Longhorn Newsletter
The Longhorn Newsletter is a designed booklet that is sent to each household if the student is
enrolled at a Cedar Hill campus. The newsletter can also be picked up at the administration
building or available to download on the district’s website for easier access to the public.
The newsletter provides information about Cedar Hill Independent School District as a whole,
advertising accomplishments, a letter from the Superintendent, soaring students at various
schools throughout the district and also promoting the high school level of sports. The magazine
advertises the companies/restaurants that are in sponsor with CHISD.
The Longhorn Newsletter is a good source of reading to stay involved of what is going on
throughout the district. The only downfall that the newsletter lacks it is distributed out monthly
and there are important events that occur each day.
In closing, the only recommendation I would like to implement is that when they highlight
students they should separate them from grade level and campus. The magazine is a great source
of having everyone involved because it touches basis on everyone; the schools, parents, students,
learning styles, athletics and so much more.
CHISD Email
The automatic email system is formed to send out important that is based on things happen
suddenly. The e-mails also indicate a weekly reminder of events that may be occurring. The
email system is only for parents and district employees who sign up for them.
Technology continues to grow rapidly so it is a good insight to have emails sent put
because the notification can easily pop up on your phone or computer.
The purpose of the email is to remind subscribers of upcoming events or some last-minute
information, such as bus routes being delayed or weather advisory for opening or closing of a
campus.
The weakness of the email system is that it should expand more, CHISD should have each
school to have their own email announcements. CHISD also has a phone system that calls when
students are absent and about campus delays because of weather. E-mails are also a proper
representation that the information was sent .
SCHOOL SCREENING MODULE ANUMAAN HACSE AH.pptxAsmitaHuddar
Inclusive education is here to stay. The success depends on how well the school teachers adapt to thier new role in the rapidly changing educational scene. One of the tasks at hand calling for immediate action is identifying learning needs of the students to be able to address these effectively. For this they are expected to identify learners with special needs. The first step towards that is suspect disability professionally. ANUMAAN is a school screening module facilitating SUSPECTING 7 disabling conditions in classes. Presentation is self explanatory and teachers can use the information easily. COURSE GOALS AND OUTCOMES:
Students taking this course will be introduced not only to the history of a variety of world civilizations dating from the earliest known societies up until the rise of Europe in the sixteenth century, but to the nature of our understanding of said civilizations. The main themes running throughout the lectures will be Cultural Syncretism—the borrowing over time and space between various civilizations and cultures—and Humanity’s Relationship with “the Divine,”—the ways in which humans often have expressed their understanding of the universe around them and their roles in it. Lectures are on Wednesdays and Fridays; the topics for each are found in the attached schedule of class meetings. MondayDiscussion Sections will be led by the Graduate Student Teaching Assistants who have been trained to facilitate discussions of the readings, organize activities related to the topics covered, and work with students on research, writing, and revision. Students successfully completing this course will have: 1) gained a better understanding of the nature and progress of civilizations and cultures over the millennia; 2) learned more about the “historian’s task” regarding historical inquiry, research, and writing; 3) and honed their research and writing skills through completing a series of small projects, culminating in the production of an original piece of historical research.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
This course is a Writing Across the Curriculum (W.A.C.) course, and each student will be required to produce 6000 words of written work. The goal of these assignments is to give students the opportunity to work on their writing skills and improve their critical thinking and critical writing abilities. To achieve this goal, students will produce a research paper throughout the term. See the end of the syllabus for a complete breakdown of the project. There will be three non-cumulative exams at set points throughout the term. The last exam will be administered during Finals week (i.e. December 13 10:30-1:00 PM). Finally, students will be graded on their attendance, activities, and participation in their Discussion sections. To receive W.A.C. credit for this course, students must achieve a grade of “C” or better. Assignments, due dates, and percentages of final grade are as follows:

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
