Galileo s Influence On Nicolaus Copernicus
During the 16th and 17th centuries, a scientific revolution transpires which inevitably yields the basis
of our modern scientific knowledge. This new vision in science has been examined by the use of
sophisticated mathematics along with observations. One of the revolutionary discoveries is honored to
the famed Polish astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus. He developed a heliocentric model of the universe.
Prior to his time, an earth centered model, also known as the Ptolemaic model, was believed because it
was simply common sense that the earth was motionless as the sun rises and set from east to west,
respectively. Unlike Nicolaus Copernicus, his predecessors believed in geocentrism; the theory which

Therefore, one would not dare to oppose the church s beliefs as it may result with consequences.
Copernicus was well aware of this, therefore, he published his work shortly before his death.
Additionally, his book was also banned. Later on, his book entitled De Revolutionibus Orbium
Celestium, translated to On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres, has been an influential in our
time. Although there was one scholar, after Copernicus s time, by the name of Galileo, who suffered a
consequence appointed by the church. Galileo was permitted to write about new scientific theories
because in his time, in 1623 Pope Urban VIII had an appreciation for such new discoveries. Galileo
was able to support the heliocentric theory as he used the revolutionary instrument, the telescope,
systematically. The observations he made explained that Copernicus is in fact right. Therefore, Galileo
wrote a book entitled Two Chief Systems of the World in 1632, which he defends Copernicus theory
and censures the Ptolemy s and Aristotle s model. Inevitably, the papal Inquisition placed Galileo on
trial for heresy. He was punished for his writing, that was banned, and he was also put under house
arrest until the day he

The Relationship Between Constitutional And Physical Force...
This analysis will look at how historians have attempted to explain the relationship between
constitutional and physical force nationalism/republicanism.
In the book Irish Peasants Violence and Political Unrest 1780 1914 editors Samuel Clark and James S.
Donnelly Jr. suggest, in the opening paragraph, that poverty related rebellion in Ireland became
commonplace during the late 18th and early 19th century that led to the ideas of a separatist republic.
These events gave rise to, at first, a constitutional nationalist party called The Society of United
Irishmen that sought parliamentary reform and to make this change they worked through parliament
before later becoming an armed revolutionary group. Focusing on this time period and going on the
writings of Clark and Donnelly it could be argued that the relationship between constitutional and
physical force nationalism was, at this time, a unified one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perry Curtis Jr. in his article Moral and Physical Force: The Language of Violence in Irish
Nationalism points out that constitutional and physical force nationalism existed side by side in Irish
politics up until the Anglo Irish Treaty of 1921. It appears that for a substantial period in Ireland
constitutional nationalism and physical force republicanism stood on equal ground until people had an
opportunity for their own parliament and then the physical force tradition succumb to constitutional
politics. Curtis also alludes to a point made earlier in this piece in how both nationalist traditions
shared similar goals despite having different approaches to the issue of British rule. Curtis argues that
the relationship between constitutional and physical force nationalism became bound in a close and
complex way that had the effect of increasing both the strength of nationalism and the difficulties for
Britain in dealing with the Irish Question. This relationship in question can be said to be a bit unusual
but worked out to be extremely effective for

of our big box rivals. The dominance of big box retail fuels the demand for a convenient alternative.

The United States Women s National Team
The United States women s national soccer team is being torn under discrimination and how they are
being treated as an individual. Throughout the years, the women have accomplished so much more
than the men, but yet are being paid less than what the men are making. They have experienced rough
conditions of the fields when they play their matches, which can lead to serious career ending injuries.
The women have had enough of this situation and they plan to bring this up to the U.S Soccer
Federation, they hope the men will stick up for them and help them fight for their rights, the women
hope to get rid of Astroturf altogether and quit playing their matches on it, and has the federation been
like this for a long time. So over the years of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The importance is to know how they feel about this situation, which can put in a different perspective
on how you were chosen to represent a country but get brought down because of gender. It s our
responsibility to know what s right and what s wrong in the federation and stick up for the people
being torn and brought down from discrimination. The U.S Soccer Federation is being brought to
attention and being investigated of the discrimination towards the women. For example, The U.S
Soccer Federation is a 501 nonprofit and the official governing body of the sport of soccer in the
United States. (Wikipedia1). This clearly demonstrates that the federation is in charge of the soccer,
and it is understood that they are more than capable of changing the discrimination between the
women and the men. The significance is that being the federation they have all of the power to
determine how much pay each national team gets, and only they can do what s right in this situation.
In addition, According to a budget report from the U.S Soccer Federation, the women s team is
projected to bring in more than $17 million in revenues, including a $5 million surplus for a fiscal year
2017, nearly doubling their male counterparts. (Santhanam1). This quote can help the women out by

Vitamin B Pill Synthesis Lab Report
Purpose In this laboratory, the mass of riboflavin in a vitamin B pill was determined by using the
florescence spectrometry technique. Analytically Relevant Chemical Level Processes A photon of
energy is, first, supplied by external light source. This creates an excited electronic singlet state. The
excited state exists for only a finite time. During this amount of this extremely short amount of time,
the fluorophore undergoes conformational changes while also being subject to a multitude of possible
interactions with its molecular environment. This process caused the fluorophore to lose some energy.
This yield a relaxed singlet excited state from which the fluorescence emission originates. A photon of
energy is, then, emitted, turning the fluorophore back to its ground state. The energy of this photon is
lower producing a longer wavelength. Instrumentation Procedure ... Show more content on

The Epic War By Homer
The Iliad may be seen as an account of circumstances that really change the life of one man, Achilles,
one of the greatest Achaeans warriors. The loyal war hero is the main character in the Iliad. It is his
storyline that creates the essence of the epic war written by Homer. When the poem is first read it
seems as though the main theme is about the dominance, gruesomeness, horror, and plain destruction
of Troy, however this is not the main focus. We see Achilles transform from youth to adulthood and go
through fundamental personality and character changes from a ferocious warrior in the beginning to a
more reserved and hospitable man by the end of the poem.
Nine years after the start of the Trojan War, the Achaeans attack Chryse, a small town allied with Troy.
During the battle, the Achaeans capture two beautiful maidens, Chryseis and Briseis. Agamemnon, the
forces leader, takes Chryseis as his prize, and Achilles claims Briseis. For their selfishness Apollo
sends a plague on the Achaeans camp. Many die from the plague, so Agamemnon turns to the prophet
Calchas to determine the cause of the plague and learns that Chryseis is the cause, so he gives her up
and demands Achilles war prize, Briseis. Furious Achilles returns to his tent and refuses to fight the
war and instead wants to take revenge against Agamemnon.

