Rocky Horror Picture Show Imagery
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a musical that takes place in the early 70 s, where Brad Majors and
Janet Weiss are on their way to visit an old professor Dr. Everett V. Scott. On their way, there they
experience some mechanical issues. This causes the two of them to wonder back to a castle they saw
in order to get some assistance. Little did they know they would be getting all the help they needed.
They didn t know there was a celebration happening at the Frank N Furter place. When they arrived,
they were surprised with what was going on for it was abnormal to them. In this analytical Essay I,
will be explaining the hidden imagery behind things in the motion picture. Throughout this film the
use imagery to show how gender roles come into play. In the beginning of the movie they are at the
end of a wedding. Everyone is outside and watching the bride and groom as they are about to leave.
The bride tosses her bouquet and Janet is competitive and gets the bouquet. There is more going on

In this motion picture, they show the audience how gender roles were portrayed for that time era. This
film compares sex to innocence. This film unmasks different sexualities and shines a light on them.
This film is about acceptance, which is why I think it had a lot to do with the perks of being a
wallflower. In the end of the movie all of the characters find out who they really are I feel like that is
something that happens in both stories. In the Perks of Being a Wallflower they find themselves then
part their separate ways. Sam and Patrick go to college leaving Charlie behind. In the rocky horror
picture show Frank and his friends help Brad and Janet find themselves then they return to
Transylvania. This film is all about acceptance and finding who you really are. That is the mission and

Similarities Between Willy Loman And Oedipus
Professor Mary Lounsbury
Composition II
30 April 2017
Drama Essay Plays can be compared despite being composed in different historical times, tragedy
plays started progressing from traditional to modern by focusing on self discovery and less on tragic
mystery and destiny. Today, we will be comparing two tragic plays: Oedipus The King was a Greek
tragedy by Sophocles was written in 429 BC, whereas The Death of a Salesman was written in 1949
by Arthur Miller. The two plays compare and differ in ways even though they were written at different
times. Ancient Greek Drama honored the history of Athens, and as Athens was in a protected war with
Sparta also honored the power of the gods and goddesses who might be prevailed upon for protection.

Oedipus is a significant and noble human being, that is a King of Thebes. Due to Oedipus royal status,
that tragic events that have taken place involving the welfare of his country and of the people.
Unannounced to Oedipus his fate has been decided by the Gods, even before he Was born. Willy
Loman is an older gentleman having trouble admitting that he is growing old. Loman is very
disappointed with life after losing his job. His tragic event, unlike Oedipus does not move a nation, it
only touches on his immediate household. Both plays intertwine scenes from the past and the present
depicts events in a sequent that are unmatched with their chronological progression. In such a case the
crisis scene, getting along later in the report is one able to redirect the play by playing out a decisive
causal event for which anyone is liable. Traditional and modern characters differ in the style of words.
Traditional language is primarily spoken in Latin, a language that we ordinarily do not speak. As far as
Modern characters use language that is spoken in daily life. Modern drama uses symbolism to
showing meaning beyond the everyday literal interpretation and expressionist as symbols for
characters subjective emotions. Traditional plays have a five part structure of most Greek tragedies:
Prologue is the introduction of the play. Parados: is the chorus first song, offering an interpretation of
the conflict learned in the Prologue. Episodia: is a series of scenes usually debates between characters,
in which the action and events of the play are presented. Stasimon: is the Chorus s interpretation and
response to the proceeding act. Exodos is the conclusion scene, including the final lines of the chorus.
The social background of Traditional plays was more spiritual and believing in higher Gods(deus),
attending a play was more of worship for the traditional interview, then what we call

How Has Television Become So Attached To The American Society

about 2. Television is a highly entertaining, and relaxing commodity. Americans are so attached to a
screen that shows their favorite series and become basically in love with it that they spend countless
hours watching it. During the story Harrison Bergeron, it s shown that the society watching TV is
manipulated into thinking the opposite way that today s society is. Modern day society has many
bright and creative thinkers that think outside the box with creative ideas that further improve the
society. For example, Bill Gates, the world s richest man wouldn t be where he is without his creative

Epicurus Vs Lucretius
i. Death is something that is inevitably going to happen in everybody s lifetime. We see people get
older every day and as we know we don t live eternally. But should death be feared or is it harmful?
That is something that nobody can know without a doubt the answer to, but two philosophers,
Epicurus and Lucretius, have built their own arguments on the common assumption that death is the
total annihilation of the self. Therefore, if there is no life after death, we shouldn t fear death itself.
Epicurus creates his no harm argument on the fact that after we die we no longer exist. Lucretius takes
another approach where he makes a comparison using non existence before life. If we don t consider
this time period before we come to life to be bad ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are downfalls to Epicurus and Lucretius arguments that I think can make them debatable. It
cannot be proven that after death our souls are eradicated. For example, many religions believe in life
after death in some form whether it is in reincarnation or heaven. I understand that millions of people
around the world believe in this for a reason and would not blindly trust in an afterlife if they didn t
have a good enough reason to. In addition, there is no way to reach out to those who have already
passed away to know for sure. Therefore, it seems impossible to know with certainty that death is the
total annihilation of the self. This makes me doubt both philosopher s arguments because the claim
that our existence is cutoff after death is what both Epicurus and Lucretius build their arguments off
of. Another reason why I believe death is harmful is because it stops you from experiencing the things
that make you happy in life. Epicurus states that death cannot possibly cause us harm because we stop
existing in that moment. It is my belief though that by our existence coming to a halt that that itself
does cause us harm. You are no longer able to be with the ones you love or do the things that you love.
If we would have lived longer we would be able to experience more of the good things. We might not
feel physical pain or harm after death but that doesn t mean that we aren t missing out on the things
that are enjoyable in the

