The Role Of Music In My Life
Bono once said, Music can change the world because it can change people . Music has changed me
into the person I am today. I believe that music heals my life problems. I remember running around in
the Blockbuster video store my parents owned, always drawn to the music section. Although my
parents weren t heavily influenced by music, I branched out and discovered a whole new world. I
found myself getting my first MP3 player at age 7. Although The Jonas Brothers and High School
Musical were less influential in my life, it did expose my mind to music. In a more recent time, I find
the lyrics to songs very powerful and meaningful. Each song has a meaning, and every song I listen to
can relate to my life. I mostly listen to very sad songs, and although it sounds disheartening, it s what I
can relate to the most. There was a time in my life when I was very lonely and unhappy. I had no one
to relate to, except for when I found lyrics in a song. Music helped save my life, it was there even in
the darkest of days. Music then made me a much happier person. It was difficult to express my
feelings and emotions, but I felt that I finally wasn t alone. It helps me find myself and my happiness
every day. Every time I am in a bad mood, I just put on my headphones, listen to some of my favorite
voices, and tune out the rest of the world. At the end of the day, if no one else is there for me, I know
music is. The tune of a song is always something that I enjoy because it brings people

Designing A Whole New Ultra Poreux Cellulose Based Material
Recent years witnessed a momentum of consumers towards products biodegradable and designed
according to more environmentally friendly ways of the environment. On the other hand, the increase
in the price of oil and its scarcity helped bringing forward new products of natural origin. The
objective of this article which is part of this perspective is to prepare and characterize a whole new
ultra poreux cellulose based material, called aerogel.
Even if their discovery date of the beginning of the 1930s by Kristler, aerogels are considered at
present the most promising new materials in the field of thermal super insulation. Not happy to be the
subject of much research in this area, their high level of nanoporosite characteristic makes them
indispensable in the development of batteries to fuel. The multitude of organic, inorganic or hybrid
materials, and the appearance of new methods of preparation and extraction offer prospects for use in
filtering system, ultrafine dust capture...
Aerogels can be inorganic (silica based) or organic (example of resorcinol formaldehyde). They have a
very low thermal conductivity, and are often super insulation, but they are relatively fragile (silica
aerogel) or toxic (organic aerogels). A new avenue of research was recently conducted in the aim of
developing type aerogels materials bio sources and super insulation. Thus aerogels made from
cellulose or derivatives, or other polysaccharides were investigated (for example in the articles:

Student Diversity In Public Schools
Schools and classrooms of today contain an increasingly diverse population of students. As of 2012
percentage of white students in public schools has decreased from 59% to 51%. It is projected that by
2024 the percentage of white students will continue to decrease to 46% (National Center for
Educational Statistics, 2015). In 2013 the National Center for Educational Statistics has reported that
51% of the students in public schools were from low income families. In contrast, 1989 the percentage
of students from low income families was 32%. (NCES, 2015) The percentage of students with
disabilities in public schools has been around 13% for the last 10 years. (NCES, 2015) As a
superintendent I need to lead the district s staff and students to recognizing the diverse populations of
people interact with and teach on a daily basis. Another appropriate response to our increasing
diversity in public schools is to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2009 16.9% of teachers were a minority (NCES, 2015). This is obviously a significant gap between
student diversity and teacher diversity. This gap is not due to failing to recruit minority teachers
(Ingersoll May, 2011). As a superintendent I would create a strategic recruitment and retention plan.
Elements of the recruitment and retention plan will be partnerships with colleges and universities,
advertising, competitive salaries, career ladders for para professionals, alternative teacher certification
programs, creating district awareness and acceptance of diversity. Research shows that more than
salary, conditions that are most strongly related to minority teacher retention were collective faculty
decision making influence by staff and individual teacher classroom autonomy (Ingersoll May, 2011).
It is clear that high quality leadership is essential to recruit and retain high quality candidates

Aging Population In Australia Essay
There is no doubt that the ageing population is a subject which has attracted much attention of
Governments and communities in the world. Even in Australia, it is considered as one of the most
crucial challenges which will have to confront in the next 25 years ( Hugo, 2014). Population ageing is
defined as a change in the age structure of a country toward older ages. This is the repercussion of
many elements such as the declining fertility rate, baby boom period and advanced technology in
medical and healthcare extending longevity. While a number of studies have been done into proving
this trend having several negative effects, it can be argued that there are many beneficial impacts both
on national economy and society. This essay aims to look at the positive influences of older population
on the workforce, then the Australian Government Budget, and finally the community. Centers for
Disease Control and Preventation (2012) states that the maximum oxygen intake is reduced 30% when
aged over 65, therefore, the mature age employees may be slower as well as less productive than the
younger workers. However, it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Volunteering is undertaken in both organised and casual ways. Firstly, volunteering through
organizations. That provided $5.9 billion to Queensland s economy in 2004; $3.6 billion from the
activities of middle aged and older people. Australian Bureau Statistics (2007) also stated that
volunteer rates were higher among older people who donated money than those who did not (30%
compared with 17%). Secondly, volunteering through casual ways. de Vaus, D., Gray, M., Stanton, D.
(2003) said that Australians aged over 65 years contributed almost $39 billion per annum in unpaid
caring and voluntary work ( rising to $74.5 billion per year if those aged 55 to 64 years is included) .
Therefore, the unpaid work of older people as carers and volunteers saved a huge cost for the

Annotated Water
In this modern world, people need more efficient ways to grow food due to increased population. In an
effort to increase food production, scientists are testing novel methods of increasing plant growth. A
technology of interest is ozonated water. Ozonated water is infusing more oxygen into water. Infusing
oxygen into water is accomplished by using a machine called an ozonator which adds more oxygen
into water. The theory behind ozonated water is that ozonated water provides oxygen to the root of the
plant. Ozone improves the respiratory process [of the plant] at the cellular level, (Oz air.). Further
ozone makes a plant, free of virus, bacteria, fungi ... and other microorganisms, (Oz air.) Essentially,
ozone promotes fast and steady ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The data was organized into two different groups ozonated and control plants with the plants on both
greenhouses being numbered 1 12 as shown in fig 3.On the bottom of chart I did calculations for
averages, standard deviation and T test. As shown in Fig. 3 there are 4 zeros on the Ozonated and one
zero on control. This was a result of them being duds and not being able to work with them. Looking
at how the data in the fig. 5 you see that the control always seems to be one step ahead then the
ozonated radishes. Now if we remove the zeros it s a slightly different story. Looking at figure 4 we
see that the average for day 5 that the ozonated radishes has a higher plant average. This is only
because with the 4 zeros being removed the 1.1, 1.58, 1.9 all weigh down the average for the whole
chart. Also, I noticed that in figure 6 that the gap between the two has shrunken drastically. This is
because the four zeros wore down the ozonated bar down compared to only one zero in the control
group. Also looking at the t test it shows that most if not all the data was by chance so this experiment
may not be valid at

