2. Symbolism in Animal Farm
Symbolism in Animal Farm Animal Farm is almost a direct parallel to Russia during the time of World
War I through World War II. The characters all have real life counterparts that are easily seen. The
events are also all real and conveyed in the novel in an easily understood way. The novel creates a new
way to look at the events that transpired during this time period and allows people to really understand
what happened. In Animal Farm, George Orwell employs many symbols to convey the parallelism
between the novel and World War I and World War II in Russia. The characters in Orwell s Animal
Farm represent real people that played major roles in World War I. Farmer Jones is the owner of the
farm before the animal uprising. He represents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

signify the Moscow purge trials of the 1930 s. Napoleon and his crew bring in animals one by one and
interrogate them about whether they are helping Snowball come into the farm at night and tear down
the windmill. All those who are found guilty are murdered. The windmill construction represents
Stalin s five year plans for industrialization. The windmill construction is constantly delayed and
extended just like Stalin s five year plans. The plot of Animal Farm is made of many events. There is
the initial rebellion of the animals against Farmer Jones. This rebellion begins the rest of the story and
struggles that come along. The animals are left having to figure out how to run the farm themselves
while also keeping law and order. The pigs, Napoleon and Snowball, step up as leaders and create the
Seven Commandments which start out as: 1. Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy. 2. Whatever
goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend. 3. No animal shall wear clothes. 4. No animal shall
sleep in a bed. 5. No animal shall drink alcohol. 6. No animal shall kill any other animal. 7. All
animals are equal (Orwell 24). Snowball s approach to freedom was an idea of complete equality; all
the animals worked for their share of the food. Napoleon

5. Music As A Culture Of Major Label Bands On Their Stations...
Nowadays radio stations and televisions are showing only mainstream, major label bands on their
stations and channels. What people mostly do not know is there is another world of music out there for
their listening: indie music. The reason people do not know about indie music is that these stations and
channels will not make as much money from these smaller record labels as they would from the major
labels that are Sony BMG, Universal Music Group, and Warner Music Group. Indie music is a co
culture of major label music but in its own right is a culture by itself on its own. To determine the
aspects and norms of the indie music culture you have to go back to the beginning or the failed
revolution as phrased by Jon Fine in the title of his book Your Band Sucks: What I Saw at Indie Rock
s Failed Revolution (But Can No Longer Hear) (Fine 2015). According to Cohen (2015), unlike other
forms of music genre or categories, indie found its beginnings in college towns or middle class
working cities. She states Athens, Georgia, Olympia, Washington, and her hometown of Louisville,
Kentucky were key cities that upstarted the revolution in the 80 s. Helping the cause was the radio
stations in these cities and towns because they were sympathetic, run by women, and had a strong
interest in the culture of art (Cohen 2015). During the 1980 s people had a Do It Yourself mentality.

6. The Development Of Decision Making
The Development of Decision Making in Nursing Nursing is a profession that has traditionally
attracted individuals who have a desire to help others and have an interest in the health sciences
(Ruesink, 2012). In the complex world of health care, good intentions only go so far in terms of client
safety, quality of care, and achieving the best possible outcomes, and that is why critical thinking,
decision making, and evidence based practice are crucial to the nursing profession when acting on the
behalf of our clients (Fero, Witsberger, Wesmiller, Zullo, Hoffman, 2009; Ruesink, 2012; Thompson,
Aitken, Doran, Dowding, 2013). In this paper I will discuss and explore three decision making models
that support nursing decision making, how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC), defines Clinical decision making as:
A complex and dynamic process, occurring within a larger context and drawing from various
dimensions of knowledge, in which nurses collect and organize information in order to form
conclusions and choose actions, with the intent of creating the best outcomes for clients (2014, slide
19). The nursing profession demands a high standard of quality and safety, compelling nurses to act
professionally, be accountable for their own actions, and embrace their Professional Standards
(CRNBC, 2013). The CRNBC Professional Standards requires nurses to know where to access
information to support their knowledge to deliver evidence based, competent nursing care, as well as
use decision making tools to guide their assessments, diagnoses, and treatments (2013). For nurses to
make clinical decisions that enhance a client s health, promote realistic solutions, and reduce potential
risks, decision making and critical thinking must happen in sync (Fero et al., 2009; Standing, 2005).
To support critical thinking in nursing practice, and help novice nurses compensate for the lack of
clinical experience, decision making models have been constructed to help navigate the multi
dimensional complexities of the