Taler s Adventure
Once upon a time, there was a tiger named Taler who lived in the Jungle of Mystery. The Jungle of
Mystery has flowers of many colors. Taler really liked the blue flowers that grew alongside the cliff.
That cliff looked over the waterfall. Her sister, Tara, said, Now Taler, do not go near that cliff. Taler
heard what her sister said, but she did it anyway, and everyday Taler would get closer and closer to the
edge of the cliff. Now Taler, do not go near that cliff! Tara had said once more. The next day was Tara
s birthday and Taler wanted to give her a flower that grew a little bit below the top of the cliff. She
reached and reached for the flower, but could not get to it. So, later in the day when ... Show more

It belongs to the elephants who helped build this land. So, go away and leave us alone! Oh, so the little
pip squeak can speak. How about that, said Leo. Beau spoke up, Hey that s not nice! Pick on someone
your own size! Then Peter stepped up and roared really loud from behind the bushes and scared Leo.
It scared Leo so bad he ran away in fear. Later that day, the four animals were hungry so they went to
Peter s home to eat. As they were walking to Peter s house, they saw Leo had gotten his paw stuck in a
snake hole and could not get it out. Peter, Mila, and Beau wanted to leave him there because of how
he treated them, but Taler didn t want to. Come on guys, let s help him. Even though he was mean, he
needs help and it won t hurt us to help him, said Taler. They all gave in and said Okay, let s help him,
After they helped Leo he was so grateful and promised to never be mean to them or anyone ever
again. Taler told Leo how she had gotten to the Forest of Wonder and told him that she is from the
Jungle of Mystery. Leo said that he knew how to get there from here. Then, the five animals walked
back to the Jungle of Mystery together and they found Tara. Taler was so happy that she got back to

The Environmental Lobby and Voting Trends in the United States
The environmental movement in the United States has typically focused its resources on public
education, legislative lobbying and litigation. However, the movement s success in the latter two is
highly dependent on the quality and character of elected officials. Successful public education on
behalf of the environment translates into greater environmentalist electoral success.
This paper discusses national trends that impact and influence the environmental lobby s ability to
achieve favorable electoral results, and the manner in which the lobby has responded to those trends.
Overall, the American public is receptive to environmentalism, but the political realm is ... Show more

From 1988 to 1992 40 50% of strong Republicans supported increased federal spending on the
environment, while the vast majority of the remaining strong Republicans supported the status quo.
After 1994, independent leaning Republicans and weak Republicans increased their support for
decreased environmental spending by roughly 10 percentage points each, bringing each group to 12
13% support for decreased spending. Strong Republicans, however, moved from about 2 8% to
roughly 23% support for decreased environmental spending. Again, these changes indicate the highly
partisan nature of support for decreased environmental spending. The Republican Revolution of 1994
brought a much more Conservative flavor to the Republican Party. Strong Republicans would be more
likely to toe the party line on issues like environmental spending, and post 1994, the Republican Party
line was arguably more anti environmentalist. This willingness among strong Republicans to carry the
party line on environmental issues may be partly responsible for the widening gap between some
groups of traditional Republicans.
Republicans showed their strongest support for environmental spending in 1988, the year after
President Reagan signed the Montreal Protocol. Here again, a sign that strong Republicans may be
following party cues more than individual preferences on environmental issues. The nation as a whole
was more supportive of environmental spending in 1988 than in most years, but even strong

The Wife s Husband And Texas V. Johnson Majority
ACCEPTANCE, Ourselves and Others, A Reflection When wanting to talk to someone about how

Having read and thought about What of This Goldfish Would You Wish? by Etgar Keret, The Wife s
Husband by Ursula K. Le Guin, and Texas v. Johnson Majority Court Opinion by William J. Brennan,
I will show how each story deals with acceptance in how characters are connected, how discrimination
is used, and how each author approaches the subject. The way the characters connect between the
three stories is something to examine. Each of the main characters is beleaguered and in some turmoil
as each tries to solve the problem. In What of This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sergi, in What of This Goldfish..., holds the goldfish for many reasons: education, control, company,
and the last wish. Readers start to see that Sergei didn t realize how sad the enslaved fish was. The
discrimination here was very present because the character was a fish forced to live in a little glass
bowl (Keret 3). This is discrimination at its greatest. The next story, The Wife s Husband, shows
discrimination at the end of the story. When the husband starts to turn back into a human, the wife tells
how she and her children were sickened by his smell. As he transformed into a man, the wife went into
a crazed howl which woke up her children, and her sister. They were so frightened they didn t really
know what to do. They didn t see that husband/father was not going to hurt them. They used their
prejudice against humans to cloud their judgment. Consequently, they came charging after him and he
grabbed a branch as self defense. The husband was not able to talk with them in his human form, and
was killed by the wife s sister (Le Guin). Now, let s examine the text in Texas v. Johnson Majority
Court Opinion by William J. Brennan. It was nice to see that the justices took the time to see all sides
of the situation. They also looked into how their decision would affect the USA in the future. Instead
of just tossing Johnson into prison for burning a flag in protest, the justices stated the

