Juxtaposition In A Modern Proposal
Swift when faced with a humanitarian crisis, a tyrannical English Empire, and a strong divide between
social classes, uses his pent up agitation to develop a piece of satire which both compels and shocks
those who read his work. A Modern Proposal is centered around the idea of cannibalism. In Swift s
reformation of Irish society a new division of laborers would be created labeled breeders . These
breeders would raise infants to the ripe age of one, and then sell them to the wealthy to be slaughtered,
served and possibly made into apparel. Throughout his proposal Swift uses comic juxtaposition and
grotesque elements to further convey his criticism of Ireland. By comparing the lower class breeders
and their children to animals, Swift uses comic juxtaposition to hone in on the notion that the
impoverished people in society have long been denied the humanity the wealthy pride themselves on.
No longer being seen as meaningful, important human beings, the poor are left begging for the respect
that comes with money. Pregnant woman seen as being mere vessels for produce in his imaginary
world, are compared to cows saying Men would become as fond of their wives during the time of their
pregnancy as they are now of their mares in foal, their cows in calf, their sows when they are ready to
Farrow (5). By linking together items which normally do not go together, Swift is able to divulgue
into the responsibilities and vulnerabilities associated with womanhood. Swift futher s his

Production in Nigeria has also increased in cost. This leads to the downfall of industries. The
devaluation of currency is a major plank of World Bank and IMF policies for the development of the
economies of Third World countries. Nigeria s compliance with this demand was allegedly tied to
further rescheduling of Nigeria s external debt and fresh aids. Purchasing power of citizens would
reduce with increases in price level and this would worsen the pervasiveness of poverty. Speculative
activities in the economy will increase as a result of instability. REVIEW OF RELEVANT
LITERATURE There is a vast body of empirical literature on the impacts of devaluation on output
and prices. In many of the existing studies, it has been recognized that the possible effects of
devaluation on output could be contractionary. To this extent, several channels through which
devaluation could be contractionary have been identified. First, Diaz Alejandro (1965) examined the
impacts of devaluation on some macroeconomic variables in Argentina for the period 1955 61. He
observed that devaluation was contractionary for Argentina because it induces a shift in income
distribution towards savers, which in turn depresses consumption and real absorption. He equally
observed that current account improved because of the fall in absorption relative to output. Cooper

Indie Film Research Paper
In the world of film making, female directors are rather scarce. It s easy to find a great actress, but all
too often, men fill the role of director, and women get overlooked. In the world of independent or
indie films, there are often more opportunities for women to get involved, and it just so happens that is
where we find Crystal Faith Scott. Recently, I happened upon her work, and I realized that she was
just the kind of person to not only shed light on her crowdfunded feature for which she is actively
raising support, but she was the ideal person to highlight the importance of indie films as well as
women s role in this dynamic industry.
What inspired you to get into the world of acting/entertainment?
I started acting when I was 7 years old. I was shy, so my mom put me in a local children s theater to

Kickstarter is a platform where creators can get their passion projects funded through people donating
to their campaign, and in turn, the backers receive rewards based on their donation level. The funding
is all or nothing on Kickstarter, meaning that the creator only receives the money if they reach their
funding goal IN FULL. Otherwise, they do not receive anything. I personally love giving to
Kickstarter campaigns (especially films) because I love supporting the arts, and instead of giving a
donation to a large arts organization, it just feels more special and meaningful for me to give to an
independent artist s project directly. Plus, as a backer I feel very personally involved in the project,
and it s so exciting and satisfying to follow the project after they make their goal and then watch it
become an actual film. Films are quite expensive to make, and indie filmmakers in particular can

Theme Of Politics In Animal Farm By George Orwell
Orwell was successful at fusing political purpose and artistic purpose into one whole. Throughout the
three pieces of literature Animal Farm, Why I Write , Politics and language Orwell makes it apparent
that politics plays a significant role in a great deal of his works. As he explains in the essay Why I
Write, Every line of serious work I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly,
against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism. (Houghton). This statement clearly reveals how
any serious work after 1936 has some political background within it. For Animal Farm an allegory to
the russian revolution in the main use of politics, where as Why I Write and Politics and Language
clearly illustrate his idea of how politics should be within writing.
On the surface, George Orwell s novel Animal Farm is about a group of neglected farm animals who
overthrow their owner and take control of their farm. However, under the surface the novel allegory
detailing the events on the Russian Revolution. Orwell wrote Animal Farm in response to his opinion
on the Russian Revolution. The author s use of anthropomorphism and commondiction leads us to
believe he intended the novel to be read by the everyday man or lay person. The novel is written as a
warning to readers with its central theme that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
The author uses a detached 3rd person narrative pointer view to describe the events as they unfold in
the story. While Orwell uses many stylistics devices in Animal Farm the two that impart the reader the
most while developing a message are symbolism and irony. Ultimately the tone in the narrative shift is
from one of hope to one of despair as Orwell weaves historagictove of the animal rebellion on manor
farm.
Why I write is an essay by George Orwell, as the title of the essay suggests, it is an explanatory essay
which focuses on the writer himself and his motivations for writing. Within the article it summarizes
Orwell s writing career but, also highlights some important motives that exist in almost all writers.
The author s intended audience would be other writers. It is apparent that Orwell s intended audience
is other writers because, he

together and the best way to take them. What are Nootropics? Nootropics are pharmaceutical
compounds used to enhance cognitive function and were first discovered in the 1960s. There is
extensive research behind many nootropics showing they enhance many key areas of cognitive
learning. The spectrum of nootropics is very broad so we ll only cover those with the most research

