Susan B. Anthony Essay
Susan B. Anthony Susan Brownell Anthony was a magnificent women who devoted most of her life to
gain the right for women to vote. She traveled the United States by stage coach, wagon, and train
giving many speeches, up to 75 to 100 a year, for 45 years. She went as far as writing a newspaper, the
Revolution, and casting a ballot, despite it being illegal. Susan B. Anthony was born on February 15,
1820, in Adams, Massachusetts. She was the second of eight children in her family. In the early 1800 s
girls were not allowed an education. Susan s father, Daniel, believed in equal treatment for boys and
girls and allowed her to receive her education from a private boarding school in Philadelphia. At the
age of seven her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the Civil War, in 1863, Susan founded the Women s Loyal League, which fought for the
freeing of slaves.
Susan s work for women s rights began when she met a mother of young children by the name of
Elizabeth Cady Stanton in 1851. The two women worked on reforming New York state laws
discriminating women. Susan organized state campaigns for legal reforms and delivered speeches
written by Stanton.
Elizabeth and Susan organized the National Women Suffrage Association and worked hard for a
constitutional amendment giving women the right to vote. Even though the 15th amendment allowed
newly freed slaves to vote, women of any race still could not vote. For ten years, Susan and Elizabeth
wrote their newspaper, the Revolution, focusing on the injustices suffered by women. In the 1872
presidential election, Susan decided to register and cast a ballot to protest for women s rights. She was
arrested, convicted, and refused to pay the one hundred dollar fine. Susan Anthony went to Europe in
1883, to meet other women s rights activists. Later, in 1888, she helped form the International
American Council of Women, which represented 48 countries.
At the age of eighty, Susan B. Anthony resigned as president of the National American Women
Suffrage Association, but continued to be a speaker at the conventions until she died in Rochester,
New York, on March 13, 1906.

Diapers Lab Report
Purpose:
The purpose of this experiment was to figure out which brand of diapers has the highest absorbency,
out of Huggies, Pamper and the no name brand.
Hypothesis:
I believe that the Huggies diaper will be the best overall. I believe this because; it is the most
expensive, most inflated, and is the densest. The structure also seemed to have the ability to hold more
fluid compared to the others, this made it very reliable.
Materials:
~ Three (or more if you wish) brands of diapers *We used Huggies, Pampers, and the no name brand.
~ Writing utensils
~ Water *We used approximately 1L
~ Food colouring (optional) *We used different colours for each trail.
~ Timer
~ Six ≥ Beaker *We used three small and three big ones.
Procedure:

HUGGIES
~ Huggies was damp in the first interval.
~ During first interval, absorbed pretty the fastest out of the tree brand.
~ Huggies bottom was the driest out of the three.
~ Collected a little at the side.
~ Huggies became heavy; but kept the water in even after we squeezed it.
NO NAME
~ First interval, absorbed surprisingly fast.
~ 2nd driest from the bottoms.
~ Didn t collect as much at the side compared to the other two.
~ When we squeezed it, it held up pretty well. Conclusion:
The purpose of the experiment was to determine which brand of diapers has the highest absorbency,
out of Huggies, Pamper and the No Name brand. Our experiment was simple. It consisted of three
different trials; in each, we changed a variable. In the first trail, we poured the 60mL through three
interval, we let the 20mL sit for two minutes, between the sections. During the second trial, we poured
the whole 60mL at one. Finally, in the last trial we poured three segments of 80mL, waiting about 30
second to 70 second in between. I found it interest that how big of an impact the little change made.
The speed of absorbency was most interesting to me. For

Family Dynamics In The Savage Family

Family Dynamic The dynamics of a family should be how the members of the family get along,
meaning how they relate to one another interpersonally. Try trust, loyalty, consideration, acceptance,
companionship, dedication, understanding, are a few things I can think of that are good characteristics
to a good family. The most important however is communication within the family. Wendy and Jon
Savage are brother and sister in the movie savages. Wendy lives in New York City, and John lives in
Buffalo where Wendy an aspiring playwright, and John is a professor and author of books about the
theater. In the movie Wendy and John both have a hard time expressing their thoughts resulting in a
negative light on their relationship. Many families go through problems, close themselves out and won
t communicate resulting distance within the family.

It helps create trust thus making the family bond stronger. Misunderstandings tend to occur when there
is no communication leading to greater conflict in the future. The Savage family seem to never
communicate within the family leading to multiple conclusion. Wendy mentions Maybe Dad didn t
abandon us. Maybe he just forgot who we were . Wendy is optimistic to where it is borderline
unrealistic whereas john has a more realistic point of outlook to situations. We re not in therapy now,
we re in real life , John states. This not only affects their childhood but it has a huge impact in their
adulthood. Having an unstable family background often leads to having trust issues resulting in zero
communication. Communication involves the ability to pay attention to what others are thinking and
feeling. It is an important part of a stable household because communication is not just talking, but
listening to what others have to

British Petroleum Industry Essay
World oil demand is increasing as emerging economies need more energy to increase their living
standards. Estimates, shown below, are that by 2030, China and India as emerging markets will import
over 70% to 90% of their fossil fuel needs (1) . Coupled to a continued high and growing demand for
oil, makes this a robust market for the next 30 years.
Currently, the conventional approach is to aggressively explore and develop new fields. This has led to
a growth in drilling deeper wells and looking to off shore sites for new production of light crude.
However, as recent events in the Gulf of Mexico demonstrate with the British Petroleum incident and
the resulting clean up costs and loss of credibility, this approach has risks. It ... Show more content on

With supercritical water extraction and treatment, the heavy crude is upgraded to a medium to light
crude that is higher value and can be further refined at more facilities worldwide. In addition, it can be
transported and stored using conventional crude infrastructure already in place and leverage that
capital and operating investment.
Using supercritical brine , such as the water found with typical oil reservoirs or seawater (14) is the
key difference and what makes this unique. Based on the cited experimental work, heavy crude can be
hydrocracked more efficiently to make a medium to lighter crude in a relatively simple process. It has
been demonstrated that in one step, sulfur is converted to H2S for easy separation, metals can be
removed (25) and the heavy organic molecules are hydrocracked to shorter chain compounds with less
coking than obtained with conventional coking and hydrocracking methods.
There are various opportunities for deploying Supercritical Brine Extraction and Upgrading (SCBEU
):
Use SCBEU units at bitumen and oil sand sites to extract and upgrade at the site. The SCBEU unit
would replace much of the current oil sand solvent extraction washing process and does not require
solvent recovery or disposal (4,5,9,10,11,12,25,28). [This case will be developed in this proposal
using the Arroyo Grande Bitumen site near Edna, CA. (26,27,28)]
Many heavy oil sites use

