This document discusses vector control of a three-phase induction motor. Vector control, also called field-oriented control, allows independent control of torque and flux in induction motors, similar to DC motors. The document describes:
1) How vector control works by transforming stator currents into orthogonal d-q components representing flux and torque.
2) The principle of field-oriented control which locks the d-q reference frame to the rotor flux vector for decoupled control of flux and torque.
3) The simulation model built in MATLAB/Simulink to test vector control, including blocks for Clarke/Park transformations, current control, and a PI speed controller.
In this paper, we first write a description of the operation of DC motors taking into account which parameters the speed depends on thereof. The PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) controllers are then briefly described, and then applied to the motor speed control already described , that is, as an electronic controller (PID), which is often referred to as a DC motor. The closed loop speed control of a Brush DC motor is developed applying the well-known PID control algorithm. The objective of this work is to designed and simulate a new control system to keep the speed of the DC motor constant before variations of the load (disturbances), automatically depending to the PID controller. The system was designed and implementation by using MATLAB/SIMULINK and DC motor.

Abstract
Direct Torque Control of induction motor fed drives has become popular and widely used in industries due to fast and good
torque response. Induction motors (IM) are simple in construction and are less sensitive to the motor parameters compared to
other vector control methods. The conventional DTC is based on flux and torque hysteresis controllers. Induction motor is fed
from a Four Switch Inverter generating the voltage vectors of the Six Switch Inverter by reconfiguration. Applying the most
optimized voltage vector that produce fastest dynamic torque response during transient states. Fuzzy logic concept is a most
efficient artificial integilence method which has high application in electric motor drives. A method to achieve fastest dynamic
performance by modifying the two leg inverter fed DTC of induction motor based on Fuzzy Logic Concept is used here. This paper
presents a rule-based fuzzy logic controller scheme designed and applied for the speed control of an induction motor fed from a
four switch three phase inverter emulating the six switch three phase inverter. Due to the usage of the Fuzzy logic concept, the
reliability, efficiency and performance of ac drive increases. Initial torque peak and torque ripple are minimized in the four switch

DTC Scheme for a Four-Switch Inverter-Fed PMBLDC Motor Emulating the Six-Swit...IJRST Journal
The paper deals with the direct torque control (DTC) of brushless DC (BLDC) motor drives fed by four-switch three phase inverters (FSTPI) rather than six-switch inverters (SSTPI) in conventional drives. For any three phase inverter require six switches, but these switches are reduced to four. This reduction of power switches from six to four improves the reliability of the inverter, size of the inverter is reduced and cost of the inverter is also reduces. The FSTPI could be regarded as a reconfigured topology of the SSTPI in case of a switch/leg failure which represents a crucial reliability benefit for many applications especially in electric and hybrid propulsion systems. The DTC of FSTPI-fed BLDC motor drives is treated considering two strategies, such as: 1) DTC-1: a strategy inspired from the one intended to SSTPI-fed BLDC motor drives; 2) DTC-2: a strategy that considers a dedicated vector selection subtable in order to independently control the torques developed by the phases connected to the FSTPI legs during their simultaneous conduction. The operational principle of the four-switch BLDC motor drive and the developed control scheme are theoretically analyzed and the performance is demonstrated by simulation.
SPEED AND TORQUE CONTROL OF AN INDUCTION MOTOR WITH ANN BASED DTCijics
Due to advantages such as fast dynamic response, simple and robust control structure, direct torque
control (DTC) is commonly used method in high performance control method for induction motors. Despite
mentioned advantages, there are some chronically disadvantages with this method like high torque and
current ripples, variable switching behaviour and control problems at low speed rates. On the other hand,
artificial neural network (ANN) based control algorithms are getting increasingly popular in recent years
due to their positive contribution to the system performance. The purpose of this paper is investigating of
the effects of ANN integrated DTC method on induction motor performance by numerical simulations. For
this purpose, two different ANN models have been designed, trained and implemented for the same DTC
model. The first ANN model was designed to select optimum inverter and the second model was designed to
use in the determination of the flux vector position. Matlab/Simulink model of the proposed ANN based
DTC method was created in order to compare with the conventional DTC and the proposed DTC methods.
The simulation studies proved that the induction motor torque ripples have been reduced remarkably with
the proposed method and this approach can be a good alternative to the conventional DTC method for
induction motor control.

ecoupled control of induction motor drives is possible using Direct Torque Control (DTC) method which
is very simple control strategy compared to field oriented control. In this method direct torque control is achieved by
selecting suitable inverter switching voltage vector from a lookup table. But drawback of this method is that it
produces toque ripples. Also the switching frequency of inverter switches is not constant. Many methods have been
proposed to address these issues of DTC. This paper reviews various methodologies which are suggested to improve

