Critically Discuss the Factors Which Contribute to...
Critically discuss the factors which contribute to building cohesive groups/teams.
The purpose of the essay is to discuss what factors can contribute to building cohesive groups. There
are many factors which can be useful in developing perfectionism within a group. These factors are as
follow: membership and work environment factors, organisational factors and group development and
maturity. Meredith Belbin s nine team roles also determine the degree to which cohesiveness is
maintained. In order to discuss these factors, this essay will define what a group team is and present
two different kinds of groups. Second, some of these factors contributing to success of group work
will be described. Next, this essay will also focus on the role of ... Show more content on

A team can be successful if the members know each other for a reasonable time. Moreover, they can
build trust within such a group and as a result it can help them in building confidence to perform tasks
better (Mullins, 2010). Thus the time, individuals skills, and the size of the group are significant
aspects in building successful teams.
Work environment is another factor which can help build and maintain perfectionism among team
members. Nature of the task can contribute to the task and the degree of task difficulty should be
moderated because too difficult tasks can cause conflicts, too easy one however boredom.
Communication is also very important and tasks should be communicated clearly which can lead to
cohesiveness. Technology is another aspect worth considering as the resources available in the
workplace can contribute to developing successful teams (Mullins, 2010). Therefore, the manager
should organise work according to the sources they have.
Organisational factor can also play an important part in maintaining successful teams. Successful team
work depends on management and leadership styles. Encouragement and understanding of individual
s problems should be maintained. Human Resource policies and procedures should also be applied
fairly and there should not be any act of discrimination towards people. Success is another key
element bringing success in a team (Mullins, 2010). Thus a manager should take an active part in

Beowulf And Grendel Comparison
Beowulf, known as the oldest poem in the written English language, written with no known author,
tells a fascinating story involving an epic hero of his time and a not so understood monster. The hero s
name is Beowulf, purposefully being the same title as the poem itself, he sets out on a journey from
his home to the Danes from a terrible creature that s harming innocent people. As any hero would.
Beowulf wants to prove to himself and the people that he is, in fact, the strongest man on earth.
Although Beowulf is a fine piece of writing on its own, it fails to tell all of the story, just like any
other one sided story does. But, thanks to the novel, Grendel, written by John Gardner, we get to peek
inside the villain s life for a change, which ultimately very well may change the reader s view of the
story completely. These two versions of the same story are told from two different perspectives,
Grendel s (the monster) and Beowulf s (the epic hero), the story told in Beowulf s favor insinuates that
Grendel is a terrible monster with no soul, whose whole life is dedicated to killing anything and
everything in his sight. However, in Grendel, we see a completely different side of Grendel that isn t
over shadowed by the hatred that the people have on Grendel. In the book, Grendel, we learn about
Grendel, and how he feels about himself. We are taken on a journey through the last twelve months of
Grendel s life and what lead up to his, as some would have described it in the

The Three Levels Of Organizational Culture
Organizational Culture is an anthropological term that refers to the values, belief, norms and ways of
doing things that are shared by the organizational members (Knights and Willmott, 2012). While
Schein (1992) stated that there are three levels of culture. The first level is Surface manifestations,
refers to cultural artefacts or observable culture which are the tangible phenomena such as traditions,
ritual, technology, architecture, logos, heroes, myths, stories, and types of person employed represent
the organizational culture. The other two less visible levels are Organizational Values refer to the
belief about how things are done; and Basic assumptions are invisible, unconscious and taken for

Natural Selection Hypothesis
The effects of natural selection on the process of evolution in beans (Phaseolus).
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to understand the process of natural selection through a simulation
involving competition of various preys and predators. In order to simulate natural selection,
experimenters became predators and acted as a species of fork, spoon, knife, or fingers. Beans of four
different phenotypes (white, green, black, and red) represented the prey. The predators hunted prey for
30 seconds three times symbolizing three generations. The prey and predator survivors were doubled
each generation to simulate reproduction. This experiment was done in an asphalt and sand
environment. All data was recorded. The black bean was also the ... Show more content on

For generation one, the spoon, fork, and fingers species started with three predators while the knife
species started with four. The number of predator survivors was one for spoon, zero for fork and knife,
and three for fingers. The second generation doubled its predator survivors of the previous generation,
resulting in a starting number of two spoon predators, zero fork knife predators, and six fingers
predators. For generation two, spoon, fork, and knife species yielded zero predator survivors and
fingers yielded four. The third generation doubled the previous predator survivors to result in a
starting number of eight fingers predators and zero of the species of spoon, fork, and knife. Generation
three had five fingers predator survivors and zero of the other

The German Army During the Interwar Period Essay
Possibly one of the most asked questions in military history is how was the German Army able to
decisively defeat a numerically equivalent Allied Army in France during May and June 1940? One of
the primary reasons for Germany s success was their innovation in armored warfare, particularly at the
tactical and operational levels during the interwar period. The study of the German Army during a
period of prolonged peace and constrained resources reveals that one of the most important qualities
that a military should possess to innovate effectively is the ability to learn as an organization. A
learning organization creates knowledge internally, externally acquires knowledge, and diffuses
knowledge throughout the organization . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Internal creation of knowledge and innovation also requires organizations to critically examine their
operations, and replace practices that do not work. General Von Seeckt produced a generation of
officers that were open to the idea of learning from their failures. Throughout the interwar period,
German officers routinely conducted after action reviews as a tool for open discussion. The ability to
identify failures served the German Army well after their first major combat operations since WWI in
Poland. The senior leadership recognized that although their doctrine and tactics were sound, the
campaign was not perfect. Their primary area of concern was that the maneuvering of unwieldy
armored formations overwhelmed inexperienced leadership, thus preventing them from taking the
initiative needed to leverage tactical advantages. During the seven months prior to the invasion of
France, the senior leadership focused on developing leadership especially at battalion level and below
and reorganizing armored formations to maximize their mobility and lethality . Learning organizations
not only look internally, but they also look at external organizations to gain knowledge as a base for
innovation . The German Army unable to possess tanks under the Versailles Treaty developed armored
tactics effectively by extensively studying British armored development and exercises during the
1920s drawing out their own lessons learned. The Germans already with a firm grasp of

