Analysis Of Theseus And The Minotaur
A hero is universally seen as a selfless individual who puts the needs of other before themselves.
Heroes usually hold the same values; honor, nobility, integrity, and strength. Now what happens when
a person does not hold those heroic values? What if their motivations did not have good intentions?
These are the questions that will be answered using the deconstruction critical lenses. The Greek myth
of Theseus and the Minotaur has evolved into the modern trilogy of Batman which, when
deconstructed, reveals how the selfish motivations of these supposed heroes can be perceived as
heroic under the right circumstances.
In the Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur the young Athenian prince Theseus sets out on a hero
s journey to conquer the minotaur and gain fame. On Theseus s journey he encounters multiple
obstacles, which he overcomes with the help of different companions he meets along the way. The
young Theseus beings his journey emanating the values of a hero which during the Greek era were:
honor, nobility, integrity, and strength but as time passes he slowly begins to lose those values until
finally these qualities are replaced with arrogance. Before Theseus made his trek to slay the minotaur
he was already known as a hero, as he had made the trip to Athens from his mother s home in southern
Greece on foot. The journey on foot itself is not too harsh, what is harsh are the obstacles one faces
along the way. One such obstacle were bandits, the young Theseus had no qualms

Bathroom Accessories For Kids
Bathroom Accessories for Kids
Why do many moms and dads feel that they are punishing their children by sending them into the
bathroom and why do kids resist being sent to bathrooms as much as eating their spinach? Many
parents who have successfully reversed this behavior in their children believe they know the answer
atmosphere.
bathroom accessories for kidsChildren love to play, yet even the most luxurious of bathrooms,
decorated in adult tastes, offer little to a child s imagination and desire for fun. They aren t attracted to
mom and dad s tasteful sense of style. The cold, vacant and non stimulating room feels more like a
time out or punishment to a child instead of a bathroom.

Technology as a Gender Deconstructing Tool in Postmodern Neuromancer As we continue our march
through the technological age, it is easy to see how technologies have affected all parts of our day to
day lives. In Sinister Fruitiness, Stevens writes about how pervasive technologies have changed
human existence in developed countries. Written in the mid 90s, before the real surge of internet and
digital innovation, Stevens was already commenting on how people had begun to align their circadian
rhythms so that their days gave them convenient windows to log in and check their e mails (414).
Socializing has changed as the imbrication of physical and digital realities continues to intensify. Our
body language skills continue to erode in an age of remote interaction, where people are accustomed
to documenting and narrating their lives for on line friends, many of whom we ve never met (414). In
Neuromancer, Gibson portrays a technology rich cyberpunk world whose synthesis of computer
science and biology seems predictive of our current social direction. In Gibson s world, technological
progress has had a significant effect on gender norms, as genderless cyber space and cyborg body
transformations muddle the basic biological distinctions between man and woman. As part of a
postmodern commentary, Gibson uses technology as a gender deconstructing tool, highlighting
present day patriarchal gender

Anthem Characters
Anthem In this paper, I will be talking about the book called Anthem. I will be talking about
characters such as protagonists and antagonists and how some characters impacted the story. I will talk
about the setting, conflicts, and plot of the story. I will also talk about literary devices such as point of
view, symbolism, mood, tone, and theme. In Anthem, there are a couple of characters and some are
only mentioned and some only have a few lines of dialogue. The protagonist of Anthem is Prometheus
or Equality 7 2521 and the antagonists are the Council of Scholars. The council of scholars would be
the antagonists because they told the society how to think and that made Prometheus think that he had
a curse and was committing a lot of sins and to atone for his sins he accepted the job as a street
sweeper with any complaint. Two characters that influenced the plot are Gaea and International 4
8818. Gaea or Liberty 5 3000 influences the plot by Prometheus noticing her and speaking to her
when they aren t supposed thus breaking a rule and later going to the Uncharted forest to find
Prometheus and live with him. International 4 8818 influenced the story by making Prometheus think
of him as his friend thus favoring him over other men which are against the rule and keeping quiet
about the tunnel that Prometheus and he found. These two characters made Prometheus break the rules
and was pushing him to have more a free will than the other men. Characters in this book