Individualism In Rocket Boys And The Glass Castle
Individualism. Like all memoirs and novels, Rocket Boys and The Glass Castle present a lesson that
one may choose to live by. In this case, individualism is an evident factor that relates to both Jeannette
s and Sonny s stories. That is, both protagonists displayed the idea of disregarding their father s wishes
for their future and just going for their own.
In The Glass Castle, despite her father s hope to raise Jeannette until he felt he was ready to let go,
Jeannette made a life changing decision to settle in New York City. There she was able to live her own
life away from the constant bickering between her parents. Before then, Jeannette was indeed showing
signs of being independent such as constructing her own set of braces (Walls 201). However, it wasn t
until she physically moved out that it was clear she had become her own person. For example, the day
Jeannette had presented her father with a Christmas present. As her mom had plainly pointed out, You

Essay On Black Religion
The dark tint represents the large population of Africans in Africa before the Europeans came. Some
estimate that without slavery the population of Africa would have been double the 25m it had reached
by 1850 (BBC). Before Europeans invaded Africa, Africa had a population of 25 million people. The
large population helped Africa maintain strong kingdoms such as Axum and Mali.
The black color of the Supra represents the variety of traditional religions that different African groups
worshipped. The color black can represent all different religions since the mix of all colors make
black, therefore black can represent a mixture of many religions that different Africans practiced. The
first opinion is that there are several African Religions. The reason given is that these religions are
tribal / clan based and therefore there are as many religions as there are tribes / clans (African

The Great Train Robbery And Edwin Porter
In this essay I will be discussing five key points throughout Post Production history between the 1900s
1960s. Post Production is seen as a vital component in the cinematic industry as it essentially finalises
the final products. Techniques that have been developed over the years are incredibly important, but
they all have an origin. Although these techniques started out without overwhelming effect, they are
now unbelievably crucial to how films are constructed. The five points I wish to discuss go as follows:
The Great Train Robbery and Edwin Porter himself, D.W. Griffith and his overwhelming influence on
editing, The Jazz Singer, the Kuleshov Effect and finally, 2001: A Space Odyssey. As well as
discussing these key factors, this essay will take into consideration secondary material. In the early
years of post production, there was a distinct lack of editing within the film industry. Everything
filmed was for the most part one continuous shot and lacking too much creativity in the post
production region. Edwin Porter was one of the key founders that changed the way post production
was addressed. Although he originally filmed following what is referred to as Aristotelian construction
(Musser, 1991, p167) he began paying closer attention to how a story could be told more effectively
through visual representation. Edwin began straying away from Aristotelian construction and instead
opted to use cutting to help him create the story he wished to create. Whilst this was not an

A Critical Reflection Of Walmart
Practice makes perfect. We came into this project knowing we can improve from our first
presentation. We knew what areas we had to focus on this time around. We became more comfortable
around each other, allowing us to be more expressive without fearing judgment from each other, at
least in my point of view. At first, we were a little upset, since we did not want to do a presentation on
Walmart. Walmart had a negative connotation to them based on their business practices towards their
employees, which pushes me away from their company. Instead, we were hoping to base our project
on a sustainable company we, as college students, are closer to, such as New Belgium Brewing. It s
funny, but I believe that somewhat make us more close and unified to one another, being able to rally
around a common source of frustration. But in the end, we were good.
In this project we had to complete for our sustainable company, Walmart, we knew we were being
asked to create a creative presentation, to use our imagination to transform the classroom into another
world. Creativity is the generation, application, combination, and extension of new ideas. In the
context of groups and teams, creativity is inventing or creating a new idea, strategy, principle, or
approach to solving a problem (Beebe and Masterson 302). A technique we used to enhance our team
creativity was group brainstorming. Brainstorming is a creative problem solving method, developed

Making your penis higher is convenient with the advent of free penis workout routines. With out the
need for drugs, pumps, or other contraptions, any man can increase their penis measurement each in
length and girth. The first class part of all is that these are common penis enlargement workout
routines.
These are probably the most many penis growth approaches that should be evaded:
putting weights: whilst it is going to seem apparent to hang weights from your penis to stretch it, this
designated procedure is without problems too dicy and dangerous. One false transfer can burst blood

Pumps: prolonged use of pumps and equivalent contraptions can result in lengthy term and potentially
irreversible harm to the penis. What s extra, their effectiveness at enlarging the penis is still disputed.

The Art Scene Of Tucson, And All Over The World
Creativity and art is becoming such a rising normality in our everyday culture. A new mural with a
political statement is popping up every other week. A person visiting the local pizza joint downtown
can look up on the wall and see a piece of art with a price tag next to it. A local artist painted it and
where else to get public attention than Brooklyn Pizza, in the heart of buzzing downtown. The art
scene is growing quickly, and thanks to the creative means, so is the opportunity for aspiring artists.
Whether it be a political, personal, local, environmental, or just showing U of A pride, local murals
and art are popping up and displaying the creativity of fellow Tucsonans. Art in Tucson, and all over
the world, sets a name for the city, brings the people together and defines a culture. There s such a hub
of cultural exchange here, with Native Americans, Mexican Americans. There really is a lot going on
in the arts (Busler). Local and community art galleries have been around, and are on the rise; Murals,
too, are creating business interest, and create an outlet for creativity. Art shows and auctions get more
artists out into the world, as well as their inspirational pieces. This art scene is only going to grow, and
opportunity along with it. Culture is the puzzle piece in this scene. Cultural diversity is a social good
and the wellspring of free expression. Cultural equity means full inclusion, participation, and power
sharing in all of our communities and institutions

Understanding Of Cultural And Contextual Consideration Of...
Throughout the interactive orals, my understanding of cultural and contextual consideration of
Antigone by Sophocles has developed. You must receive further information about the playwright, the
role of women, and the symbols used in Antigone to have a full understanding of the play. Without the
knowledge provided from the interactive orals, the play would not have been understood as well as it
is now.
To understand the importance and meaning of Antigone, you must understand the playwright and his
purpose of writing the play. In his play, Sophocles illustrates the rival claims of the state and the
individual conscience. He does so by using the dramatic story of a young woman, Antigone, who
refuses to follow the law of her uncle, King Creon, on behalf of her brother s burial.
You must also understand the role of a woman during this time period to better understand this play.
Men were superior to women. Women were considered as the property of their husbands. This meant
women were expected to obey any and everything men said without questioning. This helps readers
understand why Antigone is going against her uncle s law to not bury her brother, which resulted in
such a punishment. Without this knowledge, the readers would not understand what caused all of the
conflict that resulted in the play.
To better understand Antigone, you must understand the symbols included in the play. Several very
significant symbols are represented by Antigone and Creon. These symbols are woman