Characteristics Of Post Impressionism
Post Impressionism encompasses a wide range of distinct artistic styles that all share the common
motivation of responding to the opticality of the Impressionist movement. The stylistic variations
assembled under the general banner of Post Impressionism range from the scientifically oriented Neo
Impressionism to the lush Symbolism, but all concentrated on the subjective vision of the artist.
Symbolic and highly personal meanings were particularly important to Post Impressionists such as
Paul Gauguin and Vincent van Gogh. Rejecting interest in depicting the observed world, they instead
looked to their memories and emotions in order to connect with the viewer on a deeper level.
Structure, order, and the optical effects of color dominated the aesthetic vision of Post Impressionists
like Paul Cézanne, Georges Seurat, and Paul Signac. Rather than merely represent their surroundings,
they relied upon the interrelations of color and shape to describe the world around them. Despite the
various individualized styles, most Post Impressionists focused on abstract form and pattern in the
application of paint to the surface of the canvas. The label Post Impressionism was never used by the
Post Impressionists themselves. It was coined in 1910 by Roger Fry when he staged an exhibition in
London called Manet and the Post Impressionists (Munry, 2017). Cezanne, Gauguin and Van Gogh
were the central artists of this show since, according to Fry, they were the three great painters who had

Art and Empathy
Kenny Smith
April 20th, 2003
The role of men in society has been a vital. Men were subjected to the same inhumane and horrifying
events that happened during the Holocaust. When one thinks of a man, you think of father, solider and
other manly things. A great deal of pride comes along with being and man. Along with pride,
testosterone, intensity, and all sorts of other factors key into the characteristics of men. However, the
Holocaust completely stripped men of most of these characteristics. The Holocaust did not allow men
to be men. Holocaust art, the Tale of the Sprinter by Sudeep Pagedar, and Vladek Spiegelman in the
memoirs Maus by Art Spiegelman are examples of how men suffered during the Holocaust and the
amount of empathy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was one of the many nightmarish images of brutality in the book. The human body is stripped of
everything that makes it recognizably human, reduced to bones and fat. Even dead, the captive Jews
are not allowed the smallest dignity. In addition, Vladek shares stories about how they were treated
like animals. We lay on top of the other, like matches, like herrings. I pushed to a corner not to get
crushed ... High up I saw a few hooks to chain up maybe the animals (Spiegelman 75). Considered
racially inferior, the Jews were treated like animals. This is one of many scenes in the memoir where
Jews are held in structures or cars that were initially built for animals. Vladek has a very complex
personality because of his Holocaust experiences. Vladek Spiegelman is a disturbed, bitter old man
who is unwilling to talk about the things that made him the way he is. Through Vladek Spiegelman,
we are able to see how atrocity affected men during the Holocaust. Vladek s character traits evoke
empathy because he cannot be the man and father that he could have been because of this event. Art is
a way to express emotions and feelings. Holocaust art and literature are products of atrocities. Men in
literature and art are usually expressed as very bold figure. When you see a sculpture of a man, it is
usually a masculine figure with bold features. The Holocaust stripped men of their masculinity

My Daughters Have No Mother Summary
Recently, I read a blog in the Huffington Post written by Max Mutchnick, the co creator of Will and
Grace, entitled My Daughters Have No Mother. The title of the article immediately piqued my
curiosity. After all, how is it biologically possible to have a daughter without a mother? Sure, I have
heard of children enduring tragedies and losing a mother or even cases of mothers abandoning their
kids, but to have no mother―impossible. As I read on, I realized the point of Mr. Mutchnick s strange
blog post. To briefly summarize, he relentlessly attempts to gain the reader s sympathy as he explains
the travails of being a gay man who desires to have a child and their attempt to find a surrogate
mother. However, the blog is riddled with obvious fallacies, which include broad sweeping ... Show

heads. In other words, homosexuals are far worse off in this world than heterosexuals, implying
straight people have no worries, nor experience difficult circumstances. Not to mention the fact, that
fortune has nothing to do with Mr. Mutchnick s hardships. On the contrary, these issues are brought
about by a clear choice he made. Additionally, the writer claims his daughters

Surrealism And Surrealism
In 1925, the original surrealists forged a clear and resounding document, stating, among other things,
that the surrealist movement is a revolution, unarguably. They asserted that their movement was not
one of poetic form. Furthermore, that it was not even a literary movement. They firmly established, in
the infancy of Surrealism, that it was not an aesthetic endeavour. It was a revolution of the mind.
Surrealist actions and thoughts function in the absence of any aesthetic or moral concern. This idea
was thoroughly tested with the many events to come. It was tested when Salvador Dali went so far
with a lack of moral concern as to support Hitler himself, earning himself an excommunication, after a
characteristically dramatic trial. It was tested when Andre Breton, honorary founder of Surrealism,
stated that The purest surrealist act is walking into a crowd with a loaded gun and firing into it
randomly. This has since, regrettably, been forgotten. We have forgotten, somehow, the broken bones,
the muddied faces, the chaos, and the legitimate taboos in which Surrealism languished. We have
forgotten how, historically, we have stared in the face that which no one else dared to glance at. We
have cast aside that which hurts us, for we do not care to include it in our reality. We have also become
much more tolerant, since Breton s death in 1966, of that which is not actually surrealist. At the risk of
sounding anti progress, I say that the movement has become less pure

The Production Of Light Without Heat From A Chemical Reaction
An Introduction to Chemiluminescence
Chemiluminescence is the is the production of light without heat from a chemical reaction. In this
reaction, energy is released as electromagnetic radiation in the visible light spectrum. It does not
require the absorption of electromagnetic energy to excite molecules into a higher energy state.
Instead, the energetics of the reaction itself releases energy as light. This means that there there is an
intermediate molecule in an excited state which returns to a lower energy level, releasing its energy in
the form of a photon of light. The reaction within a glow stick is a primary example of
chemiluminescence. These reactions, which typically involve luminal, have been generally well
studied and its applications range from use in forensics for detecting traces of blood, in the
pharmaceutical industry for quality control and in clinical services. Chemiluminescence in Glow
Sticks
Since it s advent in 1965, glow sticks have been extensively used throughout society, serving a
multitude of purposes. For most people, the word glow sticks brings to mind little children frantically
waving them around on halloween, or perhaps even the idea of a jam packed neon lighted nightclub.
For major halloween buffs, myself included, the idea of glow sticks brings people back to their
childhoods, where glowsticks played a considerable role serving as a source of entertainment (and
light) during halloween and new year parties.

