Book review of The Original Argument
Bibliography
Beck, Glenn, and Joshua Charles. The Original Argument: The Federalists Case for the Constitution,
Adapted for the 21st Century. New York: Threshold Editions, 2011. Print.
398 pages Summary
Instead of the Beck and Charles telling a story of a significant person to make a point the Authors
discussed the original argument for the United States Constitution. The argument was originally
written by the federalists in the late 18th century. These historical documents are commonly referred
to as the federalist papers. Beck and Charles go over seven different topics and arguments discussed in
the federalist papers.
Part One: Novus ordo seclorum: A New Order For the Ages is all about the new way of thinking once
the colonies declared independence from England. It discussed how new concepts were being
introduced and why a new order was needed for that particular time. In fact Alexander Hamilton
sounded a lot like Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln s main objective as president was also to
preserve the Union. Hamilton wrote, Nothing remains as obvious as the fact that either the new
Constitution will be adopted or the Union will be torn apart. It is therefore necessary to examine the
advantages of the Union, as well as the evils and dangers that would result from its disbanding. (Beck
and Charles 4) Alexander Hamilton (who wrote many of the federalist

The Role Of Nationalism In Macbeth By William Shakespeare
Throughout the course of history, nationalism has been a defining characteristic of many groups of
people. We see that in our current day, nationalism is a factor that determines the fate of communities
and countries. One classic textbook case of nationalism comes from the English during the period of
unification between England and Scotland. During this time period, we saw domestic tensions rise
between English and Scottish people. When we look at works such as Macbeth, which was written by
the Englishman William Shakespeare, further promoted an image of Scottish people being barbaric
and power hungry, whereas the English were seen as benevolent and pure. By integrating this image
into his story, Shakespeare allowed fellow English citizens to feel superior, which continued their
nationalist sentiments. Ultimately, Shakespeare uses nationalist beliefs brought on by the ... Show

In 1568, Mary, Queen of Scots was to flee to England from Scotland after her imprisonment in
Scotland after a rebellion against her rule. The rebellion was sparked after she had been accused of
plotting the murder of her husband. After arriving in England, she was imprisoned as she was seen as
a threat to the monarch at the time, Queen Elizabeth the First. As her imprisonment lasted on, the
current of nationalism grew in England (Warnicke, 168). The people of England believed the crimes
that Mary had been accused of. They also believed that Mary was a treacherous women who wanted to
usurp the throne of England. Ultimately, Mary was sentenced to death in 1587 after being convicted of
plotting to assassinate the Queen of England. This conviction, and the long imprisonment, cemented
the views of the English and they saw Scottish people as treacherous individuals because their queen

Sir Francis Drake Sir Francis Drake s circumnavigation of the globe made him the best royally

lot of Spanish fleets, but he always considered himself as an explorer. Francis Drake s life was nothing
short of dangerous and the way he lived it was adventurously and without regret. Sir Francis Drake

Taking the port of Cadiz completely by surprise, Drake sailed unimpeded into the harbor, destroyed an
ample amount of shipping, and occupied Cape Vincent; from there he was able to significantly reduce
the amount of supplies shipped from the Mediterranean to the Lisbon area. After a side trip to the
Azores where he managed to capture a handsome prize, Drake returned once more to England, having
seriously set back Philip of Spain s plans to assemble an armada against England. Back at home,
Drake unceasingly preached the need for naval preparedness against certain attack from Spain(Pirate

preempt their attack. But other voices prevailed and the navy was kept in home

Ironically the 1965 act was in response to issues with low academic performance of impoverished
students (as will be discussed later, standardized testing has a negative impact on low income
students). The groundwork for Common Core as we know it was laid out much later. During the Bush
administration the No Child Left behind created a standardized test purgatory. Schools facilitated
cheating and a chronic issue with schools lowering the passing rates created unsustainable issues. The
economic recession and the Obama Administration also attempted to reform the system with what is
known as the Race to the Top . Under this system there was a funding incentive for high performing
schools. This system also relied heavily on standardized testing. An interesting repercussion of the
Race to the Top is that it created a massive data drive to collect student information. Out of these two
failed programs and an economic recession came the drive for Common Core. common core was
developed in 2009 and implemented in 2010, it was then accepted by 45 states. The education industry
is (books, software, curriculum) are aligning their products to match common core. The National
Governors Association is the actual legal owner of the Common Core Standards. The Florida
standards which are based on Common Core were rolled out a little differently. During the 2013 2014

Swot Analysis Of Trader Joe s
Strength
Some main strengths of Trader Joe s are the strong brand image, their employees, organic and private
label products, customer loyalty, and offered unique products. Trader Joe s strong brand image helps
them to attract and retain more customers. Their private labels are named according to the background
and nationality of food. They offered an extensive line of private label items with brand names such as
Trader Joe s, Trader Ming s, Trader Jose, Trader Giotto. Due to their strong brand image, they
established themselves as a leading retailer of food and non food items in the US. Americans ranked
Trader Joe s overall as No. 1 retailer in 2013 (Ager Roberto, 2014). Trader Joe s offered unique and
high quality products from different countries which attract customers to try new items and stocks of
4,000 items, 80% of which bear one of its own brand names. Trader Joe s describes itself as your
neighborhood grocery store (Wikipedia, Trader Joe s). Trader Joe s claimed that 80% of its customers
had attended college. The company described its target market as intelligent, educated, inquisitive
individuals and they reach this customer by opening store among well educated residents (Ager
Roberto, 2014). Their customers are too loyal towards their brand image so they keep coming back.
Instead of targeting all customers, they need to target new customers in order to grow their business
and to keep being a leader in the retail industry in the US. And also, their employee are valuable assets
of the company, who led them towards the further growth of the company, therefore they are treated
fairly and trained to provide the nice and friendly service to Trader Joe s customers. Almost most of
the people want to work at Trader Joe s because they pay more than minimum wage and higher
compare to other retail stores. New part time hires earned $12 per hour and full time employees
earned approximately $50,000 per year which is above minimum wages. Plus, they contribute 15.4%
of employee s salary towards retirement Saving. Furthermore, they offer good health and others
benefits even to part time employees (Ager Roberto, 2014).

The Effect Of Temperature Affect The Metabolic Rate Of...
I. Introduction
Temperature can greatly affect the metabolic rate of Carassius auratus auratus (goldfish). Carassius
auratus auratus(goldfish) are native to eastern Asia and was first discovered by the Chinese. Unlike
homoiotherm, Carassius auratus auratus(goldfish) are ectothermic, which means they adjust to their
surrounding temperature. In this lab, the dependent variable is the rate of breath per 15 seconds and
the independent variable is the temperature in Celsius. Since Carassius auratus auratus are ectothermic
then their metabolic rate must go up as the temperature increase and goes down when the temperature
decrease.
II. Method
The material needed to recreate this lab is one goldfish in a cup big enough for the fish to swim in, a
bowl filled with water, one cup of ice, and one thermometer. Place the cup with the goldfish into the
bowl filled with water. Measure the temperature of the water in the bowl with the thermometer to find
the room temperature and after when you added the ice to cool the water down. The room temperature
should be around 20 degrees Celsius. Wait for 3 minutes for the goldfish to adjust to the environment.
Count the number of breaths of the goldfish per 15 seconds by counting the number of times when the
gill cover open and close. Slowly added the ice to the bowl to cool down the water temperature.
Repeat the process for 20 degrees Celsius, 17.5 degrees Celsius and 10 degrees Celsius.
III. Result
As the temperature gradually decreases, the

