Envision a world where nano sized robots can burrow themselves into your skin just by touching
something or perhaps explode within you on command. Consider perchance, a world were humans
have collective thoughts and can generate the processing power of a super computer. Sounds like
something out of an awesome dream or a nightmare, depending on how you perceive it. These are just
some of the ideas that are presented in transhumanism. Transhumanism can be explained as the belief
that the human race can advance past its current physical and intellectual confines through the use of
technology (Bostrom, 2014). In the current world we live in, we are limited by a number of factors,
many of these include the scientific limitations and the properties of physics. On the other side of the
limitations, lay the concepts of morality and ethical issues. Along with those concepts include how this
technology correlates to our current world. In the novel The Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson,
humans live alongside nanobots (and various other technology) in a transhumanist world. In this
advanced world, the ideas of morality and ethics are still present within the human race. In many
aspects, the morality and ethical issues that humans encounter today are reencountered in this
transhuman world. In the novel The Diamond Age, Neal opens the story with the

Theseus Hero s Journey Analysis
Theseus, the newly found prince of Athens, embarks on several hero journeys including on against
Minos Minotaur and the Labyrinth. Joseph Campbell s representation of the hero s journey fully
encompasses Theseus narrative throughout his quest to defeat the Minotaur. Beginning with a call to
adventure on through the crossing of the threshold and on to the reward and resurrection. Compared to
Rank s hero s journey which includes a revelation and transformation with atonement, Campbell s
process fits more precisely to Theseus story.
If compared to Joseph Campbell s hero s journey theory, Theseus is considered a mythological hero;
however, not in a historical manner in which he is often accredited.

The Minotaur, meaning Minos bull, was a monster of dire appearance, having the body of a powerful
man and the head of a bull (Seltman 98). Against his newfound father s request, Theseus leaves
Athens in hopes of returning victorious against the bull headed beast. In a heroic fashion, Theseus
leaps over the next step in Campbell s hero journey and never refuses his call to adventure. The next
step to any hero s journey is an encounter with a super natural aid, but Theseus story takes a moral
mentor to gather resources needed for the rest of his journey (Robertson 269). Theseus encounters his
unlikely mentor upon arriving to Crete; Minos daughter, Ariadne, instructs Theseus to take a ball of
linen with him into the labyrinth in order to trace back his steps after defeating the Minotaur (Martin
129). Crossing the threshold, Theseus ties one end of his ball of linen to the front door and journeys
into the unconquerable maze and towards the beast (129). Theseus passes through his first trial of
navigating the labyrinth inwards with ease straight into danger. Walking

Columbian Exchange Dbq
Why Europe Conquered the Americas and not the Other Way Around? The old world, specifically
Europe shaped history; it was an age of exploration and expansion. Europe was one of the first
civilizations and that gave them a head start to explore new lands, find new ideas, and domesticate
more animals. The following sources support the fact that Europe Conquered the Americas, these
documents include: The Columbian Exchange written by Nathan Nunn and Nancy Qian convey the
message that through trading of animals, ideas, diseases, food crops, and population between the new
world and the old world helped shape the civilization of Europe and gave Europe the push to conquer
the Americas (Columbian exchange). Additionally, in the Guns, Germs, and ... Show more content on

The Columbian exchange was passed through the old, new worlds, and Africa (Columbian Exchange).
The geography of these three places and their downfalls and rises all work together to import and
export goods and species (Columbian Exchange). They exported goods, slaves, and animals
(Columbian Exchange). Europeans all together were the best at trading for goods and exporting goods
to making themselves have such an early advantage (Columbian Exchange). The Columbian exchange
refers to the exchange of diseases, ideas, food crops, and populations between the new world and old
world following the voyage to the Americas by Christopher Columbus in 1492, by the old world
meaning the eastern hemisphere (Columbian Exchange). The discoveries of new supplies and metals
is the best known, the old world also gained staple crops, sugar and coffee (Columbian Exchange).
The exchange of disease occurred such as smallpox, measles, and typhus. Some cuisines of countries
were altered by the Columbian exchange; it introduced a wide range of new calorically rich staple
crops to the old world namely potatoes, sweet potatoes, maize, and cassavas. The Europeans adapted
tobacco. Sugar cane was extremely important for the European masses (Columbian Exchange). The
potato provided a large supply of calories and nutrients, it had a positive growth on the population by
12%, and it effected urbanization by 47% as well (Columbian Exchange). Slaves were also imported
into the Americas because of the spread of old world diseases to native Americans, the cultivation of
highly priced old world crops such as sugar and coffee(Columbian Exchange). Over all, the
Columbian exchange helped form Europe and guided it to conquer the Americas (Columbian
Exchange). Furthermore, in the tables written by Jared Diamond and

The Smarter Generation Is Not The Dumbest Generation
The dumbest generation is not the Millennials. Indeed this generation is smarter than previous
generations because of better technology, and better learning of new vocabulary on everything that we
watch and play as on video games, TV shows, we are always learning new stuff every time. New
generation s also have proof that we are more intelligent in test that people have taken to compare
older IQ levels and newer generations IQ levels. There can be some proof that this generation is
getting lazier and learning is lacking and we always depend more on our phone, but in my opinion we
are still the smartest generation yet. Is this generation the dumbest yet to come? No. people do not
think the Millennials are the dumbest generation in fact, this generation is thought to be smarter than
previous generations. Millennials have so many things that this generation has improved that has also
made millennials smarter, everything they do makes them smarter each time just like playing video
games which you always remember on how to pass a mission, which you remember that last time you
died when you made a wrong move so obviously next time you won t go through that spot or you won
t do the same act that got you killed in your other game life. Newer generations also have proof to tell
the older generations that they are smarter because of proof that we have better IQ levels than the
older generation, yes older generations can say that this new generation may be dumber, but they just
have opinions not facts at all, but us, we have facts that we are smarter. IQ score have been on the rise
since 1930s (B, Begley). With this evidence it is more valuable than any of Bauerlein s claims because
they are just his opinions against actual evidence that has been tested by scientist to actually approve
that we are getting smarter. Also video games have helped us a lot in improving our skills and better
competitivity to learn/win.
Did video games ever sound so learnful to parents? You may guess not, but actually video games help
us on our learning of everyday. Video games do not look like a learning factor for some people, but
actually video games have helped lots of kids learn new vocabulary words that are simple used in the

Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Theory On Child Development
Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Theory on Child Development Erik Erikson, a well known developmental
theorist, developed his theory about stages of human development from birth to death by using Freud s
work as a starting point. According to Erikson, personality develops in a series of stages. Erikson
found out that children experience conflicts which affect their development. He described the internal
conflict which children go through in developmental stages using the term crisis and are based on
either developing a psychological quality, or failing to develop that quality (Bee Boyd 2003). During
this period of development, chances of developing a psychological quality or failing to develop that
quality are equal. He believes that the personal identity and future development of a person are
determined by the way he or she resolves the series of conflicts they go through. Concept of Erik
Erikson s Theory According to Erikson s theory, children will experience five basic conflicts which
will define their growth and future personality. The first stage of Erikson s Psychosocial Stages is that
of a conflict between Trust and Mistrust. It takes place in the period between when a child is born to a
time when he or she starts walking and involves Social and emotional development (Etaugh Rathus
1995). The balance between trust and mistrust depends on how the child is treated by the caregiver. If
the child s needs are met by the caregiver, he or she will develop a trust towards

