Delillo Harsh Words
At first look, American novelist Don DeLillo s words sound harsh on the idea of traveling
abroad. Upon further review and personal analysis, DeLillo s harsh words and personal analysis,
the harsh words speak truth. As strange as it sounds, travelers are more confident in sounding
stupid in far off places rather than being at home. Travelers understand that there is going to be a
communication barrier but are still willing to sound stupid to communicate with others. But why
are they still so confident in their stupidity? Is it because the first few days, weeks, months in a
new country is basically like being thrown in the deep end of a swimming pool, unsure of one s
own abilities and not knowing what s going to happen next fight or flight.... Show more content on

China is a dominating country with a long, graphic history; an economy worthy of getting into
business with; and stories that are unlike any other. The relationship between general economic
development and tourism is a tale as old as time, whether it s businesses agreeing to tourism in
their city or in literature where the results proved to be true. Tourism is often seen by governments
as a tool for economic development, in particular areas such as employment, entrepreneurial
opportunities, development in rural regions, generate tax revenues, and so much more. In 2012, a
study by Zeng et al discovered that domestic and international tourism in China is becoming a
booming industry. In reality, tourism in China has actually been declining slightly since 2007.
This is because of the Chinese Yuan, (whose full title is Yuan Renminbi, abbreviated as RMB)
and the fluctuations of the exchange rate causing the price of traveling to China to increase as
well as decrease in personal interest. The recent recessions in America and Europe has led to
Americans and Europeans being less willing to travel to China and contribute to the Chinese
market. In recent years, air pollution and food safety problems have arisen, causing some foreign
visitors to worry about travel conditions and even cancel their

Nydera A. Washington s My Family Tree
The capstone report that I decided that I wanted to read is Nydera A. Washington class of 1995.
Her topic is My Family Tree. The items that make up her honors portfolio are as follows; All In
The Family, An Unforgettable Summer, The Ethics of Medicine, Deadly Temptation, The Evolution
of Gospel Music, An Honor s College Reflection. I absolutely enjoyed reading Ms. Washington
capstone and not because she is originally from New Jersey. Ms. Washington begins her capstone
examining her ancestor background. She sums up her family s success in the last paragraph by
stating, my family has both triumphed and struggled, some courageously faced the oppression of
their day [...] embracing arms of the white race. Washington moves on to discuss one of her worst
summers at the University of Rochester. She participated in this research since her freshman and
she felt that she did considerably well. However, the energy was very negative at the predominantly
white institutions. When she spoke about her goals and aspirations in a learning environment she
was frowned upon. Next she conducted a study using diagrams on Pyrazolones using three parts.
She continued a research assignment based on the Ethical Issues In Medicine Reproductive and
Genetic Technology. She believes that some technological advancements can be detrimental... Show

teased growing up and her best friend past away from a car accident, she did not let this hinder
her. When I read success stories it inspires me to preserve through my struggles. Essentially what
I got from this capstone is that it does not matter what is on the outside it s who is on the inside.
The Skin I am In is the exact antithesis of the first capstone I ve read. I thought it was very
organized , and everything flowed from her skin condition. This capstone was also easy to

Affirmative Action In The 1960s
In June of 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson asked in an emphatic address, why the black
inhabitants had fallen behind the white majority during the two decades since the end of World War
II. He accentuated the need to embrace audacious new policies and originated an extensive new
government policy called affirmative actionto aid the disabilities following from two centuries of
brutality and unfairness. The objective of this policy was to defeat the accrued human mutilation
triggered by Jim Crow and 350 years of slavery and also to guarantee further advancement toward
equality. For an example, African Americans being victimized simply because they are black and
for no other reason. This type of bigotry infringes basic norms of fairness. But... Show more content

Affirmative action from the 1960s has generated a more diverse society and it focused mainly on
opportunities for middle class African Americans pursuing an approach to exceptional jobs and
higher education. Affirmative action has done more to advance fair treatment across racial lines
than any other recent public policy. If affirmative action did not exist, the United Stateswould be a
vastly more segregated country. Without such efforts, most white Americans would have far less
contact with their fellow black citizens. (171) In other words, without affirmative action, diversity
could no longer survive. Black Americans would be stigmatized and condemned as a subordinate
group even more so. In the 1978 Supreme Court case of the Regents of the University of
California v. Bakke, Justice Lewis Powell offered firm standards for racial modification. He argued
that adjustments to color blind strategies could be commenced to remedy race based detriments
when two circumstances are met. There has to be a pure connection to affirmative action s
remedies and past harms based on race. Also, the tie between past actions and present policy
must be sturdy and accurate. Powell also believed if there is a non racial way to chase a
specified goal, that way should always be the preferred route. Affirmative action is legitimized
because the detriment of blacks in the Roosevelt and Truman years satisfies Powell s strict
scrutiny test. Combining Powell s principles and Johnson s ambitions . . . push us forward to a
framework for public policies that can respond to the injuries inflicted by officially sanctioned

A Report On Training Program
At week 4 or 5, I will add the plyometric training; she will start at a low intensity and gradually
increase it to improve her vertical jumps.
The resistance training program consist of three days a week, allowing Tonya recover between
workouts. Aerobic training involves two days to improve her cardiorespiratory endurance. Her
program involves more anaerobic exercises because basketball consist of short burst of intense
activity. The phosphagen and the glycolysis are the dominant energy systems in basketball.
Conditioning training will improve her speed, agility, coordination and endurance. Sprinting
intervals help athletes to buffer their lactate, short to moderate bouts of maximal intensity
significantly improve players ability to remove lactate, thereby enabling them to realized lower
sprint times later in the training session (Holmberg, 2010). Conditioning exercises include sprint
intervals, defensive shuffles and drills to improve the lactate tolerance of Tonya, as well as, her
speed, agility, and power.
The focus of the preseason is to improve her strength and power and to familiarize Tonya with
specific exercises that mimic the sport. She will be taught to perform lifts properly using a full
range of motion. During the first weeks, the volume will be moderate while her body is adapting
to the changes. Moreover, prior to each workout, she will do 5 10 minutes of warm up to prepare
the muscles, joints, and tendons for the exercise. At the end of the workout, she

Know It All Ne er Do Wells In the article A Generation of Slackers? Not So Much , by Catherine

generation to have ever existed. Rampell begins her article with a staggering fact: The
unemployment rate for 16 to 24 year olds is a whopping 17.6 percent (Rampell 388). And
according to seventy five percent of Americans, Today s youth are less virtuous and industrious
than their elders (Rampell 388). This may seem like an incredibly high percentage of Americans,

sure that one of the biggest factors in this lazy younger generation belief is the technological
advantages we have at our disposal. The older generation views our willingness to use these
advancements as working smart, and not hard , which in their minds, makes it seem like we
prefer to take the easy way out. This is more than often not the case! I am sure that if millennials
did not make use of our resources, some would consider us to be ungrateful . This alludes to an air
of hypocrisy among older generations. Whether we utilize the advancements available to us or not,
I believe that generations before us will always view Millennials as ungrateful and

