My target audience for my music magazine would include those who are
dedicated fans of the pop genre. I have concluded that this is a genre which
mostly entices the young female population, stereotypically due to the
connotations of ‘fangirls’ for the male artists of pop. The age range that it would
be vastly secluded too would be 12-16 year olds, I feel as if this is an appropriate
sample and the girls within this age range would be the type that enjoy buying
and reading a magazine monthly and would happily buy one with pocket
money. I took this into consideration when deciding the price of my product,
making it cheap enough for the young readers to buy themselves and feel as if it
is worth the money they paid, therefore the content I included would appeal to
them and include information and articles they would opt to read and enjoy. I
anticipated that they would also be the readers of current existing music
magazines such as, We Love Pop, Top of the Pops and Shout therefore I must
comply with this competition in mind. They would also additionally have
interests like dancing, shopping, make up, twitter, hair and beauty and
specifically boybands who are within the pop genre. During there spare time
they would typically be dancing, on social media and listening to music. They
would also be the type to go to concerts regularly when their favourite artist
goes on tour. The social media they may use is twitter, facebook and Youtube,
these are methods of keeping up to date with celeb gossip and latest music
realeases including the video, they may also have a fan account for their
favourite pop artist.
