The Value Of Financial Ratio Analysis
When the economy expands, most industries and companies benefit and grow with it and the
reverse is true, that is why it is important for analysts or even individual investors to keep an eye on
the economy to determine when it is going to be beneficial for them to invest their money. The
economic environment indicators assist these investors in determining the state of the economy. In
this paper, I will describe the methods used to assess the macroeconomic environment, discuss the
value of financial ratioanalysis in the context of common stock investing and compare intrinsic
value and market price.

Employment indicators
The unemployment rate measures the rate at which the economy is operating at full capacity. It
also has its roots embedded in the great depression when the rate reached about 25% (rbcpa.com).
The unemployment rate is defined as the percentage of unemployed workers in the entire labor
force (Bodie, et al, 2011). When people are unemployed the economy loses their contribution in
terms of goods and services. The increase in the percentage of unemployed indicates the extent of
economic hardship faced by the nation, therefore it is important for policymakers to know the
number of unemployed workers in an economy in order to make better decisions in regards to the
growth of the economy.
Government fiscal and monetary policy
Fiscal policy is the ability of the federal government to increase and decrease its spending, if
government spending is zero, there will limited economic growth (Mitchell, 2005). Current
government borrowing shifts the burden to future generations to repay debt. An example of how
this policy has been used in the past to improve the economy is when the Federal Reserve
System lowered its discount rate and in early 2008 Congress passed the Economic Stimulus Act
of 2008 (govtrack.us). The legislation gave taxpayers a tax rebate in the form of a check up to
$600 for single filers, $1200 for married couples filing jointly (cnn.com). The hope was that
consumers would take these checks and spend them to help keep the economy moving

Michigan Stadium Research Paper
A Trip To Michigan Stadium After exiting on 175, you cross State and Main Street. Lurking off
in the distance is one of two large scoreboard screens with the block M and blue painted on it.
Downtown Ann Arbor was as busy as a bee. There is nothing like gameday in this city. Every
single place is filled with people all wearing the colors of maize and blue. Sidewalks in this city
are lined with every shop open selling anything with the block M on it. The smells of every kind
of barbeque you can imagine fill the air from everyone tailgating. Inside the stadium, is where
you can find the greatest time. Michigan stadium is a mecca for college football fans. But it s
not just the football fans that love this stadium. People from all over come to the stadium to have
the greatest hot dog ever assembled, The Wolverine Dog, . The smell of these hot dogs greets
every fan as they walk in. Imagine the greatest smelling food, now multiply that by one million

for miles. But the greatest feeling in the world that nothing else matches, is when the team funnels

Away With Murder
How to Get Away with Murder has a multitude of elements that come into play throughout the
series. The series follows a group of law students being mentored by Annalise Keating, a prominent
defense attorney. The group deal with multiple deaths, usually caused by them, by using anything
ranging from their knowledge of the law to hired hitmen to get their way. The repeated theme in
the series exposes the harsh reality of how the local government and the people within are corrupt.
A conscienceless society is a major concept that shapes each character s narcissistic frame of mind
where they will do anything to achieve their own personal goals. Even with all the murders and
deceit, in the end each character seems to accomplish part of their mission.... Show more content on

This episode really highlights the element s of how corrupt other can be due to how easily the
hospital staff was bribed to forge false medical documents. This just goes to show corruption can
transcend the real of law and move into other aspects, such as medicine. The students show how
much they have become desensitized by being unsympathetic toward the shooting they were
involved in. They even go as far as plotting to kill the victim after finding out he is still alive. The
students only show concern for themselves and the people within their group. Oliver Hampton is
the only character to openly express sympathy for the victims. He seems to be a personified
version of the other characters conscience. Early in the series he is not as prevalent because the
students have not been introduced to their life of lies, but as the series goes on and the students
begin to lose emotion toward their actions, he comes more of a constant figure to add more
empathy. Oliver s constant reminder of how the group s actions have affected others is what keeps
them from basically becoming

The Journey From Darkness To Light In Mccarthy s The Road
McCarthy s novel and Hillcoat s film adaptation of The Road portray a father and son s arduous
journey for survival, through key scenes, themes and flashbacks.
The father and son in The Road go from darkness to light in their journey from a desolate
unspecified location to a better and more inviting place and future. From the very beginning
McCarthy creates a strong image by repeating nothing and ash , words that suggest darkness,
introducing to the reader a world where people and places names are nameless and the darkness is
a state of being. The motif of light appears at the end of the novel, suggesting a possible shade of
faith. The author describes this in the scene of the boy watching over his dying father a fading
light, the light of a candle . However, Hillcoat s film adaptation does not capture the vast, crushed
emptiness of the world envisioned by McCarthy. The film contains hope, demonstrated by the
brighter lighting and continuous flashbacks portraying bright colours of nature. The film adaption
also features live animals such as birds which symbolise hope. In the novel, McCarthy shows
hope by describing fish swimming in the stream, whereas Hillcoat portrayed hope by showing a
live beetle fly from an open can. Though they both show signs of hope and life, one was presented
while the father was still alive and the other after his death.
The man demonstrates consistently that he is prepared to take whatever action necessary, even if
violent, to ensure his

Persuasive Speech About Breakfast
Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Who here didn t have their breakfast this morning? I bet
most of you did. I used to be one of those too until last month when I did a research on Biology
and by chance, came across a fact about how important breakfast is. I believe that as soon as you
heard the topic, you will assume that I am going to give you a life lesson as your parents do.
Breakfast is the most essential mealis spoken by every mother, yet the reasons why we should eat
breakfast have never been clarified more clearly and seriously. The following speech will highlight
that breakfast is required for three main reasons; first, it helps improve our grades; second, it
controls our balance diet; and more importantly; it can promote... Show more content on

To correct all misunderstandings, breakfast indeed helps us control healthy diets and even lose
weight. How? Technically, skipping breakfast means your sugar level in blood drops even lower
than the required standard. As a result, it will trigger your hunger and you will have less energy,
which means that by lunch time you would be starving to death, and feel like you can eat a
whole cow. As a consequence, you would end up overeating. What s about if we just ensure that
we do not over consume for the rest of the day? Admittedly, for that case, you might lose some
weight, but according to www. prevention.com, a reward of longterm skipping breakfast is to
gain dangerous belly fat in return. For girls, it is believed that not having a regular eating habit
can critically contribute to a risk of menstrual cycle irregularity. In order not to be like this, you
should eat breakfast regularly to make your body feel nourished and

In the article, Acute lung injury and acute respiratory distress syndrome: Two challenging

Acute lung injury and acute respiratory distress (ARDS) is a secondary illness resulting from a
primary disease that has been largely ignored by the veterinary community, but initial early
recognition of the disease is paramount to providing a full recovery. This compounding disorder
primarily affects the lungs and its associated passages and membranes in the respiratory system
which becomes deadlier as it progresses. The three phases of this disease are the exudative phase,
the proliferative phase, and the fibrotic phase. In order to suspect this

The Essential Role Of Bureaucracy Necessary In American...
A bureaucracy is not only needed in American democracy, furthermore, it plays an essential role to
keep it running smoothly. Some American citizens disagree that bureaucracies are beneficial for
our democracy because they do not get to vote in the officials or bureaucrats. However, if they
would be elected officials then the nominees running would campaign for fame or to be the next
bureaucrat. This would create disloyalty among the nominees. One of the responsibilities of
governmentbureaucrats is to implement the law given by Congress. If bureaucracydid not exist this
responsibility would be delegated to congress, and the checks and balance system would not be as
influential pertaining to laws. The Federal Bureaucracy provides the American people with the
fifteen executive departments. These departments are incredibly important and they address and
regulate the protection, health, education, transportation, etc, of the citizens of America. American
democracy depends on and benefits greatly on the organized bureaucracies in government.

