Different Empirical Research Studies From The Book The...
Two empirical research studies were compared in the comparison matrix.
The articles were located in the Grand Canyon University library. Article one written by Baum and
Locke (2004) is entitled: The Relationship of Entrepreneurial Traits, Skill, and Motivation to
Subsequent Venture Growth. Article two written by Connelly, et al. (2000), is entitled: Exploring the
Relationship of Leadership Skills and Knowledge to Leader Performance. Article one contributes to
the dread of personal characteristic and the effects they may have on entrepreneur, was to examine
military leaders, and civilian leadership skills which are critical to being a successful leader. Article
two examines leadership characteristics and capabilities. . Baum and Locke (2004) study contributes
to the revival of interest in understanding the effects of entrepreneurs personal characteristics,
importance between the relationship of traits and subsequent venture growth among entrepreneurs.
Connelly, et al (2000) argues that, the nature of the leader capacities impact leader behavior and
performance. Baum and Locke (2004) researched entrepreneurial traits, skill, motivation and winter
growth.
The queries in the study addressed several hypotheses: (RQ1): Does passion and tenacity directly
predict venture growth? (RQ2): What direct effects are related to venture development? (RQ3): Does
passion and tenacity increase skills among entrepreneurs? (RQ4): Does tenacity and passion have an

Lord Peter Analysis
Lord Peter loves the thrill a new assignment can bring, just as any other person can enjoy discovering
something new or does what they truly love. People get tired of routine and of bland circumstances,
which is why Lord Peter addresses why the case he is working on does not fulfill him. He says,
Competent, of course, but no imagination. I want imagination in a criminal. (50). When something is
done with imagination, it is usually well thought and done. If anyone tries to figure out how that work
was gone, it is hard because of the amount of thought process that was put in it. It is no fun to know
everything because there is not any mystery or point to what is being done. Lord Peter seems to think
that these cases have no point and asks his valet to restrain him from starting two hares at once. ...

One hare has nowhere to run from, and the other has nowhere to run to (59). He compares the cases to
hares, hinting that they are quite insignificant and there is no beginning or end to them. He believes
there is not much he can do and thinks it best to not continue with them. Just like books, in many
cases, are used for pure entertainment these projects are a method of entertainment in Lord Peter s life.
He explains, It s a hobby to me, you see. I took it up when the bottom of things was knocked out for
me, because it was so damned exciting, and the worst of it is, I enjoy it up to a point. If it was all on
paper I d enjoy every bit of it. I love the beginning of a job when one doesn t know any of the people
and it s just exciting and amusing. But if it comes to really running down a live person and getting him
hanged [...] there don t seem as if there was any excuse for me buttin in, since I don t have to make a
livin by it. And I feel as if I oughtn t ever to find it amusin . But I do (89 90). Lord Peter criticises

Paleolithic vs Neolithic Cc Essay
Human existence has lasted over several million years and in that time there has been countless
advances in the way we live. Human history has had many diverse periods of time, one being the
Stone Age. During the Stone Age there were two major subdivisions, the Paleolithic and Neolithic
periods. The Paleolithic, which lasted until about 10,000 years ago, had a significant separating factor
from the Neolithic, ending in 2000 B.C.E. This factor was the way in which the people in these
periods acquired food. The Paleolithic people hunted and gathered their food while the Neolithic
people produced their own food by agriculture. These two different styles of obtaining food greatly
affected the lifestyles of each period s people. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the Neolithic period economics seemed to have played a bigger role than in the Paleolithic age.
This was mostly because of the agricultural advancement which had a significant function in their
economic system. They had surpluses of food which allowed them to trade and sell. Also having
something to barter with enabled them to buy better tools and equipment for farming. This was not so
with the Paleolithic people since they hunted and gathered their food. Since they relied on themselves
they had no reason to trade or sell. They only depended on their handmade stone and bone tools. The
only similarity between these two periods was that their lives revolved around their need for food. The
social lives of the Paleolithic foragers greatly differ from that of the Neolithic farmers. This is mostly
because of their way of acquiring food. The foragers had plenty of time after they hunted and gathered
there food because that was all they had to do while the farmers constantly had to maintain their fields.
The foragers spent their free time making art such as cave painting and constructing tools. With what
little time the farmers had they used it to build structures, tools and containers for the next harvest.
One thing they both had in common was the specific jobs that they assigned to men and women based
on each gender s abilities. In the Paleolithic time the men were the hunters, since they were more
muscular,