Arguments On Human Cloning
Human cloning has been around since 1952 and up to this day, the issues surrounding cloning of
humans remain a hot topic. People are divided on both sides of the controversy and morally the
arguments are broader. The word cloning is mostly used in everyday communication to mean and
represent many different technological procedures. More specifically, cloning is defined as somatic
cell nuclear transfer. Human cloning is a very controversial topic as well as a tremendous
breakthrough in today s technology and science. There have been many experiments on animal
cloning which have been successful, and because of these discoveries, there is a belief that human
cloning would be successful too.
Many individuals argue that each human life is unique and born of a miracle that is beyond laboratory
science. A fundamental argument is that cloning is ethically wrong, and many religious groups have
rejected it saying that cloning is equivalent to playing God . And cloning goes against these certain
religions because they believe only God has created life and its various forms in nature, and humans
should have no right to act like God . And many others argue that human cloning should continue for
many reasons. One of them being that cloned humans embryos would make research into genetics and
genetically related diseases and their preventions or treatments, much easier, as well as cheaper.
Embryo cloning has also been seen as a potential treatment for infertility when in vitro fertilization is
not available. And this can occur when parents are infertile, or when both or one of the parents harbor
a genome coding for certain undesirable traits or beliefs. Cloned embryos tissues could be used for the
replacement of lost or diseased tissues. Some experts believe that embryo should not require any
moral consideration. Reason being that they believe at the stage an embryo is cloned, it is basically
just a bunch of cells that contain DNA, which are considered no different than the millions of skin
cells we shed daily. At that stage, embryonic cells should not be considered equivalent to human
beings because it does not have any self awareness, memory, feelings, thoughts, organs, legs, arms,
etc. However, adult cloning might be

Structuralism
Structuralism was founded by E.B. Titchener but only lasted two decades because of newer
movements in the psychology; however it was still know as the first school of thought. Structuralism
is a mode of thinking and a method of analysis practiced in the 20 centruy social sciences and
humanities; it focuses on recurring patterns of thought and behavior, it seeks to analyse social
relationships in terms of highly abstract relational structures. In other words structuralism is a study
based on ones unconsciousness and observation, the things a person does, the way a person acts in
his/her society, which is acted out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being discovered, Gestalt psychology has made significant contributions to the study of perception,
learning and social psychology. This psychology has several principals, and a therapy. Gestalt
psychology came about in the 19th century with its main focus being that of elementistic nature of the
work of Wundt. It is a school of thought that looks at the human mind and behavior as a whole.
Gestalt psychology was emerged as a response to Wilhelm Wundt s structuralism. It utilizes the brain s
tendency to seek a whole in order to understand its parts. Many psychologists after Wundt and
Titchener set out to prove their theories wrong. Gestalt psychologists believe that there is more to
perception than meets the eye. In other words, our perception goes beyond the sensory elements, the
basic physical data provided to the sense organs (Schultz, 2011). The brain definitely has a tendency
both to perceive groupings as wholes and to fill in gaps in order to understand parts.
Psychoanalysis
Psychoanalysis is a system that is the single most influential theory of psychotherapy in our time. As a
therapy psychoanalysis is based on observation that individuals are often unaware of many factors that
determine their emotions and behavior. It is the first dynamic theory of personality that talks about
displacing, repressing, denying, venting, and regressing; about the unconscious; and about the
significance of dreams. Psychoanalysis overlaps psychology s other

Martin Luther s Indulgences
In the 15th century, Luther looked into the practices of the church, specifically their indulgences, and
was outraged by what he found. Luther strongly believed that the Bible was the religious authority and
that faith was responsible for the results, not humans. One may not rely on the Pope to fix their
salvation, but must rely on God and the Bible. Luther believed that the Pope was overreaching his
authority and by selling indulgences, society, and the political and economic organizations were
challenged.
When we take a look at the background, we understand what it was that Martin Luther was standing
up for. According to our textbook, Johann Tetzel was commissioned to sell indulgences in Germany
by Pope Leo X, which did not immediately affect Martin Luther, however the prince of each province
had the right to allow or deny their sale in his territory (Campbell 306). While these new indulgences

Although there had been multiple reformers in the Catholic Church before Martin Luther, none had
threatened the unity of the church. Luther gained support by finding like minded people who were as
outraged as he was over the corruption of the church. Within two weeks time the Theses had spread
like wildfire, and was eventually heard throughout all of Europe. This shows the unending diligence
and determination that Luther had to get his message out to the world.
The use of indulgences in the 1500s led to Martin Luther s attacks on Catholic Church and, as
Campbell explained, the Protestant Reformation. The attacks on the Church were responsible for
political and economic change and affected the makeup of the clergy. If Luther had not realized all of
the social, political, and economic failing that the church was causing for society, there may not have

