Hindenburg Disaster Changed The World Of Air Travel In The...
The Hindenburg disaster of 1937 changed the world of air travel in the 30 s. From a world with
airships commonly and widely used to them almost non existent. Airship travel was a fast and
luxurious way to travel in the 30 s. Thousands of successful trips were made on airships without
injury on a weekly basis. Commercial zeppelins had been around for about 30 years before this
event. Back in the day the Hindenburg was the fasted way to travel across the Atlantic ocean. The
Hindenburg consisted of a dining room, lounge, comfortable cabins, and a smoking room. 7 million
cubic feet of nitrogen gas held the Hindenburg up but ironically and unfortunately it would also
bring the large zeppelin down in a fireball mess. The reason the airship

What Caused The Trojan War
Imagine you or your wife just gave birth to your new born baby. It was the happiest day of your
life. But then someone came and told you, that you were being forced to go to the war. You didn t
know if you were ever going to return alive. But you couldn t just let your kingdom down. So you
decide to leave, and put everything on the line. The Trojan Warhappened 1250 B.C.E. The war was
between two different kingdoms Troy and the greek people in greek mythology. The war began
when Menelaus demanded the return of his wife, and the Trojan people refused. Menelaus asked
his brother to lead an army to help free his beloved wife, and defeat Troy. Menelaus gather the best

On the other hand Odysseus and his men had a much harder time getting home. Odysseus faced
many obstacles on his journey home. They lost many men various of times. The only survivor in
the end, turned out to be Odysseus.
Odysseus and his men, first faced the Cyclopes. The men first thought that since they were
visitors, then they should be fed like kings. But when the Cyclopes returned to find that all his
food was gone, he was not that happy. The Cyclopes than ate a couple of the Greeks whole. The
Cyclopes trapped the Greeks inside his cave by putting a bolder that no human could move. But
Odysseus had a plan to save his men. Odysseus stabbed the only eye the Cyclopes had. The men
then were able to save themselves, and return to their ship and set of for Ithaca.
The men then sailed, and landed on the island of Cerci. There the men including Odysseus were
treated like kings. Odysseus then had an affair with Cerci. They stayed their for awhile, but then
Odysseus then demanded that Cerci tell him what to do, to get back home. Cerci told him that he
was go to the underworld. Odysseus then went to the underworld, and there found that his mother
had died. Tiresias told Odysseus the what he had to do, if he ever wanted to see Ithaca

How Does Lee Show Injustice In To Kill A Mockingbird
To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee tells of a story of Jean Louise Finch, who goes by the
name of Scout, living in the southern town of Maycomb county in Alabama. She describes her
life chasing after Arthur Boo Radley and her summers accompanied with Dill and her brother,
Jem. The town peacefulness changes by a crisis because a trial of a black man, Tom Robinson,
against the word of white people but are known as trash , Mr. Ewell and Mayella Ewell. By
including Ms. Dubose s addiction, the Ewells crimes and Mr. Dolphus Raymond s eccentricity, Lee
suggests the complexities of life, demonstrating the idea that bigotry often overshadows empathy,
but goodness usually prevails. By incorporating Ms. Dubose s narrow mindedness and her personal

Mr. Raymond destroys the status quo by sitting with the colored folk and he Always does. He
likes em better n he likes us, I reckon. (214). He hides his ways by drinking out of a sack, giving
a reason why by making them believe Dolphus Raymond s in the clutches of whiskey (268).
Although this seems like a selfish act of hiding his own ways, due to the townspeople injustice of
accepting mixed children, he must either hide his ways or be rejected by the town. The evil of the
town overshadows Mr. Raymond but his goodness overcomes the injustice of racism. He reveals
his secret to Dill and Scout entrusting them with the secret. He lets the children hear Because you
re children and you can understand it (268). He reveals the evil in the townspeople to Scout and
Jem, revealing his actual goodness and morality. He tells them not to Cry about the simple hell
people give other people without even thinking. Cry about the hell white people give colored folks,
without even stopping to think that they re people, too. (269). Although this may seem like just
another teaching of the story, it reveals that Mr. Raymond accepts the truth that bigotry will still
overshadow empathy. This also illustrates that Mr. Raymond still holds goodness and morality even
though injustice and racism still overshadows him. As he speaks to these

The Execution Of Third Of May Francisco Goya
There is a particular painting that portrays the style of Romanticism very effectively. In the
painting The Execution of Third of May by Francisco Goya, we can see a great example of an
artist who utilized the style of the day to create a piece of art that leaves an impression. Francisco
Goya was from Spain, and a large part of the Romantic work that took place there was portrayed
through Goya s work. This particular painting of his, is an example of Romantic Nationalism.
There is a large story behind what is seen in paint. The historical context of this painting involves
Portugal, when Spain and Franceinvaded into Portugal. Spain was defeated, and overrun by
Napoleon. Napoleon made his brother King of Spain, but on May 2 1808 the Spanish

Deadly force is the last one (General, 1985). Deadly force is force which in an obvious statement

person or at a vehicle, building or structure that another person is believed to be constitutes deadly
force (General, 1985). A threat to cause death or serious bodily harm, by withdrawing of a

enforcement itself, dating back to when they first began. It was

The Gospel Of Biblical Worldview
Benchmark Assignment: Gospel Essentials Biblical Worldview is composed of a number of
essential elements. Including God who created the World, the human race that He created, the Son
of God, and His death on the Cross which Christians believe was the debt Christ paid for the
forgiveness of mankind s sinful nature. This poses the question: what are the basic beliefs and
generalizations to a Christian worldview, and is Christianitynothing but ancient tradition and
biblical dogma, or is it more than that. Is there some level of truth to life changing transformations
Christians claim are the direct result of a relationship with an omnipotent being whom they refer to

A human is fundamentally a dialogue between body and spirit (Swidler, 2014:2). Our sin nature
comes from the point when The LORD God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground trees
that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life
and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. (Genesis 2:9, NIV) This tree that God created
will later be used as a tool to enable humanity s initial fall. Now the serpent was craftier than any

Nt1310 Unit 4 Lab Report
Analysis For the first part of the lab, our goal was to calculate the time constant, пЃґ, of an RC
circuit. We made an RC series circuit and connected it to the Rigol wave generator to produce a
square waveform for current. Then, we collected data of the voltage across the capacitor at
different points in time using a myDAQ and the 4BL application. In order to find the time
constant, we linearized the voltage we measured across the capacitor and then performed a linear
regression on the data. The equation for the voltage across the capacitor as a function of time is:
V_c (t)=V_b (1 e^(( t)/RC) ) where V_c (t) is the voltage across the capacitor as a function of time
and V_b is the input voltage. We then linearize the data by manipulating the... Show more content

Looking at the values for resonance frequency we got from both methods, at first glance it appears
that the second method is more accurate. However, in order to better compare the two methods, we
can calculate the percent error from the theoretical value for the resonant frequency. The formula
for percent error is: percent error=| (experimental value accepted value)/(accepted value) | Г— 100
We get that the percent error for method 1 is 19.3% and the percent error for method 2 is 1.2%.
This affirms that the method 2 is the more accurate method to measure the resonant frequency. This
may be due to the fact that method 1 involves using estimations by eye, which allows for human
error and inaccurate estimations. The difference between the experimental and theoretical values
for the resonant frequency could also result from faulty equipment, which may not function as the
manufacturer claims or be worn down by natural decay. Lastly using the theoretical value for the
RLC circuit and Equation 2, we calculate a Q factor of Q=0.19. This low Q factor indicates that
the peak of the curve is not very sharp and there could have been overdamping, which potentially
increases the error in reading the resonant frequency, especially for the reading by

Analysis Of The Book I Am
At the beginning of the novel, I am immediately implanted a general impression of McTeague, a
clumsily single minded giant, who operates his own dental practice and goes about his daily
routine with satisfaction: he would sit at the bay window (1) reading the paper (1) and
[gorging] with steam beer (1) and even play regularly on his concertina. Moving his immense
limbs (2) slowly and ponderously, McTeague looks like a draught horse, immensely strong,
stupid, docile, obedient (3). Worse than that, his mind was as his body, heavy, slow to act,
sluggish (2). But thanks to his barbaric mind, he is not saddened by his terrible appearance;
instead he feels that his life is quite a success with the dental practice guaranteeing him a stable
income, that he could hope for nothing better (3). He is never fed up with his repetitive days,
and the only enjoyment in his tedious life probably is to appreciate the panorama of the urban
street from his bay window, where the world goes past (6). No matter the various shops or people
from all walks of life, from seven o clock in the morning to eleven in the evening, never fail to
interest him. Besides that, the other way that could connect McTeague with the outside world is
Marcus. Unlike his friend, McTeague is introversive and indifferent to the society and
neighborhood, knowing nothing except for his routine. Therefore, he is frequently bewildered by
Marcus while listening to his political tirade with admiration; but he

