The Essentials Of Water Purification
The Essentials of Water Purification
The Essentials of Water Purification From Academic Journals
Ammar Jaleel
Plano Academy High School By making water purification processes more efficient, the number of
casualties caused by unsanitary water will significantly drop. The purpose of this document is to
inform the reader about the essentials of water purification; it is organized by the trend of the topic,
typically by the types of processes. According to the UN, more than 2.5 billion people worldwide don
t have access to a clean water source. That s more than 35% of the world s population that is dying off
because of this problem. By purifying the water and making potable water, this problem will soon
cease to exist. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third article I researched took a different approach on water purification. Rather than making giant
desalination plants to make clean water, this article talked about how we can chemically treat
individual bottles of water easily to get rid of bacteria with iodine or chlorine tablets. However, this
method of purification is extremely inefficient for many reasons. You cannot mask the taste of iodine
or chlorine. Furthermore, no type of chemical will be able to get rid of organic matter, so if the water
is from a pond or lake, you will need to carry around a filter to get rid of it. Even though this process
is good for people who need clean water on the go and instantaneously, it is not a reliable way to get
rid of the world problem of unsanitary water. The next article takes a similar approach about water
purification since it targets individual small bodies of water. An ultraviolet lamp eliminates all types of
bacteria and dirt, ensuring clean and pure water. The only problem with this is that it leaves only
distilled water, which is water that is drained of all its minerals; this makes distilled water not suitable
for drinking. In a water purification system designed by Labconco makes the water go through three
stages of purification. First, it goes through a prefilter that removes anything bigger than 5
micrometers. Then a carbon

Steganography Is The Most Effective And Fastest Media For...
In this modern era, the computer and internet have becomes the most effective and fastest media for
communication that connect different parts of the global world. As a result, people can easily
exchange information and share information with the others via the internet. However, the information
security requires the confidential data that needs to be protected from the unauthorized users.
Steganography is one of the methods used for the secure transmission of confidential information. It
can provide a high level of security to secure the important data during combined with encryption.
Steganography is a Greek origin word that means stegos meaning cover and grafia to which classified
as cover writing. Steganography is hiding a secret message into other information such as sound,
image and video. It is also known as invisible communication. In addition, steganography is related to
two technologies which are watermarking and fingerprinting. Both these technologies provide the
same goals which are mainly used for intellectual property protection. Thus, both are different in
algorithm requirements. Watermarking provides a hidden copyright protection by owner whereas the
fingerprinting used a copy of the carrier object and make it as unique to the different customer.
Besides, image steganography is a collection of numbers that hide information or message inside the
image. In this image hidden method, the pixels of the image are changed to hide the secret data and

Essay On The Battle Of Chipyong-Nin
The Battle of Chipyong ni was a decisive battle during the Korean War and the first major victory
following the entry of the Chinese into the war. COL Freeman employed the following principles of
mission command during the battle of Chipyong ni: build cohesive teams through mutual trust, use of
mission orders, exercise disciplined initiative, and accept prudent risk. He was an outstanding leader
who knew the value of good communication with his unit. He led by example, and fostered a climate
that allowed his subordinates to excel.
The battle of Chipyong ni took place from 13 15 February 1951, in the small road hub and railway
town of the same name1. The 8th Army Commander, General Ridgeway, determined that it was a key
location to keep the Chinese from moving farther south to stabilize the UN front2. COL Paul Freeman,
who would later become a four star general, commanded the 23rd Infantry Regiment3. The unit
recently won the battle of Twin Tunnels several miles south. Freeman s mission was to deny the
enemy the use of the road net and hold the area of Chipyong ni4. Over the course of three long nights
the Soldiers of the 23rd infantry regiment held back an overwhelming Chinese force, estimates from
after the battle believe that there were six Chinese Communist Force (CCF) Divisions5. COL Paul
Freeman had a long history of military experience in Asia, to which many attribute much of his
success during this battle. As the son of a military doctor, he grew up in

To some degree like universal telephone numbers, the domain name system serves to give each
Internet server a paramount and simple to spell address. At the same time, the domain names keep the
truly technical IP address undetectable for most viewers..
Example: about.com, japantimes.co.jp, spain.info
How are they spelled?
1) Domain names are sorted out right to left, with general descriptors to one side(right), and particular
descriptors to other side(left).
2) It is similar to family surnames to one side, particular individual names to one side. These
descriptors are called domains .
3) The top level domains (TLD, or parent domain) is to the most distant right of an domain name. Mid
level domains (youngsters and grandchildren) are in the middle. The machine name, regularly www ,
is to the far left.
4) Levels of domains are isolated by periods ( dots ).
5) Case 1 About is the mid level domain, .com is the top level domain.
6) Case 2 japantimes is the littler mid level domain. .co is the bigger mid level domain. .jp is the top
level domain.
7) Case 3 spain is the mid level domain, .info is the top level domain.
Tech Trivia Note:
1) Most American servers utilize three letter top level domains (Example .com , .edu ). Nations other

The Half Brothers By Elizabeth Gaskell and My Oedipus...
The Half Brothers By Elizabeth Gaskell and My Oedipus Complex By Frank O Connor
These two stories are very different upon first glance. For example one is about a pair of half brothers
set in Victorian times and the other is about a small child named Larry who thinks he s a lot wiser then
he is. However, if you look deeper you can start to find similarities between the two. They have
similar themes, and links can be made between them.
A big difference between them is the titles. For example The Half
Brothers is a very self evident title but My Oedipus Complex is a little more obscure. My Oedipus
Complex is ironic because although
Larry does have a strong attachment to his mother it is an exaggeration to call it an ... Show more

