The Vietnam War 1954-1975
The Vietnam War of 1954 1975 was the longest and one of the most unsuccessful wars in U.S
history. It took place in countries such as South Vietnam, North Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. The
war was a huge blow to the United States pride and military, so much that there were lotteries for
soldiers. There were five presidents in office during the war, but the main presidents that had a big
impact on being involved were Dwight Eisenhower, Lyndon B. Johnsonand Richard Nixon.
Although the objectives of the U.S being involved were good intentioned, there are many reasons to
support that it was an Unjustifiable war due to the casualties. While looking at present information
about the war, it was not needed for America to step into the territorial

Analysis Of Carrie Chapman Catt s Speech To Congress
Carrie Chapman Catt was an extraordinary woman and activist promoting the rights of women for
their political freedoms. Moreover, Catt s background as a principal, teacher, superintendent of
schools, and women s activist gave credibility to her being a well educated and refined woman,
providing the ethos of her claim. (History.com) For this reason, she was more than capable of
advocating for all women of our great country in the fight to allow women the right to a say in their
government by giving them the right to vote. Catt argued in her speech to Congress in 1917 that
Woman suffrage was inevitable. (qtd. in Edinmuller) Through applying ethos, presenting logos, and
most importantly emphasizing pathos lead to the success of Catt s impassioned speech to Congress.
The construction of this speech convinced her audience that change is inevitable as well as
necessary for this country to become the great... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, they did not practice what they preached as Catt argued the logic in her claim,
quoting these historical events. Catt provided an example quoted from the Declaration of
Independence, Taxation without representation is tyranny. (US 1776) However, women were being
forced to pay taxes, without having a say in their government, which is a contradiction to all men
are equal. Many years later, Abraham Lincoln stated that ours is a government of the people, by the
people, and for the people. (Lincoln, Gettysburg Address) Again, women are still not included in
this generalized statement of equality. In addition, Woodrow Wilson also made similar
contradictory statements of equality in their wartime. Logically, these leaders spoke of the equality
of men but failed to acknowledge the equality of women to men. Catt arranged these historical
accounts out as the first stage of her argument for women s right to

Kesha s Song Praying
I chose the song Praying by Kesha for chapter twelve. In 2014, Kesha signed an exclusive
contract with Dr. Luke. By 2014, Kesha began a lawsuit against Dr. Luke for having an unlawful
contract. Dr. Luke s contract enabled him to control every aspect of her life. The lawsuit claimed
that Dr. Luke verbally, physically, sexually, and emotionally abused her to the point where she
almost lost her life. In 2017, after being freed from the contract, Kesha released Praying to express
the impact Dr. Luke had on her. I am relating this song to the misuses of power and influence found
in chapter twelve. Chapter twelve specifically contains information about sexual harassment and
different types of bullying. Kesha s song, Praying, expresses abuse

The current structure of Haiti s political system was set forth in the Constitution of March 29,

government of Haiti is one of the most corrupted nation in the world. A measure of perceived
political corruption. In 2006, Haiti was ranked as the most corrupt nation out of the 163 that
were surveyed for the Index. The International Red Cross reported that Haiti was 155th out of
159 countries in a similar survey of corrupt countries. (Red cross) one example of Haiti
corruption in politics is in an article from October 2012 where a Haitian dictator is charged for
murder Former Haitian dictator Jean Claude Baby Doc Duvalier will face trial for corruption

Junie B Jones Research Paper
When I was a child, reading meant a magical story that I believed would come true when I grew
up. Reading today is antithetic to how it was back in my childhood days. Having a want to read,
meant that the library would become my best friend. As a child, my parents wanted me to stay
active, which meant I was either at a ball tournament, camping, playing outside, or playing
games with my friends, but I made sure I read before bed or on my way to and from ball games.
When I was in preschool and elementary school my favorite books to read were The Rainbow
Fish and the Junie B. Jones series. The Rainbow Fish was my favorite book because I remember
seeing the cover of the book with all its vibrant colors that drew me to read it, which looking at
the pictures were good enough for my attention span. Junie B. Jones book series were my
favorite in grade school because I could relate Junie B. Jones life because I was the same age
going through the same issues. The series was popular for children my age at our school, which
we made a competition of who can read all the books first. My parents would occasionally read
to me when I was young, but my mother said that I couldn t stand still long enough to have her
read to me. She mentioned that I would instead lay where I could find a spot and block everyone
out to read my book. I still enjoy reading, but... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay on Apartheid in South Africa
Blacks shared the pain of Apartheid in one of the darkest periods in history. Blacks were horribly
oppressed by tyrants who obliterated their happy, healthy lives for nothing more then their own
interests. Many Laws were passed that restricted blacks from the freedoms that all people should
rightfully obtain from birth. White South Africanstook the black population by the throat, making it
hard for blacks to live as happy people. Black South Africans were held in a form of imprisonment
and could do little to fight back, causing Apartheidto be one of the darkest periods in black history.
Apartheid was introduced as a part of the National Party s campaign in the 1948 elections. With the
National Party victory, Apartheid became a national... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 1950 s some changes occurred. The migrant labor act was abolished because the
government did not feel the need to segregate the cities as much as they did in the past. So
initially blacks were stuck on rural reserves most of the time and were being treated worse and
worse. This was called the Bantu authorities act, established 1951. On a good note, there were
people on the Black African s side from the beginning. Prime Minister Smuts wrote, quot; The idea
that natives must all be removed and confined in their kraals is in my opinion, the greatest
nonsense I have ever heard. quot; (Smuts 1) Steven Biko wrote, The government of our nation is
full of tyranny (Biko 1) Despite all the fighting back, apartheid was a loosing battle for blacks in
South Africa until the late 1900 s.
Apartheid took off in 1948 when the national party won the election. It was all downhill from
there for the blacks. In 1950 the population registration act was passed. This act classified people
as either white, black, or Bantu. The apartheid fooled other countries into believing it was a
lifting in a state of emergency. In 1951 many whites did not like the black people so a
commission was formed to set and regulate segregation laws. In 1952, Nelson Mandela and
Tambo opened the first black legal firm. This was a small step for the blacks at the time. In 1953
the public safety act and criminal law amendment were passed which allowed the government to

literature search was done to explore the attitudes of physicians and nurses towards their