Plra Court System
At one point the United States Court System paid no attention to inmate complaints and concerns.
However, that changed when the Supreme Court took an interest in prisoner litigations. Lawmakers
finally began to see inmates as American citizens who still were afforded certain liberties according to
the United States Constitution. Once perspectives began to change about the prisoners and their rights,
petitions addressing the violations of inmate s civil liberties started to flood into the courts. The
American court system is aware that prisoners do have some rights, but they would naturally be fewer
than free citizens (Carlson Garrett, 2008). The limitation of rights is mandatory to sustain security in
prisons or jails. The federal government stepped in and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first is that the inmate must exhaust all supervisory fulfilments in their local facility before the
case is filed in federal court. Next, the petitioner is required to pay applicable fees for filing as well as
the court cost, through their assets or a correctional trust fund. Thirdly an inmate is forbidden from
filing in forma pauperis as mentioned in the second requirement if they had a previous suit dissolved
for being frivolous or vengeful (Carlson Garrett, 2008). The intention of the legislation was an attempt
to correct a problem that was endangering the legitimacy of the process. However, the PLRA and it
states catalogs have considerably decreased judicial oversight of prisons, jails, and juvenile facilities,
which has now resulted in the terrible abuses going unmonitored. The PLRA is responsible for a sixty
percent decline in the number of federal cases filed between 1995 and 2006. The legislation was not
supposed to prevent the raising of legitimate complaints. If the bill were doing what its creators
intended, there would be a decline in filings and an increase in plaintiffs success. The PLRA has
dismissed fewer cases than it has settled (Schlanger Shay,

The Importance Of A Good Life
As a young adult, it is really difficult to define what a good life is. A Good life it s an expression that
is interpreted differently by every individual. However, my humanities class helped me clarify my
thoughts about how the term good life could be defined. A good life is living with ambition and
creating new experiences with the ones you love the most. For me, a good life not only consist of me
reaching my goals but it also lies on helping the people around me to reach their goals. Having the
right values and priorities complement a gratifying life. During this journey, I have learned that
analyzing several situations can lead to a great way of associating ideas and understanding certain
events that take place in my life. Medicine is a very rigorous field of study, therefore I must hold the
concept of a good life in order to achieve my goals and keep my priorities in the right order.
Humanities has been a great base for me to develop the right mindset to pursue my career. For
instance, the modules: The True Purpose of a Liberal Education, Morality and Ethics, Happiness,
Nature, and Life Affirmation, were the ones that made the most significant impact on my perspective
in life. In today s society, people are becoming accustomed to following the popular beliefs instead of
thinking in depth and forming their own opinions. In some cases, it is evident that some individuals
deviate away from the obvious which leads them to become unconsciously ignorant. In

Music Programs Throughout The United States
Music programs throughout the United States are making quite the hurrah, and yet seem to never be
heard by the classmates and staff that walk the same halls as them. The lack of appreciation of the
music and arts programs throughout America is astonishing, and heartbreaking to many of the
students, parents, and staff that are involved with them. There are more than a few causes that can be
held responsible, however the main three are a lack of funding, lack of support from administration
and staff, and the lack of equal support amongst students involved in different activities, such as
sports, clubs, and music programs, all of which have led to a decrease in student participation in
music. However, there may be a solution in sight, with the help of some creative thinking on the part
of the administration, the support of the staff members, and the acknowledgment of the student body.
There are many benefits to music. It s a way for students to express themselves, create bonds, learn
life skills, and improve their minds. Studies have shown that music can benefit a student academically,
as well as mentally. Not only that, but if introduced in earlier childhood, music can actually help a
child with their linguistic development. As stated by Laura Lewis Brown in her article The Benefits of
Music Education, While children come into the world ready to decode sounds and words, music
education helps enhance those natural abilities. (1). I have been in band since I was in the

The Strengths Of Refugees
Refugees are a vulnerable group who has given up everything in a pursuit of a better life. Cultures
from across the world differ in extreme ways. However, with that said no one culture or ideas is the
better than the other. Each culture brings different strengths and weaknesses and the best to utilize
those strengths is to put them together with the strengths of the others. Cultural competency is
something that has to be continually worked on and studied. Cultural differences can make working
together very difficult, but with patience, dedication, empathy, and collaboration it can be done.
However, without those things the results can be devastating.
Primary Issues Within this Family System
The Lee family fled from their home in Laos, leaving everything they knew, to get away from a
communist country and find freedom. They arrive to America to discover that it is not that much
different from where they came from and where they have been running from. They are confused and
enraged when they are stripped of their power in a country to which they have fled because of its
reputation for freedom (Fadiman, 1997, pg. 84). These power struggles bring up feelings and
memories of historical trauma that they have to continue to work through and be reminded of. The
Hmong have always been perceived as different, and sometimes people do not like difference because
it is scary. To try to change this difference they have continually been persecuted to assimilate to that

Curling History
Since curling was invented in the late medieval times, there is no specific inventor. The first written
evidence appeared in Latin, by John McQuhin when he recorded a challenge about throwing stones
across the ice between John Sclater, a monk at Paisley Abbey, Renfrewshire, and Gavin Hamilton, a
representative in February of 1541. The report indicated that Sclater threw a stone along the ice three
times before he agreed to a contest. This event took place in Scotland which is where curling first
originated. Therefore, this is considered to be how curling began and, the people involved. The
purpose of the game is to score points by getting your stones closer to the center of the house before
the other team. The path of the stone is influenced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each player delivers two stones, in consecutive order at each end, while alternating with an opponent.
Teams declare its delivery rotation, and the skip and vice skip positions, prior to the start of a game
and maintain that rotation and those positions throughout the game. If a player is missing at the start of
a game, the team may either start the game with three players or use a qualified alternate. A team may
not play with fewer than three players. In competitions where alternates are allowed, only one
alternate can be registered and used in that competition. Each team has a total of eight stones and play
up to eight ends, when you get into the higher tournaments you play ten ends. Ends are completed
when all eight rocks from each team have been played. If the teams are tied at the end of the game,
they keep playing to however many ends it takes to break the tie. Delivering is where the skip
determines how much power they need, how much to rotate the stone, and the direction to throw. This
process requires the skip to slide the stone down the sheet. Before the delivery, the surface of the stone
and the path across must be wiped clean. Any dirt can slow and alter the shot. The thrower shoots the
rock from the hack. The thrower s shoes that don t have a slider on it is placed in the hack. For
example, if you re a right hand curler your right foot is placed against the left side of the hack. When
in the hack the thrower lines the body up with their shoulders square to the skip s broom at the other
end of the sheet. Places the stone in front of the hack, and rises slowly pulling the stone back towards
the hack. Then push off the hack into a lunge position, moving the slider foot in front and the other
shoe behind. To help balance you have the rock in your good hand and, the free hand you have your
broom. The stone is released by a clockwise or counter clockwise twist from the handle, starting at
two or ten o clock and releasing

The Everglades And Global Warming
The Everglades and Global warming
Richard Hamilton
BSC2010
Broward College The Everglades and Global warming
Introduction
The Everglades mainly found in the United States of America (USA) is a 2 million acre of wetland
ecosystem that stretches from the Central of Florida near to Orlando to the Bay of Florida in the south.
During rainy seasons, Lake Okeechobee experience upsurge in water volumes causing it to discharge
the waters into the river of grass that characterize with shallow slow moving water carrying grass
marshes. The river flows south and passing through different habitats namely wet prairie, cypress
swamps, mangroves, Everglades National Park and lastly into the Florida Bay. The current size of the
Everglades is smaller than it was originally. The decrease in size has majorly been due to human
activities that include diversions of the water for agriculture and flood control as well as urban
development. The Everglades borders the cities of Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. The region is tourist
attraction for birders, boaters, and anglers among others. The Everglades ecosystem supports
agricultural activities besides supplying clean drinking water to the southern Florida residents. Just
like other natural ecosystems like lakes and forests, the Everglades is facing dangers of global
warming. The increasing global temperatures are causing a significant change and destruction of its
iconic natural appearance. Besides the direct effects, global warming is