Qualitative Research In Broadcast Media
Research methods in media studies have proven to be essential assets in the process of analysis and
evaluation. There are many different approaches to researching broadcast media and each is as
effective as the next. There are some methods more suited to certain topics than others and it is
expected to know the most effective method for each topic to enhance the validity and reliability of
the research. In this essay I will be answering the question, How do we research broadcast media? I
will be evaluating and discussing some of these research methods and how essential a correct method
can prove to be in academic research in broadcast media.
The qualitative and quantitative approaches are two main methods in research. Qualitative research is
mainly based on description rather than on measurement, whereas quantitative research is mostly
based on measurement rather than description. Qualitative research is a method that usually gives
emphasis to words rather than quantification in the collection and analysis of data. As a research
strategy it is broadly inductivist, constructionist and interpretivist, but qualitative researchers do not
always subscribe to all three of these features. (Bryman, A 2012) p380
Quantitative research involves the collection of numerical data. It displays a view of the relationship
between theory and research as deductive and having an objectivist concept of social reality. The basic
concepts that characterise quantitative research

D.H.Lawrence Sons and Lovers
In Sons and Lovers, Paul is not really torn between Miriam and Clara but rather between his mother
and his father. Discuss.
Sons and Lovers is considered one of the greatest English novels of the twentieth century. Centred on
the lives of an English rural family, the novel explores issues relating to marriage, family,
industrialism, class and sexuality. While the first sections of the book focus on the early marriage of
Mr and Mrs. Morel, it is their second son Paul who comes to dominate the work. Shy, clever, sensual,
and in many ways mirroring D.H.Lawrence himself, Paul is an artist brought into the world as an
unwanted burden and by the end of the novel left meaningless and derelict. It is the interim, the life of
Paul, that makes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paul opts for the lower desires in choosing Clara. From the offset, it is clear that their relationship is
much more physical. Their raunchy outdoor adventures and visits to the park are in stark contrast to
Paul and Miriam s friendly walks in the wood. Furthermore, the corporeal descriptions and body
imagery Lawrence uses in detailing Paul and Clara together reflect the physical nature of their
relationship. We are told, He touched her. His whole body was quivering with the sensation (p.369)
and of his bodily tension he experiences when he is waiting for Monday to arrive so he can hold Clara.
The corporeal descriptions of shoulders, hands, ears, hair, and breasts amid kissing stand in contrast to
the descriptions we got of Miriam which were mostly limited to her eyes. While their relationship is
physical in a way Paul and Miriam s never was, it too is limited. In possessing the physical connection
Paul loses the spiritual one. His feeling for Mrs.Dawes...was shallow and temporal, compared with his
love for herself [Miriam] (p.337). The two did not have the same intimacy of soul. This is highlighted
by the fact that Clara does not have the same interest in his art; she does not understand it according to
Paul. Mrs. Morel gives an accurate depiction in saying She seems straight; you know not a bit deep,
not a bit . Paul is thus

Assess the Sociological Explanations of the Relationship...
Assess the sociological explanations of the relationship between globalisation and religion. 33 marks
Secularisation theory has argued that modernisation has undermined religion. The importance of
science and technology on economic development and rational worldview on which they depend on
are seen as destroying the belief in supernatural. However religion can contribute to development, but
most recently sociologists have examined what role religion may play in development in today s
globalising world. This can be seen in India. Globalisation has brought rapid economic growth and has
seen India become a more important player in the world political stage. It has brought prosperity to
some, notably the Indian middle class. Nanda shows ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nanda notes that the Indians success in the global market have attributed to Hindu values. These are
constantly promoted by media and politicians. Ultra nationalism, worshiping Hindu gods and India
itself has become a civil religion. In recent years the East Asia tiger economies such as Korea and
Singapore are now becoming industrialised. Also China has become a major global power.
Sociologists argue that this success is because of religion acting similar to Calvinism. Redding sees
their post Confucian values as encouraging, similar to the protestant work ethic. Similarly Berger
argues that Pentecostalism in Latin America acts as a functional equivalent to Weber s protestant ethic.
He says that they embrace the work ethic and lifestyle of Calvinists aspect of life which in result its
members continue to prosper. However Berger underlines Weber s point that religious ideas alone are
not enough to produce economic development. He says that natural resources are also needed. For
example while Protestantism has grown in northern Brazil, the religion lacks resources and remains
backwards. By contrast, the south, which is developing rapidly, has both a work ethic derived from
Pentecostalism and the necessary resources. Christianity has also become globalised. Lehmann says
that it has done this by accompanying globalisations, imposed my indigenous population and in the
past 100 years it has spread because of its popular following. The symbols and

Definition Essay On Happiness
Everyone in life has their own perspective of happiness, everyone has their own struggles and
obstacles that they go through . Individually, happiness does not include materialistic items because
they only last for the moment. Happiness is when you are content with yourself within and do not care
about others judging you for you. People in our society often think that having the finer things in life
and changing their appearance will help them cope with the flaws inside of themselves. Instead of
being satisfied with who they are and what they already have, they tend to go above and beyond their
means as an individual. This makes it harder to become lively because people are consistently trying
to find happiness outside of themselves when in

Hyperbole In The Things They Carried
Society s perception on war is often clouded by popular media. Action packed movies with fictional
war heroes, and video games set in past wars, are examples of such hyperbole. It is outlets like these
that raise society s expectations of soldiers into unrealistic ideas. While it may seem as black and
white as killing the bad guy, majority of the population does not consider the long term effects war
may have on soldiers. Most movies portray soldiers as emotionless killing machines and leave out the
lifelong psychological effects war can have on a person. Tim O Brien s book The Things They Carried
is a look into the mind of a soldier in the middle of war. In the book, we learn of First Lieutenant
Jimmy Cross, a soldier who is carrying the guilt

The Legalization Of Drugs And Drugs In The 21st Century
Drugs have always been a huge part of society and the 21st century is no exception. They have been
an integral part of many religions and cultures, they have been used for medical purposes and even for
recreational use. What many people don t know is that many of the drugs that are used today are many
times more potent than they were just 20 years ago. The Drug movement that is happening now will
affect the USA and other countries forever afterwards and the legalization of some drugs for
recreational use, including marijuana and alcohol, are all at the center of this war. Drugs have been
around for a lot longer then many would believe. Some of the first drugs to be used by mankind were
opioids as far back as 5000 bc by the Sumerians during religious rituals (Timeline). Since then drugs
have been used by almost every culture on the Earth. One of the first large scale drugs issues to have
happened in the past 500 years was in China with opium that was bought through the British traders.
The British started the war over Chinese produced teas The war disrupted the opium trade that Britain
had with China. Those addicted to opium in China had no where to get their drugs and many died
from the side effects of withdrawal from the drug. After a few hundred years the US began having its
own issues with tobacco, alcohol and many new drugs that were first used for medical purposes but
were quickly deemed harmful and addictive (Cannabis). First attempt to fix this was prohibition