Murty The Guinea Pig Essay
In this tale Morty the guinea pig learns a valuable lesson about compassion. We will see how he is
affected by his own arrogant attitude. He is heavily impacted by the decisions Rudy the polar bear
made and how he handled his situation. John s view of life is changed by Rudy s strength and values.
You never know when you are going to need a helping hand. In a very secluded palace in the North
Pole a polar bear cub was being born. He was an only child. His mother heard a strange noise and
went to check it out in order to protect her newborn cub. The cub got scared and ran after his mother
but stayed behind because he wasn t strong enough to run like his mother. They got separated by a big
ship, The Icebreaker. The owners saw him and thought his mother had abandoned him. They grabbed
him and the bear felt a pinch and felt dizzy immediately. The cub went into a deep and uncontrollable
sleep. When the cub woke up he felt unusually warm and he noticed he was trapped in a box with steel
bars. He had been taken from his home to be taken to a local zoo. When one of the workers was

The Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion
The Ottawa Charter for health promotion is a document developed in 1986 by the W.H.O that aims at
enabling, empowering and encouraging people to improve, and increase control over their own health.
In relation to road safety, all five action areas are addressed through the introduction and availability
of specific services to the public by all levels of government, NGO s, the community and individuals.
Developing Personal Skills
Improving an individual s knowledge and skills will result in them making more informed decisions
concerning their own health as well as becoming a positive influence to those around them. In order
for an individual to develop good personal skills, they must first be educated about the benefits of a
healthy lifestyle and making decisions about their own health. In relation to road safety, developing
wide knowledge and personal skills is crucial in minimizing the potential of harmful accidents
occurring on our roads. It is important for road users to become informed and aware of the risks and
hazards that will present themselves on the road.
Creating supportive environments
A supportive environment is somewhere where individuals can make positive decisions and changes
to do with their health in order to benefit it. Initiatives can be implemented by all levels of

State v. Tomahl Cook The case of Tomahl Cook vs. The State of New Jersey was a very grusome

Jersey. She was only 15 years when she was brutally murdered by a cold hearted ruthless murderer.
Katrina s life was taken away from her at such a young age due to a sick human being. The experience
of driving by where Katrina lived, where she was abducted, and where she was murdered was very

The neighborhood seemed to be a nice area from how it looks now. Katrina had a very long walk that
night to reach her destination. Unfortunately she would never make it back to her house the evening of
Valentine s Day. Instead she was brutally murdered and left to die in a field behind a bowling alley
where now lies the Home Depot in Sayerville. Her body was found by people who were riding atv s
behind the bowling alley in a wooded area. Her skull was fractured as she suffered blunt force trauma
which induced her death. The Home Depot was sincere enough to leave a space where a memorial lies
for Katrina where her body was found. The memorial is a nice area where an engraved stone has
Katrina s information and the usual information a tombstone would read. Overall I found it to be a
very interesting experience to go through the steps of the murder case. I could almost put myself in
Katrina s shoes that night when her life was tragically ended unfortunately. Tomahl Cook is serving a
life sentence in prison which he absolutely deserves, but none the less I think he should have got the
death penalty. I feel if any human being abducts somebody and murders them should have their own

this war was called The Pacific Theater. This war was also being fought during the duration of another
World War against Germany and Japan but on May 8, 1945 Germany surrendered to the allied powers
leaving Japan to still be dealt with. However Japan would not surrender even after the major battles

conclusion to try and get to a new military weapon which then started the ManHattan Project. The

Art Speigelman Use Symbolism In The Holocaust
Art Speigelman wrote a book called Maus, that explains his father s experience in the holocaust. His
father Vladek Speigelman survived the holocaust. Speigelman Interviews his father everyday to write
his comic book and use symbolism. How does Art Speigelman use symbolism in Maus? The holocaust
was a tragic time for Jews.Germans tortured Jews because they were different and had a different
religion. The holocaust lasted through January 30, 1933 May 8, 1945. Six million Jews were killed in
the Holocaust.Jews were starved and suffered. The word Holocaust came from a greek word meaning
Sacrifice by fire . Art Speigelman wrote the book Maus to explain the events from the holocaust. Art
Speigelman and Vladek Speigelman, his father , had an unusual relationship. In the book Maus Vladek
tries to erase his memories of the holocaust, but Art tries to bring them back so he can write his book

about this historical event is because it wouldn t repeat itself and to educate others.Vladek doesn t like
spending money or wasting things; this may be because of the holocaust.
When the Holocaust were beginning , there were a war fixing to start. Germans told the Jews that the

businesses of Jews and putting there flags in towns, that s when the Jews realized what was going on

If you lock them together in a room with no food for a week then you could see what it is, friends.
(Speigelman, 6). That quote meant as if Jews were starved and wouldn t think about who you were

Washington Irving Contributions
After the first wave of immigrants settled in America, it was up to the next generation, their children,
to isolate themselves from European cultures. One such child of the second generation was
Washington Irving, who felt inspired by both his country s history and stories of other cultures told by
fellow immigrants, to be the catalyst for a new wave of literature. Through the perfectly captured spirit
of America in his work, Washington Irving was the first to show the rest of the world what his country
had to offer to the literary world.
Washington Irving was born in New York City in 1783, named after General George Washington who
led the United States to winning the American Revolution. He was the youngest of eleven siblings to
Scottish English parents, and was taught by them at home. Under his brother Peter, an editor for the
newspaper The Morning Chronicle, Washington started writing for him at age 18. He published essays
and letters under the name Jonathan Oldstyle, the first of various pseudonyms used throughout his
literary career. In 1804, Washington left for France originally to inquire about his health, but was so
charmed by the people and culture that he decided to stay and travel to other countries in Europe like
the Netherlands, Wales, and Spain for the next two years. After returning to New York City, Irving
began practicing law, working as a clerk under Josiah Ogden Hoffman. As a child, he seemed to be
more of a daydreamer than a scholar, and was more interested in socializing and working with his
friends.
With his brother William and friend James Kirke Paulding, Washington started the Salmagundi
Papers, also known as The Opinions of Launcelot Langstaff in 1809. These essays served as satirical

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Transfersomes
The name is derived from the Latin word transferre which means to carry across and the Greek word
soma means body means carrying body . Transfersomes, a novel class of modified liposomes, was
first reported by Cevc [Cevc et al; 1992] and are described as deformable, elastic or ultra flexible
liposomes or vesicles [Benson; 2006]. They are claimed to improve in vitro transdermal delivery of a
variety of drugs. The deformability possessed by transfersomes is the outcome of incorporation of an
edge activator within the phospholipid bilayers and this improves elasticity by means of lipid bilayer
destabilization [Dubey et al; 2007]. Commonly used edge activators are single chain surfactants such
as sodium cholate and Tween 80. It is well known that barrier of stratum corneum prevent hydrophilic
and large molecular drugs through skin but transfersomes are able to squeeze through conduits one
tenth the diameter of the vesicles, allowing them to spontaneous penetrate the stratum corneum [Cevc
et al; 1996] Moreover, Cevc et ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

PATHOPHYSIOLOGY
ADA is a part of the purine salvage pathway which functions to rid the cells of deoxyadenosine.
Adenosine deaminase is considered a critical enzyme that consists of a 12 exon, 32 kb gene located on
chromosome 20q13 q13.1, is a 42 kDa protein with 363 amino acid. Adenosine deaminase produces
the irreversible deamination of adenosine (Ado) and deoxyadenosine (dAdo). The enzyme Ado is
further converted to inosine and and the enzyme dAdo is converted to non toxic molecule 2
deoxyinosine. Most adenosine responsible for breaking down adenosine 5 triphosphate (ATP) and the

DIAGNOSIS
Adenosine deaminase deficiency is usually diagnosed between six months of age and a year. Prenatal
and newborn screenings can discover the ADA deficiency.1 Usually newborns that have a family
history of SCID are screened. However, as early identification of SCID can result in life saving
interventions before infections occur, many states have added SCID to their newborn screening panel.
A test for ADA deficiency usually demonstrates the low number or absence of ADA activity in red
blood cells. ADA deficiency is diagnosed when there is 1% of normal ADA catalytic activity in lysates
of washed red blood cells from heparin or EDTA anticoagulated blood, reduced S
adenosylhomocysteine hydrolase activity and elevated urinary deoxyadenosine nucleotides in red
blood cells and very low T, B and NK lymphocyte counts in peripheral

