Mexican Descent In America
The United States of America has long been known as an immigrant s country. It is a melting pot of all
different races, ethnicities, and nationalities. However, the time elapsed between the foundation of
America and now has led to the development of the American identity. American nationalism has
changed the scope and parameters of who is truly American, and who is welcomed in America. The
United States is no longer a country of immigrants, it is a country filled with citizens of diverse
heritage, but they all identify as an American. This poses a problem for those who still wish to
immigrate to America. It is still described as a place where there is a possibility of an American
Dream, and where anyone can become anything.
The 2016 American Community Survey (ACS) measured immigrants to make up 13.5 percent of the
US population, or approximately 43.3 million people nationally (Zong Batalova 2017). Americans
perceive the typical immigrant in America to be of Mexican descent, and there is truth to these
assumptions. Of the 43.3 million immigrants, those of Mexican descent make up 27 percent of the
total number of immigrants in America (Zong Batalova 2017). This makes them the highest number of

In January 2017, Donald J. Trump was sworn in as the 45th President of the United States. President
Trump has spoken of immigrants, particularly from Mexico, in a highly negative light, characterizing
them as criminals. He has proclaimed Mexican immigrants are drug dealers and rapists (Reilly 2016).
Whether these claims carry truth or not, when the leader of the free world has publically described a
certain subset of people as criminals, a negative connotation of that particular group is commonly
created. It is important to understand how this negative connotation of Mexican immigrants affects
this population in order to understand the consequences of

Technological Advances In Australia Essay
Over the past century we have seen a number of technological achievements that have improved the
living standards in Australia. With inventions ranging from the television to the affordable car, all
these achievements have come together to make the modern country Australia which many call the
lucky country . There are three main technological advancements that were pivotal during post WW2
in making the country that we know today.
The development of an affordable car in the early 1950s changed the way people lived their lives by
making private travel faster and more efficient. For once people were no longer limited to the place
where they lived, people who lived in remote areas of Australia were less isolated with the car
increasing their connectedness with urban areas in Australia. Employment opportunities increased for
people who owned a car because they were no longer limited to jobs within their local area, also
having benefits to the economy by decreasing times from going to and from work. People were also
able to go on holidays to further places for cheaper prices which increased the amount of business in

Social Work Is A Career Defined As “Work Carried Out By
Social Work is a career defined as work carried out by trained personal with the aim of alleviating the
conditions of those in need of help or welfare . Social work varies in several fields, social workers
work as part of multi disciplinary teams with child welfare organizations, adoption and foster care

impression that it s an easy field because it is assumed that all social workers do is serve others and

noticed how clean and neat it was which was surprising to me because I always imagined a social
worker s office to be unorganized with files everywhere. As I looked around I noticed pictures of her
family and historical pictures, leaving me under the impression that she was a strong advocate for
human rights. From the looks of her room, I assumed that having pictures of her family in her helps
her keep stress at a minimum while at work. Erin Burnette, from Knoxville, Tennessee moved to
Richmond in 1999 to attend Virginia Commonwealth University where she received her master in
social work. Erin also has a master of divinity from Baptist Seminary at Richmond. With her master of

Abstract
The purpose of this research paper is that to present the difficulties Procter amp; Gamble faced in the
early 1980¡¦s due to a correlation between the company¡¦s Rely tampon and the disease Toxic Shock
Syndrome (TSS). Also, how the company handled the findings before and after new laws were passed
by Congress giving the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) the authority to regulate medical
devices, which included tampons. Thereafter, I will analyze the ethical issues relevant to this case
within a SWOT analysis.

Company Background
Procter amp; Gamble¡¦s major competitors begun marketing tampons as early as the 1930¡¦s. In 1972 a
ban to advertise sanitary products on television was lifted. Seeing this and the preference of women to
use tampons, thus becoming a highly competitive market, P amp;G decides to enter this market in the

January 1980, twelve (12) cases of TSS were reported to the federal Centers for Disease Control
(CDC). TSS begins suddenly, its symptoms are vomiting, high fever, rapid drop in blood pressure,
diarrhea, headache, sore throat and muscle aches. After 24 hours a rash appears which is sunburn like.
On days 3 and 4 of the disease, broken blood vessels appear in the skin, along with confusion, fatigue

blood to represent the harmful repercussions of the pursuit of power. Shakespeare warns
The pursuit of power has harmful repercussions. During Shakespeare s time people thought thin blood
implies good health while thick blood implies the result of poison. Lady Macbeth in planning for
Duncan s murder states, Make thick my blood; Stop up the access and passage to remorse
(Shakespeare I.v. 43 44). Lady Macbeth desires to thicken her blood to make planning murder easier
by removing her remorse. The result of thicker blood is poisoning: Lady Macbeth invokes the spirits
of murder to poison herself to aid in Macbeth s pursuit of power. As a result of pursuing power, one
can throw away part of himself to more easily commit vile acts. transition Shakespeare demonstrates
throwing away a part of oneself with Lady Macbeth desiring to poison herself to remove her remorse.

