What qualities and experiences do you have that best prepare you for the demands of the Chicago
EYES on Cancer program? (250/250) After I had taken AP Biology during my junior year, I decided
that I wanted to become a researcher. The topics that I have learned from the class will be a great base
for the program. The summer after the class, I participated in a program called Junior Research
Scientists, where I became familiar with the research process. With a group, I conducted an
experiment on which form of light concentration produces the most power from pv cells. I also
learned about robotics, electricity, and made biodiesel. I am currently taking Biochemistry and AP
Computer Science A to better prepare me as a researcher. Knowing how to code will allow me to
better manipulate data from experiments and will improve my problem solving skills overall. ... Show

From my two years of participation, I improved my presentation and communication skills. I can
apply these skills to my future because research involves communication and presentation on a day to
day basis. Research is collaborative, so it is important to have an understanding with your lab
members. Also, if I am presenting to an investor that has no knowledge on the topic that I am
researching, I will need to explain it in a way that would make sense while maintaining the principles
of the work.
Of the learning opportunities related to careers in science and medicine, why have you chosen to apply

Regional Differences In The United States Between 1800 And...
The first half of the nineteenth century in the United States of America was a time of tremendous
change for the nation. Firstly, change began as Thomas Jefferson was elected president, which meant
the beginning of the Democratic Republicans reign in office. But this development of the modern
United States led not to a unified nation, yet it led to one divided. The expansion and development of
ideas and land exposed great regional differences in the United States between 1800 and 1848.
Jefferson s Louisiana Purchase had not only provided the country with land to farm, but it had doubled
the size of the United States. Decisions over what to do with the new land separated the country. This
is clearly seen in disputes concerning the United States

Iceberg In Now I Lay Me, By Ernest Hemingway
The word iceberg is most likely a Dutch term ijsberg, which translates to ice mountain; only one
eighth of the mass can be seen above the surface of the water ( Iceberg Facts ). Iceberg also refers to a
theory/style of writing which Ernest Hemingway was famous for. Now I Lay Me is a short story
written about a religious man during war who refuses to fall asleep for fear of death and the dark. At
least that is the surface version of the story. However, like the iceberg, the seven eighths of the story
Now I Lay Me is below the surface forming a deeper perspective which leads the reader to the hidden
heart of the story. Hemingway wrote the short story after his bout in the war. In Now I Lay Me,
Hemingway effectively utilizes the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From within the deeply hidden mountains of Now I Lay Me are many examples. On the surface, the
character, Senor Tenente Nick, while trying to stay awake, allows the reader to see his thoughts and
memories of fishing and the bait he used, not only to reminisce but, mainly, to stay awake. The
character would no longer use salamanders and crickets ...because of the way they acted about the
hook (Hemmingway, Ernest). This sentence, under the surface, symbolizes the knowledge of
impending doom. The character saw himself as the bait, knowing they were going to die. Senor
Tenente was unable to put the bait through the torcher like he and his fellow soldiers at war.
Additionally, the character again recalls memories from childhood to stay awake; I remember the
snakes burning in the fire in the back yard. But there were no people in that, only things
(Hemmingway, Ernest). Hemingway, again through the iceberg style, illustrations the unspoken of
horrors seen through Senor Nick s mind. Nick is likening the burning things/snake to the dead and
burning bodies of war; he is thankful it s not human. It also relays the constant bombardment of
thoughts on war and death. Moreover, Nick preferred to sleep with a light on or during the daylight; If
I could have a light I was not afraid to sleep, because I knew my soul would only go out of me if it
were dark (Hemmingway, Ernest). This sentence predicates the near death experience of the character,
in hours of darkness and sleep, during the war. The title Now I Lay Me is a portion of a nighttime
religious prayer, which is again noticed when the reader chooses to dive below the surface; Senor
Tenente is also a religious man who prays for everyone he ever knew to keep alluding

The Mere Nature Of The Soliloquy By William Shakespeare
The mere nature of the soliloquy is to enter the thoughts of a specific character It is a simple idea. It
would make sense that Shakespeare employs this literary method to reveal something about Hamlet s
own internal struggle in any given soliloquy. Hamlet is an conflicted and self disparaging individual
who often finds himself toiling with his own ideas and movies frequently. But the first soliloquy is
used to reveal to the audience that Hamlet is furious at his mother and Claudius, even before he learns
his father was supposedly murdered by the new king. The fury toward Claudius and Gertrude alone is
enough to make Hamlet even contemplate suicide, Or that the Everlasting had not fix d/ His canon
gainst self slaughter (Shakespeare, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By comparing corruption to a rotting plant, Shakespeare manages to insert a large, overarching theme
into a few sentences of a soliloquy.
While there is micro juxtaposition in the sentences and metaphors in the soliloquy, the first passionate
soliloquy provides a striking contrast to the artificial dialogue that Hamlet must exchange with
Claudius in court. The juxtaposition of tone emphasizes how rules and customs of the royal court that
foster corruption. Shakespeare also juxtaposes spiritual things and earthly things, O, that this is too too
sullied flesh would melt,/ Thaw and resolve itself into dew (10). Hamlet is disgusted by the earthly
flesh he has to live in and wishes to be something pure and spiritual like dew. The earthly things to
hamlet, like soil and weeds, are gruesome. To Hamlet, the world is corrupt and so are the people in it.
Shakespeare juxtaposes the earthly with the divine in order to show how Hamlet, while he wanting to
be pure, is trapped on earth by some obligation, such as a canon gainst self slaughter (10). The ban on
suicide is also a symbol for Hamlet s obligation to stay in the royal court until things are set right.
Allusion is also implemented to emphasize the corruption that is slowly taking over the Royal court.
Shakespeare has Hamlet compare his father, his mother, and his uncle all to different Greek and
Roman mythological figures. Hamlet firsts makes the comparison of

Summaries of Books on Central America
*Andrien, Kenneth J. Andean Worlds: Indigenous History, Culture, and Consciousness under Spanish
Rule, 1532 1825. Albuquerque: University of New Mexico Press, 2001.
Andrien s book is a historical summary of the Andean region from native people to after the Spanish
conquest. It addresses economy, culture, and the importance of religion, as well as power structures.
There is an emphasis on the continued existence of indigenous culture despite Spanish involvement
for hundreds of years.
The book is important in situating the context in which Rose of Lima lived and the native traditions
that would have influenced her and her family. Andrien s book can be used in understanding the
historical events that led up to Spanish rule and the importance of Catholicism and the power it held
over the native people and how it was used to establish Spanish control.

