Theme Of Nature In The Epic Of Gilgamesh
Nature in the Epic of Gilgamesh appears to be either man s greatest enemy or his ally, depending
on whether he can conquer it at all. Those who cannot conquer nature, fear it greatly. Those who
can conquer nature however, seem to gain immense personal power from doing so. Gilgamesh is
an example of the latter. There is one aspect of nature that both parties fear, and will both
inevitably be conquered by, that aspect is death. Gilgamesh himself is incredibly afraid and leery of
death. After Enkidus death, Gilgamesh mourns for him six days and seven nights then proceeds to
wander the earth. However, before he sets off wandering, he slaughtered fatted cattle and sheep and
heaped them high for his friend . Gilgamesh performed these... Show more content on

Segal goes on to say, Odysseus comes into his own, his powers have full play, only on his return
to the human world. Segal adds, the powers of the supernatural world are overwhelming, and
against them, the epic hero shrinks back to his human size . Replace Odysseus with Gilgamesh
and the similarities are uncanny. Gilgamesh in his own world of fighting monsters and demons,
as well as the common forces of nature is quite at home, a powerful warrior above other men.
When met with the somewhat supernatural force of death, Gilgamesh is reduced, back to his
human size . We see proof of this, by the way he is acting and dressing while wandering.
Gilgamesh is described as being clad in skin and woe was in his vitals . Siduri even points out,
that Gilgamesh s cheeks are emaciated, face cast down, your heart wretched, your features wasted
. As mentioned before, Gilgamesh seems to revert back to Enkidu s pre domesticated appearance.
This ties back to Segal s description of what happens when the hero is is faced with the
overwhelming supernatural world. Gilgamesh has shrunk back to his human size . More than this,
Gilgamesh seems to have gone one step further, to an animalistic size. This relates to another point
Segal makes, this reduction to human size, however, leaves Archaic man free for a more intensely
personal experience of

The Issue Of Concussions And Its Effects
The issue of concussions has been downplayed for years dating back to when the first forms of
professional football came to the U.S. but the past 10 years have been drastically different. We need
to be more aware as a society about the negative consequences that occurs with a concussion in the
short term and the long run. Researchers claim that concussions can decrease your thinking
capacity all the way to even a shortened life span. Most importantly to any claim there is proof;
numerous athletes over the years have unfortunately committed suicide because of depression/post
concussionsymptoms. However, the world runs on money thus lawsuits by former athletes are
starting to be very common as most have lost their career earnings due to addictions. The real
issue is how can we as a society limit concussions from having such terrible effects. This research
paper details the social and economic spheres that stem from concussions and their effects. With
emphasis on how to prevent traumatic brain injuries from occurring and the proper rehabilitation
steps once one has been sustained. This paper will also address solutions for this issue at hand
with regards to prevention, treatment and recovery. In the health world, concussions are finally
now deemed as serious issues to physicians and athletic trainers. A couple decades ago,
concussions were seen as just getting your bell rung with no long term effects, that is really tragic
when we really look back on it. There were many

Authority Figure In The Milgram And The Stanford Prisoner...
You are taking part in an experiment and you are asked by an authority figure to harm someone.
Do you view the authority as someone to be respected? Are you afraid of the consequences? Do
you feel obligated to carry out the experiment? Are your morals strong enough to be disobedient to
the authority? People have often been put into the place of having to choose whether to be
destructively obedient or to disobey and face the consequences. This has happened in Nazi Germany
, and in both the Milgram and the Stanford Prisoner experiments. How do those who are obedient
and disobedient differ? Many different kinds of factors can play a part in a person s decision to be
obedient to an authorityor to be completely disobedient. In these experiments, or even in real life,
an authority figure can hold a lot of power. However, some may view them differently than others.
What do authorities even look like? Why do people feel the need to listen to them? An authority
may seem well educated, put together, respectable, and powerful. The way a person views an
authority can can often be the determining reason in whether they feel the need to be obedient to
them. Those people who are obedient to an authority may view the authority as someone who
should be respected because of the way that they act, their title, or their education level. When
someone respects another person, they are more likely to listen and obey. This goes along with
feeling inferior to the authority figure because those

Analyzing The Posters Beauty And The Beast
Beauty and the Beast is the movie poster that I love to write about because this is one of my
favorite movies. The poster shows a red rose that is keep in the inside of a clear glass container,
which light up in the dark background that portrats the sadness. Due to the organization of this
poster, I think it wants to show the audience about the hope of love. The rose in the middle
represent the love that is keep and wait to be releast. There is also snow in the background which
it mentions about the coldness and loneliness of the Beast in this movie. I am enjoing this poster
because it have a deeper meaning than what it actually looks like. Some other posters of this movie
show its charaters and this would be too easy to know what the movie

The Effect Of A Light Ray Reflecting
This lab is made up of four different parts. In the first part we will examine the effects of a light
ray reflecting at different angles of incident from a convex, flat, and convex mirror. In the second
part a light ray will be refracted through a rhombus prism at different angles of incidence. We will
measure the angles using a protractor. For the third experiment we will examine the indices of
colors as light is refracted through the rhombus. Lastly, we will use polar lens to examine Brewster
s angleand polarization.
THEORY
PART A: REFLECTION
When a light ray hits a point on a plane mirror surface (called the incidence ray), it bounces off that
same point and thus changes the course in which it is traveling. An angle of incidence can be
obtained by measuring the angle between the ray of incidence and a line normal to the surface of
the mirror. The angle of the reflected ray can also be obtained in the same way by measuring the
angle between the reflected ray and the line normal to the surface. Measuring the two angles we
can see that they are the same angle thus confirming the law of reflection: О r=О i.Eq.1
PART B: REFRACTION
Refraction is caused when a ray of light travels through different mediums. When the light crosses
through the material it causes the light to bend or refract because the wave does not enter the
medium at

The Assessment Of A Community s Decision For Real Initiative
According to Monmonier (1996), those who do have Internet and GIS accessibility face the
potential to be placed in a vulnerable position. He believes that the public who is armed with a
GIS but lacking the savvy to use the system appropriately becomes vulnerable to sarcastic attacks
from site advocates . Meaning, that a community s opinion may not be taken seriously or may be
misrepresented in the eyes of policymakers because the people in that community may not be using
the GIS software correctly, therefore they do not comprehend the data that is being presented to
them in a GIS platform. This connects to another complication, that the general public may not
have the basic training requirements needed to properly understand GIS software. Referring back
to Carver, et al (2001), one of the issues they encountered during the observation of the
Neighbourhood Initiatives Foundation s Planning for Real initiative was a general lack of
familiarity with GIS software, especially from older age groups of manual trade.
The solution to these issues cannot be resolved in a short period of time as these are mainly socio
economic complications, however, attainable solutions are present. As far as GIS comprehensive,
this will become less of an issue as more people become familiar with using computers and maps
through work and education (Carver et al, 2001). As mentioned earlier in Baker s (2005) article,
strides are being made to teach K 12 students Web GIS, for digital learning

Baldwin s Waiting Room-Personal Narrative
Good morning, I said as I walked into room 34. I picked up the patient s chart and looked through
it. So you ve been experiencing speech difficulties, headaches, nausea, and drowsiness? I asked.
Yeah. I m sure it s nothing, though, Mrs. Gallagher replied. How long have you had these
symptoms? I questioned. About a year.
Why didn t you come in earlier?
I always thought it was nothing but then the headaches got worse and my husband made me come
in.
I stared at her chart for a good 10 minutes before it hit me. I ll, um, come back later, I said as I
walked out before Mrs. Gallagher could say anything. I ran to find the head of neurosurgery, Dr.
Brown. After about 30 minutes of looking I decided to just wait until I saw him. I worked on other

I m kind of busy. he said as he was walking away. I followed him. I think one of my patients could
have a brain tumor, I said while following Dr Brown. Well, take her to get a brain scan and If she
does then let me know.
I ran to Ms. Gallagher s room as fast as I could. I m going to take you down to radiology so you can
get a brain scan, I informed her. Why, what s wrong with me? she asked. I m not sure yet.
After we got there I waited for the scans to come up. She had a brain tumor and by the location
of it, it looked like a primary glioblastoma. (One of the worst brain tumors you can get.) That s
not even the worst of it. The tumor was inoperable. After taking Mrs. Gallagher back to her room,
I paged Dr.Brown to radiology and asked him to look at the scans. Yup, thats a primary
glioblastoma, but there s no way we can operate on it, he

An Anti ‐ Inflammatory Effects
Cranberry contains high levels of nutrients and bioactive molecules that have health‐promoting
properties. The purpose of the present studies was to determine if cranberry extracts (CEs) contain
phytochemicals that exert anti‐inflammatory effects. The human monocytic cell line THP‐1
was treated with two CEs (CE and 90MX) and subsequently challenged with Lipopolysaccharides
(LPS). Tumor necrosis factor α (TNF α) expression was decreased in the CE‐treated cells,
indicative of an anti‐inflammatory effect. Gene expression microarrays identified several
immune‐related genes that were responsive to CEs including interferon‐induced protein with

2004). Cranberries, in powder, extract or juice, have been reported to be beneficial for helping
prevent urinary tract infections (Wang et al. 2012; Blumberg et al. 2013; Foxman et al. 2015),
oxidative stress and cardiometabolic risk factors such as reducing C‐reactive protein and
lowering blood pressure (Basu et al. 2011; Dohadwala et al. 2011; Novotny et al. 2015). As
cranberry is a natural food product and not a drug, the effect seen is often mild but that is consistent
with the recommendation for a food with health components that is consumed as part of a healthy
balanced lifestyle.
In vitro evidence has shown the antioxidant potential of cranberry phenolic compounds including
protection of human microvascular endothelial cells against ROS, and HepG2 cells from
inflammatory insults and reduced glycation (Caton et al. 2010; Crozier et al. 2010; Liu et al. 2011;
Watson et al. 2014; MartГn et al. 2015). A recent publication also showed the bioavailability and
bioactivity of cranberry phenolics and metabolites from consuming cranberry juice beverage
(McKay et al. 2015). The protective effect of these compounds may be related to their function in
sequestering ROS and/or maintaining the cell components in their correct redox state, but