Free-Will And Determinism
Free Will and Determinism is it an Illusion?
Determinism, libertarianism and compatibilism are three significantly different views on where
unaccountability might stop and where free will and moral responsibility begin. Determinism is the
strict opinion that every action and decision is the cause of an event, genetics or the environment prior
to that action. Quite the opposite is libertarianism, which happens to be the genuine belief in free will
as well as the denial of universal causation. Finally, deep self compatibilism meshes both of these
stand points together and introduces the idea that one s action can be free if it stems purely out of
personal, authentic desire. Since all three judgments have a backbone of convincing ... Show more

Second, Silenus would agree that if something is caused it can never be free. Silenus is very high on
himself as he rarely ever takes Hench s threats seriously because he is intelligent enough to understand
that Hench feels responsible for anything that he does. This is partially because Silenus is constantly
reminding him that he isn t responsible for how his mind works and thus can never be held
accountable for any action that may blossem from his desires. Third, since Silenus concludes that he is
not responsible for what he is, free will and moral responsibility must cease to exist in his case. Don t
be silly Hench. Only human beings are responsible. I am what I am, (Satyr, 218). The Satyr considers
himself to be above human responsibility based on both his pre determined genetic information, and
also his environment when he s reduced to cleaning his creator s lab. To add, all human acquaintances
Silenus has had the displeasure of meeting label him as an untrustworthy beast. By soaking up human
behavior like a sponge, Silenus discovers that people can be extremely selfish, so he decides it is ok to
mock this behavior in a very direct manner. Therefore, Silenus the Satyr and his determinist view that
there are reasons behind every action have even Hench convinced that he is in fact liable for all
negative outcomes that Silenus may initiate.
In the beginning of the story, Hench is

Fast Food Dangers
Dangers Of Fast Food Fast food is delicious, but is it deadly? Over the years the fast food industry has
made larger proportions to meet the growing demand. The industry thrives off of competition, and is
constantly trying to one up each other. Places like Wendy s, Burger King, McDonald s, and Taco Bell
provide large amounts of food for a bargain. The creation of dollar menus and five dollar meal deals

Black Death Of The 14th Century Analysis
The Black Death of the fourteenth century was an extremely deadly pandemic that killed off around
half of Europe s population. It acted quickly, killing the people who contracted it within three days
once they displayed any symptoms. It s no surprise that the people who were affected reacted the way
they did. In terms of the responses, those of the Black Death and those of Zika, Ebola, and HIV AIDS
were actually very similar in how the fear the outbreaks produced overwhelmed the masses into being
overprotective and paranoid for their own wellbeing.

Rural Urban Environment Essay
Transition from Rural to Urban Environments
Humans once lived in the natural world, as other wild animals continue to do, but with the evolution
of civilization came urbanization. The United Nations reports that In the middle of the 20th century,
30 percent of people resided in urban areas. Today, over half of the world s population lives in urban
environments, and this figure is expected to increase anywhere from ten to twenty percent in the next
few decades (United Nations). Europe and the Americas are the most highly urbanized places, but
countries in all parts of the world are urbanizing at increasing rates (United Nations). The rise of
people living in urban areas will add 2. 5 billion people to the population by 2050, which will further
increase the demand for urbanization (United Nations). Meanwhile, less people are living in rural
environments (United Nations). The rate of rural population growth has decreased since the 1950s,
and it is projected that the number of people living in rural areas will drop from the current 3. 4 billion
to 3. 2 billion by 2050 (United Nations).
Changes in living environments consequently brought about changes in lifestyle. Richard Louv recalls
that the middle of the last century saw a huge migration of Americans to suburban neighborhoods,
areas that fall in between the categorizations for rural and urban. (2008). While the concept of
suburbia implies less urbanicity than cities, today s suburbs are vastly different from the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of The STEM Strand
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics or STEM Strand is an academic discipline that
focuses on math and science subjects. STEM strand education creates critical thinkers, increases
science and math literacy, and prepares the next generation of innovators. Innovation leads to new
products and processes that sustain our economy. This innovation in science and mathematics literacy
depends on a solid knowledge base in the STEM areas (Why STEM education so important?, 2016). It
is clear that most jobs in the future will require basic understanding of math and science. Although we

disadvantages. Taking the STEM strand may result to some of the students ... Show more content on

First, it helps us to gain more knowledge. Second, it improves our skills. STEM means creating
learning environments that allow students to be more active. Whenever that happens, students are
engaged in their own learning. There s no manipulation in getting students active, either, it just
happens. The outcome is that students better remember what they ve learned when they are engaged in
the process, and not passive by standers (Ken Royal,. 2013). While the core of a STEM education is a
technical curriculum, students will be forced to flex their problem solving muscles as related to
everyday tasks. STEM program will provide students hands on challenges, like product
conceptualization and creation, which promote creativity and social skills. Many of the nation s top
engineering colleges require STEM students to take classes in public speaking and humanities, as well
(Rhodes S., 2017). Third, it will help us to decide on what course are we going to take in the near
future. With these statements, we would like to inform you the advantages of taking STEM strand that
will lead us to have a better technology in the near future. STEM strand prepares students for college