obedience of elders and strict subjugation of women to men, during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
Furthermore, the Marxist revolutionary government of Communist China dealt with Confucianism
negatively. In the early 20th century, both before and after the fall of the Qing dynasty, Confucianism
was harshly criticized by the New Culture Movement. (Adler 6) The assumption of this movement
was that virtually everything about China s traditional culture was holding it back from becoming a
modern nation state. In fact, Confucianism was high on the list of culprits in this blanket rejection of
traditional China. The New Culture Movement criticized Confucianism for its age and gender based
hierarchies, which had become quite rigid during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Communist thinkers
also joined this anti Confucian trend, so by the time of the Communist victory in 1949 Confucianism

Confucian rhetoric only increased. In addition to their professed opposition to social hierarchies, they
viewed Confucianism as a feudal ideology. (Adler 8) Daniel Bell s proposal is in response to Jiang

The Benefits of Performance Enhancing Drugs Among Athletes...
Since the dawn of the twenty first century, performance enhancing drugs have become a religious
practice in the lives of some sport figures. The use of these supplements have given the user an edge,
an edge to perform at maximum capability. Most major athletes all agree on the fact that the
competitive drive to win can be quite intense. Besides the satisfaction of personal accomplishment,
athletes commonly pursue high hopes of attaining a medal, a college scholarship or the once in a

When blood and muscles are full of oxygen, one s body can perform better than normal. An athlete
who uses a performance enhancing drug to get more oxygen to his or her muscles can perform for
longer periods of time at optimum level. A third reason an athlete would choose to use supplements is
to stimulate the body (Athletes Drug Use). The reasons athletes need to keep their body stimulated are
to reduce fatigue, gain assertion, and maintain aggression (Athletes Drug Use). It is really not much
different from a person drinking coffee in the morning to perk up. One final reason an athlete would
use performance enhancing drugs is to mask an injury (Athletes Drug Use). For example, if a
quarterback breaks his toe or sprains his knee during a game, there are two options: one, the
quarterback can be taken out of the game or two, the trainer can give the quarterback an injection to
take the pain away, allowing the quarterback to return to the remainder of the game. With the reasons
for taking performance enhancing drugs in mind, this essay should mention the many categories of
performance enhancing drugs available on the market today, including steroids, growth hormone
stimulants, pain killers, and diuretics. Most athletes strive for success in the sense that motivation
comes from gaining college scholarships to high paying positions on professional teams or becoming

Managing a forest with and for the people: Community forestry and environmental public

All across the United States, historical patterns of resource extraction have led to degradation and
fragmentation of forest landscapes. When a community depends on those resources, a local crisis can
emerge from this process of degradation. To reverse this scenario, community forestry became a
popular approach in the 1970s as a modern policy and practice (Baker and Kusel, 2003). This model
was based on a simple assumption: as local people already use and rely on the natural resources of
their forests, they are in the best position to conserve them. However, recent literature has show that ...

Lack Of Funding For Presidential Elections

actually happening in our country today. Among the many issues that surround the race to the office,
financing the presidential election seems to be a major topic that is always in the public eye. There are
many different views on how the election should be financed but it is hard to tell how far government
funding and donations can go before democracy is left behind.

candidates themselves. Spending on the campaign has gotten out of control within the last decade.
Millions of taxpayer dollars are being spend on mobile campaigns, advertisements, and media
exposure. This funding could easily go towards other areas of society, benefiting the very people that
the candidates wish to govern. Rather than directing negative attention, I believe that candidates
should reach out to the public to gain support. Campaigning for presidency should not be about
winning or who raises the most money. Presidency should be about protecting and caring for the
American people. The conduct of campaigns should be monitored in order to limit spending and to
prevent negative advertising towards opposite candidates.
Candidates running for office should depend less on government funding and turn towards the public
for their support. Rather then concerning ourselves with prohibiting the use of soft money we should

Orwell s Use Of The Phonetic Alphabet In The Military...
The military, as a whole, has a countless number of sayings, slogans and acronyms for every, single
aspect of military life. Consequently, it feels like learning a new language to those newly indoctrinated
members of this culture; being required to learn a new alphabet, the phonetic alphabet, reinforces this
feeling. While the mastery of this language is slow and arduous, there is a larger purpose behind it. To
protect its service members as well as its assets, the military needs every part to run smoothly and
efficiently. Accordingly, they have crafted a language, and an alphabet, after George Orwell s heart:
one that leaves nothing up to interpretation, one which is terse, and builds a clear and consistent
picture of the point being made. Admittedly, when someone in the military attempts to spell a word
using the phonetic alphabet, it goes against Orwell s second rule: Never use a long word where a short
one will do, (519). Instead of spelling K I F E R, the spelling of my name becomes, Kilo, India,
Foxtrot, Echo, Romeo; obviously, this takes longer and would not be considered efficient Orwell. ...

Notes On Loans And Loan
Loans Explained
Whether you are buying your first home or adding another investment property to your portfolio,
deciding on which loan is a decision that could cost or save tens of thousands of dollars from your
mortgage over the life of your loan.
The various loans available in the market can be broadly classified into the following categories:
Standard Variable Rate loans are the most common loans provided by lenders. As the name implies,
the interest rate charged can vary and is typically in line with the announcement of the cash rate by the
Reserve Bank of Australia every 1st Tuesday of each month. Such loans are normally provided with
most of the common features, such as offset account, extra repayment, split account and redraw ...

