Impact Of Rearmament And Remilitarization
Rearmament and Remilitarization Hitler s Path to Power
The strongest military power in Europe. On April 2, 1936, this haunting description of the strength of
Nazi Germany was made by Louis Maurin, the French Minister of War at the time (Deist). 18 years
earlier, the allied powers had crippled German military strength, limited the size of her standing army
to 100,000 men, prohibited the manufacturing of arms, and virtually liquidated the German Navy and
Air Force after their defeat in World War I (Britannica). For years, Germany and her people suffered
under devastating financial crises and debilitating terms stipulated in the Treaty of Versailles. As
frustration and a hunger for change swept across the nation, a young and charismatic orator by the
name of Adolf Hitler began to gather support in cities and beerhalls across the country (Kershaw). As
his power grew, Hitler began to disregard regulations set into place by the Treaty of Versailles, testing
Britain and France s will to intervene (Deist). By defying the military restrictions imposed on
Germany by the Treaty of Versailles, Adolf Hitler solidified his position as the supreme ruler of
Germany s Third Reich.
During the 1920s and early 1930s, Hitler began encouraging the growth of the German war industry
while also recruiting hundreds of thousands of Nazi Party members to join the ranks of his para
military force, the Sturmabteilung (Robertson). On March 16, 1935, after years of building German
military strength

Bomb Calorimetry Lab Report
Experiment 1: Heats of Formation from Bomb Calorimetry.

Abstract: A bomb calorimeter with the Parr design was used for the apparatus, which would lead to an
experiment to measure temperature in degrees Celsius as time increased. Two different sample pellets
were used, one being benzoic acid while the other was naphthalene. These measured findings were
then used to determine the change in temperature for each experiment, which for benzoic acid...
Introduction:
The purpose of this experiment is to use a high pressure cell calorimeter in order to determine the heat
of combustion for naphthalene and benzoic acid, which are an organic substance. To ensure that heat
wouldn t be leaked out of or into the pail an adiabatic jacket was used. This jacket allows for the
system to match the temperature of the water and the high pressured calorimeter (bomb). The reaction
that will occur inside of the bomb will be held at constant pressure and constant temperature. ... Show

The computers data will show a clear measurement of the temperature in Celsius vs. Seconds. When
dealing with thermodynamics the most useful data collected are the heats of formation of the
compounds used. While trying to measure these quantities, it s especially important to be precise and
at the same time accurate to yield a more promising answer. Measuring the heat of combustion for a
more common compound along with the hydrocarbons in benzoic acid is the best combination when
trying to compare the two. To get a visual refer to (Figure: 1) to understand the set up of the apparatus.

What Is The Success Of The Third Crusade
The Third Crusade is one of the most famous Crusades in history. This essay will examine the success
of this crusade through the perspective of the European force. The Third Crusade was aptly named
because it was the third wave of religious soldiers to travel to the modern day Middle East and wage a
war for the holy city of Jerusalem. There is a certain level of multiple causation that can be gleaned
from the beginnings of this Crusade. First, Richard I had recently become king after his father Henry
of England died in 1188 which may have pushed Richard to do something to prove himself to the
English people. There was also the ceaseless pressure of to reclaim Jerusalem for the Christians,
especially after their recent loss of the city and terrible loss at Hattin. ... Show more content on

The new pope, did not, unlike his predecessors, attempt to have the Church lead this latest Crusade
and instead turned to the three greatest rulers of Europe in 1190, Richard the Lion Hearted of England,
Philip Augustus of France, and Frederick Barbarossa of Germany. Frederick was the first to actually
depart from England for the Holy Land and with him he brought the single largest army to ever march
in the Crusades, a force of tens of thousands. Although this Crusade succeeded in capturing Acre,
Cyprus, and other outer territories, it failed in their main goal which was to capture Jerusalem for the
Christians. Therefore, when considering their primary objective, the Third Crusade was a

Jocasta Suicide
Suicide is a desperate act that makes a strong, but sad, lasting statement. However, from this, a
question arises from this last statement, why do people commit suicide? An answer is found through
the character Jocasta from Sophocles play, Oedipus Rex. Jocasta, both the unfortunate wife and
mother of Oedipus, is a static character. However, she goes through a minor evolution once she
realizes Oedipus is her child. Jocasta s prideful character and revelation of Oedipus birth cause her to
commit suicide.
Jocasta is a prideful character throughout the play and her other characterisitcs combined with her
pride prepare her suicide. Jocasta is shown to be prideful throughout her actions and words throughout
the play. However, pride has a dual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the time period of Oedipus The King, religion holds a strong influence upon state affairs as the
play depicts Oedipus asks for Apollo s guidance early within the play, After a painful search I found
one cure: I acted at once. I sent Creon, my wife s brother, to Delphi Apollo the Prophet s oracle
(Sophocles 80 82). As religion is shown taking part in official affairs, it is also likely to assume that
religion is highly valued in people s daily lives. Once Jocasta realizes she commits incest, it is almost
a damnation from the gods themselves. And combined with how incest is one of the worst religious
sins, adds to the weight of punishment. Also, being damned in the worst degree is expected to hurt
Jocasta s pride and self worth. Moving on, the revelation of Oedipus parentage also causes Jocasta to
feel despair and act erratically during her final moments. Returning to the question proposed in the
introduction regarding why people commit suicide, the answer given within Oedipus The King is that
people commit suicide out of guilt and because it is a just action. Through her final moments, Jocasta
s crazed actions clearly showcase guilt, however, she also believes that suicide is a penance for her
actions. Her constant denial of the prophecy may be interpreted as an act against the gods and in order
to atone for her sins, she would likely commit suicide. Jocasta s suicide was indirectly caused by her
personality, but only triggered once Oedipus birth was revealed as her actions towards him contradict

Raisin In The Sun Allusion
A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry, a novel about the life of a black family in Chicago after
World War II, took an allusion to A Dream Deferred, a poem by Langston Hughes. Therefore the
characters in the play and their dreams share similarities to the simile provided by Hughes. The simile
of a raisin in the sun (2) encounters with Beneatha Younger, a young college student, who dreams of
studying in a medical school but is criticized by her family. The dream seems aggravates the family
conflict, but it represents Beneatha s hope of helping the family.