Technology In Modern Society
Did you know that the average person in this day and age spends nearly 3.9 years of their entire
life using some sort of electronical device? In today s modernized society, we are greatly
influenced by the uses of what technology has to offer. Not only does it play a key role in most
of our lives, but it has revolutionized the way we actually live. Simply look around you and the
chances are you will be faced with a wide array of different electronic technologies that have taken
over the way we live. The use of modernized technologyis something rather new, but it is here to
stay for years to come. This being said, in today s society, we are simply not mentally capable of
understanding the true evils of what the use of technology has in storage for us.
Technology has drastically changed throughout the years. From beginning with simple tools, to
the current creation of mega powered modernized computers capable of endless possibilities and
the list goes on. Whether or not one believes in all this technology is hard to say. But one thing
is certain, technology has and will continue to control our lives for hundreds upon hundreds of
years to come unless we can make a change. But the odds are,we will never change. The problem
with technology is that it makes life so much easier. From contacting someone across the world in
a matter of minutes with a couple clicks to controlling the minds and privileges of nearly half of
the world s population by simply making it rather easy to

The Themes And Government Of 1984 By George Orwell
The topics and themes of which an author chooses to write reveals a lot about their unique
perspective of the world. One may be able to read a novel and understand the surface level
descriptions of the plot and characters, but it takes a true critical thinker to analyze the symbolism
the author may have intended. Many books reflect this, from Lord of the Flies to Moby Dick, and
then to George Orwells 1984. The underlying cynicism of Winston Smith s actual name, The
Party, and eventually Winston s love of Big Brother, speaks a greater truth than a first glance
may reveal. Orwell used this novel as an outlet to speak out about the events around him, thus
creating a phenomenon that has stood the test of time for decades. The themes and government
of 1984 by George Orwell were influenced by Orwell s personal situation and upbringing,
historical events of the 1940s, and reflect the worldwide governments of 2017. While 1984 may
send the reader into many different trains of thought as the story progresses, it is very beneficial
to track the controversial novel down to the source: Eric Arthur Blair. He was born into a poor
household without much of a father figure, and led a mediocre educational career. He often
resisted authority and ended up joining the Indian Imperial Police without a college education.
Blair was described as very rebellious and served for five years before moving to the city and
immersing himself in his writing, thus adopting the penname, George Orwell.

Formal And Formal Events
Programs are little square sheets of paper that are used to list the time of events at mostly formal
and sometimes informal events. They sometimes can be boring have no color and just printed out
in black and white. And at other times they can be filled with color and bring life to the readers.
Many times at graduations or dance shows any outgoing event they could be printed out in maybe
the theme color of the event or just a designated color with italicized words. Another type of
programisn t used to show time of events they can be used to tell an order in which things should

where the specific event takes place. At the top, it has the date printed in a bolder and larger text

The Legal And Political Systems
Introduction It is noteworthy that the legal and political systems are fundamentally different in
the first place due to the diverse perspectives of the world, and they have developed into two
separate entities with their own purposes and model in the society. Therefore, it is unlikely that
they share common philosophy and practices. However, like most other disciplines in the society,
sometimes law and politics overlap to achieve a common goal, sometimes they complement each
other and at other times, they contradict each other. For example, the differentiation of
adversaries has no ground in the law and politics dominates over the rule of law when this occurs.
Therefore, the goals, philosophy and practices in both systems do not entirely agree, hence
reasoning in both systems must be different also. Tradition view The conventional view can be
described as that political reasoning features consideration to political parties, social movements,
public media, the legislature and the government, and politicians create their own normative
ideology that defines and guides the behaviour of the society. James defines legal reasoning as an
approach employed by legal officials to identify and apply legal rules to circumstances in order to
solve legal cases, and that there are unique characteristics of legal reasoning which set it apart to
other forms of reasoning, such characteristics include laws and precedents. The key in legal
reasoning, according to Sunstein, is that legal

B: KENYAN CONTEXT
HISTORY AND DEVELOPMENT OF COMMERCIAL BANKS IN KENYA
COLONIAL PERIOD ERA
The history of banking in Kenya dates back to the colonial period. Colonial rule brought in its
wake new forms of banking. British commercial banks started operations in Kenya during the
1890s. The operations of these foreign owned banks were characterised by high degree of
concentration, branch banking, an almost exclusive concern with financing external trade and for
many decades, a lack of interest in, or involvement with, the African population.
As Kenya became more and more part of this capitalist world economy, the banks established
themselves in the colony to provide services for financing exports and imports. Three British banks
dominated banking in colonial Kenya. The National Bank of India (later National and Grind lays
Bank) began operations in 1896. It was followed in 1910 by the Standard bank of South Africa
(later standard Bank and Standard Chartered), and shortly thereafter the national Bank of South
Africa entered the field. In 1925, the latter merged with two other British banks to form Barclays
Bank Dominion Colonial and overseas (later Barclays Bank).
Although their primary interest was to finance external trade, as time

Red Imagery In Macbeth
Imagery is defined as visually descriptive or figurative language, especially in a literary work.
William Shakespeare is notorious for using strong metaphors in his work to create vivid images in
readers minds, especially in his play Macbeth. Using such examples sets a dark tone for the story
and allows readers to form their own mental interpretation. In the play, imagery is prevalent through
references to blood, animals, clothing, and nighttime, symbolising darkness. Whether these themes
are shown through characters actions, speech, or just implied thoughts, they are present and
plentiful. The color red is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, passion, love, and
most notably, blood. In Macbeth, there is real bloodshed from death, but it is also as a symbol for
harsh deeds. Shakespeare uses sharp blood red imagery because it is easy to visualize for
readers since they are so familiar with the color. One of the boldest references in the play occurs
in Act II, scene II when Lady Macbeth replies to Macbeth s admission of guilt. Here, she also
admits to having blood on her hands, and the stain which later comes back to haunt her is
revealed. Her line My hands are of your color but I shame to wear a heart so white. strongly
portrays imagery because the reader can see the defined line between white, purity, and red, sin.
The line comes off as Lady Macbeth s first real cry for help, and readers can see her begin to
crumble. Although their hands are not

My first case I want to share is about a man named Jonathan James according to the New York

the United States defense department and National Aeronautics and space administration aka

months under house arrest due to the fact he was a juvenile at the time the crimes were committed.
He also had to wright an apology note to NASA and the other government agencies he breached he

Throughout the piece I found myself taking the role of a referential listener. Which I believe to be

Also it seems that both the instruments used and their arrangement amongst one another is
done in a way that resembles how it would have been originally played. The first piece,
Beethoven Egmont Ouverture, Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1 was particularly good I thought
and exhibited a lot of the concepts we have studied in this course. For example unity, throughout
the piece I felt that there was a strong backbone section which kept the piece feeling familiar.
Even when there would be seemingly unrelated ideas thrown in, I always felt that it was taken
back to familiar ideas. Having said that there was definitely a lot of variety in the piece. There
were several ideas throughout, which sometime would come back in a pattern while others
would only make an appearance once. There was also a lot of variety in the volume or dynamic
of the piece which gave a nice variety to it. Additionally several different instruments were used
which gave several different timbres. The tempo also varied a lot within the piece. Going from
fast to slow and vice versa, and with different accelerations which gave it a nice feel. The overall
rhythm of the piece was nice and polyphonic. This piece was made in the classical era of art (2).
The second piece, Mahler Symphony No. 1 was not as good for me, although it still exhibited a lot
of the concepts we have studied in this course. For example

Narrative Essay On Maple Street
Maple Street. The middle of July. An ideal Saturday afternoon with temperatures at a fairly
comfortable 80 degrees, the air permeated with the tantalizing smell of a barbecue or two around
the neighborhood. Boys played pick up baseball at the nearby recreational dugout. Girls played
hopscotch and giggled at boys they fancied passing by on bicycles. Neighbors waved to each
other as they passed on the chalk laden sidewalks, and the trees were exuding the pleasant song of
birds perched upon their branches. This was it. The perfect summer day. A young, fair haired boy
named Bobby, rode around the neighborhood aimlessly on his brand new, bright red Schwinn
bicycle, which he had received as an 11th birthday present less than a month earlier. A small
transistor radio was hanging from one of the handles, belting out Dee Dee Sharp s Mashed Potato
Time at a boisterous volume.
Mr. Hargis, the resident Neighborhood Grouch, was watering his lawn and smoking a fresh cigar.
Bobby, being fascinated by Mr. Hargis, stopped pedaling and planted his feet to the ground,
watching intently from a safe distance. Mr. Hargis sensed the eyes on him and raised his head
toward the direction, locking eyes with the boy. Normally he would have scowled and shooed away

Essay The Stranger
Albert Camus The Stranger, is told by narrarator, Meursault . Our speaker seems to be a person
detached from feelings, he shows no emotion. Neither the external world in which Meursault lives
nor the internal world of his thoughts and attitudes possesses any rational order. He doesn t have
reasons for doing half of the things he does. For these reasons I believe Meursault is determined,
but doesn t know it.
Our protagonist and narrarator, Meursault is completely distant from his surroundings. Significant
emotional events do not even seem to effect him as they would for most people. They don t even
make a dent. He has no sentiment. His mothers death, a marriage proposal, killing ... Show more

