The modern day controversies that have challenged the integrity of God s Word have necessitated the
question of whether fundamentalism was ever sanctioned and orchestrated by God. The Holy Bible
and historical reflection, and even, present day scientific data reveal that the origin of fundamentalism
and its ongoing transformation is in fact God s healthy apparatus to preserve the integrity of the
factual claims of Scripture. Thus, the rise of fundamentalism is God s manifestation to combat such
spiritual apparitions as higher criticism and the contamination of the world s social gospel.
The Rise of Fundamentalism Church history reveals that a number of serious biblical doctrinal
controversies occurred during the late 1800s and early 1900s that gave occasion for the formulation of
certain fundamentalist principals to be implemented as a clarification and remedy against unbiblical
manifestations. The authority of the Bible was brought into serious question. During the years of 1910
1915 a Protestant layman, Lyman Stewart brought the word fundamentalism into focus in his effort to
champion the integrity of Scripture. Mr. Stewart produced a series of pamphlets that were called The
Fundamentals. 3 Lyman Stewart advocated for a literal

Starbucks is world s leading coffee chain store with a strong vision and values. Today, they have more
than 21000 stores in over 65 countries. Their product includes coffee, hot and cold beverages, pastries,
sandwiches etc. Starbucks has been maintaining high quality product and customer services all over
the world. They differentiated the company by introducing authentic Italian coffee culture to US
market. However, in early 2008 they faced major challenges with the financial crisis in economic
system which forced them to close many stores worldwide. Secondly, they faced challenges to deal
with increased competition and cheaper rival hence, their earnings fell 28% to $109 million. In
addition, the prices of the products are higher than their direct competitors. Also, they expanded their
business at such level that they couldn t focus on the brand image and quality of the products. They
were losing core values of the company. At that time Howard Schultz, board chairman founder of
Starbucks had observed the urgency to transform the business immediately. He then returned as
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and announced to close more than 600 stores in 2008. To
manage the challenges and to give their customers distinct Starbucks Experience Schultz took
different approaches. Schultz pointed out Seven goals or Big moves to transform the business and
revamp the leadership team. The transformation agenda was created with a strong vision of the

Why Is Karl Marx Considered Radical
Karl Marx and His Radical Views
Karl Marx[i] Karl Marx is among the most important and influential of all modern philosophers who
expressed his ideas on humans in nature. According to the University of Dayton, the human person is
part of a larger history of life on this planet. Through technology humans have the power to have an
immense effect on that life. [ii] The people of his time found that the impact of the Industrial
Revolution would further man s success within this world and would ensure his success as a species.
Marx was extremely radical in finding that this was a positive impact on humans in nature.
In order to understand why his views were considered radical, it is important to understand his ...

Marx believed the workers were not collecting the benefits of the Industrial Revolution. Marx says
that men are forced to work for natural survival. Marx also suggests that working men only have time
to engage in the basic animalistic tendencies of a quest for survival. He says that man becomes
alienated from nature and other humans as well. Marx is basically saying that man lived day by day,
by day and he has nothing else to really live for.
Marx thought that as the workers grew stronger, they would eventually rebel against the organization.
In doing this, they would create a classless society where everyone would be equal and all property
would be abolished. The basis of Marxism is the conviction that socialism is inevitable. Marx believed
the free enterprise system, or capitalism, was doomed and that socialism was the only option[iv].
Obviously, this was not a favored philosophy with expanding industrialists, entrepreneurs, and
existing political systems of the mid nineteenth century [v].
Marx wrote The Communist Manifesto with the German radical, Fredriech Engels,
Fredriech Engels[vi]
who was also Marx s best friend. The Communist Manifesto was a pamphlet written on the eve of the
German Revolution in 1848. In his essay, Marx explains his radical theories on politics and history.
Marx and Engels also examined the positive aspects of capitalism in The Communist Manifesto. They
thought the bourgeoisie had

Roman Values In William Shakespeare s Julius Caesar
In William Shakespeare s Julius Caesar, great emphasis is placed on what it means to be a good
Roman. Honour, honesty, service, and dignity were among the qualities considered virtuous and which
contributed to a sense of Roman duty. Along with the virtues, Shakespeare also seems to examine the
nature of philosophical Stoicism. The treatment of constancy and Stoicism has many thematic and
moral implications in Julius Caesar. In analysing Brutus supposedly noble character, Shakespeare calls
into question Stoicism s place as a guide for human conduct. Roman values and their importance to
the state play a central role in Julius Caesar. These values are portrayed as integral to the success of
Rome, because the majority of these virtues act in favour of the state. Each person in Roman society
has their own role which is part of a more important collective whole. Characters in the play seem to
identify more with being a citizen or soul of Rome rather than a unique individual (Shakespeare,
2.1.323). The play emphasizes Rome as an alien society and analyses the relationship between Rome
and the Romans, who see themselves as citizens, rather than men (Miles, 2). Shakespeare emphasizes
the importance of the state over personal thoughts or feelings: not that I loved Caesar less, but that I
loved Rome more (Shakespeare, 3.2.21 22). Each of the Roman virtues arises out of a sense of duty to
put the state over the self. Following this duty evokes a necessary recognition of

How Did Barnes Implement Geodesic Design
Barnes started working as aircraft engineer in 1913 at Vickers Royal Naval Air Service were he aided
to design rigid airships such as the R.23 and the R.26 both had a high gas capacity as well as were
rapid. In 1917 Wallis designed the R.80, which was introduced and accepted at once. Following by the
design of many others successful airships such as the R.100 and R.101., stated Alfred Pugsley and N.
E. Rowe (1981). Moreover, this brilliant engineer was the first to implement geodesic design in
engineering which was used in the development of the Wellesley and Wellington bombers. Above all,
Barnes most well known invention was the bouncing bomb used in the Operation Chastise that took
place during the Second World War, in May, 1943 where two

Karl Marx s View Of Contemporary Social Ills
Power is present in every relationship and within each individual. Power is defined as a group s ability
to make another group its subject or to make some desired action either by consensus or force. Within
any organization or government, some elite groups make decisions that directly or indirectly affect the
lives of the larger mass. Studies have shown that such decisions in most cases are made to service the
elite s value and economic interests; property ownership or production. Such directions within the
society cause resentment and inequality when the larger mass is not included in the decision making.
The inequality makes the elite class to enforce their wishes and will on the less fortunate (Jessop 174).

Between the two classes are small businesses which Marx calls them petty bourgeoisie , a group that
is subject to either join the working class or the capitalists if surplus can be accommodated. In the
ongoing industrial revolution the social surplus contributes to conflict where classes exist in the form
of struggle for dominance or control over profits. Marx as a conflict theorist argued that the economy
defines and dominates the societal structural change. He explained that social change and structure is a
form of historical materialism that in the history come in two groups: the oppressor and the oppressed.
Marx stated that the society is built on the exploitation of the oppressed. The struggle between the
classes was what brought about the industrial revolution. This division and the struggle in the society
have since never stopped, but instead there have been reestablishment of new classes, new oppression
conditions, and new struggles replacing the old ones. The ancient societies e.g. the Roman and the
Greek was built on slave labor and the two classes in conflict during those times were the slaves and
patricians. The struggle between these classes resulted in the development of feudal societies that were
developed on serf s labor under their opponent, the lords. The end of feudalism ushered in the
capitalism, and Marx called the opposing forces in capitalist societies the

Margo Roth Spiegelman s Paper Towns
Paper Towns starts in Orlando Florida, where Quentin Jacobsen has carried on with all his life,
adoring Margo Roth Spiegelman since when they initially met. The book, on the other hand, begins
with the foundation of Margo and Quentin s relationship. Back when Quentin and Margo were in
primary school, they were friends ... Until one day, when amidst their journeys, they discovered a
deceased man sitting under a tree. Margo was truly fascinated of the man, needing to explore his
demise, yet Quentin needed to leave and call for help quickly. After they cleared out and the police
had assumed control, Margo had really investigated it herself while Quentin was at home. One night