The hope encounters with the simile, a raisin in the sun (2), which is dry on the surface but sweet in
the core. Beneatha s dislike the poor circumstances of her family and tries to solve it by going to a

She is no longer willing to suffer in poverty. She wants to contribute to the family and improve the
awkward circumstances, with the entire family living in a small apartment, by getting a well earning
job after graduating from medical school. The feeling of powerless and the struggle in life makes her
hates being poor. Beneatha also stops Ruth from giving birth to her new child. Ruth was pregnant, and
Beneatha tells her that it is not the best time to give birth to a new baby. She suggests that it will only
put pressure on the family: Where is he going to live? On the roof? (70, Hansberry).Although
Beneatha s suggestion sounds selfish and disrespectful to the baby, she is trying to think about the
problem from the family s position and suggests that it is not the right time to have a baby. Beneatha is
a character full of conflicts. Under the surface of conflict and argument with her family members, she
has a heart that cares about the family. She is a raisin in the sun who has a kind heart in her core, like

Theu.s. Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform And Consumer...
The pros and cons of many macroeconomic policies are frequently debated. In particular, the
Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act that was signed into law in July of 2010
sparked bitter controversy. Appropriately argued by American Banker s Capitol Hill reporter Victoria
Finkle, Dodd Frank is viewed as either a landmark law that reined in the biggest banks or an economy
crippling overreach that burdened small institutions. The Act intends to tighten financial regulation in
the U.S., hoping to prevent the repeat of another financial crisis. Impetus for Dodd Frank stemmed
from the bailout of financial institutions deemed too big to fail and the moral hazard it created. In
2008, intense pressure fell upon some of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mainly, Dodd Frank equipped the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) with Orderly
Liquidation Authority (OLA) provisions, authorizing the FDIC to safely wind down large and
complex financial firms that are failing. The OLA expects to minimize moral hazard and systemic
risk. Another considerable aspect of Dodd Frank is new rules calling for greater transparency in risky
dealings of exotic financial instruments: derivatives. The aim was to take these transactions out of the
shadows and make them visible to regulators and markets. Dodd Frank also paved the way for
monitoring the insurance industry by establishing a Federal Insurance Office in the Treasury.
Altogether, these were useful steps and tools of Dodd Frank. However, Economist Barry Eichengreen
points out that vesting the Fed with additional regulatory power and responsibility for the stability of
the financial system was a political nonstarter. The recently bailed out AIG was using money provided
by the Fed to pay retention bonuses totaling up to $6.4 million to 73 of its leading employees. Aware
of the bonus payments, the Fed claimed to be powerless in preventing them. Later, a darker fact
revealed that AIG was allowed to pay off obligations to Goldman Sachs using Fed bailout funds. The
Fed knew about these transactions, and even instructed AIG lawyers not to divulge to the Securities
and Exchange Commission (SEC) internal memos authorizing said payments to Goldman Sachs.

A Holistic Business Problem
BUSINESS ETHICS
Provide credible responses to a holistic business problem where industry conditions, business strategy,
financial outcomes, marketing approaches, and human resource management policies must be taken
into account together with considerations of ethics and CSR.
A holistic business problem with ethical implications can occur within the overall proposal process.
Timken, particularly due to its minority position within the European market, has a particular interest
in the operations of Rulmenti Grei. These operations of Rulmenti Grei can provide Timken with
operational efficiencies to better compete with its European counterparts. It is through this desire that
ethical considerations occur. As the case indicates, Rulmenti Grei provides Timken with a broader
more diversified product offering. The European consumer likes to purchase an array of products from
a single provider. This is in stark contrast to the American market that prefers the niche companies
who specify in a particular ball bearing. This contrast in consumer preferences creates ethical issues
for Timken.

Elizabethan Er The Era Of Beauty And Fascination
Elizabethan Era Clothing
The Elizabethan era was an extraordinarily fashion era for both man and women, a time when
everything was changing from the fifteenth century simple dress to extravagant and dramatic styles
which we call Elizabethan fashion. At that time, new styles, modern yet unique fabrics, charm colors,
sharp design and glamor silhouette were evolving. Every layer and piece of Elizabethan outfit was
equally important, from the fancy dress to the smallest details. Definitely, the Elizabethan era was the
time of beauty and fascination. In fact, during the Elizabethan time clothing reflects mood, values and
the person s statue in the society. So fashion at that time was the primary indicator of one s social
statue and the differences in styling between upper class and lower class were noticeable and very
easy distinguished, in terms of fabric, colors, and design.
During the Elizabethan time period, in order to understand a person s life style including clothes, we
must first understand how the society at that time worked. The Elizabethan society was divided into
three classes, first upper class including nobles and royalty, second middle class or hard working class,
and finally lower class or peasants. The availability of fabrics, colors, and designs were extremely
limited for lower class compared to upper class who has unlimited access to a variety of expansive
fabrics and colors. These divisions in clothing were stated in the Sumptuary Laws or also known as

country/rock. After he signed to RCA Records he created a version of classic rock and roll, as his final
development of music. Friedlander calls this the three Rs: roots, rockability, and rock and roll. He
continues on in this passage about Elvis Presley and his early life, and music career. He talks about
Elvis s life such as his relationship with his mother in his early life to his struggles he had later in life.

Dbq Boston Massacre
On March 5, 1770, five English colonists were killed in Boston, Massachusetts, by British soldiers.
This day will forever be known as the Boston Massacre. It all started with a British sentry who was
stationed in Boston. The sentry faced verbal harassment from colonists in the town. Eventually, the
group grew larger, and the British sentry called in eight additional soldiers for backup. The large mob
of colonists began to physically attack the colonists with clubs and other weapons, leading to the
British soldiers to fire on the colonists. The colonists were to blame for the events that occurred on
March 5, 1770, because they verbally tormented the British, threatened them with weapons and
largely outnumbered the British soldiers. First, the colonists were to blame for the Boston Massacre

The Taliban inflicted a reign even more brutal and fundamentalist than that of Hekmatyar. Unlike
Hekmatyar, the Taliban differed in their hopes for a ban on opium, expressly for religious reasons and
likely to suppress the finances of their rival warlords. The Taliban initially implemented an opium ban
after gaining power, but the policy was quickly overturned because they feared a violent uprising by
the masses. After all, an Afghan farmer can make $10,000 a year with opium compared to about $400
a year with legal crops. As a result, Afghanistan remained the primary source for the global heroin
supply. However, the Taliban eventually decided to reinstate the ban on opium in 2000 in hopes that
their government would gain international recognition. Accordingly, the Taliban strictly enforced the
new policy and opium production was reduced by 96% within a year. Consequently, the U.S.
government rewarded the Taliban in May of 2001 with $43 million for their opium elimination efforts.
Peter Dale Scott noted in Drugs, Oil, and War that in 2001, after the Taliban s opium ban, 90% of the
remaining supply was controlled by a U.S. ally, the Northern Alliance. Consequently, the supply of
Afghan opium exploded in the aftermath of 9/11 because the White House was determined not to
make the same mistakes as the Soviets with a wide scale conventional war. This was a war led

