Target Audience Profile
The readership of ‘Pop It’ magazine is a female/young girl between the ages 10-15 years old.
They are still in education but are fun, quirky and have great aspiration. They are full of
confidence on issues relating to the pop industry, including information such as “who’s dating
who”. The girls are individuals but are however in a fandom of their favourite artists such as
“directioners” (One Direction fandom), with others roughly the same age, who share common
thoughts and opinions on both music and fashion. Additionally to this, they try to keep up with
the latest trends and adapt this to their appearance.
Personality wise the reader is fun, outgoing and happy. On top of this they are sociable and a bit
of a “chatterbox” regarding their love for pop music. Due to their age it is unlikely that they will
be purchasing the magazine themselves, it will be brought as a “treat” from their parents or
brought with their pocket money. However, she still remains a loyal and consistent buyer,
purchasing all the latest issues. Her bedroom reflects her love for pop music; posters from the
magazine are spread all across her bedroom wall. Latest toys such as doll figures will take up
some space in her bedroom as well as the rest of her celebrity accessories such as her pop artist
related bed covers!
The reader is still in the early stages of her education; despite this ‘Pop It’ is her main focus of
interest, as well as her group of friend’s main focus. They discuss it whenever they have a spare
moment together, whether it be in the playground, at sleepovers/parties, or shopping on the
weekends. These are her main interests, as well as watching TV programmes such as the X
Factor, Britain’s Got Talent and the Voice, as well as watching other channels such as Disney and
Nickelodeon.
Music is a passion for her; she is up to date on all the new releases and knows all the words
within a short space of time. When possible, she attends concerts with her friends, as well as
parental guidance and accompany, making sure to purchase as much merchandise as possible.
Her favourite artists include: One Direction, Justin Bieber, Jessie J, Little Mix, The Vamps, Ariana
Grande, Cheryl Cole and Union J. Obviously, like any typical soon-to-be teenager, she has a crush
on the majority of the boys in the pop industry hoping one day she will be lucky enough to meet
them.
The reader of ‘Pop It’ is a loyal customer and favours it to all other pop magazines as it contains
EXCLUSIVE information and is always fully up to date as well as having fun activities to
complete and cover mount. Music channels and YouTube are her favourite because she gets to
watch her favourite music videos. Those in the older section of the target audience are more
advanced and have all the latest social networking sites such as Twitter, Instagram and Vine,
following their favourites, keeping up to date with as much as detail as possible. Not only do
they follow celebrities, but their favourite magazine, ‘Pop It’.