Look out for hefty exit fees and associated costs, and be aware that fixed rates can be less flexible in
allowing you the choice of making extra, or more frequent, repayments.
Lines of Credit are similar to using a credit card with a credit limit. That limit is determined by the
value of the properties that are used as security for the loan, as well as by the client s ability to repay
the loan. Given that it is like a credit card, borrowers can use the amount available as they wish; it is
wise that only borrowers who are disciplined spenders choose such a loan. Most investors will set up a
line of credit loan to allow them access to immediate money for any unexpected maintenance or
repairs to the property. It also allows them to use that money as a deposit for any properties that they
would like to purchase.
Introductory/Honeymoon rate loans are typically standard variable rate loans. However, the difference
is that during the honeymoon or introductory period (lasting up to three years), the interest rate
charged will be lower than the rate for standard variable rate loans. This lower rate will revert to the
standard variable rate interest once the honeymoon period is over.
Construction loans are used for the purchase of vacant land and subsequent property construction.
During the construction period, borrowers

Graeson Descriptive Writing
A cool, fall, light, Oklahoma breeze blows through the trees. The sound of rustling leaves, and the
cheerful chatter of my friends, fills my ears. My rainbow colored hoodie is wrapped around me.
People canoeing on the lake call my name, Graeson! They say, I smile and wave in their direction. I
wonder if they can see me from my spot behind the trees and poles. All of the sudden the person in
front of me in line steps up to the ladder. One of the people working at New Life Ranch tightens the

The monster stayed in my throat, but now, as I am getting buckled in and a helmet clamped on my

My fear of heights hasn t bothered me and this far in 12 years of life it really hasn t, but now it does. I

Digital Images And The Digital Image
In today s world when whole world become digitized there is need not only to store and transmit data
but security is also main concern i.e. transmission of data with high security. In earlier time there ware
attempts to hide a message in trusted media so as to deliver it across the enemy territory[1]. In the
modern time of digital communication, several methods are used for hiding information in any
medium. There are many method one of such technique is steganography[2] in which digital images
are used as a medium for hiding secret message or information in the form of various format such as
digital images, video or audio file text file. The main goal of steganography is to increase
communication security by inserting secret message into the digital image by modifying the pixels of
the image which are not very essential. Another most reliable method of information security is
cryptography The steganography is differ from cryptography in the way that cryptography main aim is
to keeping the contents of a information secret, while steganography main focuses on keeping the
existence of a information secret. The science of protecting information which is mainly in the form of
plain text, by transforming it (encrypting it) into an unreadable format, which is known as cipher text.
Cryptography is the study of changing information from its normal, comprehensible format into an
incomprehensible format, rendering it unreadable without secret knowing secret information and is

Hinduism Essay examples
Hinduism
Hinduism is the religion followed by the people of South Asia, mainly in India though. The term
HInduism actually means what the Indians do and was applied to these people by Islamic Invaders.
Hinduism is actually a mix of several differents ideals from different religions. Parts of it draw on the
Vedic religion of the Aryan tribes from the north, some from the Dravidian civilization to the south,
along with ideas from Buddhism. From the Dravidians came the beilief of intense devotion to the gods
and the rituals for fertility and other such things. It is not known yet how the Vedic religion manifested
into Hinduism. As in all civilizations of the time, the priests held high power and stature in society, but

This deity would then bring violence and destruction to the world. This ideal of women and of fertility
is almostly directly to the beiliefs of the Dravidians. There are also many, many other gods besides
these three main ones. That s one of the distinguishing factors of Hinduism, the amount and the
variety of gods that were used to explain events in life and life itself. Even with all of these gods out
there, worshipers were to devote most of their worship at one specific deity. This did not mean that the
other gods would strike back for not being worshipped, for each was worshipped by at least one
person. This sense of unity amongst the gods and the people is brought out buy certain texts, such as
the Bhagad Gita. The purpose in life was to praise your deity to the best of your ability so as to get the
god s favor. Religious duties were not only based on class, but also on gender and on age. The center
of worship for these gods was the temple, some being simple and others being extremely elegant.
Many of these temples had a beautiful statue of their deity. This statue was there for the diety to
possess so that they could be worshipped by the people even more. To worship their deity, some
would take part in puja, which was a service to the deity that involved bathing, clothing, or feeding the
statue. Some people were even blessed enought to see their god, even if just for an instance. They

Marriage s Role In The Thousand And One Nights
Marriage, compared to romance, plays a prominent role in The Thousand and One Nights. Marriage is
organized as a measure of convenience and status rather than of love in most cases. This attitude
aligns with the way women are typically treated: as prizes, not powerful, or even worthy of respect. It
was considered more important to marry for status than for love. The only exceptions to this
inclination come in stories where women are presented as more powerful. The best example is
between Shahrazad and Shahrayar. The Thousand and One Nights offer a unique perspective on the
roles of women in Muslim society. Some of the in framed stories portray women as disobedient wives,
as beautiful concubines and slaves who are always eager to please men,

Evaluation Of A Client With A Potential For Ppd
Timing is key! It is outstanding to know that PPD is definitely treatable, especially when caught early.
Two well known assessments can be used when evaluating a client with a potential for PPD; these two
tests are the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) and the Postpartum Depression Screening
Scale (PDSS). The EPDS is used as a screening assessment tool, not a diagnostic tool; It is used to
pull out women who may need follow up care. This assessment should be completed preferably twice,
but at least once. The best time is 6 to 12 weeks after birth. It is a pivotal point that the nurse explains
when utilizing this tool that it is not referring to just the current day, but to the previous seven days.

ensure all areas are covered; for the areas that are not, the nurse should encourage the family and

