Early Sport Specialization
In the past 30 years, the direction of sports within the youth has drastically changed. In the past, young
athletes aimed to play in several sports. Now, athletes focus themselves in one single sport and year
round extensive training has been encouraged by most adults in a young athlete s life whether they are
a parent or a coach. Allowing the youth to participate in sports is frequently considered a great way to
develop leadership skills and an appreciation for individual and team accomplishments (Sailor). Along
with the rise of Sport Specialization, concerns pertaining to a child s physical and psychological health
have begun to increase as well. Early Sport Specialization may lead to greater risks in a child s life
such as injuries, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Elsbeth Vaino, 82% of the top professional athletes involved themselves in multiple
sports before they went pro (Vaino). Let s take Russell Wilson for example. Wilson played football
and baseball while he attended North Carolina State University. In his freshman year, Wilson was the
first quarterback to earn all ACC honors at North Carolina State University. Wilson s passion to
continue to play baseball caused conflict with coach Tom O Brien, head football coach at North
Carolina State University. Coach O Brien and Wilson came to a disagreement due to Russell s
decision to attend Spring training with the Rockies, a Major League Baseball team, in 2011 after he
was drafted by them in 2010. Wilson decided to transfer to the University of Wisconsin Madison and
continued his success. By Wilson s senior year, he led his football team, the Badgers, to the Big 10
conference while setting a record within the NCAA for his passing efficiency. In April 2012, Russell
Wilson was drafted to the Seattle Seahawks and has been setting records ever since he started playing.
Wilson holds the record for the most passing yards in a playoff game and is a top five NFL
quarterback (Breitenbach). Not only did Russell Wilson achieve amazing accomplishments in a span
of 4 years, he has only experienced one health complication which

Process Flow For Generating Service Route
Introduction
The company in question is a leading environmental services provider that offers collection,
processing, recycling, as well as disposal of both non hazardous and hazardous materials for
automotive and industrial clientele. Having branches across the United States, service representatives
in these branches carry out service provision for customers who are geographically dispersed across
their respective territories.
From the As is process, we can see that there are approximately 45,000 service orders each week
across all branches; the volume of service orders per week is quite large. In order to maximize time
and fuel efficiency, and also reduce the cost of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Improve the process of estimating route feasibility by reducing the number of changes to the finalized
route by at least 20 percent. 2. Improve estimates of speed and distance for service routes by at least
20 percent. However, the metrics for these two goals were not standard or measurable. In addition, in
the define phase, the company did not collect and analyze customer opinions and preferences, despite
one of the deep purpose of the project being to improve customer satisfaction. As such there is little
evidence to prove whether the project goals were in line with user requirements or not. Besides, after
the team set up the project goals, an in frame/out of frame analysis was established to manage the
scope of the project from the information technical (IT) and branch operations perspective. This was
done to establish what was within direct control of the team and what was not. However, from a
business perspective, they did not have a clear and reachable plan for the project time period, and no
actual timeline for the entire process. It is unusual to not show a business flow following a timeline or
give a specific plan for accomplishing of the project goals. Based on this, the project team gets a low
grade for the first criteria.
Application of Six Sigma Tools In the Six Sigma application, one of the most important segments is
using the tools and techniques correctly and properly. In the define phase, the company defined the

Who Is To Blame For Romeo And Juliet s Death
Romeo and Juliet Romeo and Juliet is a play written by William Shakespeare in the 14th century. It is
a beautiful tragedy about two star crossed lovers and their journey together despite their feuding
families protests. As a result of said feud, both Romeo and Juliet ended their lives, as a result of
thinking that the other was dead. If we take this kind of situation and put it into the modern world,
someone would be blamed for these tragic deaths. The only question is who. Their parents are to
blame the Montagues and the Capulets. Of course, to craft your opinion on this topic, you must first
understand the fictional background of the Montagues and the Capulets. Although the play doesn t
offer a backstory, readers can easily see how much tension there is between the two families. They
acknowledge it too, but most of the evidence for my conclusion comes from characters other than the
Capulet and Montague head of households. Verona, where this play takes place, has a prince that
notices all the conflict going on between the families. He says, right after a fight scene from which
Tybalt (a Capulet) and Mercutio (a Montague) emerge dead, Romeo slew him; he slew Mercutio. Who
now the price of his dear blood doth owe? (3.1.175 176.) The prince is pretty much fed up with the
fighting between the Montagues and the Capulets. After this scene, readers of Romeo and Juliet can
safely infer that the death of a Montague and the death of a Capulet will not be the last. There did not

The Importance Of Essential For Healthy Family Functioning...
According to Professor Rick Peterson, there are five essential roles essential to healthy family
functioning, they include providing resources, support and nurturing, development of life skills
(especially for young children), maintenance and management of the family system, and sexual
gratification between spouses. (Peterson and Green) In this section we re going to look at how these
are incorporated into the family s instrumental functioning and their expressive functioning.
Instrumental Functioning As stated earlier in the paper, this family is very set in old traditions. EM
stays home with the kids all day while RM goes to work. While at home EM cooks for the kids, cleans
the house, takes care of the dog, and makes sure the household runs smoothly. They have decided to
homeschool their children when they get a little older, so she is also preparing information and
supplies for that.
Since the kids don t go to daycare, EM has to make sure that they have some interaction throughout
the day, so she brings them on walks to the park. Their daily routine is waking up and having EM cook
everyone breakfast. She packs a lunch for RM and he grabs it before heading out the door. Once the
kids are done eating, EM starts cleaning the house and EJM and HM are sent outside to play. Then
comes lunch time, which according to EM is the craziest part of the day! The kids are tired and crabby
and there is still so much to do. After the kids are done eating they lay down for

Campaign Finance Reform
Freedoms Versus Federal Election Commission
Since the era of Watergate, limits to monetary contributions to campaigns have yielded a debate
regarding the degradation of First Amendment rights and the fight against corrupt politics. Many of
the most significant Supreme Court cases of the twenty first century such as, Citizens United v.
Federal Election Commission, and McCutcheon v. Federal Election Commission, have dealt with the
controversial topic of campaign finance reform and citizens most basic freedoms (Federal Election
Commission 2015). Landmark cases regarding campaign finance reform and implications on First
Amendment rights have become a controversial issue in American politics that will continue to have a
vast impact on monetary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Presidential race of 2008, it is estimated that the combined spending of outside groups, political
parties, and candidates totaled to over five billion dollars (Beneson and Tarr 2012). American politics
has created a culture of political elites that requires every candidate to raise millions of dollars.
Although organizations like the FEC tracks these large sums of money, the amount of money a person
must spend publicizing and promoting themselves has become uncontrollable. Jeb Bush s Super PAC
has already raised over 103 million dollars and filmed countless hours of interviews of the Candidate,
skirting regulations within McCain Feingold that prevent outside sources from directly creating scripts
and advertisements with the Bush campaign (Miller and Elliot 2015). Although Bush and his
supporters may have the constitutional right to raise millions of dollars, and publish deceptive
advertisements, their actions still promote a sentiment of power that should not be allotted to one
person. Regardless of the strides that have been made to reduce corruption within campaign finance
reform, and support citizen s most basic freedoms to support whichever candidate they wish, the entire
campaign process has become too politically elite. The necessity for million dollar campaigns and
extensive financial backing prevents

Colin Powell Leadership Analysis
This paper is a descriptive essay that explains in detail how or why Colin Powell s eighteen leadership
principles pertains to me during phase II of 922A Warrant Officer Basic Course. I chose three
leadership principals that I was able to identify with: (1) Being responsible sometimes means pissing
people off. (2) You don t know what you can get away with until you try. (3) Perpetual optimism is a
force multiplier. This paper describes my personal opinions and real life experiences that pertain to
each of the three principals chosen. Three Leadership Principals from Colin Powell s Leadership
Philosophy Being a leader, doing the right thing and living up to the army values are all things that
society expects of a military officer. Leadership means to positively influence, motivate and provide
your Soldiers with a sense of purpose to accomplish the mission to the highest standard. General Colin
Powell has published both books and articles on leadership, specifically his eighteen principles of
leadership. After reading through the eighteen principles I have chosen three that I am able to identify
with and will discuss in detail how and why each principle pertains to me. The first principle I chose
was, Being responsible sometimes means pissing people off. A quality leader shows responsibility for
the welfare and well being of their Soldiers, which also inevitably means some people will get angry
at decisions you make. Being a people pleaser is a trait

