The Philippine Philippines Culture And Culture Essay
The Philippines is a country deeply rooted in culture. The Army defines culture as a dynamic social
system containing the values, beliefs, behaviors, and the norms of a specific group, organization or
society or other collectively learned, shared, internalized, and changeable by all members of the
society (FM 3 24 COUNTERINSURGENCY, 2006). Cultures have different characteristics which
consist of shared, learned, symbols, integrated and dynamic. Culture
The Philippine islands are broken into three main geographical locations, Luzon, Visayas and
Mindanao travelers from all three locations share the culture by moving from one place to another or
just by visiting family or friends that have moved, culture is also shared by the schools or institutions
that foreigners attend in the Philippines. The Philippine eagle is the national bird, which is a symbol of
the Philippines. Learning the culture come from being raised within the community which is a part of
one s upbringing or living amongst a community in order to learn their culture. Integrated culture
deals with learning a culture in its entirety and understanding every portion of that particular culture
comes together. The dynamic characteristic explains how a culture change due to interactions with
other cultures and when one piece of a culture change, if integrated the culture could change
altogether. Physical Geography and Weather Analysis

Basic Components Of The Us Healthcare Delivery System Essay
Healthcare delivery system main objectives. The main objective of a healthcare delivery system is to
ensure that anyone who needs healthcare receives the best care, at a price they can afford (Barton,
2010, p. 8). The functional components of the US healthcare delivery system. The U.S healthcare
system is large and varied. However, the basic functional components include running the system, the
different branches of the system, how services are rendered, how the services are funded, and
manufacturing of new products (Barton, 2010, p. 6 8). The component of running the system allows
for quality control, making new polices, enforcing said polices, and monitoring the different aspects of
the healthcare delivery system (Barton, 2010, p. 7). The different branches of the healthcare system
allow for people from every level of the finance scale to seek medical care (Barton, 2010, p. 7). The
private market and volunteer organizations are two examples of different branches of the healthcare
system (Barton, 2010, p. 6). Serves are rendered through specialized branches like primary care and
secondary care (Barton, 2010, p. 6). Meaning you go to the specific doctor needed, for example if you
are pregnant seeking prenatal care you see an OBGYN. The system is funded by many different
sources, including the government and private insurance (Barton, 2010, p. 6). The manufacturing of
new products includes, but is not limited to teaching new workers and producing new technology

A Letter To Associated Students Of Western Oregon University
Dear Associated Students of Western Oregon University, Rex Fuller
When I decided to go to Western Oregon University, I knew I was going to a small school, and I
wanted that. I know only 5,382 students go to Western and that is not much bigger than my high
school. The reason I came was for the Western for the WOU women s rugby team. When I came to
WOU, I expected more support from the school and am very disappointed. Did you know that the
Western Oregon women s rugby team has gone to the conference finals three years in a row? And in
2015 and 2016, they were back to back champions? Yet the rugby team and other clubs get little to no
funding and support from the university.
The football team has fought to have a winning season since 2000, ... Show more content on

WOU could easily become one of the top schools in the country for rugby. All the rugby program
would need is more support from the university. In fact, this is an excerpt from a NCAA article about
rugby:
For all institutions, it is an economical way to offer a popular women s athletic activity for current and
incoming students. To field a women s rugby team, the basic needs include: 1) a pool of existing or
incoming students that want to play, 2) a coach, 3) a soccer sized field for practice and competition,
and 4) developing a schedule with local, regional and national competitive opportunities.
WOU already has all of those things and a club that is already performing at a high level, yet, rugby is
not considered a sport by the university.
By support, I do not necessarily mean money. All though money would be nice because rugby runs all
their own fundraisers and gets no financial support from the school. Currently the rugby teams
compete with the lacrosse teams for a field to practice on. Even when the rugby teams are allowed to
practice, the field is double or triple booked, meaning they have a small half or quarter of the field to
practice on. In fact, most nights the football field is completely unoccupied. If the rugby teams and
lacrosse teams could use the football field or other empty fields, there would be less frustration about
practice time. Clubs aren t even allowed to use the empty weight rooms on campus. This forces the
club teams to try and use the

The Destruction Of Jerusalem And The Temple
Point #2 The destruction of Jerusalem and the temple in A.D. 70 fulfills Christ s prophecy of perilous
times.
13:
With v. 15 we come to a critical juncture in the discourse. To this point Jesus has referred to general
signs that would characterize the period preceding Israel s collapse. Here in v. 15, though, he refers to
one sign that unmistakably signals that the prophesied destruction is at hand. It would serve to alert
the people of that generation as to the proximity of Jerusalem s ruin. In response to the question,
When will these things be? Jesus now answers When you see . . . (v. 15).
Abomination of Desolation is literally, the abomination that causes desolation. In the OT, abomination
= an object of disgust, hatred, something that causes revulsion; an idolatrous offense or affront to the
true worship of God.
The Abomination of Desolation is referred to 4x in Daniel 8:13; 9:27; 11:31; 12:11. The first and
immediate reference was to the Syrian king Antiochus who ruled over Palestine in 175 65 b.c. He
called himself Theos Epiphanes ( manifest God ) but his enemies called him Epimanes ( madman; the
insane one ).
In 168 b.c. Antiochus Epiphanes slaughtered 40,000 Jews and plundered the temple. He sacrificed a
pig on the altar of burnt offering, sprinkled broth from the unclean flesh all over the holy grounds as
an act of deliberate defilement. He then erected an image of Zeus above the altar. It was a sacrilege of
indescribable proportions indelibly imprinted