The Impact Of Divorce On Young Adults
The Impact of Divorce on Young Adults
Bridget Cook
Lindenwood University Abstract
This paper explains the factors of parental divorce that have the greatest impact on young adults,
including social support, parental involvement, and the ability of the divorced parents to co parent.
The information in this paper are based on research of three professional journals and one article
from a website. Several studies indicate that young adults have better post divorce outcomes if there
is continued social support, continued quality involvement between parents and children, and if the
divorced parents are able to have a quality co parenting relationship.
Numerous studies have been conducted to determine the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

According to Dr. Constance R. Ahrons, researcher of the Binuclear FamilyStudy, children and
young adults are able to recover from the stress of parental divorce.
For example, on global outcome measures, each concludes that the immediate distress surrounding
parental separation fades with time and that the great majority of adult children (75% 80%) are
functioning as healthy adults. In addition, all reported that divorce presents certain risks, is an
emotionally stressful and complex transition for families, and continues to affect children into
adulthood. (Ahrons, 2007, pg. 55).
Another common finding from the three studies is that the experience of parental divorce itself was
not the key factor producing a negative impact on children but, a lack of parental involvement
resulting from the divorce seemed to be the factor that resulted in negative impact. Negative impact
includes but is not limited to low self esteem, academic difficulty, sexual promiscuity and problems
with developing intimate relationships.
A subsequent study on the impact of divorce on emerging adults conducted by Block Spiegel found
that, Social support moderately predicted self esteem beyond what would expected due to chance.
(Block Spiegel, 2014). Some indicators of social support are parental involvement, financial
support, and quality visitation. These factors were all contributors to higher self esteem in
emerging adults. As social supports

Outline Of Different Cultural Beliefs
For example, Buddhists believe their souls after death either are put back into the life cycle or
they reach Nirvana. This can convince a Buddhist family to find reassurance in knowing their
loved one has a chance of reaching a sacred place. The practices religions take on in the
remembrance of their loved one can also change the steps of grief. Most of the religions listed in
An Outline of Different Cultural Beliefs shows each religionhas their own way of holding some
type of ceremony where they pray, sing, or tell stories of the deceased. In those same religions,

In each culture there are right and wrong ways to express emotions. This is similar to how
different cultures greet each other. For example, in the United States it is very common to see a
greeting through a handshake, while in France they usually shake hands then kiss each other on
each cheek. Therefore, when looking at the rights and wrongs of expressing grief, it is just as
diverse as greetings from culture to culture ( Cultural Greetings 1). For instance, in areas of
Britain, it is common to not express one s anger. Instead, the person should keep all of their
emotions hidden, but this can cause a large build up of emotions, naturally causing a person to be
stuck or take longer to get out of steps of anger, fear, or depression. ( The KГјbler Ross Grief Cycle

Obstacles Affecting Anadromous Fish Populations
Anadromous fishes reproduce in freshwater then their progeny migrate to the ocean where they
grow and mature then return to freshwater to reproduce. These fishes encounter numerous barriers
during their freshwater migration. Migration barriers (e.g. dams, water storage projects, irrigation
diversions, impassable culverts, etc.) are significant factors affecting most anadromous fish
populations. The primary effects of barriers on anadromous fishes are the reduction of their
population abundance and productivity through excessive mortality, and reduction in habitat
quantity and quality (NMFS, 2008).
Towler et al. (2015) defines a fishway as hydraulic structures and devices that provide continuous
pathways for fish to move over or around otherwise impassable barriers. Many existing fishways
were designed for adult fish, and where present, adult salmonids. Designing fishways for a multiple
species is of growing interest in the United States, Canada, and other countries. However, rivers
with greater biodiversity require fish passage solutions that accommodate a wide range of fish sizes,
swimming abilities, and migration strategies (Bunt, et al., 2012).
Additionally, current fishway designs have been shown to possess attributes that hinder their ability

determining where passage is potentially possible for adult salmonids. This analysis will then be

Keynes Theory Of Business Cycles Essay
Keynes Theory of Business Cycles
Introduction
A business cycle refers to a phenomenon of alternating periods of expansion and contraction in
economic activity. In many cases such as have been witnessed in free market nations including the
USA and Great Britain, economic growth is characterized by long run upward GNP growth,
followed by large periodic short run fluctuations in economic activity. The economic period
associated with high income, output and unemployment, is also known as upswing expansion or
prosperity. The economic period associated with low income, output and unemployment is also
referred to as downswing, contraction, recession or depression. These economic fluctuations are
called trade cycles because they tend to occur in a recurrent manner (Knoop, 2009, p.39). Although
various theories explain this phenomenon, this essay analyzes Keynes theory of trade cycles and
explains how banking or finance comes into perspective.

As can be seen from figure 27.0 above, business cycles occur in four distinct phases including:
Expansion, downturn, recession, and recovery. He first phase is the expansion phase which may

upper turning point. The third phase is the contraction which may also be referred to as downswing,

to overcome many challenges such as wondering who she is going to become, having judgmental
peers, and the very difficult challenge of being poor. While her friends are growing up around
her, like Sally, she is left struggling to let go of childhood during this rough time. I think Esperanza

she sees her friend get married and abused, she no longer wants to grow up into the situation that

amount of time to appreciate it. Once Esperanza settles into her new home on Mango Street, she
begins to explore her surroundings and slowly admire them. Because she is growing older and
wiser, plus she knows that this is a permanent house that she can get used to, she slowly realizes
that there is a positive side to what she has even though most would say it s not much. The music

universal format of researchreports where there is an abstract in this case the summary, an
introduction and the body of the research. We can tell that this is a report of a new research

purely about the social scientists, his life and his views. This is not a review of any existing

views.it talks of him being a great French scholar. He was among US social scientists though he
was not known quite well. He played an important role in the developing U.S National science
Foundation s early efforts so as to provide funds for social sciences. The article also expresses his
belief on the value that statistical work holds. This is thus the reason why he was not shy when it
came to giving critics on certain tendencies even in the public domain (Pooley, .Solovey, 2011).

Similarities And Differences Between Beowulf And Iliad
Beowulf and Iliad are some of the most famous stories in literature. In both stories we can see
how the characteristics of heroic is presented in many sorts of different ways. Although they
bear some superficial similarities, the differences between Beowulf and Iliad are clear. They
both involved heroic events, but the settings and the way both stories are being told involved
many dissimilarities. The both heroes in the stories are also interacted with supernatural beings
and many different sorts of events. In Beowulf we see characteristics such as bravery, loyalty,
honor, superhuman physical strength, and the willingness to risk his life for the greater good.
Beowulf shows bravery when he hears about how Grendel is attacking the Hrothgar and the hall.
Grendel was attacking the men at night and Beowulf wanted to go help. In his far off home

anywhere in this world heard how Grendel filled nights with horror and quickly commanded a
boat fitted out, proclaiming that he d go to that famous king, would sail across the sea to
Hrothgar, now when help was needed. (Beowulf 111 116) In this section we see how Beowulf was
not afraid to go up against Grendel . He shows his willing to risk his life for the greater good when
he is not afraid to go up against the dragon in his last battle. I ve never known fear, as a youth I

Period Of Susceptibility In Kittens
1.The period of susceptibility, as defined in the present study, is a critical period in which vision is
developed. The researchers discovered that the period of susceptibility in kittens has a sudden onset
at the beginning of the fourth week of life. A gradual decline in the period of susceptibility is seen
sometime between the sixth and eighth weeks of life and continues through the end of the third
month of life. By the end of the third month and the beginning of the fourth month, the period of
susceptibility disappears.

