Schindler s List by Thomas Keneally Essay
Schindler s List by Thomas Keneally
Thomas Keneally has accomplished his goal with Schindler s List. It beautifully and completely
realizes the honest story of a man who was an astounding leader in every respect. This book captures
with accuracy and poignancy a part of history that every member of every society must know about
and never forget, and to do it in novel form is a sign of Keneally s extraordinary ingenuity. To begin
with, Oskar Schindler s embodiment of the leadership characteristics we have discussed in class is
evident. Charisma, perhaps our most highly discussed quality, is his trademark. Schindler cleverly
finds ways to relate to the SS officers and soldiers not only through bribes of high class gifts, but
through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perhaps we could compare him to another leader, President William Jefferson Clinton, in his
exemplification of charisma. Another trait crucial to Schindler s leadership is the ability to shrewdly
harness the skills of others. The most obvious example of this ability is his employment of the Jewish
accountant Itzhak Stern. Despite the fact that Stern is Jew, Schindler knows he is the best man to help
run his business and keep track of his finances and contacts. He immediately recognizes Stern s ability
and puts his trust in him. Likewise, Schindler s utilization of Poldek Pfefferberg to connect him to the
black market is an equally important union. His trust in Pfefferberg also demonstrates his strong
character judgment. Moreover, another apparent manifestation of this quality is Schindler s use of the
Jews in his factory. Besides the fact that they were inexpensive, he knew that they would be
dependable and efficient. Finally, our leader develops an ongoing partnership with the evil
Hauptsturmfuhrer Amon Goeth to get what he needs, his workers. We could similarly compare
Schindler s recognition of trustworthy people and sense of opportunity in taking advantage of the
skills of others to leaders we have discussed in class like Ross Perot. Perhaps most importantly,
compassion is what Schindler may be most remembered for. Despite his image as a shrewd,
opportunistic businessman, the entrepreneur

Notes On Sea Kayaking Force Wind
Kayaking
When everyone hears the word kayaking they all think about one type of boat and one type of
kayaking and they are sea kayaking and a sit on top. Let s talk about sea kayaking before boats and
different types of equipment shall we? Sea kayaking to most kayakers is an unknown place. People
who kayak don t generally think of going out on the sea. Either because they think that the tides will
drag them out or that it is to much work to move your boat, to these people I say that this is absolutely
not true and it is no harder to move on the sea than to move on a flowing river. admittedly on a river
you don t have big waves but still there is next to no difference in how hard it is to move, and as for
the tides unless you irresponsible and decide to go out in gala force wind, then the only thing you have
to think about is the current not the tide. Once you understand all of these variables you can have tons
of fun out there after all the sea is the biggest white water centre there is.
Away from sea kayaking let s look at some of the other aspects of kayaking. There are many different
types of kayaking there is white water kayaking that is all to do with what is basically throwing
yourself down the most wildest rivers you can and praying you come out the other end with yourself
and all your stuff intact. There is also slalom which is going through gates whilst going down a rapid,
and then there is freestyle. Now personally I like freestyle it is not really the kind of

Elizabeth Cady Argument Analysis
If Elizabeth Cady Stanton was alive today, she would be definitely pleased to see the advancements of
women s rights, however, she would not be completely satisfied and probably disappointed to see that
many of the issues she brought up during her time are still being dealt with today. Elizabeth Cady
Stanton was highly critical of the sexual double standard and the lack of equal education for women.
She believed that men should be placed at the same moral standard as women and that women should
be given the same opportunity in education as men. Remarkably, women today have advanced far
more in education than with the sexual double standard, however, the sexual double standard has
come to collide with women s education. Stanton saw that men ... Show more content on

In the Declaration of Sentiments, Stanton writes, That the same amount of virtue, delicacy, and
refinement of behavior that is required of women in the social state, should also be required of man...
(DuBois and Dunmeil A 3). Note how Stanton does not state that women should be allowed to be
sexually free like men, instead she states that women should keep their high standards, but men should
be raised to that standard as well (DuBois 30). Therefore, men should be punished in the same way as
women are to be punished. In addition to leveling the plane on morality, Stanton demands that women
should have the right to be trailed by a jury of our own peers (DuBois 46). By allowing women to be
part of the jury in criminal cases, specifically the cases involving women and sex, more men would be
held responsible for their actions. In the case of Abson, the jury who found her guilty and let the black
man go free was most likely a jury filled with men. Stanton would argue that she was unfairly tried
because according to her, men fails to do justice to women in her best estate, and that she was not
represented in the jury. In her 1854 address to the Legislature of NewYotk, Stanton points out how no
rank of men have ever been satisfied with being tried by jurors higher or lower in the civil or political
scale than themselves, that slaveholders cannot make laws and execute laws for slaves, nor can
nobleman do the same for peasants, therefore she states that neither can man make and execute just
laws for women (DuBois 46). Consequently, if the moral standard were to be raised for men, then
women will have to be represented in the jury for criminal cases so men will be held

Argument 1: Is it okay for my boyfriend to not cook nor clean on his days off? Premise 1: Is it okay
for my boyfriend not cook nor clean on his days off because he deserves a break. Premise 2: Is it okay
for my boyfriend not cook nor clean on his days off because he pays rent. Conclusion: Simply is it
okay for my boyfriend not cook nor clean on his days off because he deserves a break and he pays
rent. This is a deductive argument about my boyfriend does not want to do housework nor cooking
during his days off. The strength of this argument is that the first two statements are true and the
conclusion is true too.The weakness of this argument is that both premises could be rebutted on
sexism or ignorance. All in all, my boyfriend