Analysis Of The Novel Things Fall Apart
Things Fall Apart novel tries to bring back up cultural, social as well as spiritual basics of traditional
Igbo (Ibo) existence from the year 1850 and 1900. The novel cannot be fixed like truthful societal and
political old times of Ibo society since it is a work of invented story. However, the novel describes
disagreements and apprehensions in Igbo society. It also depicts changes initiated by colonial ruling
and Christianity. The author mentions that European colonialism operates as a powerful as well as
well built mediator of the change within Ibo society. Additionally, Christianity attracted the trivial
associates of the Igbo society. Igbo and other societies were changed considerably due to this variety
of deal with Europeans. A few societies expanded in dimension and authority as marketable centers,
whereas others go through great losses in the course of slave invasion. Hostility also gets higher, and
conflicts tactics tat are distorted due to the use of weapons.
In expressing the accomplishment of Catholic Missionaries Hatch, Roman Catholics appeared to be
most helpful within the endeavor by protecting a paramount place within Igbo society. According to
Chinua Achebe, Educational expansion was the invention of Igbo confined organization but not of

Concrete Angel Analysis
Analysis of Concrete Angel
Many generations view music as a form of entertainment only, so our society tends to overlook the
messages behind the music. Many artists use music to promote their beliefs or inform their listeners
about overlooked issues. Music spreads awareness about misfortunes in the world, and Martina
McBride used her celebrity status to promote her own concerns about child abuse. In 2002, Martina
McBride recorded a song Concrete Angel to spread awareness about child abuse. Her song is intended
for the general population that are bystanders because most people are aware of tragedies such as child
abuse, and most tragedies can be prevented. Through the elements of plot, character, and
foreshadowing, Concrete Angel illustrates the story of a young girl s abuse in order to call the
bystanders to awareness of the societal problem. Throughout the song, the plot consists of multiple
bystanders. The bystander that is mentioned in verse two is, The teacher wonders, but she doesn t
ask/It s hard to see the pain behind the mask (lines 5 6). The teacher suspects the girl has an issue with
abuse, but she ignores her suspicions, assuming the girl is happy because she hides it well. The teacher
s reaction is a common experience for many adults because adults assume the child appears okay. The
following situation that involved a bystander was, Somebody cries in the middle of the night/The
neighbors hear, but they turn out the light (15 16). The lyric states that

Does Rome Have Too Much Power Essay
Winston Churchill once said, History is written by the victors. Humans are so consumed with what is
spoken, written, or otherwise presented of themselves; who presents it however, controls how the
situation is perceived. From ancient Rome to modern America, countries of great power have
perfected the art of telling stories from one side, the winners view. The Roman Empire was possibly
the most successful and influential empire to ever exist. The empire s success was a result of military
conquering extending throughout most of southern Europe and northern Africa. After overcoming the
opponents Romans would inhabit new territories and instill their culture upon the unwilling new
citizens of Rome. Had Rome not won battles such as Lake Regillus ... Show more content on

Liar Liar Pants On Fire Analysis
Liar Liar, Pants on Fire my kindergarten friends used to tease. I liked the phrase, though. Not because
it stopped people from lying, but because I knew that lying wouldn t set my pants on fire, so I could
lie all that I wanted with no repercussions. The way that we perceive lying is pretty funny. Everyone
knows that it s a bad thing to do, and yet, we justify it with the concept of white lies . And maybe it s
this notion that there exists a form of lying that isn t bad that alleviates the stigma on lying for me.
Perhaps that s what makes Huck feel so justified when he lies too.
And this notion that lying is acceptable is terribly toxic. Because of one or two instances in which
there may be a benefit to lying, this acts as a gateway to widespread lying. And that poisons one s self

temptation will surround me in ways in which I don t even realize, and that attempting to fight back is
futile. Bob and I eventually drifted apart, and maybe it s because I left the afterschool we both went to,

When I found him telling someone else that his favorite color was green. When I found out that we

In this essay I will attempt to compare two very contrasting poems,
William Wordsworth s `The Daffodils which was written in pre 1900s and Gillian Clarke s Miracle on
St David s Day , written in the 20th century. Strangely enough Gillian Clarke s Miracle on St David s
day was actually inspired by The Daffodils . In 1804 William Wordsworth wrote a masterpiece , two
years after his experience with the daffodils, while the poem Miracle on St. David s Day was written
by
Gillian Clarke around 1980, one hundred and seventy six years later.

she so lovingly speaks of has been deceased for some time. The analytical approach that was used to