The Growth Of The Internet
Introduction The growth of the internet has had a positive effect on various aspects of human activities
ranging from professional life to social life. More people are having access to the internet with time
and the products and services offered through the internet are increasing. Online streaming is one of
the services that have experienced a surge because of improved quality and access to the internet.
Online video streaming from paid or free online channels are very popular among individuals, and
they hold major entertainment promise. This can be justified by the varied nature of content that is

Uncertainty is associated with unpredictable outcomes while making transactions. When users are
unsure about successful subscription of online streaming, uncertainty occurs. For instance, there are
websites on internet that are fraud and once you make subscription for purchasing online content,
content never delivered to you and your invest mane lost. Uncertainty construct has three further
elements which uncertainty of service availability, uncertainty of content availability and media
quality. Another example is change in economic situation. Subscription rate tend to increase in future.
Sudden increase in price lead to high transaction costs. Therefore, uncertainty is positively related
with transaction cost. High level of uncertainty increases transactional cost. Similarly, buying
frequency reduces transaction costs and creates economies of transactions. Buying frequency is
exchange of goods and service. Increase in buying frequency reduces transactional cost. For instance,
frequent purchasing provides incentives to customers. Last factor is security, which is also negatively
associated with transaction cost. Security includes transaction security and personal informational
security. High level of security ensures low transactional cost. Customers have confidence on buying
content from online source and they do not require time and money to search for secure online source.
Therefore, this paper uses the transaction

Why Should International Law Deal With The Uncertainties...
PART 1A: In recent years, topics related to cybersecurity, cyberwarfare, and international law have
been covered extensively within the apparatuses of both foreign and domestic policies. As of now,
different scholarly experts and policy makers recommend various often conflicting strategies for
implementing a universal policy that benefits transnationally. Because cybersecurity is the newest and
most unique national security issue of the twenty first century, one highly recommended approach
which forms the bases of many popular policies is to require states to adopt a universal cyber warfare
doctrine. Yet, subject matter experts disagree on the effectiveness of this approach by mendicating the

By way of illustration, advancements in recent years indicate that cyberspace in particular is becoming
a viable theater of both international and political conflicts. Because of this, the possibility of
widespread ambivalences fought in cyberspace continues to rise. And with digital warfare capabilities
under current development, it is therefore necessary to understand two basic paramount political
debates: Should there be an international treaty on cyberwarfare? And is it important to explain cyber
warfare between states in the context of both domestic and international affairs; from a legal political
perspective? With that being said, cyberspace is everywhere (i.e. in today s world) presenting
significant implications for both global economic activity and also for international politics.

The Major Causes Of The Newark Uprising Of 1967
The Newark uprising of 1967 was the result of many different forms of injustices directed against the
black community in Newark. Police brutality was one of the major factors that contributed to the
people s uprising. When governor Hughes appointed a committee to investigate the causes of the
uprising and the ways to improve the relationship between the police and the Newark s community,
there were many testimonies and evidences that proved that police brutality was one of the major
causes leading to the uprising. Despite all the data and the evidences that the Governor s Commission
Report (GSCCD) included and the testimonies of many people that witnessed the uprising, the Report
of the New Jersey State Patrolmen s Benevolent Association (PBA) rejected the findings to the
Governor s Commission Report and claimed that police brutality was just a stereotype in the African
American neighborhoods. They suggested that the main reason that caused the uprising was the
weakness of official response (PBA Report ix) to criminal acts done by members of the black
community. This paper will focus mainly on assessing the arguments made by the PBA report and
comparing them with the GSCCD report and the testimonies of the witnesses of the uprising. The first
aspect of the uprising that the PBA report discussed is why did the uprising happened. They argue that
Brutality did exist, but it ran from the community to the police officers and that the charges against
police officers was an

Aggregate Demand Model
Question (3)
a) What is Aggregate Demand? (83%)
Aggregate demand is the total amount that all consumers, businesses, government agencies, and
foreigners spend on final goods and services.
Aggregate demand is represented by the aggregate demand curve, and it describes the relationship
between price levels and the quantity of output that firms are willing to provide. Aggregate demand is
not a fixed number because it depends on the price level.
The relationship between aggregate demand and the price level normally is a negative relationship,
which creates a downward sloping aggregate demand curve.
Aggregate demand is an aggregation of the microeconomic demand.
b) Develop a model showing the importance and effects of Aggregate Demand on the overall
economy. (83%)
The model is aggregate supply/ aggregate demand model (AS/AD Model). The AD/AS model is used
to illustrate the Keynesian model of the business cycle. Movements of the two curves can be used to
predict the effects that various exogenous events will have on two variables: real GDP and the price
level.
This model shows the importance of the importance and effect of the aggregate demand on the overall
economy. The government through its fiscal policy and the federal bank through its monetary policy
try to influence aggregate demand to influence the overall economy. For example, an increase in the
nominal money stock, as a result of monetary expansion policy, leads to a higher real money stock at

Anderson s proved to be a wonderful dining experience. For starters, the quality and taste of the food

atmosphere from the second I walked in. Lastly and most importantly, what stood out to me the most
was the quality of service throughout the meal. When I first walked through the door of the restaurant,

Why Design Can Not Remain Exclusive The Writers
Since the NSFNet was decommissioned in the early 1990 s and restrictions on commercial traffic was
removed, (Costello,2016) we have seen the individual empowered to a point where they can compete
with the tradition, media, retail and content outlets.(Abel, 2011) Right now, with social networks and
other tools on the Internet, all of these 500 million people have a way to say what they re thinking and
have their voice be heard. (Heussner, 2016) With this technological advancement, the individual has
been emancipated from total reliance on the publishers, record labels and retailers. Any individual

In the book Open Design Now: Why Design Cannot Remain Exclusive, Open design is defined as,
distributed manufacturing processes that emphasise the use related capabilities of openness . (Van
Abel, Evers, and Klaassen, 2014) Through information technology, digital manufacturing uses a
network of collaborative facilities that enable manufacturing to be sourced locally. We no longer have
to be restricted to using a single factory or distributor (Liu, Wang, and Wei, 2009). This method
compared to traditional low cost labour options, is more economically sound. In an Article, The Rise
of Distributed Manufacturing and 7 advantages over Traditional Manufacturing (Robinson,2014),
writer Adam Robinson gives two examples of an imaginary company that goes through the traditional
means of manufacturing and distributed manufacturing. In the traditional example a company must
source cheap labourers for the production of their product. when the product is made they are sent via
shipping containers, emitting fuels and taking additional time from the transportation process. If the
product were to undergo a distributed manufacturing process then the company would locally source
experts, there would be a higher labour cost for the design process but the additional costs would be
proportionate to the time and expense saved in the transport costs involved in the Traditional method.
(Robinson,2014) So what does the open in Open design mean?

