St Anthony Research Paper
Saint Anthony of Egypt was a saint that was considered the father of organized monasticism and was
known for living an angelic and inspirational life. Saint Anthony was born in the year of 251 AD in Egypt
and died on January 17, 356 in Egypt as well. Saint Anthony lived out his calling from God by becoming a
monk and living in the mountains to grow closer to God through prayer. Saint Anthony was a very
inspirational saint that lived an extraordinary life and was a very different saint from the others. (Saint
Anthony of Egypt). Saint Anthony s birthdate is unknown, however, it is known that Anthony was born in

Rhetorical Analysis Of Challenger Disaster By Ronald Reagan
Rhetorical Analysis On January 28th, 1986, Ronald Reagan, president of the United States, in his speech
entitled Challenger Disaster, discusses the space shuttle tragedy. He supports this claim by first mourning
the accident, then promoting NASA, tries to make sense of the disaster, and finally honors the astronauts.
Through Reagan s use of tone, rhetorical appeals, and rhetorical tools he effectively persuades Americans
to mourn the loss, but also continue to move forward and support advancement. Reagan brings the nation
together with his supportive and sympathetic tone to mourn and honor the astronauts and America s space
program. The President first displays support through his tone by promoting NASA.
We ll continue our quest into space. There will be more shuttle flights and more shuttle crews and, yes,
more volunteers, more civilians, more teachers in space. Nothing ends here; our hopes and our journeys
continue (6).
By saying this, Reagan tells the American public that there will be more explorations in space, and NASA

ground (2). The President makes these connections to show the American people that other famous
voyages have gone wrong as well. Great explorers have also died when learning more about the world.
These astronauts will also be remembered like these explorers were, and they will be honored and known
as great pioneers. Ronald Reagan includes the use of pronouns to include the audience in his speech. For
example, Reagan says, We ve never had a tragedy like this (2). When he says the word we, it pulls them
into the speech to feel more personal and connected. He refers to the country as a whole. He wraps up the
speech with sentences that can bring peace to the audience that he pulled in within the speech. The end of

Social Security Administration
During the Great Depression of the early 1930s a form of Social Security was created but the federal
government was not involved in the support of elderly people and their families, those concerns were
considered to be handled locally or by the state. According to the America s Historical Documents (n.d.),
that changed on August 15, 1935 when president Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act, this act
established a system of old age benefits for workers, benefits for victims of industrial accidents,
unemployment insurance, aid for dependent mothers and children, the blind, and the physically
handicapped (America s Historical Documents, n.d.). Now the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Along with being approved for these benefits Medicaid benefits are also automatically approved for the
claimants. Even with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) being in place with the potential/ goal of lowering
health care cost the Social Security Administration is adding significantly to the health care cost by
allowing claimants with multiple and sever disabilities the ability to automatically be granted Medicaid
health insurance. This program does not require the claimant or the claimant s parents to pay into medical
services as well as the claimant s parents are not required to be a legal citizen to get government paid
health insurance which means no replenishing of funds. For example if a child comes on to the SSI
program with severe behavioral disorder gets approved for health care benefits and the parents are illegal
aliens that child can still withdraw health care and financial benefits. Now the Social Security Disability
Income (SSDI) is an entitlement program through Social Security, this is a positive side to SSA. This
program is when citizen have paid into their Social Security wages instead of just withdrawing from the
government. For instance a citizen has worked up until the age of retirement which is 65 years old, with all
those years of working that individual has paid into their benefits and can now withdraw them without
solely relying on the government. One of the current initiatives the Social Security Agency is

Interstate Highway System Pros And Cons
The Interstate Highway System
Construction of the Interstate Highway system began in the 1950 s. At this time the unemployment rates in
America were still high from the Great Depression, but automobiles were becoming more popular and
Americans started to move to the suburbs. The highways were built to make travel easier and more
affordable for the average American. The military would also benefit from from highways by being able to
travel quickly across the country in an emergency.
Roads before the Interstate Highway System were not safe and many accidents occured. Deaths totaled
around 40,000 and nearly 1.3 million people were injured every year. (Weingroff). In 1956, President
Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the Federal Aid Highway Act . (Take a Field Trip Through the 1950s.) He
also felt that the Interstate Highway System would decrease accidents, save time and money, and help
businesses. The Highway was referred to as a public works project on a massive scale and make work
because employment rates in the country were extremely unstable at the time. (Weingroff)

In more simple terms, sexism is the false idea that one sex is superior or inferior to the other. In sociology,
sociologists focus on the differences that are determined by society, culture, and gender. It is believed by
social scientists that gender differences are not caused by biological differences. Although humans are
born male or female, individuals must learn and understand masculine or feminine behaviors. Therefore,
gender differences are a result of socialization, discrimination, prejudice, and other forms of social control.
For example, in the United States, a strong patriarchal system is enforced among Mormon
Fundamentalists. From a conflict and feministic perspective, gender inequality or sexism exists because it
benefits a group in the position of power and with power to shape society. This power group is men. The
theorists within these two perspectives argue that as long as men maintain their social, economic, and
cultural advantage within society that women will remain in their subordinate position. This subordinate
position women have within society is linked to their relationship to the means of production (Leon
Guerrero, 2014). Statistically speaking, women who work 41 to 44 hours per week earn 84.6% of what
men make working similar hours. However, women who work more than 60 hours per week only earn
about 78.3% of what men do. In addition,

The Consequences Of Antigone
Introduction Proverbs 16:18 is one of the most quoted verses in the Bible, reading Pride comes before
destruction, and an arrogant spirit before a fall [CSB]. This verse has been used in many casual, everyday
conversations today, used as a warning to some and an explanation to others, citing pride as the cause of
many downfalls. Much truth lies in this verse. When one focuses his eyes on himself and lets himself
become focused on his own greatness instead of the awesomeness of the Lord, he becomes too self
absorbed. At some point, trust in oneself will always fail. Many stories, both fictional and non fictional,
emphasize this truth and warn readers of becoming overly prideful. One such fictional story, the drama
Antigone, clearly demonstrates this principle in action. Antigone is the last in a trilogy of ancient Greek
tragedies, called the Oedipus Trilogy, written by a man named Sophocles. The story of Antigone continues
that of her father, Oedipus, the king of Thebes. Oedipus was known for unintentionally fulfilling a
disturbing prophecy of killing his own father and marrying his mother. Antigone, her sister, and two
brothers (Polyneices and Eteocles) were the offspring of this incestuous marriage. When Oedipus gave up
his kingship, Polyneices and Eteocles fought for the throne, killing each other in the process. Instead, their
uncle Creon became king. The story of Antigone picks up here, with Creon having taken the throne. Creon
has decreed that, though Eteocles

Bismarck Napoleon III and the Outbreak of the Franco Prussian War Bismarck, Napoleon III, and the
Outbreak of the Franco Prussian War The unification of Germany threw all of Europe off its axis. With the
formation of this new power there were now five major powers instead of four. This would work to
unsettle age old alliances and confuse the entire European continent for more than twenty years. Not least
among the nations swept of their proverbial feet was France. France was a rival with the German alliance
long before it merged into one state, but the new stability of a unified Germany made it a much more
powerful entity. France scrambled to try and establish a sense of security, immediately demanding

It seemed that the Germans were using the same tactic that they would use almost fifty years later, goading
their enemies into an irrevocable stance and into war. Ducrot urged the French that a pre emptive strike
across the Rhine would catch Germany off guard and they could march all the way to Berlin. However, the
French military heads had no plan in effect for a possible altercation with Germany and did not until the
war was eminent. They toyed with the idea of a possible alignment with Austria Hungary, but their
government was wary of such an arrangement but agreed to a triple alliance that included Italy. This
would, the Archduke estimated, create a force of nearly one million allied troops against a force of roughly
half a million Germans (Hwd 47). Finally, the event that would spur the war came to pass. The
Hohenzollern candidature for the Spanish crown had come open following the revolution against Queen
Isabella in 1868. The crown was initially refused by Prince Charles Anthony and then offered to his son
Leopold with the influence if William I. Leopold reluctantly accepted the Spanish crown out of respect and
servitude to Germany (Hwd 48). The acceptance of the Spanish crown and the lack of anyone to announce
it until considerable time had passed outraged the French and most of the remainder of Europe. France