( Clugston, R.W.) Another reason to believe that the grandson is deceased revolves around the
statements Phoenix Jackson made. Example: My little grandson, he sit up there in the house all
wrapped up waiting by himself. Earlier, she had made a statement to the nurse, Every little while his
throat begins to close up again and he not able to swallow. He not get his breath. He not able to help
himself so the time come around and I go on another trip for the soothing medicine. (Clugston, R.W.)
No one would leave a child unattended in this condition. If Phoenix actually left the child at home
alone, this is definitely criteria that could be utilized to challenge her mental acumen. The Reader
Response Approach to Welty s The Worn Path assisted in the understanding of Phoenix Jackson s
mentality and the language that was used showed her unusual responses to people and things around
her. The analytical approach which was applied to this story played a distinct role in my interpretation
process by providing me with the necessary tools that I needed to closely look at the story and the
hidden meaning that it possessed. Phoenix also brought back memories of my deceased great
grandmother who suffered from a severe form of dementia. The emotion that I felt from the
comparison involved a desire to escape the past association with my great grandmother s illness and

Should members of Congress be subject to term limits? What are the main benefits or disadvantages

members of the House of Representatives can

serve two terms. These two terms equal six years. In a
previous post, I discussed how the amendments should not be allowed to be changed with ease and the
two term rule falls under the 22Nd amendment. If this amendment changed, it would allow a president

they want the country ran and sometimes those ideas are not always the best. With the two term rule, a

in America, mothers are denied an easy balance between work, money, and time for their children. The
current policies regarding maternity leave are extremely outdated and need to be reformed to
accommodate mothers in this day and age. If I could create a law in America, it would be a law

According to the National Partnership, 76% of respondents of a survey favored updating the Family
Medical Leave Act. Also, 84% of people under 30 favored updating the act, and 72% of people over
65 favor the updating of the act. Some believe that paid leave will be extremely bad timing, will be
difficult to fund, and that the government should focus on the fiscal cliff instead. However, in the long
run having paid maternity leave will result in saving money.
There is a direct relationship between the amount of leave one is granted, and breastfeeding rates. In a
2010 study it said the US could prevent 900 deaths of infants and save 13 billion dollars per year if
90% of women breastfeed exclusively for the first six months of their child s life. As of 2010, only
43% of babies in America are breastfed for six months. Women are not able to breastfeed exclusively
due to the high demands of work. Some believe that updating the Family Medical Leave Act will
create debt but the findings of this study say it can actually help the economy and save lives.
According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, mothers who return to work soon after the
birth of a child are more likely to become depressed and are less healthy than mothers who do not, and
one third of mothers end up in debt after childbirth due to having unpaid maternity leave. When a
woman has access to paid leave after birth they are more

The Low Water Levels in Lake Bridgeport
Lake Bridgeport was built in 1930 for flood control, water storage and recreation. Tarrant County
owns the land and water that makes the lake. There is a spillway that takes water through the Trinity
River to Eagle Mountain Lake and Lake Worth. This year has been a rough year for Lake Bridgeport
with three digit temperatures and draining water to the other lakes. Since one of the purposes to build
Lake Bridgeport was for storage, The Tarrant County water district approved to let out 20,000 acre
feet of water from Lake Bridgeport to prevent the other lakes to be low. But 2013 is anything but a
normal year. Today, what once was a scenic lake is covered in chest high weeds. Boaters and
fisherman enjoy going to Lake Bridgeport during the summer. But in the summer of 2013 the boat
ramps were unusable so the number of residents going to the lake dropped. There are dead fish
floating to the shoreline as well as many other wildlife animals. The lake tested positive for Zebra
Mussel larva, which is shell like creatures that are very sharp and stick to boats, anchors and docks.
The Mussels are very dangerous for the lake environment, but they also eat bacteria so they could help
the lake water clear up. If no water is drained out of Lake Bridgeport then the residents of Eagle
Mountain Lake and Lake Worth could possibly run out of drinking water.
Problem: The Lake is the place to be on a hot summer day, but how is it supposed to be any fun when
the lake is drying up each day.

The Bank of New York and it s History Essay
The Bank of New York and it s History On February 23, 1784, a small advertisement appeared in The
New York Packet, one of the many New York newspapers of that era. This advertisement announced
that prominent New York citizens had established a bank. The bank, established by the prominent,
would not officially open for business until June 9, 1784. That bank would come to be known as the
bank of New York. Alexander Hamilton, a well known New York attorney, was asked to write the
constitution of the new bank. He complied and therefore Alexander Hamilton was credited with the

In 1969, through the establishment of a bank holding company, the Bank expanded beyond New York
City, establishing a suburban branch network that remains today.
Global expansion began with an office in London in 1966, but a major breakthrough occurred with the
acquisition of The Irving Bank Corporation in 1988. This acquisition created the tenth largest bank at
that time and set the stage for what the Bank of New York is today. The acquisitions of National
Community Banks in New Jersey and The Putnam Trust Company in Connecticut in the 1990 s
continued the expansion of the Bank of New York s branch network. The Bank of New York has had a
series of business acquisitions in securities servicing that enabled them to become a recognized leader