Catharsis In Boxing The Compass
In Boxing the Compass, a third person narrator follows a woman waking into a day, the anniversary of
her mother s death. This woman rises from her bed, dresses, leaves her apartment, walks into a bakery
to buy bread, buys bread, returns to her apartment, heats water, writes, undresses, takes a bath,
redresses and leaves her apartment to catch a train to ride toward a graveyard to visit her mother s
grave. A seemingly simple plot develops rapidly into a complex labyrinth of the woman s memories,
her apprehension of the earth s rising temperatures and sea levels, her ideology regarding time, in
relation to the action of boxing a compass. Throughout Boxing the Compass, the daughter s grief over
losing her mother acts as a reflection and allows the audience to mourn the holocene s passing due to
drastic climate change: a change that enabled human beings to thrive, but will eventually, be their
demise as well. Florian is able to accomplish this by applying Aristotle s notions of catharsis to
Boxing the Compass. According to the Aristotelian notions of catharsis, a successful tragedy would
need to impart the feelings of grief and fear onto the audience. Therefore, the Aristotelian notions and
application of catharsis are what enable Florian to develop her central theme of ephemerality through
the use of an elaborate analogy of mourning the death of one s mother to mourning the holocene.
In Poetics, the term catharsis was originally used as a metaphor by Aristotle to explain the

The Lottery Offers A Wonderful Opportunity
The lottery offers a wonderful opportunity to possibly win millions of dollars. While this might seems
amazing, it might not be as wonderful as imagined. In fact, maybe even the opposite might true as
stated by numerous studies and research done since the 1970s. Lotteries have been reported to have
possibly started all the way back in the Han Dynasty early 200 B.C. The first official record of a
public lottery was in 1434 from the Dutch town of Sluis. The original idea of the lottery was to help
the lower class and fortify townships. It was not until the 1600s when the more modern form of the
lottery came about. Where one would buy a ticket for a small amount with the possibility to win a big
cash purse. Later, around 1890 much scrutiny and distrust surrounded the lottery which eventually led
to the United States stopping sales of tickets and made lotteries illegal. This was in effect until after
World War II and the iconic modern lotteries started to come back into everyday lives. At first it was
just separate state lotteries, but eventually in late 80s and early 90s interstate lotteries emerged which
include the famous Mega Million, originally named The Big Game, and Powerball. Some of the
success for the recent lotteries goes to the more credible system of checking and organizing tickets
called the Marksense system. The allure of the lottery is for a small charge, usually $1 or $2, there is
the possibility of winning millions. While the large majority of those who buy

The era of Renaissance art produce some of the most famous works of art that we ve seen during our
lifetimes. Dutch or Northern Renaissance art like Italian both included various forms of portraits that
express variations of human behaviors. The styles were a bit different as Italian focused on linear
perspective and Dutch was more focused on attention to detail and making them lifelike. Both used oil
based paints however, Italian Renaissance art was more mythical and religious whereas Dutch were
more landscapes, portraits, and scenic displays. The major difference between the two was how they
portrayed the imaged of people in the paintings which could be interpreted in various ways and

Themes In Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken
THE ROAD NOT TAKEN Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken, is a poem, or even a tale many readers
will relate to. It is a narrative of the choices in life and the crossroads in which the individual is faced
with. In the lines, there is quite clarity in the decisions and feelings of Frost throughout. His use of
imagery to paint beautiful landscapes and countless sub thoughts is extraordinary, yet he does it with
such few words. Although one could see this poem for how it reads and view the story of a solemn
traveler pacing down a road, when diving deep into its actual text one sees that Frost is trying to paint
a much deeper picture. This metaphor of a poem is written a way that anybody who reads it can
understand and relate. From each of the simple lines to the groupings of intricately placed words, this
work of art brings out the meaning and passion in a well lived life. In the first stanza the setting is laid
out before us. A fork in the road in the middle of a yellow wood. These two paths are unknown to the
solemn traveler. The first line in the poem states yellow wood, which gives the feeling that it would be
more of an autumn season. The autumn season is the beginning of dormancy in the forest life. It also
signals the nearing end of another joyous year. In life we have cycles just like the seasons cycle.
Periods of new growth such as spring or a new relationship perhaps. Summer, where we are enjoying
the things we have to the fullest. There is fall, when something nears to an end such as a vacation, the
ending of the year or maybe childhood when one must think about getting out in the world. Then,
there is winter: the darker portion of the cycle of life. The point in which we are waiting for the new to
begin or praying for the hurt to subside.
This cycle of life, and particularly the season of autumn, seems to pair up with the fork in the road or
the point where the traveler is ending this stretch of road and must embark upon a new path. Just as it
is in life when one period begins to draw to an end we must begin to think of the next set of choices or
paths to take. Most options in life do not allow for someone to have both. Just as the traveler we, too,
must choose a path for ourselves.

Influence of the Eu on Democracy in the Uk
Influence of the EU on Democracy in the UK One of the objectives of the creation of the European
Union was to develop a single market and remove trading barriers so there would be standardisation
of technical regulations and convergence of conditions between European markets. With this in mind,
it saw the need for employers and employees to work together in order to achieve this. The main
statement of the European social policy is the Social Charter (approved by 11 of the then 12 member
states) which seeks to improve working and living conditions and ensure the effective use of human

The IRA plays a big role in ensuring that employees are fairly treated in the workplace. Organizations
have opted to implement employee relations policies within their organizations as well. These provide
a forum for employee participation and employee involvement. Although organizations in Trinidad
and Tobago are governed by legislation, it is still ineffective in many instances. There are cases where
the recognized majority trade union defy the law and do not comply with the regulations of the IRA.
An example is the No Work Day Campaign by the Public Services Association in January, 2011. This
protest would clearly go against section 69 (1) where public servants are not allowed to take industrial
action. In relation to participation in the EU, various countries have different approaches to
encouraging employee participation. For example, in Germany, a system called co determination is
used where employees and their representatives are involved in all decisions relating to personnel and
other aspects of company policy. It is supported by legislation and involves three methods by which
workers can participate. These methods include a Works Council, Supervisory Board, and
Management Board. Works Councils are formed where there are more than five workers and consists
only of workers representatives. They have rights to receive information on health and safety, jobs,

Secondhand Smoking Persuasive Speech
It is a widely accepted fact that secondhand smoking is hazardous, and we have no real solutions.
Luckily, I have an idea to help solve this problem, but first I would like to go over some of the effects
of secondhand smoking. First is that secondhand smoking can cause lung cancer. Second is that it can
cause severe heart disease. Finally, third secondhand smoking is fatal to children. Now that I have told
you some of the dangerous effects I feel ready to share my idea. I, would like to propose that the state
of Utah pass a law requiring public areas such as parks or zoos to have designated smoking areas so
that the risk of secondhand smoking is greatly decreased. I believe that if you pass this law, it will
make a difference.
To begin with, I feel that making designated smoking areas in most public areas would be a good idea
because secondhand smoking greatly increases the chance of lung cancer. Cancer Research UK says
Passive smoking can increase a nonsmoker s risk of getting lung cancer by a quarter . This means that
secondhand smoking has a twenty five percent chance of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many deaths from heart diseases are caused by secondhand smoking. The center for Disease Control
and Prevention says that Since 1964, approximately 2,500,000 nonsmokers have died from health
problems caused by exposure to secondhand smoke. . This means that about 47,170 people died per
year due to health problems created by secondhand smoking. Secondhand smoking causes many
deaths in the United States. WebMD says Every year in the U.S., secondhand smoke causes about
34,000 deaths from heart disease and 7,300 deaths from lung cancer . This means that about sixty
seven percent of the people who died annually were in the United States. While there are many deaths
involved with heart disease which is the result of secondhand smoking, but there is one more thing I

If I Invest My Money Into A Stock
The famous philosopher Plato once stated, Excess generally causes reaction, and produces a change in
the opposite direction, whether it be in the seasons, or in individuals, or in governments. The inverted
u curve has three levels of input; the left side is equivalent to a sufficient amount, the middle consists
of a plateau, and the right side entails too much. The meaning of an inverted U curve is basically what
we in society classify as the highs and lows in any given situation. For example, in every category of
life just to name a few the stock market, schooling, work, finances, parenting, and health can have
extreme benefits that sustain or deficits in any benefit that lasts long periods of time. There is no

The impressionist unconventional methods surprised the elite in this circumstance. Second, Boes,
overcoming the odds through mastering compensation learning because of the learning disadvantages
he experienced throughout life his strategies had to be meticulous but yet eccentric in order to acquire

unconventional strategies or methods used by the underdog turned a perceived disadvantage into an
advantage. Hence, reinforcing Gladwells statement that, Giants are not what we think they are. The