The first work is the center panel of the Merode Altarpiece by Robert Campin in 1425. It is titled The
Annunciation and is a Flemish painting. The second work is a fresco by Fra Angelico entitled
Annunciation. It was made in 1440 in Florence, Italy. The Merode Altarpiece is considered early
fifteenth century Flemish art while Annunciation is considered Early Renaissance art. The subject of

This work would have been located in a private Flemish home for private worship but it now located
in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The Annunciation is significant to history because it
demonstrated the shift of public worship at a church to private worship in the home. This shift would
eventually lead to the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century.
Annunciation, the fresco, clearly demonstrates the focus on religion in the 15th century. The fresco is
part of numerous frescos that were commissioned by the abbot of the Dominican monastery of San
Marco. The purpose of the fresco was to give religious reminders and instill piety into the monks who
were dedicating their lives to prayer. There is even an inscription at the bottom of the work that
reminds the monks to say a Hail Mary when they pass the work. Fra Angelico was greatly influenced
by two Gothic artists Gentile da Fabriano and Masaccio. The influence of Fabriano is evident in the
drapery and detail of Gabriel s wings which give a decorative style to the fresco. The influence of
Masaccio can be seen in the use of realistic depth. The work also uses linear perspective which can be
seen in the line between garden and the architecture. However, the lighting and the proportions of the
figures within the architecture are irrational. It could be said that these artistic mistakes were

Critical Analysis Of Walt Whitman s Song Of Myself
In Walt Whitman s Song of Myself , the poet showcases his feelings of people and himself by using
literary descriptors to convey his thoughts on these and various other subjects. In section 20, Whitman
s purpose is to showcase self assuredness regardless of what the world tries to state otherwise by
maintaining his resolute happiness in being himself. This is what sets him apart from being like the
other people in the world.
Whitman is known for being revolutionary for his use of free form verse in the nineteenth century.
This style is evident throughout Song of Myself which aids in his descriptions and devices used to get
his meaning across. His grouping of three lines per stanza for this section is common for the entirety
of Song of Myself , which has variations of three line to occasionally five line stanzas. His freedom in
his poem s style and lack of rhyme scheme allow him to fully showcase his thoughts in a new way for
this time period. An overall summary of the poem is Whitman s pondering of himself and the world in
behavior and personality to him being fully confident in himself with no existential crisis. For the first
half of section 20, Whitman s character of himself questions everything beyond the ownership of
himself. He questions the integrity of other people s identities and characters as well as ignoring social
norms involving manners and religious behavior. The declaration of a lack of manners and questioning
the church would have been scandalous to

Future Colony On Mars
The future colony on Mars will need to have an intelligent use of local resources (Zubrin3, 2) from the
planet s surface, have excellent crew morale and compatibility, and be entirely self sufficient. This
type of colony is imperative because of the fact that resupply spacecraft from Earth take several
months to reach Mars, and precision landings, where rockets are used to guide a descending spacecraft
very near a targeted object, or location, are extremely difficult. In addition the base would to not be

Shipping And Environmental Pollution
RESEARCH OBJECTIVES:
The objectives of the study are as follows:
To study the impact of shipping on the global environment.
To study the causes and measures of shipping in mitigating the environment pollution.
4. METHODOLOGY:
The researcher has used the data and information which are already available. Based on the
requirements of the current research and also based the specifications of the regulatory bodies of the
world, the causes and measures of shipping in mitigating the environment pollution and also the
impact of shipping on the global environment have been studied.
5. SHIPS AND SHIPPING:
To discuss the relation among shipping, the environment, and sustainable development, it is useful to
define certain terminology. The main focus of shipping is on commercial ships, although many of the
emissions, impacts and measures are common to other sectors, such as leisure, research, and fishing.
The different regulations also require definitions of a ship. Different definitions exist, although
according to the glossary of the US Navy, a boat usually refers to small vessels that are often open,
whereas ships are vessels of considerable size that are intended for deep water navigation. A ship can
also be defined by its size: vessels longer than 12 m and wider than 4 m are referred to as ships, and
smaller vessels are known as boats. Common ship types can be identified according to their type of
use:
Container Ships: These vessels carry most of the world s manufactured

The Pros And Cons Of DNA Profiling
DNA profiling is a standard tool used to help with criminal investigations. This is impactful in the
field of forensics to determine and identify suspects of murder. For example, almost 50 years after the
crime, DNA provided evidence in the murder of Mary Sullivan by taking a sample from the nephew of
the suspect in her murder. As such, it was clear the Boston Strangler was Albert DeSalvo. (Philip
Bulman, February, 2014) DNA profiling is also imperative in identifying murder victims such as
Kerry Graham and Francine Trimble, who became missing in December, 1978. Due to advanced
knowledge in forensic science, a DNA match identified the victims in December, 2015. (Linda
Williams, 2016) DNA profiling is conducted first by obtaining a DNA sample from a crime scene,
suspect, victim or other evidence. The next step is to amplify sequences to make the DNA sample
larger. Finally, gel electrophoresis is used to compare regions of the amplified DNA to determine
which samples are from the same individual and which are unique. There are several profiling
techniques such as polymerase chain reaction which targets and quickly copies segments of DNA
from even minute amounts of blood or tissue. Another profiling method is short tandem report
analysis which repeats short sequences of DNA to determine exact matches between relatives and
unrelated individuals. As referenced above, gel electrophoresis compares fragments of DNA by
separating from different sources. Lastly, there is RELP analysis

