Canadian Women s Army Corps (CWAC)
Women who measured up measured up as citizens of the nation, not as women.... This was a people s
war and everyone was in it . This famous quote was said by American Colonel Oveta Culp Hobby, in
1943 the Leader of the American Women s Army Corps. American, Canadian or German the concept
of total war affected all parties during the first and second world wars, initiating enormous social
change in these times of death and bloodshed. Women used the idea of total war as a rallying cry to
lobby parliament to form a women s division of the various services and 1941 they were met with a
success. The Canadian Women s army corps or CWAC was established in 1941 as a voluntary service.

The 21 6000 CWAC who served between the years of 1941 to 1945 were presented to the public as
competent yet lady like, inferior to their male counterparts. Their uniforms, hair and makeup
regulations were different then the men s. Recruitment films for C.W.A.C such as proudest girl in the
world displayed the women as the female ultimate retaining a ladylike charm while still being vital to
the war effort. There was also less of a focus in these videos on trades that CWAC personnel would
have performed that were less lady like such as mechanical repairs. When the corps was originally
formed the women performed a very limited number of trades (approximately 30) but the jobs that the
women performed diversified as the war grew on. However even with this increased responsibility
CWAC remained very segregated from the official Canadian Army Corps, personnel took a modified
basic training course and classes as well as slept completely separate from the men. As CWAC
numbers grew so did the number of men that the Women could replace in their various trades. Even
though they performed the same tasks as the men they were paid significantly less. This was accepted
by most women seen as fair considering they did not have to perform guard duty. Some personnel did
lobby for equal pay and by the end of the war women were being paid about 80% of man of equal
rank. While it easy

Hamlet Appearance Vs Reality
What is appearance versus reality? Something that someone appears to be in person, but in reality they
aren t (like having two different characters). As people we judge things fully on their appearance, but
in reality they may be very different then what we perceive them to be. Shakespeare uses theme
appearance versus reality in his plays to show the audience that things will not always be what they
seem. By using this theme shakespeare delves deeper into the darker side of humanity. Like many
works of literature at the time, Shakespeare s plays are never what they seem. Appearances and reality
are called into question several times throughout Macbeth and Hamlet. And plays an important role of
determining the truth. In the opening of the play ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
King Claudius portrays himself as a very honorable trustworthy, and upset due to the loss of his
brother. Thought yet of Hamlet our dear brother s death the memory be green, and that it us befitted to
bear our hearts in grief, and our whole kingdom to be contracted in one beo of woe, (I,II,1 4). But in
reality Claudius is an evil man and is responsible for killing his brother Hamlet s father. King claudius
assistant appears to seem to be a vary caring and love person. But in reality he is very evil and selfish
mans. Polonius goes and tell his daughter Ophelia Do not believe his vows; for they are brokers not
that of that dye which their investments show, but mere implorators, of unholy suits, (I,III,133 135).
Trying to make hamlet seem like a bad person when actually he is. The literature Truth is a lesson, and
the author is a teacher who teaches that lesson to the people who are the readers. The truth expressed
in Macbeth is conscience. Lady Macbeth feels extremely guilty after the murderers she commits. At
the end of the poem Macbeth sees that all the stuff he has done wasn t caused for and life s way too
valuable. The truth in hamlet is love. Hamlet s conflict is surrounded around the murderer of his
father, and his uncle who killed him. Hamlet will never lose love for his father. Both truths are stated

Factors Contributing For Orthodontic Treatment Uptake Essay
Factors contributing to orthodontic treatment uptake Introduction: Enhancing form and getting better
psychological and social function seems to play significant tasks in an individual s choice to begin
Orthodontic treatment.[1] Functional and aesthetic enhancements in occlusion are the common causes
quoted by adults for taking Orthodontic treatment.[2] Previous questionnaire studies are done among
adults and established that, the key fascinating factor for taking orthodontic treatment was an
aspiration to get better dental manifestation, along with facial emergence.[3, 4] The uptake of
Orthodontic treatment has revealed to diverge distinctly in various populations, as of 5% to 60%,

Companies And Organizations Of All Types All Face A Common...
Companies and organizations of all types all face a common challenge: to evaluate how they want to
be seen against the reality of how they are actually seen by various stakeholder groups and publics.
How a company wants to be seen is known as its corporate vision. The corporate vision of a company
explains the long term goals and ambitions of a company. A company s reputation, however, is how a
company is seen overall, compared to its nearest rivals. Companies are able to establish strong
reputations when they have high levels of visibility, distinctiveness, transparency, authenticity,
transparency, and consistency (Cornelissen, 2014, p. 2). When companies have strong reputations,
they are able to lead in their industries and have the favor of stakeholder groups. Companies often
define a corporate vision for their organization. A corporate vision is the desired future state of the
organization...an aspirational view of the general direction that a company wants to go in (Cornelissen,
2014, p. 8). When a company s corporate vision does not match their company s reputation, the
resulting gap must be analyzed and assessed. If the gap is small, then it needs to be maintained so that
it doesn t grow wider. If the reputation is weak, then the gap must be closed to meet the corporate
vision for the success of the corporation. At this point, a strategic intent is formed to help bridge or
maintain the gap that exists between the corporation s vision and its corporate reputation. A

research stated that they made an electronics purchase during the year. The majority of the purchases

In economics the demand of any good is the amount of the good that buyers are willing and able to
purchase (Mankiw, 2012). When considering the demand of smartphones there are several
determining factors that correspond with it. One of the key factors is income. As smartphones are
normal, or even luxury goods, then there is a positive correlation between consumers income and the
demand for the product. In other words, when consumers income rises the demand increases; when
income falls, the same happens with the demand for the product. Employment is rising and wages are
starting to trend upwards (The National, 2014) this fact results in a right shift of the demand curve of
smartphone market on the whole as it shows in Figure 1 below, where D represents the initial demand
and D is the demand after increase of income. If we take into consideration certain brands, for
example Samsung and Apple that were mentioned earlier, not only income but also such factor as
price of a substitute good arises. There are no particular substitutes for smartphones in general, but the
smartphones themselves play a substitutive role inside the market. If the income of the customers is
high, then they can afford themselves to purchase rather expensive phones, iPhones or high priced
models of Samsung for instance. People with lower income that will to buy a smartphone can allow
buying low priced ones. According to law of

The Great war (also known as World war one) was a very deadly battle between many different
nations. World war one was sparked by the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand and his wife. They
were killed by men of the serbian Nation. The three underlying causes of world war one are Alliances ,
Militarism and imperialism. Germany, Austria Hungary and Italy (triple Alliance) made up one
alliance, but Russia, France, and the UK (triple entente) made up the other. Militarism played an role
in this war because every nation wanted to have a great/strong army similar to Great Britain s.
Imperialism played an role in this particular war because they was fighting for land and possessions.
When looking at the dbq the one of the main reason for the war were alliances. Based on the
documents A and B they both represented how alliances caused conflict between each other. In
document (A) it shows what countries were in a reliances. The triple alliance included Germany,
Austria Hungary and Italy. The triple entente included Russia, France, and UK (Great Britain). In

