IntroductIon
 Best teachers help their students to become
doers too
 With their practical experience they serve as
role models.
 Like a parent, a versatile teacher who is both
mentor and role model can inspire, coach,
and motivate the next generation.

In this method students are given a
set of guidelines to follow and then
collect information and data on their
own.
It is especially limited for students
who think outside the box and need
to discover things on their own.

Importance of guided practice in the classroom
 “Most of all a man tends to imitate
himself. The fact that he has done a
thing once in a certain way makes it
easier for him to do it again in the
same way.
 From our life experiences we all know
the importance of practice in order
to get better at something.
6/5/2021 Dr. C. Beulah Jayarani 4
Contd.,
 Practice makes a man perfect.
 It is important for a teacher to
not only provide opportunities
for students to practice but to
practice correctly.
6/5/2021 Dr. C. Beulah Jayarani 5
Contd.,
 Errors and mistakes are an integral
part of the learning process.
 Reading and writing must be
incorporated often in each of the
content areas.
6/5/2021 Dr. C. Beulah Jayarani 6
Contd.,
I do, we do, you do
Instant Release of
responsibility where in
students are immediately
asked to apply a skill or
concert immediately,
sometimes after little or no
modelling.
6/5/2021 Dr. C. Beulah Jayarani 7
Contd.,
 Example :the teacher may model
solving a mathematics problem using
whiteboard, interactive white board,
overhead or document camera.
 consider then a slight change in the
phrase I do, we do , you do to I do, we
do together ,you do together ,you do
independently.

COLLABORATIVE PEER PRACTICE
(you do together)
• Students work together
(small groups)
• Seated in pairs
(all equally involved)

• Benefits of practising- the more
we do the better we get
• Importance is guidance- from
expert
6/5/2021 Dr. C. Beulah Jayarani 13
WHOLE CLASS
• Dan – multiply two digit no.’s-
guided practice
• ‘We do’ require more support
• Walk around
• Work with partners-
whiteboard, or play a game
6/5/2021 Dr. C. Beulah Jayarani 14
SMALL GROUP
