Kindergarten In Kindergarten
Kindergarten in the 1870s was a place for the middle class children in Canada. However, the late into
the 19th century kindergarten changed. It went from being a novel childrearing alternative for the
educated middle classes and a popular means of maintaining cultural heritage among German
immigrants, to becoming a widespread form of upper and middle class women s philanthropic work
with poor children and an integral part of many public school systems (Lazerson, 1973 from Dehli,
2014, p. 15). In the 1870s, there were only dozens of kindergartens. There were 400 kindergarten
schools in 1880s. The change was likely due to the increase in jobs and industrial capitalism.
Kindergartens became a place to help the poor and immigrant urban children, and to improve such
children s families and communities (Dehli, 2014, p. 14). In addition, the educators were usually
middle class and upper class women. While there was a rise to industrial capitalism, there was a rise to
women s profession. In the 1870s and 1880s during the weekdays, thousands of three to five year old
children gathered in churches, houses, and schools and engaged in games, songs, stories, and many
more. When the educators were not caring for the children over the weekends the educators visited
children s homes and organized meetings with mothers that could be educators, volunteers, and
contributors to the ECE community. They also promoted kindergarten through their writings, lectures,
fundraising, and lobbying.

Brief Description Of Edward Teller Essay
Edward Teller
Edward Teller is a Hungarian American physicist, known for his work on the hydrogen bomb. Teller
was born in Budapest in 1908, and was educated in Germany at the Institute of Technology in
Karlsruhe and at the universities of Munich and Leipzig. He received his Ph.D. in physics in 1930.
After working at the University of Goettingen with James Frank and at the Niels Bohr Institute, he
became Professor of Physics at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. in 1935. In
1941 he became an American citizen. In the same year he joined the U.S. atomic bomb development
project known as the Manhattan Project. For more than a decade he worked with the Italian born

In 1952 he became professor of physics at the University of California, Berkeley, and director of the
Livermore, California, division of the university s radiation laboratory (now Lawrence Livermore
National Laboratory). He was the principal architect of the hydrogen bomb, first tested in 1952, and he
strongly advocated that the United States continue the testing of thermonuclear weapons. He also
made contributions to the application of nuclear explosives to peaceful uses. From 1954 to 1958, he
served as Associate Director at the new Lawrence Livermore Laboratory. He became a consultant to
the laboratory in 1952. In 1975 he retired from teaching, but remained director emeritus of the
radiation laboratory. After working on the production of the atomic bomb in the Manhattan Project,
Edward Teller went on to become the principal designer of the hydrogen bomb. He remained a
steadfast advocate of nuclear weapons testing throughout his life. In recent years, Teller has
championed the ``Star Wars missile defense system, despite the fact that such a system is very
expensive and has no conceivable way of working. Teller has written a few books. His books include

Technique And Rationale For Selection
I. Technique and Rationale for Selection
Marc 1 Realty is a real estate company located in the Charlotte Metro area of North Carolina. This
company has grown from only serving two of the smallest counties in the area to becoming one of the
largest real estate firms in the metropolitan area over the past twenty years (Mosteller, 2015; Trulia,
Inc., 2015). The company successfully thrived during the economic recession and is now facing a
steadily improving market (Mosteller G. , 2015; Koepke, 2015; Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond,
2015). As seen from the SWOT analysis and balanced scorecard previously analyzed, the company
has seen success in many of its critical success factors, including sales, customer satisfaction,
productivity, and innovation (Mosteller J. , 2015). This does not mean that the company needs to stop
innovating and seeking new ways to grow its customer base. A company should always continually
seek to better itself, or it will slowly fall behind its competitors and not realize this is occurring until it
is too late.
Though companies have a broad range of different contemporary management techniques that they
can use to respond to the contemporary business environment, benchmarking appears to be the
technique by which Marc 1 Realty should seek to better itself. A combination of low information
availability, a high number of competitors, and the company being a service provider makes this
technique the most appropriate at this stage of the company s life

Texas County Government System
During the early days of the Texas government system, many districts were divided into counties and
cities. In those two entities, there are general purpose local governments and special purpose
governments, each with their own regions and responsibilities.
Because of the size of Texas, many rural areas rely on the local county government to conduct
political business. Texas has the largest number of counties compared to all the other states; 254 in
total. Before vehicles, many Texans had to travel to the capital to conduct state business. Therefore, it
was important to establish some form of local government system for the people who lived further
from the city to be able to have access to the government. Even today, many county courts conduct ...

This can cause two different effects for the various positions within the government; it allows normal
citizens to contribute and possibly be rewarded with a job within the local government (pluralism), or
it allows unqualified people to attain jobs based on who they know or how much they gave during the
campaign (elitism).
The city government is like the county government in the respects that it has a municipal home rule
form of government to allow cities whose populations are over 5,000 to develop their own charter.
They also have extraterritorial jurisdiction and annexation forms of government. These last two forms
of government allow cities to control development and other aspects of things beyond their city limits.
Many municipals (self governed cities) are divided into three separate types of governments: Mayor
Council, Commission, and Council Manager. The Council Manager form is generally used in larger
cities and consists of a council of five to fifteen members, elected by districts, and a mayor who is
elected by the council and is responsible for multiple city managers to implement the various policies.
The Mayor Council form is of similar structure to the Council Manager form except