Pre Colonial Maori Society
Pre colonial Maori society was based on kinship groups; hapū, iwi and whanau. These groups are
connected to common ancestors and the land and these ties are still integral to maori communities
today. (Byers, 2002) As colonization took place, the Treaty of Waitangi; New Zealand s founding
document sought to guarantee the protection of Maori culture and customs but this didn t result in
recognition for the value based system of social control which Maori had in place. (Vieille, 2010)
Within the zeitgeist of post war society where rates of urbanisation soared, Maori people comprised
80% of the rural population and over the next forty years, the Maori rural population decreased as
many became a part of the urban population. (Durie, 2007) This demographic revolution occurred due
to the government s acquisition of land, resulting in great changes with many Maori being
disconnected from their traditional ways of life. (Durie, 2007) As these shifts continued, support
networks of the whanau or extended families which were once source of strength of maori
communities slowly disappeared and maori were become more often at the receiving end of hostile
behaviour. (Durie, 2007) Mana in this new urban society was measured differently and it was regarded
more in terms of material possessions in comparison with the society they were used to which
recognized mana as a sacred spiritual element within individual dignity. (Durie, 2007) The influence

Reflective Essay On Water Bottles
If any given person were to walk into my dorm room they most likely wouldn t be too impressed with
it. The one item that would stand out the most is water bottles. I have close to a case of empty water
bottles just sitting around my desk, my nightstand, and piled up in the recycling bin. I refill each water
bottle about 2 to 3 times after drinking one but now I m all out and refuse to buy another case of water
bottles. I never realized how harmful they are too the environment until this class. Never had I realized
how much unnecessary waste I contribute into our environment and it s time for me to start finding
positive alternatives. I have been using water bottles for as long as I can remember. In high school I
would take about two or three water bottles a day, which was absurd now that I look back on it. If had
known how harmful they are to the environment I most likely would ve stopped using water bottles
many years ago. I was pretty annoyed with myself when I found out that around less than 20% of
water bottles are actually fully recycled and that I have just been carelessly using them all my life.
After the first week of class I called my parents and asked if they could send me some money so I
could buy a Hydro Flask, which is made of stainless steel. My father didn t understand why I needed
such an expensive alternative when water bottles are so much cheaper. I was not going to keep
bugging him to buy me one since he spends so much money on my tuition and everything

A Brief History of Harriet Jacobs
As a slave and as a runaway, Harriet Jacobs suffered more psychological abuse than physical abuse.
Harriet Jacobs had to withstand massive amounts of pain and psychological torture due to her place in
society as a slave. Jacobs does not leave out the physical aspect of the suffering, however, she focuses
more on the spiritual and emotional aspect of the slavery age. Although Jacobs had a relatively easy
life in comparison to other slaves, she was deprived from basic human rights and necessities,
witnessed human beings resolve to corruption and be treated like animals, and is sexually abused. The
mental scars left behind are very harsh. Harriet Jacobs was deprived from basic human rights and
necessities. Since Jacobs grew up in a society were African Americans were inferior, they were
objectified rather than be treated in a humane matter. Slaves were taken away the idea that they were
human. ...they thought he had spoiled his children, by teaching them to feel that they were human
beings. This was blasphemous doctrine for a slave to teach; y presumptuous in him, and dangerous to
the masters. (Pg. 12). Jacobs describes how slave owners declared slaves who tried and spread the idea
that they were worth something in society, dangerous and immediately took violent action against
them to suppress those thoughts. This was dangerous to the slave owners because they believed that
rebellion might be initiated. Jacobs was psychologically affected by this, because she was

for the dying. It depends on the level of engagement of the nurse on how easily or how hard she can

themselves on the patient s shoes in order to develop that connection often times they would even
asked relatives how the patient was like when he/she was still well. The significance to the staff is also

the contrary some nurses try to distant themselves and try to avoid being too close to the patient and
the family to shield them from grief. Nurses view patient death in two ways (a). Good death and (b).
Bad death.( shorter Stayt 2009). A good death is when the nurse is prepared and knows that death is
imminent. The nurse has an idea on how the course of the treatment will be,it is therefore deemed less
traumatic for them. Bad death happens when the demise of the patient is sudden. Feelings of regret

According to Impact of Immigration on UK Economy, net migration shows a steady increase from
1991 to 2014, which caused the increases on aggregate demand and GDP in Britain. Since most of
immigrants aged above 18, they usually involved in labor market and caused rise on labor force. From
the chart of UK GDP v.si GDP per head, the GDP increased rapidly from 2005 to 2015. Even though
there was a depression during 2008, the overall GDP trend was still increased. Immigrants tend to
have higher education level. However, from government s official data, immigrants tend to pay more
taxes and receive less welfare benefit from government in this situration. From the data, immigrants
received 45% less than native citizens which shows an equal treatment between immigrants and native
citizens. Assume that immigrants pay some amount of tax with Native Britains, the 45% of welfare
benefit plays an important role on government finance(Bennett, 2013). Bennett s report demostrated
that immigrants paied more taxes than the benefit they received from government, and positively
influenced Britain s economy and GDP. If more and more people are immigrants, and that the
government will get more financial resources, which will help the UK economy. Another factor, which
linked to economy, is consumption accounts. In the society, consumption accounts is the biggest piece
of the overall economic development. Furthermore, it is inevitable that consumption is always
accompanied by tax, more spending will bring more tax revenue. For the immigrants, they came to

Dashkova is her ability to be extraordinary despite her difficult upbringing. Her intelligence was
compelling to the Empress Catherine and the men that she had encountered during her traveling.
Dashkova portrayed herself as a strong, versatile woman, who s not only different from most of the
women during the time period, but can also outperform her male counterparts in various tasks (e.g.

article CHARLESTON CHURCH SHOOTING , Dylan Roof walked into the church with a .45

Designing A Technology, Product, Service, Or Process That...
Abstract
The purpose of this project is to develop a technology, product, service, or process that emulates a
natural system and addresses an area of global need. The project is intended to address an area of
global need by improving the performance, reducing the demand for energy resources and/or reducing
waste, emissions, and byproducts.
For the project, a biomimicry design was considered to develop a tool that would be used to dig more
efficiently and effectively in urban search and rescue. Access to heavy machinery and expensive
equipment can be limited particularly if a structural failure occurs in an area in which a disaster, such
as an earthquake, has occurred.
The product emulates the badger s paws and their ability to dig at high speeds. Although badgers are
not big in size, they have strong feet that allow them to dig extremely fast.
Every second counts when you are searching for and attempting to rescue individuals that are trapped
in confined spaces. The time it takes you to get to the individual could be the deciding factor of the
person s survival. Creating better and more efficient tools for search and rescue teams are necessary to
the team s success.