Evidence Based Outcomes And Utilizing Findings
Evidence Based Outcomes and Utilizing Findings Evidenced based practice (EBP) is now considered
to be best practice but, although great strides have been made in applying the research in practice,
there is still progress to be made. EBP is central to delivering the highest quality healthcare and
ensuring the best outcomes for patients. However, EBP guiding the practice in healthcare systems is
not the norm in many healthcare systems across the United States (Melnyk Fineout Overholt, 2011).
The most overwhelming evidence for using EBP in practice is that is provides better outcomes in
patients and provides a higher quality of care. Therefore, patients are more satisfied, healthcare costs
are reduced and there is a reduction in differences in delivery of care according to geographic area
(Melnyk Fineout Overholt, 2011). Evidence based practice is defined by Polit and Beck (2012) as a
practice that involves making clinical decisions on the best available evidence which is usually from
disciplined research, while research utilization is using an aspect of a study for something else
unrelated to the original research. The two terms are sometimes used synonymously but there is a
distinct difference. In research utilization the emphasis is on translating the information into real word
applications. Evidence based practice (EBP) is broader than research utilization and incorporates
research findings with other factors (Polit Beck, 2012). Many factors work to either facilitate

The Importance Of Marching Band
What is Marching Band? Marching band is not what people think. It strains your body and takes a lot
of hard work. An example of a practice would be, when you get there you start out by getting into
stretch block. While you are in stretch block, You might feel like you get harassed and annoyed by the
leadership. Then after you do that you go and tune with your particular section. Then, you go back to
music warm up. Finally you to practice. The most popular quote you hear, is when the Band director
says one more time, it is not really one more time. Onto leadership.
There are many different leadership positions in band to make the band run smoothly. The positions
are: Drum major, Band Captain, Lieutenant, Brass/Woodwind Captain, Section Leader, and Librarian.
The Drum Major is responsible for conducting the Raider Regiment in all rehearsals and
performances. They oversee uniform inspections, keeps time during breaks and transition time, and
oversees cleanliness of facilities. They are the most important part of leadership. The band Captain
Oversees program operations and reports to the Band Director. The band captain supports Section
Captains in their responsibilities, they supervise events, reports damage to the Director, plans and
conducts student leadership meetings with Director oversight. They oversee program operations in the
absence of a full time Band Director. They basically would run the band if the Band direction left. The
lieutenant is the assistant

Guilt In Art Spiegelman s Maus
Being Jewish during the Holocaust must be terrifying. Overcoming all odds of being put into a ghetto
guarded by a Gestapo and being transferred into a concentration camp to be put into intense labor is
pure luck, but not for Vladek Spiegelman. In Art Spiegelman s Graphic Novel Maus, a comic book not
only about Vladek s first hand experience through the Holocaust but also a relationship of a father and
son. This relationship is an important narrative all through Maus, and this influences the feeling of
guilt. Two different kinds of guilt are presented in this book: a familial guilt, and the survivor s guilt.
In Maus, a specific relevance is a familial guilt that connects to the family. Artie s feeling of not being
a son to his father, which feeling guilty happens throughout in the book. In the first couple of chapters
of Maus: My Father Bleeds History, we see that Vladek and Artie don t get along. They both live close
together, yet they don t visit each other. When they speak to one another, their tone sound like an
argument is about to break out. Arguments is an often occurrence, for instance, Artie s cigarette ashes

Dating and Marriage in Japan Essay
Japan Dating Marriage Customs Project
Love is in the air. Although this may sound like a cliche it is true. Love is prevalent in every society all
around the world. The feelings associated with love may be the same all over, but how love is
approached can vary. Dating and marriage customs are different from country to country; Japan, in
particular has very unique dating and marriage procedures. Japan is a located in Southeastern Asia.
The Japanese tend to share some very different ideas concerning dating and marriage. However, some
of our beliefs and morals have spread into the culture of the Japanese. Nevertheless, Japan holds
strong to their roots and their unique culture. Similarly, we tend to narrow our beliefs on their ideas as

In general, a Japanese person will live with their parents until they are officially married, this also
means during the dating process. This is different from the more western tradition of moving in once
the relationship is getting serious. The Japanese refrain from moving in with each other to prevent the
couple from having sex before they are married. However, this doesn t prevent sexual activity during
the relationship. The couple could go to love hotels, karaoke booths, the backs of cars, and public
parks. This isn t a taboo topic, but it isn t openly discussed either. Japanese people also stay with their
parents until marriage to motivate themselves to get married at some point in their lives, rather than
live with their parents for the rest of their days. Additionally, if one lives with their parents for too
long and the parents are not okay with this, the parents will then resort to marrying off the child.
Although arranged marries aren t the tradition anymore, it is used as a last resort. But, a child can have
an arranged all together. In the previous generations arranged marriages were the custom thing to
have, but the recent generation has progressed, and it is now accepted to date around and pick a
spouse. In Japan, there are not just certain ways are done, there s the way things are supposed to be
done. Thus, culture is culture, and formalities are formalities. Their