Best Friends for Life
By: Marellus Sawyer
Morgan? You asleep? Dallas asked me while looking ahead at the road.
I was laying back in my seat, staring out the passenger window at the trees whizzing by.
It was a hot summer night and we had driven down to Detroit to watch a Tigers game. We were
headed north to home, almost a 4.5 hour drive.
I m not sure why I didn t answer him. I pretended to be asleep and looked out the window, lost in my
thoughts.
Dallas turned up the radio a bit and sang along off key to The Fray.
Dallas is my best friend. I owed everything to him. When I moved next door to him when I was 10
years old, we became instant best friends. I hung out with the popular crowd at school because of him.

Dallas was hot. At least he was to me. He had thick brown hair and blue eyes. His body was ripped.
He had a goatee on his chin.
We were both about the same height, me at 6 0 and him at 6 1 . He had about 10 pounds of muscle on
me, but we were both built similarly. We could even share clothes if we wanted.
I had blue eyes and dark blond hair, but I kept my hair buzzed pretty short.
When we passed a sign that said REST AREA: 2 MILES , Dallas muttered Oh, man. Thank God. I
gotta piss so fucking bad.
Dallas pulled into the deserted rest stop and nudged my arm.
Morgan. You need to piss?
I sat up. Yeah.
Fuck, dude. I m gonna piss my pants, he laughed as he parked the car.
He shut the engine off and practically sprinted to the small building. I was right behind him. I looked
around and there was no one around. It was pretty late, after midnight. There were a few semi trucks
parked on the truck side of the parking lot, but otherwise it was deserted. It was dark and kind of scary
and it freaked me out a little bit.
Dallas was unzipping his shorts as soon as we were in the restroom. He made a beeline for the last
stall and I took the one next to him. I could hear him loudly pissing into the bowl. I pulled out my dick
and let loose my own stream.
Fuck, that feels good! Dallas shouted over the stall wall.
I tried not to think about Dallas next door with his dick in his hand. I finished pissing and was shaking

The Pedestrian Essay
Utopia and dystopia:
Ray Bradbury s short story The Pedestrian
Ray Bradbury s short story The Pedestrian is a dramatic illustration of the dangers of living in a world
where contact with nature is deemed so abnormal that even walking alone at night is a crime. The
dystopian story revolves around the tale of a man named Leonard Mead, living during a time period
not so far away from our own, in 2053 CE. In the story, a robotic police car is so suspicious of Mead s
walking behavior during one pleasant night that he is taken away to a psychiatric hospital. In the new
world, desiring televised rather than real experience is considered normal. People only venture out
during the day when it is required for their work. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many communities, walking behavior does appear to be unusual, because it looks so uncommon,
despite the natural physiological aspect of walking. Riding in a car is seen as more normal, just like a
robotic policeman is seen as more normal in the Bradbury story. Today, people do still walk, but often
on a moving conveyor belt at the gym, rather in a real environment. This takes people away from
nature and a sense of being part of something larger than themselves. Although Bradbury does not
specifically discuss the physical risks of inactivity, the nation s climbing obesity rate is clear evidence
of the fact that Americans are moving less and instead turning to sedentary pastimes to unwind. From
Bradbury s perspective in time, the dangers of television were the greatest risk posed to enjoying
hands on, real world activities. Today, there are even more varied sedentary distractions, spanning
from the Internet, to mobile phones, to video games. In the modern world, we are increasingly
categorized by our technological devices. Our cellphones, cars, and computers define our identities,
rather than our bodies. We are losing the ability to amuse ourselves in the outside world. But it is our
connection to nature, stripped of technology, which is essential to our individuality, not the programs
we watch on television or the appearance of our cellphones. Bradbury s dystopian story provides a
warning that is clearly not being heeded. Although we may have more technological

Essay On Chivalry In The Song Of Roland
The Song of Roland is based on the Battle of Roncevaux in 778. Regarded as the oldest surviving
work in French literature, the epic s author is theorized to be Turold. The text shows a medieval point
of view regarding knights and chivalry that would have otherwise been lost. Knights were to have
certain qualities to be considered chivalrous and Turold depicts a classic form of chivalry in his work.
The readers only get to experience the knights in battle so it would be hard to make a true prediction
of what Turold believed. In battle, Turold s knights show no unrelenting strength, engaging
compassion, unprecedented honor, lethal prowess, strong faith, and unwavering loyalty. The men fight
for what they believe and do what they are ordered with no regard for how it may turn out. The
warriors give their all to God, their Emperor, and Count Roland in The Song of Roland.
One of the qualities of chivalry The Song of Roland portrays is compassion. ... Show more content on

