Bandura Social Learning Theory
Social learning theory (SLT), developed by psychologist Albert Bandura in 1977, laid the framework
by which people learn by observing a set of behaviors believed to be acceptable or unacceptable
(Wulfert, 2016). To further understand SLT, this paper discusses the concepts and principles behind
Bandura s theory, reviews its contribution to human behaviors, critiques it, and considers the roles
social learning plays in diversity, as well as in equality in economic and social justice.
Social Learning Theory s Main Concepts and Principles SLT is grounded in the fact that humans
acquire behaviors throughout their lifetime by acquiring knowledge through observation and
modeling. People socially influence each other through their interactions, and typically change their
desirable behaviors due to positive or negative outcomes observed (Nabavi, 2012). Bandura notes the
fundamental elements of SLT include interaction of both individuals and situations. Learning the
effects of SLT from observing others behaviors and situations can directly influence a person s choice,
as both parts are a result of the other (Hanna, Crittenden, Crittenden, 2013). There are three main
principles Bandura proposed for SLT: a person s ability to learn through observation, self regulation,
and reciprocal determinism. People can learn new behavior through observation; this can be acquired
through direct or indirect observation (Grusec, 1992). This can be seen in Bandura s Bobo doll
experiment, in

CHAPTER FOUR
RESULT AND DISCUSSION
Chapter three has displayed the methodology that is going to be adopted with these research works
which include the review of earlier research materials and analysing the effect of some projects that
has been carried out in other areas that has gone through the related conditions. This chapter shows the
breakdown of the data gathered in line with this research work; this information will be critically
analysed using the BREEAM as the standard for the analysis.
RESULT
Results obtained from the previous researchers showed that there is evidence of shrinkage mostly at
the developed cities. However, all the research work shows that the major challenge to shrinking cities
is how to regenerate and maintain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The discussions as stated in chapter three was structured in as follows:
OBSERVABLE EFFECT OF REGENERATION PROCESS ON THE ECONOMY
The Scottish Government has set up suitable programmes to create a sustainable environment through
the Sustainable Glasgow initiative. This initiative is set up to deliver a project programme that the
main plan is to develop the economy by making direct contact with the city, people and businesses to
open up more investments and help tackle possible challenges. This development is believed to be the
factor to the major drive to improvement of Glasgow s future economy, environment and its social
aspect (Glasgow.gov.uk, 2014a).
Sustainable development as defined by the Brundtland Report (WCED, 1987) is the development that
meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their
own needs (Diesendorf, 1999). The initiative that involves the sustainable development of Glasgow is
set up to improve the living standard of the future generation by setting up a system of development at
city level. This will take on both the private and public interests to show the breadth and scale of the
issues faced in a flexible business environment. Using the principle of sustainable development to
engage a broad partnership base, Glasgow hopes to understand and influence all of the key social,
economic and environmental factors supporting a

Analysis of Before the Rain Essay
Analysis of Before the Rain Before the Rain, filmed on location in the Republic of Macedonia and in
London is a trilogy that focuses on the conflict between Muslims and Orthodox Christians in the
Balkans. The three chapters of the trilogy are Words, Faces and Pictures. Director Milcho Manchevski
states; Before the Rain, refers to the feeling of heavy expectation, when the skies are pregnant with the
possibility of an outburst, when people are silent, waiting for a tragedy of cleansing (1). The movie is
a circle in itself, showing the reoccurring cycles of violence and hate. In the first chapter, Words, the
audience is introduced to Kirkil, a Macedonian Monk who has taken a vow of ... Show more content

The construction of Manchevski s story is intended to demonstrate the futility of ancient hatreds.
There are a few moments in the film in which hatred of others is greater than love of one s own.
Imagine a culture where a man would rather kill his daughter than allow her to love a man from
another culture, and one will have an idea of the depth of bitterness in this film, the insane lengths to
which men can be driven by belief and prejudice ( Ebert 3). Mise en scene is a French term roughly
translated as what is put into the Scene. Before the Rain, uses examples of mise en scene through out
the movie. Each of the three chapters is opened with a plane flying across a blue sky. The purpose to
incorporate the plane in each part is used by Manchevski to show a sense of escape. In the third
chapter, the plane Aleksander is on lands in Macedonia. This symbolizes Aleksander s desire to be
home, while the other citizens of Albania and Macedonia would rather escape by flying away. The
deliberate use of the sky in each chapter of the movie is used by Manchevski to show the heavy
expectation... when the people are silent, waiting for a tragedy of cleansing (Manchevski 1). Kirkil,
Anne and Aleksander all are filmed vomiting, implying that the realization of violence amongst people
is nauseating to them. Often children are shown with guns, and in one scene a gun is taken from a
child and given to a retard,

Benefits Of Homework In School
Imagine being a student at EJMHS having college classes to be attractive to other colleges. These
classes take up students after school time. For students to do all of their homework, and study for tests
and quizzes is difficult because they have no time. There is a pressure for students to take upper level
classes and that means more homework and not enough time to work on all of it. This problem is
grievous. As a student, can say that I have times where I struggle with the amount of homework that
given each day, It is a very lamentable feeling when this happens EJMHS must add an EDP to the
school schedules to prevent stress, create study time, and provide family time.
To begin, stress is a primary reason why EJMHS must add an EDP to all class schedules, having too
much homework and not having any time to do any of it in school is causing students stress. In fact,
they actually found that 49 percent of students reported feeling a great deal of stress on a daily basis,
and 26 percent stated that they had been diagnosed with depression because of it. With this being said,
EJMHS must add an EDP. Along with that, students are expected to obtain a quality night of sleep
which is 8 hours. As a student I, do not obtain a full 8 hours of sleep.Students are in their bedroom
doing homework up to 2 hours at a time, in fact, at least once a week, I witness students who fall
asleep in class. Students do not sleep at night because they are up doing homework. Because of this,

Who Is The Giver Intelligent
People all over the world wish for a peaceful society, and while there is nothing wrong with this, be
careful what you wish for. A perfect society is highly unattainable and Lois Lowry s novel The Giver
depicts that. In the novel, the protagonist, Jonas, lives in a community of sameness where people do
not know what emotions are and cannot comprehend a life of vibrance, but he tries to change that.
Jonas has a very dynamic portrayal due to specific events and minor charaters.
In the beginning he is very obedient and intelligent. he rarely gets in trouble and was only chatised
twice in his life. Once for taking an apple home and another time for joking about release. He believes
in his community and follows all rules without question or concern. One can infer that Jonas is
intelligent because he is very careful about his word choice. He often corrects his friend Asher s
precision of language, and when he is anxious about the upcoming Ceremony of Twelve he uses the
word apprehesive rather than frightened. At the Ceremony, the Cheif Elder comments on Jonas s
intelligence when explaining why Jonas was selected to be the new Receiver of Memory. ... Show