Suenos de Una Tarde Dominical En La Alameda Central
SUENOS DE UNA TARDE DOMINICAL EN LAALAMEDA CENTRAL
The author of this mural is Diego Rivera. He is one of the most important artists in Mexico. Also, he
had the capacity to involve the people in his work. Diego Rivera always focused his work on politics
and history of Mexico. We have the clear example in Sueños de una Tarde Dominical en la Alameda
Central. It was painted for Diego Rivera in 1947. The original mural was established in one of the
principal walls in the Prado Hotel, but after the earthquake in 1985 it was removed to Palacio
Nacional in Mexico City. As had been noted, Diego Rivera a long of 74m2 painted the most important
events from Mexican history, dedicated for all the people. For this reason, I chose to analyze this ...

The reform was related with Benito Juarez and Imperialism was releated with Maximiliano de
Hasburgo. Finally, the artist expressed the Porfiriato. It was denoted by the newspaper EL
IMPARCIAL one of the most important newspapers in those years. Therefore, the mural has a lot of
details and symbolism that focuses on the claim of Indigenas and on the social classes.
For this reason, is important know that the mural was painted during the presidency of Miguel Aleman
in Mexico. This period was relevant because he fought against the social classes such as Diego Rivera.
He was also interested in the equality between the workers and entrepreneurs. Another important event
was the reform of the third article in the constitution. In consequence, a lot of places like Bellas Artes
and other important culture centers was remodeled and opened for all the people. Also, this reform
prevented and combated the illiteracy in Mexico. The liberty of expression by the artist given more
respect and artists like Diego Rivera could paint murals about the government and the injustice he
experience from the government without a problem, except for some religious groups.
In fact, this mural is an inspiration for all the Mexicans because it represented the most important
events in the Mexican history. Also, this mural symbolizes all the people that fought for a better
country in the different stages of the Mexican history. For

Gender Expectations On Men And Women And Gender Roles In...
Should our biological sex determine our personality? In modern society, they do. From birth, we are
assigned a gender and are socialized to conform to certain gender roles. Even when the babies are still
in the womb, we put gender expectations on them. For instance, boys like blue while girls like pink.
Gender expectation impact men and women in the areas of employment, dating, and marriage. Men
and women are impacted by gender expectations when they look for a job. As children, we are told
that we can be anything. Sadly, this is a lie. For example, men get ridiculed for wanting to be an
elementary school teacher. People question why they want this. For many, the role of an elementary
school teacher is better suited for a woman. They question if he has any bad intentions. Does he want
to help students, or does he really have some other agenda? This is a tragedy because children often
imitate behaviors they see. Male elementary school teachers are positive role models for young boys.
They help young boys to shape how they should behave. Not only do boys benefit from male teachers,
but girls do as well. We live in a world that is so diverse. It is important for young, impressionable
children to witness this first hand. Gender expectations in employment also affect women. For
instance, women are often discouraged from pursuing a career as a firefighter. Many people consider
this job to be better suited for males. They believe that women just aren t strong enough. During

How Is Henry V A Christian King
In Henry V written by Shakespeare, Henry V is exhibited as an idle Christian king. But throughout the
play his actions and his past show him to be a typical man. Although, some of his characteristics as a
king show him to be as he was perceived. King Henry started out as a Christian king but as the play
goes on he is further seen as an average man in his speeches and his actions, but is still seen by the
audience as a man of God. Throughout the play Henry is described as a true lover of the holy church
(I.i.23), and the mirror of all Christian kings (II.Cho.6). He is played up as the ideal and seamless
Christian king. Then during the battle of Agincourt, King Henry tells his army that it is up to Gods
will (IV.iii.23), which shows that he had great faith in God. This is an incredible demonstration of
confidence and trust in God and it stresses his honorable Christian qualities. Another example of him
being a Christian king is in scene two when Henry says God quit you in His mercy which I took as
you got God s mercy and the person receiving it was lucky to have God s mercy on their side during
the event happening. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The characteristics of a Christian can be affected by a number of variables, the time period or the
denomination are two good examples of this. Although aside from these factors some of the basic
traits of a Christian are devotion, kindness, and knowledge. Be that as it may, this isn t only what King
Henry was seen as, while he was seen as a Christian he was likewise a lord, a leader. So he would
need to demonstrate the characteristics of a Christian and a king. Qualities of a king, or leader are
courage, confidence, accountability, and integrity, and these are just a few of the numerous parts to

Star Appliance
Star Appliance Case Study
Situation:
Star Appliance is looking to expand their product line and is considering three different projects:
dishwashers, garbage disposals, and trash compactors. We want to determine which project would be
worth doing by determining if they will add value to Star. Thus, the project(s) that will add the most
value to Star Appliance will be worth pursuing. The current hurdle rate of 10% should be re evaluated
by finding the weighted average cost of capital (WACC). Then by forecasting the cash flows of each
project and discounting them by the WACC to find the net present value, or by solving for the internal
rate of return, we should be able to see which projects Star should undertake.
Conclusion:

Star s returns were found by multiplying the EPS times the P/E ratio to get the year s stock price. I
then found the change in the price each year, which is the capital gain yield (CGY). Adding this, the
CGY, to the dividend yield (also listed in exhibit 6) gave Star s returns. The results of the regression
were a best fit line with a slope of 0.831, which equals beta. Using exhibit 5, I averaged the 10 and 20
year T bill rates to get Rf for 15 years of 10.7%. I used the given 6.0% percent as the market premium.
Putting all of these values into the CAPM equation gave a return on equity of 15.69%. Optimal
Capital Structure
WACC = (D/D+E)(Rd)(1 t) + (E/D+E)(Re) Even though Star originally has a debt free capital
structure, there is an optimal capital structure that includes debt, which is usually a cheaper source of
financing. To find the weighted average cost of capital, I first calculated the cost of debt using the
spread between bond debt ratings (what was the spread?). I added the spread to the risk free rate of
10.7% used earlier as Rd , then multiplied this value by (1 tax rate) to find the cost of debt. Next, I had
to find a beta for the levered Star by using the equation BL=BU(1+(1 t)(D/E)). I determined the
debt/equity ratio by solving (D/D+E) =((D/D+E) 1)^ 1. Now I used the CAPM again to solve for Re
of the levered firm for different proportions of debt. Finally, the WACC was found by multiplying the

Limitations Of UN Peacekeeping
4. LIMITATIONS OF PEACEKEEPING
Limitations of UN Peacekeeping have been exposed time and again. The alterations caused by these
limitations have now been incorporated in the operational structure. The influence of a UN
Peacekeeping Operation, too, depends on extent of involvement of various actors, whose conduct
depends greatly on assessment of strategic interests. So, the characterization of United Nations as an
international authority which could issue directives to enforce its mandate would be an overstatement
as previous missions have demonstrated. There have been calls for overhauling the UN Peacekeeping
structure. A High level independent panel on peace operations was appointed by Ban Ki moon, former
Secretary General of United Nations in October, 2014 to review the state of UN Peacekeeping
Operations. A major concern shared by all panel members which was also earmarked as an essential
shift in the future process was the emphasis laid on striving towards a political solution rather than an
attempt to diffuse the crisis by military means alone. Political instability has been at the roots of many
conflicts, which the UN has sought to defuse by deployment of peacekeeping missions. Most missions
failed to address the larger issue of restoring stability, on account of the fact that military interventions
change the dynamics of regional security forever. Also, removal of a regime could lead to further
deterioration of the conflict as political vacuum created by such removal and facilitating the creation
of an interim proxy regime has challenges of its own. Taking out governments/rulers is perceived as
the most effective immediate response to any call for intervention. The real challenge for international
community arises after a successful throw over, as it pushes the country towards a political crisis. It is
this situation that world/regional powers are keen on exploiting by appointing friendly rulers, with an
eye on strategic interests, which is why a concerted political solution should be the primary objective
of the international community to avoid complications. U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki
Haley recently hit out at the UN peacekeeping operations, calling for a clear demarcation between

Suzie s Therapeutic Relationship With Vivian
The way in which both doctors spoke to and cared for Vivian was beyond disheartening. Throughout
the film there was a tremendous lack of patient centeredness, sensitivity, and compassion behind the
doctors words and actions. The way each doctor communicated with Vivian, and then discussed
Vivian in her unconscious presence, dehumanized her and placed value only on her contribution to
research and academics. Although there were times at which you could see slight efforts were made by
the doctors to provide care and adequate descriptions, their lack of time and empathy were much more
noticeable than their altruistic intentions. Their coercion, ulterior motives, and failure to implement
bioethics throughout Vivian s care was truly repulsive. While in contrast to the doctors, Suzie
developed an appropriate patient centered relationship with Vivian. Suzie demonstrated empathy,
compassion, and utilized many therapeutic use of self techniques throughout each interaction with

Vivian s quality of life and dignity. Having had the opportunity to work in several different healthcare

Anglo Saxon society was decidedly patriarchal, but women were in some ways better off than they
would be in later times. A woman could own property in her own right. She could and did rule a
kingdom if her husband died. She could not be married without her consent and any personal goods,
including lands that she brought into a marriage remained her own property. If she were injured or
abused in her marriage her relatives were expected to look after her interests (David Ross.) The
women were responsible for grounding of grains, baking of bread, brewing of beer, making of butter
and cheese. During this era it was dangerous to travel; thus, most people would travel only if it was
unavoidable. If possible they would travel by water along the coast or along the river. During the early
Anglo Saxon period England was a very different place from what it is today. The human population
was very small. They grew their own food and made their own clothes... The lord and kin had the
strongest ties in the Anglo Saxon society. The ties of loyalty were to the person of a lord. There was no
real concept of patriotism or loyalty to a cause. Kings could not, except in exceptional circumstances,
make new laws. Their role instead was to uphold and clarify previous custom. The first act of a
conquering king was often to assure his subjects that he would uphold their ancient privileges, laws,
and customs (David Ross.) One of the most famous kings during the

Public Communication And Public Relations
Press agentry, public information, two way asymmetric public relations, and two way symmetric
public relations are four models of public relations theory devised by Grunig and Hunt (1983). In this
essay, the author goes on to identify an example each from current public relations business practices
that goes on to show the four public relation models in action. Further stress is provided to ensure that
the examples have all been taken place within last twelve months in the Australian media and
justification of selection is to be done by comparing it with real world examples that are chosen.