The Death Penalty Is Wrong
Sean Shen
Mr. Todd
Languages and Literature, E 8, Research Paper
April 20th 2018
The Death Penalty is Wrong The death penalty has been considered one of the most severe
punishments by governments. However, recently, many people have rebelled against the death penalty.
The death penalty is an act that is similar to being ruled under fascism instead of democracy. Under
the rule of democracy, citizens are responsible for the acts of other fellow citizens, which can be
inferred that crime is caused by the lack of responsibility in society. The victim s loved ones suffer due
to the victim s death. It is understandable that they would want the murderer dead, but society often
does not work that way. People need to think on behalf of the society. ... Show more content on

First of all, the opposing view states that if the death penalty did not exist, then it could have a
tremendous effect on society. However, that is not true. If there were no death penalty, we would still
have other punishments that were used like life imprisonment. There are other forms of physical
punishment such as whipping. This type of punishment would be able to take the place of the death
penalty because the death penalty is just too extreme. In truth, criminals need a second chance in their
life for them to succeed. Here is a quote: Hoang Vu (attempted murderer) and Terrell Carswell
(cocaine trafficking and robbery) were next, pulling Burden off the deputy while David Schofield
(aggravated assault and battery) grabbed Moon s radio and called for help. (cracked.com). This shows
how a prisoner who has committed a crime helps the officers in prison. If they had a second chance to
integrate into society, they would live better lives without damaging society. If we look at the problem
on behalf of society, isn t it one of our responsibilities to forgive rather than taking everything from
them? A democratic society is when you are responsible for other people s

Role Of Boxer In Animal Farm
The allegorical novella, titled Animal Farm, was written by George Orwell, and expresses the 18th
century Industrial Revolution. During this time, Russia was renamed the Soviet Union, and replaced
as a communist nation because of being overthrown by Russian civilians, who assassinated Czar
Nicholas the II. The novel uses animals to represent the population of people, with some animals even
becoming and acting as leaders during this economic development. At the Manor Farm, the animals
rebel and win against their indefatigable human owner, Mr. Jones; however, a cryptic pig named
Napoleon takes the leadership role. As the farm struggles to make a utopian society, Boxer, a horse, is
depicted as an animal who is a peasant, and represents the working class during the difficult time.
Boxer is displayed variously as a persevering, devoted, and influential animal, that would expose the
Manor Farm of many flaws if he were not present and working.
Boxer is revealed in the text to be persevering, and an animal who will give every ounce of energy,
when it seems as though he has everything against him. After his hoof had healed up, Boxer worked
harder than ever...sometimes the long hours of insufficient food were hard to bear but Boxer never
faltered (74). This exemplifies that, Boxer is persistent, to the point where he will even work while he
is still recovering from a brutal hoof injury. This also shows that, Boxer, although lacking valuable

Treatment Of Women In Hamlet
Hamlet has a wide variety of topics ranging from the role of women during the last sixteenth century,
sexuality and incest, religion, the mystery of life and death and suicide as an escape from problems
among others but the most important and the only that could completely be seen in the work is
Treason in Elsinore Castle in Denmark . High treason is easily observable from any point of view. It is
easy to recognize how King Hamlet and his son Prince Hamlet are betrayed at the same time by their
own family and an entire people is also betrayed with all the murky movements that are made so that a
new king who is an assassin and a corrupt politician could assume the throne. I chose the theme of

Elizabeth I was illegitimate daughter of King Henry VIII and her lover Ann Bolen. Elizabeth had as
her predecessors to her sister Mary I and then her brother in law Philip II who was king of Spain.
Mary I was closely related to the Catholic Church and she strongly defended her catholic principles.
She carried out a massacre against Protestants and for that reason she is known as Bloody Mary .
When Elizabeth assumed the throne she recognized herself as Protestant. Elizabeth wanted to restore
the peace for her people because her sister had already generated many deaths. This all generated a
climate of instability in the Catholic Church since they believed it pertinent that a catholic king or
queen should claim the throne. Many plans began to be made against the Protestant Queen. Catholic
Church did not recognize Elizabeth as queen because they believed that no illegitimate daughter
deserved the throne. Church wanted to name Mary I queen of Scots as queen of England because she
was the catholic and legitimate daughter of James V of Scotland and cousin of Elizabeth I. England
experienced an intense phase of economic, cultural and social development during Elizabeth´s reign.
The reign of Elizabeth sealed not only the appearance of England as a great power in the European
country but also it was characterized by a great cultural and civil