The Great Smokies By Daniel S. Pierce
In the book The Great Smokies From Natural Habitat to National Park, one can see the true passion
and application that the author, Daniel S. Pierce, holds for one of the United States most prized
possession, the Great Smoky Mountains. Like most, he is intrigued by the incomparable beauty and
thrill of the wilderness, with his main goal being to show that the propose of this national park isn t
just to protect undeveloped land but more to reclaim the wildness and all it stands for. He looks in
depth to the different land use of the smokies over time and the people who have called it home for
centuries with his lager focus on the movement to turn the Great Smokies in to the national park it is
today. The authors purpose is clear and concise. Pierce tells, in a factual tense but a semi narrative one,
the truths and rumors that surround the entirety of how the Great Smokies became more than just
wilderness and into a revered National Park. The chapter design is broken down in a timeline of how
the idea came into fruition and the eventual presidential decree and the challenges that approached the
construction of modern day Great Smoky Mountain National Park. In chapter 1 he begins with
Approximately eight thousand years ago, humans first entered the land now known as the Great
Smoky Mountain National Park and the final chapter starting with Welcome to Mankind! . Even the
chapter titles give small insights into what will follow in the chapters. The development, as previously

A Brief Note On Tax Evasion And Tax
Reporting: Tax Evasion
Tax havens are sometimes called tax shelters, secrecy jurisdictions, international financial centers, or
simply offshores. They are the locations of a growing shadow economy of unregulated global capital
(Global Financial Integrity, 2015). As defined by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), tax havens are
jurisdictions with no or very low rates of tax, strict banking secret provisions, lack of transparency and
efficient exchange of information with other countries (Global Financial Integrity, 2015). Tax havens
mainly help their users to pass any financial regulations illegal banking transactions and to launder
money earned illegally through drug trafficking or organized crimes and hide them from criminal laws
and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The British Virgin Islands has 400000 corporations and requires no financial or personal records to be
kept so this makes it very easy to make larger transfers of money into Tax Havens undetected (Tax
Fairness, 2015). At the same time, laundering criminal proceeds can be easily done through tax haven
by finding a bank in a country that accepts your deposit without asking questions and sends to
whoever you wish to receive it. So is evading taxes disguise income or assets through that country and
fail to report to your home country s authority (Global Financial Integrity, 2015). For example, 53.3
billion Canadian dollars have been sent to Barbados in 2011; 80 billions dollars estimated revenue lost
to tax avoidance in Canada and 24% of Canadian s foreign investments directed into Tax Havens (Tax
Fairness, 2015). This shows how tax evasion is becoming popular as people try to find loopholes in
the system and hide their assets with the help of lawyers and banks.
One of the largest international bank invasions is the Swiss HSBC case. This case is focused upon
majority of the Swiss account holders with HSBC. The investigation was sparked by an ex employee s
whistle blowing. Herve Falciani, a former employee at HSBC s Geneva private bank leaked a list of

Uniforms In High School Uniforms
Growing up in parochial schools, uniforms were a part of my daily life. I wore uniforms for twelve
consecutive years, and I feel very strongly that they impacted my education for the better. I had many
friends attending public schools, and though they got to wear the latest fashion trends and look cute
going to school, I felt that they were at a disadvantage not having uniforms. Uniforms should be
implemented in primary and secondary schools because they enhance self esteem, produce a
conducive learning environment, increase safety, and are cost effective.
It is no surprise that children of all socioeconomic backgrounds, races, religions, and cultures attend
the same schools. Individuality is a beautiful thing, but many times children seeing differences among
their peers allows room for confusion, animosity, jealousy, and even anger. If a child is insecure about
their clothes or appearance, their self esteem can suffer. Principle of Barbara Comstock Morse
Elementary School, Mike Gulden, puts it plainly when asked what would happen if uniforms
disappeared tomorrow, Our needy kids and fairly well to do kids might become magnified and
polarized... There s that stigma of my socioeconomic status. Kids 5, 6, 7 years old shouldn t have to
deal with that. (Boutelle 36.) When children aren t worried about what their clothes say about how
much money their family has or their home life, they will feel more confident knowing they are
dressed how everyone else is dressed.
People who are apposed to the implementation of uniforms in schools argue that uniforms do not hide
socioeconomic status. This may be true, but it certainly does minimize the visual signs of one s
financial situation. There is always going to be a wide range of diversity in schools. This should not
change, but as Gulden puts it, Life has enough hurdles for families and kids; I don t think one of them
should be at school. (Boutelle 36.) Self esteem is a very sensitive thing for kids as they grow up, and
as they go through puberty. Uniforms can boost that self esteem, and help those kids walk a little taller
every day at school.
The environment of a school is very important and has a huge impact on the children in that school
and how they learn.

Positive Optimism Outlook On Life
Life can be full of surprises and is not always an easy journey. However, having an optimism outlook
on life can make one s life journey more enjoyable. Positive emotion is very important to enhance a
progressive life. (Slegiman, 2009). It is one s choice to choose not to have a negative attitude towards
challenges in life but to instead have a positive attitude towards all trials. Recently, the author s
husband was sentenced to six and half years to federal prison and it was a devastating event for their
family of six which included four children. Initially, depression along with a flood of negative
thoughts began to rush through their minds. However, choosing to stand positively and have an
optimistic outlook allowed them to get through this hard time.
The court case was difficult and full of surprises. There were times when they felt like giving up but
chose to hold onto hope and faith. They stopped all hopelessness and negativity that tried to play
through their min. Instead they withstood by knowing and believing ... Show more content on

