A New Way to Read and Study the Bible in Michael Joseph...
Michael Joseph Brown, unveils new ways to read and examine the Bible in his book, titled What They
Don t Tell You: A Survivor s Guide to Biblical Studies . Although quite technical, the guide, not book,
really goes into depth on the process of studying the Bible and its documents. Brown has a new and
refreshing way of giving the reader this information that is necessary in a small group, or for a Biblical
scholar. This guide is not meant solely for the biblical scholar and talks in detail about the difference
between these two, because some may link the two together. Published by the Westminster John Knox
Press, WJK for short, this book gives straight forward answers on the best way to thoroughly
understand Biblical text. As you read on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though they both may be considered educational settings, Brown explains that one s best first
approach to Biblical Scholarship is to approach it with the same mind frame that one might possess
when in any other scholarly class. Brown also mentions the many different methods of interpreting the
Bible. In addition to the foundation of modern biblical Scholarship , the historical critical method,
readers will discover several other methods. Readers will get the opportunity to read up on the process
of each method and compare both the advantages and disadvantages. Brown then, strategically, works
into a sub chapter titled A Primer on Biblical basics which includes topics such as the creation of the
Bible itself, the languages of the Bible and chapter and verse divisions. Brown even includes the
significance of the use of italics. Finally, Brown concludes the first chapter with a sub chapter titled
How Can I Prepare for the Process of Academic Biblical Study? A very basic question that packs quite
a punch as this question is a foundation for enduring Biblical Scholarship. Brown dictates to readers
the fact that they should be prepared to give up the mind frame that always asks how something
applies to their personal life. He later talks about the fact that the words what I believe will only
further one from being a real benefactor of Biblical Study. All in all, Brown suggests that one entering

Giving Back To A Community Analysis
As someone who strongly believes in the value of community, giving back is the least I can do. From
an early age, I was taught that giving back to others is one of the greatest joys in life. When I was a
child, my parents and I made care packages of cooked food and fruits and vegetables and delivered
them to people who were in desperate need in a slum of Tehran. Seeing their smiles and eagerness to
reach those packages was both the best and the worst feeling of my life. I made me happy that I could
bring smiles to their faces and maybe a little bit of hope to some families, but I was saddened as I
witnessed the tragic lives of so many people. Poverty is a challenge that faces many, but it is hard to
understand why when other people have so

Revolutionary Changes in the Atlantic World, 1750–1850
CHAPTER 21
Revolutionary Changes in the Atlantic World,
1750 1850
I.
Prelude to Revolution: The Eighteenth Century Crisis
A. Colonial Wars and Fiscal Crises 1. Rivalry among the European powers intensified in the early
1600s as the Dutch Attacked Spanish and Portuguese possessions in the Americas and in Asia. In the
1600s and 1700s the British then checked Dutch commercial and colonial ambitions and went on to
defeat France in the Seven Years War (1756 1763) and take over French colonial possessions in the
Americas and in India. 2. The unprecedented costs of the wars of the seventeenth and eighteenth
centuries drove European governments to seek new sources of revenue at a ... Show more content on

Rationalist Enlightenment reformers also sparked popular opposition when they sought to replace
popular festivals with rational civic rituals. 3.Spontaneous popular uprisings had revolutionary
potential only when they coincided with conflicts within the elite.
The American Revolution, 1775 1800
A. Frontiers and Taxes 1.After 1763, the British government faced two problems in its North
American colonies: the danger of war with the Amerindians as colonists pushed west across the
Appalachians, and the need to raise more taxes from the colonists in order to pay the increasing costs
of colonial administration and defense. British attempts to impose new taxes or to prevent further
westward settlement provoked protests in the colonies. 2.In the Great Lakes region, British policies
undermined the Amerindian economy and provoked a series of Amerindian raids on the settled areas
of Pennsylvania and Virginia. The Amerindian alliance that carried out these raids was defeated within
a year. Fear of more violence led the British to establish a western limit for settlement in the
Proclamation of 1763 and to slow down settlement of the regions north of the Ohio and east of the
Mississippi in the Quebec Act of 1774. 3.The British government tried to

Business Complexity And Guided Change Essay
Business complexity and socio technical uncertainty are two change methods. Choosing one over the
other depends on the situation. For example, business complexity can be a large organization with
many components. These can include diverse teams, stakeholders, and products. With this type of
organization, using the guided change method would be most beneficial. Guided change is an iterative
process. It is good when multiple stakeholders need to make decesions. They can be changed in
direction due to the complexity of the organization. This includes considering guided change when the
change affects different business units and hierarchical rank. Socio technical uncertainty is the
information and decesions needed to make a change. In this environment, the processes and work are
exactly known to the organization. Based on the extent to which the tasks involved are determined,
established, or exactly known (Buono and Kerber, 2010, p.8). The work tasks are open and the work
processes can be repeated easily between team members. In this environment, employees can be
directed to follow changes. In this case, the guided approach is appropriate. Change starts at the top,
employees are directed to new directions, and the change leadership is notified then command. 2.
Building change capacity (and readiness) in organizations is, according to this article, a key condition
for sustainable organizational change. What is the meaning of this concept change capacity and

Van Gogh And Gauguin
The discussion that took place during week three focused broadly on comparing the differences in
vision, personality and ideas of the primitive between Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Gauguin. These
differences were investigated through their working relationship, as shown by their letters of
correspondence, and the art each artist produced during this time. The group discussed comparisons
between Van Gogh s plan and almost obsession with making the Studio of the South work and
Gauguin s wanderlust that kept him moving. The ideal studio of both Gauguin and Van Gogh opened
up discussion further to what aspects of the primitive each painter was influenced by in their
attempted creation of a utopian working space. The readings from Childs and the ... Show more

A Discussion again focused on comparing the two saying how the preference of Brittany versus Arles
says much about how their creative process differed. Gauguin s rarely depicts his subject matter with
descriptive accuracy instead he takes a place and abstracts the savage and primitive quality that he is
searching for. Brittany offers Gauguin not only a rocky savagery in its landscape but allows him to
abstract a medieval primitivism from the people in the area due to their Catholic devotion and less
modern lifestyle. In his letter to Gauguin in September 1888, Gauguin describes the figures in Vision
After the Sermon, as him achieving a great rustic and superstitious simplicity saying that the people
are less civilized due to their Catholic devotion, and thus more spiritual. Arles offered Van Gogh a
calm sunny place in nature that can act as a monastery for him. A quote by Childs was brought up that,
Arles was caught somewhere between a French agrarian village and a modern city This caused issue
for Gauguin who didn t want any of that modernity, as shown by him often leaving out signs of
civilization in his tropical landscapes. While Van Gogh does feature aspects of modernity in his
painting later

Scapegoat-Simba In The Lion King
Watching The Lion King as a child, you see it as a tale of a young lion cub going through highs and
lows and in the end defeating the villain and saving the day. But looking deeper, you see that the
storyline has much more to it. It s about the young lion cub Simba, who is the next in line to be king,
who is taught by his father Mufasa. This leads to Mufasa s brother, Scar, to create a realistic conflict,
in which he kills his own brother and generates a scapegoat Simba by blaming him, giving him
thoughts that everyone will be disappointed for the reason that it was his fault. This, in turn, causes the
young cub to feel ostracized from his pride, leading him to run away. Simba meets up with a meerkat
(Timon) and a warthog (Pumba), to which he conforms to their way of thinking as they raise him.
They teach him Hakuna Matata No worries , which he follows and he uses it when Nala tells him to
come back. It also created a self fulfilling prophecy of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other words, people throw innocent people under the bus for something they did not do. Scar did
this to Simba throughout the story. First, when he s speaking to Mufasa, he blames Simba for being
the reason that he will not be king. Second, after killing Mufasa, he convinces Simba that it was all his
fault and that he is to blame, he again uses this in front of the entire pride, saying that Simba killed
Mufasa. After Scar filled Simba s head with thoughts of his mother and the pride being disappointed
and not accepting him for murdering his father, Simba flees, in shame of being ostracized. Ostracism
is the deliberate social exclusion of individuals or groups(Module 29, 2016). While this is not truly the
situation, Scar cunningly deceived Simba into believing that he was veritably ostracized by his family
and pride; thus showing us the effects of someone who feels