Figure 9 contains two ocular dominance histograms of the left visual cortexes (9A and 9B) in
which two kittens had a period of monocular deprivation in their right eyes during the first three
to four months of their lives. In Figure 9A, both eyes were kept open for thirty months and then
the results were recorded, which shows ocular dominance in the left eye (expected based on the
research). However, in Figure 9B, following the original period of deprivation in the right eye,
the kitten s left eye was then sutured closed for a complete year, after which remained open with
the right eye for four years and ten months. The results of this cat were recorded at age six years
and one month. One may expect the results in Figure 9B to show ocular dominance in the right
eye due to the fact that the left eye was closed for a longer period of time (roughly 8 months).
However, the results instead show ocular dominance in the left eye like Figure 9A does. This can
be explained based off of the research that the period of susceptibility ends around the fourth
month of life. Because the right eye was deprived during the period of susceptibility, but the left
eye deprivation occurred after the conclusion of this sensitive period of cell growth and connection
formation, the left eye displayed dominance. This again suggests that the length of deprivation does
not necessarily matter as long as it does not occur during the period of

Mass Media Has A Strong Effect On Adolescent Female...
In our society, mass media is something we are all a part of in our daily lives. When we wake
up in the morning until we go to bed at night, we are a part of mass media. From the minute, we
sit down at the computer, or if we decide to turn on the television or flip through a magazine.
Mass media is in the magazines we read and there are advertisements everywhere we look. This is
who we are in this culture today but within this mass amount of information streaming around us,
there also seems to be the common theme of the perfect body. Yes, sex sells as many seem to
think but what is this portrayal really doing to those who are younger and growing up is this

Laissez Faire Vs Government Intervention
Laissez Faire vs. Government Intervention A Laissez Faire economy is where there is little to no
government interference between two private parties. A Laissez Faire economy with no
government intervention generates many possibilities for economic and social growth. Although
this concept seems like an ideal model for the American culture some could dispute this view, and
say that governmentinterventionwithin the economy should be the main way business should be
conducted in the economy. When the government intervenes between two private parties the
government acts as the intermediary between the two parties and can settle any problems that may

With that being said government intervention would be the ideal concept of the economy for
democrats. In the past America has suffered from economical crisis. A prime example of this is the
Great Depression that negatively affected the American economy. Many American lost all their
money through the stock market and inflation was at an all time high. With government
intervention, the government can regulate the up s and down s of the economy and make sure this
scenario does not happen again. Another advantage of government intervention is that the
government keeps in mind all interests of the American economy, poor and rich. The government
can regulate how taxes are dispersed according to the economical class of the individual. This
would mean that the rich getting a larger percentage of their income taxed compared to the lower
classes. This concept would ultimately help stimulate the economy as a whole would assist in the
poor becoming the rich. In conclusion the basic goal of Government Intervention is to make the
country as a whole a more efficient and productive environment that helps

Plastic Advantages And Disadvantages
Look at the things around us sunglasses, lunch boxes, ball point pen, and many kinds of
products we use every day; look at the garbage bags lie on the street, and the water bottle lies on
the beach... many things around us are made of plastic. As a result, plastic is one of the most
used materials in our daily lives. Admittedly plastic has some advantages; however, the
disadvantages outweigh its advantages because of it is hard to decompose, wastes resources and
contains toxic and harmful substances. For instance, plastic is very hard to degrade. The molecules
in plastic are strong, so it is hard to break the bond between atoms in it. Based on the scientific
research, one plastic bag needs approximately 200 years to decompose into soil. It will lead to
plenty of environmental problems. According to Yamashita, Takada, Fukuwaka, and Watanuki,
there is a marine pollutionin the Pacific Ocean, which kills a large amount of marine life. The
researchers claimed the process of biomagnifications in which is about small fish ingests plastic
which concentrates with their bodies. When larger birds eat them, they will absorb those toxic
substances as well. As this process upgrades, human eats the species which contains toxins, they
will become sick as well. These are caused by overuse of PVC plastic. The polluted area is fitting
in the area that people use plastic products, and the pollution level in the Pacific is in proportion to
the amount of PVC plastic products. This concludes

mental illness is that it is not physically apparent. In our world it is easier to have a broken bone
than a broken mind. Past and present methods of treating people with mental illness are barbaric,
impersonal and a gross mixture of over and under diagnosing. We as humans have complex brains
so it shouldn t come as a surprise that things sometimes go wrong. But from lobotomies to mental
asylums and turning innocent people with minor conditions into zombies with the use of
medication ,the people and system of our society has failed and keep failing to provide the care
needed to treat mental illness. But just how deep is the level of our failure? Let... Show more

Whereas in the 60s, people were being taken to mental hospitals and given overbearing care, now
to get help is becoming increasingly difficult. In Canada the waiting list are growing and many
can not afford the help they sorely need. According to Canadian Mental Association The total
number of 12 19 year olds in Canada at risk for developing depression is a staggering 3.2 million
(Fast Facts) and many struggle to receive help. We ve gone from the societal notion that being
crazy is appalling and needs to be removed from society, to a social acceptance that almost
diminishes the importance and severity of mental illness. We need more social programs
available for everyone suffering from mental illness and understand that there is a difference
from normal human emotions like anxiousness and sadness, and anxiety and depression. Many
people suffer in silence and struggle to deal with mental illness in plain sight in fact 20% of
Canadians will personally experience a mental illness in their lifetime (Fast Facts about Mental

Information on the Distinctive White Beluga Whale
BELUGA WHALE
1) In 2009, a captive beluga whale rescued a diver during a free diving competition. 2. Belugas
are gregarious and live in social groups of 2 25 individuals (the average group size is ten). 3.
Belugas are unique among cetaceans in that the vertebrae in their necks are not fused together. This
gives their heads added manueverability.
2) The beluga whale, or Delphinapterus leucas, is the only member of its genus. It shares the
Monodont family with one other species, Monodon monoceros, otherwise known as the narwhal.
They are in the sub order Odontoceti, which contains 74 species, and the order Cetacea, which
contains 89. This in turn is part of the mammalian clade Cetartiodactyla.
3) Beluga whales are born dark gray, but within 8 years their coloration changes to a distinctive
white. The species sexually dimorphic, whith males roughly 25% larger than females. Males
weigh between 1,100 and 1,600 kg and are 3.5 5.5 m in length. Females range between 700 and
1,200 kg, and between 3 and 4.1 m in length. They are Arctic and sub Arctic, inhabiting the Arctic
ocean and its adjacent seas. Belugas are adapted to a range of habitats including open oceans,
shallow coasts, ice flats, and warm water estuaries. Some populations migrate annually while others
remain in an area year round. The global population is estimated between 60,000 and 80,000
individuals.
4) Belugas were once thought to live up to 30 years, but this is contested by a recent study that
estimated up to 70

