A Brief History Of Soccer
The history of soccer reveals that this contemporary game is nearly three thousand years old. Soccer
has been played all over the world and there are many older games that hold similarities to the modern
understanding of soccer. The roots of soccer are a bit ambiguous, but what is known of the sport
suggests that it is a very old game that has evolved over the passage of time. Some historians suggest
that the game of soccer is rooted in Japan circa 1004 BCE. At that time there were games played with

During King Edward s rule in England, there were regulations put into effect that banned anyone
from playing soccer. If anyone was caught doing so they risked imprisonment. According to King
Edward that the game was far too violent and noisy, that it caused too much chaos, and that when
soccer was played, many evils arose. The game was deemed indecent and vulgar. Many of the sheriffs
in England at the time ensured the suppression of the game, and later kings and queens also
considered the game indecent. Both King Henry the IV and the VIII put laws into effect that
disallowed the violent sport. Later, Queen Elizabeth would threaten to put any player of the game in
prison for a week s time and force them to follow up such action with penance through the church. In
the early 1680s the sport was officially sanctioned in England. By the 1800s the game grew in
popularity so much that there were yearly contests held in middle and northern England. What s more,
the allowance of such gaming did nothing to diminish the violence of the sport. A game held in
Derbyshire in the late 1820s revealed that there were lost hats, torn coats, broken heads, and broken
skin among players. In 1815 the Eton College devised official rules for the game.

PTSD Among Vietnam Veterans Essay
The majority of Vietnam veterans experienced delayed or chronic PTSD which we know now, can
remain dormant for years until symptoms are triggered. According to the Vietnam Veterans
Readjustment Study, approximately 30.9% of men and 26.9% of women soldiers in Vietnam had
PTSD at some point in their lives. (P8) Lifting these requirements from the DSM III allowed many
more veterans to step forward; and with this new massive population of test subjects scientists were
able to research the dynamics, variables, and patterns of PTSD, through the advancements of
neuroimaging and neuroscience. (P9) There were many more cases of PTSD among Vietnam veterans
than any other war. (P5) A number estimated to be near 500,000. (P11) Plasmodium falciparum ...

hallucinations which could be associated with PTSD s flashback episodes, as well as confusion and
amnesia which can be found is both illnesses. Because this particular stand of malaria effects the brain
it is easily identified with or mimic the symptoms of a psychological illness. A staff neuropsychologist
at Iowa City VA Medical Center, Dr. Varney, found evidence in his research that suggests many
veterans suffering from symptoms of PTSD might actually be exhibiting long term effects of cerebral
malaria. In one of his studies he found that ... cerebral malaria survivors exhibit symptoms such as
depression, personality change, feelings of subjective distress, impaired memory, emotional instability,
and seizures that were still problematic 15 20 years after the malaria illness had been treated. (P18)

Shakespeare s King Lear
The Characters of Goneril and Cordelia in King Lear
Nothing makes a story like a good villain, or in this case, good villainess. They are the people we love
to hate and yearn to watch burn. Goneril, of Shakespeare s King Lear, is no exception. Her evils
flamed from the very beginning of the play with her lack of sincerity in professing her love for her
father:
Sir, I love you more than word can wield the matter; Dearer than eyesight, space, and liberty; Beyond
what can be valued, rich or rare; No less than life, with grace, health, beauty, honour; As much as
child e er loved, or father found; A love that makes breath poor, and speech unable. Beyond all manner
of so much I love you. (I.i. 56 62)

I think the time I would say I felt sympathy for her was when she killed herself because she saw the
person she had become, in a matter of speaking. This shed some light in that we must come face to
face with the question of if she regretted her actions, and SOMEWHERE deep down inside, her icy
heart was beginning to thaw. To some degree, I find her a tragic character in this regard. Could she
have redeemed herself if she had lived? Did she really deserve to die?
Cordelia is the epitome of goodness in Shakespeare s King Lear. What shall Cordelia speak?/ Love,
and be silent (I.i.63 64). These words echo a reminiscent time when loyalty to the king and one s
father was paramount. King Lear, Cordelia s father, planned on dividing his land among his three
daughters, but for a price, the price of their love. While her sisters exaggerated their love for their
father to win the prize, Cordelia stayed true to herself and her loyalty to Lear by not making a
mockery out of her feelings for him and playing it cool. She was also not characterized by her
openness of her feelings. She was a quiet girl who kept emotions locked inside. Even so, Lear got
angry at her response and disowned her. Why such a brutal attack on his daughter? Cordelia is known
to be Lear s favorite and he had hoped that he could give her the largest piece of land so he could
reside on it with her, but the plan failed. Overall, the King s decision lead him and his

The Basic Principles Of Biological Criminology
The basic principle of biological criminology comes from the belief people are born criminal through
genetic inheritance or physiological predisposition to crime as written by Mclaughlin and Muncie
(2013, p. 26). Early theorists such as Cesare Lombroso identified criminals by their distinctive
physical features such as by their Large cheekbones, thick eyebrows and flat nose . Lombroso (1897)
claimed in his later work only a third of criminals were actually born criminal which means we should
be able to spot a criminal by looking at them because of their features. Lombroso classified criminals
into 4 major categories including born criminal . Studies have been carried out to isolate the genetic
factor and theory assuming people are born criminals due to genetic inheritance. The types of research
that were carried out to test whether we inherit criminal genes which cause us to offend are twins
studies (identical and fraternal), adoptees and family studies. Several attempts were made to test
biological and genetic theories. A study of 3000 prisoners in London in 1910 s found a strong link
between criminality of spouses and between children, siblings and their parents. It was then greatly
argued that criminality was passed down through an individual s inherited genes. Further study from
the Cambridge study in Delinquent Development established in 1960 s suggested crime did run in
families. Studies showed the link between one convicted family member leading to another

