An Analysis Of Okonkwo s Things Fall Apart
In Things Fall Apart the novel, Okonkwo was determined to be nothing like his father Unoka,
this strict adherence to masculine standards, (which causes the destruction of his family, creates
dissent in his tribe, and leads him to his death) supports the value of the feminine in Igbo culture.
Though it may seem that women are seen as the weaker sex in Ibgo society, (E., Skwiot personal
comment, August 23, 2016) The novel is set at the end of the twentieth century. It describes in
detail about life in an African culture very different from Western culture. Okonkwo brought
honor to his village by wrestling and putting down Amalinze the Cat, a man that was undefeated
for his wrestling throughout all nine villages of Umuofia. He was quick tempered, he did not
like dealing with unproductive men like his father, who died very much in debt (Achebe, 1994).
However, because of Unoka s laziness and carelessness, the village had thought of him as a
failure and a fool; he was a constant reminder to Okonkwo of how lazy he was. Although, Unoka
had a family to support, he was constantly borrowing money and them wasting it on Palm wine
and celebrating with his neighbors, while his family, done without food to eat. Unoka thought
nothing of his responsibilities, his priority was living his life to the fullest. He played the flute
very well, he was happy and serene while playing his flute, his music had sounds of grief and
sorrows (CliffsNotes, 2016). Unoka never took a title because of

Descriptive Magic World
Disney World the most magical place on earth, they say. It happens to be the worst experience of
a six year old life. Let s begin with a little background information of the six year old. I was
scared of everything that moved inside or outside or in the dark. Major fears dinosaurs, ghosts,
bugs. My tale begins with this wonderful adventure of the Magical World of Disney.
We arrived; it was beautiful the grounds were a lush green and so amazing looking. Then
suddenly out of the corner of my eye, I saw it coming straight for me. He was flat on the ground
just sliding forward his mouth was opening wide it was getting closer. I could see each tooth
super sharp, I m too afraid to move all of a sudden I hear a snap. I literally jumped out of my
skin. Then I saw it the tail of a squirrel hang out of his mouth. I guess better him than me. It hits me
the happiest place on earth; I wonder how that could be.
Here comes the family they are super excited we are getting on a boat and traveling to the
Animal Kingdom Park. The Animal Kingdom where the wild animals roam free, that last animal
was already roaming free, just the place I want to be. When we first arrived in the park I saw it

animals. Such as Komodo Dragons, Parrots, Eagles, Elephants the type of stuff and you were able
to feed it was such a nice place, till the unthinkable happened. My family thought it would be a cool

Market vs. Command Economy Essay
Market vs. Command Economy What is the main purpose of the economic system? The main
purpose of the economic system is method used to produce and distribute goods and service. The
three economic questions are: What goods should be produced? How should these goods and
services be produced And Who consumes these goods and services? The characteristic of a market
economicsis that self interest is the motivating force in the free market, self regulating market. The
interaction of buyers and sellers motivated by self interest and regulated by competition, all happen
without a central plan. In a market economy, economic decisions are made by individuals and are
based on exchange or trade. However, characteristics of a command economic... Show more content

Firms buy productive resources in return for making factor payments at factor prices. Product
market is a mechanism that allows people to easily buy and sell products. The interaction
between product and factor markets involves the principle of derived demand. Derived demand
refers to the demand for productive resources, which is derived from the demand for final goods
and services or output. Firms obtain the inputs or factors of production in the factors markets.
The goods are sold in the products markets. In most respects these markets are the same. Price is
determined by the interaction of supply and demand, firm s attempt to maximize profits, factors
can influence and change the equilibrium price and quantities bought and sold and the laws of
supply and demand hold. Consumers (households), in pursuit of their self interest, have the
incentive to look for lower prices. An incentive is the hope of reward or fear of punishment that
encourages a person to behave in a certain way. Free market offer a wider variety of goods and
services, and consumers in essence decide what gets produced which is called consumer
sovereignty. Additionally, Centrally Planned Economies usually involve 2 types of government:

Movie Do The Right Thing
Actor and director Spike Lee portrays his truth about racial relations in his well known movie
Do the Right Thing. The film takes place in 1989 exhibiting the issues of black discrimination
and racial altercations. Serious and frustrated, Lee stays true to the ethnicity of his characters,
reflecting their own individualism. The main character in the film, Mookie, sets the
temperature extremely high towards the end portion of the movie when he does an unexpected
action. One of the many questions at the end of the film is whether Mookie does the right thing
when he chucks the garbage can through the window, yelling the word hate , thus provoking the
riot that destroys Sal s pizzeria. I see Mookie s action as an appropriate wise decision because he
directs a less personal attack towards Sal by targeting Sals building, to channel the anger that
was spreading throughout the community over Raheem s murder, and lastly Mookie was
standing up for his community. Mookie was a courageous young man for his unexpected act.
Mookie (Spike Lee) is a young hardworking teenager living in a black and Puerto Rican
neighborhood. He lives with his sister Jade and girlfriend Tina. Trying to support his girlfriend
and their newborn baby, he works vigorously as a sole black employee of pizza deliveryman for
a local white owned pizzeria down their neighborhood. The pizzeria s Italian American owner is an

The Competitive Landscape Of The Quick Service Restaurant
The Competitive Landscape Companies in the Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) industry
compete mainly on efficient operations and effective marketing. Usually, large companies enjoy
advantages over small companies in terms of purchasing, finance, and marketing. But small
companies can still compete by improving their products and services. The US is the global
QSR market leader, taking 20% of global industry revenues (Hoovers). According to Porter, an
industry has to have sustainable profits for firms to foresee in order to make firms profitable and
successful (Porter, 3). However, according to our research the QSR industry is in danger of
reaching unsustainable profit margins if industry leaders fail to adapt their business practices to
this volatile market. The dining culture has changed over the years as people have become more
aware of healthy eating lifestyle. This trend is expected to continuously dictate future market
demand. Another factor to determine a company s success mentioned by Porter s is industry
positioning (Porter, 1985). The position in the industry is crucial for companies who have
empathies for their customers health. Many of them are not dominant firms in QSR industry and
some of them are emerging in the industry. They need to find the exquisite balance in terms of
market positioning to incept their success. Porter s Five Forces Porter s five forces will have a

Essay on Explain the Purpose of an Operating System
Explain the purpose of an operating system Process Management A multitasking operating system
may give the appearance that a lot of processes are running concurrently/simultaneously, this is not
true as only one process can be executing at any one time on a single core CPU, unless on a multi
core or similar technology. Processes are often called tasks in embedded operating systems. The
function of the task or process is something that takes up time, as opposed to memory, which is
something that takes up space or capacity For security and reliability reasons most modern
operating systems prevent direct communication between independent processes, providing strictly

Philadelphia Descriptive Writing
After a long boring plane trip with my mom, dad, and grandma, we arrived at Philadelphia. We
found a nice hotel and stayed in a small town nearby. Philadelphia is the sight of hundreds of
historical sights and is the second largest city on the east coast. The hustle and bustle of
Philadelphia affected my mom but when we found Pat s King of Steaks we had a delicious lunch,
and dinner was eaten at a Phillies game, downtown. The next day we drove around all the
historical sights like Independence Hall, and I finally got to see the Liberty Bell! However, others
don t like Philadelphiabecause of the traffic and crowds. Leaving Philadelphia was sad but the next
part was supposed to be more fun. The area around Philadelphia is supposed to be beautiful, and it

The Gospel According To Matthew Research Paper
The Gospel According to Matthew was written at a time of uncomfortable tensions. People had
pride for their Jewishness but hated the Jewish establishments. They believed that the way to
heaven was not with Jewish institutions but rather with the people and an allegiance to Jesus. The
Gospel According to Matthew was almost an attempt to respond to the crises posed by the
destruction of the temple. The community the Gospel of Matthew was for was a community which
is both faithful to its scriptural heritage and open to the new directions demanded by Jesus
proclamation of the kingdom of heaven, and therefore necessarily expanding beyond the bounds of
the Jewish people. The Gospel According to Matthew was written for a Jewish group, which...

