The Controversy On Iran s Nuclear Program
I.
Topic Description
Iran s Nuclear Program
The Islamic Republic of Iran s conquest for nuclear energy technology commenced during the 1950 s,
inspired by U.S President Dwight Eisenhower s program called Atoms for Peace . This program
fabricated a plan in which the U.S Atomic Energy Commission would lend Iran as much as 13.2
pounds of low enriched uranium in order to further develop their nuclear industries, including health
care and medicine.i Two years following the agreement, Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi established
the Tehran Nuclear Research Center at the Tehran University, and the United States to arranged to
supply a five megawatt reactor. Several years later, in July of 1968, Iran signed the Nuclear Non
Proliferation Treaty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

It became known in the 1990 s that Iran had certainly renewed their civilian nuclear projects, and
Western tension continued to increase following 2002 and 2003 reports that Iran began clandestine
research into fuel enrichment and conversion. This sparked international controversy over the
intentions behind Iran s nuclear program beyond civilian or peaceful purposes. For example, the
Isfahan Nuclear Technology Center is suspected to house Iran s nuclear weapons programs, and is also
the alleged location of Iran s uranium conversion efforts.iv It is estimated that as many as 366 tons of
uranium hexafluoride has been produced since 2004. This is then fed into centrifuges at another key
site: the Natanz enrichment facility.
Still, Iran continuously denies that its nuclear objectives are to construct atomic weapons, but a large
majority of the international community remains skeptical to the legitimacy of this claim due to the
secrecy of Iran s productions and their refusal to cooperate with the IAEA on several notable
occasions. However, in defense over the concerns pertaining to the secrecy of Iran s program, Iran s
former ambassador to the United Nations, Mohammed Javad Zarif, claims Western tension and
dwindling support for Iran s early nuclear energy programs forced Tehran with no choice but to
continue their nuclear activities in a discreet matter. Zarif wrote in Colombia University s Journal of
International Affairs, To avoid the

In 2004, Wal Mart responded by testing their own dollar store concept, a subsection of some stores
known as Pennies n Cents. Wal Mart has struggled in other foreign markets. For example, in Germany,
it had captured just 2% of German food sales following its entry into the market in 1997 and had
remained a secondary player compared to competitor Aldi which boasts 19% share of the German
market. In July 2006, Wal Mart announced its withdrawal of operations from Germany because of
sustained losses. Its stores are to be sold to German company METRO AG. In China, Wal Mart is a
small fish as its strategy of everyday low prices has not been successful against Chinese mom and pop
shops that are used to cutthroat pricing. In May 2006, Wal Mart withdrew from the South Korean
market when it agreed to sell all 16 of its South Korean outlets to Shinsegae, a local retailer, for $882
million who are as of late 2006 re branding the country s Wal Marts as E mart. Wal Mart had
originally entered the South Korea market in 1998. In the UK, Wal Mart s ASDA subsidiary is the
second largest chain after Tesco. Specifically, ASDA is a distant second to Tesco in the UK grocery
market, and as of 2006 the gap is widening, based on market share figures published by TNS
Worldpanel (Wikipedia). C. Economic climate and outlook Wal Mart Chief Executive Lee Scott

How Does Sarty Show Identity In Barn Burning
In William Faulkner s story Barn Burning, a ten year old boy, Sarty develops his own identity as he is
trying to resolve the conflict between his loyalty to Abner, his father and accepted social norms of
justice. Sarty is raised by a very poor family in the south who make their means by sharecropping. The
family represents the lot of sharecroppers who have no intentions of improving the conditions of their
life. The sharecroppers work on farms with rich landowners; Abner is a rebel and shows his anger
towards his life by burning landowners barns. Abner influences Sarty, and drives him toward manhood
prematurely by continually putting Sarty in a position to choose between his father s idea of justice
and his own, because of this Sarty is left to decide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sarty disapproves of the barn burning and knows that everyone is just looking for the truth and for the
justice system to exact wrongs done. When the first barn burning scene happens the African American
who runs to tell the owner therefore Sarty didn t have to decide whether to tell the owner or let it burn.
In the second barn burning there is a lack of an African American and Sarty has to make his own
decisions. This barn burning Sarty turns against his father. The quote, If I had said they wanted only
truth, justice, he would have hit me again (Faulkner 3). When his father was talking to him it was
obvious that Sarty went into deep thought about this. He was clearly conflicted as what to do. When
he finally told the Peace of the Justice the truth Abner disapproved. Abner s as well had a very
different idea of what Justice was. The moment when Sarty finally began to question is quoted here, I
could run on and on and never look back, never need to see his face again (Faulkner 9). Sarty starting
to think about this more seriously shows he has become a man. Men make their own decisions. Sarty
is young but all that he is put through is the reason why he

1. Describe some reasons why Linux is installed on only a very small fraction of desktop computers.
Are there particular categories of products or users who might see Linux as more appealing than
conventional operating systems? Do you think Linux s share of the desktop market will increase? Why
or why not?
Linux, or what is here and there known as Unix on a lesser scale is considered and institutionalized on
the premise of an open source framework and free for conveyance (Eckert, 2016). The principle
reason we see Linux utilized on a constrained premise is because we live in a prevalently Windows
Operating System world. Another component conflicting with Linux is that being open source, you
need to go get it and really put it on the PC yourself as a client and this is something that numerous
clients are somewhat hesitant to attempt and fulfill. A third variable that ... Show more content on

Describe the hardware and software requirements of your chosen information system. Be sure to
consider both the server side and client side hardware and software. If you do not have access to
specific details about the server side hardware and software, make reasonable assumptions based on
the kind of hardware and software that you believe would be necessary to run your system.
Since my system is a web based system, this is something that will be a little difficult to answer in this
short of time frame. For the user, the hardware could be anything from a smart phone to regular
desktop computer, providing they have one of the primary browsers to access the web and load the

Influencing Group Communications
Influencing Group Communication
Leadership Styles and Group Communication Before discussing leadership styles and their affects on
group communications of a specific company, it is important to first identify the organizational
structure of that company. Different organizational structures may lend themselves more toward
specific leadership styles then others. A company s individual organizational structure is a formal
composition of task reporting relationships that allows the company to control, coordinate, and
motivate employees so a common goal can be achieved (George Jones, 2005, p. 505). Coordinate in
this context refers to the communication efforts made between upper management, middle
management, site management, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Knowing this about the Starbucks organizational structure and it s philosophies, it is easy to see how
the first four leadership types under Transactional Leader alone (Laissez Faire, Management by
Exception Passive, Management by Exception Active, and Contingent Reward) would not be
conducive to communication, productivity, or work satisfaction among the partners. As part of Mr.
Schultz multifaceted turnaround plan, the chain launched MyStarbucksIdea.com in July 2008 as a
forum for consumers and partners to make suggestions, ask questions, and in some cases, vent their
frustrations. The website now has over 180,000 registered users. Some 80,000 ideas have been
submitted (many of them duplications), and 50 of which have been implemented in stores (York,
2010). Not only does Starbucks utilize their own website to capture the trends and feeling of its
customers, it also has a very successful Facebook and Twitter following. Charles Bruzzo, VP Brand,

digital and physical. He enlisted the help of Brad Nelson, form barista who rose through its IT ranks,