How To Write A Paper On Totem Poles
Did you ever wonder what these scary looking figures were that was on totem poles? Totem poles
were initiated from the Northwest Indian tribes. They are built using symbolic objects from Elements
of Nature, Colors, and Geometrical shapes that represent stories, myths, and/or an important event. I
chose seven items that share the same qualities as me. To elaborate, I picked a unicorn, monkey,
elephant, lotus, dolphin, dog and the color blue because they represent my story. The first item I chose

my totem pole. Ever since I was younger, I would go to a Buddhist monastery to pray and learn more
about my religion. I wanted this to be included on my totem pole because my religion means a lot to

The fourth item is a lotus flower. I chose a lotus flower because it symbolizes my calm and peaceful
attitude. Not only that but it shows everyone s true beauty inside. Meaning outside is beautiful but
once you observe more you can see all the little details that make up this flower. Despite the fact that a
lotus begins on a muddy surface. It grows up to be a beautiful flower. Additionally, Lotus are very
gentle and delicate.
The fifth item on my totem pole is an adorable mammal. It s a dolphin! I chose a dolphin because they
are a lot similar to humans. To me, dolphins represent my joy and happiness every day. To elaborate,
dolphins and I are extremely friendly and cheerful. We both will support our family and friends with

How Did Greek Culture Influence The Minoan Culture
In order to explain the influence the Minoan and Mycenaean cultures had on the later Greeks it is
important to understand the beginnings of Greek culture. The first known civilization of Greek culture
were the Minoans, consequently, there is not a lot of information about this group (The Flow of
History, 2007). The language used by the Minoans is referred to as Linear A, the language is said to
have been the foundation for later Greek language. The Mycenaeans broadened the Linear A language
to make it their own, it is known as Linear B.
The Minoans were thought to be a peaceful society, conversely, the Mycenaeans were geared most
toward warfare. The peacefulness of the Minoan culture is depicted in their artwork, pottery, as well as
their architecture (The Flow of History, 2007). The ruins of the palaces from the Minoans do not
display any fortification to indicate they needed to protect themselves from enemies. The weapons
used in later Greek culture was similar to the weaponry crafted by the Mycenaeans, as well as the
Minoans. The noted difference is the metal, the Minoans and the Mycenaeans crafted their weapons
with bronze the later Greeks used iron (Matthews et. al., 2014). ... Show more content on

goddesses, as well as the heroes of both the Minoans and the Mycenaeans. The Minoan culture
worshipped Zeus in the form of a child who died as an adult, conversely, the Mycenaeans worship
Zeus as an immortal god who created and ruled both mortals as well as

transition from colonial rule to independence in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, as well as the
problems that plagued them since 1945, and how these different nations have solved them. I will be
specifically concentrating on the nations of India, Algeria, and Iran. In the wake of World War Two,
the power of Asian nationalism was irrepressible. Many new nations emerged all throughout this
massive continent. Even though these various nations are different in many ways the way in which
they came together hold true. Everywhere Asian nationalists rallied their people against colonialism

Although this was a problem, it was fairly brief. Since India gained their independence, the country
has faced many problems. These problems include ethnic and religious conflict, poverty and
overpopulation. These problems have been attempted to be solved by the Indian democracy. For
example, The prime minister, Indira Gandhi (1966 77 1980 84) embarked on the green revolution this
increased agricultural yields for India s eight hundred million people. This solved problems of poverty
for a short period of time, this is because India has one of the fastest growing populations in the world.
Gandhi realized this and took stringent action by calling for a state of emergency form 1975 77.
During this time period she imposed very repressive birth control policies, even involuntary
sterilization. Over eight million people were sterilized in an effort to control the overpopulation
problem. This was not the end of India s problems though, in 1980 the religious divide proved to be a
deadly one. Gandhi took it upon herself to fix the problem, ordering the army to attack a sacred temple
which harbored Sikh extremists. She did this all because this particular religion wanted more
autonomy in the Punjab region of India. A short time later she was assassinated by two of her

Characteristics Of Confucius On Good Government
The historical period Confucius on Good Government was written during the period of the first
century B.C until the 20th century B.C. Confucius on good government was a source that centralized

authority could rule effectively. It was said that human nature is not perfect, but it is capable of being
changed by example of sincere virtue. He wanted it to be known to all people that if your desire is for

Geographical Benefits Of Eurasia Essay
The geographical advantages of Eurasia allowed civilizations to develop productive agriculture, and
domesticated animals as a result the Europeans had food surplus, developed immunity to epidemic
diseases, and forged steel. These inherited advantages allowed them to decimate other civilizations
and appropriate their resources making them even more powerful.
Agriculture is only one of the many contributes to where we are today. Geographic location affects
agriculture because each specific crop has needs, if you can t meet those needs, then you can t grow
the crops. Some plants need super wet land and some need super dry land ,let s say you live in Papua
New Guinea they live closer the the equator so they have the same weather year round. So if you re
constantly getting the same amount of sunlight all year then you ll only be able to grow the same crops
over and over again. Papua New Guinea had sago, to get sago people there would have to cut down
the sago tree, cut the sago tree in half and collect the sago inside. With sago you have to have a wet
climate, the sago tree takes three or four days to prepare. Sago does not last long after it is prepared,
sago is low in protein and uses more calories then it gives. But Fertile Crescent on the other hand live
farther from the equator, so they end up getting four seasons while rotating around the sun.Which
leads to an advantage in almost everything. A change in weather four times a year gives them a chance