How Does Octavia Butler s Use Of Protection
Octavia Butler s indirect use of characterization creates a Motif of protection in 1815 and in 1976. By
characterizing Kevin, Dana, and Nigel as Protective according to their personality. Octavia Butler
reveals the element of protection needed both in the past and the present, which helps create the cause
of white supremacy and results in violence because of the abuse and conflict as it follows. Susan
Elizabeth Phillips says: I finally figured out that not every crisis can be managed. As much as we want
to keep ourselves safe, we can t protect ourselves from everything. If we want to embrace life, we also
have to embrace chaos. (Phillips). Knowing protection cannot be given in both the past and the present
but can be prevented and prepared for. Susan says we can t protect yourself from everything and this
shows the relationship in both Dana, Kevin, Nigel, and Rufus that everything cannot be predicted or
foreseen without context clues.
Octavia Butler reveals Nigel trying to protect Dana from Tom W. owing to the fact that he tells her to
be mindful about how she speaks, because of this: he doesn t like any free and educated black (Butler

Event Changed My Life
I want to share with you five things that I implemented into my life that created amazing,
compounding change, and completely shifted the direction and energy of my life. I came to them
through reading, talking with others, and taking an honest look at my circumstances and the chain of
events that led me to be where I was. I was discouraged by the drudgery, loneliness, and lack of
direction I found embedded in my day to day experience. I used the wisdom and experience of many
to create a plan of action that has surprised me with it s effectiveness and simplicity. Change is
available to everyone, and it is available right now. I remember how helpful first hand accounts from
others were to me and I hope to pass a little of that along here ... Show more content on

I had a fairly physically demanding job, but I added an hour walking the dog five days a week (really
chugging along, get the heart rate up) and two 20 minutes strength sessions per week, weights, sit ups,
lunges, etc. It is good for the body and mind. As my friend said, The only people who couldn t sleep in
the good old days were alcoholics when the still ran dry, everyone else worked from dawn to dusk and
fell down dead at the end of the day. Well I didn t want to start scratching out a living on a farm, so I
started walking. It helped. A lot. b) Routine: I started going to bed within a one hour window, and
waking up within a one hour window, regardless of what was going on. For me this was to bed
between ten and eleven, and up between five and six. So even if I had the day off I was up at six. If I
couldn t fall asleep at eleven, especially at first, I got up and read or wrote. No tv or computer or
cleaning project or late night snack/beverage. If I fell asleep at five a.m. I still rolled out of bed at
seven a.m. No day time napping! This is tricky at first, while your still not sleeping well, but it is
essential, and gets easier day by day. c) Avoiding stuff : Caffeine after four; food after six; bright
lighting after nine (light affects sleep hormones); all sleep aids, prescription or over the counter (this

Difference Between Sleep Drive And The Circadian Alerting...
Sleep is a complex phenomenon, best understood as the product of two intertwined biological systems
: the sleep drive and the circadian alerting system. The sleep drive is our biological need for sleep. The
sleep drive can be thought of as a tank that empties and fills throughout the course of a day, like the
gas tank in a car. When you sleep at night, the tank is filled with sleep. You awaken in the morning,
refueled and ready to drive through the day. The longer you drive through the day, the more the tank
depletes. By bedtime, the tank is on E ; it is empty and you must sleep to replenish it. The sleep drive
forces sleep, so that your tank can be refilled, and your biological sleep need is met. The circadian
alerting system

Bruno Mars s Music At The American Music Awards
Sunday night November 20, 2016. This is the night the American Music Awards (AMA s) opened in
2016. The American Music Awards is a huge event in the music industry. This event is sometimes
compared to the Grammys. As we all know, the opening and closing acts are the most important
because you have to start the show off right to get everyone in that good and exciting mood, then it is
also important to end the show with that special performance to remember until next year s event
comes. At the 2016 American Music Awards, Bruno Mars stole the show with this amazing opening of

The stage performance is also a great factor into putting on a good show. That is no problem for bruno
mars. Bruno mars always has everyone moving when he steps onto the stage. Bruno mars shows any
gig he plays in that no matter how old you are, you will be on your feet dancing to the music. Mars
does this by coming up with great dance choreography and having great background dancers to back
him up. The entrance to the show needs to be perfect in order to get the audience moving with you. He
opened the show with amazing lights and hit the stage with his tight dance moves with his other stage
dancers. Each step was in unison with everyone else and it looked like no one skipped a step. This
perfection went on throughout the entire performance. When a different beat came on, a new dance
move came out. In the middle/ending of the song, the lights dimmed and he appeared on the stage
with four new dancers. The beat dropped and a new one came on for about a minute of the
performance. No singing went on and all there was was dancing. You can tell hours went into just this
little minute of the performance because the way he presented the dance was abstract and you can tell
that everyone was on beat and where they were suppose to be. Not many singers can break it down in
a dance like Bruno Mars did.

As The Attitudes Of American Households Begin To Shift,
As the attitudes of American households begin to shift, the FCC should enact a new regulation to best
fit the changing viewership of consumers. At its simplest form, this new rule would allow television
consumers to have the option to pick and choose the individual television channels they desire to pay
for, instead of having to pay for an entire cable package , while still including the basic cable service.
Essentially, this new regulation would force cable TV providers to allow the option for an à la carte
pricing rate for expanded cable television services. While the proposed rule would make cable
providers deviate from market driven logic, the overall effects of it would alter the medium of
television for the better. (Lotz ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The 1992 act subjected cable rates to regulation under most circumstances excluding cable systems
that were subject to effective competition. (Public Access Awareness Association) Also, it allowed the
FCC to regulate rates for other service tiers if they found that a cable system s rates were unreasonable
under FCC regulation. (McCarthy)
Nevertheless, the 1992 act was followed by the Telecommunications Act of 1996. During this time,
shifting cable policies and deregulation of ownership had massive implications for the industry s
operation (Lotz 52) Thus, because of its intent to create a competitive market, the FCC was no longer
able to regulate the rates for non basic service tiers. According to the FCC, basic cable service rates
may be regulated by local franchising authorities such as the city, county or other governmental
organizations, but are not required to do so. On the other hand, the rates you pay for other cable
programming and services, such as expanded cable channel packages, premium movie channels and
pay per view sports events, are set by your cable TV provider. (FCC) So, in actuality, the FCC still
does not regulate any rates charged by cable providers, thereby giving them the monopolistic power of
rate regulation and overall ability to engage in rate inflation.
Although the FCC has attempted numerous deregulatory/regulatory measures, it still has not provided

My Favorite School Field Trip
Some people wouldn t think school could be fun. All that we do is learn. All field trips we go on are
just educational and boring. Well some might be, but many can be fun. You would never think
somewhere you ve always wanted to go to would be your next field trip. Somewhere really fun. I have
thought plenty of times in the past that I didn t want to go on the trip it was boring, but I was wrong
and this is why.
My first favorite school memory was in eighth grade. I was in chorus and we were going on a trip to
Massachusetts with the band for a competition. I was super excited and couldn t wait to sell all of my
tickets. When the day finally came I was so excited. We rode in a coach bus which was really cool
because I ve never been in one before. When we arrived in Massachusetts we headed over to where
we were having the competition. The competition was being held at a really big school. We performed
and sounded really good. I was super nervous I didn t want to mess up since I had never done that
before.
When we were finally done the competition we got our award handed to us and our tickets to get into
Six Flags. We left the school and head off on our journey to Agawam, Massachusetts where Six Flags
was located. As we got closer and closer there were flags on the side of the road leading us there and
my anticipation grew even stronger. I couldn t wait to get there.
Once we finally arrived everyone couldn t wait to get off the bus and have some fun. I was really
excited. We got off the bus and had a really long walk to get into the park. There were no close
parking spaces for the bus so we had to go all the way to the back parking lot and walk up to the
entrance. Once I walked into the park it was so much bigger than any I expected. All the roller
coasters were huge. I didn t get to go on any because everyone would ask me to hold their stuff but a
couple things I did go on were the bumper cars, a water slide, a boat ride and I played some mini
games. Those were fun enough for me but if I ever go back again I am going to try the roller coasters.
The water slide was really fun. All you had to do was go up a ramp inside a tube and the ramp would
push you down the slide while water was being splashed at