Essay On Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) is a chronic lifelong disease that causes inflammation of the
gastrointestinal (GI) tract. There are two most common types of IBD, Chrohn s disease and Ulcerative
colitis. The GI is responsible for digestion of food, absorption of nutrients, breaking down, and
elimination of waste from the body. The GI tract includes all of the parts of the body that digest food.
It begins with mouth it follows down your throat into the esophagus, through stomach, small intestine,
large intestine, rectum, and it finishes with your rectum. Chrohn s disease and ulcerative colitis have
many things in common but they have some important differences. There is also a third type of IBD,
indeterminate colitis can sometimes be diagnosed.
Chrohn s disease affect any part of the GI tract, from the mouth to the anus. It sometimes affect the
end of the small intestine (the ileum) where it joins the beginning of the colon. It may appear in
patches, affecting some areas of the GI tract while leaving other sections completely untouched.
Inflammation may also extend through the entire thickness of the intestinal wall.
Ulcerative colitis on the other hand, It may be limited to the large intestine (colon). It can involve the
entire colon,or may be limited to the lower colon. It could spread continuously ... Show more content

Gender Inequalities Of Workforce And Gender Inequality
Arianna Khoubeserian Mr. Parker Sociology 101 February 1 2017 Gender Inequalities in Workforce
Over the years it has become evident that women face far more significant barriers in the workforce
than men do. A clear representation of this barrier is established by the gender pay gap, which is the
difference in monetary amount received between a woman s and a man s average weekly earnings.
The economy, as a social institution, is affected by gender and sex inequality. The idea of inequality in
the workplace is central to explaining wage disparities and is a crucial factor that intervenes between a
person s human capital. Despite a woman s depth of knowledge and commendable work ethic, there
still remains significant obstacles to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conflict theory declares that social problems occur when dominant groups, which are the men in the
workforce, mistreat subordinate ones such as the women, and thus advocates for a power imbalance
between genders . Marx viewed the society in two parts, the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. In this
social phenomenon, the men represent the people who control all the power and the women represent
the people who are being controlled. Men and women are constantly in the battle to obtain the most
factors of production, yet men seem to have an unfair advantage due to their gender. For example
during job interviews, some questions may revolve around what gender the applicant is. Women are
more likely asked about their duties outside of home or if they are expecting to have children.
Singeling women out by suggesting they would need times to miss work especially due to maternity
leave, portrays women as not being the best fit for the job. They begin to feel vulnerable and not
capable of handling the job. Some conflict theorists believe that the reason these roles continue is
because the dominant group naturally works to maintain their power and status though the less
powerful group and this becomes habitualized in society. Also conflict and inequality are developed
by the unequal distribution of social capital. This imbalance of resources creates conflict within men
and women because women will strive to achieve more as men try to bring them

Question Two. Ed Organization Task Functions Are A Set
Question two
ED organization task functions are a set of strategies needed to achieve short and long term goals.
Generally, task functions include identifying community problems, providing technical and analytical
assistance, determining the resources necessary to meet the economic development needs of a
situation, developing networks among individuals and institutions, and stimulating interaction among
diverse groups to achieve common objectives (J, Leigh, and Blakely 2013, p. 108)
The Beacon Council s work lines up with what we know about the task functions of ED organizations

Williams, Beacon Council president and CEO, the diversity of Miami Dade County s industries and
economy is already a strong advantage for attracting and keeping businesses (Wooldridge, 2016), and
the educational environment encourages entrepreneurship.
The book advised analyzing employment data with a location quotient, a ratio of industries
represented locally to one of a reference economy. This is a valuable equation for determining industry
growth at a fixed period. When the OCOG chose target industries for Miami, the specialized index
would have assisted analysts in predicting future economic changes and which sectors will provide the
most employment opportunities across all skill and income levels. As discussed in the Cincinnati,
Ohio Cluster Case study, after the LQ, analysts would determine the occupational LQ to assess the
skill base of the current workforce. Measuring job growth rates by sector and comparison with
national trends would predict areas with healthy economies and those expected to grow. Furthermore,
cluster identification uses input/output analysis and local and national reports to unmask growing
industries and relate dependency or competitiveness between businesses while identifying industries
statistically inclined to grow.

Using Utilitarian Ethicals to Determine Right From Wrong...
Introduction
In 1975 the board of directors for a company that makes transistors were presented with an ethical
dilemma. They were the last transistor company that was selling to a pacemaker company as a result
of other companies backing out of the business due to the failure of some pacemakers leading to
deaths of some of those who used them. At the time, pacemaker technology was extremely new and
had yet to develop into the ground breaking product that it is today. The ethical dilemma presented to
the board was whether or not to continue to sell their transistor to the company and risk the negative
connotation and ultimately the loss of shareholders in the company, associated with the deaths that
occurred (Shanks, 1996). This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second issue to be analyzed counters that possible result. If the transistor company were to
continue in business then there lies the opportunity to save countless lives that could benefit greatly
due to the technology. Yes, the company is putting itself at risk, but for the result of saving people who
really need pacemakers. It is known that pacemakers have failed before, but it can be assumed that the
aforementioned pacemakers did not have this company s transistor in it or else they most likely would
ve already left the contract. That being said, there is the possibility that the other transistors that were
being used were just poorly made (Shanks, 1996). As a result of this, the main Utilitarian issue being
presented is does the company end the contract and not take the unnecessary risk associated, or do
they continue the contract and potentially save countless lives?
Bentham s Advice to the Company Jeremy Bentham defined Utilitarian ethics as we are to promote
pleasure and act to reduce pain. (Driver, 2009). Bentham defined these ethics by taking into account
an array of parameters that included intensity, certainty, proximity, fecundity, purity and the amount of
people affected by a given decision (Driver, 2009).
Analyzing these parameters, it is clear to say Bentham would give the advice of staying with the
contract. By staying with the contract, the

Marketing Strategy Of Stealth Marketing
INTRODUCTION
Did you know that very day we are imprinted with marketing and we don t even realizing it!
Marketers are eager to find new ways on how to get into your subconscious to sell their product or
deliver their message. This is what is called Stealth Marketing . Stealth Marketing is any marketing
strategy that advertises to consumers without them knowing it. It is used in product placement,
celebrity endorsements, and ad agents.
PRODUCT PLACEMNET Product placement is practice in which manufacturers of goods or
providers of a service gain exposure by paying for them to be featured in movies and TV
programming. In the earlier days producers would approach companies to use their products in their
films. During production of E.T., Amblin Productions and Steven Spielberg approached Mars, Inc.
about a possible tie in between M M s and the film. For water reason, Mars said No to their
proposition. By declining this offer, Mars paved the way for Hershey s Reese s Pieces. Hershey agreed
to do a tie in between the movie and the candy after the film was released. A deal was contracted
wherein Hershey Foods agreed to promote E.T. with $1 million of advertising: in return, Hershey
could use E.T. in its own ads. (Mikkelson, 2011). The payoff was huge! Reese s Pieces saw a reported
65% jump in profits just two weeks after E.T. premiered.
Another example would be Risky Business, starring Tom Cruise. The Wayferer sunglasses that Tom

The Tragedy Of King Lear By William Shakespeare
In the eyes of many, the world might appear to entail solely happiness and prosperity. Beyond the
oblivion is arguably a more practical depiction of real life, filled with cold truths and merciless
mistakes. Few figures in history have captured this essence of reality to such a high degree as
Aristotle, a revolutionary thinker whose ideas shaped Greek tragedy. Within his theory of tragedy is
the concept of the tragic hero, whose great, ironic flaw leads to his own downfall. The tragic hero is of
an elevated position in society but should, all the same, be a character with whom the audience can
relate. The hero undergoes a massive revelation and experiences dramatic enlightenment. The tragedy
of King Lear, written by William Shakespeare, illustrates the story of a proud and self centered king,
whose obtuse judgement shapes his demise. Lear s impulsive actions catalyze a chain of events,
inspiring emotion from the characters and the audience alike. On the surface, King Lear fits the
description of Aristotle s tragic hero. Discrepancies in Lear s tale, however, contradict the idea of an
idyllic relationship between Lear and the philosophies of Aristotle. Lear s faults correspond to those of
the audience, but their extremity proves to be unique. One might think King Lear becomes cognizant
of his decisions, but his fall to insanity acts in conflict. The lack of catharsis in King Lear also
precipitates the build up of negative sentiment. Although King Lear is meant to be

him want to murder Fortunato. Montresor didn t want Fortunato to get away with insulting him, so he

quite interesting. When Edgar Allan Poe was younger, he was a private at Fort Independence in 1827.