My Personal Leadership Assessments
Upon completion the three leadership assessments, I was surprised to notice several data points which
revealed particular aspects about my leadership style that I had not previously perceived myself to be.
One of these instances was my low balanced processing scores during the Authentic Leadership Self
Questionnaire, which highlighted that I tend to glance over the opinions of others in lieu of my own.
These findings accurately reflect my leadership skills as I tend overestimate my own ways of thinking
and can sometimes ignore others who may provide me with a broader perspective. I plan to apply
these results to grow professionally by taking actions such as actively listening to constructive
feedback and recognizing the value of the opinions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One step I plan to take is to recognize that leadership is both an art and a science as it requires more
than simply making the right choice, but also developing a personal leadership style. This is so as the
results revealed that I tended to render decisions based on logic, which may not be the case as not all
business decisions will be black and white choices. Another action I plan to consider is to have a
broader understanding of my professional abilities and take them into consideration at a reasonable
degree. While the results highlighted several of my leadership strengths such as being open to others
and having a positive attitude, I must not take them for granted and assume that I can confront any
challenge despite my prior successes. This is so as my strengths in one field might not compensate for
another as I must strive towards becoming a complete professional rather than settling for my existing
skillset. In conclusion, these assessments have provided myself with a broader understanding of my
leadership acumen and I plan to apply their findings towards taking on future career

Priestley convey his beliefs through the Inspector and Birling family? Priestley conveys his beliefs
through the Inspector and the Birling family in various ways. Priestly believed in ?social conscience?
that we are all responsible for each other. Priestly never believed in the class system as he thought it
was very unjust and divided everyone, especially poorer people, in a poorer way. Priestly?s view is
shown through the Inspector in a rather convincing way which makes the audience think like an

Birling casually throws in ?just? when referring to his knighthood which shows that it is not a big
thing for a man like him to get. Birling is worried when the inspector leaves in case anybody finds out
what happened and is also worried about the knighthood. Again, this shows us he is worried about his
?social status? because he believes that life begins and ends with it ? believes his future is going to be
a comfortable world. Birling also is very uncaring and unsympathetic towards Eva. ?she?d had a lot to
say far too much so she had to go? This could indicate that Birling was sexist and makes us consider
whether he would do the same to a male worker. It also reveals Birling?s self centeredness and how
cold hearted he is. He does not care about the social classes below him and believes they have no right
to ask for anything. If this was Birling?s ?political world? he would try to impress the community to
receive the knighthood but he cant give the people who put him in that position a few shillings more.
He also does not seem to care that Eva Smith has lost her life, we learn this through the tone of his
voice and dismissive language when he speaks. He shows no interest or any sympathy. On numerous

There are four types of leadership that are of major focus in this theory and they are:
1. Supportive Leadership: The focus here is mainly on relationships. Any or all decisions are taken in
the best interests of the team members and this kind of approach is best in conditions where tasks are
repetitive or stressful. These approaches will in turn increase the follower s self esteem thereby
making the job more interesting (Dessler, G. 2016).
2. Directive Leadership: This approach best suits the conditions where tasks or projects are
unstructured. These approaches also work good when tasks are complex and team members are
inexperienced. Further, in this approach a clear communication of goals and expectations are done.
Appropriate guidance is also given all the way through to help the subordinates to reach their goal
(Dessler, G. 2016).
3. Participative Leadership: This approach is best suited when the leaders believe in group discussion
and focus on mutual participation. This approach is also best when followers in the team or in a group
are expert and their advice is both needed and they expect to be able to give it (Dessler, G.

Purpose: The purpose of this experiment is to examine the reactivities of various alkyl halides under
both SN2 and SN1 reaction conditions. The alkyl halides will be examined based on the substrate
types and solvent the reaction takes place in.
Procedure: For the first part of this experiment, six dry test tubes were obtained and labeled
accordingly to test the following halides: 2 chlorobutane, 2 bromobutane, 1 chlorobutane, 1
bromobutane, 2 chloro 2 methylpropane, and bromobenzene. To each of the six test tubes 2ml of 15%
sodium iodide in acetone was added. 4 drops of the appropriate halide was added to the test tube
labeled for that specific halide. After adding the halide, the test tube was then shaken to mix
thoroughly. If a precipitate formed the time it took was recorded. Since none of the solutions formed a
precipitate at room temperature after five minutes, the test tubes were placed inside of a hot bath at
about 50°C. After one minute, the test tubes were taken out of the hot bath and allowed to cool. If any
test tubes formed a precipitate, the time it took was recorded on a table. For the second part of the
experiment, again six dry test tubes were obtained and labeled accordingly to test the following
halides: 2 chlorobutane, 2 bromobutane, 1 chlorobutane, 1 bromobutane, 2 chloro 2 methylpropane,