It is going to be okay, we will get through this as a family. Mom said, softly.
The ceaseless comfort from my mom really encouraged me to embrace it and be thankful for this
experience. Finally, July 1st, 2010 rolled around and we took off, I tried to sleep most of the air time
to get Costa Rica off my mind and wake up from this nightmare. Landing and stepping foot in Costa
Rica was mostly a blur. We drove home from the airport to our condo in the evening and I just cried. It
was soon the end of August which meant school was right around the corner. I wasn t too excited, but
I was a little anxious to see what God had in store for me. We hopped in the car, and were on the way.
I walked into my new school, Country Day, and acknowledged the wind carried the sound of the
chitter chatter of my fellow classmates, lockers slamming as hard as nails and the howling of the
spider monkey. The halls were outdoor and you could see the never ending mountains and feel the
gentle breeze swaying back and forth. I enjoyed the first day and couldn t wait to go back for more.

crime, my other half, Sibley. She helped me see the good in situations and inspired me to be outgoing
and carefree. Our families became best friends and went on adventure after adventure together. The

The Human Immune System Of Multiple Structures
The human immune system consists of multiple structures. These structures include the following:
tonsils and adenoids, thymus, lymph nodes, spleen, appendix, lymphatic vessels, and bone marrow.
HIV involves many structures/components of the immune system, so it is important to understand the
structures and function of each involved component. Calles, Evans, and Terlonge (2010) clearly
explain the parts of the immune system affected by HIV.
To begin the immune system uses antigens to help fight against infection by working with antibodies
to produce an immune response (Calles, Evans, Terlonge, 2010). Furthermore, the immune system
produces lymphocytes (i.e. also known as white blood cells). There are two types of lymphocytes
produced, B cells and T cells. B cells remain in bone marrow (i.e. where B and T cells are made) and
T cells move to the thymus (Calles, Evans, Terlonge, 2010). After their migration, T cells finish cell
development, become immunocompetent, replicate, and differentiate. There are two important
functions of T cells, which include maintenance of the immune system and destroying cells with
certain antigens. There are distinct T cells which are identified by surface markers (Calles, Evans,
Terlonge, 2010). Concerning HIV, CD4+ are impacted the most. These cells are responsible for
triggering B cells and macrophages when an antigen is present (Calles, Evans, Terlonge, 2010).
Furthermore, T cells discharge cytokines, which are involved in

Progenitor Cell Vascularization
The trachea is an organ particularly prone to infections as it functions to transport atmospheric air,
containing a multitude of airborne bacteria and viruses, to the lungs. When these microorganisms enter
the respiratory system the trachea s goblet cells secrete mucus to trap them and halt their progression
into the lungs. Ciliated epithelium within the lumen along with the cough reflex clears the secretions
from the trachea and excretes them through the mouth. Therefore it is important that when generating
a TET appropriate cell expansion and differentiation occurs. There are several proposed methods of
seeding a scaffold that include direct in vitro implantation, progenitor cell mobilization and adjacent
tissue cellular migration. Progenitor cell mobilization is promoted by ... Show more content on

Vascularization is done either through a shared blood supply from adjacent structure or angiogenesis
within the graft. Angiogenesis was confirmed in all patients by one month. The patient with
postmortem analysis showed the presence of capillary proliferation, whereas in the other patient
bleeding was elicited by bronchoscope contact of the graft within the lumen. These results show that
the grafts will likely not failure due to inadequate vascularization. Despite these promising results the
patients experienced stenosis and fungal infections that complicated their post operative periods.
Stenosis was identified in two patients along the distal anastomosis sites secondary to scar formation.
In both cases the stenosis responded well to serial balloon dilation. Fungal infections were found in
two patients, although one was likely caused by the pre and postoperative steroid administration.
Based on this it is suggested that patients with TET transplantation should be treated with prophylactic

Treating employees fairly
I believe treating employees fairly will promote employee working performance and avoid some of
the problems that come from employees.
When I did my first job in a bank, my manager didn t treat all employees fairly. He treated several
employees who had a good personal relationship with him much better than others. Those employees
had already worked with him for a long time before I joined the company. If they made a mistake, he
would try to cover up the mistake and made it seem like nothing happened. However, if other
employees, including me, made the same mistake, he would ask us to his office and have a severe
criticism on us. Once the department had a promotion opportunity, he ignored the working
performance and promoted an employee who had a good relationship with him.
Over time some of the employees lost their enthusiasm for their jobs, they didn t care about the
working performance any more. They just completed their work based on their working duties without
any additional contribution to the company. Some of them became sensitive to their working duties; if
a task was beyond their working duties, they wouldn t do it. Disputes over working duties often
occurred among the employees. Some of the employees began to complain about our manager.
Obviously, our manager didn t treat us in a fair manner. Fairness in the working place means that

The Importance Of An Effective Teacher
Educating is as intricate as the learning procedure is for each student. Educating is not just lecturing in
front of the class and later on give them tests to assess their knowledge. Being a teacher your style
must adapt constantly for the diversity of the children in our classroom as well as their learning styles.
To be viable in my work, planning and managing your time is crucial in setting up appropriate lesson
plans for the children. I trust that with information I have accumulated throughout the years on the
qualities of an effective teacher, I will have the capacity to arrange strategies and imaginatively design
strategies for difficulties and issues that I will experience in the classroom environment. The key to
success would be to always keep in mind the child s needs and to understand how society is evolving.
The learning process isn t the same in all children but instead it is an intricate procedure where each
student learns differently even as they get older. This occurs by the brain and its astounding ability to
recall occasions and learn things. Not all children are the same so it is important to figure out and
understand how their brain works. The brain is separated into three principle areas to be specific, the
forebrain which is in charge of the learning process, the midbrain and hindbrain. Located in the
midbrain is the cerebral cortex, which is in charge of memory, recognition and thought. Having
realized that the mind is involved in learning, it

Rafaello Sanzio Da Urbino
A picture is worth a thousand words, a phrase many I am sure have heard. Art can symbolize limitless
possibilities because many people perceive things differently. Art can form differing opinions and
produce different feelings for people. Any piece of art is able to do this, just like Raphael s painting,
named the School of Athens. Rafaello Sanzio da Urbino, or Raphael, is regarded as the leading artistic
figure of Italian High Renaissance classicism (Biography.com Editors). He is known for many
paintings, one which is widely known, is the School of Athens. The School of Athens is painted in the
Apostolic Palace in Vatican City(TotallyHistory). The painting was painted from the years of 1509 to
1510; Raphael uses fresco to make this beautiful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the School of Athens, the background with the blue sky and the entrance make the two philosophers
in the painting seem like godly, or powerful figures who possess knowledge of the world; they seem
like they have descended from the heavens. The painting makes it seem the two philosophers are
entering the church like place to share the knowledge that they carry with them. The people around
them are extracting the knowledge and passing it down to others on the left and right side of the
painting; some of the other individuals are taking notes in the painting and some are reading a piece of
paper or are listening to other philosophers that are present in the painting. In essence the middle of
the painting is where the foundation of knowledge began by two important figures. That knowledge
was then acquired by the individuals who are gathered around them. The individuals then passed it
down to the others, who preside in the left and right of the painting, which then continued the flow of
knowledge from one generation of people to the next. This is most likely why the painting has the
word school in it. School is essentially for passing knowledge or encouraging thought, which is what
we humans do. Composition plays a huge part in conveying the message of this particular art

pursuant to understanding cost behavior and forecasting future costs using publicly available data
from Continental Airlines. Specifically, the case focuses on the harsh financial situation faced by
Continental as a result of the recent financial crisis and the challenges it faces to remain profitable. It