Heroic Journey Research Paper
Ever since I was a small kid, I have always thought of hero s as Superman
Spiderman until I learned about the Heroic Journey. Most people don t really know what the Heroic
Journey is and think that a hero is person with superpowers, but in the Heroic Journey, the hero can just be
an ordinary person. This paper recognizes the differences and similarities between Guardians Of The
Galaxy and The Hobbit when analyzed through the Heroic Journey. Through this analysis, it is clear that
the majority of heroes start off weak but then grow stronger throughout the stages of the Heroic Journey.

is a henchman of Thanos who is one of the most powerful beings in the world. As they are doing this Star
Lord grabs on to a item called the Infinity Stone, which would vaporize anyone who would try to hold
onto it because of the immense power. But as he grabs onto it he does not get vaporized but instead him
and his team who help in taking in some of the power, are able to use it to destroy Ronan which makes
Star Lord the hero of the universe. In The Hobbit Bilbo grows and ends up getting all of the feuding
armies to join together and battle the true enemy, the goblins and wargs. This saves the mountain and helps
all of the races to get along in the end. But the king of the mountain is slain and his last words are thanking
Bilbo for what he did as Thorin says I go now to the halls of waiting to sid beside my father s, until the
world is renewed. Since I leave now all gold and silver, and go where it is of little worth, I wish to part in
friendship from you, and i would take back my words and deeds at the Gate (Tolkien 288). In both cases it
shows the hero at his full potential and shows him finally getting the respect they deserve. Thus showing
that hero s can grow and gain the respect of their father figures

Essay about Kangaroo, an Australian Icon
An Australian Icon
An Australian Icon is defined as an image or symbolic representation, which often holds great significance
and importance to the Australian culture. Every country has icons that represent their culture and values;
Nelson Mandela is an example of a South African icon but also an icon of the world, who represented
statesmanship, courage, freedom and equality against apartheid. Australia also has many significant icons
such as the Sydney Opera House, Uluru, vegemite, Ned Kelly, and the Koala to name a few. These have all
played significant parts in Australia s background, culture and values.

In their language this meant I don t know which is supposedly how the kangaroo got its name. Aboriginal
tribes have many different legends regarding the kangaroo and some see it as a reincarnation of their
ancestors. Over the past 200 or so years, the kangaroo has broadened a lot in historical significance; it is
one of the oldest icons of Australia and therefore should be kept that way. By contributing the Kangaroo to
a National Australian exhibition, it will help to keep the icon of the kangaroo alive and significant.
The kangaroo represents Australia s cultural and social background and is internationally recognisable. It
represents the Australian character in many ways including: Its size, strength and speed, which make it a
national logo/emblem for Australian organisations and especially sporting clubs. Kangaroo s are also
symbolic of another Australian trait; to stick up for your self and not back down. With their large feet and
long tail kangaroos find it hard to move backwards, indicating that Australians are people who are moving
forward and growing as people of Australia.

Foils In Hamlet
Characterization is a critical component of William Shakespeare s writing and is intricately developed in
his play Hamlet. As the protagonist, Hamlet deals with the tragedy of his father s death, and vows to get
revenge when the ghost of his late father informs him the murderer was his Uncle, King Claudius,
currently married to his mother, Queen Gertrude. Although Hamlet appears to be set on his deadly
vengeance, his indecisiveness and major flaw of procrastination becomes evident when compared to his
foils in the play, Prince Fortinbras and Laertes. The literary significance of a foil is to highlight a key
component of the protagonist s character through comparison. Prince Fortinbras and Laertes take action to
avenge the death of their fathers, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These three characters have massive similarities when it comes to the circumstances they are placed in, yet
their unique personalities lead them to take very different actions. Hamlet and Laertes share rage over their
individual losses, Hamlet surpasses Prince Fortinbras in motivation and justification for revenge, yet only
Prince Fortinbras and Laertes are able to take action unconditionally to avenge their fathers. In the play,
Hamlet has many chances to avenge his father s death by killing his uncle, but he fails to do so until the
very last moment. While Hamlet could have killed King Claudius by simply poisoning his food, he went to
the extent of maintaining an antic disposition, playing with Ophelia s heart, lashing out at his mother, and
killing an innocent fool (Polonius) eventually ending in his own death. Although he ultimately achieves his
goal by killing King Claudius, Hamlet subconsciously initiates more problems than are necessary. As the
protagonist, Hamlet has a very complex character developed by Shakespeare through the use of literary
foils. Prince Fortinbras and Laertes are extremely critical to the play since they offer insight into the cause
of Hamlet s downward spiral. Without literary foils to draw attention to Hamlet s internal weakness, it
would be difficult for the audience to determine

Is Julius Caesar Arrogant Or Dangerous
The character Julius Caesar is presented as arrogant and dangerous in Act 1 of the play. Discuss.
Often called the great political thriller , the play Julius Caesar written by William Shakespeare depicted the
political world of ancient Rome. Throughout history, many historians and scholars have argued upon
whether Julius Caesar was a man of great military power and political influence or a man trapped in his
own personal weaknesses and complications. Of the many topics of debate, the statement that Julius
Caesar is presented as arrogant and dangerous in Act 1 of the play is not, in the writer s opinion, a full
perspective of him. Although he did illustrate signs of tyranny, Caesar would often betray signs of
weaknesses as well.
Shakespeare s Caesar dominated the play at the very beginning. Through the conversation of Flavius,
Murellus and certain commoners, the audience would quickly discover the fact that the citizens ... Show

The first act of the play have illuminated his nobility in many ways. Domestically, he was faithful to his
wife, Calpurnia, and respected her advices and opinions. Shakespeare highlighted the importance of
Calpurnia to Caesar by designating Caesar s first word in the play to be Calpurnia . Publically, he
displayed honour and modesty. When Caesar was offered the crown thrice by his fellow friend, Antony,
Caesar put it by thrice, every time gentler than other.
Julius Caesar was not a tyrant, not a Roman as brave and respected as other characters such as Brutus, and
certainly not entirely presented as dangerous and arrogant in Act 1 of the play. Instead he was a mixture of
many characteristics that would later be the cause of much debate among historians and Shakespearian
scholars. It was the many aspects, noble and cowardly, of the character of Julius Caesar that Shakespeare
manipulated upon to create a play that still satisfies the minds of readers who study it

Compare and Contrast Essay of Rikki Tikki Tavi
Many people assume that the book and movie of the same story are always very similar, but they are
incorrect. In my comparison of the short story Rikki tikki tavi by Rudyard Kipling and the movie of Rikki
tikki tavi, I found them to be rather different. There were many minor differences, but the three main
topics in the short story that clearly differentiate it from the movie are the setting, the character traits, and
the use of humor. The setting in the movie differs from the setting in the short story in a few ways. The
setting in the movie dives into larger detail in many of the scenes such as in the beginning flood scene. The
flood scene setting in the movie reveals an eerie, strong, storm with a flood that resembles a river and ...