Isaac Newton Light
As a result of Sir Isaac Newton s experiment, humans are able to have an understanding of the light
color spectrum; consisting of visible light, colors, and electromagnetic radiation, the light color
spectrum is only a very small portion of the electromagnetic spectrum.
In 1666, Sir Isaac Newton set up an experiment that required a hole in a window shade, a glass prism,
daylight, and a darkened room. As the ray of daylight entered the room, its beam passed through the
prism. The light therefore then displayed onto a further off white wall as a dispersing beam made up
of various colors. This sight led to Newton s conclusion that white light comprises of numerous types
of light, each being from a single pure color bent in differing angle degrees. Now using a converging
lens to block out some colors and refuse others, Newton continued his experiment. Consequently, he
discovered that the new visible colors had appeared entirely distant than the ones found in the natural
developing spectrums. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although all electromagnetic radiation is light, our eyes can only perceive a small portion, known as
the visible light spectrum. Other names for the visible light spectrum are known as the optical
spectrum of light and the spectrum of white light. We can see only a little portion of the spectrum for
the reason being that some parts of the visible spectrum contains wavelengths that are either too big or
too small and energetic for the human eye to comprehend. The additional wavelengths and frequencies
that are included in electromagnetic radiation and not in the visible light spectrum are basically
invisible to the human

Magnets Lab
As was hypothesized, the time taken to fall through the copper tube increased as the number of
magnets did. However, the relationship was not quite linear. As shown in Figure 3.1, when the average
times were plotted against the corresponding number, the graph exhibited a positive polynomial trend,
more specifically, one of a quadratic.
Figure 3.1
This would mean that as the number of magnets increased, it would take more and more time to fall
through. Thus, it is expected that at some point, the casing would never be seen coming out of the
tube, as the time would effectively hit infinity. However, this is outside of the bounds of the
experiment; To keep total mass constant at 74 grams, only a finite number of magnets could be used.

Dopamine Model Essay
The Dopamine Model (DM) has been around since the twentieth century (Preston, O Neal and Talaga,
2017). The model believes that the cause of schizophrenia symptoms is from abnormal dopamine in
the brain (Preston, et al., 2017). The premise is based off two observations. The first one is that
antipsychotic drugs are able to bind and block the dopamine receptors (Preston, O Neal, et al., 2017).
The second observation is that the antipsychotic drugs increases dopamine which create paranoid
schizophrenia symptoms (Preston, et al., 2017).
The Glutamate Model premise is from the phencyclidine (PCP) drug (Preston, et al., 2017). The
upside of the glutamate model is that the PCP is able to block the glutamate at the N methyl D
asparate signals in the brain (Preston, et al., 2017). PCP increases symptoms that schizophrenia lack
such as, negative thinking, apart and disorganization (Preston, et al., 2017).
Neurodevelopmental/Neurodegenerative Model (NNM) is different from the former two models.
NNM examines the biological factors that are considered abnormal (Preston, et al., 2017). It has been
believed through evidence that schizophrenia is a progressive disorder with this loss of cognitive use

Argumentative Essay On Mascots
Currently in the NFL, the Washington Redskins are being faced with a staggering controversy: Should
they change they change their mascot as a result of Native Americans viewing it is a racial
discriminatory (Angle 2016)? Dating back to 1933, when the Washington NFL team abandoned the
original title of Braves and adopted Redskins, the debate has since been longstanding (Hylton 2014).
Native Americans are challenging the team to rid them, along with all team mascot names relating to
their culture countrywide, of their title, but the mascot names have no negative connotation and should
not be protested against. The controversy relates back to the 1900s when Native Americans began to
feel oppressed and teams began using their titles as mascot (Brady 2016). During this period
regulations forbade Native Americans to speak their language, practice their religions or leave their
reservations (Brady 2016). To enforce this, laws were passed to transform the Native Americans into
the white culture (Brady 2016). In other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Epistemological and Management Research Problem
In what ways does the choice of an epistemological perspective or stance influence the formulation of
a management research problem?
Epistemology is all about knowledge. It is defined by Bonjour (2002) as the philosophical study of
knowledge; its nature, its requirements and its limitations . Knowledge is about what you know. How
you know what you know is dependent on your perceptions, your views, your reasoning and the
reality of it. The first time I came across the question what is knowledge? it virtually looks like a
simple question that I could easily provide an answer to but in the real sense of it, I realized I was
dealing with a complex question which requires a difficult answer. Knowledge is vast but the reality of
it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All these fall under different categories of; Intuitive knowledge, Authoritarian knowledge, Logical
knowledge and Empirical knowledge as identified by epistemologists (Tee, 2004). The source of
knowledge is very important because if there is any form of skepticism about the validity of the
product of knowledge, one may take to the origin or source of the knowledge. This does not mean that
certain sources of knowledge are unreliable. In fact, a single study or research work can employ the
use of all the sources of knowledge but this depends on the researcher. Therefore, for a management
research problem to be formulated, the chosen epistemological perspective has a great part to play
because the identification of the problem and the definition of the problem have to be linked to the
knowledge expected to yield them. As illustrated by Easterby Smith, Thorpe Jackson (2012), of all the
various features of a project or a research work, epistemology is one of those that are progressively
less visible but provides alongside with ontology and methodology the decisions and assumptions that
the method and techniques of the projects depend on.
Epistemology presents two approaches to a research problem. The first is the positivism approach
which as explained by Easterby Smith, Thorpe Jackson (2012) carries the assumption that there is a
reality which exists independently of the