The book closes with Margo and Quentin saying farewell and promising to stay in contact.
Despite the fact that John Green s tone changes all through the book, his tone is ordinarily idealistic
and has a determination about it to stop the dull potential outcomes of Margo s future. Quentin can
discover inspiration regardless of the possibility that now and again it would appear that Margo has
conferred suicide. Regardless, the circumstances, there is a happy comical inclination that John Green
composes all through the novel. The dialogue and relationship in the middle of Quentin and his friends
keeps the book light. Something as random as Radar s guardians gathering black Santa s helps keep a
carefree tone all through the book despite the fact that it manages more profound and darker

Discrimination Against Asian Americans
Yes, I am aware that these college discriminate against all ethnicities other than white and it is
ridiculous. I know that overall, many Asian countries out compete America in Math and Reading
because while our College system is elite, Americans are idiots and somehow believe that they should
instead invest 500 billion $ a year into military rather than invest that into the minuscule 50$ billion
they set for education. White people may not realize it, but America is held together by the minorities
and they are too set on imperialism rather than improving their god awful government. Asian people
have always been smart, Europeans learned guns from the Chinese and the Japanese became
westernized by Americans. Solely, I believe that every single

The Growth of the Labour Party and the Decline of the...
The Growth of the Labour Party and the Decline of the Liberal Party
At the end of World War One in November 1918 the Labour Party emerged as a strong political Party.
Prior to this it was the Liberal Party that was expected to be the main opposition to the Conservatives,
with Labour as a party who used the popularity of the Liberals to become noticed. However, it soon
became apparent that the Liberals were a weak and flagging party who were unable to unite as one to
make decisions. It is evident that the First World War may have been an important factor in the growth
of Labour and the decline of the Liberals.
It seems that the decline of the Liberals began with several problems that can be traced back to pre
war times. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Liberals were hesitant to support women s suffrage because it was hard to know whom women
would vote for. Between 1911 and 1914 the Suffragettes became increasingly militant as the Liberals
refused to find parliamentary time to debate the question. The party claimed the issue was a
constitutional not a moral question . The suffragette issue damaged the Liberals as their evident
reluctance to treat it as a matter of belief weakened their moral standing. Their failure to resolve the
issue proved to be a political embarrassment.
Between 1908 and 1914 the position of Trade Unions legally improved, but these years also saw the
most active period of Trade Union action. This included industrial unrest and much strike action. Two
reasons have been given to justify this industrial unrest: syndicalism or a response to the current social
and economic conditions. However, it is possible that the Liberal government were to blame for this
industrial unrest. They were accused of not taking quick enough action to reverse the Osbourne
judgement (where Trade Unions could not ask for a political levy) which was a great embarrassment
to them. The political levy was declared illegal in 1909 after a union used part of the fees to fund the
Labour Party. There was then a feeling that Liberals were determined to undermine the Labour

Character Of Satan
Satan as portrayed by John Milton is a very different kind of a character. Abercrombie remarks
Paradise Lost exists for one figure that is Satan . He is also the most important character of the epic.
The leader of the rebel angels in Heaven and the uncrowned monarch of Hell, Satan uses his words
tactfully which helps know his personality. When we hear the word, Satan, we immediately think evil.
Evilness is the trademark of Satan s personality but Satan actually has characteristics of a respectable
person, which is quite evident through his speeches. Satan s character is multifaceted and can be
interpreted in numerous lights.
But first we must know who Satan was. Satan used to be one of the most important of God s angels.
He rebelled against God. Satan persuaded a third of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He opens the speech as a magnificent set piece. It reveals the character of Satan an aggressive rebel
and a great leader. His encouragements, haughtiness and sympathy with his followers involve bold
words and sentiments.
Satan s next speech begins with line157 and ends with line 192. Fallen Cherub, to be weak is
miserable,............ If not what resolution from despair.
In his second speech Satan motivates other angels tat they cant offer to be weak when their aim should
be evil. Their main aim now should be to reverse good to evil. He is trying to gather his power and
influence back.
One interesting aspect to be seen is that Satan is acting like a hero. He doesn t give up on something
once he starts. Satan greatest quality as a leader is his readiness to act under all circumstances. Not
only is he ready to face the terrors but also he motivates and directs all the angels to come out of their
gloom and take action. Satan is trying to infuse fresh courage into them.
He indeed is the harbinger of light among to the depressed followers, but such a light that makes them,
all the more fierce, destroying everything that they may consider

Examples Of Push And Pull Factors On Mexican Immigration
Mexico is an extremely important country, as far as immigration is concerned, in the world. It has a
large amount of emigrants that leave their country each year. Many of these emigrants go to the United
States. This has caused the Mexican immigration issue to become very popular. After research, we
have found out a lot about the country of Mexico. One fact about Mexico is that it has multiple push
and pull factors. A few examples of some of Mexico s pull factors are because of a beautiful
landscape, lower costs of living, and affordable properties. These are all major factors in the moving
process. Unfortunately, Mexico has a large amount of push factors as well. Some of these push factors
are urbanization in the West, violence, and migration policies. It is clear by the amount of people
migrating from, and to, Mexico that these are big factors in migration. According to Fox News, The
Pew Research Center found that slightly more than 1 million Mexicans and their families, including
American born children, left the U.S. for Mexico from 2009 to 2014 (Fox News). This shows how
much pull factors are involved in Mexican immigration. Push and pull factors are a huge part of one of
the world s biggest immigration issues, but their are other factors as well.
One of those factors in Mexican immigration is the landscape of the country. According to
oddizzi.com, Mexico has rainforests and beautiful beaches along its Caribbean and Pacific coastlines,

Levi s Strauss And Co Essay
Levi s Strauss Co
Two years after his father s passing, Levi Strauss immigrated from Buttenheim, Bavaria to New York
with his sisters in 1848. His two older brothers owned a dry goods business called J. Strauss Brother
Co located in New York City. After becoming more familiar with the trade and how the business
worked, he traveled to California after word got out about the gold rush in 1853. Levi wanted to keep
up with the demand, so where there were people looking for their fortune through gold, he was there
making pants for them and the people who worked in tougher conditions.
Levi received a letter around 1872 from a loyal customer of his. Jacob Davis was a tailor from Reno,
Nevada loved his design of pants and continued to buy from Levi because of the pant s quality. He had
a proposition for Levi. In this letter it proposed on collaborating on a new design for pants were using
metal rivets on the sections that go through the most strain, would make the pants last much longer.
Jacob came to Levi because Levi was already established as a businessman and was familiar with the
trade. Also he needed someone that was familiar with the trade to put this idea into action. Levi agreed
to patent the idea. On May 20, 1873, the patent was given to Jacob Davis and the Levi Strauss
Company and the blue jean was born.
The iconic blue jeans were originally called XX. In 1886, Levi had a two horse logo branded onto a

Columbus
A great hero from Europe or a man with only himself and his people in mind? Many people believe
that he was a hero whose discoveries lead to the possibilities we have in America today, while many
other condemn him for the deaths of many Native Americans that occurred to make it possible to live
in America today. What would someone like me see in Columbus discoveries and enslavements? He
introduced the Europeans to new products and ways of financial expansion. Even though Columbus

The discovery of the Americas also allowed new trading options and financial expansion which
benefited all of Europe.
What great length would one man go to for himself and his people? Although Columbus discoveries
offered more trade and financial gain for Europe and himself, the consequences were more deadly
than the gain could ever be fruitful for the natives. With the grazing animals that the Europeans
brought over to the natives, also came a drop in vegetation which decreased their food supply. With
the exchange of goods between the Europeans and the natives there was also an exchange of diseases.
With the diseases such as smallpox, mumps, measles, and whooping cough, also came another called
death. With these diseases spreading through the native villages, fifty to ninety percent of the native
population died. With the decrease in native population also can a decrease in their resistance and
ability to fight off the Europeans. Columbus began to think of the natives as future slave laborers.
Many unsuccessful attempts were made to enslave the natives but each failed and Columbus gave up
and started looking toward the West Africans. They began kidnapping Africans and bringing them
over by ship to the Americas. Many died during the voyages and the ones that survived became slaves
and worked in the Americas.
What could the prospect of becoming rich do to a person not to mention a country? The countries that

