RELIABILITY DIV1SION GOALs and Results for 2009/2010

   1) Increase member value – Develop a small pocket guide book on reliability
      profession for members.
      Results: Not accomplished – instead working with ASQ Learning Institute on
      CRE prep course – enlisted 12 subject matter experts to work on content
      development.
   2) Upgrade the technical journal of the division and separate under separate cover
      newsletter – all formerly within Reliability Review
      Results: Accomplished - Newsletter in place and published four times. RR
      scheduled to end publication in Dec 2010 with start of Quality Engineering
      participation starting 1st quarter 2011.
   3) Increase Member retention – Stimulate discussion board questions and update
      member welcome.
      Results: Accomplished – The transition to the new ASQ discussion board
      continues to have login problems and lack of participation. The use of Linkedin’s
      Reliability Division group has enjoyed increasing participation and been a
      bountiful source of volunteers. The new member welcome is an email from the
      chair sent to new members once the monthly membership lists are made available.
      Continue to receive positive feedback from new members each month on the note.
   4) Partner with ASQ sections to promote reliability at local level.
          a. 5 Regions will hold joint meetings with RD and someone else
              Results: Accomplished with multiple meetings in Minnesota, Silicon
              Valley, and Rochester. Along with Division sponsorship of Silicon Valley
              Section 1 day quality conference.
          b. Add to contents of past RAMS on “members only” website.
             Results: In progress once the technical hurdles ironed out by ASQ IT and
      process put in place to uploading, keywords, etc.
          c. Distribute RD journal to members on Opt-Out and timely basis
              Results: Accomplished – hardcopy to all members for last four issues of
              the journal, two last FY and two at start of next FY.
          d. Sponsor one track at future WCQI
              Results: Not accomplished – instead focusing on joining as sponsor of the
              Fall Technical Conference – track accepted there. Also, sponsored track at
              the Silicon Valley Section 1 day quality conference.
          e. Sponsor at least one Fellow nomination.
Results: Not Accomplished - Three candidates are in the process of
          building application – none submitted


5) Improve Division Process
      a. Continue and update calendar of reliability events
          Results: Accomplished – team of 5 people actively updating Google
          calendar with web presence on site www.reliabilitycalendar.com with
          thousands of entries
      b. Update website for members – add local event activities and contact
         information
          Results: Accomplished – added CRE Exam committee page among other
          revisions, updates and inclusions. Added Regional Councilor’s page, too.

Reliability 9 1-10 business plan

  • 1. RELIABILITY DIV1SION GOALs and Results for 2009/2010 by Fred Schenkelberg 1) Increase member value – Develop a small pocket guide book on reliability profession for members. Results: Not accomplished – instead working with ASQ Learning Institute on CRE prep course – enlisted 12 subject matter experts to work on content development. 2) Upgrade the technical journal of the division and separate under separate cover newsletter – all formerly within Reliability Review Results: Accomplished - Newsletter in place and published four times. RR scheduled to end publication in Dec 2010 with start of Quality Engineering participation starting 1st quarter 2011. 3) Increase Member retention – Stimulate discussion board questions and update member welcome. Results: Accomplished – The transition to the new ASQ discussion board continues to have login problems and lack of participation. The use of Linkedin’s Reliability Division group has enjoyed increasing participation and been a bountiful source of volunteers. The new member welcome is an email from the chair sent to new members once the monthly membership lists are made available. Continue to receive positive feedback from new members each month on the note. 4) Partner with ASQ sections to promote reliability at local level. a. 5 Regions will hold joint meetings with RD and someone else Results: Accomplished with multiple meetings in Minnesota, Silicon Valley, and Rochester. Along with Division sponsorship of Silicon Valley Section 1 day quality conference. b. Add to contents of past RAMS on “members only” website. Results: In progress once the technical hurdles ironed out by ASQ IT and process put in place to uploading, keywords, etc. c. Distribute RD journal to members on Opt-Out and timely basis Results: Accomplished – hardcopy to all members for last four issues of the journal, two last FY and two at start of next FY. d. Sponsor one track at future WCQI Results: Not accomplished – instead focusing on joining as sponsor of the Fall Technical Conference – track accepted there. Also, sponsored track at the Silicon Valley Section 1 day quality conference. e. Sponsor at least one Fellow nomination.
  • 2. Results: Not Accomplished - Three candidates are in the process of building application – none submitted 5) Improve Division Process a. Continue and update calendar of reliability events Results: Accomplished – team of 5 people actively updating Google calendar with web presence on site www.reliabilitycalendar.com with thousands of entries b. Update website for members – add local event activities and contact information Results: Accomplished – added CRE Exam committee page among other revisions, updates and inclusions. Added Regional Councilor’s page, too.