Essay on The Failure of James Buchanan
In 1856, a Presidential election occurred in the United States at a crucial period. Sectionalism was at
an all time high and a leader was needed to unite the country. However, the man who won the election
did not prove to be this leader. Instead, his platform was based on a deliberate failure to lead. Due to
James Buchanan s position that supported popular sovereignty in the expanding United States, the
country divided even further over the topic of slavery to the point that the Civil War became
inevitable.
One of Buchanan s most significant failures came in regards to the Dred Scott case. Although he had
good intentions in how he wanted to handle this case, he did a terrible job. Phillip Auchampaugh
describes this by stating, His desire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the decision did not occur until two days after Buchanan s inaugural address, this address would
be a good place to look to discover how much Buchanan actually knew. In the address, he states, To
their decision, in common with all good citizens, I shall cheerfully submit (Buchanan Inaugural
Address ). Here, Buchanan shows that he is willing to abide by whatever decision the Supreme Court
comes to. However, it can be inferred that he knows what the outcome will be. He goes on to state,
though it has ever been my individual opinion that under the Nebraska Kansas act the appropriate
period will be when the number of actual residents in the Territory shall justify the formation of a
constitution with a view to its admission as a State into the Union (Buchanan Inaugural Address ).
Basically, he is revealing his opinion that the Kansas Nebraska act, or as he refers to it, the Nebraska
Kansas act, has already made this decision clear that popular sovereignty is what will govern the
territories instead of congressional jurisdiction. A President would not give their opinion on such an
important decision before it occurs unless they already knew what the outcome of the case was going
to be. So, through Buchanan s correspondence with Supreme Court Justices, his Inaugural address,
and desire to keep the Union together, it can be inferred that he knew the outcome of the Dred Scott
decision before it actually occurred. All this is irresponsible because a President Elect

Analysis Of The Movie The Woman Of Black
On the 31st of March we watched the Woman in Black at the Fortune theatre in London, as part of our
unit two assessment. The play is about Arthur Kipps who tells the gripping story of the terrible events
he survived when he encountered the woman in black. He learns about the death of Mrs Drablow and
travels to the town of Crythin Gifford. Here he meets many petrified faces, too scared to about the
woman in black. Through the story of Mr Kipps we learn that a woman named Jennet Humfrye had a
child unmarried and was forced to leave her child with her sister Mrs Drablow, years later Jennet plans
to run away with her son but before she able to, the tragic event of his death occurs. Due to the
unbearable grief Jennet suffers from a terrible wasting disease leading to her death. Instantly after her
death she returns as the Woman in Black and haunts the people of the town who are too afraid to speak
of her name. After hearing this story he leaves the town, many years later after getting married and
having a child he thinks he sees the woman in black again and on that day Mr Kipps wife Stella and
child die.

Hiv And The Immune System
What is HIV HIV , stands for human immunodeficiency virus, it is a virus that attacks the immune
system, the immune system protects the body against infection and illness .If the body does not have a
strong immune system, It may not be able fight off disease. The virus and the infection it causes are
termed HIV. White blood cells are the part of the immune system that is important as far as fighting
off infection. When a person catches HIV it infects and destroys certain white blood cells called CD4+
cells. If a lot of CD4+ cells are destroyed, the body can no longer fight off infection. When HIV
progresses to its last stage it is called AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). People with
AIDS have a very low number of CD4+ cells and get infections or cancers that do not commonly
occur in non infected people. These infections and cancers can be deadly because the immune system
is compromised. A common misconception that people have is that AIDS and HIV is the same thing.
Having HIV doesn t mean you have AIDS. Even if a patient is never treated for HIV, it still takes a
long time for HIV to turn into AIDS sometimes it can take up to 10 to 12 years for HIV to turn into
AIDS. When a patient is diagnosed with HIV there are medicines to slow the HIV virus to turning into
AIDS, medicines can slow or stop the disease from damaging the immune system. If AIDS does
develop there is still hope, medicines can help the immune system become healthy again. With

Watsons Theory of Caring
Watson s Theory of Human Caring The nursing profession has undergone a multitude of changes
throughout its long and storied history; the profession has transformed from a job typically taken by
women to care for sick members of their families into the science and art that it is today. Nursing
practice and education has used numerous theories over the years some written by nurses, some by
other professionals, and they differ in what the nature of nursing is or should be. In this paper I will
demonstrate how one such theory is taking the art and science of nursing back to its roots of caring for
people and not just treating diseases and disorders. By employing Dr. Watson s human caring theory I
will show why it is important to treat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The caring is actualized in the moment because of the choices and actions taken by the patient and
nurse, one serving as the caregiver, the other the recipient of care. During these moments how the
nurse chooses to act and portray him or herself will have a significant impact on the caring moment as
well as future caring moments in relation to the treatment outcomes (Alligood, 2008). Dr. Watson s
goals when creating her theory, correlated with the mental spiritual growth for self and others, finding
meaning in one s own existence and experiences, discovering inner power and control, and
potentiating instances of transcendence and self healing (Watson,2007). The theory also is unique in
that the change required to resolve the health issues does not include technology, medication,
physicians, or nurses the true agent of change is the patient experiencing a well balanced mind, body,
and soul. Employing Watson s theory in nursing is not always an easy task, many nurses today can
argue that they simply do not have the time required to develop a true caring moment. With more
hospitals demanding more of their nursing staff it becomes a daunting task to develop a genuine
caring moment. In applying Dr. Watson s theory to nursing practice the following is an account of a
caring moment that I have had and how Watson s theory and carative factors guided my actions and

Neuromancer And The Matrix Analysis
William Gibson s Neuromancer, and The Matrix by The Wachowskis both depict a society in which
humans are under constant manipulation by indispensable machines. In Neuromancer, the protagonist
Case is indirectly manipulated by a powerful Artificial Intelligence named Wintermute. In The Matrix,
majority of the human population lives within a computer simulated world, run by machines.
However, both storylines depict the fact that manipulation is more abundant than is often seen, as both
protagonists are more frequently under the influence of other humans. Neuromancer and The Matrix
both demonstrate the nature of manipulation, and explore the fact that individuals are oblivious to the
manipulation that they face.
Manipulation is ubiquitous. Throughout the movie, the Matrix is presented to the audience as the as
the only source of manipulation, What is the Matrix? Control (The Matrix). The perspective shown to
the audience implies that the robots are the only manipulative force present within this society.
Morpheus introduces Neo to the concept of the Matrix, by saying You are a slave, Neo (The Matrix)
and further explaining it as A prison for your mind (The Matrix). However, even once Neo has been
freed from the matrix, he remains susceptible. Neo is constantly being manipulated by both the Oracle