The occurrence of natural disaster events has increased in frequency during recent years. Although
there has been some advancement in predicting when catastrophic events such as earthquakes,
tsunamis, landslides etc, will occur, stopping them from causing damage seems nearly

Aromatherapy Research Paper
Aromatherapy is the practice of using the volatile oils from plants for therapeutic wellbeing. Used by
many ancient cultures, with the first discovery dating back more than 6000 years ago in Iraq. The
name aromatherapy was created by the French chemist Rene Maurice Gattefosse (1881 1950) whilst
studying and working in his family perfumery business. Similar in nature to herbs, they have complex
chemical components that can stimulate the body to trigger a healing response. These essential oils
can be utilised in massage, inhalations, compresses, added to baths and used for toxic free cleaning.
Chakra Balancing originating from ancient Indian traditions, the chakras are the basic energy centres
of the body. Derived from a Sanskrit word that means wheel . there are 7 main chakras which are
aligned vertically from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. The chakras help to circulate the
vital life force energy throughout our bodies and each zone correlates with different areas of the body.
When any of these energy portals are blocked it will affect the smooth flow of energy through the

Catastrophe Bonds
Catastrophe Bonds
By Kirill Graminschi
The trouble with Catastrophe Bonds
The article presents the difficulties insurance companies face when they are issuing catastrophe bonds.
Do they efficiently hedge against large scale disasters?
It is very difficult hedging against catastrophic losses. Japan s March earthquake, tsunami and nuclear
disaster threat could cost the insurance industry between $21 and $34 billion.
The catastrophe bonds are not helping much the insurance companies, although they were designed to
do so. Catastrophe bonds have limits on type and location of the disaster they will cover. A large
number of catastrophe bonds covered the losses only in Tokyo, although the actual losses occurred far
away from there.
In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Considering all the risk stated above, the insurance companies are still issuing the catastrophe bonds.
In my point of view the issuance of catastrophe bonds by insurers is a successful financial hedging
technique. Even though the investors are having large returns on risk linked securities and only a small
number of them lost their principle, the purpose of these instruments is to provide coverage for highly
improbable risks. The benefit of these bonds is that they allow the insurance companies to secure a
layer of coverage for their worst case scenarios, which may not be available if traditional reinsurance
is used.
Catastrophe bonds help to diversify the protection capacity and supplement traditional reinsurance.
The insurance companies are transferring major risks and thus have more capital to underwrite new
business, therefore using the bonds to diversify their sourcing of reinsurance.
The issuance of risk linked securities is a great strategy in supplementing traditional reinsurance, but
these bonds still need to prove their value in the long run.
In conclusion, I would not agree with Mr. Niklaus Hilti s words: from the perspective of insurers and
reinsurers, traditional reinsurance is clearly the better hedge. The catastrophe bonds are carefully
designed to provide insurers and reinsurers the capital they need for

Nt1210 Lab
The objective of this lab is to be able to understand how the CPU functions work, as well as
understanding machine and assembly language.
Results:
What I found out is that after doing the lab is that there are three cycles that the CPU goes through in
order for the program to be executed. I was able to come up with small programs for 2a and 3b that
will execute according to the instructions given in the lab, which is shown below.
Conclusions:
I thought this lab was really awesome because I was able to construct a machine language program in
binary code, as well as being able to put together a short assembly language program. What I have
implemented from this lab is that the Central Processing Unit (CPU) is able to fetch, decode, and

Nationalism s Role In World War I
Nationalism is the strong belief that the interests of a particular nation state is of primary importance.
It also is the belief that a people who share a common language, history, and culture should have an
independent nation. Nationalism is shown in many ways throughout World War I, the Interwar Years,
and World War II. It is shown in nationalists groups such as the KMT, through new ideas such as
Nazism or Fascism, and during events that happen during wars and revolutions, such as the Salt
March. Nationalism s role is important in all of these wars and revolutions because without
Nationalism, history would be very different. Nationalism has a big impact on World War 1, and its

The Kuomintang, also known as the KMT, were a nationalist party in China during the interwar years

because Sun Yat sen, the leader of the KMT, wanted to unite the people of China under a republic.
Nationalism played a big role in forming the revolution in China. Nationalism is also shown by the
Indian people during the Salt March. The Indian people decided to have this march to show their

Gambling Addiction Research Paper
Addiction or Influence Gambling can easily lead into addiction, an illness that draws people in with
the sense of risking it all. Placing that big bet for them is like a drug, it is exciting which causes the
brain to release adrenaline. The thrill of being beat by your opponent or the rush of being the winner,
winner chicken dinner raking in all the cash is what makes it so addicting. In this case a woman
named Angie Bachmann turned to gambling to fill a loneliness inside her. This loneliness was caused
by a combination of things leading her to gamble her life away. The casino was wrong in a way for

Unlike actual drugs that numb your mind, gambling numbed the empty feeling she felt when being

before she was married or even had kids. Duhigg stated, Bachmnn, on the other hand, was often

like there was nothing special about her other than the fact that she was a good mother. Angie stated, I
always felt like the untalented one (Duhigg pg. 246). Constantly being put down by people who are
supposed to support you to the fullest can make you feel like you are not good enough. It is almost as
if she turned to gambling trying to run from the way her family made her feel. Over the years the more
she gambled the less her family needed her which only made her want to gamble more. If she would

Web Developer a Creative Career Choice
Abstract Web development is a fast growing form of artistic expression that uses computer
programming and technical writing skills to create Web sites. Web developers earn an appealing salary
that increases as specialized skills are introduced. Formal education and training play a vital role in the
preparation and experience of a developer. A survey indicates that most companies today have a Web
site and need the skills of developers. Legal issues for developers and employers are introduced. The
steps needed to follow a career choice in Web development are outlined. Recommendations and
educational needs are discussed. For high school students, this career focuses on aspects of the Web

New Technologies
New jobs are still growing and being created by the internet. Most companies today have a Web site
and training Web technologists has changed from a speedy training session to a more refined method
that considers the companies individual needs. Because of the demand for Web developers, you should
talk to your employer about experience you could get internally (Chapman, 2007). Budgets are not
allowing companies to hire webmasters, instead they are using existing employees to change or update
Web sites. ...technical Web developers are now taking on more roles, thus needing to add more skills
to perform their jobs properly (Thisner, 2004, para. 2). With technologies creating new tools the
developer having specialized skills will become more important. One such technology has been
launched by a company called Goozmo. They are fast growing and have entered the industry as a full

Pilot Deviations
Pilot Deviation, is defined as the actions that result in a deviation from Federal law. Pilot Deviation
Reports are used to document other incidents and violations of the Federal Aviation Regulations and
create unsafe situations. There are many types of Pilot Deviation situations, some of those include:
Operation of an aircraft in a reckless or careless manner (91.13), aircraft flying below 500 AGL, TFR
intrusions, wrongly operating an aircraft in special use airspace, and prohibited night flight operations.
Depending on the severity of the violation, you may be penalized from Administrative or Enforcement
Action, a 709 ride requirement, or even death. It is important to know what the deviation is and how to
avoid it. Most of the pilot deviations occur in the air (77%), the rest is unauthorized pilot deviations on
the ground (23%). Out of the in air deviations the majority of the situations is altitude clearance

The Contribution Of Augustus s Reign From The Middle East...
Augustus is arguably the single most important figure in Roman history. In the course of his long and
spectacular career, he put an end to the advancing decay of the Republic and established a new basis
for Roman government that was to stand for three centuries. This system, termed the Principate, was
far from flawless, but it provided the Roman Empire with a series of rulers who presided over the
longest period of unity, peace, and prosperity that Western Europe, the Middle East and the North
African seaboard have known in their entire recorded history. Even if the rulers themselves on
occasion left much to be desired, the scale of Augustus s achievement in establishing the system
cannot be overstated. Aside from the immense importance of Augustus s reign from the broad
historical perspective, he himself is an intriguing figure: at once tolerant and implacable, ruthless and
forgiving, brazen and tactful. Clearly a man of many facets, he underwent three major political
reinventions in his lifetime and negotiated the stormy and dangerous seas of the last phase of the
Roman Revolution with skill and foresight. With Augustus established in power and with the
Principate firmly rooted, the internal machinations of the imperial household provide a fascinating
glimpse into the one issue that painted this otherwise gifted organizer and politician into a corner from
which he could find no easy exit: the problem of the succession. [[1]]