Iowa State University Application Essay
Things often don t go as planned in life, but sometimes it s for the better. I never actually planned on

myself and develop through classes, clubs, and the NROTC program.
When I first applied to Iowa State University, I was originally planning on attending the University of

Once I told my friends, family, and mentors about my acceptance, I was told nothing but good things.
The reputation that Iowa State has established for itself is one of the best. Even one of my small group
leaders at church who graduated from University of Iowa, conceded that Iowa State has an exceptional
engineering program. At that point I started to do research about ISU, and through research I
discovered that Iowa State is ranked within the top 25 engineering programs in the nation. That s
when I took a look at the majors that Iowa State has available and decided on majoring in software

The Big Man And Chiefdom Societies In New Guinea
In the big man and chiefdom societies, gift giving is sometimes used as a means of attack to gain
personal prestige. The Kwakiutl are a prime example as well as various groups in New Guinea.
According to the lecture notes, the way it works is the citizens of the Big Man societies come and pay
their debt to their leader, then are invited to a huge feast in which the leader gives all that he has
received away to everyone, rich or poor. He becomes known as a generous leader and gains respect
and admiration from his followers. The Big Man societies follow the rule that the more prestige you
gain, the higher your political power and status will be. The chiefdoms, however, do not follow this
rule. Instead, they follow a ranked system based on the

Nucleic Acid Investigation
The purpose of the introductory activity was to analyze the pH of a mixture of a strong base and weak
acid. The purpose of the guided inquiry lab was to analyze the concentration of sodium carbonate by
titrating the substance using a nitic acid solution.
Introductory Activity
5 mL of both 0.2 M ammonia and 0.1 M acetic acid were placed in separate test tubes and their pH
was determined with pH paper. A mixture was created by pouring both together and its final pH was
recorded. The strength of the acid and base was determined and whether the two had equal
concentration. Each indicator was researched (its colors when it s acidic/basic and its pH transition
range) and phenolphthalein was deemed suitable for this experiment. 5 mL of acetic acid was poured
into a test tube and 1 2 drops of phenolphthalein were added. The initial color was recorded. 10 mL of
ammonia was obtained in a graduated cylinder and using the graduated pipet, the base was added to
the acid in 1 mL increments. Upon reaching the equivalence point, the indicator color and the amount
of base required to obtain this point were recorded. The relative concentrations of the acid and base
were then estimated.

Age Related Macular Degeneration Essays
Review: Age related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of blindness in people over the
age of 50. Every ten years after the age of 50 the prevalence of this disease increases exponentially.
Many different factors contribute to the development of AMD including genetic, environment, and
metabolic functions. Aside from smoking, abnormal blood pressure, and an unhealthy diet low in
fruits and vegetables, many more studies are concluding that similar inflammatory and oxidative
processes seen in other age related diseases are also playing a key role in the development of AMD.

great and potential of complete vision loss is still possible. People affected by dry AMD experience
central vision impairments, limited area of central vision, and limited vision when in areas of reduced

deposits, known as drusen, under the macula. The macula is a small area within the retina that is

Summary Of Brahms Symphony No. 4
Brahms wrote Symphony No. 4 in E Minor in 1884. The work was first performed in Meiningen,
Germany in October 1885 and was an instant success because of its masterful composition and unique
style. Brahms s music and his fourth symphony are often viewed as a bridge between the music of the
baroque and romantic era. Although Brahms is considered to be a romantic composer, his music is
unique from others because you can hear both the style of older era composers and features of
romantic style in the texture of his works. This combination of baroque and romantic style in his
music helps create more balance in the music, which gives it a blend that captured audiences and still
entrances them today. Brahms was also inspired by study of Beethoven s symphonies for their
orchestral color and harmonic structure; Brahms incorporates these features he enjoyed into his
writing. The fourth movement of Brahms symphony No. 4 is titled Allegro energico e passianato and
is known for its use of the Baroque style of Chaconne and other features that are found in the
Romantic style as well. Some of these include chromaticism, a melody that jumps between major and
minor keys but does not settle into a single mode, and extended techniques to creature a richness and a
wide pallet of sounds.
Brahms was a scholar and had a strong interest in Baroque music. His fourth movement makes use of
the Chaconne style. It is a series of repeated variations and chord progressions, a form of ostinato or

Portrayals Of Schizophrenia
Schizophrenia is an illness that affects an estimated 3.2 million people in America alone (Nemade).
Often, people have scattered reactions when they hear the word schizophrenia. Some may associate
this word with uncontrollable actions that could potentially cause harm to those around them. People
may think of serial killers, rapists, or any form of negative archetype seen in the media. According to
the DSM 5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders), schizophrenia is diagnosed if the
patient experiences delusions, hallucinations, and/or disorganized speech for more than a month.

It is consumed by the masses at exponential rates, so it is only natural for the consumers to accept
most of what they see as truth. Many times there are reports of serial killers or rapists pasted all over
the media. Often, news channels will assume the perpetrator has some form of mental illness, such as
schizophrenia. Consequently, many people associate schizophrenia with a negative stereotype
associated with violence because of what they view in the media. In the scientific study, Portrayals of
Schizophrenia by Entertainment Media: A Content Analysis of Contemporary Movies, the author
reviewed 41 different films made between 1990 and 2010 with at least one main character that had
schizophrenia. The study found most characters engaged in dangerous or violent behaviors toward
themselves or others, and nearly a third engaged in homicidal behavior (Owen). Accordingly, the
negative portrayals of those with schizophrenia in movies influence the stigma among the general
public that schizophrenia is dangerous. Instinctually, people want to keep themselves safe and alive in
their day to day lives, so having this negative reaction to schizophrenia will make them feel safer by
avoiding those with the illness.
The overall view of schizophrenia from society creates a negative public stigma. People diagnosed
with a mental health problem were most likely to be seen as unpredictable, hard to talk to, and
unlikely to recover (Wood and Birtel). According to Public Perceptions of Stigma Towards People
With Schizophrenia, Depression and Anxiety, many in society view schizophrenia

Athletic Coaches Research Paper
If a group of students were asked who the biggest influence in their life was, many would say some
kind of coach. The general thought that comes to mind when discussing coaching is athletic coaches,
but coaching has a much broader spectrum. The major difference between a coach and other leaders is
commitment. Coaches help build plans for success for their followers and then follow their progress
until the goal is completed. In my life, I use coaching often with my younger siblings and still receive
coaching from my older brothers. It is important to me to check in with my little brother about school,
sports, and his goals. Having gone through it before, I can offer advice and suggestions and hopefully

Animator Vs Illustrator
Animator vs. Illustrator Many people know the general difference between an animator and an
illustrator, however there are many more differences and similarities under the surface. There are
many instances in which people have double majored in both animation and illustration, but they are
vastly different in what they do. In their jobs animators and illustrators work on different platforms
and medias, have different job environments, and have different consumers for their works. Animators
use three dimensional technology to create their pieces. Their technology often varies, but narrows

They work on a team of animators, ranging from ten other people to fifty, depending on the pieces

merchandising materials. Illustrators often solely depend on commissions from consumers. They can
promote themselves online or outright to customers. Illustrators can create pieces for someone who
just wants to have a piece of art, or someone who wants to promote their business. Animators work in
studios, with a desk to themselves and a tablet and their computers. Illustrators can work in studios,
but most times work at home on their own time. When both animators and illustrators are charging for
commissions, they can either charge on the hour or pre set prices on the type of commissions. Pre set
commissions can range from line art, rough sketches, busts or full body shots. Animators and
illustrators are completely different jobs, but often overlap with each other. They use different medias
to complete their respective pieces, have different job environments, and different consumers for their
work. Though both sides are very hard to do, people will still choose to train as both to gain more job
opportunities. Being an animator or an illustrator are still tough and