Deception And Deception In Much Ado About Nothing By...
In Shakespearean drama, a common motif is that of deception and disguise. There are two types of
deception: those that are benign and those that are pernicious. Benign trickery is a less serious form of
trickery. On the other hand, pernicious trickery is more serious and has lasting implications as a result.
In the play Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare, deception features prominently.
Examples of deception in the play include Benedick and Beatrice being tricked into believing they
love one another, everyone being tricked into believing Hero was dead, and Claudio and Don Pedro
being tricked into believing Hero was unfaithful to him, and they contribute to the development of the
play s important themes by highlighting Shakespeare s ideas and opinions that are expressed in the
play. Two important themes in this particular play are that not all trickery is evil and status in a society
is important, which are both highlighted through deception in this play. Shakespeare uses several
examples of deception in the play to develop the play s important themes. First of all, one example of
deception in the play is when Benedick is tricked into believing Beatrice loves him and Beatrice is
tricked into believing Benedick loves her. Claudio, Leonato, and the Prince have a conversation and
Hero and Margaret have another conversation in such manners that Benedick and Beatrice can
overhear them purposefully. In the conversation between Claudio, Leonato, and the Prince, Leonato

The Mistakes In The Tragedy Of Romeo And Juliet
In The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet evidence shows Romeo is responsible for the death of himself
and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet both knew getting into their relationship, things were going to be difficult
knowing that the families are enemies. When they got support from the Nurse and friar they both
decided to get married. Sneaking the marriage was going to be difficult enough, but the mistakes of
Romeo changed everything. First, Romeo and Juliet s relationship was very dishonest, going through
with the marriage. As a result of sneaking the marriage, Romeo made a huge mistake that changed

Ordinary People Reflection
In the book, Ordinary People, by Judith Guest, Conrad Jarrett undergoes different stages in life that
occur after his incident. Throughout these phases he sees a change in himself as a whole. The most
pivotal moment in his psychological and moral development transpires when Dr. Berger comes into
Conrad s life. Dr. Berger becomes his guiding principle that eventually leads him to progress in areas
he struggles in such as forgiveness, happiness, and acceptance. Through these developments Conrad is
able to remain to who he once was but continue to live on with life.
As a result of his visitations with Dr. Berger, Conrad learns to seek for forgiveness not only in his
family but especially in himself. Essentially, in his life he struggles to understand the concept of a
guiding principle, A belief of some kind. A bumper sticker, if you will (pg. 1). A guiding principle in
Conrad s life that really helped him to forgive others was Dr. Berger, he consistently pushes Conrad to
look at things from different perspectives and to release all the anger and guilt he feels inside. Notably,
Berger was there the night Conrad needed help, I need to see you, he whispers (pg. 219), in a moment
of disparity, Berger evaluates Conrad and concludes that he still feels at fault for practically everything
that happened in his life. At his lowest moments, any time that Conrad spends with Berger he begins
to realize that he will only find growth in himself once he stops putting the blame on anyone

Underage Teenage Drinking
Drinking and Driving and Underage Drinking Why do teenagers choose to drink? This question is
ever present in the minds of parents and caregivers. Teenagers who drink do not comprehend the
widespread and longterm effects of their actions. Consuming alcohol is very harmful to the teenager,
friends, family, and even strangers. Nearly ten million young people ages twelve to twenty reported
consuming alcohol in the past thirty days, with consumed being defined as more than a couple sips (

very big mistake to abuse alcohol. Abusing alcohol can lead to alcohol poisoning which can result

( Teenage Drinking ). A person who drinks too much alcohol is more likely to commit violent crimes
such as assault, sexual assault, homicides, or even suicide ( Teenage Drinking ). Teenagers are usually
heavy drinkers because they usually take drinking lightly. Underage persons do not drink as often as
adults, but when underage drinkers drink, they drink a whole lot more at one time ( Teenage Drinking

too much alcohol in a short amount of time. This usually means five or six beers in only an hour or

REVIEW OF THE PROFILE OF CREATIVE ABILITIES
There are differences between Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family
Therapist. Testing is a large factor in accurately assessing the full scope of the assistance a client may

be a better fit. In considering the tests that exist, one sample population LMFT s are likely to work

DEVELOPMENT. Growth and development of the PCA was led by Guilford s (1959) structure of
intellect model and Amabile s (1996) theorizing on creativeness. The rating scale also rates intrinsic
motivation.
TECHNICAL. The PCA was normed on the sample of 640 children across 11 states. The sample was
stratified by three age times (5 to eight 11 9 to 11 11 12 to 14 11).
The exam manual states the standardization sample carefully approximates the U.S. population. The
sample does seem to carefully match the U.S. Census when it comes to geographic region, race and
Hispanic ethnicity, and parent education level. However, the standardization sample doesn t carefully
match the U.S. Census when it comes to gender (e.g., 46% from the standardization sample are male
whereas 51% from the U.S. school age human population are male), and family earnings (30% from
the sample possess a family earnings of $75,000 and also over whereas 19% of U.S. families come
with an earnings within this upper range).
Evidence meant for construct validity was supplied by study of group differentiation across different
cohorts. The creativity class weren t given the PCA pre intervention, so it s impossible to understand if
the test was calculating alterations in creative abilities or reflecting latent group variations in addition
to the intervention. Further, it s unclear from the theoretical perspective, and never

Conformity In 12 Angry Men
Can a minority influence the beliefs within a group setting? The 1957 movie, 12 Angry Men is a great
example of the minority influence process, the one change the beliefs of the other eleven. 12 Angry
Men is a jury group that decides if the defendant is guilty or not guilty of murder and sending the
defendant to the Electric Chair. During deliberation, prejudice, persuasion, conformity and cognitive
heuristics, all played a role in the interaction of the group and the final decision to equate the
defendant.
Persuasion
Henry Fonda, plays the role of juror number eight, who from the beginning keeps his conviction that
the defendant is not guilty due to reasonable doubt. Fonda uses arguments and reasoning to convince
the other jurors to deliver a not guilty verdict. For each witness testimony, Fonda was able to raise
doubt, like the L train causing enough noise that the elderly neighbor would be unable to hear the
father and son argue. As more jurors, changed their verdict to not guilty, they took on the role as
persuader, for example, juror number nine placed doubt on the female neighbor to be able to see the
murder because of it was doubtful she was wearing her glasses. One by one, Fonda was able to
convince the others to admit there was reasonable doubt.
Conformity
Conformity or socially acceptable behavior (Kassin, Fein, Markus, 2014), was also evident in the
movie. Juror number seven continuously chose the majority s verdict, not going against the larger