The Battle Of The War Essay
IV. Essay On December twenty third of the year 1776, Thomas Paine wrote the renowned words,
These are the times that try men s souls. Never had truer words been written. Not only was the
revolution trying for the men of the colonial army, but for the British army, and all those who had
something riding on the outcome of the war. Though they were subjected to different sides of the
war, George Washington, King George III of England and William Howe all experienced the
hardships and trying times of the year 1776. General George Washington knew that he lacked
experience with almost all aspects of the war. He had retired from military life fifteen years before
the revolution, and had never led an army in battle, commanded anything more than a regiment or
directed a siege. He accepted the command of the army on June 16, 1775 where he warned
Congress, [should] some unlucky event happen unfavorable to my reputation...may it be
remembered by every gentleman in the room that I this day declared with the utmost sincerity, I do
not think myself equal to the command I am honored with. (McCullough Pg. 49) Washington knew
his limits, but what he did not know was the state of disarray that the army was in. Washington
arrived in Boston the first week of July, 1775. No head count had been taken, and when an official
count was taken, Washington learned that instead of the twenty thousand men he had been
informed he had, he had sixteen thousand with only fourteen thousand fit for duty.

The Role Of Islam In Turkey
Islam has been a dominant force throughout Turkish history. During the Ottoman Empire, Islam
ruled every part of the theocratic state, but after the demise of the empire, Turkey s rulers led the
country away from political Islam. The modern Turkish state has a strictly secular government, and
Islam has been relegated to the personal sphere. Although Turkey has experienced a rise in
fundamentalism in the past twenty years, the separation of churchand state has remained relatively
intact. Even with this increase of fundamentalist Islam, the wide majority of Muslims in Turkey are
moderate and tolerant. They have adapted to modern lifeand value Islam for its moral and spiritual
messages. Islam is a guide for right living and ethical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Impact Of Industrialization And The Impacts Of...
Impacts of Industrialization Industrialization began when Britain was eager to invest money into
creating machinery to make textiles to avoid paying India to export cotton textiles. Since the
British empire had a lot of power and had widespread colonization, they had the money to invest
in raw materials. In the late 1700 s Britain wanted to produce their own cotton textiles, so they
began exporting the raw material, cotton, to make textiles from India. In 1750 s textile mill were
created to be able to produce larger quantities of cotton textiles in a shorter amount of time through
the use of more complex machinery. While India continued to make cotton textiles by hand,
Britain no longer needed cotton from India when the advanced technology allowed for Britain to
rapidly produce cotton. After textile machines were produced, household became urbanized when
children needed to travel to factories in the cities to help produce cotton textiles. Clothes became
mass produced after textile mills, allowed for the clothes to be identically produce in large
quantities. Mass production of identical products causes the prices to drop because the advances in
technology reduces the amount of laborers needed to make the same product. More technological
advances revolutionized the work industry, people were trained to do one task repeatedly, being
apart of the assembly line. Families were divided when they no longer worked together on farms,

the year all the countries have a vacation on this day and most of the people celebrate with their
friends family and enjoy watching fireworks. In Riyadh there are only two special festivals, Eid
Al Fitter which comes after Ramadan all Muslims celebrate this special holiday because it is in
their religion, the wear new clothes and go to the mosque to pray in the morning and after that
they visit their friends and families and go back home to wait for an guests to come. Eid Al Adha,
is the second special holiday and it comes in the 10th day of Eid Al Haj and we sacrifice a sheep
and volunteer to poor people meat.
To sum up, each capital has similar and different traditions. There is a huge difference between
these two capitals D.C and Al Riyadh more than the similarities. However, capital cities have a
prominent place in the countries. I have been to both capitals and I think D.C has most spectacular

The Treaty of Versailles
In 1919 at the Paris Peace Conference The Treaty of Versailles was formally drafted and World
War I was finally brought to an end. The treaty was drafted by the Allied Powers, which consisted
of Great Britain, France and the United States. This treaty blamed the war solely on Germany, and
it required them to pay an amount of $33 billion dollars in reparations, cede all of colonies,
dismantle their air force, and greatly reduce their other military operations (German Delegation,
291).
The German army was reduced to 100,000 men, and they were not allowed to have access to any
tanks for their military. They were only given permission in the treaty to only be granted access to
6 capital naval ships to help defend their coastline, but they were not given any access to
submarines which would help them attack, or become undetected. They were also to agree that the
area that was to the west of the Rhineland and the area that was 50 kms east of the River Rhine was
to be made into a demilitarized zone or (DMZ). A (DMZ) is an area of which no German
soldiers or German aiding weapons are to be allowed. The Allies had agreed that they were to
keep a standard army occupied on the west bank of the Rhine for 15 years to be able to hold up
these treaty agreements. Also, during the drafting of this treaty, Germanywas not allowed to give
any input even though that they were the most impacted, and are facing the majority of the
consequences.

Northern Colonies Differences
While America was only in its early steps, a fresh and new nation, a rift soon began to form,
threatening to tear apart the continent before it had hardly begun. As cultures began to form in the
South and Northern colonies, so did mistrust and tensions between them. Differences in Urban and
Rural environments, focuses in different areas of expansion, and finally the issue of diversity in
both regions. While these differences pushed the colonies farther and farther away, there were
similarities between them, keeping the nation together for as long as it could.
The economy of the South was based almost solely on plantations and manual labor. While slavery

The principles in the early South almost never changed until the Civil war, and ideals from the
creation of colonies became law, never to be changed. In this way, the South walled itself from
those who tried to settle there only to find themselves turned away from society and shunned. Such
people would be mixed children, those who were not Christian, and Africans. Tolerance found in the
north soon dwindled moving down to the south, a devoutly Christian region until around the mid
1700 s. Lack of communication and commerce with other nations as previously mentioned left the
south at a weak point, finding themselves turning others away, while being alone in themselves. A
key reason for the intense sense of culture in the modern South is this isolation found early in the
history of these colonies, where a sense of pride for these Southern values becomes all
encompassing. A bold similarity between the two regions stands out, a core set of values, whether
for the North and South. The Northern colonies had a focus on the sciences, and advancement of
civilization, while the South wanted nothing more than to live on their precious land, and focus on
the plantation life they had come to develop, not eager to branch out into any other

