Unknown Organic Compounds Lab Report
Identification of Unknown Organic Compounds by Melting Point, Boiling Point, Infrared and
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Background and Method In the previous labs we were
experimenting with different methods so that we can find different physical properties of the
known compound. However, this lab report is a little different as it gives us two unknown
compounds where we have to use the prior knowledge we have gotten in the other labs to ensure
that we know exactly how to ultimately find the correct molecular structure of the unknown
compounds. Therefore in this lab, we had to perform elemental analysis, boiling point, infrared
(IR), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopies (NMR) and melting point. Thus, the main
objective of this lab was to ensure that the students knew how apply the techniques from the
previous labs and interpret the spectroscopy data to formulate the correct structure of the
compound. We were assigned G and H. G was the solid and H was the liquid unknown compound.
That being said the first step was the elemental analysis. Thus, the very first step was the

The theory for the melting point is that it helps with the indication of how pure a substance is,
also it helps in figuring out the melting point of the purer substances, sharper melting points
belong to more pure substances (Online Labs). Also melting points can be affected by the size of
the molecule and intermolecular forces (Online Labs). Melting point was measured using the
melting point apparatus. That being said it is very important to ensure that there is minimal
impurities or the apparatus is not overly heated, this will lead to inaccurate data as it will give the
wrong readings (Landrie, 193). The best way to ensure that the most accurate measurement is
gotten to cool the apparatus to 10 15 degree Celsius then taking the measured when it is heated to 1

Annotated In The Sage Of Theare
In The Sage of Theare , a child, Thasper is born, and is prophesized to be the Sage of
Dissolution, a title that is much unwanted in the world because it brings disorder. Thasper is
transferred to a different world to grow up in but once he hears of stories about the Sage of
Dissolution, he travels to learn more about this mysterious character. Although The Sage of Theare
takes place in a fictional world, Diana Wynne Jonescreates a world of order by using diction, as
well as personal experiences to bring light to how current society mimics the social context of the
story.
The world on Earth is constructed very differently from the world of Theare but the people that
reside in both worlds have the same tendencies to want order. On Earth, ... Show more content on

In an interview that she had, she said, The Sage of Theare started because I remembered, or
thought I remembered, a story by Borges being read on the radio, in which a scholar arduously
tracked down a learned man but never quite found him. I started having dreams about it strange
circular dreams in a strange city where gods took a hand and the dream person never found the
wise man he was looking for. In order to exorcise the dreams, I wrote the story. Here, the rhetor s
original purpose of writing this story was to get rid of her strange dreams. However, this adds
on to the idea that people are uncomfortable with disorder because her strange dreams deviate
from the norm and she wants it to disappear. This is similar to the story because the gods that
live in Theare hate disorder. Also, because the rhetor wrote this in the time that she did, many
events that occurred during the 1980s in Britain might have influenced the way she wrote this
story and why she wrote it. As mentioned previously, Britain experienced political unrest during
this time. There were many riots sparked by racial tensions, local problems, and poor relations
between predominantly black communities and the police. There was also conflict in prisons as
prisoners started a hunger strike to protest the right to be treated as political prisoners, resulting in
61 deaths. Not only that, economic recession in Britain during this time resulted in high
unemployment rates of up to three million unemployed citizens. Because Diana Wynne Jones
wrote The Sage of Theare during this time, the story reflects some aspects of these events. For
example, the world of Theare is crafted to be a utopian society, a world of order where there is no
chaos. The rhetor might have chosen to depict Theare in this way as a distraction from what is
actually going on in the real world. In this fantasy world, everything

Difference Between John Smith And William Bradford s Journals
John Smith and William Bradford were two authors of the 1600s, who wrote journals about the
the way they lived in the New World. John Smith s journal was filled with adventure and talked
about how heroic he was to persuade people to come to America. William Bradford s journal was
about his voyage to coming to America and his spiritual teachings and beliefs. The three main
difference between John Smith and William Bradford s Journals are their styles of writing,
preconceived notion of the Native Americans, and their reasons for coming into America.

Examples Of Being A Fanatic Essay
Fan or fanatic Being a fan means a person who has a strong interest in or admiration for a
particular person or thing . A fanatic is a person filled with excessive and single minded zeal,
especially for an extreme religious or political cause. Being a fan is better than being a fanatic
because being a fanatic seems a little obsessive and people could get the wrong idea about
someone. Many people do not know the difference between the two. There are more fans than
fanatics. A fanloves whatever it is they are a fan of. If it s a band, a tv show, a celebrity, etc. they

The Return Of Martin Guerre Essay
Introduction The Tale of Martin Guerre has been retold throughout history in the forms of; a play,
movie and a book. What makes this story so interesting is due to the fact that it stems from a real
life peasant court case which occurred in the 16th century. In the case, a man by the name of
Arnaud du Tilh takes the identity of a middle class family man by the name of Martin Guerre. He
manages to take on the persona of Martin Guerre for a period of three years where he manages to
both; increase the Guerre family estate, and father a child with Martin s wife, Bertrande de Rols.
What helped Arnaud steal Martin s identity was due to the fact that the real Martin Guerre had left
his wife and family eight years prior to Arnaud arriving in the French village of Aritigat. Twentieth
Century historians Natalie Zemon Davisand Robert Finlay have attempted to provide historical
reasoning for why the case of Martin Guerre became so popular. As this essay will show; both
historians were constrained to the same archival evidence; however they used different methods of
interpretation to come up... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

result, Davis wrote The Return of Martin Guerre using her own interpretations based on the
archival evidence she collected. Davis ultimate goal was to ensure that her book was easily
accessible to all audiences and therefore, she catered to different groups of people through her
choice of detail, literary voice, and metaphor as by topical analysis . By writing about how people

The Invocation of Moral Codes in Richard III Essay
Shakespeare s Richard III is from the outset a very moral play. It opens with an introduction to
the character of Richard in his Now is the winter... speech. In this we are first introduced to the
idea of a man becoming evil from his own free will, excused (by him) on the grounds of his
inability to fit in with the physical ideals of society, saying, And therefore, since I cannot prove a
lover... I am determined to prove a villain. Although we are not, at this point, given a definite
indication of Shakespeare s opinion on this moralposition, it is the opening for a discussion on what
is morally acceptable, which is continued quite decisively throughout the play.
The character of Richard is the ideal tool for this purpose. He is ... Show more content on