Importance Of Erformance Tuning And Partitioning
erformance tuning and partitioning go hand in hand, in that partitioning is one you can take to tune
performance from a database level, so I will start out with explaining tuning and then go into detail
about partitioning.
Performance tuning can take place from a DBA perspective, at the full database level, or from a
Developer perspective, on the level of individual packages/procedures/functions and SQL queries.
Before initiating performance tuning, you need to know where your performance bottlenecks are.
There are a number of ways a DBA can determine where the bottlenecks are, including AWR reports,
which can show the DBA what areas show the highest wait times. Once the specific SQL statements
or PL/SQL code has been targeted, we can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once a table is partitioned, it is easier and faster to access the data in the table, because a query can
access just one or a group of partitions on the table, rather than accessing all of the data in the parent
table. You can even specify a partition to use in your query. Queries can also work in parallel on the
table, running through multiple partitions at once, which is especially helpful if you find you can t
avoid a full table scan. So, even if your partitions aren t set up logically to your query, there is a
performance improvement to partitioning. There are several options for the type of partitioning you
can do. One common method is to partition by a range of data, for instance a date range. This is
helpful if your table has a lot of historical data, and only the newest data is normally accessed or
updated, rather than accessing ALL of the historical data, you can access just the latest data. It s
possible, on the other hand, that your table is usually accessed by a column with distinct values, such
as a department id, in which case it might be better to use list partitioning, or you could have a
composite partition, such as a range list partition, such as organizing the partitions by department id
and a date. There is a drawback to partitioning in that you have to specify each of the partitions. If you

International Standard For Quality Management Systems
Introduction
This document is an overview of the ISO 9001:2008 international standard for quality management
systems developed by the International Organization for Standardization with the intent to give
specific requirements to companies and organizations on methods to enhance customer satisfaction
and meet statutory and regulatory requirements by improving effectiveness and performance of their
quality management systems. The overview will cover the requirement, certification procedures and
benefits of ISO9001 certification.
History
Quality management systems owe their basis to the the military industry. In fact the origins of
ISO9000 series of standards dates back to fifties, during the development of a nuclear submarine in
the US which had issues with contractors causing delays and quality breakdowns. As the result of the
research of that project the foundations of quality management were developed and other important
military standards were born such as NASA s and British Defence s quality management standards. In
1971 the British Standard Institute applied a QMS to electronics industry with the BS 9000 and, later
on, in the manufacturing industry in 1979,publishing the BS 5750 from which the ISO9000 series of
standard, published in 1987, is heavily based. After its revision in 1994 the ISO 9000 added separate
ISO 9001, 9002 and 9003 standards for different industries becoming the reference quality
management system standard in different nations and

Telecommunication, Real Estate, And Software Industries

process for the telecommunication, real estate, and software industries. In this section, we will go
through an example that illustrates the potential changes for each industry. 3.1 The telecommunication
industry In the telecommunication industry, month to month contracts are frequent. In accordance with
the update, these entities would need to treat each month as a separate contract unless the renewal
options provide the customer with a material right (EY, 2015, p.6). This is the contract by contract
basis. The standard does allow for a portfolio approach in which, similar contracts are grouped and

Designing A New Branch Leader
After reading Chapter 9 and looking back on my time spent working two summers at a grain elevator
which also had its own agronomy department (using science and technology to help produce better
crop yields), it became noticeably clearer that the company I was working for was making
arrangements to hire a new branch leader. The elevator that I worked for was one of two branches for
the larger company. The company has three branch managers along with a person in charge of
overseeing the entire operation. My first summer the branch that I was working for hired a recent
college graduate to aid the current branch manager with the day to day operations of the company. He
was asked to have his hand in everything that took place within our branch of the company. Working
three months that summer, I got to see the development procedures that they were putting him
through. Although it did not apply to me, being a coach, I paid attention to the things they were having
him, potentially hearing or seeing something that could benefit me in my profession. With him starting
just a week after I had started, it allowed me to essentially everything they had designed for him
thorough those first three months. Throughout the first month and a half, he was sitting near the head
of the table for company meetings, sitting in on meetings with customers, and doing ride alongs to
check fields and perform soil samples. Everything that a branch manager would do, he was doing.
That whole summer, he was

Describe The Pre-Approval Process Of Purchasing A Martgage
If you are a first time homebuyer and you have no idea if you are a good candidate for a mortgage,
take the steps to get pre qualified by a mortgage lender, and then get pre approved. There is a
difference between getting prequalified and pre approved, and by getting pre qualified you can
determine if pursuing a mortgage will be worth your efforts. For the pre qualification process, you will
be asked a variety of questions about your income, debt, credit score and rating, and other
information. This allows the mortgage lender to get enough information to decide if you could be a
potential candidate, and what you could afford.
The pre qualification process won t require that you have your credit score pulled, which could
negatively affect your credit. There are credit repair programs and other options for those who aren t
pre qualified, and who want to get on the right track to purchasing a home. If the pre qualification
comes back that you are approved, you ll want to explore your mortgage options and start shopping
for the lender that offers a great low interest rate. Once you find a company that offers a low interest

Eradication, Extinction, And Control
1. Define eradication, extinction, elimination, and control.
a) Eradication as permanent reduction to zero of the worldwide incidence of a disease or an infection
and with further intervention no longer needed, once interruption of transmission has been certified
worldwide,.
b) Extinction of the disease means the specific infectious agent no longer exists in nature or even in
the laboratory.
c) Elimination: reduction to zero of the occurrence of a disease or an infection in a defined
geographical area, continued measures to prevent re emergence and re establishment of transmission
are required.
d) Control is associated to the reduction in the incidence (the number of new cases per population at
risk in a given time period), prevalence (the proportion of the population found to have a condition) of
an infectious disease to an acceptable level within a specified area.
2. Describe the characteristics of smallpox that made it an appropriate candidate for eradication.
The following indicators were considered to be of primary importance for the eradication of smallpox:
a) an effective intervention is available to interrupt transmission of the agent;
b) practical diagnostic tools with sufficient sensitivity and specificity to detect levels of infection and
also possibility of transmission;
c) smallpox was transmitted people to people through the air without an intervening vector, and no
other possible reservoir in the environment;