Honor is when someone fulfills an agreement or duty but is also when a person does something that is
to be held in high esteem. The readers of The Song of Roland see this early on when Roland will not
let Oliver talk down about his stepfather, even though Oliver is right in his intentions. Roland replies,
Be still, Oliver. / He is still my stepfather my stepfather. / I won t have you speak one word against
him (Goldin 81). By not letting Oliver speak ill of his stepfather, Roland is taking up for his family
name and not letting it be smudged. Honor is also shown in a different light when the men stay and
fight the battle even though they may lose. The battle cry Roland s warriors let out is, God hate the
man who runs! / We may die here, but no man will fail you (Goldin 81). The men have the opportunity
to run and return home safely but their honor would not let them do that. Their purpose is to fight and,
by not fighting, they are not doing their duty as

Analysis Of The Article Peaceful Revolution During...
In an article titled Peaceful Revolution in Czechoslovakia from Economic and Political Weekly, a
social science journal created in India in 1949 that covers international topics, the beginnings of the
Prague Spring were told as of April 27th, 1968. The tone of the article is optimistic about the new
liberalization seen in Czechoslovakia to this point, but there is also a tone of uncertainty about what
exactly will happen. The author of the article knows that major changes are being made, so quickly
that it has become difficult to keep track of the developments that are unfolding practically every day,
but there is little sense of what they will lead to in the future for Czechoslovakia. The article mentions
the election of Alexander Dubcek into the government, and how these revolutionary ideas had already
been churning in prior years leading up to this time. They are also already reporting on concern
coming from communist leaders that these sort of ideas will spread to other countries, as a meeting
with several communist leaders and Dubcek had taken place in March in which they strongly advised
Dubcek to slow down the pace of change in view of the serious consequences that might ensue in
Czechoslovakia and in the other socialist countries. The situation in Czechoslovakia is revolutionary
and looks promising, but there are still so many uncertainties and questions for the country s future at
this point. The author questions whether the new policies will actually last or

Designing A New Automated Customer Service System
In the modern business scape, the reality for many companies is to design practices in accordance with
customer expectations, specifically with regards to the ever increasing need for digital options. This is
the case for many industries, with many pondering on how to go about addressing the issue. Bogers
Media is one such company to have taken the liberty of not only addressing but also designing, with
the intent to implement, a new automated customer service system based on machine learning.
Of course, this is not the first of its kind but, if used correctly, it may be among the first in Bogers
particular industry. Automated customer service systems have been integrated into various companies
strategies yielding optimal results. Starbucks saw a measurable profit increase after implementing
their Mobile Order and Pay program. It goes without saying the essentiality of observing what others
have done in this field, inciting an understanding of the risks and challenges associated with such an
endeavor. For this purpose, let us observe the National Library of Medicine (NLM) and their virtual
representative, Cosmo.
Due to the size of their catalogue, the NLM had integrated Cosmo as an addition to their already
present call centre to streamline the process with those who had simpler and/or fewer questions to ask.
According to representatives of the NLM, the advantages of this system include a simpler navigation
tool, an alternative for people who prefer

client was also a challenge for me because I cannot rush through to get to know the bottom line of the
problem. I had to be patient and go step by step to find out the root cause of the problem. Additionally,
I have to think through twice or even thrice before asking the client questions. I had to be careful with
the questions I ask as some direct questions may affect the client. For instance, if I ask too many why
questions, the client would be defensive and feel pressurized to provide an explanation when they do

to self challenge themselves hence I asked questions like do you ever see yourself being a person that

Last but not least, one of the challenges I faced during the short counselling session was not being able

only formal education was in art. At the age of ten, he entered a drawing school and then at the age of
fourteen, he apprenticed to an engraver. ( Abrams Stillinger 18). Although, much of Blake s time was
spent studying art, he enjoyed reading and soon began to write poetry. Blake s first book of poems,
Poetical Sketches, showed his dissatisfaction with the reigning poetic tradition and his restless quest
for new forms and techniques ( Abrams Stillinger 19). Poetical Sketches, was followed by many other
works including, Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience. These series were accompanied by
etchings, which depict ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The people of this time thought that God was above the world and independent of the material
universe. They looked at humans as being flawed and weak based on the story of Adam and Eve. The
Romantic period contrasted the beliefs of the 18 th century. Romanticism stressed strong emotion,
imagination, freedom from classical correctness in art forms and rebellion against social conventions
(Romanticism 1). The main goal of the Romantics was to bring what they thought was a dead universe
back to life and to add feeling. In addition, the Romantics saw the importance in writing poetry, which
would express their beliefs and attitudes.
The attitudes of the Romantics were a deepened appreciation of the beauties of nature, a general
exaltation of emotion over reason and of the senses over intellect (Romanticism 1). The Romantics
took their own feelings and brought them to life in their poetry. Traditional beliefs or formal rules of
poetry no longer governed them. The Romantics not only held a greater ability to express themselves
but they also possessed a greater sensitivity and a sense of optimism, which is prevalent in their work.
Blake was one of the foremost poets in the Romantic Era. Blake valued the unattainable as much as
the other poets of his time did. The main goal, although impossible to attain was, the Ideal, a state in
which a perfect union between nature and human comprehension was accomplished ( Marcotte 16).