Though it couldn t have been written in Jerusalem since it was written after the Jewish war which
means there were very little, to no, Jews there and the city was destroyed for the most part. If it was
written somewhere else in Palestine it would have not been written in Greek, but rather Aramaic
which was the language of Palestine at that time. Since it was written in Greek it is highly unlikely
that Matthew was written anywhere in Palestine. The next possibility for the location of Matthew s
authorship is Caesarea Maritima, which would make sense since there is a lot of conflict in
Matthew with the Pharisees and formative Judaism. Those who lived near Palestine felt this
conflict and since Caesarea Maritima is near there this conflict would make sense for a Gospel
written in such a location. Though it is highly unlikely that the Gospel was written there since the
population was mostly gentile. This is because during the Jewish war most Jews that lived in
Caesarea Maritima were either killed or left because they felt threatened. The next possibility as to
where the Gospel was written is somewhere in Syria, outside of Antioch, since this is one of the last
remaining options that make sense. More specifically scholars think that it may have been written
in northeastern Syria since there is a connection between the M material found in Matthew and
certain eastern religious traditions in Mithraism, Zoroastrianism, and Buddhism. However the
problem with this hypothesis is the language in this area is Syriac, not Greek. Since Matthew was
written in Greek it is highly unlikely it was written in Syria outside of Antioch. This leads to the
best option as to where Matthew was written, Antioch on the Orontes. The strongest argument for
this location is since the author is not certain, in order for Matthew to have become so popular and
later be accepted as Apostolic the

Greek and Etruscans around the 1st and 2nd century AD. Romans not only used art as a form of
decoration, but they used it to emphasize their power and wealth. They sculptured busts as
propaganda to convey political messages. Many large statues of emperors were created to
immortalize them as deities throughout the empire. Such statues were often made with bronze. A

How Does Napoleon Use Power In Animal Farm
Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world (Mandela).
Napoleon realizes this truth and takes full advantage of it early on in the story. In George Orwell
s allegorical novel Animal Farm, Napoleon seizes control of the now independent farm. He allows
the pigs to be educated and excludes the others. However, he personally educates some puppies,
foreseeing them as a powerful weapon to gain full authority over the animalsand to reduce distrust
that could lead to revolt. As he continues to rule, he acquires more power and he uses it to violate
and change laws so that they best benefit him and his reign. Napoleon s main focus in ruling

Fortunately for him, he already wields the power of education, enabling him to rise almost
effortlessly to power; With their superior knowledge it was natural that they should assume
leadership (pg. 21). This is a subtle infraction of the principles clearly stated in the commandments
of Animalism. Equality is supposed to apply to everyone and every situation, but the animals are
accustomed to having a leader, therefore, it is second nature for them to rely on a person higher
than them. Sadly for the majority of the naГЇve animals, the pigs ascend to power simply because
the weapon of education is pointing at them and they are found weaponless and unable to defend
themselves. Animalism is turned into an oligarchy, rule by the elite, in this case the pigs are the
elite because they are more educated than the animals. Napoleon not only wants power over the
lowly farm animals, but he seeks absolute control over the entire farm, including the remaining
pigs. To do this, he again takes advantage of the power that lies in education; He said that the
education of the young was more important than anything that could be done for those who were
already grown up (pg. 26). To be a leader, it is vital for

Wilfred Owen Techniques
Wilfred Owens war poetry
Good morning/afternoon teacher and peers,
Wilfred Owen was born in 1893 in Oswestry (United Kingdom). He wanted to be a poet from the
age of nineteen although most of his famous work is that which he wrote in his years spent in the
war where he died in 1918.
The preface to Owens poetry read:
This book is not about heroes. English poetry is not yet fit to speak of them.
Nor is it about deeds, or lands, nor anything about glory, honour, might, majesty, dominion, or
power, except war.
Above all I am not concerned with Poetry.
My subject is war, and the pity of war.
The poetry is in the pity.

Figurative language, as with most poetry, is readily used in much of Owens work because it helps
to create tone and communicate emotion effectively. Let s take a look at the poem mental cases
for a few examples of figurative language. Metaphor, misery swelters surely we have perished.
Simile, bearing teeth that leer like skulls teeth wicked? And also the poem disabled where we see
an example of personification in the line that speaks of how the town used to swing so gay.
Symbolism when it tells of the disabled man wearing his ghastly suit of gray, the gray symbolises
the dullness and shadows that now hang over him.
We often see the use of oxymoron s and paradox when something is being contrasted within a
poem such as a line from the poem dulce et decorum est, gas! GAS! Quick boys! An ecstasy of
fumbling which is used to describe the controlled panic which quickly increases as the men
fumble to put on thier gas masks. A good example of a paradox also from this poem is the line that
Owen writes the devil, sick of sick this is a paradox because the devil is a personification of sin,
this is just another way he portrays how horrific war is.
Rhetorical features are used by Wilfred Owen as it heightens the effect of the language, to create a
more persuasive effect.
Repetition is often used weather this be to make the poem sound monotonous when read such