Financial institutions have always recognized the importance of safeguarding customer data.
However, the impact of data compromise has increased substantially as identities have migrated from
visual to digital. Scenarios like the ones mentioned above have become significant due to never before
seen levels of regulatory fines and litigation expenses.
The New Basel Capital Accord (Basel II) requires financial institutions to develop a comprehensive
loss distribution so that they can more accurately estimate their risk profile and reserve requirements.
In particular, Basel II adds operational risk to the traditional categories of credit risk and market risk
that are currently used to estimate capital requirements.
2 Addressing Operational Risk
By including operational risk in the calculation metrics for the New Capital Accord, Basel II has
recognized that credit and market risks are not the only exposures that a bank may face. The
complexity of calculating operational risk is, however, compounded by the fact that the internal loss
history of a financial institution does not adequately account for all the operational risks and exposures
faced by that institution.
To augment internal experiential data, Basel II recommends that financial institutions look to external
events and scenarios. External loss data cannot be readily used in capital calculations due to the
inherent shortcomings of the reliability of

Diffusion Investigation
Data Analysis:
With this experiment, the affect of surface area to volume ratio on the rate of diffusion is investigated.
Four agars containing phenolphthalein, an indicator that turns colorless in acid, each ranging in size
were used. In this experiment, the agar cubes represent cells and the time it took for cubes to turn
colorless shows the rate of diffusion. Next, the cubes were placed in a beaker and just enough
hydrochloric acid was added to cover them. Then, the time it took them to turn colorless was
measured. It was observed that when volume increases, so does the surface area, but more so. For
example, the volume of the smallest cube was 0.125cm3 while it s surface are was 1.5 cm2. The
difference of volumes between the smallest and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most importantly, it s very hard to give exact measurements for the agar cubes. Therefore, each group
could have had varying sizes of cubes or the size could have differed from the one we said it was. For
example, the cube with the dimension of 1cm could have been more or less than that. To improve the
accuracy, we can use an electronic balance to make sure that the cubes with the same dimensions have
the same mass to ensure that their sizes are equal. Moreover, we didn t measure the amount of
hydrochloric acid we put into the beakers within the groups as the only instruction we got was to pour
it in until the cubes are covered. Having varied amounts of hydrochloric acid became a source of error
in the experiment. Next time, we should put the same amount of hydrochloric acid into the beakers.
We can do this by using a measuring cylinder. Furthermore, not taking into account the possibility of
an outlier became a source of error in the experiment. Not taking out the outlier from the data or
repeating it for that specific one will wrongly influence the average, which in turn will influence the
standard deviation. This could lead us to think that the experiment was more or less reliable than it
actually was. For example, for the cubes with 1cm dimension, one of the values was 209 seconds
while the others were 596,790, 720,750 and 841 seconds. This suggests that an error has been made in

Characteristics Of Revolutionary In The Revolution Of The...
The American Revolution was, in fact, revolutionary. Revolutionary means to work against. So, in this
case, there were many instances which made the American Revolution revolutionary. For example,
Benjamin Franklin wrote the quote, Join or Die, in 1754. This quote was intended to, urge the Thirteen
colonies to unite behind England in its struggle against the French and Native American forces during
the French and Indian war. This means that he was allies with the British. So, him and the British were
working together to work against the French.
But, unfortunately that alliance did not last very long because in 1775 the Battle of Bunker Hill was
fought between the British and the Americans. While the British ended up being victors of the battle,
the only thing they gained was a confidence boost. Also, in 1775 76 Thomas Paine wrote Common
Sense to advocate independence from Great Britain to people in the Thirteen colonies. While you
might think the French and Indian war was fought between the French and the Indians it was actually
fought between the French and the British while the Indians were divided between the two.
During the American Revolution there were two groups of people. Loyalists and Patriots. Loyalists
were the people who stood by the British during the American Revolution. The Loyalists, wanted to
pursue peaceful forms of protest because they believed that violence would give rise to mob rule or
tyranny. They also believed that independence would mean the

Midway, the Battle That Ultimately Doomed Japan in WWII
By: John King Could a loss at Midway have cost America the Pacific, and led to WWII ending in a
different way? The Battle of Midway is know as the turning point of the war in the Pacific. It turned
the tables and put the United States into an offensive position. Midway was one, if not the, most
important battle of World War II because of the background, strategies, battle tactics, and most
importantly the outcome and effects of this battle. Yesterday, December 7th, 1941 a date which will
live in infamy the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air

The U.S. lost one aircraft carrier, the USS Lexington, and the USS Yorktown was severely damaged,
but would make it back to port for repair. These Pacific battles were what led to the Japanese Empire
trying to deliver a finishing blow to the U.S. Navy. The Japanese commander, Admiral Isoroku
Yamamoto was in command of the Japanese Pacific Fleet. The Japanese plan was very simple. First,
they would create a diversion by launching an attack on the Aleutian Islands. Then, they would send
three groups of ships to Midway. One was a group of soldiers to invade the island. The second group
was battleships, the heavy gun power. One of these happened to be the largest battleship in the world,
the Yamato. And finally, the third group contained four big aircraft carriers and their battle task force.
The carriers held a combined 248 planes. They planned to attack and destroy the U.S. base. This
attack would make the U.S. send their carriers to the island to try and save the island. They would
ambush the U.S. carriers and destroy them once they got there. To the Japanese, their plan was
unstoppable because they had three times more ships than the U.S. and the element of surprise.
Unfortunately for Japan, they made the mistake of under estimating the U.S. intelligence agency. In
Pearl Harbor, where the war started, the U.S. deciphered the code the Japanese were using to
communicate. They were able to learn very important details that would help incredibly in their