Buller Whistle Syndrome Analysis
The buller steer syndrome commonly observed in feedlots is an abnormal, aberrant behavioral and
social condition in which steers repeatedly mount another steer. The steer being mounted is called the
buller and the steer riding is called the rider . As a consequence of the excessive riding, the buller steer
often becomes exhausted, shows loss of hair, can develop swelling and trauma along the dorsal line
and tail head, and in extreme cases can suffer from broken bones or may even die from injuries. There
appears to be various degrees to bulling activity; some riding activity is relatively harmless and falls
under the category of horseplay. On the other end of the spectrum we have serious bulling activity in
which normal steers vigorously ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Riding is therefore more likely a way for a steer to exert dominance over another steer. The mounting
behavior seen among feedlot buller steers is more likely to be related to social behavior, since in wild
species of ungulates which are in the same taxonomic family as domestic beef cattle, submissive
behavior is expressed by allowing the dominant animal to mount. One observational study by Klem et
al. (1983) found that bullers were actually more aggressive than riders and the authors postulated that
bullers may not be readily submitting to dominant riders. Social hierarchies between cattle appear to
play a role in the generation of bullers in a feedlot setting. Dominant steers are naturally more
aggressive than other steers in the pen, so they like to establish their dominance. Not surprisingly,
when steers first arrive at a feedlot and are penned together, the number of bullers is at its highest.
When animals are re grouped, the number of bullers rises again as new pen members establish their
social status. There is also evidence that suggests the expression of social dominance occurs more
often in pens with large numbers of animals (Grognet, 2004; Brower and Kiracofe, 1978; Irwin et al.,

Advantage And Disadvantage Of Water Bladders
The advantage of using the hydration bladder
Carrying water along with us can be a little tricky in conditions where lightness matters because we
have struggled to find the right balance between a light alternative for water bottles and a medium to
keep it durable enough to take a beating in the tough conditions outside. This is what helped in
developing the ultimate light and durable outdoor kit for carrying water easily.
The development aided the creation of the first ever hydration water bladder which is one of the best
ways through which one can easily carry a good amount of water while on the go. This bladder
consists of a tough exterior which is designed to take a lot of impacts as well as withstand the

durability. The hydration bladder has been extensively tested in very tough environments before it was

Similarities Between Achaemenid And Greek Empires
The Achaemenid Empire was one of the strongest empires in Southwest Asia during the first
millennium B.C.E. Courageous and skilled Persian conquerors allowed Persian rule to spread beyond
Persian territory, creating one of the largest early empires (Dunn Mitchell, 2014). However, across the
Mediterranean Sea was dwelled a more advanced empire with a stronger military, the Greeks (Dunn
Mitchell, 2014). These prominent early empires possessed many similarities and held the ultimate goal
of building and maintaining an advanced empire and society. Yet, their Southwestern and Afro
Eurasian cultures consisted of several different beliefs and ways of life. The 5th and 6th century B.C.E
polytheistic Greek traditions tremendously differed from the religion of the Achaemenid Empire,
which believed solely in Ahu Mazda, the supreme god (Dunn Mitchell, 2014). The political structures
of the Achaemenid and Greek Empires were also vastly dissimilar, unlike the united Achammenid
Empire; Greece consisted of several poleis (city states) (Dunn Mitchell, 2014). The ... Show more

However, the emperor and his entourage moved throughout Persia, thus there was no specific capital

Their early popularity and dominance among Southwestern territory resulted in their universal mission

Case Study Analysis Paper 1: A Tale of Two Coaches
Based on our learning from week one of our class, the purpose of this paper is to discuss the
leadership perspectives manifested in both Bobby Knight and Mike Krzyzewski, coaches who have
made significant marks in their field in college basketball. I hope to be able to identify the power
bases both coaches rely upon, as well as whether their actions are more aligned with either a
managerial role or leadership role. In addition, I hope to identify how significant the leadership traits
have influenced their leadership, based on the five factor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Coach K clearly shows all the traits of agreeableness, which is the extent to which a person is
generous, kind, appreciative, sympathetic, forgiving, and trusting. Also both coaches can be said to be
conscientiousness, as they are efficient, organized, reliable, responsible, and thorough in their pursuit
of excellence. Coach Knight clearly displays neuroticism and his unstable, self pitying, touchy,
anxious, tense, and worrisome attitude comes clearly through as displayed through rants and berating
of his players. I can also agree that both coaches are open to experience, as their coaching skills
although one hundred and eighty degrees apart, do show signs of introspective, imaginative,
insightful, and originality, and both have a wide range of interests outside of basketball. In conclusion,
Although Coach K was originally mentored by Coach Knight as both a player and as an assistant
coach; they both have adopted different styles of leadership. They appear to be almost polar opposites,
yet have both managed to have done well in their respective field. As the late Emanuel Rohn once
said, The challenge of leadership is to be strong but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not a
bully; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant; have humor, but without folly . If only
Coach Knight had followed this simple statement, how much further would he have gone?