I Am My Love For Reading
Today I am redeveloping my love for reading thanks to my little siblings, Alex and Faith. If it was not
for them I do not think that light would have been relit. As a child I loved reading and it was
something I did every day without even thinking about it. However, due to negative experiences in
school I lost my love for reading and it was something I grew up resenting. I am so delighted to be
redeveloping my love for reading because I forgot just how relaxing it was and how digging into a
good book can make you feel as if you are one of the characters in the story. I think my love of
reading as a child developed because my mom read to me. It was something I did every night.
However, once Scholastic Reader tests started my love of reading changed into resentment for
reading, as I was never able to read what I wanted. As soon as my book options were taken from me
and I was forced to only read books I could take tests on I just stopped reading. This is a trend that
happened all throughout middle school because I was required to take Scholastic tests every single
year through eighth grade. Then once high school came along I was still so angry and had such
animosity towards reading I never got back into it. My early experiences really impacted the reader I
have become. Due to the fact I stopped reading I went from a strong reader to a not as strong reader.
Also, not being a reader has impacted the literate person I am. When you read your vocabulary is more
advanced. I

Comparison Of March Of The Penguins And Happy Feet
In the films March of the Penguins and Happy Feet we get the essentially the same story both times.
The movies try to depict the life of a penguin and the struggles that they deal with. In both cases the
audience is going to walk away thinking that they have received this. However, March of the Penguins
is a genuine display of a penguin s life while Happy Feet feeds us a happy cartoon. Another thing to
consider here is the audience that might be attending each film. In this case a child is going to be much
more pleased with Happy Feet for obvious reasons, while an adult might enjoy the experience of
knowing how a penguin actually lives in the wild. Any viewer can have a preference for this or that,
they either want the real thing or the fairytale ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is an act that is taking place in front of the camera and just being captured. There are usually no
special effects and no one is manipulating the scene. During this film when the egg falls onto the ice it
is a very real thing happening. Inside the egg is a live penguin of some sort and it is actually dying on
film. While it is very sad, it is nature taking its course with no human intervention and regardless if it
was captured or not this egg would still have frozen while the parent looked on helplessly. These are
not people waddling around in costumes or a special effects egg that is made to represent the real
thing, it is real life. There is no recreating or acting out a moment like this which is why this is easily
viewed as a realist film. That is where mise en scene comes into play. Everything that you do see is
without a doubt real and not a constructed set. They didn t just kill penguins to throw on camera and
they didn t bring in stuffed ones either. They simply recorded what they saw and found. Everything
from the blistering cold winds to the layers upon layers of snow dropped upon the enormous flock of
birds is authentic. Even the lighting and sounds around them is what the crew is forced to work with,
no one on this earth can change a blizzard just because they want to get a better shot for a movie. It s
something that would be very difficult to recreate and equally difficult to capture. The only effect that
humans add is the Voice of god that Morgan Freeman is giving to us. This man is never seen on screen
and is never mentioned throughout but he knows exactly what is going on and also he is very
knowledgeable about the unfolding events. This voice seemingly comes out of nowhere and that is
why it is referred to as such. While in actuality this man probably never set foot in Antarctica and
mostly likely recorded all of this in an air conditioned studio somewhere. So

My First Term As A Declared History Major
This is my second term as a declared History major. Before this, I was a Mathematics major, and
during my time at Umpqua Community College, I worked at both subjects in order to open more
doors in my future. Looking back, I am glad I did this. The reason being is that on Thursday of the
first week of Fall term, October 1, 2015, the UCC shooting occurred. Without hesitation, I drove down
to Roseburg to take care of my girlfriend who was there during the event. Subsequently, I returned to
Roseburg every weekend to spend time with her, my friends, and my family who were impacted by
this event. I sacrificed my co curricular activities so that I could support my friends and family during
this time of crisis. Also, the event itself catalyzed a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By New Year s Eve, I was ready to take on the change in courses. Then the unthinkable happened.
On New Year s Day, three days before the start of Winter term, my grandfather passed away from a
combined heart attack and stroke. It was sudden and I had no idea what to do. It brought back my
depression, and I was on the brink of giving up entirely. Luckily and thankfully, my girlfriend and
family stepped in and pushed me to not give up and to seek counseling at CAPS. There has been a lot
of improvement which is elicited by my high honors completion of Winter term, my near completion
of Spring Term, and the many other things that have occurred since New Year s Day: Obtainment of
the Florence Gradon Ragen and Louis Brooks Ragen Scholarship and the Nicholas J. and Thea Yonker
Scholarship through the College of Liberal Arts, co founding Pearlwood Visions, LLC. with my
girlfriend through Google Startup Weekend: Roseburg, declaring pre education, and establishing two
internships this summer at UCC. Even though there is still residual depression from the events of this
past academic year, I am grateful for discovering that History acts as my antidepressant; for while I sit
in any of my history courses, read a primary source, or am writing a research paper are the only times
that I know I can get past this depression and be successful in my academics and future career.
As mentioned, I have not participated in any activities at OSU, but to accommodate for this, I

Examples Of Dehumanization In Apocalypse Now
Apocalypse Now Apocalypse Now is an examination of the dehumanizing effects of the vietnam war.
The film is based off of the novella Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. Francis Ford Coppola adapts
the underlying themes of evil and darkness into his main characters in Apocalypse Now. The film
follows the character of Captain Willard on his classified mission to find and take away the power of
Colonel Kurtz. In order to reach Kurtz, Captain Willard must travel up a river and into the heart of
darkness and the heart of the dehumanization of war. Coppola draws deep contrast between characters
in order to represent the difference between someone who is dehumanized and evil vs. someone who
is not. Every soldier is dehumanized to an extent but some are far more dehumanized than others. The
dehumanized characters are completely withdrawn from the outside world and can no longer live in
normal society. They are essentially stuck in war or their own kingdom of civilization where they rule.
It is not a coincidence that everyone on the boat that takes Willard up the river dies, except for Captain
Willard and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Captain Willard seems destined to take this mission and has no choice, really. The film portrays him as
a deranged and unstable man who cannot cope with the effects of the war and remove himself from
the war itself. He dances exotically in his room and smashes a mirror and cuts his hand at the
beginning of the film. Most will say this is sign of PTSD, Coppola has deeper motive than just PTSD.
Captain Willard is a dehumanized zombie of war. He is the perfect match to go find and kill Colonel
Kurtz, who is another dehumanized zombie who has moved away from the U.S. army and started his
own following of local natives. Willard is chosen for this mission for a reason, he is divided from
society and has truly been sucked into war. It is basically a death sentence to even travel that far up the

Feminism In Persepolis
All women in their lifetime go through an experience that makes them feel proud and dignified to be a
woman. Marjane Satrapi strives to find this feeling of self worth and the satisfaction of being a woman
in Iran as she grows up during her war torn childhood in her bildungsroman, Persepolis. Marjane
experiences both positive and negative moments throughout the memoir such as growing up alone in
Austria, speaking against women s dress codes, and her constant struggle to make her grandma proud,
all which help her learn independence and help form her into a strong feminist woman.
As Marjane experiences new ideas and culture once she moves to Austria as a teenager, she finds that
there are many things she doesn t agree with or understand. Fitting in as a teenager is hard enough
without having to deal with being stranded all alone, which is exactly what Satrapi had to endure for
years on end. During those years of growth, Marjane ran into many obstacles including her
relationship with boys and smoking. One of Marjane s first friends that she made while living in
Austria was the influence for much of her confusion when it came to social activities. Marjane was
surprised when she attended a party and it was the opposite of what parties were like in Iran where
there was dancing and food, instead people preferred to lie around and smoke (Satrapi 185). Almost
everything Marjane experienced in Austria was against how she was raised in Iran. Marjane thought to
herself, And then,