Finally, a plea agreement of serving six and half years in federal prison was made. But why and how
would this be able to pass? Negative thoughts tried to overcome the husband who was sentenced and
the wife who would have to raise the four children alone while her husband would have to be in
prison. But instead this couple decided to see this as only a temporary setback. Soon they received
good news that with good time and other credit, the husband would only have to serve four years.
Time would pass and this debt of prison time would be completed and defeated. There was no room to
allow sorrow of depression to set in. A positive mindset had to overcome their thoughts and stand
knowing that this will soon pass. According to Seligman optimism aids in individual well being.
Therefore, while having to face this horrible prison sentence, having a positive outlook brought

Discussing Texas V. Johnson Essay
Discussing Texas v. Johnson
This paper will dive in and analyze the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in the case, Texas v.
Johnson, and the still active controversy among the public concerning what circumstances state
governments and the federal government have the right to constitutionally prohibit the burning or
other form of desecration to the American Flag. Under its decision in Texas v. Johnson the later ruling
in the case of United States v. Eichman, in 1990, the Supreme Court had ruled that government can
not bring criminal prosecutions against those whom burn or desecrate the American flag so long as
they are engaged in expressions of political views without abridging the right of free speech
guaranteed under the First Amendment to the United States Constitution at the time. These rulings
have sparked public controversy over whether the Court has gone beyond its correct constitutional
role and multiple proposed constitutional amendments to overturn the Court s decisions which have
failed to pass due to lack of majority. In 1984, Marxist Gregory Johnson, a known radical participated
outside of the Republican National Convention in Dallas to perform a political demonstration against
policies of the administration of Ronald Reagan and certain Dallas corporations. During this time,
Gregory burned an American flag, was arrested, tried and convicted in a Dallas court of a violation of

The Articles Of Confederation With The New Constitution Of...
Early colonists needed to have a written document that recognized the purposes and roles of their
national government. This need arose soon after they declared their independence from Great Britain.
Because of their experience, they feared strong national governments but needed a constitution to bind
their states together protect them from future assaults and to strengthen their economy by trading with
each other and other nations. The document that was adopted by the continental congress was the
Article of confederation. But because of its weakness, the colonists needed a stronger federal
government which forced them to adopt the new Constitution. (Keene, Cornell, O Donnell, 2011).
Compare and contrast the Articles of Confederation with the New Constitution of 1787 Among many
things to compare and contrast them, few of them are mentioned as follows: Sovereignty: Articles
states are sovereign, Constitution people are sovereign as a nation. Executive: Articles there was none,
Constitution president is the executive. Court system: Articles no federal courts and disputes are
solved by congress, constitution has federal court/supreme court system that resolves disputes. Taxes:
Articles Congress with no power to tax but only states, Constitution both congress and states have
power to tax. Commerce and trade: Articles congress did not have power over interstate and foreign
trades, constitution congress has a power of regulating its states and other nations as well.

Professionalism
Professionalism What does Professionalism mean to me? Professionalism in my term means it is
someone who is very dedicated to their profession. It is an important and great decision to follow by
the rules and ethics of professionalism. If we did not have anyone that cared about their profession it
would cause a lot of problems in our society today. It could cause a lot of disruption in your
workplace. In order to abide by professionalism you must take pride in your job, percieve realistic
goals and values, and know what your expectations are. When being a professional you must conduct

that if you act unprofessional you are displaying to the world that the military is unprofessional. This
is why you must maintain professional at all times cause you are the face of the military. Perception is
reality in a lot of peoples eyes, that is a big deal in the military. In search of being professional you
must, and I quote cross all your T s and dot all your I s . Believe it or not a lot of individuals do not

also from what I know and have experienced from day to day. A lot of issues I have been through

Don Delillo White Noise
Ethical Relation in Don DeLillo s White Noise : A Levinasian Approach
Abstract:
In his writings, Emmanuel Levinas has described Face to Face relation as a relation not reducible to
compression and believes it is this encounter of the face that puts responsibility to the other on our
shoulders and stops us from perusing selfish desires. In this essay through a Levinasian study of Don
DeLillo s White Noise I want to show, how the people of the society, in this work, are inattentive to
the Face to Face relation which, alongside their self centered attitudes, leads the protagonist to
destructive actions, who finds comfort only after his realization of such relation with the Other.

Questions On The Decision Of An Option Contract Essay
Problem page 184 Parts 1 and 2 1. Chapter 2 explained that a promise made by an offeror that
effectively limits the offeror s power to revoke the offer is referred to as an option contract. When A
offered to sell B Greenacre and set a fixed time period of five days for the offeree to accept the option
the contract was sealed. Therefore A would be wrong to deny having a contract with B. 2. Restatement
43 gives the specific ways that A could have been right in stating that there was no contract with B.
One of the obvious ways would have been if B did not accept the option within the designated time
period. Another reason that comes to mind is if an offeror diverts from the original offer. Had the
information given to B from the recorder had been reliable then s A stated the option would have no

the things society has failed in doing is promoting a healthy body size for all women. According to the
National Eating Disorder Association, Society has a large impact on women s body image in the
United States. Society has created an thin unobtainable image of how women should look. By doing
this they have created an influx of eating disorders, one of those, is anorexia nervosa. Anorexia
Nervosa is when someone starves themselves and causes extreme weight loss to the point where this
disorder can become life threatening. Anorexia nervosa is a very serious problem specifically in the
United States about 30 million people of all ages and genders ... Show more content on