Writing In The Age Of Distraction Cory Doctorow Summary
The article Writing in the Age of Distraction by Cory Doctorow is an article talking about how the
Internet is often misconceived as a place where procrastination comes alive. In said article,
Doctorow makes a detailed list on how he manages to avoid procrastination and get work done,
while still using the Internet. The first step he lists is setting a goal for yourself and sticking with
it. Choose a number of words or number of pages you want to type for that day and aim for it.
Do not stop before you reach that goal. Similarly, Doctorow says, once you do reach that goal,
stop for the day. Stop in the middle of your sentence even, so that the next time you sit down to
work, you know where to start from. In his exact words, Doctorow states:
When you hit your daily word goal, stop. Stop even if you re in the middle of a sentence.
Especially if you re in the middle of a sentence. That way, when you sit down at the keyboard the
next day, your first five or ten words are already ordained, so that you get a little push before you
begin your work. (Doctorow) He then says that when you are actually sitting down to work, you
need to stop researching. One of the easiest ways to get sidetracked while working is by getting
distracted by information that isn t important for your assignment, but seem relevant at the time.
Set aside specific time for research so you don t end up procrastinating when you should be
working. Another tip Doctorow gives is to remember not to get distracted using your word
processor. Doing things like playing with the font or debating over which color your words
should be in will only kill valuable time. Turning off your cell phone and ignoring social media
notifications is also a great way of making sure you don t end up wasting your own time.
I choose to write about Doctorow s article because I often find myself getting distracted both
before and during the process of writing a paper. Much like Doctorow, I d been instructed by
several high school teachers to stay away from the Internet while writing so I didn t divert my
attention away from the assignment I was supposed to be working on. During the first three years
of high school, I followed this advice almost religiously, and even went so far

because they saw her son strapped to her back and they felt the explorers were peaceful. She also
did the cooking for the other journeymen and made sure everyone was fed.
Lewis helped Sacagawea give birth to her son. Lewis wrote in his journal about five O clock this
evening one of the wives of Charbono was delivered of a fine boy. it is worthy of remark that
this was the first child which this woman had borne, and as is common in such cases her labour
was tedious and the pain violent; Mr. Jessome informed me that he had frequently administered a
small portion of the rattle of the rattlesnake, which he assured me had never failed to produce the
desired effect, that of hastening the birth of the child; having the rattle of a snake by me I gave it
to him and he administered two rings of it to the woman broken in small pieces with the fingers
and added to a small quantity of water. Her labor must have been so painful and scary at this age.
During the expedition Clark really started caring for Jean and asked Charbonneau and Sacagawea
if the could raise him as his old child and give him a good education. It was Clark who had

Muzzles Control-Feeding Health Essay
Muzzles Control Feeding Health
Some horses simply don t know when to stop eating and will graze with startling rapidity. Even
with pellets, certain horses are just not able to control the speed at which they eat. When a
horses consumes a lot of food very quickly, this can cause plenty of health problems. One of the
biggest risks associated with rapid eating is choking, which can be very damaging in the worst
cases. Some owners make use of muzzles to help their horses graze more slowly and control their
intake. A group of researchers recently wondered whether or not the same technique could be used
to help horses who eat huge quantities of pellets in short amounts of time.
The researchers study, led by Doctor Erin Venable, decided to investigate the use of muzzles on
horses who put their bodies at risk by eating pelleted meals very quickly. Choking can be
extremely dangerous and is a big concern for countless horse owners. It s important to understand
that choking in horses is not the same thing as choking in humans. For humans, the problem can be
fatal as it causes a blockage in the trachea, preventing someone from breathing. In horses, choking
simply occurs when the esophagus is blocked. This can make it hard or even impossible for the
animal to swallow, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They used the same type of food to keep the experiment fair, and they also tested out two
different brands of muzzle. One brand, the Easy Breathe Grazing Muzzle (EBGM), allows the
horse to eat via quite a sizeable hole, while the second brand, the Tough 1 Nylon Grazing Muzzle,
has a smaller hole. The research team ran their experiment on eight different horses. They also
went to great care to ensure that their results were reliable, for example they had to use the exact
same weight of pellets for each session and note down any

Compare And Contrast Fugitive Slave Acts Of 1793 And 1850
Compare and contrast the Fugitive Slave Acts of 1793 and 1850 Introduction The federal acts
of 1793 and 1850 provided for the return between states of escaped black slaves. Alike laws
existing in both North and South in colonial days applied also to white indentured servants and
to Native American slaves. Many Northern states also passed personal liberty laws that allowed
fugitives a jury trial, and others passed laws forbidding state officials to help capture alleged
fugitive slaves or to lodge them in state jails. As a concession to the South a second and more
rigorous fugitive slave law was passed as part of the Compromise of 1850. Fugitive slave laws,
in U.S. history, the federal acts of 1793 and 1850 provided for the return between states of
escaped black slaves. Similar laws existing in both North and South in colonial days applied also
to white indentured servants and to Native American slaves. As slavery was abolished in the
Northern states, the 1793 law was loosely enforced, to the great irritation of the South, and as
abolitionist sentiment developed, organized efforts to get around the law took form in the
Underground Railroad. Many Northern states also passed personal liberty laws that allowed
fugitives a jury trial, and others passed laws forbidding state officials to help capture alleged

Descriptive Essay About Cats
I hated cats, I disliked the way they smell or always want to cuddle and how they like to dig their
sharp claws into your leather chairs. Everybody has their Monday rituals, sometimes it s coffee or
jogging through the park, but mine is a little out of the ordinary. Each day, my ritual begins at six in
the morning with me walking my ten cats down Canal Street to Pet Central to buy catfood. I used to
despise cats until I became their caretaker after a tragedy. This is my story about how I became the
man on Canal Street with 10 felines.
I remember going over to my Mom s apartment on that cold and soggy day in the middle of Fall.
As I entered the house the foul smell of felines engulfed my nose and I began to sneeze all over
my Mother s furniture. I yelled to the top of my lungs I HATE CATS! to which she scolded me
and said At least they keep me company unlike you in a sarcastic voice. Then she went into the
kitchen to retrieve the roast she had been preparing all day. The smell of the golden roast helped
me forget the stench of her cats. As we ate she told me about her day and how she had bought a
new cat, to which I replied in a frustrated tone, You need to stop with all this cat stuff, I lost count
after 7 and it can t be healthy for your breathing with all this dandruff and cat hair floating in the
air I stammered. She bypassed my remark, then blurted out I invited you over because something
happened today at then doctor s office which puzzled me because usually I

Mount Holyoke College Commencement Speech Anna Quindlen s commencement speech at
Mount Holyoke College is an inspiring monologue about marching to the beat of your own

realizing all the times that they chose to be normal instead of taking their own path through life.
Quindlen uses everything in her power to appeal to everyone who could be listening giving
many examples and scenarios explaining different situations where individuality could have
occurred. Throughout the whole speech Quindlen talks about how being perfect is what we all
strive for, yet no matter how hard we try it can never be accomplished. Quindlen is very smart to
talk about such a hard topic for so many people to talk about and turn it into a very inspiring
speech about being yourself and straying from the social norm. In the beginning of the speech,
she described to us that, when she was younger, she did everything on her power to be perfect
including studying, doing well in school, being friendly, but not too friendly and sitting on a
housing council. Later on in the speech, she was elaborating on how she was able to break away
from what everyone else was doing and rise above everyone else because of this. She... Show more

Survivor s Guilt In The Vietnam War By Boo Kien
Survivor s guilt has played a substantial role throughout the story. Boa Ninh helps the reader to

people fighting for their rights, which were unjustly taken away or even the social emergence of

one fourth reported a prior suicidal attempt.
Research seems to supporting the theory that negative experiences resulting from LGBT stigma can

Similarities Between Massachusetts Bay And Virginia
Through the development of Virginia and Massachusetts Bay a few similarities can be noted,
however, the development of these two colonies were vastly different. First off we can notice the
similarities; both Virginia and Massachusetts Bay were founded by investors that funded colonists

and both of these colonies followed a government that consisted of counties with sheriffs and
governors. As far as economically successful colonies go, MassachusettsBay proved to be the more
successful of the two. Virginiahad a more appropriate climate for the production and growth of a

