The Principles Of Convergence For Students
Conceptual Framework
A review of the research has allowed for a tentative conceptual framework consisting of six principles
of convergence for students. The first five principles are (1) Purpose (or meaning); (2) Ethics/values;
(3) Relationships with followers; (4) Interest in service; and (5) Spiritual self awareness. The sixth is
not a distinct characteristic as much as an underlying support for the other five, and an all
encompassing motivation for leadership: (6) love.
Having a purpose, or meaning, refers to the reason for engaging in leadership, and its end goals. It is
not an individual pursuit; rather, it encompasses a shared or socialized vision (HERI, 1996). Moreover,
purpose is not value neutral; it exists to bring about positive social change (Komives et al., 2007) or
continuous improvement (Fairholm, 1997). Purpose provides a motivation and a direction for
leadership. Closely related to this understanding of purpose is ethics.
Ethics can be loosely defined as doing the right thing. Leadership should support positive change
(Burns, 1978; HERI, 1996), seek the integrity of intention and action (Avolio Gardner, 2005), be
driven by values (Komives et al., 2007), and moral standards (Fairholm, 1997). A knowledge of ethics
roots leadership practice in a set of ground rules that includes honesty, fair practice, and a desire to
seek betterment and continuous improvement for followers.
The third area, relationships with followers, refers to the understanding that

Various more dictator strains of thought have additionally been powerful, for example, Legalism.
There was regularly strife between the theories, e.g. the Song Dynasty Neo Confucians trusted
Legalism left from the first soul of Confucianism. Examinations and a culture of legitimacy remain
incredibly esteemed in China today. As of late, various New Confucians (not to be mistaken (Shirk,

very perfect with customary Confucian Asian qualities . With the ascent of European financial and
military power starting in the mid nineteenth century, non Chinese frameworks of social and political
association picked up followers in China. Some of these eventual reformers completely rejected China
s social legacy, while others tried to join the qualities of Chinese and European societies.
Fundamentally, the historical backdrop of twentieth century China is one of experimentation with new
frameworks of social, political, and monetary association that would take into consideration the
reintegration of the country in the wake of dynastic

A Brief Note On John Snow As A Surgeon And A Doctor
19th Century
John Snow was a qualified as a surgeon and a doctor in 1838. Dr Snow was interested in how cholera
spread through drinking water and observed that people who drank water and drank water from the
one company was most likely to come across this disease than the people who do not drink that
company s water. Dr Snow planned a map which he noted all the cases of cholera and then realised
that all the people who were ill were getting their water from the same and only pump, which it
supplied water that came from the sewage contained river Thames. People also used different pumps
to get water but did not get the infected. This is when Dr Snow established that was connection
between cholera and contaminated water. He identified all the aspects and also looked at the sources
of the infected water, and realised that all the contaminated water came from the broad street water
pump, so he went to the broad street water pump and took the handle of the pump and got rid of the
outbreak of cholera. (Stretch and Whitehouse 2010)

Essay about Private Property
The ideology behind what private property represents and conveys through the theories of both Locke
and Marx s results in contrasting views. Locke heavily stresses the blending of labor and common
land to create private property to increase one s wealth. Liberty and livelihood under Locke s theory is
tied to the ability of an individual to control the use of their private property. Marx s theory strongly
contends that the bourgeoisie has gained control of the profit making private properties leaving the
working class in a stage of exploitation. Marx s conclusion then is to set private property in the hands
of the people in hopes of creating universal economic equality. Respectively each thesis places
governments, labour and religion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marx s model of private property views it as means of production creating a division of labor. In his
theory, Marx takes a look and how private property, along with wealth, are funneled into the hands of
the few leaving the ordinary worker unable to gain wealth from private property. The outcome of
Marx s principle can be seen especially in the last 30 years in the US with the increase of inequality
and access to wealth to unprecedented numbers (USA 11).
When examining both theories about private property one cannot go without recognizing the
important role that labour plays. Locke who considers labour the cornerstone of man s ability to
provide upon himself and that the act itself is so important labour indeed that puts the difference of
value on every thing (MPT 297). Locke s belief that every man is born into the world with an equal
amount of capability with labour as the main variable determining success. Marx s writings take a
look at where private property comes from and who is the beneficiary of such a product. This is where
labour is introduced into his analyzes of private property and the concept of externalized labor, that is,
externalized man, alienated labor, alienated life and alienated man (MPT 771). Marx s theories look
into the exploitation of one social group, the proletarians, by the wealthy class, the bourgeois that is
now in the open due to the structure of capitalism. The workers eventually