The Boy In The Striped Pajamas Text Response
Looking over this picture it makes me think of how badly the Jews were treated and how bad they
wanted to escape. Jews had been beaten, neglected, and starved. They were taken away from their
families and some even killed in front of their loved ones. They would not even stay at one place for
very long, they would travel from camp to camp because of the war. It is terrible how they could take
someone because they were a Jew and not even know anything about them. It is not that the Jew did
anything wrong it is simply just because they are Jews.
Secondly, when I look at this picture it makes me think of the movie we watched, The Boy in The
Striped Pajamas and the book that we are reading Night. The person to the left of the picture is
wearing striped clothing, just as the boy was in the movie. Therefore, it is like this man was once
inside one of the concentration camps. In addition, this man appears to be hanging on a barbed wire
fence. It is as if he was trying to escape.
Knowing that in the movie the only thing separation the boy in the striped pajamas from the outside
world was the barbed wire fence. The photo makes me think of how miserable everyone inside these
camps were. They want so badly to escape that they kill themselves or do something that they know
the Nazis would not accept just so they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Technology In Ray Bradbury s Short Story The Veldt
Imagine a world with technology that can do everything for you. All you have to do is ask, or even
just think, for something. It is an amazing high tech world, but human relationships are destroyed.
Everyone is so invested in technology they don t engage with each other. Soon, the world becomes a
cold, lonely society where technology is in power. This could become our world in the future. In the
short story, The Veldt . Two parents, George and Lydia, believe something is wrong with their
nursery(a high tech room that portrays scenes). For it seems their children, Peter and Wendy, have set
the room to a murderous African Veldt with horrid creatures of death(death, vultures). Then, the
parents start to believe the children are spoiled rotten by the technology that ... Show more content on

This piece of evidence shows the children using the nursery to possibly kill their parents. The children
use this harmless piece of technology, meant to strengthen minds, to harm others. Things like this
happen all the time in real life. People go online and hack into accounts to steal identities and money.
People have also turned harmless pieces of technology into weapons, just like Peter and Wendy. When
people turn technology into sinister devices to harm other, it lowers the quality of life. As stated in The
Veldt, The two children were in hysterics. They screamed and pranced and threw things. They yelled
and sobbed and swore and jumped at the furniture. You can t do that to the nursery, you can t
(Bradbury 9). As shown in the evidence, Wendy and Peter freak out once their parents shut off the
nursery. The kids completely overreact, because they are so attached to the technology. This happens
all the time in real life as children throw tantrums when their phone or other technology is taken.
There has even been times, like in the story, where kid murder their parents due to taken devices.
People become so attached to their devices that it blocks their common sense. They go to

Belly Dancing History
Dancing is not just a hobby, dance illustrates many aspects of one s life. Dance develops control
balance, posture and focus. It is a nonverbal way of communicating to an audience. Dances tell
stories, express moods and most importantly Is the core of culture. Dancing helps people of a culture
show and express their customs.
One of the oldest forms of dance is belly dancing. Tracing its history all the way back to the Middle
East, Mediterranean and northeastern Africa, this dance originated as a fertility ritual. Sisters and
friends of the women giving birth would assist the mother by performing this dance. While
performing this dance the women would sway their hips side to side in a snake like motion, while their

Americans became very fascinated by this new form of dance that they had never seen. Many people
got a hold of this dance and began to start performing it. The evolution of belly dance has changed in
many ways but has also remained the same throughout the many centuries and countries it has been
performed. It is enjoyed by many people and many different cultures. It still offers a community all of
ages and aids women in gaining self confidence and self empowerment. When belly dance was
originated it was used as an aid for birth and to calm the pain. A very famous performer Shakira who
Is a Columbian singer and dancer has aided in popularizing belly dancing. In many of her music
videos she performed this dance and anytime I think of belly dancing I automatically associate it with
Shakira. Cultural appropriation is when something is taken from a culture and performed by someone
else with out crediting where it originated from. In many of her music videos Shakira performs this
dance and is wearing the beaded skirt with the short cropped top. By Shakira performing this dance
and popularizing it she did not express where it originated and the true meaning behind this dance.
Many people then associate this dance with Spain and Columbia because that is where Shakira is
from. The true origin of this dance comes from the middle east and is mistaken by many people
because of how popular Shakira created it to

In the city state of Babylon the people had be ruling the land for years and the surrounding cities have

spending the same amount on advertising as they did when they were in the old, smaller store. To start
off, I would recommend to increase their advertising by the percentage increase in their new store
size: 50%. Also, Hallstead s should consider adding internet advertising to increase its market size.
This may be an opportunity for cheap advertising. The sales commission is an unnecessary cost that is
not practiced by Hallstead s competitors. The managers should take away this variable cost to increase
profitability. By making these changes, adding promotions and advertisement, taking away an
unnecessary variable cost this would increase profitability and pull Hallstead s out of its declining

Great Dungeon Malphas Essay
Great Dungeon Malphas was a nearly infinite dungeon. With one thousand floors it s depth s had
never been seen by the sentient races living on the surface. Many mighty heroes had attempted to clear
this dungeon, and many more had fallen victim to its traps and servants. The hero that had delved the
deepest and survived, refused to descend into it once more. He proceeded to spend the money he
gained and expended his influence to purchase a vast swath of land around the dungeon.
Nearly seventy years since and Heinrick the legendary dungeon crawler, the man who had nearly
conquered Malphas, was returning to the dungeon. He had with him an item he spent his remaining
wealth searching for and obtaining. It was rumored to be able to instantly teleport you to a dungeons
core, at the cost of all but ten days of your remaining lifespan. Most people would never try to get
their hands on an item like this, much less use one.
But Heinrick had a vendetta against this dungeon. What those who worshiped him didn t know, is that
this dungeon had cursed him. At his level he should have nearly eighty years left and still be looking

