Direct Torque Control (DTC) of Induction Motor drive has quick torque response without complex orientation transformation and inner loop current control. DTC has some drawbacks, such as the torque and flux ripple. The control scheme performance relies on the accurate selection of the switching voltage vector. This proposed simple structured neural network based new identification method for flux position estimation, sector selection and stator voltage vector selection for induction motors using direct torque control (DTC) method. The ANN based speed controller has been introduced to achieve good dynamic performance of induction motor drive. The Levenberg-Marquardt back-propagation technique has been used to train the neural network. Proposed simple structured network facilitates a short training and processing times. The stator flux is estimated by using the modified integration with amplitude limiter algorithms to overcome drawbacks of pure integrator. The conventional flux position estimator, sector selector and stator voltage vector selector based modified direct torque control (MDTC) scheme compared with the proposed scheme and the results are validated through both by simulation and experimentation.
Novel Direct Switching Power Control Method of UPFC by Using Matrix Converte...IJMER
This paper presents a direct Switching power control for three-phase matrix converters
operating as unified power flow controllers (UPFCs). Matrix converters (MCs) allow the direct ac/ac
power conversion without dc energy storage links; therefore, the MC-based UPFC (MC-UPFC) has
reduced volume and cost, reduced capacitor power losses, together with higher reliability. Theoretical
principles of direct Switching power control based on sliding mode control techniques are established
for an MC-UPFC dynamic model including the input filter. As a result, line active and reactive power,
together with ac supply reactive power, can be directly controlled by selecting an appropriate matrix
converter switching state guaranteeing good steady-state and dynamic responses. Experimental results
of DSPC controllers for MC-UPFC show decoupled active and reactive power control, zero steady-state
tracking error, and fast response times. Compared to an MC-UPFC using active and reactive power
linear controllers based on a modified Venturing high-frequency PWM modulator, the experimental
results of the advanced DSPC-MC guarantee faster responses without overshoot and no steady state
error, presenting no cross-coupling in dynamic and steady-state responses

This paper investigates the performance of a Model reference adaptive system (MRAS) based cost-effective drive system of an induction motor (IM) for low-cost applications - high performance industrial drive systems. In this paper, the MRAS is used as a speed estimator and the motor is fed from a four-switch three-phase (FSTP) inverter instead of a conventional six- switch three-phase (SSTP) inverter. This configuration reduces the cost of the inverter, the switching losses, and the complexity of the control algorithms and interface circuits, the proposed control approach reduces the computation for real-time implementation. The robustness of the proposed MRAS-based FSTP inverter fed IM drive is verified by Experimental results at different operating conditions using digital signal processor (DSP1103) for a 1.1 Kw motor. A performance comparison of the proposed FSTP inverter fed IM drive with a conventional SSTP inverter system is also made in terms of speed response and total harmonic distortion (THD) of the stator current. The proposed FSTP inverter fed IM drive is found quite acceptable considering its performance, cost reduction and other advantages features.

V/F Control of Squirrel Cage Induction Motor Drives Without Flux or Torque Me...Waqas Tariq
Based on the popular constant volts per hertz principle, two improvement techniques are presented: keeping maximum torque constant or keeping magnetic flux constant. An open-loop inverter-three-phase squirrel-cage induction motor drive system that provides constant maximum torque or increased maximum torque and reduced slip speed at frequencies below the nominal frequency has been modeled, simulated and tested. Load performance analysis of the proposed system under different operation conditions was provided. These principles of operation are extended to the case of operation from variable frequency or variable voltage control method. Finally, the effects of the non-sinusoidal voltage and/or current wave shapes are covered. The results show that both suggested improvement techniques (constant torque or constant flux) improve the steady-state performance A.C. drive system with squirrel cage induction motors. The slip speed has been decreased and the starting torque and maximum torque have been increased, which means that the suggested control techniques can be used in drive systems with short time operating mode under light loads.