Uranium Mining in Australia Essay
To what extent should there be limitation on the mining of uranium in Australia ?
Uranium has become a big issue as an alternative energy resource in the future due to the shortage of
fossil fuel as a primary energy resource in the world. Australia is one of country that has the largest
uranium deposits in the globe. So, Australia has important opportunity to make a lot of money from
uranium exports to other countries. However, the Australian Government is still debating this issue
because of the negative impact of uranium mining and exploration. For these reason, some people
believe that uranium mining has more positive impacts on the economy such as, income benefits from
uranium exports and an increase a new job opportunities. However, ... Show more content on

They also point out that the industry has forty per cent of the world uranium reserves. Based on that
reasons, the uranium industry in Australia could make a big profit from export of uranium if the
government takes it seriously. Also, they should be good regulation for uranium trading such as local
trading and international trading. So, some people think that there should not be limitations on mining
of uranium. Another argument against the limitations on uranium mining in Australia is that uranium
mining can increase job opportunities to local people in Australia. According to Greenpeace Australia
Pacific (2006), the uranium industry could create a large number of job opportunities because this
industry needs a lot of employees to support this industry. If the Australian Government expands its
uranium mining, it will create potential local jobs and it would be one solution to solve the
unemployment problem. So, some people believe that the limitation of uranium mining is not
necessary because it can reduce job opportunities in Australia. These economic concerns are important
in the uranium mining debate because the Australian Government can make huge profits from that
industry and solve the unemployment problem as well. However, there are some important aspects
that must be considered such as, uranium as the main material for nuclear weapons, nuclear power is
not efficient or effective, and there is harmful radiation from the mining of uranium. The first reason

What Is The Valley Of Ashes In The Great Gatsby
In the fiction novel The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the story is told from the first person
point of view through Nick Carraway, retelling the accounts of our protagonist, Jay Gatsby.
Throughout this piece, Jay Gatsby strives to be with his so called true love , Daisy, but soon finds out
that she married another man, which creates conflict between many of the characters. The Great
Gatsby has an abundance of symbols throughout the entire text, including the Valley of Ashes
representing the moral and social decay of society in the 1920s, the green light symbolizing Gatsby s
desire to have Daisy as well as the eyes of Dr. T.J. Eckleberg representing God piercing down upon

To explain not only do they live in an atmosphere full of ash, but it is turning regular humans into ash
grey men who swarm like insects around the factories and cargo trains (that s the line of grey cars ).
These are the people who do not get to enjoy either the luxury of life out on Long Island or the faster
paced anonymous fun that Nick finds himself enjoying in Manhattan. In the novel s world of haves
and have nots, these are the have nots. In conclusion, the Valley of Ashes shows the social decay that
results from the wealthy indulging people of West and East Egg taking advantage society and leaving
the poor have to live among the ashes. Another major symbol in the great gatsby that relates to the
social decay of society is the green light, which represents gatsby s hopes and dreams for his future
which is associated with daisy. But it doesn t just relate to the social decay, but also the way on how

My client, Tony Martin, has been employed by Eagle Airlines as a mechanic at its repair facility. He
initially worked at the Minneapolis Saint Paul Airport. However, Eagle Airlines reduced its Minnesota
staff, and consequently, eliminated his job in early 2011. Tony utilized his union seniority to acquire a

result, a few months later, Tony ended up working in the LaGuardia, New York Airport. Finally, he

From Field to Table: The Farmworker s Plight
Every year, Geraldo and Celia take their family on a vacation. Their annual trip takes them from
Fresno, California to Wilsonville, Oregon. They have a large family, but only bring their five youngest
children. It s 2016 and the children are excited to visit their vacation home that they happily describe
as bonito. The vacation home is an agricultural community where other families stay throughout the
year; some of them, like the family of Geraldo and Celia, will be staying only for the berry season,
which lasts for about three months. Geraldo, Celia, and their daughter Iris will be working every day
while in Oregon, and the younger children will go to a temporary preschool. In 2015 the family ...

Unfortunately, the hazards that MSFWs are exposed to have not been addressed thoroughly by
policymakers. There are still clear threats to the health and safety of MSFWs on a daily basis.
Farmwork is laborious, but the rates of injury and illness seen in the MSFW population are too high to
merely attribute to dangers of the profession. MSFWs have lower life expectancies than the general
population, and have an incidence of infant mortality that is two times higher than the national
average, according to David M. Carne s Hispanic and Farmworker Health: A Community Health
Survey of Hood River County, Oregon (Carne 11). The increased infant mortality rate (IMR) is
particularly concerning, as infants aren t participating in farmwork, meaning that the high IMR is
likely from a lack of access to healthcare infrastructure. Most MSFWs do not have healthcare, which
could be influenced by the numbers of undocumented MSFWs who cannot get healthcare in the US,
but we do not currently know how many undocumented farmworkers there actually are. Sometimes
MSFWs lack the education or literacy to pursue healthcare less than 50% of MSFWs with citizenship
have graduated from high school (Arcury). The high mortality rates seen in MSFWs could also be
partially caused by a poor standard of living Carne s survey reported that the average annual salary of
a seasonal farmworker is $6,500 (Carne 11). $6,500 is an extremely low income that indubitably
affects the quality of one s life and the resources available to them. Oregon fails at protecting all of its
inhabitants if it cannot address the systemic problems in agriculture that allow families to face
conditions such as these. It is hard to believe that when a portion of a population faces IMRs that are
twice as high as the rest of the population, nothing is done to remedy

