anything. Basically, they decide that it would be best for them to work out political situations by themselves instead of looking to a foreign government as a model to deal with the situation. However, this also shows one of the weaknesses of localization. If a nation isolates itself politically from the rest of the nation, then there is a good chance that they will fall behind with the times; thus, they may lose face when it comes to their status on the world stage. Economically, globalization supports the expansion of trade, production, and investments to markets outside their own. This expansion is apparent when we look at the formation of such institutions as the European single market, the North American free trade area, the newly emerging Asian groupings, and the long overdue formation of the World Trade Organization. These institutions have allowed nations (that accept globalization) to experiment with several different markets in order to achieve economic gain. Large corporations now participate in foreign markets instead of remaining within a domestic market. They know that people are fascinated by the cultures of other races, and they implement facilities into other nations. For instance, James Rosenau ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It may happen that some categories are more complex than other such as News . Out of hundred 60% of Web sites fetched content from minimum five non origin sources, and these give more than 35% of the bytes downloaded. • 44. Psycho Analysis The movie Psycho was filmed in 1960 by Alfred Hitchcock. The movie focuses on a woman named Marion Crane. It starts when she steal 40,000 dollars from her boss to run away with her boyfriend. It s late and she decides to check into a motel, the Bates Motel. At the motel, she encounters a middle aged man named Norman Bates. He becomes morbidly obsessed with her. But he then kills her...dressed as his dead mom. There is a show that acts as a prequel to Hitchcock s masterpiece; Bates Motel. It is focused on Norman Bates and his mother, Norma Bates whereas the movie is focused on Marion Craine. Bates Motel is a very well written show, with great acting, and is filled with a ton of textbook psychology. There are very many different subplots in the show, but this paper is strictly going to analyze Norman and his relationship with his mother. It goes very in depth about the very troubling relationship between a son and mother, and how it led to Norman developing a dangerous persona of his mom. You could even say that Norman has an Oedipus conflict. An Oedipus conflict is apart of one of the psychosexual stages thought of by Sigmund Freud. He believed that during the age of 3 6, a child developed feelings for the parent of the opposite sex. And the only way to get over that feeling was to identify with his father. His Oedipus conflict would go on to never be resolved because his father was abusive. The series starts off after Norman hits his father in the head with a blender, killing him. His mom covers it up and makes it look like an accident to protect Norman. His father had been very abusive to him and his mother. Child abuse is said to be one of the most common causes of many mental illnesses. In this case, the abuse caused him to dissociate, or go off into his own little world where he felt safe in. It was very traumatic for a young Norman and his mother. People who tend to experience very traumatic things together have a stronger bond than those who don t. Norman and his mother are so codependent on each other that it s toxic. It is very apparent that Norman has a Dissociative Identity Disorder, also known as Multiple Personality Disorder. Wealth Is The Strongest Determinant Of Health Wealth is the strongest determinant of health in The United States of America as well as in other thriving nations, however the relationship between wealth and health is on the rise in the United States. A high socioeconomic, which is associated with wealth, is linked to a number of benefits that are profoundly connected with health outcomes. These benefits include higher level education, employment, environment, food, and health care. Although many of the factors contribute to health status differences, access to health insurance and health care services could help to reduce disparities. While lower family income generally means a lower probability of having employer based insurance, African Americans were less likely to have job based insurance at all income levels compared to their white counterparts for many years (UCLA, 2000), prior to Obama care. Even African Americans who receive similar education to Whites, are more likely to live in poverty compared to a their white counterparts Black patients compared to any other lower socioeconomic position are least likely to receive medical services. In general, African Americans are deemed to have a poorer health status, in comparison to their white counterparts, which is primarily attributable to poverty and deprived communities.