For example in The Half
Brothers William Preston begs God for forgiveness after realising how wrongly he had treated
Gregory and in My Oedipus Complex Larry and his father forgive each other because they are in the
same situation at the end of the story. Using the theme of forgiveness in stories that also have the
theme of jealousy makes the reader feel that everything must come to an end whether it is good or bad
because forgiveness is an end to jealousy and also to both stories.
There is also a less obvious theme in the stories of religion. For example we heard mass at St
Augustine s and said a prayer for father in My Oedipus Complex and God s will be done in The Half
Brothers . This use of religion in the stories sets the period as nowadays most people are not very
religious. It shows that in the past
God was very important to the average person and had a big influence on their lives and the decisions
they made.
Reasons for some of the differences between the stories may be because they were written and set in
very different periods. For example The
Half Brothers was set in Victorian times when it was also written but
My Oedipus Complex was set just after the First World War but written much later then that. This
makes the authors present the themes in very different ways. Frank O Connor is more light hearted in
his presentation of jealousy whereas Elizabeth Gaskell is definitely more morbid and

The Real Merlin Essay
From the shores of Avalon to the court of King Arthur, tales and accounts of the mystical Merlin
abound. Did Merlin really exist, and if so, was he the dark magical wizard of legend or an image
conjured up by superstitious townsfolk to explain occurrences they didn t understand? To answer this
question, one should first look at the actual accomplishments of the figure Merlin. When was the
character introduced and what did he do afterwards? What kinds of feats did this person accomplish to
make him as well known as he is? Secondly, Merlin was well known as a mythical figure. How did
this mythical figure emerge and what aspects of his life do we still remember to this day? As the son
of a devil, was Merlin an evil character or a good ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many stories of the Arthurian legend contain some reference to Merlin, as either a wizard or a prophet.
As a magician, Merlin performed feats such as the moving of Stonehenge, the disguising of Uther
Pendragon, and the crowning of King Arthur by the use of the sword in the stone (Fletcher 25). As a
prophet, Merlin told of the defeat of the Saxons, the death of Arthur, and the one who found the Holy
Grail.
Almost everyone knows the story The Sword in the Stone by T.H. White wherein Merlin instructed
Arthur in his life as king, but what most don t know is that Merlin was, in legend, the son of a devil.
An incubus came and bedded with Merlin s mother so that she would bear his child (Ackerman 168).
One story that shows the significance of this union is Geoffrey of Monmouth s Historia regum
Britannae. In this book there is a section that tells the tale of Vortigern and Ambrosius. Vortigern, the
King of Britain at the time, wants to build a new retreat, but every night the foundation is destroyed.
Vortigern s wise men tell him he must sprinkle the spot with the blood of a child born fatherless. After
a long and tedious search, Ambrosius is found and brought before Vortigern. Ambrosius tells the King
not to slay him but to dig in the spot for two vases. Those digging found these two vases and inside
were two tents. Inside the two tents were a red dragon and a white dragon. These creatures fought each

Personality Questionnaire On Personality
The questionnaire method is the most common approach used to calculate an individual s personality.
While this method is used throughout the world in different organisations, is it all it is cracked out to
be or is it just a waste of time and resources, I will be discussing the advantages and disadvantages of
questionnaires in the workplace. I will also be discussing my personal experiences with completing
two questionnaires, comparing the results and if I believe they match my managerial or leadership
style.
The questionnaire which best describes what I believe to be my managerial or leadership style would
have to be the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire. The reason why I believe that this questionnaire
best describes my managerial or leadership style is because the scoring interpretation describes seven
factors of managerial or leadership style and indicates which factors are higher than others, also giving
a brief description of the style. My results showed that my individualized consideration was high.
Revealing the extent to which I show interest regarding others prosperity, delegate tasks to suitable
candidates and to make sure everyone feels involved. Also, my result for laissez faire was high,
meaning I would let things take their own course of action without interfering. My other results from
the questionnaire showed that my idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual
stimulation, contingent reward and management by exception were moderate.

Essay Joseph Heller s Catch 22 and World War II
In all of history, no war seems to have touched the minds of people everywhere as much as World War
II has. This war brought about some of the worst violations of human rights ever seen. The German
military created a system for the public to follow, and if the individual opposed, he was oppressed.
This kind of mentality is presented in the novel, Catch 22 (1955).
Joseph Heller uses the insane situations of the setting and his characters to show a unique perspective
on World War II.
A small Army Air Corps base serves as the setting for Catch 22. It is set on a fictitious island called
Pianosa. The island is described as very small and is located in ... Show more content on

This is why the military is able to make the soldiers do whatever they want them to do. The characters
are persuaded to believe in the system rather than oppose it. Yossarian seems to be the only one who
sees the insanity of this situation.
This scenario is almost like the one initiated by Adolph Hitler in Germany at this time.
Hitler saw the people of Germany as impressionable and easily swayed. He used propaganda to make
them do whatever he wanted. It was through this course of action that 6 million Jewish people were
mass murdered. Heller makes it all the more ironic that this same kind of mentality is being used by
the American military in his novel, and he projects his attitude towards war through this irony. Heller
portrays the military as a self contradictory and oppressive force. He sees the military as taking away a
soldier s individuality.
The struggle for individuality by each character is evident throughout the novel. Their experiences
make the scenario believable to the reader. Each character represents an attitude in the system. Milo
Minderbinder and Colonel Cathcart are great representatives of the military. To them, the soldiers are
seen as tools to further their careers. Milo Minderbinder, a military authority figure, is in charge of
business decisions made during the war. He uses his powers to create a syndicate called the