Biochemical Reaction Lab
The purpose of this lab is to discover how changes in temperature can affect enzyme activity.
All walks of life, from humans to plants, are living because of biochemical reactions. Biochemical
reactions are processes that occur on a cellular level and are responsible for sustaining life:
Photosynthesis, Cellular Respiration, Digestion, etc. Within these reactions, molecules change their
identity and transform into new molecules. In the middle of these molecular transformations are
enzymes (sites.com).
Mostly made of protein, enzymes help catalyze chemical reactions quicker by lowering the cell s
activation energy to complete a reaction, all while keeping its shape. A molecule or substrate will bind
with an enzyme on its active site and reactants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The prediction of minimum activity occurring in 0° C and a maximum activity in 37° C was also
supported.
Through this lab it is easier to see when enzymes are at their weakest and their strongest. Within the
body an enzyme is most efficient at a comfortable 37° C. For Catalase, its job in a perfect environment
includes breaking down millions of hydrogen peroxide molecules every second (rcsb.org). As the
temperature was increased, the reacting molecule H2O2 gained more kinetic energy, increasing the
rate of bonds with the Catalase molecule and oxygen production.
Every enzyme has its point of no return. During denaturation the enzyme s protein structure collapses
and loses its job specific shape. When this happens, its active site also loses shape; therefore, leaving a
warped or completely disappeared active site for the substrate/reactant to collide and terminating the
enzyme s ability to function (Taylor 2009). With Catalase, its ceiling of temperature was 55° C as its
rate of oxygen production decreased immensely and was less than half measured in 0° C test

The First Police Car Two Way Radio
In early April 1928, a couple of enterprising young patrol officers rigged some glass tubes and copper
wire into the back seat of their Detroit squad car, and changed the very nature of police work
forever(Irving, 2016). The first police car two way radio was a giant leap in terms of technological
advancement which promised to improve the way police could make their neighbourhood s safer.
Gone were the old police phone boxes, as were the foot patrols, it was the end of tradition that had
lasted for over one hundred years. (Harris, 2007) implied that technological advances such as the
telephone and the two way radio helped create the police of today.
In the 21st Century Policing has evolved to incorporate innovative technology to enhance their
effectiveness. Technological innovations have been changing the law enforcement landscape. From
drones to body cameras to GPS tagging systems and thermal imaging technology, advances in law
enforcement technology are making it possible for officials to enhance public safety like never before
(Seaskate Inc. 1998) to remain effective, Police organisations must adapt to the modern world and

How Technology Has Made Braces Faster And More Efficient
Daily, children and adults all over the world flood into orthodontic offices for consultations, routine
management checkups, and the rest. The majority of people in today s age have had or will have
braces at some point in their life. However, most people may not be aware of the downsides to
appliances such as braces. Although advancements in orthodontic technology have made braces faster
and more efficient, they are causing unnecessary stress on ligaments and gene tissue found inside the
mouth because of the new found techniques to speed up tooth movement. To start, there are many
children and adults undergo orthodontic treatment mainly for appearance; however, there are many
health concerns braces and other appliances can fix. Braces for teeth consist of bands connected by
wires and, sometimes, small rubber bands. Orthodontists use braces to correct irregular positioning of
the teeth and jaws ( Specialties of Dentistry 144). Correcting jaw alignment can help improve the pain
felt during biting and other jaw movements. Braces can be applied to one s mouth for any duration of
time ranging anywhere from 8 to 26 months. Orthodontic appliances are designed to fix malocclusions
of the mouth, which literally means bad bite , and can be painful if not treated. Hilton explains, In a
controlled manner, dental appliances gently force teeth to move through the supporting bone to a
desired position. The purpose of the appliances is to correct tooth crowding, overjet or protruding

The Black Rhinoceros By Gonzaga Manzo
History dies with every animal species that becomes extinct. For years the amount African Black
Rhinoceros has been dropping significantly; the problem may be unfixable at this point.
Unfortunately, many animals on earth are facing the same tragedy. These animals are primarily from a
time that no human kept records. They are living, breathing history that will die off because the
superior species could not protect them. In this picture by Gonzaga Manzo, the Black Rhinoceros is
being worked on in an auto shop by two stumped mechanics. They stare puzzled at the large animal,
not being able to see how to fix the problem. Extinction Can t be Fixed is printed in white letters in the
upper right corner, meaning that extinction cannot be reversed with tools found in a repair shop. In
fact, it cannot be reversed at all. Gonzaga Manzo, a Spanish artist, created this image as a part of a
campaign series for the World Wide Fund for Nature for species facing extreme extinction: the Black
rhinoceros. This powerful image was primarily to stop hunting the animals, but also to raise awareness
of the dire situation. The Black Rhinoceros has become extinct in twelve African countries. They are
being hunted for their horn, which is used in certain pain killing drugs and thus is highly sought after.
Furthermore, this is a digitally edited image, which combines real images with digital elements.

Physics Behind Modern 4 Stroke Engines Essay

combustion engines are a very important part of everyday life. We use them in our cars, trucks,
airplanes. boats, snowmachines, 4 wheelers, and heavy machinery. These pages will help familiarize
you with the basic concepts of how an engine works, an understanding of engine output, and some

The chemical equation is as follows.
2 C8H18 (gas) + 25 O2 = 16 CO2 + 18H2O
This equation is representative of a stoichiometric air fuel ratio (14.7:1). However under normal
driving conditions an engine will encounter lean conditions when cruising on the highway (better
milage) and rich conditions when accelerating (better power). The lean condition results in oxide and
harmful nitrogen compound production. Rich conditions result in carbon monoxide production. For
this reason a catalytic converter is used on most larger engines.
The catalyst material in a cat is in a wire mesh or honeycomb. This allows a high surface area to be
exposed to the passing exhaust gasses. The catalyst (typically platinum) converts the harmfull nitrogen
oxides and carbon monoxide into nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and oxygen. Catalytic converters work
best when warm (as the reaction rate increases with temperature) so some car manufacturers are
putting pre cats in the exhaust manifold to convert the gasses while the exhaust system is still warming
up.
That covers the basic function of an engine fron intake to exhaust. Next we will explore the
relationship of Horsepower vs Torque.
Engine output is measured in two ways. The first is a direct measurement of engine output: Torque.
Torque is defined as the amount of mass that can be lifted a certain distance from the center of