Newsworthiness of Child Abuse Cases
Society is now what Downing, Mohammadi and Mohammadi (1990) would call a media culture , this
is where the perceptions and images of reality are often shaped by the actions and decisions of news
editors and producers (Surrette, 1992). The role of the media according to O Shaughnessy and Stadler
(2008) is to give the public an insight on what is happening in the world and to make sense of that
information to the public. The main focus of this essay will be looking two main concepts which are
newsworthiness and the dark figure of crime, relating 5 news articles that are centred around child
abuse that have featured in the New Zealand Herald and stuff.co.nz.
The media plays an important role in society by creating and shaping society s attitudes about most
current issues including child abuse. In New Zealand, as well as in the international media, the
physical abuse of a child regularly features in the newspapers, magazines, radio and television
(Merchant, 2010). When it comes to the public understanding of child abuse, this is influenced by the
knowledge that they gain through reading newspapers or mass media like the television or radio.
Kitzinger (2004) states that our individual view and sense of the world are a social construct and the
media are an important resource to help us construct that world view.
The way that child abuse is reported in the media has become what you would call entertainment
where there seems to be an incline towards dramatising child abuse in a

Spain and the Balkans came under a long period of Muslim rule as did Iran and the middle eastern
countries, which were completely subsumed. Indian culture showed remarkable vitality and survived.
Perhaps this was a positive aspect of the rigid codification of laws and the caste system. China and
Japan were geographically isolated and never faced large scale invasion from Islam, which anyway
spread in Indonesia , the Philippines and malaysis, with the waning of Indian power. East Asia was in
fact an important sphere of Indian cultural export, with the Srivijaya Empire, the Majpahit Empire and
so on ruling for long. Here as Indian power fragmented and declined. Islam and then European
commercialist colonialism stepped in. And yet much of Indian culture survived, in Indochina and
Indonesia among other places, and Bali is still Hindu. Indeed India did expand as a culture, via

In repetitive service operations, efficiencies can be gained by standardization. Standardization
increases the total quantity that can be produced from a single or limited amount of items. This also
tends to increase productivity because of less complexity of each job and because workers learn to do
their jobs more efficiently with increased repetition. CKC has a relatively simple menu and also
limited inventory space to carry numerous items anyhow, so the simple and limited menu allows for
some standardization. Also, as previously mentioned, CKC has five major separate work stations, each
repetitively performing its own task or process. These processes at each of these stations are
repeatable and therefore conducive to standardization. According to our book, the role of workers is
elevated in a lean system. Lean systems require a flexible workforce. Workers in flexible workforces
can be trained to perform more than one job. A primary benefit of this is that workers can be moved
from one workstation to another to help relieve bottlenecks should they arise. Also, if an employee is
out sick or on vacation, another employee can step in for them to keeps product flow moving. Uniform
flow is an important aspect of lean systems. CKC has 10 full time employees and all, except the
cooks, are flexible and can move from station to station if needed. Companies using lean systems

Demographic And Socio Economic Changes
Demographic and socio economic changes effect cities, its economy and ultimately the country as a
whole. Changes in demographics tells us if an area is losing or gaining population and may act
accordingly to help it survive. Family patterns change over a period of time as more women go out for
jobs rather than stay at home. As medical field advances, the life span of human increases and these
changes can show that the median age of the population is growing. Setting up of new industries or
business houses in a city might bring in the working population and help in improving the economic
condition of the area.
This report presents some of the demographic and socio economic data collected from American
Community Survey 1 Year Estimates for the years 2006, 2009 and 2012 w.r.t. 203 Metropolitan
Statistical Areas (MSA) in United States of America. These MSA have been selected as the most
populated MSA in USA for the year 2012.
The most populous MSA in USA included a few MSA from Puerto Rico and Alaska and was removed
to focus only on Mainland USA. It was also observed that most of the MSA when plotted on the map
of USA are in East USA (155 MSA). Montana and Wyoming did not have any MSA among these 203
MSA. For the purpose of this report, Microsoft Excel and Tableau where used to store, clean and plot
the data. Summary Tables for the parameters which were selected to compare these MSA are

