1. SIADH (syndrome of inappropriate antidiuresis) is a condition characterized by hyponatremia caused by excessive secretion of antidiuretic hormone (ADH). 2. It can be caused by various pulmonary, neurological, oncological and other medical conditions. Common culprit drugs include ADH analogs, SSRIs, antipsychotics and NSAIDs. 3. Management involves fluid restriction and slow correction of sodium levels to avoid osmotic demyelination syndrome, which is a serious complication of too rapid correction. Vasopressin receptor antagonists are also being studied.