Strong, Independent And Hardworking
Strong, independent and hardworking. All words I would use to describe my Mum. Ever since she was
young she did her best and put effort into everything that she set her mind to. Eleven years younger
than her youngest sibling, the way she grew up was a lot different to the way her older siblings had.
This explains her independence. She may have had four siblings looking after her in her primary years
but by the time she had started intermediate school, it was just her. The others had all gone off and had
their own kids. After her father left and her mother became ill, the only person she could count on was
herself and that idea still sticks with her today. She was like a baby bird that had just learnt to fly and

Around the house she walks around in her classic black Canterbury track pants, holes in the knees and
faded writing, alongside them she wears casual t shirts, never the same one twice. It s always like this
at home because as she says, What s the point? I m not going anywhere! But as soon as she has to
leave the house it s always out with the skinny jeans and the hair straightener. As most people do, she
has grown emotionally stronger. Married at twenty two for thirteen years to a man who others warned
against. Over the course of those years she was broken down emotionally. Cheated on, stolen from and
lied to constantly. The decision she made to end the marriage and gain full custody of us kids was the
formation of who she is today. If she hadn t made that decision she would still be a lonely, fragile
woman because of who her husband was turning her into. Once that had happened she became strong.
She made the choice to never let anyone push her around as she quite scrupulously points out when
she s pissed off at someone. Anytime I come home I will always see Mum doing the same thing. She ll
be sitting in her late mother s big red recliner, dog in her lap, watching some old T.V show from the
nineties and usually she ll be knitting something. Most of the time it s a self less deed for someone
else as per usual. Every time I get home she asks how my day was and what I got up to in an

Charlottetown Conference Case Study
While the attendees of the Charlottetown Conference all came to one final decision, there was
definitely more than one point of view within the room. After failing to receive a contribution from the
Province of Canada to a major railway from Halifax to Quebec (Intercolonial Railway), the three
Maritimes colonies had organized the Conference in order to achieve a union between the three of
them, helping the colonies to receive more political power as well as overseas investments. There
were vast areas of land that the Prince Edward Island delegates were looking to sell from landlords to
people who lived outside the colony. The landlords who owned these plots of land rarely fulfilled all
of the requirements that were provided. The Island settlers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

While the delegates were discussing terms, there was an American Civil War taking place to the south.
Britain was wanting to reduce its financial and military aids with its North American colonies. This
added to the giant United States armies posed a large threat to the Province of Canada and the leaders
and delegates decided to take action. In fear of the United States taking over the northern half on the
continent, there needed to be change in the colonies. When word spread of a conference being held in
Charlottetown, the Canadian politicians took the opportunity, sending a delegation that had not been
invited but was welcomed nonetheless. After the Canadians arrived to the Conference and shared their
ideas, the other attendees needed some time to think. After seeing no big reason to disagree with the
Province of Canada about uniting all of the colonies, they gave their final statement: A unanimous
vote towards the federation of all of the provinces, as long at the terms were approved.
To summarize, there were two perspectives at the Charlottetown Conference. The three Maritimes
colonies were looking to unite as one to achieve better financial opportunities. Meanwhile, the British
North American colonies were grasping for a union between them and the Maritimes due to their fear
caused by the American Civil War. After sharing ideas with the Maritimes, the Canadian colonies

Allen High School Sinfonia Orchestra
On Thursday, February 25th, the Allen High School Sinfonia orchestra performed a variety of
fascinating pieces. The orchestras began the concert with Concertino by John Cacavas. The next piece
that the orchestras performed was Prelude for String Orchestra by Gerald Finzi. The last piece that the
Allen High School Sinfonia performed was Allegro from Sinfonia No. 6 in G minor by Johann
Christian Bach.
In the first piece Concertino, John Cacavas starts the piece in the key of D major with a catchy intro
that leads smoothly into the rest of the piece. The violins and violas have the melody while the cellos
and basses have a very short and lifted part. The musicians do an outstanding job of keeping the
staccato light and not adding any unnecessary weight to the note. The higher strings are covered up by
the lower strings, the ensemble needs to work slightly on their balance to one another. The bass and
cello have a very dark and almost brooding tone that sharply contrasts the brighter, more powerful
tone of the high strings. The articulation and intonation were very clear, making the piece very
musical. The cello soloist played very well; however, the higher strings dominated the soloist s
volume making it harder to hear the actual solo. All instruments return to using a full bow with violins

1. In HTTP there are POST requests and GET requests, explain the difference(s) and why one is
slightly more secure than the other. Solution: 1.1 Difference (1) GET is typically used to retrieve data
from server that doesn t change anything on the server. POST is used to send data to server that
somehow causes a change in the state of server, such as inserting data in a database. (2) On client side,
GET uses URL to submit data and the data will be seen in URL. To submit data, POST puts data in

POST, the server uses Request.Form to get the data submitted. (4) GET usually transfers small amount
of data, while POST can transfer relatively larger amount of data. 1.2 Why one is slightly more secure

Commercial Property Disadvantages
Disadvantages of commercial property 1. Commercial property is susceptible to economic downturns.
2. The underlying costs may be high. 3. Commercial property can be tough to sell when values are
declining, even when a fund is used. 4. Portfolio use 5. Due to the probable difficulty in selling
commercial property holdings, commercial property is best used to expand your portfolio instead of as
a core portfolio holding. Return expectations from commercial property There are two possible
sources of investment return when it comes to commercial property. These are: 1. Capital growth:
Capital growth refers basically to increases in the value of property. Capital growth has a tendency to
be helpful in times of good financial growth; this can be uninteresting when growth is slow and
damaging in downturns. Just as economic forecasting has a tendency to be a particularly undependable
science, property price forecasting is likely to be unreliable and pose great differences of opinion.
Gains and losses are to be expected, but may in the end even them out. 2. Rental yield: In due course,
rental profit is likely to be a grander contributor to profits than capital growth, along with being
significantly more dependable. In times when rental yields are great in comparison to government
bond yields, it could be wise time to invest in commercial property. In Ireland and the UK, leases have
a tendency to be long, normally for 10 or more years at the beginning. This means that the rental

Paleolithic Vs Neolithic Research Paper
I would prefer living in the Paleolithic Era and the Neolithic Era.
One main reason is that the Paleolithic men were much healthier than the Neolithic men in the ways
that, Paleolithic men were foragers and they moved their food which led them to not staying in one
spot permanently. This means that sickness and diseases were not easily passed on. Unlike the
Neolithic men who did have permanent settlements and had illness passed around quite easily. Also it
says in the passage Old Stone Age vs. New Stone Age that The adoption of grains in the Neolithic era

They created created language by using symbolic language (using symbols or sounds to communicate)
and collective learning (telling other people about your discoveries so they can use it and the
information does not die). Although the Neolithic man did create some very important discoveries too
(the wheel, calendars, time keeping etc.) they would not have able to make these discoveries without
language.
Another reason is that the Paleolithic people had a healthy balanced diet. The Paleolithic people had a
main diet of meat, fruits, vegetables, and wild grains. Whereto the Neolithic people had a main diet of
wheat, yams, corn, rice, and maze. As we ve seen in paragraph one grains make your bones thinner,
decrease your height, and make you have crooked teeth. Therefore the Paleolithic people had a better
balanced diet which allowed them to be healthier.
My fourth reason is that you are a farmer (Neolithic) and one year you have bad weather and your
crops don t grow. Now you have very little if any food. That doesn t just effect a couple of people
though. That effect your whole clan or colony which can be a lot of people. Whereto if your a forager

don t need to stress about it because you can move like you do anyway for your

LITERATURE REVIEW: Human resource professionals and academics can be broadly divided into
two groups. The first group advocates that only monetary benefits would motivate and ultimately
retain employees whereas the second group considers intrinsic motivators more important than salary,
bonus and other monetary perks. Michael Armstrong in his book Human resource management
practice discusses that reward system must encourage employees to achieve corporate objectives
(Armstrong, 2003, pp. 613 630). The writer believes that employees remain motivated if they are
rewarded to achieve goals of a company. And when they are motivated they will stay with a company.
Taylor and the Instrumentality theory also support Armstrong s approach (Armstrong, 2003, pp. 217
230). According to both of these theories people only work for money and one action gives rise to
another . That means if people are rewarded they will be motivated and if they are motivated they will
not leave a company. However Taylors completely ignores social needs of human beings and confuses
them with machines. Other academics hold completely different view about retention and