As Jonas recieves memories from the Giver he begins to see beyond. He comprehends colours which
cause him to think of choice. He wonders what it would be like to choose the colour of one s tunic or
one s own job. He watches the release of a newborn with the Giver, a process performed by his father.
After witnessing the footage he discovers that release means death. The next day, Jonas s father tells
the family that Gabe, a newborn living with them, is scheduled for release. This is the last force that

Reconstruction Of Post Disaster Reconstruction Projects
Post disaster reconstruction projects are influenced by administrative, political, social, economic, and
cultural settings. The likelihood of success of such projects diminishes if and when systematic
recovery plans are absent and the project cost and time overruns. Inadequate relevant policies and
legal systems and domination from economically or politically powerful groups/persons in planning
and decision making processes further weaken the reconstruction process. Furthermore, ignoring the
communication and coordination among stakeholders, boosting unsustainable construction,
prioritizing corruption, and hindering transparency lead such projects to a complete failure.
Conventional reconstruction focuses mostly on technical or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Sustainable reconstruction offers the opportunity to improve the quality of infrastructures, the
environment and living conditions in disaster affected regions. To improve the outcomes of
reconstruction, efforts are needed from various angles, ranging from legislation and policy making,
capacity building of local communities to updating building codes and enhanced relevant political
support. A public private partnership synergizes the advantages of both public and private sectors in
long term comprehensive partnerships. According to a number of studies, public private partnership
projects have been performed on time and within budget with enhanced sustainability than
traditionally procured projects. Adding people in the public private partnership projects can achieve
better value for money and sustainable infrastructure reconstruction. People, in this context, are the
major stakeholders in reconstruction that include local communities, academia, professional groups
and media. A partnership among public sector, private sector, and people will play an important role in
improving the outcomes from post disaster reconstruction projects. Local communities should be
involved from the very beginning in post disaster planning phase as they can be a source of invaluable
local history, culture and customs, as well as their involvement will shade light in the community s
needs and requirements in reconstruction projects. In addition, through such

Application Of A Distributed Agricultural Sensor Network
Abstract As the world s population continues to grow, new agricultural technologies will be needed to
keep up with the growing demand. To accomplish this, agricultural systems must increase production
while at the same time more effectively utilizing and conserving the resources that go into that
production. One possible solution is the collection and analysis of environmental data. IoT sensor
networks can cheaply provide distributed data that can be used to improve plant health, increase
harvest yields, and decrease waste. The primary focus of this project will be to prototype a distributed
agricultural sensor network that will be able to monitor the environment, network and analyze the data
on the cloud, and finally provide feedback to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is an active area of IoT research and will be the primary focus of this project. If data can be
effectively gathered, networked, and analyzed, then that data can then be used to impart real and
significant change on the environment. For agricultural systems this will result in improved plant
health, increased harvest yields, and decreased waste. A. Background One of the most utilized and
standardized IoT stacks is the IEEE 802.11.4, 6LoWPAN, RPL, and CoAP stack. The IoT stack layers
are similar to OSI and they share many of the same abstraction layer divisions. These similarities
assist with the interoperability of IoT protocols with those of the Internet. The IEEE802.15.4 protocol
defines the physical and link layers of stack. These layers define how data is modulated onto the
channel, how the channel is shared between multiple users, as well as the low level packet checks and
retransmissions. IEEE802.15.4 operates in the 2.4GHz ISM band using Quadrature Phase Shift
Keying with additional Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum encoding. This allows the radio to better
reject noise and other interference. IEEE802.15.4 utilizes 16, 5MHz channels in order to generate a
data throughput of 250kbps. The maximum payload size is 127 Bytes [1]. Compared to WiFi, the data
rate and maximum packet size is significantly less. These characteristics are the result of the limited

BALAENOPTEROIDS (CETACEA, MYSTICETI): IMPLICATIONS ON FOSSIL CETACEAN
PALEOECOLOGY AND BIOLOGY
KERR, Tyler J., University of Wyoming, Laramie, WY, United States, 82071
BACKGROUND
Whales (Cetacea) are unique among mammals in that they possess exceptionally dense,
pachyosteosclerotic tympanic bullae1. Along the margin of the bulla is a highly mineralized,
extremely dense wall of bone called the involucrum that serves as a special adaptation to life in the sea
and as a means to facilitate sound reception and directionality underwater2,3,4. Moreover, this
cetacean synapomorphy plays an important role in distinguishing its members from the ancestral
terrestrial artiodactyls from which whales diverged5. When cut into cross sections, the involucral
region of the tympanic bullae in many mysticete (baleen whale) lineages reveals three easily
distinguishable zones of concentric laminar growth. Here we hypothesize that these three distinct
zones identified along the length of the tympanic bullae are capable of recording life history events
during early development, when the cetacean tympanoperiotic region is known to be rapidly
ossifying6. We propose that the innermost zone (1) represents rapid in utero growth, the intermediary
zone (2) represents rapid birth and postnatal development, and the outermost zone (3), markedly
thinner, represents slower, more lamellar development from weaning on through adulthood.

Multicultural Education Essay
Multicultural Education
The inclusion of multiculturalism into schools has become an increasingly hot topic as of late. Being a
future teacher I have taken a natural interest in the topic as well. It seems that most of the push to
incorporate the multicultural issue into the school system has been a reaction to the thought that the
American melting pot metaphor is on the decline. Knowing that the demographics of the United States
is changing continuously, the main issue about the inclusion of multiculturalism is not whether to
place it into the schools, but rather how to position this controversial topic into the curriculum. Many
people think that the incorporation of multiculturalism must begin with the teacher education ... Show

18). Glazer goes on to say that the push for an inclusive system came from the growing number of
black students and black educators in the white school system, where white educators adopted a more
sympathetic attitude towards the idea (Munroe, 2000, p. 19). A recent study by Anita Bohn
documented that the concern of multiculturalism is on the decline among both teachers and
administrators (Sleeter, 2000,p. 156). Bohn stated that these are, ...early warning signs that the
multicultural education reform movement is in peril, (Sleeter, 2000, p. 156). When trying to
understand all of this information, one must understand that multicultural education is not a program
(Sleeter, 2000, p. 156). It is not and cannot be addressed sufficiently by any set of state or national
standards, or by any textbook series, so that it will no longer require our sustained attention as
educators. Multicultural education is a critical forum for reforming schools in ways that support
pluralism and equity, (Sleeter, 2000, p. 157). Basically, these authors are telling us that this subject is
not taken seriously by all, but the real difficulty lies in trying to create guidelines for multicultural
education s incorporation.
Julie Kailin brings about another historical aspect of multicultural education in her article that is how