Jury And Jury Similarities
Juries have been utilized in the system of law and order for more than 1000 years. Their original
purpose was to provide local insight and information that acted more as a witness rather than final
decisions. By the late 15th Century, the jury system had been recognized as an important faction in the
legal system and had become independent as it matured from simple witness to decider of fact.
Consequently, the jury system became undeniably important following the Revolutionary War. The
right to trial by jury was symbolic in the sense that it represented the overthrown power of the king.
From its early stages to this, the system of trial by jury has become the central tenet of our belief in a
justice centered law. Our ideal of equal justice for all most likely could not have evolved without the
strong belief in the wisdom of the jury.
Although trial by jury was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Grand jury and trial jury share similarities as well as differences. Consistently, a grand jury helps the
prosecution decide whether criminal charges should be placed against a suspect in a crime. Ultimately
a grand jury consists of 23 selected people, and they may have duty for months at a time. However,
the jurors will only be working for only a few days out of the duration. However, Trial juries will
decide the facts of a case and usually consist of 6 12 people. When a juror is selected for trial jury,
they can expect to work every day of the trial, which can amount to weeks and even months in
extreme cases. Also, Grand jury s decision will not be the final step in the case. Prosecution may use
the Grand Jury s findings as a test run for trials. However, despite their decision not being the decision
factor in a case, a grand jury s decision is taken seriously and is by no means disregarded. In contrast,
though, A trial jury s verdict is final. Although an appeal can be made, a trial jury s decision on facts
will hold firm throughout the appeal process

the writer who can do the fair job in paragraph writing. The fact that I am feeling so accomplished
about, I was able to write all my thoughts in the paragraph. The first learning outcome is to watch out
for my grammar mistakes in paragraphs. For example, the use of an article like a, an and the in the
sentence formation. The other example is how to use proper tense in the sentence. The new skills I
developed that, I will always proofread my work so I can catch my grammar mistakes. The second

Sputnik And The Space Race
On October 4, 1957, the Space Race between the United States and the Soviet Union commenced in a
sudden, explosive fashion. The Soviet Union launched Sputnik , humanity s very first artificial
satellite, into outer space. Sputnik, meaning fellow traveler in Russian, is now synonymous with the
Cold War and the Space Race. Sputnik s purpose was twofold the first reason was purely to beat the
U.S. to outer space. However, Sputnik had scientific reasons to be in space as well. The Soviet Union
determined five objectives for Sputnik to accomplish during her time in space: 1. Test the method of
placing an artificial satellite into Earth s orbit, 2. Provide information on the density of the atmosphere
by calculating its lifetime in orbit, 3. Test radio and optical methods of orbital tracking, 4. Determine
the effects of radio wave propagation through the atmosphere, and 5. Check principles of
pressurization used on satellites. When the Soviet Union beat the United States by launching
something into space first, the U.S. reaction was palpable. Public fear and anxiety spread throughout
the nation, along with a sense of nationalism and pride. The United States must answer with a launch,
or face humiliation and defeat.
The United States answered the Soviets during the new year of 1958. The new year saw the launch of
Explorer I, the creation of NASA, and the founding of the top secret project Corona. The launch of the
United States first satellite a mere three months after

The Most Incomprehensible Thing About The World
The most incomprehensible thing about the world is that it is comprehensible. Albert Einstein.
Universe is a mysterious world that is incomprehensible to clarify. However, through intelligence,
intuition and ingenuity, it affected Humans to perceive the uncharted world they live in and make it
comprehensible. After the tremendous explosion, hundreds of billions of stars were swirling and
interacting with each other by gravity, constituting a galaxy. In the midst of chaos, there was the Milky
Way galaxy, our galactic home. Unlike a regular spiral, the Milky Way galaxy is a barred spiral that
was comprised with two minor arms and spurs. One of the spurs, Onion Arm, contains the sun and the
solar system. There are eight planets in our solar system and they are all unique. Yet, out of all the
planets, Saturn, perplexed many astronomers with its discoveries. First and Foremost, the chemical
compounds in its upper atmosphere color, its cloud bands in subtle shades of ivory and broad, lacy
rings that encircle Saturn , captivated the astronomers with its charm. Although, ancient Greeks were
able to detect Saturn thousand years ago, no one conceded that Saturn had its rings, until Galileo
perceived them with his telescope in 1610. Indeed, the discovery of Saturn left its mark on the history,
where astronomers had an abysmal quarrel whether it was heliocentric or geocentric.
II. Historical Context In fact, the oldest written records validating Saturn was attributed to Assyrians.

Organization Decision Making Process
An organization continually makes decisions at all levels. Until the past decade, most organizations
and their managers and employees operated in an information and knowledge fog, making decisions
based on best guesses about the past and present, and making expensive errors in the process. Many
have failed throughout the course trying to improve the decision making process, there are many ways
that contribute to the failure. Organizations can easily miss the market, by not having the right
intelligence, analysis, not acting on agreements, having inadequate capitalization or simply because
the competitors are doing better job. Another crucial failure during the process is poor execution,
when there is ineffective leadership, inefficient operations, and excessive costs. Not following the
right strategies is another contributor of failure, not having the right products and services, ineffective
marketing, utilizing outdated technologies and not adjusting to the frequent changes on the market in
today s competitive world. Nevertheless, several steps can guide us to making the right decision. The
first is to declare a decision, recognize that an organization ought to make a decision, second is to
decide what to make with that decision and finally execute the decision to create results and changes
in the outcome of those decisions. There are four stages in the decision making, intelligence, design,
choice and implementation. All of these steps consist of discovering,

Revenge In Edgar Allen Poe s The Cask Of Amontillado
The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe tells the tale of a man that is wronged and avenges this
wrong in the most sinister way possible. After being insulted by a man named Fortunato, the narrator
[vows] revenge but more specifically wants to punish with impunity (qtd. in Meyer 536), this is the
primary conflict in the story: the narrators hope to avenge this insult without getting caught. The
narrator creates an elaborate scheme to murder Fortunato, but never explicitly states what Fortunato
did to insult him. The narrator uses Fortunato s weakness for wine and lures him into the catacombs of
the Montresors (qtd. in Meyer 537). Montresor plays to Fortunato s pride and tells him he has come
into possession of a bottle of Amontillado, a rare wine, and would like for Fortunato to use his
extensive wine knowledge to see if the wine is genuine or not. The climax of the story is the moment
at which Fortunato is chained to the wall of the catacombs. Under his ploy, Montresor is able to get
Fortunato into the deepest part of the catacombs where he has set up supplies to bury Fortunato alive
behind a brick wall. Poe builds suspense in the story through Montresor s slow reveal of his plan.

story. The main character, Montresor, is presented to us as an educated and intelligent man. Poe uses