International Marketing For Potential Foreign Market Essay
LO1: Understanding the concept of international marketing for potential foreign market:

Subject: Internationalization of Hilfiger
Date:
(AC 1.1) Why Hilfiger Have to develop international marketing
International marketing is a most renowned concept in today s globalized world. It is the application
of marketing principles in more than one country. Hilfiger should develop international marketing for
the following reasons:
New revenue potential: New market share will indeed generate more profit. If we are able to
successfully introduce our product in other countries then it will help us to grab more revenue
potential. Since clothing is one of the basic needs as well as luxury so international marketing is not be
too risky for us. (Anon, 1978)
Learning a new culture: International marketing is crucial in learning a new culture. If our company
go for international marketing then the company will experience and learn the culture of that country
which may cost us. Because we may produce some products which may fail but this will help us in
long run to go for another market of same nature in a very cost effective way. The experience of our
company in dealing with a new culture will increase. (Anon, 1978)
Diversifying company Markets:

Managed Care System
The U.S has many payer systems which many believe it to be its downfall among other countries. This
may be because many view it more as an economic business and not an overall wellness plan. The
United States main public program of funding is Medicare, which once followed a standard form of
payment. It is now envisioned as a futuristic model that encompasses the payments of providers.
Medicare is a national social insurance program that is run by the government since 1966. Also unlike
Great Britain system, the program provides health care to Americans over 65 years of age for those
who have paid their work dues in the system. Medicare has also extended its reach to those Americans
who may be veterans or disabled. Another huge form of payment to providers is through Managed
care which can be beneficial to physicians in the fee for service and capitation aspect. While this form
of payment is similar to Great Britain s programs, their execution of it remains vastly different.
Managed Care is a type of healthcare system with health care plans that has restrictions on its
selection of facilities and health care providers at a reduced cost for the patient. Rather than come to a
conclusion about better ways to negotiate with payers, U.S providers continue to rage war against ...

Impacts of Climate Change on Australia Alps’ Ski Industry
The changing nature of snow cover as a result of alpine climate change is a modern phenomenon that
climate scientists are beginning to understand. Declining snow depth and duration have serious
implications for Australia s ski industry, in particular the longevity of the industry. This essay
discusses the impacts of alpine climate change on snow cover, adaption strategies to sustain the
industry s economy as well as the unsustainable nature of snowmaking as a long term solution.
Limitations on water and energy resource make snowmaking problematic as a substitute for natural
snow. The essay highlights the unsustainability of snowmaking as a short term solution, and raises
concerns of the longevity of the ski industry.
Currently, the Australian ski industry comprises of ten operational ski resorts (Figure 1) with 0.15% of
the continent (Green and Pickering 2009, p. 271) regularly receiving snow due to the low attitude of
mountains. Consequently, decline in snow cover on top of limited snow availability pose significant
difficulties to the longevity of the ski industry.
Effects of Climate Change Impact on ski industry Possible solutions

Speech On Introverts
Izabela Wojtkielewicz
Fighting against the stereotypes it is not a shame to be an introvert!
Susan Cain is a writer, a lecturer and a lawyer and also an introvert. The person who want to make life
of introverted people easier by changing the way of thinking about them. She took a speech at the
February 2012 TED Conference because she want to change the world into more friendly for all the
introverts also because she is one of them.
At the beginning of her speech she shows the audience how could an introverted child feel by telling
her story from her childhood. The story took place at the summer camp where all the children were
forced to be more social and their different needs (for example of introverts) were not taken into
account. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our world needs a balance between introverts and extraverts. Everyone should have the best
conditions to learn, to work and to improve skills, creativity and productivity. Susan Cain appeals for
giving more freedom of thinking for all the children, for more privacy for all the people, for giving
yourself the time to be only with yourself and for showing what you have inside and what can be
shared with the world. Stop the madness of constant group work, (...) go to the wilderness. Be like
Buddha. And take a good look what you have inside you. Recognise who you are and what are you