Buckingham indeed becomes resigned to his impending doom, saying, as he is lead off to the
block, Come, sirs, convey me to the block of shame. /Wrong hath but wrong, and blame the due
of blame. This calmness and resignation upon the point of his death show that Buckingham at
least is not so caught up in immorality as to take his death as other than just punishment for his
crimes. Hastings, too, goes quietly to the block, regretting his ignoble triumphing over his slain
enemies, Lords Rivers, Grey and Vaughan. Of these three, Vaughan is silent, Grey believes his
death to be in retribution For standing by when Richard stabbed her [Margaret s] son , and
Rivers prays for my sister and her princely sons, Be satisfied, dear God, with our true
bloods...Which, as thou knowest, unjustly must be spilt. From these, we see both a recognition of
some past misdeed for which they are being punished, and a touching request that they may be the
sacrifice to keep the grieving queen and the heir safe. This last minute resignation and
remembrance of others who may be in danger indicates a last ditch courage, and an acceptance of
what the world s moral judgement (spoken through Margaret) would be.
Retribution is a key issue throughout the play. All those who commit crimes are eventually
punished, and Richard can be seen as the tool of retribution, as it is through his scheming

The Three Strikes Laws For Repeat Criminal Offenders
On an everyday basis, how is the three strikes law affecting people in New Mexico? The three
strikes law is one of the most modernized laws in the criminal justice system of the United States,
where it has been created in the efforts to reduce and prevent crimes in the states especially for
required sentencing laws for repeat criminal offenders. In 2003, more than half of the United
States had adopted the three strikes law; in addition, the law is raised when criminals have
committed their third felonies. Therefore, these laws execute a harsher penalty of a minimum of
25 years of a life sentence for criminals who have committed a crimefor the third time even though
their crimes that are not evil. There were many arguments raised when many of the criminals
were sent to prison for 25 years for a very small crime such as petty theft. Many of the people in
the United States argued that a 25 year prison is very similar to the punishment for committing
murder. In 2013, according to The Washington Times Newspaper by associated press, Santa Fe,
N.M. (AP) house majority leader Nate Gentry argues that New Mexico is the second most
dangerous state in the nation as far as violent crime goes (press). This is the result based on the

most public high school coaches need to meet these state requirements in order to become a coach,
certification may not be required for coaching and sports instructor jobs in private schools. Some
schools may require coaches to have a teaching license and complete a background check.
Certification requirements for college coaching positions also vary. Additional certification may
be highly desirable or even required in order to become an instructor in scuba diving, tennis, golf,
karate, or other individual sports. There are many certifying organizations specific to the various
sports, and their requirements vary. To reach the ranks of professional coaches, a candidate
usually needs years of coaching experience and a winning record at a college. Some coaches may

Murder Mysteries Essay
How Far Are The Speckled Band And Lamb To The Slaughter Typical Of
Murder Mysteries? How Are The Stories The Same And How Are They
Different? Compare The Ways In Which The Stories Are Told
Murder mystery usually means where there is a murder involving money, love or revenge. The
victim s friend or a family member goes to a detective and tells them what they know about the
murder and the suspects and where they were, and what they were doing at that time.
There are a lot of famous detectives in books, TV and video for example; Sherlock Holmes,

I also studied The Three Garridebs in which there is no murder, which is very weird even though
it is a murder mystery, there is a mystery but it is connected to money. There is no victim in it but
the villain is the main character and he is very cunning and Conan Doyle makes him come out as
the victim the one who needs help when he doesn t and the main setting is in Birmingham and
Conan Doyle doesn t describe it.
The similarities are that both the detectives are male and each had partners. The motive of the
murder in Lamb to the Slaughter is anger and in The Speckled Band it is money. The murder in the
Lamb to the
Slaughter involves an unusual murder weapon, a frozen leg of lamb.
One of the detectives, Sherlock Holmes is a professional and doesn t trust anyone or anything and
investigates extremely thoroughly. The other detective doesn t do his job well; he drinks on the
job, and consumes the meal, which is the evidence. One of the villains is Mary
Maloney, who wasn t expecting to kill her husband, it was just unfortunate that he said something to
make her really mad. The other villain, Dr Grimesby Roylott wants all the money to himself so he
kills Julia and attempts to kill Helen.
These Stories are different because of the weapons; a leg of lamb and a snake and also the language
is very old and archaic in The Speckled
Band . But in other respects they are similar to ones I have heard

Native Americans a Marginalized Population

Native Americans: A Marginalized Population Over the course of time in our country, many groups
in our society have experienced being set apart from sustainable communities. Among them are the
immigrants, the homeless, the African Americans, those with physical or mental disabilities and
the Native Americans. According to McIntosh (1988), Whites are taught to think of their lives as
morally neutral, normative, and average, and also ideal, so that we work to benefit others, this is

Although, every marginalized population has the potential to be denied access to opportunities,
there are some groups likely to experience deprivation solely based on color. Martin Luther King
Jr. (1963) states, When you have to concoct an answer for a five year old son asking in agonizing
pathos: Daddy, why do white people treat colored people so mean? ; when you take a cross
country drive and find it necessary to sleep night after night in the uncomfortable corners of
your automobile because no motel will accept you; when you are humiliated day in and day out
by nagging signs reading white men and colored . (p. 4) Throughout the centuries the White
people have been known to think of themselves as being superior because of their color. If we
look back at the time when the White Europeans came to this country they saw no reason to apply
rules of honor to people they considered savages because they looked and acted different. Some
might call this kind of thinking Social Darwinism where the White race is superior and destined to
rule over all others. Clearly, the Native Americans were discriminated because of their color, which
resulted in economic deprivation. However, now they play a huge role in our communities.
Although while some Native American Tribes may benefit financially because of the casinos, most
have the worst standard of living in the United States.