Publix History
What is your favorite place to go and get anything you need? Is it Walmart, Target, or Publix? If so,
you ve probably never referred to either of those as a general store. In all actuality, Walmart, Target,
and Publix are all predecessors of the 19th and early 20th century general store. With large display
windows for all to see the brand new item the store had to offer to the community, a general store was
a necessity for all towns. In fact, some towns were even built around the general store. It was such an
essential for the community that in 1866 the Cape Cod town of Brewster, Massachusetts converted a
church into a general store that is still going today (Fox News, 2012). The general store offered a

The general store offered a huge variety of merchandise that people normally couldn t get. Whether it
was something they couldn t make, or something that didn t come from around the town (Hays, The
General Store , 2012), it was always interesting to people to see just what the general store had. They
would get things like medicines, candies, smoking tobacco, and even toiletries like soaps. After a busy
week of working on the farm, the mom would pack lunch, and the dad and kids would get ready to
head to the general store. They didn t only go to get what they needed for the week, but they also went
because it was a special occasion! The kids would walk in and see toys and candies and all sorts of
things that, if they were lucky, they might walk out with. Candy was a delicacy, and though it didn t
really cost a lot, it wasn t a necessity, thus normally overlooked by the parents. As the mom and the
dad would walk around, of course they would see some things that they wanted. Like how the father

proving or disproving results. Just as is the case with primary and qualitative research, it is costly and
time consuming. This tool requires extensive analysis of statistics and data. Generally, it requires
retesting, and refinement. Moreover, it does not lend itself to areas of ambiguity.
Finally, focus groups provide in depth data. They are a good way to involve the target group in the
research process in a more intimate way. Researchers can observe the group while they are having
dialogue to gauge authenticity. This tool also allows the researcher to use visual stimuli to interact
with its target. However, this tool is not the most efficient way to gather information. As with most of
the tools mentioned, it is time consuming. Therefore, not scientific. Focus groups can produce obscure
results if they are not strictly moderated. Additionally, they often must be incentivized for
participation.

Louise Mallard Character Analysis
Louise Mallard, a woman from Kate Chopin s short story, Story of an Hour . She is an intelligent,
independent lady, Louise believes in a path for women to carry on, yet her thoughts and emotions did
not mirror the path (65). At the point when her sister informs her that Brently, her husband, has passed
on, she reacts with guilt and grief. Louise s vicious response quickly demonstrates that she is a
passionate, decisive lady. She realizes that she should weep for Brently and dread for her own certain
future. However, rather she feels delight at her newly discovered autonomy. Louise is not
unsympathetic and realizes that she will feel sadness for her husband. Louise isolates herself,
performing her own type of self cooping.
Brently Mallard, Louise s husband, as far as anyone knows was killed in a train accident. In spite of
the fact that Louise recalls Brently as a kind and cherishing man, simply being married to him made
him a harsh factor in her life. Brently arrives home ignorant that there has been a train accident. Even
though Brently appears for only one sentence, his impact was enormous. He unintentionally kills his
own wife. His character is very strong and drastically changes the ending of what could have been, an
understanding.
Go away. I am not making myself ill. No; she was drinking in a very elixir of life through that open
window (65). That is what Louise said to her friend as she tried to convince her to leave the room.

The Importance Of Censorship In College Education
The United States, the land of the free, prides itself in the rights given to its people. Despite the
acclaimed freedom of America, Americans, especially college students, are not as free as the founding
fathers would have hoped. When the First Amendment was adopted on December 15, 1791,
Americans were given the Freedom of Religion, Speech, the Press, Assembly, and Petition. While the
Constitution clearly grants these rights to all U.S. citizens, individuals still fight for these freedoms.
Specifically, the Freedom of Speech is an ongoing issue which people continue to pursue. This
freedom is essential to student growth in higher education, yet college students are often limited by
what they can say while on campus. The censorship of individual and group speech threatens the
purpose of a liberal education. It also limits the freedoms of a free society.
Students should be encouraged to voice their individual feelings and views on worldly issues, instead
of being shunned and threatened for doing so. The purpose of a liberal education is to not only to
educate individuals but also to introduce them to the different cultures and beliefs of the students they
sit beside during class. Exposure to the views of others allows students to expand their own
knowledge on current issues, individual rights, cultural differences, and more. An important part of
one s education is to grow spiritually, individually, and culturally, as well as intellectually. One must
note that the experiences

Nursing Workplace Hazards And The Effects On Nursing And...
All across the world healthcare professionals and organizations are dealing with the same issue,
nursing workplace hazards and the effects it has on nurses and healthcare. Nursing Hazards have been
a significant topic of discussion for many health professionals and organizations. Nurses are
continuously reporting the issue of injury and illness. The duties that nurses are tasked with put them
at an everyday risk of different types of hazards. The safety of employees and health organizations
depends on nursing hazards being identified and managed with knowledge, skill, and assessment. It is
the fundamental right of health professionals to feel safe at work and to feel safe hazards must be
identified and managed. Nurses face exposure to workplace hazards such as blood pathogens and
other body fluids, chemicals in the form of solid, liquid or gas, needle sticks, latex allergy, spills,
equipment malfunction, the physical strain of the body, and workload. These hazards are under the
broad category of biological, chemical, physical, safety, and ergonomic and work organization
hazards. The following paper is going to look at workplace hazards and the effects it has on nursing
staff. It will also look at how this issue that is plaguing not only the United States but the world can be
managed or resolved. The risk of infectious diseases for nurses is not just in different sections of
hospitals but in other workplace settings that nurses also work, such as prisons, nursing homes,

Discovery Of The Concentration Of Phosphate
The goal of the lab was to discover the concentration of phosphate in various colas in order to help
with a project for a major cola company. Before we could accomplish this final goal, a Spec 20 was
used to test three colors of food colorings. A Spec 20 is an instrument used to measure the intensity of
a light beam before and after it passes through a sample and compares these two intensities (What
does a Spectronic 20 measure). The instrument is able to measure the percent transmittance and
absorbance of a given sample. It works by taking light of various wavelengths and passing them
through a monochromator. A monochromator is a device that transmits a wavelength of light. The
machine diffracts the wavelengths. The sample that is placed in a small container, called a cuvette,
absorbs various wavelengths. This depends on the particular sampled being tested. The amount of
light absorbed is projected by the machine on a screen, in our case, a digital screen (How Does a
Spectronic 20 work?). By doing the lab with the food colorings, we were able to properly learn how to
use the Spec 20 and also learn the relationship between absorbance and transmittance. Percent
transmittance is the amount of light entering the sample in the cuvette divided by the amount of light
leaving the sample, multiplied by 100. This percent can then be converted to absorbance, which is a
measure of the capacity of a substance to absorb light of a specified wavelength (Absorbance). It is
converted by

Amp Meeting Reflection
Today I went to my first AMP meeting. It was completely different than I expected, but I think that
will turn out to be a good thing. In the beginning I thought this was a program for youth to attend
voluntarily, and I thought most of the attendees would be from families with foster or kinship care. I
was wrong, as most of the attendees were from group homes around Ames and they were there as part
of their recovery process. This shocked me a little but in just the short amount of time I spent with
them I grew to really like them. I think that often youth in group homes are stigmatized and thought of
as bad kids, when in reality most of them just haven t had the support they need or grew up in poor
environments that lead them to where they are.

The Theory Of The International System
Few forces in the world can change, create, and destroy history and nations. However, war continues
to be one of the strongest proponents of these changes. The study of the international system is
comprised of many differing theories. These theories hypothesize the origin of international structure,
events, and how states interact. Specifically, the varying theories present in international relations
disagree on the causes of war. Political Realism has been the most dominant paradigm in the past 70
years of International Relations (Class Notes, August 31). This paradigm stresses the anarchic
structure of world politics, how this structure affects interaction and how it can cause war. Kenneth
Waltz, an American political scientist on the forefront of structural realism, highlights the international
system s decentralized and anarchic tendencies. He states, international politics due to anarchy has
been called politics in the absence of government (PAGE NUMBER?). Additionally, Waltz stresses
the component of the self help mindset of anarchy. As anarchy endures, states will continue to act as
selfish units. This mentality often leads to war as anarchy is taken to mean not just the absence of
government, but also the presence of disorder and chaos (Waltz, The Anarchic Structure of World
Politics). In general, realist theories present that states are the principal actors, every state partakes in
rational egoism which is essential to survival, and anarchy is the dominant

Hemophilia was a royal pain that changed the course of history. Throughout Europe, hemophilia
directly affected the chains of succession in royal families and played a significant role in changing
the forms of governments in some countries. Those changes in how different countries were governed
changed the way they interacted with other countries around the world. For example, it is believed that
the spread of hemophilia played a part in the rise of communism in Russia and the end of the
monarchy in Spain for many years. The changes in Russia probably had the biggest impact on world
history.