From the very beginning, the character traits in the movie differ from those portrayed in the short story.
The ways in which they differ include the various switched roles of characters and other aspects including
age and clothing. One of the switched roles is right in the beginning of the movie when the father lifts up
Rikki from the sand, whereas in the short story the mother picks him up. Another switched role would be
when Darzee s wife explains what happened to their baby egg that was eaten by Nag, but in the short story
Darzee does the explaining. One last switched role I came across was how Nag is the instigator who
wanted to take over the garden, but in the story it is Nagaina. Some other differences include the age of
Teddy and the clothing of the family. In the short story, Rudyard Kipling creates Teddy as a young toddler,
using words such as nursery to describe the room where he sleeps, but in the movie Teddy appears to be
almost ten years old with his fancy clothing and tall height. Surprisingly, the family in the movie wears
very nice, neat clothing. This is surprising because of the way Rudyard Kipling describes the setting. With
sand, dirt, and a garden, you would presume that it would be a humid climate, which would result in the
wearing of sandals and shorts. However, in the movie

Integrative Approach In Anthropology
Archaeology and the subdivision of bioarchaeology have played a profound role in our knowledge and
understanding of past and modern populations. Through the analyses of human skeletal remains, the broad
field of anthropology provides remarkable insights into multiple aspects of human life. Specifically, the
field of bioarchaeology has contributed to our understanding of how environmental, cultural, and
biological factors have influenced death and survival in the archaeological record (Martin, Harrod, Perez,
2013:1). Despite its immense contributions to the understanding of human behaviour, anthropological
techniques have faced a great deal of scrutiny when it comes to assessing health and disease from human
remains. Perhaps the greatest factor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to develop an in depth understanding of each of the factors that contributed to the health and well
being of an individual, bioarchaeologists collaborate with researchers from multiple disciplines, such as
biology, epidemiology, and demography to assess the context of remains (Larsen, 2015:66). This
integrative approach ultimately allows for the consideration of a wide range of factors that may have
contributed to an individual s social history (Martin et al., 2013:60). In particular, this knowledge is used
to create an osteobiography of the sociocultural and biological factors that were experienced by the
individual throughout their lifetime (Lecture: Week 8). Through the use of this osteobiography,
bioarchaeologists can gain critical insights into the social and biological phenomena that may have
contributed to the presence of skeletal indicators, such as abnormal lesions, or stunted growth patterns that
are demonstrated in many past populations (Larsen, 2015:425). While growth or stature may be interpreted
simply as a result of genetic factors, bioarchaeologists integrate data from across several different domains
in order to determine whether stature, or height for age, is the result of biological or environmental
stressors, or a combination of both (Larsen, 2015:426). Rather than jumping to simple conclusions,
bioarchaeologists seek to develop an understanding of the broader connections between health and
contextualization in order to better understand why certain individuals are more susceptible to disease and
mortality than

Does The Internet Foster Isola Essay example
One of the most talked, known and controversial issues today is the Internet. Internet is a large network
made up of a number of smaller networks. Almost every computer in an educational facility and in home
and small office use is connected to some type of a network. People spent a lot of time on the Internet,
which may make them seem isolated. However, the Internet does not foster isolation, because it may be
used for many different things like communication, education, problem solving and etc.
The concept for the Internet was to make a link in to a new world, a world that has many different
opportunities within its self. To gives the people options to go to China, Italy, and Egypt without spending
a lot of money on the trip. To open ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Internet provides just that. This may seem like isolation because no physical contact is present, and
some or all of the things that are said might not be true. This is a misconception. People that are talking
face to face with one another might be lying or might not be; the same is said for the Internet
conversations. People whose physical handicaps make it difficult to form new friendships find that virtual
communities treat them as they always wanted to be treated (Rheingold 206). Equality and understanding
is the key, and the virtual community provides that and much more.
Advice is also one of the keys for equality and understanding. As we all know advice in today s world is
not free, and most of the time you need to make an appointment to get that expansive help. The internet
provides advice that is free and at the same time on the spot. In Urbana, Illinois, the Federal Department of
Education has set up a network for parents, teachers, community workers, and etc. that have questions
concerning children, financial assistance, educational assistance, and etc (Thomas). The Internet is not
only for fun and games, but it is also for problem solving of all types. This is not the only site of this sort;

Washington, The Man Of The Revolutionary Era
Allison McNamara D Abbene, p.4 American History 8 18 December 2015 Washington, the Man of the
Revolutionary Era On February 22nd, 1732, George Washington was born in Virginia, but little did his
parents know that he would change America forever. George Washington worked hard to raise soldiers
spirits and help them to survive the winter at Valley Forge. He did anything in his power to get the
necessary supplies and best living conditions for his soldiers. George Washington lead the Culper Spy
Ring which was vital in winning the war. In the spy ring, anonymous spies worked around the clock to
find any information that could give hints to plans of the British. He lead the Continental Army

From morning until night he taught his army the art of war. He worked as hard as he could to make sure
his soldiers were ready for anything and everything that could happen on the battle field. But, training his
soldiers was not the only thing that needed to be done. Although the soldiers were making due at the camp,
conditions were far from perfection. He ordered that camp to be laid out in a way that best fit the soldiers.
His instructions were to build a log hut 14 by 16 ft for every 12 men. He also ordered his men to build a
bridge over the Schuylkill River to resupply his army more efficiently. Washington wanted the best for his
troops, and in order have that he needed help from sources outside of Valley Forge. As early as September,
1777, Washington contacted Alexander Hamilton to ask for supplies such as clothes and blankets, which
the soldiers were in need of. He desperately wrote a letter to congress to inform them of the harsh
conditions, and asking them for any supplies that they would give to his troops. He wrote, From my soul...
I pity these miseries, which it is neither in my power to relieve or prevent (Bruns, 63 64). Washington also
sent men on large expeditions to get food for his soldiers. These men were successful and most likely
saved the army. With all of these efforts combined, his troops supply dilemma eased and they got back on
track for the war. Although the winter was harsh, conditions gradually improved under the leadership of

Reflection Of Victor Frankenstein
I watched the movie Victor Frankenstein, in this movie unlike others before it, they intended to portray the
life of the creator instead of the monster. I believe that they successfully made this difference because they
explain his life and show his years before the monster is even created. The movie is more focused on Igor
and his relationship with Victor Frankenstein. This film shows more concern with the journey of the two
men and how they come to be equals in not only the science aspect but in the aspect of being humans. For
Victor Frankenstein the journey is focused on forgiveness and feeling guilty for his brothers death. Victor
feels guilty for telling his brother to follow him out in the snow and having his brother die while trying ...

I truly believe that this was a good movie. It pleased my asthetic and was a variety of different genres
within one movie. However I did not enjoy the gross gore and animal cruelty shown in this movie. This
movie was very strange in the way they planned out how things were going to be brought up and how they
left out key parts of the story but how they told the story that was told was very good. This movie did not
go over very well with society. The movie got very bad reviews because, like me, people did not very
much like the amount of gore and animal cruelty shown in this movie. For example, in the movie it shows
a half dead chimp with a rotting corpse and flies coming out of it. That chimp must have been in so much
pain and just the fact that they brought to life that chimp and killed it over and over again made me cry.
Not only that but Victor Frankenstein also shoved a five inch needle into Igor s back and sucked out the
contents of his hump which made me gag. So needless to say it was not very openly enjoyed in the public

Canadian Identity
History has shaped Canada by molding essential components that represent Canada today, such as
Canadian identity, values, and society. However, even though everything in history has effects on the
present, there are major forces throughout the 1900s that have largely contributed in shaping Canada
today. This involves, the victory in Vimy Ridge, women s changing roles, and the growing economy
during 1920s. As a result, these forces that shaped Canada throughout the 1900s, determined Canada today
by molding key components that represent Canada.
Undoubtedly, one major component that represents Canada is the Canadian identity. Today, many would
use certain words such as diverse and bilingual. However, before WWI, there wasn t much of a Canadian

Before WWI, women had limited job options with low pay, such as teaching, leaving many women stay in
their traditional roles as wives, mothers, and domestic workers. However, when men enlisted in WWI and
the war effort needed workers to make supplies, ships, tanks, bombs, etc, many women found themselves
doing the same jobs as men. When the men returned from the war, they took back their jobs, but this
caused many women to no longer be satisfied by playing their traditional roles. This created consequences,
were women fought for their right to vote, greater educational and job opportunities, be able to hold jobs
with higher power, and improved labour laws and health care. After many challenges to get equal rights,
most women were finally able to obtain a right to vote in 1919, and gain entry to higher job opportunities
while being considered as persons in 1929. Compare to Canada today, there is one thing that has continued
throughout the years, and that is the fight for equality. However, the change is that women are no longer
fighting for equal education and health care, but equal pay and the ability to hold higher positions. For
example, in 1921, Agnes Macphail was the first woman elected to the House of Commons, resulting in 1
woman out of 235 seats. After the shift of values, Canada has taken some steps by