Watchmen Themes
Even though Watchmen takes place in an alternate Cold War setting, the themes remain relevant for
today s society. We do not have any superheroes to help combat wars and so, the world is in the hands
of flawed humans, just as it was in the novel; world leaders are subject to societal pressures and thus
commit erroneous judgements in times of stress. Oftentimes, there are situations where the clashing
ideologies of individuals create rising tensions, such as with the Palestine conflict between the Israelis
and Palestinians, which can be paralleled to the situation of the heroes in the novel. Furthermore, it is
difficult to judge which beliefs assert the most proper morals because each individual is subject to
their own opinions. Watchmen also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This theme, although normally presented by non human characters in science fiction such as Doctor
Manhattan, remains relevant as humans progress because we are increasingly researching non human
fields like aliens and cyborgs, blurring the line between the human and the non human. As technology
advances and fiction becomes reality, it is completely possible for the government to gain a hold of a
powerful weapon like Manhattan, giving them strategic advantage in times of war. Nevertheless, we
are still human and face our own ideological and moral battles. Moore s intentions with Watchmen
were to make the readers take a step back from reality and evaluate whether our contentious efforts
will be worthwhile. He purposefully includes flawed characters because he knows that humanity is not
perfect either, but we still face the similar issues to that of the Watchmen. It is an approach to reality as
a web of co incidence and chance in which the reader can identify with the characters and their actions
(Barber). Although comic books today feature superheroes battling present day conflicts, they are not
realistic because even the heroes that are completely human do not possess the fundamentals of man.
Heroes, like Batman, have an unbreakable will despite the trauma they go through (Wu). In this way,
Watchmen s appeal comes from the exposure of the normality of human imperfections; however, we

The Journey Of Marco Polo
There were many explorers and merchants from the Renaissance, but only one stood out: Marco Polo.
He was most famous for his travels to Asia from Italy, where he grew up. He was known among his
people for his stories, and many believed that his adventures weren t true. He met many people in
Asia, one of the most important person being Kublai Khan, the Khagan of the Mongol Empire at that
time. Later, Polo was captured and taken to a prison, where he wrote his first book. Basically, Marco
Polo was an explorer that went through many adventures.
Marco Polo was born in Venice, Italy on September 15, 1254. His father was Niccolò Polo and mother
was Nicole Anna Defuseh. He was born to a wealthy Venetian merchant family, but his mother died
when he was young, so young Marco was raised by his extended family. He was raised by his
extended family because his father and uncle, Maffeo Polo, successful jewel merchants, were in Asia
on a trading expedition for most of his childhood.
After Marco s father and uncle came back, they set out for Asia again, but this time they brought
Marco with them. The Polos journey was challenging and took place on land. But through it all,
Marco enjoyed the adventure. His later memory for the places and cultures he saw was exceptional.
After four long years, the Polos reached China and Kublai Khan, who was staying at his summer
palace known as Xanadu, a grand marble architectural wonder that dazzled young Marco. They

At the beginning of the novel, Miss Skeeter is utterly ambivalent. She isn t sure whether to blend in

for Miss Skeeter to make such a bold move. She went from being too scared to even contradict Hilly
in private to having the audacity to pull off such a risky stunt without a second thought. Standing up to
Hilly at the benefit gave her the final confidence boost she needed. By the time that she printed it, she

Law Enforcement Lessons Learned Essay
One of the the best lessons learned from history for today s practice of law enforcement intelligence is
the necessity of obeying the law and procedures as in addition to corruption and a lack of incentive to
do things by the book many officers lacked the wherewithal to make a difference in their jurisdiction.
After much public outcry we are now able rely more on today s law enforcement as they are placed
under strict management and are regularly evaluated to ensure consistency and reduce bias from the
system. This leads into another lesson with involves respecting people s rights, with great power
comes great responsibility as they say, officers are often tasked to respond to calls for service, order
maintenance, etc. which involves many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another reason is improving methods of data collection, processing, and reporting, as in the past law
enforcement were trained to react to crime, so even if a the idea of regularly documenting all
information is brought up many officers lack the experience and the guidance to gather and process
the information that they find. Unfortunately it takes a string of tragedies that could have been
prevented through threat based intelligence prompt more security policies to be passed, but at least
now many law enforcement departments have more resources they use to guide them. Lastly is the
lesson about sharing intelligence, many law enforcement departments were hesitant to share classified
information as it would perhaps add likely so much more to their already stressful workload and the
possible repercussions of displaying evidence of misidentification and mismanagement. However in
the wake of past tragedies that resulted from the failure to provide the intelligence it had become more
apparent that it would be in everyone s best interest to open up more channels of communication.
While there are other lessons we can learn from history I feel that these are the four main ideas that
most people will agree that law enforcement should adhere

bearing exercises may cause, they are more focus on the controlled breathing and quality of
movements of the body instead of the boundaries (arms and legs), where the potential for injury is
greater. In difference with other forms of exercise, Pilates develops the midrange and gradually works
toward the endurance, while maintaining complete control around the joints. To the benefit of older
adults, Pilates teaches control and stability in a small range of motion, graduating to a larger range of
motion as they gain control and confidence. Pilates also help with a variety of age related weaknesses.
Arthritis sufferers benefit because the gentle mid range movements decrease the chance of joints
compressing while maintaining the range of motion around them. For sufferers of osteoporosis or
stenosis, Pilates can also help. For osteoporosis the simple and standing Pilates leg exercises may
increase bone density in both the spine and the hip.

Ancient River Valley Civilization
The river valley civilizations had many characteristics that were similar in every valley. Two of these
characteristics are rivers and natural barriers. These can either be advantages or disadvantages. These
advantages and disadvantages can shape how an empire forms, survives, and how long it lasts.
There are many advantages to forming civilizations in ancient river valleys. One of these advantages
was the rivers. The rivers provide irrigation for crops, and when they flood, they deposit fertile soil.
One example of this is Mesopotamia, which is Greek for land between the rivers . Mesopotamia is
also known as the Fertile Crescent, because of this fertile soil. Another one of these advantages was
natural barriers. Natural barriers protection from invaders. One example of this is India, in which the
civilization ended due to earthquakes. India had the Himalayas, the Thar Desert, and two bodies of
water, the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal.