What Is The Source Of Injustice In The Prince And The Pauper
In The Prince and the Pauper the main source of injustice is from the monarchy that was controlled by
King Henry VIII during 15th century England. Tom Canty and Edward Tudor( the prince) trade cloths
and then released they looked very similar. They decided to trade places because they thought that
they each had what the other wanted. They were separated while Tom Canty was posing as prince the
king died and this put Tom Canty in power. The king has ruled a monarch based on the belief of divine
right. Divine right is when a blood line considered godly by a group of people therefore that blood line
can do what ever they want because God has given the there blessing. There are several characters that
rise above the limits of there society to change it for the better. Tom Canty is one of the best examples
of a character that rises above his society to better the people around him. The first example of this is
when he refuses to beg he is better for it by his father but begging is agent the law. When he is posing
as the king he pardons many people of crimes that they were unjustly charged with. He is also very
honest about knot being the king even though know one believes him. When the real king shows up he
gives him his title back. Toms honest and resilience are his main characteristics that help him rise

The Importance Of Community At A Young Age
Growing up in The Commune, as my friends called it, I learned a lot about the importance of
community at a young age. When I was seven years old I moved to Tierra Nueva Cohousing, a unique
intentional community of 26 households that my parents developed when they returned from their
Peace Corp work in Africa. Cohousing was designed to facilitate the development of strong
community bonds through regularly sharing meals with neighbors, cultivating a common garden,
making decisions through consensus, and caring for one another in times of need. One of the most
extraordinary experiences growing up in this environment was when the Cohousing community
members came together to care for me and my family after my little brother passed away from
complications of hypoplastic left heart syndrome. Our neighbors brought meals, provided childcare,
and served as an important source of emotional support that was vital for the healing of our family.
Coming from such a strong community built around interpersonal connections, supportive friendships,
and a common desire for positive change, I knew that wanted a career that shared these values, and
that is ultimately how I fell in love with Internal Medicine. However, I was initially drawn to
Medicine by the complex diagnostic, therapeutic, and social puzzles I encountered during my third
year Internal Medicine rotation. Working at both the San Francisco County Hospital and the UCSF
homeless clinic every case was just as challenging as it was

Role Of Political Parties In Government
Political parties are important in government because they bring people together who have common
ideas, develop policies that benefit people from common interest groups that support them, and
campaign for their candidate to get the people to vote for them. They are used to train and nominate
the leaders the people want into government office. The main purpose of a political party is to join
people together that have similar views on government issues. These people with common views for
the same party join interest groups, which help connect people to their government. They work to
influence who gets elected and by belonging to groups like this, you have more power as a citizen.

The American Revolutionary War ( 1775-1783 ) Essay
The American Revolutionary War (1775 1783), was a war between the Kingdom of Great Britain and
thirteen colonies on the North American continent. There was not a specific event that led to the
Revolutionary War. American colonies wanted full democratic rights, but the British only saw them as
colonies to be used and exploited. The British saw the colonies as economic entities that could pay for
their own defense. Many of the colonists would have been willing to pay for their own defense. With
the condition that they would have a voice when it came to making decisions. The British ignored the
colonies demands. As a result, the British developed the separate and unique American identity. Over
a ten year time period many colonists began to identify themselves as Americans. Once the American
identity was defined, The American Revolutionary War became inevitable. After America won its
independence from Great Britain, there was a need for unity among the new states. The needs for
unity lead to the creation of The Articles of Confederation. These Articles represent the first
constitutional agreement made between 13 American states. The Articles of confederation served as a
written document establishing the functions of the government and the United States. The purpose of
the Articles was to provide a general government of the 13 colonies that had won their freedom from
British rule and to bring unity of the new states. The Articles of Confederation basically implied that