The Hawthorne Pros And Cons
RE: The Manor (Mr. Quixotic Malicious Lullaby) Hawthorne s demeanour, along with the atmosphere

Military Dedication Research Paper
Dedication in the Military The word Dedication can be used to describe many things, such as
dedicating a work of art to a person or group of people. Additionally, dedicating a new building or
roadway to commemorate its completion is a form of dedication. What Dedication means to the
military member is something different all together and something not many get to experience. No
matter what branch of service or what country you serve, the dedication is the same for all. Though the
history of each branch of the armed forces is different, the dedication is the same. The willingness to

As I consider horror to be one of my favorite movie genres, I didn t go and see Split with my
expectations super high. Occasionally, I ll come across something authentically creepy, Like Stephen
King s Pet Sematary or Ridley Scott s Alien, however many horror flicks can fall on their faces before

Throughout the movie, there were multiple flashbacks to Casey s (Anya Taylor Joy) past. In these
memories, there were allusions to childhood abuse, death, and overall confusion. The flashbacks were
intended to add more to Casey s character and her determination to live, but they were so poorly
presented that it left more holes in her character than development.
Luckily, even movies that make me cry from how awful they are have their silver linings. McAvoy
was a shining light in the dark pit that this movie fell in. His ability to portray many different
characters within one movie is admirable and entertaining, and not only was he going off camera as
one person and on as another, he was capable of shifting personalities on screen. He captured the
ability to physically show the mental morphing between personalities while remaining an absolutely
phenomenal actor.
Although McAvoy provided some sort of appeal in the movie, I would prefer to have those two hours
of my life back. Split lacked any sort of excitement and anticipation; in fact, it was absolutely boring.

The Story Of Rapunzel In Disney And The Grim Brothers
Disney is a name most households know. The Grim Brothers were a household name. They tell them
same stories sometimes. They both want to help children but they go about it in two very different
ways. Disney gives good and happy ending fantasies. The grim brothers give reality no matter if it was
happy or evil. They both help children but are they the same? Let s look at the some of the differences
to see. Disney s Tangled is a story about Rapunzel. Rapunzel and her mom are saved by the healing
flower. Because of this Gothel kidnaped Rapunzel to still have the flower s power to make her young.
When Rapunzel grows up in a tower in the middle of a forest. She thinks that Gothel is her mother but
later realizes that to be false. She grows up to be independent and to have courage. She runs away
from the only home she knows to see the floating lights up close. Finn goes to the tower to hide but
Rapunzel knocks him out and hides the stolen haul that he had. She then tells him that he will not get
it back till he takes her to see the floating lights. He agrees to the deal seeing how it was his only
option. They go to see the floating lights but when they get there they find out that Rapunzel is the
missing princess. The meaning that Disney wants one know is life needs adventure to spice it up. The
character that goes thru the most change is Rapunzel herself. She goes from a good daughter to a
strong independent woman in a short period. The character that has the second most change

According to the EPA, two of the best and most effective ways to conserve water include metering and
drip irrigation ( How to Conserve Water and Use It Effectively ). Metering is effective because
surcharges also give customers a financial incentive to use less water on landscaped areas (Vickers
340). If home and business owners meter their water, then these people will tend to use less water
because they can control the flow of water during the day and night. They can set specific times to
have the water on. Also, metering shows how much water a household or industry is using, and by
being able to observe the amount of water used, water is conserved because water bills increase. One
drawback to metering is that it has an initial start up cost. While it does cost an initial deposit to
install, metering eventually saves money and conserves water. Studies show that metering reduces
water usage and saves money in the long term (Vickers 382). Not only does metering systems need to
be implemented into Arizona s households and industries, but also drip irrigation needs to be used