Bounty Hunter Social Pressure
After watching the video and witnessing some of the actions of the individuals I honestly was not
surprised what so ever. The fact that many of the individuals chose not to question the bounty
hunter stems from the fact that in society if we see someone in the power position we are expected
to not questions them and obey them completely. When the bounty hunter had pressured the
individuals to help him detain the woman in the blue jacket for her crime, they were reassured
that he was an actual bounty hunter by his fake badge. The pressure that bounty hunter had placed
upon the individuals is a clear example of social pressure. According to the textbook, many
individuals tend to experience social pressure when they are part of a group (134)

Malcolm Gladwell s Outliers
Like no other before it, Malcolm Gladwell s Outliers gives insight into a world of success only a
select few are able to view firsthand. Gladwell portrays date of birth, economic status, and
obstacles that are overcome by luck rather than perseverance as the key ingredients for a recipe of
triumph. Time and education seem to be the underlying factors while socio economic status also
plays a sizable role in determining who succeeds and who does not. While I do not consider myself
an outliercurrently, as so many of my peers and schoolmates enjoy what I enjoy, it is very clear
that, given the opportunities afforded to me, it may not be long before I am considered an outlier
and achieve success, both on a monetary and mental level.

From a young age, accomplishment is associated first with monetary gain and then with going to
a good college. While my peers and I are currently fixated on the latter, Outliers has shown us
there is no need to be. With Nobel prize winners coming from anywhere from MIT to Holy Cross
and Stanford to Rollins (Gladwell, 81 82), success is not determined by the higher learning
institution one chooses to go to, although it certainly does not hurt to attend a prestigious one.
As I look to the application process I am deterred by many things that should send me towards
success. Being a Caucasian, upper middle class citizen, I am perhaps the most replaceable
student in the world with thousands just like me, hoping for the same chance I look forward too.
However, I feel it is what I have done in the summers that will set me apart. Karl Alexander
realized that privileged students tend to outlearn underprivileged children over the summer,
something I am beginning to see more clearly. This past summer, I was fortunate enough to be
part of the 6 percent accepted to the Stanford Pre Collegiate Summer Institutes for Business and

majority coming from Asian descent, the only other kid at the camp who may have been Caucasian
came from a Panamanian family. As I noticed this, I realized

Racial Discrimination
In America special arrangement of conditions prompted the subjugation of individuals who seem
to look similar. The idea of race gives reason as to why people are denied rights and opportunities,
especially since the economy was dependent on slavery. Racial injustices have been considered
natural and justified. There s a lot of overlap between groups. There isn t a single gene, trait, or
characteristic that distinguishes all the members of one racefrom all the members of another. Again,
this is because categories are socially constructed, so there are inconsistencies in the way different
groups are defined. If you change criteria, people fall into different groups. The idea that raceisn t
biological goes against one of our most fundamental assumptions: that there are meaningful, natural
divisions between groups of people. Certainly people look different, but as it turns out, appearances
can be deceiving.
You can t draw any conclusions about those groups beyond what you used to sort people in the first
place. Biologically speaking, traits are inherited non concordantly, which means they are inherited
independently, rather than packaged together. If you know one thing about someone, it doesn t
necessarily tell you anything else about them, so it doesn t make sense to talk about group race
characteristics. we must overcome centuries of inequality before we can unmake it pretending that
race doesn t exist or matter is not the same as treating people equally. Without data on

Aura is a meager, agriculture based town. There s not a lot to keep one occupied in Aura, the
adults raise their crops and drink coffee, the teenagers work for a rancher or farmer until the work
day end, they then consequently take boats out to the local dam. The dam, Aura Dam, is the main
attraction of the meager, agriculture filled town. The dam holds some appeal to everyone, whether
it be young children, adolescents, or adults. During the latter part of the day, usually occurring in
the latter part of the week, children love to play on the sand banks while their older siblings are

Analysis Of The Song Africa By Toto Essay
Personally, one of my all time favorite songs is Africa by Toto, which is featured on his self
titled and fourth album Toto: IV. This song is one of my favorites because it brings me a sense
of nostalgia as I used to listen to this song all of the time as a child. Now, despite there being no
actual reason behind liking the song besides its nostalgic effects, I absolutely adore it, and every
time this song comes on, I get super excited and sing along no matter where I am. I could be out
in public, which has happened before, and I will immediately stop when Africa comes on and
begin to sing the song at the top of my lungs because it is just so catchy and it brings me back to
the good old days when things were much simpler. One specific interpretation of the song that I
believe could be taken to heart and represent me is that the song is actually about cleansing (i.e.
the rain) and going back to the origins of life, or in this case Africa, to where life began for this
man so that he could start over and get away from the world for a while. This, I feel, represents
me in that sometimes I wish I could get away from the world and technology for a bit too, and
like I addressed earlier go back to much simpler times, but that s just one perspective of the song
as it has been interpreted in many different ways. Now another song that I love, which has similar
effects to Africa is We Didn t Start the Fire by Billy Joel, which is featured on his album Storm
Front. This song,

Stability In Brave New World
The novel Brave New World by Aldous Huxley under takes the cost of stability, and explores
what is sacrificed for utopia. London is one of the many utopian societies in the Brave New World,
built on the values of Community, Identity, and Stability. In a contradictory fashion the outlier,
Identity, is sacrificed for stability. Society and class structure, are devoid of identity and
community, a stable system built for the superficial pleasures of life and control at the cost of
freedom. This debate of cost vs benefits is the philosophical battle the characters endure in the
Brave New World. Through the revelations and experiences the characters face, stability and cost of
it are not worth the results.

Science provides truth, sometimes uncomfortable truths; science is outlawed because of the
truth seeking ideology, not the science that enables the world controllers build their utopia. We
don t want to change. Every change is a menace to stability. That s another reason why we re so
chary of applying new inventions. Every discovery in pure science is potentially subversive;
even science must sometimes be treated as a possible enemy. Yes, even science. (154). Science
threatens the utopian society; it can provide views and facts that contradict the world state. A
society that outlaws science can never grow and will fail to progress, the reason for stability is
for effective progress but it is no longer possible through the world controllers means and
methods. Religion provides morals and ethics, consolation, and purpose, religion provides an
ideology that suggests something even greater than the society. Religion was a method to deal
with the anxiety of death and purpose, in the brave new world religion was dealt with through

Cannibalism In The Cars Essay
Cannibalism in the Cars is a short story written by American writer Mark Twain in 1868. The
reason I chose to appreciate and write about this literary work is Mark Twain s supreme use of
cunning and witty language portrayed on a contrasting canvas, that will survive, I believe, the test
of time. This essay will primarily focus on two recurring motifs that, I assume, were the basic
building blocks on which this humorous short storywas built.
The first recurring motif in the first half of the story is the aforementioned utilization of contrast.
While Mark Twain is widely considered a realist author, the use of this motif further suggests that
Mark Twain was inspired by elements of romantic literary movement. Contrast in the story is used

When the passengers begin feasting on their fellow companions due to lack of available food, the
narrator is so delighted and satisfied that he could not resist saying a few funny and at the same
time disturbing remarks. This prompts the question as to how our preferences change depending on
the situation. I liked Harris. This is perhaps a better example of ambiguity depending on the context
rather than lexical or structural ambiguity. One of the next victims elected to be devoured was
mister Morgan. The narrator comments on his redeeming qualities, that have little to do with how
the gentleman tasted. There is no correlation between these two qualities and lack of empathy or
regret from side of the narrator displays how cruel the writing is.
Cannibalism in the Cars in many aspects depicts a social eco system of the real world. Built on
political affairs of voting and climbing through ranks of surviving suggests a parallel to the real
political processes where eating a certain man represents climbing the political ladder. The short
story contains a lot of symbols, that may be interpreted in various ways depending on a reader but
it as well emphasizes the merit this literary work brings to the