Corruption In Culture
Why corruption is rampant in sport?
Corrupt Culture
Corruption has always existed in society and no country will get rid of it entirely. Many people
considered that political corruption is a cultural issue. Some of them also stated that gift giving is
part of our culture and often be used to quibble their corrupt acts (Larmour, 2012). However, people
should not confuse gift giving with bribery or corruption and culture should not long be the excuse
of culture. In fact, it is unreasonable to assume that political culture are inherently corrupt and
rooted in any society. Political leaders violate social and political norms do not mean that there are
no norms (Alatas, 1968). Corruption in politics is the result that political leaders rationally make
and economically calculated. In this situation, culture does not play a vital role in this decision.
Since corruption is not a cultural circumstance in politics, anti corruption programs might be
efficiently implemented. This is because the prevention will not focus on the changes of culture,
instead it could aim at the vulnerabilities of a particular moment in corruption history.
However, corruption in sport is different from political corruption that there exists a specific and
vulnerable environment for corruption. It is mentioned by Boniface (et al., 2012) that most players
are trained and live in a closed environment. Under the tremendous pressure from medical advisors
and sports management, their behavior are controlled and

The Deer Hunter Analysis
The Deer Hunter is a Vietnam war film directed by Michael Cimino released in 1978. It tracks
the lives of lifelong friends in a small town before and after three of them go to Vietnam. The
main male characters that go to Vietnam are Michael, Nick, and Steven. The beginning of the film
shows the kind of friendship they have with one another before becoming a soldier using up about
an hour of screentime. The middle of the film shows what they went through during the war, the
last part of the film was used to show how they were affected in their lives. What most likely
influenced the film like the many other war filmsat the time was the relatively recent end of the
Vietnam war.
The setting of the film was realistic never did I think while watching that this was something that
wouldn t have happened. The atmosphere suggested that Pennsylvania was a quiet place free
from trouble, while Vietnam was a place full of mayhem and temptations. There was one very
blatant symbol used to foreshadow the events to come. The cups that Steven and his wife drank
out of that if not a single drop was spilled would be good luck for the rest of their lives.
The camera work of the film was executed well. The close ups helped to build the tension during the
Russian roulette scenes. There were very scenic wide shots of the mountains during hunting scenes
that helped contrast the intense scenes of the movie by making those scenes more intense when we
see them because of how tranquil much of the movie

medieval japan. Tokugawa Shogunate lasted for more than 250 years and Medieval Japan
changed dramatically from feudalism to a modernised society due to the Meiji restoration which
also turned japan into a world of power. The three main focuses which will be discussed in this
Essay are political, social and military which changed in the Meiji restoration. Education, social
class, and women s roles changed drastically when Japan began to modernize. Due to the
government which played a huge role in the social change of the Meiji restoration by creating
many new laws. The biggest change during the Meiji restoration was the schooling of the
Japanese children as back in feudal Japan it was only the high class and nobles that got to go
school and now after the Meiji restoration it is everyone. (Asia for educators, 2009) (Brian Platt,

Ursula Burns Research Paper
I admire Ursula Burns as a phenomenal woman and business leader. Ursula is undoubtedly a
superior leader. Ursula M. Burns (born September 20, 1958) is an American business leader
who has been chairwoman of Xerox since 2010, and was Xerox CEO from 2009 2016. Burns

Internet Privacy Essay
With the internet gaining such popularity, privacy has become a thing of the past. People have
come to accept that strangers can view personal information about them on social networks such as
facebook, and companies and the government are constantly viewing peoples activity online for a
variety of reasons. The government has attempted to help the consumer regain their privacy online
by passing the Consumer Internet Privacy Protection Act of 1997, although it is difficult to enforce
and has become outdated with the fast moving tendency of the constantly changing internet. Some

many websites, at the end of their privacy policy is a small, pre checked box that asks the user
whether this website can share your information with other websites. Many people don t even see

Why Did Texas Fight In The Civil War Essay
The Civil War: Why Did Texas Fight? What do you know about the civil war? The Civil War is
very significant in Texan history. Between the years of 1861 and 1865, the citizens of The United
States turn against each other. The Civil War was fought between the Union states (northern states)
and the Confederacy states (southern states).Texas fought in the Civil War to protect state rights,
love of texas, and they fought to keep slavery. One of the many reasons Texas fought in the Civil
War was because of civil rights. States rights is the right of a state to make decisions on items

Child Sexual Violence And Sexual Abuse
Child on child sexual violence/assault cases has been on the rise. Sexual Violence is defined by
Webster s dictionary as any illegal sexual contact that usually involves force upon a person
without consent or is inflicted upon a person who is incapable of giving consent (as because of
age or physical or mental incapacity) or who places the assailant (as a doctor) in a position of
trust or authority. There is growing understanding that the vast majority of children who has
experienced sexual assault, are typically assaulted by someone they know, and often times trust
(family member, friends of family, their own friends etc.) (Chaffin, 2008). Research indicates
that over one third of children sexually assaulted is committed by someone under the age of 18
(Browne Finkelhor, 1986; Paolucci et al., 2001). Sexually victimized youth experiences greater
risk for a multitude of antisocial behaviors and sexualized behaviors compared to those who
have not experienced sexual victimizations (Browne Finkelhor, 1986; Paolucci et al., 2001).
Tragic events are reported nearly every day such as the 2009 Gabriel Myers case involving the 7
year old boy who had previously been sexually assaulted by another child and later ended his own
life. The importance of child on child sexual violence/assaults tend to be overlooked by adults due
to the denial of thinking the youth and/or adolescences we love cannot possibly cause abuse and
harm upon another loved one(COCSA, 2014). It is reported that