Liraglutide is a new drug for weight management presently in clinical trial. Explain the proposed
mechanism of the drug and briefly report the outcome of the clinical trials.
Introduction
Liraglutide is a glucagon like peptide 1 receptor agonist (GLP 1), which is synonymous with the
naturally occurring human peptide GLP 1 produced in the colon and solitary tract of the brain (Baggio
and Drucker, 2007). The drug was developed recently for weight management and the treatment of
diabetes mellitus type 2 (DM2) and has clinically been shown to promote weight loss. As rates of
obesity and DM2 increase for both adults and children in Australia halting and reversing this
increasing trend has become a national and worldwide health priority (Australia s health 2012, 2012).
This essay will illustrate how the drug Liraglutide can aid in reversing this trend and promote weight
loss.
Background
The drug Liraglutide is seen on the market as two different medications, Victoza and Saxenda.
Initially the drug was approved only for treatment of DM2 back in 2009, but recently was approved
for treatment of obesity as well. The common but different forms differ slightly in their composition
and so are used for different purposes, Victoza for diabetes and Saxenda for weight loss. The drug is
recommend to be used as an adjunct to diet and exercise in the treatment of individuals with a BMI
higher than 27 and for those with DM2 to achieve

What I Save Money While Doing Laundry Essay
With three kids under 10 in the house, and a husband who works two jobs, laundry is an never ending,
on going chore. Every time I turn around I think the laundry has doubled. This is especially true in the
summertime when the kids go out to the pool a few hundred times a day. While laundry can be a
daunting task, it can also be a costly task. Here are a few ways I save money while doing laundry: 1. I
buy name brand detergent that is on sale and I have a coupon for it. It is my personal opinion from my
own observation that the cheaper stuff just doesn t do as good of a job as the name brand stuff. By
checking the sales ads I can usually find Wisk, Gain, or even Tide on sale. CVS usually runs Buy One
Get One Free sales on these items. I use two coupons and get a great deal. I try to never spend more
than $2.50 per bottle or box for name brand detergent. 2. Use the cap or the scoop that comes with the
detergent appropriately. Notice that there are littles lines or notches on the cup or scoop with a
number. These lines indicate the load size of the laundry you are doing. For many, many people they
just assume that 1 load= 1 full cup of detergent. Use the appropriate amount of soap per load, don t
just dump a full cup in there blindly. 3. I actually use 1/2 of the recommended amount from the
detergent cup. If I have a small load, I fill up the cup 1/2 of the way to line 1. If I have a medium load,
I fill up to the 1 line. I never, ever use more than 1/2 of the cup for even

The Violence Against African Americans
Black voices around the country were being heard as they protested for their lives. It almost seemed
like déjà vu for the black community. However, this time, unlike in the Civil Rights Movement of the
60 s, the Black Lives Matter movement had a powerful tool in their pocket: social media. The creation
of the hashtag Black Lives Matter galvanized the movement throughout the nation, as posts from
people on both sides of the spectrum spoke out on their thoughts over the current police violence
against African Americans. Although the hashtag originally began on Facebook, the Black Lives
Matter movement has been able to reach a wide range audience through Twitter. On February 26,
2012, George Zimmerman reported a suspicious person in the neighborhood. After dispatch instructed
him not to approach the suspect, Zimmerman did the contrary and a few minutes later gun shots were
fired. George Zimmerman shot and killed an unarmed, seventeen year old African American, Trayvon
Martin. Let it be known that he had no authority to shoot Trayvon, he was simply a neighborhood
watch. He was not a police officer; he was a civilian in charge of overseeing activities at night.
Neighborhood watch have no authority to arrest or take actions typically reserved for police officers.
Later that week, he was arrested for the murder of Trayvon Martin. However, a year later, Zimmerman
was acquitted of the charge for second degree murder. When the verdict was released, Alicia Garza

Student Loans
Student Loans
The federal government has the power to cutback the funding of student loans. There are several
different ways the government can go about doing this. One way is to keep the amount of each loan
the same and reduce the number of loans granted. Another option the government has is to reduce the
amount of each loan and issue the same number as in the past. Either way, students that belong to a
low income family will be greatly affected. Cutbacks in the funding of student loans have several
effects. One effect is less fortunate individuals will miss the opportunity of attending college.
However, it is not that the poor are unintelligent, but can not afford to attend college without a loan.

In a case such as this, young adults will be forced to drop out of school and into the work field.
Student loans help low income families to achieve their highest potential. Another effect is that many
colleges will become financially burdened. The amount of money a school receives depends on the
number of students enrolled. This money is divided among the schools fixed costs that include teacher
salaries, programs, new equipment, and campus beautification. With a decrease in students several
sacrifices will have to be made. For example, there might not be enough money to pay all the teachers
that are currently staffed. As a result many of them will be laid off. There will also be a cutback in the
number of classes, which are being offered due to the limited staff. Equipment such as microscopes,
computers, and lab supplies will not be updated and replaced as quickly as well. College sports
programs maybe one of the first to be cancelled because given such tight budget educators will want
to put their funds toward academics. Finally, the economy as a whole will suffer. In toadays work field
businesses usually search for well educated individuals to add to their successful team. As student
enrollment drops there are less educated students that graduate. This makes it difficult for businesses
to find individuals with the right knowledge, training, and skills for open positions. When a business is
understaffed, they have a difficult time in keeping

Fukushima Research Paper
To avoid this kind of nuclear disaster from occurring again, both the nuclear corporation and
government administrators worldwide must vigorously consider making at least five major
adjustments to the safety systems at nuclear power plants, in conjunction to security measures and
international reconciliations. Stabilize the electricity supply system is a major contribution to avoid
such a horrendous disaster. What really generated Fukushima was the power plant ran out of
electricity. The power that was used, was cut off by the earthquake and tsunami; onsite emergency
diesel alternators broke down; and batteries were drained within a few hours. In spite of all the
reactors turned off right after the quake hit, an enormous load of decay heat was still being discharged