Gelatin Essay
Research Question:
What is the effect of the amount of pineapple in gelatin on the viscosity of that gelatin by measuring
the mass of pineapple added (g) as a function of the viscosity (s) of the gelatin after 5 hours of
refrigeration?
Background Research:
Gelatin is a protein that is composed of byproducts of animal bones, tendons and ligaments ( What is
gelatin made ). These specific parts of the body (connecting tissues) are made up of a protein called
collagen ( Why can t you put pineapple ). Collagen is a fibrous protein and is the most commonly

After the five hours is over, remove each bowl of gelatin from the refrigerator.
8. Now, the viscosity of each bowl of gelatin must be calculated. This step will require the use of the
marble, graduated cylinder and the gelatin.
9. Firstly, the density of the marble must be calculated. This can be done with the formula d=m/v. M
stands for mass and V stands for volume. You can measure the mass by weighing the marble on a
scale. The volume can be calculated with V=(4/3) x pi x r3. The radius (r) can be measured by
measuring around the marble, which will give you the diameter, and then dividing it in half to get the
radius. Be sure to record this measurement as the density of the marble in a table.
10. Next, the density of the gelatin sample must be calculated. This can be done using the same d=m/v
formula. In order to do this, firstly, the graduated cylinder must be placed on a scale and measured
whilst empty. Then, pour 70 ml of the gelatin into the cylinder. Now, weigh the filled cylinder.
Subtract the weight of the empty cylinder from the filled cylinder s weight. The number you receive
will be the mass of the liquid. The volume of the liquid is 70 ml, as that is how much you poured into
the cylinder. Plug these numbers into the original formula to obtain the density of the liquid. Record
this number in your

Friday Night Lights Argumentative Analysis
In the pilot episode of Friday Night Lights, star quarterback Jason Street suffers a career ending spinal
injury. In the midst of the chaotic turn of events, Coach Eric Taylor leads his team in prayer: We are all
vulnerable, and we will all, at some point in our lives... fall. We will all fall. We must carry this in our
hearts... that what we have is special. That it can be taken from us, and when it is taken from us, we
will be tested. We will be tested to our very souls. We will now all be tested. It is these times, it is this
pain, that allows us to look inside ourselves (Berg). This moment is about more than football, it is
about facing adversity. Although Coach Taylor s intent is to comfort the boys during a difficult time,

On the other hand, in real life, athletes are stuck with the outcome and its impact. It seems that in other
areas of life, this is understood. Over exaggerated and unrealistic courtroom, hospital, and cop show
dramas serve as a form of entertainment, so unfairness is accepted. However, sports are viewed as an
escape from reality in which the good guy has a chance (Phillips). However, the reality of the situation
is that the myth of sports being morally rewarding is as much a part of society as sports being an
escape when morality fails (Phillips). Essentially, in fictional sports, the outcome of the game does not
determine whether the hero is successful. In this genre, accomplishments are measured in whether the
hero exemplifies his virtuous nature. The reality of the game being fictitious enables the plot to take
on a more intricate meaning, which is exemplified in football themed television series Friday Night

Normalization Through Montessori Method
Explain how normalization occurs including changes in the work cycle.
Describe the normalized child.
Dr. Montessori used the term normalization to distinguish one of the processes that she saw in her
work with the children at San Lorenzo in Rome. This process, the process of normalization, occurs
when development is proceeding normally. She used the word normalization as she believed that these
wonderful traits, these impressive qualities belonged to all children and was not a characteristic found
only in some children.
Through her work at Casa dei Bambini, Dr. Montessori observed an extraordinary change in her
students. When the children first came to her school, they were completely traumatized. Neither could

The movement and the thought involved in the preparation of the mind to begin to focus on the
activity. The activity which so engrosses the child that he reaches a deep level of concentration, and
then the time a child in putting away the materials, perhaps talking with friends, and is exhibiting an
aura of satisfaction with him and the world. We recognize this cycle as the normal ‘cycle of activity
in a Montessori environment.
Experience has shown the disappearance of many childish traits through Normalization. Children
usually have a fickle mind and move from one toy to the next. Their minds seem to wander about and
they constantly seem preoccupied within themselves. They are unable to take on work or any activity
for longer than perhaps an hour. Dr. Montessori recognizes these traits along with others as deviations
or defensiveness. However once a child is offered a task that is practical and requires concentration, if
a child is trusted to do something that is realistic and requires responsibility, given the freedom of
choice, the freedom of doing work suited to his or her own needs, they then reveal not only their
capacity for intellectual accomplishment but a strange character of sweetness and serenity. As they
work, they grow in inner discipline and peace. An interesting piece of work, freely

The Hollow Hope By Gerald Rosenberg
The Hollow Hope by Gerald Rosenberg is based on one research question. That question is: Can the
Court bring about significant social change? In examining this question Rosenberg presents two
different views of the Court. The dynamic court view believes that the court is an excellent catalyst for
social change while the constrained court view believe that there are constraints in place that prevent
the court from making significant change. The constrained court believes that it is only when these
constraints are lifted and certain conditions met that the Court can have an effect on social change. To
explore his question Rosenberg looks into different court cases in which believers of the dynamic
court view think had the most impact on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One thing that he does not make so clear is what he constitutes as significant social change, and how
he will measure what that exactly.
In reading the book Rosenberg does seem to give a hint of bias toward the constrained court as being
more correct, as it appears he spends less of his time arguing for the dynamic court view. However it
may not be bias that is perceived, but just that through his investigation he has found that the
constrained court view is a more accurate representation. There are some parts in the book where
Rosenberg almost asks too much of the Court for the dynamic court view, which makes it appear that
he is setting up the dynamic court argument to fail. As Feeley (1992) mentions in his review of the
first edition of The Hollow Hope, Rosenberg makes his arguments as a lawyer would, which by
definition sets up his opponent to fail and as his conclusion as the most obvious choice. With this in
mind one could conclude that Rosenberg sets up the dynamic court view to fail on purpose to make
his point more clear. There are some points throughout the book where there is a correlation for the
dynamic court that it means there is nothing there, whereas when there is a correlation for the
constrained court he uses that as a point to prove his conclusions.
The sources that Rosenberg used are dependable sources, and he presents the information that the
sources provide in a