Phonological Awareness Paper
On January 30, 2018, at 2:00p.m., my newsletter presentation was given to four teachers in the
exceptional children s department at Douglas Byrd High School. It was important for me to review the
newsletter with my coworkers because our work team is currently in the process of gathering new
information for the start of the new semester which began on January 26, 2018. The age range of the
students in our department range from 15 19 years of age; however, because of their varied learning
disabilities and function levels, we use a lot of beginning reader teaching methods in an effort to work
more effectively with all of our students. The observation began with a review of what phonological
awareness means. According to Chard, D.J. Dickson, S.V. (2018), it is being aware of the fact that oral
language is made up of many smaller units, such as words and syllables. In order to be successful at
reading and writing language, an individual must develop skills in phonological awareness. Teaching
students to rhyme is very important also because it is one of the ways students show that they have an
awareness of phonological awareness. An example of rhyming is when a word is broken down by a
single letter or combination of letter sounds such as the word chop would be broken into the onset: ch
and rime: op. Students must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Why I Interned As A Quantitative Analyst At American...
I interned as a Quantitative Analyst at American Century Investment this summer, working with the
Disciplined Equity Research team to test, construct, and maintain a research library of stock selection
and design quantitative tools for evaluating and analyzing stocks during merger and acquisition
transactions. I took on significant responsibility, which provided me with a depth of knowledge and
expanded mu skills. My main project is focused on infrastructure, process, and factor analysis of
Factor Library.
Financial factor models are developed in an attempt to answer the question: What really generates
performance? Production Alpha models are rich and powerful, however, it is still a subset of
information that has return and risk implication, many other investment signals should not be ignored.
Therefore, the motivation of my project is to build, analyze, and monitor a factor library that satisfies
the following criteria: First, it has a rich set of factors covering full spectrum of alphas and risks;
second, it can be viewed as a robust and scalable platform that not only can build and maintain factors,
but also can be used to analyze factors behaviors and fund exposures. The goal of the project is to
trace insightful connection between the return of equity and the underlying factors to find out which
factors generate returns for stocks. A factor can be thought of as any characteristics relating a portfolio
of securities that is important in explaining their performance

The Canadian Arctic
What is the federal government s strategy to support its claims to sovereignty in the high Arctic?
The Canadian Arctic, one of the defining features of our vast landscape. It spans more than 40%
throughout our country and is home to more than 100,000 Canadians (Arctic, 2013). There is a variety
of climate and terrain throughout this region. The Arctic in general has ownership claims by many
countries including Canada, Denmark (including Greenland and the Faroe Islands), Finland, Iceland,
Norway, Russia, Sweden and the United States (Member States, 2011). All these countries claim that
they own parts of the Arctic but how valid are those claims? What and why does our government want
to claim parts of the Arctic? How valid are Canada s and other nation s claims to the Arctic?
Our claims to the north do have a basis and the law dictates that. According to the United Nations
Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), François Côté and Robert Dufresne a nation has the
right to claim 12 miles off the coast as that country s territory, however ships maintain a right to
innocent passage meaning that all ships can travel freely in those waters as long as there engaged in
peaceful passage (ex. Commercial ships). This means that 12 miles of the Arctic Archipelago belong
to Canada (2008). So legally we do own parts of the Arctic but what about after 12 miles? Well there
is another set of laws in the UNCLOS act. There is a 200 nautical mile Exclusive Economic Zone

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Starting A Joint Venture
As it has said, there are very good reasons to decide starting a Joint Venture. Joint ventures as a
strategic alliance between companies present lots of benefits for the different parties. They allow to
spread the risk between the venture partners. The co ventures agree to share profits and losses
depending on the risk taken by each of them. It allows flexibility due to its nature. Flexibility setting

The strategic alliance stablished in the first place should guide the analysis of success. Along the years
there have been lot of different approaches to this subject, the book International Joint Ventures:
Theory and Practice (Aimin Yang and Yadong Luo, 2001) explains a good amount of them. Therefore
depending on the aim of the Joint Venture it could be taken into account different indicators: increase
of profits, share R D expenses, market position, improvements in distribution channels, reducing of
overall costs, development of new technology, diversity of products, reduction of competition,
reduction of risks among others. There is no magic formula to measure the level of success of a Joint
Venture, each case has its own particularities and it has to be analyzed taking them into account. As a
general approach, the success of a Joint Venture should be determined by the distance between the

The Upper Class
Imagine wearing a shirt everyday that said poor in bold black font. The number of stares you would
get would be greater than if you wore a shirt that had money all over it. Upper and lower classes have
significantly influenced the attitudes of Americans with their differences. Both classes have values that
contrast in language and thought. Society has developed a prejudice towards those of the lower class
placing the blame on the individuals who are less fortunate. Theoretically, breaking the barrier
between two mutually exclusive binaries, high class and lower class, is the challenge we face
politically, economically, and socially. Those who belong to the upper class play a major role in
influencing leaders of the local, state, and national government. Opportunity is a key factor in both the
upper and lower class. Coming from a single mother, who was classified with the lower class,
opportunity is a vital factor in the household. My mother faithfully votes in the presidential elections
to ensure her voice will be heard indirectly. Generally, those of the upper class are dedicated to vote.
Failure to vote does not guarantee equal opportunity for the less fortunate. This goes not to say that the
lower class does not also value their own opinions however, voter efficacy influences their negative
thinking of influencing the government and politics. Working together to open all of society to endless
possibilities shall be a common value us Americans share. In

Rhetorical Analysis Of George W. Bush
The Iraq war was an issue that started in 2003 that had taken over America. Citizens were conflicted
with sending their own to a foreign country to solve an issue that had nothing to do with their own
nation. Four years later into the war, Senator Barack Obama and his constitutes attend a meeting
where Obama was to give a floor speech to George W. Bush. During the speech, Obama expresses the
use of Aristotle s Appeals, logos, pathos, and ethos, along with Kairos in order to convince the
president to pull their troops out of Iraq. One of the main rhetorical devices Obama uses throughout
the speech is pathos. He starts his argument off with a description of an ex soldier. He explains how he
is blind and how he has lost control of one arm due to the war. He follows up talking about his family
and how they adapt to dad s new lifestyle. Obama starts the speech off appealing to pathos. He creates
an emotional connection between his listeners and our Iraqi soldiers. He also creates a sense of
imagery by saying, Too many have returned from Iraq with broken bodies and shattered nerves and
wounds that even the best care may not heal... come home shrouded in the flag... moms and dads and
husbands and wives have answered that knock on the door, and it makes one reevaluate if it s all worth

Tthe Improtance of Note Taking
Note taking
Taking note is one of the best ways to prepare for exam. Reading different books, collecting
information from other sources and merging all the notes together helps to gives a clear image and
deeper understanding on specific topic. Using an outline format I try to get as much information as i
can in a piece of paper and record the lecture at the same time as the tutor will not wait for the student
to write notes down. Listening to the recorder again and again helps to reorganize my notes as well as
avoid confusion. Recall the new terms mentioned by the teacher while teaching in lesson as they
might be very important for the exam. While writing notes, I try to summarize each section on my
own word by using abbreviation, different font style, bullet points and diagrams. This helps me to
develop my shorthand making it easier to memorize. As well as the notes in lecture, I try using
different revision aids like revision guide books and different revision websites like www.s cool.co.uk
and www.revisionworld.co.uk. Revision guides are a very effective and good way of revising since
they are very straightforward ,compressive and has all the information that are essential to get a good
grade in an examination. Highlighting the crucial data using different highlighters while reading
different books and underline any stressed terms. Different colourful colours grasps my eyes attention