Most entities do not have the technological capability to keep track of up to date bitcoin market prices
at the time of bitcoin exchange. Providers such as BitPay or Coinbase have effectively made it easy to

the business that accepts bitcoin are transferring bitcoin to a third party and the third party is

Due to bitcoins nature and the legality of it the IRS has classified it as property and not currency for

Video Game Design as a Career Essay
I was drawn into video game design because I love video games and technology. Playing video games
increased my interest in video game design. I already know having an interest in video games and
knowledge about computers helps while becoming a video game designer. I hope to gain knowledge
about their role in creating a video game, what they do daily, and their income. Video game designers
have a unique role in creating a video game. They create fun by communicating with gamers and
adjust the difficulty or pace based upon their reaction or feedback. They create complex puzzles and
new ways to kill or defeat your opponent to keep you entertained and gradually increase the difficulty
as you progress through the game. They also have to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Video game design is not just playing video games, a lot of stress and hard work is involved. The life
of a videogame designer is not all glamorous. Expect to work long hours, especially towards the end
of the project. The average hours a week are around 40 hours and $28 an hour. In 1999, the average
videogame designer made $35,000 $75,000 a year. The future of videogame design is looking great.
The interest of video games is raising, and a lot bolder audience plays them. Video games have
outgrown many other industries in a short period of time, and have already become a multi billion
dollar industry and rising. I researched a video game designer because I wanted to know about their
role in creating a video game, what they do daily, and their income. A video game designer needs good
communicating skills in order to improve the content of the game. Also, it is not as easy job as it
seems a lot of stress and hard work is involved. Finally, the interest of video games is rising as video
games appeal to a wider audience.

Kendrick Lamar Biography
Kendrick Lamar Duckworth is an American rapper who was born on June 17, 1987 in Compton,
California ( Kendrick Lamar Biography ). Performing as Kendrick Lamar, he has won seven Grammy
awards and has two Platinum albums. Lamar s first major label album, good kid, m.A.A.d city, met
with critical acclaim and within nine months of its release was certified platinum by the RIAA. Good
kid, m.A.A.d city was a commercial success that skyrocketed the rapper s career into super stardom,
the album captivated music purists with an intricate story that unfolded throughout the opus (V.C.).
Kendrick Lamar s third album, To Pimp a Butterfly, slightly deviates from that, instead finishing with
a grittier and deeper product. In the individual songs, Lamar addresses some kind of social problem
ranging from black on black crime to the government s neglect of minorities. Each song is
characterized by its own distinctive concept and, on a larger scale, all the songs are interconnected by
a wider narrative that revolves around Kendrick becoming a celebrity in a system owned by Uncle
Sam and ruled by the evils of Lucy, a personification of Lucifer (V.C.). Critics and fans alike have

Research Paper On Multitasking
Multitasking is a language based centered activity that cannot be done simultaneously. Schoolwork,
texting with friends or watching TV are considered as one language based task. A human s brain can

Social Identity
There are multiple social identities a person holds such as race, sex, class and sexual orientation. In
each society there is typically a group within each of these categories that benefits from their
membership in that group, commonly referred to as the dominant group. Accordingly, there is a group,
or groups, that hurt from not being a part of the dominant group. While there are hundreds of cultures
and societies around the globe, many of the same groups consistently dominate within an identity. An
identity I have that falls under the privileged group within America is being white. The benefits I have
received from being apart of this social group have existed since I first entered school at the age of
four and I continue to benefit from them, under no fault or good behavior of my own. In a previous
Human Relations course I took, we discussed the difference in how dominant and subordinate groups
go about their day to day life. One of the major differences happens around the time a person enters
school. An easy way to generally know if you belong to a privileged group is to ask yourself if you
ever had to be taught about what it means to belong to that group. In other words, who has to be taught
what it means to be born into the body they were born into. As a white person growing up in middle
class, Midwestern America, I was never taught about what it means to be white. This alone is a
privilege because I have been able to live my entire life without ever being

The Proliferation Of Crises Around The World
The proliferation of crises around the world has led to a prominent increase in the fascination, as well
as interest, in the concept of social entrepreneurship . In today s society, this concept has inspired
numerous individuals to pursue a career being social entrepreneur as it promises to solve some of the
world s toughest problems while earning money and gaining social status. That being said, these are
often the individuals/agencies that are exempted from public examination as they are seen doing
valuable work . With that in mind, Daniela Papi Thornton (2016) in her article, Tackling

Consequently, this has led to an era of heropreneurship in which many individuals inspire to become
entrepreneurs who claim that they can solve these problems. Due to its heroic and feel good appeal,
many individuals work towards creating an attractive social enterprise or demand jobs with a social
purpose . Nonetheless, while heropreneurship can be seen as an inspiring and exciting era, there is
room for further improvement. First, due to heropreneurship, the line between quick solutions and
progress has been blurred. While tackling these problems is considered a noble deed and personally
valuable, many individuals are not working towards solving the root of the problems that occur in the
affected countries. Rupert Scofield (2011) in his text, The Social Entrepreneurs Handbook explains
but to really help them, you have to get to know them, walk in their shoes. You would be surprised at
the number of organizations that espouse this or that noble cause in which the personnel seem only
dimly acquainted with the facts on the ground (5). It is apparent that many individuals often prioritize
short term solutions and disguise it as a long term because they do not fully understand all aspects of
the problem. It is important to realize that implementing successful and sustainable solutions involves
hard work. Investigating the root cause of the problem, as well as researching existing solutions and
their strengths and weaknesses is critical when attempting to

Slaughterhouse Five By Kurt Vonnegut
Kurt Vonnegut s book, Slaughterhouse Five, is full of historical context, scientific fiction themes,
modernistic themes, and even emphasizes the idea of free will. But Vonnegut s novel contains one
major theme of the destructiveness of war making the book anti war. Vonnegut uses a variety of
techniques to allude to this theme and he does it well. The combination of his writing style and his use
of humor to degrade the human in the event of war is highly effective in the fact that it causes the
reader to think about war, and how it affects not only soldiers but the innocent people who are caught
in the middle or the people who just do not belong there. Vonnegut does this through various genres of
humor: body humor, black humor, and even the humor in his style of writing. Vonnegut also shows the
lasting effects of the war on people involved through the main character, Billy Pilgrim, and his
journey through life struggling with his PTSD and conflicting philosophies caused by it. Kurt
Vonnegut s novel, Slaughterhouse Five shows the theme of anti war through humor and by Billy
Pilgrim s psychiatric state.
Vonnegut is a humorist in his style of writing. It is his signature style of writing ( So It Goes 3).
Humor can be found in every aspect of his writings and other works of literature. It can especially be
found in his style of writing. Vonnegut uses a very simple, straightforward prose style. (EXPLORING