Introduction
Wireless Networks can be broadly classified into three categories: Infrastructure based networks,
Wireless LANs and Ad Hoc Networks. Infrastructure based networks are traditional cellular systems
which requires base station infrastructure. Wireless LANs are very flexible within the reception area.
It requires low bandwidth when compared to wired networks. Ad Hoc networks is useful when the
infrastructure is not available, impractical or expensive to build.
In Cellular Wireless, spaces are divided into cells. Each cell consists of base station which is
responsible to communicate with the hosts in its cell. Hosts moves from one cell to cell to another and
hand off occurs, the new base station takes care of the communication. In Multi hop wireless, mobility
causes change of route. Hence it need to traverse multiple links to reach destination. Ad hoc network
is a self organizing multi hop wireless network which relies neither on infrastructure nor on the
predetermined connectivity.
Rapid deployment of independent mobile users will be the need of the next generation wireless
communication systems. A mobile ad hoc network is an autonomous collection of mobile users that
communicate over relatively bandwidth constrained wireless links. Network scenarios which include
establishing survivable, efficient, dynamic communication for emergency/rescue operations, disaster
relief efforts, and military networks cannot

Climate Change Is The Single Greatest Threat Facing Our...
[Abstract: Climate change is the single greatest threat facing our planet. Senator Bernie Sanders,
Democratic Party nomination seekers in the US presidential election 2016, repeatedly urges in his
campaign: climate change is real, it is caused by human activity, and it is already causing devastating
harm here in the United States and to people all around the world. Nonetheless but humans are liable
to climate change, and are also affected by it with others. This article will focus on our collective and
individual moral obligations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as well as our moral obligations to
climate change affected poorer countries in order to argue that we have a moral obligation as a whole.
The United States, the wealthiest country in the world, contributes far more than its share of
greenhouse gases. It is now clear that these emissions have caused serious risks to the world as a
whole, particularly the poorest nations. In response to the question Does an US individual has a moral
obligation to impose reasonable curbs on its future greenhouse gas emissions? Armstrong and Johnson
have advanced a novel and sophisticated argument for the right of individuals to remain stable in their
personal emissions. We believe that the general shape of their position is attractive since it (i) grants
the individual the right to emit without suggesting that any and all restrictions are permissible; (ii)
distinguishes between the relative strength of collective moral

Crews from the ships would be held captive and tortured for years and months on end. The United

set off on the USS George Washington to Algerines and Tripoli to settle things. A man by the name of
Thomas Jefferson was inaugurated as president in the year of 1801 and not long after he would send
warships to Tripoli and confront the pirates face to face for their doings. This caused a blockade so no
pirates would be able to attack the merchant ships. What this action would do was not what Jefferson
thought would happen but as an outcome an all out war broke loose between Jefferson s army and the
Tripoli pirates and their allies. The war would go on and on off the coast. The blockade only held for
so long. Finally the pirates would make their way through and ships started to come up on shore. The
USS Philadelphia hit shore in Tripoli s harbor and the pirates captured it. A young navy member then
snuck onto the ship and set it on fire during an enemy gun fire, destroying any goods the pirates could
get their hands on or even stop them from rebuilding the ship and turning it against the United States
Navy. The war would continue for a while until finally peace agreements were made and the U.S
Navy fled the scene. This whole action by Jefferson showed braveness in not only him but the U.S

De Beers Diamonds Essay

De Beers Diamonds
Corrin Wigren
10/10/11
Situation: The De Beers name has always been synonymous with diamonds due largely impart to the
fact that in order for anyone to deal in the diamond business, at some point they will have to deal with
at least one of our subsidiary companies, retailers or distributors. De Beers owns 43% of the worlds
market shares of rough diamonds, but this is way down from the 80% we were at in the 80 s. The
diamond demand is at the mercy of an extremely volatile market which is largely based off of the
consumer s disposable income and with the current recession and cutbacks in consumer spending, it is
important that we find a way to maintain a competitive hold on the market.

The third solution is to begin cultivating and competing in the Synthetic Diamond market. Synthetic
diamonds are flawless, have no correlation in the public mind with conflict diamonds , they are easy to
make and if manufactured for abrasive wheels, they can be grown in a few days in a lab. However the
technology to grow a diamond big enough to be used for polished jewelry still is not quite there. The
procedures and equipment are not yet time or cost effective. In order to enter the jewelry market with
the right synthetics would cost the average consumer too much.
Decision: We have decided to penetrate the emerging markets of China and India with a new line of
luxury diamonds created with a special serial number and inscriptions bearing the name of the special
promotional line that they will be a part of and the De Beers logo. To restructure ourselves as a private
type luxury brand retailer in the Chinese and Indian markets, we expect to harvest new growth
opportunities and profit potential. Synthetic diamond creation is fine for small sizes to be marketed as
saw blades and abrasive wheels but that sector represents only a small percentage of the need for
diamond production. The cost is too high to manufacture a larger size diamond for the jewelry
consumer. To continue on the path that we are on is not a valid option because the market, the demand
and the consumer are all changing with the times. To stay stagnant against

Edward Jenner and the Cowpox Vaccine
Most parents trust their pediatrician or family doctor more than anyone when it comes to the health of
their child. However, many parents are beginning to question their doctor s advice when it comes to
vaccinating their children. After countless accusations of harmful effects of childhood vaccinations,
some parents have decided to stop having their child vaccinated, putting not only their child, but the
entire human population in danger.
In 1796, Edward Jenner created a vaccine developed from the cowpox virus. He then gave this
vaccine to a 13 year old boy who was suffering from smallpox. The boy became immune to the
smallpox disease and Jenner was named the founding father of vaccinations. After his discovery,
vaccines were later created for Cholera, Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis, and Polio ( A Brief History ).
Vaccines were developed in order to trick the body into making antibodies ( Understanding ). Using
germs that are similar, but not harmful, to the disease a vaccine is trying to prevent, vaccines are able
to mimic body responses by creating memory in the T and B helper cells that can help the body fight
diseases before one develops symptoms of the illness ( Vaccines and Your Health ). The government
supports and enforces vaccine use because it can take weeks for the body to naturally create enough
antibodies to fight diseases, and therefore, it is dangerous to rely only on natural immunity (
Understanding ).

There are a lot of times in country music that there is a bass, guitar, singer, piano, and drums. That is
what our band is. The bass and the drums are for keeping the beat and sounding good. The piano and
the guitar are usually leading and if one is then the other is the background. And of course the singer is
the lead singer. Especially in country music, sometimes there are more than one singer and there is a
background singer.
Busking is like showbiz that is the same as an entry level job. If you perform well enough someone
could discover you and you could join the ranks of famous performers. First you have to find a good
place where people walk by or drive, then you can tell people about it and that will get some to come,
and you have to pick a good time to go. If you go when everyone is in school and at work you won t

you. I learned piano, learned how to play On the Road Again . I had some trouble singing and playing
piano but it all worked out I learned that if you want to get better you need to practice and push
yourself. You will not get anywhere if you stay in the same place.
There are lots of ways that music can impact people s lives. Our project told us to impact the