Wireless Networking And Its Impact On The World
In 2016, the majority of networking is done wirelessly. Advancements in technology over the past ten
to fifteen years has allowed us to network wirelessly anywhere in the world. There are remote areas in
the world that do not allow wireless networking due to resources being unavailable, at least for now.
The world of networking is continuously growing. I would predict that with initiatives such as
Facebook s WiFi Drone, WiFi will be available everywhere in the world no matter your location. The
term WiFi is a trademark of the WiFi alliance, a trade association who promotes LAN technologies
and certifies products. The term WiFi was adopted in 1999 as a branding term. It is an acronym for
wireless fidelity. Any device that has a stamp of WiFi certification must meet the IEEE 802.11
standards meaning that the devices capabilities are compatible with other certified devices. In 1985,
the FCC released what is known as the ISM Band for unlicensed use. ISM or Industrial Scientific and
Medical Band, is a radio band reserved for all sorts of devices around the world that serve a purpose in
the title s description. The ISM reserved frequencies that are commonly used today such as 902 928
MHz or 2.4 2.5 GHz for wireless use. Other devices that operate on this frequency such as
microwaves, can interfere with the traffic going across the same frequency. 902 928 MHz is only
unlicensed by what the ITU or International Telecommunications Union refers to as Region Two .

Police academy had been getting more brutal over the course of the year, the tests getting more
frequent and the physicals getting harder. Maka revelled in the surprise of her classmates when she
placed in the top ranks for the physical assessments, which was a combination of speed, strength and
agility. As hard as she tried to ignore them she had heard the sniggers and doubt from the others as
they assumed she would fail. Even some of the trainers had initially asked her if she was sure this was
the path she wanted to take and suggested maybe she try something less physical like a desk job with

I Am A Soldier And A Good Person
The army has taught me so many great things. It taught me how to be a disciplined soldier and a good
person. I was inexperienced of life before I joined the army. Therefore, I was overwhelmed of life
lessons when I came to basic training. However, I learned the seven army values which were loyalty,
duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage; I experienced every value
throughout my training process. They help me to discipline myself to be a good soldier and a good
person. The value that I honored most was integrity. I was taught that integrity was doing what s right,
legally and morally. However, throughout my training experience, I understand integrity as fearless, to
tell the truth, responsible for your own action, and hardworking.
Integrity means the courage, to tell the truth. In the beginning of my training process, I was told to
study the seven army values by heart. I didn t understand why my drill sergeants made such a big deal
about those values. The seven words were easy to remember, and we all knew the meaning of them.
However, I changed my mind when I witness Lopez s situation. Lopez ate a Twister bar and left its
wrap in the trash can. My drill sergeants found out about it and questioned the whole platoon. Lopez
was fear of the punishment, so he didn t admit his wrong action. Lopez was considered having no
integrity by the whole platoon. However, Lopez wasn t the only one who was accused of having no
integrity; my drill sergeants were

Esperanza Rising Book Report
The book Esperanza Rising, written by Pam Munoz Ryan is a historical fiction story about a girl
named Esperanza who once lived in Mexico. She was very rich until one day her father was killed by
infamous bandits. Soon, Esperanza s house was burned down, and the remaining members of the
family fled to United States. Although the characters may not all be real, the events reflect to the time
period, which is in the 1930s, during the Great Depression.
There are several main characters in this story Esperanza Rising. First of all, there is Esperanza, a girl
who faced many conflicts throughout the story. PaPa, Esperanza s father was generous, however, later
killed by bandits. Ramona, Esperanza s mother was very nice, but later became very sick. Alfonso,
Ramona s servant, brought Esperanza and MaMa to the United States. Miguel, Ramona s servant and
Alfonso s son, also went with Esperanza. One day, Miguel took Esperanza s money and used it to
bring Abuelita to America. Abuelita, Esperanza s grandma tried to flee to the U.S. to have a better
living away from the corrupt uncles. As I stated before Esperanza Rising is a story about a girl named
Esperanza who loved her land. As this book continues her father was killed by bandits. After her father

Catholic Marriage Vs Anglican Marriage
Marriage is the unification between a man and a woman, instituted and ordained by God, for the
lifelong relationship between one man as husband and one woman as a wife. This is what the ritual of
marriage means in Christian churches. Many people choose not to marry in the Christian church due
to the strict format you have to follow. However, based on my ethnographic results and research, there
are wide ranges of options where marriages in Catholic and Anglican religions can be adapted to,
however; it is directed by their Church authorities to a certain degree.
The introductory rites are similar in both Catholic and Anglican marriages, with some differences.
Catholics have two options on how they walk in. They can either walk down the aisle ... Show more

It is where a couple makes sacred promises to one another and consent to get married to that particular
person. Rings are also exchanged during this time. This richly symbolic action seals commitment to
one another. The giving of consent means you marry each other and that you make the promise to each
other to be ever loving and faithful and bear children. Vows can only be adapted slightly. This can be
the case of my interviewee who chose not to put the word obey in their vows. The vows were chosen
from guides or booklets where they can pick from a selection of marriage vows. In Anglican
weddings, the consent is asked by the celebrant, addressing the groom and then the bride to love,
comfort, honour and protect each other. Couple with joined hands, facing one another, then exchange
vows. They should include keywords such as to love and to cherish as long as we both live . Rings are
also exchanged. My Anglican interviewees used the church s vows and adapted it a little bit. The
exchange of vows and rings is the main feature for couples, which shows that they are now married
and that they are husband and wife. There is a limited range in changes in Christian weddings.
However, there are some options for people who want to personalise it but only to a certain degree
such as the vows. The church vows are more favourable since it consists of all the necessary things a

Environmental Effects Of Organic Pollution And Its Effects...
Organic pollutants normally originate from numerous human activities which include manufacturing,
managing storing, and disposal of chemicals. Industrial places are a contributor of the contaminations
that besiege our environment and this does not stop there as the oil refineries on their own in some
countries cause unquantifiable damages to their land and water bodies. Agricultural activities which
involve use of pesticides and insecticide also contribute, not to talk of households generally.
THE CHEMICAL INDUSTRY
This is another instance within the feel, commonly due to the fact their waste is known to pollute
waste streams. In real sense, the waste discharge from chemical industry at the moment are adequately
managed and treated earlier than being launched into the environment. There were no facilities to
effect this treatment in the past and so there is a considerable level of damages which has already
struck the water bodies due to this waste disposal by industries. Even though efforts have commenced
to beat to the barest minimum this sort of pollutants, its impact continues have not totally vanished.
HOUSEHOLD CHEMICALS
There are release of substances which are products of chemical organics that not only affects the
environment but takes decades for it to decompose. We use most of these products in our environment
and though not many know the harms it because they are largely disastrous to the environment. There
are massive campaigns against the use of polythene bags as well as pet bottles because of the harms
which their accumulation causes to the water bodies and animals in the sea. Chemical substances
which contaminate the environment would not out rightly present themselves as contaminants because
some are useful environ to man. This leads to the detergent we use in our laundry, the constituent of
this detergents are not only beneficial but they are also in turn return devastating characteristics to
land. An examination of the labels of a detergent will present to us the ingredient which is typically
unsafe chemical compounds.