Comparison Of Donatello David
Part One The Donatello David is depicted more as a young boy wearing a hat and holding a sword into the
head of Goliath. He is nude in this depiction and he shown with long hair. The sculpture looks as though it
is standing still. Currently the David completed by Donatello is located in the Museo Nazionale del
Bargello, Florence. The sculpture was completed in 1440 and is purely bronze which is shown in its dull
shininess. The David stands 5 and 2 ¼ tall.
The Bernini David is a more developed man with shorter hair. He shows more of a muscular build while
he is preparing to use his slingshot to defeat Goliath as he is twisting his waist and arms as to preparing to
swing his happen with great force. This sculpture shows great movement in its detail and this is known as
dynamic action. This David is located in Galleria Borghese, Rome. The sculpture is marble as seen it is
pale color and lack of shininess shows it lacks the characteristics of it were a bronze statue. Bernini
completed this David in 1623 with the dimensions of 5 7 in height.
Part Two Compare and Contrast:
Donatello used his skill to depict David as a still figure in the defeat of Goliath. The sword is stabbed in
the head of goliath and the sculpture shows some patina as it was done in 1440 and bronze does show rust
over time which shows the coloration of green on the statue. The statue looks almost as it is posing for its
viewers showing that the little guy can beat the big guy as shown by this statue in Florence as it pertains to
them as a city against other larger Italian cities. The posture that this David shows is contrapposto in just
standing in the moment.
Bernini designed his David to appear as it was theatrical and expansive. The so called flexibility of the
sculpture is using dynamic action. The life like adult male that Bernini sculpted is in the very instant of
combat as he is readying his slingshot with a twist of his waist and arm. This differs from the David of
Donatello in that Donatello s is after the battle had taken place and shows David as victorious. Both David
s are similar in the fact that neither is wearing armor during or after the battle. Although Bernini s David
has armor at his feet but chooses not to use it as

The Visual Arts, Technology, And Philosophy
One may wonder how much did The Information Age really contribute to society and, more specifically,
the visual arts, technology, and philosophy. The Information Age, as defined by Gloria K. Fiero, is
dominated by radical changes in the technology of communication and the way we receive and process
information (Fiero, 476). The Information Age paved the way for several brilliant artists to not only share
their work, but create their work. Artists, such as Andy Warhol, expressed their artistic abilities in the most
unimaginable, yet creative approaches. In the case of Andy Warhol, Warhol created pop art, which
artistically expresses popular culture in means of creating a compelling commercial advertisement.

jumbotron, which now allows to host several events close up (Fiero, 493). Moreover, total art is the work
of art itself (Fiero, 492). Total art is far from being considered traditional art, yet it is rather creative and
gives insight as to how the product is secondary compared to the process of creating art. Total art is
expressed in the form of performance and ritual. Additionally, total art can take several different forms
such as raves, flash mobs, and basically any moment that an individual would describe as art. Furthermore,
Pop art is more of an extension of traditional art, yet the art is expressed in a manner that grabs the
attention of an individual witnessing the painting. Pop art seems simplistic, however, pop art also seems to
be loud and eye piercing. Andy Warhol, the artist behind the creation of pop art, received the idea of pop
art through his experiences as a commercial artist. Since western consumerism seamlessly began to
expand, Warhol gave advertisements more life and personality in order to capture the attention of the
audience. Without artistic freedom and willingness to accept the

Irony In The Outsiders
There are many mind boggling books made throughout history, but a book written by S.E. Hinton, The
Outsiders, melted the hearts of many. . In this book, there is so much conflict between the greasers and
socs culminated in violence and physical confrontations. Greasers are the people who live on the east side
of Tulsa with less money than middle and higher class. Socs are the higher class that have parties while
getting drunk and still being highly respected, unlike the greasers who are looked down at by almost
everyone. These differences are only the beginning, and most of the hostility between the socs and greasers

Johnny is a kind of Christ like figure in The Outsiders, Dally is symbolizes Judas, and the rest of the gang
symbolizes the apostles. Johnny gives up his life to save others, like Jesus did. Dally could not handle the
death of Johnny, so he killed himself, like Judas. The gang, like the apostles, kept on living and telling the
story of their deceased loved ones. Dally felt like it was his fault that Johnny died, like Judas who killed
himself because he turned Jesus in. One more thing that is ironic is that Johnny killed Bob as an act of
revenge for almost killing Ponyboy. It was a bad action to kill Bob, but their bad actions lead them to a
holy place, the church. These are examples of how irony is associated with revenge in The

created by the Chinese in order to make US manufacturing non competitive. There are many things that
are going to happen if global warming keeps raging on. The NSIDC states that when the Arctic Ice melts
there will be an increase of 20 feet in sea level. Now we come to the fact of hurricanes. In 2009, there was
10 recorded hurricanes that happened all across the world. In 2015, there was 38 recorded hurricanes. The
reason for the sudden increase is because global warming is making the sea water warmer causing more
hurricanes. The reason why people are most afraid of global warming is because of the increase in the
temperature. NASA states that the temperature will rise 3°C in the next century. According to the NOAA
(National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration) our current average temperature is 22.6°C. As predicted if
Donald Trump builds the wall, then the carbon emissions will increase faster making the world warmer.
Scientists say that if Trump builds the wall it will increase faster and faster. They predict that in 7500 years

injuries, was able to rescue fellow soldiers from the burning wreckage. For his heroism, he was awarded
the Soldier s Medal, one of several commendations earned during his military career. Powell excelled in
military and academic pursuits. Although an average student in his early years, he made excellent grades
in his 30s while earning his MBA at George Washington University, despite lacking many undergraduate
prerequisites when he enrolled. Powell never put chalk marks on the wall that indicated he has to do this.
He has tried to do his best at what came his way. He was not without ambition, but driven by ambition. He

The music industry has many different genres, to suit a multitude of listeners; but, the most popular is
rock. Rock has numerous genres within itself, including; heavy metal, hard rock, arena rock, and many
more. The most popular genre would be either heavy metal or hard rock. They are both very similar in
taste with the only differences being what the music is about and the pitch of the music. Heavy metal is
typically about the darker things in life and it will have an overall deeper pitch to it. While, hard rock is
considered good time music and contains a multitude of different pitches.

WINDS OF CHANGE THE INESCAPABLE ROUTE
The Necessity
6. The Indian trade, industry and economy had been stagnating in the years preceding 1991 due to Govt
regulating the industry, and state protection policies of licensing, high tariffs and administered prices.
These protectionist policies made our industries complacent and curtailed the competitive spirit of the
firms, making them inefficient in the intensely competitive global market. The state of Indian economy
was in such doldrums that there was a necessity for the Indian Govt to implement drastic fiscal policies
and a controlled deregulation.
7. The Economic Turnaround of 1991. The state of the Indian economy made the govt realise that they
could no more remain isolated from the world economy, and therefore, brought in economic liberalisation
and free economy. Deregulation, free flow of goods within and outside the country and encouragement of
foreign technology became the order of the day. The new policies brought in a fierce competition, which
epitomised the age old dictum of survival of the fittest . Many firms were forced to close shop because of