Character Analysis Of Olunde
Olunde attempts to reveal to Jane the greatness of his father s sacrifice for his peace and the peace of
his own people, his father is going to commit suicide to save his community from destruction.
However, Jane cannot understand the implication of that sacrifice which she regards as a barbaric
custom or even feudalistic. Olunde s long conversation with Jane reveals the arrogance, vulnerability,
disintegration and hypocrisy of the English people. He expresses the terrible conditions of war he
underwent during his stay in England. As a medical student there, Olunde has seen the West on its

Pilkings who is responsible for security particularly during the visit of the Prince of Wales. Olunde is

Elesin begs Olunde to acknowledge him but in vain; Olunde, who has respected his tradition, disowns
his father. It is noteworthy that initially Elesin disowned Olunde because of abandoning his tradition
and leaving for England. The situation is reversed; Olunde now casts off his father who has failed in
the central duty and meaning of his life ( Plastow, Notes 88 ). Olunde, who has realized the greatness
of his culture, sticks firmly to it and decides to take his father s place by committing the ritual suicide

The Controversy Of Volkswagen s Prosecution
Too often I find myself utterly shocked at how fickle people are. After Volkswagen was caught
polluting at a horrifying rate, people grew outraged. The company immediately apologized, fired their
CEO, and paid their customers a modest fee. Six months later, people are still brandishing pitchforks
against the company, yet no one cares that General Motors was shamelessly letting people die for 15
years, anymore. The court case against GM yielded less than nothing for the American people, when
one considers the fact that GM paid less in fees, than the amount they were bailed out with using
taxpayer money. Before the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) opened their false advertising case

Social Issues In Social Work
Many problems remain in the American society such as the increasing number of people living in
poverty, the juvenile crime rate, unaffordable housing for the working middle class and poor people,
backlash against illegal immigration, and the shortfall in social welfare programs (black). Social
workers try to combat these problems, which are a result of society, economics, and development
problems. Social work in the United States is a profession about promoting and offering social
services through practicing with people, communities, and organizations; advocating with and for
clients; and creating social work knowledge (Writing in social work). Social work in the United States
utilized the direct practice with individuals, families, and communities. Social workers need to
continue to advocate for social problems (Writing in social work).
During poor law times, society aimed to exclude and discriminate against those who don t belong
(red). This trend has continued through today, as the exclusion of people still exists. The legacy of
workhouses and of the Poor Law remains today in the ideology that the family should be the main
provider of care for those in need, poor people should be deterred from seeking help, and public
assistance should be below the minimum wage (red).
In the 19th century, Rescue organizations emerged to prevent child cruelty (red). These organizations
were a voluntary effort with the task of investigating and bringing justice to child cruelty. Today, we

Franklins Preface To Poor Rich Essay
In Benjamin Franklin amp;#8217;s preface to Poor Richard Improved, quot; The Way to Wealth quot;,
Franklin offers many adages to help the reader conserve money. Many of these sayings are common
even today. The title of this preface makes since because the title, quot; The Way to Wealth quot;, can
be interpreted as The Road to Wealth. If the reader does as these adages tell them, he or she should be
on their way to wealth. Franklin offers advice to just about anybody. Franklin believed that wealth was
important because it led to both frugality and industry. Frugality and industry were listed as his fifth
and sixth virtues.
Franklin tells us that in order to be industrious, we must always be employed in something useful. His
proverb, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Franklin tells us that in order to be frugal, we can amp;#8217;t waste anything. People who spend
lavishly should listen to the maxim, quot;Silks and Satins, Scarlet and Velvets put out the Kitchen Fire
quot;. This saying reminds us that the nice, expensive things all work just as well as the generic ones.
Another proverb that a person with no frugality should abide by is, quot;Women and Wine, Game and
Deceit, Make the Wealth small, and the Wants great. quot; This is one I can definitely relate to.
Women, wine, and playing around all do put a dent in your pocket book.
quot;Early to Bed, and Early to rise, makes a Man healthy, wealthy, and wise quot;, is another I can
relate to. This maxim is directed to all slothful people. My constant tardiness proves my laziness and
my need to abide by this one. Another similar adage is, quot;Plough deep, While Sluggards sleep, and
you should have Corn to sell and to keep. quot; Both of these maxims tell us that in order to get ahead,
you can amp;#8217;t be lazy.
Franklin believed that a person that listens to the sayings would avoid being poor. He wrote that
poverty robs a person of their spirit and virtue. His proverb, quot; amp;#8216;Tis hard for an empty
bag to stand upright quot;, lets us know that it is hard to function with no spirit or virtues. I would
suggest reading this preface to anyone who has problems with money. The sayings still hold true in
today amp;#8217;s society. Many

Essay on California Space Heaters
California Space Heaters, Inc.
November 30, 2010
There is a fine line between how much safety a corporation should provide to the consumer regarding
its products vs. how much responsibility of safety should fall on the average consumer. Take, for
instance, the all too familiar McDonald s coffee episode. Does McDonald s have a responsibility to its
customers to ensure the coffee isn t hot enough to scald if spilled upon one s lap? Or should the
customer be held responsible for their own safety in regards to common sense judgment? This is what
California Space Heaters, Inc. (CSH) must consider when deciding exactly which products to launch.

A corporation that has been given such estimates from its engineering department has a responsibility
to implement a safety device. Electric start is the single most important option that should be
incorporated on all models for safety reasons. The profile of users in a shop or garage setting differs
greatly from users in a home. Users in a shop or garage are more likely to be mechanically inclined.
Additionally, safety features are arguably more important in a home than in a shop or garage. In a
home, the heater is typically closer to combustibles, including furniture, curtains, and carpet. Due to
these variables, CSH should market an indoor/outdoor heater and an outdoor only heater. The only
necessary option on the outdoor heater is the electric start, as previously discussed. A shop or garage
user will likely be more mechanically inclined and able to adjust the wick accurately. A thermostat
shouldn t be needed because the unit will less likely be near combustibles. Overheating due to flare
ups will not be as big of an issue either because of the surroundings, not to mention the user is more
likely to notice flare ups because the unit will only be operating when he or she is in the garage or
shop, in most cases. A removable tank would also not be necessary since fill up is easier outdoors.
On the other hand, the indoor/outdoor heater should have three options incorporated on the base
model. The first is the electric start option, as mentioned