Anthropological analyses always starts with a question, and, in regards to Mythology, majority of the
questions are asked in retrospect. This retrospective analysis is a very scientific and alienating way of
approaching myth a cultural component who s roots are planted in a deeply social and emotional
practices. Years of inquiry and speculation have resulted in anthropologists coming up with numerous
methodologies and practices to explain exactly how one needs to approach the study of myth thats

Right away this assertion distances Malinowski and the culture he belongs to from myth. His method
of studying myth is more complex than Rooth s. Rooth s paper presents and breaks down all variations
of the creation myth in North America. After laying out the eight different types of the creation myth,
Rooth concludes, myth has geographical boundaries . Malinowski tries to justify his claim that myth
can help us understand the behaviors and customs of the people who tell them. Right at the beginning
of his essay he makes a comparison that puts forth the idea that when a society becomes civilized and
more developed, religion usurps mythology: this myth is to the savage what, to a fully believing
Christian, is the Biblical story of Creation... (Malinowski). Malinowski refers to primitive cultures as
savage because they think about myth in religious terms. He tries to separate from mythology by
calling myth a pragmatic charter and by dwelling mentally for sometime among people of much
simpler culture than our own, we maybe able to see ourselves from a distance (Malinowski). Calling
myth charter he imposes the socioeconomic concerns of Europe at the time on primitive myth and
implies that it can only exist to validate custom and institution myth for Malinowski will always state

Persecution Against An Unchartered Jargon Essay
Persecution Against an Unchartered Jargon
The Webster Dictionary defines the word language as the system of words or signs that people use to
express thoughts and feelings to each other as well as any one of the systems of human language that
are used and understood by a particular group of people (Webster Dictionary). If language is a tool
dedicated as a communication source to understand one another, why is the way certain people talk
being neglected and marked as not an actual language? Language has evolved into more than just
words being expressed through our voices, but has converted into a weapon used to ridicule and attack
other dialects due to how different and unorthodox a particular language may be. James Baldwin in If
Black English Isn t a Language, Then Tell me, What is? argues that Black English was a form of the
African American community s own dialect of the English language, and neglecting the language as
its own contradicts the definition of the word language itself. Bell hooks explores and points out the
class differences within our society and not just within our colleges major universities, pointing out
how in which assimilation is not inevitable and not required wherever an individual enters. Our own
stories and the way we present ourselves through our words should not be limited to a certain form; in
F for Book Report, R. Zamora Linmark endorses the linguistic power to represent ourselves anyway
we like and our own language shouldn t be

suggested that manufactures of driverless vehicles monitor the performance of test drivers and see if
their levels of concentration are good and if they represent any risks (Department for transport, 2015).
However, many questions arise about how these tests will take place, how will humans be monitored
on their concentration abilities. What will happen in the case of failing such tests? How will the roads

Key Implications Of The Solow Model
The Solow model is widely considered to be the standard neoclassical economic growth model which
serves as the basis for understanding economic growth. I will first introduce the two basic equations
that the Solow model is built around, discussing the main assumptions made along the way. I will then
present the key equation of the Solow model and discuss its results and implications. I will then
address why it is desirable to use log linearization, and how it can be used to study the dynamics near
the steady state. We will then briefly look into the empirical results of Mankiw et al. (1992) and what
they mean for the Solow model. We begin with the aggregate production function of the model. Let us
denote output (Y), capital (K), labour (L) and the index of productive efficiency (A). The production
function can then be written as:

To the contrary, if a is high then the rate of convergence is low because diminishing returns set in

The differential equation for output convergence is quite similar. Assuming Cobb Douglas technology
we can show that y=k^a which then implies that y ̇/y=a k ̇/k by taking logs and differentiating with
respect to time. Here a is translating a given growth rate of capital into a given growth rate of output.
Substituting into the previous differential equation we get a new one for the growth rate of output:
y ̇/y≈ λ[logy logy^*]
The growth rate in each of these expressions is linear in the gap from the steady state measured in
logarithms.

Article Summary Of Camille Paglia s On Date Rape
On Date Rape is an article written by Camille Paglia, which argues the young women of today pay not
much care about their safety while they re enjoying the freedom they deserve. According to the writer
of this article, who also is a humanities professor and a cultural critic, a woman should pay more
attention to their safety while they pursuit the freedom as a man does. Because a woman is likely
becoming a victim in a rape case. In this article, the author also implies that even the law should
protect women from the rape, still, women themselves should build up a self protection awareness to
keep them away from the rape crime. However, even this article points out a main argument about self
protection awareness is necessary for a woman, but more or less of its points didn t support the main
argument of this article. In additional, the focus of my article is about to analysis the article of Camille
Paglia, On Date Rape. Besides, I ll point out some misconceptions about her article.
The first point I recognized in Paglia s article is the third paragraph of the article, which explains that
because of the young feminists come from a white, middle class world, so that they expect everything
should be safe as they think. On the other side, because the black or Hispanic women grow up in a
different environment, where full of sexual culture, hence they will pay more attention of their safety

How Water Shaped Michigan
How Water Shaped Michigan
For many years, I have always wondered how Michigan was shaped. I did not realize that water could
have such a huge impact on the way Michigan was made. From doing research, I recognized that there
has been four Ice Ages on Earth. The last Ice Age, Pleistocene Epoch began and ended two million
years to 12,000 years. At this time, hot and cold temperatures swayed and glaciers receded to advance
into the interglacial periods. In the United States, and around the world glaciers have carved out our
landscape, making what the world is today. The first glaciers circulated south from what is now
Canada. From what I ve researched the Great Lakes were once riverbeds, which provided the glaciers

forms are ridges or complexes of mounds or crescents. The shape of individual dunes is equally
variable. Shape relates to the direction and strength of the wind forming it, as well as to the amount of
sand available. The impressive sand dunes along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan were created by
the prevailing westerly winds blowing the sand deposited along the beaches into the dune

