Chavez was an American union leader; born on March 31, 1927 near Yuma
(Arizona) and died on April 23, 1993 in San Luis (Arizona). Cesar Chavez was the
founder of la
Unidad de los Trabajadores Agricolas in 1964. He brought together migrant laborers,
mostly Hispanic, to fight for improved working conditions.
During World War II, Cesar Chavez served our country in the Navy. After servicing
for 2 years, he returned to Arizona to work in the field where his family and he
worked their entire life. In 1952 he started as an advisor in the Organization of
Community Services (OSC). His great organizational skills made him the director of

CSO in 1958; he resigned after four years to work on the creation of an agricultural
union to fight for labor rights of Chicano population. In 1962, Cesar founded the
National
Farm Workers Association, later become the United Farm Workersor UFW. During
all the social issues that touched the American society in 1968, Cesar Chavez won a
significant public relevance to launch a nationwide boycott against the producers of

Greek Life and its Impacts on Women Between family legacies, traditions, and an
abundance of college themed movies, books, and television shows, it would be
difficult to find a prospective college student who is not familiar with the idea of
Greek life. For the purpose of this essay, Greek life refers to the system employed by
many colleges and universities to establish and maintain fraternities and sororities
(primarily dominated by caucasian and economically advantages students). It is
important to note the existence of fraternities and organizations outside of this
stereotypical Greek realm, such as coeducational honor and service based fraternities,
though even these are not fully exempt from detrimental practices. Fraternities and
sororities are often looked down upon with a negative light for a number of reasons,
some of which include dangerous hazing habits and unsavory social scenes. While
there certainly are undeniable benefits and negatives within these systems, the
biggest effect they have is on gender. Greek life in college is unhealthy due to its
impact on post college gender expectations by promoting party culture, encouraging
misogyny through ingrained tradition, and indoctrinating women into subservience at

Introduction Stephen Thoma, W. Pitt Derryberry, and H. Michael Crowson published
an article (2013) outlining the development and testing of an intermediate concept
measure (ICM) of moral reasoning on an adolescent population, and one of the
unexpected findings was the difficulty of research participants to accurately identify
bad choices and justifications (Thoma et al., 2013). It is important to note that an
analogous pattern was found in a previous study utilizing the ICM with young adults
in their last year of dental school (Bebeau Thoma, 1999). To the author s knowledge,
a similar study has not been conducted on a younger segment of the population. The
purpose of this proposal is to assess whether children aged 9 11 also struggle when
identifying bad choices and justifications.
Literature Review
Moral Reasoning A brief overview of the history of moral psychology in the
Kohlbergian tradition is necessary to understand the significance and need for the
current proposal. Jean Piaget presented his construct of moral reasoning in his theory
of development, and he found there were two stages of moral reasoning
heterenomous and autonomous. The former is associated with Piaget s concrete
operational stage as moral reasoning is dependent upon the relational context of the
child and authority figures (parents, God, etc.) and is inductive by nature. The latter is

High School And Middle School
The junior high school and middle school is basically the same thing. Today we
still have junior high schools but the mostly named that way because of the
historically context. Looking at my notes taken from this year, middle schools span
from 6 th to 8 th grade, the schedule is flexible and block depending on the class.
Teachers have interdisciplinary teams and they work together as a grade level instead
of working on common classes they teach. Lastly in the middle school, everyone is a

Working in a group was a great way to get to know my classmates. Despite our

The style of The Shawl is a combination of short, descriptive and narrative
sentences, and haunting metaphors of ugliness. The story begins with only three
characters, Rosa who is a young Jewish mother, Rosa s baby daughter named
Magda, and Stella. Ozick uses metaphors to describe the characters in order to
make the readers feel sorry for the characters. Ozick writes, Stella was ravenous.
Her knees were tumors on sticks, her elbows chicken bones. . The author uses such
harsh description to adapt the readers attention and sorriness. The readers are told
Magda has blue eyes, and blonde hair similar to them, which is a term used to

feathers of hair nearly as yellow as the Star sewn in to Rosa s coat. This hints to
the fact that Rosa was raped by a soldier and Magda is the soldier s offspring.
Throughout the story, Ozick s intentions are to make the readers feel pity for the
three characters. They were in a place without pity, all pity was annihilated in
Rosa, she looked at Stella s bones without pity. She was sure that Stella was
waiting for Magda to die so she could put her teeth into the little thighs. Those
words show suffer, pain, and any other word relating to saddening. Lastly, Ozick s
final way of connecting with the readers happens when the baby, Magda, is killed
by a soldier. Ozick writes, And the moment Magda s feathered round head and her
pencil legs and balloonish belly and zigzag arms splashed against the fence, the
steel voices went mad in their growling, urging Rosa to run and run to the spot
where Magda had fallen from her flight against the electrified fence; but of course
Rosa did not obey them. Of course, this leaves the readers heartbroken and feels
sorrier