Gender Stereotypes In Sesame Street
Many times in our life we take on roles that are based more on myths and on misconceptions than on
fact, for example, gender roles. Since ancient times, it was considered natural for women to give birth
(to boys, if possible) and take care of children and the household. Women were often considered
unqualified for jobs that required physical strength. Men, on the other hand were the breadwinner of
the family. He made sure to provide his family with the basic needs, such as food, clothing, protection
and shelter.
In society, the media is a powerful socializing agent for young children. When children watch TV they
see males act more aggressively than females, and that females are more likely to understand other
people s needs and feelings. All of the children shows in the 1991 Saturday morning TV lineup had
male lead characters. Even on public TV s Sesame Street , most of the Muppet characters were
identified as males. In 2007, there are a few female Muppet characters on Sesame Street , such as Zoë
(Elmo s friend) and bilingual Rosita. In the New York ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When children are born, mothers and fathers tend to describe boys as firm, alert, and strong, and girls
as beautiful, pretty and cute. There is no difference between babies except for gender. The different
descriptions reflect the parents attitudes about boys and girls rather than the babies actual
characteristics. These stereotypes find there way into a child s bedroom. A boy s room contains more
vehicles and sports equipment, while a girl s room is more likely to contain dolls. Fathers, in
particular, treat sons and daughters differently. Fathers play more roughly with sons than with
daughters, and usually give them more independence. The different messages that are received by
boys and girls from parents and TV become important to the way they view and behave in

Bitter Political Enemies
In Badger s and Choksi article How We Became Bitter Political Enemies as published by the New
York Times, the authors discuss the matter of the worsening political relations between the Democrat
and Republican party. This article presents the sore relations of the two parties as an occurrence that
has only significantly worsened over the last 50 years due to both sides of the aisle fostering a
growing animosity towards the other side. The animosity, however, has evolved from disagreeing over
policies and legislation, to outright disliking someone just due to the party they represent. As a result,
the Democrat and Republican party tension has become more personal over recent decades, and
bipartisanship has suffered due to this. Those who identify as either a Democrat or Republican view
the other party through a negative lens. For example, Badger and Choksi concluded that individuals
who affiliated with one of the two parties perceive that the opposing party isn t just misguided, ...

In short, we use our political affiliation as means of identifying our own person; similar to how one

different social subgroups can be found within the other party, it is party identification that prevails in
how partisans will view one another. A study that was discussed during class demonstrates that inter
group animosity based on partisanship exceeds animosity based on race. Badger and Choksi revealed
that after analyzing a Pew research poll, Republicans considered members of the opposing party to be
more close minded than other Americans, and that Opposing partisans [view each other as]

Antigone

characters that are included in the play. Afterward, it will discuss the basic conflict in the play.
Specifically, the two individuals that are involved the basic conflict and what they represent in the
play. In conclusion, this essay will illustrate why Antigone qualifies as a heroic figure. But, in order
for the reader to understand Antigone, the reader must first know Oedipus. Oedipus has two daughters,
Antigone and Ismene two sons, Polyneices and Aeteocles. When Oedipus left the throne, Polyneices,
and Aetocles had agreed to letting Aetocles take over while Polyneices moved to another polis.

Antigone s action could be considered as immature and impulsive. She understood the consequence of
violating Creon s order, but she still insisted. Ancient Greek believes that above the laws of man, there
are laws of the gods and Antigone also believe on it. She believes burying the decedent is a divine
responsibility, and more importantly, she believes that she has a greater responsibility to bury her
brother which was the reason for her actions. On the other hand, Creon s personality is definitely
opposite from Antigone s. He has a human made institution and a calculating action. This play has
illustrated each side of the tension and conflict of family and state.
Antigone and Creon are the two individuals involved in this basic conflict represent. The different
beliefs that they have in their life has made their character more significant. Antigone represents
females, families, nature and the laws of Gods and she s motivated by bloodline family. She is a heroic
character because of her strong faith towards some person s life and with God and goodness. On the
other side, Integrity of political state drives Creon to act because he is fairly new to being a King his

The Obesity Epidemic
Introduction The World Health Organization defines being overweight or obese as abnormal or
excessive fat accumulation that may impair an individual s state of health. One asks themselves, how
being overweight or obese can be measured? Measuring or classifying an individual of being
overweight or obese can be done by measuring an individual s body mass index or BMI. BMI is an
index that classifies individuals to determine if they are either underweight, normal weight,
overweight or obesity. BMI can be easily calculated by an individual s weight in kilograms divided by
the square of individual s height in meters (kg / m^2). According to the World Health Organization, an
individual is classified by BMI, in the following order: underweight = 18.5, normal weight = 18.5
24.9, overweight = 25 29.9, obesity = 30. BMI is useful to measure population because it is
standardized in both sexes and all ages in adults. According to the WHO, overweight and obesity is
the fifth leading risk global deaths. Being overweight or obese can lead to diabetes, osteoarthritis,
cardiovascular diseases (heart disease, stroke) and certain cancers (endometrial, breast and colon).
Epidemiologists and others in respect fields have figured out the causes that lead to being overweight
or obese. The main cause s an energy imbalance between calories consumed and calories expended.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the WHO have seen that globally an increased

Global Warming Is Becoming An Ecology Threat
There has been a loss of respect for mother Earth; humans have developed the filthy habit of littering
anywhere possible. For example, one ton of 100% recycled paper save the equivalent of 4,100
kilowatt hours of energy, 7,000 gallons of water, 60 pounds of air emission and three cubic yards of
landfill space . Based on the facts there has been proven that global warming is actually becoming an
Ecology threat. I want to give the reader an insight of how we humans are destroying the planet Earth.
The planet Earth is only getting worse; therefore we humans must practice more sustainable acts. Did