Research Paper On Anna Pavlova
How did a seven year old girl go from being a ballet enthusiast to one of the greatest ballerinas of all
time whose influences are still so evidently felt today? Anna Pavlova is a famous Russian ballerina
who is best known for introducing and popularizing ballet around the world, defying the traditional
expectations of ballerinas and her contribution to the modern pointe shoe. Her love for classical ballet,
determination, perseverance, and elegance stole the hearts of people around the world.
At the age of eight Anna Pavlova, born in St. Petersburg, Russia, on 31 January 1881, was amazed by
the performance of The Sleeping Beauty at the Mariinsky Theater and was thereafter determined on
becoming a professional ballerina. Despite not having the ideal, strong, muscular and compact figure
of a ballerina at the time, Pavlova was accepted into the Imperial Ballet School in 1891. Pavlova
attracted the attention from her teachers and at the annual graduation performance in 1899, it was
announced that Pavlova, after graduating, would join the Imperial Ballet at the Mariinsky Theatre.
Pavlova, with her grace, talent and work ethic, rose through the ranks quickly, she was named
coryphée in 1902, première danseuse in 1905, and finally, after her extraordinary performance in
Giselle, she was promoted to prima ballerina in 1906.
With her strong stage presence, Pavlova stole the hearts of many across the world, who called
themselves the Pavlovitzi. One such person was Michel Fokine,

The unknown is whether there will be enough water to support the power plant without disrupting the
water supplies to the population and environment. Fossil fuels, will play a dominant role in the
coming decades, but export volumes will decline as local demand will rise. The increase in energy
exports will be with natural gas as production increases will exceed local demand (WEC).
Asia Pacific economies are often referred to as emerging economies meaning that their rapid growth
increases the demand for more energy supplies. Emerging economies tend to import more energy due
to lack of infrastructure to meet demands. The more common method of generating electricity is
through the consumption of coal and nuclear. Japan in recent years as saw an increase of 72 percent
decrease in the amount of nuclear energy due to 2011 nuclear disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi power

highlights the need for secure supplies for the continent.
The thirst for secure supplies in Asia is reshaping the energy landscape. The region currently imports

Reputation And Social Status In Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde
The Importance of Reputation and Social Status in the Victorian Era
In this essay, I am going to stereotype the ideals of the Victorian era and use this knowledge to
examine Robert Stevenson s, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and Oscar Wilde s, The Importance of Being
Earnest. I will argue that Jack in The Importance of Being Earnest and Dr. Jekyll in Dr. Jekyll and Mr.
Hyde were both highly influenced by their own reputation, along with their families, and social status.
I will discuss Victorian values and how they affected Dr. Jekyll s and Jack s reputation. The paper will
continue to argue how and why Jack and Dr. Jekyll were influenced by their ideals to improve their
reputation and their social status. The Victorian era influenced the lives of Jack and Dr. Jekyll in their

Abstract
View planning is a crucial part of building vision system for autonomous robots or critical coverage
problems. In computational geometry the problem of covering/guarding a region is known as the art
gallery theorem. The version where static guards are re placed by mobile guards is known as the
watchman route theorem. Both these classic theorem adopts the straight line notion of visibility which
is impractical for real world sensors. In this work we review the existing techniques for solving the
classical ver sion of these problems and also discuss the modi cations needed to handle real world
sensors. We also discuss some recent methods that takes physical visibility constraints into account.
1 Introduction
Producing autonomous robots that can operate without any sort of human intervention is one of the
ultimate goals in robotics [42]. Such robots should be capable of exploring their environment,
interpret the surroundings and act accordingly. Vision is clearly one of the most critical capability such
a robot must have to act autonomously. When exploring an unknown environment, a robot is rst
required to extract information about the surroundings.
Following this exploration, it should be able to carry out speci c task such as nding potentially

How Did Popular Music Affect The Civil Rights Movement
Music during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960 s Music, and particularly cultural, social, and
political songs, has remained an essential facet of the longstanding tradition of uprisings and struggle
for change in American culture. It is difficult to fathom the passions and purposefulness of pop culture
music in the civil rights movement of the 1960s; thanks to the freedom songs, whose endeavor was to
mobilize and reinforce collective participation in the civil rights campaigns, demonstrations, and
protests (Stefani, 2015). The three songs from this period that exemplify popular music s role in
calling for positive change regarding civil rights included We Shall Overcome by Southern African
American tobacco workers, Ain t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Round by Freedom Singers, and People
Get Ready by Curtis Mayfield. We Shall Overcome , performed by one of the musical ensembles
Southern African American tobacco workers was one of the popular freedom songs during the civil
rights movement of 1960s. This song was emblematic of the civil rights period. Fundamentally, the
song accompanied the protests and explored the labor conditions for Southern African American

The Financial Crisis Of 2007 And 2009
Prior to the crisis in 1907, individual banks such as JP Morgan and the reserve banks of New York
were considered full service financial institutions. In the year 1913, the Federal Reserve System was
created by congress to help stabilize the financial market by acting as the lender of last resort to the
banking institutions (federalreserve.gov). Nonetheless the great depression still hit the economy
between 1929 and 1933 which led to the stock market crash and market share value decrease by 80%
(history.com). By the 1980s, the economy had stabilized again and there was increase in computer
analysis, electronic information transfer, increased importance of global markets and deregulation of
financial institutions.
The financial crisis of 2007 and 2009 was the worst since the great depression. It was not a single
event but a series of crises whose seeds had been planted in yet another recession of 2001 and the era
of the internet bubble years earlier (Bodie, Kane, Marcus, 2011). One of the reasons for the crisis was
the rise in subprime lending. Subprime loans were offered to individuals who did not qualify for prime
rate loans and carried a higher rate of interest than prime loans (Gilbert, 2011). Another reason behind
the subprime mortgage crisis is argued to have been due to the lack of ethics and poor policies such as
the Goldman rule which encouraged pursuit of profitable opportunities irrespective of the effects on
others (Watkins, 2011).
The crises impacted the

Since cover crops help reduce soil erosion nutrients stay in the soil instead of running off into streams
and rivers. Cover crops also reduces weeds which eliminates the need for herbicides. The use of
legumes as a cover crop promotes biological nitrogen fixation. Therefore, the farmer or rancher may
not have to apply nitrogen fertilizers (Reynolds). Altogether the participant receives many
environmental and financial benefits from the program. The benefits of EQIP can also be seen in other
outside independent businesses and companies. These businesses and companies rely on EQIP
participants to use their supplies and services. A dirt moving company supplies dirt for EQIP
participants involved in a land leveling practice. A seed and fertilizer company supplies seeds and
fertilizers for EQIP participants involved in conservation cover, cover crops, and forage and biomass
planting. The incomes these businesses and companies receive helps pay for the daily financial needs.
Conclusion
As an employee of the NRCS, I see the benefits of the program first hand. I work with the program
and its participants on a daily basis. I hear the positive feedback from the participants. In my year of
work experience I have had the opportunity to work with these participants from beginning to end.
The comparison of a pre EQIPed operation to a post EQIPed operation is tremendous. I personally
believe the benefits of EQIP outweigh the costs of the program.