How I Changed My Life
Throughout my life I ve gone through many obstacles, up and downs, and changes that could
more than likely affect me forever. Looking back to this time last year I can say I am not the
same person I was. I can say around this time last year I was very content with how things were
in my life. I felt things were going to happen the way they did, and that was just how it was
going to be. I had a little self motivation but it was not enough to where I could actually believe
myself. There were times where I would wonder where I would be in the next three or four years
and have no clue, and then ask myself what have I done to prepare myself for that time when it
comes. Now, there is not one bit of doubt that I will not be successful in whatever my future
presents me. I feel I am way more self driven today than what I was a year ago. I am chasing the
same dream just with a total different attitude now. Five years ago I would of been at the
beginning of my Junior year of highschool I would be having the time of my life. My Junior year
I had no worries, the only thing on my mind was playing football. Back then I m not sure if I
took anything serious at that time, I just knew I had that year and the next to try and get a
football scholarship somewhere. I was getting recruited by Oklahoma State University so I felt
like I was the man, on top of having a little popularity at my school. Other than that it was all about
having fun with my friends. Today I still feel people should take

Microsoft s Visual Basic And Oracle s Java Essay
The need for more powerful and user friendly software grows exponentially every year. This
means that there is a higher demand for better quality and more versatile software. Higher quality
software that is versatile and consistent was very difficult to create for developers before object
oriented programming was created. The object oriented programmingmethod of utilizing objects
and methods has revolutionized the way programmers create new applications. By allowing
objects to be reusable and flexible, this allows more time to be spent on creating meaningful
coding tasks with less time coding GUI s (Gaddis Irvine, 2014, p. xvii). Microsoft s Visual Basic
and Oracle s Java are object oriented programming languages that are very powerful applications
which contain many similarities while having small differences in the syntax and the usage of
elements that are common to both. Microsoft has been producing software for many years. They
have a multitude of applications such as Excel, Word and Visual Basic. The first version of
Visual Basic was introduced in 1991 by Microsoft and is still being utilized to create applications
today (Gaddis Irvine, 2014, p. xvii). By offering backwards compatibility throughout different
versions of Visual Basic, it is easy to update and utilize the new features of this versatile software
(Gaddis Irvine, 2014, p. xviii). Visual Basic is software that creates applications by using the Object

Conservative M.P Boris Johnson s satirical article Don t let Ed Miliband sink this country with his

Johnson uses the headline with metaphorical words and diminutive language in order to portray
how Ed Miliband will cause a downturn in the U.K Don t let Ed Miliband sink this country with
his commie slab of rock . The use of the metaphorical word sink connotes the idea of the connection
Miliband has with regression as the country will be ruined if he comes to power. Furthermore,
Johnson uses the diminutive commie slab in order to decrease the importance of communism.
Johnson uses the word commie instead of communist to indicate the ridicule ideology that Miliband
presents. Hence, the headline, which s purpose is to catch the attention of the reader, directly
associates communism with regression therefore a threat to the British country. The headline
facilitates Johnson fulfil his purpose of entertain the Conservative reader as the headline causes

ideology to previous unsuccessful communist regimes as if this were East Germany circa 1973...
Johnson uses this metaphor in a satirical way to compare Miliband s actions to the once
communist East Germany, which is constantly seen as the grey Germany. East Germany was also,
in comparison to West Germany underdeveloped; when Johnson contrasts Miliband s actions to
East Germany he is associating Ed Miliband or Red Ed with Communism and regression. By
doing so, Johnson portrays Ed Miliband as a threat to Britain yet still in a satirical way, aiding

Abstract Five days after graduating highschool, I left my hometown for the United States Navy.
The dress code was simple: hair needed to be cut a certain way, creases in my uniforms were to
be exact, mandatory clean shaven face and my medals/ribbons needed to be in their proper place
and perfectly aligned to standards. Once I retired, reality set it when I assumed the role as a
Human Resourcess Manager or Director. Skirt lengths, open/closed toed shoes, cleavage (both
front and rear), piercings and tattoos are just a few of the items I was responsible for in

issues, legal responsibilities and a bit of personal humor and insight into the ordeal of
establishing a dress code policy that will regulate your appearance. In addition, this paper will
add some of my trials and pitfalls when establishign policy that might help some of my colleagues

who have to pay high medical bills because their insurance does not cover certain procedures and
allows them to seek help from the Texas Department of Insurance so that through mediation the
bill can be balanced (New Law Helps Patients). This shows that there is agreement between the
policy goals of TMA and West since their vision includes improving the health of all Texans
which the bill, which is now law, helps with since Texans have the opportunity to be assisted so
that medical bills can be reasonably paid for (Vision, Mission, and Goals). An additional bill that

which has to do with the emergency medical personnel that is allowed to transport patients to

of large scale mediation can literally affect the world as a whole, and may prove to be a key for

Management Theory and Practice
Who has not dreamed of being a manager? Being in management for some people can be a love
hate relationship. Some will say it is an easy job and others will disagree. The author (Nichole) will
select one of the management theories in the textbook then she will explain the elements that are
the foundation of the management theory she selected. Furthermore, she will explain how the
theory identifies the roles and skills of the manager. Then she will describe three management skills
necessary for the effective management of an organization. Lastly, she will outline three
management roles in relation to the management of people and organizational processes.
The theory chosen was classical management theory. Classical management theory according to
the book was originated during England s Industrial Revolution, which began in the late 1700 s
with the invention of reliable steam powered machinery (Plunkett, Allen, Attner, 2013, p. 37). The
classical management theory focused more on the one best way to perform and manage tasks
(Plunkett et al, 2013, p. 37). Using the steam powered machinery made it possible for
manufacturers to not depend on water and wind. Using steam powered machinery also made it
possible to produce more products. The more products a factory can make the more people they
will be able to sell the product to. This means more money

Automated measurements of mitochondrial transport in hippocampal and cortical neurons.
Mitochondria are transported to synapses by kinesin motor proteins. We have recently described
methodologies for the automated analysis of fast mitochondrial transport from data acquired using
a robotic microscope. We focused on addressing questions of measurement precision, speed,
reliably, workflow ease, statistical processing, and presentation. With it, we are able to generate
complete descriptions of movement profiles in an automated fashion of hundreds of thousands of
mitochondria with a processing time of approximately one hour. We also described the calibration
of the parameters of the tracking algorithms and demonstrate that they are capable of measuring the
fast transport of a single mitochondrion. We then show that the methods are capable of reliably
measuring the inhibition of fast mitochondria transport induced by the disruption of microtubules
with the drug Nocodazole in both hippocampal and cortical neurons. While proteins, RNAs and
vesicles as well as mitochondria are transported to synapses, our automated analysis methodology
will be useful for assessing the effect of compounds in modulating transport of mitochondria, a key
cargo of kinesin relevant for synaptic plasticity and implicated in several neurodegenerative