Another one way model of PR is the public information model. Grunig and Hunt (1983) stresses that
the public information model is all about having the appearance of journalism to increase credibility
and authority of the message. and it has been found to be used mainly by government agencies, law
enforcement agencies and military units all around the world (Simpson,2015). This model does not
place stress on gathering feedbacks. Non government organisations campaign against the permission
given for Adani Coal mines in Queensland is a typical example of using the power of journalism and
press releases to influence public opinion. Press releases and articles done by Sydney Morning Herald
YourVote: Great Barrier Reef should be prioritised over coal mining, survey shows by Hasham (2016)
and Environmental groups slam Adani approvals as resources sector celebrates by Atfield (2016) are
classic examples of how PR can be used to influence people by providing it an appearance of
journalism. PR strategists for the Greenpeace Australia and other environmental groups have
successfully been able to influence targeted public with press releases. This public information model
used to block Adani Coals from starting mines in QLD, is a perfect example as Grunig, Sriramesh
Lyra (2009) notes the major characterizers of public information model as being one sided
communication where the strategists acts as a journalist to produce objective

a more software centric, online business model termed E commerce. This has become the popular
avenue for businesses as it mirrors the ideas of mobility. The sheer amount of data available, coupled

Argumentative Essay About Monsters
Monsters. They appear in nightmares, under beds, and in the distance lurking around. This is how the
world perceives monsters, but according to Webster dictionary it s a powerful person or thing that
cannot be controlled and that causes many problems. There are constant encounters with them every
day because they make up who someone is. They re everywhere, in plain sight and other times

if it s not intentional, it s human reaction, from little behaviors to extreme ones.
Some might feel like monsters were put here to destroy and tear humanity down, and that they ve been
that way since the beginning of their known creation. However, this is not true. To give a common

Light waves over the electromagnetic reach carry on in equivalent ways. Exactly when a light wave
encounters a thing, they are either transmitted, reflected, devoured, refracted, stimulated, diffracted, or
scattered depending upon the structure of the article and the wavelength of the light.
Particular instruments on load up NASA transport and planes assemble data on how electromagnetic
waves act when they speak with matter. These data can reveal the physical and substance structure of
matter.
Reflection is when scene light (drawing nearer light) hits an article and ricochets off. To a great degree
smooth surfaces, for instance, mirrors mirror all event light.
The shade of an article is truly the wavelengths of the light reflected while each and every other
wavelength are held. Shading, for this circumstance, suggests the assorted wavelengths of light in the
unmistakable light range saw by our eyes. The physical and substance structure of matter makes sense
of which wavelength (or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Refraction is when light waves modify course as they run beginning with one medium then onto the
following. Light ventures slower in air than in a vacuum, and fundamentally slower in water. As light
goes into a substitute medium, the alteration in rate curves the light. Different wavelengths of light are
prevented at different rates, which causes them to turn at different focuses. For example, when the full
scope of evident light experiences the glass of a precious stone, the wavelengths are segregated into

Charitable Deduction Essay
Issues: Are there any restrictions that apply to charitable deductions of old clothes and household
items that you, Clarence, intend to deduct? Answer: The applicable restrictions that will be subject to
your intended charitable deduction will be that you will need to get your old clothes and household
items appraised or audited by classification. If such appraisal determines that the items are worth more
than $500 you will qualify to claim the deduction. In addition, any type of qualifiable deduction for
charitable contributions is limited to 50% of your adjusted gross income (AGI) Background: Based on
the information provided, the items you were considering donating to local charities are old clothes

In addition, IRC §170(b)(1)(A) provides the qualified charitable contributions to a church, convention,
association of churched, educational organization, a private foundation shall be allowed to the extent
that the total contributions does not exceed 50% of the taxpayer s adjusted gross income (AGI). IRC
§170(f)(16)(A) states that an individual is not allowed a deduction for any contribution of clothing or
household item unless such item is in good used condition or better. However, IRC §170(f)(16)(C)
provides an exception to this general rule, stating that if the taxpayer s return includes a qualified
appraisal with respect an item of clothing or household item for which a deduction of more than $500
is claimed, such deduction may be allowed. Lastly, §170(f)(11)(F) specifies that similar items of
property donated to one or more donees shall be treated as one property. On Mark R. Ohde, et ux. v.
Commissioner the case stated that household items included furniture, clothing electronic appliances,
linens, etc. The court held that although the taxpayer s claimed the items were in high condition, they
provided no credible evidence to support their claim. Thus, they disallowed their claims for charitable
deductions.