Analysis Of R.tolkien And Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Inspiration is a word and an action which occurs frequently in literature. Sometimes it s strange what
can inspire someone, or how vastly different people can be inspired by the same thing. Equally
remarkable is how someone utilizes the inspiration compared to others and how inspiration can
bestow the drive that enables ordinary people to rise above and achieve the seemingly impossible.
Elias Lönnrot s Kalevala transcends being a simple story by inspiring not only the Finns, but writers
J.R.R.Tolkien and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow as well. They were highly influenced and made their
goals and overall actions realized through this inspiration. They all have, if anything, the Kalevala in
common and that is a thing of amazement, that a people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another threat that caused the Finn s oppression to spread was the lack of the Finns language being
written or used outside of Finland. Unlike its neighboring Nordic countries, the base of the Finnish
language is completely different, so instead of other countries learning the Finn s language, they
forced the Finns to learn and adopt theirs.
The Kalevala was originally an epic from older times, passed by word of mouth of the countrymen
deep inside the Finnish lands. When Lönrrot started to piece together the words of the Kalevala, he
also started to piece together Finland s identity. Without the Kalevala, it is highly unlikely the fight for
their independence would ve occurred or transpired with such ferocity. With each word and meter
written, the Finn s culture seemed to come alive. It gave a voice that the Finn s were dying to have
heard. (Cheek)
Finally the Finnish people had a voice that could and would not be silenced. This was their chance to
show that they were individuals. The Kalevala sparked a renaissance of writing and inspiration for the
Finns, not to mention showcasing its multiple interpretations from its original form as an epic.
(Alphonso) This showed how oral tradition and modern literature can blend to not only honor the past,
but also pioneer the future all the while remaining interesting and timelessly engaging for the present.
With the help of the Kalevala (Crawford), the Finn s realized what their language

Bacon s Rebellion Research Paper
In 1676, the English colony of Virginia experienced a revolt. This revolt, led by Nathaniel Bacon, was
backed largely by lower class, white farmers, and was directed towards both the rich landowning

However, when Chief Powhatan died in 1618, his brother, Opechancanough, immediately attacked the
colonists. The settlers then launched a counter attack, successfully pushing back the Native

Opechancanough eventually attacked again. In a matter of two days, 500 Virginians ended up dead.
The colonists captured the chief and killed him. The resulting treaty allowed the Native Americans to
have the unsettled wilderness to live on, as ong as they allowed the already settled land to belong fully
to the colonists. The Virginians were not happy with this; they needed that land for farming. At the
time, there was a surplus of past indentured servants that needed to start their own farms to make a
living. This was one reason for Bacon s Rebellion; many of these poor servants rallied behind

My Personal Worldview
In my personal opinion, a worldview consists of the sum total of an individual s perspectives on the
relationships between the sphere of their own personal experiences and the sphere of the variables of
the world which lie outside their own control. A worldview could be defined as an ideology or religion
in a narrow sense, but it encompasses more aspects of a person s relationships to the outside world
than a simple ideological path. My personal worldview is that the universe is very large and very
confusing. I am not partial to any explanation for our existence here on the earth, but I do not hold any
of these viewpoints to be superior or inferior to one another. I am agnostic, but I do not discount
Christianity or creationism as idiotic .

Essay On Beta Endorphins
I ve always been interested in how the brain processes things. Whether it s spending a sleepless night
trying to find the chemical way our body produces and stores memories, or trying to find out why ice
cream tastes good, I love the brain. When asked to find a research topic I wanted to do some sort of
hormone. I first chose endorphins, before realizing what a large group of hormones it was. I felt that
given its strong role in pain and mood management, understanding beta endorphins and the
mechanisms by which they worked would give me better insight into pain mechanisms and give me a
better understanding of how to mitigate pain in potential patients. While some of the information was
stuck behind medical journals with paywalls, I was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the body is subjected to stress or pain, the pituitary releases it into the bloodstream. The beta
endorphins bind to special receptors in located in the brain, spinal cord, immune system, and adrenal
glands. These receptors are known as opioid receptors and can be categorized as binding to several
different types of endorphin and opium derivative while being blocked by the chemical naloxone.
When bound to these receptors, they produce an inhibitory effect on the neural pathways for pain,
reducing the effect and perception of pain. When there is a high enough quantity in the body, this can
also cause a sensation colloquially known as runner s high . This is a euphoric state usually caused by
extreme exercise. I believe the natural glow and warm feeling that a woman has after childbirth can
also be contributed partially from the effect of beta endorphins on the body, as childbirth is one of the
most extreme things that can happy to a body. This hormone is also found in the body when we laugh,
during sex, eat spicy foods, listen to emotionally complex music, and in small amounts in the
bloodstream doing regulatory jobs. Independent of the pain reduction effects, Beta endorphins have an
interesting effect on other parts of our body