Operation Guadalcanal And Adjacent Islands, Operation...
The campaign to seize Guadalcanal and adjacent islands, Operation Watchtower, is a valuable case
study illustrating aspects of design and operational art. Features of operational design and art are
unmistakable in the shaping of the Pacific campaign plan and subsequent subordinate operations. This
case study illustrates the actions taken link the series of tactical actions across the Pacific toward the
national strategic objective of defeating Japan along a defined line of operation. This paper briefly
explores the use of design and operational art by the Allies in the Solomon Islands campaign of World
War II.
At the strategic level, the Allies prioritized the European Theater of Operations (ETO) ahead of the
Pacific Theater of Operations (PTO) after the Arcadia conference (22 Dec 1941 14 Jan 1942). This
initially relegated Pacific strategy to a defensive one primarily due to lack of resources. However, due
to rapid Japanese advances in early 1942 Australia requested the return of her divisions that were
currently serving in the ETO under the British. This set a chain of events in motion allowing a more
aggressive Pacific strategy to emerge. Australia was a crucial ally and a decisive point in the defense
of the Pacific. As a conciliatory measure the United States dispatched additional divisions and
equipment to the South Pacific in order to retain Australian divisions in Europe. It should also be
noted that most Americans were still seething over Pearl Harbor adding to

Essay On Homework
A high schooler comes home from school. He gets out his homework and gets started. The mom of the
student said start your homework and then we will eat.The mom spends an hour at dinner, but the
student is not done with his homework. He is asking his dad all types of questions, but he is too busy
to help. That happens every day at this family home. When the boy got his test scores back later in the
year, they were so low. Students have busy lifestyles and stress at home. They need time away from
studies to appreciate what they learn. There are so many things that can help them prepare for life
outside of school and giving a lot of homework causes stress to the student and family. I wanted to
find a way to get schools to cut down on homework. Too many kids are doing badly on a test because
of the time constraints and stress to complete homework. So let s do something about it. When I was
researching, I asked myself How can I get schools to cut down on homework? After all the research
that I did, it was clear to me that we can help the kids in school to have less homework.
Statistics about too much homework are illuminating: too much homework can lead to being
counterproductive. After a school day, kids come home and do their homework that can cause stress to
a family that has other needs or issues, such as low income. Too much homework can have a negative
effect because they might be from a home that doesn t have everything they need. They might not
have parents or older siblings

Amy Winehouse s Death Media Analysis
Once upon a time, I woke up in the morning and decided to turn on the television and switch the
channel to the news. I instantly regretted the decision. Recently, the validity of news sources has
grown noticeably questionable. With lies and mistruths swarming around such an industry, it is only
natural to question various aspects of the industry as a whole. Upon further analysis, celebrity stories
strike me as an aspect that needs to be disposed of. News sources should not publish celebrity stories
since the numerous costs of the stories are much greater than is permissible. The first reason celebrity
stories are not worth publishing is due to the large time and monetary costs of celebrity stories to the
news agencies that produce them. One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This claim takes shape in how celebrity deaths teach people to not do what the celebrity did. In
particular, this is described in A Musical Matter of Life and Death: The Morality of Mortality and the
Coverage of Amy Winehouse s Death in the UK Press by Paula Hearsum, where she analyzes the
media coverage surrounding Amy Winehouse s death. In this article, Hearsum states that Winehouse s
death has brought the dangers of alcohol and drug dependency to light, which helps society as a whole
(193). Thus, the people that argue for this claim believe that seeing the downfall of the celebrity merits
writing articles about them. However, this argument cannot be allowed to further the creation of
celebrity news stories. First, these stories about potential role models making poor decisions does not
bode well for the children of the next generation. A separate section Crack Down on the Celebrity
Junkies : Does Media Coverage of Celebrity Drug Use Pose a Risk to Young People? demonstrates
this idea well. The researcher state that reading about celebrities engulfed in drug use may affect the
child s frame of reference about drug use (Shaw 587). This means that children may obtain a warped
belief on the damages of poor behavior, perhaps justifying the action of engaging in destructive
behavior later in life. Furthermore, the stories could be told in a positive light, persuading people that
poor behavioral choices are normal. This is concept is described in part of Hearsum s essay. She states
that journalism s goal is to change the views of the audience being written for (Hearsum 183). This
means that articles supporting poor behavior in celebrities might negatively impact the decision
making of the people who read the articles. Finally, it is not ethical to encourage celebrity journalism
solely to teach

She Walks In Beauty By: Lord Byron (George Gordon) She walks in beauty, like the night Of