The Black Family In The Age Of Mass Incarceration
In the eyes of many, mass incarceration constitutes a brutal technique of punishing individuals for
excessive periods of time. There are many reasons to be doubtful that the system of mass
incarceration has helped the nation in any form. Rather, locking up millions of people for
nonviolent crimes seems just too excessive and redundant. According to The Black Family in the
Age of Mass Incarceration by Ta Nehisi Coates published in The Atlantic magazine, the majority of
those incarcerated are minorities mainly African American. More clearly, the technique of mass
incarceration is used to limit the numbers of minorities in society or control the minority
population. Regulations regarding incarcerating millions must be reviewed thoroughly on a federal
level and refine precedent to a better future. What major actions must be taken into account to
change the turmoil of mass incarceration? Is it possible to adjust the law in reparation for a better
future? The United States has the highest number of prisoners compared to any country in the
world according to Denis J.Madden published in the America Magazine. Imprisoning hundreds of
thousands African Americans has been significantly effective in society for several years. The

Misrepresentation Of The English Reformation
Out of the many Protestant reform movements in the sixteenth century, the English Reformation is
arguably the most multifaceted. With numerous individuals involved, and countless theological
perspectives represented, it is tough to identify all the sides politically and relationally involved
over the course of approximately a century of radical change. While many might contemplate that
the simple goal of this movement was a corrupt king s desire for divorce which certainly was an
underlying cause the formation of Anglicanism had many twists and turns on its journey to become
what is believed by many to be the least radical and perhaps most stable compromise between
observance of ancient tradition and Protestantism, which is now termed the via... Show more content

Proponents of this theory claim that the English Reformation was commenced by Henry for
dynastic motives, was inflicted and coerced from above, and was predominantly a political tactic.
As distorted as this revisionist interpretation is, the classical perspective is also inaccurate. A.G.
Dickens and other advocates for this understanding summarize, The received view assumed that, in
spite of some resistance, the Reformation agenda was welcomed with open arms by the nation as a
whole. It was primarily a theological movement. The Church was ripe for Reformation: a surge of
reforming ideas met with an enthusiastic reception in a populace deeply disillusioned with the
corruption, superstition and obscurantism of the late medieval Church. A more balanced
understanding of the circumstances leading up to, during, and following the English Reformation
reveal that both perspectives are perhaps equally simplified as well as miscalculated. The full
weight of Henry s impetuses as conceited as they might be undoubtedly carried categorical
developments to the ecclesiology of the church in England, as well as its relationship to Rome and
other nations, in a very conclusive and pronounced manner; this was no secret to those living in the
sixteenth century, and is just as unequivocal today. However, the intricacies encompassed by the
cast of characters involved in the tangible restructuring of both the temporal and spiritual
foundations of England as a commonwealth during the Protestant Reformation are numerous and
disorienting at best. The Reformation in England was not the uneventful, sustained intentness of a
consistent plot, envisioned in the intellects of any one party. Instead, it was a multifaceted,
accidental, convoluted succession of incidents. Christopher

How Uniformity Has Become A Major Part Of Military...
Uniformity has become a major part of military lifestyle since before the Revolutionary War.
Every item on a uniform has its own purpose and standards and should be held to that
standard.Whether its from the number of belt loops all trousers have, to the significance of left
over rights on the boot sales, every Marineshould be held accountable for ensuring all pieces of the
uniform are in its proper place.
The main uniform used today for all branches of service comes in many different patterns. For
Marines, there are two different uniforms, woodland MARPAT and desert MARPAT, or utility
uniforms. These are intended for wear in the field, or on working parties. but have become the
typical uniform for working on a daily basis, especially in Garrison or on deployment. The
MARPAT is designed to break up the wearers shape, and to identify a Marine as a Marine and not
any other branch of service. The Utilities we wear depend on the time of year and the region the
Marine lives in. For example, Marines on the west coast of the U.S. wear desert utilities in the
spring and summer months. Also, because we are in a desert environment, we wear these.
Woodland utilities are worn in the winter months due to the changing of the seasons and is also
because of the rainy, greener climate. on the other hand, those Marines on the east coast and over
sees wear woodlands year round because they are not in a desert environment, but a tropical or

Character In Matthew Riley s Scarecrow
Character is readable because of its virtual identity, which in effect promotes an imaginative
gestalt for the figure (Cohan, 1983). The major difference between a film and a novel is the
increased subjectivity of what a character looks like, how they sound and the area they are
surrounded in purely because it is up to the reader to imagine these things. This essay will analyse
Matthew Riley s international best selling novelScarecrow, and how he introduces characterfirst
through describing the surrounding areas and how he gives certain personality implications of the
character through these descriptions. Then the subsequent physical introduction of the main
character will be analysed, and how that ties back to the personality... Show more content on

Schofield is incredibly courageous, and as a result, Riley has described the surroundings to open
the novel with perfection. Schofield, the main character, is subsequently introduced to the reader,
and the first thing we find out about him is that he has become a target in the greatest bounty
hunt in history. Before the reader can even begin to imagine what Schofield looks like, Riley has
already given the impression that he is a tough man with seemingly a lot of enemies, which would
further suggest that he has lived through an action packed life. This is all before even knowing
what colour hair the man has, or if he is big or small in stature, which is a credit to how Riley has
introduced the character to the reader without even introducing him at all.
Riley then begins to describe Schofield, first of all further expressing the personality of the
character with his sunglasses. He writes, The grey Siberian sky was reflected in the silver lenses
of his wraparound anti flesh glasses. The glasses concealed a pair of vertical scars that cut down
across Schofield s eyes, wounds from a previous mission and the source of his operational
nickname: Scarecrow, (Riley, 2003). While Riley is now describing the physical aspects of the
main character, he continues to imply who the character is as well as what the character looks like.
The reflective silver sunglasses further suggest the courageous, heroic traits of the character as has

Why Were The Colonial Days So Important
The Colonial days
By: Gabriella Freiberg
Why were the colonial days so important?
The colonial days were so important because if we didn t have these settlers come and build the
colonies, we wouldn t be living here today. The 13 colonies that have made up this land are New
Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania,
Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. There were so
many things they did to get food, water, resources, and etc. They were very creative people and
used lots of different inventions to live and get resources that they didn t have. One was the
triangular trade route. The name was given by the route which the goods from the colonies were
taken back to Europe. Europe made the things they traded for and sold them back to another
territory. While the triangular trade route started in the 1500 s it really didn t start working until
the mid 1600 s. Not all tribes used the triangular trade route some tribes just used their own
inventions to get from place to place. They had many jobs back then to keep the places running.

negative stigma placed on people of color first formed by the harsh language used present during
slavery in the cases of Dred Scott v. Sandford(1857) and Plessy v. Ferguson (1896) assisting in the

indicating slaves as less than a person. This proves the mindset that Caucasians concluded
people of color were not deserving of the acknowledgement of obtaining the same rights that the
majority enjoyed. Identically, just as equivalent as the case Dred Scott v. Sandford, Plessy v.
Ferguson harnesses the language of entitlement. The case paints the picture of a mulatto man,
Plessy, obstinate to sit in the white coach. The plaintiff claims, Upon the other hand, if he be a

is not lawfully entitled to the reputation of a white man, (Plessy v. Ferguson, 2014, pg. 549). In
other words, because Plessy occupies a contrasting skin color, he cannot be human; as a result,
anyone from African descent was denoted as a purchase. Consequently, if he had light skin, he
could rightfully sit in the coach for the white man is a divine product produced by God. The
mindset at that time period suggests people of color were produced by God to serve for them.