Transcendentalism In Henry David Thoreau
The Transcendentalism in Henry David Thoreau Henry David Thoreau once said, It s not what you
look at that matters, it s what you see. Transcendentalists were often less concerned with what they
saw in front of them, and more concerned on what it meant. Transcendentalism is certainly about
forgetting the literal meaning of things and taking into account the divinity of them. Thoreau s
impression of this genre shows up regularly in his works. Henry David Thoreau s independence and
time with Emerson strengthened his as a transcendentalist as shown in Walden and A Winter s Walk.
Henry David Thoreau was a major figure in the transcendentalist movement. He was born in Concord,
Massachusetts on July 12, 1817 ( Henry David Thoreau biography.co). Richard J. Schneider s article,
Thoreau s Life reveals that he went to public school in Concord, then attended Concord Academy.
Thoreau was somewhat different than other children in Concord. As a child he rarely followed the
rules and was independent and strong willed (Brozo, et al. 377). Being independent as a child shows
up very clearly in Thoreau s adult life. Later Schneider states that Thoreau went to Harvard College
and graduated in the top of his class. However, he had to graduate early because he was very ill and
not financially able to continue. Thoreau worked at many places throughout the years. He taught at a
school, worked at his family s pencil factory, and opened a school with his brother (Schneider). He
even worked as a land surveyor (Witherell and Dubrulle). Thoreau was friends with a great
transcendentalist writer, Ralph Waldo Emerson. Thoreau spent two years living at a place called
Walden Pond, which was property of Emerson ( Henry David Thoreau biography.com). As stated in
the biography, Henry David Thoreau, He experimented with working as little as possible rather than
engage in the pattern of six days on with one day off. This may seem like a lazy way of living, but to
Thoreau it was something more. He felt that this new approach helped him avoid the misery he saw
around him ( Henry David ). The hardship that Thoreau was feeling from the world was the public.
The public admired technology and did not appreciate nature like he did. Henry

The Importance Of The Federal Budget
Government budgets no matter on the federal or local level are important because they give insight
into what the government s priorities are for that fiscal year. The current budget in Georgia for the
2017 fiscal year is 43.7 billion dollars. This number is broken down in three areas. The state s budget
is 23.7 billion. The federal budget for the year is 13.7 billion and the other funds they 6.3 billion. The
Great Recession caused a dramatic decrease in state revenues from the 2008 to 2010 fiscal years,
falling by $3.6 billion, or 19.2 percent. Revenues improved at a moderate pace since the 2011 fiscal
year and have picked up since 2014, yet inflation adjusted, per capita state revenue in 2017 is still

Program budgeting is a system of managing government expenditures by attempting to compare the
program proposals of all government agencies authorized to achieve similar objectives (Hyman,
2014). Program budgeting allows decisions to be made regarding which programs will be offered, to
meet the missions, the lowest cost. Incremental budgeting is less drastic, the current fiscal year serves
as the basis for small incremental changes in the next fiscal year. Incremental budgeting is a pragmatic
approach that seeks to minimize the resources that go into the budgetary process each year and make it
easier for governments to enact budgets (Hymn 2014). Cost benefit analysis estimates and totals up

Negative market inefficiencies will cause the people demand government policies and or procedures

Victor Frankl Man s Search For Meaning
Viktor Frankl is a philosopher, but more importantly an incredible individual who survived the
Holocaust under the Nazi regime. In his book Man s Search For Meaning, he detailed life in the Nazi
death camps and elaborated on people s states of mind while inside the camp. He made exclaimed that
there were three different ways to discover the unique meaning of one s life: achieving or
accomplishing something, experiencing a virtue like love, and surviving and/or overcoming suffering.
The search for meaning that is discovered through these three modes is vital to an individual s life.
Doing a deed is the first step in identifying the distinct meaning of one s life according to Frankl. In
more concrete words, one must accomplish or achieve something in order to find meaning in his or
her life. An example of this is when a student works tirelessly and diligently in a class and
subsequently earn an A. That feeling of satisfaction allows the student to potentially realize how much
they enjoy that certain subject. After enjoying the subject, the student could even realize that that
subject is the the subject they want to pursue for the rest of their life. This example shows that the
search for meaning through doing a deed is crucial to an individual s life and can even determine their

This means that one must experience a value like the virtue of love in order to truly grasp the
significance of life. Frankl says, Love is the only way to grasp another human being in the innermost
core of his personality (111). This quote shows that when a person experiences love, he or she can
fully comprehend their partner. It also implies that in turn this full comprehension allows them to truly
know themself. Through the joy of love, one recognizes what life is about family and sacrifice. Love