Her beauty is contrasted to the gaudy daylight. Stanza 1 Summary Get out the microscope, because we
re going through this poem line by line. Lines 1 2 She walks in beauty, like the night Of cloudless
climes and starry skies; * An unnamed woman walks in beauty. This is an odd way of saying that she s
beautiful, isn t it? Walk[ing] in beauty makes her beauty seem more dynamic as though it s partly her
movement and the spring in her step that make her beautiful. She s not just a pretty face in a portrait; it
s the whole living, breathing, walk[ing] woman that s beautiful. * Her beauty is compared to night.
This seems strange night is dark, right? Aren t beautiful women usually compared to a summer s day ?
(That would be Shakespeare s Sonnet 18, in case you were wondering). * But the featured woman isn
t just compared to any night, she s compared to a night in a place where there are no clouds and lots of
stars. We suppose that means she has a very clear and lovely complexion? Or perhaps being cloudless
has more to do with her personality her conscience might be as clear as a cloudless sky. * You see
starry skies at night, but the brightness of the stars relieves the darkness of the night. This is the first
hint of a contrast between light and dark in the poem. * There s some pretty sweet alliteration in these
lines. You might want to head over to the Symbols section for

going on in the scene. Jeff being the audience his emotions are then felt by the true audience who
would feel anxious as well.
The sequence shows a mixture of close up shots, long shots and angled shots. It begins with a close up
of Jeff showing his reaction. It cuts to a long shot of Thorwald s apartment. The camera is at a level
and height as if looking out from Jeff s apartment. The camera has little movement at the beginning of
the scene.
In the, Extreme long shots it is unrestricted to Thorwald since he does not know who is ever at the
door. When the police arrives and rings the doorbell, only Jeff and Stella knows that they are there.
When it becomes known to Thorwald after opening the door, his face is filled with guilt as Jeff looks
at him with his telephoto lens. Thorwald is nervous and looks back at Lisa, who manages to compose
herself. However, the audience only sees what Jeff sees.
The last shot in the sequence at the point 102:02(shot 24), Joe is looking through the telephoto lens
while Stella looks through a pair of binoculars. An iris forms again showing Joe s subjective view.

The British-Revolutionary War
The years prior to the Revolutionary War proved to be a trying time for the early American colonists.
The French and Indian War, or Seven Years War, represented the decisive turning point in British
colonial relations. The Treaty of Paris in 1763 ratified Britain s undisputed control of the seas and
shipping trade, as well as its sovereignty over much of the North American continent east of the
Mississippi River (Tax Analysts, 2015). During this time, the British parliament posed many taxes on
the colonists in an effort to decrease the large debt incurred by many years of fighting. Acts such as
the Sugar Act, Currency Act, Stamp Act, Quartering Act, Townshend Act, and the Tea Act, forced the
colonists to pay hefty taxes on a number of goods. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Boston is a peninsula, surrounded by water with one narrow neck that has accesses to the city. The
Heights on Charlestown peninsula and the Heights on Dorchester all played very important roles
during the siege. The shallow waters in the Boston harbor kept the main British battleships out of the
Boston Harbor, and lead to a ship running aground during the battle of Chelsea Creek. This event
produced much needed supplies for the Continental Army. After Gage withdrew all his forces into
Boston, he only had two options for deploying his troops. He would have either had to go through the
neck of Boston, creating a funnel and slowing down movements, or move them across the harbor by
ships. Both options were time consuming and slowed down any offensive the British would take,
giving the Continental Army much needed time to reinforce and fortify positions. While the British
relied on the narrow neck and it s Navy in the harbor to prevent the Continental Army from attacking
the city, the Continental Army relied on its numbers to keep the British Army in Boston. Dorchester
Heights proved to be the decisive factor leading the Continental Army to a victory. The strategic
emplacement of artillery on Dorchester Heights forced the British to surrender once the British

approaches several wise men, or rishis, in the forest of Naimisha. He relates to them the Mahabharata
as he has heard it from Vaisampayana, a disciple of the poet Vyasa. Sauti begins by recounting the
death of King Parikshit of the Bharatas at the hands of Takshaka, aNaga, or snake man. King
Janamejaya, Parikshit s son and successor, had held the snake sacrifice in order to avenge the death of
his father, but the ceremony was stopped by the intervention of the learned Naga, Astika. Sauti then

The Role Of Power And Influence Within Hereford National Bank
The case study, Who s in Charge?, reveals many lessons involving the lack of power and influence
within Hereford National Bank. Particularly, the case study focuses on James Davis who was hired
away from an investment firm by Eric Johnson, the vice president of marketing. Notably, James was
two years removed from college and, subsequently, placed in charge of the Retirement Division. Two
months later, he was jointly promoted to business development manager. Due to James inexperience
as a leader and the banks inept organizational structure, his power and influence with employees
suffered. Unfortunately, the bank s failure to provide clarity of the organizational structure crippled
James ability to utilize his legitimate, reward, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Subsequently as a leader in the organization, James experienced problems from employees due to the
lack of power and influence in his unstructured role within the organization and mistakes made in his
immature leadership approach.
The problems from employees persisted due to James lack of power and influence in the organization
as a leader. According to Bethel University (2011), leaders who can reward and punish followers may
have a greater capacity to influence followers than those leaders who cannot use rewards or
punishments (p. 107). As a leader and manager in the organization, James acceded to two management
positions offered by vice president of marketing, Eric Johnson, without any clarity of his legitimate,
reward, and coercive powers. Collectively, these powers would have revealed James authority of
position, ability to influence with rewards, and the ability to influence others with disciplinary action
(Bethel University, 2011). James powers and position in the organization was realized when he asked
Eric for a part time secretary. And, even more, when he became infuriated with a supervisor after
asking her subordinates (two clerks) for administrative assistance without prior approval. The
supervisor refused to assist and impolitely questioned his ability to perform his duties and stated, ...it
is your job, causing James to report the situation to Eric (Bethel University, 2011, p. 144).