The Most Controversial Form Of Classroom Discipline
As centuries have progressed, there have been many different opinions regarding classroom discipline
and how to achieve the optimal learning environment. Teachers have individually found their comfort
zones regarding the form of discipline that they enforce in their classroom. The most controversial
form of disciplinary action throughout history is corporal punishment, such as paddling or hitting
hands. Other forms of discipline typically used have been writing off , public shaming, and
suspension. It is now believed that Student Oriented Discipline is most beneficial for the student, the
teacher, and other classmates.
By 1910, it was mandated that children attend public schools. At this point, teachers began assuming
disciplinary roles since students were spending most of their day at school. It was believed that they,
along with parents, were responsible for raising moral beings. The court systems had begun to
separate adult and juvenile punishments and believed that children should be rehabilitated, not
physically punished.
In the beginning of the 20th century, the idea was that children should sit in the classroom and the
teacher would transfer his or her knowledge to them. Strict discipline was a part of this classroom
control. Acceptable forms of disciplinary action were paddlings. Judith Kafka, a professor and author,
stated that A lot of reformers... who said this is not any way to raise moral beings and we should not

Rockefeller was a great Captain Of Industry; he reshaped and converted the oil industry and became a
philanthropist. Rockefeller grew up in an above average home with his Mother and Father. After being
graduated from High School in 1855, the family sent him to a Cleveland Business School. (The New
Tycoons: John D. Rockefeller) Rockefeller s parent s support as a young man was a great contribution
to his success. Many people argue that Rockefeller didn t deserve his great accomplishments, but just
as many other successful people; he too worked very hard for his achievements. Young John
Rockefeller entered the workforce on the bottom rung of the ladder as a clerk in a Cleveland shipping
firm (The New Tycoons; John D. Rockefeller). Rockefeller went from being a clerk in a small firm to
building up one of the greatest and largest industries in the U.S. As products such as automobiles were
becoming more popular, the demand for oil grew. John D. Rockefeller was also known for being a
Philanthropist, Rockefeller wrote one of his partners, let the good work go on. We must ever
remember we are refining oil for the poor man and he must have it cheap and good (Folsom, John D.
Rockefeller and the Oil Industry) Rockefeller knew that there was a need for oil, he gave the best oil

Examples Of Opera Buffa And Hope In The Shawshank Redemption
Opera Buffa and Hope in The Shawshank Redemption What does one imagine when viewing a comic
opera? Servants outwitting their masters? A happy ending? However, would one imagine a comic
opera in a maximum security prison? In The Shawshank Redemption, Andy Dufresne plays an duet
from Mozart s comic opera, The Marriage to Fiagaro, as its Enlightened ideals represent Andy s prison
experience and its Classical characteristics evoke a sense of hope in the repressed prison. Wolfgang
Amadeus Mozart s The Marriage of Figaro reflects the social and musical influence of the Classical
period. Socially, The Marriage of Fiagaro reflects the ideals of the Enlightenment. The Enlightenment

Common characteristics of classical music include strong dynamics, changing rhythms, simplistic
melodies, and homophony (Tomlinson and Kerman 155 158). When focusing on the aria played in
The Shawshank Redemption, one hears the natural use of the voice. We re not asking the voice to do
anything that it really doesn t want to do, and it s naturally dramatic (Greenberg). The homophonic
music accompanies Susanna s aria, but does not over power her voice; it is simple. The changing
rhythms and dynamics express Susanna s emotions as music during the Enlightenment was considered
akin to the motions of the human soul, from which it follows that music is able to apprehend and
convey the impulses and moods of the human soul (Lang 96). These feelings, however, are not those
of the Church or government institution; they are the feelings of a servant who wants to marry Fiagaro
and the Countess, who is conspiring against her husband. Another introduction in comic opera was the
ensemble, a number sung by two or more people (Tomlinson and Kerman 189). The ensemble allows
the characters, Susanna and the Countess, to express their emotions simultaneously. Musically, the
duet in The Marriage of Fiagaro incorporates the popular characteristics of the Classical period to
express the natural emotions of two women. The Shawshank Redemption is a critically acclaimed
movie that addresses topics such as infidelity,

Customer service durations in the restaurant are variable, for example, some may take 90 minutes and
some may take 60 minutes.
Opportunities
Increased capacity presents opportunities for increased profits and provides better competitiveness in
the very competitive restaurant industry.
Threats
Adding a second food preparation area may create bottleneck that defeats the purpose of reducing the
customer waiting time.
Utilizing seats in full capacity may make customers feel crowded and compromise the customers
dining experience.
The market may not need the increased capacity.
FINANCIAL ANALYSIS
Assumptions
1. All data will only apply to busy nights (Thursday, Friday and Saturday), when the restaurant is in
full capacity.
2. During the busiest hours, 6:00 to 10:00 pm, each table would seat 4 separate groups of customers
rather than 3.
3. Information from the London location are used to analyze the Waterloo location, such as an average
of 3 trips to the food preparation area during dinner, average group of 4 to 6 people spent 90 minutes
on busy nights.
Analysis between design changes versus capacity changes (see Appendix D)
A combination design of adding a second food preparation area and moving the cooking grill will
have the most impact on the capacity by increasing volume by 19%.
Analysis scenarios of design change associated with capital cost, operating expense, gross profit, and
payback time (see Appendix E).

The Greek Storage Jar ( Amphora ) Depicting Man And Boy
The Greek Storage Jar (Amphora) depicting man and boy was created around 550 540 BCE. It was
found in Ancient Greece. The amphora storage jar is made out of terracotta and it is eleven inches in
height. Then it was painted on with black and brown paint. This jars colors are used to create contrast,
the lines are used to unify it, the shapes on the object are the most important part of the image and
patterns are used on the jar to help fill the space on the jar. Therefore colors are used to create contrast.
There are three different colors on the jar: the natural color of the terracotta, the brown paint and the
black paint. Since terracotta is a neutral color it provides an excellent background for the painting.
Black is a very dark color and it makes the people and the designs stick out. People use black paint
when they want their design to be important. Brown is a neutral color and it is used to show the not so
prominent part of the image. The little bit of brown paint shows the ground the people are standing on.
It also unifies the other places where it appears. Looking at the top there is a pattern painted with both
the black and brown paint to show contrast. After contrast is seen unity is also seen with lines. Lines
are used to unify the artistic image on the Greek storage jar. The thicker the line the more important it
is, the thinner the line the less important it is. The lines create objects which then create the entire
image. Many different patterns are also

A Life Cycle Ritual That Celebrates And Marks The Passage...
In life no matter what religion, ethnicity, gender, etc that all people are made up by we see that all
humans have the need to bring meaning to our lives, the Human Condition. We as humans, despite
having different qualities and each person being unique, Joseph Campbell presents us with the idea
that people are inherently more alike than we as people are different, the concept of Intrinsic
Sameness. This Sameness in all humans allows us to observe similar themes and meanings behind our
human ritualistic acts and stories, the stories that are very important to humans and how we came to be
to this day. There are many traits/stages/ common experiences that relate to all humans, but to focus
on two that have deep meaning and importance to any culture. A life cycle ritual that celebrates and
marks the passage into death, along with a belief story that brings meaning to a culture similarly to
other cultures world wide. The Chippewa (Ojibwe) culture focuses on these two traits, a life cycle
ritual that celebrates and marks the passage into death, along with a belief story that brings meaning to
the Chippewa Culture.
The Chippewa Tribe is a very historic and well known culture that works hard and respects everyone
while holding everyone as well to a very high regard. They see themselves as another element of
nature; no greater and no less than everything else on earth ( Flett 1). Their beliefs are centered around
the belief in Gitchie Manitou, the Supreme Being, Master,