Watership Down Power Quotes
Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength,
mastering yourself is true power, says Lao Tzu. The rabbits in Watership Down that are aspiring
leaders deal with a constant battle that relates perfectly to Lao Tzu s quote. Some gain power
through their stature, others through their wit, but the truly effective leaders use the ideal attributes
both from themselves and the rabbits they are leading. The desire for power in this novel is
exhibited through aspiring leaders that lead in their own best interest and those who lead in the best

When Fiver, Hazel s younger brother, has a vision about the warren being attacked, he
immediately sets out to tell Threarah. After Fiver and Hazel finally reach the distanced
Threarah, he ignores them. Threarah scolds them for interrupting his sleep and his patience.
This decision is important in displaying the desire for power in Threarah; he knows that if he
listens to Fiver he could lose everything. The task of moving the entire warren would not only
take mounds of time and effort, but the decision would also be Threarah s. This means that if
the move was a bad decision he could possibly lose his power. Threarah is willing to risk the
lives of his entire warren to safely retain power; he is so caught up in being power hungry that
Fiver s vision eventually becomes true and the whole warren is killed. As our first example of a
power crazy leader, this quickly shows the reader the social hierarchy of the rabbits as well as the
extent they re willing to do to maintain it. The next chief rabbit that leads in his own interest is
Woundwort, chief rabbit of the Efrafa warren. After having both of his parents killed at an early
age, Woundwort constructed this warren to stay under the radar from any human contact.
Woundwort is a classic tyrannical leader; he is

The Act Of Selfishness In Ayn Rand s Sleepy Hollow
The act of selfishness is painted all over the story. This can be seen with our very own Ichabod
Crane, with him being selfish toward his relationship with Katrina wherein he did not truly love
her, but desired her father s wealth instead. In fact, it was in his plans to sell off the Van Tassel
family s farm once he d gotten married to Katrina. While it s true that he would help around the
places he stayed in and make the old wives happy, he did these things for his own benefit. He
only worked to make his hosts happy enough to feed him as much food as he wanted, not as a
kind deed or as a way to show his gratitude for letting him stay with them. Even as he left Sleepy
Hollow, he did not bother to come back to what he had left behind, but continued on his way as if
the village had never existed. If he had truly loved Katrina, or cared about the children he taught,
or those housewives he ate with, he would have come back, wouldn t he? It seems like he just
moved on to the next house of whoever would feed him.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I say so because he thinks only of himself and his own desires. He had no good thought for Ichabod
and leeched off of his fears and worries. We all know that he did this to humiliate Ichabod in
order to capture Katrina s heart by making her believe that Ichabod was a weak coward and that
he, Brom Bones, was manly and powerful. Furthermore, he would constantly play pranks on the
people of the village (like he did to Ichabod), not caring about how they felt or what the effects of
his actions were. Believe it or not, the dainty Katrina who is the love interest of our two main
men, was self centred as well! I mean... in her own way. She practically used Ichabod to make
Bones jealous! It kind of makes you think: who truly loved

The Philosophy Of Classroom Management
Theoretical Introduction Philosophy of Classroom Management When I think of my future
classroom, I imagine it to a home. I plan for my students and I to be a big family , and it will still
be a learning environment. While I am teaching a lesson I would like for my students to be quite
when they should be listening and participating when it is time for them to participate. I am there to
guide their learning, the students will be allowed to share, correct, and exchange information when
the time is appropriate. I will have the traditional teaching style which is the students paying
attention to the teacher, then once the students seem to understand the content they will then be
able to move around and interact with other student in either group discussions or at the learning
centers throughout the classroom. My classroom will be nice and bright to keep up the positive
energy, and it will still be conducted as a learning environment for my students, and they will
understand that everything that they learn in my classroom will travel with them till they are old,
and they will be able to understand why they are in school and what their purpose is in life.
Assumptions about the Nature of Young People and Learning Every young person wants to
satisfy their basic needs which usually tends to be power, love, freedom and fun. They always
want to be in control of their selves and the area around them. Children will misbehave when they
feel like the area is too strict around them,

The Differences Between Leadership And Management
In his book A Force for a Change, John Kotter (1990) proposed that management differs from
leadership, because leadership is a process that focuses of making organisational changes, while
management is primarily concerned with control and results . The terms leader and manager are
too often used interchangeably, leaders are not always managers, and managers are not always
effective leaders. However to support quality patient outcomes, nurses can demonstrate leadership
and managementskills at any level of experience and in any stage of their careers. This paper will
outline the differences between leadership and management, how leadership and management
relate to nursing, how skills can be developed and how graduate nurses can struggle to display
these skills, but can learn how to become an effective leader with time and education.
Rosabeth Moss Kanter stated that, leaders must wake people out of inertia; they must get people
excited about something they ve never seen before, something that does not exist (O Connor,
2015). The definition of leadership may vary based on the context and setting to which it is
applied, but in a general sense, leadership is a process to guide, structure, and facilitate activities
and relationships in a group or organisation, by exerting intentional influence over other people
(Cox, 2016). Effective leaders should have clear visions, be adaptable and have the ability to
inspire others toward a common goal (Cox, 2016). Anytime a person leads

White Tailed Deer Essay
Hemorrhagic Disease of White Tailed Deer is a phrase that describes an infection of either
Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease (EHD) and/or Blue Tongue Disease (BT). These two diseases
are clinically and molecularly very similar. Since the symptoms of both diseases are
indistinguishable molecular testing is needed to specifically identify these viruses. Both viruses
are spread by biting midges in the Culcoides genus which is found in a majority of the US.
Historically, there have been large outbreaks in the US and all over the world which has lead to
economic losses of various degrees. With current expansion of these diseases vector, a lack of

This means that the viruses are not combated in any way, because the vectors are not active
during the cold months of the year. The cold temperature is also a limiting factor of the
geographic regions of where these diseases are found. In the US the primary vector is Culcoides
sonorensis. Although other species of the Culcoides genus are known to be able to transmit these
viruses this specific species is the most prominent. Cold weather associated with the distribution
of the disease also contributes to its impact on wildlife. These late summer and early winter
months are vital for deer. This is generally when female deer give birth in the summer and breed
in the early winter. Currently there is no plan for vector control. The change in land cover has
been shown to increase habitat for these vectors. Evaluating habitat for vectors is vital in
identifying sources for monitoring of the diseases. (2) Change in land cover is associated with
urbanization and climate change (5) and current practices of habitat restoration include making very
biological diverse habitats which are promote these vectors and increase exposure to these wild

Why is this so? What are the differences in the statistics courses taught in the Engineering College,
the Psychology or Sociology
Departments in the Liberal Arts College, and the College of Business? The biggest difference is the
examples used. The course content is basically the same. In the
College of Business we are interested in such things as profits, hours worked, and wages.
Psychologists are interested in test scores, and engineers are interested in how many units are
manufactured on a particular machine. However, all three are interested in what is a typical value
and how much variation there is in the data. There may also be a difference in the level of
mathematics required. An engineering statistics course usually requires calculus. Statistics courses
in colleges of business and education usually teach the course at a more applied level. You should
be able to handle the mathematics in this text if you have completed high school algebra.
So why is statistics required in so many majors? The first reason is that numerical information is
everywhere. Look in the newspapers (USA Today), news magazines ( Time, Newsweek, U.S. News
and World Report), business magazines
(Bloomberg Businessweek, Forbes), general interest magazines (People), women s

Gender Roles In Gender Media

Gender Roles in Genre Media
In order to understand the issues with gender roles in genre media you must first understand
what genre media is. In this case genre media is a term used to describe films, television, and
books that traditionally cater to a specific fan base. There are two general types of genre media,
speculative and science fiction (Sci fi) and situational comedy such as the Big Bang Theory. By
focusing on women in speculative and science fiction which is traditionally a boys club a
comparison can be made to the ways in which traditional gender roles and stereotypes are portrayed.
Although this is changing young boys and men are still considered to be the target demographic ...