Prevalence of Obesity in Children Introduced in the...
Prevalence of Obesity in Children Introduced in the Elementary School Prevalence of obesity in the
children introduced in Elementary School is an article published by Journal of Nursing discussing
childhood obesity in elementary schools. Obesity is defined as excessive accumulation of body fat
(deWit O Neill, 2014). The article is based on studies performed in Brazilian communities. Topics of
the different studies consisted of private school setting, lower income families in different locations,
different child age groups and socioeconomic differences. The first study consisted of children in
private school settings. The obesity rate in the public school was 11.3% and 27.0% in girls and 13.0%
in boys (Rocha, 2013). The middle and high socioeconomic status of the children was not a factor to
why the children would or would not be overweight (Rocha, 2013). It would be assumed that because
children of higher socioeconomic status who would see a pediatrician on a regular basis would not be
overweight. The second study was performed on kindergarten students. Weight for the age and height
was used in this study. It was decided that females showed higher concentration to males (Rocha,
2013). The third study was conducted on students from ages of six to nine. This study had the lowest
rate of obesity 3.6% (Rocha, 2013). The founding of this study weighed more on the aspect to what
mother or parent was feeding this population of the study (Rocha2013). The children

Manderley. In one day, Mr. de Winter goes to Monte Carlo, he meets a quiet young woman and he

The first similarity is Manderley house, at the beginning of the story and the film, the narrator
describes Manderley it is a secret and silent house also she images of a big house when anybody
thought they have lost it and she talks about the details such as the stony surface cover with grass and
weeds. I see this accurate description in the movie. The second similarity is Mrs. de Winter reactions.
There are several situations happen whether joy, sadness or debate Mrs. de Winter s reaction is similar
to film and novel such as when she meets Maxim she feels so happy together. Moreover, she lacks
confidence and she is insecure if Maxim loves Rebecca more than her. The last similarity is the
personality of housekeeper Mrs. Danvers, there is a great similarity between Mrs. Danvers characters
in the novel and the film. She is the head housekeeper and Mrs. Danvers is Rebecca s maid. She hates
the new wife also she does not want Maxim to marry any woman after Rebecca so she is like a devil
she makes her do something her husband does not like such as when she convinces her to wear the
same dress that Rebecca has already worn it before

Egoism And Egoism In Peter Parker s Spider Man
The stimulus that I have chosen for this internal assessment is a scene from the movie, Spider Man 2.
Peter Parker struggles to find a balance between his Spider man life and his life as a citizen; his grades
are steadily declining at university, he gets fired from his job and cannot find any time for his friends.
In the scene that I selected, Parker realizes that he has a choice, that there are no obligations for him to
climb walls and fight crime for a safer environment. He then decides to throw his Spider Man costume
in a bin and forget about his super hero life, in order to focus on his own life. As a result, his life as an
individual is thriving, his grades at university are getting better, and he doesn t have to fight crime
anymore, which offers him more time for his beloved ones and personal ambitions.
150 words Should an individual act for his own benefit? Or should he act for the sake of others? In
ethics it is assumed that right actions demand an individual to act for the sake of others, this concept is
known as altruism. However this view is challenged by the concept of egoism: the idea of putting our
own interests to benefit ourselves before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is clear that an unjust man who has possession of the ring would act egoistically. But what about the
righteous man? Since he would not have any consequences for what he does, he does not feel fear, in
that case why would he act altruistically? According to Glaucon, he would not act altruistically, as
there are no consequences to his actions. I personally think that it depends on a lot of factors and the
person himself. For example a priest that has acted altruistically throughout his life will probably act
altruistically even while he possesses the ring of Gyges. He probably does not want to act egoistically
and the way he was brought up and educated will influences the ethics of choices he will

Uncertainty As A Necessary Property Of The Universe
Uncertainty as a Necessary Property of the Universe
There is a value in being uncertain about certainty; the value is seen in stress reduction, both in
science/professional life as well as in day to day mundane life. The value also exists in the
perpetuation or the drive for innovation. The common knee jerk reaction to a presentation of
uncertainty is to hold fear or contempt, but after some more careful consideration, uncertainty appears
to be very important in nature. There are even ways to capitalize, or exploit, uncertainty for benefit.
In science or professional life, embracing uncertainty allows for loosened restrictions on modeling
(not to be confused with gross negligence; not referring to introduced uncertainties), higher level
induction via empirically determined boundary conditions, and boons in funding for research. The
mathematical model only needs to apply to a specific set of conditions. As a scientist, you need not
focus on a general model that accounts for all variables. Stresses involved when pressed for resources
are then reduced because the focus can be deliberately placed on only the variables you are exploring,
or validity of the model needs to be only with a specific set of conditions. The final model can yield
nonsense acceptably when used outside the intended conditions. Additionally, boundary conditions
can be identified leading to general evolution of systems. Sometimes boundary conditions lead you to
the relative stabilities of sets of solutions

Why Does Hysteria Occur In The 1800 s
Women have been accused of being hysterical for centuries. Hysteria is defined as a psychoneurotic
disorder characterized by violent emotional outbreaks, disturbances of sensory and motor functions,
and various abnormal effects due to autosuggestion. Hysteria is not a condition that is specific to only
females (Hysteria). Although it is more common among women, men can also become hysterical in
their lifetime. This idea was proposed in the 1800s by a French neurologists named Jean Martin
Charcot. Charcot believed that hysteria was not a sexual disease that was only in women, he
concluded that it was in fact an inherited nervous disorder that affected both sexes (Hysteria). Hysteria
is a legitimate issue that exists today through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Delightfully this seems to imply association with Jesus, the Lamb of God, and his righteousness. The
softness is associated with the gentleness and humbliness of the Savior. The lamb is next about such a
tender voice that voice that makes the vales rejoice. The speaker is simply asking the lamb, Dost thou
know who made thee? [2] The second stanza begins with the statement. Little Lamb I ll tell theek. [2.]
The speaker now provides the answer to the question. The answers is provided first vaguely through
association of names and characteristics. The tone of the prose is more excited in this stanza. The
speaker attribute the lamb with the Lamb of God, both are called by the same name.