Research Paper On Peaky Blinders
In the last five years there has been an enormous shift in the way television is consumed, largely due
to the growing availability of content online. The internet has brought the power of what, when and
where a program is consumed into the hands of the viewer (Pittman Sheehan, 2015). This has caused a
surge in both the amount, and the frequency of television consumed, leading to a growth of a viewing
practice known as binge watching (Matrix, 2014; Pittman Sheehan, 2015). Streaming services, such as
Netflix, have helped to facilitate this change in consumption practices (Pittman Sheehan, 2015).
Netflix is an online streaming platform with a large variety of television programs and movies, which
are made available to subscribers for a small monthly fee. Some of the content is exclusive to the

Peaky Blinders was not originally distributed as a program to binge watch, it does meet several of the
criteria which makes it a program ideal for this type of consumption. Peaky Blinders is a British crime
drama about a Birmingham gang of the same name, set just after the First World War. Each

Creation, Destruction And Imagination In Kubla Kahn
Kubla Kahn There are likely many themes that are worth mentioning in Kubla Khan . Some of the
things are complementary to each other, while others, such as creation and destruction, are opposites,
yet are often found together. Many of the themes are positive while others are negative. There is a
sense of mystery that pervades the poem, such that the meaning is largely left up to interpretation.
Kubla Khan tells a story, yet it also seems to be trying to make a point. Some of the more noticeable
themes in this poem are creation, destruction, and imagination. Psychological interpretations of the
poem reveal a strong sexual undertone (Heninger, 358). This, of course, contributes to the theme of
creation. The poem goes, And here were forests ancient as the hills , referring to forests that were
present during the creation of the world. By woman wailing for her demon lover! This torrid line
seems to suggest the strong sexual undertones mentioned earlier. And, of course, where there is sexual
references there is often the prospect, at least, of creation. Could I revive within me Her symphony
and song . This question seeks to determine whether the song could be sung in the manner. The song is
dead, but needs to be recreated with me, the voice of the poem. I would build that dome in air , the
building of the structure of course entails its creation. From some sort of material the dome represents
a transformation from rawness to a fully formed dome, standing on its own.

The Arguments For And Against Free Trade
Evaluate the arguments for and against Free Trade.
Free trade which is also known as laissez faire has been around since the Nineteenth century. Free
trade is a built constructive thing which allows trade to be easily transportable between nations and
states. Due to this there has been many unfair calls but also beneficial to some. Also it brings about
tension as everyone would like to input an agreement based on what suits them. This evaluation is
divided into four main sections. It will first consider what free trade is and how is operates in order for
the reader to understand the actual concept of free trade. It will then go on to describe the arguments
for and against free trade. The third part compares the two arguments and comes up with an evaluation
on the two. Finally, some conclusions will be drawn as to which evaluation has a stronger point.
Free trade is built on the principle that if more people are freely available to engage in mutually
beneficial exchange, that this will mean the world resources are used more efficiently, more people
will become wealthy as a result. And those countries can specialise economically what they do best
and produce more efficient trade that they don t have easy to them. Economist David Ricardo
developed the term comparative advantage . Which in principle is taking advantage of what the
country makes best and concentrating on assets that the country has in order to preform best in that
product. In affect trading these products with

Iranian Nuclear Threat Essay
The possibility of Iran soon having nuclear weapons is no joke. The Iranian government is growing
closer to this goal every day. The Iranian government has totally disregarded United States
government s sanctions against their nuclear program and still continues to enrich uranium. An unsafe
goal for such an unstable country as Iran these weapons could easily be put to use against countries
like the US and Israel whom Iran openly despises. Iran does all this while also testing long range
missile systems capable of launching a missile over 300 miles easily reaching countries like Israel and
its neighbors. Iran is also working on an inter continental missile which would have ranges of much
over ten times of what the country has now. Therefore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The terrorist organization Hezbollah was founded by Iran s own Revolutionary guard therefore
imploring close relations with them. Though Iran and terrorist organization Al Qaeda do not get along
very well there common enemy s of the United States and Israel has led to corporation between them
as well. There is no doubt in the minds of a great many people that if Iran was to create a nuclear
weapon that it would end up to be in the hands of one of these terrorist organizations. The result of
this would be devastating not only would it immediately be used against a country like the US or
Israel there would also be no where to hit back as these organizations do not have a home country . Al
Qaeda has already proved themselves able through 9/11, why would they even pause when they have
an opportunity that would be 10 times as deadly as 9/11 was. Does the US government truly need a
repeat of this before they realize the true potential a threat like this has to offer and, how important it
is to stop it in anyway necessary?
Additionally, the Iranian nuclear program is a direct threat to the United States of America. Iran has
made it clear through many demonstrations that they despise the US and its actions in the Middle East.
They have also been testing inter continental missiles that would possibly be able to get to reach the
US. Iran has shown hostility to Iran in the past with the Iranian hostage crisis were the US embassy

I Am Legend
The movie I am Legend is a great movie. I really enjoy I am Legend because it is a story about Robert
Neville (Will Smith) and his dog Samantha, a German shepherd, surviving in a zombie apocalypse in
the heart of New York City. Now these are not your normal zombies they are more or less just
infected, but they cannot go into sunlight because it burns their skin very quickly. They are infected
with a virus that started out having the ability to cure cancer, but then later mutated the host into these
zombie like creature that are stronger, faster, and all senses increased from a human.
Robert Neville is a scientist that is trying to find a cure to this outbreak. He is testing different
solutions on infected rats, and he found one that made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That night the infected find their way to Robert s house, they start to attack and get inside. Robert,
Anna, and Ethan go down to his lab in the basement, and lock themselves in a protected room with the
infected that he captured. The infected he capture was not infected anymore and was slowly becoming
human again, but the other infected started beating on the glass trying to break their way into the
room. So Robert takes a blood sample, which has the cure in it, of the captured infected gives it to
Anna and Ethan. He then locks them in a smaller emergency locker, and tells them to get the cure to
other scientists and fix it all. He then shuts the door and pulls a grenade out of a desk drawer. Looking
at all the infected in the room he pulls the pin and opens the door ending his life and killing all the
infected in the area. Anna and Ethan then find their way to other people and scientists and were able to
save the world because of the work of Robert Neville. In my opinion, the movie I am Legend is a
fantastic movie for many reasons being from plot, to characters, and to the producer. The plot was
based on a 1954 horror book I am Legend by Richard Matheson. This story is what he is most well
known for and made him popular. Richard had many great works and those got him the chance to
write sixteen episodes for the popular television show The Twilight Zone. This television show aired
from 1959 to 1964 with five seasons and 156 episodes. Making the book into a movie shows that it
was a good enough story to get to