Sign Music Personal Statement
I have wanted to study abroad since I was young, and will have the opportunity to do so next year at
the University of Quebec. There, I will study French and hopefully a bit of music in hopes to pursue
my lifelong goal of learning. I believe with education and willingness the world is without borders!
Originally from the area, I graduated from Shepherd High School in Isabella County in 2012, and was
honored to have been the Maple Syrup Queen my graduation year. In high school was very involved
with the choir program, and loved singing. I had a little exposure to French, but at the time I was more
curious about American Sign Language (ASL). When I went to Central Michigan University I decided
to pursue my greatest passion, vocal music, with a minor ASL. I am currently in my senior year in

two years of my involvement within the department I did not complete the minor. In pursuing ASL, I

Everybody has their own opinion of why people encounter personal problems, shaping their belief of
what makes therapy helpful. My theory posits that a combination of individual and systemic factors

Buck s Transformation In The Call Of The Wild
Buck, the main character in Jack London s novel Call of the Wild undergoes drastic change from
living in his cozy house in California to trudging the cold and dreary lands of the Klondike. London s
novel describes the life of Buck, a simple housedog who is used as a bet and is then brought to an
unfamiliar territory, and an unfamiliar lifestyle. Buck becomes a sled dog, learning as he goes. His life
is vastly different from what it was once, and he has to adapt and evolve to his new routine. Along the
way, Buck endures new challenges such as his struggle for leadership, his willingness to relinquish
power to his owner, and internal struggle of wanting to be both wild and civilized. In Jack London s
novel, Call of the Wild, main character Buck evolves from a domesticated pet, into a wild, power

this death as cutting the ties to his former life of shelter, and he proceeds to join and rule a pack of

The Stereotypes Of Reality Television
What once started as every day, regular people appearing on television shows have now morphed into
celebrities and want to be celebrities competing for attention and doing almost anything to receive it
on primetime television. The genre of television, which was once jumpstarted by the appeal of
relatable people, who could be the viewers next door neighbors, being featured has since disappeared
and been replaced by a monstrosity that does not accurately portray reality and often stereotypes
people (Huff). One specific group that has been targeted by what reality television has morphed into is
women. The new version of reality television is specifically adequate at encouraging gender culture,
the set of behaviors or practices associated with masculinity and femininity (Huff). Reality television
enforces gender roles and negatively impacts feminism in today s society. Reality television sexualizes
women, portrays them as dependent on and less superior to men, and exemplifies them as dramatic,
catty, and often only as homemakers. The portrayal and stereotyping of women on reality television is
demoralizing and can be described as the contemporary backlash against feminism ( Reality TV ).
These false and demeaning stereotypes are prevailed in all types of reality television shows, making
their impact extensive, considering Americans spend one third of their spare time watching television
and of that time sixty seven percent is spent watching reality television ( Reality

When Ayn Rand wrote The Fountainhead, she intended to keep the syntax simple so readers could get
an understanding of Objectivism and individualism. We can clearly see that the protagonist, Howard
Roark, is portrayed as an objectivist and individualist, who also rejects the worst of social standards,
while Lois Cook is seen as a radical, who objects the best of social standards.
When we go even further into The Fountainhead, we discover that Howard Roark loves his type of
modernistic design in architecture rather than referring to the older and more identifiable types of
architecture from history, such as Greek or Roman architecture. Because he prefers to modernize his
own designs, he is suspended from Stanton s institute of technology and has been removed from
several jobs. Roark was offered a job to build a new bank, but he won t change any of his own
designs. The worst part about Howard Roark s out of luck situation is that his designs are

designs are wonderful and unique to the eyes of people. Even then, when Howard Roark isn t given
credit for designing the buildings, credit was all given to Keating, who didn t have enough faith for
himself to, at the least, attempt to create his own architectural designs. While we continue to look at

Pedagogy Of The Oppressed By Paulo Freire
Paulo Freire s book Pedagogy of the Oppressed analyzes the issues of different styles and techniques
of teaching. Whether it be at school, home, or by a parent education can be pushed upon you in
different forms. These manners of education can treat people as objects; use forms of paternalism due
to authority over someone, and restrict people from having freedom and responsibilities. One of the
mechanisms Freire talks about is banking education:
Education thus becomes an act of depositing, in which the students are the depositories and the teacher
is the depositor. Instead of communicating, the teacher issues communiqués and makes deposits,
which the students patiently receive, memorize and repeat. This is the banking concept of education,
in which the scope of action allowed to the students extends only as far as receiving, filing, and
storing the deposits.
Ever since I can remember I always noticed I would be in classes in school that portrayed banking
education in some form. In this essay, I will talk about my college history class and how it functions,
the perspective I have about my teacher, and how I m able to pass the class. Last fall semester is when
I started college here at Del Mar. I had only enrolled in three classes, and being how I was only a

things slow. The class that stood out to me the most, concerning banking education, was my history