Imagine Dragons Hyperbole
In the song On Top Of The World by Imagine Dragons, they are singing about how you shouldn t give

off with Cause I m on top of the world . Cause I m on top of the world would be a hyperbole because

Tesco Reputation Management Case Study
1. 0 Introduction
This writing looks at the definition of Reputation Management and Tesco Rebuilding Reputation after
overstating its profits, the different types and degrees of their problems and the foundations for
effective Reputation repairs. Repair methods and the steps to repair process are also outlined. The
author finally considers the results which can result from reputation repair practices.
At the same time, there are some people who still believe in the maxim of Milton Friedman (1970)
that the only objective of a corporation is to increase profits and to build wealth for investors, with
reputation seen as something that is nice to suffer , merely an expendable cost.

3.0 Conceptualization
In this report the author have formulated a conceptualization as shown in figure 1 to help the reader to
understand the bridge of identifying the degrees of problems which Tesco faces when dealing with
their Reputation repairs, to achieving a desirable outcome. The concept also illustrates the relationship
between each individual step and how they are all totally interconnected. To accomplish a desired
outcome Tesco must identify the types and degrees of problems they are facing and build bases for
effective reputation and brand repairs including communication, change management, training,
empowerment of staff and a reward system. This will allow Tesco to decide on a formal repair
handling procedure by watching over the identified five steps as identified below.

Cal Polyy s Production Of The Crucible
Last week, I attended Cal Poly s production of the Crucible that was shown in Spanos Theatre. The
original playwright is Arthur Miller; In the school s adaption of the play, it was directed by Heidi L.
Ness and consisted of a cast of about 20 actors. The overall production of the play was well done, but
the element that especially stood out was the set design. Pegi Marshall, the Scenic and Lighting
designer, did an excellent job in setting the arrangement of the props and overall structure of the set.
The small details added were notable because they boosted the overall success of the play by working
hand in hand with other elements to make the play stronger. At first glance, tree limbs were carefully

Archetypes In O Brother Where Art Thou
Throughout the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou, classic storytelling through archetypes is reworked
into a more modern time in order to create the unique gem that it is. Archetypes are a general persona
of a character that is repeated many times through films and literature, they define the character and
give meaning to their roles. Archetypes have been used ever since stories were made, from the
Odyssey to even Percy Jackson. Archetypes tend to set the stage for the story, and get revealed
throughout the story adding more life and energy to it. Three examples of archetypes expressed very
well through characters in the movie are the hero, the alter ego, and the temptress.
First off, every story has it s own hero, a larger than life character that often goes on some kind of
journey or quest while demonstrating specific qualities and abilities . This describes the hero of O
Brother, Where Art Thou, a man called Everett, very well. Everett is the guy who starts the trio s
whole adventure, a man on a mission. He tells the other guys that the mission is to get some treasure,
but in reality Everett is trying to get his wife and family back. Throughout their journey, he is the
obvious leader of the group; the other guys look up to him and follow him in whatever he does in
order to get to the treasure . Everett shows that he is a hero is when, after Delmar and Pete find out
that there is actually no treasure and he just needed to escape with them because they were all tied

I agree that Unconventional Warfare (UW) activities support other Special Operations Core Activities.
You did mentioned Military Information Support Operations (MISO) during the American Civil War
accomplished by guerrilla fighters operating behind enemy lines spreading disinformation to the
enemy about troop strength and dispositions, disrupted Federal supply and communication lines, and
distracted contingents of troops. I find this interesting and I do wander what other Special Operation

Triad Essay
The Triad is a colloquial term in the Special Forces (SF) community used to describe the mutually
supporting roles and responsibilities of the leadership on the SFOD A. The Warrant Officer on an
SFOD A is recognized as a Commander so the question begs to be asked: why the departure from this
leadership model in Company and Battalion command teams? The following analysis will examine
advantages and disadvantages of maintaining the current command team model at the Company and
Battalion level verses re flagging the Company and Battalion Warrant Officer positions to Command
Chief Warrant Officer (CCWO) positions. The advantages to identifying the Company and Battalion

Essay about Charles Darwin s Life and Revolutionary Work
Charles Darwin by far, revolutionized biology as known to modern society. He is responsible for the
theory of evolution that people of today still go by. He was born on February 12, 1809 in England as
the fifth child into the family of Dr. Robert and Susannah Darwin. He had three older sisters and one
older brother. Because of his father s success as a physician, and his mother coming from the
Wedgewood family fortune, the Darwin family was considered well off. Robert Darwin worked many
great hours while Susannah stayed home to take care of the children. Unfortunately, when Charles was
eight years old his mother passed away from complications of an illness that she had for a year. From
that point on, Robert began working much more and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After graduation, he received a letter from his friend Henslow informing him that he knew of a sailor
captain in search of a naturalist and thought Charles was best suited for the job. Though Robert
Darwin was hesitant about letting his son go, he eventually caved. The journey that Charles Darwin
went on became known as the Voyage of the Beagle. The ultimate goal of the journey was to study
and map the coast lines of South America. Charles Darwin had been given the chance to explore a
world unknown by Europeans. Not only that, but Charles would be able to do some science as well.
From the adventure, Charles Darwin learned many new fascinating things. He saw animals on land
that resembled other animals but were adapted to different things. For example, he saw two types of
lizards one that was made to live in the water and one that was made to live on land. This sparked his
curiosity. According to the book of Genesis, nothing that God has created changes. Everything
remains the same, as God had intended. When he found fossils, the same was true. He found things
that had resembled animals of his time but were slightly bigger or different in some way or another
but they had been extinct. Charles began to believe that the animals were changing despite the fact
that his thoughts went against everything he was taught. He took lots of samples of animals and
findings back home to England. He was going to need evidence to support his new theory yet it took
him nearly twenty