This protein may play a role in the communication within cells, especially those of the heart, brain and
skeletal muscles. It is believed that the protein is involved in the communication between cells and
regulates the production and function of important structures inside muscles cells by interacting with
other proteins. The DMPK gene is located on the long arm of chromosome 19 at position 13.3. It is
between base pairs 45,769,708 and 45,782,556 making it 12848 base pairs long. It consists of a
trinucleotide repeat of the nucleotide sequence CTG. Meaning that the nucleotides CTG are repeated
multiple times. In a normal DMPK protein the number of CTG repeats ranges from 5 34. The
mutation that causes myotonic dystrophy is known as trinucleotide repeat expansion, meaning it
increases the number of times CTG is repeated in the gene. People with myotonic dystrophy can have
50 to 50,000 repeats, the more repeats an individual has the worse their symptoms are. The increased
number of repeats produces an expanded version of mRNA, which then forms clumps inside the cell
that interfere with the production of many other proteins. These clumps prevent muscle cells and cells

Essay on Adults with Learning Disabilities
Adults with Learning Disabilities
The field has not quite reached consensus on definitions of LD, and there are professionals as well as
members of the public who do not understand them or believe they exist. For example, in a Roper
(1995) survey of 1,200 adults, 85% associated LD with mental retardation 66% with deafness, and
60% with blindness. In Rocco s (1997) research, faculty questioned the existence of certain conditions
or if they existed, the appropriateness of classifying the condition as a disability (p. 158). However,
most definitions describe learning disabilities as a group of disorders that affect the ability to acquire
and use listening, speaking, reading, writing, reasoning, or math skills (Gerber and Reiff 1994; ...

One reason for the variance is misidentification. African Americans and Hispanics are often
inappropriately diagnosed with LD, such as speakers of African American English whose language
may be considered substandard or deficient by assessors (Gregg et al. 1996). There is also the
unresolved question yet persistent belief that one half of all adults with low literacy skills in fact have
learning disabilities (Gerber and Reiff 1994, p. 121).
Successful Adjustment for Adults with LD
Adults with LD may face challenges in several areas of life, including education, employment, daily
routines, and social interactions. However, many are able to make successful life adjustments.
Research has recently been directed toward learning what factors help these adults succeed. Most of
these studies used such measures of success as educational attainment, income, job level, and job and
life satisfaction. Success was influenced by educational experiences and personal characteristics/
background. Educational factors included the following: high school completion; quality of
elementary secondary education; quality of postsecondary education, training, and services; and a shift
from a remedial to a compensatory approach in special education (Gerber and Reiff 1994). Successful

I am proud to say that I live in America, the land of opportunity. I am proud to live in one of the

The reason people say money doesn?t buy happiness is because they are spending it on the wrong
things. Of the $2 trillion at the government?s disposal, $355.4 billion is spent on the military every
year. I know that our President must fight terrorism and wants to spend billions of dollars in order to

government contributes the other 10% (www.ed.gov). This includes expenditures not only from the
Department of Education, but also from other federal agencies, including the Department of Health
and Human Services Head Start program, which is a comprehensive child development program that
serves children from birth to age 5, pregnant women, and their families. They are child focused
programs and have the overall goal of increasing the school readiness of young children in low
income families (http://www2.acf.dhhs.gov/programs/hsb), and the Department of Agriculture s
School Lunch Program which provides nutritionally balanced, low cost or free lunches to more than
25 million students each school day (http://www.fns.usda.gov/cnd/Lunch/ default.htm). When these
are subtracted, the Department of Education is left with 6% of the total education spending. Which in
turn is $55.8 billion dollars and 2.7% of the federal government s budget of $2 trillion. Despite this
large amount of money spent on the American education system, it is still not a reflection its quality.

Analysis Of Eve s Apology On The Fall Of Humanity Essay
Although Aemilia Lanyer and John Milton were both writing on the Fall of humanity, their approaches
to this topic were vastly different. Lanyer wrote Eve s Apology in Defense of Women, in order to
combat the widely believed cultural idea of the time that placed the fault of the Fall entirely on Eve.
Milton, on the other hand, is attempting to explore this biblical story in Paradise Lost to prove that
Adam and Eve had free will, thus absolving God of responsibility for the fall. Lanyer and Milton
differ in their portrayal of the fall through their depiction of Adam and Eve s relationship and their
ideas about the free will of each of the characters. These factors ultimately lead Milton to present a
portrait of the fall that seems more balanced and accurate. One of the reasons for which Milton and
Lanyer portray the Fall differently in their texts is because of their views on the relationship between
Adam and Eve. Firstly, although Lanyer does acknowledge that Adam and Eve share a strong bond,
she often represents the relationship of Adam and Eve as a dictatorship, portraying Adam as the
dictator. Because of this unbalanced power structure, which, in Lanyer s eyes, overtly favors Adam
over Eve, Lanyer absolves Eve of responsibility for the Fall and places the blame squarely on Adam
even though Eve offered the fruit to Adam. In portraying this perceived power structure, Lanyer states,
Let not us women glory in men s fall / Who had power given to overrule us all (Lanyer,

Impact Of Reconstruction On African Americans
How Reconstruction Helped African Americans Achieve the American Dream
INTRO
Body Paragraph number 1(NO argument)
Reconstruction did not help African Americans move closer to the American Dream. Even though
there were positives, there were also negatives. Due to Reconstruction, hate groups started, there was
not any safety for African Americans, and the Black Codes or Jim Crow laws. One of the most
infamous hate groups to rise was the Klu Klux Klan. KKK for short. African Americans were
terrorized by this group. They are responsible for many hangings, burnings, and other horrors that
were inflicted upon African Americans. Also, there was not any safety from the groups. It was not like
being in the center of a city was going to help. There are unfortunately many pictures of African
Americans being hanged in very populated areas. Also, there was the rise of Black Codes(Jim Crow
laws). It is like how the saying goes, out of the frying pan and into the fire. Some of the codes, but not
limited to, was the Grandfather clause, which basically said that if your grandfather could not vote,
you cannot vote. There were also many other ways that African Americans were restricted from
voting. There was poll tax, and unfair evaluations of voting tests. This also included segregation of
schools (separate but equal). There was even a law forbidding a white person from marrying a black
person. However, even though all of these horrific things came because the end of slavery,

Stem Cells Essay
Mesenchymal stem cells go on to develop into: connective tissue, like adipocytes, stromal cells or
tenocytes; muscle tissues, from myoblasts into skeletal, cardiac and smooth muscle types; cartilage,
which is created when an osteochondral progenitor cell develops into a chondroblast then a
chondrocyte; or bone tissue, which is also developed from an osteochondral progenitor cell, into an
osteoblast, then an osteocyte.
Hematopoietic stem cells are what create all the different components of blood.
They develop into Myeloid Progenitor cells, which then go on to develop into erythroblasts (create
erythrocytes, or red blood cells), megakaryoblasts (create megakaryocytes and thrombocytes, which

It then develops into a polychromatophilic normoblast. At this stage, the cytoplasm begins to create
haemoglobin, changing the colour to dark grey blue, and the chromatin in the nucleus becomes more
condensed and knotted.
Then, the nuclei completely shrink, forming a orthochromatic normoblast, which then develops into a
reticulocyte, an immature red blood cell.
Neutrophils
Neutrophils are also created from myeloid Progenitor cells, but they then develop into myeloblasts,
which create the three types of granulocyte, including neutrophils.
Stem Cells in Medicine
There are many potential benefits of stem cell research, however, there is a lot more intensive stem
cell research that needs to be done to bridge the gap between the promise of stem cells and the actual
reality of these uses.
There are many areas of medicine where stem cells could be applied, and range from the development
of new drugs, possibly for conditions that have no treatments or cures, to cell therapies, where stem
cells are used to replace failing or damaged tissue.
Together, cardiovascular diseases, such as heart disease, and cancers are the top two causes of death.
Regenerative medicine, using stem cells, has the potential to be able to repair heart damage and
perhaps improve cancer treatments.