Child Welfare Issues
I would rank these issues in order of importance starting with Child Welfare Concerns, Lack of
Quality Child Care, Lack of Parent Paid Leave, and Lack of Developmental Screening. Ultimately, I
believe, the welfare of a child should be put first if he or she is in danger of cracks in their
development. Usually, this wouldn t be the case if all parents were perfect and not misusing
substances or have any type of mental/medical issue. Another factor would be if their relatives are
unstable themselves, then it lead no other choice than to place them in a home they don t know
anything about. Since our nation has that problem, that is when a child is at risk for their development
if their parents arent stable and needed to be taken from the home and thrown in a foster home so
young, that it can indeed cause developmental delays. According to the Infant Mental Health Journal,
Previous research has suggested that infants in the child welfare system have many unmet
developmental and psychological needs, which make them difficult to care for, possibly exacerbating
their developmental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As follows, Child welfare agencies have worked with treatment agencies and the courts to create new
practices and policies that take a collaborative approach toward achieving better outcomes for these
children and families (Young Collins). Working more with other agencies can create a stronger policy
and aide prevention. As well as help mothers/fathers get on their feet before coming together with
their child again. Only if follow ups are mandatory to help track progress and for the good of the child.
Another way to solve this concern is, when skilled professionals come to the home to nurture
relationships between infant and caregiver (Berger 221). All in all, to solve this concern can lead to
children placed in the system to thrive when given the right

Comparing Mending Wall And Tear Down This Wall
A world without walls is the only sustainable world... Bill Clinton s statement about walls relates to
both Frost s Mending Wall and Reagan s Tear down This Wall . In each of these texts, nobody wants
the wall up because it causes both physical and emotional unstableness for families and friends. In
Reagan s speech it shows that they can t get supplies they need, they are cut off from the rest of the
world, and kept away from family. In Frost s text it shows that people remain lonely because they can
t see friends, and they can t form new friendships because the wall prevents new friendships from
happening, also only the neighbor wants the wall so it causes emotional conflict. So as anyone can
tell, the walls only cause problems both physically and emotionally for everyone.
The theme of separation is present in both texts. While Frost s wall separates neighbors, Reagan s wall
separates different things. In Reagan s text, Tear Down This Wall , his wall separates families. Not
only does this wall separate families, but it separates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Frost s poem, it keeps friends away from each other and prevents new friendships from being
started. The narrator has no friends because the wall separates and makes it to where he can t have
friends. He doesn t want the wall there, but the neighbor does, so it s really just a big emotional
conflict between the two. It also has a lot of physical labor put into it to keep the wall up. On the other
hand, Reagan is shooting people as they try to climb over the wall. This wall keeps them cut off from
the rest of the world, and unable to gain supplies. The whole purpose of this wall is to separate East
Berlin from West Berlin, because of the Cold War. Not only does this wall separate city and country,
but it also separated families from being together. Which is a very hard, emotional