European Fascination With The Acquisition And Exploitation
European fascination with the acquisition and exploitation of territory began centuries before King
Leopold II of Belgium s birth. The Portuguese were among the first Europeans to explore and settle
territories in Africa in the 15th century, arriving in the Congo in 1482 (Hochschild, p. 7). The newly
arrived Europeans built missions, and began to take part in the slave trade that was already established in
the region. Although African rulers took part in the slave trade, the scale of it was not as large and
systematic as the one that European involvement quickly developed it into. Methods similar to those
applied in the Congo during the reign of King Afonso became common practice throughout portions of
Africa during the ensuing centuries. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being a king of a small country with no public interest in colonies...a colonial push of his own would
require a strong humanitarian veneer (Hochschild, p. 42). In order for civilized western countries to allow
for Leopold to conquer territory in Africa, he would have to do it in the name of philanthropy. In the 19th
century, Christian ideals such as moral empire the religious duty to bring modern civilization to
undeveloped countries were popular among the general public (Hochschild, p.213). Knowing this,
Leopold decided that he would use curbing the slave trade, moral uplift, and the advancement of science in
his pitch to colonize Africa; not profits (Hochschild, p. 42). Leopold held a Geographical Conference in
Brussels in 1876 to discuss bringing civilization to Africa, using the guise of a humanitarian effort to hide
his true intentions. The outcome of the conference was the creation of the International African
Association, of which he was elected chairman. This was the first of a series of seemingly altruistic
ventures that allowed for Leopold to claim territory in Africa, and in the decades after that first
achievement Leopold engaged in many other faux philanthropic pursuits. Leopold utilized well positioned
political allies to imply that he was building infrastructure in the Congo, gave interviews discussing his
Christian duty to help the native peoples, financed his operations by selling bonds under the pretext of
assisting Africans, and

The Avant Garde Die First
In the 19th century, under the suffocating weight of a centuries long tradition in academic art, artists began
to break free. Tired of meaningless imitation and decoration, the avant garde artists pushed for drastic
revolutions in aesthetic and social taste. This experimentation rapidly grew less and less controlled, and
new technique and new style, which shocked and enraged the critics and public, stopped being

Their ideas may have been the first of a radical new tradition, but they weren t the most ostentatious. Later
movements like Dada, Surrealism, and art post World War II, would more clearly demonstrate the extreme
separation the term avant garde implies.
It is important to reflect on the detachment of art from its former religious manifestations, where the
painting was a moving piece of symbolic meaning (Barzun 32). According to Jacques Barzun, a painting
connected with the viewer because it reflected some manner of spiritual recognition; it was the attachment
to God or spiritual symbolism that satisfied the patron and provoked emotion, not the piece of art itself.
The Renaissance glorification of man, the scattering and weakening of the creeds of Protestant
Reformation, and the general unbelief caused by the progress of science caused art to become an idea into
itself (Barzun 33). These modern issues Barzun blames for the rise of art as a religion, with the avant garde
artists acting as seer, and prophet bearing revelation (33).
As Barzun stated, progress in science and technology became gradually more and more important as both
were seemingly helping humankind advance itself (Arnason 46). Artists, no

The poem The Laughing heart by Charles Bukowski begins with a declaration that puts mortality into
perspective. In lines 1 through 3 the main thought expressed, is that the reader is in charge of their own
life, and not to let anyone or anything change that mindset! your life is your life/don t let it be clubbed into
dank submission./be on the watch. ( Bukowski 1 3). In lines 4 through 7 the poem is telling the reader, that
no matter what situation, how desperate it may appear, if you just look for it there is always hope and a
way to escape. Look at the positive things in life because it always trumps looking at things in a negative

Don t hide in a shell like a hermit crab, and watch your life just drift by. Live life to the fullest. You only

Afro-Brazilian Self-Identity in Brazil Essay
Over the past several decades there has been an increase, in Brazil, of people whom self identify as being
black or Afro Brazilian. What sparked the rise in these identities in Brazil? Was it possible material and
intellectual gains or, sparked from activism, or from other possible factors. The black movement and
affirmation of black identity came about much later in Brazil than in other countries such as the United
States. In my opinion the most important factors for the rise in these identities are the material gains from
the Quilombo Clause, the effects of affirmative action and quotas, as well as social activism. One
important reason for the increase in people identifying as black in Brazil is the Quilombo Clause in the

For this community many, who did not prior, began to identify as black in order to qualify for the
Quilombo clause and get the material gain of land. Another factor that has led to the increase in people
identifying as black is affirmative action and the quota system. In the early 2000s Brazilian government
started to introduce affirmative action with a quota system. Quotas were added for university admissions,
government jobs, film and media, among other things. Affirmative action policies also favored places that
gave fair employment to blacks (Htun). The quota systems allow blacks to have more opportunities for
jobs and other intellectual gains. These gains are an incentive for people, whom may not have prior, to
begin to self identify as black in order to qualify for them. An example of the quota system in use are the
students in Brazil deciding whether or not to apply for the university entrance exam under the quota
system in the Wide Angle segment Brazil in Black and White . In this segment they follow five kids who

PEDS Should Not Belong In Professional Sports
It s crazy, why people think that it s okay to use performance enhancing drugs (PEDS) . It gives the most
unfair advantage in sports such as Increased leanness and muscle definition, Increased muscle mass,
General weight gain, Increased strength, Increased effectiveness of training, Improved recovery rate
Euphoria (feelings of positivity and confidence), and Increased aggressiveness. This is why I think PEDS
do not belong in professional sports. The nationals football leagues (NFL) policy on PEDS isn t as strict as
people think. There is only six random tests a year and to schedule. The first time you get caught, you only
get suspended for a few games . If you get caught again, you will be suspended for ten games without pay

Descriptive Essay On Lynyrd Skynynd
I have not been to many concerts in my life, so I did not know what to expect when I went to see Lynyrd
Skynyrd in concert last month. A few years ago, I saw Celine Dion in concert and was very impressed by
her beautiful stage, the infallible theatrics of her performers, and the wardrobe changes. I expected the
Lynyrd Skynyrd concert to be similar, but it was nothing like that at all. Concerts can vary in considerable
ways; everything from the stage set up, performance, and the audience can completely change the concert
goers experience.
The Celine Dion concert had a very elaborate stage with beautiful props and decorations. Each seemed to
magically change to match every new song she sang. I was expecting a comparable lay out at the Lynyrd
Skynyrd concert. Their concert, however, was just the opposite. While waiting for Lynyrd Skynyrd to
perform, I noticed that the stage was sparse and unimpressive. The only thing that really caught my eye
was a baby grand piano on the left side of the stage. The other items on stage were just typical musical
instruments that you would expect to see at any rock concert. The only thing that changed throughout the
concert was a cheap backdrop that would occasionally change to fit the song.
As Celine came out on stage and started to perform her first song, everything was choreographed perfectly.
Celine, her band, and her backup dancers, impeccably executed each song. The Las Vegas style influence
on her show was undeniable. Obviously, she and

A Comprehensive Product Costing Effort On Pecans As A...
The focus for this project will be to demonstrate a comprehensive product costing effort on pecans as a
snack food produced by John B. Sanfilippo Son, Inc (Sanfilippo). A comprehensive product costing
identifying retail pricing, competitive factors, value chain and potential economic data impacts for
Sanfilippo and a primary competitor, Diamond Foods, will be considered for consider and to estimate the
market for the project (Sanfilippo, n.d.). Economic impacts to be evaluated include the impact of
environmental factors, and marketplace factors, both of which may impact product cost and price.
Sanfilippo Evaluation of Product Costing
Pricing product effectively can drive success or failure for a product. But what should be considered ...