Xenophobia In Refugea
INTRODUCTION
The definition of refugee has changed according to time and place. A standard form of definition
states those who are forced to flee their homes due to persecution being an individual or as part of
a mass exodus due to political, religious, military or other problems, and also who are unable to
protect them due to the circumstances of their country are known as refugees. Refugee Rights are

When we talk about Refugee, the two terms strike in the mind of a laymani.e.Xenophobia and

Stepped up interaction at the interface between assistance and protection has highlighted the issues
that are currently being examined in this paper.
Many Researchers have shown that severe economic inequalities and the marginalization of persons
from access to basic economic and social conditions give rise to manifestations of racism and
xenophobia. Those perceived to be outsiders or foreigners, often migrants, refugees, asylum seekers,
displaced persons, and non nationals, are main targets.
The first thing which comes to light in evaluating position of refugees in different states are racism
and xenophobia, which ultimately led the conclusion in making possibility of partnership in
protection of Refugee Rights. Both the terms Racism and Xenophobia are distinct in meaning, but
both makes the resettlement and rehabilitation of refugees difficult.

protesters dumped red paint over a police memorial and tagged the back of it f the police during

A profound number of the college students I interviewed felt that Bob Dylan s 1960s The Times
They are a Changin and Tupac Shakur 1992 Keep Ya Head Up a reference to the L.A. riots, spoke
more to their reasoning. They talked about how these two songs relied on human logic to establish
their arguments and convince them of their meaningfulness through their lyrics. Appeals to reason
are derived from logic and adapted in such a way as to appeal to and have an effect on an audience
(Bailey, 2006). The songs, The Times They Are a Changin and Keep Ya head up both explores the
illogical nature of the traditional way of thinking at the time. Throughout the songs, both artist use
verbal opposition and argumentative statements to logically criticize the traditional way of thinking
about race and war. In various stanzas of Tupac song, he draws attention to various injustices and
how blind the nation is when it still comes to race. He says They got money or wars, but can t
feed tha poor, say their ain t no hope for the youth and the truth is. It can t no hope for tha future.
We ain t meant to survive cause it s a setup and even if you re fed up, ya got keep your head up

how we have money for wars but not to feed the poor and how the government and society does in
fact setup some races to fail more than others. The students came to the revelation through the
reasoning given how this still holds true even in today s society, with police brutality and unlawful

Pauline expresses that there is a lot of arguing with her Dad amp; Stepmother. This provides risk
for her as serious conflict between caregivers and children can put them at the risk of the
problem behaviours (Channing Bete Company 2004). The separation of a child s parents can
put him/her at risk especially if there are a lot of changes or that the child does not have a good
relationship with at least one parent (Burt 2002). It has been indicated in a study that girls in
two parent families are less likely to act out risky behaviours than those in single parent families.
(M.D. Resnick et al 1993). Children or adolescents who are well reasonably well adjusted after
divorce nearly always come from an environment where there is a firm, responsive, nurturing,
supportive adult (Henderson 2002). Pauline s recent history is shows this sort of environment has
not been there for her. A factor that protects an adolescent is having an adult in her life she can
trust and with whom she can confide. The presence of an adult Mentor in an adolescents life
helps reduce the participation in risk taking behaviours. (Beier et al 2000). Pauline reports having
a close relationship with her Aunty Sarah who lives down the road with her Nan. She is able to
confide with Aunty Sarah and feels close to her. This is a significant protective factor for Pauline.

Speech For Collapse
Speech for Collapse presentation
Jared Diamond described a lot of reasons why many civilizations such as Maya collapsed. In my
speech I included some facts from Collapse book by Jared Diamond.
A unique tradition was created by a society numbering barely 4,000 people, and sustained at its
peak for a few generations before abruptly disappearing. The U.S. southwestern societies operated
on a much smaller scale than did the Maya cities, with populations of thousands rather than
millions. As a result, Maya cities are far more extensive in area, have more lavish monuments and
art, were products of more steeply stratified societies headed by kings, and possessed writing.
In the Southwestern U.S. we are dealing with a whole series of cultures ... Show more content on

The increasing population and environmental problems caused civil unrest and warfare. One of the
signs of warfare was cannibalism.
Low rainfall could make rainfall fed dryland agriculture and irrigation impossible. A drought that
lasted more then three years would have been fatal, because modern Puebloans can store corn for
only 2 years after which it is too rotten or infested to eat.
During a drought in 1670s, many people starved to death, and some people killed each other.
Between 800 and 1350 the population decreased from 1070 to 400 people. Conclusion:
There were human environmental impacts of several types, especially deforestation and arroyo

Vehicular Ad Hoc Network Lab Report
The principle consists of initialising the minimum (Trmin) and maximum transmission (Trmax)
rate. Based on the IEEE802.11p, all mobiles involved in the Vehicular Ad hoc Network
(VANET) are synchronised and will switch from Service Channel (SCH) to Control Channel
(CCH) every sync period as depicted in Fig.1. A sync period is 100 ms which correspond to a
switching frequency of 10 Hz. Because CAMs/BSMs and DENMs are broadcasted and
exchanged during the CCH time interval, therefore, in the proposed algorithm, Trmax = 10 and
Trmin= 1. If all nodes are synchronized to transmit at specific period of time (CCH interval); if the
channel bandwidth is large enough, then each node will receive a message copy of its neighbours.
This is the main... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In our model, the choice of minimum CBR (CBRMin) is any value smaller than CBRMax while
the average CBR (CBRAv) is comprised between the minimum and the maximum. The
transmission delay (T0) is initialised at one second and the rate or frequency is initialised at 10
Hz. The algorithm begins at full rate when the CBR is less than CBRMin. When the CBR
becomes greater than the CBRMin and less than the CBRMax, the rate is adjusted as a function
of T0, О» and О±. When the CBR becomes greater than CBRMax, the rate is decreased by
increasing T0 until the CBRAv is achieved and T0 is equal to 1 or less. In general, the idea
consists of computing the differential CBR (О», О»1), the transmission delay T0 as well as the
coefficient О± to adjust the broadcasting delay as a function of a preset CBRMax. The IDBSMA
concept is build upon the DBSMA while taking into consideration the preset CBRMax. For
clarification, the flow diagram of the proposed algorithm is depicted in Fig.2. The proposed
IDBSMA algorithm was implemented in Matlab and several simulations performed to assess and
evaluate the effectiveness of the IDBSMA against the DBSMA. Although, the DBSMA
performance was already demonstrated against its peer in [8], some weaknesses in terms of
robustness were observed. Considering the likehood of car accident

The Meatpacking Industry In Upton Sinclair s The Jungle
A muckraker, an investigative journalist that draws attention to problems, is not particularly what I
would call myself. However, many people seem to believe in the idea that I, Upton Sinclair, have
changed the American food industry for the better by exposing the meatpacking industry. The
Jungle, my first successful novel out of many failed ones, used Jurgis Rudkus, an immigrant from
Lithuania who got a job in meatpacking, to uncover the unfortunate truth of the industry. It all
started when my Socialist contacts told me to go for a journaling job in Chicago to write about
meatpacking, out of which I came up with the novel. After being published in 1906 and selling
millions of copies worldwide, The Junglecreated a public scare that would... Show more content on

industry, Jurgis becomes the shoveler of guts and through his time there, he witnessed the
horrendous state at which men were in labor their fingers cut off due to working with knives in

no light or ventilation, and men carrying 100 pound meat and breaking their backs. The company
scammed the laborers by making the assembly line faster to get more work out of the men for the

tuberculosis and coughed blood, onto the floor, and with no area to urinate, many did it in a corner
and did not wash their hands after doing so. With all that being said, the meat was dumped into the

The Ideal Of The Soul In The Phaedo By Plato
Plato has interest many readers with the work of a philosopher by the name of Socrates.
Because of Plato, Socrates lived on generations after his time. A topic of Socrates that I plan to
discuss is the ideal of an immortal soul . Although there are various works and dialogues about
this topic it is found to be best explained in The Phaedo. I plan to unwrap Platos ideal of the soul
and the kinds of reality associated with it. It is fair to say that the mind may wonder when one
dies, but what exactly happens to the beloved soul; the giver of life often thought of as the very
essence of life, does it live on beyond the body, or does it die with it? Does are body control the
soul, or does the soul control the body?