A Brief Note On The And Its Effects On The Environment
CHAPTER 4
POLLUTION DUE TO EMISSIONS
IC engines generate undesirable emissions during the combustion process. The emissions exhausted
into the surroundings pollute the atmosphere and causes following problems.
Global warming
Acid rain
Smog
Odors
Respiratory and other health hazards.
The major causes of these emissions are non stoichiometric combustion, dissociation of nitrogen, and
impurities in the fuel and air. The emissions of concern are unburnt hydro carbons (HC), oxides of
carbon (COX), oxides of nitrogen (NOX), oxides of sulphur (SOX) and solid carbon particulates.
It is the dream of engineers and scientists to develop engines and fuels such that very few quantity of
harmful emissions are generated, and these could be let into the surroundings without a major impact
on the environment. However with the present technology this is not possible, and after treatment of
the exhaust gases as well as in cylinder reduction of emissions is important.
4.1 AIR POLLUTION DUE TO IC ENGINES
Until the middle of the 20th century the number of IC engines in the world was so small that the
pollution they caused was tolerable. During that period the environment, with the help of sunlight,
stayed relatively clean. As world population grew, power plants, factories, and an ever increasing
number of automobiles began to pollute the air to the extent that it is no longer acceptable. During the
late 1940s, air pollution as a problem was first recognized in the Los Angeles basin

War was one of the deadliest conflicts that the worldwide population has ever seen. World War I has
been particularly exclusive in history in comparison to previous battles, by reason of the first major
involvement of the world s major powers in warfare in addition to the war s foundation of causes that
eventually led to the unavoidable commencement of bloodshed. The First World War was inevitable
for many reasons that traced back to the beginning of the twentieth century, such as the formulation of

and the rise of the encouragement of nationalism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These nationalistic feelings allowed European citizens to grow extreme morale in their nation, in
addition their country s individual strength in military and government. With the birth of these
sentiments, however; neighbouring countries that made up the continent were denounced and
portrayed to the public as untrustworthy, uncivilized, and threatening in regards to their country. Due
to this, many rivalries and tensions between borders occurred, with the inclusion of the public in
addition to their powerful leaders. Nationalistic pride was launched in European countries for multiple
different reasons, depending on the state of the country at the time. For example, Great Britain s views
regarding nationalism was apparent in relation to the country s past of maintaining strength and
prosperity through peaceful relations, while nationalism was clear in Germany as a symbol of future
imperialism and overwhelming continental strength. Either way, strong feelings of nationalism
allowed Europe s borders to become even more divided than usual, as a result of providing an outlet
for national superiority and the encouraging antagonization of surroundings nations. In short,
nationalism allowed the First World War to become even more unavoidable, since tensions rose to the
brink of both fear and confidence of the major powers: a perfect setup

Marian Anderson
Marian Anderson is remembered as one of the best American contraltos of all time. She was the first
African American singer to perform at the White House and also the first African American to sing
with New York s Metropolitan Opera.
Marian Anderson was born in Philadelphia on Feb. 17, 1902. She never had much money, but she was
happy. All of them, her mother, dad, and younger sisters Alyce and Ethel just liked to be together. One
thing that may have been different from other childhood is that she loved to sing. She sang in the

She later learned that it was Mrs. Roosevelt who made the arrangements for me to sing on the steps of

In 1942 she established the Marian Anderson Award for talented young singers; among the recipients
were Camilla Williams, Mattiwilda Dobbs, and Grace Bumbry. Anderson married Orpheus H. Fisher,
a New York architect, in 1943.
In 1948 Anderson underwent a dangerous operation for the removal from her esophagus of a cyst that
threatened to damage her voice. For two months she was not permitted to use her voice and was
unsure if she would ever be able to sing again. When she was finally allowed to rehearse, her voice
returned free of impairment. Following her recovery, Anderson made her first post World War II tour
of Europe, including stops in Scandinavia, Paris, London, Antwerp, Zurich, and Geneva.
On Jan. 7, 1955, Anderson sang Ulrica in Verdi s Un ballo in maschera (The Masked Ball) at New

Essay On The South African War
The war that occurred in South Africa from 1899 to 1902 has had several names throughout history.
Often, the title depends on who is discussing the war and on what side of the war they were fighting
for during the conflict. Several of these names include the Boer War, the Second War of Liberation,
the Anglo Boer War, and the South African War. Many historians today believe that it should be
referred to as the South African War, so as to include everyone who resided in the South African
region at that time. The conflict should be called the South African war as it was not simply a war
between white British and white Boers because there were many different people and races involved
and affected, including African workers, and foreigners who came to work in the mines in the
Transvaal.
The War in South Africa resulted from many different issues between the British Empire and the

Psychoanalytic Theory In The Film Pan s Labyrinth
The founder of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud, developed a wide variety of psychoanalytic theories
that are often used to examine a diverse body of literary and artistic works. For example, the Family
Romance theory. It is an abnormal state of mind a child enters during the pre pubescent stage. It
consists of the child fantasizing that they are not the biological son or daughter of their given parent.
This phenomenon commonly occurs when a parent fails to reciprocate affection to their child;
consequently, causing them to seek retaliation through imaginary means. In addition, the Family
Romance theory is often used to explain a child s transition into adulthood. Acclaimed Mexican
filmmaker, Guillermo del Toro, featured Sigmund Freud s psychological concept within the family ...

The film depicts the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War through the eyes of Ophelia, an innocent
child, and the magical realm she comes across in the woods. In order to showcase the importance of
rejecting the authority of a parent to gain independence, Guillermo del Toro presents various elements
of the Family Romance theory throughout the course of the film. For instance, it is Ophelia s lack of a
father figure, a rivalry between her and her unborn brother, and withering relationship with her mother
that ultimately serve as the catalyst for her fantasies as well as her development into the adult
community.

My Review On Zojirushi NS WAC 10 Rice Cooker and Warmer The Recipe For Divinely Delicious
Rice
Quite recently, I felt the need for a rice cooker. Since I need to make rice on daily basis, I decided that
it is time I get a rice cooker and get done with the task easily and avoid all the hassle. I always thought
that buying something as simple as a rice machine will be easy but when I started searching the
market aisles, I was in for a big surprise. There were so many make and models all claiming to be
better than the other and I had no idea which one to go for.
Thankfully, I have been very lucky as I decided on a Zojirushi ns wac 10. Efficient and effective, I

It made all the adjustments itself and I was saved from all the nuisance of constantly checking how the
rice is cooking. The result, needless to say, was always perfectly cooked rice. Moreover it also has a
clock and delay timer to further sweeten the deal.
Dent Resistant Body
A very telling factor of the quality of any product is its body. Same goes for Zojirushi s rice cooker.
Not only it is attractive in looks, it also has a dent resistant body. I have using it for almost two years
now and it still looks as good as new. This dent resistant body guarantees prolonged usage.
Capacity:
Believed to be the best rice cooker and steamer by many, the Zojirushi rice cooker can accommodate
upto 5.5 cups of rice. Not only is the rice well cooked, it is healthy as well. The capacity that this rice
cooker offers gives it an edge because unlike others, with it you can easily cook for a group of 13 15
people.
Keep Warm Mode:
An ingenious design, Zojirushi Micom uses a keep warm mode. This makes this rice cooker an
intelligent tool. Once the rice is cooked, it stops heating to prevent the rice from overcooking and
shifts to the keep warm mode so that whenever you wish to serve it, you get it warm and fresh.