Our next main character is Marie Cardona. She is Meursaults woman. She proposes to him but
he is indifferent to the ideas of love and marriage, which doesn t even have a negative effect on
her feelings for him. In fact, it might even attract her a little more to him because of his
weirdness. She is disappointed in him but loves him and still wants to marry him. She is loyal
to Meursault and stands by him through out the trial. She is not on the same level as our
protagonist, obviously. She still holds onto hope in her life. She believes in an upside in things.
She shows emotion. For these reasons she is not like Meursault. She can t just be so indifferent
like her lover. They are on different mental levels and have different views of the world around
them. For these reasons I believe that Marie is a free character. I think that she is a romantic. I
think she goes with the flow and does what she wants. I also think this is part of the reason she
likes Meursault. He doesn t question her about what she does when he is not around(even though its
because he doesn t care).
Our final main character is Raymond Sinter. If a person like Meursault could have a friend, this is
who he would be. I use the term friend loosely because with such and indifferent personality, a real
friend would

Hells Influence In Dante s Inferno
Hell s Influence
(An analysis of whether or not hell is a legitimate propaedeutic for moral behavior through the study
of Dante s Inferno)
Go to Hell... a phrase we hear often. From the time we are young, the pastors and preachers of
the various churches we attend dictate our behavior by threatening us. They tell us continually
that if we don t follow the commandments of God at all times and in all places, we are going to go
to Hell. The only way to avoid it is to repent of all of our sins and never repeat those sins again.
Dante Alighieri was one of the first people to explore the punishments that are given in Hell. After
he was exiled from Florence, Dante used the time to write his Divine Comedy. This poem is
separated into three different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the second circle the lustful are punished by losing control as they are swept into an intense
wind. The fifth circle punished the wrathful as the attack and eat each other. Both of these
punishments are terrifying and a legitimate propaedeutic for moral behavior because they are both
sins that seem insignificant, but still have horrible and aggressive punishments. The sixth circle
holds the heretics entombed in fire, also a legitimate propaedeutic for moral behavior because it
makes every request and statement against God seem much more extreme as it could land them in
this terrible circle of Hell. Dante s ideas were accepted and even revered by the rest of the world
when they realized just how legitimate of a propaedeutic Inferno was for good moral behavior. As
Susan Blow explains in her analysis of Dante s Inferno, His poem is not individual but universal;
he utters not his own thought, but the unformulated creed of Christendom. (Blow) Christians
obviously loved Dante s story and even began using it and the ideas shown in it to terrify all the

The Current Pressurized Oxygen Tension Based Indices Response
In this thesis, I have attempted to further explore the nature of the current utilised oxygen tension
based indices response, with a view to its use as a tool to assess the pulmonary oxygenation in
critically ill patients. Furthermore, this thesis developed a new index to assess pulmonary
oxygenation. This topic was explored with external pulmonary factors to quantify oxygenation
defect through a maze of mathematics, different diseases, and pathophysiology. There was one or
two ways that could lead us to the answer and many dead end routes. Ultimately, the research
produced an equation that was more robust than the PaO2/FiO2 ratio in terms of less variation. The
first chapter described two different types of oxygen indices and its use. The second chapter
described the medical simulator in general and the Nottingham Physiology Simulator (NPS) in
particular. In chapter three, we examined the variation of certain oxygen indices with changes in the
following external physiological factors (FIO2, Hb, RQ, and VO2) without changing the pulmonary
configuration status. This investigation was done with ARDS simulated patients using a validated
NPS model. The study demonstrates that the external physiological factors induced a remarkable
variation in comparing to oxygen indices, and the use of each index depends on the type of the
external physiological factors. However, we conclude that clinicians should be aware of using the
best index according to patient s status. Accordingly,

Use Of Irony In Rear Window
In the classic movie Rear Window, directed by Alfred Hitchcock, uses of irony occur frequently
until the movie meets its tragic end. Starting with Jeff s confinement and ending with the symbolic
death of Lisa, the movie has a constant somber tone and ends with a final disastrous moment. These
tragedies are often complemented with irony, the usage of a characteror plot development in order
to state the opposite of what is being physically said/shown.
After the camera shows the viewers the inhabitants of the community, it lands on Jeff. First, it
shows all of Jeff s photos from his travels. These show the viewer that Jeff is a photojournalist and

Jefferies. The camera symbolically tell us the story of a man who loved to explore and
immortalize moments, now confined in a single room with only his memory to make things
last. This is ironic because it is showing a man who is completely miserable in his current
situation, but later in the movie he gets entirely wrapped up in the view from his terrible
confinement. In fact, he even risks his life because he is so obsessed with his new life. Despite
what he physically projects, he loves where he is at. Later in the movie, irony comes up yet
again. Miss Lonelyheart is shown setting the table for two. Suddenly, she gets up and opens the
door for what is presumed to be her date. However, no one is there. She still escorts this person in
and seats him at her table. She pours him wine and then collapses in tears, realizing how lonely she

The Results of Student Censorship
The students of this country are expected to follow the rules and regulations that their schools
impose, and whether or not they are fair is constantly challenged. In a perfect world, everyone
would be content under the same guidelines, regardless of how restrictive they may be. However,
this is not a perfect world and finding a universal agreement among everyone is virtually
impossible. Throughout history, those who have disagreed with actions made by authoritative
figures have found a way to protestsaid actions. From the Cambodian protests in Kent State to the
Tiananmen Square protests, students have been very vocal about what they are against and refuse
to be censored by their schools or their government. Attempting to do so, however, could lead to
retribution from authorities. Censoring students and their voices affects the students by almost
trying to instill fear and demoting contest from them can result in various scenarios, both good and
bad. Violence is never the answer, but there have been more than a few occasions where violence
was the chosen path from a group trying to suppress students. One of the most infamous cases of
violence against protesting students is the Kent State Massacre. On May 4, 1970 students of Ohio s
Kent State Universityhad a demonstration against then President Ronald Reagan s decision to
invade Cambodia during the Vietnam War. In an attempt to shut this demonstration down, The Ohio
National Guard was called in. What followed is

The Existence Of Diabetes Mellitus
The existence of diabetes mellitus was first recognized by the ancient Egyptians and Greeks
when individuals showed signs of excessive urination, rapid weight loss, and sweet tasting urine.
Diagnosis was, therefore, made by designated water tasters, who drank the urine of potential
diabetes patients searching for a sweet taste. Because diabetes patients are drained of fluids, the
Greek philosopher Apollonius coined the term diabetes for the disease, which means to siphon or
to pass through. The name mellitus originated from Latin and was later added to the term
diabetes. (9) For thousands of years, little information was known about diabetes. The remedies
used at the time were largely ineffective, and many individuals died from diabetes after short life
spans. In 1776, Matthew Dobson discovered that the urine of diabetes patients contained increased
concentrations of glucose. In 1797, John Rollo recognized a link between diet and treatment of
diabetes. In 1812, the disease was clinically recognized in the New England Journal of Medicine
and Surgery, and the first laboratory tests were developed to measure the presence of sugar in urine.
(9) During the following two hundred years, the scientific community gained a greater
understanding of diabetes and its pathology, prevention, and treatment. In 1869, Paul Langerhans
identified various types of pancreatic cells. In the early 1900 s, a pancreatic substance was
extracted and termed insulin. In the 1920 s,

Despotism And The Framers Of The Constitution Dbq
King George the Third ruled England through despotism, and the Framers of the Constitution did
not want the same fate. In May of 1787, fifty five state delegates arranged a Constitutional
Convention in Philadelphia. The delegates argued a long list of reasons why the Articles of
Confederation was not working, thus creating a completely new outline of the government. The
making of the Constitution restrained one person or group from obtaining too much power and
turning America into an autocracy. The Framers introduced, federalism, separation of power,
checks and balances, and the small and large state compromise into the governing document.
Federalism was a strong starting point to prevent America from becoming a dictatorship. Different
powers were given in James Madison s compound government. The state and federal governments
provide double security to the rights of the people in America. (Doc. A) On one hand, the state
government deals with smaller, more private situations, such as establishing schools, holding
elections, and setting up local governments. On the other hand, the federal government deals with
bigger issues, such as declaring war, making immigration laws, and regulating trade. Even though

Each business division was in turn split into product groups. The electronics business division
was split into four product groups, which produced a wide variety of products. The entertainment
division, which consisted of the music group and the pictures group, made music videos and
motion pictures. The finance division consisted of Sony s life insurance and finance business.
The company s growth was propelled by the launch of innovative products and by its foray into
the music and films business. Restructuring of electronics business (1994) Under Ohga s
leadership, Sony witnessed negligible growth in sales during 1990 and 1994. Sales and operating
revenues improved by only 2 per cent during that period. However, the net income and operating
income registered a drastic fall of 87 per cent and 67 per cent respectively. Analysts felt that the
stagnation in the electronics industry coupled with factors such as the recession in the Japanese
economy and the appreciation of the yen against the dollar led to the deterioration in the company s
performance. It was noticed that in the electronics business (see Table 3), the revenues of the video
and audio equipment businesses were coming down or were at best stagnant, while the television
and Others group were showing signs of improvement. The Others group, which consisted of