The characteristics of The Lamb of God is meek and mild. The temperment of the little lamb would
also share these character traits. The speaker next relates himself, as a child, to this trait of innocence.
The Lamb of God was also a child, He is God incarnated, born of a virgin. The next line; We are

poem is then finished with the speaker telling the little lamb, Little Lamb God bless thee. In analysis
of this poem, we find the symbolic association the Little Lamb and Jesus Crist, The Lamb of God.

We all want to see pregnancy and sexual transmitted disease (STD) rates among adolescent become

Unfortunately, these programs do very little to stop the increasing rates, but now have only pushed
teens to continue in their sexual behaviors, along with denying them the tools to properly protect

Even though these two STDs are treatable with antibiotics, for the majority of people who contract
these infections do not experience any symptoms and it can go without treatment for many years. If
left untreated chlamydia and gonorrhea can leave the person with devastating consequences like
Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, infertility, and other health problems. HIV is another epidemic among
adolescents, so much so that young people ages 13 to 24 make up the 1 out of every 4 new HIV
infections each year (CDC). Young adults diagnosed with this infectious disease are forced to carry it
with them the rest of their lives because as of now it is incurable. HIV is a serious disease that if not
treated properly can cause the person to become extremely ill and can even cause death. Herpes is not
far behind HIV, with one in every five adolescent and adults become infected and two thirds of that
number are young adults under the age of 25 (Teen Help). This STD is also incurable and secretly
lives in the body, leaving the person to only guess when an outbreak will happen. Because many
adolescents underestimate their infection risk and they have mistaken ideas about what protect them
from STDs and what does not, (Brückner 277) many do not take the proper precautions necessary to
protect themselves. This leaves [o]ne third of all sexually active young people [to] become infected

Birds Are Very Successful Essay
Birds are a group of animal which consist of many species, all of which play various roles in several
ecological niches. Birds are considered biologically successful due in fact to the number of species
present. Currently, there are approximately 10,000 species of birds, which is almost double the amount
of species of mammals or amphibians. The differences which separate birds from mammals and make
them more successful are the presence of large yolked eggs, which support the offspring until birth,
and the absence of lactation which allows for greater energy usage and efficiency. Birds have
developed these adaptations over the course of thousands of years. Additionally, birds are considered
biologically successful due to the fact that they are found on almost every continent on Earth.
Examples include several species of birds in the forests of North and South America and Asia, several
species of birds in the cities of Europe, and the flocks of the presence of ostriches and various other

These include body shape, presence of feathers, structure of the skeleton, structure of the limbs, make

when compared to other animals. Their anatomical mapping of their organs and muscles, show that
these are located nearest to the center of gravity, which provides better balance during flight. Also, the
presence and scheme of their feathers, which are contour, allow for the body to be covered tightly.
This makes it streamline and somewhat reduces the effect experienced by drag. Primary feathers are

The Dangers Of The College Faces Essay
Part 1 As another security examiner at Aim Higher College I was given the undertaking to decide the
main three dangers that the College faces. Consistently innovation is actualized in numerous
associations. This innovation may settle past vulnerabilities or even make new one. Programmers may
misuse this known powerlessness to access basic information or cause hurt in the system. This new
technology may fix previous vulnerabilities or even create new one. Hackers may exploit this known
vulnerability to gain access to critical data or cause harm in the network. The CVE give a rundown of
known vulnerabilities for as often as possible utilized programming. In the rundown, we can see
which new vulnerabilities have been found each year, and they make new dangers for Aim Higher
College. The main danger that ought to mull over is the likelihood of a powerlessness being misused

Compare And Contrast Dracula And The City Of Ember
The books Dracula and The City of Ember are two amazing for readers who like novels with suspense.
Many readers could argue that these books have nothing in common and show no relationship. Yes,
the books show opposition in some aspects but that is what makes them unique. Other readers can
agree on certain similarities between these books which reduces the spectrum of the difference that the
opposing readers see. Although readers can pinpoint similarities and differences in the books, Dracula
and The City of Ember have their own unique settings, the era they speak English in, and themes.

The themes of books play an important part on how the characters interact in a story. In Dracula one
of the main themes is the survival. Throughout the book the characters are trying to survive from
being either killed or being converted into vampires. The City of Ember also shows the theme of
survival, but the character aren t at risk from a certain entity that is out to kill them. The characters are
threatened by the upper class society, because they limit their chance for survival. Dracula and The
City of Ember also portray the theme of greed. Dracula wants to expand to drain more blood from
people and expand his curse among others. The mayor of The City of Ember displays greed by not
sharing the resources with his community so that they can sustain themselves. Although both
characters show greed, they each have a different motive. Dracula greed is to spread his disease and
harm others while the mayor is just greedy for his own survival. Both publications are one of a kind

Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets Analysis
Luc Beeson s massive $180 million science fiction spectacle, Valerian and the City of a Thousand
Planets, inspired from the favorite comics of his youth, is a gorgeous looking, borderline disaster of a
film. At times, the film feels epic, clever, and original. In other moments, especially in the film s final
30 minutes, everything devolves into laugh out loud ridiculousness and cringe worthy acting and
writing. Though never boring, even at 140 minutes on screen, whether dazzling to witness or stiltedly
awful to endure, you simply never know what is coming next.
Beeson s latest film earned that production budget largely through crowd sourcing and the
writer/director s own money. It has been reported that this is the most expensive ... Show more content

regeneration serves as the necessary ingredient for a peaceful, perfect lifestyle.
One particular day, the Pearls fall victim to an attack, which unceremoniously combusts their planet
and leads to a sudden and immediate genocide. A handful of Pearls, away from the planet, did survive
and though they have tried to replicate their inter dimensional world, there are things they need: An
energy pearl for replicating more marble sized pebbles, and the last remaining conductor, which has
just been recovered from a nasty villain and rests in the possession of our (not so) humble
protagonists.
Perhaps it should be mentioned that at this point, Beeson seems unclear on what exactly our
protagonists do for their jobs. DeHaan is a fine actor, but a poor choice to try and carry a two plus
hour science fiction adventure which is saddled with nebulous focus and immature scripting. His lack
of charisma in this role is jarring, as he opts for a weird 1990 s Keanu Reeves style affect to his voice,
and comes off as often smug or manipulative.
Opposite him, Delevingne equips herself well, though Beeson clearly has no idea how to write
dialogue that makes us believe that she could truly love this guy, or that