Class and hierarchy brings order into the social system. Rules, regulations and order provide

The life at Twenties really this wonderful? Or actually there s a lot of hard things behind the

This era is after the World War One, there s not only a synonym for this time. At this time, Jazz

China s Aging Population And The Hukou System
The selection of blog entries is an important process involving the need to thoroughly take into
account the subject topic and accordingly carry out the review of the topic. The blogs are means
to represent the idea in brief in order to make it clear for understanding by the reader. The blog
should not be formed of complex set of words, which are tough to understand by the reader.
Instead, the precise description in an easy language should be carried out in order to benefit the
reader by adding to their knowledge. Thus, two blogs have been written here titled as China s aging
population, and The Hukou system . Each of these has been described in the context of the topic so
as to make them clear and precise enough to the reader.
The blog titled China s aging population describes how the increase in population is a growing
concern for the country. The reason for selection of this topic is to explore how the increase in
aged population of China is causing an impact on the country s economic system. The increase
in population is a serious issue of concern, which is well controlled by the government through
introducing one child policy (Peilin, 2015). This parameter has however resulted into several
side effects such as increase in aged people in the country. As a result of this, the expenses
associated with elderly people is also increasing, which is an interesting area focused in the blog. It
was rather a good choice of topic as it helped in exploring how the increase

Primordial and Modernist Schooling
Primordial school Primordial school and modernist school are two very important main streams in
identity study. Especially, in the national identity study, both of them have involved the study of
nationalism and have a very unlike view of it. And they are often highly debated of the origins of
nations and their identity. The root of primordial school is originally based on the German
romanticism and it mainly argues how those fixed factors influence in identity shape process.
Those factors are constantly stable throughout the history and hardly changed. The factors have
been passed on to generations and constructing the identity of people who lives in nowadays. For
example, language is one of these elements. Language is unique and distinct from other ones.
People who speak this language will have their own identity and formed a special group which
makes them different from other language speaking groups. And in primordial school idea, same
language speaking group will result in similar thought. Because of people learn language from the
community where they live and each community will has its thought or behavior. These will
transmit to people who learn that language. Therefore, for primordial school language is one of the
key elements in identity shaping. Another pivotal and principle factor for shaping identity is the
kinship. Primordial school argues that people joining into groups by their blood or genetic
relationship with each other. Family members will gather and

My Personal Philosophy Of Classroom Management Plan
Classroom Management Plan
A well organized classroom management plan will be effective in creating a positive classroom
environment which can help to activate students motivations and facilitate students learning. This
classroom management plan is designed for a Stage 4 class, Year 8 3 in Mackenzie Secondary
College.
Philosophy
In my personal philosophy of classroom management plan, the considerations about their socio
emotional needs and support students learning are key elements in creating a learning environment.
As a teacher, I will be responsible for creating a well planned classroom environment. In the Social
Justice Theory, students understand they could affect others have the awareness to help regulate
their own behaviors in classrooms. However, it does not mean that students can do whatever they
like in the classroom. According to Responsible Thinking Process Model (Ford, 2008) both
students and teachers have rights of being safe in the learning environment. At this point, I will be a
guide for students and prevent misbehavior. By keeping everything positive in my classroom,
students can be actively engaged and learn more.
I will involve students in designing the classroom rules. As the rules are made, I will emphasis to
ensure they are all clear about these rules. Based on Applied Behaviour Analysis (Alberto
Troutman, 2013) the antecedents and consequences can influence students inappropriate
behaviours. According to previous experience, students know

Analysis Of Big Two Hearted River By Ernest Hemingway
Big Two Hearted River , a semi autobiographical short story by Ernest Hemingway, is a story
about the main character, Nick, returning to Big Two Hearted River in order to recover from his
inner wounds. Nick Adams goes on a journey alone in nature for a therapeutic purpose as he
suffers from PTSD. However, Hemingway purposely avoided any direct discussion regarding to
Nick s mental wounds. The absence of the discussion is contributed by Hemingway s writing style,
the Iceberg principle. Hemingway focuses explicitly on what occurs on the surface without
mentioning actual theme. This indicates that the theme of self healing cannot be uncovered by
simply looking at the text itself. In order to comprehend the actual theme of the story, the character
development of Nick must be examined. This is possible since Nick Adamsis a recurring character
of Hemingway s stories. The two preceding stories of Big Two Hearted River , Now I lay me and
A Way you ll Never Be , directly discusses Nick s suffering from shell shock and how he comforts
himself by returning to Big Two Hearted river in his mind. The two short stories will be analyzed
and connected to Big Two Hearted River in the essay first. This will provide a strong
understanding of Nick s psyche and the reason behind his return to nature. Then, Big Two Hearted
River the short storyitself will be carefully analyzed. The dozen of the Nick Adams stories allowed
Nick to develop his character from a child to an adult. The

Misogyny Pervades The Picture Aeschylus Sophocles ...
Misogyny pervades the picture Aeschylus, Aristophanes, and Sophocles paint of Athenian society.
In their literature, however, female characters catalyze plot by challenging this picture. Such
characters from Sophocles Antigone to Aristophanes Lysistrata face grim consequences for acting
independently. Clytemnestraand Cassandrafrom Aeschylus s Agamemnonexemplify this archetype
of autonomy and destruction. When they confront injustice, male characters perceive them as
vindictive and hysterical. This paper will compare the standards of justice Aeschylus s society
imposes on men and women. I will argue that Clytemnestra and Cassandra are protectors of divine
justice who reject subservience and thereby transcend the sexism of their society.
The women in Agamemnon are as powerful as men but slaves to the divine. Clytemnestra s early
sacrifices parallel her vengeful slaughter of Agamemnon. After Clytemnestra makes sacrifices in
celebration of Greece s victory, the chorus cries, hope glows through your victims (Agamemnon,
658). They reference both hope for Greece s victory and hope for avenging Iphigenia s death.
Sacrifices of thanksgiving make Clytemnestra an ambassador of victory and the sacrifice of
Agamemnon makes her an ambassador of Justice. Agamemnon s slaughter is an act in the name of
heavenly Justice; it is a retributive sacrifice to Fate. Despite its moral significance, the murder of
the war hero invokes a cycle of death within the house of Agamemnon. Like the