7. Nature And Nurture In Lord Of The Flies
A feral child (also, colloquially, wild child) is a human child who has lived isolated from human
contact from a very young age, and has no (or little) experience of human care. It is said that feral
children are the real life experiment that we cannot ethically carry out. They question what the
defining factors in human nature are and furthermore how much society impacts on our personalities.
The texts I have chosen are Romulus and Remus (Roman myth), The Girl with no Name by Lynne
Barret Lee, The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling and Lord of the flies by William Golding. All four
texts propose that the experiences we have as a child are the most significant ones in making us who
we are. Most texts discuss the idea of Nature Versus Nurture Nature and nurture relates to the inherent
qualities (nature) as opposed to personal experiences (nurture). In the 1954 classic Lord of the Flies,
Golding slowly shapes the boys and leads the reader from a group of civilized young boys into true
savages. Golding uses a metaphor to compare [Jack s] laughter to the bloodthirsty snarling of an
animal. This demonstrates to the reader Jack s descent into barbarism and we question whether he is
more human or wild animal. The text is written in an omniscient third person so it is easy to see the
boy s predicament, What are we? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Carpal Tunnel

Emily Erwin
1/28/2015
Anatomy Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common condition that affects the hand and wrist. It happens
when too much pressure is put on the median nerve. The median nerve runs through a structure at the
wrist called the carpal tunnel, which is where the syndrome gets its name. Sometimes the carpal tunnel
(which is made up of the carpal bones and the transverse ligament) will narrow, due to swelling, and
that is how the median nerve gets squeezed. This condition is usually progressive (it will continue to
get worse over time) and the symptoms involve numbness and pain in the wrist and hand. Sometimes
the pain will also spread up into the arm (Sartore).

9. Essay On Postoperative Pain
Discussion
Postoperative pain is the most undesired sequence of surgery, and if not treated properly, can lead to
increased hospital stay and delayed return to daily activities (10).
The management of postoperative pain has received much interest nowadays. The intensity of
postoperative pain depends on many factors such as type and duration of the surgery, type of
anesthesia and analgesia used, and the patient s mental and emotional status (11).
Local wound infiltration is an attractive method since it is efficacious and adverse actions are minimal
(12). However, this route is limited by the fact that duration of analgesia is limited to the duration of
action of local anesthetic. Efforts are being made to increase the duration of action of ... Show more

and septorhinoplasty with tramadol 0.5 mg/kg provided better analgesia and a statistically significant
decrease in postoperative fentanyl demand and consumption than did levobupivacaine or lidocaine
local infiltration. In addition, Ozyilmaz K etal 2012(15) assessed wound infiltration with saline,
levobupivacaine, tramadol or tramadol plus levobupivacaine in lumbar disc surgeries. They observed
that the time to first analgesia was earliest in saline group, followed by levobupivacaine group then
tramadol group. None of the patients in tramadol plus levobupivacaine group required postoperative
analgesic supplementation, and the visual analog scale scores were 3 at all measurement times and this
may be attributed to high levobupivacaine dose (100 mg) which is double of our study.

tournament. Still they re worth mentioning considering they re riding a four game win streak that

He s also been really cold lately. In fact, Young had missed 21 straight three s before hitting one

lost 8 of their last 10 and look bad. Oklahoma was a projected one seed at a certain point but now it
looks like they could end up being between an 8 and 10. Ohio State (Falling) Ohio State has lost a
couple straight games and have looked sloppy. Their star player Keita Bates Diop has been shutdown
and they ve struggled to slow down opposing teams. Chris Holtmann is a very good coach and should
be able to get the bucks to bounce back, but these losses have probably dropped the Buckeyes to a 5
seed. Duke (Rising) Duke beat Virginia Tech easily and beat a top team in Clemson this week. They
did all of this without Marvin Bagley. Duke had really struggled lately but they ve looked good
without Bagley and Grayson Allen has really stepped up. The real question now is how will Duke get
Bagley involved again without hurting the positive chemistry the team is currently having. Right now
Duke has probably solidified themselves towards the top of the 2 line for the