The devaluation of currency is a major plank of World Bank and IMF policies for the development of the economies of Third World countries. It s easy to find a great actress, but all too often, men fill the role of director, and women get overlooked. In the world of independent or indie films, there are often more opportunities for women to get involved, and it just so happens that is where we find Crystal Faith Scott. Recently, I happened upon her work, and I realized that she was just the kind of person to not only shed light on her crowdfunded feature for which she is actively raising support, but she was the ideal person to highlight the importance of indie films as well as women s role in this dynamic industry. Throughout the three pieces of literature Animal Farm, Why I Write , Politics and language Orwell makes it apparent that politics plays a significant role in a great deal of his works. As he explains in the essay Why I Write, Every line of serious work I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism. (Houghton). This statement clearly reveals how any serious work after 1936 has some political background within it. For Animal Farm an allegory to the russian revolution in the main use of politics, where as Why I Write and Politics and Language clearly illustrate his idea of how politics should be within writing. On the surface, George Orwell s novel Animal Farm is about a group of neglected farm animals who overthrow their owner and take control of their farm. However, under the surface the novel allegory detailing the events on the Russian Revolution. Orwell wrote Animal Farm in response to his opinion on the Russian Revolution. The author s use of anthropomorphism and commondiction leads us to believe he intended the novel to be read by the everyday man or lay person. The novel is written as a warning to readers with its central theme that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. The author uses a detached 3rd person narrative pointer view to describe the events as they unfold in the story. While Orwell uses many stylistics devices in Animal Farm the two that impart the reader the most while developing a message are symbolism and irony. Ultimately the tone in the narrative shift is from one of hope to one of despair as Orwell weaves historagictove of the animal rebellion on manor farm. • 8. Characteristics Of Post Impressionism Post Impressionism encompasses a wide range of distinct artistic styles that all share the common motivation of responding to the opticality of the Impressionist movement. The stylistic variations assembled under the general banner of Post Impressionism range from the scientifically oriented Neo Impressionism to the lush Symbolism, but all concentrated on the subjective vision of the artist. Symbolic and highly personal meanings were particularly important to Post Impressionists such as Paul Gauguin and Vincent van Gogh. Rejecting interest in depicting the observed world, they instead looked to their memories and emotions in order to connect with the viewer on a deeper level. Structure, order, and the optical effects of color dominated the aesthetic vision of Post Impressionists like Paul Cézanne, Georges Seurat, and Paul Signac. Rather than merely represent their surroundings, they relied upon the interrelations of color and shape to describe the world around them. Despite the various individualized styles, most Post Impressionists focused on abstract form and pattern in the application of paint to the surface of the canvas. The label Post Impressionism was never used by the Post Impressionists themselves. It was coined in 1910 by Roger Fry when he staged an exhibition in London called Manet and the Post Impressionists (Munry, 2017). • 11. Surrealism And Surrealism In 1925, the original surrealists forged a clear and resounding document, stating, among other things, that the surrealist movement is a revolution, unarguably. They asserted that their movement was not one of poetic form. Furthermore, that it was not even a literary movement. They firmly established, in the infancy of Surrealism, that it was not an aesthetic endeavour. It was a revolution of the mind. Surrealist actions and thoughts function in the absence of any aesthetic or moral concern. This idea was thoroughly tested with the many events to come. It was tested when Salvador Dali went so far with a lack of moral concern as to support Hitler himself, earning himself an excommunication, after a characteristically dramatic trial. It was tested when Andre Breton, honorary founder of Surrealism, stated that The purest surrealist act is walking into a crowd with a loaded gun and firing into it randomly. This has since, regrettably, been forgotten. We have forgotten, somehow, the broken bones, the muddied faces, the chaos, and the legitimate taboos in which Surrealism languished. We have forgotten how, historically, we have stared in the face that which no one else dared to glance at. We have cast aside that which hurts us, for we do not care to include it in our reality. We have also become much more tolerant, since Breton s death in 1966, of that which is not actually surrealist. At the risk of sounding anti progress, I say that the movement has become less pure ... In this reaction, energy is released as electromagnetic radiation in the visible light spectrum. It does not require the absorption of electromagnetic energy to excite molecules into a higher energy state. Instead, the energetics of the reaction itself releases energy as light. Consequently, it feels like learning a new language to those newly indoctrinated members of this culture; being required to learn a new alphabet, the phonetic alphabet, reinforces this feeling. While the mastery of this language is slow and arduous, there is a larger purpose behind it. To protect its service members as well as its assets, the military needs every part to run smoothly and efficiently. Accordingly, they have crafted a language, and an alphabet, after George Orwell s heart: one that leaves nothing up to interpretation, one which is terse, and builds a clear and consistent picture of the point being made. Admittedly, when someone in the military attempts to spell a word using the phonetic alphabet, it goes against Orwell s second rule: Never use a long word where a short one will do, (519). Given that it is like a credit card, borrowers can use the amount available as they wish; it is wise that only borrowers who are disciplined spenders choose such a loan. Marriage is organized as a measure of convenience and status rather than of love in most cases. This attitude aligns with the way women are typically treated: as prizes, not powerful, or even worthy of respect. It was considered more important to marry for status than for love. The only exceptions to this inclination come in stories where women are presented as more powerful. The best example is between Shahrazad and Shahrayar. The Thousand and One Nights offer a unique perspective on the roles of women in Muslim society. Two well known assessments can be used when evaluating a client with a potential for PPD; these two tests are the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) and the Postpartum Depression Screening Scale (PDSS). The EPDS is used as a screening assessment tool, not a diagnostic tool; It is used to pull out women who may need follow up care. This assessment should be completed preferably twice, but at least once. The best time is 6 to 12 weeks after birth. With good observation, the nurse has the opportunity to recognize difficulties the new mother may be experiencing (Cavalcanti, Marques, Guimaraes, de Oliveira Mangueira, da Silva Frazao, Perrilli, 2014) What Should be Done Next A way to significantly decrease issues from PPD is for the nurse to make weekly phone calls or postpartum home visits; this could potentially save the life of the newborn or the mother herself (Lowdermilk, 2016). The nurse should also work closely with the family to ensure all areas are covered; for the areas that are not, the nurse should encourage the family and friends of the mother to help out until she has gotten through this tough time. However, the impact of data compromise has increased substantially as identities have migrated from visual to digital. Scenarios like the ones mentioned above have become significant due to never before seen levels of regulatory fines and litigation expenses. The New Basel Capital Accord (Basel II) requires financial institutions to develop a comprehensive loss distribution so that they can more accurately estimate their risk profile and reserve requirements. In particular, Basel II adds operational risk to the traditional categories of credit risk and market risk that are currently used to estimate capital requirements. 