You keep flipping the pages of this magazine and almost every other page of this magazine there is a
dieting or body enhancing product. Society and media promote body enhancing and dieting in every
way possible such as commercials, magazine pages, billboards, etc. There was a study done with 366
male and female participants. The study showed that exposure to a thin rewarded portrayal activated
ideal discrepancies whereas exposure to fat punished portrayal activated negative discrepancies. Both
of these discrepancies is an increase of negative emotions which can lead to eating disorders such as
anorexia. Society has drastically increased the number of dieting, weight loss, and body enhancing
products of the years. There was a study done that showed the increase in the number of dieting
products and foods between the years of 1973 and 1991. It also showed that women s magazines as
10.5 times as many dieting foods and products as men. While dieting products have increased, the
weight of Playboy centerfolds, Miss America contestants, fashion models and female actresses have
decreased. These are some women who young women of today look up to and if society and media
makes them this unobtainable size these young women are going to want to use these dieting foods
and products to get to be that size which can lead to anorexia and multiple other eating disorders.
Surveys suggest that 83% of adolescent girls read fashion magazines for an average of 4.3 hours per

young girls between the ages of eleven and thirteen; they were asked if they could have three wishes
what would it be, and the number one response of the girls was to lose weight and keep it off. This
survey shows us that media and society have placed body

Zodiac Signs In Greek Myth
What is your sign? , is the number one question that everyone has been asking. Many may see this
question as a pick up line but some people are really interested in knowing our Zodiac Sign. Maybe
because our Zodiac Sign has been said to help us better understand each other s personality and traits.
There are 12 Signs in the Greek Zodiac. Zodiac means circle of animals in Greek, although the 12
signs are composed of animals and humans, with the exception of Libra. There is an interesting and
fun Greek Mythology behind each of our Signs. The Greek Myths behind each of the Southern
Hemisphere Zodiac Signs, which include Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces,
are as follow:
Libra the Libra Sign is represented by scales, which Egyptians believed were used to weigh the souls
of the dead. However, in Greek Mythology, Libra actually represented the golden chariot of Pluto
(Hades). Pluto was the brother of Zeus and ruler of the underworld. One day he spotted a beautiful girl

In Greek Mythology, Centaurs were half man and half horse. They were known to cause great trouble,
except for a gentle Centaur named Chiron. He was very kind and an excellent anchor and physician.
Unfortunately, Hercules had mistaken Chiron for one of the evil Centaurs he was battling and
accidentally shot Chiron in the heart with a poisoned arrow. The arrow caused Chiron such great pain
that he offered to take place of a man named Prometheus and become mortal. Prometheus was a Titan
who had stolen fire from Zeus and was punished greatly for it. Prometheus was chained up to a rock

once again be eaten. Chiron decided that a few minutes of pain was much better than a life time of

The Value Of The Vat Returns
The VAT returns are on the rise as consumers increase spending on cars, furniture and white goods.
The €341 million over performance in VAT revenues in the first 11 months of the year have to be
analyzed alongside the €312 million corporate tax over performance in November alone. An €800
million surge in October shows just how corporate tax has taken off this year. With unemployment
lower than anticipated, at 8.9% in November, income tax receipts were still below target in this month.
The buildup of €16.56 billion in income tax since the start of the year is €801 million stronger than in
2014 and €51 million ahead of target. This shows the exchequer is taking the benefit of the return to
drudgery. However, the failure to reach the November target even as employment growth accelerates
raises questions as to whether job growth is coming from low paid work outside the income tax net.
Health spending to end November was €465 million ahead of target. Problems in the health sector are
not going to go away before the election, but this data puts the public finances in very positive posture
ahead of the campaign (Beesley, Arthur). Ireland s economic freedom score is 76.6, making its
economy the 9th freest in the 2015 index. Its score is up by .4 point from last year, with a notable

Examples Of Juxtaposition In Romeo And Juliet
Juxtapositions are prominent throughout many pieces of literature. Juxtapositions such as oxymorons
and paradoxes force the reader to infer important information about the characters they are reading
about. One good example of this is William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet play. Shakespeare uses
juxtaposition in the drama Romeo and Juliet to indirectly characterize the complexity of their
relationship. Shakespeare uses juxtaposition to indirectly characterize Romeo as someone who lives a
mysterious life. Juliet describes Romeo as whiter than snow on a raven s back (3.2.19). Ironically,
Shakespeare describes Romeo as the bright spot in Juliet s life even though her spouse is the one to
end her cousin s life. She also describes him as someone

Advantages Of A Matrix Organization
What is a matrix organization? A matrix organization is an organization where employees report their
job activities to more than one superior or manager simultaneously. In other words, employees have a
dual reporting obligation to both a departmental manager and a product manager. In describing a
matrix organization, Bauer and Erdogan (2009) explains that employees reporting to department
managers are also pooled together to form project or product teams (p. 326) and in that case,
individual employee report to the project manager and the departmental manager. For instance, the
Dutch electronics giant, Phillips uses matrix management system with its managers reporting to both a
geographical manager and a product division manager simultaneously. ... Show more content on

First, the matrix structure violates the unity of command structure which stipulates that individual
employee in the traditional organization reports to one superior or manager at a time; in a matrix
organization, employees report to two managers which is a vital challenge to employees and managers
involved. This system hinders the coordination of task between employees and their various managers.
Secondly, as a result of reporting to two managers, conflict cannot be avoided. In other words, each of
the presiding managers would want to determine or have a greater say in assigning a task to an
employee while the other manager also sees it as a legitimate obligation to have an employee fulfill
his tasks and report to him.. Bauer and Erdogan ( 2009) explains that the presence of two managers
regulating the behavior of an employee would greatly increase the level of conflict among the two
manager. Similarly, matrix structure brings about role conflict. For instance, an employee may have an
ongoing role to perform in a project and the departmental manager could find it necessary to assign a
separate or different role for the employee, therefore, create a conflict on the role of the employee in
the project. While it may seem beneficial for managers to be interdependent on each other, it could
also be a challenge to managers because they cannot impose their intentions on a project without