Continental s internal forecasts indicated that a further decline in passenger volume should be
anticipated throughout 2009, with a recovery in travel possibly occurring by the middle of 2010.
To summarize, adverse economic conditions in the U.S., coupled with the rise in fuel costs, were
dragging down Continental s profits and relief was unlikely through the foreseeable future.
THE DECISION TO REDUCE FLYING CAPACITY AND THE IMPACT ON
OPERATING COSTS
Given the situation described above, management needed to act swiftly to restore profitability.
Several strategic options were evaluated. Since the U.S. and much of the world was facing a severe
recession, the prospect for growing revenues by either raising airfares or passenger volume seemed
futile. Contrary to raising revenue, Continental s managers believed that raising fares could potentially
erode future revenues beyond the present level. Discounting fares did not seem a plausible solution
either, because given the severity of the economic situation a fare cut could fall short in stimulating
additional passenger demand and lead to lowering revenues.
Thus, because management anticipated that revenues would remain flat for most of the year, the only
viable short term solution to restoring profits was a substantial and swift reduction in operating costs.
This could most effectively be accomplished in two ways. First, through a reduction in flying

Fireflies By Yoko Ota Analysis
The dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August of 1945 had caused
substantial damage and countless of lives lost. People had continued to suffer, whether if it was from
radiation injuries or rebuilding their lives, even years after the tragic events. In Kenzaburo Oe s
anthology The Crazy Iris and Other Stories of the Atomic Aftermath, is comprised of short stories
written by people who experienced and witnessed the events. They retell of their actual experience or
re create the emotions and events of the unforgettable day. In the story Fireflies written by Yoko Ota,
she illuminates the lives of the people in Hiroshima seven years after the exploding of the atomic
bombs. She tells of the struggles her family is facing, as well as many others, and looks how the
horrific injuries caused by the radiation affected the lives of A bomb survivors. Through the use of
imagery, simile, and personification, Ota depicts people trying to rebuild their lives, the lasting
memory of the event, and long lasting effects of the bomb. Therefore, Ota illustrates the struggle
people went through in order to recover and rebuild their lives which was not easily or quickly done.
In her story, she uses her family to depict the difficulty that many faced. For example, Ota describes
the living conditions that her family, as well as many other survivors, lives in which is a makeshift
shaft that lacked a ceiling and the fixtures did not fit properly, which was assembled on a

The Creature Of The Beast
In France in the late 1760 s, there was an atrocity that involved around one hundred animal attack
deaths caused by one creature, the infamous Beast of Gevaudan. Per Jaime Hill, the beast was the size
of a horse and looked like a bear, hyena, wolf, and panther hybrid. It had a long wolf or pig like snout.
Many researchers believed there were at least two, or more than two, beasts roaming the area. The
color of the beast changed every time the beast was spotted; it would go from red to red with grey and
white patches to red with stripes. Sometimes there would even be no red, it may just be black or white.
Locals believed it to be a werewolf, or a sorcerer who shapeshifted into a monstrous predator to feed
on human flesh. The beast was also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
June of 1767, a man said the beast could be killed, that he had found a way. He said he needed a holy
bullet made of silver, blessed by a holy man. He takes the ammunition into the forest and arrives back
to the village with a wolf. Villagers agree it is the beast and no beast is spotted afterwards. In 2000,
historians notice things do not add up; a wolf cannot remove someone s clothes. In 2011, researchers
concluded that Jean trained the wolf, killed the people, and then killed the wolf to make it look like a
beast. Still to this day, no one knows for sure what happened ( Mysteries at the Museum n.p.).
Per World of Mythology, the attacks of the beast started in 1764. People all around hunted every wolf
they could find, hoping it would be the beast, but the attacks continued. In 1765, Francois Antoine
killed a large grey wolf, but the attacks continued Also in 1765, a doctor came across a man in a wolf
suit assaulting a woman and killed him but the attacks still went on. Finally, a man by the name Jean
Chastel discovered that if a silver bullet is blessed by a church, it could kill the beast. Chastel got three
silver bullets blessed by the local church and went into the woods, returning with a dead wolf. This
was the final attack on a wolf by the time the attacks stopped. Chastel said he went into the woods and
found the giant wolf. He was the size of a horse and looked like a panther and wolf hybrid. He

Majority of the patients with TMD have relatively mild or infrequent symptoms which may improve
on their own within weeks or months with basic home therapy. Following simple remedies like eating
soft foods, applying ice or moist heat, and avoiding extreme jaw movements may aid in easing
symptoms. According to the NIH, because more studies are needed on the safety and effectiveness of
most treatments for jaw joint and muscle disorders, experts strongly recommend using the most
conservative, reversible treatments possible. Although TMJ disorders have become persistent, most
patients still do not need any aggressive types of treatment.

Managing human emotions plays a critical role in everyday functioning. After years of lively debate
on the significance and validity of its construct, emotional intelligence (EI) has generated a robust
body of theories, research studies, and measures (Stough, Saklofske, amp; Parker). There has been
work and many ideas by Jack Mayer, Peter Salovey, David Caruso, Daniel Goleman, and Steve Hein
to name a few. All researchers have different interpretations of the term emotional intelligence and
different visions of what emotional intelligence can mean for humanity (Hein, 2005). In 1985 Wayne
Leon Payne, then a graduate student at an alternative liberal arts college in the USA, wrote a doctoral
dissertation which included the term emotional intelligence in the title. This seems to be the first
academic use of the term emotional intelligence. In the next five years no one else seems to have used
the term emotional intelligence in any academic paper. Then in 1990 the work of two American
university professors, John Mayer and Peter Salovey, was published in two academic journal articles.
Mayer and Salovey were trying to develop a way of scientifically measuring the difference between
people s ability in the area of emotions. They found that some people were better than others at things
like identifying their own feelings, identifying the feelings of others, and solving problems involving
emotional issues. Since 1990 these professors

Addiction Problems And The Field Of Addiction Treatment Essay
understand their clients with addiction problems and motivate them to change. This model is one of
the most widely used models within the field of addiction treatment initially developed to describe the
process of adopting any healthy behavior. Motivational interviewing shares much in common with the
trans theoretical or Stages of Change Model of behavior change. Although not universally endorsed,
the trans theoretical model holds that at any given time, a person is at a particular stage in relation to
behavior change (Harvard Mental Health Letter, July 2008). The five Stages of Change are identified
as: precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action and maintenance. A client in the
precontemplation stage doesn t believe that her or his current behavior is a significant problem and
doesn t intend to change the behavior anytime in the near future. In the contemplation stage, a client
begins to see that the behavior is a problem and considers making a change but is ambivalent about
doing so because she or he also sees reason to keep things as they are. A client in the preparation stage
has decided to make a behavioral change and has a specific plan for doing so in the near future. In the
action stage, a client carries out a behavioral change plan and begins making the desired change.
Finally, in the maintenance stage, a client has made the behavioral change and works to avoid
relapsing into the original behavior. Throughout all stages, motivational