Analysis Of Legally Blonde
In the acclaimed 2001 film, Legally Blonde, the main character, Elle Woods, is a fantastic feminine
icon for females. The film represents the struggle of women to prove their ability. Remarkably, Elle
never succumbs to those who so strongly see her as being stupid. While others put down her abilities
and intelligence, Elle hardly ever doubts herself. She moves through the world with pure confidence.
As Callahan, a law professor at Harvard who later selects Elle Woods for his internship quips, it s as if
she just woke up one day and said, I m going to law school. She decides on a goal and knows she can
attain it, even if others only respond with incredulity or mockery. Legally Blonde has many positive
depictions of women and femininity for a 2001 film.
Elle doesn t fit the misogynist prospect of submissive femininity. She is loud, emotional, and
flamboyant. When she enters a room with the clacking of her bright pink heels, Chihuahua in arm,
beaming and effusive, you cannot ignore her. Elle s bubbliness and enthusiasm is often disdained,
especially in the legal world, but she continues to express her true self. She is unapologetic about
being attractive, sexual and caring about her appearance. She does not stop being stereotypically girly
despite that it makes others think she is less legitimate and intelligent. She proves that sexy and smart
are not opposing forces. Elle is the perfect example of how being feminine does not mean you submit
to patriarchal notion of submissiveness.
One of the fundamental themes in Legally Blonde is that a female having an ardor for fashion does not
make her dim witted and that fashion insight is not an immanently futile form of knowledge. Elle s
fashion knowledge is introduced when a retailer labels her as a dumb blonde, and tries to take
advantage of her by ripping off the last season sale tag and selling it to her for full price. Did you see
this one? We just got it in yesterday. the retailer told her. Slyly, she asks Is this a low viscosity rayon
with half loop top stitching on the hem?. Why yes, it s one of a kind, the retailer replied. Elle uses her
fashion knowledge and wittily replies It s impossible to use a half loop topstitch on low viscosity
rayon.

Description Of The Old Structure
.) Abstract
City Works Depot which is owned by Tournament Parking, originally known as the Auckland City
council Workshops or The Nelson Street Workshops is a spacious, architecturally designed and
refurbished structure that was designed by Ewen Wainscott a passionate man who later became
Auckland s chief city architect for a period of 37 years (1967 1985.)
It has a history spanning 50 years and shows a great hope of continuity. The old structure was used by
the city Council up until Mid April. It was later refurbished by Nat Cheshire of Cheshire Architects
who helped to preserve the depot s amazing history embracing the raw materials; steel, concrete, and
glass and robust timbers. It houses a range of businesses such as; Food Truck Garage, Dry and Tea,
Three beans coffee roasters, Brothers brewery, Advertising agencies, Bauer Media offices, Paking
among others. In the present two incredible and very unique opportunities remain to be developed in
the area. The two are:the weighstation and the hoppers. It then awaits hospitality enterreneurs to
validate their potential.

1. Introduction
1.1. Use of biomass in Sub Saharan Africa
Biomass (charcoal and firewood) is the major energy source in southern Africa, particularly in rural
areas. Most households rely on biomass energy for cooking and space heating. This exhaustive use of
biomass cause several health and environmental related threats. This heavy reliance on biomass exerts
pressure on forests and trees which eventually leads to extensive deforestation and as well as soil
erosion. Furthermore, the traditional cooking on open fire leads to severe problems of indoor air
pollution and its associated health hazards. It is estimated that about 3% of the global burden of
diseases is caused by wood smoke resulting in 1.6 million premature deaths every year including 900
children under five (Malinski, 2008; Warwick and Doig, 2004; WHO, 2002).
One of the factors that results in high demand for fuelwood is its low combustion efficiency (Muneer
and Mohamed, 2003). The development and distribution of energy efficient cooking technology such
as improved biomass cooking stoves (ICS) is considered as one of the best technically possible,
socially reliable, and economically viable interventions available that can help to maintain low
demand for fuelwood to reduce pressure on forest reserves (Arnold et

Gentrification Of Downtown Kansas City
Gentrification can be defined simply as the shift in the makeup of the people in a community. It is the
transition in a community from a run down, poorer area to a more wealthy demographic.
Gentrification starts with the increase of property values caused by brokers and real estate agents.
These brokers and real estate agents usually benefit the most from gentrification. Businesses that are
moving in are storefront coffee shops, cafes, boutiques, etc. Since these newer, nicer shops are
occupying the storefront, the rent for the apartments above rise, causing many people to lose their
homes. The new tenants that move into these apartments are typically young and hip. They prefer to
hang out at these coffee shops below. These new landlords are more in touch with the demographic
changes and are looking to change the area in order to make money. The older, current landlords do
not see a need for change. Some people will argue that gentrification is inevitable. While
gentrification is happing all over the world, I did my research specifically on downtown Kansas City,
Missouri, Harlem, New York, and DUMBO, Brooklyn, New York. Gentrification comes with both
positive and negative effects. These three areas each show a unique perspective on gentrification. An
example of gentrification that has already happened in New York is DUMBO; it stands for Down
Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. DUMBO is an older area of Brooklyn. David Walentas is the
founder. David Walentas made a

The Quest Of Honor In The Film The Crucible
The Quest of Honor
Honor, abstract in definition, is elucidated by communities and its people. It is a changing force, that
can be approached from many different perspectives and has been interpreted countless ways. In the
past, honor has been interpreted as one code that all members of a community would follow in order
to be recognized with esteem and respect. Over time, it has evolved so that the individual determines
its meaning. An individual would build their honor manifesto on the values they deem necessary to
live an honorable life, honorable according to their definition. In The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, John
Proctor prioritizes love. Will Kane, from the film High Noon , directed by Fred Zinnemann, values
responsibility. John Proctor and Will Kane live life in accordance with an honor manifesto based on
the principles they prioritize, love and responsibility, however, both characters clash with their
communities due to conflicting values. John Proctor s personal definition of honor stems from the
concept of love. On multiple occasions, his love for his friends, family, and wife are his source of
reason and motivation. In Act III, Elizabeth is accused of witchcraft and faces conviction. Proctor
appears and presents evidence in her favor. He did not need to come, however, he did, because he
loves her and wanted to help. Not only did he fight for Elizabeth, but he takes on a much bigger battle.