Father Stereotypes
Negativity Towards Fathers: Incapable Stereotype
Fathers have been degraded in many movies, television shows, and commercials as incapable and
incompetent. Stereotypes are socially constructed by society and the media. As humans tend to label
people by what we are taught and see through the media. This stereotype arrived from the 1950 s and
1960 s sitcoms that relied on the incapable father to keep the viewers entertained. The sitcoms in that
day and age featured a 5 o clock dad...with a newspaper as a face (Quindlen 101). In the 1950 s and
1960 s sitcoms fathers would be portrayed as coming home from work at 5 o clock and sitting on the
couch reading the newspaper and most likely drinking beer waiting on dinner. At this time period the

As social media has grown over the past few years so have the use of the incapable father stereotype
and all round every stereotype. As social media exploded new ways of expressing the incapable
stereotype online videos show fathers incapability in the household, not being able to take care of the
kids or clean the house and other household task. Memes and other pictures have surfaced the social
media buzz over the incapable father highlighting how fathers are seen as solely for going to work and
coming home and sitting on the couch and drinking beer. Much like the way Peter Griffin is shown in
Family Guy. Peter is shown in many episodes watching television with a beer in his hands telling
Louis to do something for him. Many fathers can very well balance their work life and life at home.
Fathers see that they are not supposed to be able to handle both work and home but with many more
women working they have to pick up the extra task in the house to make things work. Many fathers
are fighting the stereotype when it is shown in commercials and various television shows. Saying that
the times are different than in the 1950 s and 1960 s when the stereotype was maybe more true than it
is today. It is known that now more women are out working that in the past leaving more men to help
with the kids and household work. Peter in Family Guy is shown as evidence that the media today
does not see fathers as the head of the household and fills them with a lack of faith that people see.
Although the stereotype is still famous in the entertainment world as Family Guy is still reviving great
numbers, society may stray away from the stereotype in the

determines who wins the Big West and who qualifies for the NCAA tournament, so pressure on the
players and intensity are very high. Throughout the game, I observed the game as a sport psychologist

three sport psychology concepts that were interpreted during the soccer match were: situational

One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The player s situational awareness has a huge impact on the ball movement because they know where
each player will be during certain situations and are able to make quick decisions under pressure, thus
moving the ball more efficiently. Another observation that portrays situational awareness was when
the goalie of Cal State Fullerton predicted where the ball was going to be kicked during the attempted
score of a Long Beach State player. Instead of waiting for the opponent to kick the ball and then
reacting, the goalie predicted where the ball was going to travel and jumped as the opponent was
making the kick to deflect the ball. According to Weinberg and Gould, athletes who have good
situational awareness, always make it seem as if they are a step ahead of everyone else. The goalie
was able assess the situation quickly and stay a move ahead of her opponent because she had been in
this situation in the past. Her situational awareness gave her a competitive edge, allowed her to make
the appropriate decision, and prevented Long Beach State from scoring any points. The second
concept of sport psychology displayed during the soccer game was the use of arousal regulation
strategies. Arousal regulation strategies are methods that either increase or decrease arousal levels of a
person (Weinberg Gould, 2011). It is crucial for athletes to be aware of their psychological states so

It seems to be that Mather makes this deduction with guidance from his observations and is his driving
force behind writing Wonders. He feels as though the Devil is running rampant through the colony
that he has poured his heart into and also that it is a personal attack against him. Even though he
understands everything that is taking place, he doesn t have the power as a single person to destroy it.
All of this comes as though Mather knew this would happen to the colony at a certain point. This
preface can be seen when Mather begins to discuss how the Ephesians were rejoicing in God s gospel
and the Devil began to try and dismantle all of their joy (151). The whole situation seems to be a
prophetic experience for Mather which leads to him realizing how rooted the Devil is in his colony
and the destruction that he is causing. He later goes on to state that, the devil has made a dreadful knot
of witches in the county implying, once again, the rooted aspect of the Devil (152). This expresses one
of the true characteristics of why Mather brought Wonders to life; he wants people to understand the
true magnitude of what is happening and the reason behind

Relationship Between Darcy And Elizabeth Bennet
The Evolution of the Relationship of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet Whether a relationship between
two characters remains strictly platonic or will eventually become bound by romance, many factors go
into how that relationship evolves. Where the evolution of a relationship is concerned, one must
recognize the importance of how not only the characters themselves affect the progression of the
relationship, but also how outside factors make an impact. Many components of Jane Austen s novel,
Pride and Prejudice, affect and lead to the evolution of the relationship of Fitzwilliam Darcy and
Elizabeth Bennet, including both internal and external influences. Throughout Pride and Prejudice, the
relationship between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy evolves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whether the influences were internal or external, many components of Jane Austen s novel, Pride and
Prejudice, affect and lead to the evolution of the relationship of Fitzwilliam Darcy and Elizabeth
Bennet. Although many different aspects of the novel made an impact on the evolution of their
relationship, the individual factors tended to fuel their own pride and prejudices, something that not
became the root for any obstacles that attempted to prevent their relationship from evolving, but also
became a basis for their relationship to

Spelman College Reflection
I feel just as right now, this was not the time or the spot for Spelman College to have wiped out an
occasion managing wellbeing concerns. Jackie Donahue life was in question here, and there was a
probability of discovering a contributor here in Atlanta, GA. Jackie was relying upon somebody in this
world to be a benefactor, so that way she could be carry on with her life and keeps on meeting
expectations and bring up her youngsters. All as a result of an express feature that was discharged
before that week by her sibling, Nelly, Spelman chose they would not like to host the occasion any

they guarantee that ladies ought to just feel annoyed by their music on the off chance that they fit into
the class in which they are talking about. Despite the fact that I do listen to the music, I do discover
this clarification to a degree truthful in light of the fact that I don t be feeling affronted on the grounds
that I know of the ladies they are talking about isn t me, I don t do the things or depict myself in the
ways that the craftsmen be portraying. In any case I do feel just as if there is a youthful youngster out