When Saturday Comes Along One Can Only Hope Hope For A
When Saturday comes along one can only hope hope for a lazy morning filled with back to back
episodes of cartoons. However, only in a perfect world can we watch back to back episodes without
commercial breaks. For children that world is non existent at the moment. Many times the
commercials that come after Phineas and ferb or Spongebob are as enjoyable as the show itself. It
seems like children enjoy keeping their eyes glued to the television screen more than they should.
According to Jennifer Pomeranz, , mentions that the FCT (Federal Trade Commision) defines children

This can be problematic because the ads children see after shows can shape all sorts of habits into
them : food preferences, norms, tastes, behaviors, and preferred portion sizes are established during
childhood and adolescence and are very difficult to change (Pomeranz). That is to say that the ads that
children see after shows can have profound impacts in a child s life. Watching a repetition of a sugary
cereal commercial can influence a child into buying that product when grocery shopping. Children are
power holders and can shape the buying habits of a family: two to fourteen year olds have sway over
500 billion a year in household purchasings (Calvert). Children really do hold power in a family. They
can become targets and fall under the influence of advertisers. In return, advertisers can make children
want needs that they don t really need. Therefore, conflict can arise when a child is denied a product
by a parent. There are some ads that can influence a child s buying habit while others can hammer in
trends into a child, influence certain actions or habits. Some commercials can become problematic for
children. For instance, the Pakistan Observer mentions that a television commercial of a biscuit
manufacturing company shows a youth jumping off an apartment to force his girlfriend to marry him

something I know many people can identify with but don t necessarily know how to deal with. Stress

amount of stimuli it was being bombarded with. Saying I was overwhelmed is a gross understatement.
That didn t even begin to describe how I was feeling. I always felt like I never had enough time, like I
never had enough energy. I felt as if I was being pulled into several different directions. My body was
having a difficult time adjusting and adapting to the changes of work in my new environment. When I

I was more susceptible to sickness and I had grown increasingly frustrated and irritable. Pain
exhaustion, irritability, and anxiety is what I associated with stress. I realized the correlation between
my stress and terrible tensions my body experienced. The more stressed I was the more tension I

What is 1080?
1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) is a poisonous chemical. Used in many areas of New Zealand, yet it
causes a devastating amount of damage harms many areas of New Zealand.
What is 1080 used for
1080 is a poison used to protect the threats to native animals and plants from introduced species. The
pest control poison is effective in killing these introduced species which kill our native animals/plants
especially rats, stoats and possums.
Mainly found in vegetation lands, it prevents pests from eating healthy crops and native animals.
However, 1080 is a hazard to children, dogs, and many other animals. This potential hazard can spread
to bodies of water and can be present in a specific areas for an extravagant amount of time. This
danger makes 1080 an unethical choice for controlling pests.
Recently, in 2015, a nationwide scare was put on Fonterra Baby Formula. An anonymous letter sent to
major news corporations (residing in New Zealand) threatened the safety of the baby formula.
Included was baby formula laced with 1080 hazardous pest control poison as well as a threat to lace

Nueva Granada, now known as Colombia, covered a vast majority of northwest South America. Until
Spain colonized Nueva Granada, the individual tribes had successful government and social

changes in every aspect of their lives can be shown by looking at how Colombia was before, during,

Is College Really Free Essay
Is anything in life really free? If college is free, what is the point of trying to work hard and to try to
go above beyond? Free tuition colleges could make college seem less important (Lobosco). It would
make it seem less important because if a student fail one year the student will not have to pay for the
next year or the year after that. The students could just keep failing. The reasons behind why college
tuition should not be free is because of how taxes would be raised, how it would still not be
completely free, and how scholarships can help make it free. First of all, it is not actually free
someone has to pay for it. If there were did have free tuition colleges, the state and federal government
would have to make a few changes. The changes could include raising taxes, decreasing military
budget, closing tax loopholes, increasing taxes more for the wealthy, new taxes on speculative Wall

Music Tempo s Effect on Heart Rate Essay
Introduction Being a college student in this day in age is never easy. We are always on the move and
become stressed very easily. One of the ways students deal with the pressure of ongoing assignments,
papers, and various projects is to simply listen to music. Music is very popular to our specific age
group, but is consuming different styles of music necessarily a healthy alternate to the stress? How
does music affect the heart rate and what different types of music have a greater affect on heart rate?
Music most definitely has emotional value. Heart rate can be directly influenced by these emotional
changes. Our group decided to test music tempo s effect on heart rate. This experiment is relevant to
one s health because it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As you can see form Chart B, we calculated percent change between the different types of music.
When our subjects listened to heavy metal music, their heart rates increased on average. When our
subjects listened to classical music, their heart rates decreased on average, below resting heart rate.
Our tables do not show the negative side of the spectrum, but still show the percent change in heart
rate, which is what we were trying to accomplish. Due to classical music actually lowering heart rate,
our hypothesis was not proven complete. Relate back to our hypothesis. We hypothesized that fast
tempo music would increase heart rates while slower paced music will keep heart rate at about the
same. Still, if you relate back to the table and Chart A, we have still conducted positive evidence to
prove that music does play a role in a change of heart rates. Each subject did experience a change in
heart rate, both positive and negative. This experiment does relate back to the original real world issue
of heart rate. Being able to understand how to control heart rate is very important. If someone has
heart problems or an irregular heart beat they need to be aware of certain music that could potentially
be harmful to them. Like wise, if someone were trying to be in a good mood or simply be hyper, they
would enjoy listening to high

Risk Factors For Cardiovascular Disease
Critical Analysis
Introduction
Hypertension impacts nearly 25% of the adult population around the world. It is considered one of the
foremost risk factors for mortality, and is responsible for 13.5% of all deaths. In addition, half of all
strokes and ischemic cardiac disease are triggered from high blood pressure (Pepin et al.2014).
According to the newest guidelines, hypertension is defined as a systolic blood pressure greater than
or equal to 140 or a diastolic blood pressure greater than or equal to 90 (Jin, 2014). Systemic
hypertension remains one of the most modifiable risk factors for cardiovascular disease. In
hypertensive patients, between 12% 27% require at least 3 medications to achieve sufficient control;
these patients are considered to have resistant hypertension. Furthermore, those with resistant
hypertension have a 50% greater chance of experiencing a cardiovascular event in comparison to
those without resistant hypertension, and according to the literature, the numbers of cases are
increasing (Martinez Garcia et al. 2013). As of recent, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) has been
recognized as a risk factor in the development of hypertension according to European and US
International guidelines (Pepin et al. 2014). Obstructive sleep apnea is characterized by the collapse of
the upper airway during sleep, consequently ending in intermittent asphyxia. Moreover, this disruption
increases brain arousal, transient hypoxemia, and increased sympathetic flow.

Beethoven Essay
The rise of Ludwig van Beethoven into the rank of history s greatest composers was paralleled by and
in some ways a consequence of his own personal tragedy and despair.
Beethoven s family was of the Flemish origin. His mother, Maria Magdalena, died after a long illness
when Beethoven was only 17. He was not the only child in this family though. He had 2 brothers and
1 sister, both to which were disorganized and unruly. His family was always in constant need of funds.
Beethoven showed his extraordinary musical talent at an early age. His father hoped he could induce
his child s development and make him more like Mozart, and possibly bring in some money for the
family which was desperately in need.