The years 477 to 431 B.C., saw the city of Athens experiencing a huge growth in intellectual and

This temple was dedicated to the goddess Athena who is the personification of arts and craft. When
construction started on the Parthenon in 447BC, the empire of Athena was at the height pf its power.
Construction on the Parthenon was completed in 432. At that time, the Parthenon represents the
distinct and the noticeable flourishing of Athenian sovereign power, freedom by the devastation of the
Peloponnesian War. Similarly, it stands for the power and influence of the Athenian politician,
Pericles, who advocated for its construction. The Parthenon was designed in the Doric style of
architecture but also have some features from the Ionic and Corinthian style. All four sides of the
temple reflects clarity, reverence, balance, and harmonious proportion. The Parthenon is made up of
freestanding columns on the outside which are thirty four feet tall, with two additional rows of
columns that provide an inner porch. The top portion of the temple is triangular with several sculptors,
including Zeus, Athena, Hera, and the three goddesses. It was painted in bright colors and so was the
sections of the building that were decorated. The east pediment was in honor of the birth of Athena
while the west pediment showcased the contest between Poseidon and Athena for power of Athens.
The inside of the Parthenon is divided into rooms, the cellar which hosts the forty foot statue of

Antonio Vivaldi Four Seasons Concerto
In the 1700s, Antonio Vivaldi composed his highly accredited Four Seasons concerto. The autumn
movement in this concerto follows the allegro adagio allegro pattern. Vivaldi provided sonnets to go
along with each movement to explain what the true meanings are. As a group, we felt it was necessary
to provide all of our reactions to the piece. This allowed us to interpret what each of the others were
visualizing throughout the composition. Some of our opinions may have varied, but overall the
general mood of the piece allowed us each to have the same emotions toward the Autumn movement
of the Four Seasons. For the first allegro movement, the music sounds upbeat, fast, and cheerful. In
the sonnet, Vivaldi explains the townspeople are celebrating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The tempo throughout the song varies from adagio to allegro, but favors the allegro speed in most of
the piece. As most of us have agreed, this specific movement is very repetitive in texture and tone. We
believe repetition is a main them in the song to help the listener get a feel for the piece and help them
memorize it better. As the melody progresses, the tone and volume of the piece make a drastic change.
It slows down as to show the time of year is slowing. No longer are children running and playing
outside, it portrays winter being right around the corner. The tone continues to fall lower, giving the
listener a feel of sorrow, as if death is in the air. The visualization of leaves falling is imprinted in the
listeners mind. Then suddenly, the tempo rapidly picks up and jumps right back into the main chorus,
which is abruptly cut short. The tune firmly begins to build up as it almost lullabies the listener
through the composition, while the volume steadily increases. I can picture myself swaying in the
wind to the cool fall breeze as the sun sets on the warm colors of the fall leaves. Just as the lullaby
seems to pick up in pace, it slowly fades in to the distance. Once again the volume of the piece quickly
increases and has the listener on the edge of their seat as joy fills the air. The pitch jumps from low to
high between each instrument as they begin to

courses have been Pre Calculus and AP United States History 1. I have always been in the highest
math level offered, but math never seemed to be my greatest subject. I found myself doing well on
homework assignments, but would always come short of my personal expectations on the unit tests.

Although this is a controversial novel due to the fact that it contains a number of graphic scenes, I
believe that it puts out a very important message. Throughout this novel, the main character, Lisbeth
Salander, represents an abuse victim who has experienced great tragedy. I appreciate the fact that the
author wrote about an abuse victim and educated the general public on the fact that women do get
abused and sexually mistreated, and that it happens more often than many of us would like to think. It
is important for influential sources, such as novels who reach a large audience, to discuss themes that
are sometimes overlooked. The more people understand that abuse does occur, and frequently, the
larger the awareness will become regarding the situation and abuse victims. This novel also has an
aspect of feminism at times. Larsson created a woman who had been through so much and showed
that not only was she was able to take control of many aspects of her life, but, she was also able to
overcome a multitude of negative relationships. It is very empowering for a woman to read about
another woman standing up for herself and coming out the winner. This book portrays the main
character as a strong female, which I find to be very beneficial in positively influencing a woman s
opinion of herself and her

Surveys and Experiments
Introduction Surveys and experiments can prove to be an extremely valuable tool that organizations
can use to gain pertinent information. In order to effectively utilize these tools firms must pay careful
attention to the design, methodology, and ethical issues of the experiment chosen. Among these issues
are variables in conducting experiments with human subjects, design elements affecting the accuracy
of the experiment, and questions of methodology. The information below addresses each of these
concerns and describes how experiments can become a valuable tool for organizations to plan for the
future. Question 9.4 Ethical Problems in Conducting Experiments with Human Subjects After

researcher should determine beforehand how many positive responses from the survey would indicate
an effective advertisement. Now that the experiment has a design established, it needs participants and
a reporting structure (Cooper Schindler, 2014). In order to not affect the entire population entering the
site, the experiment could use a random assignment of participants for each survey Question 10.5
Choosing a Survey Method Choosing a survey method requires comparing data needs against the
advantages and disadvantages of the methods available in each situation (Cooper Schindler, 2014).
Personal interviews, telephone surveys, and self administered questionnaires all have positives and
negatives in the amount, style, and timeliness of information provided. Therefore, in order to obtain
the needed data, the advantages and disadvantages of each method should be considered, such as in

Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman
The arrest of Joaquin El Chapo Guzman was a victorious circumstance for the Mexican government,
who have been closing down on his presence for the recent past years. Mexican authorities began

On February 22, 2014, the world s most wanted man had also been captured. Although the biggest
drug lord has been captured, the crime and violence left behind cannot be forgotten. Joaquin El Chapo
Guzman Loera was born on April 4, 1957 in Sinaloa, Mexico. He was born into a poor family in a

In the late 1970 s, Guzman worked under the drug lord Hector El Guero Palma by transporting
narcotics near U.S. Mexico border through aircraft. Although Guzman s rank in the cartel was very
minimal, he took his job very seriously. For example, if any of his drug shipments were not on
schedule, he would kill the smuggler himself usually letting them experience a slow and painful death.
Business partners quickly learned that ripping Guzman off or betraying him was not an option. The
way Guzman handled business helped him gain popularity. In the 1980 s, the dominant Guadalajara
Cartel introduced him to Felix Gallardo, one of Mexico s high ranked drug lords. Guzman began
working for Gallardo as a chauffeur then quickly moved up in the business with the role of
coordinating drug shipments from Columbia to Mexico through land, air, and sea. Palma on the other
hand delivered his drugs into the United States. Guzman earned himself a lot of respect for his work
and began working for Gallardo directly. Throughout the late 70 s and early 80 s, Mexico drug
traffickers were the middlemen for Columbian drug trafficking groups. They would simply transport
drugs into the U.S. and receive a fee for each kilogram. At this point Gallardo was the top drug
kingpin in Mexico. When Gallardo was arrested, Guzman reportedly lived in Guadalajara, Jalisco. He