Socrates establishes that are souls had a previous existence. Before they took the shape of
human, they were independent of our bodies and had intelligence. I agree with this argument of
Socrates because the reason that we might posse this certain knowledge about the world is
because we have seen or experienced it prior. That the soul has the same substances or qualities
that are found in the world of forms has a prior conception of these things before entering the
materials of the world. For example such as seeing a rose, if one recognized the rose as beautiful
it is because one soul had had a previous experience of its beauty as it existed in its ideal form.
Thus upon seeing this rose, one has recollect this notion of

Franklin Delano Roosevelt s Four Freedoms
Franklin Delano Roosevelt s Four Freedoms speech, given on January 6, 1941, provided
rationale behind his idea that the United States needed to abandon isolationist policies. This
speech provided the basis for the civil liberties that different groups of people would fight for
during the next seventy years as well as context for America s involvement in foreign affairs
regarding democracy. The Four Freedoms FDR listed were as follows: freedom of speech,
freedom of religion, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. In Alan Brinkley s biography of

Due to these threats, the United States took severe measures to spread democratic ideals to other
countries, however in the attempt to prevent a WWIII, democratic practices often produced
antidemocratic outcomes according to Suri. Some of these antidemocratic strategies included
containment and the Truman Doctrine, which aimed to prevent the spread of communism to
Eastern Europe and Asia. As president, Ronald Reagan promised to cut the budget, reduce taxes,
trim the bureaucracy, revive America, and subdue the Soviets, ultimately leading to the collapse of
the Soviet Union. Although the Civil Rights Movement arose in the sixties, nuclear development
continued and by 1970 there were more than 25,000 nuclear weapons in the world (Borstelmann

of being American. Whether it the fear is domestic or internationally related, American s face fears
ranging from not obtaining their basic civil rights to what seems to be the constant threat of
terrorist attacks. The United States interest in spreading democracy to other nations and aiding in

As a symbol of a winter wonderland, the holidays, individuality, and beauty, snowflakes elicit
feelings of warmth and happiness from within one s soul. However, the usage of this word has
deviated from its usual meaning of a winter phenomenon, and has maneuvered its way into
derogatory social and political slang throughout history. It has been used as a means to call out
those that have disputed the Peculiar Institution, a way to dehumanize African Americans, and now,
a generalization of a hypersensitive Millennial generation. Through this essay, the history of the

divide among Republicans and Democrats across America leading to back and forth bantering
about their political views. In a time of such political tension the term snowflake was revived as a
jab towards their opponents. In February, the hashtag #HowToSpotASnowflake was trending on

Reaction Paper Of El Presidente
El Presidente is a biopic film directed and written by Mark Meily. The film follows the life of the
Philippines first president, General Emilio Aguinaldo. It is based on the book written by Emilio
Aguinaldo, Memoirs of a Revolution. The movie starts in 1901 with Agunaldo s capture by
Kapampangan US forces under Fuston s command. Then, it flashes back to Aguinaldo s younger
years. The flashback shows Aguinaldo collecting tax along with his friend Candido Tirona; the
two meets an old woman who gave them perplexing prophecies. The old woman said that
Aguinaldo will reign in one point in his life and will marry twice. On the other hand, the woman
said that Tirona will have his life end abruptly from a fatal shot. After ten years, Aguinaldo is...

the actor, I believe that ER Estregan failed to effectively portray the character. Aside from the age
discrepancy wherein they could have had a younger actor for the role, his acting was repetitive, and
boring at times. Could it have been that the production was enticed in getting actors with big names

Actuality In Tim OBrien s The Things They Carried
In Tim O Brien s shocking war story, The Things They Carried , the author does a few things that
would be considered odd in the modern world of literature, these include telling the readers
beforehand whether or not the story will have a happy/ tragic ending, and the factuality. His
habit of revealing the result of the story beforehand, is much like the prologue of Shakespeare s
play, Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare states, Is now the two hours traffic of our stage; The which,
if you with patient ears attend, What here shall miss, our toil shall strive to mend (p. 7). This
practice has been executed for centuries, and has the reader focus more on the story details to see

The purpose of this quote within the story, is to remind readers of the emotional journey and
how war can affect people, years after it s all over these men won t be thinking of whether their
friends died on a Wednesday or a Thursday, because it won t matter. Their friend will still be gone.
Personally, I find his random tidbits of what is factual and what is O Brien s imagination to be
annoying and pointless, because the only people who could know the truth would be the people
who lived it. As a reader, it d be wise if he were to just write the stories and let his audience make
up their own minds about what they read; that s what defines a story. He states, War is hell, but
that s not the half of it, because war is also mystery and terror and adventure and courage and
discovery and holiness and pity and despair and longing and love. War is nasty; war is fun. War is
thrilling; war is drudgery. War makes you a man; war makes you dead. (Pg. 76). This excerpt from
the text meant more to me than majority of this novel whether it fits his definition of a true war
story , because it s the most honest depiction I ve read in awhile. When it comes down to it, it isn
t about the factuality or even the small details, a true story is based on the way it made the reader
feel.

rotation, Simon wasn t trained in different sections of a building inspector. This is because of his
lack of qualifications. On the other hand of job enrichment, what made Simon not feeling
motivated is because the fact that the job wasn t the job that he really wanted in the first place and

Analysis of The Titanic, by James Cameron Essay
Within the context of film industry, the film Titanic by James Cameron belongs to epic romance
/ disaster genre. The film, released in 1997, was a global box office hit because the director
provided equal importance to history, fiction and romance. To be specific, one can see that the film
s plot is based upon the history of RMS Titanic. On the other side, the main characters including the
protagonist and the heroine (Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater/Dawson) are fictional
characters. Besides, the element of romance between the main characters (Jack and Rose) is the film
s main attraction. Thesis statement: The critical analysis of the film Titanic proves that the

Within this context, the director made use of flashback technique to unearth the romantic story of
the lovers in the film. To be specific, the plot moves from present condition (say, 1996) to past
(say, 1912) and to present (1996). In the opening scene, the director portrays the effort of Brock
Lovett (say, a treasure hunter) to unearth the secret behind a necklace sunk with RMS Titanicin
1912. Gradually, the director portrays the love affair between Rose and Jack. In the end, Rose
drops the necklace into the Ocean and returns. The film ends with a fictional reunion between
the lovers. B. Acting The film s casting is related to historical and fictional characters. For
instance, some of real travelers in the RMS Titanic are portrayed in the film. This is helpful for
the viewers to identify the historical element of the film. On the other side, the protagonist and the
heroine are fictional characters. For instance, Jack and Rose, (the protagonist and his lady love)
are fictional characters who inculcated the element of romance in the film. One can see that the
director s decision to caste Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack Dawson (say, the protagonist) is one of the
elements behind the commercial success of the film. Besides, DiCaprio s youthful exuberance suits
his character in the film. On the other side, Kate Winslet s character as Rose DeWitt Bukater is apt

Competitive sports in some cases are becoming unhealthy for children. Most children would
rather play on a losing team than sit on the bench of a winning team. Youth sports are a great
idea to get children up and active, as well as improve their social skills. Just like every other thing
in life it is important to practice and work hard to achieve success. However it is unhealthy to
foster the results over the wants or needs or wants of the child. Aside from the mental stress that
young athletes may experience from intense training and physical play long lasting injures is a

The Minoans and Mycenaeans Essay
The Minoans and Mycenaeans were both from the Greek era. They differentiated quite a bit

Bugs Bunny Commercial Analysis
Imagine audiences sitting in the movie theater trying to escape from the looming hardships of
World War II. They sit and watch as the commercials begin to play when one of the most familiar
tunes in animation begins. The commercial presents itself deceptively using the classic Looney
Tunes curtain opening and theme music with the simple title of Bugs Bunny. The only hint at the
true purpose of advertising at this point is the producer listing of the U.S. Treasury Dept.
Defense Savings Staff. The curtains quickly open with an approaching Bugs Bunny miming the
fife with his carrot as The Girl I Left Behind plays in the background. This is all set against a
redrawing of the classic American painting The Spirit of 76. Bugs Bunny then begins to eat the
carrot he s been holding, when he suddenly begins the song Any Bonds Today? . Suddenly, the
purpose of the commercial is finally revealed to the audience, with Bugs song telling people to
buy war bonds. All throughout this he gestures, points and moves with an animated flair for the
audience. He even exits and reenters frame with an Uncle Sam costume, eventually beginning to
act like he s passing out bonds to the audience. Until, with an animated twirl Bugs Bunny appears
with blackface and a different singing voice, a parody of the blackface performance Al Jolson
did in the movie The Jazz Singer. Finally, the picture pulls in close on Bugs face as he wipes
away the paint and once the picture pulls back out the backdrop has changed. It shows a combat
scene full of planes and ships as Elmer Fuddand Porky Pigappear to help close the advertisement
with singing and dancing. As the song ends a simple war bonds ad pulls into frame. It now
presents a Minuteman on the left and texts that reads For Defense Buy United States Savings
Bonds and Stamps. The commercial relies heavily on its ethos and pathos to convince the audience
into buying war bonds, using very little logos.
Furthermore, ethos is used by the commercial with the use of Bugs Bunny as the appeal for the
audience. At this time in American history Bugs Bunny was one the most famous animated
characters often considered fun for the whole family. Also with most fathers gone off to fight in the