He began to study with other teachers and soon became very popular in Vienna. Some were pleased
with his performances, but others were embarrassed by his arrogance and bad manners.
In the late 1790 s, Beethoven discovered an increasing buzzing and humming in his ears and it sent
him into panic, searching for a cure. In 1802, he wrote a letter to his brother describing his anguish.
He asked his brother to read the letter at the funeral. His suffering had a brief respite when he soon fell
in love with a young countess, and dedicated a song to her called Moonlight Sonata . Even after this,
she did not marry Beethoven.
By October 1802, he had written the Heiligenstadt Testament confessing his deafness, and suicidal
considerations.
By about 1800, Beethoven was mastering the Viennese High Classic style. Although Mozart had first
perfected the style, Beethoven did extend it to some degree. Having displayed a wide range of his
piano writing, he was also beginning to forge a new voice for the violin.
Beethoven s deafness landed him into a major cycle of depression. In his Testament, he reveals his
malaise that was sending him to the edge of despair. He speaks of suicide in the same breath as a
reluctance to die. Having searched vainly for a

Essay On Fetal Viability
Countries, cultures and different societies around the world have different views on the question of
when life begins. Some believe that life begins the moment an egg is fertilized by a sperm (Kelly,
1995, p. 65). In Great Britain abortion is currently legal up until the end of the 24th week of gestation
(BBC Ethics, 2014). Unfortunately neither side of the debate can draw much support upon this topic
and there is no definitive answer given from medical, philosophical and religious theories and
ideologies. It is all a matter of opinion (Kelly, 1995). The topic then begs the question of fetal
viability. There have been developments that complicate some of the issues of fetal viability. Fetal
viability is known as the point at which a fetus can survive outside of the mother s womb (Nursing
Times, 2014). There have always been opposition surrounding the 24th week limit from the pro life
movement, they want the abortion time limit to be lowered. Since the ... Show more content on

Christians believe for example that a fetus is a human being that deserves the same respect and
acknowledgment as any living human being. (Acred, 2012, p. 22). According to the Roman Catholic
Church life starts when the egg is fertilized by the sperm. The Church of England and Scotland allow
abortion if it threatens the life of the mother. (Eggbrolen, 1990, p. 33). The Buddhist faith teaches that
human life begins with conception and abortion is going against their teachings. The law of the
Buddhist faith states no killing or harm should come to any living thing including a fetus (Bacon,
2004, p. 16). Hinduism states that an abortion is forbidden except in the time when the life of the
mother is in danger (Kelly, 1995, p. 265). Islamic teachings state that the soil enters the fetus after 120
days after conception and abortion is only allowed in extreme cases and early abortion is preferred

complete most of their objectives, thanks to the efforts of the French Resistance. Because the
Resistance had cut phone lines, the German chain of command was disrupted, and they could not get a
firm hold on the battle. At 7:00 am, the time appointed as H Hour, the amphibious invasion began. The
bombardment was to end and the invasions begin at the same time. The bombers finished on time, but
the landing equipment ran late, giving the Germans a little bit of time to prepare for the invasion. Juno
beach was invaded by the Canadian 3rd Infantry and their success there is a matter of great Canadian
national pride.

Nashua Plainfield Reflection
Throughout my schooling at Nashua Plainfield I have taken initiative in many ways. I was apart of the
student council, FCCLA treasure, and was the captain on my softball team. I felt I learned the most
about being a leader in softball. In softball I felt as if there was two ways to be a leader, on the field,
and off the field in the dugout. I was a leader in the filed, by talking. Talking is a major part of
softball. You constantly have to be aware about where the ball is and what you are going to do with it
if it comes to you. You need to talk about where the runners are and what the plays are depending on
where the ball is. I was a leader in the dugout by picking my teammates up. It s hot, your loosing, you
just struck out, your awesome drive

Why Did The President Trump Give More Power
Eventually, on March 27th, along with other disapproval s from the CRA, the President signed H.J.
Res. 44 into law. When Trump took office, he talked about giving more power to the people, and he
supposedly did that through this resolution. Instead of allowing the BLM to have the ultimate say, it
gives more power to corporations. Similarly to signing the Stream Protection disapproval, Trumps
motive in his signing was to deregulate America in hopes of more jobs. Paul Larkin, a research for the
Heritage Foundation claimed, During the presidential campaign, President Trump expressed concern
that overregulation has handicapped industry s ability to maintain existing jobs and generate new ones,
(Larken). By limiting the BLM authority, some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On, Nov. 14, 2000, President Clinton s Occupational Safety and Health Administration finalized an
ergonomics regulation meant to reduce instances of wrist pain, back problems, and other injuries
stemming from repetitive tasks at work. Republicans controlled both chambers at this point, but in
order to nullify the rule means 2/3 of both chambers would have to support the congressional veto.
But in 2001, George W. Bush was sworn in as President. Republicans then had control of both
chambers of Congress and the Presidency. Therefore, because the ergonomic regulation fell into the 60
day window, through the CRA, Congress and Bush could override the regulation. After Bush signed
the disapproval into law, he states, This resolution is a good and proper use of the [Congressional
Review] Act because the different branches of our Government need to be held accountable. There
needs to be a balance between and an understanding of the costs and benefits associated with Federal
regulations, (Agragna). Even though the Bush administration didn t use the CRA as a way to regulate
his executive branch, many claim this was a good use of the congressional device, but Trump signing
14 CRA resolutions that repealed his predecessor s work proves how law making is becoming more
unorthodox. The CRA is definitely not a very well known tool used to make legislation. In fact, Emily

her legs so she can balance the coffee and be able to add her sugar and cream in her coffee. Her hand
slip and hit the cup of coffee and the coffee slip on her thighs and she suffered severe third degree

Infant Trauma
There are many types of trauma that people experience everyday in our world. People can do awful
things to each other, including violence, abuse, and neglect. Accidents happen that leave us feeling
distressed. Some threaten our sense of safety and connection. These are all experiences that take time
to heal and recover from. We must find a way to reconcile the life we had before it happened and the
life as we know it after a tragic event. The pain of the memories alone can be devastating. It takes time
and support to find a sense of self again, to feel safe in the world again. But what if the trauma
happened before life ever really began? Is there any lasting effect on a person that was merely an
infant when the trauma was experienced? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The other form of memory is declarative memory (also known as explicit or late memory). It stores
sequential and contextual events, as well as factual knowledge that can be articulated (Paley Alpert,
2003). Procedural memories are also described and indelible and are, therefore, engraved in your brain
and body for life. Other types of memories that are described in more detail and are classified as non
verbal are categorized as behavioral memory, somatic somatosensory memory, and visual memory.
Behavioral memories can be seen in play therapy where the child will actually be able to act out their
experiences with dolls. Somatic somatosensory memory presentation is particularly relevant to
traumatized newborns or very young infants, who may perceive trauma predominantly as concrete
sensory perceptions (Paley Alpert, 2003). All of this research tells me that we need to broaden out
ways of thinking of memory. It is not simply a process in which, if you can tell me what happened,
then you remember it, if you can t, then you simply have no memory of the event. As we have
discussed in class and in Discussion Board, your body remembers. It makes sense that we can extend
this concept to pre memory infancy or childhood. To consider the impact these traumatic events can
have on a person s life, we must investigate how they can change development. Paley and Alpert

Freedom Riders
One of the sit ins in Nashville, Tennessee caught the attention of many. The students involved were
beaten but refused to fight back. But 81 demonstrators were arrested anyways for disorderly conduct.
This arrest caught lots of attention from many people. One of the student leaders, Diane Nash, led
3,000 protesters in the one of the first major marches in this time period. She led this to challenge
mayor, Ben West., to take a stand at the segregation that was going on. They accomplished what they
wanted because they caught the attention they needed. Within a month Nashville became one of the
first cities in the south to desegregation their public places. News went around about what happened in
Nashville and people in other places got to see ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This group included both African Americans and whites. In 1961, thirteen African Americans and
whites that were part of the freedom riders had left Washington, DC by bus. They left to test how well
the bus companies in the South were following the integration laws. They were going to ride to New
Orleans, Louisiana. The route would pass through many cites in the South. The Freedom Riders had
not a lot of trouble until they had gotten to Alabama. The Freedom Riders faced an angry mob in
Birmingham. The mob had burned their bus and also attacked some of the members and some were
really injured. After this the group gave up and escaped by plane to New Orleans. Some of the
members that were in Nashville that had been following their progress had gotten really upset that the
group just gave up. So because of this a new group of the Freedom Riders that was in Nashville left
and went out to continue the journey of the others. Again they had gotten attacked by a mob in
Montgomery. The president at the time, John F. Kennedy, heard about the news and wanted to protect
them but also didn t want the whites to get angry also. So the president s brother Robert Kennedy, who
was also the U.S Attorney General, sent 400 U.S marshals to keep the peace in Montgomery and
escort the freedom Riders to safety. This helped the Freedom Riders but this was not