The Public School Education System Is Failing Our Youth

The Public School Education System is failing our Youth While in high school, many students
complained about standardized testing and how ridiculous it was our education standards were on
the line for it. How we never learned anything long enough to remember it. Students are supposed
to enjoy learning. Instead students dread their mornings and hours spent in a classroom. Pass the
OGT or the new PARCC testing in order to graduate. Being taught at an impossible pace that many
cannot remember the information for the next year but instead just remember for the moment.
There are teachers who are sitting fancy, but don t even do their job to the core standards.
Looking at a few others who notice these flaws, a source from Sandra Stotsky s article says:
To begin with, education schools supply far too many teachers with an inadequate background in the
subjects they are licensed to teach. As one school administrator discovered when she examined
her teacher s college transcripts while preparing a proposal for a Teaching American History
grant, fully one third of our middle school social studies teachers had zero hours in college history
courses. Another 53 percent had fewer than ten hours of any college history. (Stotsky 44). Many
teachers cannot answer your questions simple or not. They don t have extensive knowledge to
hold onto because of lack of passion or having such a repetitive way of teaching

Melting Points Lab Report Essay

ABSTRACT
The objectives of this lab are, as follows; to understand what occurs at the molecular level when a
substance melts; to understand the primary purpose of melting point data; to demonstrate the
technique for obtaining the melting point of an organic substance; and to explain the effect of
impurities on the melting point of a substance. Through the experimentation of three substances,
tetracosane, 1 tetradecanol and a mixture of the two, observations can be made in reference to
melting point concerning polarity, molecular weight and purity of the substance. When comparing
the two substances, it is evident that heavy molecule weight of tetracosane allowed ... Show more

Once the range is obtained, remove the thermometer and beaker. Pour out the hot water and allow
both the thermometer and the beaker to cool. Once cool, repeat the previous steps with the second
compound, tetradecanol. At the conclusion of the second experiment, repeat the steps for a third
and final time using an equal mixture of both compounds. Be sure to record the melting point range
for all three experiments. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Melting point range for tetracosane: 49 51 degrees Celsius
Melting point range for 1 tetradecanol: 37 40 degrees Celsius
Melting point range for mixture: 34 37 degrees Celsius
I was instructed to record a melting point range for each compound, rather than a single temperature
melting point. The reason for this instruction is that polymers and unpure substance melt over a
range of several degrees. Based on the melting point ranges for both substances, it is difficult to
differentiate the two based on its melting point data alone. The ranges of the substances are close
enough to one another that one could argue for experimental error when presenting the data as a
solo identifying property.
Based on these conclusions, I do not believe the tetracosane is a pure substance because I observed
the compound melt over a range of degrees Celsius. If both compounds in the mixture were
composed of tetracosane, its melting point would be theoretically, identical to the melting

However, if the stressor persists, then the individual will not be able to handle the stress for long.
In this stage, the individual s energy is being depleted.
The third and final stage, Exhaustion, is when an individual s level of resistance to the stressor
decreases dramatically until it goes below the normal level. In this stage, an individual s energy
has run out and he or she is unable to maintain normal body functioning. If the stressor continues,
long term damage could occur to the person s body. The body s immune system is weakened
which can result in being more prone to sickness.
An alternative to the Exhaustion stage is the Recovery stage. This stage occurs when an
individual is able to successfully cope with and overcome the stressor (Wikipedia, 2012). This
paper will be specifically discussing and analyzing work related stress. So, what is work related
stress? Work related stress, also known as occupational stress, is stress related to the workplace.
Work related stress can occur in an individual when his or her workplace has a highly demanding
environment or job and he or she does not have the ability to completely deal with the
demanding workplace or complete the demanding job (Wikipedia, 2012). There are several other
factors that can cause work related stress which will be presented in this paper. Now that a
definition and model of stress have been presented, this paper will focus on the causes of stress,
known as stressors, as it

Introduction
The Everglades mainly found in the United States of America (USA) is a 2 million acre of
wetland ecosystem that stretches from the Central of Florida near to Orlando to the Bay of Florida
in the south. During rainy seasons, Lake Okeechobee experience upsurge in water volumes causing
it to discharge the waters into the river of grass that characterize with shallow slow moving water
carrying grass marshes. The river flows south and passing through different habitats namely wet
prairie, cypress swamps, mangroves, Everglades National Park and lastly into the Florida Bay. The
current size of the Everglades is smaller than it was originally. The decrease in size has majorly
been due to human activities that include diversions of the water for agriculture and flood control
as well as urban development. The Everglades borders the cities of Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. The
region is tourist attraction for birders, boaters, and anglers among others. The Everglades
ecosystem supports agricultural activities besides supplying clean drinking water to the southern
Florida residents. Just like other natural ecosystems like lakes and forests, the Everglades is facing

The Importance Of Classical Conditioning
Classical conditioning is also referred to as Pavlovian or Respondent conditioning. It is a
process of learning whereby a stimulus that is biologically potent such as food and a previously
neutral stimulus such as a bell are paired. This write up aims to expound further on classical
conditioning and why it matters (Gormezano at al, 275).This is because despite the fact that
many people use the term a lot, they may not necessarily fully comprehend it meaning or the fact
that it is by far one of the most basic forms when it comes to basic forms of learning. Most folks
who do know something about it will quickly refer to Ian Pavlov s experiment with dogs and a
bell that took place way back in 1927 and will normally end at that point due to lack of further
insight on the subject matter.Classical conditioningis centered around involuntary automatic
/reflexive responses rather than on operant conditioning(voluntary behavior). This therefore implies
that for perfect classicconditioning to occur the responses are those that are made naturally by an
animal being trained and that the responses must occur below the normal consciousness levels.
Such responses include fast or slow heartbeat, nausea, and dilation of pupils or a sudden reaction to
pain or pressure (Brewer $ William, 123).Usually the classic conditioning starts with an
unconditional stimulus being paired with a neutral one. The neutral stimulus must be one that
cannot or does not provoke any type of reaction from the test subject. The unconditional stimulus on
the other hand needs to be something that provides reliable results when tested on the subject by
producing an immediate natural response from the organism. This includes shining a light on the
human eye in which case the pupil naturally reduces in size to limit the amount of light entering the
eye. This is an example of a perfect unconditional response abbreviated as UCR by the scientist
Pavlov in 1927. The moment the neutral stimulus is associated with the unconditional stimulus, it
immediately becomes a conditional stimulus and if the two stimuli can occur together over a period
of time, then they become associated which