Diagnosing Problems Of Speech, Language Or Communication
Answer: Diagnosing problems in speech, language or communication is important to a childâ€TMs
development as it could affect their overall behaviour at school or home. If the problem is picked up
early enough then teachers, TAâ€TMs (teaching assistants) or Sencoâ€TMs can intervene. It could
affect ear school life as a child may not be able to socialise or make friends for fear that they will be
bullied or ostracised by other children. As a child grows older late diagnosis could affect their
academic abilities as well as feeling like a social outcast. A hearing impairment or speech impediment
may make it hard for a person to communicate; therefore it is crucial that other forms of
communication are established i.e. sign language, Makaton. If interventions and help are set in place
early enough then the person will receive the correct guidance and support. This allows agencies or
the people involved to ensure the child/young person is reaching their developmental targets and
promote positive results for their language and communication.
Question: Question 10
Answer: Multi agency teams work together to improve a childâ€TMs development. Initially a health
visitor or clinic would identify problems when a child is taken for check ups. Depending on the action
needed the child could be referred to a speech therapist such as SALT. If the child/young person was
of school age then the senco (special educational needs coordinator) would be well aware of the
problems and put

Formal Analysis of Raging Bull Essay
Formal Analysis of Raging Bull Martin Scorsese s film Raging Bull is considered by many to be one
of the greatest sports films of all time. The plot focuses on the professional and personal life of boxer
Jake LaMotta. In the opening sequence, the film uses narrative, mise en scene, cinematography,
editing, and sound to provide a framework for the rest of the picture. These elements also help to
establish the film s themes of nostalgia, isolation, loneliness, and suffering. In addition to setting up
the film s themes, these elements also help to create two distinct personas of the main character Jake
LaMotta. The narrative form exhibited in the opening sequence seems simple at first glance, but

Occasionally, the scene will be interrupted by the sudden appearance of flashbulbs penetrating the
smoky air. This not only lends a feeling of authenticity for the setting and time period, it also reflects
the sudden outbursts of violence prevalent throughout the rest of the film. LaMotta himself is
shrouded in his robe and shadows, making his face impossible to see, however his gloved fists are
easily seen as he gracefully throws jabs and stalks the left side of the ring. This introduces his fists as a
motif that is repeated throughout the film. For example, LaMotta sees his hands as being too small,
later he abuses them against a cell wall, and most obviously are a symbol of his livelihood. His fists
are a tool, which he uses to punish others, as well as himself. The scene cuts to a sign, in the middle of
the screen, that reads An Evening with Jake LaMotta and the audience hears the voice of LaMotta for
the first time, which will lead to the next scene. The use of the word evening signals the transition that
is about to take place. The audience has seen LaMotta early in his career and now are about to witness
him in his career s twilight. This short scene ends when a man crosses in front of the sign, creating a
swiping effect. Now, the third scene begins. The viewer is presented a medium shot of an older,
overweight, and sloppy LaMotta. Juxtaposing the composition of the opening scene where LaMotta is

Use Of Chemical Weapons In Chemical Warfare
The first actual use of a chemical weapon was in August 1914. The French utilized tear gas grenades
during an attack against the Germans. One of the more known use of a chemical weapon was at the
Second Battle of Ypres in April 1915. 160 tonnes of chlorine gas was released onto the French and
Algerian troops. This could be considered the starting point in chemical warfare as it was the first
large scale deployment of a chemical gas meant for harm. As more and more chemical weapons were
developed, more and more countries followed the trend.
The use of chlorine gas in trench warfare was first developed by Fritz Haber in 1914 as of help to the
German army. At the Second Battle of Ypres, about 6,000 cylinders filled with about 160 tonnes of
chlorine gas were opened and the gas made its way over to the French and Algerian lines. At first, the
French thought it was a smoke screen and that the Germans were advancing towards them, but they
were wrong. It was chlorine gas which would damage their respiratory organs and cause violent
choking attacks. Back on the German lines, barely anybody expected this assault to be so successful
and were not prepared to advance onto the French and Algerian lines while their troops were amidst
panic and fear caused by the chlorine gas. Despite their unpreparedness, the Germans still advanced,
but with a lack of self assurance and confidence. Before this attack, Fritz Haber was not supported
very much, but seeing as how