The Role Of Suffering In The Little Mermaid
Hans Christian Andersen s story The Little Mermaid addresses many dark ideas that Disney s film The
Little Mermaid avoids. The avoidance of dark topics by Disney can be attributed to Disney targeting a
different audience as well as Disney wanting to keep a happily ever after on the story of Ariel. The
role of suffering in Andersen s stories is attributed to the desire of young girls for something in which
they should not or cannot have. This desire propels the characters in Andersen s stories to make
decisions that lead to them losing their own identity as well as their families. In Anderson s story The

Fear mongering is a tactic used to scare people away from what they do not understand whether it be
sexuality, religion or ideology. Fear mongering is intentionally used to arouse public fear about a topic
people do not understand. The age group targeted for this fairy tale would be pre teens and teens. The
fairy tale would start out with a group of rabbits talking to each other around a campfire and this group
of rabbits would be the main population in the story. Then, one rabbit by the name of Mr. Scared
Bunny would describe a giant rabbit to the other rabbits and the other rabbits do not know anything
about the giant rabbit, thus anything that the storytelling rabbit says about the giant rabbit is the only
information this group of rabbits has on the giant rabbit. The giant rabbit would be the protagonist in
the story because he is being targeted by Mr. Scared Bunny s incorrect facts and the giant rabbit is
really just the Easter bunny trying to overcome stereotypes generated by rabbits that do not know him.
During the fairy tale the rabbit will describe the giant rabbit as being dangerous to society and a
potential threat to their lives, if allowed to live peacefully and undisturbed amongst the normal rabbits.
However, the rabbit sharing details about the giant rabbit has no idea what the giant rabbit is actually
like. The result of the rabbit s tale of the giant rabbit thus, has created fearmongering amongst the
population of rabbits and they fear for their lives of a rabbit that they don t even know. The giant
rabbit ends up ostracized and sad because he has no friends and the other rabbits will not approach
him. At the end of the fairy tale the giant rabbit turns out to be the Easter bunny and the other rabbits
had no reason to fear. The fearmongering though, created an environment in which someone who was

Soft Body Caterpillar Robot More Efficient Than Current...
Adrian Hammer
Hypothesis:
Soft body caterpillar robot more efficient than current robots.
Topic:
To understand why the inspiration of the common caterpillar is used to create the next generation of
soft structure robots and what they will be used for once they are completed.
Description:
The caterpillar inspired robot is one of the first of its kind using a soft body to mimic that of its
inspired. This is one of the main major points of why I choose to pick this instead of any other biology
related topic simply because if it is the same size as a caterpillar it can be used in a vast majority of
different common day practices.
Relevance:
Since this a new improvement upon current robotic technology all its uses are currently unknown but
with the size of a caterpillar it can adapt to a variety of uses such as doctors. Currently doctors use
small cameras attached to a long wire to observe internals but now with this caterpillar it may be
possible to place this inside a body without the help of aesthetic in a few minutes instead of a lengthy
procedure.
Economically it can open up a variety of jobs in the robotics industry creating more work. This can
then be used to try new technologies, materials and replacing outdated technologies.
Ethically it can be used in a variety of medical practises. Just like stated above it can observe organs
and reduce surgery time. If someone had a blood clot inside them, instead of going into a lengthy
procedure of cutting someone open

Aristotle s definition of the soul is the substance in the sense which corresponds to the definitive
formula of a thing s essence. Aristotle thought that the soul is the Form of the body. The soul is
basically all of the operations of a human being. Aristotle believed that there are levels of living
things. He stated that plants only have a vegetative soul, animals are above plants because they have
senses and appetites, and humans are above animals because it has the power of reasoning and

He argues that because of this, there is growth, deterioration, and reproduction. Aristotle says that
plants only have this type of ability. To obtain this, it is important to have a soul. The next level is
sensation. Because of this quality, the feelings of pain and pleasure arises. Aristotle says that animals
have this quality. For a soul to have sensations, vegetation must be there as well. In other words, if
sensation is a characteristic of the soul, its vegetative ability is added as well. The next capacity that
can be developed is appetite, which is very much related to sensation. After the soul is able to feel,
there is a rush of desires. Some desires go along with what we physically need like thirst and hunger
and other desires that we do not need like emotions like anger. The next step is motion, which is
movement from place to place and rest. As said before, in order to have this ability, it is essential to
have the previous ones, building up on the soul. For motion to be possible, appetite, sensation and
vegetation must also be there. The last level is understanding; which Aristotle thinks is the most
unusual. This involves reasoning using thought and intelligence. In this category, humans would most
likely be found even though Aristotle states that some people are guided only by imagination and not
intelligence. Again, to have this quality, all of the characteristics stated before must be

try to get him to confess before it killed him. Giles Corey was not executed for refusing to name a
witness, as in the movie. The play is accurate: he was accused of witchcraft, and refused to enter a
plea, which held up the proceedings, since the law of the time required that the accused enter a plea.
He was pressed to death with stones, but the method was used to try to force him to enter a plea so that
his trial could proceed. Corey probably realized that if he was tried at all, he would be executed.

have had at least a similar experience to the character. I was basically more of a savage back in my
freshmen year of highschool. Although I was not a dropout like him I always got in trouble in school
and outside in public because I didn´t care. I would ditch, steal, drugs, hangout with other lil savages
like me and this is just recipe for disaster and had my run ins with the law. Ended up doing 6 months
probation with 60 hour community service. But drawing was always another side of me my peers did
not really know about and I enjoy really well. Its like you are working but it doesn t feel like it
because of all the joy you get out of it. A hobby that I do not get bored of just creating spectacular
ideas from my mind. This helped me because it made me question more about my life and what
adventures this subject can bring out of me. Instead of all the bad influence I was seeing and causing
earlier. It was like basically still continue the old life I was living or embrace a new journey with
creating art. I have found this to be very satisfying, like a form of addiction but in a good way. This