Buck V. Bell Case Study
Module 3 Activity: Buck v. Bell Since the time of the court s decision, what changes have been made
in the lives of individuals who are intellectually disabled? There have been widespread societal
changes in the way in which individuals with intellectual disabilities are treated since the court made
its decision in the 1920s. These changes lead to those with disabilities being able to participate in
more areas of normal life. This movement to remove barriers for people with disabilities is called
normalization (Hallahan, Kauffman, Pullen, 2015). Prior to the 1970 s, those with intellectual
disabilities were placed in institutions, but after this time there was an effort to keep people with
intellectual disabilities in their own communities. This change has both positive and negative
implications. While this brought people with intellectual disabilities back to their communities and
helped them integrate into a more normal way of life, many are now in jails or homeless. A second
piece of normalization that is particular to education is inclusion. This is the practice in which students
with exceptionalities are included in a general education classroom with their peers (Hallahan,

Who Is John Stuart Mill Act Utilitarianism
Stemming from the 19th century, a group of British philosophers, Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart
Mill formed a set of basic principles to address social problems in England. Jeremy Bentham was
inspired by the ideas of hedonism where happiness is equated to pleasure, thus he de developed a
system of Utility Calculus. One of his followers, John Stuart Mill, however was dissatisfied, so he
redeveloped the system into what is largely known today as the classic ethical theory of Utilitarianism.
Utilitarianism as defined by MacKinnon and Fiala is a normative theory that we ought to concern
ourselves with the greatest happiness for the greatest number of people (p.568). It is one of the most
famous form of consequentialist ethics that is mainly focuses about the consequences of an action. An
action is only right if it conforms to the greatest happiness (pleasure) principle and provides the best
results for the majority of the people. An act is wrong if it results in unhappiness (pain or suffering)
and does the contrary.
There are two forms of utilitarianism, act utilitarianism and rule utilitarianism. Act utilitarianism is
where each individual situation is assessed on its own qualities with the aim of promoting the greatest

Specific Environmental Effects Of Environmental Effects On...
Laboratory 7: Environmental Effects on Enzyme Activity
BI 185 03
BY
Charlie Kane
10/24/17
Abstract
During this experiment we tested the effects that specific environmental conditions have on the
enzyme, peroxidase. Through this experiment we developed an understanding of enzymes and their
functions. By exposing the enzymes to different environments, we observed a changed in their
activity. In order for us to measure these changes we used the technique of spectrophotometry,
meaning we used a spectrophotometer, which measures the amount of light a chemical can absorb. In
our findings we discovered that certain environmental factors such as pH, temperature, boiling do
have an affect on enzyme activity. In conclusion the five null hypothesis were proven to be incorrect.
Introduction
Enzymes are biological catalysts that carry thousands of chemical reactions that occur in living cells.
They could be found in every living thing. Enzymes increase the rate at which chemical reactions
occur. A catalyst speeds up a chemical reaction by lowering the activation energy required. They are
proteins made up of several amino acids. Each enzyme is different due to its structure, it all has
different amino acid sequence. An enzymes ability to function depends on it s environment. These
factors include temperature, denaturation, pH, the size , the shape, and the amount of enzymes present.
Enzymes performs best at ph7. That is the same pH as blood , the more enzymes stray away from pH7
the weaker it becomes , the active site gets damaged. This makes the enzyme not active, no longer
functional. When it comes to temperature enzymes at a certain temperature have maximum activity.
As temperature increases the enzyme activity also increases. When enzymes reach their maximum
activity level and the temperature is still increasing it will start to decline (denaturation). The rate of
reaction also depends on how much enzymes are present. We tested 5 hypothesis which were the
amount of enzyme does not alter the rate of a reaction. pH does not influence the rate of an enzyme
reaction. Temperature does not influence the rate of an enzyme activity. Boiling an enzyme before a
reaction does not influence enzyme activity. The

Native American Blindness
This disease is one of the most used disease due to the product being developed for it and the product
actually being able to help restore the condition back to normal. Currently the Argus II is also being
tested for people with more common conditions like age related eye vision loss.
Even though the pictures patients saw that were produced by the artificial eye were way far from
being the ideal type to call someone not blind, they did let the patient see clear enough to allow them
to recognize faces who they would otherwise not be able to see. This breakthrough in the bionic eyes
is going to benefit lots of patients with common blindness, macular degeneration, all which affect
around 500,000 people in the USA. The Argus II a kind of retinal ... Show more content on

If humans can restore the full sight to a blind person what can they do to a person who is not blind and
is capable of normal sight. The possibilities are endless as many things can be done and many doctors
are foreshadowing them as possibilities. A future where having bionic eyes would make you
superhuman? How? Well, light comes in different wavelengths and humans can only see the visible
spectrum made of colored light. If a bionic eye could let us see the entire electromagnetic spectrum,
from radio waves to gamma waves we d be able to see heat, identify types of gases by sight, and even
look through walls. In a future of humans with a computer in their eyes bionic eyes will be an ongoing
topic of the future. With a camera as an eye, humans will be able to do things like: zoom in and out
like a camera lens, have UV vision, record what we see, and even automatically be able to sync it to
the net with our Wi Fi connected eyes. This is all just speculation but there s no denying that this type
of technology as innovative as it is, is going to turn science fiction into reality one day. Having bionic
eyes will open up a broad array of applications in multiple fields such as studying microbes without
having to carry all the equipment needed to see under the microscope, soldiers will be able to detect
mines in a field, airports will be able to make their security stronger and more secure as

Public Health Interventions on mental health service delivery in Malawi
There have been a strong advocacy by the mental health practitioners to strengthen the elements of
public health such as public health intelligence, interventions and infrastructure in addressing mental
health services during international conferences (11). This has led to the Ministry of Health in Malawi
to plan for the interventions dealing with the disease prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of the
patients once they have recovered from any condition (4). Although the ministry has no specific
mental health strategy and policy, guidelines exist within the Malawian legal framework which have
directed major reforms in the health sector since 1964 (7). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alcohol and illicit drug abuse has been reported globally as one contributing factor towards global
deaths (12). Developing countries, Malawi inclusive, have not been spared especially the adolescents
(8). It is therefore, essential for the Government of Malawi to work on the legal framework regarding
alcohol and drug abuse. This should involve determining the age limits for alcohol consumption,
licencing and regulating pubs, putting restrictions on the advertisements for alcohol and promoting
awareness on the dangers of alcohol in schools and the media. However, strict laws will put the
country to act as a nanny state and issues relating to infringing on human rights and consumer rights
are likely to arise. Nevertheless, the benefits of this decision may outweigh the potential criticism
considering the current international interest on the alcohol use.
Mental Health Promotion
Most of the depressive disorders are preventable if necessary interventions are instituted earlier in the
course of the disease. Malawi has very effective measures of disease prevention ranging from good
immunization services, the Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT), and the
prevention of diarrhoeal diseases (4). The country, through the new Health Sector Strategic Plan for
2011 to 2015 (HSSP), plans to address most of the social determinants of the

