11. National Higher Education Qualifications Frameworks (NHEQF)
• It is an instrument for the development, classification and recognition
of qualifications along a continuum of levels from 4.5 to 8 (1-4 levels
are for school education)
• Each level is based on learning outcomes.
• A student must possess & demonstrate graduate attributes either
through one mode or through combination of modes (face-to-face,
online)
• It is comprehensive framework that classifies qualifications based on
set of performance criteria, approved nationally and comparable with
international standards.
19-02-2024 Prof. R. K. Mohalik, RIE BBSR
12. NHEQF
• It is applicable to general, technical, vocational, professional
education (except medical and legal education)
• It is not a means to promote uniform curriculum/ national common
syllabus/ prescribe strategy for teaching and assessment.
• Purpose is to elevate all HEIs to a common level of benchmarking to
ensure quality education.
• It will allow flexibility & innovations (designing programme, teaching
process, assessment strategy and periodic review of programme)

learning, corresponding to a qualification at a given level.
• Credits quantify learning outcomes that are subject achieving the
prescribed learning outcomes to valid, reliable methods of
assessment.
• The credit points can be calculated as credits attained multiplied with
the credit level.
• Notional Learning Hours (NLH) per Year-1200 for HE. 40 Credits per
Year.
• 30 NLH per year for one credit.
• Credit will be awarded on basis of Assessment