Historic Homes Important For The Cultural Fabric Of The...
Introduction Not only are historic homes important for the cultural fabric of the community, they also
provide economic benefits. The adaptive reuse of existing structures is the greenest form of building
as it recycles all valuable parts, as opposed to the process of demolition and construction that creates
unnecessary waste and is more expensive. The preservation of existing structures within historic
districts provide a layer of protection for property values within the neighborhood. Through the Mills
Act, California has been successful in preserving the cultural fabric of communities, preventing
unsuitable alterations, and increasing the property value of neighborhoods. San Diego is the leader in
Mills Act contracts and has a documented history of its effects. With the proven success of the Mills
Act in San Diego, communities throughout various states can use the Mills Act as a blueprint for a
better preserved environment. Mills Act History The rezoning of Coronado Island in 1971 impacted
the taxation of historical landmarks like the Hotel Del Coronado. In response, Senator James Mills
developed the Mills Act in 1972. The Mills Act allows local municipalities the option of starting a
historic designation program. Before his service as a senator, James Mills was known in San Diego as
a historian, author, and preservationist. A short year later, the Mills Act was deemed unconstitutional
by the State Board of Equalization. The Act was reviewed and reworked. By 1978, the

Therefore, why shouldn t we set our focus on the other devastating happenings occurring? Throughout
our country, this is a common feeling among many people. Why is domestic violence a common

common thought that concludes with people thinking domestic violence is over exaggerated: being
able to determine who is actually abused and who isn t is a very difficult question. There are many
factors that play a part in deciding. Pamela Biron is an author of many blogs that relate to dealings
within a family, such as domestic violence, child abuse, alcohol addiction, and more. Within one blog
called False Allegations of Domestic Violence in Divorce Cases , she explained many statistics and
facts that either a man or women had lied about that had to do with domestic violence. One study
showed, Fathers organizations now estimate that up to 80% of domestic violence allegations against

reasons for these false allegations are simple.
Many people lie because there are an incredible amount of sources that can help a victim, including

In order to yield more of the β glucose pentaacetate, the precursor: β glucose must be present as much
within the mixture in which the sodium acetate comes in to play, Sodium acetate will allow the
rotation of the hydroxyl of the anomeric carbon to its equatorial position whereas a strong acid will do
the reverse process: Reverse to it axial position. Based on the study by Perles et al. 2008, the
equatorial structure of β glucose pentaacetate and it respective interactions with a polar solvent such as

larger amount of βis shown to be a perfect fit in the three dimensional structure clusters within water.
The α glucose doesn t as it is more sterically hindered and disturbs the three dimensional arrangement

John Vogel s Thinking Outside The Housing Bubble
As we now know, the U.S. economy, the middle class, and its job growth was damaged by the
overwhelming collapse of Wall Street, which was triggered by the downfall of the housing market and
sub prime loan defaults. One of the main things that need to be addressed in our economy today is the
housing market and making sure that our banks and credit unions are not allowing people who do not
have the necessary income to pay their mortgage disbursements. In an article entitled Thinking outside

Edna St. Vincent Millay s Travel
Edna St. Vincent Millay was a poet of the early 1900s with a knack for drawing people in with her
expressive writing. She was influenced by every little thing possible and had values of her own that
made her an author to watch for. Although her feminist view made for controversial discussions, Miss
Millay s writing was still able to impress other poets.
Miss Millay was inspired by many people and situations throughout her life, but only a few stuck with
her as she began her career. Her mother, Cora Millay, encouraged her children to be self sufficient.
From a young age, Miss Millay was taught to be ambitious and go for what she wanted in life. Cora

Vincent Millay is portrayed as a woman who is educated in the routine of everyday life. This woman
is longing for new friends and experiences, but she cannot seem to grasp hold of them. In real life,
Miss Millay was an ambitious person who was willing to tackle anything without giving up. This
information helps one decipher the metaphorical words of Miss Millay s poem that may be confusing
due to the fact it was written in 1921, shortly after World War I. The poem is about her view of life
and how one sometimes misses out on opportunities. Readers would possibly be people who want to
experience something else in life, but Miss Millay leaves it open for anyone to interpret. The woman
in the text suggests that she is satisfied with what she has, but would not mind something different.
The purpose of the poem is to explain that some opportunities are not for everyone. Some are taken,
while others are given. Miss Millay is trying to get the point across that one must be willing to take
risks or chances because they could be gone the next moment. Opportunities pass us by every single
day; it is our choice whether or not we decide to take them. One must do a little thinking before they
are able to come to this conclusion. The poem has a longing or desiring feeling to it. The woman in the
poem is emotional; she has a determination for experiencing something new in life. She talks about
her feelings and describes the relationships she has and does not

Similarities Between Mary Wollstonecraft And Jane Austen
Mary Wollstonecraft and Jane Austen lived in an era when society dictated the roles of men and
women. During the 19th century, marriage between a Middle Class, educated male, and a pretty
uneducated female was common, often leading to the idea that men were more intelligent than
women. Neither Austen nor Wollstonecraft believed women were less capable of achieving an

Tattoos In Western Culture
Tattoos in Western Culture The art of tattooing has changed in modern times quite drastically. It is
slowly becoming more acceptable to own and display tattoos on one s body. In more conservative
times, those with tattoos were looked on as social outcast, turned down for jobs and seen as strange
outsiders. However, within the past half century, tattoos have steadily become more acceptable.
Millions of people in America now proudly tattoo their skin, with everything from religious symbols

With that high of a percentage, the popularity of memorial tattoos obviously has a direct impact on the
overall popularity and acceptance of tattoos in general. All of these are possible reasons as to why
tattoos have become more popular in recent years. However, the most likely reason for the spike in
popularity is not one, but all of these reasons. They all increase the number of people willing to go out
and get tattoos, and all of them are responsible for making tattoos more acceptable by society. The rise
in popularity has created a community for those associated with the art form. There are conventions,
shows, magazines, and websites dedicated solely to the art of tattooing. Not only is there a community
for those who adorn tattoos, but that community is broken up into different classes. There are three
separate sub classes of this tattoo community. The first is the biker/working class. These people are
often poorer and have cheaper tattoos. They are looked down upon by the highest class as being losers

class is the young punks. This young class is obviously made up of young members, a lot of them
involved in some other sub culture, music, MMA fighting, etc. There is some overlap between this
class and the other classes, since some of them are richer and some are poorer. At the

Betty Williams Rights Activist
How would you feel if you witnessed your child get stripped of his or her rights? How would you feel

This tragedy inspired her to represent children and ensure that they live good lives. As Williams once

Companies are Tricking People Through Marketing...
Companies use advertisements as a mirror for their products. They use advertisements to encourage,
persuade, or manipulate their audience. The most important factor for the company is how the
advertisements will appeal to the customers. Companies use psychologists to help them gauge social
trends. Time and culture are very important as well companies need to know what people like, value,
or need the most at a certain time. They consider all of these factors when promoting their products,
yet they do not consider the quality of said products. Companies have been successful with marketing
advertisement because people usually pay too much attention to the advertisements to pick what
works best for them, while trying to buy something. The first and second advertisements are about
how the corporations use Disney characters and happy kids on food or toys products. Many food and
toys, especially geared for children, usually have a kind of contest that goes along with it. If you buy
this , you have a chance to win this which makes kids want it more. Usually a PlayStation or Xbox is
the big prize offered. Many things geared towards the children have a big impact on the child who
then makes it a big impact on the parent. Most of the times companies use happy or cute kids to
promote yogurt, cereal and toys advertisements, because people like cute kids. Also all children are
looking for that happiness and joy but when they buy it they do not find what they were looking for.

Most serial killers are white males between the ages of 25 and 35 years old with an intelligence level
of average or higher. They also tend to be married with children and have a career (Serial 1). They
also seem to have a childhood past of being physically and sexually abused and are from broken
homes. As children, they often wet the bed, were infatuated with masturbation, were cruel to animals,
and liked playing with fire. Because of their childhood, they often develop a psychopathic nature and
do not know how to feel sympathy or be in a relationship (Scott 2). Because of their insecurity, a
compulsive need to feel like they are in authority becomes a vital part of their well being, even at the
cost of others lives. As Americans look back at the past one hundred years, we stand in awe while