Abortion, Interest Groups And Policy Development

Current Controversies Final Paper
Abortion, Interest Groups and Policy Development
I. INTRODUCTION In contemporary America it can be argued that nothing is more contentious and
controversial of an issue than abortion. From the vehement pro life movement to the impassioned pro
choice coalition, this policy issue is one that has become increasingly important in our society. This
debate has raised important questions regarding the value of human life, at what stage of development
does a fetus have it s constitutionally ensured rights take hold over that of the mother and at what
stage can a state start regulating abortions. Interest groups have become integral in the development of
policies that give women the right to have an abortion and some that restrict access to the procedure.
Legislators on both the federal and state level have been struggling for power over this issue and have
been fighting over who has jurisdiction over this area of public policy. The Supreme Court has ruled in
favor of abortion access while state governments have attempted to mandate transvaginal ultrasounds
and place safety restrictions that cause clinics to close and the debate has raised questions about the
moral foundations of America and it s citizens. Behind the scenes of all of this chaos none of these
entities are fully in control because interest groups are motivating them to behave in ways they may
not even realize. The abortion debate has gone so much further than just

The Hubble Telescope Report
The first reason why shutting down Hubble would be a calamity is that it made important
contributions to the development of astronomy and the exploration of the universe in the history.
Traced back to the historical period, in 1946, the astronomer Lyman Spitzer put forward a large space
telescope and he thought that this type of telescope was more advantages than a ground based
telescope. In 1976, the European Space Agency joined the program and provided telescope s solar
panels in order to facilitate the implementation of scientific operations. In 1986, because the design of
the shuttle s sold rocket boosters made a mistake and led to the Space Shuttle Challenger and its crew

These challenges helped NASA and the European Space Agency to create a historical legend. In 1993,
astronauts installed COSTAR in order to restored Hubble s vision and meet the designer s
expectations. Then, they also updated some of the components such as ESA provided solar arrays and
associated control electronics ( HubbleSite , 2012, para. 7 ). By updating component, Hubble
contained a extensive data to measure the universe, and astronomers used this telescope to do more in
depth research. In 1997, with the constant innovation of Hubble Space Telescope, Servicing Mission 2
occurred, and it improved Hubble s spectroscopic capabilities with the insertion of the Space
Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS) ( HubbleSite , 2012, para. 8). In addition, they also created
Near Infrared Camera and Multi Object Spectrometer (NICMOS), it showed Hubble s view of the

Social Media And Its Effects On The Way People Interact...
In the globalized world, social media has becoming increasingly (Madden Zickuhr, 2009). The social
media applications have dominated the way people interact with each other, it also impacts on the way
we do business in comparison with that in the last decade. The question should be mentioned firstly
what is social media? There are some ways to define the term social media; however, in general, this
is considered as a place where meets the demand for social interaction by using technological
advancements such as web based technology (Constantinides, 2014; Kaplan Haenlein, 2010; Safko
Brake, 2009). Similarity, Tuten and Solomon (2013) also defined social media as the online means of
communication, conveyance, collaboration, and cultivation among interconnected and interdependent
networks of people, communities, and organizations enhanced by technological capacities and
mobility . There are some types of social media and there is no definitive typology of different types
of social media (Kaplan and Haenlein, 2010); nevertheless, it can differentiate towards social
networking (e.g. Facebook), professional networking (e.g. LinkedIn), video sharing (e.g. you tube)
and so on. From these meta analysis, it also cannot be denied that nowadays, social media plays a key
role in giving the democratization of information, knowledge in which it allows individual and
entrepreneurs to take part in social communication in some way that have never ever existed before

Arab And Norman Dominations
When talking about the historical periods of Sicily, especially the period of Arab and Norman
domination, we are not talking about Arabs on one side and Normans on the other because they are
usually tied together and represented as one unique period, the Arab Norman. When the Normans
conquered Sicily during the 11th century, some elements of the Arab world were not removed, but
assimilated and improved. In this respect, we can talk of an historical continuity between Arab and
Norman dominations in Sicily. Institutionally, the Normans combined the administrative organisation
of the Byzantines, Arabs, and Lombards with their own conceptions of feudal law and order to forge a
unique government. Under this state, there was great religious freedom,