Abstract
Biological effects of Methamphetamines Methamphetamines affect the human body in a physical and
neurological and psychological way. The use of meth can lead to devastating effects to the nervous
system for example leaving the user with nervous ticks and body jerks similar to a person suffering
from Parkinson s disease. On a physical level, the user may show skin sores and tooth decay. Last but
the not least, the user may develop psychosis including hallucinations and paranoia. Not limited to the
self destruction a user will suffer, the family and/or loved ones will also suffer the effects of ... Show

By 1919, Japan started producing methamphetamine which was cheaper and more potent than
amphetamine. It was produced in a crystalline powder form and was able it to be dissolved in water,
making it easier for it to be injected. This form of amphetamine is still legally produced in the US and
is being sold under the name of Desoxyn. (Montgomery County Sheriff s Office, 2010, para. 1 3) The
abuse of methamphetamines in the United States seems to have started during the Great Depression
and increased during WWI, WWII, and Viet Nam. Many times, amphetamines were prescribed by the
government and the military to keep fighting soldiers going. After returning from their tour of duty,
many soldiers returned home addicted to the drug. Also during the 50 s and 60 s, amphetamines were
being used as a weight loss medication. But eventually began to be abused by the users. Today,
methamphetamines are abused throughout the US. It has spread like wildfire, starting on the West
Coast. Today, meth does not discriminate and will affect every race, culture, age, and socio economic
level. Meth users range from the most prestigious political figures, all star athletes, famous celebrities,
re known musicians, honest business men/women, respectable housewives/husbands, honor students,
to your street drug dealers and junkies. Many truck drivers and bikers are notorious for abusing meth.

  • 2. Galileo s Influence On Nicolaus Copernicus During the 16th and 17th centuries, a scientific revolution transpires which inevitably yields the basis of our modern scientific knowledge. This new vision in science has been examined by the use of sophisticated mathematics along with observations. One of the revolutionary discoveries is honored to the famed Polish astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus. He developed a heliocentric model of the universe. Prior to his time, an earth centered model, also known as the Ptolemaic model, was believed because it was simply common sense that the earth was motionless as the sun rises and set from east to west, respectively. Unlike Nicolaus Copernicus, his predecessors believed in geocentrism; the theory which Earth is the center of the universe, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, one would not dare to oppose the church s beliefs as it may result with consequences. Copernicus was well aware of this, therefore, he published his work shortly before his death. Additionally, his book was also banned. Later on, his book entitled De Revolutionibus Orbium Celestium, translated to On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres, has been an influential in our time. Although there was one scholar, after Copernicus s time, by the name of Galileo, who suffered a consequence appointed by the church. Galileo was permitted to write about new scientific theories because in his time, in 1623 Pope Urban VIII had an appreciation for such new discoveries. Galileo was able to support the heliocentric theory as he used the revolutionary instrument, the telescope, systematically. The observations he made explained that Copernicus is in fact right. Therefore, Galileo wrote a book entitled Two Chief Systems of the World in 1632, which he defends Copernicus theory and censures the Ptolemy s and Aristotle s model. Inevitably, the papal Inquisition placed Galileo on trial for heresy. He was punished for his writing, that was banned, and he was also put under house arrest until the day he ... • 3. The Relationship Between Constitutional And Physical Force... This analysis will look at how historians have attempted to explain the relationship between constitutional and physical force nationalism/republicanism. In the book Irish Peasants Violence and Political Unrest 1780 1914 editors Samuel Clark and James S. Donnelly Jr. suggest, in the opening paragraph, that poverty related rebellion in Ireland became commonplace during the late 18th and early 19th century that led to the ideas of a separatist republic. These events gave rise to, at first, a constitutional nationalist party called The Society of United Irishmen that sought parliamentary reform and to make this change they worked through parliament before later becoming an armed revolutionary group. Focusing on this time period and going on the writings of Clark and Donnelly it could be argued that the relationship between constitutional and physical force nationalism was, at this time, a unified one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perry Curtis Jr. in his article Moral and Physical Force: The Language of Violence in Irish Nationalism points out that constitutional and physical force nationalism existed side by side in Irish politics up until the Anglo Irish Treaty of 1921. It appears that for a substantial period in Ireland constitutional nationalism and physical force republicanism stood on equal ground until people had an opportunity for their own parliament and then the physical force tradition succumb to constitutional politics. Curtis also alludes to a point made earlier in this piece in how both nationalist traditions shared similar goals despite having different approaches to the issue of British rule. Curtis argues that the relationship between constitutional and physical force nationalism became bound in a close and complex way that had the effect of increasing both the strength of nationalism and the difficulties for Britain in dealing with the Irish Question. • 6. Vitamin B Pill Synthesis Lab Report Purpose In this laboratory, the mass of riboflavin in a vitamin B pill was determined by using the florescence spectrometry technique. Analytically Relevant Chemical Level Processes A photon of energy is, first, supplied by external light source. This creates an excited electronic singlet state. The excited state exists for only a finite time. During this amount of this extremely short amount of time, the fluorophore undergoes conformational changes while also being subject to a multitude of possible interactions with its molecular environment. This process caused the fluorophore to lose some energy. This yield a relaxed singlet excited state from which the fluorescence emission originates. A photon of energy is, then, emitted, turning the fluorophore back to its ground state. The energy of this photon is lower producing a longer wavelength. Instrumentation Procedure ... • 7. The Epic War By Homer The Iliad may be seen as an account of circumstances that really change the life of one man, Achilles, one of the greatest Achaeans warriors. The loyal war hero is the main character in the Iliad. It is his storyline that creates the essence of the epic war written by Homer. When the poem is first read it seems as though the main theme is about the dominance, gruesomeness, horror, and plain destruction of Troy, however this is not the main focus. We see Achilles transform from youth to adulthood and go through fundamental personality and character changes from a ferocious warrior in the beginning to a more reserved and hospitable man by the end of the poem. Nine years after the start of the Trojan War, the Achaeans attack Chryse, a small town allied with Troy. During the battle, the Achaeans capture two beautiful maidens, Chryseis and Briseis. Agamemnon, the forces leader, takes Chryseis as his prize, and Achilles claims Briseis. For their selfishness Apollo sends a plague on the Achaeans camp. Many die from the plague, so Agamemnon turns to the prophet Calchas to determine the cause of the plague and learns that Chryseis is the cause, so he gives her up and demands Achilles war prize, Briseis. Furious Achilles returns to his tent and refuses to fight the war and instead wants to take revenge against Agamemnon. Strong Republicans, however, moved from about 2 8% to roughly 23% support for decreased environmental spending. The Republican Revolution of 1994 brought a much more Conservative flavor to the Republican Party. Strong Republicans would be more likely to toe the party line on issues like environmental spending, and post 1994, the Republican Party line was arguably more anti environmentalist. This willingness among strong Republicans to carry the party line on environmental issues may be partly responsible for the widening gap between some groups of traditional Republicans. Republicans showed their strongest support for environmental spending in 1988, the year after President Reagan signed the Montreal Protocol. Readers start to see that Sergei didn t realize how sad the enslaved fish was. The discrimination here was very present because the character was a fish forced to live in a little glass bowl (Keret 3). This is discrimination at its greatest. The next story, The Wife s Husband, shows discrimination at the end of the story. When the husband starts to turn back into a human, the wife tells how she and her children were sickened by his smell. As he transformed into a man, the wife went into a crazed howl which woke up her children, and her sister. They were so frightened they didn t really know what to do. They didn t see that husband/father was not going to hurt them. They used their prejudice against humans to cloud their judgment. Consequently, they came charging after him and he grabbed a branch as self defense. The husband was not able to talk with them in his human form, and was killed by the wife s sister (Le Guin). Now, let s examine the text in Texas v. Johnson Majority Court Opinion by William J. Brennan. It was nice to see that the justices took the time to see all sides of the situation. • 16. The Great Train Robbery And Edwin Porter In this essay I will be discussing five key points throughout Post Production history between the 1900s 1960s. Post Production is seen as a vital component in the cinematic industry as it essentially finalises the final products. Techniques that have been developed over the years are incredibly important, but they all have an origin. Although these techniques started out without overwhelming effect, they are now unbelievably crucial to how films are constructed. The five points I wish to discuss go as follows: The Great Train Robbery and Edwin Porter himself, D.W. Griffith and his overwhelming influence on editing, The Jazz Singer, the Kuleshov Effect and finally, 2001: A Space Odyssey. As well as discussing these key factors, this essay will take into consideration secondary material. In the early years of post production, there was a distinct lack of editing within the film industry. Everything filmed was for the most part one continuous shot and lacking too much creativity in the post production region. Edwin Porter was one of the key founders that changed the way post production was addressed. Although he originally filmed following what is referred to as Aristotelian construction (Musser, 1991, p167) he began paying closer attention to how a story could be told more effectively through visual representation. Edwin began straying away from Aristotelian construction and instead opted to use cutting to help him create the story he wished to create. Whilst this was not an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