It was hypothesized that if you use bigger ice cubes, then more fizz will form in the soda.
The procedures followed was to rinse five ice cubes in cold water and put them all together so they are

Michelangelo Sistine Chapel Ceiling
The Sistine Chapel ceiling is one of my favorite paintings by Michelangelo. It took him four years to
complete it. What I love about it is that he took the Bible stories and painted them onto the ceiling.
Each paint has its own story, and that can speak louder than works at times. As it tells a story, it also
tells us a little bit of what his beliefs are.
The Bible starts by telling us about Adam and Eve. How Eve took the fruit from the snake and gave it
to Adam and then they were ban from the Garden. You will notice a part of the ceiling has that story
painted. He has a man and a woman near the tree of knowledge. She has her hand out to take it from
the snake/man. Just one the other side of the tree it shows them being drove away by an

The Inequality Of A Capitalist Society Essay
There are many inequalities prevalent in the US, and as a capitalist society, one of the most common is
economic inequality. The Equality Trust defines economic inequality, as the gap between the well off
and less well of in regards to overall economic distribution ( How Is ). See, our capitalist society
strongly benefits those with a capitalist mentality and can afford the means to invest/own capital. Over
the years there has been an increasing wealth gap between the top one percent earners and the general
population. So why are the rich flourishing while the poor are struggling in this capitalist
environment? The policy decisions of our country allow this inequality to permeate throughout our
industries, thus creating a culture of power and greed. One result of this culture is the explosion of
high salaries in the US and Emmanuel Saez explains this trend in Striking it Richer. Saez affirms,
Indeed, estimates based purely on wages and salaries show that the share of total wage and salaries
earned by the top 1 percent wage income earners has jumped from 5.1 percent in 1970 to 12.0 percent
in 2006 (Grusky 89). Too bad that the 99 percent of America missed out on this massive economic
growth spurt. When economic growth is not evenly distributed among the general population, people
tend to question our entire system. This has been an increasingly controversial issue, where corporate
America is responsible for the constant exploitation of low level employees. Through my

Lakeland Terrier Research Paper
The Lakeland Terrier dog breed has an appearance that is very similar to that of the Welsh and the
Airedale Terriers. These dogs are considered to be a first class family pet that is considered to be
excellent with children. Because this dog is of a sound temperament and convenient size, he makes for
a great guard dog with an excellent warning bark.
The Lakeland Terrier has been used in the past for both fox hunting and badger hunting. In today s
world this dog is kept mainly as a loving family pet as opposed to hunting. In addition to all of the fine
qualities listed above, the Lakeland Terrier has in recent years been a very successful contender in the
show ring.
Size: The average weight of this dog is just over seven Kg (or 17 lbs).

The Lines By Jodi Picoult And Samantha Vanleer
For this portion of my summer assignment, I read Between the Lines by Jodi Picoult and Samantha
VanLeer. I have selected twelve important and meaningful passages from the novel as well as a Quote
of the Book . Between the Lines is about a girl, Delilah, and a book character, Oliver, that despite the
limits of the story, connect and can even speak to one another. Oliver had never felt as if he d
belonged in his book and dreaded living the same plot over and over every single time someone
opened his book. So, he asked Delilah to help him get to her world and leave the book. After many
failed attempts, Delilah, with the help of a boy named Edgar, is able to get Oliver out of the book, but
only because Edgar willingly switches places with Oliver. Finally, the passages I have selected are
ones that are important, if not necessary to the book, and it was difficult to only select thirteen total.
My first selected passage is from pages nineteen and twenty. I did not write the lines I speak; they
were given to me long before I remember. I mouth the words, but the actual sound is in the Reader s
mind, not coming from my throat. Similarly, all the moves that we make as if we re performing a play
somehow unravel across someone else s imagination. It is as if the action and sound on our tiny,
remote stage are being broadcast in the thoughts of the Reader. I m not sure that I ever really learned
this information it s just something I ve known forever, the same way I

The University Students Epistemological Beliefs About...
Abstract
14 sophomores and 22 seniors participated in this study. The goal of this study was to examine
whether sophomore and senior level university students differ in their beliefs about construction and
modification of knowledge. Students rated their responses to an Epistemological Beliefs (EB)
questionnaire on a 5 point Likert scale. This survey measured students beliefs about constructing and
modification of knowledge between sophomores and seniors. Results indicated that sophomores have
a more sophisticated epistemological view than seniors. Time spent in school may not be the only
factor determining students level of EB sophistication.