Aboriginal Women are Oppressed in Society Essay
Throughout history, women have been the victims of oppression in society. In specific, Aboriginal
women have suffered through racism, sexism, domestic violence, and over representation. Through
the implementation of the Indian Act, Aboriginal women have been forced to abandon their culture in
order to assimilate into Canadian society. The effects of colonization has changed the way Aboriginal
women are treated; emotionally and physically, and therefore are the source of oppression today.
The Indian Act was created under the provisions section 91 of the Constitution Act of 1867 (Moss,
1990). The act was implemented to define who an Indian is and the rights that come with the title.
These rights pertain to status, bands and reserves for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Treaty benefits, health, rights to living on the reserve and property are forfeited as a result of losing
Indian status. This also happens when an Indian women gets married to another Indian man. She loses
her rights to her own band, and has to become a member of her husband s band. Ultimately, if the
women becomes widowed or abandoned then she loses all status of being an Indian all together. On
the other hand, men can marry a non status woman and all of his rights would be kept. With strides of
equality throughout history, it takes a step back when Aboriginal women are entirely dependent of
their husband. Several cases were took to court in the 1970 s, but not until 1980 is when there was a
connection found between the United Nations Human Rights Committee and the Canadian Human
Rights Act. With this section in direct violation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political
Rights, the removal of a woman s Indian status while marrying a non Indian man was done and Bill C
31 was passed so victims of the Indian Act can be reimbursed. However, Bill C 31 is still under
scrutiny because those who have their status reinstated to them can only pass it on for one generation.
This is a violation under Section 15 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms (Payne, 1992). The Indian
Act is a controversial piece of legislation that was passed in 1876. It has been amended throughout the
times, but the core concept of the Indian Act still

jesse owen Essay
Jesse Owens 1913 1980 American track and field athlete Few athletes have transcended their sports to
become a symbol of an era as did Jesse Owens. Enduring a childhood marked by grinding poverty in
Alabama, Owens became a star athlete in high school after his family moved to Cleveland, Ohio. His
achievements earned Owens several lucrative offers to attend college as a track and field athlete, and
he enrolled at Ohio State University in 1933. On May 25, 1935, Owens made national headlines for
setting five world records and tying another record at the Big Ten Intercollegiate Championships in
Ann Arbor, Michigan. Although many historians consider Owens s performance that day the greatest
achievement by any track and field athlete ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Athletic Success as a Teenager Owens enrolled in Cleveland s Fairmount Junior High School around
1927 and quickly attracted the attention of a mentor who would prove crucial in his future athletic
success. Charles Riley worked at the school as a physical education teacher and track and field coach
and immediately realized that Owens was a naturally gifted athlete who had not yet taken up serious
training. Riley started a rigorous training program for Owens in special morning sessions before
school. Within a year, Owens was running the 100 yard dash in eleven seconds and in 1928 he set two
world records for his age group in the high jump, at six feet, and the long jump, at twenty two feet,
eleven and three quarters inches. Under Riley s instruction to run as though the track were on fire,
Owens also improved his times on the track. Of the seventy nine races he entered in high school,
Owens won seventy five of them. Owens also formed a warm personal relationship off the track with
Riley, who continued to coach him after he entered East Technical High School in 1930. After Henry
Owens suffered a traffic accident in 1929 and experienced extended periods of unemployment in the
Great Depression, Riley s role as a surrogate father was especially important to the young athlete.

The Between The And The Dots
Join the Dots
Tania knows she should have yanked Braydon out of that kindergarten as soon as she got wind of their
join the dot policy. She should calmly have stated her objections and walked away. Suggesting
children join the dots whatever way they want, that they ignore the numbers and follow their mood,
their instincts. That they find their own way to navigate the points, explore their own pathways
through. What the fairy fuck were these women talking about? Effie stepped in to try and calm her.
But when she said that kids have enough rules in life to worry about, Tania grabbed her by the
shoulders and tried to shake some sense into her fuzzy ginger head. I m sorry love, but that s assault,
the police officer said. Even though he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To number those dots and get those lines just right? Doesn t he deserve some respect, some sort of
consideration? He didn t answer. He just wrote down everything Tania said, offering little indication,
one way or the other, on how he felt about join the dots, or any of the other crayon based activities she
brought up. And then he left. So now, Tania lies back, looking up at the high white ceiling of the cell
to find a multitude of blobs, some old, some new, some partially removed. A constellation of chewing
gum. She studies the shapes, the sizes, the colours. She does not consider all those mouths chewing,
the saliva, the teeth, the decay. She just looks for the pattern she knows must be there. She can hear
the psychiatrist mumbling with the coppers out in the corridor. She ignores them and waits for the
pattern to become clear. Then she smiles and silently, in her head, starts to number the dots.
Epigenetics
The day is golden syrupy. Oozing and warm. In the park, two toddlers stand side by side. Their messy
blonde ringlets are cut identically. Watermelon t shirts hug their same rounded bellies, lime leggings
their fleshy thighs. Their chubby little fingers interlink and their rosy faces wonder at the garbage
truck rumbling down the road, picking up bins, tipping them out and banging them back down. Again
and again. They are identical twins. But this is an illusion. From the moment the

The Human Body And Mind Essay
A Picture as I see it.
The human brain is an amazing phenomenon. It is arguably the most important organ in the human
body. True, the heart does pump blood through our veins to transport oxygen from our lungs to the
tissues in our body so we may live, but, without the core of our central nervous system (the Bain) to
regulate the heartbeat, breathing, sight, sensations, hearing and many other functions that our body s
perform every moment of our lives, we would die. Look at the brain as a computer motherboard, it is
programed to tell our body what to do when to do it through thought or instinct. In order for the brain
to tell our body s exactly how to react to a situation it first must know what is going on. This is
accomplished throughout the body by Sensation and Perception. To show how this process works in
the human body and mind, I will choose a painting that I have never seen before and describe how my
mind processes this information and relays it to the rest of my body to get either an emotional or
physical reaction. I will also describe how writing this paper has affected my perception on critical
thinking. First let us start by defining Sensation and Perception. Sensation is the retrieval process of
stimulus from the outside the human body (King, L.A. (2016). Experience psychology. (3rd ed). New
York: McGraw Hill). Perception as also defined by (King, L.A. (2016). Experience psychology. (3rd
ed.) says that this is the process that the brain uses to interpret all

Identifying the Narrative and Genre Characteristics in a Film
Identifying the Narrative and Genre Characteristics in a Film
Film is undoubtly the reflective illusion of life and its complexities brought to a facade of
psychological reality for its audience. It is an art form which plays with mans very definition of
semiotic meanings, codes, signs, signifiers, connotations and popular ideologies to create a mental
association with its audience and transport the spectator through the door way of a cinematic
recreation of the real world This is more commonly known as verisimilitude. Arguably no genre

audience to the extent of Noir and its conventional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Deception, corruption of the seemingly incorruptible, treachery and murder are common place with
dialogue usually being as abrasive to morality through its mode of address as the visual and thematic
conflict on screen. Meaning is created technically and characterised through a unique style of night
shooting, dark shadows, sharp lighting contrasts, askew camera angles, symbolic environments and
incoherent heavy flashbacked narratives. Iconography is a key part of this genre as it and its
reoccurring and recognisable symbols such as the detective who operates on the edge of the law (again
a metaphoric blurring of the philosophical concept of good and evil) and sometimes even actors
associated with the genre itself, carry meaning from film to film. The narrational format of this genre
tends to, through the techniques of voice over, subjective camera angles and similar subjectiveness of
actual storytelling convey an almost documentary style realism.
This realism gives the spectator a privileged if not deceiving access into the fictional mind of the
narrator. In the words of Robert Porfirio It is almost if the narrator takes a perverse pleasure in

1. Briefly describe the steps required to aseptically transfer bacteria from an unknown to a tube of
liquid broth. You might have to research this using the T button (Tell Me More About...)
To aseptically transfer bacteria from an unknown to a tube of liquid broth you have to flame the loop
or wire before you begin to sterilize it. You then remove the caps from the tubes and flame the mouths
of the tubes to prevent air borne contamination. When all this is done, you have to pick up the
inoculum or unknown culture by running the sterile loop or wire down into the tube. Once you got the
inoculum you drop it into the sterile medium to inoculate it.

A pH indicator in the medium changes color to indicate acid production. Phenol red is red at neutral
pH but turns yellow at 6.8 or lower, indicating fermentation which is a positive result. If it stays red or
turns magenta or hot pink, that indicates that the pH level has risen and it is negative.
What results did you get?
The medium turned a deep red indicating a negative result.
8. In regards to the Christiansen s Urea Broth:
What was the name of the test that used Christiansen s urea broth?
Urea Hydrolysis Test (Christiansen s)
How do you interpret the difference between positive and negative results for this test?
The test is to see if the microbe can use the urea to grow. If the urea can be used by the microbe, the
pH indicator in the medium changes color to magenta or hot pink to indicate alkali/base production
which means that it is positive. If the Urea does not change color, it is negative.
What results did you get?
The medium turned a deep red indicating a positive result

Scarlet Letter Walking Symbolism
Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter encounters several symbolic events. Specifically, the
concept of walking. Although it may seem quite an irrelevant concept, walking is crucially symbolic
in Hawthorne s text. For readers in the current century, First, Hawthorne used the concept of walking
to create ideas in simply the names of the chapters. Chapters Sixteen (A Forest Walk), Twenty (The
Minister s Maze), and Twenty Two (The Procession) all revolve around this idea of the symbolism of
walking. Chapter Twenty Two, The Procession , is symbolic towards the idea of the stations of the
cross, which is a series of fourteen pictures or carvings that represent the incidents during Jesus
progress from his condemnation by Pilate to his crucifixion and burial. Hester Prynne processes and
sets forth towards the place appointed for her punishment in Chapter Two (The Marketplace).