Deborah Tannen Women Are Unmarked
In the following, Deborah Tannen who is a Professor at Georgetown University says, that women
are marked and men are unmarked (130 135). This explains how women are being discriminated
as marked due to women s traits, and that men are unmarked because they do not have
discrimination traits. The term marked means it is a staple that relates to the way language is being
said. Women are marked in ways, such the appearance a womanhas and having certain titles.
Women are criticized each and everyday just by how they are dressed. For example, if a woman
wears a tight dress and heels, it sends out a message to men who believe that women are looking
for attention. However, if women wear nonsexual clothes that sends a message to her to think about
how she could be attractive. Tannen states, If her clothes are not sexy then that sends a message,
lent meaning by the knowledge that they could have been (133). This is saying that if women see
others dressed up, then it makes them think how they as an individual can be like the sexy women.

Retaliation In Slavery
Question: How does Retaliation affect the British and the Colonists? In our study of the
Revolutionary War Era, we engaged in some pre Rev War work, with the events leading up to
the Revolutionary War, then went into Historical Fiction book clubs, watched and discussed the
Sons of Liberty and through all of this I have come to believe that... One of the ways I have seen
Retaliation throughout my notes is in Sons of Liberty . For example, After the Boston Tea Party,
the British retaliated by killing multiple colonists in the village, and whipping Sam Adams. Next,

Looking through history, I ve noticed that riots and protests now, are close to the riots and
protests back in the late 1700 s. For example, Now there are women s rights protests and african

Taxing King King George had this idea to teach the colonists a lesson. They levied taxes, and
didn t listen to the colonists complaints. The colonists got angry and retaliated with a war called
The War of Independence. Although this was different to the Revolutionary War, it was one of

How to Make Project Report
How To Prepare a Project Report Report writing is one of the primary objects of any student who
are in the threshold of completing their graduation. It is to be noted that the final report is not to
be done for sheer formality. This report acts as a tool for judging the professional skill of the
new engineer. It is also considered to be an extended service for the engineering students who
might require information. Remember this report will be subjected to critical analysis by many
readers. Hence to prepare the final report, an engineering graduate must have good knowledge
about the practical skills that will be required to solve an engineering problem. All sorts of
resources must be compiled to create a report. Experimenting by using... Show more content on

The Harlem Renaissance of the New Negro period was a similar period of progressive change.
Many African Americans changed the way in how they saw themselves, where they lived, and most
importantly the way the expressed their culture. The Harlem Renaissance is recognized as one of
the most important and productive periods in the history of American literature, art, and culture.
From the movement came some of the finest music, literature, and art of the twentieth century. The
new negro movement was dated from approximately 1919 to 1935. The big boom happened when
African Americans had migrated from the South for industrial centers such as Pittsburgh and
Detroit and for cities such as Chicago and New York City. Most of the African Americans that

Kia Soul Advantages And Disadvantages
With all the advantages that comes with the Kia Soul, there are a few advantages that the
company should consider before making the purchase. The Kia Soul has a below average fuel
rating. It gets 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway, which is not good fuel efficient for
a car of its size or when compared to the competition. The car only comes in front wheel drive
only, which can make it hard to drive during the winter in Chicago. Finally, when it comes to the
engine performance, it comes with 1.6 liter four cylinder that puts out 130 horsepower, which
can make it feel weak for some driving situations. Below is the 2017 Kia Soul with some of its
features. Hybrid Vehicles Many consumers are becoming more environmentally conscious about
the kind of vehicles they drive and how they impact the environment, as a result, hybrid cars are
becoming more popular. Hybrid vehicles conserves fuel and produces less carbon oxide
emissions, as a result, many cities in the United States are switching their public transportation
and other service vehicles to hybrid cars. In addition to being environmentally friendly, hybrid
vehicles have less dependence on fossil fuels, has a regenerative braking system, they are built
from light material, they have high resale value, and they are financial benefits of having a hybrid
vehicle. There are disadvantages to owning a fleet of hybrid vehicles. They have less power,

The Christian Gospels On The Gospel Of The Kingdom Of God
Over the entire history of humankind, people have been struggling to get the meaning of life. They
have been searching for an existence filled with love, peace, and joy, whereby the essential need for
relationship, esteem, security, protection, provision, and safety is an uncompromised guarantee. As
a result, during Christ s ascension, He founded a church and tasked the congregation with
continuing his work. The church preached the message to the entire world. According to Matthew
24:14, [the] gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world... was the ultimate directive
of Christ to the church. In this view, the apostles gave sermons on the gospel of the Kingdom of God
(Acts 8:12; 14:22; 28:23). Therefore, the primary teaching of Jesusrevolves around the kingdom of
God.
It is evident that the Jesus principle message was about the kingdom of God. According to Mark
1:14 15, Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of
the kingdom of God and saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent
ye, and believe the gospel. The message correlates with Isaiah 40:9, ... be not afraid; say unto the
cities of Judah, Behold your God! The two statements illustrate that the kingdom of God has drawn
closer. However, the contentious issue is the determination whether the coming of Jesus Christ
brought the kingdom of God or drew it closer. Beasley Murray indicates that interpretation should
provide two parallel