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Migraines
Migraines are debilitating conditions that impinge on the lives of between 12 and 24 million
Americans, and remain grossly under diagnosed. World Health Organization has ranked migraine in
2010 Global Burden Survey as 3rd most prevalent disorder and the 7th highest cause of disability
worldwide (Singh 255). Individuals suffering from migraines typically cannot participate in normal
daily activities such as school, work, or social occasions due to pain. With an onset of a migraine,
people often retreat to a quiet and dark room until the migraine subsides. Individuals experiencing
numerous and frequent migraines are often confined to these spaces. This correlates to people
developing other illness such as depression and anxiety. They are ... Show more content on

Migraines are linked to heredity.
Anatomically speaking, what is taking place during a migraine? A common headache is caused by the
cranial blood vessels narrowing, while migraine pain is due to the expansion of those blood vessels.
During a migraine, the tissue surrounding the brain is swollen, causing intense pain. Migraines are
caused by a progression of several things: pain sensing cells in your brain stem pick up on this change
in your routine and release a chemical; this chemical attacks other pain sensing cells nearby, making
them more sensitive to pain. They also release neuropeptides; some of these chemicals begin to work
on the muscles surrounding the blood vessels near the surface of your brain. Those muscles relax,
making the blood vessels dilate and causing more blood to flow. This is where doctors think the aura
in a classic migraine comes from. Some of the neuropeptide chemicals cause the cranial vessels to
begin leaking, making the tissue around the area swell. Research now shows that the combination of
these factors; increased sensitivity, swelling brain tissues and swelling of blood vessels, is the cause of
migraines (Pocock 2). For the people afflicted with this disease, it is essential to comprehend what is
anatomically and physiologically occurring during a migraine episode. There are four possible phases
to a migraine attack: prodrome, aura, headache, and postdrome. In the initial phase: prodrome, it is
often referred to as the

Skateboard Research Papers
It was 2009 and I was 8 years old. I was walking towards Rosa Parks circle downtown with my mom,
sister, and little brother. I looked over to my right and saw some guys skateboarding. I saw a guy so a
kick flip off of the pavement and I thought it was pretty cool. I stopped and looked at him in awe. That
s when I knew I wanted to skateboard. Later on that day, I asked my mom if I could buy a skateboard.
Thankfully, she said yes so I went to a person that knew more about skateboards than I did, my best
friend Jordan. I went to him for help figuring out what type of skateboard I would need to get. He
knew the board I would need to get and it was a normal skateboard but from a real skateboard shop.
So I ordered a BLIND brand skateboard from the