Black Eyed Peas Essay
1.The source characteristics are: credibility, attractiveness, likeability, trustworthiness, and
expertise. Having a spokesperson that is credible is most important because it is a composite of
the other characteristics. The Black Eyed Peas are a very popular band, which makes people
more likely to accept a product that they are endorsing. The Black Eyed Peas serving as a
spokesperson would have the same effect as a celebrity. The Black Eyed Peas are attractive and
likeable to most people. Their music is attractive to both young and older generations, which is
something that is very hard to do. They also are physically attractive and ads with a physically

endorsed by brands like trucks, guns and hunting gear. 3.If I were going to design a TV ad for
the Black Eyed Peas about an upcoming concert I would make sure to reach more than just one
target market. The Black Eyed Peas are a well known band and have been able to appeal to both
young adults and older adults but not elderly so it is important to create a commercial that will
appeal to both as well. As far as the message strategy, I would use affective message strategy
because people already know who they are, now they need to invoke their fans feelings and
emotions to make them feel that they need to go to the concert. The executional framework I d
recommend would be fantasy because you want to be able to create a commercial that makes
them feel that they are actually there. To create this type of effective ad it would be a good idea to

The Major Characters Of Responsibility In A Tale Of Two...
Whether it is studying for a difficult project, running from danger, or working to hit a goal at a
certain time, perseverance is necessary to help one carry himself or herself. Sometimes it stands
for something simple. Sometimes it means life, death, or even self worth. Thus, perseverance can
be defined as someone or something trying to complete a task no matter the degree of challenge
or obstacles. Perseverance is a trait shared by a few of the major characters in the stories, A Tale of
Two Cities and Les Miserables including the protagonists and antagonists.
Dr. Manette shows perseverance in many ways in the story, A Tale of Two Cities. Charles
Darnay, the own nephew of the Marquis St. Evremond who banished him to the Bastille for
eighteen years, tries to marry his daughter by making promises with Dr. Manette. This shows
that he is a man who displays great perseverance when selecting the best husband for his
daughter, one that will make her happy. He also exhibits great perseverance when Darnay gets
put on trial many times and Dr. Manette tries to prove his innocence using many resources. Lastly,
he shows perseverance when he tries to work through his multiple relapses. These are times in
which he almost seems lifeless and mechanical. Of the many representations of Dr. Manette s
relapses, his situation with Darnay marrying Lucie is similar to Cosette s love for Marius and the
approval of her father in a few aspects.

A true friend is someone who is there for you when he d rather be anywhere else. This quote

Dorian Gray Symbolism
In The Picture of Dorian Gray Basil Hallward, the painter who made Dorian s portrait introduces
the reader to the idea that art reveals more about people than about art itself. In both works we
are introduced to two very significant artistic symbols: Dorian Gray s portrait and the painting
made by Kurtz. Both are described as sinister, and they both provide an insight into the
characters souls, in their own unique way. With Dorian we refer to a more literal view into his
soul, as his portrait is a magical symbol that portrays it. This is perhaps the biggest symbol in
Wilde s novel. The portrait allows him to stay young but reflects all of his being into a single
picture. One noteworthy reflection is that of the red spot of blood in his hand. This represents the
blood that is in Dorian s hands after... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His painting is that of a draped, blindfolded woman carrying a lighted torch in the darkness.
There have been many interpretations to his painting. Some critics argue that the blindfolded
woman represents justice; others say that it represents a blind Europe trying to bring the light of
civilization into the African continent. While I do not disagree with these ideas, I do have an
interpretation of my own. I believe that the painting represents humanity as a whole. We are
surrounded by darkness but because we carry a light we believe that it is not there, thus we wear
a blindfold either because we don t believe that darkness is there or because we are simply too
afraid to see ourselves surrounded by it. We need to consider that Kurtz painted this before he
went down his dark path, therefore this is a view into his soul before it was touched by darkness.
Perhaps the painting represents how he viewed himself: surrounded by darkness but unable to see
it because he was blindfolded, and that blindfold was society trying to hide the very concept of
darkness and light, or good and evil, from man in order to

Destructive Royal Family In Hamlet
William Shakespeare s Hamlet follows a character s struggle to be loyal to his late father to avenge
his death at the hands of his uncle. The play has an important emphasis on family and highlights the
supportive and destructive nature of these household relationships. Shakespeare uses the characters
of Hamletand his uncle Claudius to show the death and destruction that these relatives bring to their
family. He also utilises the imagery rich dialogue in Hamlets soliloquies and his confrontation with
his mother to accentuate the positives and negatives of his family s actions. Finally the playwright
uses the example of Polonius supportive family to contrast with the destructive royal family to

English Song Critique
The first goal I set for the second quarter was to Write and record an English song. While I did not
completely finish a song, I developed instrumentals, lyrics, and melody lines for two songs.
Interestingly, I brainstormed the ideas for both projects while walking my dog, Bandit.
The first, which I have tentatively titled Melody, started with me humming a rhythmic piano part,
then a melody line. Next, I developed the instrumental in GarageBand, with an electric guitar part as
a placeholder for the vocals. I found some really cool techno/electronic effects, percussion parts,
and bass parts, and utilized them in my project. I scribbled some rough lyric ideas, then brought

While I was singing, I couldn t help but feel that the song sounded Taylor Swift like, which is a

Examples Of Narcissism In The Fountainhead
The Fountainhead, Who s the happiest? In The Fountainhead, we see Rand s main character,
Howard Roark, and his ensemble of supporting characters go through different forms of what is
known as rational objectivism and it s antithesis, more specifically, egoism, altruism, and
narcissism. In Aristotle s Proud Man, we see characteristics of narcissism in the type of proud man
Aristotle describes, most specifically that a proud man thinks himself to be, and is, worthy of great
things. However, these people are also quick to show hatred, which certainly doesn t fit the idea of
happiness. In The Fountainheadwe see both Roark and Dominique, good representations of both

The way that simply offer voice to the Macbeth s lethargic desire would appear to affirm this
thought, however this is countered by the way that Banquo additionally sees the same witches
and hears them talk. The dagger of the mind is one and only of numerous mental appearances in
the play. As the bodyguards murmur God bless us in their smashed trance, Macbeth finds that he
can t articulate the request to God word Amen. A mental abstract investigator may see this as a
physical failure to talk, created by Macbeth s deadening uncertainty about the accuracy of the
homicide. The inward universe of the mind in this way forces itself on the physical world. The
same can be said for the voice that Macbeth hears crying Macbeth shall sleep no more . A