Eventually, this will cause the native people a hard time to hunt them. We are facing temperature that

decaying. According to the U.S. Global Change Research Program, the temperature in the U.S. has
increased by 2 degrees in the last 50 years and precipitation has increased by 5%. In the near future we
will be flooded by water and then we will want to save the planet, but eventually it will be too late. I
have acknowledged that not many people are making an effort to be a Good Samaritan. Just looking at
local cities, the lack of recycling effort resident shows impacts drastically around the world. Imagine
these local cities, plus thousands/millions more around the world, refusing on doing an ecological act
of recycling and reusing materials. These acts might not look bad for one person, but if you sum all
the people doing it around the world, it adds up to an enormous number. A lot of those people doing
all those filthy acts often believe that global warming is fake and that if they don t dispose an item
properly, they assume that nothing will happen to the ecosystem. Also, the people around the world
don t see the bigger picture that by having a large home/mansion is slowly killing the environment.
Why? Because the larger the house the more wood is required to build it, and use more quantity of
other products that are not appropriate for the environment.

Ruling Court Decision
Two federal courts, the United States Tax Court and the United States Court of Appeals, reached
opposing conclusions regarding a decision classifying a Mr. John Menard s 1998 compensation as
purely salary or as combination salary and disguised dividend. For clarification, a disguised dividend
is compensation given to a CEO, controlling shareholder, or president of a closely held corporation
that is determined in excess of a reasonable salary for work completed.
Ruling Court Decision
The compensation received by Mr. Menard, the CEO and controlling shareholder of Menard, Inc., was
not unreasonable for his position and therefore did not include a tax evasive disguised dividend. This
opinion agrees with the decision made by the United States Court of Appeals.
The argument presented by the Tax Court did not consider factors brought to attention by the Court of
Appeals. Most notably, the Tax Court did not consider all forms of compensation to the CEO when
determining a formula for comparability. This is problematic as the comparability formula used to
determine a reasonable compensation for Mr. Menard to receive and was the basis of the Tax Court s
argument against Mr. Menard.
Both courts made their decisions based on two main arguements:
Compensation Comparability Formula
Bonus versus dividend
Decision Overview

their decision that the compensation of Mr. John Menard in

The Health Benefits Of Tobacco
The United States economy appears large and formidable to foreign countries, but it is actually a
delicate balance. One of the key contributors to the balance of the economy is tobacco. Tobacco has
played a role in global economic ties since the discovery of the Americas. Instantly popularized across
the world, it has become a staple crop for many countries. Recently, however, political leaders have
been murmuring of making tobacco illegal due to its health effects. The legality of tobacco is essential
because it has several health benefits, employs countless workers, and contributes hundreds of
thousands of dollars to the global economy. The health benefits of tobacco have only recently been
brought into the light. As a new area of research, few sources have extensive knowledge of the
subject. Some of the few studies have shown that tobacco can be used to fight certain forms of cancer,
prevent Parkinson s disease, and battle obesity. Doctor William Campbell Douglass, who himself
smokes 3 to 4 cigars a day, has spent years unraveling the mysteries of tobacco. Doctor Douglass
explanations pointed to several statistics indicating moderate smoking can improve conditions of
patients suffering from specific forms of cancer (Douglass). He also describes a study which shows
that women who smoked regularly were at a risk that was 54% lower than women who did not smoke
(Douglass). Several other independent studies have also proven the benefits of tobacco. A 2010 study