2 Addressing Operational Risk By including operational risk in the calculation metrics for the New Capital Accord, Basel II has recognized that credit and market risks are not the only exposures that a bank may face. The complexity of calculating operational risk is, however, compounded by the fact that the internal loss history of a financial institution does not adequately account for all the operational risks and exposures faced by that institution. To augment internal experiential data, Basel II recommends that financial institutions look to external events and scenarios. External loss data cannot be readily used in capital calculations due to the inherent shortcomings of the reliability of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Four agars containing phenolphthalein, an indicator that turns colorless in acid, each ranging in size were used. In this experiment, the agar cubes represent cells and the time it took for cubes to turn colorless shows the rate of diffusion. Next, the cubes were placed in a beaker and just enough hydrochloric acid was added to cover them. Then, the time it took them to turn colorless was measured. It was observed that when volume increases, so does the surface area, but more so. For example, the volume of the smallest cube was 0.125cm3 while it s surface are was 1.5 cm2. Therefore, each group could have had varying sizes of cubes or the size could have differed from the one we said it was. For example, the cube with the dimension of 1cm could have been more or less than that. To improve the accuracy, we can use an electronic balance to make sure that the cubes with the same dimensions have the same mass to ensure that their sizes are equal. Moreover, we didn t measure the amount of hydrochloric acid we put into the beakers within the groups as the only instruction we got was to pour it in until the cubes are covered. Having varied amounts of hydrochloric acid became a source of error in the experiment. Next time, we should put the same amount of hydrochloric acid into the beakers. We can do this by using a measuring cylinder. Furthermore, not taking into account the possibility of an outlier became a source of error in the experiment. Not taking out the outlier from the data or repeating it for that specific one will wrongly influence the average, which in turn will influence the standard deviation. This could lead us to think that the experiment was more or less reliable than it actually was. For example, for the cubes with 1cm dimension, one of the values was 209 seconds while the others were 596,790, 720,750 and 841 seconds. This suggests that an error has been made in that ... • 31. Characteristics Of Revolutionary In The Revolution Of The... The American Revolution was, in fact, revolutionary. Revolutionary means to work against. So, in this case, there were many instances which made the American Revolution revolutionary. For example, Benjamin Franklin wrote the quote, Join or Die, in 1754. This quote was intended to, urge the Thirteen colonies to unite behind England in its struggle against the French and Native American forces during the French and Indian war. This means that he was allies with the British. So, him and the British were working together to work against the French. But, unfortunately that alliance did not last very long because in 1775 the Battle of Bunker Hill was fought between the British and the Americans. While the British ended up being victors of the battle, the only thing they gained was a confidence boost. Also, in 1775 76 Thomas Paine wrote Common Sense to advocate independence from Great Britain to people in the Thirteen colonies. While you might think the French and Indian war was fought between the French and the Indians it was actually fought between the French and the British while the Indians were divided between the two. During the American Revolution there were two groups of people. Loyalists and Patriots. Loyalists were the people who stood by the British during the American Revolution. The Loyalists, wanted to pursue peaceful forms of protest because they believed that violence would give rise to mob rule or tyranny. They also believed that independence would mean the ... The U.S. lost one aircraft carrier, the USS Lexington, and the USS Yorktown was severely damaged, but would make it back to port for repair. These Pacific battles were what led to the Japanese Empire trying to deliver a finishing blow to the U.S. Navy. The Japanese commander, Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto was in command of the Japanese Pacific Fleet. The Japanese plan was very simple. First, they would create a diversion by launching an attack on the Aleutian Islands. Then, they would send three groups of ships to Midway. One was a group of soldiers to invade the island. The second group was battleships, the heavy gun power. One of these happened to be the largest battleship in the world, the Yamato. And finally, the third group contained four big aircraft carriers and their battle task force. The carriers held a combined 248 planes. They planned to attack and destroy the U.S. base. This attack would make the U.S. send their carriers to the island to try and save the island. They would ambush the U.S. carriers and destroy them once they got there. To the Japanese, their plan was unstoppable because they had three times more ships than the U.S. and the element of surprise. Unfortunately for Japan, they made the mistake of under estimating the U.S. intelligence agency. • 33. Transcendentalism In Henry David Thoreau The Transcendentalism in Henry David Thoreau Henry David Thoreau once said, It s not what you look at that matters, it s what you see. Transcendentalists were often less concerned with what they saw in front of them, and more concerned on what it meant. Transcendentalism is certainly about forgetting the literal meaning of things and taking into account the divinity of them. Thoreau s impression of this genre shows up regularly in his works. Henry David Thoreau s independence and time with Emerson strengthened his as a transcendentalist as shown in Walden and A Winter s Walk. Henry David Thoreau was a major figure in the transcendentalist movement. He was born in Concord, Massachusetts on July 12, 1817 ( Henry David Thoreau biography.co). Richard J. Schneider s article, Thoreau s Life reveals that he went to public school in Concord, then attended Concord Academy. Thoreau was somewhat different than other children in Concord. As a child he rarely followed the rules and was independent and strong willed (Brozo, et al. 377). Being independent as a child shows up very clearly in Thoreau s adult life. Later Schneider states that Thoreau went to Harvard College and graduated in the top of his class. However, he had to graduate early because he was very ill and not financially able to continue. Thoreau worked at many places throughout the years. He taught at a school, worked at his family s pencil factory, and opened a school with his brother (Schneider). He even worked as a land surveyor (Witherell and Dubrulle). Thoreau was friends with a great transcendentalist writer, Ralph Waldo Emerson. Thoreau spent two years living at a place called Walden Pond, which was property of Emerson ( Henry David Thoreau biography.com). As stated in the biography, Henry David Thoreau, He experimented with working as little as possible rather than engage in the pattern of six days on with one day off. This may seem like a lazy way of living, but to Thoreau it was something more. He felt that this new approach helped him avoid the misery he saw around him ( Henry David ). The hardship that Thoreau was feeling from the world was the public. The public admired technology and did not appreciate nature like he did. Henry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In his book Man s Search For Meaning, he detailed life in the Nazi death camps and elaborated on people s states of mind while inside the camp. He made exclaimed that there were three different ways to discover the unique meaning of one s life: achieving or accomplishing something, experiencing a virtue like love, and surviving and/or overcoming suffering. The search for meaning that is discovered through these three modes is vital to an individual s life. Doing a deed is the first step in identifying the distinct meaning of one s life according to Frankl. In more concrete words, one must accomplish or achieve something in order to find meaning in his or her life. An example of this is when a student works tirelessly and diligently in a class and subsequently earn an A. That feeling of satisfaction allows the student to potentially realize how much they enjoy that certain subject.