Persuasive Speech On Bodybuilding

reality, bodybuilding isn t so much a sport at all, but rather an entire lifestyle and a way of life.
For people who think that bodybuilding is simply about spending an hour or so in the gym a few

watch not only what they eat, but when they eat as well.
They can t simply head out to the club with their friends, or for a meal whenever they like,
especially if they re training for a competition. Even what they drink has a huge effect on their

Taking this into consideration the media industries must release products for their customers to

customers of the news media are advertisers. The meaning of good to media sources is observed as
the number of readers and viewers attention they can draw.
The sources of bias can be from editors, journalists, speakers and corporation groups. When
journalists or any other news source decide to publish a particular story it needs to be taken into
account whether or not they will benefit from the story or will it be a failure to them. A journalist
will attempt to be neutral by taking two points into thought, the first being: fairness to those

The highly important transmission of neurotransmitter at chemical synapses was found to be within
small vesicles (Katz, 1969) that fuse to the presynaptic membrane and then get recycled back into
the neuron. However, the methods of fusion and recycling are still being debated today, particularly
at the locality of small hippocampal neurons which typically contain around 30 functional vesicles

external medium. The results showed firstly that whatever the fate of the vesicle, the quantal

retrieval from their findings; firstly, the fast kiss and run method with a selective fusion pore, a
slow (8 21 s) compensatory mode; and a stranded mode of recycling, in which a vesicle is left on
the cell surface until a nerve impulse triggers its retrieval. We have also observed that, in response
to a nerve impulse, synapses with low release probability primarily use the kiss and run mode,
whereas high release probability terminals predominantly use the compensatory mode of vesicle
retrieval. Further work with the use of synaptophlourin emerged with the combining of pH sensitive

Zen Gardens Essay
Zen Gardens
Zen Buddhism began to show up in Japan during the eighth century. It went through various periods
of popularity and disregard, but constituted one of the most important influences on Japanese
culture. All Buddhist temples include gardens. The first temple gardens evolved from well
groomed landscaping around Shinto shrines. Later, the gates and grounds surrounding Buddhist
temples began to use gardens to beautify the temple, similar to the Heian mansion gardens. Jodo
Buddhism (Pure Land) used temple gardens as a way to symbolize the pure land created by Amida
Buddha to aid suffering souls in pursuit of enlightenment. These Zen gardens were meant to
encompass the nature of the universe. The garden ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fishing on small boats to catch fish in their ponds was one popular activity. Poetry reading and
writing was also essential.
According to Feng shui, all structures have to be laid out carefully along compass lines and in
certain configurations to allow ki (Chinese chi ), the mystic energy of life to flow properly. A
reduced ki flow in a home was thought to cause sickness and disharmony. For example, the builders,
after consulting with a Yin yang diviner, would usually create special arrangements to prevent bad
ki from entering the home from the northwest. In the first Japanese garden design manual, the
Sakuteiki, it is explained how water courses should flow from the northwest to the southeast so
that any bad ki could be cleansed by the protective deity of the east Kamogawa (blue dragon),
then proceed west again passing under a veranda of the house so as to draw away any evil spirits
that might have somehow slipped into the house. Heavy stones were thought to serve as gates or
landing points for spirits and were thus placed very carefully. Other design rules applied as well.
Influenced by esoteric Buddhism, the garden design was expected to include an island in a pond
connected to the mainland by a bridge. This represented the world of enlightenment separated from
the world of man. The bridges were frequently arched and coated with bright red lacquer (another
Chinese influence).

The four groups of crocodilians are alligators, caimans, gharials, and crocodiles.
What are main characteristics of crocodilian habitats?
Watery habitats such as lakes and rivers
Prefer freshwater habitats
American Alligator (Alligator mississippiensis)
Lives in freshwater swamps and marshes, and also in rivers and lakes. They can tolerate a little
bit of salt but prefer fresh water. They can tolerate freezing weather for short periods of time but
are better off in warmer weather. To live better in this weather, the alligatorbuilds burrows to hide
from the weather.

From studying modern crocodilians we can make inferences/draw conclusions about SuperCroc that
can confirm a scientist s hypothesis. For example, both SuperCroc and the gharial have a bulla, and
from the modern day gharial, scientists inferred that the SuperCroc used its bulla for making noises.
g. What can SuperCroc fossils teach us about modern crocodilians?
These fossils can show us more about the family tree of modern crocodilians and how they evolved.

Indian Gharial
Habitat: Gharials live in rivers. They especially like calm areas of deep rivers. They like to gather
on the sandbanks of the rivers to bask and to nest, but mostly they don t go onto dry land because
they can t lift their bodies off of the ground.
Geographical Distribution: Indian Gharials live in India and Nepal. It is possible that they lived
historically in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Pakistan, and Myanmar.
Diet: Adult gharials eat exclusively fish, although young will also eat small insects and frogs. The
gharial s snout is thin so that it can move through the water easily, and their teeth are good for
holding on to the fish even if it is struggling.
Appearance: The gharial has a unique long, thin snout. Males have a bulbous growth on their snouts
that is used during courtship. They have sharp teeth that interlock. Males are about 5 meters long
(about 16 feet). Because of the type of

James Cameron Research Paper
Final Writing Assignment James Cameron James Cameron is one of the most successful American
directors in the world. He has directed blockbuster hits like The Terminator films (the first two
films), Titanic, and Avatar; just to name a few. He has evolved his style and accustomed to
different genres of film, but it is obvious that he is a big science fiction fan. His style of directing
is very unique and it is often packed with controversial ideas and great dramatic music and
effective camera angles. His use of mise en scene gives his films a certain feel that captures his
audience and makes them feel part of the world he is creating. James Camerons unique use of mise
en scene in the films, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Titanic, and Avatar have made those movies
instant classics and universes many people feel touched by. Terminator 2: Judgment Day starts off
with a clear visual message in its opening scenes. The present is shown and it is showing a normal

This is very evident in the film Avatar. Cameron used special effects on most of the movie and
he wanted to get the shots perfect. The templates used for color, lighting and composition in the
film were carefully chosen to fit the mood he was trying to capture. His attention to detail is on
another level in this film. From the book The Futurist, as Cameron re watched different shots he
said , I saw the flowers as much more translucent, with a lot more transmuted light. Color and
lighting is extremely important in this film because it is what set the tone for the viewer. The
long shots of the floating green mountains of Pandora takes the viewer into a unique experience
that gives off a sense of great scale and adventure. It made the audience feel like they were
connected to a different world because of how amazing it felt to look at something so colorful and

Great Depression Essay
Canada is a nation constructed from small stones of determination, and piles of perseverance.
Today, Canada stands tall as a beacon of democracy and a fortress of ideological freedom. From
the small stones of determination, to the status it wears proudly today, much has changed. It is the
history that has shaped Canada into the nation it is; from the victorious moments to the days of
misery and hardship. A prominent decade of true misery and hardship recalled by Canadians is the
Great Depression. The Great Depression of the 1930swas a time of severe poverty, unemployment