The Problem Of Offender Profiling
Offender profiling can be described as the process often used in extremely serious offences such as
serial murder or sexual assault. The process aims to identify unique characteristics about the offender
through examining the characteristics of the offence and gathering information about the victim
(Farrington, 2007) as well as using information gained from previous similar offences before
gradually building up an offender profile.
In order for offender profiling to be considered useful, it must gather detailed information about the
offender, victim and crime scene which can then be used effectively by police detectives to eliminate
any suspects who do not match with the profiler s offender specification and aid authorities in ... Show

The information gained from the interviews was paired with information from the FBI s Behavioural
Science Unit as well as examinations of forensic evidence, nature of attacks and the crime scene itself.
The crime is then put into a classification system of being either organised or disorganised by building
a set of characteristics likely to be identified in each category in order to distinguish the type of
criminal that may have committed the offence.
For a criminal to be considered organised this would mean that evidence had been found that
suggested the offender had carefully planned out the offence before it had taken place, left very few
clues and had carried out the crime with a stranger as the victim. It is also inferred that an organised
criminal would have an above average IQ, be sexually and socially competent and in a highly skilled
occupation. Whereas a disorganised offender would display the opposite characteristics and would
typically be found to leave clues, have a below average IQ, be sexually and socially incompetent etc.
Once the profile of the criminal has been established, investigative suggestions are then made based
on the profile (Douglas et al, 1992).

The Red Tent Gender Roles
The role and strength of women in a male dominated society in biblical times is the fundamental
theme of The Red Tent. The red tent is a physical and spiritual place, where the women of Jacob s
tribe his wives, servants and daughters, could rest while menstruating and childbearing, but more
importantly, it became a safe shelter for feminist unity and companionship. The red tent provides all
the women a haven to be in their power together, to learn from one another, to be part of a community,
and to celebrate their lives without any disturbance from the male chauvinism. In the red tent , women
such as Leah, Dinah and Rachel are able to play critical and decisive roles protectors, friends and
teachers.

Rachel is Jacob s favored and primary wife. (Stacy, 2002, 24) Early in the novel, Rachel stands out
initially for her beauty and magnetism. There is no denying that Rachel is a professional and sagacious
teacher for Dinah, her medical skill is so superb and brilliant that she has cured and saved many lives
of mothers and their babies. In Dinah s mind, Rachel [knows] everything about delivering babies, she
and Inna [try] to learn what they might from women wherever they [go]. (Anita, 2007, 234) Moreover,
Rachel teaches Dinah not only knowledge and technique about delivering babies but also female
values and philosophy about love, dedication and sacrifice. She is only one in the red tent who brings
Dinah out of the red tent and encourages her to purser the true love bravely; she has given Dinah many
spiritual supports and guidance. Furthermore, Rachel is a great teacher for Dinah and other women
who live in the red tent. According to Reading the Women of the Bible, in the biblical time, women
were undermined by the society in which they live in. They spent almost all their adult lives producing
and looking after children. Under this circumstance, education was limited and very few outdoor jobs
were available to all women, they had to stay inside the red tent for their whole lives. They were
expected to marry and look after family because men have normally held power. However, as the
midwife, Rachel seizes the opportunity to experience the world outsider the red tent , she can learn
something new and different from the outsider so that she could teach other women about what she
sees and hears. Rachel [becomes] their link to the larger world. (Anita, 2007, 79) She provides women

Tinker V. Des Moines Independent School District Case Study
In 1969, three young activists walked into school and were told they could not symbolically express
themselves. Without these teens carrying out this simple act of rebellion, students today would lack
basic rights in the school place, as they would have no outlet outside of the home to express their
views. In order to understand Tinker v. Des Moines Independent School District one must examine the
history behind the case, analyze the case itself, and evaluate the impacts on modern society.
To examine the history of a case that continues to affect students today, it is important to look at how
the discrepancy began starting with Mary Beth, John, and Christopher. The tumultuous 60s can be

Using a subset of data from the Autism Spectrum Australia study done in 2013, this report examines
the employment activities and outcomes of 130 adults diagnosed with Asperger s Disorder and High
Functioning Autism. The study looked at several outcome areas including their current occupation,
skill level, type of job contract, work hours, job support to find work, job support at work, and their
positive and negative experiences of employment. Based on this examination, the authors found that
adults with AD and HFA continued to struggle with workplace difficulties and a lack of understanding
and support, even if they showed a capacity and willingness to work.

Nat Turner s Slave Rebellion Essay
#65279;
Nat Turner s Southampton Slave Revolt and How it Paved the Way for the Abolitionist and
Civil Rights Movement
Nat Turner was a man with a vision that would change America forever. His vision may
have not sounded right to the average person but to Nat Turner, he was on Earth to realize his vision.
Nat Turner is the most famous and most controversial slave rebel in American history, and he
remains a storm center of dispute( Fires of Jubilee author Stephen B. Oates).
Nat Turner s slave revolt may have not been the greatest way to solve the problem of slavery,
but it did open many people s eyes. Slavery was an accepted practice in society but it was not a
humane or kind thing. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reading the bible is where Nat received many of his callings to start his massive slave
revolt.
As Nat grew a little older, his life began to change in a succession of unsuspected shocks.
First, his father ran away to the North, leaving Nat and Nancy still in slavery. After escaping he was
never heard from again, but Nat never forgot him( Fires of Jubilee ). Around 1810 Nat s master
Benjamin, died of a typhoid epidemic that was sweeping through the small Virginia neighborhood.
In Master Benjamin s will, he divided his land and his slaves among his children. Nat and his
mother now became property of Samuel Turner. Master Samuel was a cruel slave owner compared
to his. Like his father he was religious but he scared Christian religion into his slaves. He told them
that God had brought them to the new world to serve the white man, and that they were to be
obedient to the whites. He said if the slaves tried ever to revolt or try to escape they would burn in
hell with Satan forever. Nat lived under these ridiculous beliefs while on the plantation yet his
belief in the lord and the bible never favored. Another new experience was presented to Nat when
he turned twelve, he started to work difficult and laborious chores like the older male slaves. He
could no longer play games with white children, no more fishing and cavorting. The same white
children he and the

Judas Iscariot
Any respectable actor recognizes the significance of a back story. When given a script one utilizes the
written text to imbue the silences surrounding the character s decisions. Not as an attempted to change
the narrative, rather it is the actor s responsibility to develop the character and produce a three
dimentional character. This essay uses a similar approach to study Judas Iscariot from the gospel of
Mark. Through this process Judas will no longer be the betrayer of Jesus, rather he will be seen a
friend of Jesus who felt responsible to fulfill the prophecies regarding the Son of Man. Judas becomes
the last and the servant of all by committing the most difficult mission to show his loyalty. I am
interested in the character of Judas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, it occurs a total of one hundred and twenty two times in the New Testament, fifty seven
times in connection with Jesus s capture. The twenty seven times it is used when Judas is not
mentioned it is translated by most as hand over. Yet, when used in connection with Judas the other
thirty two times, it is translated, betrayed. This is true for Mark 3:19, 14:10, 11, 18, 21, 42, and 44 in
which Judas takes part in the narrative the translation is betray. However, Mark 9:31, 10:33, 14:41,
15:1, 10, and 15 the same word is translated hand over. Furthermore, the closest any of the above
definitions come to negativity is the first, to give up a person. The lexicographer presents the betrayal
of Jesus as an example. This reveals that translators are swayed by the moral judgement cast upon
Judas. They are not outside the social norm of depicting Judas as a treacherous betrayer of Jesus even
though παραδίδωμι has a variety of uses and rarely, if ever, connotes betrayal. Consequently, Judas
does not betray Jesus, rather Judas hands over