Describe The Causes And Effects Of Vitamin D
1.1 Vitamin D
Vitamin D is responsible for regulating the passage of calcium (Ca 2+ ) to the bones. Therefore, if
vitamin D is missing, this step does not occur and the bones begin to weaken and curl causing
irreversible malformations: rickets. This disease especially affects children.
Vitamin D plays an important role in the maintenance of organs and systems through multiple
functions, such as: the regulation of calcium and phosphorus levels in the blood, promoting the
intestinal absorption of them from food and reabsorption of calcium at the renal level. With this it
contributes to bone formation and mineralization, being essential for the development of the skeleton.
However, in very high doses, it can lead to bone resorption.
It also inhibits the secretions of parathyroid hormone (PTH) from the parathyroid gland and affects the
immune system due to its immunosuppressive role, promotion of phagocytosis and antitumor activity.
It is estimated that 1000 IU per day is the amount of vitamin D sufficient for a healthy adult
individual, whether male or female.
1.2.1 Mechanism
Vitamin D is a prohormone, so it has no hormonal activity by itself, but it is converted to the active
hormone (calcitriol) through a highly regulated synthesis mechanism. The synthesis of cholesterol in
the liver by means of Acetyl CoA is the first step, after several complex changes we reach an
intermediate called 7 dehydrocholesterol. When the UV rays have contact with the skin, this 7
dehydrocholesterol has transformations producing vitamin D3. This vitamin D3 is not biologically
active therefore must be subjected to two hydroxylations: the first in the liver forming 25
hydroxycholecalciferol (calcidiol) and the second in the kidney forming 1,25 dihydroxycholecalciferol
also called calcitriol (active form). Vitamin D2 follows the same process (without the need for UV
rays) to form 1,25 dihydroxiergocalciferol. 7 The production of vitamin D in nature, apparently
requires the presence of UV rays, even vitamin E in edible food is ultimately derived from organisms;
from mushrooms or fungi to animals, which cannot synthesize it except through the action of solar
rays, at some point in the synthetic chain. For example, fish contain vitamin

Comparing Two Poems
Compare and Contrast Poems can have many types of hidden messages. It all depends on how you
interpret them. In poems somethings are literal and others are just figurative. My two poems are The
Village Blacksmith by famous poet, Emily Dickinson, and Morning Song by another well known poet,
Sylvia Plath. The Village Blacksmith is about the dedication it takes to not only be a blacksmith, but to
also be a single parent. Morning Song is about a new mom that learns that being a parent isn t what it
is cracked up to be. The poems, Morning Song and The Village Blacksmith both have a lot in common
by both having enjambment, imagery, and stanza. These poems have allowed me understand the
different viewpoints on how parents feel about their kids, weather it is dolorous or adore. ... Show

For example, in The Village Blacksmith the poetic device enjambment is, And Children coming home
from school / Look in at the open door (20). The reason why I used this line from the poem is because
the sentence isn t finished, but it continues onto another line. It ends on the word school and continues
on the next line from the word look. The example of the poetic device in the poem, Morning Song is I
m no more your mother / Than the clouds that distil a mirror to reflect its own slow / Effacement at the
wind s hand (7 9). Enjambment happens in this line three times, so this makes it a strong example.
Both of these are great examples that can unmistakably show what the poetic device, enjambment

Security Cameras In Public Safety And Safety In Schools
Standing in the english classroom, I realized that my phone was nowhere to be found. As I searched
through my belongings, I began to feel a sense of despair and disbelief. I wondered if I could have left
my phone in another class; the bathroom; at lunch; or even worse, if someone had stolen it. After
investigating each area, I still could not find my phone. Suddenly, I realized that the school might have
security cameras that may locate the phone. However, I was shocked to learn that the school did not
have such surveillance cameras. The use of security cameras may have helped avoid this situation. In
regards to public safety and welfare, security cameras provide an effective way to oversee individuals
and their actions. Schools should continue their surveillance practices to maintain safety and ensure
justice for crimes or other offences.
Security cameras are beneficial because the safety of students will be increased. Fights and stealing
can be caught on camera and then the people involved can receive consequences for their actions. For
example, if my chromebook is stolen in school, the security cameras can be checked. The cameras will
show who took the stolen item, and they will receive necessary consequences. As a result, people
would have less items stolen from them. Individuals that were involved in fights can also be caught.
Administrators will not be relying on the stories of the ones involved, but on reliable cameras.
Therefore, overall, the security

Just War Theory
During President Richard Nixon s term, he advocated for Vietnamization, to remove American troops

South Vietnam by directing American troops to terminate Communist supply bases in Cambodia. This

the area, the U.S. soldiers decided to execute 504 of the 700 My Lai inhabitants in gruesome manners.
Vietnamese women were raped while other noncombatants were clubbed and stabbed. Some victims

According to the Just War theory, just war is separated into two domains. First is the motivation
behind entering war, and second is the means used during warfare (Hu, 2). The first judgment signifies
justice of war, or jus ad bellum that evaluates the terms of a just versus unjust war. The second
signifies justice in war, or jus in bello, which essentially measures whether or not the ends justify the
means. The relationship between jus ad bellum and jus in bello are independent of each other,

The Role of God in Miracles
In the Christian faith, miracles are critical and authentic to the Gospels. A miracle is a difficult term to
define because it depends on the individual s perspective and experience. Generally speaking, miracles
can be considered to be natural and unnatural acts of God or series of unlikely events occurring
concurrently coincidences. I believe miracles and coincidences can both be seen as a series of unlikely
event, but miracles have a God component to it. Coincidences on the other hand, do not involve God
and are non existent.
I view miracles and coincidences as epistemic. It is because of our lack of ability to predict the future
that when unexpected events occur, they can be viewed as either coincidences or miracles. For
example, if a woman was supposed to die because of a failing immune system by a certain time
period, but lived beyond that time period, then foreseeing the woman s survival was impossible
because human knowledge is limited to the present. Furthermore, this incident can be considered a
miracle for a religious person or a coincidence for an atheist. From an atheist point of view, the
woman s survival was due her immune system coincidentally being able able to randomly support life
longer than expected without God s involvement. For a person of faith, the woman s survival is seen
as a miracle because it is an unlikely event that could have only occurred due to God s purposeful
intervention.
I don t believe in coincidences because every instance in life