Bear Attack Research Papers
Although uncommon, it s not other worldly to be attacked by a black bear in the wilderness. It s hard
to say how the body would react in certain situations. Sort of like a plane crash. The flight attendant
gives instructions on how to deal with the crash and what the procedure is, but when a plane is really
crashing there is a lot more panic involved. The same goes for a bear attack. At the sight of a charging
bear, the initial reaction and instinct of a human is to run. Bears are actually faster than horses and can
climb more effectively than squirrels, making running away the worst possible option. When traveling
through bear territory, it s best to make lots of noise. This generally startles the bear and sends it into a
scurry. When in the face of a bear however, this is the last thing a human should do. In fact, the proper
thing to do when a bear attacks is much easier than running; playing dead. It s hard to believe, but
playing dead really works. Because bears usually attack humans when they feel threatened, playing
dead is the perfect solution. Once the bear believes you are dead, that means the threat is eliminated
and the bear will usually move on. Once the bear is at a safe distance, it is ok then to get up and call or
go for help. It is imperative, however, that the human must play dead until the bear is long gone. The

INTRODUCTION The landscape of music industry has undeniably changed during the past 15 years.
The advancing technology made a big impact on how we produce, market, promote, monetize and
consume music. In my essay response I will be focusing on three themes: music production, branding
and music consumption with my overarching theme being Technology. For an established or up and
coming band in 90s there were four possible income sources: touring, merchandising, recordings and
publishing. These income sources are still here, but there are so much more options now. This is the
reason why for bands and artists it is more difficult now then it was back then, because they have all
these choices to make (Bertis Downs, 2012). To be a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2014 the overall music market value was only $14.97 billion (IFPI, 2014). The music record
industry went into decline because of the advancing computers and telecommunication technologies,
new MP3 format and Peer to Peer file sharing websites. Consumers stopped buying tangible formats
like CDs and preferred to have everything on their hard drives. They were also able to get music for
free, because there was no enforceable law forbidding them. The technology has also changed the
relationship between the record label and the artist. Record label would pay all the costs in a typical
contract, which covers studio costs, session musicians, producers and engineers. Music is now being
recorded in digital format and not analog, which reduces the costs together with distribution being
digital downloads and streaming. This means that artists can take care of the whole process from start
to finish. MUSIC PRODUCTION Technology is like a river and can change its direction completely.
It can move in a different direction from what once was considered to be true and into one expected
logically in the future. The cost and accessibility barrier is lowered with every new technology
arriving and therefore the competition is increasing (Peter Alexander, 1994). In late 80s digital music
recording was emerging, but with technological limitations like computer memory and speed, the
artist couldn t do more than sampling. In early and mid 90s hardware got better and more

Computer Field And Technical Education Programs
The lack of qualified employees in computer and technology fields is a perplexing issue for the United
States as it strives to stay competitive in a global economy. According to an article by the Bureau of
National Affairs, two of the top three toughest jobs to fill are technology related (Bureau of National
Affairs, 2012, p. 6). Although there are many theories as to why more students are not choosing to
major in some type of computer field, resolutions to this problem are slow in developing. Could a
solution be emerging from career and technical education programs? In 2012 Microsoft Corporation
sponsored a study that estimated the U.S. creates 120,000 new computer science jobs each year.
Colleges and universities, however, are only graduating 49,000 students per year with degrees to fill
those positions. This gap has companies scrambling to find qualified personnel and many are turning
to foreign workers using the H1 B Visa program (Beach, 2013, p. 3). With 7.9 million Americans
unemployed, this is not a popular choice and creates a potential image problem for companies (United
States Department of Labor, 2015). Once considered a dumping ground for students who could not
handle a typical high school curriculum, career and technical education has progressed over the last 30
years. Now, students from a variety of academic levels enroll in CTE programs (Hoachlander, 2008, p.
25). Additionally, pathways once considered specific to a certain gender are being

The Company s First Warehouse Operating Under The Name Of...
mpany Background/Introduction
The company s first location was opened in 1976 under the name of Price Club. Originally it served
only small businesses, but later on it found that it could increase its sales by extending its services to
non business members. The first warehouse operating under the name, Costco, began functioning in
1983 in Seattle, Washington. In 1993 Costco and Price Club merged. Today, the company operates
under Costco Wholesale name and has its warehouses all across the world. As of the end of 2015 it
has close to 700 warehouses in total located in United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Mexico,
Japan, Australia, Spain, Taiwan and Korea. Costco s common stock trades on the NASDAQ Global
Select Market under the symbol ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, it operates gasoline stations and manufacturing businesses such as special food packaging,
optical laboratories and meat processing. Costco is open only to its members and offers three
membership types for purchase: Business, Gold Star and the Executive membership.
Investment Risk Factors
Costco has many risks associated with its financial and operational performance. One of the biggest
risks that Costco is facing todays is the competition from other retailers and wholesalers, such as Wal
Mart and Target. Costco compete with its competitors for customers, qualified employees and
management personnel, suitable sites and suppliers. The retail business is extremely competitive and
continues to get even more completive. Such events as the evolution of retailing in online channels has
improved the ability of customers to compare prices and products and as a result enhanced
competition. Any significant increases of competition may adversely affect Costco s financial
performance, and make Costco incapable to compete successfully in the future.
Majority of Costco warehouses is located in U.S. and Canada. Therefore, Costco s financial and
operational performance is highly dependent on U.S. and Canadian operations. Within the U.S. it is
highly dependent on its California operations, which contained almost third of U.S. net sales. Any
substantial decline in California operations could

The Existence Of God In Beowulf
In history, many cultures have accepted the existence of God(s), such as Greece and they are described
as a helper or enemy of people. For example, in ancient Greece, various Gods are involved in the
fights to support a group of people or go against them. Similarly, in the Anglo Saxon text, Beowulf,
the poet refers to God as the protector of Beowulf and someone who oversees everything, while
describing God as a punisher of Grendel the monster. It is apparent that the author is Christian by
showing spirituality in the book. In addition, the poet provides many details in the story that concerns
with spirituality and considers God as the sole entity controlling everything and the characters in
Beowulf are either with or against him. In Beowulf, the monster Grendel is referred to being related to
the story of Cain and Abel from the bible. These two brothers are the children of Adam and Eve, the
first humans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everybody in the Cain s clan is cursed only by God and because one of their ancestors committed a
sin. The poet incorporates these Christian stories to give reasons to why the Danes hate Grendel and
excludes him from society. On the other side, God protects people like Beowulf because he shows
courage, honesty, pride, and humility.
Moreover, the poet includes abundant Christian references in Beowulf, such as indicating that God
protected and supported Beowulf. Beowulf, opposite of Grendel, is favored by god because he showed
courage by helping the Danes to kill Grendel. He also shows bravery when he says:
As God is my witness, I would rather my body were robed in the same burning blaze as my gold giver
s body than go back home bearing arms. That is unthinkable, unless we have first slain the foe and
defended the life of the prince of the Weather Geats. I well know the things he has done for us deserve
better. Should he alone be left