The Color Of Skin, Past Ancestry, And Place Of Living
No matter how alike people may be, segregation is a way of living. As humans we typically find
ourselves separated into groups that we can identify with; from being athletic, to being artistic and
even a person s religion. Another path to separation taken by many is by a person s race. One s race
can be described in a variety of ways; color of the skin, past ancestry, and place of origin.
Discrimination is normally placed with race; this can either be a privilege or a disadvantage.
A race can be described as a group of people identified as distinct from other groups because of
supposed physical or genetic traits shared by the group. The color of one s skin is the identifier that
most of us use to distinguish ones race. The color of skin can reveal a lot about a person. It can tell
about their origin. People in Northern Europe or Japan tend to have lighter skin than people whose
ancestors are from sub Saharan Africa or Australia because the difference in sun exposure. The more
exposed ones skin is to the sun the darker it gets, along with the less exposed to the sun the lighter the
skin. Ethnicity and race are uniquely tied together; they are however two separate concepts. Race has
more to do with where a person originates while ethnicity has to do with one s culture. Culture can be
seen as a group of people s traditions, customs or beliefs. Generally, with in separate cultures, the
races of the people in the group are the same, not always though. Consequently, most

EuripidesMedea, Hippolytus, And Electra
The Minds of Euripides s Creations Upon a first inspection of Euripides s Medea, Hippolytus, and
Electra, women were depicted as a vicious brood for the only purpose of bringing men to their ruin.
However, this was not the case at all. Euripides portrayed women as downtrodden individuals because
of the scorned love they had experienced. Love was the main factor in all of these plays. In addition,
Euripides presented how women were influenced by their emotions. Euripides s Medea characterized
a woman, Medea, who was driven by her anger at Jason s betrayal to perform atrocious acts. She was
grief stricken because Jason treated her like a harlot and broke her heart. She was stricken by the
sinful desire of revenge that she was even willing to murder her own children to make Jason pay for
his actions for marrying another woman (Medea 1 4). She felt betrayed by Jason because she
sacrificed everything familiar to her to journey across the vast seas to be with him (Medea 13 14).
Medea had a right to want revenge because she knew that Jason was cheating on her with another
woman. Jason attempted to justify his new marriage by pointing out that the only reason he was
marrying this other woman was to support his children and her in the best possible way (Medea 15
17). Jason s endeavors only added fuel to Medea s loathing. He claimed that all of his actions were
just, and Medea was only jealous because she was not copulating with him anymore. He was being

The Secret Of Japan s Success
Around sixty years ago the United States was the world leader in manufacturing. They led the frontier
in production after World War II when they converted all the facilities they had used to produce war
machines into factories for cars and other domestic products. However, in the past few decades a new
company has risen up and passed the United States on the leaderboard for most successful
manufacturing capabilities. Ironically, this company is Japan, the company whose economy was
completely destroyed by the United States during World War II. With its economy completely wiped
out, Japan had nothing to lose in trying out a new cost management strategy that was actually
designed by an American that had actually been laughed out of the United States for his ideas. Japan
gave this man s methods a shot, and they are now currently more profitable than the majority of
United States based companies. The secret to Japan s success lies in two areas, one being the way
Japan goes about cost management, and the second being how they train and manage their employees.
If the United States were to modify their business s to follow Japanese businesses in these two aspects
they would see much higher profitability. Unfortunately, they do not comprehend how these two
aspects create such a difference in profitability, which is why it is important to properly understand
that. The biggest problem in American businesses is that they do not understand that the company s

The 6th Millennium BC Bandkeramik Culture
After the last ice age, the European continent was transformed as climate warmed and sea levels rose.
Increased rainfall and warmer temperatures allowed communities to depend more on plant foods and
exploit their surroundings. Communities took advantage of new resources and grew in size and
complexity as hunter gatherers became farmers. Farming spread into Europe from Southwest Asia.
Both DNA analysis of European skeletal remains and domesticated plant and animal species confirm
that migration of farmers helped spread agriculture into Europe. The first farming settlements
mainland were established around 6500BC in east central Greece on settlement mounds. As
populations outgrew the lowland basins, communities moved to adjacent sites with ... Show more

their funnel necked beakers. Megalithic, or large stone, monuments are another characteristic of the
Neolithic transition. Stonehenge in southern Britain is one of the most famous. Chambered tombs also
became common containing the remains of hundreds of people. The Carnac area in southern Brittany
contains clusters of impressive monuments including stone rows and adjacent burial mounds. Many
axes that were found within these mounds have been compared using spectroradiometric analysis and