  • 3. Lord Peter Analysis Lord Peter loves the thrill a new assignment can bring, just as any other person can enjoy discovering something new or does what they truly love. People get tired of routine and of bland circumstances, which is why Lord Peter addresses why the case he is working on does not fulfill him. He says, Competent, of course, but no imagination. I want imagination in a criminal. (50). When something is done with imagination, it is usually well thought and done. If anyone tries to figure out how that work was gone, it is hard because of the amount of thought process that was put in it. It is no fun to know everything because there is not any mystery or point to what is being done. Lord Peter seems to think that these cases have no point and asks his valet to restrain him from starting two hares at once. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One hare has nowhere to run from, and the other has nowhere to run to (59). He compares the cases to hares, hinting that they are quite insignificant and there is no beginning or end to them. He believes there is not much he can do and thinks it best to not continue with them. Just like books, in many cases, are used for pure entertainment these projects are a method of entertainment in Lord Peter s life. He explains, It s a hobby to me, you see. I took it up when the bottom of things was knocked out for me, because it was so damned exciting, and the worst of it is, I enjoy it up to a point. If it was all on paper I d enjoy every bit of it. I love the beginning of a job when one doesn t know any of the people and it s just exciting and amusing. But if it comes to really running down a live person and getting him hanged [...] there don t seem as if there was any excuse for me buttin in, since I don t have to make a livin by it. And I feel as if I oughtn t ever to find it amusin . But I do (89 90). Lord Peter criticises himself more than anyone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Paleolithic vs Neolithic Cc Essay Human existence has lasted over several million years and in that time there has been countless advances in the way we live. Human history has had many diverse periods of time, one being the Stone Age. During the Stone Age there were two major subdivisions, the Paleolithic and Neolithic periods. The Paleolithic, which lasted until about 10,000 years ago, had a significant separating factor from the Neolithic, ending in 2000 B.C.E. This factor was the way in which the people in these periods acquired food. The Paleolithic people hunted and gathered their food while the Neolithic people produced their own food by agriculture. These two different styles of obtaining food greatly affected the lifestyles of each period s people. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the Neolithic period economics seemed to have played a bigger role than in the Paleolithic age. This was mostly because of the agricultural advancement which had a significant function in their economic system. They had surpluses of food which allowed them to trade and sell. Also having something to barter with enabled them to buy better tools and equipment for farming. This was not so with the Paleolithic people since they hunted and gathered their food. Since they relied on themselves they had no reason to trade or sell. They only depended on their handmade stone and bone tools. The only similarity between these two periods was that their lives revolved around their need for food. The social lives of the Paleolithic foragers greatly differ from that of the Neolithic farmers. This is mostly because of their way of acquiring food. The foragers had plenty of time after they hunted and gathered there food because that was all they had to do while the farmers constantly had to maintain their fields. The foragers spent their free time making art such as cave painting and constructing tools. With what little time the farmers had they used it to build structures, tools and containers for the next harvest. One thing they both had in common was the specific jobs that they assigned to men and women based on each gender s abilities. In the Paleolithic time the men were the hunters, since they were more muscular, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Importance Of Erformance Tuning And Partitioning erformance tuning and partitioning go hand in hand, in that partitioning is one you can take to tune performance from a database level, so I will start out with explaining tuning and then go into detail about partitioning. Performance tuning can take place from a DBA perspective, at the full database level, or from a Developer perspective, on the level of individual packages/procedures/functions and SQL queries. Before initiating performance tuning, you need to know where your performance bottlenecks are. There are a number of ways a DBA can determine where the bottlenecks are, including AWR reports, which can show the DBA what areas show the highest wait times. Once the specific SQL statements or PL/SQL code has been targeted, we can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once a table is partitioned, it is easier and faster to access the data in the table, because a query can access just one or a group of partitions on the table, rather than accessing all of the data in the parent table. You can even specify a partition to use in your query. Queries can also work in parallel on the table, running through multiple partitions at once, which is especially helpful if you find you can t avoid a full table scan. So, even if your partitions aren t set up logically to your query, there is a performance improvement to partitioning. There are several options for the type of partitioning you can do. One common method is to partition by a range of data, for instance a date range. This is helpful if your table has a lot of historical data, and only the newest data is normally accessed or updated, rather than accessing ALL of the historical data, you can access just the latest data. It s possible, on the other hand, that your table is usually accessed by a column with distinct values, such as a department id, in which case it might be better to use list partitioning, or you could have a composite partition, such as a range list partition, such as organizing the partitions by department id and a date. There is a drawback to partitioning in that you have to specify each of the partitions. If you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