Throughout a lifetime, only so much conflict could be bore upon oneself. There is always a breaking
point, the important aspect is the timing. From my story Wuthering Heights to Beowulf and
Canterbury Tales there are conflicts that have been exaggerated and then blown to preposterous
proportions. In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight there are conflicts between man and man just like
there are in the world we live in today. Conflicts in books or stories could show what is going on in
the real world or what an author is thinking and making up.In Wuthering Heights there could be two

Heathcliff is the only character who is considered a hero at all, but only to the audience in a romantic

Isabella Linton, the selfish snotty sister of Edgar, and she continuously goes back to Heathcliff. To the
audience Heathcliff is the young man who everyone wants to see as the romantic hero, allowing them
to foresee the pain and violence he causes to Isabella. Only with the deception of Heathcliff Wuthering
Heights has a hero, there are no other ways to try and make a hero. Even with one hero the entire story
seemed to be wrapped around only three people and only one love. The one love blossomed upon the
arrival of Heathcliff into the home of the Earnshaws. Heathcliff was brought into the home by Mr.
Earnshaw, who in turn sparked the love of the young children. Upon the death of Mr. Earnshaw,
Hindley Earnshaw, the son of Mr. Earnshaw and brother of Catherine, treated Heathcliff more like a
servant than a equal. The sparks behind the madness of Hindley was the way Mr. Earnshaw began to
adore Heathcliff over Hindley, which made Hindley jealous ( Hindley Earnshaw ). During all of the
past actions, Catherine and Heathcliff were obliviant due to the fun they had together at young ages,
which began the love they would soon share. When Catherine and Heathcliff were young they did not

Minorities within Minorities in Song of Solomon
In a study about minorities, the groups that are differing from the dominant culture are seen as
homogeneous. But, if we look deeper into the groups, we can see that there are distinctions among the
minorities concerning lifestyle and social status. In Toni Morrison s Song of Solomon the author
provides examples in the background of the story that shows people with differential identities of the
general identity of the minority group.

It is not for the sake of his family or to have fun, but to make everybody see his car. These rides were
a way to satisfy himself that he was indeed a successful man (31). It is impressive how Morrison
reflects Macon s desires in life with the route of the Sunday rides: ...through the rough part of town,
over the bypass downtown, and headed for the wealthy white neighborhoods (32).
The difference between Milkman and his father is that he was born rich and does not have the
ambitions of his father. But, because of the way he was raised, he cannot prevent himself from acting
different from the African American society. In fact, we see that he has only Guitar as a friend. He
likes to spend time with women in parties. The result of his wealthy life and the fact that he was raised
in a city shows us his distinction from the society when he arrives in Shalimar.
When Milkman talks with the shopkeeper Mr. Solomon, he grows up the anticipation of the people
around him. The reasons why they are offended by Milkman is clearly stated in the following passage:
They looked with hatred at the city Negro who could buy a car as if it were a bottle of whiskey
because the one he had was broken. And what s more, who had said so in front of them. He hadn t
bothered to say his name, nor ask theirs, had called them them, and would certainly despise their days,

Working as a team pays off handsomely for him. As they say, Two heads are better than one. Each

Young workers may have different work environment values than more established workers. The
distinction in values isn t really the reason for employee dissonance ,but the inability to acknowledge
the difference is. At the point when representatives neglect to acknowledge the differences, co workers
may offend each other s characters. At the point when insults happen, the contention escalates until the
point that the correct arrangement is offered and acknowledged.
Competition
Unhealthy work environment and rivalry is a reason for worker strife. Rivalry that isn t appropriately
overseen can bring about representatives disrupting or offending each other, which makes an
antagonistic workplace. Undesirable work environment rivalry debilitates teamwork and promotes
working independently.
Therefore, its natural to have such differences and conflicts of opinion at a work place but its all about
bridging the generational gap and finding a common interest and working things out.