Osteoarthritis Site Analysis
Analysis of osteoarthritis for each site was conducted in order to determine whether any of the
joint changes in the skeletal remains might indicate changes in physical activity levels before and
after colonization. To better ascertain the differences in the colonial eras, the prehistoric burials
from Corinth and Apollonia were separated from the colonial periods. Even though every site has
individuals of indeterminate sex only a comparison between those individuals for whom sex could
be reasonably estimated was done.
It is instructive to examine the occurrence of osteoarthritis on both the right and left sides of the
body. My initial assessment showed that there are no appreciable differences by side of any given
joint; therefore, only the left side is used for analysis (Table 4). Osteoarthritis of the vertebrae
obviously does not have a side, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) arthritis is simply counted as a
single joint. Examination of Table 4 indicates that there is a relatively high prevalence of
osteoarthritis in three particular joints; the hip, thoracic vertebrae, ... Show more content on

Apollonia, Epidamnus, Corinth, and LofkГ«nd. Individuals in the Older adult category were

Music Synthesis Essay
The piece Touraman contains key structural principles associated with West African music despite
the different versions of Bembeya Jazz National and Lansana Diabate. The structural principles
include an ostinato pattern, improvisation, triple meter, ensemble stratification, and hocketing. In
the Bembeya version, the piece starts with a guitar flourish and then the test of the band comes
in. The bass is keeping the ostinato while the guitars interlock and at certain points improvise; the
trumpet improvises as well. This version also features some call and response, as the lead singer
sings a line and the backing vocals reply in unison. Diabate s version is in the traditional jeli style,

The traditional version is likely to be played at a patron s event or accompanying a traditional
ceremony, while the modern version is more of a social music played at dance halls/concerts. A
couple reasons for the difference are the instrumentation and sociopolitical context of each
version. Diabate uses traditional jeli instruments, which are non electric and specific to jelis,
while Bembeya uses amplified big band instrumentation. A traditional ceremony in a village is
not going to use electric guitars and bass, just as a large cosmopolitan dance hall is not going to
use balas and Koran recitation. The two places are using music as a means for different ends one
as a vessel for history and one as a stamp of modernity. This leads to the sociopolitical context;
jelis are born into their profession and have certain rules around their music, while bands like
Bembeya Jazz National were formed by the state (Guinea) to play music around the country during
post independence. While state bands included jeli musicians, the instrumentation was different and
the purpose behind the music was different as well. State bands were Sekou Toure s way to
improve morale and encourage modernity during the unstable time following independence. So,
Diabate s version is meant to be traditional, while Bembeya s version is meant to be

The Invention of Television
When you ask the question who invented television, you may get a few different answers!
Television was not invented by a single inventor, instead many people working together and alone
over the years, contributed to the evolution of television. * In Sorbonne, France1922, Edwin Belin,
an Englishman, who held the patent for the transmission of photographs by wire as well as fiber
optics and radar, demonstrated a mechanical scanning device that was an early precursor to modern
television. * John Logie ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I choose to write about the television invention because arguing that television is educational and
entertaining has been overused. The most important quality of television has been overlooked, the
ability to change a person s thinking strategy. To categorize everything on television into either
Good or Bad is wrong. To inspire hope into the viewer is a gift. The ability to help others visualize
a positive concept or idea is a blessing.
I believes that the entertainment television has a big and clear effect on real world health by the
various programs which offers a wide range of knowledge and information in this sector, for
example Dr. Oz Show, and its impact on viewers perceptions of issues such as the quality of
managed care, the rights of patients under current law, whether insurance companies are providing
sufficient coverage, and end of life decisions. Related work suggests, too, that TV viewers may well
mix what they see on news and entertainment together
In conclusion, the television is a great technological achievement that has the characteristics of a
person, some shows are funny, powerful and inspiring; others are just not worth watching. Although
television has a bad reputation, it really is a wonderful tool, bringing into our living room a whole
other world.

Language and Identity Are Inextricably Linked. How Is This...
There are many indicators of identity by which we are made known individually, socially and
culturally; the best of these would be language and how it has shown great flexibility in
accommodating the needs of people. Through language people have been able to establish their
identities and cultivate friendships with others who share the same common ground. By looking at
accents such as Broad Australian English, slang and phonological features as they apply to
Australian varieties, we can see how it has forged solidarity and assisted in creating an identity on
an individual and national scale.
Broad Australian English (BAE) is a language variety unique to Australia. Despite being spoken by
a minority of Australian population today, it has... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Identity is formed through the mutual trends of a group through slang and is used as
identification for users who have these lexical features in common. The shortening of the
lexeme whatever to whatevz or the reduplication and shortening of crazy to cray cray are words
that have appealed to young Australian teenagers. Through use of diminutives, identity can be
further formed as they are uniquely Australian, where lexemes are shortened to a syllable and
the suffix of ie, y or o is added like smoko for smoking, devo for devastated and bottle o for a
liquor store. The use of slang like this enhances our identity and care free nature that helps us
understand phrases like I m devo that brekky at Maccas is done . This way slang builds certain
characteristics that are known to Australians in the same way phonological features have.
A recent phonological development in Australian English displays a difference between younger
and older generations through the High Rising Terminal (HRT) which is a rising intonation
contour on declarative clauses. The intonation pattern is considered a distinctive feature of
Australian English and shows how speakers carry themselves as a person. HRT is used primarily
by the younger demographics in Australia, in particular female speakers and has been criticised
often, deeming it as a marker of insecurity. However as researchers now point out,

And maybe because of the economic situation : during crisis, people may be more depressed and
may want what we may call simple pleasure such as spending time with their family eating
candies... However, raw material such as cooking oil, eggs, etc increased since 2011 and this
may affect the sales. For example, cooking oil price has increased of 33% and the price of eggs
of 36%. Social factors For a lot of people, candies are still associated with a reward or a
punishment if you prevent your kids from eating some. Thus, candies are a symbol of childhood,
happiness, friendships, and a way to enjoy events (birthdays, weddings...). However, candies are
still associated with obesity (see below). Technological factors There are lots of innovations:
colors, flavors, shapes, packaging... Those are needed to face the competition but for this R D is
needed and it costs a lot of money to the companies. Environmental Nowadays, being an
ecofriendly firm starts to be more and more important. In fact, according to a survey made by

Drug Abuse in the United States Essay
Drug Abuse in the United States of America
In the United States of America, we, the people value several things, some of which are freedom,
expanding and taking care of our families and our financial security.
We, the people, take such things for granted. We also discourage some behavior, such as crime,
laziness and use of illegal drugs. Drug abuse is one of the most discouraged behaviors in our
country. Use of illegal drugs is harmful to the userand all those with whom the user comes in