The As A Form Of Influence On European Art
In nineteenth century Europe, exoticism grew in popularity as a form of influence on European art.
Renown art historian Enrico Crispolti defines exoticism as the imitation of elements in alien cultures
that differ from native traditions. Exoticism carries its own spectrum of interpretation, in that certain
works of art can fall under or between two main categories: pure exoticism and transcultural
composing. Through the use of non Western elements in Western music, exoticism seeks to evoke a
group perceived as different, often by othering said group. Ralph P. Locke, former professor of
musicology at Eastman School of Music, views pure exoticism as a form of exoticism with the
purpose of representing an exotic subject as different from what is considered acceptable or
appropriate. Transcultural composing focuses on a hybrid of Western and non Western styles, and is
intended to pay a tribute to the music. There is no clear cut definition of musical exoticism, but rather
a window open to varied interpretations and opinions. Renowned for his operas, English composer
Benjamin Britten wrote Death in Venice which uses non Western elements to represent something as
other within the character of the protagonist, Aschenbach. On the spectrum of exoticism, Britten s
Death in Venice falls under the category of transcultural composing due to Britten s respectful use and
understanding of gamelan style music. Claude Debussy, one of the most influential French composers

Symbolism In Inherit The Wind
The play Inherit the wind by Jerome Lawrence and Robert Edwin Lee contains many abstract symbols
that give the story a timeless essence. We see these symbols through the ongoing conflict between
evolutionism and creationism. While exploring the conflict the reader gains insight into how exactly
ones right to think freely is forbidden through the town itself Heavenly Hillsboro . The idea that ones
right to think freely relates to another symbol, the golden dancer. Through the wooden play horse the
reader learns that nothing is as it seems and sometimes one must look beyond the horizon. The central
symbol, wind was generally used in and around the play that suggested the mood of chaos relating
predominantly to many of the relationships. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reader is first introduced to this concept by Drummond when he says, Bert, whenever you see
something bright, shining, perfect seeming all gold, with purple spots look behind the paint! And if it s
a lie show it up for what it really is! (110). The underlying message is that you should not put faith
into something because it appears to be great. This problem arose from the fact that the townspeople
thought that creationism was perfect. These beliefs were concrete until Drummond started to pick at
them. In a sense the beauty of the horse could be related to the outer shell while the core would be
evolutionism. In actuality creationism was this beautiful lie while evolutionism was the ugly truth.
This was applied to Brady because although at first it seemed that he was towering over everyone with
a built in spotlight in end it proved to be that Brady was nothing but a fraud. The idea of Brady being
powerful connects to the golden dancer because although the dancer appeared to have substance like
Brady in the end it only broke down. All in all this demonstrates that without the golden dancer Brady
s authority would not have been questioned resulting in no one questioning their

How Did Cesar Chavez Help Migrant Farm Workers
Throughout the era of the great depression, migrant farm workers were put at unfair labor. A man
named Cesar Chavez helped migrant farm workers by boycotting the fruit companies they worked for
and forming unions for them. The beginning of Chavez s life, striking and boycotting fruit companies,
and his new projects were the biggest impact in changing farm worker s lives. Cesar E. Chavez was
born in 1927, in Arizona. Chavez worked as a migrant farm worker when he was young. He has the
experience of working in the scorching hot weather. His family had lived with his grandmother, where
he learned all if his values, morals, and beliefs. As Chavez grew older, his father would teach him how
to be respectful, and how he should always stand up for what he believes in. His father lost their land
and was forced to work as migrant farm workers. After a month, the Chavez family moved away in
search of more farms. Cesar rarely went to school, and would never stay at one school for a long time.
Cesar dealt with poverty and racisms at a young age. Later, his father had got hurt in an accident and
was forced to leave school to support himself and his family (Valbuena1 3). ... Show more content on

Feminists vs. Playboy Playmates Essay
Feminists vs. Playboy Playmates
Naked women have been in the front of feminist s minds for several decades. Especially when they
are pictured in soft pornography magazine Playboy. Feminists for years have been yelling that
Playboy is harmful to both men and women. Males around the country have countered that there is
nothing wrong with their Playboy, it is merely a harmless vice. The problem I see with Playboy is not
that it demeans women or subjugates them, and its not that it leads to violence. The main problem is
that it fosters unrealistic images and expectation in men s minds about women. But since there is little
we can do about it now, we merely need to take that first step and recognize Playboy for what it ...

I interviewed one person on each side of this issue, to get the token opinion that is popular on their
side of the issue. On this side is Ursula, an extremely quotable quasi feminist who makes a strong case
for her side.[1] Ursula sums up the feminist argument by saying, Guys see the idealized sex goddess,
how can women compete? First and foremost feminists argue that the idea of a naked woman in a
magazine is degrading to that woman in particular and to women as a whole; Playboy and men s
magazines in general make women out to be sex objects (Burstyn, 42). Playboy objectifies women,
leaving out the human side (Burstyn, 43). Feminists also say that soft pornography leads to hard
pornography which can then lead to violent crimes against women. Rick Heibert in his article A hard
line against soft porn says that psychologists have found that viewing soft pornography inevitably
leads to harder material (par 4). Others would take this a step further and contend that the viewing of
violent pornography then leads to an increased likelihood of committing a violent sexual crime
(Cramer 202). These articles would present statistical research backing themselves up, more likely
than not the Meese Commission will make it in to any feminist critique.
Feminists present a third argument saying that magazines such as Playboy lead to depression or
anorexia in women, especially amongst impressionable young women (Chancer, 85). There is little
argument against teenagers

Young Palestinian Voices From East Jerusalem Essay
The War of 1967 concluded with Israeli control of Jordanian territories that included Palestinian
communities in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. In Young Palestinian Voices from East Jerusalem,
Road AbuZayyad claims how the Israeli government s influence and control in East Jerusalem
affected the lives of the Palestinians living in the region. In The Birth of Core Issues: The West Bank
and East Jerusalem Under Israeli Administration, Moshe Elad recounts how issues, predominantly
concerning the Arab and Jewish conflict, arose with the implementation of an Israeli Administration
after the War of 1967. The articles share how the Israeli control of East Jerusalem cultivated the
conflict, however, each article has a focus on different aspects of the Israeli government that created
the Arab and Jewish conflict. While Elad discusses how the Israeli Administration increased Arab
Israeli conflict, Abuzayyad focuses on how Israelization, the capture of territory and enforcement of
Jewish law, created these conflicts. Additionally, in this paper, I will summarize each of the articles
and evaluate them based on their organization, quality of evidence, and perspective. While AbuZayyad
effectively establishes his thesis through the use of relevant personal accounts, experiences, and
descriptions, Elad evaluates the administration through a historical perspective but fails to adequately
prove his thesis due to his lack of relevant evidence and convoluted structure.