Comparing and Contrasting The Passionate Shepherd to His...
Love throughout the years has been interpreted as an intense interpersonal attraction ( I love my
partner ). Love can also refer specifically to the passionate desire and intimacy of romantic love, to the
emotional closeness of familial love, or to the platonic love that defines friendship, to the profound
union or devotion of religious love. Love had been defined by individuals to get close to someone who
have actual feelings for or deeply care about, and one that you will actually risk your life for. But now,
love has been given a bad reputation because now some people are only interested in having non
intimate sex with others. People prefer temporary relationships, instead of dedicating their lives to
their loved ones. These types of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The speaker urges his love to live with him and enjoy the pleasures of the day. Sir Walter Raleigh
wrote a response to this poem in 1600 called The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd. He uses the nymph
as the speaker, responding to the shepherd. There are no clues to the setting or the nymph s physical
appearance. The themes of this poem are doubt and the point that time changes things. The nymph
thinks realistically and refutes the ideas of the idyllic world the shepherd had proposed to her. The
shepherd seems to be very much of an optimist, whereas the nymph is very pessimistic. The structure
of these two poems is exact. There are six stanzas consisting of four lines each. This shows that The
Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd is responding directly to the shepherd in The Passionate Shepherd to
His Love. In each ideal proposal he gives, she gives him the realistic answer to why they cannot be
together.
Next, the speaker in The Passionate Shepherd to His Love is a young shepherd who proposes a
passionate love affair to the girl he desires. He uses nature largely to appeal to her senses. He tells her
they will sit and watch the other shepherds work and listen to the birds sing. This implies that they
will have a life of pleasure and relaxation. He says he will make beds of roses and give her fragrant
posies (Marlowe 1). He promises to outfit her in fine clothes and that she will not want for anything.
He uses all these tempting things to help his

Greasy Lake Literary Analysis
Biographical criticism is used to identify and establish certain aspects of stories from an author s
experience. Most authors have demonstrated this theory by writing from their own personal memories.
From Emily Dickinson to Stephen King, countless authors have either written from their own
background or put him/herself into a story. Some have even re written a terrible memory into the way
they wanted that moment to turn out. John Updike and T.C. Boyle brought this theory to life in their
works A P and Greasy Lake . By reading these stories, one can feel a personal connection to them
because they feel so profoundly relatable. Therefore, in A P and Greasy Lake , one can grasp the
actuality of the stories by putting themselves in the author s shoes and remembering their youth.
A P is an excellent use of biographical criticism when connecting to an author s past. The way Updike
wrote this short story proves to the reader that he can still make a connection to that younger part of
himself; since the main character is about nineteen years old and the author was twenty nine when he
wrote it. While reading the story, one can already connect with the familiarity of it when the main
character mentions the aggravating customer, She s one of these cash register watchers, a witch about
fifty with rouge on her cheekbones and no eyebrows...She d been watching cash registers forty years
and probably never seen a mistake before (Updike 1). For example, say that Updike used to

Exercise Of Dog Parks
I my opionion a dog park would be a great idea for all cities to have. I am a pet person and as siad in
the passage, dogs need their excercise to be happy. Dogs are very entergetic animals and if they do not
have the excercise they need it will most likly result in bad behavior. If there where dog parks in most
cities and people that owned dogs take the time to take the dogs there, most dogs behavior will
improve. People who live in big cities and in small appartments more than likly do not have the
money to buy their own private property just for their dogs. Rental units house 68% of city residents,
and a quarter of these are very small with tiny private yard space. Also as stated in the passage 37% of
Americans who own dogs often look for

Skin Color Discrimination In America
There are citizens in the United States who believe they are living in a free society where all
individuals enjoy the same livelihood and have throughout this nation s history. There are also citizens
living in that same country who do not see this place as one where everyone is valued but
discriminated against on the basis of skin color. For almost four hundred years, blacks have been seen
as inferior to whites based on the color of skin. The United States has a history of slavery and people
fighting for equal rights. Children need to be taught that we do not judge on the basis of skin color. A
teacher by the name of Jane Elliott decided to teach her third grade students about the dangers of
making judgements based on physical characteristics such as skin color and eye color. Her lesson was
designed to bring the reality of discrimination to the for front of her students minds. She began her
fight to educating people about reality of racism the day after Dr. Martin Luther ... Show more content

According to Hughes, Meltzer, and Lincoln (1968), Many Africans were to be uprooted from their
native villages to become dark skinned chattels of the settlers of the New World . From the moment
they stepped onto this new land they were seen as nothing less than property to their white oppressors.
The slave trade was in full motion by the seventeenth century and millions of slaves were imported
until 1807 when Congress passed a law banning the importation of African slaves (Hughes et al.,
1968). A people whose worth was dependent on what they could do to help the white man. Whether it