Financing a Worldwide Expansion Strategy for a Limousine...
Introduction My company has become quite successful, and is now considering an expansion.
In order to facilitate this expansion, we are considering purchasing a competitor. My company
is a limousine company, and we have expanded via franchising into a number of different states
and metro areas at this point. We are considering purchasing a rival that operates mainly in areas
adjacent to ours, with the objective of expanding our presence in those markets, and building our
brand. This strategy is part of a plan to grow the business nationwide. Valuation Methods There
are several valuation methods that can be used to analyze the competing company. These are
adjusted book value, capitalized adjusted earnings, discounted future earnings, the cash flow
method and the gross revenue multiplier (Collin.edu, 2013). Another technique is to base the
valuation on the stock market valuation of a similar company. In this case, most limousine
services are not publicly traded, so the stock market option is not available. Thus, the optimal
method will come from the other five options. The adjusted book value of the operation is based
on the idea that we are paying for the firm s book value, in particular with the book value of the
assets or the book value of the equity. This is a decent option, since we can expect to utilize our
own brand, therefore the important part of the purchase is the assets that we are acquiring,
everything from cars to drivers to customer contacts. However,

goods in the place of currency, or offered services and talents for money. Over the past 100 years,
the small businesses and entrepreneurs of America have evolved in ways no one could have
predicted. From the invention of the internet to the sliding scale that is the American economy,
small businesses have seen their times of great success and struggle alike. With the changing
culture, obstacles may morph into opportunities, and, conversely, opportunities can turn into
obstacles. The presence of social media is an opportunity for businesses today but an obstacle for
businesses of the early 20th century; demand was an opportunity for businessowners in the 20th
century but an obstacle today; and economic fluctuation is an obstacle found in both time periods.
Unlike small businesses in the early 20th century, small businesses today can greatly benefit from
social media platforms. Not only can businesses run their own pages online, they can pay for ads
that promote their product in a unique and novel way. For example, social media can allow a
smaller business to grow on their chosen platform (such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) and
increase the amount of potential customers that view their product(s) or service(s). Everyday, there
is an abundance of advertisements uploaded and viewed on several varieties of social media
platforms and [b]ehind these staggering numbers is a

Congenital Heart Defects And Infants
Congenital Heart Defects in Infants
Cynthia Shepherd
Liberty University
Abstract
Congenital heart defects have become more prevalence in infants in the United States. The causes
of congenital heart defects in infants are unknown. However, several factors have been linked to
prenatal factors such as maternal insulin dependent diabetes, maternal alcoholism, maternal rubella
during pregnancy, and maternal age over forty. Many infants have been diagnosed with congenital
heart defects in utero and the first week of life. Congenital heart defects have been detected in utero
with the use of ultrasound in obstetric care. Other congenital heart defects have been diagnosed
during the first week of life with symptoms in infants such as failure to thrive, failure to grow,
feeding intolerance, hypoxia, signs and symptoms of congestive heart failure. The objectives of this
paper are to present overviews of the congenital heart defects and outline the surgical treatments for
the congenital heart defects. Keywords: congenital heart defects, surgical treatments
The heart is a muscular four chambered organ whose primary purpose is to pump blood throughout
the body. The heart is the first functioning organ in the embryo. Its first pulsatile movements begin
during the third week after conception. This early development of the heart is essential to rapidly
growing embryo as a means of circulating nutrients and removing waste product. Most of the

John Proctor As A Hero In Arthur Miller s The Crucible
John Proctor is considered an hero and it shows throughout all the acts in the book of good and
bad. The small town of Salem is submerged in hysteria/fear due to accusations of a group of girls
that was assumed of witchcraft. Among all of them is the main character John Proctor, a husband,
father, and farmer. Proctor s main motivation was to protect his wife and family after he feels
guilty of having affair with Abigail. In the book The Crucible Arthur Miller proves the dangers of
hysteria for a person who is in between a dilemma of being put to death with trying to protect his
wife and to forgive himself through the character John Proctor.
Proctor is a hero in his best effort to protect his wife. John Proctor first example of protecting his
wife when the court witnesses come to take Elizabeth away. In that same act Proctor got frustrated
on the assault on his home that he tears the warrant and tells them to leave saying vigorously Damn
the Deputy Governor ! Out of my house ( Pg.77), showing his secure protection for his wife.
Despite Proctor s strong beliefs, values, and integrity, he is human. Although in his moment of
weakness, he breaks one of the most important commandments of all. Proctor shows signs of being
a hero when he attempted to go into the courtroom to save his wife and prove that the group of girls
were lying. Afterwards, he ended up accusing himself. Proctor continues saying that the children
were lying in court. Proctor thinks from the witchcraft

Step Brothers Movie Analysis
How many 40 year old unemployed slackers do you know? Now imagine 2 of them under the
same roof obnoxiously fighting about childish things. Step Brothers from start to finish is
exactly this displaying 2 outrageously comical actors in Will Ferrell and John C Reilly
bickering back and forth trying to learn how to cope with one another. The glory of this film
comes from the constant one liners that make no sense but fit the film perfectly, the childish
behavior, and the elementary school comebacks mixed in with the adult language which adds a
different but great comical sense that few movies have been able to portray before. Such as
when Ferrell refers to Reilly as a Big, fat, curly headed f*** . This line had me rolling on the floor
due to the seriousness of Ferrell and the reaction of Reilly and the fact that it is a simple 3rd grade
insult with an F bomb thrown in there that just makes it all that more funny. Although Talladega
Nights and the Anchorman trilogy had better storylines none compare to the pure comedythat Step
Brothersprovides. Step Brothers is Will Ferrells most entertaining movie made to date, and is one
that can be watched over and over without losing its humor.
Step Brothers stars Will Ferrell(Brennan: 39 years old) and John C Reilly(Dale: 40 years old).
They both are unemployed stay at home loafers who do nothing besides watch cops and play the
drums. When Brennan s mom Nancy and Dale s dad Robert marry Brennan and Dale are forced to
share a room with

Photosynthesis Research Paper
Photosynthesis is the processes that captures energy from the sunlight to male sugars that store
chemical energy. and cell respiration releases chemical energy from sugars and other carbon based
molecules to make atp when oxygen is presented. and atp is the molecule that transfers energy
from the breakdown of food molecules to cell processes. With all of these process they work
together to capture energy by the sun and convert it into everyg of life. It starts with the
photosynthesis. First, the carbon dioxideand oxygenwill enter the leaves in plants through the
stomata. then the water travels from the roots and will go into the vascular system. then chloroplast
absorbs sunlight. However, there s 2 part in hopothesis. The parts re light dependant and light

And the light independent happens to make atp used to make the glucose. Atp is very important
since cells use it for functions. however, with photosynthesis the cell respiration and photosynthesis
chloroplast absorb the energy from sunlight and build sugras, then the mitochondria will release the
chemical energy to make atp. the cell respiration starts with 3 carbon molecules they enter cell
respiration in mitochondria, and the energy carrying molecules transfer energy to electron
transport. so next the energy carrying molecule which atp molecules are produced. last heat and