Hedda Gabler Naturalism Essay
Hedda Gabler and John are two plays whose characters are not the average hero. Hedda, the main
character in Hedda Gabler, comes off as a detestable woman, and in John, Jenny and Elias are equally
dysfunctional in their own ways. These characters are rich and multifaceted, a common trait in the
naturalism movement. Naturalism is a movement in theater that is essentially realism; it s goal is to
depict events and scenes as they would happen in the real world with characters who behave like real
people. It began in the late 19th century, but has prevailed through history (Styan). Naturalism shapes
the way people watch theater today, and these two plays are excellent examples of this movement. By
utilizing dialogue, stage directions, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, John embodies naturalism in it s own way, by including seemingly unimportant
information in dialogue. This is another display of naturalism, because in real life people do include
information that is irrelevant to the larger story. The characters, mostly Mertis, seem to ramble on
about things that don t always connect directly to the matter at hand. But Mertis does this in a way that
is familiar; like most real old people, she tends to get lost on a tangent. This extraneous dialogue
furthers the realistic feel of the play, but also shines light on the deeper psychology of the characters in
an almost sneaky way. For example, when Mertis talks about the hospital she worked in, and how she
ran into the doctor and got the chance to tell him she was doing well for herself now, we see Mertis
rambling on just like any older person talking about the past. But this dialogue also reveals Mertis
insecurities and need for validation. She wanted the doctor to know she was doing quite well (Baker).
Dialogue like this is important because it reveals the intricacies of the characters and their complex
nature.
Stage directions play a huge part in both of these plays as well, specifically in how the stage directions
affect dialogue. Naturalism was actually controversial when it was introduced due to long pauses and
lulls in dialogue, which at the time were perceived as boring. Stage directions that call for long pauses
are very common in Hedda Gabler and

Lab Report On Projectile
What is a projectile? In what is a projectile (Physics Classroom, 2015), a projectile is a moving object
and the only force acting upon it is gravity. The actual path of a projectile could vary according to the
position and direction of the launch of the projectile. The image types of projectiles (2015) shows
three types of projectiles. P1 is the projectile which has the movement only in vertical direction while
P2 has more vertical and a little horizontal motion thus moving in two dimensions. P3 has both
motions almost equal. Projectile has the characteristic of being under influence the force of gravity
only. If the path of a moving object is affected significantly by some air resistance, the object is not a
projectile any more. It is also not a projectile while at the source or when it hits something during its
flight. A ball shown in the diagram below is not a projectile till the ball leaves the hands of the person
dropping it or throwing it. The air resistance can be ignored at this point because the effect is not
significant. It again seizes to be a projectile when it is in contact with the ground because the force of
the reaction from the ground and the force of friction has come into action. P1 P2 P3 Diagram 1

I Am A Cripple By Nancy Mairs
I AM a Cripple When my older sister, Molly, was ten years old, she was a temporary cripple. Molly
went through a pretty big surgery that would stop her from tripping over her pigeon toed legs. While

Thankfully, my sister has tough skin. She took what others would find scarring, all as a joke. It is hard

Mairs usage of the Handicapper General allusion ties to another allusion she uses to express more of
her feelings of being a cripple. The narrator uses Tiny Tim from the story A Christmas Carol by
Charles Dickens to portray her emotions about being a cripple when others thoughts and opinions are
involved. She knows that she is a cripple and others think less of her abilities, but this takes a toll on
her as sometimes she ends up feeling like Tiny Tim, peering over the edge of the table at the
Christmas goose, waving my crutch, piping down God s blessing on us all (Mairs). Tiny Tim is a
character in A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, who is disabled. Even though he is a cripple, he is
still always happy and positive about life. The narrator uses him to achieve an obvious visual image of
her emotion of frustration . Mairs usage of Tiny Tim as an allusion connects directly to the next
allusion she uses to emphasize her feelings. Her emotions occasionally get taken over by anger and
frustration and she admits sometimes I don t want to play Tiny Tim. I d rather be a Caliban, a scurvy

The Culture Of American College
Cultures vary tremendously throughout the world and within many of these cultures are sub cultures
that do not necessarily operate under the same standards for example, the culture of American college
students. Subcultures, according to Clark and Trow, represent clusters of attitudes, norms, and models
of behaviors rather than groups of people (Warren, 1968). It is hard for someone to not have any
ethnocentric bias to a culture they have not yet been part of or witnessed first hand. Transitioning from