Rhetorical Analysis Of `` The Necessary Art Of Persuasion ``
Today s business environment is fundamentally the same as it s always been. An individual gets
into business to provide goods and/or services in exchange for a premium. That could be many
things ranging from other goods, services, money, or an agenda. In the article, The Necessary Art of
Persuasion, the author, Jay A. Conger, attempts to illustrate to the readers that one must learn and
become fluid in the art of persuasionin the business environment. I believe this argument in favor of
persuasion is relative now more then ever.
In the past persuasion has had a place in sales and marketing. Attempting to use persuasive
techniques in other areas of business could have been deemed as devious or manipulative.
However, certain aspects of how we do business and conduct ourselves has changed over the years.
Although the fundamental purpose as to why we do business is still the same how we get to the
end goal is not.
Persuasion definitely has its place in the business world. A great use for persuasive techniques is
communicating internally within ones organization. Conger describes in his article that in order
for one to be successful with the use of persuasion one must first redefine what they consider
persuasion to be. This article also dives into why persuasion is good to motivate ones subordinates
and get them to become more effective and efficient at what there function is. The old way to
manage individuals is similar to how military organizations do. These types of

have been devastating to the McNeil company by drastic decrease in consumption of the Tylenol

consumption. According to Laurels: The National Business Hall of Fame , Tylenol s share in the
one billion dollar analgesic market commanded thirty five percent of the market before the 1982
incident. At the time of these episodes, consumer trust was damaged and market share decreased to
seven percent. By February 1983, Tylenol had regained a twenty four percent share of the
market(Diary of an Amazing Comeback). In the 1990 s, Tylenol again reached its thirty five percent

consumers had faith in the McNeil company s ability to produce safe and trustworthy products, i.e.

Annotated Bibliography On Global Mobility Of Latin America...
A Guide to Global Mobility in Latin America and the United States
Introduction
For multinational organizations the global movement of employees is essential, but companies
today are faced with a maze of legal issues to consider. The following article provides a regional
overview of current trends, key government agencies, and visas for business travel, training and
employment assignments for the United States and certain countries in Latin America, including
Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Venezuela.
Immigration laws differ from country to country. Although the specific names for the visas and the
requirements differ, there are common patterns and trends especially for countries balancing the
interest of engaging in global commerce against protecting local labor markets and national security.
Treaties and bi lateral agreements often give special privileges to citizens from specific countries
(e.g., benefits for citizens of Canada, Mexico and the United States under the North American Free
Trade Agreement). Be careful not to overlook these sometimes hidden gems when considering
alternative visa strategies.
Current Trends
It invariably takes longer than expected to secure all of the authorizations required before an
employee can travel abroad for business.
The best laid plans go often awry. Sometimes short term business travel may seem like the only
way to meet an immediate need. But the visas that are quickly available for such trips generally

The Argument For God s Existence And Nature
Question 2
In part IX of Hume s Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion, Deamea, the orthodox Christian,
confronts Philo s skepticism towards the arguments for God s existence and nature that have thus
far be discussed. Deamea presents a version of the ontological argument that he believes should
provide undeniable proof of the truths found in religious dogma. However, Philo is not convinced
with this argument because of the nature of the argument. Philo describes Deamea s ontological
argument as an a priori argument. In Latin a priori is means from before but when this term is
used in philosophy it is meant to mean from before experience. These kinds of arguments are
arguments that anyone can come to see as being true from the comfort of ... Show more content on

These arguments argue for something through the use of empirical evidence. An example of a
posteriori knowledge would be the statement, Barack Obama is the current president of the United
States. This is an example of empirical information that cannot be proven through reason alone. The
different viewpoints between a priori and a posteriori arguments can be seen in works for Thomas
Aquinas and Anselm of Canterbury. Both Saints believe that Godis self evident. However, Aquinas
uses a priori arguments and Anselm uses an a priori argument. I believe that Aquinas does not reject
Anselm s argument because it is a priori. Aquinas issues with Anselm s argument lies in Anselm s
misuse of his definition of God and humanity s inability to understand this definition. In his
ontological argument, Anselm defines God as that than which nothing greater can be thought.
According to Aquinas, this is where the main issue lies in Anselm s argument. Aquinas believes
that everyone must have the same concept of God in order for Anselm s definition of God to work.
Not everyone will define God as that than which nothing greater can be thought. This definition is
the basis of Anselm s argument and if people cannot come to define God as Anselm did then the
argument fails. Aquinas second issue with Anselm s ontological argument comes from the fact that
even if everyone comes to accept God as that

Fast And Slow By Daniel Kahneman
In selected chapters of Thinking, Fast and Slow, Daniel Kahneman challenges the traditional
economic utility model by presenting the prospect theory, where pecuniary variables are no longer
the only determinants. George A. Akerlof and Richel E. Kranton support this challenge by
providing two economic analysis models that include identity as an important variable. While
Kahneman focuses primarily on individuals inability to make decisions based on profit determined
utility values, Akerlof and Kranton emphasize that motivation associated with identity is the
missing component of the traditional utility model.
In order to demonstrate flaws of the traditional view, Kahneman supports three principles of
prospect theory with various examples. First, by pointing out errors in Bernoulli s model and the
indifferent model, Kahneman emphasizes the broad range of the reference point, that it is not only
the change of wealth, but also the context and the mindset. Second, Kahneman analyzes loss
aversion, one of the dominant mindsets. Third, Kahneman argue that sensitivity has great impact
on decision making by providing gambling cases of rare and risky events. With the knowledge of
these three principles, Kahneman further implies that people can be trained to against these
intuitive system one thinking patterns.
While acknowledging the limitation of the prospect theory, that it fails to deal with disappointment
and regret, Kahneman neglects the effect of emotions that human

Mobileye
Mobil Eye Case A) Mobileye, founded by Amnon Shashua and Ziv Aviram, is a company leading
the market in technologically advanced software algorithms, system on chips, and applications
customized to extensively process visual information for the use of advanced driver assistance
systems, or ADAS. Mobileye is the market leader for ADAS because of its unmatched customer
value proposition, or CVP; focusing on continuously improving safety, avoiding accidents, and
saving lives in an increasingly affordable way. This value the customer receives comes from the
applications that increase the safety in vehicles such as warnings for lane departure and forward
collision, autonomous emergency braking, and many other active safety features. These... Show

This vehicle requires no steering wheel, gas, or brake pedals, and already has 500,000 miles of
test driving. It includes an advanced linar, light detection and ranging, sensor system for
developing detailed maps of roads it has traveled on. Google s disadvantages as a competitor all
stream from the outrageous cost of its self driving car prototype, which is $170,000. Shashua and
Aviram do not believe it could be commercialized at such a price. Also, the mapping system would
involve an immense amount of driving and is extremely unrealistic on a global scale. There is also
a possibility of road construction, changing roads and highways making the memory saved in the
systems inaccurate for the mapping system used by Google. In addition, Shashua and Aviram
believe that it is not to Google s advantage to attempt such huge leaps into the future so soon.
Lastly, the other potential competition that could challenge Mobileye would be OmniVision. This
company develops digital imaging solutions for a multitude of markets besides automotive,
including entertainment, medical imaging, PC cameras, mobile phones, and security and
surveillance. OmniVision has technology such as a 360 degree view, lane change detection, and
autonomous driving. The technology used in those various devices could be applied to visual
processing for ADAS s, along with radar and lidar. An advantage OmniVision possesses is that it

Introduction
Strategic management contains various subjects and topics, most of which do not have the
consistent identity (Ketchen, Boyd and Bergh, 2008). It is no doubt that there are still many
debates towards strategy concept. In this essay, the article crafting strategy will be reviewed. This is
analysed by putting the article in to a wider debate about strategy, then discussing its main strengths
and weaknesses.
Placing of the article in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This idea fully reflects the complexity for the business world, even though Mintzberg has an ardent
preference towards emergent strategy, there is no guaranty that this is the most suitable or perfect
method for all business. Besides, other analyses also illustrate the importance of strategy making
blends autonomy and planning in emergent strategy mode. To be more specific, by combining
those two modes, organisation is able to gain productive adaptive capability and optimal alignment
in firm through adapting to unpredictable environment in emergent strategy mode and coordinating
business activities to complete company s efficiency in strategy planning (Andersen and Nielsen.
2009).
Another strength of this article is the statement about strategic thinking. Fiona (2002) points out
that the central to sustain competitive advantage is to have a creative and divergent strategic
thinking. This fresh perspective represents a new way for managers to consider and evaluate the
operation of organisation. Just as Mintzberg mentions, strategic thinking is captured by informal
learning from diverse sources included experiences, leading to an integrated view towards the firm,
and then synthesizing the learning into an image of the business direction (1994). In contrast, many
administrators merely analyse the figures and graphs, but