Tattoos Are A Symbol Of Sexual And Bodily Freedom
The practice of tattooing has been used around the globe for ages, particularly in tribal societies.
However, there has been an increase in this type of body art in Western society over the last century,
regardless of its savage like connotations. Tattoos are viewed by many women as a symbol of control
over their bodies, which challenges their historically rooted dependence on men. In this paper, I will
argue that although tattoos are a symbol of sexual and bodily freedom for many women, men often
interpret this symbolism to mean not simply that women have freedom to make decisions about their
bodies, but that women will be promiscuous in their decision making. This interpretation affects
interactions and perpetuates stereotypes about tattoos on women s bodies. In Western society, research
shows that men are sensitive to a range of physical cues in women, such as a low waist to hip ratio,
larger breasts, effective cosmetics use, revealing clothing, and even wearing the color red signals
sexual receptivity (Mehta, Psychology Today). Tattoos are yet another physical cue. Men and women
realize the symbolism of sexual and bodily freedom that tattoos portray, but for some reason men
think tattooed women will be promiscuous in their decision making. I will begin by offering reasons
for this promiscuous stereotype s development in Western society, followed by its effects on male
female interactions and finally some insight on stereotype reinforcement. In Christine

Making Cars Lighter Cars Safer Cars
Making Cars Lighter Cars have been around for many years. The first car to move off its own power
was in 1769, and 1989 the average weight of a car was about 3,000 pounds. Overtime, cars have been
through many changes and improvements. Car makers are constantly in search of improving cars to be
better than the last. Can lighter cars be safer? Can the fuel economy benefit if the production of lighter
cars were to increase? And lastly, what are alternative composites car makers can invest in? Making
cars lighter will not only make them safer, but they will also greatly benefit the fuel economy. Even
though we may have the technology to build lighter and safer cars, the cost affects puts this change on
hold. Changing a cars build will increase the price on cars and car makers will lose buyers. So instead,
car makers will continue to build heavy, gas guzzling, killing machines. Just about since birth, we
have been passengers in a car. Then later down the years, we become the drivers. When you think
about it, we put ourselves in danger every time we get behind the wheel or just in for the ride. Imagine

Hamlet, Play and the Movie Essay examples
Hamlet is a tragic play, written by William Shakespeare between 1599 and 1602, but as years have
gone by, there have been made many movies produced in order to visually illustrate how the events of
the play occurred. This allows the film director s interpretation of Hamlet to have an effect on the
audience s understanding of the play, because they understand the play the same way as the director.
One of the most significant act and scene in the whole play is Act I Scene V. The film work of Hamlet

In movie version of Hamlet there is a lot of emphasis put into the feelings Hamlet has towards his

due to the fact that Hamlet s character is being given more internal conflict to overcome, which also
connects to the hypothesis that Gibson s Hamlet is stronger, both physically and mentally, in
comparison to the original Hamlet.
Also, Gibson s Hamlet being stronger shows the impact of the setting on the story of Hamlet, because
everyone cast appears either healthier or stronger than one would imagine them from Shakespeare s

Motherly Love In Toni Morrison s Beloved
Beloved by, Toni Morrison is a phenomenal book revolving a story of an ex slave women named
Sethe. Throughout Beloved, the audience is able to witness the idea of the trauma caused by, slavery.
Most importantly, the audience witnessed the power of motherly love and the hard decisions some
mothers have to make. Specifically, readers was able to see motherly love through the circumstances
of slavery. Especially, through the relationship between Sethe and her children. Sethe is a traumatized
ex slave and was forced to do many actions that were questionable throughout the story. However,
Sethe s actions were due to her strong motherly love. Sadly, it was due to slavery which forced her to
make questionable and harsh decisions in order for, the wellbeing of her children. Indisputably,
motherly love is different than any other love but, motherly love in the conditions of slavery is much
more unique. Throughout her time as a mother, she was forced to make choices that no typical mother
would ever do such as, killing her daughter, Beloved and attempting to kill the rest of her kids.
Despite potential critiques and her actions, Sethe s motherly love is unusual than other forms of
motherly love because of the factor of slavery but, she is still a great mother because she protects her
children, makes sacrifices for them, and whatever she does is for them.
Sethe was very committed in keeping her children safe and protecting them from any sort of harm or