Death versus Death but the Points go to Dickinson
Emily Dickinson was born in a time when not many women involved themselves in poetry or any
form of intellectual capability. Despite this, she was such a wonderful poet that her poetry rivaled
Whitman s. Of course, she was never able to rival him because she chose not to publish her poetry in
her lifetime. Once the world saw her poetry, however, it was shocked by the literary genius who had
lived in seclusion for a good majority of her life. Her style is very distinguishable through it is
excessive but purposeful punctuation and 8 6 8 6 rhyme that matches church songs and patriotic songs
like Amazing Grace and Glory to God on High. The church influenced more than her style, however,
as much of her subject matter pertains to her unorthodox beliefs. Other subjects include hope and
sometimes humor, but her ideas on death are both very interesting and complicated. Dickinson does
not make light of death, but she uses her poems as her diary to record her thoughts on death. She
moves rapidly from thinking death is passive to thinking it is an amazing honor, but she also thinks of
it in a terrified sense. Emily Dickinson s views on death are uncertain, she varies between finding
death casual, positive and romantic, and negative in a series of several poems
Many people may fear death, but Emily Dickinson sometimes expressed in her

When the educators were not caring for the children over the weekends the educators visited children s homes and organized meetings with mothers that could be educators, volunteers, and contributors to the ECE community. They also promoted kindergarten through their writings, lectures, fundraising, and lobbying. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Technique And Rationale For Selection I. Technique and Rationale for Selection Marc 1 Realty is a real estate company located in the Charlotte Metro area of North Carolina. This company has grown from only serving two of the smallest counties in the area to becoming one of the largest real estate firms in the metropolitan area over the past twenty years (Mosteller, 2015; Trulia, Inc., 2015). The company successfully thrived during the economic recession and is now facing a steadily improving market (Mosteller G. , 2015; Koepke, 2015; Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, 2015). As seen from the SWOT analysis and balanced scorecard previously analyzed, the company has seen success in many of its critical success factors, including sales, customer satisfaction, productivity, and innovation (Mosteller J. , 2015). This does not mean that the company needs to stop innovating and seeking new ways to grow its customer base. A company should always continually seek to better itself, or it will slowly fall behind its competitors and not realize this is occurring until it is too late. Though companies have a broad range of different contemporary management techniques that they can use to respond to the contemporary business environment, benchmarking appears to be the technique by which Marc 1 Realty should seek to better itself. A combination of low information availability, a high number of competitors, and the company being a service provider makes this technique the most appropriate at this stage of the company s life ... In those two entities, there are general purpose local governments and special purpose governments, each with their own regions and responsibilities. Because of the size of Texas, many rural areas rely on the local county government to conduct political business. Texas has the largest number of counties compared to all the other states; 254 in total. Before vehicles, many Texans had to travel to the capital to conduct state business. They also have extraterritorial jurisdiction and annexation forms of government. These last two forms of government allow cities to control development and other aspects of things beyond their city limits. The campaign to seize Guadalcanal and adjacent islands, Operation Watchtower, is a valuable case study illustrating aspects of design and operational art. Features of operational design and art are unmistakable in the shaping of the Pacific campaign plan and subsequent subordinate operations. This case study illustrates the actions taken link the series of tactical actions across the Pacific toward the national strategic objective of defeating Japan along a defined line of operation. This paper briefly explores the use of design and operational art by the Allies in the Solomon Islands campaign of World War II. At the strategic level, the Allies prioritized the European Theater of Operations (ETO) ahead of the Pacific Theater of Operations (PTO) after the Arcadia conference (22 Dec 1941 14 Jan 1942). This initially relegated Pacific strategy to a defensive one primarily due to lack of resources. However, due to rapid Japanese advances in early 1942 Australia requested the return of her divisions that were currently serving in the ETO under the British. This set a chain of events in motion allowing a more aggressive Pacific strategy to emerge. Australia was a crucial ally and a decisive point in the defense of the Pacific. As a conciliatory measure the United States dispatched additional divisions and equipment to the South Pacific in order to retain Australian divisions in Europe. It should also be noted that most Americans were still seething over Pearl Harbor adding to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Recently, the validity of news sources has grown noticeably questionable. With lies and mistruths swarming around such an industry, it is only natural to question various aspects of the industry as a whole. Upon further analysis, celebrity stories strike me as an aspect that needs to be disposed of. News sources should not publish celebrity stories since the numerous costs of the stories are much greater than is permissible. The first reason celebrity stories are not worth publishing is due to the large time and monetary costs of celebrity stories to the news agencies that produce them. One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This claim takes shape in how celebrity deaths teach people to not do what the celebrity did. In particular, this is described in A Musical Matter of Life and Death: The Morality of Mortality and the Coverage of Amy Winehouse s Death in the UK Press by Paula Hearsum, where she analyzes the media coverage surrounding Amy Winehouse s death. In this article, Hearsum states that Winehouse s death has brought the dangers of alcohol and drug dependency to light, which helps society as a whole (193). Thus, the people that argue for this claim believe that seeing the downfall of the celebrity merits writing articles about them. However, this argument cannot be allowed to further the creation of celebrity news stories. First, these stories about potential role models making poor decisions does not bode well for the children of the next generation. A separate section Crack Down on the Celebrity Junkies : Does Media Coverage of Celebrity Drug