The needy families suffered the most. The government offered relief, or welfare, for those who
qualified. An odd form of welfare was an open jail for the homeless. Similar to the relief camps,
the state of jail was horrible. It was described as a very old, thick walled stone building, with two
stories. At the end of the corridor stood the toilet and one wash basin. No beds or bedding was
provided and the floors were black and swarming with bed bugs. One recalls, Men were all
suffering from gastric trouble due to hunger and the hard boiled beans, weak kidneys from the
freezing cold, and frozen feet. In consequence, there was a steady line up all night through at the
toilet two to three hundred men to one toilet... Another form of relief was a soup kitchen. Again,
the conditions were terrible. People suffered from hours of waiting in harsh weather conditions
to be served dry bread, boiled beans, and coffee or tea. In addition, eating the meal was often
done in ankle deep sludge. This was not something to be thankful for, as the cost to feed a single
person was four cents. It was clear the soup kitchens could put in more effort. The Prairies
suffered the most, as their way of life had always been less secure. Moreover, the families
required a car and gas in order to get relief, as they had to travel to the city. In addition, many
Canadian and American farmers had their property taken away for failing to meet

horse on yellow background, usually with the letters S F for Scuderia Ferrari. The horse was
originally the symbol of Count Francesco Baracca, a legendary asso (ace) of the Italian air force
during World War I, who painted it on the side of his planes. Baracca died very young on June
19, 1918, shot down after 34 victorious duels and many team victories; he soon became a
national hero. Baracca had wanted the prancing horse on his planes because his squad, the
Battaglione Aviatori , was enrolled in a Cavalry regiment (air forces were at their first years of
life and had no separate administration), and also because he himself was reputed to be the best
cavaliere of his team. The Scuderia Ferrari logo Coat of Arms of the City of StuttgartIt has been
supposed that the choice of a horse was perhaps partly due to the fact that his noble family was
known for having plenty of horses in their estates at Lugo di Romagna. Another theory suggests
Baracca copied the rampant horse design from a shot down German pilot having the emblem of the
city of Stuttgart on his plane. Interestingly, German sports car

Reactive Supervisors Essay
An entire industry, multiple government organizations and billions of dollars spent to govern,
monitor, and enforce safety. With all this oversight, why does safety fail? Anyone who deals with
safety on a day to day basis would love to have this question answered. Many people have lost hair,
sleep, patience, and time pondering, how did this happen? Most times through the course of
research and investigations, the answer is; safetyfails when people routinely deviate from standard
without repercussion, supervision is inadequate, or when people begin to rush. Latent failure is the
term used to identify an error in the safety system that lays dormant for a period. Latent failures by

By not investing the possibilities that they may face nonstandard events in the future, they set
themselves and those in their charge up for issues. Supervisors who are able to look ahead at
impending issues will be able to react quicker and have better results. Even worse is the
tendency for reactive supervisors to become over reactive supervisors. Over reaction may come
in many forms but all will share one common trend, they will be detrimental to those they affect.
Close minded supervisors and those that blindly enforce the standard are similar in nature but
differ in reason and drive. Close mindedness is a product of refusing to see another s point of view
where as someone blindly enforcing standards may be doing so with all the best intentions but may
not be aware of the benefits of pushing for a change to the standard. Of all the supervisors for a
safety system, the most burdening is one that only identifies issues and shortcomings but never
presents a solution. The impact this style of supervision has on those under it cannot be understated
it is morally exhausting. Workers who constantly have to wade through issue after issue with an
apparent abandonment from the supervisors that never produce a solution will begin to get sloppy,
apathetic, and rush just to be done with

The excitement of watching a beautiful well dressed medical examiner or forensic examiner in

Dunshy V. Court Case Summary
A contract is considered a legally binding agreement. A valid contract is an agreement that is
binding and enforceable. A contract is not enforced if one of the parties involved has a lack of
capacity. When lack of capacity is determiend a contract is voidable. A contract signed by a
minor can be avoided because anyone under the age of 18 is a minor and minors are not legally
capable of signing contracts. Since Alex signed the contract at the age of 16, it is not a binding
contract.
Quasi contracts are required by the court to prevent unjust enhancements when there is a dispute
over payment. Technically the courts could hold the Dunphy s responsible for payment. Quasi
contractual liability would not be imposed if the Dunphy s were on vacation in Hawaii and were

Mission Statement and Acceptable Use Policy at Wuhan Foreign Languages School
This paper evaluates the mission statement at Wuhan Foreign Languages School (WFLS). It also
attempts to examine the technology mission statement, however, WFLS does not have one.
Consequently, this paper suggests one for WFLS. The technology mission statement should also be
interpreted as a guide for integrating technology into the school and classroom. Finally, this paper
evaluates the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) of WFLS, and also offers suggestions for improving it
and further aligning it with the mission statement of the school.

There s a sign near the main entrance of the school that everyone who enters the school can see.
Additionally, it s painted on a wall in the building with all the teachers offices, and on another
wall, which is a fairly common hallway in a classroom building. The mission statement also
appears on the school website. It is visible to everyone, and probably most people are at least
aware of it, but beyond that, it is undetermined how well it is actually communicated to people. If
these were the only ways, it is effortless overlook.
The mission statement does not reflect on anything regarding ethical or legal practices. However,
again based on Chinese culture, these would be assumed or overlooked. In Chinese culture, it
seems that reputation and results are more important than legal and ethical practices, not that
everyone or every business is illegal or corrupt. But regarding education, parents are much more
concerned that their child be given every advantage possible over the millions of other children,
and attending a school that has a reputation of students achieving high exam scores or being given
opportunities to go abroad for college are much more relevant and imperative to them than ethical
or legal practices.

Wuhan Foreign Languages School does not have a mission statement that specifically addresses
their technology. Because of this, the author decided to create a mission statement for them. The