Bob Greene s Short Story Cut
Being cut, especially at a young age, can diminish self esteem, lower determination, and stick with
that person forever. In the short story Cut , Bob Greene recalled his experience with not making his
seventh grade basketball team. After weeks of hard practice, Greene anxiously waited to see his name
on the team list, only to discover he d been cut. Greene turned into a hard worker, completing more
assignments and working more hours than needed. At the age of 16, now successful lawyer Bob

surprisingly, Abby exclaimed that following her voluntary dismissal, she applied for a job at a local
animal shelter, and was in the process of striving to be accepted into vet school at Purdue. She also
included that she had lost fifteen pounds, and was staying on a healthy diet. I worried Abby would

they turned it into a chance to build themselves into stronger people, and be satisfied with their
personal achievements. When someone gets told they aren t good enough, or sense they aren t, it can

The Importance Of Christianity In The Christian Worldview
One s worldview is the structure from which we view reality and make sense of life. We have all
contemplated some common questions. What is our purpose? How was the earth created? Is there
eternity? Why is there evil and suffering? The Christian worldview is consistent when responding to
these questions because of their beliefs and faith in God.
God
In the beginning God created the Heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1). God created all living beings
and He created man to live in His image. His creation was made in six days and on the seventh day He
rested. Before the world began, the Word was there, The Word was with God, and the Word was with
God. He was there with God in the beginning. Everything was made through him, and nothing was
made without him (John1:1 3). God is best described as the Holy Trinity: God the Father, God the Son
(Jesus Christ who is fully God and fully man), and God the Holy Spirit. Three persons, same
substance, one God: The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. As stated in Lecture 2, all three persons
were involved in the creation (Lecture 2). According to Christians, God is the sovereign creator of the
heavens and of the earth and is their ultimate reality. God s characteristics are being loving, kind,
compassionate, and forgiving. Other attributes are that he is eternal, infinite, omnipresent, omnipotent,
omniscient, immutable and incomprehensible (Lecture 2). On the sixth day of creation, God created
man. The Pinnacle of Creation

1950 s Sociology
The 1950 s saw a boom in the development of suburbs to counter the post World War 2 housing
shortage problem as living in the suburbs offered an alternative to the overcrowded cities. This
phenomenon coincided with the significant growth of the American economy, which granted the
people stronger purchasing power to own a big house in the suburbs and the confidence to improve
their socioeconomic status. Consequently, the suburban lifestyle came to be associated with strong
familial ties and upward social mobility, which can be defined as the American ideals of the 1950 s. It
is important to note that the media had a very significant role in shaping these ideals, mainly through
situational comedies (sitcoms) on television and advertisement, both ... Show more content on

This was largely due to the lack of representation of other groups of people such as the African
Americans, homosexuals and Americans from a lower socioeconomic status. In the area of race for
example, most sitcoms in the 1950 s such as I Love Lucy (1951) and The Honeymooners (1956)
mainly featured white characters, with little or no mention of other races. Set in a wider context, these
American ideals coincided with the Civil Rights Movement (1954) which sought to end racial
discrimination and segregation, therefore highlighting how these ideals did not encompass Americans
from all walks of life but only the white majority. Hence in leaving out Americans from other racial
and social groups, the media mostly shaped only the American ideals of the white majority as it failed

Examples Of Silence In Fahrenheit 451
Montag lives in a selfish society where everyone thinks solely about themselves. When Montag says
this is the age of the disposable tissue, he is not really referencing the handkerchief someone would
blow their nose with. He is enlightening the reader on how people in his society only utilize other
people for the goods and services they contribute. Someone in his society would be friends with
another person merely because they could benefit them in some way. An example from the book that
would prove he is correct is when Mildred uses Montag for the money he is able to provide her with.
When he threatens to quit his job, she leaves him and calls the fire department exposing his secret

The things vary, from homework to music on my speaker, to Netflix on my TV. It has become hard for

Overdose In Children Research Paper
Three years ago, my best friend was prescribed four different medications for three mental illnesses;
bipolar disorder, depression, and ADHD. On these medications I saw a side of him I never wanted to,
they made him crazy. I will be against the way psychiatrist treat patients now; they hand out
prescriptions like candy. Often children will be put on many medications, but it is very hard to
diagnose them with a mental illness or to know if they are just acting the way children do. Many
doctors use prozac for a variety of illnesses, but all illnesses need to be treated differently because
everybody is different. In addition, in 2006 a 4 year old girl died from accidental overdose on
psychiatric medications. In diagnosing a child, it can be very hard knowing whether they are just
acting out, or if there is really something wrong. Children now are way over prescribed medications,
especially with bipolar disorder or ADHD. According to a 2007 study by Archives of General
Psychology these diagnoses majorly increased from 1994 to 2003, 50% of these children were put on

Chief Tecumseh And Chief Seattle Speech
Through these neglections and stereotypes, two Chiefs, Seattle and Tecumseh, speak out for their
people by using various forms of rhetoric. In Chief Seattle s speech, he makes a letter to President
Franklin Pierce and any other Americans that play any parts in Parliament. The audience that the chief
is reaching out to may have Manifest Destiny, belief that God approves of the U.S, as well as the
belief that Indians are savages. Chief Seattle explains, however, that the Americans are the true
savages because they can not hear the sound of nature in addition to having no place to hear the leaves
of springs or the rustle of the insect s wings (Seattle). Chief Seattle contrasts how unnatural the
Americans are by saying that the sounds of nature are absent in the American lands. The author does
this to show his intended audience who the true savages are in hopes of showing the Americans how
the Indians view the American beliefs. Chief Tecumseh was another Chief who spoke out for his
people, but used different tactics than Chief Seattle. In chief Tecumseh s speech, he makes a letter to
General William Henry Harrison, rather than the President. The audience that Tecumseh is reaching
out to may see the Indians as a threat rather than the Americans as superior. Chief Tecumseh explains,
however, that the Americans are continually driving the red people, when at last you will drive them

Theosophical Influence Of Jackson Pollock s Art

through his drip style, action painting technique (Goodnough, 2012). Theosophical influence arose
from Phillip Guston and Thomas Hart Benton, while in the early stages of the artist s life. Muralists,
such as Jose Clemente Orozco and Diego Rivera were also admired and studied by Pollock. He was
captivated by the unorthodox techniques of David Alfaro Siqueiros which contributed to the abstract

Though such events have occurred in the past. Today, one of Korea s and Japan s goals to claim the