Ability Tracking Pros And Cons
Ability Grouping and Tracking
Introduction
Debates about ability grouping and tracking often focus on the conflict between if they both help
the majority and not the just the high achieving students. Ability grouping and tracking in high
school have many positive and negative effects on society. Educationis an important field in
sociology and it has a big impact on how a society develops. Many researchers and politicians
believe that the educational system should be improved. Some believe that ability grouping and
tracking only benefit a select number of students instead of the majority, while those who oppose
argue that it is the most effective way to teach students. The type and quality of education a student
receives can often determine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Historically debates and controversies about ability grouping and tracking have often focused on if
the pros outweigh the cons. No one can deny that both of these practices have benefits and that they
also have many downfalls. Tracking and ability grouping have both been around for nearly a
century. They both have proved beneficial to students and educators, but have unintentionally
created systemic segregation and other problems. There have been many discussions and arguments
throughout the last few decades about whether or not the benefits of ability grouping and tracking
outweigh the cons. These discussions have gained more attention and popularity at certain points in
history. For instance, ability grouping and tracking were both popular topics in discussions in the
eighties and early nineties. Both practices lost popularity in the late nineties, but are now making a
comeback. Both practices have been improved, but they need to be more flexible for students and
educators. History has taught us that ability grouping and tracking are both needed in some form,
but both practices need to continue to develop and improve with

Military History
The military, in modern times, has many purposes. These forces are given high powered weapons
and granted the authorization to use deadly force, while being tasked with carrying out orders from
their government and protecting its interests. Armed forces are also sometimes called upon to
promote political agendas, guard economic interests, enact population control, and conduct
emergency services or construction. Any history of armed conflict is considered to be military
history, however, the profession of being a soldier is older than said recorded history. As seen
throughout this history, when the military goes unchecked by its government or citizens, some
terrible and unlawful acts may occur. By looking into the account of The Massacre

Donald Trump And The President Of The United States Essay
Will Donald Trump fulfill America s request and actually make America great again ? When
friends of mine who are Trump supporters inform me that they support him, I don t understand
the reasons why they picture him as our future president of the united states. Donald Trump has
never been an elected official. He has never been elected into an office of any kind. He s never
had to broker political compromise or gave any political speeches prior to him running for
president. With no experience in politics at all, why would people think he d make a good
president? Sure, Donald Trumpis a barefaced self promoter and experienced businessman. But
people don t realize all of the mistakes he has made as a businessman. Washington, D.C., is not a
type of Wall Street or anything for him to lose money or make some reckless decisions that
would put our country into a deeper hole that we are already into, and also getting multiple
things done within the nation s capital takes more than a huge personality and a strong will. If
Donald Trump is elected to be our president, he ll have to quickly learn how to deal with his
Democratic associates in the House of Representatives and Senate. He ll also have to get used to
the pace of government because there are moments when things can accelerate pretty quickly and
also where things can move extremely slow at times. He ll also have to get used to giving
speeches on topics he may not be interested in, especially when it comes to conversations