Although the product itself is purchased from various producers across the United States and Mexico
(Edgar, 2015), Sanfilippo s manufacturing site for its pecan products demonstrates a well informed
decision making choice.
As a seasonally based product capable of being stored for up to 5 years based on storage conditions,
Sanfilippo could have realistically chosen any location within the US. After beginning its pecan location in
a small store front in Chicago (Sanfilippo, 2012), the company expanded in 1991 to multiple locations
strategic to the product produced. The Selma, Texas location used primarily to produce pecans supports
storage of the in shell product in an environmentally stable geographic location (Sanfilippo, 2016). The
small suburban community meets many of the most common location decision making criteria with low
labor and transportation costs, energy costs, low union labor participation impacting labor and
management costs (Kalantari, 2013).
Sanfilippo Product Pricing
When comparing a product to its competitors, it is desirable to use product cost and other comparative
factors that may feed into its stability in the marketplace. One of the primary competitors for Sanfilippo s
Fisher Pecan line is Diamond Pecans (Edgar, 2015). For a product with only one ingredient,

Do Public Subsidies For Professional Athletic...
Do public subsidies for professional athletic organizations benefit their local community?
Sports teams, or professional athletic organization, are extremely important institutions within a city or
region. They can help connect people with places, and through this loyalty, a sense of civic pride can be
seen. Furthermore, the multi billion dollar industry sports produces effects that can impact individuals and
communities. In recent years dozens of new sports stadiums have been built throughout the country, with
major funding coming from public subsidies. The aim of this paper is to analyze the positive and negative
impacts that come with these subsidies.
The issue at hand, however, is that power has shifted from the cities to the teams themselves. Professional
athletic organizations have started taking advantage of cities by threatening to relocate unless they get
public subsidies for expensive stadium renovations and construction. With this in mind it is imperative to
ask today s question: Do public subsidies for professional athletic organizations benefit their local
community? The way I plan on conducting research is through a literary analysis, as I am a high school
student with very few resources to gather large amounts of primary data. The types of literature that will
be in this paper will include studies, meta analysis, news articles, and magazine articles. By gathering this
information, I will be more equipped to conduct more intensive research in the

Rap God And The Snowman Analysis
Can I ask all of you to please close your eyes? Now imagine coming home from work and visualize you
seeing a group of large, black and white whales eating all kinds of pastries outside of your house. Now I
need you to see this. They are dropping chocolate and jelly filling everywhere. Then, you go back inside of
your house and you appreciate the quality of the light. This light shines on glittering white Olaf the
Snowman. He is dancing on your coffee table, partying his heart out, slowly melting because you keep it a
crisp 71 degrees in your house. Then you go into your room, crawl in your bed and try to take a nap
because your back hurts. You turn your head and Bigfoot is sleeping right beside you snoring louder than
your grandfather on Christmas Eve. You ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone clapped, he bowed, and the judge gave him a one. Okay, maybe that last part didn t happen.
Shortly thereafter, a servant came up to Simonides and told him that two young men on horseback had
come to the door asking for him. He went outside and no one was there. He then turned around and the
roof of the banquet hall had collapsed. When the bodies of the dead were recovered, they were so mangled
that not even the victims families could figure out who was who. Simonides found, though, that he could
picture the banquet hall in his mind s eye and remember the order in which the guests had been sitting.
This allowed him to identify the dead and guide each person to their family members. What Simonides
figured out at that moment, is as bad as we are at remembering names and phone numbers, we have
profound ocular and spatial memories. If I asked you to recount the first the ninth word of the story I told
you just now, chances are you would have a tough time with it. But, I would wager that if I asked you to
recall who is in your bed right now snoring as loud as your grandfather, you would be able to see