How Internet Has Changed Communication And Business Services
Introduction
The rapid growth of Web has completely changed communication and business services in such a way
accuracy, speed, and availability of network delivered content have become completely in danger.
Internet is expanding every moment that creates a significant delay making the delivery of any content
becomes extremely difficult. To deal with this problem, proxy servers, also called Web cache, has
been deployed in the internet by providing shared cache location for multiple clients to treat the need
for swift content transmission. Proxy servers practically minimizes delivery time such as requested
object exists in a close cache where the cached version has not expired.
There are three essential purposes of Web caching. First, the response time for a client request can be
considerably decreased by a Web cache, specifically when the bottleneck bandwidth between the
origin server and the client is much less than the bottleneck bandwidth between the cache and the
client. For instance, if the requested object is available in the cache, and we have a high speed
connection between the client and the cache, then the object will be delivered immediately to the
client. Second, traffic on an institution s access link to the Internet can be considerably reduced by
Web caches. This is significantly important because it will minimize the chance of upgrading
bandwidth and reducing costs. Furthermore, Web caches can considerably decrease Web traffic in the
Internet as a whole

Afghanistan Political Instability
The instability, created by a decade of internal conflict in Afghanistan, allowed for outsider groups,
such as the Soviet Union and later the Taliban, to seize power there. Even before the Soviet Invasion,
Afghanistan was burdened with political instability, which stemmed from a lack of leadership at the
presidential level and a power struggle between America and the USSR for access to the Afghan elites.
This period of instability began under President Mohammed Daoud, who himself took power through
a military coup against the previous leader, when he attempted to shift Afghanistan away from Soviet
influence and towards America and the West. Daoud s political maneuvering was faced with severe
criticism from his main political opponents: the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
overthrew the Soviet puppet government in Afghanistan through covert actions, such as funding rebel
groups and supplying weapons, rather than direct military involvement; these same weapons were
later used in the Afghan civil war after the Soviet withdrawal, which was an unintended consequence
of American aid. In his State of the Union address in January of 1980, Jimmy Carter, the U.S.
president at the time, proclaimed, Let our position be absolutely clear: An attempt by any outside force
to gain control of the Persian Gulf region will be regarded as an assault on the vital interests of the
United States of America, and such an assault will be repelled by any means necessary, including
military force. This segment of the speech is known as the Carter Doctrine and shows how America
became more open to involvement against the Russians to protect their national interests, which was a
large shift away from detente, normalizing of relations, from the previous decade. Instead of
deploying their own troops, America unleashed propaganda campaigns, funded, and sometimes even
trained the Mujahideen groups fighting the USSR troops. These covert actions allowed America to
fight the Soviet Union, while having plausible deniability in the international community. Initially,
Reagan s only goal in Afghanistan was to deal a crushing blow to the USSR, as he did not believe that
the Mujahideen could defeat the powerful Red Army. Reagan used Pakistan as an intermediary for

The Causes Of The Columbine High School Shootings
History.com Staff. Columbine High School Shootings. History.com, A E Television Networks, 2009,
www.history.com/topics/columbine high school shootings. 27 November 2017 The source from
history.com describes the Columbine incident by Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris. They killed twelve
students and a teacher with semiautomatic guns. Then when the SWAT team arrived at the school at
around 3:00 PM, the dead bodies of the gunmen were found in the school. The gunmen committed
suicide at around noon and twenty three injured students were evacuated out of the school and into the
hospital. Following the incident, an investigation was done on the motives of the shooters. It was
suspected that the gunmen primarily targeted athletes, minorities and Christians. It was reported that a
student Cassie Bernall was shot to death because she said she believed in god when asked by one of
the gunmen. However, it was later determined that the shooters randomly chose their targets and had
intended on bombing the cafeteria to potentially take hundreds of lives. Thankfully, the bombs never
went off. It was discovered the Klebold and Harris regularly played DOOM, which was the most
violent video game at the time.
The debate on whether video games influenced the individuals who performed these horrendous acts
kick started with the Columbine massacre. I felt I had to read the background information of the
incident to introduce the readers to the horrendous acts performed by the shooters. The discovery

Sexually Transmitted Disease ( Std )
Sexually transmitted disease (STD) is one of the listed topics for Healthy people 2020 area for
improvement. The importance for prevention of STD is marked by a number of different factors like
high yearly increase in infected individuals, rise in healthcare cost, and long term health care
complications associated with untreated STDs. Another significant reason for the importance of STD
prevention is nearly half of the new cases of infected individuals are young adults between the ages of
15 24 (U. S. Department of Health Human Services [HHS], 2015). Adolescents between the age of 15
19 and young adults between the age of 20 24 are at a disproportionate rate in the number of new STD
cases yearly, in comparison to adults and older adults (HHS, 2015). Furthermore, not all STD cases
are reported or accounted for annually, and case numbers are possibly much higher than the reported
incidents that only include Clamydia, Gonorrhea, and syphilis. This target population is at an increase
need for safe sex practices to reduce the prevalence of new cases annually. The increase need for
education is pivotal for the reduction of new STD cases among adolescents. In an article entitled,
Comprehensive Sex Education for Teens is More Effective than Abstinence only programs, from the
American Journal of Nursing, emphasized that there is a need for qualified sex educators to provide
sex education to students in secondary schools. The article highlighted that the current laws, on sex

The Salt Lake Times Case Analysis
Iowa is known to having a water problem for years according to Art Cullen, a local resident and a
writer for The Salt Lake Times . The main reason that lead towards the nitrate problem are watersheds.
Which led to drainage districts being sued affirms Cullen.(1) To attempt to fix that problem Governor
Terry Branstad wants to take $4.7 billion of the schools taxes to devote it to fixing the water problem.
(1) According to Cullen, Branstad presented a study towards the public from highly respected
economists from Iowa stating that while going forth with the plan will create $692 million in
economic activity and 2,800 jobs annually . These were the same economists that made the watershed
and this is one of their ways of fixing the mess. The economists have made many other inventions like
bioreactors, wetland conversions, and cover crops.(1) In which Cullen agrees that they all work until
you consider the shallow lakes in Northwest Iowa are being converted to marshes plus he says Iowa
can not afford to build enough of the inventions to farm as much as the farmers want because of the