The street that is mentioned in the second paragraph is used in context to describe the Puritan area,
more specifically the large edifice located in the community. However, this street could symbolize
Hester s character because the street could be the area in which it also symbolizes the stations of the
cross. Hester s procession , which could also be seen as another symbol towards walking, to the
scaffold could have been on or around that street. Her footsteps could be symbolic to the closer she
arrive to the scaffold, the worse she will feel and she will be treated in a terrible way due to that.
Finally, the track is to better describe the location of the rose bush, which also symbolizes another
event that takes place in the novel, and where the rose bush

Why Did Crispin Run
What would you do if a fierce tyrant came at you swinging his sword savagely? When Crispin s
mother died, he and the priest quietly held a funeral for her.at the funeral John Aycliffe, the steward,
demanded Crispin s ox as a death tax, as a way to cope with all of the sadness in his life he ran into the
forest. He was eavesdropping on a conversation in the forest between a mysterious figure and John
aycliffe when they spotted him John aycliffe hastily drew his sword to smite Crispin but he missed
and only succeeded in setting Crispin free from the brambles which entangled him. Everyone knows
that after being set free Crispin s best interests would be to escape but some people think that he still
should not have ran, while others believe that Crispin should have turned tail and gotten out of that
horrible place. I know as a fact that Crispin should have run from John aycliffe and I have collected

him money. He got to hold his first money after performing for a crowd which made him feel more
grateful that he left stromford. This is my second reason that Crispin should have run from John
aycliffe. For my final reason why Crispin should have run from John aycliffe is that he had absolutely
no reason not to run from John. His life was horrible even before his mother died and after she died
the mistreatment escalated exponentially. He had no family that he could have gone to live with, so
when he ran he would have been all on his own. After his mother died he had to pay for her death with
their ox, which meant that he had no means of supporting himself, so he did, what he felt was his only

Rock And Roll Essay
Rock n Roll began and evolved around the late 1940 s and 1950 s time frame. There were many
groups that participated in the creation and origin of Rock n Roll, however the two primary groups
were rhythm and blues and country music. The origins of rock n roll are often described in a way that
could be represented by an algebraic formula: r b + c w = r r (Garofalo Waksman, 2016, p. 56). While
the formula is rather simplistic, it ignores the many groups of individuals, social and cultural
influences that impacted the formation of Rock n Roll. As Rolling Stone s Robert Palmer (1990)
noted:
The cliché is that rock roll was a melding of country music and blues, and if you are talking about,
say, Chuck Berry or Elvis Presley, the description, though simplistic, does fit. But the black inner city
vocal group sound . . . had little to do with either blues or country music in their purer forms.
The Bo Diddley beat . . . was Afro Caribbean in derivation. The most durable . . . bass riff in Fifties
rock roll . . . had been pinched . . . from a Cuban son record. The screaming, athletic saxophone
playing . . . was straight out of Forties big band swing. . Traditional Mexican rhythms entered the rock
roll arena through Chicano artists. . . . Rock roll proved an All American, multi ethnic hybrid, its
sources and developing substyles too ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Given the profitability, they knew they had to go mainstream yet this was a time where there was

Reflection Of Robert s Speech
Speaking Recognition Final Essay The most effective overall speaker in my opinion would have to be
Robert. The way he acts on stage feels like he knows where he s at and runs it. His speech regarding
the No Smoking Policy was outstanding in such a way it was well spoken. In my opinion why he
deserves to win the most effective overall speaker would have to be because of his charisma,
preparation, confidence, and attitude on stage. His charisma was amazing. He was always happy and
willing to make something funny out of serious embarrassing moments for example when he gave the
speech about dating two people at once others can view that as inappropriate. He was willing to go up
on stage and make it funny which grabs the audience s attention. Also he has a smile on which brings
an happy attitude. This allows him not to speak with a monotone voice which would make the
presentation boring. His confidence on stage was the thing that allowed him to be, in my opinion, the
most effective overall speaker. He always stood up straight, didn t use much filler words and new what
he was talking about. His preparation was one of the key aspects why he was so confident. You could
tell he was super prepared for all of his speeches which allowed him to talk in a clear voice and add
funny comments within them. The speech regarding the dating two people at once was my favorite
because it was a random but interesting topic to present a speech on. His introduction was interesting
because he