American, Canadian or German the concept of total war affected all parties during the first and second world wars, initiating enormous social change in these times of death and bloodshed. Women used the idea of total war as a rallying cry to lobby parliament to form a women s division of the various services and 1941 they were met with a success. Recruitment films for C.W.A.C such as proudest girl in the world displayed the women as the female ultimate retaining a ladylike charm while still being vital to the war effort. There was also less of a focus in these videos on trades that CWAC personnel would have performed that were less lady like such as mechanical repairs. When the corps was originally formed the women performed a very limited number of trades (approximately 30) but the jobs that the women performed diversified as the war grew on. However even with this increased responsibility CWAC remained very segregated from the official Canadian Army Corps, personnel took a modified basic training course and classes as well as slept completely separate from the men. As CWAC numbers grew so did the number of men that the Women could replace in their various trades. Even though they performed the same tasks as the men they were paid significantly less. This was accepted by most women seen as fair considering they did not have to perform guard duty. Some personnel did lobby for equal pay and by the end of the war women were being paid about 80% of man of equal rank. While it easy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As people we judge things fully on their appearance, but in reality they may be very different then what we perceive them to be. Shakespeare uses theme appearance versus reality in his plays to show the audience that things will not always be what they seem. By using this theme shakespeare delves deeper into the darker side of humanity. Like many works of literature at the time, Shakespeare s plays are never what they seem. • 5. Companies And Organizations Of All Types All Face A Common... Companies and organizations of all types all face a common challenge: to evaluate how they want to be seen against the reality of how they are actually seen by various stakeholder groups and publics. How a company wants to be seen is known as its corporate vision. The corporate vision of a company explains the long term goals and ambitions of a company. A company s reputation, however, is how a company is seen overall, compared to its nearest rivals. Companies are able to establish strong reputations when they have high levels of visibility, distinctiveness, transparency, authenticity, transparency, and consistency (Cornelissen, 2014, p. 2). When companies have strong reputations, they are able to lead in their industries and have the favor of stakeholder groups. Companies often define a corporate vision for their organization. A corporate vision is the desired future state of the organization...an aspirational view of the general direction that a company wants to go in (Cornelissen, 2014, p. 8). When a company s corporate vision does not match their company s reputation, the resulting gap must be analyzed and assessed. If the gap is small, then it needs to be maintained so that it doesn t grow wider. If the reputation is weak, then the gap must be closed to meet the corporate vision for the success of the corporation. At this point, a strategic intent is formed to help bridge or maintain the gap that exists between the corporation s vision and its corporate reputation. A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In economics the demand of any good is the amount of the good that buyers are willing and able to purchase (Mankiw, 2012). When considering the demand of smartphones there are several determining factors that correspond with it. One of the key factors is income. As smartphones are normal, or even luxury goods, then there is a positive correlation between consumers income and the demand for the product. In other words, when consumers income rises the demand increases; when income falls, the same happens with the demand for the product. Employment is rising and wages are starting to trend upwards (The National, 2014) this fact results in a right shift of the demand curve of smartphone market on the whole as it shows in Figure 1 below, where D represents the initial demand and D is the demand after increase of income. If we take into consideration certain brands, for example Samsung and Apple that were mentioned earlier, not only income but also such factor as price of a substitute good arises. There are no particular substitutes for smartphones in general, but the smartphones themselves play a substitutive role inside the market. (Byers, 2002) As colonization took place, the Treaty of Waitangi; New Zealand s founding document sought to guarantee the protection of Maori culture and customs but this didn t result in recognition for the value based system of social control which Maori had in place. (Vieille, 2010) Within the zeitgeist of post war society where rates of urbanisation soared, Maori people comprised 80% of the rural population and over the next forty years, the Maori rural population decreased as many became a part of the urban population. (Durie, 2007) This demographic revolution occurred due to the government s acquisition of land, resulting in great changes with many Maori being disconnected from their traditional ways of life. Some nurses immersed themselves and put themselves on the patient s shoes in order to develop that connection often times they would even asked relatives how the patient was like when he/she was still well. The catastrophe bonds are not helping much the insurance companies, although they were designed to do so. Catastrophe bonds have limits on type and location of the disaster they will cover. A large number of catastrophe bonds covered the losses only in Tokyo, although the actual losses occurred far away from there. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Considering all the risk stated above, the insurance companies are still issuing the catastrophe bonds. In my point of view the issuance of catastrophe bonds by insurers is a successful financial hedging technique. Even though the investors are having large returns on risk linked securities and only a small number of them lost their principle, the purpose of these instruments is to provide coverage for highly improbable risks. The benefit of these bonds is that they allow the insurance companies to secure a layer of coverage for their worst case scenarios, which may not be available if traditional reinsurance is used. Catastrophe bonds help to diversify the protection capacity and supplement traditional reinsurance. The insurance companies are transferring major risks and thus have more capital to underwrite new business, therefore using the bonds to diversify their sourcing of reinsurance. The issuance of risk linked securities is a great strategy in supplementing traditional reinsurance, but these bonds still need to prove their value in the long run. In conclusion, I would not agree with Mr. Niklaus Hilti s words: from the perspective of insurers and reinsurers, traditional reinsurance is clearly the better hedge. The catastrophe bonds are carefully designed to provide insurers and reinsurers the capital they need for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the course of his long and spectacular career, he put an end to the advancing decay of the Republic and established a new basis for Roman government that was to stand for three centuries. This system, termed the Principate, was far from flawless, but it provided the Roman Empire with a series of rulers who presided over the longest period of unity, peace, and prosperity that Western Europe, the Middle East and the North African seaboard have known in their entire recorded history. Even if the rulers themselves on occasion left much to be desired, the scale of Augustus s achievement in establishing the system cannot be overstated. Aside from the immense importance of Augustus s reign from the broad historical perspective, he himself is an intriguing figure: at once tolerant and implacable, ruthless and forgiving, brazen and tactful. Clearly a man of many facets, he underwent three major political reinventions in his lifetime and negotiated the stormy and dangerous seas of the last phase of the Roman Revolution with skill and foresight. With Augustus established in power and with the Principate firmly rooted, the internal machinations of the imperial household provide a fascinating glimpse into the one issue that painted this otherwise gifted organizer and politician into a corner from which he could find no easy exit: the problem of the succession. Consequently, the jury system became undeniably important following the Revolutionary War. The right to trial by jury was symbolic in the sense that it represented the overthrown power of the king. • 37. Revenge In Edgar Allen Poe s The Cask Of Amontillado The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe tells the tale of a man that is wronged and avenges this wrong in the most sinister way possible. After being insulted by a man named Fortunato, the narrator [vows] revenge but more specifically wants to punish with impunity (qtd. in Meyer 536), this is the primary conflict in the story: the narrators hope to avenge this insult without getting caught. The narrator creates an elaborate scheme to murder Fortunato, but never explicitly states what Fortunato did to insult him. The narrator uses Fortunato s weakness for wine and lures him into the catacombs of the Montresors (qtd. in Meyer 537). Montresor plays to Fortunato s pride and tells him he has come into possession of a bottle of Amontillado, a rare wine, and would like for Fortunato to use his extensive wine knowledge to see if the wine is genuine or not. The climax of the story is the moment at which Fortunato is chained to the wall of the catacombs. Under his ploy, Montresor is able to get Fortunato into the deepest part of the catacombs where he has set up supplies to bury Fortunato alive behind a brick wall. Poe builds suspense in the story through Montresor s slow reveal of his plan. Although the reader is aware he plans to take revenge we are not aware of the severity until later in the story. There have been widespread societal changes in the way in which individuals with intellectual disabilities are treated since the court made its decision in the 1920s. These changes lead to those with disabilities being able to participate in more areas of normal life. This movement to remove barriers for people with disabilities is called normalization (Hallahan, Kauffman, Pullen, 2015). Prior to the 1970 s, those with intellectual disabilities were placed in institutions, but after this time there was an effort to keep people with intellectual disabilities in their own communities. This change has both positive and negative implications. While this brought people with intellectual disabilities back to their communities and helped them integrate into a more normal way of life, many are now in jails or homeless. A second piece of normalization that is particular to education is inclusion. Who Is John Stuart Mill Act Utilitarianism Stemming from the 19th century, a group of British philosophers, Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill formed a set of basic principles to address social problems in England. Jeremy Bentham was inspired by the ideas of hedonism where happiness is equated to pleasure, thus he de developed a system of Utility Calculus. One of his followers, John Stuart Mill, however was dissatisfied, so he redeveloped the system into what is largely known today as the classic ethical theory of Utilitarianism. Utilitarianism as defined by MacKinnon and Fiala is a normative theory that we ought to concern ourselves with the greatest happiness for the greatest number of people (p.568). It is one of the most famous form of consequentialist ethics that is mainly focuses about the consequences of an action. An action is