  • 2. Bandura Social Learning Theory Social learning theory (SLT), developed by psychologist Albert Bandura in 1977, laid the framework by which people learn by observing a set of behaviors believed to be acceptable or unacceptable (Wulfert, 2016). To further understand SLT, this paper discusses the concepts and principles behind Bandura s theory, reviews its contribution to human behaviors, critiques it, and considers the roles social learning plays in diversity, as well as in equality in economic and social justice. Social Learning Theory s Main Concepts and Principles SLT is grounded in the fact that humans acquire behaviors throughout their lifetime by acquiring knowledge through observation and modeling. People socially influence each other through their interactions, and typically change their desirable behaviors due to positive or negative outcomes observed (Nabavi, 2012). Bandura notes the fundamental elements of SLT include interaction of both individuals and situations. Learning the effects of SLT from observing others behaviors and situations can directly influence a person s choice, as both parts are a result of the other (Hanna, Crittenden, Crittenden, 2013). There are three main principles Bandura proposed for SLT: a person s ability to learn through observation, self regulation, and reciprocal determinism. Analysis of Before the Rain Essay Analysis of Before the Rain Before the Rain, filmed on location in the Republic of Macedonia and in London is a trilogy that focuses on the conflict between Muslims and Orthodox Christians in the Balkans. The three chapters of the trilogy are Words, Faces and Pictures. Director Milcho Manchevski states; Before the Rain, refers to the feeling of heavy expectation, when the skies are pregnant with the possibility of an outburst, when people are silent, waiting for a tragedy of cleansing (1). The movie is a circle in itself, showing the reoccurring cycles of violence and hate. In the first chapter, Words, the audience is introduced to Kirkil, a Macedonian Monk who has taken a vow of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The construction of Manchevski s story is intended to demonstrate the futility of ancient hatreds. There are a few moments in the film in which hatred of others is greater than love of one s own. Imagine a culture where a man would rather kill his daughter than allow her to love a man from another culture, and one will have an idea of the depth of bitterness in this film, the insane lengths to which men can be driven by belief and prejudice ( Ebert 3). Mise en scene is a French term roughly translated as what is put into the Scene. Before the Rain, uses examples of mise en scene through out the movie. Each of the three chapters is opened with a plane flying across a blue sky. The purpose to incorporate the plane in each part is used by Manchevski to show a sense of escape. In the third chapter, the plane Aleksander is on lands in Macedonia. This symbolizes Aleksander s desire to be home, while the other citizens of Albania and Macedonia would rather escape by flying away. • 5. Benefits Of Homework In School Imagine being a student at EJMHS having college classes to be attractive to other colleges. These classes take up students after school time. For students to do all of their homework, and study for tests and quizzes is difficult because they have no time. There is a pressure for students to take upper level classes and that means more homework and not enough time to work on all of it. This problem is grievous. As a student, can say that I have times where I struggle with the amount of homework that given each day, It is a very lamentable feeling when this happens EJMHS must add an EDP to the school schedules to prevent stress, create study time, and provide family time. To begin, stress is a primary reason why EJMHS must add an EDP to all class schedules, having too much homework and not having any time to do any of it in school is causing students stress. In fact, they actually found that 49 percent of students reported feeling a great deal of stress on a daily basis, and 26 percent stated that they had been diagnosed with depression because of it. With this being said, EJMHS must add an EDP. Along with that, students are expected to obtain a quality night of sleep which is 8 hours. As a student I, do not obtain a full 8 hours of sleep.Students are in their bedroom doing homework up to 2 hours at a time, in fact, at least once a week, I witness students who fall asleep in class. A perfect society is highly unattainable and Lois Lowry s novel The Giver depicts that. In the novel, the protagonist, Jonas, lives in a community of sameness where people do not know what emotions are and cannot comprehend a life of vibrance, but he tries to change that. Jonas has a very dynamic portrayal due to specific events and minor charaters. In the beginning he is very obedient and intelligent. he rarely gets in trouble and was only chatised twice in his life. Once for taking an apple home and another time for joking about release. He believes in his community and follows all rules without question or concern. One can infer that Jonas is intelligent because he is very careful about his word choice. To accomplish this, agricultural systems must increase production while at the same time more effectively utilizing and conserving the resources that go into that production. One possible solution is the collection and analysis of environmental data. IoT sensor networks can cheaply provide distributed data that can be used to improve plant health, increase harvest yields, and decrease waste. The primary focus of this project will be to prototype a distributed agricultural sensor network that will be able to monitor the environment, network and analyze the data on the cloud, and finally provide feedback to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is an active area of IoT research and will be the primary focus of this project. If data can be effectively gathered, networked, and analyzed, then that data can then be used to impart real and significant change on the environment. For agricultural systems this will result in improved plant health, increased harvest yields, and decreased waste. A. Background One of the most utilized and standardized IoT stacks is the IEEE 802.11.4, 6LoWPAN, RPL, and CoAP stack. The IoT stack layers are similar to OSI and they share many of the same abstraction layer divisions. These similarities assist with the interoperability of IoT protocols with those of the Internet. The IEEE802.15.4 protocol defines the physical and link layers of stack. These layers define how data is modulated onto the channel, how the channel is shared between multiple users, as well as the low level packet checks and retransmissions. IEEE802.15.4 operates in the 2.4GHz ISM band using Quadrature Phase Shift Keying with additional Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum encoding. This allows the radio to better reject noise and other interference. IEEE802.15.4 utilizes 16, 5MHz channels in order to generate a data throughput of 250kbps. The maximum payload size is 127 Bytes [1]. Compared to WiFi, the data rate and maximum packet size is significantly less. These characteristics are the result of the limited hardware used for ... DEVELOPMENT AND COMPOSITION OF MIDDLE EAR STRUCTURES OF BALAENOPTEROIDS (CETACEA, MYSTICETI): IMPLICATIONS ON FOSSIL CETACEAN PALEOECOLOGY AND BIOLOGY KERR, Tyler J., University of Wyoming, Laramie, WY, United States, 82071 BACKGROUND Whales (Cetacea) are unique among mammals in that they possess exceptionally dense, pachyosteosclerotic tympanic bullae1. Along the margin of the bulla is a highly mineralized, extremely dense wall of bone called the involucrum that serves as a special adaptation to life in the sea and as a means to facilitate sound reception and directionality underwater2,3,4. Moreover, this cetacean synapomorphy plays an important role in distinguishing its members from the ancestral terrestrial artiodactyls from which whales diverged5. When cut into cross sections, the involucral region of the tympanic bullae in many mysticete (baleen whale) lineages reveals three easily distinguishable zones of concentric laminar growth. Here we hypothesize that these three distinct zones identified along the length of the tympanic bullae are capable of recording life history events during early development, when the cetacean tympanoperiotic region is known to be rapidly ossifying6. We propose that the innermost zone (1) represents rapid in utero growth, the intermediary zone (2) represents rapid birth and postnatal development, and the outermost zone (3), markedly thinner, represents slower, more lamellar development from weaning on through adulthood. Being a future teacher I have taken a natural interest in the topic as well. It seems that most of the push to incorporate the multicultural issue into the school system has been a reaction to the thought that the American melting pot metaphor is on the decline. Knowing that the demographics of the United States is changing continuously, the main issue about the inclusion of multiculturalism is not whether to place it into the schools, but rather how to position this controversial topic into the curriculum. Glazer goes on to say that the push for an inclusive system came from the growing number of black students and black educators in the white school system, where white educators adopted a more sympathetic attitude towards the idea (Munroe, 2000, p. 19). A recent study by Anita Bohn documented that the concern of multiculturalism is on the decline among both teachers and administrators (Sleeter, 2000,p. 156). Bohn stated that these are, ...early warning signs that the multicultural education reform movement is in peril, (Sleeter, 2000, p. 156). When trying to understand all of this information, one must understand that multicultural education is not a program (Sleeter, 2000, p. 156). It is not and cannot be addressed sufficiently by any set of state or national