Ella Fitzgerald Essay examples
Ella Fitzgerald
To some, Ella Fitzgerald had a hard life from the moment she was born. To others, Ella had it
made. Ella Fitzgerald was born April 25th 1917 in Virginia. Soon afterwards, her parents
separated and Ella followed her mother to Yonkers, New York. Ella was barely a teenager when
her mother died. While still coping with this tragedy, Ella found herself failing school and having
frequent run ins with the police. She was also abused by her caretakers while in the custody of a
reform school.
At age 15 Ella ran away from school along with the horrible memories of that time. Somehow she
managed to support herself through the Great Depression, a feat that is most commendable. Ella

Ella s voice had a sweetness to it that was rarely accompanied by such a wide range as hers. Her
style has been described as effortless, natural, flexible, ageless and accessible. Many call her The
First Lady of Song . She started as a swing singer, moved to bebop, perfected scat and jazz and
could sing modern or classic songs. Artists whose songs she stylized included Louis Armstrong,
Cole Porter, Johnny Mercer, Irving Berlin, Duke Ellingtonand the Gershwins.
Throughout her life she collaborated on more than 250 albums, sold more than 40 million of
those albums and won 13 Grammy awards. Her influence soon spread throughout the musical
circuit and her singing style was much imitated in the 1950s and 1960s. Ella s trademark of scat
singing (a technique in which the singer improvises as an instrument would and uses nonsense
syllables) was taken up by many male and female jazz vocalists. Sarah Vaughn, Billie Holiday and
the modern day Joss Stone all show signs of Ella s influence. Ella is also credited with inspiring
the great Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet and Mel Torme to some extent.
Although Ella s influence through style is great, perhaps her greatest achievement can be noticed
in her career as a whole. Ella Fitzgerald was an influential woman with many followers around the
world, of all races, religions and nationalities. In many ways she opened the

Transcendentalism has 5 basic values which are confidence, self reliance, free thought, nature and
nonconformity. Stronger by Kelly Clarkson is a song that reflected transcendentalist values. The
song embodies self reliance and confidence as a transcendental thought. In this song Clarkson
teaches the people that they must have self confidence and must rely on themselves in order to be
stronger. Kelly Clarkson explains the message of the song that even if somebody feels defeated,
he/she has to have a potential and confidence to get back up on his/her foot because the problem
that he/she is facing didn t kill them in fact it made them stronger. This song represents confidence

My Monitoring Experience During These Classes
Today was a very fun day for me, but there was not a lot of teacher observation to do. This is
because, today Mrs. DeLorenzo was assessing each student individually and asked me to teach,
while she was outside of the classroom assessing one student at a time. During CAMPEL, I also
had to step up and help out the technology teacher as there was a technical problem with all the
computers and she was trying to fix them up, so class could run. Therefore, for the purpose of
this journal, I will list my monitoring experience during these classes. Mrs. DeLorenzo gave me
her Community Booklet and told me that each child had one. She asked me to do two or three
pages with them while she was outside of the classroom. First, I called the attention of the students
and asked them to take out their booklets. Each page had 2 activities, so I gave them instructions in
what to do in the first activity. They started working on it and I walked around the classroom
observing their work and helping when needed. However, all of the sudden I had students walking
around the classroom, students trying to talk to me about their field trip, students telling other
students what to do, some students were talking loudly about things that were not related to the work
, and others were playing around with their material.
I first told them that they had to stay seated. Then that they had to concentrate on their work and
that if they did so, I would give them time to talk to me about other stuff in the

Maya Dance Rites
RITUALS Dance had an important role in the Maya rites, since they were used as a connection
between the ruler and the goods. The dances used music, which represented cosmic harmony given
the fact that involved rhythm. It was assumed that the gods set the universe motion through dance.
Therefore, the dances were used for initiation rites, celebrations of beginning war, celebrations of
victory, fertility rituals, astronomic and calendrical celebrations, cosmogonic rites and rites
associated with death.
Some examples of dances are: the Holmul Dancer, which was used for fertility ceremonies; the Ix
tzul dance performed by the Hero Twins, this dance was characterized by the use of masks and
the legend it told, which was how the Robinal warrior was captured and sacrificed by the
Quinche lords. According to the book, The Maya Voices of the Stone, people were able to know
more about Maya Dance Rites, since there has been some evidence that show some of the the
dances, given the fact that they were drawn on vessels and paintings. ... Show more content on

Gender Inequality in Hollywood Essay
Stereotypes in our society are not uncommon. We come across them every day without realizing
it. It is in our human nature to create expectations of the people around us, which could be based
upon their ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender or other factors. Stereotypes help us categorize a
vast group of people that we may not know anything about, to think that they are smaller and less
intimidating. I believe that the blame for these cookie cutter patterns can lead directly back to the
media in every sense of the word. Media is all around us, and affects our opinions and ability to
think for ourselves. Whether it s the latest box office hit or the headlining news, we are getting
assumptions from every point of view, which makes it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But the bias stereotypes are also expanded to men in the media as well.
A common action movie consists of a physically and mentally equipped male lead who often
saves himself and his attractive female supporting lead. The status quo for a man in Hollywood
is quite simple; strong and handsome. BBC: Culture wrote an article about the blandness in
actors these days. They said that men in the media are always set to play one specific role, and it
is hard to break out of that category that Hollywood has cast them as. For example, Daniel
Radcliffe will always be Harry Potter in the eyes of it s fans. Ryan Gosling will always play a
bad boy heartthrob, and is ostracized when he doesn t. The article says that these categories are
pushing young actors into divisions based on their looks, not necessarily their talents. This is also
known as type casting, or when an actor becomes known as only being able to play one role.

The Moral Dilemma Of Children
For nine long, gestational months, a mother to be is seen as the carrier of the future. The ultimate
protector that should want to do any and everything possible to ensure that her baby has the best
opportunity for life. Being a guardian the child is her moral obligation to it because it cannot take
care of itself. So, what happens if she chooses to put her life over the child s and consume drugs
while pregnant? There will be those that will support the mother whatever path she takes, and
surely those that will think of the mother as ethically unsound. Seana Shiffrin and her Wrongful
Life paper strongly advocates a mother s responsibility to the fetusto do everything in her power to
ensure that her future child has the best life possible. Though her context is within the realm of
congenital disability and choosing to have it despite the moral dilemma, it does applies to the
culpability of drug using mothers. Shiffrin believes that people do not look at child birth done
haphazardly as something a mother is accountable for. However, Shiffrin believes that those who
acted negligently or worse toward the foreseeable burdens their children would incur should be
liable (Shiffrin,135). I believe that in the case of criminality, She would view mothers with a drug
addictionas those that should be held legally accountable for their abuses due to the harmful effects
it could have on the fetus in the future. Many argue that even though a child is born with some
form of defect,

The Model T Revolutionized The Automotive Industry
When Henry Ford began making cars, he felt that the automotive was destined to make the horse
and carriage disappear. However, to make that happen first he needed to produce a car that was
affordable by everyone. In 1908, he achieved that with the production of the Model T. The
Model T revolutionized the automotive industry. The Model T was the first affordable car for
the masses. Its affordability came from several properties. First, the Model T featured all
interchangeable parts. Parts in one Model T were exactly the same as the parts in another model T
made in the same year. Second, the Model T was the first car to contain vanadium steel parts,
which were stronger, more dependable and lighter weight than previous steel pieces and they could
be manufactured easier. Third, the Ford Company was the first company to employ a moving
assembly linewhich allowed them to assemble the cars faster than anyone else.
In the early 1900s, the automotive industry was a burgeoning business with many competitors
trying to out do each other. Companies rose and fell on a regular basis. By 1903, 214 different
companies had arisen in America to manufacture the automobile. However, by 1904, at least 84 of
those had either ceased to exist or changed to a different line of work. (Ford, 234) When he joined
the ranks of manufacturers in 1903, Henry Ford was determined to make his company work. When
the Ford Motor Company began, it like many other companies of its time, ordered parts for their