Purple Rain Analysis
In 1984 s Purple Rain, the title track is fictionally written and arranged by the women in Prince s
character s (simply known as The Kid ) nightclub band. Out of egotism, The Kid refuses to play any
of their compositions. After stage flubs and personal trauma, a humbled Kid performs Purple Rain in
dedication to his father. He moves the audience, and regains the respect of his peers. It s considered
his finest moment (and a defining point in the film). Art imitates life, because if I had to name one
song that encompasses all that I ve described about Prince s music and his methods, I d say Purple
Rain. Welcome to my #1 favorite, everyone. I know, I know, how cliché, but clichés are so for a
reason. Whatever they re about has stood the test of time and can be applied over and over. Purple
Rain is a timeless classic and goes on the Songs That Should Never Be Remade list with Sam Cooke s
A Change is Gonna Come and Etta James At Last. It endures because it s one of the most emotive
pieces of music there is. The hopelessness that comes with not being able to prevent or reverse a loss
pulsates in every word, note and chord from the first transfixing strum. The heartbreak swells with
Rain s multiple peaks, predominately characterized by wailing guitars, falling strings and Prince s
pleading vocals. He sings of regret with such intensifying anguish, it erupts into howls around the last
3:00 minutes. Yeah, the last 3:00 minutes of 8:43 total. You don t notice (I caught

The World s Second Largest World Economy
Question Two:
China has risen from the Third World status in 1979 to become the second largest world economy
behind only the United States. The Japanese economy was the world s second largest for decades until
it was surpassed by China in 2010, and it remains comfortably the world s third largest. South Korea s
economy, 15th largest in the world, is three quarter as large as Spain and 44 percent bigger than turkey
s. All three nations are important world trading nations (Moran, Abramson, Moran, 2014). Both
Japanese and Korea cultures have been significantly influenced by the diffusion of Chinese culture. A
critical factor distinguishing Asian cultures from that of other peoples is their ancient philosophies and
religions. Confucian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today, in order to align with the change of the global world, it will be change to reasonable with
electronic communication. If I were responsible for a multicultural workforce with persons from Japan
are language and communication, time, values and standards, decision making and so on. First,
language and communication is complex, subtle, and predictable. Second, it is very important to be on
time, in Japan, most everything will run on time. Third, values and standards the dominant Japanese
ethos includes familial relationships, loyalty, conformity, and the collective good. Then decision
making is important too, the Japanese value decision by consensus, before action is taken, much time
is spent on defining the question. If I were responsible for human resource management in an
American/Chinese joint venture in China training, some of difficulties I might face are China is a
culture that values harmony in interpersonal interactions, perceive conflict is easily interpreted as loss
of face or disrespectful. Chinese are not comfortable making recommendations or suggestions
publicly, understanding nonverbal signal is the key to work with Chinese people (Moran, Abramson,
Moran, 2014).

Calpurnia Discrimination Quotes
Cry about the hell white people give coloured folks (Lee pg 170) stated Mr.Radley to Scout, Jem and
Dill. In the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee focuses on the main theme of racism. During
the 1930 s racism played a huge role in society for African Americans who faced discrimination and
segregation. The common occurrence of this theme is expressed throughout relations with individuals,
societal discrimination and law injustice for blacks. Racism can and does impacts the relationships
with individuals whether it is an employee, close friend or a family member. A white upper class
family, the Finch s, consisted of a father, Atticus, and two kids, Jem and Scout. The family also
employed a black woman named Calpurnia, as a housekeeper to raise the kids, but she had always felt
like family. Aunt Alexandra, on the other hand, did not feel the same way about Calpurnia; she did not
believe a black woman should raise white children. She mistreated and discriminated Calpurnia. As
Alexandra arrived, her first words were Put my bag in the front of the bedroom Calpurnia (Lee pg
129); Calpurnia picked up Aunty s heavy suitcase and opened the door. (Lee pg 129) Alexandra s
greeting implies how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Setting Analysis Of To Build A Fire By Jack London
Setting Analysis of To Build A Fire Today, children are always told to live for the moment. Not to
worry about the little things and to live as if there will be no tomorrow. Almost as if what is done
today will not affect tomorrow. In reality, every little thing people do will impact them in some type of
way. For every choice or decision someone makes, there is a consequence that comes with it. This
consequence can be major, minor, good, or bad. In Jack London s short story To Build A Fire , readers
are taken along on a journey with a naive man and his dog as they battle the extreme winter conditions
of the Yukon. One of the driving forces to the story s plot is the harsh setting in which this journey
takes place. The setting enforces the ominous mood of the story as well as reveals information about
the man. While doing so, the setting also conveys the idea that with every decision or action there is a
consequence that must be faced. The setting of To Build A Fire is not one that is warm and inviting.
Instead, it is one that is frigid and frightening. Many layers of snow on the surface make it seem as if
there is an intangible pall over the face of things (London 569). For miles all that can be seen is a
sheet of white and the dreariness of the vacant land. The temperature is well in the negatives and the
winds are strong. The sun has not been out in days. With every step the man takes, nature throws
another obstacle into his path. This is an environment that is