  • 3. Basic Components Of The Us Healthcare Delivery System Essay Healthcare delivery system main objectives. The main objective of a healthcare delivery system is to ensure that anyone who needs healthcare receives the best care, at a price they can afford (Barton, 2010, p. 8). The functional components of the US healthcare delivery system. The U.S healthcare system is large and varied. However, the basic functional components include running the system, the different branches of the system, how services are rendered, how the services are funded, and manufacturing of new products (Barton, 2010, p. 6 8). The component of running the system allows for quality control, making new polices, enforcing said polices, and monitoring the different aspects of the healthcare delivery system (Barton, 2010, p. 7). The different branches of the healthcare system allow for people from every level of the finance scale to seek medical care (Barton, 2010, p. 7). • 4. A Letter To Associated Students Of Western Oregon University Dear Associated Students of Western Oregon University, Rex Fuller When I decided to go to Western Oregon University, I knew I was going to a small school, and I wanted that. I know only 5,382 students go to Western and that is not much bigger than my high school. The reason I came was for the Western for the WOU women s rugby team. When I came to WOU, I expected more support from the school and am very disappointed. Did you know that the Western Oregon women s rugby team has gone to the conference finals three years in a row? And in 2015 and 2016, they were back to back champions? Yet the rugby team and other clubs get little to no funding and support from the university. The football team has fought to have a winning season since 2000, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... WOU could easily become one of the top schools in the country for rugby. All the rugby program would need is more support from the university. In fact, this is an excerpt from a NCAA article about rugby: For all institutions, it is an economical way to offer a popular women s athletic activity for current and incoming students. To field a women s rugby team, the basic needs include: 1) a pool of existing or incoming students that want to play, 2) a coach, 3) a soccer sized field for practice and competition, and 4) developing a schedule with local, regional and national competitive opportunities. WOU already has all of those things and a club that is already performing at a high level, yet, rugby is not considered a sport by the university. By support, I do not necessarily mean money. All though money would be nice because rugby runs all their own fundraisers and gets no financial support from the school. Currently the rugby teams compete with the lacrosse teams for a field to practice on. Even when the rugby teams are allowed to practice, the field is double or triple booked, meaning they have a small half or quarter of the field to practice on. In fact, most nights the football field is completely unoccupied. If the rugby teams and lacrosse teams could use the football field or other empty fields, there would be less frustration about practice time. Clubs aren t even allowed to use the empty weight rooms on campus. This forces the club teams to try and use the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Destruction Of Jerusalem And The Temple Point #2 The destruction of Jerusalem and the temple in A.D. 70 fulfills Christ s prophecy of perilous times. 13: With v. 15 we come to a critical juncture in the discourse. To this point Jesus has referred to general signs that would characterize the period preceding Israel s collapse. Here in v. 15, though, he refers to one sign that unmistakably signals that the prophesied destruction is at hand. It would serve to alert the people of that generation as to the proximity of Jerusalem s ruin. In response to the question, When will these things be? Jesus now answers When you see . . . (v. 15). Abomination of Desolation is literally, the abomination that causes desolation. In the OT, abomination = an object of disgust, hatred, something that causes revulsion; an idolatrous offense or affront to the true worship of God. The Abomination of Desolation is referred to 4x in Daniel 8:13; 9:27; 11:31; 12:11. The first and immediate reference was to the Syrian king Antiochus who ruled over Palestine in 175 65 b.c. He called himself Theos Epiphanes ( manifest God ) but his enemies called him Epimanes ( madman; the insane one ). In 168 b.c. Antiochus Epiphanes slaughtered 40,000 Jews and plundered the temple. He sacrificed a pig on the altar of burnt offering, sprinkled broth from the unclean flesh all over the holy grounds as an act of deliberate defilement. He then erected an image of Zeus above the altar. It was a sacrilege of indescribable proportions indelibly imprinted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This work would have been located in a private Flemish home for private worship but it now located in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The Annunciation is significant to history because it demonstrated the shift of public worship at a church to private worship in the home. This shift would eventually lead to the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century. Annunciation, the fresco, clearly demonstrates the focus on religion in the 15th century. The fresco is part of numerous frescos that were commissioned by the abbot of the Dominican monastery of San Marco. The purpose of the fresco was to give religious reminders and instill piety into the monks who were dedicating their lives to prayer. There is even an inscription at the bottom of the work that reminds the monks to say a Hail Mary when they pass the work. Fra Angelico was greatly influenced by two Gothic artists Gentile da Fabriano and Masaccio. The influence of Fabriano is evident in the drapery and detail of Gabriel s wings which give a decorative style to the fresco. The influence of Masaccio can be seen in the use of realistic depth. The work also uses linear perspective which can be seen in the line between garden and the architecture. However, the lighting and the proportions of the figures within the architecture are irrational. It could be said that these artistic mistakes were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Critical Analysis Of Walt Whitman s Song Of Myself In Walt Whitman s Song of Myself , the poet showcases his feelings of people and himself by using literary descriptors to convey his thoughts on these and various other subjects. In section 20, Whitman s purpose is to showcase self assuredness regardless of what the world tries to state otherwise by maintaining his resolute happiness in being himself. This is what sets him apart from being like the other people in the world. Whitman is known for being revolutionary for his use of free form verse in the nineteenth century. This style is evident throughout Song of Myself which aids in his descriptions and devices used to get his meaning across. His grouping of three lines per stanza for this section is common for the entirety of Song of Myself , which has variations of three line to occasionally five line stanzas. His freedom in his poem s style and lack of rhyme scheme allow him to fully showcase his thoughts in a new way for this time period. An overall summary of the poem is Whitman s pondering of himself and the world in behavior and personality to him being fully confident in himself with no existential crisis. For the first half of section 20, Whitman s character of himself questions everything beyond the ownership of himself. He questions the integrity of other people s identities and characters as well as ignoring social norms involving manners and religious behavior. The declaration of a lack of manners and questioning the church would have been scandalous to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The Pros And Cons Of DNA