Describe Yourself As A Writer
When I was young, I always knew that college is important to the major that you choose. When I
see my aunt, I ask many questions about college and how it is like. I thought it would be
challenging and stressful. Then it was stressful because I want to improve my writing. When I see
myself as a writer, I think about the process, then I consider the improvements I need to make, and
lastly the strengths I have.
First, I think about the writing process. When the teacher or professor give me an essay, I start right
away. I start right away because I don t want my work to be late and I have other assignment to do
for other classes. Once I read the prompt, I start my outline to know what to write in my essay. I
just think about what I know and don t know, then put it onto paper. For the outline, I will do
sentences or sometimes words only. It depends on the topic or essay I write. I find the outline is a
helpful way to get started.
After the outline, I start researching the topic. I use the internet for the research. I use it because
it is helpful. It is helpful because I take examples of how to start. I use google and look at images of
essays. It provides inspiration for the essay. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Research Project On The Data Collection Process
Manatowa Research Project Report
Identify and describe key lessons learned in your data collection process
The first potential participant I spoke with on the phone asked me a question, can any staff
member volunteer to participate or do they have to be a licensed social worker ? A very valid
question and something I had not anticipated. I did not know how to answer her at first. That fact
was not part of my research design. As explained by the University of Oxford Personnel Service
UAS (2015) among the standards in research is the practice code of being honest in proposing,
conducting and reporting research. Academic research often has class timeline parameters which
puts a strain on the academic researcher. The integrity of the researcher in academic research class
may be tested by shortcomings as the result of faults in the design phase. The academic research
must choose to do the right thing and act in an ethical manner when situations arise such as in the
recruitment of participants and modifications during the data collection phase.
Research design can eliminate potential pitfalls and challenges during research data collection and
interpretation of that data. Spending more time and effort in the design phase will help to eliminate
and/or reduce such ethical situations. Crotty (1998) suggested:
1.What epistemology, theory of knowledge, embedded in the theoretical perspective, informs the
research (e.g., objectivism, subjectivism, etc.)?
2.What