Report On The s Pitch Farming Has Cost His Team About Ten...
Wellington Castillo is not a good pitch framer. Ryan wrote an article
(http://camdendepot.blogspot.com/2016/12/welington castillo orioles free agent hot stove
framing.html) last week discussing how Castillo s pitch farming has cost his team about ten runs per
season. Jeff Sullivan argued (http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/welington castillo isnt the orioles best
catcher/) that Castillo isn t the Orioles best catcher due to his poor pitch framing ability. Nick Cicere
wrote an interesting article for Camden Chat (http://www.camdenchat.com/2016/12/15/13962950/new

how Castillo struggles with framing. But just because Castillo struggles with framing, ... Show more

It s safe to say that this dataset indicates that Castillo is pretty terrible when it comes to framing
pitches up in the zone.
He s not much better relatively speaking when it comes to the middle of the zone. This data portal
ranks his defense from 2014 2016 as yet again the worst out of all 103 qualified catchers with a 11.75
framing value. Yet again, it makes little difference whether pitchers throw the ball inside or outside.
His best year in the three year sample was in 2016, when he ranked 73rd out of 76 qualified catchers.
Let me reiterate that this data portal ranks Castillo s defense most favorably. It s safe to say that this
dataset thinks little of Castillo s ability to frame pitches in the middle of the zone.
Castillo excels when it comes to framing pitches in the bottom of the zone. From 2014 2016, his
framing ability is ranked 28th out of 103 with a 6.32 value. He has pretty poor results framing pitches
in the inside part of the zone, ranking only 70th out of 103 with a 1.33 value. However, he ranks 27th
out of 103 framing pitches low and away with a 3.03 pitch framing value and ranks 13th out of 103
framing pitches that are just low but in the middle of the plate with a 4.63 pitch framing value.
In addition, Castillo has shown improvement at framing pitches low in the zone each year. He ranked
12th out of 76 in 2016 (+9 runs), 29th out of 67 in 2015 (+2.1 runs) and