A Comparison Peter Shaffer s Equus and Albert Camus s The...
The ways in which truths are presented to external audiences concerning outside characters display
not only a good judgment of character on the presenter, but furthermore, the often insignificant nature
of whom the presenter is talking about, even if the insignificance presented is accidental. Both Peter
Shaffer s Equus and Albert Camus The Stranger approach different ways in presenting the truths of
Alan Strang and Meursault to the audience/jury, but one thing remains clear; intentional or
unintentional manipulation of these characters leads to the eternal distrust of the reliability of their
presenters, Martin Dysart and the members of the law.
Through Dysart s self diagnosis given throughout Equus, Shaffer directly conflicts with ... Show more

Though fascinated with Alan, as the book progresses, it strays from focus on Alan to Dysart, and more
light is shone on Dysart s own problems. Shaffer gives Dysart numerous monologues, not concerning
Alan, but rather, problems and events he has experienced in his own life, though Alan has influenced
these events. In his opening monologue, Dysart keep[s] thinking about the horse! Not the boy: the
horse (Shaffer 9). Shaffer immediately confronts with Dysart s self centered nature, for from the
beginning, Dysart s mind would rather think about an animal. Nevertheless, the manipulation of Alan
is unintentional, for Dysart does not identify with Alan in order to better himself, but rather to bring to
light problems within himself, displaying further his own selfish nature. In contrast with The Stranger,
the truth is brought out and presented to its entirety to the audience, but Alan never receives a true
diagnosis. It remains up to the reader to decide what went wrong with Alan, and what caused him to
stake out the eyes of the horses. On the other hand, all kinds of faults are presented within Dysart, like
his impotence, or his inability to find something to become passionate about. Dysart begins to cross
the line when asking Alan questions concerning the events leading up to the staking of the horses eyes,
to the point of identification with Alan, and eventually, his own demise. His prying continues until he

education related material could be provided to them as it is to many throughout the world. According
to the book, Its goals include providing Internet access (email plus phone service) to 4 billion people,

is an important factor because people living in these rural communities would not be able to afford Wi

communities live a life of poverty and simply cannot afford to pay substantial amounts for Internet
access. There also seems to be a few choices in setting up a Wi Fi infrastructure in developing nations,
including a solar powered communications station. Costs range from $500 per village to $1000 per
village to set up a Wi Fi infrastructure, to $2000 for a village wide solar powered communications
station. These numbers may seem to be quite affordable, but one must understand how many rural
villages in India have a need for this infrastructure. Prices can total up $638 million in order to

A Brief Note On The World Of Greece And Iceland
Bucket List:
What on My Bucket List Most people live busy all the time by doing something in their lives. So,
what do they live for? Indeed, are we living in a dream? Most people would be answer No. Therefore,
we truly need to live the way we really want to do before we die. Thus, I realize, I should do that what
I want to do in my life. For this reason, I made a bucket list with three categories: personal, academic,
and professional. The first thing on my personal bucket list is to travel to Europe, but above all, I want
to go to Greece and Iceland. One day, I watched a Korean reality travel program Youth over Flowers,
which showed young people backpacking with little money. Therefore, I thought that was how youth
should be. Since then, I have been wanting to go to Greece and Iceland by myself. If I could go there,
I would like to go to Santorini Island in Greece, which is the most beautiful place I have seen on TV,
and it looks peaceful with a blue ocean. Salome M. Krell and David Farrell describe Santorini as an
unforgettable beauty when they say, I . . . have fallen in love with this spellbinding place (3). For this
reason, I would like to go Santorini, and I would like to drink wine on the terrace overlooking the sea;
I will feel relaxed and free. Then, I would like to visit Iceland. Iceland is one of the best places to view
the northern lights, although it is hard to see aurora because of the clouds and weather. The authors of

Wage Led Growth Good For Credit Unions And The Macro Economy
Wage led growth good for credit unions and the macro economy
2016 opened with stock markets in turmoil, news on the slowing Chinese economy, and oil prices
falling below $30 a barrel. Credit unions have concerns on how these affects their operations.
Concerned investors overreacted to the news of a slower Chinese economy, which partly explains the
stock market turmoil in the U.S. and around the world. China s economy is not immune from the
business cycle. Its economy s growth rate eventually came down from the double digits to the single
digits as it undergoes structural changes. China is shifting from an export led to a domestic
consumption driven economy. Since 1976, the beginning of China s journey towards integration into
the global economy, annual GDP growth averaged 9.5%. Since 2012, growth has been below average
falling to 6.8% in the fourth quarter of 2015. While it can be argued that China s economic slowdown
has both direct and indirect effects on the U.S. economy through trade and financial flows, a slowing
Chinese economy has marginal effects on credit unions. Moreover, it is difficult to aggregate the
effects of China s economic slowdown in future U.S. economic growth.
Unlike banks, credit unions have limited exposure to the ever present daily gyrations in the stock
market. The stock market turmoil in January was not a viable indicator of a U.S. economic slowdown.
The stock rout was a result of investors reaction to further declines in oil prices, strength

Life After Being Diagnosed With Brain Cancer Essay
In 2014, the American public was captivated by the story of a young woman who decided to end her
life after being diagnosed with brain cancer. Brittany Maynard, a 29 year old woman who had just
been married, had been having splitting headaches. She went to the doctor and was diagnosed with a
tumor. Her life became a blur of hospital visits, treatment plans, and research into what she could do.
Her doctors came to the conclusion that there was no treatment that could save Maynard s life.
According to an opinion piece that Maynard wrote for CNN, she quickly decided that death with
dignity was the best option for [her] and [her] family (Maynard). Since she lived in Oregon, the idea
of dying on an individual s terms was acceptable and legal, because of the Oregon Death with Dignity
Act. Maynard died on Saturday, November 1, 2014. Physician assisted suicide is defined as a
physician intentionally helping a person to terminate his or her life by providing drugs for self
administration, at that person s voluntary and competent request (Radbruch et al. 109). There is a large
controversy over whether or not a patient should be allowed to request and perform physician assisted
suicide; doctors and patients alike have mixed feelings on the issue. The first democratic nation to
recognize the legality of physician assisted suicide was Australia. They enacted a law that described
certain conditions where the act was legal in the Rights of the Terminally Ill Amendment Act in 1996.

