There is nothing controversial about saying, as Alexander Bickel did in The Least Dangerous
Branch in 1962, that judicial review is a counter majoritarian force. When one gives an unelected
judiciary the power to declare null and void laws enacted by popularly elected representatives,
there automatically exists the possibility that those jurists will rule counter to the wishes of a
majority. To be sure, the existence of this judicial power creates fundamental problems in a
constitutional democracy, and many forests have been felled in the scholarly quest to analyze those
problems. As Bickel observed, the counter majoritarian nature of judicial review is the root
difficulty in the American judicial system. He also noted, however, that this force is an ineluctable
reality. It is therefore misleading to argue that, empirical studies of judicial review have consistently

Behavioral Therapy (REBT), and Cognitive Behavior Therapy I found that choosing which theory

The island of Ireland is known for many things: St. Patrick s Day, its green landscape, music, beer,
and discord. The heart of this conflict began centuries ago, when Britain came over and forced
Protestantism on the Irish Catholic inhabitants. There has always been hatred between the Irish
Protestants and Catholics. The island is broken up into to distinct regions. The Republic of Ireland
consists of 26 counties, which make up the southern region. This area is predominantly Roman

This upset a majority of the Irish citizens, whom happened to be predominately Catholic, who felt
that they were just that, citizens of Ireland, not subjects of England. They wanted the right to
govern freely without British interference. There were, however, supporters of this act as well.
These Unionists or Loyalists were made up largely of Protestants. They gladly welcomed the power
of the British crown because they felt that they were truly British citizens not Irish citizens.
While under British rule the Catholics were subjected to discriminating laws such as: they were not
allowed to bear arms, hold public office, and were restricted in their right to an education. The laws

Throughout the years the debate over school dress has been a hot topic, while dress codes are
nothing new, they have been a growing issue that past few decades. According to Laura Birkett
on the Toronto Star, For as long as there have been teenagers, there have been adults aghast at

pose to have no actual effect on students in today s world. Birkett also explained that with dress
codeor without it kids will do what they want and will still, most likely, grow up to me respectable

Dress codes are also sending the wrong message to students about body shaming. Donna George
for the Washington Post reveals that, at a School in Maryland a young girl was called out for her
leggings which were said to be a distraction by the young girls teacher. School administrators are
shown supporting the body shaming of students when the mother of the young girl, Eboni Banks
filed a civil right complaint confirming that, Administrators are being allowed to discriminate and
engage in body shaming behaviors (George). The fact that school district employees are being
given the right to determine if a girl s clothes are too distracting or not makes the girl being
victimized feel as if she s doing something wrong and should be ashamed of