Is Blanche Innocent Or Innocent
One`s Destiny Many people would say that Blanche is innocent and pure. However her lies and
difficult life experiences, it is proven that the way Blanche portrays herself is a pure show for the
others. The play A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams portrays Blanche s dramatic shift in
beliefs, which through her encounters literally destroys her. Blanche originally grew up as an innocent
young girl, but life was just simply a tough journey encouraged this to change her and cause her to
become insane. Blanche s own actions is what lead her to her tragic downfall by the end of the story,
but many may consider Blanche a victim . Blanche s dramatic shift in beliefs, which through her
encounters, figuratively and literally destroys her. From the beginning, Blanche considers herself to be
innocent, but through many conflicts she begins to suffer and regress mentally and physically.
Early on in the play Blanche Dubois was a wealthy, innocent, and beautiful young woman. After
experiencing the hardship of loss, these characteristics slowly but surely went away. The tragic loss of
Blanche s husband, Allan Grey, and her childhood home in Belle Reve is what caused a turn of events
in Blanche s innocent life. Blanche Dubois had never been able to relieve herself from the guilt she
feels due to the loss of her husband. Blanche is ultimately responsible for her husband s

Essay on Depression in Hopkins Sonnets of Desolation
Depression in Hopkins Sonnets of Desolation
Gerard Manley Hopkins (1844 1889) was, first and foremost, a man of the cloth. He seems to have set
his gifts in musical composition, drawing, and poetry at a distant second to his ecclesiastical duties for
most of his life, causing him to experience terrible bouts of depression. Hopkins poured out this
depression in what are known as the Sonnets of Desolation, including I wake and feel the fell of dark,
not day, Not, I ll carrion comfort, Despair, not feast on thee, and No Worst, there is none. Pitched past
pitch of grief. In his 1970 essay entitled The Dark Night of the Soul, Paul L. Mariani tells us that

Though all of his works contain strong religious themes, he seems never to have been able to fully
reconcile his art with his job, his chosen way of life. Mary, mother of us, where is your relief? he asks
the Virgin Mary, but it seems he is crying out to the heavens for succor yet at the same time utilizing
his poetic talent to soothe and comfort himself through emotional expression (No Worst, line 11).
Another important factor in Hopkins depression is that he was not successful as a priest. According to
Mariani, there is no hard evidence that Hopkins ever felt he had been the triggering action for even
one convert. Yet conversions are what he wished for his whole life (54). In the poem I wake and feel
the fell of dark, not day, it is clear that, perhaps as a result of this failure (and in his view, coupled with
his artistic indulgences,) Hopkins feels distanced from and powerless to communicate with God: And
my lament/ Is cries countless, cries like dead letters sent/ To dearest him that lives alas! away (line 6).
Here Hopkins laments his lack of accomplishment as a preacher, and lets fall a sliver of doubt
regarding his poetic prowess; he has sent many letters to Bridges containing unpublished poems are
those poems dead as well? This isolation and severance of communication with God also echoes the
sentiments of detachment from God found in No Worst as the narrator

Last Of The Mohicans
The Last of the Mohicans
The Last of the Mohicans is a 1992 American historical drama directed by Michael Mann and staring
Daniel Day Lewis, Madeleine Stowe, and Jodhi May, with Russell Means, Wes Studi, Eric Schweig,
and Steven Waddington in supporting roles. It is set in 1757 during the French and Indian War. British
and French troops do battle in colonial America, with aid from various Native American war parties.
The Mohicans are allied with the British while their old enemies, the Hurons, side with the French.
Nathaniel/Hawkeye (Daniel Day Lewis), the white adopted son of the Mohican Chingatchgook
(Russell Means), tries to stay out of the conflict, but together with his father and his brother Uncas
(Eric Schweig) is pulled deeply into it when they rescue the daughters of British Col. Munro (Maurice
Roeves) from a Huron ambush. Hawkeye becomes the protector of the two daughters of a British

There are at least five million Indians in the US alone and several thousand Mohicans. The recurring
description of Uncas (Eric Schweig) as the last of the Mohicans symbolizes the death of Indian culture
at the hands of the intruding European civilization. The title anticipates the ultimate tragedy of the
film s plot. Although the title specifically refers to Uncas, it also alludes to a larger historical event:
the removal of the Indians by President Andrew Jackson s policies of the 1830s. The phrase the last of
the Mohicans is a passionate expression of grief of the extermination of the ways of life of Native