Competitiveness In America
Over the period of study, the relative strength in the Peripheral South diminished as the Republican
Party became more competitive in the Deep South. Over time, one should see both the national and
state indexes increase with the state party index lagging behind the national party index. While this
is far from definitive, it supports the findings of some scholars who say that the increase in
Republican Party competitiveness started at the national level and went to affect the
competitiveness of electionsto lower level political offices. A major reason that the state score
index lags behind the national index is that the state index includes state legislative offices (and not
votes as we have for the other offices included in the MPI) which... Show more content on

Americans. Several scholars saw an increase in white voter turnout from the early 1950s to the
1970s of about 70 percent. Voting was no longer for the populations better people, but instead
became more universal. Looking at figures 3.3 and 3.4, it is evident that there is an upward trend in
the data, but that the increase is much larger in the Deep South than in the Peripheral South. The

Christ The King Catholic Church
Visitation Report Christ the King Catholic Church is located at 8005 Dorset Drive in Oklahoma
City. The Catholic denomination is the oldest branch of organized Christianity. Being a member of
the Catholic church means being a devout follower of God. It means that you believe in the the
death and resurrection of JesusChrist and accept him as your lord and savior. Catholics are a part
of the Church that Christ established and entrusted to Saint Peter and his successors, the popes. I
attended the 10 a.m. mass at Christ the King on July 12, 2015. The service was a little over an
hour long and it was an immensely different and interesting experience. Music is and has always
been a staple of Christian worship. The worship music at Christ the King was extremely traditional.
All of the songs that were sung were traditional hymnals and the congregation seemed to know each
hymn by heart. The lyrics were accompanied by an organ and each pew contained a worship book
that contained the hymns as well as the gospel acclamations and creeds that accompanied them. The
priest sang instead of speaking during the worship, reading of the holy scripture, and communion. In

Theme Of Deception In Hamlet, Prince Of Denmark By William...
Throughout history there have been numerous works of literature that involve characters who
function by deceitful motives. These pieces of literature involve multiple diverse characters who
deceive one another in order to achieve some type of personal gain, expose truths, or fulfill
commands. In the tragedy titled The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, by William
Shakespeare, deception formulates in result of multiple diverse events, and it plays an enormous
role in how the story plays out. There are many instances where Hamlet deceives another character,
which ultimately leads to the tragic end result of this play, which demonstrates to readers that
seeking revenge only brings about hardship, death, and destruction. As the play

Peyton 5 the next day/Was our sea flight, and what to this was sequent/Thou knowest already.
(5.2.49 55). By changing his name that was on the letter to England, to the names of
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, he is deceiving and essentially gaining vengeance over them by
sending them to England where they are executed in his place. This act of deception which grants
Hamlet vengeance over his old friends serves to foreshadow the revenge that Hamlet is to bring
over King Claudius. It also predicts the death of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern in which a
British Ambassador informs Denmark of after the murder scene in act 5 even though they actually
died before the death scene in Denmark, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead (5.2.372).
Shakespeare allowed for this to happen so that he could essentially make it seem that they all die at
once. Hamlet s deceiving of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern help Shakespeare accomplish this effect
as well as his underlying message that he conveys to the reader through many examples and
instances of a deceiving nature leading to complete and total

Expostulation And Reply By William Wordsworth
The revolutionary decade of the 1790s produced literature that was not only distinguished by new
and often radical ideas, but also by experimentation and innovation with regard to genre and form.
Discuss with reference to Lyrical Ballads and/or Maria and/or Northanger Abbey.
In this essay, I will discuss how the literature produced by the revolutionary decade of the 1970 s
was distinguished by new and radical ideas, and experimentation with regard to genre and form, in
relation to William Wordsworths Lyrical Ballads. The poem which I will be drawing from in this
essay is Expostulation and Reply , and the Preface to Lyrical Ballads.

The poem is set in the Lake District of Wordsworth s youth, and embodies the ideals of the
Romantic Era; that nature and human intuition have a kind of knowledge not found in books and
formal education. When confronted as to why he spends his time at the lake, musing and
contemplating, Wordsworth replies with what was to become a memorable moment in english
literature; nature nurtures the mind in a unique way, with it s own wisdom, one which cannot be
found in the pages of scholarly books. To stimulate his senses entirely, a man must just sit in the
presence of nature. This was an idea found in the works of many romantic poets, who were thought
to have a distrust in mankind, but found peace and knowledge in closeness with nature. Romantic
poetry allowed us to see their world directly and much of romantic poetry invited the reader to
identify the protagonists with the poets themselves. (Abrams)
The metre of this poem is in iambic tetrameter, which places emphasis on the power of nature. For
example, in the first line, the words old and stone are emphasised by the metre, pointing towards
the poets belief in the power and importance of nature. Again, in the third stanza, the metre points
towards moth and earth , furthering the pointed use of nature as a genre. it has been common in
critical writing since the romantic period to equate the loosening of specifically metrical restrictions

Congenital Cataracts Cause Blindness Around The World
Congenital Cataract is one of the leading preventable diseases that causes blindness around the
world, being one of the easiest diseases to treat, the major complication being that some countries
do not have the sufficient resources to treat it. The disease is formed in the eye and forms a sort of
cloud in the natural lens of the eyethat could eventually lead to blindness if not treated properly.
This type of cataractis different from most cataracts, since congenital cataracts is present in an
individual since birth, meaning that it was most likely inherited from the parents. The way that it is
inherited is by some sort of abnormality, which would transpire during the making of the proteins
that make the lens clear. There are many different... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The study done by these researchers proved that timely surgery can be beneficial to the vision of
individuals who suffer from congenital cataracts. They analyzed results from the aftermath of
eye surgery there was a small improvement to most of the individuals vision. There were various
individuals whose vision was not corrected and in fact was worsened. The children at the time
were around 11 years old, so it was concluded that some of the children had had the disease for too
long for it to be corrected. This underlines the significance of discovering and treating congenital
cataracts at a young age, preferably as an infant. Most developing countries are still aiming to
improve their health care and avoiding the consequences of congenital cataracts, yet they are in
trouble with nearly 30% of health professions in Africa and Asia plan to migrate to a different
country (Lenhart, 2016). In Lenhart s research article, he concludes that most troubles these
developing countries have roots from financial struggles. These financial struggles lead to poor
resources within the countries. These developing countries do not even have the machinery to
detect eye diseases in children, such as the red reflex screening. Without these tests, infants are left
with a preventable disease

The health effects following exposure to blast impact are a growing concern in the United States,
especially in the military population. The United State s involvement in warfare in recent years
has led to many unseen developments not only psychologically but also physically in the service
men and women returning home. Technological changes in current years have allowed for the
development of various types of lethal weaponry, such as with high intensity explosive devices.
Improvised explosive devices, known as IEDs have largely been used in recent wars in Iraq and
Afghanistan. The use of IEDs in combat has led to debilitating losses and handicaps experienced by

One of the breakthrough studies (Gallun et al., 2012) tested 36 blast exposed and 29 non blast
exposed participants. Participants were tested on batteries of behavioral and physical tests
whose scores can demonstrate a connection to problems with central auditory processing (Gallun
et al., 2012). The purpose of the study was to see if participants with blast exposure performed
worse on these tests than participants without blast exposure, especially with hearing in complex
auditory environments and speech in noise types of measures (Gallun et al., 2012). The blast
exposure group included veterans seeking treatment at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center
post Iraq War. They identified as having exposure to a high intensity blast at least once within the
past year. They were excluded from the study if they had any TBI higher than the moderate
diagnosis, and were also excluded if they had a hearing loss over 50 dB HL. Subjects without
blast exposure were also recruited for the study and were tested at the National Center for
Rehabilitative Auditory Research in Portland. These subjects data were used as a baseline
comparison to obtain data reflecting the general population that has been unaffected by blast
exposure. The non blast exposure group was recruited into the study based on similar age and
hearing capabilities as those with blast exposure. Participants from both groups underwent

Can Money Buy Happiness Analysis
In the informational text, Can Money Buy Happiness? , the central idea is by spending money
unselfishly, can bring joy to both to giver and the receiver . For instance, in the informational text,
Professor Elizabeth Dunn conducted a research in 2008. She gave cash to two groups of students.
She told one group to spend cash on themselves and the other to spend it on someone else. Which
group turned out out be happier? The group that spent the money on others. (Scope Magazine pg
26) According to the research, it is clear that spending money unselfishly brings joy to oneself, but
does the character Jerry from, President Cleveland, Where Are You? agree with the central idea of
Can Money Buy Happiness? Jerry would probably have disagreed with the central idea.
First of all, Jerry spent the money to bring Armand, his older brother, to a dance. This could be
confirmed in the text when Armand was dressed up in a suit with new shoes when before he
only had some old shoes that were falling apart. Where he got the suit? It was from Jerry. I
needed that five dollars it was an emergency (Comier pg 29) Jerry spent the five dollars on
Armand, although Jerry feels regretful. Jerry spent money on Armand for love, even though he
never agreed with love. I was glad I had never become involved with love love that bought
desperation to your eyes, that caused you to write letters you did not plan to send. (Comier pg 28)
Jerry also muttered Love when he saw Armand, Jerry obviously regretted his decision but at the
same time he thought he would feel happy.
Secondly, Jerry may have not felt happy because he was forced to spend the money unselfishly.
Think about it, he never felt like giving the money to Armand for the cause of love but it felt he
forced himself to give him the money, or like someone gave him a command to do it. This is
implied when Armand thought Jerry a lesson. It s all right, he (Armand) said gently. Maybe you
learned something. The words were gentle but they held a curious dignity, the dignity remaining
even when his voice cracked on the last syllable. (Cormain pg 27) This was probably
foreshadowing the part in the story Jerry felt like he was commanded or forced to

The Pros And Cons Of The Establishment Clause
The First Amendment declares, Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of
religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof . The fundamental ideas behind the Free Exercise
Clause and the Establishment Clause are both involved in the literature of this statement. Both of
these clauses support the separation of government involvement in religious affairs. Nonetheless,
the Establishment Clause is distinct from the former because it specifically requires a degree of
separation between church and state (Rossum, 281). The last century has seen a great deal of
governmental interaction with religious groups and practices. As a result, the use of litigation to
settle these disputes has been extremely prevalent. Perhaps, the first trial to outline the
Establishment Clause was Everson v. Board of Education. The court ruled in a 5 4 decision
upholding a New Jersey program that covered the cost of bus transportation for students attending
private schools (Rossum, 281). Although the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the religious
students, it unanimously agreed that the Establishment Clause was designed to serve as a
separating force between church and state. Justice Black s subsequent statement regarding the court
s decision was significant considering its implications from that point forward. His statement
suggested that the Establishment Clause imposes equally strict restrictions on state and federal
actions regarding religious affairs. Moreover, it stated that the