Simulation of Direct Torque Control of Induction motor using Space Vector Mo...IJMER
This paper presents simulation of Direct Torque Control (DTC) of Induction Motor using Space
Vector Modulation (SVM). Direct Torque Control is a control strategy used for high performance torque
control of Induction Motor. This SVM based DTC technique reduces torque ripple and improves torque
response. The performance is explained using simulation in MATLAB environment. Result of the
simulation done in the paper shows improvement in flux and torque. These results verifies the merits of
DTC- SVM over conventional Direct Torque Control technique.
Direct Torque Control (DTC) of Induction Motor drive has quick torque response without complex orientation transformation and inner loop current control. DTC has some drawbacks, such as the torque and flux ripple. The control scheme performance relies on the accurate selection of the switching voltage vector. This proposed simple structured neural network based new identification method for flux position estimation, sector selection and stator voltage vector selection for induction motors using direct torque control (DTC) method. The ANN based speed controller has been introduced to achieve good dynamic performance of induction motor drive. The Levenberg-Marquardt back-propagation technique has been used to train the neural network. Proposed simple structured network facilitates a short training and processing times. The stator flux is estimated by using the modified integration with amplitude limiter algorithms to overcome drawbacks of pure integrator. The conventional flux position estimator, sector selector and stator voltage vector selector based modified direct torque control (MDTC) scheme compared with the proposed scheme and the results are validated through both by simulation and experimentation.

This paper presents the comparative study between PI, fuzzy and hybrid PI-Fuzzy controller for speed control of brushless dc (BLDC) motor. The control structure of the proposed drive system is described. The simulation results of the drive system for different operation modes are evaluated and compared. A fuzzy controller offers better speed response for start-up while PI controller has good compliance over variation of load torque but has slow settling response. Hybrid controller has an advantage of integrating a superiority of these two controllers for better control performances. Matlab/Simulink is used to carry out the simulation.

A comparative study of performance of AC and DC electric drive control system...journalBEEI
In electric drive control systems, the main goal is to maintain the driving motor speed to meet the mechanism’s requirements. In some practical industrial applications the mechanically-coupled load to the motor shaft has a varying mass during the system operation. Therefore, the change of mass changes the value of the moment of inertia of the system. The moment of inertia impacts the system operation, particularly the transient performance. Therefore, the variation of moment of inertia on the motor shaft during its operation creates additional challenges to accomplish a high-quality speed control. The main purpose of the current work is to study the impact of the variation of moment of inertia on the performance of both AC and DC electric drive control systems and to make a comparison between them. A mathematical analysis and simulations of the control system models had been presented; one time with three-phase induction motor and another time with DC motor, both with variable moment of inertia. A simulation of both systems had been accomplished using the Simulink software in MATLAB. The simulation results of operation of these systems have been analysed in order to get useful conclusions and recommendations for the electric drive control system designer.
A solar fed BLDC motor drive for mixer grinder using a buck converter IJECEIAES
In large and small scale applications, different kinds of variable speed driving systems can be found. For saving the energy consumption of these devices, eco-friendly electronics are used, which lead to the development of the Brushless DC motor (BLDC). Its higher power density, higher efficiency, higher torque at low speed, and low maintenance enhances the use of a BLDC motor. The existing mixer grinder consists of the universal motor, which operates in alternating current supply due to high starting torque characteristics and simple controlling of the speed. The absence of brushes and the reduction of noise in the BLDC extends its life and makes it ideal in a mixer grinder. A solar-powered BLDC motor drive for a mixer grinder is presented in this paper. A DC-DC buck converter is utilized to operate the PV (photovoltaic) array at its maximum power. The proposed hysteresis current control BLDC system has been developed in the MATLAB. The commercially available mixer grinder is presented along with the proposed simulated system for performance comparison. It can be concluded that at the no load condition, the efficiency of the experimental existing mixer grinder is 51.03% and simulated proposed system is 81.25% and at load condition, the efficiency of the experimental mixer grinder is 49.32% and simulated system is 79.85%.

Abstract This paper deals with a variable speed wind turbine coupled with a permanent magnet synchronous generator connected through a two mass drive train. This drive train is connected to synchronous generator and after the conversion process finally connected to grid and the idea of transmission over a long distance makes the use of converter necessary and at the receiving end. The inverter is used to convert it back and the inverter is designed with a proper gate signal to get the best output three phase voltages. The fuzzy logic controller is used to track generator speed with varying wind speed to optimize turbine aerodynamic efficiency in the outer speed loop. Pitch angle control of wind turbine has been used widely to reduce torque and output power variation in high rated wind speed areas .The machine side converter is designed to extract maximum power from the wind. In this work a WECS connected with grid is designed in Matlab and a Fuzzy controller is designed to improve the output and we can see the major difference in DC link voltage and reactive power in transmission line. From the outputs we can also go through the reactive power issue which system is best for inductive load or capacitive load. The simple PI system is good for capacitive load and the fuzzy system is better option for the inductive load. The results of both the system of normal controller and fuzzy controller is compared and analyzed. Key Words: Fuzzy logic controller (FLC), permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG), insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) , Pulse width modulation (PWM), Wind energy conversion system, DC link capacitor. It is now-a-days very important for the people to send or receive articles like imported furniture, electronic items, gifts, business goods and the like. People depend vastly on different transport systems which mostly use the manual way of receiving and delivering the articles. There is no way to track the articles till they are received and there is no way to let the customer know what happened in transit, once he booked some articles. In such a situation, we need a system which completely computerizes the cargo activities including time to time tracking of the articles sent. This need is fulfilled by Courier Management System software which is online software for the cargo management people that enables them to receive the goods from a source and send them to a required destination and track their status from time to time.