But the operations were held back by the radiation from the damaged plant. There were also
complications with some of the used fuel stores on the site: they lost compelling cooling, and some
consists of somewhat fresh fuel with high levels of activeness and heat output. There were 3,400
tonnes of used fuel in seven storage pools, in addition to the 877 tonnes of fuel in the reactors

operate the emergency core cooling systems for the reactors. The water inside the reactors melted,
exposing the fuel, which then overheated and reacted with steam to form flammable hydrogen gas.
Hydrogen explosions damaged the reactor containment buildings and discharged radioactive gases
from the damaged fuel. To put a stop to such a power loss from now on, plant engineers should install
numerous connections to the offsite power grid; position emergency diesel generators on high level
grounds; and set up plenty of mobile emergency diesel

The Importance Of Diversity In Language Learning
Our understanding of language, as languages educators becomes part of our professional stance and,
as such, influences our curriculum, planning and classroom pedagogies. Teachers who view language
simply as code make acquiring grammar and vocabulary the primary, if not the only, goal of language
learning. Within such a limited approach, students do not begin to engage with language as a
communicative reality but simply as an intellectual exercise or as a work requiring memorising. It is
primarily a conventional symbol system concerned with communication or coorperation between
people (Lyons, 1981) Individual and social (Gee Hayes, 2011) people talk like others and yet all have
their own style (Bakhtin, 1981, 1986). Every language shares the same basic design properties nouns,
verbs, sentences, and clauses (Chomsky, 1965).
Language is not just a set of rules that tells us how to talk with the correct grammar. A cognitive
phenomenon a set of rules in our minds or brains that tells us how to speak grammatically (Clark,
1996) and Cannot be thought of as only a system of formal elements; have to take into account its
functions (Brumfit, 1994)
Variety is the spice of life . Diversity makes life interesting and gives it all its flavour. This phrase
comes from William Cowper s poem, The Task (1785). I believe in this saying as it is totally true and
as a current Early Childhood Educator, I am embedding awareness and appreciation for different

to react to a stimulus or an event.
The equipment needed to measure this is a 1 meter long ruler and a calculator.
The person to be tested stands near the edge of a table, resting their elbow on the table so that their
wrist is extended over the side. The assessor holds the ruler vertically in the air between the index
finger and thumb of the subject, but not touching. The zero mark should be lined by to the finger and
thumb. The subject should indicate that they are ready to the assessor. Without warning, release the

for example, if the opponent makes an advance on them if any physical way, the subject would need to
be able to move quick and make a decision on how to address the situation and defeat their opponent.
The positives of this test are that it is very simplistic and can be conducted at any given time, with a
very small amount of equipment needed for this to be set up. Also, this test would not take long to
carry out.
However, an assistant is always needed as the ruler would need to be dropped by another person, so
the action would be sudden to make the results valid, and this test is not very valid as it can be seen as
too simplistic to accurately calculate the reaction time of an individual.
My result:7.4cm
After completing this test, my result showed that I had an excellent reaction towards a stimulus, and
would be very suitable for sports that would require me to react quickly, for example baseball would
be a suitable sport for me as I could react quickly when batting as once the ball has been bowled, I
would only have a short period of time to bat without getting a strike. if I began to play baseball, and
trained regularly I would be able to maintain a score that would stay in the excellent category.
However, if I did not train in this specific area, these results would decrease if this test was taken

The song Mama I Love you is also the theme song of a movie, The Unwritten Law. Unexpectedly,

stress and other bad emotions. Apart from the verbal meanings, the dynamic of this song is soft at the

concerned by mother bring sense of security and stability. When it comes to the chorus, the dynamic

bandaged him up and nurtured him for a little while after until she saw he was able to support himself

Another game instance is he would be timed when it came to doing his chores, if not done quick
enough (faster than an adult human could wash and dry the dishes) he would be subject to more, and
more severe punishment. And even if he did accomplish his tasks in a reasonable amount of time, his
only reward was to eat the left over food thrown in the garbage. Emotionally, she never referred to

father tried to comfort Dave, he did not have the will to stand up against his wife. Most likely, the
abuse stemmed from alcohol abuse of his mother and father. They just both handled their addiction in

How Technology Can Be Dangerous For Youth
In this day and age, technology is a major part of our everyday lives. Think of our schedules and
where technology fits into them. We wake up, with an alarm clock; technology. We make breakfast, in
a microwave; technology. We commute, in cars; technology. Almost everything we do involves
technology. One form that commonly occupies our attention and focus is social media. Social media is
any communication that can be done using electronics. Not only do older people find themselves
immersed in social media, but so do children. This form of technology can be dangerous for youth,
tactically imbedding snares, which can easily entangle them. One thing, or person should I say, that
children don t think about when they are networking on social media, is the adult predator. According
to the article Children Must Be Protected from the Content of Social Networking Web Sites, found on
the Online Social Networking website, while on dating sites or even profiling media, kids do not

Homelessness Is A Basic Need And All Human Beings Essay
Shelter is a basic need and all human beings are entitled to it. Though some may have shelter, they not
find a home. Homelessness has become rampant throughout the US population. Each day more and
more people are reported not to have this basic need, sleeping in the streets and wandering all day
long. This has become a major area of concern for the government, social services providers and
social policy makers. The government through the US Department of Housing and Urban
Development has put in enormous efforts to combat the annual rise in homelessness but the situation
has not significantly been curbed. Last year, for instance, there were 92, 593 homeless people who
were reported to be chronically homeless. Although this is a 16 percent drop from 2010 statistics, the
current figure is enormous enough to give sleepless nights to policy makers and the federal
government. (US Department of Housing and Urban Development). This brings to question what the
real odds bedeviling access to proper shelter are. While there is interplay of numerous factors, key
among them is the rise in poverty levels. As the poverty index rises, so does the inability to afford
basic shelter units.
Many of the US state governments (majorly New York) have placed rent controls so as to make
housing affordable to its citizens. Landlords rent their housing units to tenants at government
controlled prices. This is done by the introduction on price ceilings and price floors. Tenants are