Marijuana is a popular, and illegal, drug. Its largest consumers are young adults.
Marijuana is smoked in a pipe or rolled in a cigarette. Thirty seven percent of people between ages
12 17 have tried marijuana.3
Marijuana gives a slight buzzing feeling of light headedness. Experimentation with marijuana is
dangerous because studies show that 60% of people who smoke marijuana on a regular basis move
on to try harder drugs soon after.4 Marijuana tends to diminish the ambition and motivation in the
user. In the long run, it may cause lung cancer and other respiratory problems.
Cocaine is another popular, illegal, street drug. Cocaine is snorted or smoked as crack (a cheaper
and, as a result of being so affordable, more addictive way). Cocaine gives the user a sense of well
being and extra energy. Cocaine is one of the most dangerous drugs. In 1995, over 500,000
emergency room accidents were cocaine related.5
Cocaine is one of the worst drugs because it causes respiratory illness and kills mucus
membranes. Heroin is the most addictive dangerous illegal drug on the streets. You ll become a so
called junkie if you use it. It affects the hygiene and personal appearance of the user a great deal,
because nothing is as important to the user anymore as where that next hit will come from. Heroin

The Great Depression Fashion
During the 1930 s when the Great Depression took place, fewer people were sewing to make their
own clothing and it started to switch to clothes ready to wear when bought. Because of the stock
market crash, the clothing manufacturers had to look for ways to conserve money and still put out
product. They started going to cheaper materials to create clothingand cheaper ways to make the
clothing. Though not everyone was able to buy clothes and would just reuse material they had
at home. There were many hand me down clothing for the children and people would sew their
old shirts to make underwear. Farmers would use their big sacks of flour or the sacks of
livestock food to re create them into dresses for the girls. People during the depression were
either making their own clothes from old materials or if they had enough money the could go out
and buy new clothes but were made from cheaper material. The poor people during the depression
wore very simple clothes that were often their old clothes before the depression. If there was a
problem with their clothes, they would patch up their clothing with old socks or any material they
could get their hands on. Even though there was not a huge market for new clothing, there were
still fashiondesigns that were popular for those who can afford it. 1There were still fashion
magazines being put out for women during the depression and that s how people got their
information on the latest fashions. The clothing for women was simple and

The Normative View Of Christianity
Christianity is a widespread religion that reaches many different cultures and places all around the
world. Since it is such a widespread religion there are many types of interpretations that can be
developed based off the words and teachings of the Bible. Most commonly we have the normative
view of Christianity. The normative view can most basically be understood as the highly shared
teachings of churches. Another type of interpretation that encompasses all beliefs that are not
compliant with the normative view is called esoteric. Here we will compare the interpretations of
Daskalos, the Great Teacher of Cypress, and his Researchers of Truth against the normative view
of Christianity as understood by both Catholics and Protestants. In order to further investigate the
differences between Daskalos esoteric beliefs and normative beliefs we must understand fully
what esoteric and normative truly mean. A few beliefs of normative Christianity, as explained by
Moreman, are as follows: the belief in judgement after death. There are only 2 places to go, hellor
heavenand that may or may not be after a slight stop in purgatory, the intermediate state of being
right after death where souls await resurrection (Moreman, 62). When the resurrection happens,
people will be resurrected in their physical bodies, thanks to interpretations by St. Augustine of
Hippo (Moreman, 62). Those souls or people that are evil will spend eternity in hell in fiery
damnation (Moreman, 63). The beliefs of

Why Did Wood Construction Play A Role In Greek Architecture
For my junior research project, I want to focus on architectural structures and architects in Greece.
I will be researching about the process which the architects got their influences, the process of how
Greek architecture evolved over time. Greek architecture began evolving in the 7th 6th century
BCE and their use of materials began with mud brick and timber, stone, limestone, wood, etc...until
reaching marble which was used by Ionic architects in the 6th century. The architects focused on
specific details of the buildings in addition to a focus on temples and were influenced by others,
Egypt for example, not only in buildings but also figures. Democracy and events/ the society s
culture can also be seen as an influential component to Greek architecture. As I continue to research
more about the Greek architects and architectural sites, my research questions are: Who and what
event(s) influenced its creation of buildings?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

one specific building) help showcase the influences others had on its architecture and/or how it,
itself, influenced others? How does wood construction play a role in Greek architecture evolution?
/How did wood construction lead to the use of different materials? What was the psychology of the
architect at the time and how did that affect the building? How does psychology tie in with Greek
architecture? What does it mean for the artist, the viewer, and the people (citizens)? Why/how did
characteristics of Democracy show up in Greek Architecture? What is the comparison between

Atoms for Peace Analysis Essay
Dwight D Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States from 1953 1960, is revered as a
statesman and great military leader. Born in Texas in 1890 and raised in Kansas to a family that
valued education, Eisenhower began a long career as a leader and military officer upon his
graduation in 1915 from West Point. Eisenhower is recognized for his leadership and oratorical
skills which he applied to both military endeavors and managing the nation. He was fortunate to be
mentored by General Fox Conner, in the Panama Canal Zone. Conner encouraged him to study
important works of history, military science, and philosophy which Eisenhower applied to his own
efforts and experiences. Eisenhower later moved up the military ranks to five star... Show more

The audience s biases and beliefs both impeded and helped Eisenhower s proposal. Eisenhower s
diction was appropriate for his audience; though he used some jargon, the members were able to
understand because of their level of knowledge. His appeals, mostly to pathos and ethos, were
effective. He established ethos by addressing the meeting with France and Great Britain, and
through his position as President. Eisenhower s use of rhetoric allowed his audience to be receptive
to his argument. In Eisenhower s introduction he does not construct the reality and frame the
question effectively. He does not make his purpose clear in his introduction either. Even though in
the first paragraph Dwight mentions that his speech will be about the issues of society today, he
does not mention those issues much farther in the text. The structure of his arguments contribute to
his persuasion. Eisenhower would begin by telling the audience what the issues at hand are, then
would say his solution to each problem. For example, around the 21st paragraph, Eisenhower uses
a first, second and finally method. In those, he states some issues such as, the knowledge now
possessed by several nations will eventually be shared by others possibly all others. Then Dwight
goes to suggest the solution or solutions to the previously stated problems. Also, throughout the
piece, he

Juxtaposition In Devil In The White City
The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson is a nonfiction novel that sets during the building of
the 1893 Chicago World s Fair, known as The World s Columbian Exposition as well. The novel
describes the process of building the fair and the architect who builds it to the evil murderer who
exploits the fair to lure in his victims. Erik Larson uses rhetorical strategies such as selective
connotationand word choice, imagery, and juxtaposition, to contrast the white cityfrom the black
city. Contrary to the white city which was the exposition, the black city, the rest of Chicago, brought
negativity and hatred to the people.
In it was a blighted, hellish place full of noise and dust and smoke and inhuman towers that blocked
the sun and she hated it hated especially this gloomy building and the ceaseless clamor of
construction (Larson 123), the black city is described through selective connotation and word
choice. Larson creating an unpleasant mood by using such negative and degrading words such as
blighted, hellish, and inhuman to describe Chicago, readers can envision a hateful and dull place.
By placing and in front of the negative words: blighted, hellish, and inhuman and repeating and
multiple times, the list of unappealing attributes of the city is elongated. Essentially, Chicago is
envisioned in a worse way than if the negative adjectives were just listed one after another without
the effect that and carries, emphasizing the hatred the character held towards