  • 2. A New Way to Read and Study the Bible in Michael Joseph... Michael Joseph Brown, unveils new ways to read and examine the Bible in his book, titled What They Don t Tell You: A Survivor s Guide to Biblical Studies . Although quite technical, the guide, not book, really goes into depth on the process of studying the Bible and its documents. Brown has a new and refreshing way of giving the reader this information that is necessary in a small group, or for a Biblical scholar. This guide is not meant solely for the biblical scholar and talks in detail about the difference between these two, because some may link the two together. Published by the Westminster John Knox Press, WJK for short, this book gives straight forward answers on the best way to thoroughly understand Biblical text. As you read on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though they both may be considered educational settings, Brown explains that one s best first approach to Biblical Scholarship is to approach it with the same mind frame that one might possess when in any other scholarly class. Brown also mentions the many different methods of interpreting the Bible. In addition to the foundation of modern biblical Scholarship , the historical critical method, readers will discover several other methods. Readers will get the opportunity to read up on the process of each method and compare both the advantages and disadvantages. Brown then, strategically, works into a sub chapter titled A Primer on Biblical basics which includes topics such as the creation of the Bible itself, the languages of the Bible and chapter and verse divisions. Brown even includes the significance of the use of italics. Finally, Brown concludes the first chapter with a sub chapter titled How Can I Prepare for the Process of Academic Biblical Study? A very basic question that packs quite a punch as this question is a foundation for enduring Biblical Scholarship. Brown dictates to readers the fact that they should be prepared to give up the mind frame that always asks how something applies to their personal life. He later talks about the fact that the words what I believe will only further one from being a real benefactor of Biblical Study. All in all, Brown suggests that one entering the world of Biblical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Giving Back To A Community Analysis As someone who strongly believes in the value of community, giving back is the least I can do. From an early age, I was taught that giving back to others is one of the greatest joys in life. When I was a child, my parents and I made care packages of cooked food and fruits and vegetables and delivered them to people who were in desperate need in a slum of Tehran. Seeing their smiles and eagerness to reach those packages was both the best and the worst feeling of my life. I made me happy that I could bring smiles to their faces and maybe a little bit of hope to some families, but I was saddened as I witnessed the tragic lives of so many people. Colonial Wars and Fiscal Crises 1. Rivalry among the European powers intensified in the early 1600s as the Dutch Attacked Spanish and Portuguese possessions in the Americas and in Asia. In the 1600s and 1700s the British then checked Dutch commercial and colonial ambitions and went on to defeat France in the Seven Years War (1756 1763) and take over French colonial possessions in the Americas and in India. 2. Frontiers and Taxes 1.After 1763, the British government faced two problems in its North American colonies: the danger of war with the Amerindians as colonists pushed west across the Appalachians, and the need to raise more taxes from the colonists in order to pay the increasing costs of colonial administration and defense. British attempts to impose new taxes or to prevent further westward settlement provoked protests in the colonies. 2.In the Great Lakes region, British policies undermined the Amerindian economy and provoked a series of Amerindian raids on the settled areas of Pennsylvania and Virginia. The Amerindian alliance that carried out these raids was defeated within a year. Fear of more violence led the British to establish a western limit for settlement in the Proclamation of 1763 and to slow down settlement of the regions north of the Ohio and east of the Mississippi in the Quebec Act of 1774. 3.The British government tried to ... • 6. Business Complexity And Guided Change Essay Business complexity and socio technical uncertainty are two change methods. Choosing one over the other depends on the situation. For example, business complexity can be a large organization with many components. These can include diverse teams, stakeholders, and products. With this type of organization, using the guided change method would be most beneficial. Guided change is an iterative process. It is good when multiple stakeholders need to make decesions. They can be changed in direction due to the complexity of the organization. This includes considering guided change when the change affects different business units and hierarchical rank. Socio technical uncertainty is the information and decesions needed to make a change. In this environment, the processes and work are exactly known to the organization. Based on the extent to which the tasks involved are determined, established, or exactly known (Buono and Kerber, 2010, p.8). The work tasks are open and the work processes can be repeated easily between team members. In this environment, employees can be directed to follow changes. In this case, the guided approach is appropriate. Change starts at the top, employees are directed to new directions, and the change leadership is notified then command. 2. Building change capacity (and readiness) in organizations is, according to this article, a key condition for sustainable organizational change. • 7. Van Gogh And Gauguin The discussion that took place during week three focused broadly on comparing the differences in vision, personality and ideas of the primitive between Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Gauguin. These differences were investigated through their working relationship, as shown by their letters of correspondence, and the art each artist produced during this time. The group discussed comparisons between Van Gogh s plan and almost obsession with making the Studio of the South work and Gauguin s wanderlust that kept him moving. The ideal studio of both Gauguin and Van Gogh opened up discussion further to what aspects of the primitive each painter was influenced by in their attempted creation of a utopian working space. A Discussion again focused on comparing the two saying how the preference of Brittany versus Arles says much about how their creative process differed. Gauguin s rarely depicts his subject matter with descriptive accuracy instead he takes a place and abstracts the savage and primitive quality that he is searching for. Brittany offers Gauguin not only a rocky savagery in its landscape but allows him to abstract a medieval primitivism from the people in the area due to their Catholic devotion and less modern lifestyle. In his letter to Gauguin in September 1888, Gauguin describes the figures in Vision After the Sermon, as him achieving a great rustic and superstitious simplicity saying that the people are less civilized due to their Catholic devotion, and thus more spiritual. Arles offered Van Gogh a calm sunny place in nature that can act as a monastery for him. A quote by Childs was brought up that, Arles was caught somewhere between a French agrarian village and a modern city This caused issue for Gauguin who didn t want any of that modernity, as shown by him often leaving out signs of civilization in his tropical landscapes. • 8. Scapegoat-Simba In The Lion King Watching The Lion King as a child, you see it as a tale of a young lion cub going through highs and lows and in the end defeating the villain and saving the day. But looking deeper, you see that the storyline has much more to it. It s about the young lion cub Simba, who is the next in line to be king, who is taught by his father Mufasa. This leads to Mufasa s brother, Scar, to create a realistic conflict, in which he kills his own brother and generates a scapegoat Simba by blaming him, giving him thoughts that everyone will be disappointed for the reason that it was his fault. This, in turn, causes the young cub to feel ostracized from his pride, leading him to run away. Simba meets up with a meerkat (Timon) and a warthog (Pumba), to which he conforms to their way of thinking as they raise him. After Scar filled Simba s head with thoughts of his mother and the pride being disappointed and not accepting him for murdering his father, Simba flees, in shame of being ostracized. Ostracism is the deliberate social exclusion of individuals or groups(Module 29, 2016). As a child I loved reading and it was something I did every day without even thinking about it. However, due to negative experiences in school I lost my love for reading and it was something I grew up resenting. I am so delighted to be redeveloping my love for reading because I forgot just how relaxing it was and how digging into a good book can make you feel as if you are one of the characters in the story. I think my love of reading as a child developed because my mom read to me. It was something I did every night. However, once Scholastic Reader tests started my love of reading changed into resentment for reading, as I was never able to read what I wanted. As soon as my book options were taken from me and I was forced to only read books I could take tests on I just stopped reading. This is a trend that happened all throughout middle school because I was required to take Scholastic tests every single year through eighth grade. Then once high school came along I was still so angry and had such animosity towards reading I never got back into it. My early experiences really impacted the reader I have become. Due to the fact I stopped reading I went from a strong reader to a not as strong reader. Also, not being a reader has impacted the literate person I am. • 10. Comparison Of March Of The Penguins And Happy Feet In the films March of the Penguins and Happy Feet we get the essentially the same story both times. The movies try to depict the life of a penguin and the struggles that they deal with. In both cases the audience is going to walk away thinking that they have received this. However, March of the Penguins is a genuine display of a penguin s life while Happy Feet feeds us a happy cartoon. Another thing to consider here is the audience that might be attending each film. In this case a child is going to be much more pleased with Happy Feet for obvious reasons, while an adult might enjoy the experience of knowing how a penguin actually lives in the wild. It is an act that is taking place in front of the camera and just being captured. There are usually no special effects and no one is manipulating the scene. During this film when the egg falls onto the ice it is a very real thing happening. Inside the egg is a live penguin of some sort and it is actually dying on film. While it is very sad, it is nature taking its course with no human intervention and regardless if it was captured or not this egg would still have frozen while the parent looked on helplessly. These are not people waddling around in costumes or a special effects egg that is made to represent the real thing, it is real life. There is no recreating or acting out a moment like this which is why this is easily viewed as a realist film. That is where mise en scene comes into play. Everything that you do see is without a doubt real and not a constructed set. They didn t just kill penguins to throw on camera and they didn t bring in stuffed ones either. They simply recorded what they saw and found. Everything from the blistering cold winds to the layers upon layers of snow dropped upon the enormous flock of birds is authentic. Even the lighting and sounds around them is what the crew is forced to work with, no one on this earth can change a blizzard just because they want to get a better shot for a movie. It s something that would be very difficult to recreate and equally difficult to capture. The only effect that humans add is the Voice of god that Morgan Freeman is giving to us. This man is never seen on screen and is never mentioned throughout but he knows exactly what is going on and also he is very knowledgeable about the unfolding events. This voice seemingly comes out of nowhere and that is why it is referred to as such. • 14. Examples Of Dehumanization In Apocalypse Now Apocalypse Now Apocalypse Now is an examination of the dehumanizing effects of the vietnam war. The film is based off of the novella Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. Francis Ford Coppola adapts the underlying themes of evil and darkness into his main characters in Apocalypse Now. The film follows the character of Captain Willard on his classified mission to find and take away the power of Colonel Kurtz. In order to reach Kurtz, Captain Willard must travel up a river and into the heart of darkness and the heart of the dehumanization of war. Coppola draws deep contrast between characters in order to represent the difference between someone who is dehumanized and evil vs. someone who is not. Every soldier is dehumanized to an extent but some are far more dehumanized than others. The dehumanized characters are completely withdrawn from the outside world and can no longer live in normal society. They are essentially stuck in war or their own kingdom of civilization where they rule. Marjane Satrapi strives to find this feeling of self worth and the satisfaction of being a woman in Iran as she grows up during her war torn childhood in her bildungsroman, Persepolis. Marjane experiences both positive and negative moments throughout the memoir such as growing up alone in Austria, speaking against women s dress codes, and her constant struggle to make her grandma proud, all which help her learn independence and help form her into a strong feminist woman. As Marjane experiences new ideas and