  • 2. Analysis Of Theseus And The Minotaur A hero is universally seen as a selfless individual who puts the needs of other before themselves. Heroes usually hold the same values; honor, nobility, integrity, and strength. Now what happens when a person does not hold those heroic values? What if their motivations did not have good intentions? These are the questions that will be answered using the deconstruction critical lenses. The Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur has evolved into the modern trilogy of Batman which, when deconstructed, reveals how the selfish motivations of these supposed heroes can be perceived as heroic under the right circumstances. In the Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur the young Athenian prince Theseus sets out on a hero s journey to conquer the minotaur and gain fame. On Theseus s journey he encounters multiple obstacles, which he overcomes with the help of different companions he meets along the way. The young Theseus beings his journey emanating the values of a hero which during the Greek era were: honor, nobility, integrity, and strength but as time passes he slowly begins to lose those values until finally these qualities are replaced with arrogance. Before Theseus made his trek to slay the minotaur he was already known as a hero, as he had made the trip to Athens from his mother s home in southern Greece on foot. The journey on foot itself is not too harsh, what is harsh are the obstacles one faces along the way. One such obstacle were bandits, the young Theseus had no qualms ... Sinister Fruitiness Essay Peter Kuzmin Michael Johnstone/ Christine Choi ENG237H1 November 5, 2014 Technology as a Gender Deconstructing Tool in Postmodern Neuromancer As we continue our march through the technological age, it is easy to see how technologies have affected all parts of our day to day lives. In Sinister Fruitiness, Stevens writes about how pervasive technologies have changed human existence in developed countries. Written in the mid 90s, before the real surge of internet and digital innovation, Stevens was already commenting on how people had begun to align their circadian rhythms so that their days gave them convenient windows to log in and check their e mails (414). Socializing has changed as the imbrication of physical and digital realities continues to intensify. Our body language skills continue to erode in an age of remote interaction, where people are accustomed to documenting and narrating their lives for on line friends, many of whom we ve never met (414). In Neuromancer, Gibson portrays a technology rich cyberpunk world whose synthesis of computer science and biology seems predictive of our current social direction. In Gibson s world, technological progress has had a significant effect on gender norms, as genderless cyber space and cyborg body transformations muddle the basic biological distinctions between man and woman. As part of a postmodern commentary, Gibson uses technology as a gender deconstructing tool, highlighting present day patriarchal gender ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I will be talking about characters such as protagonists and antagonists and how some characters impacted the story. I will talk about the setting, conflicts, and plot of the story. I will also talk about literary devices such as point of view, symbolism, mood, tone, and theme. In Anthem, there are a couple of characters and some are only mentioned and some only have a few lines of dialogue. The protagonist of Anthem is Prometheus or Equality 7 2521 and the antagonists are the Council of Scholars. The council of scholars would be the antagonists because they told the society how to think and that made Prometheus think that he had a curse and was committing a lot of sins and to atone for his sins he accepted the job as a street sweeper with any complaint. Two characters that influenced the plot are Gaea and International 4 8818. Gaea or Liberty 5 3000 influences the plot by Prometheus noticing her and speaking to her when they aren t supposed thus breaking a rule and later going to the Uncharted forest to find Prometheus and live with him. International 4 8818 influenced the story by making Prometheus think of him as his friend thus favoring him over other men which are against the rule and keeping quiet about the tunnel that Prometheus and he found. People are divided on both sides of the controversy and morally the arguments are broader. The word cloning is mostly used in everyday communication to mean and represent many different technological procedures. More specifically, cloning is defined as somatic cell nuclear transfer. Human cloning is a very controversial topic as well as a tremendous breakthrough in today s technology and science. There have been many experiments on animal cloning which have been successful, and because of these discoveries, there is a belief that human cloning would be successful too. Many individuals argue that each human life is unique and born of a miracle that is beyond laboratory science. A fundamental argument is that cloning is ethically wrong, and many religious groups have rejected it saying that cloning is equivalent to playing God . And cloning goes against these certain religions because they believe only God has created life and its various forms in nature, and humans should have no right to act like God . And many others argue that human cloning should continue for many reasons. One of them being that cloned humans embryos would make research into genetics and genetically related diseases and their preventions or treatments, much easier, as well as cheaper. Embryo cloning has also been seen as a potential treatment for infertility when in vitro fertilization is not available. And this can occur when parents are infertile, or when both or one of the parents harbor a genome coding for certain undesirable traits or beliefs. Cloned embryos tissues could be used for the replacement of lost or diseased tissues. Some experts believe that embryo should not require any moral consideration. Reason being that they believe at the stage an embryo is cloned, it is basically just a bunch of cells that contain DNA, which are considered no different than the millions of skin cells we shed daily. At that stage, embryonic cells should not be considered equivalent to human beings because it does not have any self awareness, memory, feelings, thoughts, organs, legs, arms, etc. However, adult cloning might be ... Luther strongly believed that the Bible was the religious authority and that faith was responsible for the results, not humans. One may not rely on the Pope to fix their salvation, but must rely on God and the Bible. Luther believed that the Pope was overreaching his authority and by selling indulgences, society, and the political and economic organizations were challenged. When we take a look at the background, we understand what it was that Martin Luther was standing up for. According to our textbook, Johann Tetzel was commissioned to sell indulgences in Germany by Pope Leo X, which did not immediately affect Martin Luther, however the prince of each province had the right to allow or deny their sale in his territory (Campbell 306). My Personal Leadership Assessments Upon completion the three leadership assessments, I was surprised to notice several data points which revealed particular aspects about my leadership style that I had not previously perceived myself to be. One of these instances was my low balanced processing scores during the Authentic Leadership Self Questionnaire, which highlighted that I tend to glance over the opinions of others in lieu of my own. These findings accurately reflect my leadership skills as I tend overestimate my own ways of thinking and can sometimes ignore others who may provide me with a broader perspective. This is so as the results revealed that I tended to render decisions based on logic, which may not be the case as not all business decisions will be black and white choices. Another action I plan to consider is to have a broader understanding of my professional abilities and take them into consideration at a reasonable degree. While the results highlighted several of my leadership strengths such as being open to others and having a positive attitude, I must not take them for granted and assume that I can confront any challenge despite my prior successes. This is so as my strengths in one field might not compensate for another as I must strive towards becoming a complete professional rather than settling for my existing skillset. In conclusion, these assessments have provided myself with a broader understanding of my leadership acumen and I plan to apply their findings towards taking on future career ...