The United States is no longer a country of immigrants, it is a country filled with citizens of diverse heritage, but they all identify as an American. This poses a problem for those who still wish to immigrate to America. It is still described as a place where there is a possibility of an American Dream, and where anyone can become anything. Determinism, libertarianism and compatibilism are three significantly different views on where unaccountability might stop and where free will and moral responsibility begin. Determinism is the strict opinion that every action and decision is the cause of an event, genetics or the environment prior to that action. Quite the opposite is libertarianism, which happens to be the genuine belief in free will as well as the denial of universal causation. Rural Urban Environment Essay Transition from Rural to Urban Environments Humans once lived in the natural world, as other wild animals continue to do, but with the evolution of civilization came urbanization. The United Nations reports that In the middle of the 20th century, 30 percent of people resided in urban areas. Today, over half of the world s population lives in urban environments, and this figure is expected to increase anywhere from ten to twenty percent in the next few decades (United Nations). Europe and the Americas are the most highly urbanized places, but countries in all parts of the world are urbanizing at increasing rates (United Nations). The rise of people living in urban areas will add 2. 5 billion people to the population by 2050, which will further increase the demand for urbanization (United Nations). The rate of rural population growth has decreased since the 1950s, and it is projected that the number of people living in rural areas will drop from the current 3. 4 billion to 3. 2 billion by 2050 (United Nations). However, recently, many people have rebelled against the death penalty. The death penalty is an act that is similar to being ruled under fascism instead of democracy. Under the rule of democracy, citizens are responsible for the acts of other fellow citizens, which can be inferred that crime is caused by the lack of responsibility in society. This type of punishment would be able to take the place of the death penalty because the death penalty is just too extreme. In truth, criminals need a second chance in their life for them to succeed. During this time, Russia was renamed the Soviet Union, and replaced as a communist nation because of being overthrown by Russian civilians, who assassinated Czar Nicholas the II. The novel uses animals to represent the population of people, with some animals even becoming and acting as leaders during this economic development. At the Manor Farm, the animals rebel and win against their indefatigable human owner, Mr. Jones; however, a cryptic pig named Napoleon takes the leadership role. As the farm struggles to make a utopian society, Boxer, a horse, is depicted as an animal who is a peasant, and represents the working class during the difficult time. Isaac Newton Light As a result of Sir Isaac Newton s experiment, humans are able to have an understanding of the light color spectrum; consisting of visible light, colors, and electromagnetic radiation, the light color spectrum is only a very small portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. As the ray of daylight entered the room, its beam passed through the prism. The light therefore then displayed onto a further off white wall as a dispersing beam made up of various colors. This sight led to Newton s conclusion that white light comprises of numerous types of light, each being from a single pure color bent in differing angle degrees. The model believes that the cause of schizophrenia symptoms is from abnormal dopamine in the brain (Preston, et al., 2017). The premise is based off two observations. The first one is that antipsychotic drugs are able to bind and block the dopamine receptors (Preston, O Neal, et al., 2017). The second observation is that the antipsychotic drugs increases dopamine which create paranoid schizophrenia symptoms (Preston, et al., 2017). A poll done by the Washington Post announced that 9 out of 10 Native Americans do not oppose their titles as mascots. Nevertheless, the Washington Post poll was conducted exclusively by telephone (Rosenstein 2017). This resulted in a highly unreliable product. It is unknown how many Native Americans legitimately protest these mascots. Therefore, a correct claim cannot be argued regarding the total sum of Native Americans that object Native American ... • 26. Epistemological and Management Research Problem In what ways does the choice of an epistemological perspective or stance influence the formulation of a management research problem? Epistemology is all about knowledge. It is defined by Bonjour (2002) as the philosophical study of knowledge; its nature, its requirements and its limitations . Knowledge is about what you know. How you know what you know is dependent on your perceptions, your views, your reasoning and the reality of it. The first time I came across the question what is knowledge? it virtually looks like a simple question that I could easily provide an answer to but in the real sense of it, I realized I was dealing with a complex question which requires a difficult answer. Knowledge is vast but the reality of it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All these fall under different categories of; Intuitive knowledge, Authoritarian knowledge, Logical knowledge and Empirical knowledge as identified by epistemologists (Tee, 2004). The source of knowledge is very important because if there is any form of skepticism about the validity of the product of knowledge, one may take to the origin or source of the knowledge. This does not mean that certain sources of knowledge are unreliable. In fact, a single study or research work can employ the use of all the sources of knowledge but this depends on the researcher. Therefore, for a management research problem to be formulated, the chosen epistemological perspective has a great part to play because the identification of the problem and the definition of the problem have to be linked to the knowledge expected to yield them. As illustrated by Easterby Smith, Thorpe Jackson (2012), of all the various features of a project or a research work, epistemology is one of those that are progressively less visible but provides alongside with ontology and methodology the decisions and assumptions that the method and techniques of the projects depend on. Epistemology presents two approaches to a research problem. The first is the positivism approach which as explained by Easterby Smith, Thorpe Jackson (2012) carries the assumption that there is a reality which exists independently of the ... • 27. Abortion, Interest Groups And Policy Development Kasey Lewis Current Controversies