If anyone was caught doing so they risked imprisonment. According to King Edward that the game was far too violent and noisy, that it caused too much chaos, and that when soccer was played, many evils arose. The game was deemed indecent and vulgar. Many of the sheriffs in England at the time ensured the suppression of the game, and later kings and queens also considered the game indecent. Both King Henry the IV and the VIII put laws into effect that disallowed the violent sport. Later, Queen Elizabeth would threaten to put any player of the game in prison for a week s time and force them to follow up such action with penance through the church. In the early 1680s the sport was officially sanctioned in England. By the 1800s the game grew in popularity so much that there were yearly contests held in middle and northern England. What s more, the allowance of such gaming did nothing to diminish the violence of the sport. A game held in Derbyshire in the late 1820s revealed that there were lost hats, torn coats, broken heads, and broken skin among players. In 1815 the Eton College devised official rules for the game. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They are the people we love to hate and yearn to watch burn. Goneril, of Shakespeare s King Lear, is no exception. Her evils flamed from the very beginning of the play with her lack of sincerity in professing her love for her father: Sir, I love you more than word can wield the matter; Dearer than eyesight, space, and liberty; Beyond what can be valued, rich or rare; No less than life, with grace, health, beauty, honour; As much as child e er loved, or father found; A love that makes breath poor, and speech unable. This shed some light in that we must come face to face with the question of if she regretted her actions, and SOMEWHERE deep down inside, her icy heart was beginning to thaw. To some degree, I find her a tragic character in this regard. Could she have redeemed herself if she had lived? Did she really deserve to die? Cordelia is the epitome of goodness in Shakespeare s King Lear. What shall Cordelia speak?/ Love, and be silent (I.i.63 64). These words echo a reminiscent time when loyalty to the king and one s father was paramount. King Lear, Cordelia s father, planned on dividing his land among his three daughters, but for a price, the price of their love. While her sisters exaggerated their love for their father to win the prize, Cordelia stayed true to herself and her loyalty to Lear by not making a mockery out of her feelings for him and playing it cool. She was also not characterized by her openness of her feelings. She was a quiet girl who kept emotions locked inside. Even so, Lear got angry at her response and disowned her. Why such a brutal attack on his daughter? Cordelia is known to be Lear s favorite and he had hoped that he could give her the largest piece of land so he could reside on it with her, but the plan failed. • 9. The Basic Principles Of Biological Criminology The basic principle of biological criminology comes from the belief people are born criminal through genetic inheritance or physiological predisposition to crime as written by Mclaughlin and Muncie (2013, p. 26). Early theorists such as Cesare Lombroso identified criminals by their distinctive physical features such as by their Large cheekbones, thick eyebrows and flat nose . Lombroso (1897) claimed in his later work only a third of criminals were actually born criminal which means we should be able to spot a criminal by looking at them because of their features. Lombroso classified criminals into 4 major categories including born criminal . Studies have been carried out to isolate the genetic factor and theory assuming people are born criminals due to genetic inheritance. The types of research that were carried out to test whether we inherit criminal genes which cause us to offend are twins studies (identical and fraternal), adoptees and family studies. Several attempts were made to test biological and genetic theories. A study of 3000 prisoners in London in 1910 s found a strong link between criminality of spouses and between children, siblings and their parents. It was then greatly argued that criminality was passed down through an individual s inherited genes. Further study from the Cambridge study in Delinquent Development established in 1960 s suggested crime did run in families. Jews had been beaten, neglected, and starved. They were taken away from their families and some even killed in front of their loved ones. They would not even stay at one place for very long, they would travel from camp to camp because of the war. It is terrible how they could take someone because they were a Jew and not even know anything about them. It is not that the Jew did anything wrong it is simply just because they are Jews. Secondly, when I look at this picture it makes me think of the movie we watched, The Boy in The Striped Pajamas and the book that we are reading Night. The person to the left of the picture is wearing striped clothing, just as the boy was in the movie. Therefore, it is like this man was once inside one of the concentration camps. After the five hours is over, remove each bowl of gelatin from the refrigerator. 8. Now, the viscosity of each bowl of gelatin must be calculated. This step will require the use of the marble, graduated cylinder and the gelatin. 9. Firstly, the density of the marble must be calculated. This can be done with the formula d=m/v. M stands for mass and V stands for volume. You can measure the mass by weighing the marble on a scale. The volume can be calculated with V=(4/3) x pi x r3. The radius (r) can be measured by measuring around the marble, which will give you the diameter, and then dividing it in half to get the radius. Be sure to record this measurement as the density of the marble in a table. 10. Next, the density of the gelatin sample must be calculated. This can be done using the same d=m/v formula. In order to do this, firstly, the graduated cylinder must be placed on a scale and measured whilst empty. Then, pour 70 ml of the gelatin into the cylinder. Now, weigh the filled cylinder. Subtract the weight of the empty cylinder from the filled cylinder s weight. The number you receive will be the mass of the liquid. The volume of the liquid is 70 ml, as that is how much you poured into the cylinder. Plug these numbers into the original formula to obtain the density of the liquid. Record this number in your ... Dr. Montessori used the term normalization to distinguish one of the processes that she saw in her work with the children at San Lorenzo in Rome. This process, the process of normalization, occurs when development is proceeding normally. She used the word normalization as she believed that these wonderful traits, these impressive qualities belonged to all children and was not a characteristic found only in some children. We recognize this cycle as the normal ‘cycle of activity in a Montessori environment. Experience has shown the disappearance of many childish traits through Normalization. Children usually have a fickle mind and move from one toy to the next. Their minds seem to wander about and they constantly seem preoccupied within themselves. They are unable to take on work or any activity for longer than perhaps an hour. Dr. Montessori recognizes these traits along with others as deviations or defensiveness. However once a child is offered a task that is practical and requires concentration, if a child is trusted to do something that is realistic and requires responsibility, given the freedom of choice, the freedom of doing work suited to his or her own needs, they then reveal not only their capacity for intellectual accomplishment