Literature Review On Media Violence
PSY 4111 Literature Review. E. Langslow
Trends across research suggest exposure to media violence positively correlates with subsequent
violent behaviour
In this era of internet connectivity, access to an array of violent media stimuli is readily available.
Scientific exploration of the effects of such exposure on real world violent behaviour carries potential
ramifications for the safety of global communities. Media violence is understood here as stimuli that
includes depictions of violence or calls to violent action and includes image, video, television and
gaming. Violent behavior is defined as behavior causing emotional or physical harm expressed
verbally or physically. Whilst there remains no causal proof for the ... Show more content on

The Bobo doll study found that children were more likely to imitate violent behaviour they witnessed
in a film if they perceived the behaviour would generate positive outcomes (Bandura, Ross, Ross,
1963). Later findings across three decades of cognitive research on the effects of learning and priming
concluded thoughts are connected by similar association, with media stimuli cognitively relating to
memories and responses to trigger violent schemata retrieval in real world situations (Berkowitz,
1984; Bushman Geen, 1990; L Rowell Huesmann Eron, 2013). Findings in two general aggression
model (GAM) studies that complement cognitive frameworks, both monitored increases in physical
arousal as potential determinants for short term violent behavior. Again, positive correlations were
found following exposure to media violence.(Bushman Anderson, 2001; Thomas, Horton, Lippincott,
Drabman, 1977). Environmental factors
A range of studies assert that causes of violent behavior are complex at the level of environmental
influence and compare other learning, modelling and disinhibiting factors. This is an area where
opposition to the hypothesis is more common. Two longitudinal studies assessing levels of violence
pre and post the introduction of television found a positive correlation, however

Abstract
Topic: Can having tattoos stop you from getting the job you want?
Intervention Strategy: I used brainstorming for my essay. I came up with ideas to explain about tattoos
in the workplace. Tattoos can stop you from getting the job you want. I feel that having a tattoo does
not stop you from performing the job you are supposed to do. Does having a tattoo prevent you from
doing your work? Why are some employers against employees having a tattoo? What harm is it to

Are Tattoos Appropriate In The Workplace?
Having a tattoo in the workplace doesn t hinder you from doing your job; just some employers are
looking for a reason not to hire a person. Tattoos do not prevent a person from performing their job.
This is just a way that a person may express themselves. Some people may have a tattoo as a
memorial of someone special to them that have passed on. When choosing a career make sure you
choose one that will allow you to have tattoos. For example; if you choose to be a banker you wouldn
t want to be covered from head to toe with tattoos. You would want to make sure that if you choose to
have a tattoo it can be covered up. Here are examples of a job that would allow you to have a tattoo
and not have a problem if they are covered or not is a tattoo shop or even a truck driver. But as a truck
driver you still want to make sure they are not vulgar or violent. So be careful where you get tattoos if
you choose to have them and make sure they are appropriate for the job field you choose.
Inappropriate Tattoos
Some tattoos are inappropriate for the workplace and should be covered. Tattoos that are vulgar have
profanity, or violent should not be in the workplace. If a person has one of these tattoos they should
make sure that it can be covered up. These tattoos can be offensive to an employer or other employees.
Some tattoos can represent a sign of a gang or other

Pan s Labyrinth Analysis Essay
Pan s Labyrinth Award winning filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro delivers a unique, richly imagined epic
with Pan s Labyrinth released in 2006, a gothic fairy tale set against the postwar repression of Franco s
Spain. Del Toro s sixth and most ambitious film, Pan s Labyrinth harnesses the formal characteristics
of classic folklore to a 20th Century period. Del Toro portrays a child as the key character, to
communicate that children minds are not cemented. Children avoid reality through the subconscious
imagination which is untainted by a grown up person, so through a point of an innocent child more is

The language of the film is in Spanish, adding to the enmity as a foreign language to English speakers.
The use of subtitles draws in the audience s attention making them cling on to every word being said
because of the intensity of the movie. There is also a lot of disturbing visual effects in the pan s
labyrinth which also captures the audiences attention such as the scene where Captain Vidal must
stitch his own cheek sliced open from the mouth adds to the realism of the film, leaving the audience
to squirm in their senses, imagining the pain. The use of close ups and tracking shots emphasize the
hysterical, tragic mood of the story. This causes the audience to feel maudlin and affected. An example
is the frame of a close up high angled shot when we see Captain Vidal shoot Ofelia. We realize the
gravity of the crime, watching Ofelia fall to the cold stone floor as her blood drops down the entrance
of the Underworld realm. The uses foreshadowing by Del Toro also plays in as a technique in
depicting a predictive or predetermined conclusion for the protagonist and what is in store for her later
on in the movie. In one scene when her mother is on the bed and the baby starts kicking she tells
Ofelia to recite a fable to her unborn brother to calm him down, her story is about pain and loss and
the reward in the end granted be eternal life. The fable she tells foreshadows the imagination she has

