CONCEPT OF TLM
•Its supplementary device by which the
instructor tries to clarify doubts, teach
new concepts, establish new ideas,
make interpretations, ensure correct
appreciation of facts and phenomena.
DEFINITIONS
• “Instructional aids are those sensory objects which initiate, stimulate
and reinforce learning”

• “Instructional aids refer to those devices by the use of which
communication of ideas between persons & groups in various teaching-
learning situations is helped. these are also termed as multi-sensory
materials.”

USES OF TLM
• Provides Direct experience
• Helps in development organization and summarizing phases of the
lesson
• One picture is equal to one thousand words.
• Help to reduce excessive verbalism and save time for the teacher
and the students
• To stimulate interest toward the learning task, imaginations of
events, the power of observation and motivation for further
knowledge
• Better acquisition & longer retention of ideas
• Break of monotony and makes joyful
• Clarify doubts and can reach a large number of students within a
short time
• Ensure a healthy classroom interaction
• To add beauty and colour to the classroom instruction
Guidelines for using TLM effectively
•TLM should be meaningful and purposeful, useful &
relevant, beautiful & attractive, cheap, up-to-date,
simple, not be too big & too small & old /damaged,
colour contrast, visible.
•Teacher should be clear in his mind about the exact
point in the lesson which requires use of aids
• The students should be mentally prepared to be
exposed to the aid before it is actually used.
Proper presentation
• Arranged & placed on the table
• Used only one at a time
• Large number of aids should not be used in a single lesson
• Explain and clarify which needs such explanation and clarification
• Display properly
• Avoid unnecessary noise
• Encourage students to participate in the discussion to see, hear,
smell, handle and manipulate the aids
• Kept carefully in a separate place for use on future occasion
Some tips for use of TLM
• Enter into the classroom with smiling face
(not laughing )
• Bring the content mastery
• Remove your nervousness
• Don’t be so serious & so light. Maintain balance
• Show democratic leadership in the classroom
• Don’t show your anger in the classroom
• Don’t ask sensitive question in the classroom
• Keep more & more patience in the classroom
• Everything listen patiently & be careful for providing negative thing
• Keep good rapport with the HM/principal, other teaching staffs, non
teaching staffs & try to create healthy atmosphere in that situation.

retrieve, manipulate, transmit or receive

Guidelines for using TLM effectively •TLM should be meaningful and purposeful, useful & relevant, beautiful & attractive, cheap, up-to-date, simple, not be too big & too small & old /damaged, colour contrast, visible. •Teacher should be clear in his mind about the exact point in the lesson which requires use of aids • The students should be mentally prepared to be exposed to the aid before it is actually used.
