Solid Waste
Managment
What is Solid Waste Management?
 Solid waste is the unwanted or useless
solid materials generated from
combined residential, industrial and
commercial activities in a given area.

Waste Management in Developed
Country
 Waste handling practices: In
North America and Europe people use
wheel waste bin for waste and it is
collected by specialized truck.

Country
 Financial models: In most
developed countries, people have to
pay a national or local tax which
may be related to income or
notional house value.

Country
Landfill: A place to
dispose of refuse and other
waste material by burying it
and covering it over with
soil, especially as a method
of filling in or extending
usable land.

Incineration: Incineration
is a disposal method in which
solid organic wastes are
subjected to combustion so as
to convert them into residue
and gaseous products.

Recycling: People in developed
country recycle their waste and turn
it into new products.

Waste Management In Bangladesh
 Bangladesh has minimal waste collection
coverage which forces majority of the
waste to be dumped in open lands. These
waste are not disposed of properly, where
general waste are often mixed with
hazardous waste such as hospital
waste. In a report on solid waste
management in Asia, the data showed
that, in Dhaka, only about 42% of
generated waste is collected and dumped
at landfill sites, and the rest are left
uncollected. As much as 400 tons are
dumped on the roadside and in open
space. As such, these improperly
disposed waste poses serious health
implications to the people where it may
have the potential of transmitting
diseases. Road side waste at Notunbazar,Dhaka
Solution For Bangladesh
Control Waste
Reduce
Reuse
recycle
Solution For Bangladesh
 1. Avoid wasting food
 2. Avoid unwanted products.
 3.Think before shop
 4. Distribute unwanted goods to others
 5. Use reusable products.
Reduce: Reduce your waste in 5 waste
Solution For Bangladesh
 We need obtain a habit of reuse
of our materials. This will reduce
our daily waste. For Bangladesh
we it is essential to have a habit of
reuse.
Reusing of materials
Recycling of materials
Recycling is the best way to reduce waste.
To recycle products we need to learn how
to recycle it. Students should taught in
school about it.
If we maintain this cycle our waste will be reduce than before.
Solution For Bangladesh
To get a stable waste management system in our country we need to
maintain some extra facilities such as
 1. Modern landfill
 2. Incineration
 3. waste handling practice
Developed countries using these method. Being an under developing country
we should follow their system.
Solution For Bangladesh
 Social Awareness:
Social awareness is the main thing that can give us a clean living
place. If we don’t be conscious about waste than it will be
impossible to manage the waste by government. For Bangladesh
people should be more conscious about it.