You must receive further information about the playwright, the role of women, and the symbols used in Antigone to have a full understanding of the play. Without the knowledge provided from the interactive orals, the play would not have been understood as well as it is now. To understand the importance and meaning of Antigone, you must understand the playwright and his purpose of writing the play. In his play, Sophocles illustrates the rival claims of the state and the individual conscience. He does so by using the dramatic story of a young woman, Antigone, who refuses to follow the law of her uncle, King Creon, on behalf of her brother s burial. You must also understand the role of a woman during this time period to better understand this play. Men were superior to women. Women were considered as the property of their husbands. This meant women were expected to obey any and everything men said without questioning. Evidence Based Outcomes And Utilizing Findings Evidence Based Outcomes and Utilizing Findings Evidenced based practice (EBP) is now considered to be best practice but, although great strides have been made in applying the research in practice, there is still progress to be made. EBP is central to delivering the highest quality healthcare and ensuring the best outcomes for patients. However, EBP guiding the practice in healthcare systems is not the norm in many healthcare systems across the United States (Melnyk Fineout Overholt, 2011). The most overwhelming evidence for using EBP in practice is that is provides better outcomes in patients and provides a higher quality of care. Therefore, patients are more satisfied, healthcare costs are reduced and there is a reduction in differences in delivery of care according to geographic area (Melnyk Fineout Overholt, 2011). Evidence based practice is defined by Polit and Beck (2012) as a practice that involves making clinical decisions on the best available evidence which is usually from disciplined research, while research utilization is using an aspect of a study for something else unrelated to the original research. The two terms are sometimes used synonymously but there is a distinct difference. In research utilization the emphasis is on translating the information into real word applications. Oftentimes, there are situations where the clashing ideologies of individuals create rising tensions, such as with the Palestine conflict between the Israelis and Palestinians, which can be paralleled to the situation of the heroes in the novel. This theme, although normally presented by non human characters in science fiction such as Doctor Manhattan, remains relevant as humans progress because we are increasingly researching non human fields like aliens and cyborgs, blurring the line between the human and the non human. As technology advances and fiction becomes reality, it is completely possible for the government to gain a hold of a powerful weapon like Manhattan, giving them strategic advantage in times of war. Nevertheless, we are still human and face our own ideological and moral battles. Moore s intentions with Watchmen were to make the readers take a step back from reality and evaluate whether our contentious efforts will be worthwhile. He purposefully includes flawed characters because he knows that humanity is not perfect either, but we still face the similar issues to that of the Watchmen. It is an approach to reality as a web of co incidence and chance in which the reader can identify with the characters and their actions (Barber). Although comic books today feature superheroes battling present day conflicts, they are not realistic because even the heroes that are completely human do not possess the fundamentals of man. Heroes, like Batman, have an unbreakable will despite the trauma they go through (Wu). In this way, Watchmen s appeal comes from the exposure of the normality of human imperfections; however, we ... For a soul to have sensations, vegetation must be there as well. In other words, if sensation is a characteristic of the soul, its vegetative ability is added as well. The next capacity that can be developed is appetite, which is very much related to sensation. After the soul is able to feel, there is a rush of desires.