Use Pose a Risk to Young People? demonstrates this idea well. The researcher state that reading about celebrities engulfed in drug use may affect the child s frame of reference about drug use (Shaw 587). This means that children may obtain a warped belief on the damages of poor behavior, perhaps justifying the action of engaging in destructive behavior later in life. Furthermore, the stories could be told in a positive light, persuading people that poor behavioral choices are normal. This is concept is described in part of Hearsum s essay. She states that journalism s goal is to change the views of the audience being written for (Hearsum 183). This means that articles supporting poor behavior in celebrities might negatively impact the decision making of the people who read the articles. Lines 1 2 She walks in beauty, like the night Of cloudless climes and starry skies; * An unnamed woman walks in beauty. This is an odd way of saying that she s beautiful, isn t it? Walk[ing] in beauty makes her beauty seem more dynamic as though it s partly her movement and the spring in her step that make her beautiful. She s not just a pretty face in a portrait; it s the whole living, breathing, walk[ing] woman that s beautiful. * Her beauty is compared to night. This seems strange night is dark, right? Aren t beautiful women usually compared to a summer s day ? (That would be Shakespeare s Sonnet 18, in case you were wondering). * But the featured woman isn t just compared to any night, she s compared to a night in a place where there are no clouds and lots of stars. We suppose that means she has a very clear and lovely complexion? Or perhaps being cloudless has more to do with her personality her conscience might be as clear as a cloudless sky. * You see starry skies at night, but the brightness of the stars relieves the darkness of the night. This is the first hint of a contrast between light and dark in the poem. * There s some pretty sweet alliteration in these lines. You might want to head over to the Symbols section for ... This event produced much needed supplies for the Continental Army. After Gage withdrew all his forces into Boston, he only had two options for deploying his troops. He would have either had to go through the neck of Boston, creating a funnel and slowing down movements, or move them across the harbor by ships. Both options were time consuming and slowed down any offensive the British would take, giving the Continental Army much needed time to reinforce and fortify positions. Archetypes In O Brother Where Art Thou Throughout the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou, classic storytelling through archetypes is reworked into a more modern time in order to create the unique gem that it is. Archetypes are a general persona of a character that is repeated many times through films and literature, they define the character and give meaning to their roles. Archetypes have been used ever since stories were made, from the Odyssey to even Percy Jackson. Archetypes tend to set the stage for the story, and get revealed throughout the story adding more life and energy to it. Three examples of archetypes expressed very well through characters in the movie are the hero, the alter ego, and the temptress. First off, every story has it s own hero, a larger than life character that often goes on some kind of journey or quest while demonstrating specific qualities and abilities . This describes the hero of O Brother, Where Art Thou, a man called Everett, very well. Everett is the guy who starts the trio s whole adventure, a man on a mission. He tells the other guys that the mission is to get some treasure, but in reality Everett is trying to get his wife and family back. Throughout their journey, he is the obvious leader of the group; the other guys look up to him and follow him in whatever he does in order to get to the treasure . You also mentioned the fact that in World War II guerrilla operations were of great importance in supporting tactical objectives, and I agree with you but I it makes me think how can that be. The Warrant Officer on an SFOD A is recognized as a Commander so the question begs to be asked: why the departure from this leadership model in Company and Battalion command teams? The following analysis will examine advantages and disadvantages of maintaining the current command team model at the Company and Battalion level verses re flagging the Company and Battalion Warrant Officer positions to Command Chief Warrant Officer (CCWO) positions. • 28. Essay about Charles Darwin s Life and Revolutionary Work Charles Darwin by far, revolutionized biology as known to modern society. He is responsible for the theory of evolution that people of today still go by. He was born on February 12, 1809 in England as the fifth child into the family of Dr. Robert and Susannah Darwin. He had three older sisters and one older brother. Because of his father s success as a physician, and his mother coming from the Wedgewood family fortune, the Darwin family was considered well off. Robert Darwin worked many great hours while Susannah stayed home to take care of the children. Unfortunately, when Charles was eight years old his mother passed away from complications of an illness that she had for a year. From that point on, Robert began working much more and ... After graduation, he received a letter from his friend Henslow informing him that he knew of a sailor captain in search of a naturalist and thought Charles was best suited for the job. Though Robert Darwin was hesitant about letting his son go, he eventually caved. The journey that Charles Darwin went on became known as the Voyage of the Beagle. The ultimate goal of the journey was to study and map the coast lines of South America. Charles Darwin had been given the chance to explore a world unknown by Europeans. Not only that, but Charles would be able to do some science as well. From the adventure, Charles Darwin learned many new fascinating things. He saw animals on land that resembled other animals but were adapted to different things. For example, he saw two types of lizards one that was made to live in the water and one that was made to live on land. This sparked his curiosity. According to the book of Genesis, nothing that God has created changes. Everything remains the same, as God had intended. When he found fossils, the same was true. He found things that had resembled animals of his time but were slightly bigger or different in some way or another but they had been extinct. Charles began to believe that the animals were changing despite the fact that his thoughts went against everything he was taught. He took lots of samples of animals and findings back home to England. He was going to need evidence to support his new theory yet it took him nearly twenty ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Hedda Gabler Naturalism Essay Hedda Gabler and John are two plays whose characters are not the average hero. Hedda, the main character in Hedda Gabler, comes off as a detestable woman, and in John, Jenny