PARAMETER IDENTIFICATION AND MODELLING OF SEPARATELY EXCITED DC MOTOR ijiert bestjournal
DC Motors can be used in various applications and c an be used in various sizes and rates as per the applications. In this paper we have focused on the physical parameters of DC motor. Modelling of any system is an important task in con trol applications because the electrical and mechanical components should be represented in math ematical form. Physical parameters are important in calculating the transfer function of D C motor. By using the physical parameters one can design the controller for controlling speed of the motor. A proportionalintegral derivative controller (PID controller) is a generic control loop feedback mechanism (controller) widely used in industrial control syst ems. The controller attempts to minimize the error by adjusting the process control inputs. The weighted sum of the proportionate, integrate, differentiate actions is used to adjust the process via a control element such as the position of a control valve,or the power supplied.
DTC Scheme for a Four-Switch Inverter-Fed PMBLDC Motor Emulating the Six-Swit...IJRST Journal
The paper deals with the direct torque control (DTC) of brushless DC (BLDC) motor drives fed by four-switch three phase inverters (FSTPI) rather than six-switch inverters (SSTPI) in conventional drives. For any three phase inverter require six switches, but these switches are reduced to four. This reduction of power switches from six to four improves the reliability of the inverter, size of the inverter is reduced and cost of the inverter is also reduces. The FSTPI could be regarded as a reconfigured topology of the SSTPI in case of a switch/leg failure which represents a crucial reliability benefit for many applications especially in electric and hybrid propulsion systems. The DTC of FSTPI-fed BLDC motor drives is treated considering two strategies, such as: 1) DTC-1: a strategy inspired from the one intended to SSTPI-fed BLDC motor drives; 2) DTC-2: a strategy that considers a dedicated vector selection subtable in order to independently control the torques developed by the phases connected to the FSTPI legs during their simultaneous conduction. The operational principle of the four-switch BLDC motor drive and the developed control scheme are theoretically analyzed and the performance is demonstrated by simulation.
Enhancement of power quality using microprocessor based shunt active power fi...IJECEIAES
Power quality is the most significant factor of power sector. The end user equipment such as induction motor, inverters, rectifiers inject harmonics into power system that influences the quality of power delivered. The presence of harmonics forces the use of instantaneous reactive power theory to calculate instantaneous power that helps in finding the compensating currents to eliminate harmonics. The control action required by active filter is accomplished by STM32F303RET6 microcontroller. Single phase induction motor is used as a dynamic nonlinear load in one of the three phases and resistive loads on the other two phases. TRIAC based RC triggering circuit was used to control the single phase induction motor. This paper presents the simulation and hardware implementation of shunt active power filter for 3 phase 4 wire unbalanced system. The hardware results show that THD in the source side has been reduced from 50.7% to 9.6% by implementing the SAPF.

A comparative study of performance of AC and DC electric drive control system...journalBEEI
In electric drive control systems, the main goal is to maintain the driving motor speed to meet the mechanism’s requirements. In some practical industrial applications the mechanically-coupled load to the motor shaft has a varying mass during the system operation. Therefore, the change of mass changes the value of the moment of inertia of the system. The moment of inertia impacts the system operation, particularly the transient performance. Therefore, the variation of moment of inertia on the motor shaft during its operation creates additional challenges to accomplish a high-quality speed control. The main purpose of the current work is to study the impact of the variation of moment of inertia on the performance of both AC and DC electric drive control systems and to make a comparison between them. A mathematical analysis and simulations of the control system models had been presented; one time with three-phase induction motor and another time with DC motor, both with variable moment of inertia. A simulation of both systems had been accomplished using the Simulink software in MATLAB. The simulation results of operation of these systems have been analysed in order to get useful conclusions and recommendations for the electric drive control system designer.
A novel power converter that can perform both voltage and frequency conversion was proposed. Inappropriate power supply can damage sensitive sub-components and render the connected device inoperable. Henceforth, the proposed voltage–frequency converter acts as an interface to plug any electrical device directly into an electrical socket and provide the voltage and frequency required. The converter used a synchronous reference frame proportional–integral (SRFPI) controller to regulate the instantaneous output voltage and to improve steady state performance. Because the PI controller works together with the synchronous reference frame controller, it is difficult to tune the PI control parameters. To overcome this issue, a new meta heuristic optimization technique called lightening search algorithm (LSA) optimization was used to identify the optimum PI parameter values. A detailed description of the system operation and control strategy was presented. Finally, the performance of the converter was analyzed and verified by simulation and experimental results. The experimental result has shown that the proposed system has satisfactory output voltage and frequency under different input voltages.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