Reflection On Race And Ethnicity
I am creative, short, determined, competitive, and a dyslexic Hispanic female. Society has shown
us that a large part of who we are in the United States focuses on our ethnicity and race. For every
important document, we have to fill out a form asking us about our race/ethnicity. We can say that
we are one racebut we actually all are multiple races. Growing up I knew that I was Hispanicbut I
really didn t feel like I was treated differently. I feel like because I had the lighter skin I was not
viewed necessarily as a Mexican. There were a few times that I was made fun of for being
Hispanic, the largest problem that I faced was people thinking that I spoke Spanish. On My
mother s side, I am 6th generation Coloradan with ties to MГ©xico and on my father s side, I am
a third generation American with ties to Spain and MГ©xico. Defining yourself can always be a
struggle because not everyone defines you the way that you define yourself. Growing up my family
told me stories about how they were made fun of or picked on because of their skin color and
the fact that they spoke Spanish. My grandfather started a roofing company in North Denver as
he worked more and made more money he moved to the Italian part of town where my mother
and her siblings were called coconuts and Oreos because they were dark on the outside but they
acted differently compared to other Hispanics. My grandmother told me about how people
would tell her not to speak Spanish because she was an American and that she was in America so
she needed to speak English. This was difficult for Hispanic people because they were having to
lose part of their culture and part of their identity. My grandmother always would tell me about
how it was harder for her to attend school because she would get into trouble if she acted
differently. My grandmother on my father s side of the family had a more sheltered life where
she was not racially discriminated against because she was part of the Spanish consulate. She
always told us about the cool places she would go to because of her father s job. It was
interesting learning that she was born in Japan while her sister was born in France. Growing up
she never needed to help around the house or have a job because

The Characters In Jerry Spinelli s Stargirl
Outrageous? he enquired, I hope so. Thank goodness for the outrageous among us. Jerry Spinelli,
the author of Stargirl, shut down questions about his characters being unrealistic. In this case,
Spinelli is referring to Stargirl, a nonconformist girl among monochromatic peers. She stays true to
herself, despite shunning taunts, so impressively that some may say she s quixotic. However,
people like Stargirlare, have been, and always will be all around us, although not as dramatic as
portrayed by Spinelli, she represents our inner, creative and insurrectionist self.
People may say Stargirl is idealistic, but that s the point! Both the blandness of the students at
Mica High and Stargirl s eccentricity are greatly exaggerated. It was meant to be on the border of
fantasy reality. The story, and in particular the characters, are intended to raise dust in the corners
of credibility. To challenge our routine way of seeing ourselves, noted Spinelli in a book interview.
Stargirl is an extreme, but achievable, case of individuality. ... Show more content on

Nontraditional Casting
Nontraditional Casting
Nontraditional casting is also known as colour blind casting and integrated casting. Non
traditional casting is defined as the casting of ethnic minority and female actors in roles where
race, ethnicity, or sex is not considered. Watching Hollywood movies, there is much diversity in a
movie depending on what the genre is. Hollywood looks for actors that fit the physical and talent
description directors are looking for. Hollywood work with what they only have, not based on
color. Hollywood actually takes advantage of the multicultural world. If they need an African
American, American Asian, Indian, Mexican actor they ll scout out for the ones they desire. It s
true that majority of movies and TV shows are Caucasian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Not only are those actors being discriminated but directors are also denying their talents as
performers. The Non Traditional Casting Project recognized and stated that Deaf cultureis an
important part of our national heritage and cultural legacy that should be reflected accurately on
our stages and screens and shared with a broad spectrum of the American public.
This book focuses on diversity that links between many people in American society. Adalberto
Aguirre, Jr., specializes in race critical theory, race and ethnic relations, and equity issues in higher
education for women and minority faculty. His published works include American Ethnicity: The
Dynamics and Consequences of Discrimination, Women and Minority Faculty in the Academic
Workplace. In this book, Adalberto has separated each chapter with different nations. For example,
Chapter 1 Early America, Chapter 2 The Spanish Exploration in North America, Chapter 3 The
European Immigrants in North America...etc. Adalberto pretty much provided a comparative
analysis of the major racial and ethnic populations that shaped diversity in early American society
and into the 21st century. It s interesting to read how each culture suffers from different things
during the same time spam. This book answers how race and ethnicity help shape contemporary
American society and what forces fuel

Summer In Chicago Essay
My Summer in Chicago
I couldn t help but to feel anxious and excited. It was my first time being in such a vast city and I
couldn t wait to explore it. The time was near the end of July, this is when my dad usually enjoys
taking our summer vacations, primarily outside of our state to somewhere else new and exciting.
That summer my dad decided to take a week long road trip and visit, Wisconsin Dells, Chicago, St.
Louis, and Madison. When I had heard him say Chicago I had already imagined the tall
buildings surrounding me, and taking a walk near Lake Michigan on the Navy Pier. Overall, I
had felt joyful about the trip. He wanted to show my sisters and I all the adventures he did in
Chicago when he was my age. To tell the truth, I was more excited to visit Chicago a little more
since it was such an extensive city and I had wanted to visit there ever since I was younger.
A few days before the trip, my dad, my sister Nina, and I, had done some research and added up
the cost of the trip and looked for hotels and restaurants to visit during the time we were there
and on our road trip. After about an hour of research on Chicago, we had our plan of what to do
for our time in Chicago. That night, It was difficult to fall asleep, although I wasn t surprised I
usually didn t fall asleep right away before a vacation, I m usually too excited.
Morning soon came and my dad, my younger sister Niomi, my sister Nina, and I were all ready to
leave and finally begin the drive to