and Elias are equally dysfunctional in their own ways. These characters are rich and multifaceted, a common trait in the naturalism movement. Naturalism is a movement in theater that is essentially realism; it s goal is to depict events and scenes as they would happen in the real world with characters who behave like real people. It began in the late 19th century, but has prevailed through history (Styan). Naturalism shapes the way people watch theater today, and these two plays are excellent examples of this movement. By utilizing dialogue, stage directions, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, John embodies naturalism in it s own way, by including seemingly unimportant information in dialogue. This is another display of naturalism, because in real life people do include information that is irrelevant to the larger story. The characters, mostly Mertis, seem to ramble on about things that don t always connect directly to the matter at hand. But Mertis does this in a way that is familiar; like most real old people, she tends to get lost on a tangent. This extraneous dialogue furthers the realistic feel of the play, but also shines light on the deeper psychology of the characters in an almost sneaky way. For example, when Mertis talks about the hospital she worked in, and how she ran into the doctor and got the chance to tell him she was doing well for herself now, we see Mertis rambling on just like any older person talking about the past. But this dialogue also reveals Mertis insecurities and need for validation. She wanted the doctor to know she was doing quite well (Baker). Dialogue like this is important because it reveals the intricacies of the characters and their complex nature. Stage directions play a huge part in both of these plays as well, specifically in how the stage directions affect dialogue. Naturalism was actually controversial when it was introduced due to long pauses and lulls in dialogue, which at the time were perceived as boring. Stage directions that call for long pauses are very common in Hedda Gabler and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Lab Report On Projectile What is a projectile? In what is a projectile (Physics Classroom, 2015), a projectile is a moving object and the only force acting upon it is gravity. The actual path of a projectile could vary according to the position and direction of the launch of the projectile. The image types of projectiles (2015) shows three types of projectiles. P1 is the projectile which has the movement only in vertical direction while P2 has more vertical and a little horizontal motion thus moving in two dimensions. P3 has both motions almost equal. Projectile has the characteristic of being under influence the force of gravity only. If the path of a moving object is affected significantly by some air resistance, the object is not a projectile any more. It is also not a projectile while at the source or when it hits something during its flight. A ball shown in the diagram below is not a projectile till the ball leaves the hands of the person dropping it or throwing it. The air resistance can be ignored at this point because the effect is not significant. It again seizes to be a projectile when it is in contact with the ground because the force of the reaction from the ground and the force of friction has come into action. Molly went through a pretty big surgery that would stop her from tripping over her pigeon toed legs. While living a couple months in her wheelchair, an uncle of ours came to visit. His warm welcome to my sister was pushing her into a corner, locking her wheelchair, and calling her a windowlicker. Thankfully, my sister has tough skin. She took what others would find scarring, all as a joke. It is hard not to be reminded of the unexpected response my sister gave while reading the essay I AM a Cripple by Nancy Mairs. Mairs usage of the Handicapper General allusion ties to another allusion she uses to express more of her feelings of being a cripple. The narrator uses Tiny Tim from the story A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens to portray her emotions about being a cripple when others thoughts and opinions are involved. She knows that she is a cripple and others think less of her abilities, but this takes a toll on her as sometimes she ends up feeling like Tiny Tim, peering over the edge of the table at the Christmas goose, waving my crutch, piping down God s blessing on us all (Mairs). Tiny Tim is a character in A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, who is disabled. Even though he is a cripple, he is still always happy and positive about life. The narrator uses him to achieve an obvious visual image of her emotion of frustration . Mairs usage of Tiny Tim as an allusion connects directly to the next allusion she uses to emphasize her feelings. Her emotions occasionally get taken over by anger and frustration and she admits sometimes I don t want to play Tiny Tim. I d rather be a Caliban, a scurvy monster (Mairs). The Culture Of American College Cultures vary tremendously throughout the world and within many of these cultures are sub cultures that do not necessarily operate under the same standards for example, the culture of American college students. Although that is the case for many students here, I know a great deal of students who attend WSU and were also accepted by UW and other schools as well. Once you go from eastern Washington to western Washington there is a massive change in the subculture of the people. • 37. Death Versus Death By Emily Dickinson Maheen Chranya English HP E Ratliff April 21, 2015 Term Paper Rough Draft HP: _____________________ Death versus Death but the Points go to Dickinson Emily Dickinson was born in a time when not many women involved themselves in poetry or any form of intellectual capability. Despite this, she was such a wonderful poet that her poetry rivaled Whitman s. Of course, she was never able to rival him because she chose not to publish her poetry in her lifetime. Once the world saw her poetry, however, it was shocked by the literary genius who had lived in seclusion for a good majority of her life. Her style is very distinguishable through it is excessive but purposeful punctuation and 8 6 8 6 rhyme that matches church songs and patriotic songs like Amazing Grace and Glory to God on High. The church influenced more than her style, however, as much of her subject matter pertains to her unorthodox beliefs. Other subjects include hope and sometimes humor, but her ideas on death are both very interesting and complicated. Dickinson does not make light of death, but she uses her poems as her diary to record her thoughts on death. She moves rapidly from thinking death is passive to thinking it is an amazing honor, but she also thinks of it in a terrified sense. Emily Dickinson s views on death are uncertain, she varies between finding death casual, positive and romantic, and negative in a series of several poems Many people may fear death, but Emily Dickinson sometimes expressed in her ...