University Concert Essay
I attended the University Singers Fall Cabaret on October 25, 2015. The concert took place in
Sursa Hall at 7:30 p.m. The audience was not completely full, but there were more people than I
would have anticipated for a Sunday evening concert. The audience was a pretty even mixture
between community member and students of the university. Before the concert, there was hardly
anything happening on stage. I assume this was because most of the performers were putting on
costumes or getting make up done for the concert. The first song was And All That Jazz. And All
That Jazz was written by John Kander and Fred Ebb for the musical Chicago. The song was sort
of a silly song about a girl wanting to go out with a guy and after anytime she describes anything
she finishes with, and all that jazz . The tempo is allegro because it seemed as if the female was
excited with her plans. The dynamics of this song was mezzo forte because she was not
necessarily being overly loud, but she was not being quiet either. The song was pleasant to listen to
and easy to understand because the song was in English. The only complaint I have about this song
is that it said, And all that jazz several times, but that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. The Value Of Financial Ratio Analysis When the economy expands, most industries and companies benefit and grow with it and the reverse is true, that is why it is important for analysts or even individual investors to keep an eye on the economy to determine when it is going to be beneficial for them to invest their money. The economic environment indicators assist these investors in determining the state of the economy. In this paper, I will describe the methods used to assess the macroeconomic environment, discuss the value of financial ratioanalysis in the context of common stock investing and compare intrinsic value and market price. Macroeconomic environment Unlike their counterparts during the great depression, financial policymakers today have enormous statistics at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Employment indicators The unemployment rate measures the rate at which the economy is operating at full capacity. It also has its roots embedded in the great depression when the rate reached about 25% (rbcpa.com). The unemployment rate is defined as the percentage of unemployed workers in the entire labor force (Bodie, et al, 2011). When people are unemployed the economy loses their contribution in terms of goods and services. The increase in the percentage of unemployed indicates the extent of economic hardship faced by the nation, therefore it is important for policymakers to know the number of unemployed workers in an economy in order to make better decisions in regards to the growth of the economy. Government fiscal and monetary policy Fiscal policy is the ability of the federal government to increase and decrease its spending, if government spending is zero, there will limited economic growth (Mitchell, 2005). Current government borrowing shifts the burden to future generations to repay debt. An example of how this policy has been used in the past to improve the economy is when the Federal Reserve System lowered its discount rate and in early 2008 Congress passed the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 (govtrack.us). The legislation gave taxpayers a tax rebate in the form of a check up to $600 for single filers, $1200 for married couples filing jointly (cnn.com). The hope was that consumers would take these checks and spend them to help keep the economy moving ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lurking off in the distance is one of two large scoreboard screens with the block M and blue painted on it. Downtown Ann Arbor was as busy as a bee. There is nothing like gameday in this city. Every single place is filled with people all wearing the colors of maize and blue. Sidewalks in this city are lined with every shop open selling anything with the block M on it. The smells of every kind of barbeque you can imagine fill the air from everyone tailgating. Inside the stadium, is where you can find the greatest time. Michigan stadium is a mecca for college football fans. But it s not just the football fans that love this stadium. People from all over come to the stadium to have the greatest hot dog ever assembled, The Wolverine Dog, . The smell of these hot dogs greets every fan as they walk in. • 4. Away With Murder How to Get Away with Murder has a multitude of elements that come into play throughout the series. The series follows a group of law students being mentored by Annalise Keating, a prominent defense attorney. The group deal with multiple deaths, usually caused by them, by using anything ranging from their knowledge of the law to hired hitmen to get their way. The repeated theme in the series exposes the harsh reality of how the local government and the people within are corrupt. A conscienceless society is a major concept that shapes each character s narcissistic frame of mind where they will do anything to achieve their own personal goals. Even with all the murders and deceit, in the end each character seems to accomplish part of their mission.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This episode really highlights the element s of how corrupt other can be due to how easily the hospital staff was bribed to forge false medical documents. This just goes to show corruption can transcend the real of law and move into other aspects, such as medicine. The students show how much they have become desensitized by being unsympathetic toward the shooting they were involved in. They even go as far as plotting to kill the victim after finding out he is still alive. The students only show concern for themselves and the people within their group. Oliver Hampton is the only character to openly express sympathy for the victims. He seems to be a personified version of the other characters conscience. Early in the series he is not as prevalent because the students have not been introduced to their life of lies, but as the series goes on and the students begin to lose emotion toward their actions, he comes more of a constant figure to add more empathy. Oliver s constant reminder of how the group s actions have affected others is what keeps them from basically becoming ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Journey From Darkness To Light In Mccarthy s The Road McCarthy s novel and Hillcoat s film adaptation of The Road portray a father and son s arduous journey for survival, through key scenes, themes and flashbacks. The father and son in The Road go from darkness to light in their journey from a desolate unspecified location to a better and more inviting place and future. From the very beginning McCarthy creates a strong image by repeating nothing and ash , words that suggest darkness, introducing to the reader a world where people and places names are nameless and the darkness is a state of being. The motif of light appears at the end of the novel, suggesting a possible shade of faith. The author describes this in the scene of the boy watching over his dying father a fading light, the light of a candle . However, Hillcoat s film adaptation does not capture the vast, crushed emptiness of the world envisioned by McCarthy. The film contains hope, demonstrated by the brighter lighting and continuous flashbacks portraying bright colours of nature. The film adaption also features live animals such as birds which symbolise hope. In the novel, McCarthy shows hope by describing fish swimming in the stream, whereas Hillcoat portrayed hope by showing a live beetle fly from an open can. Though they both show signs of hope and life, one was presented while the father was still alive and the other after his death. The man demonstrates consistently that he is prepared to take whatever action necessary, even if violent, to ensure his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I used to be one of those too until last month when I did a research on Biology and by chance, came across a fact about how important breakfast is. I believe that as soon as you heard the topic, you will assume that I am going to give you a life lesson as your parents do. Breakfast is the most essential mealis spoken by every mother, yet the reasons why we should eat breakfast have never been clarified more clearly and seriously. The following speech will highlight that breakfast is required for three main reasons; first, it helps improve our grades; second, it controls our balance diet; and more importantly; it can promote... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To correct all misunderstandings, breakfast indeed helps us control healthy diets and even lose weight. How? Technically, skipping breakfast means your sugar level in blood drops even lower than the required standard. As a result, it will trigger your hunger and you will have less energy, which means that by lunch time you would be starving to death, and feel like you can eat a whole cow. As a consequence, you would end up overeating. What s about if we just ensure that we do not over consume for the rest of the day? Admittedly, for that case, you might lose some weight, but according to www. prevention.com, a reward of longterm skipping breakfast is to gain dangerous belly fat in return. For girls, it is believed that not having a regular eating habit can critically contribute to a risk of menstrual cycle irregularity. • 9. The Essential Role Of Bureaucracy Necessary In American... A bureaucracy is not only needed in American democracy, furthermore, it plays an essential role to keep it running smoothly. Some American citizens disagree that bureaucracies are beneficial for our democracy because they do not get to vote in the officials or bureaucrats. However, if they would be elected officials then the nominees running would campaign for fame or to be the next bureaucrat. This would create disloyalty among the nominees. One of the responsibilities of governmentbureaucrats is to implement the law given by Congress. If bureaucracydid not exist this responsibility would be delegated to congress, and the checks and balance system would not be as influential pertaining to laws. The Federal Bureaucracy provides the American people with the fifteen executive departments. • 10. Technology In Modern Society Did you know that the average person in this day and age spends nearly 3.9 years of their entire life using some sort of electronical device? In today s modernized society, we are greatly influenced by the uses of what technology has to offer. Not only does it play a key role in most of our lives, but it has revolutionized the way we actually live. Simply look around you and the chances are you will be faced with a wide array of different electronic technologies that have taken over the way we live. The use of modernized technologyis something rather new, but it is here to stay for years to come. This being said, in today s society, we are simply not mentally capable of understanding the true evils of what the use of technology has in storage for us. Technology has drastically changed throughout the years. From beginning with simple tools, to the current creation of mega powered modernized computers capable of endless possibilities and the list goes on. Whether or not one believes in all this technology is hard to say. But one thing is certain, technology has and will continue to control our lives for hundreds upon hundreds of years to come unless we can make a change. But the odds are,we will never change. The problem with technology is that it makes life so much easier. • 11. The Themes And Government Of 1984 By George Orwell The topics and themes of which an author chooses to write reveals a lot about their unique perspective of the world. One may be able to read a novel and understand the surface level descriptions of the plot and characters, but it takes a true critical thinker to analyze the symbolism the author may have intended. Many books reflect this, from Lord of the Flies to Moby Dick, and then to George Orwells 1984. The underlying cynicism of Winston Smith s actual name, The Party, and eventually Winston s love of Big Brother, speaks a greater truth than a first glance may reveal. Orwell used this novel as an outlet to speak out about the events around him, thus creating a phenomenon that has stood the test of time for decades. The themes and government of 1984 by George Orwell were influenced by Orwell s personal situation and upbringing, historical events of the 1940s, and reflect the worldwide governments of 2017. While 1984 may send the reader into many different trains of thought as the story progresses, it is very beneficial to track the controversial novel down to the source: Eric Arthur Blair. He was born into a poor household without much of a father figure, and led a mediocre educational career. He often resisted authority and ended up joining the Indian Imperial Police without a college education. Blair was described as very rebellious and served for five years before moving to the city and immersing himself in his writing, thus adopting the penname, George Orwell. ... • 13. The Legal And Political Systems Introduction It is noteworthy that the legal and political systems are fundamentally different in the first place due to the diverse perspectives of the world, and they have developed into two separate entities with their own purposes and model in the society. Therefore, it is unlikely that they share common philosophy and practices. However, like most other disciplines in the society, sometimes law and politics overlap to achieve a common goal, sometimes they complement each other and at other times, they contradict each other. For example, the differentiation of adversaries has no ground in the law and politics dominates over the rule of law when this occurs. Therefore, the goals, philosophy and practices in both systems do not entirely agree, hence reasoning in both systems must be different also. Tradition view The conventional view can be described as that political reasoning features consideration to political parties, social movements, public media, the legislature and the government, and politicians create their own normative ideology that defines and guides the behaviour of the society. James defines legal reasoning as an approach employed by legal officials to identify and apply legal rules to circumstances in order to solve legal cases, and that there are unique characteristics of legal reasoning which set it apart to other forms of reasoning, such characteristics include laws and precedents. The operations of these foreign owned banks were characterised by high degree of concentration, branch banking, an almost exclusive concern with financing external trade and for many decades, a lack of interest in, or involvement with, the African population. As Kenya became more and more part of this capitalist world economy, the banks established themselves in the colony to provide services for financing exports and imports. Three British banks dominated banking in colonial Kenya. The National Bank of India (later National and Grind lays Bank) began operations in 1896. It was followed in 1910 by the Standard bank of South Africa (later standard Bank and Standard Chartered), and shortly thereafter the national Bank of South Africa entered the field. • 16. Red Imagery In Macbeth Imagery is defined as visually descriptive or figurative language, especially in a literary work. William Shakespeare is notorious for using strong metaphors in his work to create vivid images in readers minds, especially in his play Macbeth. Using such examples sets a dark tone for the story and allows readers to form their own mental interpretation. In the play, imagery is prevalent through references to blood, animals, clothing, and nighttime, symbolising darkness. Whether these themes are shown through characters actions, speech, or just implied thoughts, they are present and plentiful. The color red is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, passion, love, and most notably, blood. In Macbeth, there is real bloodshed from death, but it is also as a symbol for harsh deeds. Shakespeare uses sharp blood red imagery because it is easy to visualize for readers since they are so familiar with the color. One of the boldest references in the play occurs in Act II, scene II when Lady Macbeth replies to Macbeth s admission of guilt. Here, she also admits to having blood on her hands, and the stain which later comes back to haunt her is revealed. Her line My hands are of your color but I shame to wear a heart