Transverse Colon Volvulus
Volvulus is rotation of part of the intestine around its mesentry, causing a intestinal obstruction.
Colonic volvulus is not common cause of intestinal obstruction in the developed world. However
much more common in the developing world (6,7). High prevalence of volvulus are reported in
the Volvulus Belt of Africa, the Middle East, India, and Russia. In these regions, the average age is
younger than Western countries, ranging from 40 to 50 years and in generally better health (8). In
the United States, colonic volvulus accounts for 10 to 15% of all colon obstructions(9). The

Twisting of bowel commonly occurs along the mesenteric axis , resulting in venous obstruction
and eventually arterial compromise. Redundancy and non fixation of bowel are essential to form
any type of volvulus. The ascending and descending segments of the colon are not mobile , but the
sigmoid colon, caecum, and transverse colon are not fixed within the peritoneum, tethered by their
mesentery. This mobility contributes volvulus to occur at these locations. Thirty three to thirty
five percent of patients with volvulus of the transverse colon appear to have had a history of
chronic constipation which is either idiopathic or secondary to autonomic dysfunction (5) . In our
patient chronic constipations , laxative abuse and high fibre diet may be contributing for the
transverse colon volvulus . These conditions may predispose the elongation and chronic
redundancy of the colon and its mesentry, which favoure it to rotation. In our part of world , most
of people are farmer and they eat high fibre content diet, that may be reason for high incidence of
volvulus. Honestely , it is difficult to conclude the broad conclusions regarding the incidence of
transverse colon volvulus in the adult population due to the relatively small number of reported
cases. Therefore, surgeon should be aware of these unusal causes of large bowel obstruction to

Character Analysis Of Night By Elie Wiesel
1. Many scenarios and events take place that foreshadow the dangers that are coming to the
people of Sighet, such as the deportation of foreign Jews from Sighet, the Fascist party seizing
power, (resulting in a new government) Eliezer s close friend, Moshe the Beadle, escapes
bringing his information and warnings, news about growing tension and Anti Semitic acts in
Budapest, and even more so the fact Germans arrived and the Jerdict had been sent out
foreshadows grave danger. I believe that the people of Sighet, including Eliezer s family, ignore
and overlook these things because they constantly reassure themselves that they are safe by
saying we even thought ourselves rather well off; we were entirely self contained. Although
things are grim, the Jews of Sighet hold on to false hope that they will be saved soon, And in
doing so, they conjure up excuses to the warnings of people like Moshe and tell one another that
he has gone mad. They refuse to open their eyes to see what is down the road to better prepare
themselves. 2. Madame Schächter is a character used by Wiesel to foreshadow future events,
and she is used to visually demonstrate the extent of how an experience can make an individual
emotionally and mentally terrified. This also produces an anger in the victims on board who try
to silence her voice showing that they develop a level of power in the life where they lack it

The Day After Donald Trump Was Sworn Into Office As The
The day after Donald Trump was sworn into office as the 45th president of the United Sates,

and policies (Lee, Protesting Trump with the Women s March ). One month has passed since his
inauguration day, and Trump s actions as presidenthave given rise to continued protests and outcries.
One of those voices crying in the wilderness is Thomas Friedman, columnist for the New York

Due to the U.S. s interdependencies with other countries, Friedman argued that this country needs a
national leader who can see how all the dots (or presidential decisions) connect, and he clearly
believes that Donald Trump is the exact opposite of what this country needs and what the majority
wants.
As previously noted, Friedman used logos, or claims of fact, to support and further his argument.
He factually summarized the Trans Pacific Partnership, the North American security envelope,
and events of 9/11. He detailed Trump s actions, which have been reported repeatedly by various
news sources. For example, various media outlets reported that Trump made disparaging remarks
about Judge Robart, calling him a so called judge and labeling his ruling ridiculous (Heisig,
Trump s comments on judiciary ). Furthermore, his analogies and cause effect relationships
evoked cognitive, rational responses. For example, when arguing that the results of Trump s wall
to keep out Mexican immigrants would cause problems for U.S. companies doing business in and
with Mexico, he compared it to tighter security at the U.S. Mexican border during 9/11, which
caused U.S. companies like Ford to shut down assembly lines because their supply chain extends to
Mexico. Additionally, he appealed to the reader s logic when discussing how Mexico, Canada, and
the U.S. paired together after 9/11 to share information about potential security threats entering
North America and how building a

Woodrow Wilson s War Message

Abstract
On April 2, 1917, President Wilson wrote and spoke one of his famous speech: War Message.
President Wilson wants to ensure the people s hope and faith from the war. As President Wilson
(1917) stated in his speech Each nation must decide for itself how it will meet it... Our motive
will not be revenge or the victorious assertion of the physical might of the nation, but only the
vindication of right, of human right, of which we are only a single champion. was to fix the
issue the nation was in. President Wilson wants to show the people that we need to get involved
war for the loss of many American lives that Germany took. Wilson persuades to Congress to go
to war. President Wilson shows his persuasion effectively by using rhetorical strategies. Each
strategy he used gave more persuasion to Congress to declare war on Germany. All the persuasion
he used to convince Congress was put in his famous speech War Message.
Wilson s War Message During the 1920s, the United States was forced into war by the Germans.
Germany, attacking and violating with the use of submarines, gave President Woodrow Wilson
, who
was president during World War I, no other option but to go into war. We enter this war only
where we are clearly forced into it because there are no other means of defending our rights.

Early Life Of Buddhism Essay
Furthermore, Buddhism was founded in the late 6th century B.C.E. by a man named Siddhartha
Gautama, who is infamously known as the Buddha. Buddhism is the most influential religion in a
lot of the Asian countries. Buddhism has assumed many different forms over the years, but there
has always been an attempt to draw from the Buddha s life experiences and the essence of his
teachings, known as dharma. These life experiences and teachings model an appropriate religious
life. However, it wasn t until the first or second century that there was a complete account of the
Buddha s life and that was due to the writing of Buddha Charita, which is the life of Buddha, by

Kalamkari Essay
Kalamkari the ancient Indian art of painting
Kalamkari refers to a method of painting natural dyes onto cotton or silk fabric with a bamboo pen
or kalam. The name kalamkari translates as pen (kalam) work (kari) in Hindi/Urdu, and was most
likely derived from trade relationships between Persian and Indian merchants as early as the 10th
century CE. European merchants also had names for this type of fabric decoration: the Portugese
called it pintado, the Dutch used the name sitz, and the British preferred chintz. The name
kalamkari is used prominently today, and is synonymous with both painted and hand blockprinted
textiles that incorporate natural vegetable/organically derived dye stuffs. While there are many

CHARCOAL SKETCH
Most artists will sketch a charcoal outline on the prepared cloth before application of black dye
(kasimi). Some artists use charred tamarind twigs to draw, while others use commercially
manufactured charcoal or lead pencils.
The following steps are taken to prepare tamarind twigs (chinta boggo) for sketching: * Dried
twigs that have fallen around the tree are gathered and broken to a length of 3 7 inches. * To
char the twigs, a shallow circular pit is scooped out in dry soil and a heap of sand is kept besides
the pit. * The dry twigs are piled up to a height of 2 3 inches above the ground level. Some
newspaper is also placed among the twigs to facilitate burning. The twigs and paper is set on
fire. * When the flame dies down, sand is thrown over the twigs, and they are set to cool in the pit
for 3 4 hours. * This slow cooling makes the pencils tough. The ash coloured twigs are then
unearthed, rolled between one?s fingers to remove greyish bark until black color is revealed. * The
pencils so prepared can be stored until further use (do not remove bark before charring; else the
twigs will turn to ash).
KASIMI (Black) Black ink/dye or kasimi is at the basis of all traditional kalamkari paintings; it is
used to outline all figures,

Brittle Rupture of Glass Plates
Guirguis Rezk SID 199991603 Objectives:

This tension is produced by the bending moment of the load. For this reason the plates were
placed with scratches facing downwards so that the procedure could test the effect of flaw size
on fracture stress. Otherwise the experiment would have probably shown little difference
between scratched and unscratched samples. The scratched samples also showed consistent
directions in that they were nearly always perpendicular, this was due to linkage of cracks.
Whereas for unscratched glass, the crack will propagate according to the local shape and
direction of the defect. The three point bending test is used for brittle materials only for two
reasons. The first is because brittle materials cannot be tested with conventional uniaxial tension
tests because of early failure at the grips. The second reason is that LEFM can only be applied in
bending tests to brittle materials because yielding occurs around the same point as failure, so
failure stresses can be used to calculate normal tensions in the beam using Пѓ = Mc/I. That is the
stress versus strain diagrams remain nearly linear up until failure. Fracture toughness is the ability of
a material to withstand brittle fracture in the presence of a crack or flaw. The equation as
mentioned earlier is derived from linear elastic fracture mechanics and stipulates that crack length is
inversely proportional to fracture stress. The