Mlab Concert Review
On November 18, 2015, I attended a UAB concert involving jazz combos and a guitar ensemble. This
concert was filled with amazing musicians, intricate solos, and thick harmonies. There were three jazz
combos and one guitar ensemble; the first set was the guitar ensemble, which contained four guitarists
and one bass player. The ensemble consisted of four songs: Swing It, a swing style song; Samba #1 ; A
Child is Born, a waltz; and Bill s Bay. The main theme of Bill s Bay was very catchy and memorable,
and the ensemble s most impressive player to me was Michael Galanti on the bass guitar. His solos
involved precise pizzicato and quick movement that I have never witnessed in a bass player. Next, the
series of jazz combos began, and a younger group of UAB students started to play. Their first song
was The Preacher by Horace Silver, and this song was the only song with lyrics. The singer was nearly
impossible to hear because she was singing in piano while the other group members were playing in
fortissimo. Also, I was startled by how loud the brass instruments sounded in the concert hall;
however, this is due to the trumpet being a haut instrument. Then, another combo began playing, and
this combo was under the guidance of Carlos Pino. The group brought more energy and more skill,

The novel initially began in Lithuania in the home of Lina and her family. As the story progresses they
are herded into train cars in a scene of panic and chaos. The train cars are described as very filthy,
congested, dark, and odorous, causing claustrophobia and possibly dementia. The train cars move
north and they finally arrive in Siberia where it is barren, dim, and completely isolated from major
cities. They are relocated to a plantation for vegetables where they are worked like cattle and given
little to no food. Throughout the story, Lina s thoughts turn into flashbacks where the setting is
constantly changing. After a year goes by they are deported into the Arctic zone of
Siberia, completely isolated from the rest of the world and forced to work in 6 months of darkness and
below freezing temperatures. They live in these conditions for 12 years until finally the Soviet s
tyrannical regime comes to an end and Lina and the other survivors are able to return to Lithuania.
Between Shades of Gray is much more than the resistance of a single person. It is more than just
telling and reliving all of the roughness and malicious sides of humanity.
However heart wrenching; the story is of finding hope for survival, throughout the biting cold, the
screams of pain, the pangs of hunger, and merciless evil. The novel recounts the

Aircraft Simulation Paper
This project is intended to give the student an improved understanding of aircraft dynamic behavior
thought the use of a SIMULINK flight simulation. The student is to use knowledge of flying and
handling qualities to appropriately grade a certain maneuver, of a certain aircraft, under a certain
condition. The student is to modify the performance of an aircraft through the implementation of a
control law.
For the purposed of this project, the aircraft in question will be a Convair 880 at an altitude of 35,000
ft. and Mach number of 0.8. The maneuvers performed will be predetermined pitch, roll and yaw
maneuvers. These maneuvers will be completed by a pilot using a joystick to make control inputs with
the aircraft utilizing a feedback control law, and with the aircraft in open loop configuration no
augmentation whatsoever. The student will also have a hard coded computer pilot perform these
maneuvers to maintain consistency. The first step in creating the control law was placing the CL poles.
The initial poles would then be placed in a K matrix; the pole values are listed in ... Show more

The figures for the flights were taken directly from the Simulink output plots. As can be noted the
aircraft performed significantly better with the control law than without. No points were obtainable in
the OL flights, while full points were awarded in the FB flights both piloted and computer
controlled. This project reiterated the understanding of how performance is changes with active control
solutions as opposed to costly, and time intensive conventional solutions. The Convair 880 with no
feedback control law could not achieve even adequate scores on the maneuvers, while with the control
law, the aircraft had no troubles achieving desired results consistently, with human and computer

Essay Cima Mountaineering Inc
Situation Analysis:
Cima Mountaineering, Inc. is a company that manufactures mountaineering and hiking boots for
mountaineers and serious hikers. The company mainly manufactures two classic kinds of leather boots
Glacier boots for mountaineering and Summit boots for Hiking. Although the demand for
mountaineering and hiking boots has increased in 1994, only serious mountaineers and hikers are
interested in their boots and the demand is seasonal, while the foreign competitors target both serious
and weekender hikers offering them a line of fashionable boots at lower prices.
Over the years, Cima s sales and profits have increased. The owners of the company grew up learning
and inheriting the boots business and thus have considerable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The second alternative as proposed by Anthony is to expand the existing product line by introducing
two new boots in the Summit line and another women s boots in the Glacier line. These new boots
would have a lower pricing to provide price points at the low end of the line. The new boots will be
positioned as boots for serious hikers who want quality hiking boot at a reasonable price and also for
casual hikers who are looking to move up to a better boot.
Analysis of alternatives and recommendation:
The advantages of choosing the first alternative is that it would help target the weekender boot market
which is 25% of the boot market share, which is more than both the mountaineering and serious hiker
market share put together. Also, the weekender boot market has high growth potential as shown by the
market research. But, venturing into an all new unfamiliar market can be very risky. The competition
in this new weekender market is very fierce and Cima doesn t have any experience working with the
new line of boots. It would also be difficult to change the perception that consumers have of Cima
from a mountaineering boots company to a casual weekender boots company.
The advantage of choosing Anthony s proposal is that introducing lower end boots will add on to the
advantage that Cima already has and may help in competing with other boot manufacturers who sell
lower priced fashionable boots. The

A Study On Growth Mindset Essay
Growth Mindset
Throughout my life I never struggled with having a growth mindset in terms of what I wanted to do
when I grew up. I spent a very large amount of time soaking in all the information I could about
certain professions. That included spent time with cousins and friends who were engineers, interning
at my father s law firm, working for my uncle s electric company, and being a camp counselor with
young children. After a lot of time and a lot of jobs, I still never found that passion that I was looking
for. This could be what they mean when they say someone is burned out . By the time I began working
for my football coach Kevon Bagot (we just called him KB) who was a personal trainer in the
offseason, I had given no thought into being in the fitness industry, nor did I even think about it.
However, it turned out to be my biggest passion and I learned more than I had in my entire life. While
a growth mindset could help one significantly in terms of academics, I found it to be most useful to
learn about myself.
A growth mindset tends to be evident when it is applied to people s passions. Some people find their
passion when they are in elementary school, others do not find them until after they are retired. I
found my own passion going into my junior year in high school. I had become burned out searching
for what I wanted to do with my life in terms of a career. I had spent the previous summer interning
for my offensive line coach KB, who was a personal trainer in

An Excited Loud Echoes Through Ford Field
An excited shout echoes through Ford Field: ELCA, are you ready for tonight? Around me, I hear the
roar of 30,000 Lutherans cheering in response. The noise is deafening, and being a part of it both gives
me goose bumps and makes my heart race. I stand there in Ford Field, in awe of the sheer number of
Lutherans surrounding me. As part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) National
Youth Gathering in Detroit, each person in the crowd is my age and shares the same religious beliefs
as I do. The energetic and unified atmosphere already has me smiling, and I can t wait for the rest of
my week in Detroit.
Of all the days following that night, Friday was the most amazing; at times, however, it seemed to be
just the opposite. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The speakers in Ford Field had all served so many people in their lives, from fighting poverty and
world hunger to promoting gender and racial justice. For me, I knew I wouldn t be changing the world
in one day, but at least I had a chance to help change Detroit. I guess that s why the service project
was so incredibly important to me, and why I was crushed when the DJ made an announcement later
that day.
It came around 2:30 P.M.; we had been talking, dancing, and waiting together for 5 hours, and our bus
still hadn t come. Anyone could tell how exhausted we were by the looks on our faces. Just as I had
convinced myself that our bus was next, a message came over the speakers: Buses 91 100 will not be
leaving today. Due to traffic delays, the buses are now needed to go pick up volunteers from this
morning. All remaining participants: follow your leader to the Cobo Center. In one moment, my
struggling smile faded and I was on the verge of tears. Thoughts flooded my mind: How could this
happen? Didn t they know they needed a few more buses? I waited all this time for nothing? How
could I miss this, it s what I came here for! Deep down I knew God had much more in store for me,
but at the time I felt cheated out of an essential part of the trip. Our tiny circle of six sat in silence for a
while, dejected and a little angry. We were given our lunch and began to eat together, but the almost
tangible silence remained hanging in the air. After we had eaten, our