  • 2. Unknown Organic Compounds Lab Report Identification of Unknown Organic Compounds by Melting Point, Boiling Point, Infrared and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Background and Method In the previous labs we were experimenting with different methods so that we can find different physical properties of the known compound. However, this lab report is a little different as it gives us two unknown compounds where we have to use the prior knowledge we have gotten in the other labs to ensure that we know exactly how to ultimately find the correct molecular structure of the unknown compounds. Therefore in this lab, we had to perform elemental analysis, boiling point, infrared (IR), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopies (NMR) and melting point. Thus, the main objective of this lab was to ensure that the students knew how apply the techniques from the previous labs and interpret the spectroscopy data to formulate the correct structure of the compound. We were assigned G and H. G was the solid and H was the liquid unknown compound. That being said the first step was the elemental analysis. Thus, the very first step was the identification of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The theory for the melting point is that it helps with the indication of how pure a substance is, also it helps in figuring out the melting point of the purer substances, sharper melting points belong to more pure substances (Online Labs). Also melting points can be affected by the size of the molecule and intermolecular forces (Online Labs). Melting point was measured using the melting point apparatus. That being said it is very important to ensure that there is minimal impurities or the apparatus is not overly heated, this will lead to inaccurate data as it will give the wrong readings (Landrie, 193). The best way to ensure that the most accurate measurement is gotten to cool the apparatus to 10 15 degree Celsius then taking the measured when it is heated to 1 2 degrees Celsius (Landrie, ... • 3. Annotated In The Sage Of Theare In The Sage of Theare , a child, Thasper is born, and is prophesized to be the Sage of Dissolution, a title that is much unwanted in the world because it brings disorder. Thasper is transferred to a different world to grow up in but once he hears of stories about the Sage of Dissolution, he travels to learn more about this mysterious character. Although The Sage of Theare takes place in a fictional world, Diana Wynne Jonescreates a world of order by using diction, as well as personal experiences to bring light to how current society mimics the social context of the story. The world on Earth is constructed very differently from the world of Theare but the people that reside in both worlds have the same tendencies to want order. On Earth, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In an interview that she had, she said, The Sage of Theare started because I remembered, or thought I remembered, a story by Borges being read on the radio, in which a scholar arduously tracked down a learned man but never quite found him. I started having dreams about it strange circular dreams in a strange city where gods took a hand and the dream person never found the wise man he was looking for. In order to exorcise the dreams, I wrote the story. Here, the rhetor s original purpose of writing this story was to get rid of her strange dreams. However, this adds on to the idea that people are uncomfortable with disorder because her strange dreams deviate from the norm and she wants it to disappear. This is similar to the story because the gods that live in Theare hate disorder. Also, because the rhetor wrote this in the time that she did, many events that occurred during the 1980s in Britain might have influenced the way she wrote this story and why she wrote it. As mentioned previously, Britain experienced political unrest during this time. There were many riots sparked by racial tensions, local problems, and poor relations between predominantly black communities and the police. There was also conflict in prisons as prisoners started a hunger strike to protest the right to be treated as political prisoners, resulting in 61 deaths. Not only that, economic recession in Britain during this time resulted in high unemployment rates of up to three million unemployed citizens. Because Diana Wynne Jones wrote The Sage of Theare during this time, the story reflects some aspects of these events. For example, the world of Theare is crafted to be a utopian society, a world of order where there is no chaos. The rhetor might have chosen to depict Theare in this way as a distraction from what is actually going on in the real world. In this fantasy world, everything ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A fanatic is a person filled with excessive and single minded zeal, especially for an extreme religious or political cause. There are more fans than fanatics. A fanloves whatever it is they are a fan of. • 8. The Return Of Martin Guerre Essay Introduction The Tale of Martin Guerre has been retold throughout history in the forms of; a play, movie and a book. What makes this story so interesting is due to the fact that it stems from a real life peasant court case which occurred in the 16th century. In the case, a man by the name of Arnaud du Tilh takes the identity of a middle class family man by the name of Martin Guerre. He manages to take on the persona of Martin Guerre for a period of three years where he manages to both; increase the Guerre family estate, and father a child with Martin s wife, Bertrande de Rols. What helped Arnaud steal Martin s identity was due to the fact that the real Martin Guerre had left his wife and family eight years prior to Arnaud arriving in the French village of Aritigat. Twentieth Century historians Natalie Zemon Davisand Robert Finlay have attempted to provide historical reasoning for why the case of Martin Guerre became so popular. As this essay will show; both historians were constrained to the same archival evidence; however they used different methods of interpretation to come up... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 11. The Invocation of Moral Codes in Richard III Essay Shakespeare s Richard III is from the outset a very moral play. It opens with an introduction to the character of Richard in his Now is the winter... speech. In this we are first introduced to the idea of a man becoming evil from his own free will, excused (by him) on the grounds of his inability to fit in with the physical ideals of society, saying, And therefore, since I cannot prove a lover... I am determined to prove a villain. Although we are not, at this point, given a definite indication of Shakespeare s opinion on this moralposition, it is the opening for a discussion on what is morally acceptable, which is continued quite decisively throughout the play. Buckingham indeed becomes resigned to his impending doom, saying, as he is lead off to the block, Come, sirs, convey me to the block of shame. /Wrong hath but wrong, and blame the due of blame. This calmness and resignation upon the point of his death show that Buckingham at least is not so caught up in immorality as to take his death as other than just punishment for his crimes. Hastings, too, goes quietly to the block, regretting his ignoble triumphing over his slain enemies, Lords Rivers, Grey and Vaughan. Of these three, Vaughan is silent, Grey believes his death to be in retribution For standing by when Richard stabbed her [Margaret s] son , and Rivers prays for my sister and her princely sons, Be satisfied, dear God, with our true bloods...Which, as thou knowest, unjustly must be spilt. From these, we see both a recognition of some past misdeed for which they are being punished, and a touching request that they may be the sacrifice to keep the grieving queen and the heir safe. This last minute resignation and remembrance of others who may be in danger indicates a last ditch courage, and an acceptance of what the world s moral judgement (spoken through Margaret) would be. Retribution is a key issue throughout the play. All those who commit crimes are eventually punished, and Richard can be seen as the tool of retribution, as it is through his scheming ... The three strikes law is one of the most modernized laws in the criminal justice system of the United States, where it has been created in the efforts to reduce and prevent crimes in the states especially for required sentencing laws for repeat criminal offenders. In 2003, more than half of the United States had adopted the three strikes law; in addition, the law is raised when criminals have committed their third felonies. Therefore, these laws execute a harsher penalty of a minimum of 25 years of a life sentence for criminals who have committed a crimefor the third time even though their crimes that are not evil. There were many arguments raised when many of the criminals were sent to prison for 25 years for a very small crime such as petty theft. Many of the people in the United States