War with Prussia and Austria began in September of 1792 and many counterrevolutionary revolts

the republican government performed many executions using the guillotine. Two areas of the highest
resistance to the revolution were the Vendée region and Lyons (Doc. C). Many people resisted the
military draft that was enforced in August 1793 and the laws that tried to abolish Christianity. Between
80,0000 and 500,000 people on both sides died in the Vendée, and 1,600 homes and twelve people

16. Camera Angles In The Truman Show
Throughout the film The Truman Show, the director, Peter Weir, develops and communicates a strong
message that it s natural for viewers to be persuaded into believing things in media are realistic,
however viewers should more often critically analyze the world around them to preserve accuracy of
knowledge and content. This is due to the fact that the overarching power of media tries to manipulate
peoples opinions and emotions. First off, Camera angles are an extremely significant part of how a
character or scene is perceived. Media has the power to use camera angles to decide how we view
conflict in the movie. In the last few minutes of the film when Kristoff is trying to stop Truman at sea,
the true power of the media is shown as they use camera angles to show the authority in the situation.

media s powerful control over him and capability to hide aspects of his life. Not just in The Truman
Show, but in reality, although we may think something is real it is good to question and rethink
judgements. For Truman, after getting the jest of his situation he seemed to be more content with his
life and realizes his true capability while seeing through the hoax of the media. This part of the movie
is a true turning point as it shows that media can be very persuasive over Truman, but it is his critical
judgement of situations involving media that can lead to the betterment of his life. Not only is this
theme and the power of media relevant in the film, but it can be taken into our lives by questioning the

School shootings happen all too often. There were 16 school shootings in the first almost 6 months of

One solution is to let teachers wear guns. In 32 out of 50 states it is allowed to as long as the school
administration allows it. Theoretically teachers would have to run through a training before being
allowed to wear guns in the classroom. Another solution can be to build standardized classrooms with
two doors. This makes an escape in an emergency situation much easier. The probably most effective
way of preventing school shootings and shootings in general is to repeal and overwrite the Second
Amendment. The second Amendment says that everyone in the United States has the right to keep and

Hi Shoaib,
Well written paper on beta blockers in controlling hypertension. In my experience, I had seen more
than 80% of patients are prescribed with antihypertensive drugs in their medical chart. A beta blocker
is one of the most common drugs in a geriatric setting especially atenolol. Beta blockers are the
standard of therapy for many cardiovascular conditions and it is the main line of treatment in
decreasing risk of stroke. According to Ladage, Schwinger, and Brixius (2013) beta blocker was more
effective in decreasing mortality and morbidity rate in acute coronary syndrome patients. Atenolol is a
water soluble and had longer half lives with non metabolized actions and excreted via the kidneys
(Ladage et al., 2013). The exercise capacity increases in patients who are on beta blockers, like
bisoprolol, nebivolol, carvedilol (Ladage et al., 2013). A recent meta analysis study showed patients
who are untreated with hypertension, they are at risk of developing chronic kidney diseases,
cardiovascular complications, and cerebrovascular complications (Butt Harvey, 2015). In one study,
mainly geriatric population who are taking atenolol had shown greater mortality rate and increase

19. The Model Minority Myth And Stereotypes
According to our textbook, clusters of beliefs, values and opinions form an individual s attitude.
Throughout our lifetime, these attitudes manifest in different intensities and form biases, stereotypes,
prejudices and bigotries. Biases and stereotypes can be both negative and positive, but stereotypes are
only formed against people; biases are formed against people, places and things. In contrast,
prejudices and bigotries only represent negative attitudes and like the stereotypes they are only formed
against people. Even though the word positive sounds like a good thing, positive stereotypes have the
opposite effect on the victim. It can sabotage the process of forming a realistic and accurate perception
(Koppelman) and are often used as a distraction to shield acts of discrimination experienced by the
victim. The Model Minority Myth is an example of a positive stereotype because it diverts attention
away from serious social and economic problems that affect many segments of the Asian American
population, detracts from both the subtle and overt racial discrimination encountered by Asian
American, places undue pressure on young Asian Americans to succeed ... Show more content on