How Reganomics Destroyed Middle Class America
How Reaganomics Destroyed the Middle Class Reaganomics are the economic policies that were set
and promoted in 1980s by the U.S. President Ronald Reagan. These policies are mainly connected to
trickle down economics. There are four pillars that are associated with the economic policy of Reagan
and they include: reduce government economic regulation, reduce growth of how much the
government spends, reduce the marginal tax rates such as capital gains tax and income tax and lastly
reduce the level of inflation by controlling money supply growth. These four policies were expected to

The government decided to fund government organizations such as Environmental Protection Agency
instead of funding the social security (Barone 120). This means that the department was left without
funds hence there was no money that could be used to pay those who were working in the social
security majority of which were middle class people. This shows how the middle class people were
destroyed as a result of Reaganomics which forced the middle class people to pay more taxes. In the
end of his two terms as the president of the U.S., 5% of the population which comprise of the rich had
received double wealth and economic share of ownership while 95% of the population which
comprise of the middle class people and the poor had no progress when it comes to immersion of
wealth instead they had lost more of their wealth due to inflation and high tax rates (Barone 120).
Nevertheless, the social security meant to benefit the rich poor since they were the ones who owned
property. The middle class people did not obtain any form of social security thus were forced to
protect their own wealth.
Unregulated economy: the main reason why Reaganomics policy was implemented was to stimulate
economic growth. In the beginning, the policy managed to stimulate economic growth but this was as
a result of increased spending among the middle class people and not as a result of tax cuts.

However, when I look at my peer evaluations collectively, I can still appreciate areas in which I can

students. For example, a comment was provided by my peer with the evaluation of DPT 788 in 2015

them on a regular basis can serve as a stimulus for them to bring concerns forward. I think it also helps
students who are doing well in feeling supported to hear from faculty in this manner. After receiving
this feedback, I began to implement different strategies to optimize the level of communication with
my students. In an evaluation completed by my peer the following year in 2016, it was noted: [Dr.

Ketones and glucose are what feed the brain and keep it healthy and functioning properly. Ketones
supply the brain with energy and when that happens it triggers the activation of proteins called brain
derived neurotrophic factors (BDNFs). These BDNFs are what the brain uses for cell maintenance,
brain repair and brain function.
If the ketone levels in the body are raised to a high enough level, they can heal, repair and reduce
micoglia over activation, help eliminate oxidative stress and calm chronic inflammation while
stimulating the growth of healthy new brain cells. And this results in normal brain function.
So how exactly does this work? Well, excessive Glutamate in the brain is what contributes to
decreasing ketones and as mentioned above ketones are what supply the brain with energy. Too much

Some effects may be that they may not remember things that they have done days ago but they may
clearly remember things such as World War Two. This may have an effect on a person s self esteem as
they will be noticing the change in their behaviour and memory and it will make them think about
what has changed and because of their short memory they may get worried that something bad has
happened to them but they cannot remember. It can also effect self esteem and a person s confidence
because if they lose the ability to communicate and understand what people are saying to them they
may shut down and just ignore everyone that they come into contact with as they may feel
embarrassed about their lack of communication. Alzheimer s disease can have a big effect on family
members around the person with the disease; it would be upsetting seeing a loved one got through
such a major change in their behaviour and their mental capability. If you live with someone with
Alzheimer s and they are wondering in the middle of the night and have sleep difficulties and this can
disturb the family in the house. Also if they are wondering around in the middle of the night around
the community the police may pick them up, meaning they are again disturbed as the police will need
to contact someone to make sure that the person is ok. There are also worries about financial problems

Eugene Ramirez Research Paper
Lindsey Ramirez has little to no tact. Lindsey s eyes are sometimes red. Sometimes she reeks of cigar
smoke. Like Forest Gump said, sometimes she smells like cigarettes. Lindsey sometimes walks
around in public with cigarettes or cigars lodged between her ear and the side of her head, for the
entire world to see. Sometimes she stinks like a distillery. Sometimes she smells like beer: sometimes
she smells like liquor. It is nothing for Lindsey to pull out a fifth in broad daylight and say, Let s get
drunk. Lindsey has very little stage presence. She often acts as if she does not care about her
surroundings. She curses and she is loud. She turns ordinary parking lots into movie scenes. She wears
her sleeping clothes when she leaves the house and goes to the grocery store. Lindsey loves attention,
even if that attention is negative. It is hard to involve her in wholesome family functions because she
will turn the best day ever into a most regrettable moment. She always thinks she is right but everyone
knows that she is wrong. Her immature behavior has left her alienated and avoided like a plague.
Lindsey is in love with the coco. Sometimes her eyes are buck and bouncing. Lindsey proudly
proclaims that she sniffs information, and she will do anything to get her hands on prescription
medication. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Mansa Mali And Its Impact On The West African Empire Of Mali
Mansa Musa, also known as Kanka Musa, ruled the West African empire of Mali. He gained political
and cultural power. Under his reign, Mali expanded its territories and strengthened its control of West
Africa s salt and gold trades. Mansa Musa expanded trade and territory, had religious tolerance, and
made a pilgrimage to Mecca. Mali already controlled the trans Saharan trade routes between the salt
deposits of Taghaza in the north and the gold bearing lands of Wangara in the south. During Mansa
Musa s reign, Mali strengthened its control of the trade routes by gaining important cities such as Gao
and Timbuktu, on and near the Niger River and Walata. His forces expanded westward to the Atlantic
coast of Takrur and eastward beyond the Middle Niger. Trade and ideas flowed freely between Mali,
North Africa, Spain, Egypt and Arabia. Muslim traders plied the desert with their caravans carrying
brass work from Spain, brocades from Egypt, precious stones from India and returned with gold, salt,
cola nuts and ivory. Mansa Mūsā, whose empire was one of the largest in the world at that time, is
reported to have observed that it would take a year to travel from one end of his empire to the other.
As he gained power, he adopted many titles such as Emir of Melle , Lord of the Mines of Wangara and
Conqueror of Ghanata . He established diplomatic ties with North Africa that facilitated
unprecedented Trans Sahara trade which further enriched his kingdom and ushered in prosperity