Zone Defense Essay
The body has three main lines of defense against microbial pathogens according to Bauman. The first
two are termed innate immunity, they are quick acting and treat all invaders the same. The third line of
defense is called the adaptive immunity, is slower acting and are more specific in the treatment of the
invaders. This can easily be equated with the game of basketball; whereas if zone defense is the same
as innate immunity, when the team plays zone defense the team can quickly react to the offenses play
and they treat each player the same. When the defense plays one on one defense their reaction to the
offenses play can be slower however, they treat each player specifically. The body s adaptive

Without the helper T cells, the B cells would not complete their job. The T cells are divided into three
specific types; helper, cytotoxic, and regulatory. The helper T cells bind to the phagocytes that have
consumed a virus, bacteria or pathogen. Once the helper cells bind to the phagocyte they become
activated and then much like the B cells they replicate. The replicated cells then either become
memory cells or effector cells. The memory helper T cells last for many years and can respond quickly
to the same pathogen, virus or bacteria. The effector helper T cells release a messenger protein called
cytokine that act as alarms to the immune system (Bauman, 480). The effector helper T cells are what
also bind to the antigen on the MHC II B cells. However, the key is that the effector helper T cell has
to be specific to the antigen that is presented on the MHC II. So, the B cell and effector helper T cell
must be specific to that particular pathogen, virus, or bacteria for the B cell to be activated and then

Conflict In The Kite Runner
Middle Eastern Literature
The way of life in Afghanistan is very different from life in America. The conflicts, transformations,
and aspects of human condition from the excerpts of The Kite Runner as well as the articles and
poems discussed in class provide a deeper understanding of what life is really like in the Middle East.
A conflict in literature is defined as any struggle between two opposing forces. The Kite Runner is
filled with both internal and external conflicts that gives the reader insight into the main character,
Amir s, life and thought processes. The first prevalent internal conflict is Amir s mother s death during
his birth and his battle with the way [he] ached for the mother [he] had never met. This ache affected
him psychologically as he struggled to cope with her loss his whole life, well as affected the
relationship he has with his father, who he calls Baba. The second internal conflict is that Amir feels
like he cannot relate to Baba and that he and his father are very different minded people. The first
example of Amir feeling unconnected from Baba is when he was young and Baba would shut him out
of the smoking room during grown ups time and Amir would sit there for an hour, sometimes two,
listening to their laughter, their chatter. This lead Amir to wonder why it was always grown ups time
with him. The first time we see that these two are different minded is when the bus is stopped at the
checkpoint in Mahipar and the Russian soldier wants