International Standard For Quality Management Systems Introduction This document is an overview of the ISO 9001:2008 international standard for quality management systems developed by the International Organization for Standardization with the intent to give specific requirements to companies and organizations on methods to enhance customer satisfaction and meet statutory and regulatory requirements by improving effectiveness and performance of their quality management systems. As the result of the research of that project the foundations of quality management were developed and other important military standards were born such as NASA s and British Defence s quality management standards. In 1971 the British Standard Institute applied a QMS to electronics industry with the BS 9000 and, later on, in the manufacturing industry in 1979,publishing the BS 5750 from which the ISO9000 series of standard, published in 1987, is heavily based. The steer being mounted is called the buller and the steer riding is called the rider . As a consequence of the excessive riding, the buller steer often becomes exhausted, shows loss of hair, can develop swelling and trauma along the dorsal line and tail head, and in extreme cases can suffer from broken bones or may even die from injuries. Riding is therefore more likely a way for a steer to exert dominance over another steer. The mounting behavior seen among feedlot buller steers is more likely to be related to social behavior, since in wild species of ungulates which are in the same taxonomic family as domestic beef cattle, submissive behavior is expressed by allowing the dominant animal to mount. One observational study by Klem et al. (1983) found that bullers were actually more aggressive than riders and the authors postulated that bullers may not be readily submitting to dominant riders. Social hierarchies between cattle appear to play a role in the generation of bullers in a feedlot setting. Dominant steers are naturally more aggressive than other steers in the pen, so they like to establish their dominance. Not surprisingly, when steers first arrive at a feedlot and are penned together, the number of bullers is at its highest. When animals are re grouped, the number of bullers rises again as new pen members establish their social status. There is also evidence that suggests the expression of social dominance occurs more often in pens with large numbers of animals (Grognet, 2004; Brower and Kiracofe, 1978; Irwin et al., ... The flashbacks were intended to add more to Casey s character and her determination to live, but they were so poorly presented that it left more holes in her character than development. Luckily, even movies that make me cry from how awful they are have their silver linings. McAvoy was a shining light in the dark pit that this movie fell in. His ability to portray many different characters within one movie is admirable and entertaining, and not only was he going off camera as one person and on as another, he was capable of shifting personalities on screen. He captured the ability to physically show the mental morphing between personalities while remaining an absolutely phenomenal actor. Although McAvoy provided some sort of appeal in the movie, I would prefer to have those two hours of my life back. Split lacked any sort of excitement and anticipation; in fact, it was absolutely boring. If you re looking for something to watch at midnight for a good scare, Split is highly ... • 30. Central Arizona s Drought The Grand Canyon is carven deep by the master hand; it is the gulf of silence, widened in the desert; it is all time inscribing the naked rock; it is the book of earth. (Donald Culross Peattie). This quote by Donald Peattie sums up many Americans feelings toward the beauty of Arizona which is home to one of the natural wonders of the world, the Grand Canyon. The 1,450 mile long, life giving Colorado River runs through the Grand Canyon, and it supplies water to much of Arizona and its neighboring states. Tragically, this wonder could be destroyed by the lasting drought that is occurring which means residents and visitors would not experience much of Arizona s allure. Perhaps even more frightening, if the drought continues for another decade, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the EPA, two of the best and most effective ways to conserve water include metering and drip irrigation ( How to Conserve Water and Use It Effectively ). Metering is effective because surcharges also give customers a financial incentive to use less water on landscaped areas (Vickers 340). If home and business owners meter their water, then these people will tend to use less water because they can control the flow of water during the day and night. They can set specific times to have the water on. Also, metering shows how much water a household or industry is using, and by being able to observe the amount of water used, water is conserved because water bills increase. One drawback to metering is that it has an initial start up cost. While it does cost an initial deposit to install, metering eventually saves money and conserves water. Studies show that metering reduces water usage and saves money in the long term (Vickers 382). Not only does metering systems need to be implemented into Arizona s households and industries, but also drip irrigation needs to be used ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Describe The Causes And Effects Of Vitamin D 1.1 Vitamin D Vitamin D is responsible for regulating the passage of calcium (Ca 2+ ) to the bones. Therefore, if vitamin D is missing, this step does not occur and the bones begin to weaken and curl causing irreversible malformations: rickets. This disease especially affects children. Vitamin D plays an important role in the maintenance of organs and systems through multiple functions, such as: the regulation of calcium and phosphorus levels in the blood, promoting the intestinal absorption of them from food and reabsorption of calcium at the renal level. With this it contributes to bone formation and mineralization, being essential for the development of the skeleton. However, in very high doses, it can lead to bone resorption. It also inhibits the secretions of parathyroid hormone (PTH) from the parathyroid gland and affects the immune system due to its immunosuppressive role, promotion of phagocytosis and antitumor activity. It is estimated that 1000 IU per day is the amount of vitamin D sufficient for a healthy adult individual, whether male or female. 