Markdowns Markdown Areas
A:
 We could tell just by looking at the items why they were marked down they were all summer styles,
out of season lighter denim washes, and tops are sleeveless tanks in a bright range of colors.
B:
 The prices in the denim range from $79.97 to $119.97 the tops range from $17.97 to $34.97. The
items seem to be properly priced however now that the temperature seems to be dropping, I would
expect the prices on the tops especially be slashed again. Even though the denim on sale consists of
mostly lighter colors, they can still be worn year round so they most likely will not see too many huge
markdowns for the change of weather.
C:
The Buckle location that we visited has a huge Forever 21 store to compete with about three stores

The Reid Technique For Interrogation
The Reid technique
One of the most famous technique for interrogation is the Reid technique. According to the company
website, over 500,000 law enforcement and security professionals have attended the company s
interview and interrogation training programs since they were first offered in 1974. This technique is
based of nine steps:
The first step is the positive confrontation; the officer will present the fact from the case to the person
being interrogated. The officer will say that the person might be considered as a suspect because there
are proofs than connect him to the ongoing investigation.
The second step is the development of the theme, during the interrogation the interrogator will ask
why the suspect has committed the crime ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At this point the suspect should be on the breach of being defeated in his lies. This can be seen by
nonverbal behaviors such as long silent moments or putting elbow on the knees and posing his head
on his hands. This is the point in the interrogation when the suspect begins to confess and thus the
police officer has to keep a good contact with him.
The seventh step is about presenting an alternative, which means that the interrogator will present
another reason for why the suspect committed the crime.
The eighth step is called having the suspect orally relate various details of the offense , which means
that after the suspect accepted the fact that he is guilty, the officer should try to know more about the
crime and ask for details.
The ninth step is Converting an oral confession to a written confession. This is the final step where the
suspect will write his guilt.
The Reid technics is good when people are the real suspect and interrogator just need to have the oral
and the written consent of the crime. However, this technic can be very aggressive and misleading
when the person interrogated is just a witness. In fact, Gregg McCrary, a retired F.B.I. agent, said that
Reid technique has a tendency to see lies where they sometimes may not exist. They just assume they
re interviewing the guilty guy.