In Schommer s 1997 study, she found that seniors in high school have a more complex view of
epistemology (Schommer, M. 1997). Perry s 1968 study also defends the idea that more education
should predict a more complex view of epistemology (Perry, W.G., Jr, 1968). However, it was not
clear whether the results would be similar in a university setting. Therefore a test was conducted to
find out.
Methods
14 sophomores and 22 seniors from Eastern Illinois University participated in this study. Participants
were taken from 3 different classes: Honors Intro to Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, and Research
Methods. The Wood Kardash (2002) Epistemological Belief Survey was administered to each class in
a classroom setting during the Fall semester of 2012. Students rated their responses to EB
questionnaire on a 5 point Likert scale. This was done a total of 3 times, once at the begging of the
semester, once at the end of the semester, and again at the end of the semester. Before the last survey
was administered, the percipients were required to read an article about epistemology. Once all the
participants read the article they were then given the survey. However, since this was a comparative
study, only one of these tests was actually used, the final test. The independent variable is the students,
which involved two levels: sophomores and seniors. The dependent variable is the level of
sophistication. An independent sample T test was utilized in order to

Analysis Of Are Too Many People Going To College
Are too many people going to college? A question that I would have never expected or never heard of
until I read the title of the article, Are Too Many People Going to College? , by Charles Murray.
College is where most people strive to be. It s a place to learn and evolve into a human being who will
change and innovate the world, so a question like this startled me and made me really confused as to
why but it also caught my attention. Murray provides us with reasons, examples, and statistics on why
he believes people should or should not go to college. In his article Murray talks about the
compensations that come with a degree, the reality about college, bachelor of arts, liberal education,
core knowledge, and the four years spent at university. Three particularly points that sparked my
interest were: the truth about college, the supposed rewards that accompany a college degree, and the
four years you spend at your desired institution. I will be discussing the many flaws that are contained
within his arguments and will be utilizing logical fallacies, diction, to describe why. One of Charles
Murray points is about college and claims that it s not all the hype It s known to be. Murray provides
us with an example comparing a young male, more specifically a high school graduate, aspiring to get
a business major or settling as an electrician.
He states that he s got talent and has the skills required to be an excellent electrician,

Accommodations Project
The disability group that I would like to focus on for my Accommodations Project is blindness and
low vision. According to the textbook, the statutory definition of blindness is based on visual acuity
and field of vision. Visual acuity is the ability to clearly distinguish forms or discriminate details at a
specified distance (Heward 345). For example, Mary is able to see the words on the projection screen
from her desk and she can see it clearly. Having 20/20 vision does not mean that a person has perfect
vision it simply means that they can see at a distance of 20 feet. The American Foundation for the
Blind defines being legally blind as having vision no better than 20/200 corrected vision in the better
eye, or a visual field not extending beyond 20 degrees in the better eye, or a visual efficiency of no
more than 20 percent. The legal refers to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many instructional strategies that are effective in teaching students who are blind or that
have low vision. One example of an instructional strategy would be seating the student in the front of
the classroom so that they can hear the teacher s instructions clearly (Allan). A student that is blind is
unable to see written instructions that are on a chalkboard so the teacher will have to read the
instructions aloud. Another example would be to avoid leaving doors and drawers ajar or chairs out
from under tables and desks (Allan). If there are items in the walkway of a student that is blind they
could potentially fall and get hurt which is why it is also important for the teacher to keep from
rearranging the classroom. If the teacher rearranges the classroom they should inform the student that
they have done so. The two examples that I provided are effective because they help the student be
successful in the classroom despite their

2.1 Styling using Convolutional Neural Networks
The initial work on style transferring using convolutional neural networks was brought forth by Leon
Gatys, Alexander Ecker and Matthias Bethge [1] in which style representations were extracted from
images. This involved superimposing the style image onto the content image such that the semantic
details of the content image were not lost as shown in Figure 1 [1].

broad classification of neural methods into descriptive and generative neural methods where the
former is used to transfer styles by updating pixel information in the images whereas the latter

such as loss function modification, emphasizing on spatial arrangements to style details. Extensions to
existing transfer methods which were developed for simple images were discussed, this included style
transferring for doodles, head portraits, single user specified objects and video frames. The parameters

Impact Of Blaxploitation Films In The Black Power Movement
The Impact Of Blaxploitation films in the black power movement During the 1960s African
Americans began to start a black power movement to overcome severe oppression. African Americans
during this time in history were being murdered and treated like animals and were not given equal
rights. Prior to the black power movement, African Americans were practicing a non violent civil
rights movement that believed in integrated marches and peaceful sit ins. African Americans before
the black power movement were trying to be more like the white man rather than themselves. For
example, black men and women were perming their hair rather than wearing their natural hair and was
even bleaching their skin. The black power movement

Investment Decision and Cash Flows
INVESTMENT DECISION AND CASH FLOWS A positive net present value (NPV) is a direct
estimate of value creation for shareholders and is an operational way of carrying through on the
strategy of trying to maximize shareholder wealth. To calculate NPV, however we need to estimate the
cash costs and benefits of any decision at hand. In this note we discuss the evaluation of investment
proposals.
Cash Flows: Basic Concepts The cash flows that we will use in our analysis are incremental after tax
cash flows. The incremental cash flow rule is that the cash flows relevant in analyzing an investment
opportunity are those after tax cash flows and only those after tax cash flows directly attributable to
the investment. The words incremental, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Canada Monetary Policy Essay
Monetary policy in Canada has two main characteristics:
Monetary policy is conducted by the Bank of Canada, a government owned Crown corporation that
operates with considerable independence from the federal government but is nonetheless ultimately
accountable to Parliament.
Financial capital can move easily within Canada, leading to same interest rates on similar assets
across all Canadian regions. As a result, there is only one monetary policy for all of Canada.
The Bank of Canada is the sole issuer of liquidity in Canada.
The Bank of Canada has no ability to set spending or taxation priorities for any level of government in
Canada. Nor does it have the ability to directly regulate labor markets or product markets, although it

period 2007 to 2014, and as it can be seen from the graph, the policies implemented in the United
States resulted in lower unemployment and GDP growth, paired with the willingness to increase

2010 reverted the situation, creating higher unemployment and GDP stagnation. The trigger of the
austerity measures was the Greek crisis, which brought to light that the EU member states are more