Ice-Fili Swot Analysis
Introduction
Ice Fili is currently competing in Russia s ice cream industry. Although they have expanded to other
products such as margarine and mayonnaise they will continue to focus on their core product line,
which is ice cream. The reasoning behind this is that their ice cream production constitutes the
majority of their profits and it is what Ice Fili is most skilled at.
The short term and long term corporate goals of Ice Fili are relatively similar in that they both are
concerned with dealing with their competitors. Ice Fili s short term goals are: To remain competitive
within the ice cream market and to maintain their status as market share leader. The long term goals
are: To gain market share over competitors such as Nestle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gaining a greater market share would allow Ice Fili the opportunity to integrate forward and sell their
products directly to customers. They could maybe even compete with Baskin Robbins and Ben and
Jerry s in the franchised restaurant business. Franchising is relatively cheap for the franchisor and is a
definite possibility for Ice Fili in the future.
Plan B
With increasing competition from domestic and foreign competitors more drastic plans may have to be
put into play. The ice cream industry as a whole has total sales of half a billion dollars a year. Ice Fili,
the dominant player in the industry, has only $25 million of it, which translates to a total of 5% market
share, which is shrinking. The reason why the dominant player commands such a small percentage of
the market is because there are over 300 companies of varying sizes competing for their share. To
survive in such an environment a company needs more than one distinctive competency. In the case of
Ice Fili, they do have excellent production capabilities, but they lack proper research and
development, they have little activity in marketing and little more in sales, a distribution system that is
inefficient, and a lack of an experienced management team to employ these capabilities. Therefore,
combining their distinctive competency of production with the distinctive competencies of another
company may be the logical and mutually beneficial option. There are

Legal Issues Surrounding Emergency Service Agencies
Introduction The Emergency Services organizations in the United States are complex and challenging
group s that are a required necessity of all communities, based on law. The fire service part of the
emergency services have been around over two hundred years and has been the backbone of many
emergency service agencies on how the culture is built and how everyday actions are completed
within the emergency services, there has been cultural ambivalence within the Emergency Service on
how to deal with employees, with the current laws and regulations. Many of the employment issues
within the emergency services have been due to the increase in members of the emergency services
pushing back on the old cultural practices of the agencies or governments who govern the emergency
service agencies. It is evident that in some incidents that the politics and old traditional cultures have
made issues of diversity, leadership issues and equal rights issues. There is growing professional
literary evidence that acknowledges the legal issues surrounding emergency service agencies (Rielage,
2008). Each and every level of government should have regulatory compliance rules and general
employment rules that all members of the organization must follow. Additionally, these rules must fall
within the Constitution and Civil Rights of each and all personnel involved in the organizations. Many
emergency service agencies are run as a separate part of a government agency and thus many times

The Virgins By Robert Herrick And His Coy Mistress By...
To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time by Robert Herrick and To His Coy Mistress by Andrew
Marvell, are two different, yet similar poems. While both are presented in Carpe Diem form, each
poem approaches seizing the day in alternative ways. Herrick s poem is a caution to young, virgin
women that they should make the most of the moment, to find love now and not wait. Marvell s poem
is directly addressing a specific person, and slowly seducing them. Eventually declaring that they
should act immediately on their urges. These two poems have similar themes, but the one constant
throughout, is time.
The speakers use imagery and metaphors to convey the effects of time and the transient prime of
youth. Herrick s poem is crafted in four stanzas using a rhyming scheme of ABAB, and is written in
four quatrains. Beginning in his first stanza, the speaker mentions of assembling young women and
telling them to grab life and live now. Herrick writes, Gather ye rosebuds while ye may / Old time is
still a flying / And this same flower that smiles today / Tomorrow will be dying (lines 1 4). The
speaker uses the images of rosebuds to symbolize youth and beauty. Once the flower peaks and
blooms, its beauty will fade. So, too, will the beauty of women as they grow older. Furthermore, in the
second stanza, the speaker sets the tone of the poem by writing, The glorious lamp of heaven, the sun /
The high he s a getting / The sooner will his race be run / And nearer he s to setting (5 8). The

Ancient Democracy Vs Modern Republic
Ancient Democracy Verses Modern Republic
This work consists of two major parts, one regarding types of governments within Nephite society and
a juxtaposition of ancient American democracy and modern American republicanism. Noel B
Reynolds of BYU stated in his work entitled Government and Legal History in the Book of Mormon,
that
The Nephites were ruled by hereditary kings from 550 to 91 B.C., when the rule changed to a reign of
judges. After the coming of Christ, two centuries of peace under the government of his Church were
followed by a breakdown of society into tribal units and finally by the destruction of the Nephites.

It was the will of the people to have a king though Nephi thought it better that they should have no
king, which is why he declined the title. For his service to them, the people titled their Kings Nephi I,
Nephi II and so forth, which prevailed for several hundred years before a political reformation
occurred under the last king, King Mosiah who gave the people a voice in the direction of their
government.
Nephi appears to have had no sons to inherit a leadership role, unless he purposely never mentioned
any in his record. Subsequently, consecrating a monarch for his people, Nephi separated the function
of high priest or prophet from the monarchy and abdicated ecclesiastical responsibility to his brother
Jacob creating a separation of religion and state. A monarchy consists of the ruling of a nation by one
family usually by hereditary decreed. Traditionally, monarchies have great civic authority and provide
identity for the nation.
The most revered monarch of the Nephites was King Mosiah, the last king because he granted the
Nephites equal status as citizens and a ruling class instead of a single monarch to guide the
government. The people elected to continue with the monarchy with the desire to compel one of the
sons of Mosiah to be the next king, though all declined. This provided Mosiah the opportunity to

The Myth Of The Chupacabra
Chupacabra is Spanish for goat sucker . The creature s name derives from stories in Latin America of
several dead goats with puncture wounds in their necks and all the blood drained from their bodies.
Most experts believe the Chupacabra to be a coyote with mange, which is a skin disease that can cause
their hair to fall out and the skin to shrivel. In humans, mange is just mildly annoying. But it can be
fatal in canines. Chupacabras have been described as resembling a rodent or reptile, with green gray
skin and a disgusting odor. Puerto Rican conspiracy theorists have claimed that the government is
covering up the truth of the Chupacabra in order to prevent panic. Author Benjamin Radford believes
there is a direct correlation between the Chupacabra and the creature in the film, (Species.) An article

The Works of William Carlos Williams
Humans today often overlook the simple things in life. They may overlook flowers in a garden that
may seem simple, but if under a microscope, the hidden things are visible to the eye. William Carlos
Williams wrote poetry that, when put under a microscope, the reader could see the true complexity of
the poem hidden beneath simplicity. William had an artistic eye, which he must have had inherited
from his parents, who were painters (Llanas 47). William Carlos Williams is as magically observant
and mimetic as a good novelist....how well he calls into existence our precarious, confused, partial
looking out at the world (qtd. Jarrell). William Carlos Williams s poems seem to be simple due to the
simple structure and vocabulary, but they have a complexity to them.
William Carlos Williams was born to William George Williams and Raquel Helene Rose Hobeb
Williams on September 17, 1883 in Rutherford, New Jersey. Williams attended the University of
Pennsylvania ultimately as a medical student there. It was at this university that he met Ezra Pound,
who somewhat influenced the start of Williams poetic career. Pound and Williams also started their
lifelong friendship upon meeting. According to M.L. Rosenthal from Modern American Poetry,
Williams had a desire to create specifically American poetics based on the rhythms and colorations of
American speech, thought, and experience. It is also evident in his literary works that Williams poetry

The Negative Effects Of Humanitarian Intervention
The basic principle of common morality states that humans have rights not as member of particular
community, but as members of human community and there is a common moral world (Rashid, 2012).
Human rights are shared universally but what happens when these human rights are violated? When is
the right time to intervene when someone is being harassed in the street? Humanitarian intervention
should occur then the targeted group s violation is violated to an extent where they can no longer
defend themselves. Humanitarian intervention may be seen as inefficient and ineffective due to the
time it takes to occur, and the bias that comes from the intervention, however humanitarian
intervention is necessary to monitor on a state s treatment towards it s citizens and it saves the lives of
the people in a state. Although humanitarian intervention faces a lot of criticism, it is important to note
that what may happen with or without intervention when a country faces problems. The positive
effects of humanitarian intervention would be that a new understanding of sovereignty would exits
(Krylov, 1995). What can be taken from this is that sovereignty is not absolute. In Allen Buchanan s
article, humanitarian intervention is often defined as an infraction of the sovereignty of the state
because of other states trying to protect human rights (Buchanan, 1999). This is often considered a
problem of morality because intervention of a state is viewed negatively. It is important to determine