Moreover, they can build trust within such a group and as a result it can help them in building confidence to perform tasks better (Mullins, 2010). Thus the time, individuals skills, and the size of the group are significant aspects in building successful teams. Work environment is another factor which can help build and maintain perfectionism among team members. Nature of the task can contribute to the task and the degree of task difficulty should be moderated because too difficult tasks can cause conflicts, too easy one however boredom. Communication is also very important and tasks should be communicated clearly which can lead to cohesiveness. Technology is another aspect worth considering as the resources available in the workplace can contribute to developing successful teams (Mullins, 2010). Therefore, the manager should organise work according to the sources they have. Organisational factor can also play an important part in maintaining successful teams. • 3. Beowulf And Grendel Comparison Beowulf, known as the oldest poem in the written English language, written with no known author, tells a fascinating story involving an epic hero of his time and a not so understood monster. The hero s name is Beowulf, purposefully being the same title as the poem itself, he sets out on a journey from his home to the Danes from a terrible creature that s harming innocent people. As any hero would. Beowulf wants to prove to himself and the people that he is, in fact, the strongest man on earth. Although Beowulf is a fine piece of writing on its own, it fails to tell all of the story, just like any other one sided story does. But, thanks to the novel, Grendel, written by John Gardner, we get to peek inside the villain s life for a change, which ultimately very well may change the reader s view of the story completely. These two versions of the same story are told from two different perspectives, Grendel s (the monster) and Beowulf s (the epic hero), the story told in Beowulf s favor insinuates that Grendel is a terrible monster with no soul, whose whole life is dedicated to killing anything and everything in his sight. However, in Grendel, we see a completely different side of Grendel that isn t over shadowed by the hatred that the people have on Grendel. In the book, Grendel, we learn about Grendel, and how he feels about himself. We are taken on a journey through the last twelve months of Grendel s life and what lead up to his, as some would have described it in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The German Army During the Interwar Period Essay Possibly one of the most asked questions in military history is how was the German Army able to decisively defeat a numerically equivalent Allied Army in France during May and June 1940? One of the primary reasons for Germany s success was their innovation in armored warfare, particularly at the tactical and operational levels during the interwar period. The study of the German Army during a period of prolonged peace and constrained resources reveals that one of the most important qualities that a military should possess to innovate effectively is the ability to learn as an organization. Internal creation of knowledge and innovation also requires organizations to critically examine their operations, and replace practices that do not work. General Von Seeckt produced a generation of officers that were open to the idea of learning from their failures. Throughout the interwar period, German officers routinely conducted after action reviews as a tool for open discussion. The ability to identify failures served the German Army well after their first major combat operations since WWI in Poland. The senior leadership recognized that although their doctrine and tactics were sound, the campaign was not perfect. Their primary area of concern was that the maneuvering of unwieldy armored formations overwhelmed inexperienced leadership, thus preventing them from taking the initiative needed to leverage tactical advantages. During the seven months prior to the invasion of France, the senior leadership focused on developing leadership especially at battalion level and below and reorganizing armored formations to maximize their mobility and lethality . Learning organizations not only look internally, but they also look at external organizations to gain knowledge as a base for innovation . The German Army unable to possess tanks under the Versailles Treaty developed armored tactics effectively by extensively studying British armored development and exercises during the 1920s drawing out their own lessons learned. How Did Greek Culture Influence The Minoan Culture In order to explain the influence the Minoan and Mycenaean cultures had on the later Greeks it is important to understand the beginnings of Greek culture. The first known civilization of Greek culture were the Minoans, consequently, there is not a lot of information about this group (The Flow of History, 2007). The language used by the Minoans is referred to as Linear A, the language is said to have been the foundation for later Greek language. The Mycenaeans broadened the Linear A language to make it their own, it is known as Linear B. The Minoans were thought to be a peaceful society, conversely, the Mycenaeans were geared most toward warfare. Gandhi realized this and took stringent action by calling for a state of emergency form 1975 77. Geographical Benefits Of Eurasia Essay The geographical advantages of Eurasia allowed civilizations to develop productive agriculture, and domesticated animals as a result the Europeans had food surplus, developed immunity to epidemic diseases, and forged steel. These inherited advantages allowed them to decimate other civilizations and appropriate their resources making them even more powerful. Agriculture is only one of the many contributes to where we are today. Geographic location affects agriculture because each specific crop has needs, if you can t meet those needs, then you can t grow the crops. Some plants need super wet land and some need super dry land ,let s say you live in Papua New Guinea they live closer the the equator so they have the same weather year round. So if you re constantly getting the same amount of sunlight all year then you ll only be able to grow the same crops over and over again. Papua New Guinea had sago, to get sago people there would have to cut down the sago tree, cut the sago tree in half and collect the sago inside. With sago you have to have a wet climate, the sago tree takes three or four days to prepare. Sago does not last long after it is prepared, sago is low in protein and uses more calories then it gives. Uranium has become a big issue as an alternative energy resource in the future due to the shortage of fossil fuel as a primary energy resource in the world. Australia is one of country that has the largest uranium deposits in the globe. So, Australia has important opportunity to make a lot of money from uranium exports to other countries. Based on that reasons, the uranium industry in Australia could make a big profit from export of uranium if the government takes it seriously. Also, they should be good regulation for uranium trading such as local trading and international trading. So, some people think that there should not be limitations on mining of uranium. Another argument against the limitations on uranium mining in Australia is that uranium mining can increase job opportunities to local people in Australia. According to Greenpeace Australia Pacific (2006), the uranium industry could create a large number of job opportunities because this industry needs a lot of employees to support this industry. If the Australian Government expands its uranium mining, it will create potential local jobs and it would be one solution to solve the unemployment problem. So, some people believe that the limitation of uranium mining is not necessary because it can reduce job opportunities in Australia. These economic concerns are important in the uranium mining debate because the Australian Government can make huge profits from that industry and solve the unemployment problem as well. There are still clear threats to the health and safety of MSFWs on a daily basis. Farmwork is laborious, but the rates of injury and illness seen in the MSFW population are too high to merely attribute to dangers of the profession. MSFWs have lower life expectancies than the general population, and have an incidence of infant mortality that is two times higher than the national average, according to David M. Carne s Hispanic and Farmworker Health: A Community Health Survey of Hood River County, Oregon (Carne 11). The increased infant mortality rate (IMR) is particularly concerning, as infants aren t participating in farmwork, meaning that the high IMR is likely from a lack of access to healthcare infrastructure. Most MSFWs do not have healthcare, which could be influenced by the numbers of undocumented MSFWs who cannot get healthcare in the US, but we do not currently know how many undocumented farmworkers there actually are. Sometimes MSFWs lack the education or literacy to pursue healthcare less than 50% of MSFWs with citizenship have graduated from high school (Arcury). The high mortality rates seen in MSFWs could also be partially caused by a poor standard of living Carne s survey reported that the average annual salary of a seasonal farmworker is $6,500 (Carne 11). $6,500 is an extremely low income that indubitably affects the quality of one s life and the resources available to them. The Importance Of Diversity In Language Learning Our understanding of language, as languages educators becomes part of our professional stance and, as such, influences our