only right if it conforms to the greatest happiness (pleasure) principle and provides the best results for the majority of the people. Laboratory 7: Environmental Effects on Enzyme Activity BI 185 03 BY Charlie Kane 10/24/17 Abstract During this experiment we tested the effects that specific environmental conditions have on the enzyme, peroxidase. Through this experiment we developed an understanding of enzymes and their functions. By exposing the enzymes to different environments, we observed a changed in their activity. In order for us to measure these changes we used the technique of spectrophotometry, meaning we used a spectrophotometer, which measures the amount of light a chemical can absorb. In our findings we discovered that certain environmental factors such as pH, temperature, boiling do have an affect on enzyme activity. In conclusion the five null hypothesis were proven to be incorrect. Introduction Enzymes are biological catalysts that carry thousands of chemical reactions that occur in living cells. They could be found in every living thing. Enzymes increase the rate at which chemical reactions occur. A catalyst speeds up a chemical reaction by lowering the activation energy required. They are proteins made up of several amino acids. Each enzyme is different due to its structure, it all has different amino acid sequence. An enzymes ability to function depends on it s environment. These factors include temperature, denaturation, pH, the size , the shape, and the amount of enzymes present. Enzymes performs best at ph7. That is the same pH as blood , the more enzymes stray away from pH7 the weaker it becomes , the active site gets damaged. This makes the enzyme not active, no longer functional. When it comes to temperature enzymes at a certain temperature have maximum activity. As temperature increases the enzyme activity also increases. When enzymes reach their maximum activity level and the temperature is still increasing it will start to decline (denaturation). The rate of reaction also depends on how much enzymes are present. We tested 5 hypothesis which were the amount of enzyme does not alter the rate of a reaction. pH does not influence the rate of an enzyme reaction. Temperature does not influence the rate of an enzyme activity. Boiling an enzyme before a reaction does not influence enzyme activity. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Native American Blindness This disease is one of the most used disease due to the product being developed for it and the product actually being able to help restore the condition back to normal. Currently the Argus II is also being tested for people with more common conditions like age related eye vision loss. Even though the pictures patients saw that were produced by the artificial eye were way far from being the ideal type to call someone not blind, they did let the patient see clear enough to allow them to recognize faces who they would otherwise not be able to see. This breakthrough in the bionic eyes is going to benefit lots of patients with common blindness, macular degeneration, all which affect around 500,000 people in the USA. The Argus II a kind of retinal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If humans can restore the full sight to a blind person what can they do to a person who is not blind and is capable of normal sight. The possibilities are endless as many things can be done and many doctors are foreshadowing them as possibilities. A future where having bionic eyes would make you superhuman? How? Well, light comes in different wavelengths and humans can only see the visible spectrum made of colored light. If a bionic eye could let us see the entire electromagnetic spectrum, from radio waves to gamma waves we d be able to see heat, identify types of gases by sight, and even look through walls. In a future of humans with a computer in their eyes bionic eyes will be an ongoing topic of the future. With a camera as an eye, humans will be able to do things like: zoom in and out like a camera lens, have UV vision, record what we see, and even automatically be able to sync it to the net with our Wi Fi connected eyes. This is all just speculation but there s no denying that this type of technology as innovative as it is, is going to turn science fiction into reality one day. Having bionic eyes will open up a broad array of applications in multiple fields such as studying microbes without having to carry all the equipment needed to see under the microscope, soldiers will be able to detect mines in a field, airports will be able to make their security stronger and more secure as ... • 43. The Trends in Depressive Disorders in Malawi from 1990 tO... Public Health Interventions on mental health service delivery in Malawi There have been a strong advocacy by the mental health practitioners to strengthen the elements of public health such as public health intelligence, interventions and infrastructure in addressing mental health services during international conferences (11). This has led to the Ministry of Health in Malawi to plan for the interventions dealing with the disease prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of the patients once they have recovered from any condition (4). Although the ministry has no specific mental health strategy and policy, guidelines exist within the Malawian legal framework which have directed major reforms in the health sector since 1964 (7). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Alcohol and illicit drug abuse has been reported globally as one contributing factor towards global deaths (12). Developing countries, Malawi inclusive, have not been spared especially the adolescents (8). It is therefore, essential for the Government of Malawi to work on the legal framework regarding alcohol and drug abuse. This should involve determining the age limits for alcohol consumption, licencing and regulating pubs, putting restrictions on the advertisements for alcohol and promoting awareness on the dangers of alcohol in schools and the media. However, strict laws will put the country to act as a nanny state and issues relating to infringing on human rights and consumer rights are likely to arise. Nevertheless, the benefits of this decision may outweigh the potential criticism considering the current international interest on the alcohol use. Mental Health Promotion Most of the depressive disorders are preventable if necessary interventions are instituted earlier in the course of the disease. Malawi has very effective measures of disease prevention ranging from good immunization services, the Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT), and the prevention of diarrhoeal diseases (4). The country, through the new Health Sector Strategic Plan for 2011 to 2015 (HSSP), plans to address most of the social determinants of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Comparing and Contrasting The Passionate Shepherd to His... Love throughout the years has been interpreted as an intense interpersonal attraction ( I love my partner ). Love can also refer specifically to the passionate desire and intimacy of romantic love, to the emotional closeness of familial love, or to the platonic love that defines friendship, to the profound union or devotion of religious love. Love had been defined by individuals to get close to someone who have actual feelings for or deeply care about, and one that you will actually risk your life for. But now, love has been given a bad reputation because now some people are only interested in having non intimate sex with others. People prefer temporary relationships, instead of dedicating their lives to their loved ones. These types of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The speaker urges his love to live with him and enjoy the pleasures of the day. Sir Walter Raleigh wrote a response to this poem in 1600 called The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd. He uses the nymph as the speaker, responding to the shepherd. There are no clues to the setting or the nymph s physical appearance. The themes of this poem are doubt and the point that time changes things. The nymph thinks realistically and refutes the ideas of the idyllic world the shepherd had proposed to her. The shepherd seems to be very much of an optimist, whereas the nymph is very pessimistic. The structure of these two poems is exact. There are six stanzas consisting of four lines each. This shows that The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd is responding directly to the shepherd in The Passionate Shepherd to His Love. In each ideal proposal he gives, she gives him the realistic answer to why they cannot be together. Next, the speaker in The Passionate Shepherd to His Love is a young shepherd who proposes a passionate love affair to the girl he desires. He uses nature largely to appeal to her senses. He tells her they will sit and watch the other shepherds work and listen to the birds sing. This implies that they will have a life of pleasure and relaxation. He says he will make beds of roses and give her fragrant posies (Marlowe 1). He promises to outfit her in fine clothes and that she will not want for anything. • 45. Greasy Lake Literary Analysis Biographical criticism is used to identify and establish certain aspects of stories from an author s experience. Most authors have demonstrated this theory by writing from their own personal memories. From Emily Dickinson to Stephen King, countless authors have either written from their own background or put him/herself into a story. Some have even re written a terrible memory into the way they wanted that moment to turn out. John Updike and T.C. Boyle brought this theory to life in their works A P and Greasy Lake . By reading these stories, one can feel a personal connection to them because they feel so profoundly relatable. Therefore, in A P and Greasy Lake , one can grasp the actuality of the stories by putting themselves in the author s shoes and remembering their youth. A P is an excellent use of biographical criticism when connecting to an author s past. The way Updike wrote this short story proves to the reader that he can still make a connection to that younger part of himself; since the main character is about nineteen years old and the author was twenty nine when he wrote it. While reading the story, one can already connect with the familiarity of it when the main character mentions the aggravating customer, She s one of these cash register watchers, a witch about fifty with rouge on her cheekbones and no eyebrows...She d been watching cash registers forty years and probably never seen a mistake before (Updike 1). For example, say that Updike used to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dogs are very entergetic animals and if they do not have the excercise they need it will most likly result in bad behavior. If there where dog parks in most cities and people that owned dogs take the time to take the dogs there, most dogs behavior will improve. People who live in big cities and in small appartments more than likly do not have the money to buy their own private property just for their dogs. • 47. Skin Color Discrimination In America There are citizens in the United States who believe they are living in a free society where all individuals enjoy the same livelihood and have throughout this nation s history. There are also citizens living in that same country who do not see this place as one where everyone is valued but discriminated against on the basis of skin color. For almost four hundred years, blacks have been seen as inferior to whites based on the color of skin. The United States has a history of slavery and people fighting for equal rights. Children need to be taught that we do not judge on the basis of skin color. A teacher by the name of Jane Elliott decided to teach her third grade students about the dangers of making judgements based on physical characteristics such as skin color and eye color. Her lesson was designed to bring the reality of discrimination to the for front of her students minds.