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The modern day controversies that have challenged the integrity of God s Word have necessitated the question of whether fundamentalism was ever sanctioned and orchestrated by God. The Holy Bible and historical reflection, and even, present day scientific data reveal that the origin of fundamentalism and its ongoing transformation is in fact God s healthy apparatus to preserve the integrity of the factual claims of Scripture. Thus, the rise of fundamentalism is God s manifestation to combat such spiritual apparitions as higher criticism and the contamination of the world s social gospel. The Rise of Fundamentalism Church history reveals that a number of serious biblical doctrinal controversies occurred during the late 1800s and early 1900s that gave occasion for the formulation of certain fundamentalist principals to be implemented as a clarification and remedy against unbiblical manifestations. The authority of the Bible was brought into serious question. During the years of 1910 1915 a Protestant layman, Lyman Stewart brought the word fundamentalism into focus in his effort to champion the integrity of Scripture. Mr. Stewart produced a series of pamphlets that were called The Fundamentals. 3 Lyman Stewart advocated for a literal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Why Is Karl Marx Considered Radical Karl Marx and His Radical Views Karl Marx[i] Karl Marx is among the most important and influential of all modern philosophers who expressed his ideas on humans in nature. According to the University of Dayton, the human person is part of a larger history of life on this planet. Through technology humans have the power to have an immense effect on that life. [ii] The people of his time found that the impact of the Industrial Revolution would further man s success within this world and would ensure his success as a species. Marx was extremely radical in finding that this was a positive impact on humans in nature. In order to understand why his views were considered radical, it is important to understand his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marx believed the workers were not collecting the benefits of the Industrial Revolution. Marx says that men are forced to work for natural survival. Marx also suggests that working men only have time to engage in the basic animalistic tendencies of a quest for survival. He says that man becomes alienated from nature and other humans as well. Marx is basically saying that man lived day by day, by day and he has nothing else to really live for. Marx thought that as the workers grew stronger, they would eventually rebel against the organization. In doing this, they would create a classless society where everyone would be equal and all property would be abolished. The basis of Marxism is the conviction that socialism is inevitable. Marx believed the free enterprise system, or capitalism, was doomed and that socialism was the only option[iv]. Obviously, this was not a favored philosophy with expanding industrialists, entrepreneurs, and existing political systems of the mid nineteenth century [v]. Marx wrote The Communist Manifesto with the German radical, Fredriech Engels, Fredriech Engels[vi] who was also Marx s best friend. The Communist Manifesto was a pamphlet written on the eve of the German Revolution in 1848. In his essay, Marx explains his radical theories on politics and history. Marx and Engels also examined the positive aspects of capitalism in The Communist Manifesto. They thought the bourgeoisie had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Roman Values In William Shakespeare s Julius Caesar In William Shakespeare s Julius Caesar, great emphasis is placed on what it means to be a good Roman. Honour, honesty, service, and dignity were among the qualities considered virtuous and which contributed to a sense of Roman duty. Along with the virtues, Shakespeare also seems to examine the nature of philosophical Stoicism. The treatment of constancy and Stoicism has many thematic and moral implications in Julius Caesar. In analysing Brutus supposedly noble character, Shakespeare calls into question Stoicism s place as a guide for human conduct. Roman values and their importance to the state play a central role in Julius Caesar. These values are portrayed as integral to the success of Rome, because the majority of these virtues act in favour of the state. Each person in Roman society has their own role which is part of a more important collective whole. Characters in the play seem to identify more with being a citizen or soul of Rome rather than a unique individual (Shakespeare, 2.1.323). The play emphasizes Rome as an alien society and analyses the relationship between Rome and the Romans, who see themselves as citizens, rather than men (Miles, 2). Shakespeare emphasizes the importance of the state over personal thoughts or feelings: not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more (Shakespeare, 3.2.21 22). Each of the Roman virtues arises out of a sense of duty to put the state over the self. Following this duty evokes a necessary recognition of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Karl Marx s View Of Contemporary Social Ills Power is present in every relationship and within each individual. Power is defined as a group s ability to make another group its subject or to make some desired action either by consensus or force. Within any organization or government, some elite groups make decisions that directly or indirectly affect the lives of the larger mass. Studies have shown that such decisions in most cases are made to service the elite s value and economic interests; property ownership or production. Such directions within the society cause resentment and inequality when the larger mass is not included in the decision making. The inequality makes the elite class to enforce their wishes and will on the less fortunate (Jessop 174). This essay seeks to give a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Between the two classes are small businesses which Marx calls them petty bourgeoisie , a group that is subject to either join the working class or the capitalists if surplus can be accommodated. In the ongoing industrial revolution the social surplus contributes to conflict where classes exist in the form of struggle for dominance or control over profits. Marx as a conflict theorist argued that the economy defines and dominates the societal structural change. He explained that social change and structure is a form of historical materialism that in the history come in two groups: the oppressor and the oppressed. Marx stated that the society is built on the exploitation of the oppressed. The struggle between the classes was what brought about the industrial revolution. This division and the struggle in the society have since never stopped, but instead there have been reestablishment of new classes, new oppression conditions, and new struggles replacing the old ones. The ancient societies e.g. the Roman and the Greek was built on slave labor and the two classes in conflict during those times were the slaves and patricians. The struggle between these classes resulted in the development of feudal societies that were developed on serf s labor under their opponent, the lords. The end of feudalism ushered in the capitalism, and Marx called the opposing forces in capitalist societies the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Growth of the Labour Party and the Decline of the Liberal Party At the end of World War One in November 1918 the Labour Party emerged as a strong political Party. Prior to this it was the Liberal Party that was expected to be the main opposition to the Conservatives, with Labour as a party who used the popularity of the Liberals to become noticed. However, it soon became apparent that the Liberals were a weak and flagging party who were unable to unite as one to make decisions. It is evident that the First World War may have been an important factor in the growth of Labour and the decline of the Liberals. It seems that the decline of the Liberals began with several problems that can be traced back to pre war times. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Liberals were hesitant to support women s suffrage because it was hard to know whom women would vote for. Between 1911 and 1914 the Suffragettes became increasingly militant as the Liberals refused to find parliamentary time to debate the question. The party claimed the issue was a constitutional not a moral question . The suffragette issue damaged the Liberals as their evident reluctance to treat it as a matter of belief weakened their moral standing. Their failure to resolve the issue proved to be a political embarrassment. Between 1908 and 1914 the position of Trade Unions legally improved, but these years also saw the most active period of Trade Union action. This included industrial unrest and much strike action. Two reasons have been given to justify this industrial unrest: syndicalism or a response to the current social and economic conditions. However, it is possible that the Liberal government were to blame for this industrial unrest. They were accused of not taking quick enough action to reverse the Osbourne judgement (where Trade Unions could not ask for a political levy) which was a great embarrassment to them. The political levy was declared illegal in 1909 after a union used part of the fees to fund the Labour Party. There was then a feeling that Liberals were determined to undermine the Labour ... He is also the most important character of the epic. The leader of the rebel angels in Heaven and the uncrowned monarch of Hell, Satan uses his words tactfully which helps know his personality. When we hear the word, Satan, we immediately think evil. Evilness is the trademark of Satan s personality but Satan actually has characteristics of a respectable person, which is quite evident through his speeches. • 12. Examples Of Push And Pull Factors On Mexican Immigration Mexico is an extremely important country, as far as immigration is concerned, in the world. It has a large amount of emigrants that leave their country each year. Many of these emigrants go to the United States. This has caused the Mexican immigration issue to become very popular. After research, we have found out a lot about the country of Mexico. One fact about Mexico is that it has multiple push and pull factors. A few examples of some of Mexico s pull factors are because of a beautiful landscape, lower costs of living, and affordable properties. These are all major factors in the moving process. Unfortunately, Mexico has a large amount of push factors as well. Some of these push factors are urbanization in the West, violence, and migration policies. It is clear by the amount of people migrating from, and to, Mexico that these are big factors in migration. According to Fox News, The Pew Research Center found that slightly more than 1 million Mexicans and their families, including American born children, left the U.S. for Mexico from 2009 to 2014 (Fox News). This shows how much pull factors are involved in Mexican immigration. Push and pull factors are a huge part of one of the world s biggest immigration issues, but their are other factors as well. One of those factors in Mexican immigration is the landscape of the country. His two older brothers owned a dry goods business called J. Strauss Brother Co located in New York City. After becoming more familiar with the trade and how the business worked, he traveled to California after word got out about the gold rush in 1853. Levi received a letter around 1872 from a loyal customer of his. Jacob Davis was a tailor from Reno, Nevada loved his design of pants and continued to buy from Levi because of the pant s quality. He had a proposition for Levi. In this letter it proposed on collaborating on a new design for pants were using metal rivets on the sections that go through the most strain, would make the pants last much longer. Jacob came to Levi because Levi was already established as a businessman and was familiar with the trade. Also he needed someone that was familiar with the trade to put this idea into action. Levi agreed to patent the idea. On May 20, 1873, the patent was given to Jacob Davis and the Levi Strauss Company and the blue jean was born. The iconic blue jeans were originally called XX. What would someone like me see in Columbus discoveries and enslavements? He introduced the Europeans to new products and ways of financial expansion. The discovery of the Americas also allowed new trading options and financial expansion which benefited all of Europe. What great length would one man go to for himself and his people? Although Columbus discoveries offered more trade and financial gain for Europe and himself, the consequences were more deadly than the gain could ever be fruitful for the natives. With the grazing animals that the Europeans brought over to the natives, also came a drop in vegetation which decreased their food supply. With the exchange of goods between the Europeans and the natives there was also an exchange of diseases. With the diseases such as smallpox, mumps, measles, and whooping cough, also came another called death. With these diseases spreading through the native villages, fifty to ninety percent of the native population died. With the decrease in native population also can a decrease in their resistance and ability to fight off the Europeans. Columbus began to think of the natives as future slave laborers. Many unsuccessful attempts were made to enslave the natives but each failed and Columbus gave up and started looking toward the West Africans. To men, they re selling women and coolness. For women, they re selling a stereotype, that she s submissive and used as a sex object. • 20. Nucleic Acid Investigation The purpose of the introductory activity was to analyze the pH of a mixture of a strong base and weak acid. The purpose of the guided inquiry lab was to analyze the concentration of sodium carbonate by titrating the substance using a nitic acid solution. Introductory Activity 5 mL of both 0.2 M ammonia and 0.1 M acetic acid were placed in separate test tubes and their pH was determined with pH paper. A mixture was created by pouring both together and its final pH was recorded. The strength of the acid and base was determined and whether the two had equal concentration. Each indicator was researched (its colors when it s acidic/basic and its pH transition range) and phenolphthalein was deemed suitable for this experiment. 5 mL of acetic acid was poured into a test tube and 1 2 drops of phenolphthalein were added. The initial color was recorded. 