Profiling DNA profiling is a standard tool used to help with criminal investigations. This is impactful in the field of forensics to determine and identify suspects of murder. For example, almost 50 years after the crime, DNA provided evidence in the murder of Mary Sullivan by taking a sample from the nephew of the suspect in her murder. As such, it was clear the Boston Strangler was Albert DeSalvo. (Philip Bulman, February, 2014) DNA profiling is also imperative in identifying murder victims such as Kerry Graham and Francine Trimble, who became missing in December, 1978. Due to advanced knowledge in forensic science, a DNA match identified the victims in December, 2015. (Linda Williams, 2016) DNA profiling is conducted first by obtaining a DNA sample from a crime scene, suspect, victim or other evidence. The next step is to amplify sequences to make the DNA sample larger. Finally, gel electrophoresis is used to compare regions of the amplified DNA to determine which samples are from the same individual and which are unique. There are several profiling techniques such as polymerase chain reaction which targets and quickly copies segments of DNA from even minute amounts of blood or tissue. Another profiling method is short tandem report analysis which repeats short sequences of DNA to determine exact matches between relatives and unrelated individuals. As referenced above, gel electrophoresis compares fragments of DNA by separating from different sources. Lastly, there is RELP analysis ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Riding in a car is seen as more normal, just like a robotic policeman is seen as more normal in the Bradbury story. Today, people do still walk, but often on a moving conveyor belt at the gym, rather in a real environment. This takes people away from nature and a sense of being part of something larger than themselves. Although Bradbury does not specifically discuss the physical risks of inactivity, the nation s climbing obesity rate is clear evidence of the fact that Americans are moving less and instead turning to sedentary pastimes to unwind. From Bradbury s perspective in time, the dangers of television were the greatest risk posed to enjoying hands on, real world activities. Today, there are even more varied sedentary distractions, spanning from the Internet, to mobile phones, to video games. Regarded as the oldest surviving work in French literature, the epic s author is theorized to be Turold. Knights were to have certain qualities to be considered chivalrous and Turold depicts a classic form of chivalry in his work. The readers only get to experience the knights in battle so it would be hard to make a true prediction of what Turold believed. In battle, Turold s knights show no unrelenting strength, engaging compassion, unprecedented honor, lethal prowess, strong faith, and unwavering loyalty. • 32. Global Warming Is Becoming An Ecology Threat There has been a loss of respect for mother Earth; humans have developed the filthy habit of littering anywhere possible. For example, one ton of 100% recycled paper save the equivalent of 4,100 kilowatt hours of energy, 7,000 gallons of water, 60 pounds of air emission and three cubic yards of landfill space . Based on the facts there has been proven that global warming is actually becoming an Ecology threat. I want to give the reader an insight of how we humans are destroying the planet Earth. The planet Earth is only getting worse; therefore we humans must practice more sustainable acts. Many people don t believe that the ozone layer and atmosphere are decaying. According to the U.S. Global Change Research Program, the temperature in the U.S. has increased by 2 degrees in the last 50 years and precipitation has increased by 5%. In the near future we will be flooded by water and then we will want to save the planet, but eventually it will be too late. I have acknowledged that not many people are making an effort to be a Good Samaritan. Just looking at local cities, the lack of recycling effort resident shows impacts drastically around the world. Imagine these local cities, plus thousands/millions more around the world, refusing on doing an ecological act of recycling and reusing materials. These acts might not look bad for one person, but if you sum all the people doing it around the world, it adds up to an enormous number. A lot of those people doing all those filthy acts often believe that global warming is fake and that if they don t dispose an item properly, they assume that nothing will happen to the ecosystem. Also, the people around the world don t see the bigger picture that by having a large home/mansion is slowly killing the environment. Why? Because the larger the house the more wood is required to build it, and use more quantity of other products that are not appropriate for the environment. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Ruling Court Decision Two federal courts, the United States Tax Court and the United States Court of Appeals, reached opposing conclusions regarding a decision classifying a Mr. John Menard s 1998 compensation as purely salary or as combination salary and disguised dividend. For clarification, a disguised dividend is compensation given to a CEO, controlling shareholder, or president of a closely held corporation that is determined in excess of a reasonable salary for work completed. Ruling Court Decision The compensation received by Mr. Menard, the CEO and controlling shareholder of Menard, Inc., was not unreasonable for his position and therefore did not include a tax evasive disguised dividend. This opinion agrees with the decision made by the United States Court of Appeals. The argument presented by the Tax Court did not consider factors brought to attention by the Court of Appeals. Most notably, the Tax Court did not consider all forms of compensation to the CEO when determining a formula for comparability. This is problematic as the comparability formula used to determine a reasonable compensation for Mr. Menard to receive and was the basis of the Tax Court s argument against Mr. Menard. Both courts made their decisions based on two main arguements: Compensation Comparability Formula Bonus versus dividend Decision Overview United States Tax Court Decision In 2004, the United States Tax Court released a memo regarding their decision that the compensation of Mr. John Menard in ... • 39. The Health Benefits Of Tobacco The United States economy appears large and formidable to foreign countries, but it is actually a delicate balance. One of the key contributors to the balance of the economy is tobacco. Tobacco has played a role in global economic ties since the discovery of the Americas. Instantly popularized across the world, it has become a staple crop for many countries. Recently, however, political leaders have been murmuring of making tobacco illegal due to its health effects. The legality of tobacco is essential because it has several health benefits, employs countless workers, and contributes hundreds of thousands of dollars to the global economy. The health benefits of tobacco have only recently been brought into the light. As a new area of research, few sources have extensive knowledge of the subject. Some of the few studies have shown that tobacco can be used to fight certain forms of cancer, prevent Parkinson s disease, and battle obesity. Doctor William Campbell Douglass, who himself smokes 3 to 4 cigars a day, has spent years unraveling the mysteries of tobacco. Doctor Douglass explanations pointed to several statistics indicating moderate smoking can improve conditions of patients suffering from specific forms of cancer (Douglass). He also describes a study which shows that women who smoked regularly were at a risk that was 54% lower than women who did not smoke (Douglass). Several other independent studies have also proven the benefits of tobacco. A 2010 study published ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