A Brotherhood That Cannot Be Broken The flag rising on Iwo Jima, a very popular, famous, and
historic photo almost anyone can recognize at any given time. I think that this photo became so
popular and considered historic because it has been a symbol of our military s patriotism and
valor America s strength, honor, and brotherhood. A strength that cannot be shaken, honor that
cannot be abjured, and a brotherhood that cannot be broken. The battle for Iwo Jima was a
bloody battle against the Japanese forces. The island took the heaviest and longest bombardment
compared to any battles in the Pacific during the war ( Battle for Iwo Jima, 1945 , 1960). The
battle for Iwo Jima started in June of 1944 but the invasion of the island didn t start until February

challenging, and too steep to conquer so to say. I m sure climbing Mount Suribachi almost offers
the same intensity, if not more. On the other hand, I wasn t able to choose who I wanted to go after
the EIB and compete with me but I was able to choose whom I wanted to be with in this journey on
going after the badge. Essentially, my company commander and four other non commissioned
officers accompanied me throughout the whole testing. Relating back to brotherhood, I couldn t
have conquered my island if it wasn t for my brothers that were with me throughout the entire
testing period. Stories of American pride, dignity, and honor, much like the Battle of Iwo Jima,
would not be a prominent, like it is today, it would not have made history; the soldiers who fought
would have just been embedded in the creator s memories, if it weren t for the witnesses present to
tell the tale. First person accounts of exactly what happened that day, are what we are living off, to

Essay about Effect of Media Violence on Children
Effect of Media Violence on Children
The children of today are surrounded by technology and entertainment that is full of violence. It is
estimated that the average child watches from three to five hours of television a day! Listening to
music is also a time consuming pastime among children. With all of that exposure, one might pose
the question, How can seeing so much violence on television and video games and hearing about
violence in in music affect a child s behavior? Obviously these media have a big influence on
childrens behavior: we can see it in the way they attempt to emulate their favorite rock stars by
dressing in a similar style and the way children play games, imitating their favorite cartoon

14), and Ice Cube, who goes on trial next month on charges of shooting a man to death at a
bowling alley (AP Nov. 11), are seen as heroes to a lot of children. Most people would agree that
they are not very good role models and that the lyrics that they write promoting shooting
policeman and raping women can have a negative affect on children s behavior. However, there
are examples of music having a positive influence on kids are also prevalent. The girl rap group
Salt N Pepa, who are often categorized according to their sexual image, also project an image of
feminine strength. Cheryl James, a.k.a Salt, said, We get compliments from women like, You
inspired me to get out of an abusive relationship. It makes me feel good about what I do (AP
Nov. 5). There is also some good examples of music, which brings a more positive feeling to the
group. An example of this can be heard in the animaniacs compact disk.
Television
Television is especially influential on the children of today. Thirty years ago, not every home had
a television; they were considered a luxury that only the rich could afford. Now, most households
have two televisions and children watch them incessantly. Many children s programs are
extremely violent and a child can learn violent behavior from watching these programs. For
example, about a month ago, in Norway, a small girl was beaten, stripped, and left to die by three
boys aged 5, 6, and 6. When asked why

Self-Assessment
Humans have a fundamental tendency to seek positive information of themselves, namely engage
in self enhancing (Sedikides, 1993; Swann, Pelham, Krull, 1989). However, individuals are also
motivated to seek the subjective truth of themselves, namely engage in self verifying. (Sedikides,
1993; Swann et al., 1989). Simultaneously, individuals struggle and deject to seek objective and
accurate truth of themselves, namely engage in selfassessing (Sedikides, 1993). Self assessment can
occur through the process of self awareness, where individuals become conscious about their
behavior and thoughts and regulate according to their internal standards and values (Huggon, 2014).

Comparing Joy Luck Club And The Woman Warrior
Comparing The Joy Luck Club and The Woman Warrior
Amy Tan s immensely popular novel, The Joy Luck Club explores the issues faced by first and
second generation Chinese immigrants, particularly mothers and daughters. Although Tan s book is
a work of fiction, many of the struggles it describes are echoed in Maxine Hong Kingston s
autobiographical work, The Woman Warrior: Memoirs of a Girlhood Among Ghosts. The pairs of
mothers and daughters in both of these books find themselves separated along both cultural and
generational lines. Among the barriers that must be overcome are those of language, beliefs and
customs, and geographic loyalty. The gulf between these women is sadly acknowledged by Ying

Communication becomes impossible (Huntley 46).
This anecdote sets the stage for conflict between the Chinese mothers and their American daughters.
The issue of the language barrier is a constant theme in both The Joy Luck Club and The Woman
Warrior. In the immigrant narrative, English plays a major role in assimilating into the new world.
For Tan, the struggle between Chinese and English haunts both her real life and her fiction. Tan
herself stopped speaking Chinese at age five, though she has never lost her first language entirely
(Amy). Her mother, Daisy, however, speaks in a combination [...] of English and Mandarin
(Huntley 3). Tan was taunted in grade school for her mother s heavy Shanghai accent (Huntley 3).
Because Daisy never became fluent in English, the linguistic friction merely escalated between the
two women (Amy). Tan expresses this tension in her novel when the fictional Jing mei admits that
she has trouble understanding her mother s meaning, and empathizes with her aunties who see
daughters who grow impatient when their mothers talk in Chinese, who think they are stupid when
they explain things in fractured English (Tan 40 1). The stresses of a bilingual relationship are
further explored when Lena St. Clair finds herself acting as translator between her Chinese mother
and English Irish father, who each refuse to learn the other s language, placing their daughter in the
cultural crossfire (Tan

Toni Morrison Literary Devices
The postmodernist period was a period in literary period where writers used their voices to
express how they felt about what was going on in the world around them. During the postmodern
period there was many events going on that would cause an author to feel a certain way and feel
the need to express themselves. An event that could make an author feel the need to express
themselves during this period is the Civil Rights Movement. As a result of the Civil Rights
Movement, a color fence, or barrier of sorts between African Americans and white people, was
created based on opportunity and privilege. In an analysis of Toni Morrison s short stories
Sweetness , The Color Fetish , and The Work You Do, The Person You Are , one can see how the
postmodernist elements of ironyand allusions are demonstrated.
Morrison uses literary devices to her advantage when she is trying to explain her argument and
create an overall tone and feeling of her writing. The postmodern period was shaped by its use of
literary devices to prove a point and open our eyes to the world they were seeing, irony was just
one of the devices Morrison used specifically. Parody, irony, and narrative instability often
inform the tone. (CollegeBoard, Slide. 31). The authors found a way to express themselves
through their use of literary devices is their way of expressing their tone and using diction to
keep their audience interested. Also, when they use devices such as irony it can provide a
picture for the audience making them create a connection to the time period. Toni Morrison s
use of irony is evident throughout her works but one was eye catching was, It s not my fault. So
you can t blame me. (Sweetness, para. 1). This is a very ironic statement because Lula Ann s
mother is discriminating against her for how black she is based on the pure fact that her color is
going to make her an outcast in society. This was the beginning for Lula Ann because she wouldn t
have the same opportunity to pass as a white person and receive the same opportunity granted to
those of that skin color. Directly supporting the idea of the color barrier and the extent people
would go to just to try and receive the opportunities.
As a postmodern author, you cannot

J.P. Morgan Essay
J.P. Morgan
When people talk about J.P. Morgan, they often refer to one man. The J.P. Morgan dynasty was in
fact a combined effort of three generations of Morgans. In 1838, American businessman George
Peabody opened the London merchant banking firm that would establish the roots of the House of
Morgan. In 1854, Junius S. Morgan became the partner of George Peabody and eventually took over
the firm in 1864, renaming it J.S. Morgan amp; Co. At the age of twenty four, J. Pierpont Morgan
inherited his father s business, renamed the business to J.P. Morgan amp; Co., and made a point to
consolidate the firm s American and European interests. Under Pierpont s authority, J.P. Morgan...

Including two world wars, J.P. Morgan Jr. also led the company through the great depression. In
an appearance before Congress in 1933, J.P. Morgan Jr. defined a business philosophy for his
firm: quot;At all times the idea of doing not only first class business, and that in a first class way,
has been before our minds. We have never been satisfied with simply keeping within the law, but
have constantly sought to act that we may fully observe the professional code, and so maintain the
credit and representation which has been handed down to us from our predecessors in the firm. quot;
A significant bill in congress was the Banking Act of 1933, a.k.a. Glass Steagall. It was this act,
which separated commercial and investment banking, that also divided the House of Morgan. As a
result, Harry Morgan, one of Jack Morgan s sons, along with two Morgan partners and about 25
employees left to form the investment bank Morgan Stanley.
In 1943, when Jack Morgan died, Thomas Lamont became the chairman of the company. This
marked the first time since 1864 that a Morgan had not managed the firm.
One of the contributing factors to the success of J.P. Morgan was its financial involvements in
military events of the past. J.P. Morgan established its position as a future world power in 1870
when it extended a ten million pound loan to the French government during the Franco Prussian

The Four Major Components Of Carbohydrates
All living substance is made up of tiny microscopic particles called atoms. When two atoms
conjoin and act as a working functioning group, that is called a molecule. There are four major
elements of life that an atom can be made of, and those special elements are; carbon, hydrogen,
oxygen, nitrogen. All mushed together their first letters form the scientific term C H O N.
Different atoms make up different molecules for example, a water molecule is made up of an
oxygenatomand a hydrogen atom. Carbohydrates, Lipids, Proteins, and Nucleic Acids are the four
major molecules. These major four can be found in all sorts of foods and mostly all living things.
The first major molecule is the carbohydrates, more commonly referred to as carbs. A single
carbohydrateis made up of the elements carbon, hydrogen, and nitrogen. This includes the
elements C H O prior to the main elements C H O N. The main building blocks for a carbohydrate
molecule consists of sugars (Saccharides).
The three Saccharides that make up carbohydrates are; Monosaccharides, Disaccharides, and
Polysaccharides. These wondrous molecules can benefit us as humans in great ways.
Carbohydrates are one of the best sources of natural energy you can consume. For example, all
plants use the sun s energy to convert CO2 into carbohydrates. These powerful molecules also
provide structural support for cells, and can help out with the communication between two different
cells. Carbohydrates can be found almost in all foods,