Upon further review and personal analysis, DeLillo s harsh words and personal analysis, the harsh words speak truth. As strange as it sounds, travelers are more confident in sounding stupid in far off places rather than being at home. Travelers understand that there is going to be a communication barrier but are still willing to sound stupid to communicate with others. But why are they still so confident in their stupidity? The relationship between general economic development and tourism is a tale as old as time, whether it s businesses agreeing to tourism in their city or in literature where the results proved to be true. Tourism is often seen by governments as a tool for economic development, in particular areas such as employment, entrepreneurial opportunities, development in rural regions, generate tax revenues, and so much more. In 2012, a study by Zeng et al discovered that domestic and international tourism in China is becoming a booming industry. In reality, tourism in China has actually been declining slightly since 2007. This is because of the Chinese Yuan, (whose full title is Yuan Renminbi, abbreviated as RMB) and the fluctuations of the exchange rate causing the price of traveling to China to increase as well as decrease in personal interest. The recent recessions in America and Europe has led to Americans and Europeans being less willing to travel to China and contribute to the Chinese market. He accentuated the need to embrace audacious new policies and originated an extensive new government policy called affirmative actionto aid the disabilities following from two centuries of brutality and unfairness. The objective of this policy was to defeat the accrued human mutilation triggered by Jim Crow and 350 years of slavery and also to guarantee further advancement toward equality. Affirmative action from the 1960s has generated a more diverse society and it focused mainly on opportunities for middle class African Americans pursuing an approach to exceptional jobs and higher education. Affirmative action has done more to advance fair treatment across racial lines than any other recent public policy. If affirmative action did not exist, the United Stateswould be a vastly more segregated country. Without such efforts, most white Americans would have far less contact with their fellow black citizens. (171) In other words, without affirmative action, diversity could no longer survive. Black Americans would be stigmatized and condemned as a subordinate group even more so. In the 1978 Supreme Court case of the Regents of the University of California v. Bakke, Justice Lewis Powell offered firm standards for racial modification. He argued that adjustments to color blind strategies could be commenced to remedy race based detriments when two circumstances are met. There has to be a pure connection to affirmative action s remedies and past harms based on race. Also, the tie between past actions and present policy must be sturdy and accurate. Powell also believed if there is a non racial way to chase a specified goal, that way should always be the preferred route. Affirmative action is legitimized because the detriment of blacks in the Roosevelt and Truman years satisfies Powell s strict scrutiny test. The Impact Of Divorce On Young Adults The Impact of Divorce on Young Adults Bridget Cook Lindenwood University Abstract This paper explains the factors of parental divorce that have the greatest impact on young adults, including social support, parental involvement, and the ability of the divorced parents to co parent. In addition, all reported that divorce presents certain risks, is an emotionally stressful and complex transition for families, and continues to affect children into adulthood. (Ahrons, 2007, pg. 55). Another common finding from the three studies is that the experience of parental divorce itself was not the key factor producing a negative impact on children but, a lack of parental involvement resulting from the divorce seemed to be the factor that resulted in negative impact. Negative impact includes but is not limited to low self esteem, academic difficulty, sexual promiscuity and problems with developing intimate relationships. A subsequent study on the impact of divorce on emerging adults conducted by Block Spiegel found that, Social support moderately predicted self esteem beyond what would expected due to chance. Obstacles Affecting Anadromous Fish Populations Anadromous fishes reproduce in freshwater then their progeny migrate to the ocean where they grow and mature then return to freshwater to reproduce. These fishes encounter numerous barriers during their freshwater migration. Migration barriers (e.g. dams, water storage projects, irrigation diversions, impassable culverts, etc.) are significant factors affecting most anadromous fish populations. The primary effects of barriers on anadromous fishes are the reduction of their population abundance and productivity through excessive mortality, and reduction in habitat quantity and quality (NMFS, 2008). Towler et al. (2015) defines a fishway as hydraulic structures and devices that provide continuous pathways for fish to move over or around otherwise impassable barriers. Many existing fishways were designed for adult fish, and where present, adult salmonids. Designing fishways for a multiple species is of growing interest in the United States, Canada, and other countries. • 11. Keynes Theory Of Business Cycles Essay Keynes Theory of Business Cycles Introduction A business cycle refers to a phenomenon of alternating periods of expansion and contraction in economic activity. In many cases such as have been witnessed in free market nations including the USA and Great Britain, economic growth is characterized by long run upward GNP growth, followed by large periodic short run fluctuations in economic activity. The economic period associated with high income, output and unemployment, is also known as upswing expansion or prosperity. The economic period associated with low income, output and unemployment is also referred to as downswing, contraction, recession or depression. These economic fluctuations are called trade cycles because they tend to occur in a recurrent manner (Knoop, 2009, p.39). Figure 9 contains two ocular dominance histograms of the left visual cortexes (9A and 9B) in which two kittens had a period of monocular deprivation in their right eyes during the first three to four months of their lives. In Figure 9A, both eyes were kept open for thirty months and then the results were recorded, which shows ocular dominance in the left eye (expected based on the research). However, in Figure 9B, following the original period of deprivation in the right eye, the kitten s left eye was then sutured closed for a complete year, after which remained open with the right eye for four years and ten months. The results of this cat were recorded at age six years and one month. One may expect the results in Figure 9B to show ocular dominance in the right eye due to the fact that the left eye was closed for a longer period of time (roughly 8 months). However, the results instead show ocular dominance in the left eye like Figure 9A does. This can be explained based off of the research that the period of susceptibility ends around the fourth month of life. Because the right eye was deprived during the period of susceptibility, but the left eye deprivation occurred after the conclusion of this sensitive period of cell growth and connection formation, the left eye displayed dominance. This again suggests that the length of deprivation does not necessarily matter as long as it does not occur during the period of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lynn Strategies of Human Resources Management (MGMT 5309) Wayland Baptist University Virtual Campus Dr. Barry Evans February 8, 2015 Abstract Five days after graduating highschool, I left my hometown for the United States Navy. The dress code was simple: hair needed to be cut a certain way, creases in my uniforms were to be exact, mandatory clean shaven face and my medals/ribbons needed to be in their proper place and perfectly aligned to standards. Once I retired, reality set it when I assumed the role as a Human Resourcess Manager or Director. Skirt lengths, open/closed toed shoes, cleavage (both front and rear), piercings and tattoos are just a few of the items I was responsible for in regulating at the corporate office. This paper will discuss many of the common dress code issues, legal responsibilities and a bit of personal humor and insight into the ordeal of establishing a dress code policy that will regulate your appearance. Being in management for some people can be a love hate relationship. Some will say it is an easy job and others will disagree. The author (Nichole) will select one of the management theories in the textbook then she will explain the elements that are the foundation of the management theory she selected. Furthermore, she will explain how the theory identifies the roles and skills of the manager. Then she will describe three management skills necessary for the effective management of an organization. Lastly, she will outline three management roles in relation to the management of people and organizational processes. The theory chosen was classical management theory. Classical management theory according to the book was originated during England s Industrial Revolution, which began in the late 1700 s with the invention of reliable steam powered machinery (Plunkett, Allen, Attner, 2013, p. 37). The classical management theory focused more on the one best way to perform and manage tasks (Plunkett et al, 2013, p. 37). We have recently described methodologies for the automated analysis of fast mitochondrial transport from data acquired using a robotic microscope. We focused on addressing questions of measurement precision, speed, reliably, workflow ease, statistical processing, and presentation. With it, we are able to generate complete descriptions of movement profiles in an automated fashion of hundreds of thousands of mitochondria with a processing time of approximately one hour. We also described the calibration of the parameters of the tracking algorithms and demonstrate that they are capable of measuring the fast transport of a single mitochondrion. We then show that the methods are capable of reliably measuring the inhibition of fast mitochondria transport induced by the disruption of microtubules with the drug Nocodazole in both hippocampal and cortical neurons. With numerous individuals involved, and countless theological perspectives represented, it is tough to identify all the sides politically and relationally involved over the course of approximately a century of radical change. While many might contemplate that the simple goal of this movement was a corrupt king s desire for divorce which certainly was an underlying cause the formation of Anglicanism had many twists and turns on its journey to become what is believed by many to be the least radical and perhaps most stable compromise between observance of ancient tradition and Protestantism, which is now termed the via... Proponents of this theory claim that the English Reformation was commenced by Henry for dynastic motives, was inflicted and coerced from above, and was predominantly a political tactic. As distorted as this revisionist interpretation is, the classical perspective is also inaccurate. A.G. Dickens and other advocates for this understanding summarize, The received view assumed that, in spite of some resistance, the Reformation agenda was welcomed with open arms by the nation as a whole. It was primarily a theological movement. The Church was ripe for Reformation: a surge of reforming ideas met with an enthusiastic reception in a populace deeply disillusioned with the corruption, superstition and obscurantism of the late medieval Church. A more balanced understanding of the circumstances leading up to, during, and following the English Reformation reveal that both perspectives are perhaps equally simplified as well as miscalculated. The full weight of Henry s impetuses as conceited as they might be undoubtedly carried categorical developments to the ecclesiology of the church in England, as well as its relationship to Rome and other nations, in a very conclusive and pronounced manner; this was no secret to those living in the sixteenth century, and is just as unequivocal today. However, the intricacies encompassed by the cast of characters involved in the tangible restructuring of both the temporal and spiritual foundations of England as a commonwealth during the Protestant Reformation are numerous and disorienting at best. The Reformation in England was not the uneventful, sustained intentness of a consistent plot, envisioned in the intellects of any one party. Instead, it was a multifaceted, accidental, convoluted succession of incidents. Christopher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Every item on a uniform has its own purpose and standards and should be held to that standard.Whether its from the number of belt loops all trousers have, to the significance of left over rights on the boot sales, every Marineshould be held accountable for ensuring all pieces of the uniform are in its proper place. The main uniform used today for all branches of service comes in many different patterns. For Marines, there are two different uniforms, woodland MARPAT and desert MARPAT, or utility uniforms. These are intended for wear in the field, or on working parties. but have become the typical uniform for working on a daily basis, especially in Garrison or on deployment. The MARPAT is designed to break up the wearers shape, and to identify a Marine as a Marine and not any other branch of service. The Utilities we wear depend on the time of year and the region the Marine lives in. For example, Marines on the west coast of the U.S. wear desert utilities in the spring and summer months. Also, because we are in a desert environment, we wear these. Woodland utilities are worn in the winter months due to the changing of the seasons and is also because of the rainy, greener climate. on the other hand, those Marines on the east coast and over sees wear woodlands year round because they are not in a desert environment, but a tropical or wooded area. In order to facilitate this expansion, we are considering purchasing a competitor. My company is a limousine company, and we have expanded via franchising into a number of different states and metro areas at this point. We are considering purchasing a rival that operates mainly in areas adjacent to ours, with the objective of expanding our presence in those markets, and building our brand. This strategy is part of a plan to grow the business nationwide. Valuation Methods There are several valuation methods that can be used to analyze the competing company. These are adjusted book value, capitalized adjusted earnings, discounted future earnings, the cash flow method and the gross revenue multiplier (Collin.edu, 2013). Another technique is to base the valuation on the stock market valuation of a similar company. In this case, most limousine services are not publicly traded, so the stock market option is not available. Thus, the optimal method will come from the other five options.