  • 2. Morality And Ethics On Transhumanism Morality and Ethics on Transhumanism A Concentrated Look at The Diamond Age Stephan Ehr Science Fiction HU 424 April 17, 2015 Envision a world where nano sized robots can burrow themselves into your skin just by touching something or perhaps explode within you on command. Consider perchance, a world were humans have collective thoughts and can generate the processing power of a super computer. Sounds like something out of an awesome dream or a nightmare, depending on how you perceive it. These are just some of the ideas that are presented in transhumanism. Transhumanism can be explained as the belief that the human race can advance past its current physical and intellectual confines through the use of technology (Bostrom, 2014). In the current world we live in, we are limited by a number of factors, many of these include the scientific limitations and the properties of physics. On the other side of the limitations, lay the concepts of morality and ethical issues. Along with those concepts include how this technology correlates to our current world. In the novel The Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson, humans live alongside nanobots (and various other technology) in a transhumanist world. In this advanced world, the ideas of morality and ethics are still present within the human race. In many aspects, the morality and ethical issues that humans encounter today are reencountered in this transhuman world. In the novel The Diamond Age, Neal opens the story with the ... • 3. Theseus Hero s Journey Analysis Theseus, the newly found prince of Athens, embarks on several hero journeys including on against Minos Minotaur and the Labyrinth. Joseph Campbell s representation of the hero s journey fully encompasses Theseus narrative throughout his quest to defeat the Minotaur. Beginning with a call to adventure on through the crossing of the threshold and on to the reward and resurrection. Compared to Rank s hero s journey which includes a revelation and transformation with atonement, Campbell s process fits more precisely to Theseus story. If compared to Joseph Campbell s hero s journey theory, Theseus is considered a mythological hero; however, not in a historical manner in which he is often accredited. According to Campbell, the first step in a hero s journey is a call to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Minotaur, meaning Minos bull, was a monster of dire appearance, having the body of a powerful man and the head of a bull (Seltman 98). Against his newfound father s request, Theseus leaves Athens in hopes of returning victorious against the bull headed beast. In a heroic fashion, Theseus leaps over the next step in Campbell s hero journey and never refuses his call to adventure. The next step to any hero s journey is an encounter with a super natural aid, but Theseus story takes a moral mentor to gather resources needed for the rest of his journey (Robertson 269). Theseus encounters his unlikely mentor upon arriving to Crete; Minos daughter, Ariadne, instructs Theseus to take a ball of linen with him into the labyrinth in order to trace back his steps after defeating the Minotaur (Martin 129). Crossing the threshold, Theseus ties one end of his ball of linen to the front door and journeys into the unconquerable maze and towards the beast (129). Theseus passes through his first trial of navigating the labyrinth inwards with ease straight into danger. Walking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Columbian Exchange Dbq Why Europe Conquered the Americas and not the Other Way Around? The old world, specifically Europe shaped history; it was an age of exploration and expansion. Europe was one of the first civilizations and that gave them a head start to explore new lands, find new ideas, and domesticate more animals. The following sources support the fact that Europe Conquered the Americas, these documents include: The Columbian Exchange written by Nathan Nunn and Nancy Qian convey the message that through trading of animals, ideas, diseases, food crops, and population between the new world and the old world helped shape the civilization of Europe and gave Europe the push to conquer the Americas (Columbian exchange). Additionally, in the Guns, Germs, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Columbian exchange was passed through the old, new worlds, and Africa (Columbian Exchange). The geography of these three places and their downfalls and rises all work together to import and export goods and species (Columbian Exchange). They exported goods, slaves, and animals (Columbian Exchange). Europeans all together were the best at trading for goods and exporting goods to making themselves have such an early advantage (Columbian Exchange). The Columbian exchange refers to the exchange of diseases, ideas, food crops, and populations between the new world and old world following the voyage to the Americas by Christopher Columbus in 1492, by the old world meaning the eastern hemisphere (Columbian Exchange). The discoveries of new supplies and metals is the best known, the old world also gained staple crops, sugar and coffee (Columbian Exchange). The exchange of disease occurred such as smallpox, measles, and typhus. Some cuisines of countries were altered by the Columbian exchange; it introduced a wide range of new calorically rich staple crops to the old world namely potatoes, sweet potatoes, maize, and cassavas. The Europeans adapted tobacco. Sugar cane was extremely important for the European masses (Columbian Exchange). The potato provided a large supply of calories and nutrients, it had a positive growth on the population by 12%, and it effected urbanization by 47% as well (Columbian Exchange). Slaves were also imported into the Americas because of the spread of old world diseases to native Americans, the cultivation of highly priced old world crops such as sugar and coffee(Columbian Exchange). • 5. The Smarter Generation Is Not The Dumbest Generation The dumbest generation is not the Millennials. Indeed this generation is smarter than previous generations because of better technology, and better learning of new vocabulary on everything that we watch and play as on video games, TV shows, we are always learning new stuff every time. New generation s also have proof that we are more intelligent in test that people have taken to compare older IQ levels and newer generations IQ levels. There can be some proof that this generation is getting lazier and learning is lacking and we always depend more on our phone, but in my opinion we are still the smartest generation yet. Is this generation the dumbest yet to come? No. people do not think the Millennials are the dumbest generation in fact, this generation is thought to be smarter than previous generations. Millennials have so many things that this generation has improved that has also made millennials smarter, everything they do makes them smarter each time just like playing video games which you always remember on how to pass a mission, which you remember that last time you died when you made a wrong move so obviously next time you won t go through that spot or you won t do the same act that got you killed in your other game life. Newer generations also have proof to tell the older generations that they are smarter because of proof that we have better IQ levels than the older generation, yes older generations can say that this new generation may be dumber, but they just have opinions not facts at all, but us, we have facts that we are smarter. IQ score have been on the rise since 1930s (B, Begley). With this evidence it is more valuable than any of Bauerlein s claims because they are just his opinions against actual evidence that has been tested by scientist to actually approve that we are getting smarter. Also video games have helped us a lot in improving our skills and better competitivity to learn/win. Did video games ever sound so learnful to parents? You may guess not, but actually video games help us on our learning of everyday. Video games do not look like a learning factor for some people, but actually video games have helped lots of kids learn new vocabulary words that are simple used in the ... Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Theory On Child Development Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Theory on Child Development Erik Erikson, a well known developmental theorist, developed his theory about stages of human development from birth to death by using Freud s work as a starting point. According to Erikson, personality develops in a series of stages. Erikson found out that children experience conflicts which affect their development. He described the internal conflict which children go through in developmental stages using the term crisis and are based on either developing a psychological quality, or failing to develop that quality (Bee Boyd 2003). During this period of development, chances of developing a psychological quality or failing to develop that quality are equal. He believes that the personal identity and future development of a person are determined by the way he or she resolves the series of conflicts they go through. Concept of Erik Erikson s Theory According to Erikson s theory, children will experience five basic conflicts which will define their growth and future personality. The first stage of Erikson s Psychosocial Stages is that of a conflict between Trust and Mistrust. It takes place in the period between when a child is born to a time when he or she starts walking and involves Social and emotional development (Etaugh Rathus 1995). The balance between trust and mistrust depends on how the child is treated by the caregiver. If the child s needs are met by the caregiver, he or she will develop a trust towards ... PART 1A: In recent years, topics related to cybersecurity, cyberwarfare, and international law have been covered extensively within the apparatuses of both foreign and domestic policies. As of now, different scholarly experts and policy makers recommend various often conflicting strategies for implementing a universal policy that benefits transnationally. Because cybersecurity is the newest and most unique national security issue of the twenty first century, one highly recommended approach which forms the bases of many popular policies is to require states to adopt a universal cyber warfare doctrine. Because of this, the possibility of widespread ambivalences