Immigration Essay
My thoughts on Immigration Submitted by: Dhara Shah The major reason people emigrate from their
homelands is better future aspects such as better financial stability, better working hours and better
living standards. Despite all these opportunities, there are many issues that immigrants face while
trying to obtain the equality in their status quo. Some of these issues are different visa levels, job
insecurities, racial discrimination, language problems and cultural barriers that each and every
immigrant has to cope up with. Initially, all immigrants face cultural clashes and have difficulty in

Hence, many immigrants land up doing menial tasks and highly underpaid jobs at gas stations,
provision stores, motels, bakeries, cleaning beauty salons or waiting upon tables in restaurants. You
see huge crowds of people every morning at places like Home Depots where people come with only
one hope work... They are ready to do any job for a meager amount of money. With the economic
recession looming at large, they prefer to have some income rather than go home with empty hands
and starved stomachs. And for illegal immigrants, the situation is even worse. They cannot legally
sign a lease or rent an apartment, cannot have an access to bank accounts and are not eligible to get
any kind of insurance. Even after getting an underpaid job, there is no guarantee that they would be
paid for their work done because if the employer does not pay them, what can they do?? They cannot
report the employer to the police as without any documents, they have no basis to fight for their rights.
They constantly live in the fear of getting deported to their home country. Many a times, they do not
approach a doctor for diagnosing their illness only because they are afraid that they might not be
treated because there are no official records in the US health department; not to mention that they
cannot afford the exorbitant fees of the doctors. These immigrants can never visit their home country