Throughout the history of the American public education, lots of problems have emerged but with
some effort from enlightened men and the federal government they were successfully solved.
However, one of those problems that proved to be intractable over the years despite the many
solutions proposed for it was and still is the income achievement gap. Professor Sean R. Reardon, a

In 1965, it was the first government initiative toward a practical solution in attempting to contain this
uprising income achievement gap as they issued the Elementary and Secondary Education Act
(ESEA). Unsurprisingly, this act gained lots of popularity among education reformers at that time as
its objective was to provide equal education opportunities to all students nationwide whether they are
rich or poor. Nonetheless, the ESEA was just a quick, ready solution to provide funds to schools at that
time but not one that was extensively studied to ensure true equality in distributing those funds. Title I
of the Act, which is still implement in the new version of the ESEA that s now called the No Child
Left Behind Act of 2002, was the most important part which contained the initiative of providing
funds to eligible schools and the way they would be distributed. According to Phyllis McClure, a civil
rights activist who also served in the U.S. Office of Education s Title I Task Force, this Title I in
particular contained a loophole that allowed for poor schools to still not get their equal share of the
funds (McClure). The problem lied in what was called the comparability provision law of Title I
which allowed Title I schools, that uses a traditional budgeting system based on their average teacher
salary, to show a comparable expenditure of their teachers

My Thoughts On The Skills Essay
Introduction
In my essay, I will be reflecting on my thoughts and feelings on the skill practiced on the DVD. The
essay will also be detailing the working alliance, the relevant skills, models, and theoretical principles.
The essay will be supported with references of the books that I used to develop the discussion.
I will be concentrating more on the skills that I use on the video. I will discuss how important they are
in counselling relationship. I will also define some other skills I used in the video accordingly.
Main body
The beginning stage I felt the nerve kicked in as I sat down and as soon as I realised the video had
started rolling but I managed to calm down and was able to compose myself.
In the beginning of a session, my main concern as the counsellor was to build and establish a working
relationship with my client (working alliance). As the counsellor I needed to develop the kind of
relationship in which my client is encouraged to work. I tried to negotiate a contract with the client. I
believe that in doing so, I should be able to clarify and define my client s problem and assess whether
or not counselling is likely to help specific needs and also whether or not I am will be able to work
with the client to help her achieve what she want. In other words, as the counsellor my main aim was
the intended outcome and what both my client and I want to achieve. (Sue Culley, Integrative

Physiological Responses to the Human Body from Exercising...
The objective of the paper is to present the physiological responses to the human body from exercising
in the heat. It will also include acute and chronic adaptations that the body will adjust to, as well as
practices that would be best fit for athletes and coaches. Exercising in the heat plays a major role in
the field of many athletic sports to date; this includes running sports, such as Track and Field,
Football, and even marathoners long distance road racers. The main stimulus that produces an increase
in core temperature is exercise, and when it is combined with a hot environment, it adds additional
strains to the body. Exercising in the heat has positive effects as well as negative effects that could
lead to health risk if procedures are not properly followed. If an athlete or an untrained personnel does
not take precaution while in heat the risk of health could increase. When exercising in the heat initially
begins, a person may experience changes in the body such as, but not limited, to an increase in his or
her heart rate, an increase in his or her sweat rate, increase in body temperature, and dehydration.
These factors are increasing because during exercise especially in the heat the body has to rid itself of
the excessive heat being produced by the working muscles as well as from the environment. Once
sweat is produced it will cool the body and will evaporate (if in a non humid environment). Sweating
is a very important factor in releasing heat, without

The Garden of Eden
The Garden of Eden is a sacred place to many people. This is a place that may or not actually exist,
and if it is a real place it has not been confirmed. If the Garden of Eden was ever located it would be a
place worth visiting.
The Origins The origins of the Garden of Eden come from the book of Genesis in the Old Testament
of the Bible. The word Eden means delight in Hebrew probably derives from the Akkadian word
edinu. Edinu is believed to derive from the Sumerian term E.DIN which means plain or steppe. The
connection may be coincidental, although E.DIN is known to have been used by the Sumerians to
refer to Mesopotamia as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paradise in Persian means royal garden or hunting park. And the Garden of Righteousness appears in
Jewish mythology and is said to have be beautiful and glorious in the beginning and it will be
beautiful and glorious in the end.
The Comparison
Creation myths across cultures have several obvious similarities and differences. There is substantial
importance in the larger ideas, such as gender, the role of the human beings, and the outcome of the
creation. I find it fascinating that many of the mythical stories from around the world have told a story
where a God floods the earth. I think the flood stories in each myth may be a link between them.
Creation myths concern our ancestors and gods of nature; the earth, the sky, the sun, the moon, and the
stars. They are supernatural explanations of human origin and they help explain what humans could
not explain to answers question about the creation of the earth and man that could be passed on for
generations. Our culture and history would not be the same without the mythical place that surround
the stories of our creation.
Conclusion
The stories of mythology in each different culture have a sacred meaning to the people of that culture.
Just as the stories have meanings so do the places the story surrounds. There are different types of
sacred destinations, some may be similar some could be completely different from one another.
Regardless of their differences they are joined by the elements

British Pound of Sterlings
The birth of the currency
The pound is 1200 years old, born about 775AD, when sterlings or silver coins were the main
currency in Anglo Saxon kingdoms.
If you had 240 of them, you had one pound in weight a vast fortune in the 8th century.
A century and a half later Athelstan, the first King of England, founded a series of mints and made
sterling a national currency in 928.
In 1124, a disgusted Henry I had 94 mint workers castrated for producing bad coins.
Sterling retained importance through the middle ages. Before the foundation of the Bank of England,
the Tower of London was the store for spare money. Silver penny were the only coins right through
until the 13th century and silver was the currency standard till the 18th ... Show more content on

After the war, rumours swirled that sterling was to devalue, and so many countries converted their
pounds to dollars.
The pound was devalued by 30 per cent in 1949. The enormous postwar balance of payments deficit
was just too much for the UK. Sterling s weakness and decline became too obvious. National banks
wanted dollars not pounds.
Not a penny less: the 1967 Devaluation
In 1967 the currency wasdevalued again, this time by 14 per cent.
Overseas, the sterling currency was of lesser importance. Dollars were more alluring and as many
thought stable. But in 1971 President Nixon devalued the dollar a response to damage done by the
Vietnam War and opened the gates to a new era of floating exchange. The stability of the postwar
settlement was over.
The currency snake
Meanwhile 1972 saw the first efforts to fix the pound to other European currencies.
At the start of the year the four major European Economic Community currencies sterling, the
deutschemark, the French franc and the Italian lira formed the so called snake . The economic bloc
then floated their currencies together on the markets, each country having responsibility for the
stability of its currency within parameters.
The experiment failed, though, not long off the ground. Sterling dropped out after only six weeks,
weaker than ever, bowing to the dictates of the markets.