  • 2. Theme Of Nature In The Epic Of Gilgamesh Nature in the Epic of Gilgamesh appears to be either man s greatest enemy or his ally, depending on whether he can conquer it at all. Those who cannot conquer nature, fear it greatly. Those who can conquer nature however, seem to gain immense personal power from doing so. Gilgamesh is an example of the latter. There is one aspect of nature that both parties fear, and will both inevitably be conquered by, that aspect is death. Gilgamesh himself is incredibly afraid and leery of death. After Enkidus death, Gilgamesh mourns for him six days and seven nights then proceeds to wander the earth. However, before he sets off wandering, he slaughtered fatted cattle and sheep and heaped them high for his friend . Gilgamesh performed these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Segal goes on to say, Odysseus comes into his own, his powers have full play, only on his return to the human world. Segal adds, the powers of the supernatural world are overwhelming, and against them, the epic hero shrinks back to his human size . Replace Odysseus with Gilgamesh and the similarities are uncanny. Gilgamesh in his own world of fighting monsters and demons, as well as the common forces of nature is quite at home, a powerful warrior above other men. When met with the somewhat supernatural force of death, Gilgamesh is reduced, back to his human size . We see proof of this, by the way he is acting and dressing while wandering. Gilgamesh is described as being clad in skin and woe was in his vitals . Siduri even points out, that Gilgamesh s cheeks are emaciated, face cast down, your heart wretched, your features wasted . As mentioned before, Gilgamesh seems to revert back to Enkidu s pre domesticated appearance. This ties back to Segal s description of what happens when the hero is is faced with the overwhelming supernatural world. Gilgamesh has shrunk back to his human size . More than this, Gilgamesh seems to have gone one step further, to an animalistic size. This relates to another point Segal makes, this reduction to human size, however, leaves Archaic man free for a more intensely personal experience of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Issue Of Concussions And Its Effects The issue of concussions has been downplayed for years dating back to when the first forms of professional football came to the U.S. but the past 10 years have been drastically different. We need to be more aware as a society about the negative consequences that occurs with a concussion in the short term and the long run. Researchers claim that concussions can decrease your thinking capacity all the way to even a shortened life span. Most importantly to any claim there is proof; numerous athletes over the years have unfortunately committed suicide because of depression/post concussionsymptoms. However, the world runs on money thus lawsuits by former athletes are starting to be very common as most have lost their career earnings due to addictions. The real issue is how can we as a society limit concussions from having such terrible effects. This research paper details the social and economic spheres that stem from concussions and their effects. With emphasis on how to prevent traumatic brain injuries from occurring and the proper rehabilitation steps once one has been sustained. This paper will also address solutions for this issue at hand with regards to prevention, treatment and recovery. In the health world, concussions are finally now deemed as serious issues to physicians and athletic trainers. A couple decades ago, concussions were seen as just getting your bell rung with no long term effects, that is really tragic when we really look back on it. There were many ... • 4. Authority Figure In The Milgram And The Stanford Prisoner... You are taking part in an experiment and you are asked by an authority figure to harm someone. Do you view the authority as someone to be respected? Are you afraid of the consequences? Do you feel obligated to carry out the experiment? Are your morals strong enough to be disobedient to the authority? People have often been put into the place of having to choose whether to be destructively obedient or to disobey and face the consequences. This has happened in Nazi Germany , and in both the Milgram and the Stanford Prisoner experiments. How do those who are obedient and disobedient differ? Many different kinds of factors can play a part in a person s decision to be obedient to an authorityor to be completely disobedient. In these experiments, or even in real life, an authority figure can hold a lot of power. However, some may view them differently than others. What do authorities even look like? Why do people feel the need to listen to them? An authority may seem well educated, put together, respectable, and powerful. The way a person views an authority can can often be the determining reason in whether they feel the need to be obedient to them. Those people who are obedient to an authority may view the authority as someone who should be respected because of the way that they act, their title, or their education level. When someone respects another person, they are more likely to listen and obey. This goes along with feeling inferior to the authority figure because those ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The poster shows a red rose that is keep in the inside of a clear glass container, which light up in the dark background that portrats the sadness. Due to the organization of this poster, I think it wants to show the audience about the hope of love. The rose in the middle represent the love that is keep and wait to be releast. There is also snow in the background which it mentions about the coldness and loneliness of the Beast in this movie. • 6. The Effect Of A Light Ray Reflecting This lab is made up of four different parts. In the first part we will examine the effects of a light ray reflecting at different angles of incident from a convex, flat, and convex mirror. In the second part a light ray will be refracted through a rhombus prism at different angles of incidence. We will measure the angles using a protractor. For the third experiment we will examine the indices of colors as light is refracted through the rhombus. Lastly, we will use polar lens to examine Brewster s angleand polarization. THEORY PART A: REFLECTION When a light ray hits a point on a plane mirror surface (called the incidence ray), it bounces off that same point and thus changes the course in which it is traveling. An angle of incidence can be obtained by measuring the angle between the ray of incidence and a line normal to the surface of the mirror. The angle of the reflected ray can also be obtained in the same way by measuring the angle between the reflected ray and the line normal to the surface. Measuring the two angles we can see that they are the same angle thus confirming the law of reflection: О r=О i.Eq.1 PART B: REFRACTION Refraction is caused when a ray of light travels through different mediums. When the light crosses through the material it causes the light to bend or refract because the wave does not enter the medium at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Assessment Of A Community s Decision For Real Initiative According to Monmonier (1996), those who do have Internet and GIS accessibility face the potential to be placed in a vulnerable position. He believes that the public who is armed with a GIS but lacking the savvy to use the system appropriately becomes vulnerable to sarcastic attacks from site advocates . Meaning, that a community s opinion may not be taken seriously or may be misrepresented in the eyes of policymakers because the people in that community may not be using the GIS software correctly, therefore they do not comprehend the data that is being presented to them in a GIS platform. This connects to another complication, that the general public may not have the basic training requirements needed to properly understand GIS software. Referring back to Carver, et al (2001), one of the issues they encountered during the observation of the Neighbourhood Initiatives Foundation s Planning for Real initiative was a general lack of familiarity with GIS software, especially from older age groups of manual trade. The solution to these issues cannot be resolved in a short period of time as these are mainly socio economic complications, however, attainable solutions are present. As far as GIS comprehensive, this will become less of an issue as more people become familiar with using computers and maps through work and education (Carver et al, 2001). As mentioned earlier in Baker s (2005) article, strides are being made to teach K 12 students Web GIS, for digital learning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I questioned. About a year. Why didn t you come in earlier? I always thought it was nothing but then the headaches got worse and my husband made me come in. I stared at her chart for a good 10 minutes before it hit me. I ll, um, come back later, I said as I walked out before Mrs. Gallagher could say anything. The purpose of the present studies was to determine if cranberry extracts (CEs) contain phytochemicals that exert anti‐inflammatory effects. The human monocytic cell line THP‐1 was treated with two CEs (CE and 90MX) and subsequently challenged with Lipopolysaccharides (LPS). Tumor necrosis factor О± (TNF О±) expression was decreased in the CE‐treated cells, indicative of an anti‐inflammatory effect. As cranberry is a natural food product and not a drug, the effect seen is often mild but that is consistent with the recommendation for a food with health components that is consumed as part of a healthy balanced lifestyle. In vitro evidence has shown the antioxidant potential of cranberry phenolic compounds including protection of human microvascular endothelial cells against ROS, and HepG2 cells from inflammatory insults and reduced glycation (Caton et al. 2010; Crozier et al. 2010; Liu et al. 2011; Watson et al. 2014; MartГn et al. 2015). A recent publication also showed the bioavailability and bioactivity of cranberry phenolics and metabolites from consuming cranberry juice beverage (McKay et al. 2015). The rabbits in Watership Down that are aspiring leaders deal with a constant battle that relates perfectly to Lao Tzu s quote. After Fiver and Hazel finally reach the distanced Threarah, he ignores them. Threarah scolds them for interrupting his sleep and his patience. This decision is important in displaying the desire for power in Threarah; he knows that if he listens to Fiver he could lose everything. The task of moving the entire warren would not only take mounds of time and effort, but the decision would also be Threarah s. This means that if the move was a bad decision he could possibly lose his power. Threarah is willing to risk the lives of his entire warren to safely retain power; he is so caught up in being power hungry that Fiver s vision eventually becomes true and the whole warren is killed. As our first example of a power crazy leader, this quickly shows the reader the social hierarchy of the rabbits as well as the extent they re willing to do to maintain it. The next chief rabbit that leads in his own interest is Woundwort, chief rabbit of the Efrafa warren. After having both of his parents killed at an early age, Woundwort constructed this warren to stay under the radar from any human contact. Woundwort is a classic tyrannical leader; he is ... • 11. The Act Of Selfishness In Ayn Rand s Sleepy Hollow The act of selfishness is painted all over the story. This can be seen with our very own Ichabod Crane, with him being selfish toward his relationship with Katrina wherein he did not truly love her, but desired her father s wealth instead. In fact, it was in his plans to sell off the Van Tassel family s farm once he d gotten married to Katrina. While it s true that he would help around the places he stayed in and make the old wives happy, he did these things for his own benefit. He only worked to make his hosts happy enough to feed him as much food as he wanted, not as a kind deed or as a way to show his gratitude for letting him stay with them. Even as he left Sleepy Hollow, he did not bother to come back to what he had left behind, but continued on his way as if the village had never existed. If he had truly loved Katrina, or cared about the children he taught, or those housewives he ate with, he would have come back, wouldn t he? Furthermore, he would constantly play pranks on the people of the village (like he did to Ichabod), not caring about how they felt or what the effects of his actions were. I plan for my students and I to be a big family , and it will still be a learning environment. While I am teaching a lesson I would like for my students to be quite when they should be listening and participating when it is time for them to participate. I am there to guide their learning, the students will be allowed to share, correct, and exchange information when the time is appropriate. I will have the traditional teaching style which is the students paying attention to the teacher, then once the students seem to understand the content they will then be able to move around and interact with other student in either group discussions or at the learning centers throughout the classroom. My classroom will be nice and bright to keep up the positive energy, and it will still be conducted as a learning environment for my students, and they will understand that everything that they learn in my classroom will travel with them till they are old, and they will be able to understand why they are in school and what their purpose is in life. Assumptions about the Nature of Young People and Learning Every young person wants to satisfy their basic needs which usually tends to be power, love, freedom and fun. • 14. The Differences Between Leadership And Management In his book A Force for a Change, John Kotter (1990) proposed that management differs from leadership, because leadership is a process that focuses of making organisational changes, while management is primarily concerned with control and results . The terms leader and manager are too often used interchangeably, leaders are not always managers, and managers are not always effective leaders. However to support quality patient outcomes, nurses can demonstrate leadership and managementskills at any level of experience and in any stage of their careers. This paper will outline the differences between leadership and management, how leadership and management relate to nursing, how skills can be developed and how graduate nurses can struggle to display these skills, but can learn how to become an effective leader with time and education. Rosabeth Moss Kanter stated that, leaders must wake people out of inertia; they must get people excited about something they ve never seen before, something that does not exist (O Connor, 2015). The definition of leadership may vary based on the context and setting to which it is applied, but in a general sense, leadership is a process to guide, structure, and facilitate activities and relationships in a group or organisation, by exerting intentional influence over other people (Cox, 2016). Effective leaders should have clear visions, be adaptable and have the ability to inspire others toward a common goal (Cox, 2016). Anytime a person leads ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These two diseases are clinically and molecularly very similar. Since the symptoms of both diseases are indistinguishable molecular testing is needed to specifically identify these viruses. Both viruses are spread by biting midges in the Culcoides genus which is found in a majority of the US. The cold temperature is also a limiting factor of the geographic regions of where these diseases are found. In the US the primary vector is Culcoides sonorensis. Although other species of the Culcoides genus are known to be able to transmit these viruses this specific species is the most prominent. Cold weather associated with the distribution of the disease also contributes to its impact on wildlife. These late summer and early winter months are vital for deer. This is generally when female deer give birth in the summer and breed in the early winter. Currently there is no plan for vector control. The change in land cover has been shown to increase habitat for these vectors. Evaluating habitat for vectors is vital in identifying sources for monitoring of the diseases. What are the differences in the statistics courses taught in the Engineering College, the Psychology or Sociology Departments in the Liberal Arts College, and the College of Business? The biggest difference is the examples used. The course content is basically the same. In the College of Business we are interested in such things as profits, hours worked, and wages. Psychologists are interested in test scores, and engineers are interested in how many units are manufactured on a particular machine. However, all three are interested in what is a typical value and how much variation there is in the data. There may also be a difference in the level of mathematics required. An engineering statistics course usually requires calculus. Statistics courses in colleges of business and education usually teach the course at a more applied level. You should be able to handle the mathematics in this text if you have completed high school algebra. So why is statistics required in so many majors? The first reason is that numerical information is everywhere. Look in the newspapers (USA Today), news magazines ( Time, Newsweek, U.S. News and World Report), business magazines