Long Duration Human Space Flight Missions
Introduction: Long duration human space flight missions are next big thing in space that have
capture our imagination for years. Highly sustainable habitats are necessary to support long
duration human space flight missions as it impractical to re supply logistics (Shaw and Weck,
2014). At the time when national space policies have given top priority to human space flight
missions, study of closed loop habitats are essential. Thus, it is essential to review development in
this area and discuss various issues related to political, technical, engineering, economic aspects of
closed loop life support systems. Politics and Engineering: A closed loop life support system is

Most of the life support systems for isolated environment use physiological process. The use of bio
regenerative process is relatively new. Bio regenerative process currently in use in terrestrial
confined environment include controlled plant growth chamber in Antarctica and biosphere 2.
Plant growth has been tested in ISS but only for scientific study and not as a part of life support
system. For the future manned space mission, hybrid life support systems in which biological
components are used at the same time with physiochemical technology in a balanced mechanism
for controlling life support parameters. Hybrid life support systems are envisioned for sustainable
long term space habitats but there are concerns about the reliability of bio regenerative process
incorporated to the physiochemical systems. The optimal combination of physiochemical and bio
generative life support systems needs tradeoff among different factors. Numerous bio regenerative
technology should be tested and performance should be evaluated to characterize it. A common
study could be about food subsystem and computation of equivalent system mass. NASA have
given top priority to the long duration manned space flight missions. Asteroid retrieval mission and
manned mars mission have become long term set goals. This has motivated systematic examination
and engineering of sustainable closed loop life support systems. NASA has developed road maps

Advantages Of Autonomous Vehicles
Autonomous vehicles (AVs), commonly referred to as self driving cars, are touted as the future of
our highways because of the many benefits of which they boast. AV s are touted to reduce
emissions, provide a means of mobility for people who are unable to drive themselves and ensure
safer roads by reduction/elimination of collisions.
Autonomous Vehicles comprise of three main hardware components: sensors, processor and
actuators. Images and information is gathered from the environment through sensors, the
information travels through the processor (an onboard computer) and the processor effectively tells
the car what to do via the actuators tools that allow the computer to control physical components
like brakes or steering wheels.
Autonomous Vehicles collect a lot of data via their sensors at every point in time. The data
collected is estimated to be approximately 1Gbps and this can amount to about petabytes in a year.
Not all the information collected is stored; most of the data is simply used for active driving and
not detail analysis. The processor on board of the Autonomous Vehicledetermines, through smart

seeking the truth, and I feared that it might eventually stop my progress. But I m proof that you
don t have to know a guru to achieve enlightenment. You don t even have to meditate! All you have
to do is consciously dissect yourself, and your world, without colouring what you see. Then each
time you find the truth of an object or subject, you simply release the false impression and allow
the truth of what you have found to fill its place. Then one by one, truth by truth, the complete