Police Brutality Must Understand The History, Definition...
Before we talk about police brutality we must understand the history, definition and benefits of
policing in the civilized world in which we live in. Wikipedia s definition is, Wikipedia [1] a police
force is a constituted body of persons empowered by the state to enforce the law, protect property, and
limit civil disorder. Their powers include the legitimized use of force. The term is most commonly
associated with police services of a sovereignty state that are authorized to exercise the police power
of that state within a defined legal or territorial area of responsibility. Police forces are often defined
as being separate from military or other organizations involved in the defense of the state against
foreign aggressors; however, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
http://www.aphf.org/hist.html [2] In 1636 the city of Boston established Night Watch, which idea
worked reasonably well as long as the area remained a rural and agrarian one. New York City
established the Shout and Rattle Watch in 1651 however, in 1705, Philadelphia found it necessary to
divide the city into ten patrol areas. As the United States of America was born and the population
increased as did the urgency of keeping order and civil rest. Beginning with Sheriff s in the counties,
policing was then instituted in all forms of government agencies, utilizing the gendarmerie principle
and paid with taxes by the citizens of the land. As our country developed and became more populated
and civil, so did the number of officers in the police agencies across our country. Each individual
community differs on issues ranging from drug abuses, theft and now more prevalent, police brutality.
In order to understand the reasons behind the widespread use of force by police officers, we have to
understand contributing factors. Robert E. Worden connects theories of police brutality with new
evidence on the use of force by police. Researched: (Lundman, 1974; South and Visher, 1981)
concluded that the demeanor of suspect influences arrest. Arrest is more likely if you are disrespectful

The April 2010 BP Horizon Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico
These two studies investigated the effects of the April 2010 BP Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of
Mexico, and the observable effects that it has had on coral reef and salt marsh ecosystems. The study
conducted by White investigated nine coral communities six months after the spill using ROVs. In an
area 11 km west of the spill site, the researchers studied scleractinian, gorgonian, antipatharian corals
and found many that were covered with floc, a brown flocculent material, that is linked to coral tissue
damage and mortality. The study conducted by Silliman et. al. investigated the oil spill impacts on the
salt marshes lining the Louisiana coast. Silliman and his team identify oil spills as one of the most
damaging forms of pollution due to their unpredictable nature and associated lack of readily available
tools and resources that would be needed to restrict their impact on nearby ecosystems. The team
studied salt marshes located in Barataria Bay, LA which was one the regions that experienced some of
the most extensive oiling from the spill. The team investigated the current status and future impacts of
the spill on the marshes. Past data revealed that negative impacts on marshes could be corrected with
plant re growth and oil degradation that naturally occurs with time, and at even faster rates in warmer
climates, which provides a hopeful outlook for the LA region. In addition to the direct effects of
oiling, the team also analyzed the geomorphic effects that may be a

How Kids Learn Resilience Summary
The Falsehood of Resilience
The article How Kids Learn Resilience is written by Paul Tough and she confesses for all our talk
about non cognitive skills, nobody has yet found a reliable way to teach kids to be grittier or more
resilient (Tough 3). A new idea is developing that these characteristics are not found in teaching but
through environmental forces inside the classroom and at home. In the article researchers, economists,
American schools, and teachers showcase how grit and resilience can be placed in the minds of young
children and in the middle and high school stages. The author takes us on a journey through different
theories, studies, and programs to help grasp a better understanding of how young children and
teenagers can develop ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In comparison, this viewpoint alternated my opinion as Dante Cicchetti displays research on the
determinants of resilience in maltreated children is presented as an illustration of empirical work that
is moving from single level to multilevel investigations of competent functioning in the face of
adversity and trauma .
For many different intellectuals in this article feel as though all our talk about noncognitive skills,
nobody has yet found a reliable way to teach kids to be grittier or more resilient (3). As a result, Paul
Tough does not build a logical argument because nobody can determine how a person obtains
grittiness.
Due to this topic being so broad, there is no definite answer to how an individual can truly learn
resilience. Also, in the article How Kids Learn Resilience Paul Tough emphasizes the point that non
cognitive traits like grit, self regulation, optimism, and resilience simply cannot be taught. In this case,
I agree but on the other hand, she reveals that it is being built through student centered environments,
which include both a sense of belonging and academic

Media And Mass Shootings
In my essay, I argue that the media, in particular the news, has a bigger influence in mass shootings
then other stimuli like; access to guns, violent video games, and mental illness. By exploring the news
role in mass shootings we can begin to discuss the changes that can be made in the way they
broadcast. While the news believes they are just doing their duty and reporting the news while also
honoring the victims, there really just honoring the perpetrator. With the news portraying the culprit as
a hero, relieving what and how many weapons he used, and the amount of people he or she killed they
help encourage future perpetrators to beat the score . There are several definitions for what consists of

Auto Industry in Canada
To fully understand why Canada is one the wealthiest nations in the world, we need to pay particular
attention to Canada s economic history. The economic history of our country has been marked by
many important events that have paved the way for a successful economic future. A brief economic
history of Canada would pay particular attention to important events such as the economic boom of
the 1920s, the dark times of the 1930s; the Second World War during the 1940s and to also not forget
the important trade agreements such as the auto pact and the NAFTA. Despite the above mentioned
important events, Canadian economy has also been greatly influenced by its own economic sectors.