Feed the good Noga Sklar Not that I did not know it, since it affected me personally in such a
profound way, but I wasn t really aware of it, until I read it on Wednesday morning in the Thomas
Friedman s column in The New York Times: In 2007, Apple came out with the iPhone, beginning the
smartphone/ apps revolution; in late 2006 Facebook opened its doors to anyone, not just college and
high school students, and took off like a rocket; Google came out with the Android operating system
in 2007; [...] Amazon came out with the Kindle in 2007. As I affirmed so many times, KBR, the

Blackberries are long gone, and technology is still considered an enemy of sorts in third world

Traditional plays have a five part structure of most Greek tragedies: Prologue is the introduction of the play. Parados: is the chorus first song, offering an interpretation of the conflict learned in the Prologue. Episodia: is a series of scenes usually debates between characters, in which the action and events of the play are presented. Stasimon: is the Chorus s interpretation and response to the proceeding act. Exodos is the conclusion scene, including the final lines of the chorus. • 8. Epicurus Vs Lucretius i. Death is something that is inevitably going to happen in everybody s lifetime. We see people get older every day and as we know we don t live eternally. But should death be feared or is it harmful? That is something that nobody can know without a doubt the answer to, but two philosophers, Epicurus and Lucretius, have built their own arguments on the common assumption that death is the total annihilation of the self. Therefore, if there is no life after death, we shouldn t fear death itself. Epicurus creates his no harm argument on the fact that after we die we no longer exist. Lucretius takes another approach where he makes a comparison using non existence before life. If we don t consider this time period before we come to life to be bad ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are downfalls to Epicurus and Lucretius arguments that I think can make them debatable. It cannot be proven that after death our souls are eradicated. For example, many religions believe in life after death in some form whether it is in reincarnation or heaven. I understand that millions of people around the world believe in this for a reason and would not blindly trust in an afterlife if they didn t have a good enough reason to. In addition, there is no way to reach out to those who have already passed away to know for sure. Therefore, it seems impossible to know with certainty that death is the total annihilation of the self. This makes me doubt both philosopher s arguments because the claim that our existence is cutoff after death is what both Epicurus and Lucretius build their arguments off of. Another reason why I believe death is harmful is because it stops you from experiencing the things that make you happy in life. Epicurus states that death cannot possibly cause us harm because we stop existing in that moment. It is my belief though that by our existence coming to a halt that that itself does cause us harm. You are no longer able to be with the ones you love or do the things that you love. If we would have lived longer we would be able to experience more of the good things. From birth, we are assigned a gender and are socialized to conform to certain gender roles. Even when the babies are still in the womb, we put gender expectations on them. For instance, boys like blue while girls like pink. Gender expectation impact men and women in the areas of employment, dating, and marriage. Men and women are impacted by gender expectations when they look for a job. As children, we are told that we can be anything. Sadly, this is a lie. For example, men get ridiculed for wanting to be an elementary school teacher. People question why they want this. For many, the role of an elementary school teacher is better suited for a woman. They question if he has any bad intentions. Does he want to help students, or does he really have some other agenda? This is a tragedy because children often imitate behaviors they see. Male elementary school teachers are positive role models for young boys. They help young boys to shape how they should behave. Not only do boys benefit from male teachers, but girls do as well. We live in a world that is so diverse. It is important for young, impressionable children to witness this first hand. Gender expectations in employment also affect women. For instance, women are often discouraged from pursuing a career as a firefighter. Many people consider this job to be better suited for males. They believe that women just aren t strong enough. King Henry started out as a Christian king but as the play goes on he is further seen as an average man in his speeches and his actions, but is still seen by the audience as a man of God. Throughout the play Henry is described as a true lover of the holy church (I.i.23), and the mirror of all Christian kings (II.Cho.6). He is played up as the ideal and seamless Christian king. Then during the battle of Agincourt, King Henry tells his army that it is up to Gods will (IV.iii.23), which shows that he had great faith in God. This is an incredible demonstration of confidence and trust in God and it stresses his honorable Christian qualities. I then found the change in the price each year, which is the capital gain yield (CGY). Adding this, the CGY, to the dividend yield (also listed in exhibit 6) gave Star s returns. The results of the regression were a best fit line with a slope of 0.831, which equals beta. Using exhibit 5, I averaged the 10 and 20 year T bill rates to get Rf for 15 years of 10.7%. I used the given 6.0% percent as the market premium. Putting all of these values into the CAPM equation gave a return on equity of 15.69%. Optimal Capital Structure WACC = (D/D+E)(Rd)(1 t) + (E/D+E)(Re) Even though Star originally has a debt free capital structure, there is an optimal capital structure that includes debt, which is usually a cheaper source of financing. To find the weighted average cost of capital, I first calculated the cost of debt using the spread between bond debt ratings (what was the spread?). Next, I had to find a beta for the levered Star by using the equation BL=BU(1+(1 t)(D/E)). I determined the debt/equity ratio by solving (D/D+E) =((D/D+E) 1)^ 1. • 14. Limitations Of UN Peacekeeping 4. LIMITATIONS OF PEACEKEEPING Limitations of UN Peacekeeping have been exposed time and again. The alterations caused by these limitations have now been incorporated in the operational structure. The influence of a UN Peacekeeping Operation, too, depends on extent of involvement of various actors, whose conduct depends greatly on assessment of strategic interests. So, the characterization of United Nations as an international authority which could issue directives to enforce its mandate would be an overstatement as previous missions have demonstrated. There have been calls for overhauling the UN Peacekeeping structure. A High level independent panel