  • 2. An Analysis Of Okonkwo s Things Fall Apart In Things Fall Apart the novel, Okonkwo was determined to be nothing like his father Unoka, this strict adherence to masculine standards, (which causes the destruction of his family, creates dissent in his tribe, and leads him to his death) supports the value of the feminine in Igbo culture. Though it may seem that women are seen as the weaker sex in Ibgo society, (E., Skwiot personal comment, August 23, 2016) The novel is set at the end of the twentieth century. It describes in detail about life in an African culture very different from Western culture. Okonkwo brought honor to his village by wrestling and putting down Amalinze the Cat, a man that was undefeated for his wrestling throughout all nine villages of Umuofia. He was quick tempered, he did not like dealing with unproductive men like his father, who died very much in debt (Achebe, 1994). However, because of Unoka s laziness and carelessness, the village had thought of him as a failure and a fool; he was a constant reminder to Okonkwo of how lazy he was. Although, Unoka had a family to support, he was constantly borrowing money and them wasting it on Palm wine and celebrating with his neighbors, while his family, done without food to eat. Unoka thought nothing of his responsibilities, his priority was living his life to the fullest. He played the flute very well, he was happy and serene while playing his flute, his music had sounds of grief and sorrows (CliffsNotes, 2016). Unoka never took a title because of ... • 3. Descriptive Magic World Disney World the most magical place on earth, they say. It happens to be the worst experience of a six year old life. Let s begin with a little background information of the six year old. I was scared of everything that moved inside or outside or in the dark. Major fears dinosaurs, ghosts, bugs. My tale begins with this wonderful adventure of the Magical World of Disney. We arrived; it was beautiful the grounds were a lush green and so amazing looking. Then suddenly out of the corner of my eye, I saw it coming straight for me. He was flat on the ground just sliding forward his mouth was opening wide it was getting closer. I could see each tooth super sharp, I m too afraid to move all of a sudden I hear a snap. I literally jumped out of my skin. Then I saw it the tail of a squirrel hang out of his mouth. I guess better him than me. It hits me the happiest place on earth; I wonder how that could be. Here comes the family they are super excited we are getting on a boat and traveling to the Animal Kingdom Park. The Animal Kingdom where the wild animals roam free, that last animal was already roaming free, just the place I want to be. When we first arrived in the park I saw it was amazingly huge and tons of green. In Animal Kingdom you can see all types of exotic animals. Such as Komodo Dragons, Parrots, Eagles, Elephants the type of stuff and you were able to feed it was such a nice place, till the unthinkable happened. The main purpose of the economic system is method used to produce and distribute goods and service. The three economic questions are: What goods should be produced? How should these goods and services be produced And Who consumes these goods and services? The characteristic of a market economicsis that self interest is the motivating force in the free market, self regulating market. Firms buy productive resources in return for making factor payments at factor prices. Product market is a mechanism that allows people to easily buy and sell products. The interaction between product and factor markets involves the principle of derived demand. Derived demand refers to the demand for productive resources, which is derived from the demand for final goods and services or output. Firms obtain the inputs or factors of production in the factors markets. The goods are sold in the products markets. In most respects these markets are the same. Price is determined by the interaction of supply and demand, firm s attempt to maximize profits, factors can influence and change the equilibrium price and quantities bought and sold and the laws of supply and demand hold. Consumers (households), in pursuit of their self interest, have the incentive to look for lower prices. An incentive is the hope of reward or fear of punishment that encourages a person to behave in a certain way. Free market offer a wider variety of goods and services, and consumers in essence decide what gets produced which is called consumer sovereignty. • 5. Movie Do The Right Thing Actor and director Spike Lee portrays his truth about racial relations in his well known movie Do the Right Thing. The film takes place in 1989 exhibiting the issues of black discrimination and racial altercations. Serious and frustrated, Lee stays true to the ethnicity of his characters, reflecting their own individualism. The main character in the film, Mookie, sets the temperature extremely high towards the end portion of the movie when he does an unexpected action. One of the many questions at the end of the film is whether Mookie does the right thing when he chucks the garbage can through the window, yelling the word hate , thus provoking the riot that destroys Sal s pizzeria. I see Mookie s action as an appropriate wise decision because he directs a less personal attack towards Sal by targeting Sals building, to channel the anger that was spreading throughout the community over Raheem s murder, and lastly Mookie was standing up for his community. Mookie was a courageous young man for his unexpected act. Mookie (Spike Lee) is a young hardworking teenager living in a black and Puerto Rican neighborhood. He lives with his sister Jade and girlfriend Tina. Trying to support his girlfriend and their newborn baby, he works vigorously as a sole black employee of pizza deliveryman for a local white owned pizzeria down their neighborhood. • 6. The Competitive Landscape Of The Quick Service Restaurant The Competitive Landscape Companies in the Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) industry compete mainly on efficient operations and effective marketing. Usually, large companies enjoy advantages over small companies in terms of purchasing, finance, and marketing. But small companies can still compete by improving their products and services. The US is the global QSR market leader, taking 20% of global industry revenues (Hoovers). According to Porter, an industry has to have sustainable profits for firms to foresee in order to make firms profitable and successful (Porter, 3). However, according to our research the QSR industry is in danger of reaching unsustainable profit margins if industry leaders fail to adapt their business practices to this volatile market. The dining culture has changed over the years as people have become more aware of healthy eating lifestyle. This trend is expected to continuously dictate future market demand. Another factor to determine a company s success mentioned by Porter s is industry positioning (Porter, 1985). The position in the industry is crucial for companies who have empathies for their customers health. Many of them are not dominant firms in QSR industry and some of them are emerging in the industry. They need to find the exquisite balance in terms of market positioning to incept their success. Processes are often called tasks in embedded operating systems. The function of the task or process is something that takes up time, as opposed to memory, which is something that takes up space or capacity For security and reliability reasons most modern operating systems prevent direct communication between independent processes, providing strictly mediated and controlled inter process communication functionality.... • 9. The Gospel According To Matthew Research Paper The Gospel According to Matthew was written at a time of uncomfortable tensions. People had pride for their Jewishness but hated the Jewish establishments. They believed that the way to heaven was not with Jewish institutions but rather with the people and an allegiance to Jesus. The Gospel According to Matthew was almost an attempt to respond to the crises posed by the destruction of the temple. The community the Gospel of Matthew was for was a community which is both faithful to its scriptural heritage and open to the new directions demanded by Jesus proclamation of the kingdom of heaven, and therefore necessarily expanding beyond the bounds of the Jewish people. Though it couldn t have been written in Jerusalem since it was written after the Jewish war which means there were very little, to no, Jews there and the city was destroyed for the most part. If it was written somewhere else in Palestine it would have not been written in Greek, but rather Aramaic which was the language of Palestine at that time. Since it was written in Greek it is highly unlikely that Matthew was written anywhere in Palestine. The next possibility for the location of Matthew s authorship is Caesarea Maritima, which would make sense since there is a lot of conflict in Matthew with the Pharisees and formative Judaism. Those who lived near Palestine felt this conflict and since Caesarea Maritima is near there this conflict would make sense for a Gospel written in such a location. Though it is highly unlikely that the Gospel was written there since the population was mostly gentile. This is because during the Jewish war most Jews that lived in Caesarea Maritima were either killed or left because they felt threatened. The next possibility as to where the Gospel was written is somewhere in Syria, outside of Antioch, since this is one of the last remaining options that make sense. More specifically scholars think that it may have been written in northeastern Syria since there is a connection between the M material found in Matthew and certain eastern religious traditions in Mithraism, Zoroastrianism, and Buddhism. However the problem with this hypothesis is the language in this area is Syriac, not Greek. Since Matthew was written in Greek it is highly unlikely it was written in Syria outside of Antioch. This leads to the best option as to where Matthew was written, Antioch on the Orontes. The strongest argument for this location is since the author is not certain, in order for Matthew to have become so popular and later be accepted as Apostolic the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Napoleon realizes this truth and takes full advantage of it early on in the story. In George Orwell s allegorical novel Animal Farm, Napoleon seizes control of the now independent farm. He allows the pigs to be educated and excludes the others. However, he personally educates some puppies, foreseeing them as a powerful weapon to gain full authority over the animalsand to reduce distrust that could lead to revolt. Fortunately for him, he already wields the power of education, enabling him to rise almost effortlessly to power; With their superior knowledge it was natural that they should assume leadership (pg. 21). This is a subtle infraction of the principles clearly stated in the commandments of Animalism. Equality is supposed to apply to everyone and every situation, but the animals are accustomed to having a leader, therefore, it is second nature for them to rely on a person higher than them. Sadly for the majority of the naГЇve animals, the pigs ascend to power simply because the weapon of education is pointing at them and they are found weaponless and unable to defend themselves. Animalism is turned into an oligarchy, rule by the elite, in this case the pigs are the elite because they are more educated than the animals. Napoleon not only wants power over the lowly farm animals, but he seeks absolute control over the entire farm, including the remaining pigs. To do this, he again takes advantage of the power that lies in education; He said that the education of the young was more important than anything that could be done for those who were