The increase in employment contributed to an increase in the lifestyles of Canadians. Also government
revenues increased with the expansion of the automobile industry. They had to find a way to maintain
the roads therefore licensing and gas fees were introduced. The automakers did not only increase the
lifestyle of the people in the southern provinces but they had a big impact on the western provinces
also. Agriculture was one of the many industrial sectors that benefited from the automakers. With cars
being built it was now easier for the farmers to sell their products in the market. They now had a more
comfortable way to travel and this made their jobs easier. Also the introduction of the farm tractors
was a big help in the agriculture industry. The farm tractors increased crop quantities and livestock
volume. The tractor was a great invention as it was more efficient and less time consuming.
One of the negative impacts of the automobile industry in Canada is that of the regional economic
imbalances between the provinces. With the manufacturing being heavily concentrated in Ontario, the
other provinces of Canada do not get the same economic output as Ontario does. Ontario is considered
by far the wealthiest province. The province generates almost 50 percent of Canada s GDP which
translates into a staggering 675 billion dollars. Many

Nv200 Week 3 Swot Analysis Of Nissan
Did you know Nissan has a burgeoning commercial vehicle business? This Japanese automaker with a
huge manufacturing and distribution presence in the United States has pickup trucks, vans, and taxis
designed with commercial customers in mind. With this division, Nissan has successfully carved out a
significant slice of business in a highly competitive segment.
One of those vehicles is the NV200, a compact cargo van expressly designed to meet the needs of
business enterprises. The NV200 is the ideal complement to the full size NV, itself a competitor to the
Ford Transit, Chevrolet Express, and GMC Savana. The NV was introduced in 2012.
As for the NV200, it followed the larger van to the market in 2013 and directly competes against the

Key Safety Features
Neither the NHTSA or the IIHS has crash tested the Nissan NV200.
You do get such standard safety equipment such as a suite of airbags, vehicle dynamic control, and a
tire pressure monitoring system.
Opt for the rear sonar system package ($250) if you frequently back your vehicle into place. This
system works when the ignition is on and the transmission shifter is in reverse. The system detects
obstacles behind the vehicle as far away as six feet. As you move the NV200 closer to the obstacle, the
rate of the warning tone will increase. The tone shifts to a continuous output when you re within one
foot of the obstacle, effectively signaling you to stop the van. It is a switch operated system too, one
you can turn off on demand. The system automatically resets when the ignition is turned off and best
works at speeds no higher than 3 mph.
On the Road
Nissan offers one powertrain combination with the NV200. A 2.0 liter four cylinder engine making
131 horsepower and 139 pound feet of torque is paired with a continuously variable automatic

Oscar Romero Essay
Remembering a Hero
You can only describe him as a man of determination. Someone who demonstrates
extraordinary courage in the face of injustice and inhumanity. He had a resolute intent to do what is
right, true, and just, which made him the Archbishop that people remember and make movies about.
Because of him, the world was informed about basic human rights and dignities and how this was
being
ignored in his country of El Salvador. He took it upon himself to use the church as a light of hope to
the oppressed and a challenge to the oppressors.

statement.
After he delt with the death of a close religious friend he experienced the loss of a close
social friend, Lucia. These two knew each other for a long time, and had ancestral ties. The death of
her truly meant certain death to a part of him. Both his religious and social walls had been knocked
down by the government and he was becoming continually frustrated and fed up at this point. When
he was stripped in the village it is suitable to compare him to Jesus Christ. It is in the bible where too,
Jesus is stripped of his clothing in public in order to embarrass and ridicule him in front of his
followers
and tyrants. They both fought for their beliefs and in the end won. Although, both lost their lives,
we try to continually preach their messages and in doing are living their memory.
I think when he made the quote, Peace is not the product of fear. Peace is not the silence of
cemeteries. . ., on January 8, 1978, he is proclaiming the real core of what his whole crusade against
injustice is all about. He goes on to talk about how we must all give to the action of

The Last Thesis Tuesday is the day to grasp knowledge of the most essential lesson a mentor can

college, Morrie Schwartz reunited sixteen years after Mitch graduated from Brandeis University and
following Mitch learning of the disease, ALS, deteriorating his teacher; the two decided they would

Although every chapter there is a simple lesson being illustrated, Morrie s tough skin allows him to
push through a terrible disease and make the most of the time he still has left. In the fourth chapter,
Morrie talks about death and gives the advice, once you learn how to die, you learn how to live
(Albom 82). To emphasize, Morrie is going through a fatal disease, and even though he knows he is
going to pass away, he continues to push through adversity. Most people, when faced with affiliation
collapse. Instead, Morrie takes the worst in situations, learns from it, and becomes a better person
because of it. Mitch is attempting to get the reader to persevere through any troubling obstacle tossed
their way. Additionally. Albom has a simplistic writing style that I enjoyed; it made for an easy read.
The book flowed well even though it would bounce back to reflect on their past at the end of every
chapter. I still enjoyed this aspect of the book because it gave me a glimpse into their previous
relationship together and helped me understand the book better. The only complaint I have is the short
read: 199 pages. Albom could have expanded the story with extra details so the reader was able to
savor the book longer. Overall, Mitch Albom does a remarkable job of telling his story in the form of a