Over time, one should see both the national and state indexes increase with the state party index lagging behind the national party index. While this is far from definitive, it supports the findings of some scholars who say that the increase in Republican Party competitiveness started at the national level and went to affect the competitiveness of electionsto lower level political offices. The Catholic denomination is the oldest branch of organized Christianity. Being a member of the Catholic church means being a devout follower of God. It means that you believe in the the death and resurrection of JesusChrist and accept him as your lord and savior. Catholics are a part of the Church that Christ established and entrusted to Saint Peter and his successors, the popes. I attended the 10 a.m. mass at Christ the King on July 12, 2015. The service was a little over an hour long and it was an immensely different and interesting experience. Music is and has always been a staple of Christian worship. The worship music at Christ the King was extremely traditional. All of the songs that were sung were traditional hymnals and the congregation seemed to know each hymn by heart. The lyrics were accompanied by an organ and each pew contained a worship book that contained the hymns as well as the gospel acclamations and creeds that accompanied them. The priest sang instead of speaking during the worship, reading of the holy scripture, and communion. In some instances the priest would sing something and the congregation... This act of deception which grants Hamlet vengeance over his old friends serves to foreshadow the revenge that Hamlet is to bring over King Claudius. It also predicts the death of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern in which a British Ambassador informs Denmark of after the murder scene in act 5 even though they actually died before the death scene in Denmark, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead (5.2.372). The poem is set in the Lake District of Wordsworth s youth, and embodies the ideals of the Romantic Era; that nature and human intuition have a kind of knowledge not found in books and formal education. When confronted as to why he spends his time at the lake, musing and contemplating, Wordsworth replies with what was to become a memorable moment in english literature; nature nurtures the mind in a unique way, with it s own wisdom, one which cannot be found in the pages of scholarly books. To stimulate his senses entirely, a man must just sit in the presence of nature. This was an idea found in the works of many romantic poets, who were thought to have a distrust in mankind, but found peace and knowledge in closeness with nature. Romantic poetry allowed us to see their world directly and much of romantic poetry invited the reader to identify the protagonists with the poets themselves. (Abrams) The metre of this poem is in iambic tetrameter, which places emphasis on the power of nature. For example, in the first line, the words old and stone are emphasised by the metre, pointing towards the poets belief in the power and importance of nature. Again, in the third stanza, the metre points towards moth and earth , furthering the pointed use of nature as a genre. it has been common in critical writing since the romantic period to equate the loosening of specifically metrical restrictions ... This type of cataractis different from most cataracts, since congenital cataracts is present in an individual since birth, meaning that it was most likely inherited from the parents. For instance, in the informational text, Professor Elizabeth Dunn conducted a research in 2008. She gave cash to two groups of students. She told one group to spend cash on themselves and the other to spend it on someone else. Which group turned out out be happier? The group that spent the money on others. (Scope Magazine pg 26) According to the research, it is clear that spending money unselfishly brings joy to oneself, but does the character Jerry from, President Cleveland, Where Are You? agree with the central idea of Can Money Buy Happiness? Jerry would probably have disagreed with the central idea. First of all, Jerry spent the money to bring Armand, his older brother, to a dance. This could be confirmed in the text when Armand was dressed up in a suit with new shoes when before he only had some old shoes that were falling apart. Where he got the suit? It was from Jerry. I needed that five dollars it was an emergency (Comier pg 29) Jerry spent the five dollars on Armand, although Jerry feels regretful. Jerry spent money on Armand for love, even though he never agreed with love. I was glad I had never become involved with love love that bought desperation to your eyes, that caused you to write letters you did not plan to send. (Comier pg 28) Jerry also muttered Love when he saw Armand, Jerry obviously regretted his decision but at the same time he thought he would feel happy. Secondly, Jerry may have not felt happy because he was forced to spend the money unselfishly. Think about it, he never felt like giving the money to Armand for the cause of love but it felt he forced himself to give him the money, or like someone gave him a command to do it. This is implied when Armand thought Jerry a lesson. It s all right, he (Armand) said gently. Maybe you learned something. The fundamental ideas behind the Free Exercise Clause and the Establishment Clause are both involved in the literature of this statement. Both of these clauses support the separation of government involvement in religious affairs. Nonetheless, the Establishment Clause is distinct from the former because it specifically requires a degree of separation between church and state (Rossum, 281). The last century has seen a great deal of governmental interaction with religious groups and practices. As a result, the use of litigation to settle these disputes has been extremely prevalent. Perhaps, the first trial to outline the Establishment Clause was Everson v. Board of Education. The court ruled in a 5 4 decision upholding a New Jersey program that covered the cost of bus transportation for students attending private schools (Rossum, 281). Although the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the religious students, it unanimously agreed that the Establishment Clause was designed to serve as a separating force between church and state. Justice Black s subsequent statement regarding the court s decision was significant considering its implications from that point forward. His statement suggested that the Establishment Clause imposes equally strict restrictions on state and federal actions regarding religious affairs. Moreover, it stated that the ... Twisting of bowel commonly occurs along the mesenteric axis , resulting in venous obstruction and eventually arterial compromise. Redundancy and non fixation of bowel are essential to form any type of volvulus. The ascending and descending segments of the colon are not mobile , but the sigmoid colon, caecum, and transverse colon are not fixed within the peritoneum, tethered by their mesentery. This mobility contributes volvulus to occur at these locations. Thirty three to thirty five percent of patients with volvulus of the transverse colon appear to have had a history of chronic constipation which is either idiopathic or secondary to autonomic dysfunction (5) . I believe that the people of Sighet, including Eliezer s family, ignore and overlook these things because they constantly reassure themselves that they are safe by saying we even thought ourselves rather well off; we were entirely self contained. Although things are grim, the Jews of Sighet hold on to false hope that they will be saved soon, And in doing so, they conjure up excuses to the warnings of people like Moshe and tell one another that he has gone mad. They refuse to open their eyes to see what is down the road to better prepare themselves. 2. As previously noted, Friedman used logos, or claims of fact, to support and further his argument. He factually summarized the Trans Pacific Partnership, the North American security envelope, and events of 9/11. He detailed Trump s actions, which have been reported repeatedly by various news sources. For example, various media outlets reported that Trump made disparaging remarks about Judge Robart, calling him a so called judge and labeling his ruling ridiculous (Heisig, Trump s comments on judiciary ). Furthermore, his analogies and cause effect relationships evoked cognitive, rational responses. For example, when arguing that the results of Trump s wall to keep out Mexican immigrants would cause problems for U.S. companies doing business in and with Mexico, he compared it to tighter security at the U.S. Mexican border during 9/11, which caused U.S. companies like Ford to shut down assembly lines because their supply chain extends to Mexico. CHARCOAL SKETCH Most artists will sketch a charcoal outline on the prepared cloth before application of black dye (kasimi). Some artists use charred tamarind twigs to draw, while others use commercially manufactured charcoal or lead pencils. The following steps are taken to prepare tamarind twigs (chinta boggo) for sketching: * Dried twigs that have fallen around the tree are gathered and broken to a length of 3 7 inches. * To char the twigs, a shallow circular pit is scooped out in dry soil and a heap of sand is kept besides the pit. * The dry twigs are piled up to a height of 2 3 inches above the ground level. Some newspaper is also placed among the twigs to facilitate burning. The twigs and paper is set on fire. * When the flame dies down, sand is thrown over the twigs, and they are set to cool in the pit for 3 4 hours. * This slow cooling makes the pencils tough. The ash coloured twigs are then unearthed, rolled between one?s fingers to remove greyish bark until black color is revealed. * The pencils so prepared can be stored until further use (do not remove bark before charring; else the twigs will turn to ash). Materials Lab Report MECH3362: Materials II Laboratory Report Brittle Rupture of Glass Plates Guirguis Rezk SID 199991603 Objectives: п‚· п‚· To understand mechanisms of the fracture of brittle materials (in this case, glass) To recognize the variations in deformation and failure mechanisms which occur with a difference in flaw size, (i.e. between scratched and