MEANING OF CONTINUOUS
COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATION
 Continuous and Comprehensive
Evaluation(CCE) refers to a system
of school-based evaluation of
students that covers all aspects of
students’ development.
 It is a developmental process 0f
assessment which emphasizes on
two fold objectives.

The third term ‘Evaluation’
“Evaluation is an arrangement of
symbols to a phenomenon in order
to characterize the worth of value of
a phenomenon usually with
reference to some social cultural or
scientific standard”.

It implies that the purpose of the total
endeavor is not just the
measurement of the level of
achievement and proficiency of
students but also their improvement
through diagnosis and
remediation/enrichment

Continuous and comprehensive

 Continuous and comprehensive
evaluation is a system which is
newly introduced by Central
Board of Secondary Education
in India, for students of sixth to
tenth grades and twelfth in some
schools. It touches the every
aspects of students life.

 It also reduces the child stress
before examination. The CCE
method is claimed to bring
enormous changes from the
traditional chalk and talk method
of teaching provide it is
implemented accurately.

 In this system both cultural
and academic performance are
calculated. The aim is to
decrease the work load on the
student by means of
continuous evaluation by
taking number of small tests
throughout the year in place of
single test at the end of the
academic program.

 Only Grades are awarded to
students based on work
experience skills, dexterity,
innovation, steadiness,
teamwork, public speaking,
behavior, etc. to evaluate and
present an overall measure of
the student’s ability.

Aims of CCE
• Evaluate the integral part of the students.
• Eliminate the subject bias
• To keep the continues motivation through the year.
• To encourage the curricular and co-curricular
proficiency.
• To help the teacher take corrective measures based on
the feed back.
• Assess the students multifaceted development and
encourage the further improvement.
• Make the process of teaching and learning a learner
centered activity.

Characteristics of CCE
• CCE assess the students continuously through out the
year and assess all aspects.
• It also includes the physical education in it is scope of
assessment.
• Various tools and technique is used scale o assess
CCE- test, rating scale, check list
• CCE carried Formative and summative assessment.
• Criterion based evaluation helps the student to
improve the performance.
• SA involves norms based assessment in the end of the
year.
• Emphasize the process based learning and eliminating
memorization in learning.
• Encourage and develop the students skills attitude and
values wellness service activities works and education.
• Find the individual needs and makes very good