Analysis Of The Movie Falling Down
The movie Falling Down portrays many examples of the movie reflecting, influencing, and
changing society. The movie reflects society s many flaws such as inflation of prices and
unneeded budget spending. The movie also influences others to point out society s flaws by
using force. Finally, the movie changes society by showing the movie in the point of view of a
person that is classified as a realist. In the movie, the main character, Michael Douglas walks
into a convenience store and intends to buy a Coke. But, the store owner says that the Coke is
$1. Douglas tells the store owner he is wrong and that it should cost .50 cents. Douglas later on a
rampage, asks how much other food items are worth and he then finds out that the food products
are way too overpriced. In retaliation, he destroys the food items with a club. He does this until
the store owner agrees on the price of .50 cents. Another example of Falling Down reflecting on
the flaws of society is when Douglas confronts the construction worker on unneeded budget
spending. Douglas tells the construction worker saying that the road being shut down to make a
tunnel is ridiculous and a waste of taxpayers money and to show his frustration, he uses a rocket
launcher to blow up the tunnel. In conclusion, this is how Michael Douglas reflects on society s
flaws. In order to retaliate against society s flaws, Michael Douglas uses force. After Michael was

The March On Washington For Jobs And Freedom

On Wednesday, August 28th in the year 1963, a historical first step was taken at the Washington

beginning of an event that shaped the nation, perhaps even the world;
The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. This march was organized by civil rights
activists who shared a common objective: the social and economic equality of Americans. One such
activist was the educated and charismatic Martin Luther King Jr., whose iconic I Have a Dream

the march, one of the largest and arguably most influential in America s history, I would be
further inspired to embark on the pathway toward a political career. Although this protest was not
an official effort by the United State s government itself, I believe events like this are what make
the foundation of our government. Our government should stay true to a reflection of the people s
values and beliefs, and this march forced the government to stay true to it s people in the best way
possible. The leaders of this march were people who shaped political history as well, and continue
to do so. For example, John Lewis was, at the time of the March on Washington, a chairman of the
Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. Today, half a century later, he is an active member of
the House of Representatives. Did John Lewis know that this march would cement his place in the
halls of history for centuries to come? Attending this march was so powerful it shaped the course
of people s lives. If I got the chance to witness it, would that give me the inspiration to

1.The first theme is Afro Eurasian trade world, this trade united both products, people, and countries

made up of the ports surrounding the South China sea.

Remembrance is a Substantial Burden in the Book, The...
Remembrance; the mental impression on the brain from a certain event. Each soldier in the book,
The Things They Carried, experiences some sort of remembrance whether it be saddening or
enlightening. Remembrance is consistently perceived as the ability our brains have to go back and
revisit moments in time which either disturb us, or give to us a feeling of pure happiness. Its mere
sound provokes thought along with curiosity. Generally, when we are alone, surrounded by a
nonchalant atmosphere, our brainswirls with thoughts, taking us back to significant moments in our
lives. These moments are never forgotten, they are always there for some sort of reason. By means
of these memories we can continue to learn from our mistakes and better our lifestyle.
In Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried, he presents his view on remembrance. O Brien doesn t
necessarily see remembrance in its materialistic form, he believes it is not about the act of
remembering, but about the fact that one does not have the ability to forget these events, especially
the events he had experienced. His perspective is that seeing a plethora of violent deaths in war, are
moments which are utterly effortless to recall, however they may be extraordinarily difficult to
bring up with someone else perhaps who does not really understand the intentions. By telling
stories, you objectify your own experience. You separate it from yourself. You pin down certain
truths. You make up others. You start sometimes with an

How Women s Sexuality Is Portrayed By Hip Hop Music Videos
This research paper will examine the difference in how women s sexuality is portrayed in hip hop
music videos. Are women empowered, or are they objectified when they express their sexuality?
The public image of how women move, speak, sound, look, dance, talk, dress, and act is controlled
by corporate networks who present these societal norms to people through many mediums.
Dominating how women are portrayed in music videos, men are introducing audiences to certain
tropes and ideals women are expected to live up to. This heteronormative, White malefantasy, is
unrealistic for women and creates an unhealthy obsession and expectation that females of all
sizes and races are supposed to embody. In Women in Popular Music Media Empowered or
Exploited? (p.9), Jamie Glantz asks Are women represented as the subjects of their own desires,
or do they seem to be preforming as the objects of someone else s? Men and women alike intend
for women to follow these societal rules. Audiences do not realize the messages they are being fed
through hip hop music videos. The popular, male vocalized, music videofor the summer hit of 2013

Essay On Should The Uk Leave The European Union
The United Kingdom made the right choice to leave the European Union, because they no
longer have to pay membership fees, it makes it harder for terrorists to get in, and they can gain
more independence. The UK left because they didn t want to pay membership fees to the EU.
The UK will saving money not have to pay membership fees. According to Full Fact, The UK
pays more into the EU budget than it gets back. ( The UK and EU Membership Fees, 2017) This
is saying that when the UK paid the EU, they did receive money but they gave the EU more, than
what they got. In 2016 the UK spend ВЈ13.1 billion in membership fees to the EU. Overall the UK
got back ВЈ4.5 billion of that, so in the end the UK loses ВЈ8.6 billion. This fact shows that leaving

Some researches argued that case study method does not provide the complete picture and
provides a weak reference (Luck, Jackson, Usher, 2006) (Meyer, 2001) (Thomas, 2010) (Tight,
2010). To address the problem raised by some researches, the study uses multiple case studies with
different scenarios in the media industry i.e. two different issues in the organization and how
managers and team responded to the problem. Using multiple cases provides richer data, more
insights and key knowledge points that sometimes are missed or overlooked in the first case
(Bhattacherjee, 2012). Similarly, the generalizability can be improved by performing the two
different case studies under the same neutral settings. It helps to come to conclusions and findings
in a comprehensive way (Bhattacherjee, 2012). Three interviews per case are conducted involving
an expert and manager involved in the Business Process IT Decision making, an expert involved in
the Business Process IT implementation and one specialist involved in the other business processes
that have direct impact on the final outcome of the business process, for example after the BPIT

Summary Of Balzac And The Little Seamstress
In communist, Mao ruled China, children were ripped from their families to be reeducated to
have individual intellect snuffed out and made to better fit the mold of the ideal communist. Dai
Sijie s Balzac and the Little Seamstress tells the story of two boys subjected to this practice. A
boy named Luo and an unnamed narrator who are put through the difficulties of being forced into
another way of life. . In pages 142 144 the headman of the village the protagonists are staying in