Analysis Of Hotel California By The Eagles
I have always enjoyed music with strong, meaningful lyrics so this option was the obvious choice for
my final. I find myself constantly listening to music and have listened to Hotel California by The
Eagles more times than I can count, making it another obvious choice for me. Although, when reading
through the lyrics the first time, I realized that I had never understood the song meaning and the theme
it is intended to portray. It was interesting to read through it with my own, as opposed to hearing the
tone it receives when listening to the song. Not having the music helped me understand the meaning
of the lines better, letting the words sink in instead of them being sung quickly and then gone.
Hotel California takes on a relatively free form when analyzed as poetry. It contains a mostly
consistent rhyme pattern throughout using an A,A,B,B,C,C series, as many songs do. However, the
meter of the song is less structured and has more variance throughout the stanzas. Each can carry
different numbers of syllables than the one before, depending on the part of the song. This is where the
work loses its formality and is taken as free verse. When reading through, the lyrics carry even more
similar traits than those we look for when analyzing modern poetry including, general theme and
figurative language.
The theme of the song is rather interesting and I have heard many different theories about the meaning
when discussing it with peers over the years. One of the thoughts is

The Essentials Of Water Purification The Essentials of Water Purification The Essentials of Water Purification From Academic Journals Ammar Jaleel Plano Academy High School By making water purification processes more efficient, the number of casualties caused by unsanitary water will significantly drop. The purpose of this document is to inform the reader about the essentials of water purification; it is organized by the trend of the topic, typically by the types of processes. According to the UN, more than 2.5 billion people worldwide don t have access to a clean water source. That s more than 35% of the world s population that is dying off because of this problem. The third article I researched took a different approach on water purification. Rather than making giant desalination plants to make clean water, this article talked about how we can chemically treat individual bottles of water easily to get rid of bacteria with iodine or chlorine tablets. However, this method of purification is extremely inefficient for many reasons. You cannot mask the taste of iodine or chlorine. Furthermore, no type of chemical will be able to get rid of organic matter, so if the water is from a pond or lake, you will need to carry around a filter to get rid of it. Even though this process is good for people who need clean water on the go and instantaneously, it is not a reliable way to get rid of the world problem of unsanitary water. The next article takes a similar approach about water purification since it targets individual small bodies of water. An ultraviolet lamp eliminates all types of bacteria and dirt, ensuring clean and pure water. The only problem with this is that it leaves only distilled water, which is water that is drained of all its minerals; this makes distilled water not suitable for drinking. In a water purification system designed by Labconco makes the water go through three stages of purification. First, it goes through a prefilter that removes anything bigger than 5 micrometers. Then a carbon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