1.2.1 Mechanism Vitamin D is a prohormone, so it has no hormonal activity by itself, but it is converted to the active hormone (calcitriol) through a highly regulated synthesis mechanism. The synthesis of cholesterol in the liver by means of Acetyl CoA is the first step, after several complex changes we reach an intermediate called 7 dehydrocholesterol. When the UV rays have contact with the skin, this 7 dehydrocholesterol has transformations producing vitamin D3. This vitamin D3 is not biologically active therefore must be subjected to two hydroxylations: the first in the liver forming 25 hydroxycholecalciferol (calcidiol) and the second in the kidney forming 1,25 dihydroxycholecalciferol also called calcitriol (active form). Vitamin D2 follows the same process (without the need for UV rays) to form 1,25 dihydroxiergocalciferol. 7 The production of vitamin D in nature, apparently requires the presence of UV rays, even vitamin E in edible food is ultimately derived from organisms; from mushrooms or fungi to animals, which cannot synthesize it except through the action of solar rays, at some point in the synthetic chain. For example, fish contain vitamin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Comparing Two Poems Compare and Contrast Poems can have many types of hidden messages. It all depends on how you interpret them. In poems somethings are literal and others are just figurative. My two poems are The Village Blacksmith by famous poet, Emily Dickinson, and Morning Song by another well known poet, Sylvia Plath. The Village Blacksmith is about the dedication it takes to not only be a blacksmith, but to also be a single parent. Morning Song is about a new mom that learns that being a parent isn t what it is cracked up to be. The poems, Morning Song and The Village Blacksmith both have a lot in common by both having enjambment, imagery, and stanza. These poems have allowed me understand the different viewpoints on how parents feel about their kids, weather it is dolorous or adore. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, in The Village Blacksmith the poetic device enjambment is, And Children coming home from school / Look in at the open door (20). The reason why I used this line from the poem is because the sentence isn t finished, but it continues onto another line. It ends on the word school and continues on the next line from the word look. The example of the poetic device in the poem, Morning Song is I m no more your mother / Than the clouds that distil a mirror to reflect its own slow / Effacement at the wind s hand (7 9). Enjambment happens in this line three times, so this makes it a strong example. Both of these are great examples that can unmistakably show what the poetic device, enjambment ... • 35. Security Cameras In Public Safety And Safety In Schools Standing in the english classroom, I realized that my phone was nowhere to be found. As I searched through my belongings, I began to feel a sense of despair and disbelief. I wondered if I could have left my phone in another class; the bathroom; at lunch; or even worse, if someone had stolen it. After investigating each area, I still could not find my phone. Suddenly, I realized that the school might have security cameras that may locate the phone. However, I was shocked to learn that the school did not have such surveillance cameras. The use of security cameras may have helped avoid this situation. In regards to public safety and welfare, security cameras provide an effective way to oversee individuals and their actions. Schools should continue their surveillance practices to maintain safety and ensure justice for crimes or other offences. Security cameras are beneficial because the safety of students will be increased. Fights and stealing can be caught on camera and then the people involved can receive consequences for their actions. For example, if my chromebook is stolen in school, the security cameras can be checked. The cameras will show who took the stolen item, and they will receive necessary consequences. As a result, people would have less items stolen from them. Individuals that were involved in fights can also be caught. Administrators will not be relying on the stories of the ones involved, but on reliable cameras. Therefore, overall, the security ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Just War Theory During President Richard Nixon s term, he advocated for Vietnamization, to remove American troops and allow South Vietnam a larger role in rising against the Communist North ( Overview of the Vietnam War ). Nixon s method to stall the influx of North Vietnamese soldiers and supplies into South Vietnam by directing American troops to terminate Communist supply bases in Cambodia. This defied Cambodian neutrality and consequently provoked a national outcry. Shortly after the Tet Offensive, the My Lai massacre struck when Charlie s Company, a unit of the American Division s 11th Infantry Brigade arrived in My Lai on a search and destroy mission to root out 48th Viet Cong Battalion ( My Lai Massacre ). They did not find what they were looking for, but instead of clearing the area, the U.S. soldiers decided to execute 504 of the 700 My Lai inhabitants in gruesome manners. Vietnamese women were raped while other noncombatants were clubbed and stabbed. Some victims were ruthlessly mutilated with the signature C Company carved into their chest ( My Lai Massacre ). The second signifies justice in war, or jus in bello, which essentially measures whether or not the ends justify the means. • 37. The Role of God in Miracles In the Christian faith, miracles are critical and authentic to the Gospels. A miracle is a difficult term to define because it depends on the individual s perspective and experience. Generally speaking, miracles can be considered to be natural and unnatural acts of God or series of unlikely events occurring concurrently coincidences. I believe miracles and coincidences can both be seen as a series of unlikely event, but miracles have a God component to it. Coincidences on the other hand, do not involve God and are non existent. I view miracles and coincidences as epistemic. It is because of our lack of ability to predict the future that when unexpected events occur, they can be viewed as either coincidences or miracles. For example, if a woman was supposed to die because of a failing immune system by a certain time period, but lived beyond that time period, then foreseeing the woman s survival was impossible because human knowledge is limited to the present. Furthermore, this incident can be considered a miracle for a religious person or a coincidence for an atheist. From an atheist point of view, the woman s survival was due her immune system coincidentally being able able to randomly support life longer than expected without God s involvement. For a person of faith, the woman s survival is seen as a miracle because it is an unlikely event that could have only occurred due to God s purposeful intervention. I don t believe in coincidences because every instance in life ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