  • 2. Impact Of Rearmament And Remilitarization Rearmament and Remilitarization Hitler s Path to Power The strongest military power in Europe. On April 2, 1936, this haunting description of the strength of Nazi Germany was made by Louis Maurin, the French Minister of War at the time (Deist). 18 years earlier, the allied powers had crippled German military strength, limited the size of her standing army to 100,000 men, prohibited the manufacturing of arms, and virtually liquidated the German Navy and Air Force after their defeat in World War I (Britannica). For years, Germany and her people suffered under devastating financial crises and debilitating terms stipulated in the Treaty of Versailles. As frustration and a hunger for change swept across the nation, a young and charismatic orator by the name of Adolf Hitler began to gather support in cities and beerhalls across the country (Kershaw). As his power grew, Hitler began to disregard regulations set into place by the Treaty of Versailles, testing Britain and France s will to intervene (Deist). By defying the military restrictions imposed on Germany by the Treaty of Versailles, Adolf Hitler solidified his position as the supreme ruler of Germany s Third Reich. During the 1920s and early 1930s, Hitler began encouraging the growth of the German war industry while also recruiting hundreds of thousands of Nazi Party members to join the ranks of his para military force, the Sturmabteilung (Robertson). On March 16, 1935, after years of building German military strength ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Layaoen, Tanner Dickerson, Alexander Schaffer 09/12/2014 Abstract: A bomb calorimeter with the Parr design was used for the apparatus, which would lead to an experiment to measure temperature in degrees Celsius as time increased. Two different sample pellets were used, one being benzoic acid while the other was naphthalene. These measured findings were then used to determine the change in temperature for each experiment, which for benzoic acid... Introduction: The purpose of this experiment is to use a high pressure cell calorimeter in order to determine the heat of combustion for naphthalene and benzoic acid, which are an organic substance. To ensure that heat wouldn t be leaked out of or into the pail an adiabatic jacket was used. This jacket allows for the system to match the temperature of the water and the high pressured calorimeter (bomb). The reaction that will occur inside of the bomb will be held at constant pressure and constant temperature. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The computers data will show a clear measurement of the temperature in Celsius vs. Seconds. When dealing with thermodynamics the most useful data collected are the heats of formation of the compounds used. While trying to measure these quantities, it s especially important to be precise and at the same time accurate to yield a more promising answer. Measuring the heat of combustion for a more common compound along with the hydrocarbons in benzoic acid is the best combination when trying to compare the two. • 4. What Is The Success Of The Third Crusade The Third Crusade is one of the most famous Crusades in history. This essay will examine the success of this crusade through the perspective of the European force. The Third Crusade was aptly named because it was the third wave of religious soldiers to travel to the modern day Middle East and wage a war for the holy city of Jerusalem. There is a certain level of multiple causation that can be gleaned from the beginnings of this Crusade. First, Richard I had recently become king after his father Henry of England died in 1188 which may have pushed Richard to do something to prove himself to the English people. There was also the ceaseless pressure of to reclaim Jerusalem for the Christians, especially after their recent loss of the city and terrible loss at Hattin. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The new pope, did not, unlike his predecessors, attempt to have the Church lead this latest Crusade and instead turned to the three greatest rulers of Europe in 1190, Richard the Lion Hearted of England, Philip Augustus of France, and Frederick Barbarossa of Germany. Frederick was the first to actually depart from England for the Holy Land and with him he brought the single largest army to ever march in the Crusades, a force of tens of thousands. Although this Crusade succeeded in capturing Acre, Cyprus, and other outer territories, it failed in their main goal which was to capture Jerusalem for the Christians. Therefore, when considering their primary objective, the Third Crusade was a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Jocasta Suicide Suicide is a desperate act that makes a strong, but sad, lasting statement. However, from this, a question arises from this last statement, why do people commit suicide? An answer is found through the character Jocasta from Sophocles play, Oedipus Rex. Jocasta, both the unfortunate wife and mother of Oedipus, is a static character. However, she goes through a minor evolution once she realizes Oedipus is her child. Jocasta s prideful character and revelation of Oedipus birth cause her to commit suicide. Jocasta is a prideful character throughout the play and her other characterisitcs combined with her pride prepare her suicide. Jocasta is shown to be prideful throughout her actions and words throughout the play. However, pride has a dual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the time period of Oedipus The King, religion holds a strong influence upon state affairs as the play depicts Oedipus asks for Apollo s guidance early within the play, After a painful search I found one cure: I acted at once. I sent Creon, my wife s brother, to Delphi Apollo the Prophet s oracle (Sophocles 80 82). As religion is shown taking part in official affairs, it is also likely to assume that religion is highly valued in people s daily lives. Once Jocasta realizes she commits incest, it is almost a damnation from the gods themselves. And combined with how incest is one of the worst religious sins, adds to the weight of punishment. Also, being damned in the worst degree is expected to hurt Jocasta s pride and self worth. Moving on, the revelation of Oedipus parentage also causes Jocasta to feel despair and act erratically during her final moments. Returning to the question proposed in the introduction regarding why people commit suicide, the answer given within Oedipus The King is that people commit suicide out of guilt and because it is a just action. Through her final moments, Jocasta s crazed actions clearly showcase guilt, however, she also believes that suicide is a penance for her actions. Her constant denial of the prophecy may be interpreted as an act against the gods and in order to atone for her sins, she would likely commit suicide. Jocasta s suicide was indirectly caused by her personality, but only triggered once Oedipus birth was revealed as her actions towards him contradict her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Raisin In The Sun Allusion A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry, a novel about the life of a black family in Chicago after World War II, took an allusion to A Dream Deferred, a poem by Langston Hughes. Therefore the characters in the play and their dreams share similarities to the simile provided by Hughes. The simile of a raisin in the sun (2) encounters with Beneatha Younger, a young college student, who dreams of studying in a medical school but is criticized by her family. The dream seems aggravates the family conflict, but it represents Beneatha s hope of helping the family. Beneatha s dislike the poor circumstances of her family and tries to solve it by going to a medical school : It makes just as much sense as disliking people cause they are poor (50, Hansberry). She is no longer willing to suffer in poverty. She wants to contribute to the family and improve the awkward circumstances, with the entire family living in a small apartment, by getting a well earning job after graduating from medical school. The feeling of powerless and the struggle in life makes her hates being poor. Beneatha also stops Ruth from giving birth to her new child. Ruth was pregnant, and Beneatha tells her that it is not the best time to give birth to a new baby. She suggests that it will only put pressure on the family: Where is he going to live? On the roof? (70, Hansberry).Although Beneatha s suggestion sounds selfish and disrespectful to the baby, she is trying to think about the problem from the family s position and suggests that it is not the right time to have a baby. • 7. Theu.s. Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform And Consumer... The pros and cons of many macroeconomic policies are frequently debated. In particular, the Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act that was signed into law in July of 2010 sparked bitter controversy. Appropriately argued by American Banker s Capitol Hill reporter Victoria Finkle, Dodd Frank is viewed as either a landmark law that reined in the biggest banks or an economy crippling overreach that burdened small institutions. The Act intends to tighten financial regulation in the U.S., hoping to prevent the repeat of another financial crisis. Impetus for Dodd Frank stemmed from the bailout of financial institutions deemed too big to fail and the moral hazard it created. In 2008, intense pressure fell upon some of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mainly, Dodd Frank equipped the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) with Orderly Liquidation Authority (OLA) provisions, authorizing the FDIC to safely wind down large and complex financial firms that are failing. The OLA expects to minimize moral hazard and systemic risk. Another considerable aspect of Dodd Frank is new rules calling for greater transparency in risky dealings of exotic financial instruments: derivatives. The aim was to take these transactions out of the shadows and make them visible to regulators and markets. Dodd Frank also paved the way for monitoring the insurance industry by establishing a Federal Insurance Office in the Treasury. Altogether, these were useful steps and tools of Dodd Frank. However, Economist Barry Eichengreen points out that vesting the Fed with additional regulatory power and responsibility for the stability of the financial system was a political nonstarter. The recently bailed out AIG was using money provided by the Fed to pay retention bonuses totaling up to $6.4 million to 73 of its leading employees. Aware of the bonus payments, the Fed claimed to be powerless in preventing them. Later, a darker fact revealed that AIG was allowed to pay off obligations to Goldman Sachs using Fed bailout funds. The Fed knew about these transactions, and even instructed AIG lawyers not to divulge to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) internal memos authorizing said payments to Goldman Sachs. ... • 8. A Holistic Business Problem BUSINESS ETHICS Provide credible responses to a holistic business problem where industry conditions, business strategy, financial outcomes, marketing approaches, and human resource management policies must be taken into account together with considerations of ethics and CSR. A holistic business problem with ethical implications can occur within the overall proposal process. Timken, particularly due to its minority position within the European market, has a particular interest in the operations of Rulmenti Grei. These operations