  • 2. The Role Of Music In My Life Bono once said, Music can change the world because it can change people . Music has changed me into the person I am today. I believe that music heals my life problems. I remember running around in the Blockbuster video store my parents owned, always drawn to the music section. Although my parents weren t heavily influenced by music, I branched out and discovered a whole new world. I found myself getting my first MP3 player at age 7. Although The Jonas Brothers and High School Musical were less influential in my life, it did expose my mind to music. In a more recent time, I find the lyrics to songs very powerful and meaningful. Each song has a meaning, and every song I listen to can relate to my life. I mostly listen to very sad songs, and although it sounds disheartening, it s what I can relate to the most. There was a time in my life when I was very lonely and unhappy. I had no one to relate to, except for when I found lyrics in a song. Music helped save my life, it was there even in the darkest of days. Music then made me a much happier person. It was difficult to express my feelings and emotions, but I felt that I finally wasn t alone. It helps me find myself and my happiness every day. Every time I am in a bad mood, I just put on my headphones, listen to some of my favorite voices, and tune out the rest of the world. At the end of the day, if no one else is there for me, I know music is. The tune of a song is always something that I enjoy because it brings people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Designing A Whole New Ultra Poreux Cellulose Based Material Recent years witnessed a momentum of consumers towards products biodegradable and designed according to more environmentally friendly ways of the environment. On the other hand, the increase in the price of oil and its scarcity helped bringing forward new products of natural origin. The objective of this article which is part of this perspective is to prepare and characterize a whole new ultra poreux cellulose based material, called aerogel. Even if their discovery date of the beginning of the 1930s by Kristler, aerogels are considered at present the most promising new materials in the field of thermal super insulation. Not happy to be the subject of much research in this area, their high level of nanoporosite characteristic makes them indispensable in the development of batteries to fuel. The multitude of organic, inorganic or hybrid materials, and the appearance of new methods of preparation and extraction offer prospects for use in filtering system, ultrafine dust capture... Aerogels can be inorganic (silica based) or organic (example of resorcinol formaldehyde). They have a very low thermal conductivity, and are often super insulation, but they are relatively fragile (silica aerogel) or toxic (organic aerogels). A new avenue of research was recently conducted in the aim of developing type aerogels materials bio sources and super insulation. Thus aerogels made from cellulose or derivatives, or other polysaccharides were investigated (for example in the articles: Fischer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Student Diversity In Public Schools Schools and classrooms of today contain an increasingly diverse population of students. As of 2012 percentage of white students in public schools has decreased from 59% to 51%. It is projected that by 2024 the percentage of white students will continue to decrease to 46% (National Center for Educational Statistics, 2015). In 2013 the National Center for Educational Statistics has reported that 51% of the students in public schools were from low income families. In contrast, 1989 the percentage of students from low income families was 32%. (NCES, 2015) The percentage of students with disabilities in public schools has been around 13% for the last 10 years. (NCES, 2015) As a superintendent I need to lead the district s staff and students to recognizing the diverse populations of people interact with and teach on a daily basis. Another appropriate response to our increasing diversity in public schools is to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 2009 16.9% of teachers were a minority (NCES, 2015). This is obviously a significant gap between student diversity and teacher diversity. This gap is not due to failing to recruit minority teachers (Ingersoll May, 2011). As a superintendent I would create a strategic recruitment and retention plan. Elements of the recruitment and retention plan will be partnerships with colleges and universities, advertising, competitive salaries, career ladders for para professionals, alternative teacher certification programs, creating district awareness and acceptance of diversity. Research shows that more than salary, conditions that are most strongly related to minority teacher retention were collective faculty decision making influence by staff and individual teacher classroom autonomy (Ingersoll May, 2011). It is clear that high quality leadership is essential to recruit and retain high quality candidates including diverse ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Aging Population In Australia Essay There is no doubt that the ageing population is a subject which has attracted much attention of Governments and communities in the world. Even in Australia, it is considered as one of the most crucial challenges which will have to confront in the next 25 years ( Hugo, 2014). Population ageing is defined as a change in the age structure of a country toward older ages. This is the repercussion of many elements such as the declining fertility rate, baby boom period and advanced technology in medical and healthcare extending longevity. While a number of studies have been done into proving this trend having several negative effects, it can be argued that there are many beneficial impacts both on national economy and society. This essay aims to look at the positive influences of older population on the workforce, then the Australian Government Budget, and finally the community. Centers for Disease Control and Preventation (2012) states that the maximum oxygen intake is reduced 30% when aged over 65, therefore, the mature age employees may be slower as well as less productive than the younger workers. Secondly, volunteering through casual ways. de Vaus, D., Gray, M., Stanton, D. In an effort to increase food production, scientists are testing novel methods of increasing plant growth. A technology of interest is ozonated water. Ozonated water is infusing more oxygen into water. Infusing oxygen into water is accomplished by using a machine called an ozonator which adds more oxygen into water. The theory behind ozonated water is that ozonated water provides oxygen to the root of the plant. Ozone improves the respiratory process [of the plant] at the cellular level, (Oz air.). Further ozone makes a plant, free of virus, bacteria, fungi ... and other microorganisms, (Oz air.) Essentially, ozone promotes fast and steady ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As shown in Fig. 3 there are 4 zeros on the Ozonated and one zero on control. This was a result of them being duds and not being able to work with them. Looking at how the data in the fig. 5 you see that the control always seems to be one step ahead then the ozonated radishes. Now if we remove the zeros it s a slightly different story. Looking at figure 4 we see that the average for day 5 that the ozonated radishes has a higher plant average. This is only because with the 4 zeros being removed the 1.1, 1.58, 1.9 all weigh down the average for the whole chart. Also, I noticed that in figure 6 that the gap between the two has shrunken drastically. This is because the four zeros wore down the ozonated bar down compared to only one zero in the control group. Also looking at the t test it shows that most if not all the data was by chance so this experiment may not be valid at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Qualitative Research In Broadcast Media Research methods in media studies have proven to be essential assets in the process of analysis and evaluation. There are many different approaches to researching broadcast media and each is as effective as the next. There are some methods more suited to certain topics than others and it is expected to know the most effective method for each topic to enhance the validity and reliability of the research. In this essay I will be answering the question, How do we research broadcast media? I will be evaluating and discussing some of these research methods and how essential a correct method can prove to be in academic research in broadcast media. The qualitative and quantitative approaches are two main methods in research. Qualitative research is mainly based on description rather than on measurement, whereas quantitative research is mostly based on measurement rather than description. Qualitative research is a method that usually gives emphasis to words rather than quantification in the collection and analysis of data. As a research strategy it is broadly inductivist, constructionist and interpretivist, but qualitative researchers do not always subscribe to all three of these features. (Bryman, A 2012) p380 Quantitative research involves the collection of numerical data. It displays a view of the relationship between theory and research as deductive and having an objectivist concept of social reality. The basic concepts that characterise quantitative research ... Sons and Lovers is considered one of the greatest English novels of the twentieth century. While the first sections of the book focus on the early marriage of Mr and Mrs. Morel, it is their second son Paul who comes to dominate the work. From the offset, it is clear that their relationship is much more physical. Their raunchy outdoor adventures and visits to the park are in stark contrast to Paul and Miriam s friendly walks in the wood. Furthermore, the corporeal descriptions and body imagery Lawrence uses in detailing Paul and Clara together reflect the physical nature of their relationship. We are told, He touched her. His whole body was quivering with the sensation (p.369) and of his bodily tension he experiences when he is waiting for Monday to arrive so he can hold Clara. The corporeal descriptions of shoulders, hands, ears, hair, and breasts amid kissing stand in contrast to the descriptions we got of Miriam which were mostly limited to her eyes. While their relationship is physical in a way Paul and Miriam s never was, it too is limited. In possessing the physical connection Paul loses the spiritual one. His feeling for Mrs.Dawes...was shallow and temporal, compared with his love for herself [Miriam] (p.337). The two did not have the same intimacy of soul. Assess the sociological explanations of the relationship between globalisation and religion. 