10 mL of ammonia was obtained in a graduated cylinder and using the graduated pipet, the base was added to the acid in 1 mL increments. Upon reaching the equivalence point, the indicator color and the amount of base required to obtain this point were recorded. The relative concentrations of the acid and base were then estimated. • 22. Age Related Macular Degeneration Essays Review: Age related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of blindness in people over the age of 50. Every ten years after the age of 50 the prevalence of this disease increases exponentially. Many different factors contribute to the development of AMD including genetic, environment, and metabolic functions. Aside from smoking, abnormal blood pressure, and an unhealthy diet low in fruits and vegetables, many more studies are concluding that similar inflammatory and oxidative processes seen in other age related diseases are also playing a key role in the development of AMD. This disease affects the central areas of the retina and choroid. In return central vision is impaired while peripheral vision is usually not lost. AMD is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dry Macular Degeneration: The early and most common form of AMD is called dry (atrophic) or nonneovascular macular degeneration. About 90% of AMD cases are known to be in this form. This form does not involve abnormal blood vessels and or leaking of fluid. Vision impairments are still great and potential of complete vision loss is still possible. People affected by dry AMD experience central vision impairments, limited area of central vision, and limited vision when in areas of reduced light. Dry AMD is thought to be the result of the retina breaking down because of the formation of deposits, known as drusen, under the macula. The macula is a small area within the retina that is responsible for central vision. It s believed that these deposits interfere with vitamin transport, oxygen transport, and waste removal in the aged eye directly affecting the macula causing it to thin and dry out, losing its function. Depending on how severe this thinning and degeneration of the retina is, vision impairments will vary. Macular degeneration in its early stages is associated with minimal vision impairments, large drusen, and other pigmentary abnormalities in the macula. Drusen are deposits of fatty proteins that accumulate below the basement membrane of the retinal pigment epithelium. People over the age of 50 years have at least one small hard drusen in one or both eyes. People with large, soft drusen are the ones at high risk for AMD. Hard ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Summary Of Brahms Symphony No. 4 Brahms wrote Symphony No. 4 in E Minor in 1884. The work was first performed in Meiningen, Germany in October 1885 and was an instant success because of its masterful composition and unique style. Brahms s music and his fourth symphony are often viewed as a bridge between the music of the baroque and romantic era. Although Brahms is considered to be a romantic composer, his music is unique from others because you can hear both the style of older era composers and features of romantic style in the texture of his works. This combination of baroque and romantic style in his music helps create more balance in the music, which gives it a blend that captured audiences and still entrances them today. Brahms was also inspired by study of Beethoven s symphonies for their orchestral color and harmonic structure; Brahms incorporates these features he enjoyed into his writing. The fourth movement of Brahms symphony No. 4 is titled Allegro energico e passianato and is known for its use of the Baroque style of Chaconne and other features that are found in the Romantic style as well. Some of these include chromaticism, a melody that jumps between major and minor keys but does not settle into a single mode, and extended techniques to creature a richness and a wide pallet of sounds. Brahms was a scholar and had a strong interest in Baroque music. His fourth movement makes use of the Chaconne style. Many times there are reports of serial killers or rapists pasted all over the media. Often, news channels will assume the perpetrator has some form of mental illness, such as schizophrenia. Consequently, many people associate schizophrenia with a negative stereotype associated with violence because of what they view in the media. In the scientific study, Portrayals of Schizophrenia by Entertainment Media: A Content Analysis of Contemporary Movies, the author reviewed 41 different films made between 1990 and 2010 with at least one main character that had schizophrenia. The study found most characters engaged in dangerous or violent behaviors toward themselves or others, and nearly a third engaged in homicidal behavior (Owen). Accordingly, the negative portrayals of those with schizophrenia in movies influence the stigma among the general public that schizophrenia is dangerous. Instinctually, people want to keep themselves safe and alive in their day to day lives, so having this negative reaction to schizophrenia will make them feel safer by avoiding those with the illness. The overall view of schizophrenia from society creates a negative public stigma. Solution: 1.1 Difference (1) GET is typically used to retrieve data from server that doesn t change anything on the server. POST is used to send data to server that somehow causes a change in the state of server, such as inserting data in a database. (2) On client side, GET uses URL to submit data and the data will be seen in URL. To submit data, POST puts data in HTML HEADER. (3) For GET, the server uses Request.QueryString to get the value of variables. For POST, the server uses Request.Form to get the data submitted. Commercial property can be tough to sell when values are declining, even when a fund is used. 4. Portfolio use 5. Due to the probable difficulty in selling commercial property holdings, commercial property is best used to expand your portfolio instead of as a core portfolio holding. Return expectations from commercial property There are two possible sources of investment return when it comes to commercial property. These are: 1. Capital growth: Capital growth refers basically to increases in the value of property. Capital growth has a tendency to be helpful in times of good financial growth; this can be uninteresting when growth is slow and damaging in downturns. Just as economic forecasting has a tendency to be a particularly undependable science, property price forecasting is likely to be unreliable and pose great differences of opinion. Gains and losses are to be expected, but may in the end even them out. 2. Rental yield: In due course, rental profit is likely to be a grander contributor to profits than capital growth, along with being significantly more dependable. In times when rental yields are great in comparison to government bond yields, it could be wise time to invest in commercial property. One main reason is that the Paleolithic men were much healthier than the Neolithic men in the ways that, Paleolithic men were foragers and they moved their food which led them to not staying in one spot permanently. This means that sickness and diseases were not easily passed on. Unlike the Neolithic men who did have permanent settlements and had illness passed around quite easily. Another reason is that the Paleolithic people had a healthy balanced diet. The Paleolithic people had a main diet of meat, fruits, vegetables, and wild grains. Whereto the Neolithic people had a main diet of wheat, yams, corn, rice, and maze. As we ve seen in paragraph one grains make your bones thinner, decrease your height, and make you have crooked teeth. That doesn t just effect a couple of people though. That effect your whole clan or colony which can be a lot of people. LITERATURE REVIEW: Human resource professionals and academics can be broadly divided into two groups. The first group advocates that only monetary benefits would motivate and ultimately retain employees whereas the second group considers intrinsic motivators more important than salary, bonus and other monetary perks. Michael Armstrong in his book Human resource management practice discusses that reward system must encourage employees to achieve corporate objectives (Armstrong, 2003, pp. 613 630). The writer believes that employees remain motivated if they are rewarded to achieve goals of a company. And when they are motivated they will stay with a company. Taylor and the Instrumentality theory also support Armstrong s approach (Armstrong, 2003, pp. 217 230). According to both of these theories people only work for money and one action gives rise to another . That means if people are rewarded they will be motivated and if they are motivated they will not leave a company. However Taylors completely ignores social needs of human beings and confuses them with machines. Other academics hold completely different view about retention and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. The Most Controversial Form Of Classroom Discipline As centuries have progressed, there have been many different opinions regarding classroom discipline and how to achieve the optimal learning environment. Teachers have individually found their comfort zones regarding the form of discipline that they enforce in their classroom. The most controversial form of disciplinary action throughout history is corporal punishment, such as paddling or hitting hands. Other forms of discipline typically used have been writing off , public shaming, and suspension. It is now believed that Student Oriented Discipline is most beneficial for the student, the teacher, and other classmates. By 1910, it was mandated that children attend public schools. At this point, teachers began assuming disciplinary roles since students were spending most of their day at school. It was believed that they, along with parents, were responsible for raising moral beings. The court systems had begun to separate adult and juvenile punishments and believed that children should be rehabilitated, not physically punished. In the beginning of the 20th century, the idea was that children should sit in the classroom and the teacher would transfer his or her knowledge to them. Strict discipline was a part of this classroom control. Acceptable forms of disciplinary action were paddlings. Judith Kafka, a professor and author, stated that A lot of reformers... who said this is not any way to raise moral beings and we should not beat children into submission, but ... Common characteristics of classical music include strong dynamics, changing rhythms, simplistic melodies, and homophony (Tomlinson and Kerman 155 158). When focusing on the aria played in The Shawshank Redemption, one hears the natural use of the voice. We re not asking the voice to do anything that it really doesn t want to do, and it s naturally dramatic (Greenberg). The homophonic music accompanies Susanna s aria, but does not over power her voice; it is simple. The changing rhythms and dynamics express Susanna s emotions as music during the Enlightenment was considered akin to the motions of the human soul, from which it follows that music is able to apprehend and convey the impulses and moods of the human soul (Lang 96). These feelings, however, are not those of the Church or government institution; they are the feelings of a servant who wants to marry Fiagaro and the Countess, who is conspiring against her husband. Another introduction in comic opera was the ensemble, a number sung by two or more people (Tomlinson and Kerman 189). The ensemble allows the characters, Susanna and the Countess, to express their emotions simultaneously. The amphora storage jar is made out of terracotta and it is eleven inches in height. Then it was painted on with black and brown paint. This jars colors are used to create contrast, the lines are used to unify it, the shapes on the object are the most important part of the image and patterns are used on the jar to help fill the space on the jar. Therefore colors are used to create contrast. There are three different colors on the jar: the natural color of the terracotta, the brown paint and the black paint. Since terracotta is a neutral color it provides an excellent background for the painting. Black is a very dark color and it makes the people and the designs stick out. People use black paint when they want their design to be important. Brown is a neutral color and it is used to show the not so prominent part of the image. The little bit of brown paint shows the ground the people are standing on. It also unifies the other places where it appears. Looking at the top there is a pattern painted with both the black and brown paint to show contrast. After contrast is seen unity is also seen with lines. Lines are used to unify the artistic image on the Greek storage jar. The thicker the line the more important it is, the thinner the line the less important it is. According to the company website, over 500,000 law enforcement and security professionals have attended the company s interview and interrogation training programs since they were first offered in 1974. This technique is based of nine steps: The first step is the positive confrontation; the officer will present the fact from the case to the person being interrogated. The officer will say that the person might be considered as a suspect because there are proofs than connect him to the ongoing investigation. The second step is the development of the theme, during the interrogation the interrogator will ask why the suspect has committed the crime ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At this point the suspect should be on the breach of being defeated in his lies. This can be seen by nonverbal behaviors such as long silent moments or putting elbow on the knees and posing his head on his hands. This is the point in the interrogation when the suspect begins to confess and thus the police officer has to keep a good contact with him. The seventh step is about presenting an alternative, which means that the interrogator will present another reason for why the suspect committed the crime. The eighth step is called having the suspect orally relate various details of the offense , which means that after the suspect accepted the fact that he is guilty, the officer should try to know more about the crime and ask for details. The ninth step is Converting an oral confession to a written confession. This is the final step where the suspect will write his guilt. The Reid technics is good when people are the real suspect and interrogator just need to have the oral and the written consent of the crime. However, this technic can be very aggressive and misleading when the person interrogated is just a witness. In fact, Gregg McCrary, a retired F.B.I. agent, said that Reid technique has a tendency to see lies where they sometimes may not exist. They just assume they re interviewing the guilty guy.
