The majority of our audience survey participants were
female aged 16-19 meaning that it is likely that we
would aim our main task at a person who fits these
categories.
Suburban area in Ireland
The BAND we have chosen are an Irish/folk band so
this is the type of area who would likelyhave access to
and prefer this type of music.
What type of clothes would they wear? Any particular
brands?
Who is their favourite band/artist? Why?
She dresses different and perhaps older than others
her age. She wears jumpers and likes Celtic and Gaelic
patterns. She would not wear mainstream brands as it
doesnot fit in with the sub-culture she identifies with.
Mumford and Sons and George Ezra. They have an
indie/folksoundwhich ispart of theirculture. She
likestheirstyle of music using acoustic guitars and
preferit to faster pace/rockier sounds.She wouldlove
to see them live and plays an acoustic guitar. She likes
emotionconveyedin song.
What do they like to do in their spare time? What type of music do they dislike? Why?
She likes to go to small acoustic gigs with her friends
to experience the live music. She likes photography
too and enjoys going to scenic places to take photos
and put them on her Tumblr page. She enjoys
cultures.
She does not like rock music such as IRON MAIDEN
and AREOSMITH as it is too aggressive in terms of
emotion. She also dislikes commercialised pop music
that is overproduced without meaning or emotion.
What is their best memory? What are they most likely to spend their money on?
Her best memory is being sat around a campfire with
her friends. They sang folk songs with an acoustic
guitar and were able to have fun together away from
technology and the busyness of everyday life.
They like to spend their money on concert tickets to
small gigs as well as on time out with her friends and
stickers for her guitar.
What do they aspire to do? What is most important to them? Why?
She aspires to make her hobby of song writing and
music into a full-time career as a folk artist as there is
a gap in the market in her opinion. She does not feel
the need to become a signed artist immediately and
enjoys playing small venues and writing in her
bedroom.
Music isan important part of herlife and she uses it to
convey her emotions and indeed her culture. She also
values her family and friends highly as they are
important to her and are her biggest supporters.
What television shows do they watch? Who is their hero?
They do not tend to watch television shows but they
do enjoy watching the X Factor as she enjoys watching
artists who she identifiesasdowell and succeedinthe
industry.
Janet Devlin. She has the same heritage as her and
following her time on the X Factor she has been able
to go on tour and create music that is unique. She also
admires Mumford and Sons and their success.