33 marks Secularisation theory has argued that modernisation has undermined religion. However religion can contribute to development, but most recently sociologists have examined what role religion may play in development in today s globalising world. This can be seen in India. These are constantly promoted by media and politicians. Ultra nationalism, worshiping Hindu gods and India itself has become a civil religion. In recent years the East Asia tiger economies such as Korea and Singapore are now becoming industrialised. Also China has become a major global power. Sociologists argue that this success is because of religion acting similar to Calvinism. Redding sees their post Confucian values as encouraging, similar to the protestant work ethic. Similarly Berger argues that Pentecostalism in Latin America acts as a functional equivalent to Weber s protestant ethic. He says that they embrace the work ethic and lifestyle of Calvinists aspect of life which in result its members continue to prosper. However Berger underlines Weber s point that religious ideas alone are not enough to produce economic development. He says that natural resources are also needed. For example while Protestantism has grown in northern Brazil, the religion lacks resources and remains backwards. By contrast, the south, which is developing rapidly, has both a work ethic derived from Pentecostalism and the necessary resources. Christianity has also become globalised. Sectionalism was at an all time high and a leader was needed to unite the country. However, the man who won the election did not prove to be this leader. Instead, his platform was based on a deliberate failure to lead. Due to James Buchanan s position that supported popular sovereignty in the expanding United States, the country divided even further over the topic of slavery to the point that the Civil War became inevitable. Here, Buchanan shows that he is willing to abide by whatever decision the Supreme Court comes to. However, it can be inferred that he knows what the outcome will be. Hiv And The Immune System What is HIV HIV , stands for human immunodeficiency virus, it is a virus that attacks the immune system, the immune system protects the body against infection and illness .If the body does not have a strong immune system, It may not be able fight off disease. The virus and the infection it causes are termed HIV. White blood cells are the part of the immune system that is important as far as fighting off infection. When a person catches HIV it infects and destroys certain white blood cells called CD4+ cells. If a lot of CD4+ cells are destroyed, the body can no longer fight off infection. When HIV progresses to its last stage it is called AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). People with AIDS have a very low number of CD4+ cells and get infections or cancers that do not commonly occur in non infected people. These infections and cancers can be deadly because the immune system is compromised. A common misconception that people have is that AIDS and HIV is the same thing. Having HIV doesn t mean you have AIDS. Even if a patient is never treated for HIV, it still takes a long time for HIV to turn into AIDS sometimes it can take up to 10 to 12 years for HIV to turn into AIDS. Watsons Theory of Caring Watson s Theory of Human Caring The nursing profession has undergone a multitude of changes throughout its long and storied history; the profession has transformed from a job typically taken by women to care for sick members of their families into the science and art that it is today. Nursing practice and education has used numerous theories over the years some written by nurses, some by other professionals, and they differ in what the nature of nursing is or should be. In this paper I will demonstrate how one such theory is taking the art and science of nursing back to its roots of caring for people and not just treating diseases and disorders. The caring is actualized in the moment because of the choices and actions taken by the patient and nurse, one serving as the caregiver, the other the recipient of care. During these moments how the nurse chooses to act and portray him or herself will have a significant impact on the caring moment as well as future caring moments in relation to the treatment outcomes (Alligood, 2008). Dr. Watson s goals when creating her theory, correlated with the mental spiritual growth for self and others, finding meaning in one s own existence and experiences, discovering inner power and control, and potentiating instances of transcendence and self healing (Watson,2007). The theory also is unique in that the change required to resolve the health issues does not include technology, medication, physicians, or nurses the true agent of change is the patient experiencing a well balanced mind, body, and soul. Employing Watson s theory in nursing is not always an easy task, many nurses today can argue that they simply do not have the time required to develop a true caring moment. With more hospitals demanding more of their nursing staff it becomes a daunting task to develop a genuine caring moment. • 21. Deception And Deception In Much Ado About Nothing By... In Shakespearean drama, a common motif is that of deception and disguise. There are two types of deception: those that are benign and those that are pernicious. Benign trickery is a less serious form of trickery. On the other hand, pernicious trickery is more serious and has lasting implications as a result. In the play Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare, deception features prominently. Examples of deception in the play include Benedick and Beatrice being tricked into believing they love one another, everyone being tricked into believing Hero was dead, and Claudio and Don Pedro being tricked into believing Hero was unfaithful to him, and they contribute to the development of the play s important themes by highlighting Shakespeare s ideas and opinions that are expressed in the play. Two important themes in this particular play are that not all trickery is evil and status in a society is important, which are both highlighted through deception in this play. Shakespeare uses several examples of deception in the play to develop the play s important themes. First of all, one example of deception in the play is when Benedick is tricked into believing Beatrice loves him and Beatrice is tricked into believing Benedick loves her. Infrastructure based networks are traditional cellular systems which requires base station infrastructure. Wireless LANs are very flexible within the reception area. It requires low bandwidth when compared to wired networks. Ad Hoc networks is useful when the infrastructure is not available, impractical or expensive to build. In Cellular Wireless, spaces are divided into cells. Each cell consists of base station which is responsible to communicate with the hosts in its cell. The United States, the wealthiest country in the world, contributes far more than its share of greenhouse gases. It is now clear that these emissions have caused serious risks to the world as a whole, particularly the poorest nations. Research shows that since Mitch Landrieu took office in 2010, funding for construction projects increase with Lower Ninth Ward first on its list. The funding was as follows: $60 million for street repairs, $50 million for rebuilding schools and $14.5 million for a new community center. As of 2012 there was little sign of new construction for this neighborhood (Parker, 2012). However, there is evidence that more families are returning, moving in, and people are taking pride in the community. This is evident in the increase of Community Gardens, small number of bilged homes removal, rebuilding of family homes, and a small number ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The United States tried their hardest to keep the peace in line but nothing was working. So the United States army set off on the USS George Washington to Algerines and Tripoli to settle things. A man by the name of Thomas Jefferson was inaugurated as president in the year of 1801 and not long after he would send warships to Tripoli and confront the pirates face to face for their doings. This caused a blockade so no pirates would be able to attack the merchant ships. What this action would do was not what Jefferson thought would happen but as an outcome an all out war broke loose between Jefferson s army and the Tripoli pirates and their allies. The war would go on and on off the coast. The blockade only held for so long. Finally the pirates would make their way through and ships started to come up on shore. The USS Philadelphia hit shore in Tripoli s harbor and the pirates captured it. De Beers Diamonds Essay POV ANALYSIS #1 De Beers Diamonds Corrin Wigren 10/10/11 Situation: The De Beers name has always been synonymous with diamonds due largely impart to the fact that in order for anyone to deal in the diamond business, at some point they will have to deal with at least one of our subsidiary companies, retailers or distributors. De Beers owns 43% of the worlds market shares of rough diamonds, but this is way down from the 80% we were at in the 80 s. The diamond demand is at the mercy of an extremely volatile market which is largely based off of the consumer s disposable income and with the current recession and cutbacks in consumer spending, it is important that we find a way to maintain a competitive hold on the market. SWOT ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The third solution is to begin cultivating and competing in the Synthetic Diamond market. Synthetic diamonds are flawless, have no correlation in the public mind with conflict diamonds , they are easy to make and if manufactured for abrasive wheels, they can be grown in a few days in a lab. However the technology to grow a diamond big enough to be used for polished jewelry still is not quite there. The procedures and equipment are not yet time or cost effective. In order to enter the jewelry market with the right synthetics would cost the average consumer too much. Decision: We have decided to penetrate the emerging markets of China and India with a new line of luxury diamonds created with a special serial number and inscriptions bearing the name of the special promotional line that they will be a part of and the De Beers logo. To restructure ourselves as a private type luxury brand retailer in the Chinese and Indian markets, we expect to harvest new growth opportunities and profit potential. Synthetic diamond creation is fine for small sizes to be marketed as saw blades and abrasive wheels but that sector represents only a small percentage of the need for diamond production. The cost is too high to manufacture a larger size diamond for the jewelry consumer. To continue on the path that we are on is not a valid option because the market, the demand and the consumer are all changing with the times. To stay stagnant against ... • 37. Edward Jenner and the Cowpox Vaccine Most parents trust their pediatrician or family doctor more than anyone when it comes to the health of their child. However, many parents are beginning to question their doctor s advice when it comes to vaccinating their children. After countless accusations of harmful effects of childhood vaccinations, some parents have decided to stop having their child vaccinated, putting not only their child, but the entire human population in danger. In 1796, Edward Jenner created a vaccine developed from the cowpox virus. He then gave this vaccine to a 13 year old boy who was suffering from smallpox. The boy became immune to the smallpox disease and Jenner was named the founding father of vaccinations. After his discovery, vaccines were later created for Cholera, Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis, and Polio ( A Brief History ). Vaccines were developed in order to trick the body into making antibodies ( Understanding ). Using germs that are similar, but not harmful, to the disease a vaccine is trying to prevent, vaccines are able to mimic body responses by creating memory in the T and B helper cells that can help the body fight diseases before one develops symptoms of the illness ( Vaccines and Your Health ). The government supports and enforces vaccine use because it can take weeks for the body to naturally create enough antibodies to fight diseases, and therefore, it is dangerous to rely only on natural immunity ( Understanding ). Anatomically speaking, what is taking place during a migraine? A common headache is caused by the cranial blood vessels narrowing, while migraine pain is due to the expansion of those blood vessels. During a migraine, the tissue surrounding the brain is swollen, causing intense pain. Migraines are caused by a progression of several things: pain sensing cells in your brain stem pick up on this change in your routine and release a chemical; this chemical attacks other pain sensing cells nearby, making them more sensitive to pain. They also release neuropeptides; some of these chemicals begin to work on the muscles surrounding the blood vessels near the surface of your brain. Those muscles relax, making the blood vessels dilate and causing more blood to flow. This is where doctors think the aura in a classic migraine comes from. Some of the neuropeptide chemicals cause the cranial vessels to begin leaking, making the tissue around the area swell. Research now shows that the combination of these factors; increased sensitivity, swelling brain tissues and swelling of blood vessels, is the cause of migraines (Pocock 2). For the people afflicted with this disease, it is essential to comprehend what is anatomically and physiologically occurring during a migraine episode. There are four possible phases to a migraine attack: prodrome, aura, headache, and postdrome. In the initial phase: prodrome, it is often referred to as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