  • 3. Rhetorical Analysis Of Challenger Disaster By Ronald Reagan Rhetorical Analysis On January 28th, 1986, Ronald Reagan, president of the United States, in his speech entitled Challenger Disaster, discusses the space shuttle tragedy. He supports this claim by first mourning the accident, then promoting NASA, tries to make sense of the disaster, and finally honors the astronauts. Through Reagan s use of tone, rhetorical appeals, and rhetorical tools he effectively persuades Americans to mourn the loss, but also continue to move forward and support advancement. Reagan brings the nation together with his supportive and sympathetic tone to mourn and honor the astronauts and America s space program. The President first displays support through his tone by promoting NASA. We ll continue our quest into space. There will be more shuttle flights and more shuttle crews and, yes, more volunteers, more civilians, more teachers in space. Nothing ends here; our hopes and our journeys continue (6). These astronauts will also be remembered like these explorers were, and they will be honored and known as great pioneers. Ronald Reagan includes the use of pronouns to include the audience in his speech. For example, Reagan says, We ve never had a tragedy like this (2). Analysis of a Stakeholder Michelle Robinson 5/29/16 HCA255 Orazie Slayton Social Security Administration During the Great Depression of the early 1930s a form of Social Security was created but the federal government was not involved in the support of elderly people and their families, those concerns were considered to be handled locally or by the state. According to the America s Historical Documents (n.d.), that changed on August 15, 1935 when president Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act, this act established a system of old age benefits for workers, benefits for victims of industrial accidents, unemployment insurance, aid for dependent mothers and children, the blind, and the physically handicapped (America s Historical Documents, n.d.). Now the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Along with being approved for these benefits Medicaid benefits are also automatically approved for the claimants. Even with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) being in place with the potential/ goal of lowering health care cost the Social Security Administration is adding significantly to the health care cost by allowing claimants with multiple and sever disabilities the ability to automatically be granted Medicaid health insurance. This program does not require the claimant or the claimant s parents to pay into medical services as well as the claimant s parents are not required to be a legal citizen to get government paid health insurance which means no replenishing of funds. For example if a child comes on to the SSI program with severe behavioral disorder gets approved for health care benefits and the parents are illegal aliens that child can still withdraw health care and financial benefits. Now the Social Security Disability Income (SSDI) is an entitlement program through Social Security, this is a positive side to SSA. This program is when citizen have paid into their Social Security wages instead of just withdrawing from the government. For instance a citizen has worked up until the age of retirement which is 65 years old, with all those years of working that individual has paid into their benefits and can now withdraw them without solely relying on the government. At this time the unemployment rates in America were still high from the Great Depression, but automobiles were becoming more popular and Americans started to move to the suburbs. The highways were built to make travel easier and more affordable for the average American. The military would also benefit from from highways by being able to travel quickly across the country in an emergency. Roads before the Interstate Highway System were not safe and many accidents occured. Deaths totaled around 40,000 and nearly 1.3 million people were injured every year. (Weingroff). In 1956, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the Federal Aid Highway Act . (Take a Field Trip Through the 1950s.) He also felt that the Interstate Highway System would decrease accidents, save time and money, and help businesses. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In more simple terms, sexism is the false idea that one sex is superior or inferior to the other. In sociology, sociologists focus on the differences that are determined by society, culture, and gender. It is believed by social scientists that gender differences are not caused by biological differences. Although humans are born male or female, individuals must learn and understand masculine or feminine behaviors. Therefore, gender differences are a result of socialization, discrimination, prejudice, and other forms of social control. For example, in the United States, a strong patriarchal system is enforced among Mormon Fundamentalists. From a conflict and feministic perspective, gender inequality or sexism exists because it benefits a group in the position of power and with power to shape society. This power group is men. The theorists within these two perspectives argue that as long as men maintain their social, economic, and cultural advantage within society that women will remain in their subordinate position. This subordinate position women have within society is linked to their relationship to the means of production (Leon Guerrero, 2014). Statistically speaking, women who work 41 to 44 hours per week earn 84.6% of what men make working similar hours. However, women who work more than 60 hours per week only earn about 78.3% of what men do. In addition, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Consequences Of Antigone Introduction Proverbs 16:18 is one of the most quoted verses in the Bible, reading Pride comes before destruction, and an arrogant spirit before a fall [CSB]. This verse has been used in many casual, everyday conversations today, used as a warning to some and an explanation to others, citing pride as the cause of many downfalls. Much truth lies in this verse. When one focuses his eyes on himself and lets himself become focused on his own greatness instead of the awesomeness of the Lord, he becomes too self absorbed. At some point, trust in oneself will always fail. Many stories, both fictional and non fictional, emphasize this truth and warn readers of becoming overly prideful. One such fictional story, the drama Antigone, clearly demonstrates this principle in action. Antigone is the last in a trilogy of ancient Greek tragedies, called the Oedipus Trilogy, written by a man named Sophocles. The story of Antigone continues that of her father, Oedipus, the king of Thebes. Oedipus was known for unintentionally fulfilling a disturbing prophecy of killing his own father and marrying his mother. Antigone, her sister, and two brothers (Polyneices and Eteocles) were the offspring of this incestuous marriage. When Oedipus gave up his kingship, Polyneices and Eteocles fought for the throne, killing each other in the process. Instead, their uncle Creon became king. The story of Antigone picks up here, with Creon having taken the throne. Creon has decreed that, though Eteocles ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This would work to unsettle age old alliances and confuse the entire European continent for more than twenty years. Not least among the nations swept of their proverbial feet was France. It seemed that the Germans were using the same tactic that they would use almost fifty years later, goading their enemies into an irrevocable stance and into war. Ducrot urged the French that a pre emptive strike across the Rhine would catch Germany off guard and they could march all the way to Berlin. However, the French military heads had no plan in effect for a possible altercation with Germany and did not until the war was eminent. They toyed with the idea of a possible alignment with Austria Hungary, but their government was wary of such an arrangement but agreed to a triple alliance that included Italy. This would, the Archduke estimated, create a force of nearly one million allied troops against a force of roughly half a million Germans (Hwd 47). Finally, the event that would spur the war came to pass. The Hohenzollern candidature for the Spanish crown had come open following the revolution against Queen Isabella in 1868. The crown was initially refused by Prince Charles Anthony and then offered to his son Leopold with the influence if William I. Leopold reluctantly accepted the Spanish crown out of respect and servitude to Germany (Hwd 48). Every country has icons that represent their culture and values; Nelson Mandela is an example of a South African icon but also an icon of the world, who represented statesmanship, courage, freedom and equality against apartheid. Australia also has many significant icons such as the Sydney Opera House, Uluru, vegemite, Ned Kelly, and the Koala to name a few. By contributing the Kangaroo to a National Australian exhibition, it will help to keep the icon of the kangaroo alive and significant. The kangaroo represents Australia s cultural and social background and is internationally recognisable. It represents the Australian character in many ways including: Its size, strength and speed, which make it a national logo/emblem for Australian organisations and especially sporting clubs. As the protagonist, Hamlet deals with the tragedy of his father s death, and vows to get revenge when the ghost of his late father informs him the murderer was his Uncle, King Claudius, currently married to his mother, Queen Gertrude. Although Hamlet appears to be set on his deadly vengeance, his indecisiveness and major flaw of procrastination becomes evident when compared to his foils in the play, Prince Fortinbras and Laertes. These three characters have massive similarities when it comes to the circumstances they are placed in, yet their unique personalities lead them to take very different actions. Hamlet and Laertes share rage over their individual losses, Hamlet surpasses Prince Fortinbras in motivation and justification for revenge, yet only Prince Fortinbras and Laertes are able to take action unconditionally to avenge their fathers. In the play, Hamlet has many chances to avenge his father s death by killing his uncle, but he fails to do so until the very last moment. While Hamlet could have killed King Claudius by simply poisoning his food, he went to the extent of maintaining an antic disposition, playing with Ophelia s heart, lashing out at his mother, and killing an innocent fool (Polonius) eventually ending in his own death. Although he ultimately achieves his goal by killing King Claudius, Hamlet subconsciously initiates more problems than are necessary. As the protagonist, Hamlet has a very complex character developed by Shakespeare through the use of literary foils. • 13. Is Julius Caesar Arrogant Or Dangerous The character Julius Caesar is presented as arrogant and dangerous in Act 1 of the play. Discuss. Often called the great political thriller , the play Julius Caesar written by William Shakespeare depicted the political world of ancient Rome. Throughout history, many historians and scholars have argued upon whether Julius Caesar was a man of great military power and political influence or a man trapped in his own personal weaknesses and complications. Of the many topics of debate, the statement that Julius Caesar is presented as arrogant and dangerous in Act 1 of the play is not, in the writer s opinion, a full perspective of him. Although he did illustrate signs of tyranny, Caesar would often betray signs of weaknesses as well. Shakespeare s Caesar dominated the play at the very beginning. When Caesar was offered the crown thrice by his fellow friend, Antony, Caesar put it by thrice, every time gentler than other. Julius Caesar was not a tyrant, not a Roman as brave and respected as other characters such as Brutus, and certainly not entirely presented as dangerous and arrogant in Act 1 of the play. In my comparison of the short story Rikki tikki tavi by Rudyard Kipling and the movie of Rikki tikki tavi, I found them to be rather different. There were many minor differences, but the three main topics in the short story that clearly differentiate it from the movie are the setting, the character traits, and the use of humor. The setting in the movie differs from the setting in the short story in a few ways. The setting in the movie dives into larger detail in many of the scenes such as in the beginning flood scene. From the very beginning, the character traits in the movie differ from those portrayed in the short story. The ways in which they differ include the various switched roles of characters and other aspects including age and clothing. One of the switched roles is right in the beginning of the movie when the father lifts up Rikki from the sand, whereas in the short story the mother picks him up. Another switched role would be when Darzee s wife explains what happened to their baby egg that was eaten by Nag, but in the short story Darzee does the explaining. One last switched role I came across was how Nag is the instigator who wanted to take over the garden, but in the story it is Nagaina. Some other differences include the age of Teddy and the clothing of the family. In the short story, Rudyard Kipling creates Teddy as a young toddler, using words such as nursery to describe the room where he sleeps, but in the movie Teddy appears to be almost ten years old with his fancy clothing and tall height. Surprisingly, the family in the movie wears very nice, neat clothing. This is surprising because of the way Rudyard Kipling describes the setting. With sand, dirt, and a garden, you would presume that it would be a humid climate, which would result in the wearing of sandals and shorts. However, in the movie ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order to develop an in depth understanding of each of the factors that contributed to the health and well being of an individual, bioarchaeologists collaborate with researchers from multiple disciplines, such as biology, epidemiology, and demography to assess the context of remains (Larsen, 2015:66). This integrative approach ultimately allows for the consideration of a wide range of factors that may have contributed to an individual s social history (Martin et al., 2013:60). In