curriculum, planning and classroom pedagogies. Teachers who view language simply as code make acquiring grammar and vocabulary the primary, if not the only, goal of language learning. Within such a limited approach, students do not begin to engage with language as a communicative reality but simply as an intellectual exercise or as a work requiring memorising. It is primarily a conventional symbol system concerned with communication or coorperation between people (Lyons, 1981) Individual and social (Gee Hayes, 2011) people talk like others and yet all have their own style (Bakhtin, 1981, 1986). Unexpectedly, although the song title is Mama I Love You , it was not sung by a son or daughter, instead it was sung by a mother figure. The lyrics of this song all touches my heart deeply. My favorite lyrics is, you don t have to feel burdened to repay (for my love), just say Ma Ma I Love You (無須負重任 催逼一生答謝 只須講 Ma Ma I Love You). This line might seem to be a cliché, but it really works for me. When I listen to this song, it reminds me of how my mother, and father, love me, it support me to fight against stress and other bad emotions. Apart from the verbal meanings, the dynamic of this song is soft at the beginning, but when it comes to the chorus, which is the part of my favorite lyrics, it becomes stronger. I think it suit very well with my perception of maternal love, at first, it was like a mother treating her baby, and even how the baby has grown up to be an adult, the feelings of being loved and concerned by mother bring sense of security and stability. When it comes to the chorus, the dynamic and the singer s volume turn louder, as if the emotion and the love from mother become ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dave considered the abuse he endured by his mother, games . But he always tried to be one small step ahead of her. Like Death From Child Abuse . . . He bled profusely and she bandaged him up and nurtured him for a little while after until she saw he was able to support himself again. Soon after, Dave would have to take care of the wound by himself, like when it became infected, and he had to squeeze the puss from it. Another game instance is he would be timed when it came to doing his chores, if not done quick enough (faster than an adult human could wash and dry the dishes) he would be subject to more, and more severe punishment. And even if he did accomplish his tasks in a reasonable amount of time, his only reward was to eat the left over food thrown in the garbage. Emotionally, she never referred to David as her son. She always knew Dave as the boy or It . As his father would try to intervene to help him out, he would be caught by the madness of his wife in calling him, the boy and It . As much as his father tried to comfort Dave, he did not have the will to stand up against his wife. Most likely, the abuse stemmed from alcohol abuse of his mother and father. They just both handled their addiction in different ways. His father was passive, but still loved his son; his mother became violent and took her frustration and madness out on Dave. Not that alcohol is an excuse, but it was the key to the ignition of that family s child abuse problem. Alcohol in this case ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. How Technology Can Be Dangerous For Youth In this day and age, technology is a major part of our everyday lives. Think of our schedules and where technology fits into them. We wake up, with an alarm clock; technology. We make breakfast, in a microwave; technology. We commute, in cars; technology. Almost everything we do involves technology. One form that commonly occupies our attention and focus is social media. Social media is any communication that can be done using electronics. Not only do older people find themselves immersed in social media, but so do children. This form of technology can be dangerous for youth, tactically imbedding snares, which can easily entangle them. One thing, or person should I say, that children don t think about when they are networking on social media, is the adult predator. According to the article Children Must Be Protected from the Content of Social Networking Web Sites, found on the Online Social Networking website, while on dating sites or even profiling media, kids do not remember to think about the sneaky adults that are targeting them. These adolescents are very vulnerable. They can accidentally give out too much information to these older people. Little do they know that these thirteen year olds that they are talking to are actually creepy old men wanting to do terrible things. They are subjected to stalking, kidnapping, rape, and other acts of violence from these pathological liars (Racine). By the time they realize that their new best friend has lied to them and is ... • 37. Homelessness Is A Basic Need And All Human Beings Essay Shelter is a basic need and all human beings are entitled to it. Though some may have shelter, they not find a home. Homelessness has become rampant throughout the US population. Each day more and more people are reported not to have this basic need, sleeping in the streets and wandering all day long. This has become a major area of concern for the government, social services providers and social policy makers. The government through the US Department of Housing and Urban Development has put in enormous efforts to combat the annual rise in homelessness but the situation has not significantly been curbed. Last year, for instance, there were 92, 593 homeless people who were reported to be chronically homeless. Although this is a 16 percent drop from 2010 statistics, the current figure is enormous enough to give sleepless nights to policy makers and the federal government. (US Department of Housing and Urban Development). This brings to question what the real odds bedeviling access to proper shelter are. While there is interplay of numerous factors, key among them is the rise in poverty levels. As the poverty index rises, so does the inability to afford basic shelter units. Many of the US state governments (majorly New York) have placed rent controls so as to make housing affordable to its citizens. Landlords rent their housing units to tenants at government controlled prices. This is done by the introduction on price ceilings and price floors. Tenants are therefore enabled ... • 38. Zone Defense Essay The body has three main lines of defense against microbial pathogens according to Bauman. The first two are termed innate immunity, they are quick acting and treat all invaders the same. The third line of defense is called the adaptive immunity, is slower acting and are more specific in the treatment of the invaders. This can easily be equated with the game of basketball; whereas if zone defense is the same as innate immunity, when the team plays zone defense the team can quickly react to the offenses play and they treat each player the same. When the defense plays one on one defense their reaction to the offenses play can be slower however, they treat each player specifically. The body s adaptive immunity has five specific characteristics that makes it unique and they include ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without the helper T cells, the B cells would not complete their job. The T cells are divided into three specific types; helper, cytotoxic, and regulatory. The helper T cells bind to the phagocytes that have consumed a virus, bacteria or pathogen. Once the helper cells bind to the phagocyte they become activated and then much like the B cells they replicate. The replicated cells then either become memory cells or effector cells. The memory helper T cells last for many years and can respond quickly to the same pathogen, virus or bacteria. The effector helper T cells release a messenger protein called cytokine that act as alarms to the immune system (Bauman, 480). The effector helper T cells are what also bind to the antigen on the MHC II B cells. However, the key is that the effector helper T cell has to be specific to the antigen that is presented on the MHC II. So, the B cell and effector helper T cell must be specific to that particular pathogen, virus, or bacteria for the B cell to be activated and then start ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The conflicts, transformations, and aspects of human condition from the excerpts of The Kite Runner as well as the articles and poems discussed in class provide a deeper understanding of what life is really like in the Middle East. A conflict in literature is defined as any struggle between two opposing forces. The Kite Runner is filled with both internal and external conflicts that gives the reader insight into the main character, Amir s, life and thought processes. The first prevalent internal conflict is Amir s mother s death during his birth and his battle with the way [he] ached for the mother [he] had never met. This ache affected him psychologically as he struggled to cope with her loss his whole life, well as affected the relationship he has with his father, who he calls Baba. The second internal conflict is that Amir feels like he cannot relate to Baba and that he and his father are very different minded people. The first example of Amir feeling unconnected from Baba is when he was young and Baba would shut him out of the smoking room during grown ups time and Amir would sit there for an hour, sometimes two, listening to their laughter, their chatter. This lead Amir to wonder why it was always grown ups time with him. The first time we see that these two are different minded is when the bus is stopped at the checkpoint in Mahipar and the Russian soldier wants ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