The Relief and Intaglio Printmaking Process
Describe the Relief Printmaking process. List an artist who uses the form of printmaking. Refer to this
video for more information.
The Relief Printmaking process is a printmaking process in which someone covers a block of material,
such as wood, in ink. Then they proceed to deeply etch out the inked surface in the form of a design.
Once that is done, they lay paper over the block with pressure so that the ink is shared generously all
over the paper. When the paper is removed, the design will have been transferred and they will have
the finished artwork. Using a block of wood is known as Woodcut Relief Printmaking, or Woodcuts .
There are also Wood Engravings, where a stronger type of wood is used so an artist can engrave an
image into the surface rather than cut it out. In my opinion, the second step of the process could be left
to remain as the art itself. In the video showing the process as Lyell Castonguay created his piece,
Hydra , I thought the design in the ink coated wood looked more bold and real than the actually piece.
But this may only be for the reason that the finished product lacked color in comparison. Of course,
Lyell isn t the only artist who uses this printmaking process. Another artist who uses Relief
Printmaking is Katsushika Hokusai. Hokusai used the same process to create his color woodcut piece
called South Wind, Clear Sky , a portrayal of Mount Fuji. Describe the Intaglio Printmaking process.
List an artist who uses this form of printmaking.

Subtext In Maggie, A Girl Of The Streets
In the late 1800 s thousands of immigrants fled to Ellis Island in hopes of a new life in the United
States. Among these immigrants included many irish individuals similar to that of the Johnston family,
the family that the story, Maggie, A Girl of the Streets revolves around. This story is a short novella
written by Stephen Crane and provides a glimpse into the life of immigrants and first generation
Americans, living in poverty in New York City during the Gilded Age. The author often evades
confronting the reader with the details of the plot and instead alludes to certain actions in the story. He
often allows the reader to develop their own sense of what is happening in the span of the novel s
timeline. Crane uses subtext to draw the emphasis away from Maggie and towards what a life of
poverty and isolation in the Bowery of New York can cause a person to succumb to.
On the surface level, Maggie is a story of a young women living in poverty, but when the subtext is
analyzed the story carries a much deeper meaning about isolation and hardship. Maggie begins her life
as a beautiful young lady that seems almost pure considering the conditions she arose from. The girl,
Maggie, blossomed in a mud puddle...None of the dirt of Rum Alley seemed to run in her veins (16).
Her countenance is never described however she often receives many looks from men and Pete says
he is stuck on her shape (). Nonetheless, being an attractive women did not provide for an easy life. As

Research Paper On Charlie Chaplin
Lights, Camera, Action! A common phrase we all know today. Three simple words said by so many of
the greats! The famous words uttered by the greatest silent film star, Charlie Chaplin. Chaplin has
blessed the lives of many throughout his eighty or so years of life. Chaplin isn t a war hero neither
does he risk his life for others. Chaplin is a hero in his own way. He spent his life entertaining others,
making them laugh, cry, or even getting them riled up. Chaplin was able to overcome childhood
struggles and impact society with his films while becoming the Hollywood icon we all know today.
Beloved childhood cartoons like Tom Jerry and Laurel Hardy actually found their inspiration from a
certain baggy trousered man, Charlie Chaplin. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Godfather Film Analysis
The Godfather, directed by Francis Coppola follows a family deeply entangled in the New York
organized crime world. The film is a classic, and at one point was the highest grossing film in
American History. Winning countless awards, such as the Oscar for Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best
Adapted Screenplay. The film isSomething that goes unnoticed in the film, but plays a huge impact on
how the film is perceived is the camera work. The God Father uses various camera techniques, such as
visual obstruction, lighting manipulation, and a variety of camera angles to enhance the mood of the
scene.
In many of the scenes in the God Father, there is some type of visual obstruction prohibiting the
viewer from seeing a full, uninterrupted screen. The effect of this has on the film is that it places the
viewer in the movie, making it feel more authentic. For the majority of the opening scene, while
speaking to the God Father, Bonasers body is covering the right third of the screen. When the camera
perspectives changes and Bonaser come into frame, the Godfather s head covers the lower third of the
screen. During the interaction between the two characters, the viewer doesn t ever get a clear shot of
either of them speaking. Such obstruction is incredibly intentional. The effect this has on the scene is
that it makes it feel more authentic. The obstruction places the viewer in the scene, emulating the
perspective one would get if they were actually sitting behind either of the characters.

Aokigahara Research Paper
Located at the base of Mt. Fuji, Aokigahara is perhaps the most infamous forest in all of Japan. Also
known as the Sea of Trees, Suicide Forest, and Japan s Demon Forest, Aokigahara has been home to
over 500 confirmed suicides since the 1950s . The Aokigahara forest has a horrifying history, a variety
of different people who visit, also locals and workers have it worse than people think.
The history of Aokigahara is horrifying. Even before now, as Aokigahara being known as the suicide

The forest workers have it even worse than the police who comb and investigate the forest. The
workers are tasked with the job of carrying the bodies down from the forest to the local station, where
the bodies are put in a special room used specifically to house suicide corpses . The forest workers
then play janken, rock paper scissors, to see who has to sleep in the room with the corpse. The reason
for these strange sleeping arrangements is that it is believed if the corpse is left alone, it s very bad
luck for the ghost of the suicide victim. Their spirits are said to scream throughout the night if left
alone, and their bodies will get up and shuffle around, searching for company . The people who live
by always know what type of person is going into the forest. There are three types: the curious ones,
just the visitors, and the people who plan a one way trip. Police say that the number of suicides is no
longer released due to the abundant amount. Last number released was in 2010 and the number was 54
dead and 247 people who tried. The people who work in the little shops and cafes around Aokigahara
talk to many of the people before they go in. People have said if they wouldn t have talked to them,
they would not be alive. There is also a sign posted by the entrance of Aokigahara that states Your life

Prohibition Movement Research Paper
The numerous parallels between the prohibition of alcohol and the current drug war are uncanny. The
primary groups leading the prohibition movement were the Women s Christian Temperance Union
(WCTU) and the Anti Saloon League (ASL). Both groups represented large, religious non partisan
voting blocs which blamed alcohol for much of society s problems. They specialized in high pressure
tactics and effectively ousted politicians who didn t vote accordingly. In fact, the ASL s leader, Wayne
Wheeler, proudly coined the term pressure group.
These groups were shameless and limitless propagandists. Ethics be hanged, said William Eugene
Pussyfoot Johnson, one of the most aggressive members of the ASL. Johnson literally bribed
newspapers from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many in the north supported this propaganda and the timing coincided with a massive influx of
immigrants of Italian, German, and Eastern European heritage. For instance, some prohibition
handouts stated that Dagos, who drink excessively, live in a state of filth and use the knife on the
slightest provocation. In addition, Purley Baker of the ASL asserted that Germans eat like gluttons and
drink like swine. That kind of anti immigrant, in particular anti German, message gained even more
traction during World War I. Wayne Wheeler of the ASL called the Brewers Association the enemy in
the home camp and their pamphlets warned of treasonable liquor trade. Wheeler, along with some
politicians, publicly implored the government to investigate Anheuser Busch and some other
Milwaukee manufacturers because of their German