  • 2. Early Sport Specialization In the past 30 years, the direction of sports within the youth has drastically changed. In the past, young athletes aimed to play in several sports. Now, athletes focus themselves in one single sport and year round extensive training has been encouraged by most adults in a young athlete s life whether they are a parent or a coach. Allowing the youth to participate in sports is frequently considered a great way to develop leadership skills and an appreciation for individual and team accomplishments (Sailor). Along with the rise of Sport Specialization, concerns pertaining to a child s physical and psychological health have begun to increase as well. Early Sport Specialization may lead to greater risks in a child s life such as injuries, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Elsbeth Vaino, 82% of the top professional athletes involved themselves in multiple sports before they went pro (Vaino). Let s take Russell Wilson for example. Wilson played football and baseball while he attended North Carolina State University. In his freshman year, Wilson was the first quarterback to earn all ACC honors at North Carolina State University. Wilson s passion to continue to play baseball caused conflict with coach Tom O Brien, head football coach at North Carolina State University. Coach O Brien and Wilson came to a disagreement due to Russell s decision to attend Spring training with the Rockies, a Major League Baseball team, in 2011 after he was drafted by them in 2010. Wilson decided to transfer to the University of Wisconsin Madison and continued his success. By Wilson s senior year, he led his football team, the Badgers, to the Big 10 conference while setting a record within the NCAA for his passing efficiency. In April 2012, Russell Wilson was drafted to the Seattle Seahawks and has been setting records ever since he started playing. Wilson holds the record for the most passing yards in a playoff game and is a top five NFL quarterback (Breitenbach). Not only did Russell Wilson achieve amazing accomplishments in a span of 4 years, he has only experienced one health complication which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In addition, in the define phase, the company did not collect and analyze customer opinions and preferences, despite one of the deep purpose of the project being to improve customer satisfaction. As such there is little evidence to prove whether the project goals were in line with user requirements or not. Besides, after the team set up the project goals, an in frame/out of frame analysis was established to manage the scope of the project from the information technical (IT) and branch operations perspective. This was done to establish what was within direct control of the team and what was not. However, from a business perspective, they did not have a clear and reachable plan for the project time period, and no actual timeline for the entire process. • 4. Who Is To Blame For Romeo And Juliet s Death Romeo and Juliet Romeo and Juliet is a play written by William Shakespeare in the 14th century. It is a beautiful tragedy about two star crossed lovers and their journey together despite their feuding families protests. As a result of said feud, both Romeo and Juliet ended their lives, as a result of thinking that the other was dead. If we take this kind of situation and put it into the modern world, someone would be blamed for these tragic deaths. The only question is who. Their parents are to blame the Montagues and the Capulets. Of course, to craft your opinion on this topic, you must first understand the fictional background of the Montagues and the Capulets. Although the play doesn t offer a backstory, readers can easily see how much tension there is between the two families. They acknowledge it too, but most of the evidence for my conclusion comes from characters other than the Capulet and Montague head of households. Verona, where this play takes place, has a prince that notices all the conflict going on between the families. He says, right after a fight scene from which Tybalt (a Capulet) and Mercutio (a Montague) emerge dead, Romeo slew him; he slew Mercutio. Who now the price of his dear blood doth owe? (3.1.175 176.) The prince is pretty much fed up with the fighting between the Montagues and the Capulets. After this scene, readers of Romeo and Juliet can safely infer that the death of a Montague and the death of a Capulet will not be the last. There did not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Importance Of Essential For Healthy Family Functioning... According to Professor Rick Peterson, there are five essential roles essential to healthy family functioning, they include providing resources, support and nurturing, development of life skills (especially for young children), maintenance and management of the family system, and sexual gratification between spouses. (Peterson and Green) In this section we re going to look at how these are incorporated into the family s instrumental functioning and their expressive functioning. Instrumental Functioning As stated earlier in the paper, this family is very set in old traditions. EM stays home with the kids all day while RM goes to work. While at home EM cooks for the kids, cleans the house, takes care of the dog, and makes sure the household runs smoothly. They have decided to homeschool their children when they get a little older, so she is also preparing information and supplies for that. Since the kids don t go to daycare, EM has to make sure that they have some interaction throughout the day, so she brings them on walks to the park. Their daily routine is waking up and having EM cook everyone breakfast. She packs a lunch for RM and he grabs it before heading out the door. Once the kids are done eating, EM starts cleaning the house and EJM and HM are sent outside to play. Then comes lunch time, which according to EM is the craziest part of the day! The kids are tired and crabby and there is still so much to do. After the kids are done eating they lay down for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Campaign Finance Reform Freedoms Versus Federal Election Commission Since the era of Watergate, limits to monetary contributions to campaigns have yielded a debate regarding the degradation of First Amendment rights and the fight against corrupt politics. Many of the most significant Supreme Court cases of the twenty first century such as, Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, and McCutcheon v. In the Presidential race of 2008, it is estimated that the combined spending of outside groups, political parties, and candidates totaled to over five billion dollars (Beneson and Tarr 2012). American politics has created a culture of political elites that requires every candidate to raise millions of dollars. Although organizations like the FEC tracks these large sums of money, the amount of money a person must spend publicizing and promoting themselves has become uncontrollable. Jeb Bush s Super PAC has already raised over 103 million dollars and filmed countless hours of interviews of the Candidate, skirting regulations within McCain Feingold that prevent outside sources from directly creating scripts and advertisements with the Bush campaign (Miller and Elliot 2015). Although Bush and his supporters may have the constitutional right to raise millions of dollars, and publish deceptive advertisements, their actions still promote a sentiment of power that should not be allotted to one person. Three Leadership Principals from Colin Powell s Leadership Philosophy Being a leader, doing the right thing and living up to the army values are all things that society expects of a military officer. Leadership means to positively influence, motivate and provide your Soldiers with a sense of purpose to accomplish the mission to the highest standard. General Colin Powell has published both books and articles on leadership, specifically his eighteen principles of leadership. After reading through the eighteen principles I have chosen three that I am able to identify with and will discuss in detail how and why each principle pertains to me. She is an intelligent, independent lady, Louise believes in a path for women to carry on, yet her thoughts and emotions did not mirror the path (65). At the point when her sister informs her that Brently, her husband, has passed on, she reacts with guilt and grief. Louise s vicious response quickly demonstrates that she is a passionate, decisive lady. She realizes that she should weep for Brently and dread for her own certain future. However, rather she feels delight at her newly discovered autonomy. Louise is not unsympathetic and realizes that she will feel sadness for her husband. Louise isolates herself, performing her own type of self cooping. Brently Mallard, Louise s husband, as far as anyone knows was killed in a train accident. In spite of the fact that Louise recalls Brently as a kind and cherishing man, simply being married to him made him a harsh factor in her life. • 11. The Importance Of Censorship In College Education The United States, the land of the free, prides itself in the rights given to its people. Despite the acclaimed freedom of America, Americans, especially college students, are not as free as the founding fathers would have hoped. When the First Amendment was adopted on December 15, 1791, Americans were given the Freedom of Religion, Speech, the Press, Assembly, and Petition. While the Constitution clearly grants these rights to all U.S. citizens, individuals still fight for these freedoms. Specifically, the Freedom of Speech is an ongoing issue which people continue to pursue. This freedom is essential to student growth in higher education, yet college students are often limited by what they can say while on campus. The censorship of individual and group speech threatens the purpose of a liberal education. It also limits the freedoms of a free society. Students should be encouraged to voice their individual feelings and views on worldly issues, instead of being shunned and threatened for doing so. The purpose of a liberal education is to not only to educate individuals but also to introduce them to the different cultures and beliefs of the students they sit beside during class. Exposure to the views of others allows students to expand their own knowledge on current issues, individual rights, cultural differences, and more. An important part of one s education is to grow spiritually, individually, and culturally, as well as intellectually. One must note that the experiences ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All across the world healthcare professionals and organizations are dealing with the same issue, nursing workplace hazards and the effects it has on nurses and healthcare. Nursing Hazards have been a significant topic of discussion for many health professionals and organizations. Nurses are continuously reporting the issue of injury and illness. The duties that nurses are tasked with put them at an everyday risk of different types of hazards. The safety of employees and health organizations depends on nursing hazards being identified and managed with knowledge, skill, and assessment. It is the fundamental right of health professionals to feel safe at work and to feel safe hazards must be identified and managed. Nurses face exposure to workplace hazards such as blood pathogens and other body fluids, chemicals in the form of solid, liquid or gas, needle sticks, latex allergy, spills, equipment malfunction, the physical strain of the body, and workload. These hazards are under the broad category of biological, chemical, physical, safety, and ergonomic and work organization hazards. The following paper is going to look at workplace hazards and the effects it has on nursing staff. It will also look at how this issue that is plaguing not only the United States but the world can be managed or resolved. • 13. Discovery Of The Concentration Of Phosphate The goal of the lab was to discover the concentration of phosphate in various colas in order to help with a project for a major cola company. Before we could accomplish this final goal, a Spec 20 was used to test three colors of food colorings. A Spec 20 is an instrument used to measure the intensity of a light beam before and after it passes through a sample and compares these two intensities (What does a Spectronic 20 measure). The instrument is able to measure the percent transmittance and absorbance of a given sample. It works by taking light of various wavelengths and passing them through a monochromator. A monochromator is a device that transmits a wavelength of light. The machine diffracts the wavelengths. The sample that is placed in a small container, called a cuvette, absorbs various wavelengths. This depends on the particular sampled being tested. The amount of light absorbed is projected by the machine on a screen, in our case, a digital screen (How Does a Spectronic 20 work?). By doing the lab with the food colorings, we were able to properly learn how to use the Spec 20 and also learn the relationship between absorbance and transmittance. Percent transmittance is the amount of light entering the sample in the cuvette divided by the amount of light leaving the sample, multiplied by 100. This percent can then be converted to absorbance, which is a measure of the capacity of a substance to absorb light of a specified wavelength (Absorbance). It is converted by ... • 15. The Theory Of The International System Few forces in the world can change, create, and destroy history and nations. However, war continues to be one of the strongest proponents of these changes. The study of the international system is comprised of many differing theories. These theories hypothesize the origin of international structure, events, and how states interact. Specifically, the varying theories present in international relations disagree on the causes of war. Political Realism has been the most dominant paradigm in the past 70 years of International Relations (Class Notes, August 31). This paradigm stresses the anarchic structure of world politics, how this structure affects interaction and how it can cause war. Kenneth Waltz, an American political scientist on the forefront of structural realism, highlights the international system s decentralized and anarchic tendencies. He states, international politics due to anarchy has been called politics in the absence of government (PAGE NUMBER?). Additionally, Waltz stresses the component of the self help mindset of anarchy. As anarchy endures, states will continue to act as selfish units. This mentality often leads to war as anarchy is taken to mean not just the absence of government, but also the presence of disorder and chaos (Waltz, The Anarchic Structure of World Politics). In general, realist theories present that states are the principal actors, every state partakes in rational egoism which is essential to survival, and anarchy is the dominant ... • 17. A Brief Note On The And Its Effects On The Environment CHAPTER 4 POLLUTION DUE TO EMISSIONS IC engines generate undesirable emissions during the combustion process. The emissions exhausted into the surroundings pollute the atmosphere and causes following problems. Global warming Acid rain Smog Odors Respiratory and other health hazards. The major causes of these emissions are non stoichiometric combustion, dissociation of nitrogen, and impurities in the fuel and air. The emissions of concern are unburnt hydro carbons (HC), oxides of carbon (COX), oxides of nitrogen (NOX), oxides of sulphur (SOX) and solid carbon particulates. It is the dream of engineers and scientists to develop engines and fuels such that very few quantity of harmful emissions are generated, and these could be let into the surroundings without a major impact on the environment. However with the present technology this is not possible, and after treatment of the exhaust gases as well as in cylinder reduction of emissions is important. 