J.S. Mill s and Morality According to John Stuart Mill, utilitarianism is the concept in which actions
are right in proportion as they tend to promote happiness. He argues that happiness should be
distinguished between high and low pleasures. Hence, pleasures that engage the higher faculties of the
human body are seen as more satisfying than the baser pleasures in life, such as watching movies with
friends. Mill follows by arguing that utilitarianism, in the end, can be seen as morally binding. This is
true because if utilitarianism were to be adopted as an ethical stance, people would naturally embody
the standards of utility and happiness as if they were second nature or law. Thus, Mill s links

In today s current fast paced and demanding field of heath care, medication administration has become
complex and time consuming task. Approximately one third of the nurses time is used in medication
administration. There is much potential for error because of the complexity of the medication
administration process. Since nurses are the last ones to actually administer the medication to the
patient therefore they become responsible for medication administration errors (MAE). Reasons for
MAE may include individual factors, organizational factors or system factors. This paper will discuss

Those nurses may not have acquired the skills necessary to anticipate the needs of the team members.
Moreover, they may not have learned how to cooperate, communicate, and integrate care. And, they
fail to evaluate and adjust to their actions and are not able to give and receive feedback. They do not
apply their knowledge and critical thinking to understand the current situation and how to act upon it.
Some of the other factors that also contribute are lack of awareness of errors, lack of willingness to
report errors, faulty memory, poor communication skills, or lack of patient knowledge, patient
diagnosis and the names, purposes, and correct administration of the medication (Carlton Blegen,
2006). In the case scenario, the nurse did not apply her knowledge to check the correct adult dosage of
methadone. Methadone is a narcotic pain reliever, similar to morphine (Hodgson, 2011). When
administering narcotics, it is required to have someone co sign the MAR sheet to double check with
you (by using the five rights). The nurse was not able to use her critical thinking when she
administered methadone. If she was a trained nurse, she would have realized it right away that there is
something wrong with the dosage amount. There is a big difference between milliliter and milligram.

23. Child Poverty And Home Visiting Programs
Background on Child Poverty and Home Visiting Programs
Children born into poverty are more likely to have social, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral
problems. In addition, children in poverty are more likely to have physical health problems, mental
health problems, and mothers receive less prenatal care. For instance, a child born in poverty is more
likely to have a lower birth weight than his or her counterparts. Low birth rate is a contributing factor
in infant mortality within the first year of the child s life. Additionally, children born in poverty have
lower IQ test scores and have less school achievements when compared to their counterparts. Because
poverty impacts cognitive development more than physical, it is likely, that poverty will persist
through subsequent generations. Further, nutrition, or the lack of, is one factor that contributes to the
development of a child. One study suggests that children in poverty are twenty two times more likely
to suffer from maltreatment than those children not in poverty. The poverty rate in comparison state is
twenty two percent, which is the second highest in the country and equal to the national rate of
children living in poverty. Children born into poverty, on average, live in poverty until he or she is
eight years old. Therefore, it is important to provide services to people living in poverty to help them
understand their situation and provide them with the resources necessary to break the poverty cycle.

Geography influenced the Greeks and Roman, as it did many other civilizations. The location of
Greece was on a peninsula. This gave it plenty access to ports which enabled Greece to trade with lots

nothing but sea all around them. This forced them to create ships and other seafaring vessels. Once
again, as in India, mountains separated much of the region. This lead to the rise of City states, such as

How to explore the history of American through the art?
Films and books break the limit of time to be the common way to explore the history of American for
people. Indeed, visiting the famous museum and watching popular historical operas also are two of the
most effective approaches to explore the development of America. Famous museums generally
preserve a large amounts of artworks which are historical and precious to remind people. In my
opinion, Boston s MFA is a good choice to explore the history of America because it is located in the
center of American revolution and it is considered to be the most decisive change. Thus, people are
able to realize what is American about American history through the art.