The shocked and flabbergasted diction of this section lends itself to a similar purpose. The
surprise that the narrator shows when Luo initially begins the procedure is indicative to the fear
within the protagonists and the absurdity of the situation as a whole. When the narrator says:
what the devil had got into him? (Sijie 142) it shows the reader that the strangeness of the scene
had not escaped the notice of those involved. The befuddled diction continues when the narrator
says: even today it confounds me (Sijie 142) showing that the situation his oddness was not
reduced with time. Overall, this section sets the scene for an intense and decisively odd
situation. In the second section of this passage, the author uses a horrific imagery and tone, as
well as a fearful diction to show the narrator s impending sense of dread as he comes to realize
that his repressed hate is rearing its head. When headman is put into the vulnerable position of the
operation, the tone of the piece darkens and creates foreboding and menace. When the drill is in
the patient s mouth, the narrator describes the noise made as dreadful gurgling (Sijie 143) and
uses words such as juddered (Sijie 143) and trembled (Sijie 143) in describing the movement of the
headman. This dark tone foreshadows the emergence of the narrator s sadistic

An Analysis Of Walt Disney s The Lucky Rabbit Shorts
While many were shocked at the blatant racism displayed in The Song of the South, it is not the
first piece of Disney animation to feature controversial material. Walt Disney s Oswald the
Lucky Rabbit shorts had quite a bit of adult humor in it. In one short, Oswald gets chased by a
bear into a cave where a fight takes place. Oswald comes out wearing a fur coat and the bear
comes out wearing nothing but a bra and panties (Griffin, 2000). A closer look at Disney films
may also indicate that Disney may have subtly used their films to speak out about political and
religious issues. In certain films, there seems to be set values based off of Western Christian
beliefs. The film Bambi is also thought to send a message about gun control... Show more content

The Disney Company is an empire, branching off into many different aspects of our society. One
of those aspects is vacation destinations, or more specifically, Disney s theme park. Eight out of
eleven of Disney s parks are among the most visited vacation destinations in the world. When
developing his parks, Walt Disney wanted people to feel as if they were placed right in the middle
of their favorite story, a goal that has very much been obtained. From honeymoons to family
vacations, Disney parks have an undeniable charm to them that keep the public coming back
(Knight 2014). For the most part, these parks are a place to escape the hustle and bustle of the
outside world. A place where adults and children alike can live in the magic for a little while, to
be the main character in their favorite stories. To some, however, the parks are just a symbol of
Disney s mass greed. In the book Team Rodent: How Disney Devours the World , the author tells
us how ironic it is that people visit these parks as a way to escape the very world that Disney has
created. One of the greatest ironies upon visiting Disney World is the wave of relief that
overwhelms you upon entering the place relief to be free of the nerve shattering traffic and the

The History Of Howard Hughes Aircraft Company
Howard Hughes was a successful Hollywood movie producer when he founded the Hughes
Aircraft Company in 1932. He personally tested cutting edge aircraft of his own design and in
1937 broke the transcontinental flight time record. In 1938, he flew around the world in a
record three days, 19 hours, and 14 minutes. Following the U.S. entrance into World War II in
1941, the U.S. government commissioned the Hughes Aircraft Company to build a large flying
boat capable of carrying men and materials over long distances. Because of wartime restrictions
on steel, Hughes decided to build his aircraft out of wood laminated with plastic and covered
with fabric, and they had a wingspan of 320 feet and was powered by eight giant propeller
engines. Development of the Spruce Goose cost a phenomenal $23 million and took so long that
the war had ended by the time of its completion in 1946. The aircraft had many detractors, and
Congress demanded that Hughes prove the plane airworthy. On November 2, 1947, Hughes
obliged, taking the prototype out into Long Beach Harbor, CA for an unannounced flight test.
Thousands of onlookers had come to watch the aircraft taxi on the water and were surprised when
Hughes lifted his wooden behemoth 70 feet above the water and flew for a mile before landing....