but a strange character of sweetness and serenity. In examining this question Rosenberg presents two different views of the Court. The dynamic court view believes that the court is an excellent catalyst for social change while the constrained court view believe that there are constraints in place that prevent the court from making significant change. One thing that he does not make so clear is what he constitutes as significant social change, and how he will measure what that exactly. In reading the book Rosenberg does seem to give a hint of bias toward the constrained court as being more correct, as it appears he spends less of his time arguing for the dynamic court view. However it may not be bias that is perceived, but just that through his investigation he has found that the constrained court view is a more accurate representation. There are some parts in the book where Rosenberg almost asks too much of the Court for the dynamic court view, which makes it appear that he is setting up the dynamic court argument to fail. As Feeley (1992) mentions in his review of the first edition of The Hollow Hope, Rosenberg makes his arguments as a lawyer would, which by definition sets up his opponent to fail and as his conclusion as the most obvious choice. With this in mind one could conclude that Rosenberg sets up the dynamic court view to fail on purpose to make his point more clear. There are some points throughout the book where there is a correlation for the dynamic court that it means there is nothing there, whereas when there is a correlation for the constrained court he uses that as a point to prove his conclusions. Whether it be at school, home, or by a parent education can be pushed upon you in different forms. These manners of education can treat people as objects; use forms of paternalism due to authority over someone, and restrict people from having freedom and responsibilities. One of the mechanisms Freire talks about is banking education: Education thus becomes an act of depositing, in which the students are the depositories and the teacher is the depositor. Instead of communicating, the teacher issues communiqués and makes deposits, which the students patiently receive, memorize and repeat. This is the banking concept of education, in which the scope of action allowed to the students extends only as far as receiving, filing, and storing the deposits. Ever since I can remember I always noticed I would be in classes in school that portrayed banking education in some form. The player s situational awareness has a huge impact on the ball movement because they know where each player will be during certain situations and are able to make quick decisions under pressure, thus moving the ball more efficiently. Another observation that portrays situational awareness was when the goalie of Cal State Fullerton predicted where the ball was going to be kicked during the attempted score of a Long Beach State player. Instead of waiting for the opponent to kick the ball and then reacting, the goalie predicted where the ball was going to travel and jumped as the opponent was making the kick to deflect the ball. According to Weinberg and Gould, athletes who have good situational awareness, always make it seem as if they are a step ahead of everyone else. The goalie was able assess the situation quickly and stay a move ahead of her opponent because she had been in this situation in the past. Her situational awareness gave her a competitive edge, allowed her to make the appropriate decision, and prevented Long Beach State from scoring any points. The second concept of sport psychology displayed during the soccer game was the use of arousal regulation strategies. • 41. Purple Rain Analysis In 1984 s Purple Rain, the title track is fictionally written and arranged by the women in Prince s character s (simply known as The Kid ) nightclub band. Out of egotism, The Kid refuses to play any of their compositions. After stage flubs and personal trauma, a humbled Kid performs Purple Rain in dedication to his father. He moves the audience, and regains the respect of his peers. It s considered his finest moment (and a defining point in the film). Art imitates life, because if I had to name one song that encompasses all that I ve described about Prince s music and his methods, I d say Purple Rain. Welcome to my #1 favorite, everyone. I know, I know, how cliché, but clichés are so for a reason. Whatever they re about has stood the test of time and can be applied over and over. Purple Rain is a timeless classic and goes on the Songs That Should Never Be Remade list with Sam Cooke s A Change is Gonna Come and Etta James At Last. It endures because it s one of the most emotive pieces of music there is. The hopelessness that comes with not being able to prevent or reverse a loss pulsates in every word, note and chord from the first transfixing strum. The heartbreak swells with Rain s multiple peaks, predominately characterized by wailing guitars, falling strings and Prince s pleading vocals. He sings of regret with such intensifying anguish, it erupts into howls around the last 3:00 minutes. Yeah, the last 3:00 minutes of 8:43 total. You don t notice (I caught ... In the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee focuses on the main theme of racism. During the 1930 s racism played a huge role in society for African Americans who faced discrimination and segregation. The common occurrence of this theme is expressed throughout relations with individuals, societal discrimination and law injustice for blacks. A white upper class family, the Finch s, consisted of a father, Atticus, and two kids, Jem and Scout. The family also employed a black woman named Calpurnia, as a housekeeper to raise the kids, but she had always felt like family. Aunt Alexandra, on the other hand, did not feel the same way about Calpurnia; she did not believe a black woman should raise white children. She mistreated and discriminated Calpurnia. As Alexandra arrived, her first words were Put my bag in the front of the bedroom Calpurnia (Lee pg 129); Calpurnia picked up Aunty s heavy suitcase and opened the door. • 44. Setting Analysis Of To Build A Fire By Jack London Setting Analysis of To Build A Fire Today, children are always told to live for the moment. Not to worry about the little things and to live as if there will be no tomorrow. Almost as if what is done today will not affect tomorrow. In reality, every little thing people do will impact them in some type of way. For every choice or decision someone makes, there is a consequence that comes with it. This consequence can be major, minor, good, or bad. In Jack London s short story To Build A Fire , readers are taken along on a journey with a naive man and his dog as they battle the extreme winter conditions of the Yukon. One of the driving forces to the story s plot is the harsh setting in which this journey takes place. The setting enforces the ominous mood of the story as well as reveals information about the man. While doing so, the setting also conveys the idea that with every decision or action there is a consequence that must be faced. The setting of To Build A Fire is not one that is warm and inviting. Instead, it is one that is frigid and frightening. Many layers of snow on the surface make it seem as if there is an intangible pall over the face of things (London 569). For miles all that can be seen is a sheet of white and the dreariness of the vacant land. The temperature is well in the negatives and the winds are strong. The sun has not been out in days. With every step the man takes, nature throws another obstacle into his path. This is an environment that is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