already grown up (pg. 26). The preface to Owens poetry read: This book is not about heroes. English poetry is not yet fit to speak of them. Nor is it about deeds, or lands, nor anything about glory, honour, might, majesty, dominion, or power, except war. Above all I am not concerned with Poetry. My subject is war, and the pity of war. Let s take a look at the poem mental cases for a few examples of figurative language. Metaphor, misery swelters surely we have perished. Simile, bearing teeth that leer like skulls teeth wicked? And also the poem disabled where we see an example of personification in the line that speaks of how the town used to swing so gay. Symbolism when it tells of the disabled man wearing his ghastly suit of gray, the gray symbolises the dullness and shadows that now hang over him. We often see the use of oxymoron s and paradox when something is being contrasted within a poem such as a line from the poem dulce et decorum est, gas! GAS! Quick boys! An ecstasy of fumbling which is used to describe the controlled panic which quickly increases as the men fumble to put on thier gas masks. A good example of a paradox also from this poem is the line that Owen writes the devil, sick of sick this is a paradox because the devil is a personification of sin, this is just another way he portrays how horrific war is. • 16. Writing In The Age Of Distraction Cory Doctorow Summary The article Writing in the Age of Distraction by Cory Doctorow is an article talking about how the Internet is often misconceived as a place where procrastination comes alive. In said article, Doctorow makes a detailed list on how he manages to avoid procrastination and get work done, while still using the Internet. The first step he lists is setting a goal for yourself and sticking with it. Choose a number of words or number of pages you want to type for that day and aim for it. Do not stop before you reach that goal. Similarly, Doctorow says, once you do reach that goal, stop for the day. Stop in the middle of your sentence even, so that the next time you sit down to work, you know where to start from. In his exact words, Doctorow states: When you hit your daily word goal, stop. Stop even if you re in the middle of a sentence. Especially if you re in the middle of a sentence. That way, when you sit down at the keyboard the next day, your first five or ten words are already ordained, so that you get a little push before you begin your work. (Doctorow) He then says that when you are actually sitting down to work, you need to stop researching. One of the easiest ways to get sidetracked while working is by getting distracted by information that isn t important for your assignment, but seem relevant at the time. Set aside specific time for research so you don t end up procrastinating when you should be working. Another tip Doctorow gives is to remember not to get distracted using your word processor. Doing things like playing with the font or debating over which color your words should be in will only kill valuable time. Turning off your cell phone and ignoring social media notifications is also a great way of making sure you don t end up wasting your own time. I choose to write about Doctorow s article because I often find myself getting distracted both before and during the process of writing a paper. Much like Doctorow, I d been instructed by several high school teachers to stay away from the Internet while writing so I didn t divert my attention away from the assignment I was supposed to be working on. During the first three years of high school, I followed this advice almost religiously, and even went so far ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Everybody has their Monday rituals, sometimes it s coffee or jogging through the park, but mine is a little out of the ordinary. Each day, my ritual begins at six in the morning with me walking my ten cats down Canal Street to Pet Central to buy catfood. I used to despise cats until I became their caretaker after a tragedy. This is my story about how I became the man on Canal Street with 10 felines. I remember going over to my Mom s apartment on that cold and soggy day in the middle of Fall. As I entered the house the foul smell of felines engulfed my nose and I began to sneeze all over my Mother s furniture. I yelled to the top of my lungs I HATE CATS! to which she scolded me and said At least they keep me company unlike you in a sarcastic voice. Then she went into the kitchen to retrieve the roast she had been preparing all day. The smell of the golden roast helped me forget the stench of her cats. As we ate she told me about her day and how she had bought a new cat, to which I replied in a frustrated tone, You need to stop with all this cat stuff, I lost count after 7 and it can t be healthy for your breathing with all this dandruff and cat hair floating in the air I stammered. Even though every site has individuals of indeterminate sex only a comparison between those individuals for whom sex could be reasonably estimated was done. The structural principles include an ostinato pattern, improvisation, triple meter, ensemble stratification, and hocketing. The bass is keeping the ostinato while the guitars interlock and at certain points improvise; the trumpet improvises as well. The traditional version is likely to be played at a patron s event or accompanying a traditional ceremony, while the modern version is more of a social music played at dance halls/concerts. A couple reasons for the difference are the instrumentation and sociopolitical context of each version. Diabate uses traditional jeli instruments, which are non electric and specific to jelis, while Bembeya uses amplified big band instrumentation. A traditional ceremony in a village is not going to use electric guitars and bass, just as a large cosmopolitan dance hall is not going to use balas and Koran recitation. The two places are using music as a means for different ends one as a vessel for history and one as a stamp of modernity. This leads to the sociopolitical context; jelis are born into their profession and have certain rules around their music, while bands like Bembeya Jazz National were formed by the state (Guinea) to play music around the country during post independence. While state bands included jeli musicians, the instrumentation was different and the purpose behind the music was different as well. To inspire hope into the viewer is a gift. The ability to help others visualize a positive concept or idea is a blessing. I believes that the entertainment television has a big and clear effect on real world health by the various programs which offers a wide range of knowledge and information in this sector, for example Dr. Oz Show, and its impact on viewers perceptions of issues such as the quality of managed care, the rights of patients under current law, whether insurance companies are providing sufficient coverage, and end of life decisions. Related work suggests, too, that TV viewers may well mix what they see on news and entertainment together In conclusion, the television is a great technological achievement that has the characteristics of a person, some shows are funny, powerful and inspiring; others are just not worth watching. Although television has a bad reputation, it really is a wonderful tool, bringing into our living room a whole other world. References * (2012, January 9). Report and research. • 42. Language and Identity Are Inextricably Linked. How Is This... There are many indicators of identity by which we are made known individually, socially and culturally; the best of these would be language and how it has shown great flexibility in accommodating the needs of people. Through language people have been able to establish their identities and cultivate friendships with others who share the same common ground. By looking at accents such as Broad Australian English, slang and phonological features as they apply to Australian varieties, we can see how it has forged solidarity and assisted in creating an identity on an individual and national scale. Identity is formed through the mutual trends of a group through slang and is used as identification for users who have these lexical features in common. The shortening of the lexeme whatever to whatevz or the reduplication and shortening of crazy to cray cray are words that have appealed to young Australian teenagers. Through use of diminutives, identity can be further formed as they are uniquely Australian, where lexemes are shortened to a syllable and the suffix of ie, y or o is added like smoko for smoking, devo for devastated and bottle o for a liquor store. The use of slang like this enhances our identity and care free nature that helps us understand phrases like I m devo that brekky at Maccas is done . This way slang builds certain characteristics that are known to Australians in the same way phonological features have. A recent phonological development in Australian English displays a difference between younger and older generations through the High Rising Terminal (HRT) which is a rising intonation contour on declarative clauses. The intonation pattern is considered a distinctive feature of Australian English and shows how speakers carry themselves as a person. HRT is used primarily by the younger demographics in Australia, in particular female speakers and has been criticised often, deeming it as a marker of insecurity. Since it is such a widespread religion there are many types of interpretations that can be developed based off the words and teachings of the Bible. Most commonly we have the normative view of Christianity. The normative view can most basically be understood as the highly shared teachings of churches. Another type of interpretation that encompasses all beliefs that are not compliant with the normative view is called esoteric. Here we will compare the interpretations of Daskalos, the Great Teacher of Cypress, and his Researchers of Truth against the normative view of Christianity as understood by both Catholics and Protestants. In order to further investigate the differences between Daskalos esoteric beliefs and normative beliefs we must understand fully what esoteric and normative truly mean. A few beliefs of normative Christianity, as explained by Moreman, are as follows: the belief in judgement after death. There are only 2 places to go, hellor heavenand that may or may not be after a slight stop in purgatory, the intermediate state of being right after death where souls await resurrection (Moreman, 62). When the resurrection happens, people will be resurrected in their physical bodies, thanks to interpretations by St. Augustine of Hippo (Moreman, 62). The novel describes the process of building the fair and the architect who builds it to the evil murderer who exploits the fair to lure in his victims. Erik Larson uses rhetorical strategies such as selective connotationand word choice, imagery, and juxtaposition, to contrast the white cityfrom the black city. Advantages Of Autonomous Vehicles Autonomous vehicles (AVs), commonly referred to as self driving cars, are touted as the future of our highways because of the many benefits of which they boast. AV s are touted to reduce emissions, provide a means of mobility for people who are unable to drive themselves and ensure safer roads by reduction/elimination of collisions. Autonomous Vehicles comprise of three main hardware components: sensors, processor and actuators. Images and information is gathered from the environment through sensors, the information travels through the processor (an onboard computer) and the processor effectively tells the car what to do via the actuators tools that allow the computer to control physical components like brakes or steering wheels. Autonomous Vehicles collect a lot of data via their sensors at every point in time. The data collected is estimated to be approximately 1Gbps and this can amount to about petabytes in a year.