Final Paper Abortion, Interest Groups and Policy Development I. INTRODUCTION In contemporary America it can be argued that nothing is more contentious and controversial of an issue than abortion. From the vehement pro life movement to the impassioned pro choice coalition, this policy issue is one that has become increasingly important in our society. This debate has raised important questions regarding the value of human life, at what stage of development does a fetus have it s constitutionally ensured rights take hold over that of the mother and at what stage can a state start regulating abortions. Interest groups have become integral in the development of policies that give women the right to have an abortion and some that restrict access to the procedure. Legislators on both the federal and state level have been struggling for power over this issue and have been fighting over who has jurisdiction over this area of public policy. The Supreme Court has ruled in favor of abortion access while state governments have attempted to mandate transvaginal ultrasounds and place safety restrictions that cause clinics to close and the debate has raised questions about the moral foundations of America and it s citizens. Behind the scenes of all of this chaos none of these entities are fully in control because interest groups are motivating them to behave in ways they may not even realize. The abortion debate has gone so much further than just ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. The Hubble Telescope Report The first reason why shutting down Hubble would be a calamity is that it made important contributions to the development of astronomy and the exploration of the universe in the history. Traced back to the historical period, in 1946, the astronomer Lyman Spitzer put forward a large space telescope and he thought that this type of telescope was more advantages than a ground based telescope. In 1976, the European Space Agency joined the program and provided telescope s solar panels in order to facilitate the implementation of scientific operations. In 1986, because the design of the shuttle s sold rocket boosters made a mistake and led to the Space Shuttle Challenger and its crew suffered a heavy blow. These challenges helped NASA and the European Space Agency to create a historical legend. In 1993, astronauts installed COSTAR in order to restored Hubble s vision and meet the designer s expectations. By updating component, Hubble contained a extensive data to measure the universe, and astronomers used this telescope to do more in depth research. In 1997, with the constant innovation of Hubble Space Telescope, Servicing Mission 2 occurred, and it improved Hubble s spectroscopic capabilities with the insertion of the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS) ( HubbleSite , 2012, para. 8). In addition, they also created Near Infrared Camera and Multi Object Spectrometer (NICMOS), it showed Hubble s view of the universe to a new spectral regime those wavelengths slightly longer than visual light ( HubbleSite , 2012, para. 8). • 29. Social Media And Its Effects On The Way People Interact... In the globalized world, social media has becoming increasingly (Madden Zickuhr, 2009). The social media applications have dominated the way people interact with each other, it also impacts on the way we do business in comparison with that in the last decade. The question should be mentioned firstly what is social media? There are some ways to define the term social media; however, in general, this is considered as a place where meets the demand for social interaction by using technological advancements such as web based technology (Constantinides, 2014; Kaplan Haenlein, 2010; Safko Brake, 2009). Similarity, Tuten and Solomon (2013) also defined social media as the online means of communication, conveyance, collaboration, and cultivation among interconnected and interdependent networks of people, communities, and organizations enhanced by technological capacities and mobility . There are some types of social media and there is no definitive typology of different types of social media (Kaplan and Haenlein, 2010); nevertheless, it can differentiate towards social networking (e.g. Facebook), professional networking (e.g. LinkedIn), video sharing (e.g. you tube) and so on. From these meta analysis, it also cannot be denied that nowadays, social media plays a key role in giving the democratization of information, knowledge in which it allows individual and entrepreneurs to take part in social communication in some way that have never ever existed before (Fischer and ... • 34. Essay on Depression in Hopkins Sonnets of Desolation Depression in Hopkins Sonnets of Desolation Gerard Manley Hopkins (1844 1889) was, first and foremost, a man of the cloth. He seems to have set his gifts in musical composition, drawing, and poetry at a distant second to his ecclesiastical duties for most of his life, causing him to experience terrible bouts of depression. Hopkins poured out this depression in what are known as the Sonnets of Desolation, including I wake and feel the fell of dark, not day, Not, I ll carrion comfort, Despair, not feast on thee, and No Worst, there is none. Pitched past pitch of grief. In his 1970 essay entitled The Dark Night of the Soul, Paul L. Mariani tells us that while [Hopkins friend Robert] Bridges thought that Carrion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though all of his works contain strong religious themes, he seems never to have been able to fully reconcile his art with his job, his chosen way of life. Mary, mother of us, where is your relief? he asks the Virgin Mary, but it seems he is crying out to the heavens for succor yet at the same time utilizing his poetic talent to soothe and comfort himself through emotional expression (No Worst, line 11). Another important factor in Hopkins depression is that he was not successful as a priest. According to Mariani, there is no hard evidence that Hopkins ever felt he had been the triggering action for even one convert. Yet conversions are what he wished for his whole life (54). In the poem I wake and feel the fell of dark, not day, it is clear that, perhaps as a result of this failure (and in his view, coupled with his artistic indulgences,) Hopkins feels distanced from and powerless to communicate with God: And my lament/ Is cries countless, cries like dead letters sent/ To dearest him that lives alas! away (line 6). Here Hopkins laments his lack of accomplishment as a preacher, and lets fall a sliver of doubt regarding his poetic prowess; he has sent many letters to Bridges containing unpublished poems are those poems dead as well? This isolation and severance of communication with God also echoes the sentiments of detachment from God found in No Worst as the narrator ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