of Rulmenti Grei can provide Timken with operational efficiencies to better compete with its European counterparts. It is through this desire that ethical considerations occur. As the case indicates, Rulmenti Grei provides Timken with a broader more diversified product offering. The European consumer likes to purchase an array of products from a single provider. This is in stark contrast to the American market that prefers the niche companies who specify in a particular ball bearing. This contrast in consumer preferences creates ethical issues for Timken. For one, in order to better position itself in the bidding process. Management may overstate or over emphasize the financial prowess of the company. • 9. Elizabethan Er The Era Of Beauty And Fascination Elizabethan Era Clothing The Elizabethan era was an extraordinarily fashion era for both man and women, a time when everything was changing from the fifteenth century simple dress to extravagant and dramatic styles which we call Elizabethan fashion. At that time, new styles, modern yet unique fabrics, charm colors, sharp design and glamor silhouette were evolving. Every layer and piece of Elizabethan outfit was equally important, from the fancy dress to the smallest details. Definitely, the Elizabethan era was the time of beauty and fascination. In fact, during the Elizabethan time clothing reflects mood, values and the person s statue in the society. So fashion at that time was the primary indicator of one s social statue and the differences in styling between upper class and lower class were noticeable and very easy distinguished, in terms of fabric, colors, and design. During the Elizabethan time period, in order to understand a person s life style including clothes, we must first understand how the society at that time worked. The Elizabethan society was divided into three classes, first upper class including nobles and royalty, second middle class or hard working class, and finally lower class or peasants. The availability of fabrics, colors, and designs were extremely limited for lower class compared to upper class who has unlimited access to a variety of expansive fabrics and colors. He began listening to a wide variety of music in his first developmental period of music. He transitioned into the specifics of blues, R B, gospel and country/rock. After he signed to RCA Records he created a version of classic rock and roll, as his final development of music. Friedlander calls this the three Rs: roots, rockability, and rock and roll. It all started with a British sentry who was stationed in Boston. The sentry faced verbal harassment from colonists in the town. Eventually, the group grew larger, and the British sentry called in eight additional soldiers for backup. The large mob of colonists began to physically attack the colonists with clubs and other weapons, leading to the British soldiers to fire on the colonists. The colonists were to blame for the events that occurred on March 5, 1770, because they verbally tormented the British, threatened them with weapons and largely outnumbered the British soldiers. First, the colonists were to blame for the Boston Massacre because they verbally tormented the British. The colonists even tricked the British into firing on them by telling the soldiers to fire. However, in 2015 LA Weekly was the first to print the full extent of Hector Berrellez s accusations. According to Berrellez, his sources explicitly named the infamous CIA agent, Félix Rodríguez, as the man who ordered the murder. The Taliban initially implemented an opium ban after gaining power, but the policy was quickly overturned because they feared a violent uprising by the masses. After all, an Afghan farmer can make $10,000 a year with opium compared to about $400 a year with legal crops. As a result, Afghanistan remained the primary source for the global heroin supply. However, the Taliban eventually decided to reinstate the ban on opium in 2000 in hopes that their government would gain international recognition. Accordingly, the Taliban strictly enforced the new policy and opium production was reduced by 96% within a year. Consequently, the U.S. government rewarded the Taliban in May of 2001 with $43 million for their opium elimination efforts. Peter Dale Scott noted in Drugs, Oil, and War that in 2001, after the Taliban s opium ban, 90% of the remaining supply was controlled by a U.S. ally, the Northern Alliance. Consequently, the supply of Afghan opium exploded in the aftermath of 9/11 because the White House was determined not to make the same mistakes as the Soviets with a wide scale conventional war. • 13. Biochemical Reaction Lab The purpose of this lab is to discover how changes in temperature can affect enzyme activity. All walks of life, from humans to plants, are living because of biochemical reactions. Biochemical reactions are processes that occur on a cellular level and are responsible for sustaining life: Photosynthesis, Cellular Respiration, Digestion, etc. Within these reactions, molecules change their identity and transform into new molecules. In the middle of these molecular transformations are enzymes (sites.com). Mostly made of protein, enzymes help catalyze chemical reactions quicker by lowering the cell s activation energy to complete a reaction, all while keeping its shape. A molecule or substrate will bind with an enzyme on its active site and reactants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The prediction of minimum activity occurring in 0° C and a maximum activity in 37° C was also supported. Through this lab it is easier to see when enzymes are at their weakest and their strongest. Within the body an enzyme is most efficient at a comfortable 37° C. For Catalase, its job in a perfect environment includes breaking down millions of hydrogen peroxide molecules every second (rcsb.org). As the temperature was increased, the reacting molecule H2O2 gained more kinetic energy, increasing the rate of bonds with the Catalase molecule and oxygen production. Every enzyme has its point of no return. During denaturation the enzyme s protein structure collapses and loses its job specific shape. When this happens, its active site also loses shape; therefore, leaving a warped or completely disappeared active site for the substrate/reactant to collide and terminating the enzyme s ability to function (Taylor 2009). With Catalase, its ceiling of temperature was 55° C as its rate of oxygen production decreased immensely and was less than half measured in 0° C test ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The First Police Car Two Way Radio In early April 1928, a couple of enterprising young patrol officers rigged some glass tubes and copper wire into the back seat of their Detroit squad car, and changed the very nature of police work forever(Irving, 2016). The first police car two way radio was a giant leap in terms of technological advancement which promised to improve the way police could make their neighbourhood s safer. Gone were the old police phone boxes, as were the foot patrols, it was the end of tradition that had lasted for over one hundred years. In the 21st Century Policing has evolved to incorporate innovative technology to enhance their effectiveness. Technological innovations have been changing the law enforcement landscape. From drones to body cameras to GPS tagging systems and thermal imaging technology, advances in law enforcement technology are making it possible for officials to enhance public safety like never before (Seaskate Inc. 1998) to remain effective, Police organisations must adapt to the modern world and embrace change. The majority of people in today s age have had or will have braces at some point in their life. However, most people may not be aware of the downsides to appliances such as braces. Although advancements in orthodontic technology have made braces faster and more efficient, they are causing unnecessary stress on ligaments and gene tissue found inside the mouth because of the new found techniques to speed up tooth movement. To start, there are many children and adults undergo orthodontic treatment mainly for appearance; however, there are many health concerns braces and other appliances can fix. Braces for teeth consist of bands connected by wires and, sometimes, small rubber bands. Orthodontists use braces to correct irregular positioning of the teeth and jaws ( Specialties of Dentistry 144). Correcting jaw alignment can help improve the pain felt during biting and other jaw movements. Braces can be applied to one s mouth for any duration of time ranging anywhere from 8 to 26 months. Orthodontic appliances are designed to fix malocclusions of the mouth, which literally means bad bite , and can be painful if not treated. For years the amount African Black Rhinoceros has been dropping significantly; the problem may be unfixable at this point. Unfortunately, many animals on earth are facing the same tragedy. These animals are primarily from a time that no human kept records. They are living, breathing history that will die off because the superior species could not protect them. In this picture by Gonzaga Manzo, the Black Rhinoceros is being worked on in an auto shop by two stumped mechanics. They stare puzzled at the large animal, not being able to see how to fix the problem. Extinction Can t be Fixed is printed in white letters in the upper right corner, meaning that extinction cannot be reversed with tools found in a repair shop. In fact, it cannot be reversed at all. Gonzaga Manzo, a Spanish artist, created this image as a part of a campaign series for the World Wide Fund for Nature for species facing extreme extinction: the Black rhinoceros. This powerful image was primarily to stop hunting the animals, but also to raise awareness of the dire situation. The Black Rhinoceros has become extinct in twelve African countries. We use them in our cars, trucks, airplanes. boats, snowmachines, 4 wheelers, and heavy machinery. These pages will help familiarize you with the basic concepts of how an engine works, an understanding of engine output, and some information on how forced induction or boost increases power output. However under normal driving conditions an engine will encounter lean conditions when cruising on the highway (better milage) and rich conditions when accelerating (better power). The lean condition results in oxide and harmful nitrogen compound production. Rich conditions result in carbon monoxide production. For this reason a catalytic converter is used on most larger engines. The catalyst material in a cat is in a wire mesh or honeycomb. This allows a high surface area to be exposed to the passing exhaust gasses. The catalyst (typically platinum) converts the harmfull nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide into nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and oxygen. Catalytic converters work best when warm (as the reaction rate increases with temperature) so some car manufacturers are putting pre cats in the exhaust manifold to convert the gasses while the exhaust system is still warming up. That covers the basic function of an engine fron intake to exhaust. Next we will explore the relationship of Horsepower vs Torque. Engine output is measured in two ways. The first is a direct measurement of engine output: Torque. Torque is defined as the amount of mass that can be lifted a certain distance from the center of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These immigrants can never visit their home country ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