Sony s Corporate Brand Identity
Background
Sony is one of the largest consumer electronics manufacturers in the world. It has introduced various
high quality products such as the Play Station series product line. However, Sony has not managed to
have a positive net income and has faced six net loss in the last seven years. Aiming for a turning a
round, Sony declares a goal of $4.8 million of operating profit in the fiscal year 2017 and targets a
10% return on equity (the Economist, 2015). Sony s business strategy to is to restructure and divide
the company into three sectors, which are Growth Drivers, Stable Profit Generators, and Volatility
Management, to give the business sectors the independence to operate in the most efficient manner

dollar, and the Euro (Griffin Consulting Group, 2012). Although the economic landscape is changing
for Sony, the company has potential to grow through its reorganizing activities.
Problem Statement
Sony must reposition its growth driven and stable profit generator sectors in their markets to increase
its audience, achieve sales growth, profit expansion and maximization, and capture market shares.
Alternative Solutions
To regain some of its market share in its growth driven and stable profit generators sectors, Sony can
reposition its competition in the minds of consumers. For instance, Sony can use comparative
advertising to demonstrate that its brands are superior to its competitors. In this situation, Sony can
attempt to alter the portrayed image of its competitor, Nintendo, and position its PlayStation game
console as the better quality product (Positioning(marketing), n.d).
Sony can also differentiate themselves in the market by employing a consumer focused positioning
strategy. A consumer focused positioning strategy revolves around consumers. This strategy can be
tailor made to the audience by using social media, apps, and other online platforms to engage, access,
and directly communicate with consumers (Positioning(marketing), n.d.). Being consumer focused is
in line with Sony s new planning