4.1 AIR POLLUTION DUE TO IC ENGINES Until the middle of the 20th century the number of IC engines in the world was so small that the pollution they caused was tolerable. During that period the environment, with the help of sunlight, stayed relatively clean. As world population grew, power plants, factories, and an ever increasing number of automobiles began to pollute the air to the extent that it is no longer acceptable. How would you feel if your child was treated inhumanely in front of your very own eyes? Children should never be viewed as powerless or be limited of their rights. They should always receive the same rights given to everyone else in the world. People need to stand up, defend, and help children. That s exactly what Betty Williams did. Williams was a determined and hard working peace activist who devoted her life to helping children, and still does today. Had Betty Williams not acted as a representative for children and fought for them, life for children would never be the same. On May 22, 1943, Betty Williams became a face in this world. She was born in Belfast, which is located in Northern Ireland. Williams was part of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Life for them wasn t always like that. On August 10, 1976, Williams witnessed a horrific incident in her town. A mother was walking down the street with her children, and became victims in a hit and run situation. They were hit by a Provisional Irish Republican Army. All of the three children died, but their mother, Anne Maguire, survived. Unfortunately, Anne Maguire couldn t bear with the pain of her children s death, and took her own life. Williams noticed that nothing was done about the accident. This tragedy inspired her to represent children and ensure that they live good lives. As Williams once said, We want for our children, as we want for ourselves, our lives at home, at work, and at play to be lives of joy and peace ( Betty Williams 3). Soon after this occurrence, Williams came together with the aunt of the children that were killed, Mairead Maguire. Together, they fought for children. Their goal was to unite all of Northern Ireland. Also, they wanted to bring justice to children s deaths and other cases involving them. They did not rest until changes and improvements were ... • 38. Companies are Tricking People Through Marketing... Companies use advertisements as a mirror for their products. They use advertisements to encourage, persuade, or manipulate their audience. The most important factor for the company is how the advertisements will appeal to the customers. Companies use psychologists to help them gauge social trends. Time and culture are very important as well companies need to know what people like, value, or need the most at a certain time. They consider all of these factors when promoting their products, yet they do not consider the quality of said products. Companies have been successful with marketing advertisement because people usually pay too much attention to the advertisements to pick what works best for them, while trying to buy something. The first and second advertisements are about how the corporations use Disney characters and happy kids on food or toys products. Many food and toys, especially geared for children, usually have a kind of contest that goes along with it. If you buy this , you have a chance to win this which makes kids want it more. Usually a PlayStation or Xbox is the big prize offered. Many things geared towards the children have a big impact on the child who then makes it a big impact on the parent. Most of the times companies use happy or cute kids to promote yogurt, cereal and toys advertisements, because people like cute kids. Also all children are looking for that happiness and joy but when they buy it they do not find what they were looking for. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Serial Killers and Mass Murderers Thomas Blankenship 6 April 2000 Mrs. Waggener English II Mass Murderers and Serial Killers Mass Murderers and Serial Killers are nothing new to today s society. These vicious killers are all violent, brutal monsters and have an abnormal urge to kill. What gives people these urges to kill? What motivates them to keep killing? Do these killers get satisfaction from killing? Is there a difference between mass murderers and serial killers or are they the same. How do they choose their victims and what are some of their characteristics? These questions and many more are reasons why I was eager to write my paper on mass murderers and serial killers. They also seem to have a childhood past of being physically and sexually abused and are from broken homes. As children, they often wet the bed, were infatuated with masturbation, were cruel to animals, and liked playing with fire. Because of their childhood, they often develop a psychopathic nature and do not know how to feel sympathy or be in a relationship (Scott 2). Because of their insecurity, a compulsive need to feel like they are in authority becomes a vital part of their well being, even at the cost of others lives. As Americans look back at the past one hundred years, we stand in awe while looking at the drastic increase in crime. However, at the same time we have a hunger for knowledge of these crimes as we search for and interesting theory. People want to know every detail of the most brutal crimes, and moreover, how they were committed. Angie cannon insists that this is because people want to believe that it cannot happen to themselves. We want to know how these unspeakable acts were committed, to convince ourselves that we are immune from the same wretched fait (Cannon 1). • 40. Aboriginal Women are Oppressed in Society Essay Throughout history, women have been the victims of oppression in society. In specific, Aboriginal women have suffered through racism, sexism, domestic violence, and over representation. Through the implementation of the Indian Act, Aboriginal women have been forced to abandon their culture in order to assimilate into Canadian society. The effects of colonization has changed the way Aboriginal women are treated; emotionally and physically, and therefore are the source of oppression today. The Indian Act was created under the provisions section 91 of the Constitution Act of 1867 (Moss, 1990). The act was implemented to define who an Indian is and the rights that come with the title. Treaty benefits, health, rights to living on the reserve and property are forfeited as a result of losing Indian status. This also happens when an Indian women gets married to another Indian man. She loses her rights to her own band, and has to become a member of her husband s band. Ultimately, if the women becomes widowed or abandoned then she loses all status of being an Indian all together. On the other hand, men can marry a non status woman and all of his rights would be kept. With strides of equality throughout history, it takes a step back when Aboriginal women are entirely dependent of their husband. Several cases were took to court in the 1970 s, but not until 1980 is when there was a connection found between the United Nations Human Rights Committee and the Canadian Human Rights Act. With this section in direct violation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the removal of a woman s Indian status while marrying a non Indian man was done and Bill C 31 was passed so victims of the Indian Act can be reimbursed. However, Bill C 31 is still under scrutiny because those who have their status reinstated to them can only pass it on for one generation. This is a violation under Section 15 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms (Payne, 1992). The Indian Act is a controversial piece of legislation that was passed in 1876. • 43. The Human Body And Mind Essay A Picture as I see it. The human brain is an amazing phenomenon. It is arguably the most important organ in the human body. True, the heart does pump blood through our veins to transport oxygen from our lungs to the tissues in our body so we may live, but, without the core of our central nervous system (the Bain) to regulate the heartbeat, breathing, sight, sensations, hearing and many other functions that our body s perform every moment of our lives, we would die. Look at the brain as a computer motherboard, it is programed to tell our body what to do when to do it through thought or instinct. In order for the brain to tell our body s exactly how to react to a situation it first must know what is going on. This is accomplished throughout the body by Sensation and Perception. To show how this process works in the human body and mind, I will choose a painting that I have never seen before and describe how my mind processes this information and relays it to the rest of my body to get either an emotional or physical reaction. I will also describe how writing this paper has affected my perception on critical thinking. First let us start by defining Sensation and Perception. Sensation is the retrieval process of stimulus from the outside the human body (King, L.A. (2016). Experience psychology. (3rd ed). New York: McGraw Hill). Perception as also defined by (King, L.A. Deception, corruption of the seemingly incorruptible, treachery and murder are common place with dialogue usually being as abrasive to morality through its mode of address as the visual and thematic conflict on screen. Meaning is created technically and characterised through a unique style of night shooting, dark shadows, sharp lighting contrasts, askew camera angles, symbolic environments and incoherent heavy flashbacked narratives. Iconography is a key part of this genre as it and its reoccurring and recognisable symbols such as the detective who operates on the edge of the law (again a metaphoric blurring of the philosophical concept of good and evil) and sometimes even actors associated with the genre itself, carry meaning from film to film. The narrational format of this genre tends to, through the techniques of voice over, subjective camera angles and similar subjectiveness of actual storytelling convey an almost documentary style realism. This realism gives the spectator a privileged if not deceiving access into the fictional mind of the narrator. Although it may seem quite an irrelevant concept, walking is crucially symbolic in Hawthorne s text. For readers in the current century, First, Hawthorne used the concept of walking to create ideas in simply the names of the chapters. Chapters Sixteen (A Forest Walk), Twenty (The Minister s Maze), and Twenty Two (The Procession) all revolve around this idea of the symbolism of walking. Chapter Twenty Two, The Procession , is symbolic towards the idea of the stations of the cross, which is a series of fourteen pictures or carvings that represent the incidents during Jesus progress from his condemnation by Pilate to his crucifixion and burial. There were many groups that participated in the creation and origin of Rock n Roll, however the two primary groups were rhythm and blues and country music. The origins of rock n roll are often described in a way that could be represented by an algebraic formula: r b + c w = r r (Garofalo Waksman, 2016, p. 56). While the formula is rather simplistic, it ignores the many groups of individuals, social and cultural influences that impacted the formation of Rock n Roll. In my opinion why he deserves to win the most effective overall speaker would have to be because of his charisma, preparation, confidence, and attitude on stage. His charisma was amazing. He was always happy and willing to make something funny out of serious embarrassing moments for example when he gave the speech about dating two people at once others can view that as inappropriate. He was willing to go up on stage and make it funny which grabs the audience s attention. Also he has a smile on which brings an happy attitude. This allows him not to speak with a monotone voice which would make the presentation boring. His confidence on stage was the thing that allowed him to be, in my opinion, the most effective overall speaker.