Victoria Chemicals Report
Introduction The following report shows that the proposal of the modernisation project should obtain
funding from the corporate headquarters of Victoria Chemicals. The project has an initial outlay of
GBP12 million to renovate and rationalise the polypropylene production line at Merseyside plant. This
is done in order to make up for deferred maintenance and exploit opportunities to achieve increased
efficiency. This report will look at the following four main areas of concern in order to calculate the
feasibility of this Merseyside Project: * The cost of GBP2 million for the purchase of new rolling
stock being allocated to the Transport Division or to the Merseyside project. * The cannibalization
affect on Rotterdam ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Transport Division would have to pay nothing if it was included in the initial outlay of the
Merseyside Project, yet the Transport Division would gain the benefits from the project with extra
throughput 2 years early at no cost to them, except increased maintenance of their trucks. We do
acknowledge that this is a big assumption to make saying that the Merseyside project should not take
on any transport costs. Therefore we put in the clause that if taking on the Merseyside project
decreases the NPV of their project we can come to some sort of agreement over the percentage of
costs each division should take for the purchase of the new tank cars. There is also an agency problem
here with the executive VP of Transport Division and Intermediate Chemicals Group who receive an
annual incentive bonus pegged to the performance of their division. Hence both executive VP s would
want to reduce costs as much as possible and try off load any cost they can to another division.
Concerns of the ICG Sales and Marketing Department The director of sales raised the issue that the
company wouldn t be able to sell the extra output that the project would produce. Instead of selling
more units in total the Liverpool plant would just cannibalize Rotterdam s sales. Therefore the
company would not be able to take full advantage of the efficiencies of the new project. We disagree
with the directors belief that the new sales will all be