Pygmalion and My Fair Lady: A Comparison George Bernard Shaw s Pygmalion (1916) and the 1964
American film My Fair Lady, based on Shaw s play, are largely similar in plot and character choice;
My Fair Lady being an adaptation of Pygmalion. Shaw s Pygmalion is based on the Greek myth of
Pygmalion and his statue Galatea. The film interpretation is similar to the play in many aspects,
though it is different in that, because it is a film, the creators had more liberty with scenes and props
used. My Fair Lady is a successful movie adaptation of Shaw s Pygmalion in that it conveys most of
the message Shaw wrote, introduced very similar characters and storyline; however, the film adds in
musical elements, more extravagant examples of scenes, and slightly different themes and emotional
responses than the play itself has to offer audiences. My Fair Lady is basically a straight adaptation of
Pygmalion much of the script is the same dialogue as the play exactly, or with a few words changed,
and takes direct quotes from Shaw s writing. The characters have the same names that Shaw gave
them, and their personalities are quite the same in both the play and the film. Directors did not leave
any character mentioned in the play out of the movie, even if they were only spotted for a very
fleeting moment, like the women of the Eynsford Hill family at the horse race. The similarities of

31. The Effect Of The Halo Effect
According to social psychologists, 30 seconds is how long it takes for someone meeting you for the
first time to form a list of determinations about your character and abilities. In 30 seconds, people
form impressions of you based almost entirely on what they see your clothes, hairstyle, smile, how
you carry yourself, and the rest of your nonverbal communications. Appearances do count. These
quick impressions can also be lasting ones. Psychologists call it the halo effect. ( Appearances and
First, 2011) The Halo Effect is the idea that global evaluations about a person (e.g. she is likeable)
bleed over into judgements about their specific traits (e.g. she is intelligent). It was deemed the halo
effect because our perception of others also creates a perception of a halo above their heads. People
often only perceive what they want to perceive. An example of this affect is the obsession that some
people have with celebrities. Because most Hollywood stars are attractive, we often associate other
likable traits with them such as friendliness and intelligence. An experiment done by two professors at
The University of Virginia, Richard Nisbett and Timothy Wilson, shows the effects of the halo effect.

The classic Inferno by Dante Alighieri is beautifully woven to reflect the realities or unrealities of the
time. The various circles of hell are used by the writer to tell the tale in a free flowing manner (Havely,

be facing tragedies in their life in hell. The writer categorizes the different types of sins that people
can commit and subjects the characters to various punishments, each of which is in a separate circle in
hell. Lawall opines that the writer uses a style that makes the reader envision themselves in the poem

The story narrates that Francesca and Paolo are both punished in hell for their adultery and thus the
subjection to the circle of lust (Alighieri, 1012). She expounds that she had been married to Paolo s

who she loved even though she was married to his brother. One day, she reveals, her husband caught
them together inside her bedroom and was sure that they were lovers. Francesca opened the door and
pretended that all was well before her husband. Unknown to Francesca, Paolo had got stuck in a
ladder as he attempted to run away. Gianciotto then killed the two of them, although he had not
intended to kill his wife. The circumstance that led to her death is an emphasis of the beauty of love.
When Gianciotto jumped to slay Paolo with his sword, Francesca rushed in between and faced the
death first. The husband was too disappointed and ended up killing Paolo as well. The portrayal of the
two characters as lovebirds and the lack of love between Francesca and her husband show the reality
that was then (Alighieri, 1013). The writer further says, through Francesca, that Gianciotto was
thrown into the circle of Caina for killing his family members. This assertion, in character is a

Summer for the Gods: The Scopes Trial and America s Continuing Debate Over Science and Religion
concentrates on the Scopes trial, otherwise called the Monkey Trial, which happened in Dayton,
Tennessee in the mid year of 1925. The trial occurred in excess of a Tennessee law that banned the
educating of human development out in the open schools. The American Civil Liberties Union needed
to test the law, and a junior instructor named John Scopes, consented to help them. The alleged trial of
the century united the well known government official and speaker, William Jennings Bryan, who
headed the opposition to development campaign; and Clarence Darrow, who was viewed as the best
criminal protection legal advisor of the time. The two men, plus their individual direction, clashed in
the trail with the indictment in the end ready to maintain the law.