fought in cyberspace continues to rise. And is it important to explain cyber warfare between states in the context of both domestic and international affairs; from a legal political perspective? With that being said, cyberspace is everywhere (i.e. in today s world) presenting significant implications for both global economic activity and also for international politics. Police brutality was one of the major factors that contributed to the people s uprising. When governor Hughes appointed a committee to investigate the causes of the uprising and the ways to improve the relationship between the police and the Newark s community, there were many testimonies and evidences that proved that police brutality was one of the major causes leading to the uprising. Despite all the data and the evidences that the Governor s Commission Report (GSCCD) included and the testimonies of many people that witnessed the uprising, the Report of the New Jersey State Patrolmen s Benevolent Association (PBA) rejected the findings to the Governor s Commission Report and claimed that police brutality was just a stereotype in the African American neighborhoods. They suggested that the main reason that caused the uprising was the weakness of official response (PBA Report ix) to criminal acts done by members of the black community. This paper will focus mainly on assessing the arguments made by the PBA report and comparing them with the GSCCD report and the testimonies of the witnesses of the uprising. The first aspect of the uprising that the PBA report discussed is why did the uprising happened. They argue that Brutality did exist, but it ran from the community to the police officers and that the charges against police officers was an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Aggregate Demand Model Question (3) a) What is Aggregate Demand? (83%) Aggregate demand is the total amount that all consumers, businesses, government agencies, and foreigners spend on final goods and services. Aggregate demand is represented by the aggregate demand curve, and it describes the relationship between price levels and the quantity of output that firms are willing to provide. Aggregate demand is not a fixed number because it depends on the price level. The relationship between aggregate demand and the price level normally is a negative relationship, which creates a downward sloping aggregate demand curve. Aggregate demand is an aggregation of the microeconomic demand. b) Develop a model showing the importance and effects of Aggregate Demand on the overall economy. We no longer have to be restricted to using a single factory or distributor (Liu, Wang, and Wei, 2009). This method compared to traditional low cost labour options, is more economically sound. In an Article, The Rise of Distributed Manufacturing and 7 advantages over Traditional Manufacturing (Robinson,2014), writer Adam Robinson gives two examples of an imaginary company that goes through the traditional means of manufacturing and distributed manufacturing. In the traditional example a company must source cheap labourers for the production of their product. when the product is made they are sent via shipping containers, emitting fuels and taking additional time from the transportation process. If the product were to undergo a distributed manufacturing process then the company would locally source experts, there would be a higher labour cost for the design process but the additional costs would be proportionate to the time and expense saved in the transport costs involved in the Traditional method. • 16. Catharsis In Boxing The Compass In Boxing the Compass, a third person narrator follows a woman waking into a day, the anniversary of her mother s death. This woman rises from her bed, dresses, leaves her apartment, walks into a bakery to buy bread, buys bread, returns to her apartment, heats water, writes, undresses, takes a bath, redresses and leaves her apartment to catch a train to ride toward a graveyard to visit her mother s grave. A seemingly simple plot develops rapidly into a complex labyrinth of the woman s memories, her apprehension of the earth s rising temperatures and sea levels, her ideology regarding time, in relation to the action of boxing a compass. Throughout Boxing the Compass, the daughter s grief over losing her mother acts as a reflection and allows the audience to mourn the holocene s passing due to drastic climate change: a change that enabled human beings to thrive, but will eventually, be their demise as well. Florian is able to accomplish this by applying Aristotle s notions of catharsis to Boxing the Compass. According to the Aristotelian notions of catharsis, a successful tragedy would need to impart the feelings of grief and fear onto the audience. Therefore, the Aristotelian notions and application of catharsis are what enable Florian to develop her central theme of ephemerality through the use of an elaborate analogy of mourning the death of one s mother to mourning the holocene. While this might seems amazing, it might not be as wonderful as imagined. In fact, maybe even the opposite might true as stated by numerous studies and research done since the 1970s. Lotteries have been reported to have possibly started all the way back in the Han Dynasty early 200 B.C. The first official record of a public lottery was in 1434 from the Dutch town of Sluis. The original idea of the lottery was to help the lower class and fortify townships. It was not until the 1600s when the more modern form of the lottery came about. Where one would buy a ticket for a small amount with the possibility to win a big cash purse. Later, around 1890 much scrutiny and distrust surrounded the lottery which eventually led to the United States stopping sales of tickets and made lotteries illegal. This was in effect until after World War II and the iconic modern lotteries started to come back into everyday lives. At first it was just separate state lotteries, but eventually in late 80s and early 90s interstate lotteries emerged which include the famous Mega Million, originally named The Big Game, and Powerball. Some of the success for the recent lotteries goes to the more credible system of checking and organizing tickets called the Marksense system. The allure of the lottery is for a small charge, usually $1 or $2, there is the possibility of winning millions. While the large majority of those who buy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Themes In Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken THE ROAD NOT TAKEN Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken, is a poem, or even a tale many readers will relate to. It is a narrative of the choices in life and the crossroads in which the individual is faced with. In the lines, there is quite clarity in the decisions and feelings of Frost throughout. His use of imagery to paint beautiful landscapes and countless sub thoughts is extraordinary, yet he does it with such few words. Although one could see this poem for how it reads and view the story of a solemn traveler pacing down a road, when diving deep into its actual text one sees that Frost is trying to paint a much deeper picture. This metaphor of a poem is written a way that anybody who reads it can understand and relate. From each of the simple lines to the groupings of intricately placed words, this work of art brings out the meaning and passion in a well lived life. In the first stanza the setting is laid out before us. A fork in the road in the middle of a yellow wood. These two paths are unknown to the solemn traveler. The first line in the poem states yellow wood, which gives the feeling that it would be more of an autumn season. The autumn season is the beginning of dormancy in the forest life. It also signals the nearing end of another joyous year. In life we have cycles just like the seasons cycle. Periods of new growth such as spring or a new relationship perhaps. Summer, where we are enjoying the things we have to the fullest. There is fall, when something nears to an end such as a vacation, the ending of the year or maybe childhood when one must think about getting out in the world. Then, there is winter: the darker portion of the cycle of life. The point in which we are waiting for the new to begin or praying for the hurt to subside. This cycle of life, and particularly the season of autumn, seems to pair up with the fork in the road or the point where the traveler is ending this stretch of road and must embark upon a new path. Just as it is in life when one period begins to draw to an end we must begin to think of the next set of choices or paths to take. Most options in life do not allow for someone to have both. Just as the traveler we, too, must choose a path for ourselves. In the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At its simplest form, this new rule would allow television consumers to have the option to pick and choose the individual television channels they desire to pay for, instead of having to pay for an entire cable package , while still including the basic cable service. Essentially, this new regulation would force cable TV providers to allow the option for an à la carte pricing rate for expanded cable television services. While the proposed rule would make cable providers deviate from market driven logic, the overall effects of it would alter the medium of television for the better. (Lotz ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The 1992 act subjected cable rates to regulation under most circumstances excluding cable systems that were subject to effective competition. (Public Access Awareness Association) Also, it allowed the FCC to regulate rates for other service tiers if they found that a cable system s rates were unreasonable under FCC regulation. (McCarthy) Nevertheless, the 1992 act was followed by the Telecommunications Act of 1996. During this time, shifting cable policies and deregulation of ownership had massive implications for the industry s operation (Lotz 52) Thus, because of its intent to create a competitive market, the FCC was no longer able to regulate the rates for non basic service tiers. According to the FCC, basic cable service rates may be regulated by local franchising authorities such as the city, county or other governmental organizations, but are not required to do so. On the other hand, the rates you pay for other cable programming and services, such as expanded cable channel packages, premium movie channels and