  • 2. Susan B. Anthony Essay Susan B. Anthony Susan Brownell Anthony was a magnificent women who devoted most of her life to gain the right for women to vote. She traveled the United States by stage coach, wagon, and train giving many speeches, up to 75 to 100 a year, for 45 years. She went as far as writing a newspaper, the Revolution, and casting a ballot, despite it being illegal. Susan B. Anthony was born on February 15, 1820, in Adams, Massachusetts. She was the second of eight children in her family. In the early 1800 s girls were not allowed an education. Susan s father, Daniel, believed in equal treatment for boys and girls and allowed her to receive her education from a private boarding school in Philadelphia. At the age of seven her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the Civil War, in 1863, Susan founded the Women s Loyal League, which fought for the freeing of slaves. Susan s work for women s rights began when she met a mother of young children by the name of Elizabeth Cady Stanton in 1851. The two women worked on reforming New York state laws discriminating women. Susan organized state campaigns for legal reforms and delivered speeches written by Stanton. Elizabeth and Susan organized the National Women Suffrage Association and worked hard for a constitutional amendment giving women the right to vote. Even though the 15th amendment allowed newly freed slaves to vote, women of any race still could not vote. For ten years, Susan and Elizabeth wrote their newspaper, the Revolution, focusing on the injustices suffered by women. In the 1872 presidential election, Susan decided to register and cast a ballot to protest for women s rights. She was arrested, convicted, and refused to pay the one hundred dollar fine. Susan Anthony went to Europe in 1883, to meet other women s rights activists. Later, in 1888, she helped form the International American Council of Women, which represented 48 countries. At the age of eighty, Susan B. Anthony resigned as president of the National American Women Suffrage Association, but continued to be a speaker at the conventions until she died in Rochester, New York, on March 13, 1906. In ... Hypothesis: I believe that the Huggies diaper will be the best overall. I believe this because; it is the most expensive, most inflated, and is the densest. The structure also seemed to have the ability to hold more fluid compared to the others, this made it very reliable. Coupled to a continued high and growing demand for oil, makes this a robust market for the next 30 years. Currently, the conventional approach is to aggressively explore and develop new fields. With supercritical water extraction and treatment, the heavy crude is upgraded to a medium to light crude that is higher value and can be further refined at more facilities worldwide. In addition, it can be transported and stored using conventional crude infrastructure already in place and leverage that capital and operating investment. Using supercritical brine , such as the water found with typical oil reservoirs or seawater (14) is the key difference and what makes this unique. Based on the cited experimental work, heavy crude can be hydrocracked more efficiently to make a medium to lighter crude in a relatively simple process. It has been demonstrated that in one step, sulfur is converted to H2S for easy separation, metals can be removed (25) and the heavy organic molecules are hydrocracked to shorter chain compounds with less coking than obtained with conventional coking and hydrocracking methods. There are various opportunities for deploying Supercritical Brine Extraction and Upgrading (SCBEU ): Use SCBEU units at bitumen and oil sand sites to extract and upgrade at the site. The SCBEU unit would replace much of the current oil sand solvent extraction washing process and does not require solvent recovery or disposal (4,5,9,10,11,12,25,28). • 14. Analysis Of Legally Blonde In the acclaimed 2001 film, Legally Blonde, the main character, Elle Woods, is a fantastic feminine icon for females. The film represents the struggle of women to prove their ability. Remarkably, Elle never succumbs to those who so strongly see her as being stupid. While others put down her abilities and intelligence, Elle hardly ever doubts herself. She moves through the world with pure confidence. As Callahan, a law professor at Harvard who later selects Elle Woods for his internship quips, it s as if she just woke up one day and said, I m going to law school. She decides on a goal and knows she can attain it, even if others only respond with incredulity or mockery. Legally Blonde has many positive depictions of women and femininity for a 2001 film. Elle doesn t fit the misogynist prospect of submissive femininity. She is loud, emotional, and flamboyant. When she enters a room with the clacking of her bright pink heels, Chihuahua in arm, beaming and effusive, you cannot ignore her. Elle s bubbliness and enthusiasm is often disdained, especially in the legal world, but she continues to express her true self. She is unapologetic about being attractive, sexual and caring about her appearance. She does not stop being stereotypically girly despite that it makes others think she is less legitimate and intelligent. She proves that sexy and smart are not opposing forces. Elle is the perfect example of how being feminine does not mean you submit to patriarchal notion of submissiveness. One of the fundamental themes in Legally Blonde is that a female having an ardor for fashion does not make her dim witted and that fashion insight is not an immanently futile form of knowledge. Elle s fashion knowledge is introduced when a retailer labels her as a dumb blonde, and tries to take advantage of her by ripping off the last season sale tag and selling it to her for full price. Did you see this one? We just got it in yesterday. the retailer told her. Slyly, she asks Is this a low viscosity rayon with half loop top stitching on the hem?. It is the transition in a community from a run down, poorer area to a more wealthy demographic. Gentrification starts with the increase of property values caused by brokers and real estate agents. These brokers and real estate agents usually benefit the most from gentrification. Businesses that are moving in are storefront coffee shops, cafes, boutiques, etc. Since these newer, nicer shops are occupying the storefront, the rent for the apartments above rise, causing many people to lose their homes. The new tenants that move into these apartments are typically young and hip. They prefer to hang out at these coffee shops below. These new landlords are more in touch with the demographic changes and are looking to change the area in order to make money. The older, current landlords do not see a need for change. Some people will argue that gentrification is inevitable. While gentrification is happing all over the world, I did my research specifically on downtown Kansas City, Missouri, Harlem, New York, and DUMBO, Brooklyn, New York. Gentrification comes with both positive and negative effects. These three areas each show a unique perspective on gentrification. It is a changing force, that can be approached from many different perspectives and has been interpreted countless ways. In the past, honor has been interpreted as one code that all members of a community would follow in order to be recognized with esteem and respect. Over time, it has evolved so that the individual determines its meaning. An individual would build their honor manifesto on the values they deem necessary to live an honorable life, honorable according to their definition. In The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, John Proctor prioritizes love. Will Kane, from the film High Noon , directed by Fred Zinnemann, values responsibility. John Proctor and Will Kane live life in accordance with an honor manifesto based on the principles they prioritize, love and responsibility, however, both characters clash with their communities due to conflicting values. John Proctor s personal definition of honor stems from the concept of love. On multiple occasions, his love for his friends, family, and wife are his source of reason and motivation. For a criminal to be considered organised this would mean that evidence had been found that suggested the offender had carefully planned out the offence before it had taken place, left very few clues and had carried out the crime with a stranger as the victim. It is also inferred that an organised criminal would have an above average IQ, be sexually and socially competent and in a highly skilled occupation. • 27. Judas Iscariot Any respectable actor recognizes the significance of a back story. When given a script one utilizes the written text to imbue the silences surrounding the character s decisions. Not as an attempted to change the narrative, rather it is the actor s responsibility to develop the character and produce a three dimentional character. This essay uses a similar approach to study Judas Iscariot from the gospel of Mark. Through this process Judas will no longer be the betrayer of Jesus, rather he will be seen a friend of Jesus who felt responsible to fulfill the prophecies regarding the Son of Man. Judas becomes the last and the servant of all by committing the most difficult mission to show his loyalty. I am interested in the character of Judas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, it occurs a total of one hundred and twenty two times in the New Testament, fifty seven times in connection with Jesus s capture. The twenty seven times it is used when Judas is not mentioned it is translated by most as hand over. Yet, when used in connection with Judas the other thirty two times, it is translated, betrayed. This is true for Mark 3:19, 14:10, 11, 18, 21, 42, and 44 in which Judas takes part in the narrative the translation is betray. However, Mark 9:31, 10:33, 14:41, 15:1, 10, and 15 the same word is translated hand over. Furthermore, the closest any of the above definitions come to negativity is the first, to give up a person. The lexicographer presents the betrayal of Jesus as an example. This reveals that translators are swayed by the moral judgement cast upon Judas. They are not outside the social norm of depicting Judas as a treacherous betrayer of Jesus even though παραδίδωμι has a variety of uses and rarely, if ever, connotes betrayal. I reconnected with her months later, and, surprisingly, Abby exclaimed that following her voluntary dismissal, she applied for a job at a local animal shelter, and was in the process of striving to be accepted into vet school at Purdue. She also included that she had lost fifteen pounds, and was staying on a healthy diet. I worried Abby would spiral downhill after quitting, but I was wrong all along. She had turned her situation into an opportunity to discover her future, and determined what her state of mind and physicality would become. • 29. The Importance Of Christianity In The Christian Worldview One s worldview is the structure from which we view reality and make sense of life. We have all contemplated some common questions. What is our purpose? How was the earth created? Is there eternity? Why is there evil and suffering? The Christian worldview is consistent when responding to these questions because of their beliefs and faith in God. God In the beginning God created the Heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1). God created all living beings and He created man to live in His image. His creation was made in six days and on the seventh day He rested. Before the world began, the Word was there, The Word was with God, and the Word was with God. He was there with God in the beginning. Everything was made through him, and nothing was made without him (John1:1 3). God is best described as the Holy Trinity: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ who is fully God and fully man), and God the Holy Spirit. Three persons, same substance, one God: The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. As stated in Lecture 2, all three persons were involved in the creation (Lecture 2). According to Christians, God is the sovereign creator of the heavens and of the earth and is their ultimate reality. God s characteristics are being loving, kind, compassionate, and forgiving. Other attributes are that he is eternal, infinite, omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient, immutable and incomprehensible (Lecture 2). On the sixth day of creation, God created man. This phenomenon coincided with the significant growth of the American economy, which granted the people stronger purchasing power to own a big house in the suburbs and the confidence to improve their socioeconomic status. Consequently, the suburban lifestyle came to be associated with strong familial ties and upward social mobility, which can be defined as the American ideals of the 1950 s. Someone in his society would be friends with another person merely because they could benefit them in some way. An example from the book that would prove he is correct is when Mildred uses Montag for the money he is able to provide her with. In Chief Seattle s speech, he makes a letter to President Franklin Pierce and any other Americans that play any parts in Parliament. The audience that the chief is reaching out to may have Manifest Destiny, belief that God approves of the U.S, as well as the belief that Indians are savages. Chief Seattle explains, however, that the Americans are the true savages because they can not hear the sound of nature in addition to having no place to hear the leaves of springs or the rustle of the insect s wings (Seattle). Chief Seattle contrasts how unnatural the Americans are by saying that the sounds of nature are absent in the American lands. The ensemble consisted of four songs: Swing It, a swing style song; Samba #1 ; A Child is Born, a waltz; and Bill s Bay. The main theme of Bill s Bay was very catchy and memorable, and the ensemble s most impressive player to me was Michael Galanti on the bass guitar. His solos involved precise pizzicato and quick movement that I have never witnessed in a bass player. Next, the series of jazz combos began, and a younger group of UAB students started to play. Their first song was The Preacher by Horace Silver, and this song was the only song with lyrics. The singer was nearly impossible to hear because she was singing in piano while the other group members were playing in fortissimo. • 46. An Excited Loud Echoes Through Ford Field An excited shout echoes through Ford Field: ELCA, are you ready for tonight? Around me, I hear the roar of 30,000 Lutherans cheering in response. I waited all this time for nothing? How could I miss this, it s what I came here for! Deep down I knew God had much more in store for me, but at the time I felt cheated out of an essential part of the trip. Our tiny circle of six sat in silence for a while, dejected and a little angry. We were given our lunch and began to eat together, but the almost tangible silence remained hanging in the air. After we had eaten, our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