culture once she moves to Austria as a teenager, she finds that there are many things she doesn t agree with or understand. Fitting in as a teenager is hard enough without having to deal with being stranded all alone, which is exactly what Satrapi had to endure for years on end. During those years of growth, Marjane ran into many obstacles including her relationship with boys and smoking. One of Marjane s first friends that she made while living in Austria was the influence for much of her confusion when it came to social activities. Marjane was surprised when she attended a party and it was the opposite of what parties were like in Iran where there was dancing and food, instead people preferred to lie around and smoke (Satrapi 185). It was important for me to review the newsletter with my coworkers because our work team is currently in the process of gathering new information for the start of the new semester which began on January 26, 2018. The age range of the students in our department range from 15 19 years of age; however, because of their varied learning disabilities and function levels, we use a lot of beginning reader teaching methods in an effort to work more effectively with all of our students. The observation began with a review of what phonological awareness means. According to Chard, D.J. Dickson, S.V. (2018), it is being aware of the fact that oral language is made up of many smaller units, such as words and syllables. In order to be successful at reading and writing language, an individual must develop skills in phonological awareness. Teaching students to rhyme is very important also because it is one of the ways students show that they have an awareness of phonological awareness. I interned as a Quantitative Analyst at American Century Investment this summer, working with the Disciplined Equity Research team to test, construct, and maintain a research library of stock selection and design quantitative tools for evaluating and analyzing stocks during merger and acquisition transactions. I took on significant responsibility, which provided me with a depth of knowledge and expanded mu skills. My main project is focused on infrastructure, process, and factor analysis of Factor Library. Financial factor models are developed in an attempt to answer the question: What really generates performance? Production Alpha models are rich and powerful, however, it is still a subset of information that has return and risk implication, many other investment signals should not be ignored. Therefore, the motivation of my project is to build, analyze, and monitor a factor library that satisfies the following criteria: First, it has a rich set of factors covering full spectrum of alphas and risks; second, it can be viewed as a robust and scalable platform that not only can build and maintain factors, but also can be used to analyze factors behaviors and fund exposures. The goal of the project is to trace insightful connection between the return of equity and the underlying factors to find out which factors generate returns for stocks. It spans more than 40% throughout our country and is home to more than 100,000 Canadians (Arctic, 2013). There is a variety of climate and terrain throughout this region. The Arctic in general has ownership claims by many countries including Canada, Denmark (including Greenland and the Faroe Islands), Finland, Iceland, Norway, Russia, Sweden and the United States (Member States, 2011). All these countries claim that they own parts of the Arctic but how valid are those claims? What and why does our government want to claim parts of the Arctic? How valid are Canada s and other nation s claims to the Arctic? Our claims to the north do have a basis and the law dictates that. According to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), François Côté and Robert Dufresne a nation has the right to claim 12 miles off the coast as that country s territory, however ships maintain a right to innocent passage meaning that all ships can travel freely in those waters as long as there engaged in peaceful passage (ex. Commercial ships). This means that 12 miles of the Arctic Archipelago belong to Canada (2008). So legally we do own parts of the Arctic but what about after 12 miles? Upper and lower classes have significantly influenced the attitudes of Americans with their differences. Both classes have values that contrast in language and thought. Society has developed a prejudice towards those of the lower class placing the blame on the individuals who are less fortunate. Theoretically, breaking the barrier between two mutually exclusive binaries, high class and lower class, is the challenge we face politically, economically, and socially. Those who belong to the upper class play a major role in influencing leaders of the local, state, and national government. Opportunity is a key factor in both the upper and lower class. Coming from a single mother, who was classified with the lower class, opportunity is a vital factor in the household. It is considered one of the foremost risk factors for mortality, and is responsible for 13.5% of all deaths. In addition, half of all strokes and ischemic cardiac disease are triggered from high blood pressure (Pepin et al.2014). According to the newest guidelines, hypertension is defined as a systolic blood pressure greater than or equal to 140 or a diastolic blood pressure greater than or equal to 90 (Jin, 2014). Systemic hypertension remains one of the most modifiable risk factors for cardiovascular disease. This work practically destroyed the French transportation system, removing the Germans ability to send reinforcements for the attack. The night before D Day, three airborne units, the 101st and 82nd American Airborne Divisions and the 6th British Airborne Division were meant to be deployed to areas south of the beach. Their mission was to clear the way for the troops by eliminating various obstacles. However, due to the weather the mission was not fully successful. The 82nd, to be dropped near the town of Sainte Mère Eglise, were scattered throughout the countryside. The 101st s mission was to drop south of Utah Beach to secure roads and bridges at Carentan. Unfortunately, many of the paratroopers were dropped into the water and drowned. However, the troops were able to regroup to complete most of their objectives, thanks to the efforts of the French Resistance. Because the Resistance had cut phone lines, the German chain of command was disrupted, and they could not get a firm hold on the battle. At 7:00 am, the time appointed as H Hour, the amphibious invasion began. The bombardment was to end and the invasions begin at the same time. The bombers finished on time, but the landing equipment ran late, giving the Germans a little bit of time to prepare for the invasion. I was apart of the student council, FCCLA treasure, and was the captain on my softball team. I felt I learned the most about being a leader in softball. In softball I felt as if there was two ways to be a leader, on the field, and off the field in the dugout. I was a leader in the filed, by talking. Talking is a major part of softball. You constantly have to be aware about where the ball is and what you are going to do with it if it comes to you. You need to talk about where the runners are and what the plays are depending on where the ball is. I was a leader in the dugout by picking my teammates up. • 44. Why Did The President Trump Give More Power Eventually, on March 27th, along with other disapproval s from the CRA, the President signed H.J. Res. 44 into law. When Trump took office, he talked about giving more power to the people, and he supposedly did that through this resolution. Instead of allowing the BLM to have the ultimate say, it gives more power to corporations. Similarly to signing the Stream Protection disapproval, Trumps motive in his signing was to deregulate America in hopes of more jobs. Paul Larkin, a research for the Heritage Foundation claimed, During the presidential campaign, President Trump expressed concern that overregulation has handicapped industry s ability to maintain existing jobs and generate new ones, (Larken). By limiting the BLM authority, some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On, Nov. 14, 2000, President Clinton s Occupational Safety and Health Administration finalized an ergonomics regulation meant to reduce instances of wrist pain, back problems, and other injuries stemming from repetitive tasks at work. Republicans controlled both chambers at this point, but in order to nullify the rule means 2/3 of both chambers would have to support the congressional veto. But in 2001, George W. Bush was sworn in as President. Republicans then had control of both chambers of Congress and the Presidency. Therefore, because the ergonomic regulation fell into the 60 day window, through the CRA, Congress and Bush could override the regulation. After Bush signed the disapproval into law, he states, This resolution is a good and proper use of the [Congressional Review] Act because the different branches of our Government need to be held accountable. There needs to be a balance between and an understanding of the costs and benefits associated with Federal regulations, (Agragna). Even though the Bush administration didn t use the CRA as a way to regulate his executive branch, many claim this was a good use of the congressional device, but Trump signing 14 CRA resolutions that repealed his predecessor s work proves how law making is becoming more unorthodox. The CRA is definitely not a very well known tool used to make legislation. In fact, Emily Gertz calls ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Infant Trauma There are many types of trauma that people experience everyday in our world. People can do awful things to each other, including violence, abuse, and neglect. Accidents happen that leave us feeling distressed. Some threaten our sense of safety and connection. These are all experiences that take time to heal and recover from. We must find a way to reconcile the life we had before it happened and the life as we know it after a tragic event. The pain of the memories alone can be devastating. It takes time and support to find a sense of self again, to feel safe in the world again. But what if the trauma happened before life ever really began? Is there any lasting effect on a person that was merely an infant when the trauma was experienced? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The other form of memory is declarative memory (also known as explicit or late memory). It stores sequential and contextual events, as well as factual knowledge that can be articulated (Paley Alpert, 2003). Procedural memories are also described and indelible and are, therefore, engraved in your brain and body for life. Other types of memories that are described in more detail and are classified as non verbal are categorized as behavioral memory, somatic somatosensory memory, and visual memory. Behavioral memories can be seen in play therapy where the child will actually be able to act out their experiences with dolls. Somatic somatosensory memory presentation is particularly relevant to traumatized newborns or very young infants, who may perceive trauma predominantly as concrete sensory perceptions (Paley Alpert, 2003). All of this research tells me that we need to broaden out ways of thinking of memory. It is not simply a process in which, if you can tell me what happened, then you remember it, if you can t, then you simply have no memory of the event. As we have discussed in class and in Discussion Board, your body remembers. It makes sense that we can extend this concept to pre memory infancy or childhood. To consider the impact these traumatic events can have on a person s life, we must investigate how they can change development. Paley and Alpert ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the student leaders, Diane Nash, led 3,000 protesters in the one of the first major marches in this time period. She led this to challenge mayor, Ben West., to take a stand at the segregation that was going on. They accomplished what they wanted because they caught the attention they needed. In 1961, thirteen African Americans and whites that were part of the freedom riders had left Washington, DC by bus. They left to test how well the bus companies in the South were following the integration laws. They were going to ride to New Orleans, Louisiana. The route would pass through many cites in the South. The Freedom Riders had not a lot of trouble until they had gotten to Alabama. The Freedom Riders faced an angry mob in Birmingham. The mob had burned their bus and also attacked some of the members and some were really injured. After this the group gave up and escaped by plane to New Orleans. Some of the members that were in Nashville that had been following their progress had gotten really upset that the group just gave up. So because of this a new group of the Freedom Riders that was in Nashville left and went out to continue the journey of the others. Again they had gotten attacked by a mob in Montgomery. The president at the time, John F. Kennedy, heard about the news and wanted to protect them but also didn t want the whites to get angry also. It s safe to say that this dataset indicates that Castillo is pretty terrible when it comes to framing pitches up in the zone. He s not much better relatively speaking when it comes to the middle of the zone. This data portal ranks his defense from 2014 2016 as yet again the worst out of all 103 qualified catchers with a 11.75 framing value. Yet again, it makes little difference whether pitchers throw the ball inside or outside. His best year in the three year sample was in 2016, when he ranked 73rd out of 76 qualified catchers. Let me reiterate that this data portal ranks Castillo s defense most favorably. It s safe to say that this dataset thinks little of Castillo s ability to frame pitches in the middle of the zone. Castillo excels when it comes to framing pitches in the bottom of the zone. From 2014 2016, his framing ability is ranked 28th out of 103 with a 6.32 value.