argued that a 25 year prison is very similar to the punishment for committing murder. The blog should not be formed of complex set of words, which are tough to understand by the reader. And they are often highly debated of the origins of nations and their identity. The root of primordial school is originally based on the German romanticism and it mainly argues how those fixed factors influence in identity shape process. Those factors are constantly stable throughout the history and hardly changed. The factors have been passed on to generations and constructing the identity of people who lives in nowadays. For example, language is one of these elements. Language is unique and distinct from other ones. People who speak this language will have their own identity and formed a special group which makes them different from other language speaking groups. And in primordial school idea, same language speaking group will result in similar thought. Because of people learn language from the community where they live and each community will has its thought or behavior. These will transmit to people who learn that language. Nick Adams goes on a journey alone in nature for a therapeutic purpose as he suffers from PTSD. However, Hemingway purposely avoided any direct discussion regarding to Nick s mental wounds. The absence of the discussion is contributed by Hemingway s writing style, the Iceberg principle. Hemingway focuses explicitly on what occurs on the surface without mentioning actual theme. This indicates that the theme of self healing cannot be uncovered by simply looking at the text itself. In order to comprehend the actual theme of the story, the character development of Nick must be examined. This is possible since Nick Adamsis a recurring character of Hemingway s stories. In their literature, however, female characters catalyze plot by challenging this picture. Clytemnestraand Cassandrafrom Aeschylus s Agamemnonexemplify this archetype of autonomy and destruction. When they confront injustice, male characters perceive them as vindictive and hysterical. This paper will compare the standards of justice Aeschylus s society imposes on men and women. I will argue that Clytemnestra and Cassandra are protectors of divine justice who reject subservience and thereby transcend the sexism of their society. The women in Agamemnon are as powerful as men but slaves to the divine. Clytemnestra s early sacrifices parallel her vengeful slaughter of Agamemnon. After Clytemnestra makes sacrifices in celebration of Greece s victory, the chorus cries, hope glows through your victims (Agamemnon, 658). They reference both hope for Greece s victory and hope for avenging Iphigenia s death. Sacrifices of thanksgiving make Clytemnestra an ambassador of victory and the sacrifice of Agamemnon makes her an ambassador of Justice. The ranges of the substances are close enough to one another that one could argue for experimental error when presenting the data as a solo identifying property. Based on these conclusions, I do not believe the tetracosane is a pure substance because I observed the compound melt over a range of degrees Celsius. If both compounds in the mixture were composed of tetracosane, its melting point would be theoretically, identical to the melting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this stage, the individual s energy is being depleted. The third and final stage, Exhaustion, is when an individual s level of resistance to the stressor decreases dramatically until it goes below the normal level. In this stage, an individual s energy has run out and he or she is unable to maintain normal body functioning. If the stressor continues, long term damage could occur to the person s body. The body s immune system is weakened which can result in being more prone to sickness. An alternative to the Exhaustion stage is the Recovery stage. This stage occurs when an individual is able to successfully cope with and overcome the stressor (Wikipedia, 2012). This paper will be specifically discussing and analyzing work related stress. So, what is work related stress? Work related stress, also known as occupational stress, is stress related to the workplace. Work related stress can occur in an individual when his or her workplace has a highly demanding environment or job and he or she does not have the ability to completely deal with the demanding workplace or complete the demanding job (Wikipedia, 2012). There are several other factors that can cause work related stress which will be presented in this paper. Now that a definition and model of stress have been presented, this paper will focus on the causes of stress, known as stressors, as it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Everglades And Global Warming The Everglades and Global warming Richard Hamilton BSC2010 Broward College The Everglades and Global warming Introduction The Everglades mainly found in the United States of America (USA) is a 2 million acre of wetland ecosystem that stretches from the Central of Florida near to Orlando to the Bay of Florida in the south. During rainy seasons, Lake Okeechobee experience upsurge in water volumes causing it to discharge the waters into the river of grass that characterize with shallow slow moving water carrying grass marshes. The river flows south and passing through different habitats namely wet prairie, cypress swamps, mangroves, Everglades National Park and lastly into the Florida Bay. The current size of the Everglades is smaller than it was originally. The decrease in size has majorly been due to human activities that include diversions of the water for agriculture and flood control as well as urban development. The Everglades borders the cities of Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. The region is tourist attraction for birders, boaters, and anglers among others. The Everglades ecosystem supports agricultural activities besides supplying clean drinking water to the southern Florida residents. Just like other natural ecosystems like lakes and forests, the Everglades is facing dangers of global warming. • 40. The Importance Of Classical Conditioning Classical conditioning is also referred to as Pavlovian or Respondent conditioning. It is a process of learning whereby a stimulus that is biologically potent such as food and a previously neutral stimulus such as a bell are paired. This write up aims to expound further on classical conditioning and why it matters (Gormezano at al, 275).This is because despite the fact that many people use the term a lot, they may not necessarily fully comprehend it meaning or the fact that it is by far one of the most basic forms when it comes to basic forms of learning. Most folks who do know something about it will quickly refer to Ian Pavlov s experiment with dogs and a bell that took place way back in 1927 and will normally end at that point due to lack of further insight on the subject matter.Classical conditioningis centered around involuntary automatic /reflexive responses rather than on operant conditioning(voluntary behavior). This therefore implies that for perfect classicconditioning to occur the responses are those that are made naturally by an animal being trained and that the responses must occur below the normal consciousness levels. Such responses include fast or slow heartbeat, nausea, and dilation of pupils or a sudden reaction to pain or pressure (Brewer $ William, 123).Usually the classic conditioning starts with an unconditional stimulus being paired with a neutral one. The neutral stimulus must be one that cannot or does not provoke any type of reaction from the test subject. The unconditional stimulus on the other hand needs to be something that provides reliable results when tested on the subject by producing an immediate natural response from the organism. This includes shining a light on the human eye in which case the pupil naturally reduces in size to limit the amount of light entering the eye. This is an example of a perfect unconditional response abbreviated as UCR by the scientist Pavlov in 1927. The moment the neutral stimulus is associated with the unconditional stimulus, it immediately becomes a conditional stimulus and if the two stimuli can occur together over a period of time, then they become associated which ... This explains how women are being discriminated as marked due to women s traits, and that men are unmarked because they do not have discrimination traits. The term marked means it is a staple that relates to the way language is being said. Women are marked in ways, such the appearance a womanhas and having certain titles. Women are criticized each and everyday just by how they are dressed. For example, if a woman wears a tight dress and heels, it sends out a message to men who believe that women are looking for attention. However, if women wear nonsexual clothes that sends a message to her to think about how she could be attractive. Tannen states, If her clothes are not sexy then that sends a message, lent meaning by the knowledge that they could have been (133).