(250/250) After I had taken AP Biology during my junior year, I decided that I wanted to become a researcher. The topics that I have learned from the class will be a great base for the program. The summer after the class, I participated in a program called Junior Research Scientists, where I became familiar with the research process. With a group, I conducted an experiment on which form of light concentration produces the most power from pv cells. I also learned about robotics, electricity, and made biodiesel. I am currently taking Biochemistry and AP Computer Science A to better prepare me as a researcher. • 3. Regional Differences In The United States Between 1800 And... The first half of the nineteenth century in the United States of America was a time of tremendous change for the nation. Firstly, change began as Thomas Jefferson was elected president, which meant the beginning of the Democratic Republicans reign in office. But this development of the modern United States led not to a unified nation, yet it led to one divided. The expansion and development of ideas and land exposed great regional differences in the United States between 1800 and 1848. Jefferson s Louisiana Purchase had not only provided the country with land to farm, but it had doubled the size of the United States. Decisions over what to do with the new land separated the country. This is clearly seen in disputes concerning the United States ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Iceberg In Now I Lay Me, By Ernest Hemingway The word iceberg is most likely a Dutch term ijsberg, which translates to ice mountain; only one eighth of the mass can be seen above the surface of the water ( Iceberg Facts ). Iceberg also refers to a theory/style of writing which Ernest Hemingway was famous for. Now I Lay Me is a short story written about a religious man during war who refuses to fall asleep for fear of death and the dark. At least that is the surface version of the story. However, like the iceberg, the seven eighths of the story Now I Lay Me is below the surface forming a deeper perspective which leads the reader to the hidden heart of the story. Hemingway wrote the short story after his bout in the war. In Now I Lay Me, Hemingway effectively utilizes the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From within the deeply hidden mountains of Now I Lay Me are many examples. On the surface, the character, Senor Tenente Nick, while trying to stay awake, allows the reader to see his thoughts and memories of fishing and the bait he used, not only to reminisce but, mainly, to stay awake. The character would no longer use salamanders and crickets ...because of the way they acted about the hook (Hemmingway, Ernest). This sentence, under the surface, symbolizes the knowledge of impending doom. The character saw himself as the bait, knowing they were going to die. Senor Tenente was unable to put the bait through the torcher like he and his fellow soldiers at war. Additionally, the character again recalls memories from childhood to stay awake; I remember the snakes burning in the fire in the back yard. But there were no people in that, only things (Hemmingway, Ernest). Hemingway, again through the iceberg style, illustrations the unspoken of horrors seen through Senor Nick s mind. Nick is likening the burning things/snake to the dead and burning bodies of war; he is thankful it s not human. It also relays the constant bombardment of thoughts on war and death. Moreover, Nick preferred to sleep with a light on or during the daylight; If I could have a light I was not afraid to sleep, because I knew my soul would only go out of me if it were dark (Hemmingway, Ernest). This sentence predicates the near death experience of the character, in hours of darkness and sleep, during the war. The title Now I Lay Me is a portion of a nighttime religious prayer, which is again noticed when the reader chooses to dive below the surface; Senor Tenente is also a religious man who prays for everyone he ever knew to keep alluding ... • 5. The Mere Nature Of The Soliloquy By William Shakespeare The mere nature of the soliloquy is to enter the thoughts of a specific character It is a simple idea. It would make sense that Shakespeare employs this literary method to reveal something about Hamlet s own internal struggle in any given soliloquy. Hamlet is an conflicted and self disparaging individual who often finds himself toiling with his own ideas and movies frequently. But the first soliloquy is used to reveal to the audience that Hamlet is furious at his mother and Claudius, even before he learns his father was supposedly murdered by the new king. The fury toward Claudius and Gertrude alone is enough to make Hamlet even contemplate suicide, Or that the Everlasting had not fix d/ His canon gainst self slaughter (Shakespeare, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By comparing corruption to a rotting plant, Shakespeare manages to insert a large, overarching theme into a few sentences of a soliloquy. While there is micro juxtaposition in the sentences and metaphors in the soliloquy, the first passionate soliloquy provides a striking contrast to the artificial dialogue that Hamlet must exchange with Claudius in court. The juxtaposition of tone emphasizes how rules and customs of the royal court that foster corruption. Shakespeare also juxtaposes spiritual things and earthly things, O, that this is too too sullied flesh would melt,/ Thaw and resolve itself into dew (10). Hamlet is disgusted by the earthly flesh he has to live in and wishes to be something pure and spiritual like dew. The earthly things to hamlet, like soil and weeds, are gruesome. To Hamlet, the world is corrupt and so are the people in it. Shakespeare juxtaposes the earthly with the divine in order to show how Hamlet, while he wanting to be pure, is trapped on earth by some obligation, such as a canon gainst self slaughter (10). The ban on suicide is also a symbol for Hamlet s obligation to stay in the royal court until things are set right. Allusion is also implemented to emphasize the corruption that is slowly taking over the Royal court. Shakespeare has Hamlet compare his father, his mother, and his uncle all to different Greek and Roman mythological figures. Hamlet firsts makes the comparison of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Albuquerque: University of New Mexico Press, 2001. Andrien s book is a historical summary of the Andean region from native people to after the Spanish conquest. It addresses economy, culture, and the importance of religion, as well as power structures. There is an emphasis on the continued existence of indigenous culture despite Spanish involvement for hundreds of years. The book is important in situating the context in which Rose of Lima lived and the native traditions that would have influenced her and her family. Andrien s book can be used in understanding the historical events that led up to Spanish rule and the importance of Catholicism and the power it held over the native people and how it was used to establish Spanish control. Advancements in technology over the past ten to fifteen years has allowed us to network wirelessly anywhere in the world. There are remote areas in the world that do not allow wireless networking due to resources being unavailable, at least for now. The world of networking is continuously growing. I would predict that with initiatives such as Facebook s WiFi Drone, WiFi will be available everywhere in the world no matter your location. The term WiFi is a trademark of the WiFi alliance, a trade association who promotes LAN technologies and certifies products. The term WiFi was adopted in 1999 as a branding term. It is an acronym for wireless fidelity. Any device that has a stamp of WiFi certification must meet the IEEE 802.11 standards meaning that the devices capabilities are compatible with other certified devices. In 1985, the FCC released what is known as the ISM Band for unlicensed use. • 12. Environmental Effects Of Organic Pollution And Its Effects... Organic pollutants normally originate from numerous human activities which include manufacturing, managing storing, and disposal of chemicals. Industrial places are a contributor of the contaminations that besiege our environment and this does not stop there as the oil refineries on their own in some countries cause unquantifiable damages to their land and water bodies. Agricultural activities which involve use of pesticides and insecticide also contribute, not to talk of households generally. THE CHEMICAL INDUSTRY This is another instance within the feel, commonly due to the fact their waste is known to pollute waste streams. In real sense, the waste discharge from chemical industry at the moment are adequately managed and treated earlier than being launched into the environment. There were no facilities to effect this treatment in the past and so there is a considerable level of damages which has already struck the water bodies due to this waste disposal by industries. Even though efforts have commenced to beat to the barest minimum this sort of pollutants, its impact continues have not totally vanished. HOUSEHOLD CHEMICALS There are release of substances which are products of chemical organics that not only affects the environment but takes decades for it to decompose. We use most of these products in our environment and though not many know the harms it because they are largely disastrous to the environment. There are massive campaigns against the use of polythene bags as well as pet bottles because of the harms which their accumulation causes to the water bodies and animals in the sea. Chemical substances which contaminate the environment would not out rightly present themselves as contaminants because some are useful environ to man. This leads to the detergent we use in our laundry, the constituent of this detergents are not only beneficial but they are also in turn return devastating characteristics to land. Persecution Against An Unchartered Jargon Essay