  • 2. Hindenburg Disaster Changed The World Of Air Travel In The... The Hindenburg disaster of 1937 changed the world of air travel in the 30 s. From a world with airships commonly and widely used to them almost non existent. Airship travel was a fast and luxurious way to travel in the 30 s. Thousands of successful trips were made on airships without injury on a weekly basis. Commercial zeppelins had been around for about 30 years before this event. Back in the day the Hindenburg was the fasted way to travel across the Atlantic ocean. The Hindenburg consisted of a dining room, lounge, comfortable cabins, and a smoking room. 7 million cubic feet of nitrogen gas held the Hindenburg up but ironically and unfortunately it would also bring the large zeppelin down in a fireball mess. • 4. How Does Lee Show Injustice In To Kill A Mockingbird To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee tells of a story of Jean Louise Finch, who goes by the name of Scout, living in the southern town of Maycomb county in Alabama. She describes her life chasing after Arthur Boo Radley and her summers accompanied with Dill and her brother, Jem. The town peacefulness changes by a crisis because a trial of a black man, Tom Robinson, against the word of white people but are known as trash , Mr. Ewell and Mayella Ewell. By including Ms. Dubose s addiction, the Ewells crimes and Mr. Dolphus Raymond s eccentricity, Lee suggests the complexities of life, demonstrating the idea that bigotry often overshadows empathy, but goodness usually prevails. By incorporating Ms. Dubose s narrow mindedness and her personal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mr. Raymond destroys the status quo by sitting with the colored folk and he Always does. He likes em better n he likes us, I reckon. (214). He hides his ways by drinking out of a sack, giving a reason why by making them believe Dolphus Raymond s in the clutches of whiskey (268). Although this seems like a selfish act of hiding his own ways, due to the townspeople injustice of accepting mixed children, he must either hide his ways or be rejected by the town. The evil of the town overshadows Mr. Raymond but his goodness overcomes the injustice of racism. He reveals his secret to Dill and Scout entrusting them with the secret. He lets the children hear Because you re children and you can understand it (268). He reveals the evil in the townspeople to Scout and Jem, revealing his actual goodness and morality. He tells them not to Cry about the simple hell people give other people without even thinking. Cry about the hell white people give colored folks, without even stopping to think that they re people, too. (269). Although this may seem like just another teaching of the story, it reveals that Mr. Raymond accepts the truth that bigotry will still overshadow empathy. This also illustrates that Mr. Raymond still holds goodness and morality even though injustice and racism still overshadows him. As he speaks to these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the painting The Execution of Third of May by Francisco Goya, we can see a great example of an artist who utilized the style of the day to create a piece of art that leaves an impression. Francisco Goya was from Spain, and a large part of the Romantic work that took place there was portrayed through Goya s work. This particular painting of his, is an example of Romantic Nationalism. There is a large story behind what is seen in paint. The historical context of this painting involves Portugal, when Spain and Franceinvaded into Portugal. Deadly force is force which in an obvious statement causes death to the suspect, most often with reasonable means in order to protect and serve the community (General, 1985). Examples would be purposely firing a gun in the direction of another person or at a vehicle, building or structure that another person is believed to be constitutes deadly force (General, 1985). Including God who created the World, the human race that He created, the Son of God, and His death on the Cross which Christians believe was the debt Christ paid for the forgiveness of mankind s sinful nature. This poses the question: what are the basic beliefs and generalizations to a Christian worldview, and is Christianitynothing but ancient tradition and biblical dogma, or is it more than that. Is there some level of truth to life changing transformations Christians claim are the direct result of a relationship with an omnipotent being whom they refer to as God? God God is the creator of the Earth, Genesis 1:1 states: In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A human is fundamentally a dialogue between body and spirit (Swidler, 2014:2). In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. (Genesis 2:9, NIV) This tree that God created will later be used as a tool to enable humanity s initial fall. Now the serpent was craftier than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, Did God really say, You must not eat from any tree in the garden ? • 8. Nt1310 Unit 4 Lab Report Analysis For the first part of the lab, our goal was to calculate the time constant, пЃґ, of an RC circuit. We made an RC series circuit and connected it to the Rigol wave generator to produce a square waveform for current. Then, we collected data of the voltage across the capacitor at different points in time using a myDAQ and the 4BL application. In order to find the time constant, we linearized the voltage we measured across the capacitor and then performed a linear regression on the data. The equation for the voltage across the capacitor as a function of time is: V_c (t)=V_b (1 e^(( t)/RC) ) where V_c (t) is the voltage across the capacitor as a function of time and V_b is the input voltage. We then linearize the data by manipulating the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Looking at the values for resonance frequency we got from both methods, at first glance it appears that the second method is more accurate. However, in order to better compare the two methods, we can calculate the percent error from the theoretical value for the resonant frequency. The formula for percent error is: percent error=| (experimental value accepted value)/(accepted value) | Г— 100 We get that the percent error for method 1 is 19.3% and the percent error for method 2 is 1.2%. This affirms that the method 2 is the more accurate method to measure the resonant frequency. This may be due to the fact that method 1 involves using estimations by eye, which allows for human error and inaccurate estimations. The difference between the experimental and theoretical values for the resonant frequency could also result from faulty equipment, which may not function as the manufacturer claims or be worn down by natural decay. Lastly using the theoretical value for the RLC circuit and Equation 2, we calculate a Q factor of Q=0.19. This low Q factor indicates that the peak of the curve is not very sharp and there could have been overdamping, which potentially increases the error in reading the resonant frequency, especially for the reading by ... • 9. Analysis Of The Book I Am At the beginning of the novel, I am immediately implanted a general impression of McTeague, a clumsily single minded giant, who operates his own dental practice and goes about his daily routine with satisfaction: he would sit at the bay window (1) reading the paper (1) and [gorging] with steam beer (1) and even play regularly on his concertina. Moving his immense limbs (2) slowly and ponderously, McTeague looks like a draught horse, immensely strong, stupid, docile, obedient (3). Worse than that, his mind was as his body, heavy, slow to act, sluggish (2). But thanks to his barbaric mind, he is not saddened by his terrible appearance; instead he feels that his life is quite a success with the dental practice guaranteeing him a stable income, that he could hope for nothing better (3). He is never fed up with his repetitive days, and the only enjoyment in his tedious life probably is to appreciate the panorama of the urban street from his bay window, where the world goes past (6). No matter the various shops or people from all walks of life, from seven o clock in the morning to eleven in the evening, never fail to interest him. Besides that, the other way that could connect McTeague with the outside world is Marcus. Unlike his friend, McTeague is introversive and indifferent to the society and neighborhood, knowing nothing except for his routine. Therefore, he is frequently bewildered by Marcus while listening to his political tirade with admiration; but he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Bounty Hunter Social Pressure After watching the video and witnessing some of the actions of the individuals I honestly was not surprised what so ever. The fact that many of the individuals chose not to question the bounty hunter stems from the fact that in society if we see someone in the power position we are expected to not questions them and obey them completely. When the bounty hunter had pressured the individuals to help him detain the woman in the blue jacket for her crime, they were reassured that he was an actual bounty hunter by his fake badge. The pressure that bounty hunter had placed upon the individuals is a clear example of social pressure. According to the textbook, many individuals tend to experience social pressure when they are part of a group (134) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Malcolm Gladwell s Outliers Like no other before it, Malcolm Gladwell s Outliers gives insight into a world of success only a select few are able to view firsthand. Gladwell portrays date of birth, economic status, and obstacles that are overcome by luck rather than perseverance as the key ingredients for a recipe of triumph. Time and education seem to be the underlying factors while socio economic status also plays a sizable role in determining who succeeds and who does not. While I do not consider myself an outliercurrently, as so many of my peers and schoolmates enjoy what I enjoy, it is very clear that, given the opportunities afforded to me, it may not be long before I am considered an outlier and achieve success, both on a monetary and mental level. Joe Flom, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From a young age, accomplishment is associated first with monetary gain and then with going to a good college. While my peers and I are currently fixated on the latter, Outliers has shown us there is no need to be. With Nobel prize winners coming from anywhere from MIT to Holy Cross and Stanford to Rollins (Gladwell, 81 82), success is not determined by the higher learning institution one chooses to go to, although it certainly does not hurt to attend a prestigious one. As I look to the application process I am deterred by many things that should send me towards success. Being a Caucasian, upper middle class citizen, I am perhaps the most replaceable student in the world with thousands just like me, hoping for the same chance I look forward too. However, I feel it is what I have done in the summers that will set me apart. Karl Alexander realized that privileged students tend to outlearn underprivileged children over the summer, something I am beginning to see more clearly. This past summer, I was fortunate enough to be part of the 6 percent accepted to the Stanford Pre Collegiate Summer Institutes for Business and Entrepreneurship. It took only a few days to realize that I was the only true white kid . With the majority coming from Asian descent, the only other kid at the camp who may have been Caucasian came from a Panamanian family. As I noticed this, I realized ... • 12. Racial Discrimination In America special arrangement of conditions prompted the subjugation of individuals who seem to look similar. The idea of race gives reason as to why people are denied rights and opportunities, especially since the economy was dependent on slavery. Racial injustices have been considered natural and justified. There s a lot of overlap between groups. There isn t a single gene, trait, or characteristic that distinguishes all the members of one racefrom all the members of another. Again, this is because categories are socially constructed, so there are inconsistencies in the way different groups are defined. If you change criteria, people fall into different groups. The idea that raceisn t biological goes against one of our most fundamental assumptions: that there are meaningful, natural divisions between groups of people. Certainly people look different, but as it turns out, appearances can be deceiving. You can t draw any conclusions about those groups beyond what you used to sort people in the first place. Biologically speaking, traits are inherited non concordantly, which means they are inherited independently, rather than packaged together. If you know one thing about someone, it doesn t necessarily tell you anything else about them, so it doesn t make sense to talk about group race characteristics. we must overcome centuries of inequality before we can unmake it pretending that race doesn t exist or matter is not the same as treating people equally. There s not a lot to keep one occupied in Aura, the adults raise their crops and drink coffee, the teenagers work for a rancher or farmer until the work day end, they then consequently take boats out to the local dam. The dam, Aura Dam, is the main attraction of the meager, agriculture filled town. The dam holds some appeal to everyone, whether it be young children, adolescents, or adults. • 14. Analysis Of The Song Africa By Toto Essay Personally, one of my all time favorite songs is Africa by Toto, which is featured on his self titled and fourth album Toto: IV. This song is one of my favorites because it brings me a sense of nostalgia as I used to listen to this song all of the time as a child. Now, despite there being no actual reason behind liking the song besides its nostalgic effects, I absolutely adore it, and every time this song comes on, I get super excited and sing along no matter where I am. I could be out in public, which has happened before, and I will immediately stop when Africa comes on and begin to sing the song at the top of my lungs because it is just so catchy and it brings me back to the good old days when things were much simpler. One specific interpretation of the song that I believe could be taken to heart and represent me is that the song is actually about cleansing (i.e. the rain) and going back to the origins of life, or in this case Africa, to where life began for this man so that he could start over and get away from the world for a while. This, I feel, represents me in that sometimes I wish I could get away from the world and technology for a bit too, and like I addressed earlier go back to much simpler times, but that s just one perspective of the song as it has been interpreted in many different ways. Now another song that I love, which has similar effects to Africa is We Didn t Start the Fire by Billy Joel, which is featured on his album Storm Front. This song, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