Since 1992 the pound has floated free although the Government has

A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O Connor
Flannery O Connor s Southern Gothic short story, A Good Man is Hard to Find, is one of sudden
violence; although, it begins rather uneventful (Kaplan 1). Bailey, his wife, and their children, John
Wesley, June Star, and a baby boy, are all looking forward to a trip to Florida. Grandmother, Bailey s
mom, wants to go to east Tennessee to see her relatives, not Florida. She uses an article in the
newspaper that tells of an escaped criminal, the Misfit, which is headed to Florida to try to persuade
her son into not going there. Her attempt at persuading her son fails, and so the adventure begins.
While the grandmother and the Misfit are the central figures of Flannery O Connor s short story A
Good Man is Hard to Find, Bailey, John Wesley, and June Star prove to be instrumental characters
because they are used to show a change in the mood of the story.
O Connor shows the reader through her writings that Bailey plays the role of a father, husband, and
son, and he tries to succeed at all of them. He is a man that is portrayed to be strong, protective, and
intelligent by the author (Nester 126). Another side of Bailey that rarely comes out but is important to
the story is his temper. After the family has a car accident, the grandmother mentions that she is afraid
of Bailey, and what he might do to her since she ultimately was responsible for the car accident. This
gives the reader a hint of violence in the story. The reader also sees his unstable and rather intolerant

The Imagery Of Macbeth By William Shakespeare
The imagery of Macbeth institutes a dark, evil aura that surrounds nearly every aspect of the play.
Images of evil beings, murder, as well as the natural and supernatural help to set this sinister mood
throughout the play. The three witches are a dominant source of evil in Macbeth. They are the first
characters introduced, emphasizing their significance in the play as well as their aura of darkness.
Their first meeting takes place in thunder and lightening, a dark, chaotic, and dangerous environment,
which sets the tone and atmosphere for the rest of the play . They also use a multitude of paradoxical
and contradictory statements, indicating a sense of deception (1.1.2 10). They say that the battle,
referring to the battle between Scotland, led by Banquo and Macbeth, and the armies of Ireland and
Norway, will be ere the set of sun, (1.1.5). The witches mean that this battle will be finished by the
time the sun has set, leaving any following events to occur in darkness. In their second meeting, their
evil and power is accentuated when they describe their actions; killing swine and wrecking the ships
of sailors (1.3. 2 30). This foreshadow s the dark consequences of their meeting with Macbeth.
Furthermore, the witches act as Macbeth s stimulus into a descent into evil. The witches take
advantage of Macbeth s covert desire for power, and influence him to fulfill his own prophecy, to
quench their own desire for a world of chaos. The line, All hail Macbeth that shalt be King

Robert Gould Shaw Biography
Robert Gould Shaw was born in Boston, Massachusetts. His family lived off the inheritance of his
merchant grandfather. He was born into a prominent abolitionists family. Abolitionists are people who
wanted slavery to end. His parents were Francis George Shaw and Sarah Blake Sturgis Shaw, and he
had four sisters: Anna, Josephine, Susannah and Ellen. He was a Unitarian. A Unitarian is a person,
especially a Christian, who asserts the unity of God and rejects the doctrine of the Trinity. Robert
Gould Shaw moved with his family to a large estate in West Roxbury, adjacent to Brook Farm when
he was five. In his teens, Shaw spent some years studying and traveling to Switzerland, Italy, Hanover,
Norway and Sweden. After a while, his family moved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the Shenandoah Valley Campaign, the 2nd Infantry was ordered to cover the retreat from
Strasburg, Virginia in the battle at Front Royal on May 23, 1862. In this engagement Shaw received a
minor wound and was recognized by his men for exhibiting courage and a cool composure during the
fight. But the 2nd Infantry would not experience their real baptism of fire until the Northern Virginia
Campaign at the Cedar Mountain wheatfield, August 9, 1862. The regiment suffered terrible losses
and would be tested again on September 17 at the Battle of Antietam, considered the bloodiest single
day in the war. Shaw, now a captain in the unit, received a minor wound but felt the excitement of the
battle as never before. However, after experiencing the horrors of this event, he wished more than ever
that the war would end. Shaw was offered a deal to take command of a new All Black Regiment. At
first, he declined the offer, but after further thought he accepted the

New Orleans Culture
New Orleans is known for being a culturally rich city; from its food to its music to its celebrations it is
full of spirit and unique traditions. It is not hard to pick up on this, it is what you hear across the
country when someone mentions New Orleans, it is what the New Orleans tourism board features in
all its material, it part of how institutions such as Tulane market themselves. Everyone may know
about jazz music and second lines but many of us visitors to the city lack knowledge about their
historical, political, and social/cultural context. A crucial element of New Orleans culture and history
that provides a lot of this context, that every visitor should take the time educate themselves about, is
social aid and pleasure clubs and benevolent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Social Aid and Pleasure clubs played a key role in the community organizing a counterpart to Mardi
Gras. Groups with their own long and distinct histories such as the Black Indians, now called Mardi
Gras Indians, skull and bone gangs, baby dolls, and brass bands would all parade for the African
American version of Mardi Gras. This practice spanned the turn of the century through the birth of the
civil rights era in the 1950 s. Even though Mardi Gras is no longer segregated, these practices remain
an integral part of Mardi Gras in African American communities in New Orleans because they have
been cemented as crucial aspects of community pride and cultural identity ( ). These Mardi Gras
practices, the second line parades that occur year round, social aid and pleasure clubs, and of course
jazz music are still an extremely significant part of many black communities in New Orleans today but
there are numerous societal pressures being exercised on these communities that are putting their

Teenage Delinquency
The way parents rear their children to be well law obeying individuals can be affected if the parents
are not using their authority figure in the correct manner. The way people parent their children can
have a correlating effect on that child having criminal tendencies. When a parent is not emotional or
physically present a child might turn to delinquency because he/she has no authority figure that has
shown them to be responsible. Bad parenting can be defined in multiple ways whether it be by
neglecting the child, physically abusing them, and by not disciplining the child appropriately etc.
These bad parenting tactics can be the cause of the youth delinquency.
The problem being targeting is whether the way parents raise their child has an impact on the child
being a delinquent. An individual s parents are the first type of authority figures a child has and if the
parents are not demonstrating respectable parenting skills or requiring appropriate behavior from the
child, the child has the possibility of rearing to delinquency. This problem is significant because
negative parenting skills increase the risk of setting a child off on a delinquent path that starts in their
early years and can continue far into adulthood. This problem is also important because if bad
parenting is leading the youth to crime one can target the problem to prevent delinquency. It is thus
important for the parents to evaluate their parenting skills and find resources to better their education

Julius Caesar s Weaknesses
All humans struggle with a constant contradiction with their personality traits. Every person has vast
areas of strengths and weaknesses. Shakespeare explores this in his play, The Tragedy of Julius Caesar
by displaying various strengths and weaknesses in the characters. One character though is presented as
a god like figure to the Roman people. Julius Caesar is seen as an almighty general, who defeated the
great Pompey. For this, the Roman people rejoice in him. Although Caesar seems to be almost godlike
in his actions and demeanor, Julius Caesar s personality traits hinder him in his goals. Ultimately his
strengths, his love for the poor and his great military skills, are undermined by his weaknesses. Caesar
has three vital flaws that lead ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

proceeds to the Senate. This ignorance shows incredible weakness, because Caesar refuses to
acknowledge that he could ever be in danger. If he were to read Artemidorus s letter, or listened to