Persecution Against an Unchartered Jargon The Webster Dictionary defines the word language as the system of words or signs that people use to express thoughts and feelings to each other as well as any one of the systems of human language that are used and understood by a particular group of people (Webster Dictionary). If language is a tool dedicated as a communication source to understand one another, why is the way certain people talk being neglected and marked as not an actual language? Language has evolved into more than just words being expressed through our voices, but has converted into a weapon used to ridicule and attack other dialects due to how different and unorthodox a particular language may be. James Baldwin in If Black English Isn t a Language, Then Tell me, What is? argues that Black English was a form of the African American community s own dialect of the English language, and neglecting the language as its own contradicts the definition of the word language itself. Bell hooks explores and points out the class differences within our society and not just within our colleges major universities, pointing out how in which assimilation is not inevitable and not required wherever an individual enters. I will first introduce the two basic equations that the Solow model is built around, discussing the main assumptions made along the way. I will then present the key equation of the Solow model and discuss its results and implications. I will then address why it is desirable to use log linearization, and how it can be used to study the dynamics near the steady state. We will then briefly look into the empirical results of Mankiw et al. (1992) and what they mean for the Solow model. We begin with the aggregate production function of the model. I did not realize that water could have such a huge impact on the way Michigan was made. From doing research, I recognized that there has been four Ice Ages on Earth. The last Ice Age, Pleistocene Epoch began and ended two million years to 12,000 years. At this time, hot and cold temperatures swayed and glaciers receded to advance into the interglacial periods. In the United States, and around the world glaciers have carved out our landscape, making what the world is today. The first glaciers circulated south from what is now Canada. From what I ve researched the Great Lakes were once riverbeds, which provided the glaciers perfect passage to the south. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sand dunes are mounds of windblown sand, which vary greatly in size, from less than one meter to tens of meters high. The size depends upon the supply of sand. Many of the more recognizable dune forms are ridges or complexes of mounds or crescents. The shape of individual dunes is equally variable. Shape relates to the direction and strength of the wind forming it, as well as to the amount of sand available. The impressive sand dunes along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan were created by the prevailing westerly winds blowing the sand deposited along the beaches into the dune ... • 21. Research Paper On Peaky Blinders In the last five years there has been an enormous shift in the way television is consumed, largely due to the growing availability of content online. The internet has brought the power of what, when and where a program is consumed into the hands of the viewer (Pittman Sheehan, 2015). This has caused a surge in both the amount, and the frequency of television consumed, leading to a growth of a viewing practice known as binge watching (Matrix, 2014; Pittman Sheehan, 2015). Streaming services, such as Netflix, have helped to facilitate this change in consumption practices (Pittman Sheehan, 2015). Netflix is an online streaming platform with a large variety of television programs and movies, which are made available to subscribers for a small monthly fee. Some of the content is exclusive to the streaming site, and others have originated elsewhere but are now available through the streaming service. Peaky Blinders is a show that falls into the latter category, having originally aired on BBC Two in the United Kingdom. The first three seasons of Peaky Blinders have recently been made available on Netflix. As shown in my media journal, this was how I consumed this program. While Peaky Blinders was not originally distributed as a program to binge watch, it does meet several of the criteria which makes it a program ideal for this type of consumption. Peaky Blinders is a British crime drama about a Birmingham gang of the same name, set just after the First World War. Each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. Creation, Destruction And Imagination In Kubla Kahn Kubla Kahn There are likely many themes that are worth mentioning in Kubla Khan . Some of the things are complementary to each other, while others, such as creation and destruction, are opposites, yet are often found together. Many of the themes are positive while others are negative. There is a sense of mystery that pervades the poem, such that the meaning is largely left up to interpretation. Kubla Khan tells a story, yet it also seems to be trying to make a point. Some of the more noticeable themes in this poem are creation, destruction, and imagination. Psychological interpretations of the poem reveal a strong sexual undertone (Heninger, 358). This, of course, contributes to the theme of creation. The poem goes, And here were forests ancient as the hills , referring to forests that were present during the creation of the world. By woman wailing for her demon lover! This torrid line seems to suggest the strong sexual undertones mentioned earlier. And, of course, where there is sexual references there is often the prospect, at least, of creation. Could I revive within me Her symphony and song . This question seeks to determine whether the song could be sung in the manner. The song is dead, but needs to be recreated with me, the voice of the poem. I would build that dome in air , the building of the structure of course entails its creation. From some sort of material the dome represents a transformation from rawness to a fully formed dome, standing on its own. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. The Arguments For And Against Free Trade Evaluate the arguments for and against Free Trade. Free trade which is also known as laissez faire has been around since the Nineteenth century. Free trade is a built constructive thing which allows trade to be easily transportable between nations and states. Due to this there has been many unfair calls but also beneficial to some. Also it brings about tension as everyone would like to input an agreement based on what suits them. This evaluation is divided into four main sections. It will first consider what free trade is and how is operates in order for the reader to understand the actual concept of free trade. It will then go on to describe the arguments for and against free trade. The third part compares the two arguments and comes up with an evaluation on the two. Finally, some conclusions will be drawn as to which evaluation has a stronger point. Free trade is built on the principle that if more people are freely available to engage in mutually beneficial exchange, that this will mean the world resources are used more efficiently, more people will become wealthy as a result. And those countries can specialise economically what they do best and produce more efficient trade that they don t have easy to them. I really enjoy I am Legend because it is a story about Robert Neville (Will Smith) and his dog Samantha, a German shepherd, surviving in a zombie apocalypse in the heart of New York City. He then locks them in a smaller emergency locker, and tells them to get the cure to other scientists and fix it all. He then shuts the door and pulls a grenade out of a desk drawer. Looking at all the infected in the room he pulls the pin and opens the door ending his life and killing all the infected in the area. Anna and Ethan then find their way to other people and scientists and were able to save the world because of the work of Robert Neville. The plot was based on a 1954 horror book I am Legend by Richard Matheson. This story is what he is most well known for and made him popular. Richard had many great works and those got him the chance to write sixteen episodes for the popular television show The Twilight Zone. The April 2010 BP Horizon Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico These two studies investigated the effects of the April 2010 BP Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, and the observable effects that it has had on coral reef and salt marsh ecosystems. The study conducted by White investigated nine coral communities six months after the spill using ROVs. In an area 11 km west of the spill site, the researchers studied scleractinian, gorgonian, antipatharian corals and found many that were covered with floc, a brown flocculent material, that is linked to coral tissue damage and mortality. The study conducted by Silliman et. al. investigated the oil spill impacts on the salt marshes lining the Louisiana coast. Silliman and his team identify oil spills as one of the most damaging forms of pollution due to their unpredictable nature and associated lack of readily available tools and resources that would be needed to restrict their impact on nearby ecosystems. The team studied salt marshes located in Barataria Bay, LA which was one the regions that experienced some of the most extensive oiling from the spill. The team investigated the current status and future impacts of the spill on the marshes. Past data revealed that negative impacts on marshes could be corrected with plant re growth and oil degradation that naturally occurs with time, and at even faster rates in warmer climates, which provides a hopeful outlook for the LA region. In addition to the direct effects of oiling, the team also analyzed the geomorphic effects that may be a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