pay per view sports events, are set by your cable TV provider. (FCC) So, in actuality, the FCC still does not regulate any rates charged by cable providers, thereby giving them the monopolistic power of rate regulation and overall ability to engage in rate inflation. Although the FCC has attempted numerous deregulatory/regulatory measures, it still has not provided for what the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. My Favorite School Field Trip Some people wouldn t think school could be fun. All that we do is learn. All field trips we go on are just educational and boring. Well some might be, but many can be fun. You would never think somewhere you ve always wanted to go to would be your next field trip. Somewhere really fun. I have thought plenty of times in the past that I didn t want to go on the trip it was boring, but I was wrong and this is why. My first favorite school memory was in eighth grade. I was in chorus and we were going on a trip to Massachusetts with the band for a competition. I was super excited and couldn t wait to sell all of my tickets. When the day finally came I was so excited. We rode in a coach bus which was really cool because I ve never been in one before. When we arrived in Massachusetts we headed over to where we were having the competition. The competition was being held at a really big school. We performed and sounded really good. I was super nervous I didn t want to mess up since I had never done that before. When we were finally done the competition we got our award handed to us and our tickets to get into Six Flags. We left the school and head off on our journey to Agawam, Massachusetts where Six Flags was located. As we got closer and closer there were flags on the side of the road leading us there and my anticipation grew even stronger. I couldn t wait to get there. Once we finally arrived everyone couldn t wait to get off the bus and have some fun. I was really excited. We got off the bus and had a really long walk to get into the park. There were no close parking spaces for the bus so we had to go all the way to the back parking lot and walk up to the entrance. Once I walked into the park it was so much bigger than any I expected. All the roller coasters were huge. I didn t get to go on any because everyone would ask me to hold their stuff but a couple things I did go on were the bumper cars, a water slide, a boat ride and I played some mini games. Those were fun enough for me but if I ever go back again I am going to try the roller coasters. The water slide was really fun. All you had to do was go up a ramp inside a tube and the ramp would push you down the slide while water was being splashed at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Character Analysis Of Olunde Olunde attempts to reveal to Jane the greatness of his father s sacrifice for his peace and the peace of his own people, his father is going to commit suicide to save his community from destruction. However, Jane cannot understand the implication of that sacrifice which she regards as a barbaric custom or even feudalistic. Olunde s long conversation with Jane reveals the arrogance, vulnerability, disintegration and hypocrisy of the English people. He expresses the terrible conditions of war he underwent during his stay in England. As a medical student there, Olunde has seen the West on its own grounds, complete in its wartime vulnerabilities. It is noteworthy that initially Elesin disowned Olunde because of abandoning his tradition and leaving for England. The situation is reversed; Olunde now casts off his father who has failed in the central duty and meaning of his life ( Plastow, Notes 88 ). • 34. The Controversy Of Volkswagen s Prosecution Too often I find myself utterly shocked at how fickle people are. After Volkswagen was caught polluting at a horrifying rate, people grew outraged. The company immediately apologized, fired their CEO, and paid their customers a modest fee. Six months later, people are still brandishing pitchforks against the company, yet no one cares that General Motors was shamelessly letting people die for 15 years, anymore. The court case against GM yielded less than nothing for the American people, when one considers the fact that GM paid less in fees, than the amount they were bailed out with using taxpayer money. • 35. Social Issues In Social Work Many problems remain in the American society such as the increasing number of people living in poverty, the juvenile crime rate, unaffordable housing for the working middle class and poor people, backlash against illegal immigration, and the shortfall in social welfare programs (black). Social workers try to combat these problems, which are a result of society, economics, and development problems. Social work in the United States is a profession about promoting and offering social services through practicing with people, communities, and organizations; advocating with and for clients; and creating social work knowledge (Writing in social work). Social work in the United States utilized the direct practice with individuals, families, and communities. Social workers need to continue to advocate for social problems (Writing in social work). During poor law times, society aimed to exclude and discriminate against those who don t belong (red). This trend has continued through today, as the exclusion of people still exists. The legacy of workhouses and of the Poor Law remains today in the ideology that the family should be the main provider of care for those in need, poor people should be deterred from seeking help, and public assistance should be below the minimum wage (red). In the 19th century, Rescue organizations emerged to prevent child cruelty (red). These organizations were a voluntary effort with the task of investigating and bringing justice to child cruelty. • 36. Franklins Preface To Poor Rich Essay In Benjamin Franklin amp;#8217;s preface to Poor Richard Improved, quot; The Way to Wealth quot;, Franklin offers many adages to help the reader conserve money. Many of these sayings are common even today. The title of this preface makes since because the title, quot; The Way to Wealth quot;, can be interpreted as The Road to Wealth. If the reader does as these adages tell them, he or she should be on their way to wealth. Franklin offers advice to just about anybody. Franklin believed that wealth was important because it led to both frugality and industry. Frugality and industry were listed as his fifth and sixth virtues. Franklin tells us that in order to be industrious, we must always be employed in something useful. His proverb, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Franklin tells us that in order to be frugal, we can amp;#8217;t waste anything. People who spend lavishly should listen to the maxim, quot;Silks and Satins, Scarlet and Velvets put out the Kitchen Fire quot;. This saying reminds us that the nice, expensive things all work just as well as the generic ones. Another proverb that a person with no frugality should abide by is, quot;Women and Wine, Game and Deceit, Make the Wealth small, and the Wants great. quot; This is one I can definitely relate to. Women, wine, and playing around all do put a dent in your pocket book. quot;Early to Bed, and Early to rise, makes a Man healthy, wealthy, and wise quot;, is another I can relate to. This maxim is directed to all slothful people. My constant tardiness proves my laziness and my need to abide by this one. Another similar adage is, quot;Plough deep, While Sluggards sleep, and you should have Corn to sell and to keep. quot; Both of these maxims tell us that in order to get ahead, you can amp;#8217;t be lazy. Franklin believed that a person that listens to the sayings would avoid being poor. He wrote that poverty robs a person of their spirit and virtue. His proverb, quot; amp;#8216;Tis hard for an empty bag to stand upright quot;, lets us know that it is hard to function with no spirit or virtues. I would suggest reading this preface to anyone who has problems with money. The sayings still hold true in today amp;#8217;s society. Many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. Essay on California Space Heaters California Space Heaters, Inc. November 30, 2010 There is a fine line between how much safety a corporation should provide to the consumer regarding its products vs. how much responsibility of safety should fall on the average consumer. Take, for instance, the all too familiar McDonald s coffee episode. Does McDonald s have a responsibility to its customers to ensure the coffee isn t hot enough to scald if spilled upon one s lap? Or should the customer be held responsible for their own safety in regards to common sense judgment? This is what California Space Heaters, Inc. (CSH) must consider when deciding exactly which products to launch. Kerosene heaters are often times used in shops and garages as well as inside homes. They ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A corporation that has been given such estimates from its engineering department has a responsibility to implement a safety device. Electric start is the single most important option that should be incorporated on all models for safety reasons. The profile of users in a shop or garage setting differs greatly from users in a home. Users in a shop or garage are more likely to be mechanically inclined. Additionally, safety features are arguably more important in a home than in a shop or garage. In a home, the heater is typically closer to combustibles, including furniture, curtains, and carpet. Due to these variables, CSH should market an indoor/outdoor heater and an outdoor only heater. The only necessary option on the outdoor heater is the electric start, as previously discussed. A shop or garage user will likely be more mechanically inclined and able to adjust the wick accurately. A thermostat shouldn t be needed because the unit will less likely be near combustibles. Overheating due to flare ups will not be as big of an issue either because of the surroundings, not to mention the user is more likely to notice flare ups because the unit will only be operating when he or she is in the garage or shop, in most cases. A removable tank would also not be necessary since fill up is easier outdoors. On the other hand, the indoor/outdoor heater should have three options incorporated on the base model. The first is the electric start option, as mentioned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