particular, this knowledge is used to create an osteobiography of the sociocultural and biological factors that were experienced by the individual throughout their lifetime (Lecture: Week 8). Through the use of this osteobiography, bioarchaeologists can gain critical insights into the social and biological phenomena that may have contributed to the presence of skeletal indicators, such as abnormal lesions, or stunted growth patterns that are demonstrated in many past populations (Larsen, 2015:425). While growth or stature may be interpreted simply as a result of genetic factors, bioarchaeologists integrate data from across several different domains in order to determine whether stature, or height for age, is the result of biological or environmental stressors, or a combination of both (Larsen, 2015:426). Rather than jumping to simple conclusions, bioarchaeologists seek to develop an understanding of the broader connections between health and contextualization in order to better understand why certain individuals are more susceptible to disease and mortality than ... Almost every computer in an educational facility and in home and small office use is connected to some type of a network. People spent a lot of time on the Internet, which may make them seem isolated. However, the Internet does not foster isolation, because it may be used for many different things like communication, education, problem solving and etc. The concept for the Internet was to make a link in to a new world, a world that has many different opportunities within its self. This may seem like isolation because no physical contact is present, and some or all of the things that are said might not be true. This is a misconception. People that are talking face to face with one another might be lying or might not be; the same is said for the Internet conversations. People whose physical handicaps make it difficult to form new friendships find that virtual communities treat them as they always wanted to be treated (Rheingold 206). Equality and understanding is the key, and the virtual community provides that and much more. Advice is also one of the keys for equality and understanding. As we all know advice in today s world is not free, and most of the time you need to make an appointment to get that expansive help. The internet provides advice that is free and at the same time on the spot. In Urbana, Illinois, the Federal Department of Education has set up a network for parents, teachers, community workers, and etc. that have questions concerning children, financial assistance, educational assistance, and etc (Thomas). The Internet is not only for fun and games, but it is also for problem solving of all types. I believe that they successfully made this difference because they explain his life and show his years before the monster is even created. The movie is more focused on Igor and his relationship with Victor Frankenstein. This film shows more concern with the journey of the two men and how they come to be equals in not only the science aspect but in the aspect of being humans. When the men returned from the war, they took back their jobs, but this caused many women to no longer be satisfied by playing their traditional roles. This created consequences, were women fought for their right to vote, greater educational and job opportunities, be able to hold jobs with higher power, and improved labour laws and health care. • 23. Comparison Of Donatello David Part One The Donatello David is depicted more as a young boy wearing a hat and holding a sword into the head of Goliath. He is nude in this depiction and he shown with long hair. The sculpture looks as though it is standing still. Currently the David completed by Donatello is located in the Museo Nazionale del Bargello, Florence. The sculpture was completed in 1440 and is purely bronze which is shown in its dull shininess. The David stands 5 and 2 ¼ tall. The Bernini David is a more developed man with shorter hair. He shows more of a muscular build while he is preparing to use his slingshot to defeat Goliath as he is twisting his waist and arms as to preparing to swing his happen with great force. This sculpture shows great movement in its detail and this is known as dynamic action. This David is located in Galleria Borghese, Rome. The sculpture is marble as seen it is pale color and lack of shininess shows it lacks the characteristics of it were a bronze statue. Bernini completed this David in 1623 with the dimensions of 5 7 in height. Part Two Compare and Contrast: Donatello used his skill to depict David as a still figure in the defeat of Goliath. The sword is stabbed in the head of goliath and the sculpture shows some patina as it was done in 1440 and bronze does show rust over time which shows the coloration of green on the statue. The statue looks almost as it is posing for its viewers showing that the little guy can beat the big guy as shown by this statue in Florence as it pertains to them as a city against other larger Italian cities. The posture that this David shows is contrapposto in just standing in the moment. Bernini designed his David to appear as it was theatrical and expansive. The so called flexibility of the sculpture is using dynamic action. The life like adult male that Bernini sculpted is in the very instant of combat as he is readying his slingshot with a twist of his waist and arm. This differs from the David of Donatello in that Donatello s is after the battle had taken place and shows David as victorious. The newly arrived Europeans built missions, and began to take part in the slave trade that was already established in the region. In order for civilized western countries to allow for Leopold to conquer territory in Africa, he would have to do it in the name of philanthropy. In the 19th century, Christian ideals such as moral empire the religious duty to bring modern civilization to undeveloped countries were popular among the general public (Hochschild, p.213). Knowing this, Leopold decided that he would use curbing the slave trade, moral uplift, and the advancement of science in his pitch to colonize Africa; not profits (Hochschild, p. 42). Leopold held a Geographical Conference in Brussels in 1876 to discuss bringing civilization to Africa, using the guise of a humanitarian effort to hide his true intentions. The outcome of the conference was the creation of the International African Association, of which he was elected chairman. This was the first of a series of seemingly altruistic ventures that allowed for Leopold to claim territory in Africa, and in the decades after that first achievement Leopold engaged in many other faux philanthropic pursuits. The Renaissance glorification of man, the scattering and weakening of the creeds of Protestant Reformation, and the general unbelief caused by the progress of science caused art to become an idea into itself (Barzun 33). • 35. Afro-Brazilian Self-Identity in Brazil Essay Over the past several decades there has been an increase, in Brazil, of people whom self identify as being black or Afro Brazilian. What sparked the rise in these identities in Brazil? Was it possible material and intellectual gains or, sparked from activism, or from other possible factors. The black movement and affirmation of black identity came about much later in Brazil than in other countries such as the United States. In my opinion the most important factors for the rise in these identities are the material gains from the Quilombo Clause, the effects of affirmative action and quotas, as well as social activism. One important reason for the increase in people identifying as black in Brazil is the Quilombo Clause in the 1988 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For this community many, who did not prior, began to identify as black in order to qualify for the Quilombo clause and get the material gain of land. Another factor that has led to the increase in people identifying as black is affirmative action and the quota system. In the early 2000s Brazilian government started to introduce affirmative action with a quota system. Quotas were added for university admissions, government jobs, film and media, among other things. Affirmative action policies also favored places that gave fair employment to blacks (Htun). The quota systems allow blacks to have more opportunities for jobs and other intellectual gains. These gains are an incentive for people, whom may not have prior, to begin to self identify as black in order to qualify for them. An example of the quota system in use are the students in Brazil deciding whether or not to apply for the university entrance exam under the quota system in the Wide Angle segment Brazil in Black and White . In this segment they follow five kids who are taking the entrance exam. Two of these kids decide to apply under the quota system (Wide Angle). One of these kids is a girl who is lighter skinned and even though she is lighter she is applying under the quota system because it would increase her chances of getting in. Both of the girls who decide to apply under the quota system do it because it increases their chances ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It gives the most unfair advantage in sports such as Increased leanness and muscle definition, Increased muscle mass, General weight gain, Increased strength, Increased effectiveness of training, Improved recovery rate Euphoria (feelings of positivity and confidence), and Increased aggressiveness. • 37. Descriptive Essay On Lynyrd Skynynd I have not been to many concerts in my life, so I did not know what to expect when I went to see Lynyrd Skynyrd in concert last month. A few years ago, I saw Celine Dion in concert and was very impressed by her beautiful stage, the infallible theatrics of her performers, and the wardrobe changes. I expected the Lynyrd Skynyrd concert to be similar, but it was nothing like that at all. Concerts can vary in considerable ways; everything from the stage set up, performance, and the audience can completely change the concert goers experience. The Celine Dion concert had a very elaborate stage with beautiful props and decorations. Each seemed to magically change to match every new song she sang. I was expecting a comparable lay out at the Lynyrd Skynyrd concert. Their concert, however, was just the opposite. While waiting for Lynyrd Skynyrd to perform, I noticed that the stage was sparse and unimpressive. The only thing that really caught my eye was a baby grand piano on the left side of the stage. The other items on stage were just typical musical instruments that you would expect to see at any rock concert. The only thing that changed throughout the concert was a cheap backdrop that would occasionally change to fit the song. As Celine came out on stage and started to perform her first song, everything was choreographed perfectly. Celine, her band, and her backup dancers, impeccably executed each song. The Las Vegas style influence on her show was undeniable. Obviously, she and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although the product itself is purchased from various producers across the United States and Mexico (Edgar, 2015), Sanfilippo s manufacturing site for its pecan products demonstrates a well informed decision making choice. As a seasonally based product capable of being stored for up to 5 years based on storage conditions, Sanfilippo could have realistically chosen any location within the US. After beginning its pecan location in a small store front in Chicago (Sanfilippo, 2012), the company expanded in 1991 to multiple locations strategic to the product produced. The Selma, Texas location used primarily to produce pecans supports storage of the in shell product in an environmentally stable geographic location (Sanfilippo, 2016). The small suburban community meets many of the most common location decision making criteria with low labor and transportation costs, energy costs, low union labor participation impacting labor and management costs (Kalantari, 2013). Sanfilippo Product Pricing When comparing a product to its competitors, it is desirable to use product cost and other comparative factors that may feed into its stability in the marketplace. • 42. Do Public Subsidies For Professional Athletic... Do public subsidies for professional athletic organizations benefit their local community? Sports teams, or professional athletic organization, are extremely important institutions within a city or region. They can help connect people with places, and through this loyalty, a sense of civic pride can be seen. Furthermore, the multi billion dollar industry sports produces effects that can impact individuals and communities. In recent years dozens of new sports stadiums have been built throughout the country, with major funding coming from public subsidies. The aim of this paper is to analyze the positive and negative impacts that come with these subsidies. The issue at hand, however, is that power has shifted from the cities to the teams themselves. Professional athletic organizations have started taking advantage of cities by threatening to relocate unless they get public subsidies for expensive stadium renovations and construction. With this in mind it is imperative to ask today s question: Do public subsidies for professional athletic organizations benefit their local community? The way I plan on conducting research is through a literary analysis, as I am a high school student with very few resources to gather large amounts of primary data. The types of literature that will be in this paper will include studies, meta analysis, news articles, and magazine articles. Everyone clapped, he bowed, and the judge gave him a one. Okay, maybe that last part didn t happen. Shortly thereafter, a servant came up to Simonides and told him that two young men on horseback had come to the door asking for him. He went outside and no one was there. He then turned around and the roof of the banquet hall had collapsed. When the bodies of the dead were recovered, they were so mangled that not even the victims families could figure out who was who. Simonides found, though, that he could picture the banquet hall in his mind s eye and remember the order in which the guests had been sitting. This allowed him to identify the dead and guide each person to their family members. What Simonides figured out at that moment, is as bad as we are at remembering names and phone numbers, we have profound ocular and spatial memories.