The Original Argument: The Federalists Case for the Constitution, Adapted for the 21st Century. New York: Threshold Editions, 2011. Print. 398 pages Summary Instead of the Beck and Charles telling a story of a significant person to make a point the Authors discussed the original argument for the United States Constitution. The argument was originally written by the federalists in the late 18th century. These historical documents are commonly referred to as the federalist papers. Beck and Charles go over seven different topics and arguments discussed in the federalist papers. Part One: Novus ordo seclorum: A New Order For the Ages is all about the new way of thinking once the colonies declared independence from England. It discussed how new concepts were being introduced and why a new order was needed for that particular time. In fact Alexander Hamilton sounded a lot like Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln s main objective as president was also to preserve the Union. Hamilton wrote, Nothing remains as obvious as the fact that either the new Constitution will be adopted or the Union will be torn apart. It is therefore necessary to examine the advantages of the Union, as well as the evils and dangers that would result from its disbanding. By integrating this image into his story, Shakespeare allowed fellow English citizens to feel superior, which continued their nationalist sentiments. Ironically the 1965 act was in response to issues with low academic performance of impoverished students (as will be discussed later, standardized testing has a negative impact on low income students). The groundwork for Common Core as we know it was laid out much later. During the Bush administration the No Child Left behind created a standardized test purgatory. Schools facilitated cheating and a chronic issue with schools lowering the passing rates created unsustainable issues. The economic recession and the Obama Administration also attempted to reform the system with what is known as the Race to the Top . Under this system there was a funding incentive for high performing schools. This system also relied heavily on standardized testing. An interesting repercussion of the Race to the Top is that it created a massive data drive to collect student information. Carassius auratus auratus(goldfish) are native to eastern Asia and was first discovered by the Chinese. Place the cup with the goldfish into the bowl filled with water. Measure the temperature of the water in the bowl with the thermometer to find the room temperature and after when you added the ice to cool the water down. The room temperature should be around 20 degrees Celsius. Wait for 3 minutes for the goldfish to adjust to the environment. Count the number of breaths of the goldfish per 15 seconds by counting the number of times when the gill cover open and close. Slowly added the ice to the bowl to cool down the water temperature. Repeat the process for 20 degrees Celsius, 17.5 degrees Celsius and 10 degrees Celsius. III. Result As the temperature gradually decreases, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Washington Irving Contributions After the first wave of immigrants settled in America, it was up to the next generation, their children, to isolate themselves from European cultures. One such child of the second generation was Washington Irving, who felt inspired by both his country s history and stories of other cultures told by fellow immigrants, to be the catalyst for a new wave of literature. Through the perfectly captured spirit of America in his work, Washington Irving was the first to show the rest of the world what his country had to offer to the literary world. Washington Irving was born in New York City in 1783, named after General George Washington who led the United States to winning the American Revolution. He was the youngest of eleven siblings to Scottish English parents, and was taught by them at home. Under his brother Peter, an editor for the newspaper The Morning Chronicle, Washington started writing for him at age 18. He published essays and letters under the name Jonathan Oldstyle, the first of various pseudonyms used throughout his literary career. In 1804, Washington left for France originally to inquire about his health, but was so charmed by the people and culture that he decided to stay and travel to other countries in Europe like the Netherlands, Wales, and Spain for the next two years. After returning to New York City, Irving began practicing law, working as a clerk under Josiah Ogden Hoffman. As a child, he seemed to be more of a daydreamer than a scholar, and was more interested in socializing and working with his friends. With his brother William and friend James Kirke Paulding, Washington started the Salmagundi Papers, also known as The Opinions of Launcelot Langstaff in 1809. These essays served as satirical periodicals to offset the other, gloomier news articles of the time. While short lived, it was met with success and positive reviews, people appreciating its Swift esque sense of humor and style. That same year, he was inspired to write History of New York from the Beginning of the World to the End of the Dutch Dynasty, a historical novel being his first major work under Diedrich Knickerbocker. Transfersomes, a novel class of modified liposomes, was first reported by Cevc [Cevc et al; 1992] and are described as deformable, elastic or ultra flexible liposomes or vesicles [Benson; 2006]. They are claimed to improve in vitro transdermal delivery of a variety of drugs. The deformability possessed by transfersomes is the outcome of incorporation of an edge activator within the phospholipid bilayers and this improves elasticity by means of lipid bilayer destabilization [Dubey et al; 2007]. Commonly used edge activators are single chain surfactants such as sodium cholate and Tween 80. Conflict theory declares that social problems occur when dominant groups, which are the men in the workforce, mistreat subordinate ones such as the women, and thus advocates for a power imbalance between genders . Marx viewed the society in two parts, the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. In this social phenomenon, the men represent the people who control all the power and the women represent the people who are being controlled. Men and women are constantly in the battle to obtain the most factors of production, yet men seem to have an unfair advantage due to their gender. For example during job interviews, some questions may revolve around what gender the applicant is. Women are more likely asked about their duties outside of home or if they are expecting to have children. Singeling women out by suggesting they would need times to miss work especially due to maternity leave, portrays women as not being the best fit for the job. They begin to feel vulnerable and not capable of handling the job. Some conflict theorists believe that the reason these roles continue is because the dominant group naturally works to maintain their power and status though the less powerful group and this becomes habitualized in society. Also conflict and inequality are developed by the unequal distribution of social capital. At the time, pacemaker technology was extremely new and had yet to develop into the ground breaking product that it is today. It is known that pacemakers have failed before, but it can be assumed that the aforementioned pacemakers did not have this company s transistor in it or else they most likely would ve already left the contract. • 29. The Tragedy Of King Lear By William Shakespeare In the eyes of many, the world might appear to entail solely happiness and prosperity. Beyond the oblivion is arguably a more practical depiction of real life, filled with cold truths and merciless mistakes. Few figures in history have captured this essence of reality to such a high degree as Aristotle, a revolutionary thinker whose ideas shaped Greek tragedy. Within his theory of tragedy is the concept of the tragic hero, whose great, ironic flaw leads to his own downfall. The tragic hero is of an elevated position in society but should, all the same, be a character with whom the audience can relate. The hero undergoes a massive revelation and experiences dramatic enlightenment. The tragedy of King Lear, written by William Shakespeare, illustrates the story of a proud and self centered king, whose obtuse judgement shapes his demise. Lear s impulsive actions catalyze a chain of events, inspiring emotion from the characters and the audience alike. On the surface, King Lear fits the description of Aristotle s tragic hero. Discrepancies in Lear s tale, however, contradict the idea of an idyllic relationship between Lear and the philosophies of Aristotle. Lear s faults correspond to those of the audience, but their extremity proves to be unique. One might think King Lear becomes cognizant of his decisions, but his fall to insanity acts in conflict. • 34. Analysis Of Eve s Apology On The Fall Of Humanity Essay Although Aemilia Lanyer and John Milton were both writing on the Fall of humanity, their approaches to this topic were vastly different. Lanyer wrote Eve s Apology in Defense of Women, in order to combat the widely believed cultural idea of the time that placed the fault of the Fall entirely on Eve. Milton, on the other hand, is attempting to explore this biblical story in Paradise Lost to prove that Adam and Eve had free will, thus absolving God of responsibility for the fall. Lanyer and Milton differ in their portrayal of the fall through their depiction of Adam and Eve s relationship and their ideas about the free will of each of the characters. These factors ultimately lead Milton to present a portrait of the fall that seems more balanced and accurate. One of the reasons for which Milton and Lanyer portray the Fall differently in their texts is because of their views on the relationship between Adam and Eve. Firstly, although Lanyer does acknowledge that Adam and Eve share a strong bond, she often represents the relationship of Adam and Eve as a dictatorship, portraying Adam as the dictator. Because of this unbalanced power structure, which, in Lanyer s eyes, overtly favors Adam over Eve, Lanyer absolves Eve of responsibility for the Fall and places the blame squarely on Adam even though Eve offered the fruit to Adam. At this stage, the cytoplasm begins to create haemoglobin, changing the colour to dark grey blue, and the chromatin in the nucleus becomes more condensed and knotted. Then, the nuclei completely shrink, forming a orthochromatic normoblast, which then develops into a reticulocyte, an immature red blood cell. Neutrophils Neutrophils are also created from myeloid Progenitor cells, but they then develop into myeloblasts, which create the three types of granulocyte, including neutrophils. Stem Cells in Medicine There are many potential benefits of stem cell research, however, there is a lot more intensive stem cell research that needs to be done to bridge the gap between the promise of stem cells and the actual reality of these uses. There are many areas of medicine where stem cells could be applied, and range from the development of new drugs, possibly for conditions that have no treatments or cures, to cell therapies, where stem cells are used to replace failing or damaged tissue. Together, cardiovascular diseases, such as heart disease, and cancers are the top two causes of death. Regenerative medicine, using stem cells, has the potential to be able to repair heart damage and perhaps improve cancer treatments. Instead of burning coal and natural gas, we can use more wind turbines, hydro electric dams and other green electricity options. • 40. Bear Attack Research Papers Although uncommon, it s not other worldly to be attacked by a black bear in the wilderness. It s hard to say how the body would react in certain situations. Sort of like a plane crash. The flight attendant gives instructions on how to deal with the crash and what the procedure is, but when a plane is really crashing there is a lot more panic involved. The same goes for a bear attack. At the sight of a charging bear, the initial reaction and instinct of a human is to run. Bears are actually faster than horses and can climb more effectively than squirrels, making running away the worst possible option. When traveling through bear territory, it s best to make lots of noise. This generally startles the bear and sends it into a scurry. When in the face of a bear however, this is the last thing a human should do. In fact, the proper thing to do when a bear attacks is much easier than running; playing dead. It s hard to believe, but playing dead really works. Because bears usually attack humans when they feel threatened, playing dead is the perfect solution. Once the bear believes you are dead, that means the threat is eliminated and the bear will usually move on. Once the bear is at a safe distance, it is ok then to get up and call or go for help. It is imperative, however, that the human must play dead until the bear is long gone. The bear may actually feel more threatened if the human gets up and calls for help too fast. The advancing technology made a big impact on how we produce, market, promote, monetize and consume music. In my essay response I will be focusing on three themes: music production, branding and music consumption with my overarching theme being Technology. For an established or up and coming band in 90s there were four possible income sources: touring, merchandising, recordings and publishing. These income sources are still here, but there are so much more options now. This is the reason why for bands and artists it is more difficult now then it was back then, because they have all these choices to make (Bertis Downs, 2012). To be a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 2014 the overall music market value was only $14.97 billion (IFPI, 2014). The music record industry went into decline because of the advancing computers and telecommunication technologies, new MP3 format and Peer to Peer file sharing websites. Consumers stopped buying tangible formats like CDs and preferred to have everything on their hard drives. They were also able to get music for free, because there was no enforceable law forbidding them. The technology has also changed the relationship between the record label and the artist. Record label would pay all the costs in a typical contract, which covers studio costs, session musicians, producers and engineers. Music is now being recorded in digital format and not analog, which reduces the costs together with distribution being digital downloads and streaming. This means that artists can take care of the whole process from start to finish. MUSIC PRODUCTION Technology is like a river and can change its direction completely. It can move in a different direction from what once was considered to be true and into one expected logically in the future. The cost and accessibility barrier is lowered with every new technology arriving and therefore the competition is increasing (Peter Alexander, 1994). In late 80s digital music recording was emerging, but with technological limitations like computer memory and speed, the artist couldn t do more than sampling. • 42. Computer Field And Technical Education Programs The lack of qualified employees in computer and technology fields is a perplexing issue for the United States as it strives to stay competitive in a global economy. According to an article by the Bureau of National Affairs, two of the top three toughest jobs to fill are technology related (Bureau of National Affairs, 2012, p. 6). Although there are many theories as to why more students are not choosing to major in some type of computer field, resolutions to this problem are slow in developing. Could a solution be emerging from career and technical education programs? In 2012 Microsoft Corporation sponsored a study that estimated the U.S. creates 120,000 new computer science jobs each year. Colleges and universities, however, are only graduating 49,000 students per year with degrees to fill those positions. This gap has companies scrambling to find qualified personnel and many are turning to foreign workers using the H1 B Visa program (Beach, 2013, p. 3). With 7.9 million Americans unemployed, this is not a popular choice and creates a potential image problem for companies (United States Department of Labor, 2015). Once considered a dumping ground for students who could not handle a typical high school curriculum, career and technical education has progressed over the last 30 years. For example, in ancient Greece, various Gods are involved in the fights to support a group of people or go against them. Similarly, in the Anglo Saxon text, Beowulf, the poet refers to God as the protector of Beowulf and someone who oversees everything, while describing God as a punisher of Grendel the monster. It is apparent that the author is Christian by showing spirituality in the book. In addition, the poet provides many details in the story that concerns with spirituality and considers God as the sole entity controlling everything and the characters in Beowulf are either with or against him. The Relief Printmaking process is a printmaking process in which someone covers a block of material, such as wood, in ink. Then they proceed to deeply etch out the inked surface in the form of a design. Once that is done, they lay paper over the block with pressure so that the ink is shared generously all over the paper. When the paper is removed, the design will have been transferred and they will have the finished artwork. Using a block of wood is known as Woodcut Relief Printmaking, or Woodcuts . There are also Wood Engravings, where a stronger type of wood is used so an artist can engrave an image into the surface rather than cut it out. In my opinion, the second step of the process could be left to remain as the art itself. In the video showing the process as Lyell Castonguay created his piece, Hydra , I thought the design in the ink coated wood looked more bold and real than the actually piece. But this may only be for the reason that the finished product lacked color in comparison. Of course, Lyell isn t the only artist who uses this printmaking process. The God Father uses various camera techniques, such as visual obstruction, lighting manipulation, and a variety of camera angles to enhance the mood of the scene. In many of the scenes in the God Father, there is some type of visual obstruction prohibiting the viewer from seeing a full, uninterrupted screen. The effect of this has on the film is that it places the viewer in the movie, making it feel more authentic. For the majority of the opening scene, while speaking to the God Father, Bonasers body is covering the right third of the screen. When the camera perspectives changes and Bonaser come into frame, the Godfather s head covers the lower third of the screen. During the interaction between the two characters, the viewer doesn t ever get a clear shot of either of them speaking. Such obstruction is incredibly intentional. Therefore we put in the clause that if taking on the Merseyside project decreases the NPV of their project we can come to some sort of agreement over the percentage of costs each division should take for the purchase of the new tank cars.