on peace operations was appointed by Ban Ki moon, former Secretary General of United Nations in October, 2014 to review the state of UN Peacekeeping Operations. A major concern shared by all panel members which was also earmarked as an essential shift in the future process was the emphasis laid on striving towards a political solution rather than an attempt to diffuse the crisis by military means alone. Political instability has been at the roots of many conflicts, which the UN has sought to defuse by deployment of peacekeeping missions. Most missions failed to address the larger issue of restoring stability, on account of the fact that military interventions change the dynamics of regional security forever. Also, removal of a regime could lead to further deterioration of the conflict as political vacuum created by such removal and facilitating the creation of an interim proxy regime has challenges of its own. Taking out governments/rulers is perceived as the most effective immediate response to any call for intervention. The real challenge for international community arises after a successful throw over, as it pushes the country towards a political crisis. It is this situation that world/regional powers are keen on exploiting by appointing friendly rulers, with an eye on strategic interests, which is why a concerted political solution should be the primary objective of the international community to avoid complications. • 22. How Internet Has Changed Communication And Business Services Introduction The rapid growth of Web has completely changed communication and business services in such a way accuracy, speed, and availability of network delivered content have become completely in danger. Internet is expanding every moment that creates a significant delay making the delivery of any content becomes extremely difficult. To deal with this problem, proxy servers, also called Web cache, has been deployed in the internet by providing shared cache location for multiple clients to treat the need for swift content transmission. Proxy servers practically minimizes delivery time such as requested object exists in a close cache where the cached version has not expired. There are three essential purposes of Web caching. First, the response time for a client request can be considerably decreased by a Web cache, specifically when the bottleneck bandwidth between the origin server and the client is much less than the bottleneck bandwidth between the cache and the client. For instance, if the requested object is available in the cache, and we have a high speed connection between the client and the cache, then the object will be delivered immediately to the client. Second, traffic on an institution s access link to the Internet can be considerably reduced by Web caches. This is significantly important because it will minimize the chance of upgrading bandwidth and reducing costs. Furthermore, Web caches can considerably decrease Web traffic in the Internet as a whole ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The importance for prevention of STD is marked by a number of different factors like high yearly increase in infected individuals, rise in healthcare cost, and long term health care complications associated with untreated STDs. Another significant reason for the importance of STD prevention is nearly half of the new cases of infected individuals are young adults between the ages of 15 24 (U. S. Department of Health Human Services [HHS], 2015). Adolescents between the age of 15 19 and young adults between the age of 20 24 are at a disproportionate rate in the number of new STD cases yearly, in comparison to adults and older adults (HHS, 2015). Furthermore, not all STD cases are reported or accounted for annually, and case numbers are possibly much higher than the reported incidents that only include Clamydia, Gonorrhea, and syphilis. This target population is at an increase need for safe sex practices to reduce the prevalence of new cases annually. The increase need for education is pivotal for the reduction of new STD cases among adolescents. The main reason that lead towards the nitrate problem are watersheds. Which led to drainage districts being sued affirms Cullen.(1) To attempt to fix that problem Governor Terry Branstad wants to take $4.7 billion of the schools taxes to devote it to fixing the water problem. (1) According to Cullen, Branstad presented a study towards the public from highly respected economists from Iowa stating that while going forth with the plan will create $692 million in economic activity and 2,800 jobs annually . These were the same economists that made the watershed and this is one of their ways of fixing the mess. The economists have made many other inventions like bioreactors, wetland conversions, and cover crops.(1) In which Cullen agrees that they all work until you consider the shallow lakes in Northwest Iowa are being converted to marshes plus he says Iowa can not afford to build enough of the inventions to farm as much as the farmers want because of the cost in which is more than what Governor Branstad is taking from school taxes.(1)However, Cullen agrees otherwise, ... Langslow Trends across research suggest exposure to media violence positively correlates with subsequent violent behaviour In this era of internet connectivity, access to an array of violent media stimuli is readily available. Scientific exploration of the effects of such exposure on real world violent behaviour carries potential ramifications for the safety of global communities. Media violence is understood here as stimuli that includes depictions of violence or calls to violent action and includes image, video, television and gaming. The Bobo doll study found that children were more likely to imitate violent behaviour they witnessed in a film if they perceived the behaviour would generate positive outcomes (Bandura, Ross, Ross, 1963). Later findings across three decades of cognitive research on the effects of learning and priming concluded thoughts are connected by similar association, with media stimuli cognitively relating to memories and responses to trigger violent schemata retrieval in real world situations (Berkowitz, 1984; Bushman Geen, 1990; L Rowell Huesmann Eron, 2013). Findings in two general aggression model (GAM) studies that complement cognitive frameworks, both monitored increases in physical arousal as potential determinants for short term violent behavior. Again, positive correlations were found following exposure to media violence.(Bushman Anderson, 2001; Thomas, Horton, Lippincott, Drabman, 1977). Environmental factors A range of studies assert that causes of violent behavior are complex at the level of environmental influence and compare other learning, modelling and disinhibiting factors. This is an area where opposition to the hypothesis is more common. Two longitudinal studies assessing levels of violence pre and post the introduction of television found a positive correlation, however ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