unscratched samples) Defining flaw sizes in glass plates by employing linear elastic fracture mechanics (LEFM) Utilizing the Weibull statistics approach in predicting probable failure in brittle materials. п‚· п‚· Testing Procedure: 1. The thickness (t) and width (w) of the rectangular glass sample is measured. The first glass slide is placed in the Instron 3 point bending apparatus with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This tension is produced by the bending moment of the load. For this reason the plates were placed with scratches facing downwards so that the procedure could test the effect of flaw size on fracture stress. Otherwise the experiment would have probably shown little difference between scratched and unscratched samples. The scratched samples also showed consistent directions in that they were nearly always perpendicular, this was due to linkage of cracks. Whereas for unscratched glass, the crack will propagate according to the local shape and direction of the defect. The three point bending test is used for brittle materials only for two reasons. The first is because brittle materials cannot be tested with conventional uniaxial tension tests because of early failure at the grips. The second reason is that LEFM can only be applied in bending tests to brittle materials because yielding occurs around the same point as failure, so failure stresses can be used to calculate normal tensions in the beam using Пѓ = Mc/I. That is the stress versus strain diagrams remain nearly linear up until failure. Fracture toughness is the ability of a material to withstand brittle fracture in the presence of a crack or flaw. The equation as mentioned earlier is derived from linear elastic fracture mechanics and stipulates that crack length is inversely proportional to fracture stress. The ... I think that this photo became so popular and considered historic because it has been a symbol of our military s patriotism and valor America s strength, honor, and brotherhood. A strength that cannot be shaken, honor that cannot be abjured, and a brotherhood that cannot be broken. The battle for Iwo Jima was a bloody battle against the Japanese forces. The island took the heaviest and longest bombardment compared to any battles in the Pacific during the war ( Battle for Iwo Jima, 1945 , 1960). It is estimated that the average child watches from three to five hours of television a day! Listening to music is also a time consuming pastime among children. With all of that exposure, one might pose the question, How can seeing so much violence on television and video games and hearing about violence in in music affect a child s behavior? Obviously these media have a big influence on childrens behavior: we can see it in the way they attempt to emulate their favorite rock stars by dressing in a similar style and the way children play games, imitating their favorite cartoon personalities or super ... Most people would agree that they are not very good role models and that the lyrics that they write promoting shooting policeman and raping women can have a negative affect on children s behavior. However, there are examples of music having a positive influence on kids are also prevalent. The girl rap group Salt N Pepa, who are often categorized according to their sexual image, also project an image of feminine strength. Cheryl James, a.k.a Salt, said, We get compliments from women like, You inspired me to get out of an abusive relationship. It makes me feel good about what I do (AP Nov. 5). There is also some good examples of music, which brings a more positive feeling to the group. An example of this can be heard in the animaniacs compact disk. Television Television is especially influential on the children of today. Thirty years ago, not every home had a television; they were considered a luxury that only the rich could afford. Now, most households have two televisions and children watch them incessantly. Many children s programs are extremely violent and a child can learn violent behavior from watching these programs. Simultaneously, individuals struggle and deject to seek objective and accurate truth of themselves, namely engage in selfassessing (Sedikides, 1993). Comparing Joy Luck Club And The Woman Warrior Comparing The Joy Luck Club and The Woman Warrior Amy Tan s immensely popular novel, The Joy Luck Club explores the issues faced by first and second generation Chinese immigrants, particularly mothers and daughters. Although Tan s book is a work of fiction, many of the struggles it describes are echoed in Maxine Hong Kingston s autobiographical work, The Woman Warrior: Memoirs of a Girlhood Among Ghosts. The pairs of mothers and daughters in both of these books find themselves separated along both cultural and generational lines. This anecdote sets the stage for conflict between the Chinese mothers and their American daughters. The issue of the language barrier is a constant theme in both The Joy Luck Club and The Woman Warrior. In the immigrant narrative, English plays a major role in assimilating into the new world. For Tan, the struggle between Chinese and English haunts both her real life and her fiction. Tan herself stopped speaking Chinese at age five, though she has never lost her first language entirely (Amy). Her mother, Daisy, however, speaks in a combination [...] of English and Mandarin (Huntley 3). Tan was taunted in grade school for her mother s heavy Shanghai accent (Huntley 3). Because Daisy never became fluent in English, the linguistic friction merely escalated between the two women (Amy). Tan expresses this tension in her novel when the fictional Jing mei admits that she has trouble understanding her mother s meaning, and empathizes with her aunties who see daughters who grow impatient when their mothers talk in Chinese, who think they are stupid when they explain things in fractured English (Tan 40 1). The stresses of a bilingual relationship are further explored when Lena St. Clair finds herself acting as translator between her Chinese mother and English Irish father, who each refuse to learn the other s language, placing their daughter in the cultural crossfire (Tan ... • 46. Toni Morrison Literary Devices The postmodernist period was a period in literary period where writers used their voices to express how they felt about what was going on in the world around them. During the postmodern period there was many events going on that would cause an author to feel a certain way and feel the need to express themselves. An event that could make an author feel the need to express themselves during this period is the Civil Rights Movement. As a result of the Civil Rights Movement, a color fence, or barrier of sorts between African Americans and white people, was created based on opportunity and privilege. In an analysis of Toni Morrison s short stories Sweetness , The Color Fetish , and The Work You Do, The Person You Are , one can see how the postmodernist elements of ironyand allusions are demonstrated. Morrison uses literary devices to her advantage when she is trying to explain her argument and create an overall tone and feeling of her writing. The postmodern period was shaped by its use of literary devices to prove a point and open our eyes to the world they were seeing, irony was just one of the devices Morrison used specifically. Parody, irony, and narrative instability often inform the tone. (CollegeBoard, Slide. 31). The authors found a way to express themselves through their use of literary devices is their way of expressing their tone and using diction to keep their audience interested. Also, when they use devices such as irony it can provide a picture for the audience making them create a connection to the time period. Toni Morrison s use of irony is evident throughout her works but one was eye catching was, It s not my fault. So you can t blame me. (Sweetness, para. 1). This is a very ironic statement because Lula Ann s mother is discriminating against her for how black she is based on the pure fact that her color is going to make her an outcast in society. This was the beginning for Lula Ann because she wouldn t have the same opportunity to pass as a white person and receive the same opportunity granted to those of that skin color. Directly supporting the idea of the color barrier and the extent people would go to just to try and receive the opportunities. As a postmodern author, you cannot ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We have never been satisfied with simply keeping within the law, but have constantly sought to act that we may fully observe the professional code, and so maintain the credit and representation which has been handed down to us from our predecessors in the firm. quot; A significant bill in congress was the Banking Act of 1933, a.k.a. • 48. The Four Major Components Of Carbohydrates All living substance is made up of tiny microscopic particles called atoms. When two atoms conjoin and act as a working functioning group, that is called a molecule. There are four major elements of life that an atom can be made of, and those special elements are; carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen. All mushed together their first letters form the scientific term C H O N. Different atoms make up different molecules for example, a water molecule is made up of an oxygenatomand a hydrogen atom. Carbohydrates, Lipids, Proteins, and Nucleic Acids are the four major molecules. These major four can be found in all sorts of foods and mostly all living things. The first major molecule is the carbohydrates, more commonly referred to as carbs. A single carbohydrateis made up of the elements carbon, hydrogen, and nitrogen. This includes the elements C H O prior to the main elements C H O N. The main building blocks for a carbohydrate molecule consists of sugars (Saccharides). The three Saccharides that make up carbohydrates are; Monosaccharides, Disaccharides, and Polysaccharides. These wondrous molecules can benefit us as humans in great ways. Carbohydrates are one of the best sources of natural energy you can consume. For example, all plants use the sun s energy to convert CO2 into carbohydrates. These powerful molecules also provide structural support for cells, and can help out with the communication between two different cells. Carbohydrates can be found almost in all foods, ...