It took place in countries such as South Vietnam, North Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. The war was a huge blow to the United States pride and military, so much that there were lotteries for soldiers. There were five presidents in office during the war, but the main presidents that had a big impact on being involved were Dwight Eisenhower, Lyndon B. Johnsonand Richard Nixon. Although the objectives of the U.S being involved were good intentioned, there are many reasons to support that it was an Unjustifiable war due to the casualties. • 5. Analysis Of Carrie Chapman Catt s Speech To Congress Carrie Chapman Catt was an extraordinary woman and activist promoting the rights of women for their political freedoms. Moreover, Catt s background as a principal, teacher, superintendent of schools, and women s activist gave credibility to her being a well educated and refined woman, providing the ethos of her claim. (History.com) For this reason, she was more than capable of advocating for all women of our great country in the fight to allow women the right to a say in their government by giving them the right to vote. Catt argued in her speech to Congress in 1917 that Woman suffrage was inevitable. (qtd. in Edinmuller) Through applying ethos, presenting logos, and most importantly emphasizing pathos lead to the success of Catt s impassioned speech to Congress. The construction of this speech convinced her audience that change is inevitable as well as necessary for this country to become the great... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many years later, Abraham Lincoln stated that ours is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. (Lincoln, Gettysburg Address) Again, women are still not included in this generalized statement of equality. In addition, Woodrow Wilson also made similar contradictory statements of equality in their wartime. Logically, these leaders spoke of the equality of men but failed to acknowledge the equality of women to men. By 2014, Kesha began a lawsuit against Dr. Luke for having an unlawful contract. Dr. Luke s contract enabled him to control every aspect of her life. The lawsuit claimed that Dr. Luke verbally, physically, sexually, and emotionally abused her to the point where she almost lost her life. In 2017, after being freed from the contract, Kesha released Praying to express the impact Dr. Luke had on her. I am relating this song to the misuses of power and influence found in chapter twelve. • 8. Junie B Jones Research Paper When I was a child, reading meant a magical story that I believed would come true when I grew up. Reading today is antithetic to how it was back in my childhood days. Having a want to read, meant that the library would become my best friend. As a child, my parents wanted me to stay active, which meant I was either at a ball tournament, camping, playing outside, or playing games with my friends, but I made sure I read before bed or on my way to and from ball games. When I was in preschool and elementary school my favorite books to read were The Rainbow Fish and the Junie B. Jones series. The Rainbow Fish was my favorite book because I remember seeing the cover of the book with all its vibrant colors that drew me to read it, which looking at the pictures were good enough for my attention span. Junie B. Jones book series were my favorite in grade school because I could relate Junie B. Jones life because I was the same age going through the same issues. The series was popular for children my age at our school, which we made a competition of who can read all the books first. • 9. Essay on Apartheid in South Africa Blacks shared the pain of Apartheid in one of the darkest periods in history. Blacks were horribly oppressed by tyrants who obliterated their happy, healthy lives for nothing more then their own interests. Many Laws were passed that restricted blacks from the freedoms that all people should rightfully obtain from birth. White South Africanstook the black population by the throat, making it hard for blacks to live as happy people. Black South Africans were held in a form of imprisonment and could do little to fight back, causing Apartheidto be one of the darkest periods in black history. In the 1950 s some changes occurred. The migrant labor act was abolished because the government did not feel the need to segregate the cities as much as they did in the past. So initially blacks were stuck on rural reserves most of the time and were being treated worse and worse. This was called the Bantu authorities act, established 1951. On a good note, there were people on the Black African s side from the beginning. Prime Minister Smuts wrote, quot; The idea that natives must all be removed and confined in their kraals is in my opinion, the greatest nonsense I have ever heard. quot; (Smuts 1) Steven Biko wrote, The government of our nation is full of tyranny (Biko 1) Despite all the fighting back, apartheid was a loosing battle for blacks in South Africa until the late 1900 s. Apartheid took off in 1948 when the national party won the election. It was all downhill from there for the blacks. In 1950 the population registration act was passed. This act classified people as either white, black, or Bantu. The apartheid fooled other countries into believing it was a lifting in a state of emergency. In 1951 many whites did not like the black people so a commission was formed to set and regulate segregation laws. In 1952, Nelson Mandela and Tambo opened the first black legal firm. This was a small step for the blacks at the time. In 1953 the public safety act and criminal law amendment were passed which allowed the government to enforce ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Battle Of The War Essay IV. Essay On December twenty third of the year 1776, Thomas Paine wrote the renowned words, These are the times that try men s souls. Never had truer words been written. Not only was the revolution trying for the men of the colonial army, but for the British army, and all those who had something riding on the outcome of the war. Though they were subjected to different sides of the war, George Washington, King George III of England and William Howe all experienced the hardships and trying times of the year 1776. General George Washington knew that he lacked experience with almost all aspects of the war. He had retired from military life fifteen years before the revolution, and had never led an army in battle, commanded anything more than a regiment or directed a siege. He accepted the command of the army on June 16, 1775 where he warned Congress, [should] some unlucky event happen unfavorable to my reputation...may it be remembered by every gentleman in the room that I this day declared with the utmost sincerity, I do not think myself equal to the command I am honored with. (McCullough Pg. 49) Washington knew his limits, but what he did not know was the state of disarray that the army was in. Washington arrived in Boston the first week of July, 1775. No head count had been taken, and when an official count was taken, Washington learned that instead of the twenty thousand men he had been informed he had, he had sixteen thousand with only fourteen thousand fit for duty. ... Impacts of Industrialization Industrialization began when Britain was eager to invest money into creating machinery to make textiles to avoid paying India to export cotton textiles. Since the British empire had a lot of power and had widespread colonization, they had the money to invest in raw materials. In the late 1700 s Britain wanted to produce their own cotton textiles, so they began exporting the raw material, cotton, to make textiles from India. In 1750 s textile mill were created to be able to produce larger quantities of cotton textiles in a shorter amount of time through the use of more complex machinery. While India continued to make cotton textiles by hand, Britain no longer needed cotton from India when the advanced technology allowed for Britain to rapidly produce cotton. After textile machines were produced, household became urbanized when children needed to travel to factories in the cities to help produce cotton textiles. Clothes became mass produced after textile mills, allowed for the clothes to be identically produce in large quantities. Mass production of identical products causes the prices to drop because the advances in technology reduces the amount of laborers needed to make the same product. More technological advances revolutionized the work industry, people were trained to do one task repeatedly, being apart of the assembly line. • 17. The Treaty of Versailles In 1919 at the Paris Peace Conference The Treaty of Versailles was formally drafted and World War I was finally brought to an end. The treaty was drafted by the Allied Powers, which consisted of Great Britain, France and the United States. This treaty blamed the war solely on Germany, and it required them to pay an amount of $33 billion dollars in reparations, cede all of colonies, dismantle their air force, and greatly reduce their other military operations (German Delegation, 291). The German army was reduced to 100,000 men, and they were not allowed to have access to any tanks for their military. They were only given permission in the treaty to only be granted access to 6 capital naval ships to help defend their coastline, but they were not given any access to submarines which would help them attack, or become undetected. They were also to agree that the area that was to the west of the Rhineland and the area that was 50 kms east of the River Rhine was to be made into a demilitarized zone or (DMZ). A (DMZ) is an area of which no German soldiers or German aiding weapons are to be allowed. The Allies had agreed that they were to keep a standard army occupied on the west bank of the Rhine for 15 years to be able to hold up these treaty agreements. Also, during the drafting of this treaty, Germanywas not allowed to give any input even though that they were the most impacted, and are facing the majority of the consequences. As cultures began to form in the South and Northern colonies, so did mistrust and tensions between them. Differences in Urban and Rural environments, focuses in different areas of expansion, and finally the issue of diversity in both regions. While these differences pushed the colonies farther and farther away, there were similarities between them, keeping the nation together for as long as it could. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The principles in the early South almost never changed until the Civil war, and ideals from the creation of colonies became law, never to be changed. In this way, the South walled itself from those who tried to settle there only to find themselves turned away from society and shunned. Such people would be mixed children, those who were not Christian, and Africans. Tolerance found in the north soon dwindled moving down to the south, a devoutly Christian region until around the mid 1700 s. Lack of communication and commerce with other nations as previously mentioned left the south at a weak point, finding themselves turning others away, while being alone in themselves. A key reason for the intense sense of culture in the modern South is this isolation found early in the history of these colonies, where a sense of pride for these Southern values becomes all encompassing. A bold similarity between the two regions stands out, a core set of values, whether for the North and South. The Northern colonies had a focus on the sciences, and advancement of civilization, while the South wanted nothing more than to live on their precious land, and focus on the plantation life they had come to develop, not eager to branch out into any other ... • 19. Corruption In Culture Why corruption is rampant in sport? Corrupt Culture Corruption has always existed in society and no country will get rid of it entirely. Many people considered that political corruption is a cultural issue. Some of them also stated that gift giving is part of our culture and often be used to quibble their corrupt acts (Larmour, 2012). However, people should not confuse gift giving with bribery or corruption and culture should not long be the excuse of culture. In fact, it is unreasonable to assume that political culture are inherently corrupt and rooted in any society. Political leaders violate social and political norms do not mean that there are no norms (Alatas, 1968). Corruption in politics is the result that political leaders rationally make and economically calculated. In this situation, culture does not play a vital role in this decision. Since corruption is not a cultural circumstance in politics, anti corruption programs might be efficiently implemented. This is because the prevention will not focus on the changes of culture, instead it could aim at the vulnerabilities of a particular moment in corruption history. However, corruption in sport is different from political corruption that there exists a specific and vulnerable environment for corruption. It is mentioned by Boniface (et al., 2012) that most players are trained and live in a closed environment. • 20. The Deer Hunter Analysis The Deer Hunter is a Vietnam war film directed by Michael Cimino released in 1978. It tracks the lives of lifelong friends in a small town before and after three of them go to Vietnam. The main male characters that go to Vietnam are Michael, Nick, and Steven. The beginning of the film shows the kind of friendship they have with one another before becoming a soldier using up about an hour of screentime. The middle of the film shows what they went through during the war, the last part of the film was used to show how they were affected in their lives. What most likely influenced the film like the many other war filmsat the time was the relatively recent end of the Vietnam war. The setting of the film was realistic never did I think while watching that this was something that wouldn t have happened. The atmosphere suggested that Pennsylvania was a quiet place free from trouble, while Vietnam was a place full of mayhem and temptations. There was one very blatant symbol used to foreshadow the events to come. The cups that Steven and his wife drank out of that if not a single drop was spilled would be good luck for the rest of their lives. The camera work of the film was executed well. The close ups helped to build the tension during the Russian roulette scenes. There were very scenic wide shots of the mountains during hunting scenes that helped contrast the intense scenes of the movie by making those scenes more intense when we see them because of how tranquil much of the movie ... • 25. Child Sexual Violence And Sexual Abuse Child on child sexual violence/assault cases has been on the rise. Sexual Violence is defined by Webster s dictionary as any illegal sexual contact that usually involves force upon a person without consent or is inflicted upon a person who is incapable of giving consent (as because of age or physical or mental incapacity) or who places the assailant (as a doctor) in a position of trust or authority. There is growing understanding that the vast majority of children who has experienced sexual assault, are typically assaulted by someone they know, and often times trust (family member, friends of family, their own friends etc.) (Chaffin, 2008). Research indicates that over one third of children sexually assaulted is committed by someone under the age of 18 (Browne Finkelhor, 1986; Paolucci et al., 2001). Sexually victimized youth experiences greater risk for a multitude of antisocial behaviors and sexualized behaviors compared to those who have not experienced sexual victimizations (Browne Finkelhor, 1986; Paolucci et al., 2001). Tragic events are reported nearly every day such as the 2009 Gabriel Myers case involving the 7 year old boy who had previously been sexually assaulted by another child and later ended his own life. Whether it is studying for a difficult project, running from danger, or working to hit a goal at a certain time, perseverance is necessary to help one carry himself or herself. Sometimes it stands for something simple. Sometimes it means life, death, or even self worth. Thus, perseverance can be defined as someone or something trying to complete a task no matter the degree of challenge or obstacles. Perseverance is a trait shared by a few of the major characters in the stories, A Tale of Two Cities and Les Miserables including the protagonists and antagonists. Dr. Manette shows perseverance in many ways in the story, A Tale of Two Cities. Charles Darnay, the own nephew of the Marquis St. Evremond who banished him to the Bastille for eighteen years, tries to marry his daughter by making promises with Dr. Manette. This shows that he is a man who displays great perseverance when selecting the best husband for his daughter, one that will make her happy. He also exhibits great perseverance when Darnay gets put on trial many times and Dr. Manette tries to prove his innocence using many resources. Lastly, he shows perseverance when he tries to work through his multiple relapses. These are times in which he almost seems lifeless and mechanical. While I do not disagree with these ideas, I do have an interpretation of my own. I believe that the painting represents humanity as a whole. We are surrounded by darkness but because we carry a light we believe that it is not there, thus we wear a blindfold either because we don t believe that darkness is there or because we are simply too afraid to see ourselves surrounded by it. We need to consider that Kurtz painted this before he went down his dark path, therefore this is a view into his soul before it was touched by darkness. This march was organized by civil rights activists who shared a common objective: the social and economic equality of Americans. Our government should stay true to a reflection of the people s values and beliefs, and this march forced the government to stay true to it s people in the best way possible. The leaders of this march were people who shaped political history as well, and continue to do so. For example, John Lewis was, at the time of the March on Washington, a chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. Today, half a century later, he is an active member of the House of Representatives. Did John Lewis know that this march would cement his place in the halls of history for centuries to come? Each soldier in the book, The Things They Carried, experiences some sort of remembrance whether it be saddening or enlightening. Remembrance is consistently perceived as the ability our brains have to go back and revisit moments in time which either disturb us, or give to us a feeling of pure happiness. Its mere sound provokes thought along with curiosity. Generally, when we are alone, surrounded by a nonchalant atmosphere, our brainswirls with thoughts, taking us back to significant moments in our lives. These moments are never forgotten, they are always there for some sort of reason. By means of these memories we can continue to learn from our mistakes and better our lifestyle. In Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried, he presents his view on remembrance. O Brien doesn t necessarily see remembrance in its materialistic form, he believes it is not about the act of remembering, but about the fact that one does not have the ability to forget these events, especially the events he had experienced. His perspective is that seeing a plethora of violent deaths in war, are moments which are utterly effortless to recall, however they may be extraordinarily difficult to bring up with someone else perhaps who does not really understand the intentions.