standards, or by any textbook series, so that it will no longer require our sustained attention as educators. Multicultural education is a critical forum for reforming schools in ways that support pluralism and equity, (Sleeter, 2000, p. 157). • 14. Uncertainty As A Necessary Property Of The Universe Uncertainty as a Necessary Property of the Universe There is a value in being uncertain about certainty; the value is seen in stress reduction, both in science/professional life as well as in day to day mundane life. The value also exists in the perpetuation or the drive for innovation. The common knee jerk reaction to a presentation of uncertainty is to hold fear or contempt, but after some more careful consideration, uncertainty appears to be very important in nature. There are even ways to capitalize, or exploit, uncertainty for benefit. In science or professional life, embracing uncertainty allows for loosened restrictions on modeling (not to be confused with gross negligence; not referring to introduced uncertainties), higher level induction via empirically determined boundary conditions, and boons in funding for research. The mathematical model only needs to apply to a specific set of conditions. As a scientist, you need not focus on a general model that accounts for all variables. Stresses involved when pressed for resources are then reduced because the focus can be deliberately placed on only the variables you are exploring, or validity of the model needs to be only with a specific set of conditions. The final model can yield nonsense acceptably when used outside the intended conditions. Additionally, boundary conditions can be identified leading to general evolution of systems. Sometimes boundary conditions lead you to the relative stabilities of sets of solutions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A handful of Pearls, away from the planet, did survive and though they have tried to replicate their inter dimensional world, there are things they need: An energy pearl for replicating more marble sized pebbles, and the last remaining conductor, which has just been recovered from a nasty villain and rests in the possession of our (not so) humble protagonists. Perhaps it should be mentioned that at this point, Beeson seems unclear on what exactly our protagonists do for their jobs. DeHaan is a fine actor, but a poor choice to try and carry a two plus hour science fiction adventure which is saddled with nebulous focus and immature scripting. His lack of charisma in this role is jarring, as he opts for a weird 1990 s Keanu Reeves style affect to his voice, and comes off as often smug or manipulative. Opposite him, Delevingne equips herself well, though Beeson clearly has no idea how to write dialogue that makes us believe that she could truly love this guy, or that ... • 28. The As A Form Of Influence On European Art In nineteenth century Europe, exoticism grew in popularity as a form of influence on European art. Renown art historian Enrico Crispolti defines exoticism as the imitation of elements in alien cultures that differ from native traditions. Exoticism carries its own spectrum of interpretation, in that certain works of art can fall under or between two main categories: pure exoticism and transcultural composing. Through the use of non Western elements in Western music, exoticism seeks to evoke a group perceived as different, often by othering said group. Ralph P. Locke, former professor of musicology at Eastman School of Music, views pure exoticism as a form of exoticism with the purpose of representing an exotic subject as different from what is considered acceptable or appropriate. Transcultural composing focuses on a hybrid of Western and non Western styles, and is intended to pay a tribute to the music. There is no clear cut definition of musical exoticism, but rather a window open to varied interpretations and opinions. Renowned for his operas, English composer Benjamin Britten wrote Death in Venice which uses non Western elements to represent something as other within the character of the protagonist, Aschenbach. On the spectrum of exoticism, Britten s Death in Venice falls under the category of transcultural composing due to Britten s respectful use and understanding of gamelan style music. The idea that ones right to think freely relates to another symbol, the golden dancer. The reader is first introduced to this concept by Drummond when he says, Bert, whenever you see something bright, shining, perfect seeming all gold, with purple spots look behind the paint! And if it s a lie show it up for what it really is! (110). The underlying message is that you should not put faith into something because it appears to be great. This problem arose from the fact that the townspeople thought that creationism was perfect. These beliefs were concrete until Drummond started to pick at them. In a sense the beauty of the horse could be related to the outer shell while the core would be evolutionism. In actuality creationism was this beautiful lie while evolutionism was the ugly truth. This was applied to Brady because although at first it seemed that he was towering over everyone with a built in spotlight in end it proved to be that Brady was nothing but a fraud. The idea of Brady being powerful connects to the golden dancer because although the dancer appeared to have substance like Brady in the end it only broke down. • 33. Feminists vs. Playboy Playmates Essay Feminists vs. Playboy Playmates Naked women have been in the front of feminist s minds for several decades. Especially when they are pictured in soft pornography magazine Playboy. Feminists for years have been yelling that Playboy is harmful to both men and women. Males around the country have countered that there is nothing wrong with their Playboy, it is merely a harmless vice. The problem I see with Playboy is not that it demeans women or subjugates them, and its not that it leads to violence. The main problem is that it fosters unrealistic images and expectation in men s minds about women. I interviewed one person on each side of this issue, to get the token opinion that is popular on their side of the issue. On this side is Ursula, an extremely quotable quasi feminist who makes a strong case for her side.[1] Ursula sums up the feminist argument by saying, Guys see the idealized sex goddess, how can women compete? First and foremost feminists argue that the idea of a naked woman in a magazine is degrading to that woman in particular and to women as a whole; Playboy and men s magazines in general make women out to be sex objects (Burstyn, 42). Playboy objectifies women, leaving out the human side (Burstyn, 43). Feminists also say that soft pornography leads to hard pornography which can then lead to violent crimes against women. Rick Heibert in his article A hard line against soft porn says that psychologists have found that viewing soft pornography inevitably leads to harder material (par 4). Others would take this a step further and contend that the viewing of violent pornography then leads to an increased likelihood of committing a violent sexual crime (Cramer 202). These articles would present statistical research backing themselves up, more likely than not the Meese Commission will make it in to any feminist critique. Young Palestinian Voices From East Jerusalem Essay The War of 1967 concluded with Israeli control of Jordanian territories that included Palestinian communities in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. In Young Palestinian Voices from East Jerusalem, Road AbuZayyad claims how the Israeli government s influence and control in East Jerusalem affected the lives of the Palestinians living in the region. In The Birth of Core Issues: The West Bank and East Jerusalem Under Israeli Administration, Moshe Elad recounts how issues, predominantly concerning the Arab and Jewish conflict, arose with the implementation of an Israeli Administration after the War of 1967. The articles share how the Israeli control of East Jerusalem cultivated the conflict, however, each article has a focus on different aspects of the Israeli government that created the Arab and Jewish conflict. While Elad discusses how the Israeli Administration increased Arab Israeli conflict, Abuzayyad focuses on how Israelization, the capture of territory and enforcement of Jewish law, created these conflicts. Additionally, in this paper, I will summarize each of the articles and evaluate them based on their organization, quality of evidence, and perspective. • 36. Tattoos Are A Symbol Of Sexual And Bodily Freedom The practice of tattooing has been used around the globe for ages, particularly in tribal societies. However, there has been an increase in this type of body art in Western society over the last century, regardless of its savage like connotations. Tattoos are viewed by many women as a symbol of control over their bodies, which challenges their historically rooted dependence on men. In this paper, I will argue that although tattoos are a symbol of sexual and bodily freedom for many women, men often interpret this symbolism to mean not simply that women have freedom to make decisions about their bodies, but that women will be promiscuous in their decision making. This interpretation affects interactions and perpetuates stereotypes about tattoos on women s bodies. In Western society, research shows that men are sensitive to a range of physical cues in women, such as a low waist to hip ratio, larger breasts, effective cosmetics use, revealing clothing, and even wearing the color red signals sexual receptivity (Mehta, Psychology Today). Tattoos are yet another physical cue. Men and women realize the symbolism of sexual and bodily freedom that tattoos portray, but for some reason men think tattooed women will be promiscuous in their decision making. I will begin by offering reasons for this promiscuous stereotype s development in Western society, followed by its effects on male female interactions and finally some insight on stereotype reinforcement.