London is one of the many utopian societies in the Brave New World, built on the values of Community, Identity, and Stability. In a contradictory fashion the outlier, Identity, is sacrificed for stability. Society and class structure, are devoid of identity and community, a stable system built for the superficial pleasures of life and control at the cost of freedom. • 17. Cannibalism In The Cars Essay Cannibalism in the Cars is a short story written by American writer Mark Twain in 1868. The reason I chose to appreciate and write about this literary work is Mark Twain s supreme use of cunning and witty language portrayed on a contrasting canvas, that will survive, I believe, the test of time. This essay will primarily focus on two recurring motifs that, I assume, were the basic building blocks on which this humorous short storywas built. The first recurring motif in the first half of the story is the aforementioned utilization of contrast. While Mark Twain is widely considered a realist author, the use of this motif further suggests that Mark Twain was inspired by elements of romantic literary movement. Contrast in the story is used to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the passengers begin feasting on their fellow companions due to lack of available food, the narrator is so delighted and satisfied that he could not resist saying a few funny and at the same time disturbing remarks. This prompts the question as to how our preferences change depending on the situation. I liked Harris. This is perhaps a better example of ambiguity depending on the context rather than lexical or structural ambiguity. One of the next victims elected to be devoured was mister Morgan. The narrator comments on his redeeming qualities, that have little to do with how the gentleman tasted. There is no correlation between these two qualities and lack of empathy or regret from side of the narrator displays how cruel the writing is. Cannibalism in the Cars in many aspects depicts a social eco system of the real world. Built on political affairs of voting and climbing through ranks of surviving suggests a parallel to the real political processes where eating a certain man represents climbing the political ladder. A profound number of the college students I interviewed felt that Bob Dylan s 1960s The Times They are a Changin and Tupac Shakur 1992 Keep Ya Head Up a reference to the L.A. riots, spoke more to their reasoning. They talked about how these two songs relied on human logic to establish their arguments and convince them of their meaningfulness through their lyrics. Appeals to reason are derived from logic and adapted in such a way as to appeal to and have an effect on an audience (Bailey, 2006). The songs, The Times They Are a Changin and Keep Ya head up both explores the illogical nature of the traditional way of thinking at the time. Throughout the songs, both artist use verbal opposition and argumentative statements to logically criticize the traditional way of thinking about race and war. In various stanzas of Tupac song, he draws attention to various injustices and how blind the nation is when it still comes to race. He says They got money or wars, but can t feed tha poor, say their ain t no hope for the youth and the truth is. It can t no hope for tha future. We ain t meant to survive cause it s a setup and even if you re fed up, ya got keep your head up (Shakur, 1992). It has been indicated in a study that girls in two parent families are less likely to act out risky behaviours than those in single parent families. (M.D. Resnick et al 1993). Children or adolescents who are well reasonably well adjusted after divorce nearly always come from an environment where there is a firm, responsive, nurturing, supportive adult (Henderson 2002). Pauline s recent history is shows this sort of environment has not been there for her. A factor that protects an adolescent is having an adult in her life she can trust and with whom she can confide. A unique tradition was created by a society numbering barely 4,000 people, and sustained at its peak for a few generations before abruptly disappearing. The U.S. southwestern societies operated on a much smaller scale than did the Maya cities, with populations of thousands rather than millions. Based on the IEEE802.11p, all mobiles involved in the Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) are synchronised and will switch from Service Channel (SCH) to Control Channel (CCH) every sync period as depicted in Fig.1. A sync period is 100 ms which correspond to a switching frequency of 10 Hz. Because CAMs/BSMs and DENMs are broadcasted and exchanged during the CCH time interval, therefore, in the proposed algorithm, Trmax = 10 and Trmin= 1. If all nodes are synchronized to transmit at specific period of time (CCH interval); if the channel bandwidth is large enough, then each node will receive a message copy of its neighbours. In our model, the choice of minimum CBR (CBRMin) is any value smaller than CBRMax while the average CBR (CBRAv) is comprised between the minimum and the maximum. The transmission delay (T0) is initialised at one second and the rate or frequency is initialised at 10 Hz. The algorithm begins at full rate when the CBR is less than CBRMin. When the CBR becomes greater than the CBRMin and less than the CBRMax, the rate is adjusted as a function of T0, О» and О±. When the CBR becomes greater than CBRMax, the rate is decreased by increasing T0 until the CBRAv is achieved and T0 is equal to 1 or less. In general, the idea consists of computing the differential CBR (О», О»1), the transmission delay T0 as well as the coefficient О± to adjust the broadcasting delay as a function of a preset CBRMax. • 35. Bugs Bunny Commercial Analysis Imagine audiences sitting in the movie theater trying to escape from the looming hardships of World War II. They sit and watch as the commercials begin to play when one of the most familiar tunes in animation begins. The commercial presents itself deceptively using the classic Looney Tunes curtain opening and theme music with the simple title of Bugs Bunny. The only hint at the true purpose of advertising at this point is the producer listing of the U.S. Treasury Dept. Defense Savings Staff. The curtains quickly open with an approaching Bugs Bunny miming the fife with his carrot as The Girl I Left Behind plays in the background. This is all set against a redrawing of the classic American painting The Spirit of 76. Bugs Bunny then begins to eat the carrot he s been holding, when he suddenly begins the song Any Bonds Today? . Suddenly, the purpose of the commercial is finally revealed to the audience, with Bugs song telling people to buy war bonds. All throughout this he gestures, points and moves with an animated flair for the audience. He even exits and reenters frame with an Uncle Sam costume, eventually beginning to act like he s passing out bonds to the audience. Until, with an animated twirl Bugs Bunny appears with blackface and a different singing voice, a parody of the blackface performance Al Jolson did in the movie The Jazz Singer. Finally, the picture pulls in close on Bugs face as he wipes away the paint and once the picture pulls back out the backdrop has changed. It shows a combat scene full of planes and ships as Elmer Fuddand Porky Pigappear to help close the advertisement with singing and dancing. As the song ends a simple war bonds ad pulls into frame. It now presents a Minuteman on the left and texts that reads For Defense Buy United States Savings Bonds and Stamps. The commercial relies heavily on its ethos and pathos to convince the audience into buying war bonds, using very little logos. Furthermore, ethos is used by the commercial with the use of Bugs Bunny as the appeal for the audience. At this time in American history Bugs Bunny was one the most famous animated characters often considered fun for the whole family. Also with most fathers gone off to fight in the war the ... Kiss And Run Fusion Kiss and Run vs Full Fusion cell cycling at small hippocampal neurons The highly important transmission of neurotransmitter at chemical synapses was found to be within small vesicles (Katz, 1969) that fuse to the presynaptic membrane and then get recycled back into the neuron. However, the methods of fusion and recycling are still being debated today, particularly at the locality of small hippocampal neurons which typically contain around 30 functional vesicles (A. M. In this study they use a pH sensor of exocytosis and endocytosis, a fluorescent protein that reports fusion and retrieval of vesicles synaptophluorin. developed by meisenbock and colleagues. This provides a fluoresces signal when the lumen of the vesicle is exposed to the external medium. The results showed firstly that whatever the fate of the vesicle, the quantal size for retrieval remains unchanged. They suggest that there are three modes of vesicle retrieval from their findings; firstly, the fast kiss and run method with a selective fusion pore, a slow (8 21 s) compensatory mode; and a stranded mode of recycling, in which a vesicle is left on the cell surface until a nerve impulse triggers its retrieval. We have also observed that, in response to a nerve impulse, synapses with low release probability primarily use the kiss and run mode, whereas high release probability terminals predominantly use the compensatory mode of vesicle retrieval. Fishing on small boats to catch fish in their ponds was one popular activity. Poetry reading and writing was also essential. According to Feng shui, all structures have to be laid out carefully along compass lines and in certain configurations to allow ki (Chinese chi ), the mystic energy of life to flow properly. A reduced ki flow in a home was thought to cause sickness and disharmony. For example, the builders, after consulting with a Yin yang diviner, would usually create special arrangements to prevent bad ki from entering the home from the northwest. In the first Japanese garden design manual, the Sakuteiki, it is explained how water courses should flow from the northwest to the southeast so that any bad ki could be cleansed by the protective deity of the east Kamogawa (blue dragon), then proceed west again passing under a veranda of the house so as to draw away any evil spirits that might have somehow slipped into the house. Heavy stones were thought to serve as gates or landing points for spirits and were thus placed very carefully. Other design rules applied as well. Influenced by esoteric Buddhism, the garden design was expected to include an island in a pond connected to the mainland by a bridge.