Sexual Orientation Controversy
The word gay is a difficult word to define in our society and with so much controversy people must be

the first chose it was anything ever which is not correct because a majority of the times adolescents
are confused or bored. They might want to experience something new so they give it a try. However
they might decide that they do not like the same sex and from there on out be hetersexual. Therefore it

  • 3. Schindler s List by Thomas Keneally Essay Schindler s List by Thomas Keneally Thomas Keneally has accomplished his goal with Schindler s List. It beautifully and completely realizes the honest story of a man who was an astounding leader in every respect. This book captures with accuracy and poignancy a part of history that every member of every society must know about and never forget, and to do it in novel form is a sign of Keneally s extraordinary ingenuity. To begin with, Oskar Schindler s embodiment of the leadership characteristics we have discussed in class is evident. Charisma, perhaps our most highly discussed quality, is his trademark. Schindler cleverly finds ways to relate to the SS officers and soldiers not only through bribes of high class gifts, but through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perhaps we could compare him to another leader, President William Jefferson Clinton, in his exemplification of charisma. Another trait crucial to Schindler s leadership is the ability to shrewdly harness the skills of others. The most obvious example of this ability is his employment of the Jewish accountant Itzhak Stern. Despite the fact that Stern is Jew, Schindler knows he is the best man to help run his business and keep track of his finances and contacts. He immediately recognizes Stern s ability and puts his trust in him. Likewise, Schindler s utilization of Poldek Pfefferberg to connect him to the black market is an equally important union. His trust in Pfefferberg also demonstrates his strong character judgment. Moreover, another apparent manifestation of this quality is Schindler s use of the Jews in his factory. Besides the fact that they were inexpensive, he knew that they would be dependable and efficient. Finally, our leader develops an ongoing partnership with the evil Hauptsturmfuhrer Amon Goeth to get what he needs, his workers. We could similarly compare Schindler s recognition of trustworthy people and sense of opportunity in taking advantage of the skills of others to leaders we have discussed in class like Ross Perot. Perhaps most importantly, compassion is what Schindler may be most remembered for. Despite his image as a shrewd, opportunistic businessman, the entrepreneur ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Notes On Sea Kayaking Force Wind Kayaking When everyone hears the word kayaking they all think about one type of boat and one type of kayaking and they are sea kayaking and a sit on top. Let s talk about sea kayaking before boats and different types of equipment shall we? Sea kayaking to most kayakers is an unknown place. People who kayak don t generally think of going out on the sea. Either because they think that the tides will drag them out or that it is to much work to move your boat, to these people I say that this is absolutely not true and it is no harder to move on the sea than to move on a flowing river. admittedly on a river you don t have big waves but still there is next to no difference in how hard it is to move, and as for the tides unless you irresponsible and decide to go out in gala force wind, then the only thing you have to think about is the current not the tide. Once you understand all of these variables you can have tons of fun out there after all the sea is the biggest white water centre there is. Away from sea kayaking let s look at some of the other aspects of kayaking. There are many different types of kayaking there is white water kayaking that is all to do with what is basically throwing yourself down the most wildest rivers you can and praying you come out the other end with yourself and all your stuff intact. There is also slalom which is going through gates whilst going down a rapid, and then there is freestyle. Now personally I like freestyle it is not really the kind of ... • 5. Elizabeth Cady Argument Analysis If Elizabeth Cady Stanton was alive today, she would be definitely pleased to see the advancements of women s rights, however, she would not be completely satisfied and probably disappointed to see that many of the issues she brought up during her time are still being dealt with today. Elizabeth Cady Stanton was highly critical of the sexual double standard and the lack of equal education for women. She believed that men should be placed at the same moral standard as women and that women should be given the same opportunity in education as men. Remarkably, women today have advanced far more in education than with the sexual double standard, however, the sexual double standard has come to collide with women s education. Stanton saw that men ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Declaration of Sentiments, Stanton writes, That the same amount of virtue, delicacy, and refinement of behavior that is required of women in the social state, should also be required of man... (DuBois and Dunmeil A 3). Note how Stanton does not state that women should be allowed to be sexually free like men, instead she states that women should keep their high standards, but men should be raised to that standard as well (DuBois 30). Therefore, men should be punished in the same way as women are to be punished. In addition to leveling the plane on morality, Stanton demands that women should have the right to be trailed by a jury of our own peers (DuBois 46). By allowing women to be part of the jury in criminal cases, specifically the cases involving women and sex, more men would be held responsible for their actions. In the case of Abson, the jury who found her guilty and let the black man go free was most likely a jury filled with men. Stanton would argue that she was unfairly tried because according to her, men fails to do justice to women in her best estate, and that she was not represented in the jury. In her 1854 address to the Legislature of NewYotk, Stanton points out how no rank of men have ever been satisfied with being tried by jurors higher or lower in the civil or political scale than themselves, that slaveholders cannot make laws and execute laws for slaves, nor can nobleman do the same for peasants, therefore she states that neither can man make and execute just laws for women (DuBois 46). Consequently, if the moral standard were to be raised for men, then women will have to be represented in the jury for criminal cases so men will be held ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They are the locations of a growing shadow economy of unregulated global capital (Global Financial Integrity, 2015). As defined by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), tax havens are jurisdictions with no or very low rates of tax, strict banking secret provisions, lack of transparency and efficient exchange of information with other countries (Global Financial Integrity, 2015). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The British Virgin Islands has 400000 corporations and requires no financial or personal records to be kept so this makes it very easy to make larger transfers of money into Tax Havens undetected (Tax Fairness, 2015). So is evading taxes disguise income or assets through that country and fail to report to your home country s authority (Global Financial Integrity, 2015). For example, 53.3 billion Canadian dollars have been sent to Barbados in 2011; 80 billions dollars estimated revenue lost to tax avoidance in Canada and 24% of Canadian s foreign investments directed into Tax Havens (Tax Fairness, 2015). This shows how tax evasion is becoming popular as people try to find loopholes in the system and hide their assets with the help of lawyers and banks. • 10. Uniforms In High School Uniforms Growing up in parochial schools, uniforms were a part of my daily life. I wore uniforms for twelve consecutive years, and I feel very strongly that they impacted my education for the better. I had many friends attending public schools, and though they got to wear the latest fashion trends and look cute going to school, I felt that they were at a disadvantage not having uniforms. Uniforms should be implemented in primary and secondary schools because they enhance self esteem, produce a conducive learning environment, increase safety, and are cost effective. It is no surprise that children of all socioeconomic backgrounds, races, religions, and cultures attend the same schools. Individuality is a beautiful thing, but many times children seeing differences among their peers allows room for confusion, animosity, jealousy, and even anger. If a child is insecure about their clothes or appearance, their self esteem can suffer. Principle of Barbara Comstock Morse Elementary School, Mike Gulden, puts it plainly when asked what would happen if uniforms disappeared tomorrow, Our needy kids and fairly well to do kids might become magnified and polarized... There s that stigma of my socioeconomic status. Kids 5, 6, 7 years old shouldn t have to deal with that. (Boutelle 36.) When children aren t worried about what their clothes say about how much money their family has or their home life, they will feel more confident knowing they are dressed how everyone else is dressed. People who are apposed to the implementation of uniforms in schools argue that uniforms do not hide socioeconomic status. This may be true, but it certainly does minimize the visual signs of one s financial situation. There is always going to be a wide range of diversity in schools. This should not change, but as Gulden puts it, Life has enough hurdles for families and kids; I don t think one of them should be at school. (Boutelle 36.) Self esteem is a very sensitive thing for kids as they grow up, and as they go through puberty. Uniforms can boost that self esteem, and help those kids walk a little taller every day at school. The environment of a school is very important and has a huge impact on the children in that school and how they learn. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Johnson, and the still active controversy among the public concerning what circumstances state governments and the federal government have the right to constitutionally prohibit the burning or other form of desecration to the American Flag. Under its decision in Texas v. Johnson the later ruling in the case of United States v. These rulings have sparked public controversy over whether the Court has gone beyond its correct constitutional role and multiple proposed constitutional amendments to overturn the Court s decisions which have failed to pass due to lack of majority. In 1984, Marxist Gregory Johnson, a known radical participated outside of the Republican National Convention in Dallas to perform a political demonstration against policies of the administration of Ronald Reagan and certain Dallas corporations. When A offered to sell B Greenacre and set a fixed time period of five days for the offeree to accept the option the contract was sealed. Therefore A would be wrong to deny having a contract with B. 2. Restatement 43 gives the specific ways that A could have been right in stating that there was no contract with B. One of the obvious ways would have been if B did not accept the option within the designated time period. Another reason that comes to mind is if an offeror diverts from the original offer. Had the information given to B from the recorder had been reliable then s A stated the option would have no longer been an agreement between the two but in this case it was erroneous and unreliable. The €341 million over performance in VAT revenues in the first 11 months of the year have to be analyzed alongside the €312 million corporate tax over performance in November alone. An €800 million surge in October shows just how corporate tax has taken off this year. With unemployment lower than anticipated, at 8.9% in November, income tax receipts were still below target in this month. The buildup of €16.56 billion in income tax since the start of the year is €801 million stronger than in 2014 and €51 million ahead of target. This shows the exchequer is taking the benefit of the return to drudgery. However, the failure to reach the November target even as employment growth accelerates raises questions as to whether job growth is coming from low paid work outside the income tax net. A matrix organization is an organization where employees report their job activities to more than one superior or manager simultaneously. In other words, employees have a dual reporting obligation to both a departmental manager and a product manager. First, the matrix structure violates the unity of command structure which stipulates that individual employee in the traditional organization reports to one superior or manager at a time; in a matrix organization, employees report to two managers which is a vital challenge to employees and managers involved. This system hinders the coordination of task between employees and their various managers. Secondly, as a result of reporting to two managers, conflict cannot be avoided. In other words, each of the presiding managers would want to determine or have a greater say in assigning a task to an employee while the other manager also sees it as a legitimate obligation to have an employee fulfill his tasks and report to him.. Bauer and Erdogan ( 2009) explains that the presence of two managers regulating the behavior of an employee would greatly increase the level of conflict among the two manager. Credit unions have concerns on how these affects their operations. Concerned investors overreacted to the news of a slower Chinese economy, which partly explains the stock market turmoil in the U.S. and around the world. China s economy is not immune from the business cycle. Its economy s growth rate eventually came down from the double digits to the single digits as it undergoes structural changes. Moreover, it is difficult to aggregate the effects of China s economic slowdown in future U.S. economic growth.