Argumentative Essay On Interracial Relationships
Back then there were slave masters and slaves. These were the horrible ages of the past. Then later
came segregation and the civil rights movement. Still, racial tension increased. Consequently, after
different generations of both black and white people, they were all born with a burden into this world.
These generations were eventually born into a society with the burdens of their ancestors. The fight
against oppression and racism. Recently in the United States, there are many that believe we can all
come together and live happily. These people usually pursue interracial relationships. Regardless of
our history, we should be able to marry or date outside of our race. Does it pose a threat to either side?
No, it does not. People need to think of it as gaining knowledge about other people. It s an exchange
of true love and an exchange of culture that satisfies the relationship.
Interracial relationships have always been controversial. Whether it is about families disapproving of
the other individual or because of the different backgrounds that contain large amounts of racial
tension. In modern US society, interracial relationships are viewed as very disputable. There are two
different sides, which are those who accept it and others that completely oppose it. However,
interracial relationships should be more accepted today because there is a lot more to gain.
Have you ever seen an interracial couple while you were just strolling down the street? Or seen a
mixed looking child? That proves that interracial marriages are becoming more abundant and
universal every day. In 2015, there were 11 million couples that consisted of many other races
including black, Asian and white (Kristen Bialik Key facts about race and marriage, 50 years after
Loving v. Virginia ).
In 1967, it was finally legal for any couple consisting of two different races to get married (by the U.S.
Supreme court). This law showed Americans that it s totally okay to be from two completely different
races and live happily together. Additionally, in the 1990 s, it helped deteriorate the seperation of
blacks and whites. In 1963 they obtained help from the American Civil Liberties Union, which
unsuccessfully sought to reverse their convictions in