so white. strongly portrays imagery because the reader can see the defined line between white, purity, and red, sin. The line comes off as Lady Macbeth s first real cry for help, and readers can see her begin to crumble. Although their hands are not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For example unity, throughout the piece I felt that there was a strong backbone section which kept the piece feeling familiar. Even when there would be seemingly unrelated ideas thrown in, I always felt that it was taken back to familiar ideas. Having said that there was definitely a lot of variety in the piece. There were several ideas throughout, which sometime would come back in a pattern while others would only make an appearance once. There was also a lot of variety in the volume or dynamic of the piece which gave a nice variety to it. Additionally several different instruments were used which gave several different timbres. The tempo also varied a lot within the piece. Going from fast to slow and vice versa, and with different accelerations which gave it a nice feel. The overall rhythm of the piece was nice and polyphonic. This piece was made in the classical era of art (2). Hells Influence In Dante s Inferno Hell s Influence (An analysis of whether or not hell is a legitimate propaedeutic for moral behavior through the study of Dante s Inferno) Go to Hell... a phrase we hear often. From the time we are young, the pastors and preachers of the various churches we attend dictate our behavior by threatening us. They tell us continually that if we don t follow the commandments of God at all times and in all places, we are going to go to Hell. The only way to avoid it is to repent of all of our sins and never repeat those sins again. Dante Alighieri was one of the first people to explore the punishments that are given in Hell. The sixth circle holds the heretics entombed in fire, also a legitimate propaedeutic for moral behavior because it makes every request and statement against God seem much more extreme as it could land them in this terrible circle of Hell. The Current Pressurized Oxygen Tension Based Indices Response In this thesis, I have attempted to further explore the nature of the current utilised oxygen tension based indices response, with a view to its use as a tool to assess the pulmonary oxygenation in critically ill patients. Furthermore, this thesis developed a new index to assess pulmonary oxygenation. This topic was explored with external pulmonary factors to quantify oxygenation defect through a maze of mathematics, different diseases, and pathophysiology. There was one or two ways that could lead us to the answer and many dead end routes. Ultimately, the research produced an equation that was more robust than the PaO2/FiO2 ratio in terms of less variation. The first chapter described two different types of oxygen indices and its use. The second chapter described the medical simulator in general and the Nottingham Physiology Simulator (NPS) in particular. In chapter three, we examined the variation of certain oxygen indices with changes in the following external physiological factors (FIO2, Hb, RQ, and VO2) without changing the pulmonary configuration status. This investigation was done with ARDS simulated patients using a validated NPS model. The study demonstrates that the external physiological factors induced a remarkable variation in comparing to oxygen indices, and the use of each index depends on the type of the external physiological factors. However, we conclude that clinicians should be aware of using the best index according to patient s status. Accordingly, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Existence Of Diabetes Mellitus The existence of diabetes mellitus was first recognized by the ancient Egyptians and Greeks when individuals showed signs of excessive urination, rapid weight loss, and sweet tasting urine. Diagnosis was, therefore, made by designated water tasters, who drank the urine of potential diabetes patients searching for a sweet taste. Because diabetes patients are drained of fluids, the Greek philosopher Apollonius coined the term diabetes for the disease, which means to siphon or to pass through. The name mellitus originated from Latin and was later added to the term diabetes. (9) For thousands of years, little information was known about diabetes. The remedies used at the time were largely ineffective, and many individuals died from diabetes after short life spans. In 1776, Matthew Dobson discovered that the urine of diabetes patients contained increased concentrations of glucose. In 1797, John Rollo recognized a link between diet and treatment of diabetes. In 1812, the disease was clinically recognized in the New England Journal of Medicine and Surgery, and the first laboratory tests were developed to measure the presence of sugar in urine. The making of the Constitution restrained one person or group from obtaining too much power and turning America into an autocracy. • 38. Rhetorical Analysis Of `` The Necessary Art Of Persuasion `` Today s business environment is fundamentally the same as it s always been. An individual gets into business to provide goods and/or services in exchange for a premium. That could be many things ranging from other goods, services, money, or an agenda. In the article, The Necessary Art of Persuasion, the author, Jay A. Conger, attempts to illustrate to the readers that one must learn and become fluid in the art of persuasionin the business environment. I believe this argument in favor of persuasion is relative now more then ever. In the past persuasion has had a place in sales and marketing. Attempting to use persuasive techniques in other areas of business could have been deemed as devious or manipulative. However, certain aspects of how we do business and conduct ourselves has changed over the years. Although the fundamental purpose as to why we do business is still the same how we get to the end goal is not. Persuasion definitely has its place in the business world. A great use for persuasive techniques is communicating internally within ones organization. Conger describes in his article that in order for one to be successful with the use of persuasion one must first redefine what they consider persuasion to be. This article also dives into why persuasion is good to motivate ones subordinates and get them to become more effective and efficient at what there function is. The old way to manage individuals is similar to how military organizations do. These types of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These episodes could have been devastating to the McNeil company by drastic decrease in consumption of the Tylenol products. The McNeil company rallied to the situation to counter this possible decrease in consumption. According to Laurels: The National Business Hall of Fame , Tylenol s share in the one billion dollar analgesic market commanded thirty five percent of the market before the 1982 incident. At the time of these episodes, consumer trust was damaged and market share decreased to seven percent. By February 1983, Tylenol had regained a twenty four percent share of the market(Diary of an Amazing Comeback). In the 1990 s, Tylenol again reached its thirty five percent of the market which at this time accounted for a two billion dollar market(Laurels: The National Business Hall of Fame, Fortune). By regaining their share of the market, this demonstrated that the consumers had faith in the McNeil company s ability to produce safe and trustworthy products, i.e. Tylenol, for their comfort and happiness. • 41. Annotated Bibliography On Global Mobility Of Latin America... A Guide to Global Mobility in Latin America and the United States Introduction For multinational organizations the global movement of employees is essential, but companies today are faced with a maze of legal issues to consider. The following article provides a regional overview of current trends, key government agencies, and visas for business travel, training and employment assignments for the United States and certain countries in Latin America, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Venezuela. Immigration laws differ from country to country. Although the specific names for the visas and the requirements differ, there are common patterns and trends especially for countries balancing the interest of engaging in global commerce against protecting local labor markets and national security. Treaties and bi lateral agreements often give special privileges to citizens from specific countries (e.g., benefits for citizens of Canada, Mexico and the United States under the North American Free Trade Agreement). Be careful not to overlook these sometimes hidden gems when considering alternative visa strategies. Current Trends It invariably takes longer than expected to secure all of the authorizations required before an employee can travel abroad for business. The best laid plans go often awry. Sometimes short term business travel may seem like the only way to meet an immediate need. But the visas that are quickly available for such trips generally ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Argument For God s Existence And Nature Question 2 In part IX of Hume s Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion, Deamea, the orthodox Christian, confronts Philo s skepticism towards the arguments for God s existence and nature that have thus far be discussed. Deamea presents a version of the ontological argument that he believes should provide undeniable proof of the truths found in religious dogma. However, Philo is not convinced with this argument because of the nature of the argument. Philo describes Deamea s ontological argument as an a priori argument. These arguments argue for something through the use of empirical evidence. An example of a posteriori knowledge would be the statement, Barack Obama is the current president of the United States. This is an example of empirical information that cannot be proven through reason alone. The different viewpoints between a priori and a posteriori arguments can be seen in works for Thomas Aquinas and Anselm of Canterbury. Both Saints believe that Godis self evident. However, Aquinas uses a priori arguments and Anselm uses an a priori argument. I believe that Aquinas does not reject Anselm s argument because it is a priori. Aquinas issues with Anselm s argument lies in Anselm s misuse of his definition of God and humanity s inability to understand this definition. In his ontological argument, Anselm defines God as that than which nothing greater can be thought. According to Aquinas, this is where the main issue lies in Anselm s argument. Aquinas believes that everyone must have the same concept of God in order for Anselm s definition of God to work. Not everyone will define God as that than which nothing greater can be thought. This definition is the basis of Anselm s argument and if people cannot come to define God as Anselm did then the argument fails. Aquinas second issue with Anselm s ontological argument comes from the fact that even if everyone comes to accept God as that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fast And Slow By Daniel Kahneman In selected chapters of Thinking, Fast and Slow, Daniel Kahneman challenges the traditional economic utility model by presenting the prospect theory, where pecuniary variables are no longer the only determinants. George A. Akerlof and Richel E. Kranton support this challenge by providing two economic analysis models that include identity as an important variable. While Kahneman focuses primarily on individuals inability to make decisions based on profit determined utility values, Akerlof and Kranton emphasize that motivation associated with identity is the missing component of the traditional utility model. In order to demonstrate flaws of the traditional view, Kahneman supports three principles of prospect theory with various examples. First, by pointing out errors in Bernoulli s model and the indifferent model, Kahneman emphasizes the broad range of the reference point, that it is not only the change of wealth, but also the context and the mindset. Second, Kahneman analyzes loss aversion, one of the dominant mindsets. Third, Kahneman argue that sensitivity has great impact on decision making by providing gambling cases of rare and risky events. With the knowledge of these three principles, Kahneman further implies that people can be trained to against these intuitive system one thinking patterns. This marked the start of fatah s attacks that still go on today and according to fatah and the PLO will not stop their attacks and violence until the palestinians have their own country/home land. In 1967 Fatah becomes the most funded Palestinian organization. This has allowed them to do a number of things to improve them. For example like many terrorist groups do they can use social media and websites to acquire more members and soldiers, With this they can give their soldiers premium training, guns and bombs to attack israel and any other enemies that ... • 60. A Research Project On The Data Collection Process Manatowa Research Project Report Identify and describe key lessons learned in your data collection process The first potential participant I spoke with on the phone asked me a question, can any staff member volunteer to participate or do they have to be a licensed social worker ? A very valid question and something I had not anticipated. I did not know how to answer her at first. That fact was not part of my research design. As explained by the University of Oxford Personnel Service UAS (2015) among the standards in research is the practice code of being honest in proposing, conducting and reporting research. Academic research often has class timeline parameters which puts a strain on the academic researcher. The integrity of the researcher in academic research class may be tested by shortcomings as the result of faults in the design phase. The academic research must choose to do the right thing and act in an ethical manner when situations arise such as in the recruitment of participants and modifications during the data collection phase. Research design can eliminate potential pitfalls and challenges during research data collection and interpretation of that data. Spending more time and effort in the design phase will help to eliminate and/or reduce such ethical situations. Crotty (1998) suggested: 1.What epistemology, theory of knowledge, embedded in the theoretical perspective, informs the research (e.g., objectivism, subjectivism, etc.)? 2.What ... • 61. University Concert Essay I attended the University Singers Fall Cabaret on October 25, 2015. The concert took place in Sursa Hall at 7:30 p.m. The audience was not completely full, but there were more people than I would have anticipated for a Sunday evening concert. The audience was a pretty even mixture between community member and students of the university. Before the concert, there was hardly anything happening on stage. I assume this was because most of the performers were putting on costumes or getting make up done for the concert. The first song was And All That Jazz. And All That Jazz was written by John Kander and Fred Ebb for the musical Chicago. The song was sort of a silly song about a girl wanting to go out with a guy and after anytime she describes anything she finishes with, and all that jazz . The tempo is allegro because it seemed as if the female was excited with her plans. The dynamics of this song was mezzo forte because she was not necessarily being overly loud, but she was not being quiet either. The song was pleasant to listen to and easy to understand because the song was in English. The only complaint I have about this song is that it said, And all that jazz several times, but that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lips are Moving is a song that was originally recorded by Meghan Trainor and produced by Kevin Kadish in 2014. The song is an upbeat song that featured Olivia Mitchell as a soloist. The tempo of the song is allegro; it is a happy tempo even though the lyrics are not. The dynamics of the song is mezzo forte because it is just sung in a regular singing voice. The song was fun to listen to because it was a song I was familiar with and easy to understand the meaning behind it because the words are in English. The song made me feel happy because of the allegro tempo and it is a fun catchy song. The lyrics did not make me feel so happy because it was about the girl getting cheated on, but that doesn t stop it from being stuck in my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