COL Freeman employed the following principles of mission command during the battle of Chipyong ni: build cohesive teams through mutual trust, use of mission orders, exercise disciplined initiative, and accept prudent risk. He was an outstanding leader who knew the value of good communication with his unit. He led by example, and fostered a climate that allowed his subordinates to excel. The battle of Chipyong ni took place from 13 15 February 1951, in the small road hub and railway town of the same name1. The 8th Army Commander, General Ridgeway, determined that it was a key location to keep the Chinese from moving farther south to stabilize the UN front2. Freeman s mission was to deny the enemy the use of the road net and hold the area of Chipyong ni4. Over the course of three long nights the Soldiers of the 23rd infantry regiment held back an overwhelming Chinese force, estimates from after the battle believe that there were six Chinese Communist Force (CCF) Divisions5. For example one is about a pair of half brothers set in Victorian times and the other is about a small child named Larry who thinks he s a lot wiser then he is. However, if you look deeper you can start to find similarities between the two. They have similar themes, and links can be made between them. A big difference between them is the titles. For example The Half Brothers is a very self evident title but My Oedipus Complex is a little more obscure. For example in The Half Brothers William Preston begs God for forgiveness after realising how wrongly he had treated Gregory and in My Oedipus Complex Larry and his father forgive each other because they are in the same situation at the end of the story. Using the theme of forgiveness in stories that also have the theme of jealousy makes the reader feel that everything must come to an end whether it is good or bad because forgiveness is an end to jealousy and also to both stories. There is also a less obvious theme in the stories of religion. For example we heard mass at St Augustine s and said a prayer for father in My Oedipus Complex and God s will be done in The Half Brothers . This use of religion in the stories sets the period as nowadays most people are not very religious. It shows that in the past God was very important to the average person and had a big influence on their lives and the decisions they made. Reasons for some of the differences between the stories may be because they were written and set in very different periods. For example The Half Brothers was set in Victorian times when it was also written but My Oedipus Complex was set just after the First World War but written much later then that. This makes the authors present the themes in very different ways. Frank O Connor is more light hearted in his presentation of jealousy whereas Elizabeth Gaskell is definitely more morbid and ... Did Merlin really exist, and if so, was he the dark magical wizard of legend or an image conjured up by superstitious townsfolk to explain occurrences they didn t understand? To answer this question, one should first look at the actual accomplishments of the figure Merlin. When was the character introduced and what did he do afterwards? What kinds of feats did this person accomplish to make him as well known as he is? Secondly, Merlin was well known as a mythical figure. As a magician, Merlin performed feats such as the moving of Stonehenge, the disguising of Uther Pendragon, and the crowning of King Arthur by the use of the sword in the stone (Fletcher 25). As a prophet, Merlin told of the defeat of the Saxons, the death of Arthur, and the one who found the Holy Grail. Almost everyone knows the story The Sword in the Stone by T.H. White wherein Merlin instructed Arthur in his life as king, but what most don t know is that Merlin was, in legend, the son of a devil. An incubus came and bedded with Merlin s mother so that she would bear his child (Ackerman 168). One story that shows the significance of this union is Geoffrey of Monmouth s Historia regum Britannae. In this book there is a section that tells the tale of Vortigern and Ambrosius. Vortigern, the King of Britain at the time, wants to build a new retreat, but every night the foundation is destroyed. Vortigern s wise men tell him he must sprinkle the spot with the blood of a child born fatherless. After a long and tedious search, Ambrosius is found and brought before Vortigern. I will also be discussing my personal experiences with completing two questionnaires, comparing the results and if I believe they match my managerial or leadership style. The questionnaire which best describes what I believe to be my managerial or leadership style would have to be the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire. The reason why I believe that this questionnaire best describes my managerial or leadership style is because the scoring interpretation describes seven factors of managerial or leadership style and indicates which factors are higher than others, also giving a brief description of the style. My results showed that my individualized consideration was high. This war brought about some of the worst violations of human rights ever seen. The German military created a system for the public to follow, and if the individual opposed, he was oppressed. This kind of mentality is presented in the novel, Catch 22 (1955). Joseph Heller uses the insane situations of the setting and his characters to show a unique perspective on World War II. He used propaganda to make them do whatever he wanted. It was through this course of action that 6 million Jewish people were mass murdered. Heller makes it all the more ironic that this same kind of mentality is being used by the American military in his novel, and he projects his attitude towards war through this irony. Heller portrays the military as a self contradictory and oppressive force. He sees the military as taking away a soldier s individuality. The struggle for individuality by each character is evident throughout the novel. Their experiences make the scenario believable to the reader. Each character represents an attitude in the system. In computational geometry the problem of covering/guarding a region is known as the art gallery theorem. The version where static guards are re placed by mobile guards is known as the watchman route theorem. Both these classic theorem adopts the straight line notion of visibility which is impractical for real world sensors. In this work we review the existing techniques for solving the classical ver sion of these problems and also discuss the modi cations needed to handle real world sensors. We also discuss some recent methods that takes physical visibility constraints into account. 1 Introduction Producing autonomous robots that can operate without any sort of human intervention is one of the ultimate goals in robotics [42]. Such robots should be capable of exploring their environment, interpret the surroundings and act accordingly. Vision is clearly one of the most critical capability such a robot must have to act autonomously. How Did Popular Music Affect The Civil Rights Movement Music during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960 s Music, and particularly cultural, social, and political songs, has remained an essential facet of the longstanding tradition of uprisings and struggle for change in American culture. It is difficult to fathom the passions and purposefulness of pop culture music in the civil rights movement of the 1960s; thanks to the freedom songs, whose endeavor was to mobilize and reinforce collective participation in the civil rights campaigns, demonstrations, and protests (Stefani, 2015). The three songs from this period that exemplify popular music s role in calling for positive change regarding civil rights included We Shall Overcome by Southern African American tobacco workers, Ain t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Round by Freedom Singers, and People Get Ready by Curtis Mayfield. In the year 1913, the Federal Reserve System was created by congress to help stabilize the financial market by acting as the lender of last resort to the banking institutions (federalreserve.gov). Nonetheless the great depression still hit the economy between 1929 and 1933 which led to the stock market crash and market share value decrease by 80% (history.com). By the 1980s, the economy had stabilized again and there was increase in computer analysis, electronic information transfer, increased importance of global markets and deregulation of financial institutions. The financial crisis of 2007 and 2009 was the worst since the great depression. It was not a single event but a series of crises whose seeds had been planted in yet another recession of 2001 and the era of the internet bubble years earlier (Bodie, Kane, Marcus, 2011). One of the reasons for the crisis was the rise in subprime lending. Subprime loans were offered to individuals who did not qualify for prime rate loans and carried a higher rate of interest than prime loans (Gilbert, 2011). Another reason behind the subprime mortgage crisis is argued to have been due to the lack of ethics and poor policies such as the Goldman rule which encouraged pursuit of profitable opportunities irrespective of the effects on others (Watkins, 2011). These businesses and companies rely on EQIP participants to use their supplies and services. A dirt moving company supplies dirt for EQIP participants involved in a land leveling practice. A seed and fertilizer company supplies seeds and fertilizers for EQIP participants involved in conservation cover, cover crops, and forage and biomass planting. The incomes these businesses and companies receive helps pay for the daily financial needs. Conclusion As an employee of the NRCS, I see the benefits of the program first hand. I work with the program and its participants on a daily basis. I hear the positive feedback from the participants. In my year of work experience I have had the opportunity to work with these participants from beginning to end. The comparison of a pre EQIPed operation to a post EQIPed operation is tremendous. I personally believe the benefits of EQIP outweigh the costs of the program. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hypothesis It is hypothesized that if you use big ice cubes then, more fizz will form. Abstract The problem was do ice cubes effect the pressure on carbonation in soda? It was hypothesized that if you use bigger ice cubes, then more fizz will form in the soda. The procedures followed was to rinse five ice cubes in cold water and put them all together so they are close and touching, more so that they could freeze into a clump. I had to do the same with a group of 4, 3, and 2 ice cubes. And put aside a single ice cube on a fifth plate. Then fill the glass 3 1/4 full with soda. • 21. Michelangelo Sistine Chapel Ceiling The Sistine Chapel ceiling is one of my favorite paintings by Michelangelo. It took him four years to complete it. What I love about it is that he took the Bible stories and painted them onto the ceiling. Each paint has its own story, and that can speak louder than works at times. As it tells a story, it also tells us a little bit of what his beliefs are. The Bible starts by telling us about Adam and Eve. How Eve took the fruit from the snake and gave it to Adam and then they were ban from the Garden. You will notice a part of the ceiling has that story painted. He has a man and a woman near the tree of knowledge. She has her hand out to take it from the snake/man. Just one the other side of the tree it shows them being drove away by an ... • 22. The Inequality Of A Capitalist Society Essay There are many inequalities prevalent in the US, and as a capitalist society, one of the most common is economic inequality. The Equality Trust defines economic inequality, as the gap between the well off and less well of in regards to overall economic distribution ( How Is ). See, our capitalist society strongly benefits those with a capitalist mentality and can afford the means to invest/own capital. Over the years there has been an increasing wealth gap between the top one percent earners and the general population. So why are the rich flourishing while the poor are struggling in this capitalist environment? The policy decisions of our country allow this inequality to permeate throughout our industries, thus creating a culture of power and greed. One result of this culture is the explosion of high salaries in the US and Emmanuel Saez explains this trend in Striking it Richer. Saez affirms, Indeed, estimates based purely on wages and salaries show that the share of total wage and salaries earned by the top 1 percent wage income earners has jumped from 5.1 percent in 1970 to 12.0 percent in 2006 (Grusky 89). Too bad that the 99 percent of America missed out on this massive economic growth spurt. When economic growth is not evenly distributed among the general population, people tend to question our entire system. This has been an increasingly controversial issue, where corporate America is responsible for the constant exploitation of low level employees. Through my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I have selected twelve important and meaningful passages from the novel as well as a Quote of the Book . Between the Lines is about a girl, Delilah, and a book character, Oliver, that despite the limits of the story, connect and can even speak to one another. Oliver had never felt as if he d belonged in his book and dreaded living the same plot over and over every single time someone opened his book. So, he asked Delilah to help him get to her world and leave the book. After many failed attempts, Delilah, with the help of a boy named Edgar, is able to get Oliver out of the book, but only because Edgar willingly switches places with Oliver. Finally, the passages I have selected are ones that are important, if not necessary to the book, and it was difficult to only select thirteen total. My first selected passage is from pages nineteen and twenty. I did not write the lines I speak; they were given to me long before I remember. I mouth the words, but the actual sound is in the Reader s mind, not coming from my throat. Similarly, all the moves that we make as if we re performing a play somehow unravel across someone else s imagination. It is as if the action and sound on our tiny, remote stage are being broadcast in the thoughts of the Reader. • 25. The University Students Epistemological Beliefs About... Abstract 14 sophomores and 22 seniors participated in this study. The goal of this study was to examine whether sophomore and senior level university students differ in their beliefs about construction and modification of knowledge. Students rated their responses to an Epistemological Beliefs (EB) questionnaire on a 5 point Likert scale. This survey measured students beliefs about constructing and modification of knowledge between sophomores and seniors. Results indicated that sophomores have a more sophisticated epistemological view than seniors. Time spent in school may not be the only factor determining students level of EB sophistication. In Schommer s 1997 study, she found that seniors in high school have a more complex view of epistemology (Schommer, M. 1997). Perry s 1968 study also defends the idea that more education should predict a more complex view of epistemology (Perry, W.G., Jr, 1968). However, it was not clear whether the results would be similar in a university setting. Therefore a test was conducted to find out. Methods 14 sophomores and 22 seniors from Eastern Illinois University participated in this study. Participants were taken from 3 different classes: Honors Intro to Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, and Research Methods. The Wood Kardash (2002) Epistemological Belief Survey was administered to each class in a classroom setting during the Fall semester of 2012. Students rated their responses to EB questionnaire on a 5 point Likert scale. This was done a total of 3 times, once at the begging of the semester, once at the end of the semester, and again at the end of the semester. Before the last survey was administered, the percipients were required to read an article about epistemology. Once all the participants read the article they were then given the survey. However, since this was a comparative study, only one of these tests was actually used, the final test. The independent variable is the students, which involved two levels: sophomores and seniors. The dependent variable is the level of sophistication. An independent sample T test was utilized in order to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A question that I would have never expected or never heard of until I read the title of the article, Are Too Many People Going to College? , by Charles Murray. College is where most people strive to be. It s a place to learn and evolve into a human being who will change and innovate the world, so a question like this startled me and made me really confused as to why but it also caught my attention. Murray provides us with reasons, examples, and statistics on why he believes people should or should not go to college. In his article Murray talks about the compensations that come with a degree, the reality about college, bachelor of arts, liberal education, core knowledge, and the four years spent at university. Three particularly points that sparked my interest were: the truth about college, the supposed rewards that accompany a college degree, and the four years you spend at your desired institution. I will be discussing the many flaws that are contained within his arguments and will be utilizing logical fallacies, diction, to describe why. One of Charles Murray points is about college and claims that it s not all the hype It s known to be. Murray provides us with an example comparing a young male, more specifically a high school graduate, aspiring to get a business major or settling as an electrician. He states that he s got talent and has the skills required to be an excellent electrician, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to the textbook, the statutory definition of blindness is based on visual acuity and field of vision. Visual acuity is the ability to clearly distinguish forms or discriminate details at a specified distance (Heward 345). For example, Mary is able to see the words on the projection screen from her desk and she can see it clearly. Having 20/20 vision does not mean that a person has perfect vision it simply means that they can see at a distance of 20 feet. The American Foundation for the Blind defines being legally blind as having vision no better than 20/200 corrected vision in the better eye, or a visual field not extending beyond 20 degrees in the better eye, or a visual efficiency of no more than 20 percent. One example of an instructional strategy would be seating the student in the front of the classroom so that they can hear the teacher s instructions clearly (Allan). Another example would be to avoid leaving doors and drawers ajar or chairs out from under tables and desks (Allan). If there are items in the walkway of a student that is blind they could potentially fall and get hurt which is why it is also important for the teacher to keep from rearranging the classroom. I find myself constantly listening to music and have listened to Hotel California by The Eagles more times than I can count, making it another obvious choice for me. Although, when reading through the lyrics the first time, I realized that I had never understood the song meaning and the theme it is intended to portray. It was interesting to read through it with my own, as opposed to hearing the tone it receives when listening to the song. Not having the music helped me understand the meaning of the lines better, letting the words sink in instead of them being sung quickly and then gone. Hotel California takes on a relatively free form when analyzed as poetry. It contains a mostly consistent rhyme pattern throughout using an A,A,B,B,C,C series, as many songs do. However, the meter of the song is less structured and has more variance throughout the stanzas. Each can carry different numbers of syllables than the one before, depending on the part of the song. This is where the work loses its formality and is taken as free verse. When reading through, the lyrics carry even more similar traits than those we look for when analyzing modern poetry including, general theme and figurative language. The theme of the song is rather interesting and I have heard many different theories about the meaning when discussing it with peers over the years. One of the thoughts is ...