Topic Description Iran s Nuclear Program The Islamic Republic of Iran s conquest for nuclear energy technology commenced during the 1950 s, inspired by U.S President Dwight Eisenhower s program called Atoms for Peace . This program fabricated a plan in which the U.S Atomic Energy Commission would lend Iran as much as 13.2 pounds of low enriched uranium in order to further develop their nuclear industries, including health care and medicine.i Two years following the agreement, Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi established the Tehran Nuclear Research Center at the Tehran University, and the United States to arranged to supply a five megawatt reactor. This sparked international controversy over the intentions behind Iran s nuclear program beyond civilian or peaceful purposes. For example, the Isfahan Nuclear Technology Center is suspected to house Iran s nuclear weapons programs, and is also the alleged location of Iran s uranium conversion efforts.iv It is estimated that as many as 366 tons of uranium hexafluoride has been produced since 2004. Still, Iran continuously denies that its nuclear objectives are to construct atomic weapons, but a large majority of the international community remains skeptical to the legitimacy of this claim due to the secrecy of Iran s productions and their refusal to cooperate with the IAEA on several notable occasions. However, in defense over the concerns pertaining to the secrecy of Iran s program, Iran s former ambassador to the United Nations, Mohammed Javad Zarif, claims Western tension and dwindling support for Iran s early nuclear energy programs forced Tehran with no choice but to continue their nuclear activities in a discreet matter. Why or why not? Linux, or what is here and there known as Unix on a lesser scale is considered and institutionalized on the premise of an open source framework and free for conveyance (Eckert, 2016). • 10. The Human Immune System Of Multiple Structures The human immune system consists of multiple structures. These structures include the following: tonsils and adenoids, thymus, lymph nodes, spleen, appendix, lymphatic vessels, and bone marrow. HIV involves many structures/components of the immune system, so it is important to understand the structures and function of each involved component. Calles, Evans, and Terlonge (2010) clearly explain the parts of the immune system affected by HIV. To begin the immune system uses antigens to help fight against infection by working with antibodies to produce an immune response (Calles, Evans, Terlonge, 2010). Furthermore, the immune system produces lymphocytes (i.e. also known as white blood cells). There are two types of lymphocytes produced, B cells and T cells. B cells remain in bone marrow (i.e. where B and T cells are made) and T cells move to the thymus (Calles, Evans, Terlonge, 2010). After their migration, T cells finish cell development, become immunocompetent, replicate, and differentiate. There are two important functions of T cells, which include maintenance of the immune system and destroying cells with certain antigens. There are distinct T cells which are identified by surface markers (Calles, Evans, Terlonge, 2010). Concerning HIV, CD4+ are impacted the most. These cells are responsible for triggering B cells and macrophages when an antigen is present (Calles, Evans, Terlonge, 2010). Furthermore, T cells discharge cytokines, which are involved in ... Continental s internal forecasts indicated that a further decline in passenger volume should be anticipated throughout 2009, with a recovery in travel possibly occurring by the middle of 2010. To summarize, adverse economic conditions in the U.S., coupled with the rise in fuel costs, were dragging down Continental s profits and relief was unlikely through the foreseeable future. THE DECISION TO REDUCE FLYING CAPACITY AND THE IMPACT ON OPERATING COSTS Given the situation described above, management needed to act swiftly to restore profitability. Several strategic options were evaluated. Since the U.S. and much of the world was facing a severe recession, the prospect for growing revenues by either raising airfares or passenger volume seemed futile. Contrary to raising revenue, Continental s managers believed that raising fares could potentially erode future revenues beyond the present level. Discounting fares did not seem a plausible solution either, because given the severity of the economic situation a fare cut could fall short in stimulating additional passenger demand and lead to lowering revenues. Thus, because management anticipated that revenues would remain flat for most of the year, the only viable short term solution to restoring profits was a substantial and swift reduction in operating costs. This could most effectively be accomplished in two ways. First, through a reduction in flying ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although not universally endorsed, the trans theoretical model holds that at any given time, a person is at a particular stage in relation to behavior change (Harvard Mental Health Letter, July 2008). The five Stages of Change are identified as: precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action and maintenance. A client in the precontemplation stage doesn t believe that her or his current behavior is a significant problem and doesn t intend to change the behavior anytime in the near future. In the contemplation stage, a client begins to see that the behavior is a problem and considers making a change but is ambivalent about doing so because she or he also sees reason to keep things as they are. A client in the preparation stage has decided to make a behavioral change and has a specific plan for doing so in the near future. In the action stage, a client carries out a behavioral change plan and begins making the desired change. Finally, in the maintenance stage, a client has made the behavioral change and works to avoid relapsing into the original behavior. Throughout all stages, motivational ... • 23. Ice-Fili Swot Analysis Introduction Ice Fili is currently competing in Russia s ice cream industry. Although they have expanded to other products such as margarine and mayonnaise they will continue to focus on their core product line, which is ice cream. The reasoning behind this is that their ice cream production constitutes the majority of their profits and it is what Ice Fili is most skilled at. The short term and long term corporate goals of Ice Fili are relatively similar in that they both are concerned with dealing with their competitors. Ice Fili s short term goals are: To remain competitive within the ice cream market and to maintain their status as market share leader. The long term goals are: To gain market share over competitors such as Nestle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gaining a greater market share would allow Ice Fili the opportunity to integrate forward and sell their products directly to customers. They could maybe even compete with Baskin Robbins and Ben and Jerry s in the franchised restaurant business. Franchising is relatively cheap for the franchisor and is a definite possibility for Ice Fili in the future. Plan B With increasing competition from domestic and foreign competitors more drastic plans may have to be put into play. The ice cream industry as a whole has total sales of half a billion dollars a year. Ice Fili, the dominant player in the industry, has only $25 million of it, which translates to a total of 5% market share, which is shrinking. The reason why the dominant player commands such a small percentage of the market is because there are over 300 companies of varying sizes competing for their share. To survive in such an environment a company needs more than one distinctive competency. In the case of Ice Fili, they do have excellent production capabilities, but they lack proper research and development, they have little activity in marketing and little more in sales, a distribution system that is inefficient, and a lack of an experienced management team to employ these capabilities. Therefore, combining their distinctive competency of production with the distinctive competencies of another company may be the logical and mutually beneficial option. There are ... Legal Issues Surrounding Emergency Service Agencies Introduction The Emergency Services organizations in the United States are complex and challenging group s that are a required necessity of all communities, based on law. The fire service part of the emergency services have been around over two hundred years and has been the backbone of many emergency service agencies on how the culture is built and how everyday actions are completed within the emergency services, there has been cultural ambivalence within the Emergency Service on how to deal with employees, with the current laws and regulations. Many of the employment issues within the emergency services have been due to the increase in members of the emergency services pushing back on the old cultural practices of the agencies or governments who govern the emergency service agencies. It is evident that in some incidents that the politics and old traditional cultures have made issues of diversity, leadership issues and equal rights issues. There is growing professional literary evidence that acknowledges the legal issues surrounding emergency service agencies (Rielage, 2008). Each and every level of government should have regulatory compliance rules and general employment rules that all members of the organization must follow. • 27. The Virgins By Robert Herrick And His Coy Mistress By... To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time by Robert Herrick and To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell, are two different, yet similar poems. While both are presented in Carpe Diem form, each poem approaches seizing the day in alternative ways. Herrick s poem is a caution to young, virgin women that they should make the most of the moment, to find love now and not wait. Marvell s poem is directly addressing a specific person, and slowly seducing them. Eventually declaring that they should act immediately on their urges. These two poems have similar themes, but the one constant throughout, is time. The speakers use imagery and metaphors to convey the effects of time and the transient prime of youth. Herrick s poem is crafted in four stanzas using a rhyming scheme of ABAB, and is written in four quatrains. Beginning in his first stanza, the speaker mentions of assembling young women and telling them to grab life and live now. Herrick writes, Gather ye rosebuds while ye may / Old time is still a flying / And this same flower that smiles today / Tomorrow will be dying (lines 1 4). The speaker uses the images of rosebuds to symbolize youth and beauty. Once the flower peaks and blooms, its beauty will fade. So, too, will the beauty of women as they grow older. Furthermore, in the second stanza, the speaker sets the tone of the poem by writing, The glorious lamp of heaven, the sun / The high he s a getting / The sooner will his race be run / And nearer he s to setting (5 8). Human rights are shared universally but what happens when these human rights are violated? When is the right time to intervene when someone is being harassed in the street? Humanitarian intervention should occur then the targeted group s violation is violated to an extent where they can no longer defend themselves. Humanitarian intervention may be seen as inefficient and ineffective due to the time it takes to occur, and the bias that comes from the intervention, however humanitarian intervention is necessary to monitor on a state s treatment towards it s citizens and it saves the lives of the people in a state. Although humanitarian intervention faces a lot of criticism, it is important to note that what may happen with or without intervention when a country faces problems. The positive effects of humanitarian intervention would be that a new understanding of sovereignty would exits (Krylov, 1995). What can be taken from this is that sovereignty is not absolute. In Allen Buchanan s article, humanitarian intervention is often defined as an infraction of the sovereignty of the state because of other states trying to protect human rights (Buchanan, 1999). The enormous postwar balance of payments deficit was just too much for the UK. Sterling s weakness and decline became too obvious. National banks wanted dollars not pounds. Not a penny less: the 1967 Devaluation In 1967 the currency wasdevalued again, this time by 14 per cent. Overseas, the sterling currency was of lesser importance. Dollars were more alluring and as many thought stable. But in 1971 President Nixon devalued the dollar a response to damage done by the Vietnam War and opened the gates to a new era of floating exchange. The stability of the postwar settlement was over. The currency snake Meanwhile 1972 saw the first efforts to fix the pound to other European currencies. At the start of the year the four major European Economic Community currencies sterling, the deutschemark, the French franc and the Italian lira formed the so called snake . The economic bloc then floated their currencies together on the markets, each country having responsibility for the stability of its currency within parameters. The experiment failed, though, not long off the ground. Sterling dropped out after only six weeks, weaker than ever, bowing to the dictates of the markets. • 43. A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O Connor Flannery O Connor s Southern Gothic short story, A Good Man is Hard to Find, is one of sudden violence; although, it begins rather uneventful (Kaplan 1). Bailey, his wife, and their children, John Wesley, June Star, and a baby boy, are all looking forward to a trip to Florida. Grandmother, Bailey s mom, wants to go to east Tennessee to see her relatives, not Florida. She uses an article in the newspaper that tells of an escaped criminal, the Misfit, which is headed to Florida to try to persuade her son into not going there. Her attempt at persuading her son fails, and so the adventure begins. While the grandmother and the Misfit are the central figures of Flannery O Connor s short story A Good Man is Hard to Find, Bailey, John Wesley, and June Star prove to be instrumental characters because they are used to show a change in the mood of the story. O Connor shows the reader through her writings that Bailey plays the role of a father, husband, and son, and he tries to succeed at all of them. He is a man that is portrayed to be strong, protective, and intelligent by the author (Nester 126). Another side of Bailey that rarely comes out but is important to the story is his temper. After the family has a car accident, the grandmother mentions that she is afraid of Bailey, and what he might do to her since she ultimately was responsible for the car accident. This gives the reader a hint of violence in the story. The reader also sees his unstable and rather intolerant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Imagery Of Macbeth By William Shakespeare The imagery of Macbeth institutes a dark, evil aura that surrounds nearly every aspect of the play. Images of evil beings, murder, as well as the natural and supernatural help to set this sinister mood throughout the play. The three witches are a dominant source of evil in Macbeth. They are the first characters introduced, emphasizing their significance in the play as well as their aura of darkness. Their first meeting takes place in thunder and lightening, a dark, chaotic, and dangerous environment, which sets the tone and atmosphere for the rest of the play . They also use a multitude of paradoxical and contradictory statements, indicating a sense of deception (1.1.2 10). They say that the battle, referring to the battle between Scotland, led by Banquo and Macbeth, and the armies of Ireland and Norway, will be ere the set of sun, (1.1.5). The witches mean that this battle will be finished by the time the sun has set, leaving any following events to occur in darkness. In their second meeting, their evil and power is accentuated when they describe their actions; killing swine and wrecking the ships of sailors (1.3. 2 30). This foreshadow s the dark consequences of their meeting with Macbeth. Furthermore, the witches act as Macbeth s stimulus into a descent into evil. The witches take advantage of Macbeth s covert desire for power, and influence him to fulfill his own prophecy, to quench their own desire for a world of chaos. • 47. Teenage Delinquency The way parents rear their children to be well law obeying individuals can be affected if the parents are not using their authority figure in the correct manner. The way people parent their children can have a correlating effect on that child having criminal tendencies. When a parent is not emotional or physically present a child might turn to delinquency because he/she has no authority figure that has shown them to be responsible. Bad parenting can be defined in multiple ways whether it be by neglecting the child, physically abusing them, and by not disciplining the child appropriately etc. These bad parenting tactics can be the cause of the youth delinquency. The problem being targeting is whether the way parents raise their child has an impact on the child being a delinquent. An individual s parents are the first type of authority figures a child has and if the parents are not demonstrating respectable parenting skills or requiring appropriate behavior from the child, the child has the possibility of rearing to delinquency. This problem is significant because negative parenting skills increase the risk of setting a child off on a delinquent path that starts in their early years and can continue far into adulthood. This problem is also important because if bad parenting is leading the youth to crime one can target the problem to prevent delinquency. It is thus important for the parents to evaluate their parenting skills and find resources to better their education and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