The Ohio Art Company s Business Practices Essay example
1) The main reason for Ohio Art Company s decision to move its production to china was simply to
stay in business. When asked if it was an ethical decision, you must look at the company as a whole
and not just the sake of their employees. Even though OAC does have moral obligations to its
employees, they also have moral obligations to there stakeholders as well. OAC s main goal was to
keep overall costs for its most popular product the Etch A Sketch under $10 or else lost money. On an

manager sees that firms from other nations are not following ethical norms in a host country then they
should not either. In this situation, one would think that since China has a bad reputation of violating
human rights and using cheap labor through sweatshops, then it would be okay for the OAC to do the

of the labor problems is if the company s executives have never done business or stepped foot into

Research on Density Essay
Density: Using Experimental Techniques to Solve an Inquiry based problem
ABSTRACT
The topic of this experiment is Density. The objective is to find two ways in which the density of a
given object can be determined, and to find out which of the two ways is more accurate and hence
better to use in such a case. The two methods used in this experiment are finding the dimensions of the
object and water displacement. These are two ways of finding the volume of an object, and they were
chosen since the density of an object may be found using its mass and its volume. The experiment
yielded two different density values, however when error analysis was conducted, the water
displacement method was proven to be more accurate.

Repeat measuring the mass of the object three (3) more times; ensuring that the balance is re zeroed
after each measurement. Tabulate data gathered. Procedure 2: Find the mass of the object given, as

yield an inaccurate reading. Get a clean 1000milliter beaker. Fill the beaker to approximately half its
capacity. Note the exact volume of water placed into the beaker. When reading the volume of the
water, ensure that this is done at eye level, and that it is read at the bottom of the meniscus. After
noting the initial volume of water, place the object carefully into the water. DO NOT SPLASH. Note
the final volume of water in the beaker. Tabulate data gathered.

Laser Hair Removal Research Paper
Over the past few decades there has been new developments in the Cosmetic industry. But, by being
so new to society how can we know about any risks about such new discoveries. One of the recent
developments, created in the last two decades, is the Laser Hair Removal Treatment. What is this new

What is Laser Hair Removal? Laser hair removal is a Cosmetic procedure that uses laser beams to
remove unwanted hair from the body. This basic principle behind this program is selective
photothermolysis which, in Greek, creates the words light, heat and destruction that describes the
process of the surgery. The machine creates a highly intensified light that passes through the skin and
targets the melanin (pigmentation) which absorbs the energy, damages the papilla, then heat is
conducted outwards to destroy the germ cells that are on the hair shaft while leaving the surrounding
tissue somewhat undamaged. The perfect time to perform this treatment is when the hair is going

Section 2 Section 1
According to Article II, Section 2, Clause I of the Constitution, the President of the United States is
commander in chief of the United States Armed Forces U.S. ranks have their roots in British military
traditions, with the President possessing ultimate authority, but no rank , maintaining a civilian status.
What this means in Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution, refers to the President as the commander
in chief of the army and navy of the United States. What the founders meant by this clause was that
once war was declared, it would then be the responsibility of the President, as the commander in chief,
to direct the war. As with European monarchies, the position of the American president as the nominal
head of the armed forces is deeply rooted in traditions going back centuries. However, there are
limitations on the authority of the President and what he can and cannot do, such as he can make the
decision on the amount of troops are on the ground and if and when the attack will began, but he
cannot start a war without Congressional approval. A Declaration of War must be passed by congress
before any war can began. This is a checks and balance system set up to keep one person from having

Recovering From A Serious Knee Injury
Recovering from a serious knee injury and returning to pre injury levels can be a difficult task to
overcome, but it has been proven possible to do this. Improper injury protocols and the injuries
themselves are two of the largest factors in professional athletes not having elongated and successful
careers. ACL, MCL, PCL, LCL, and Patellar Tendonitis are the most common knee injuries in which
athletes sustain. Sustaining a knee injury at the highest and most competitive levels of basketball can
make the injury and recovery process much more difficult and stressful, however. Depending on the
injury, it can take a very extended amount of time for the knee to return back to its normal functioning,
especially since damaging one part of the knee does not come without other injuries. A permanent and
career ending injury may be the result if the proper percussions are not taken throughout the recovery
process.

The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of the four main ligaments in the knee joint that connect it
to the shin bone (tibia) and thigh bone (femur). It s located deep within the joint, behind the kneecap

the knee and plays a role in keeping the knee stable during movement. Partial tears of the ACL can
occur, but are rare. Most ACL tears are either near completes or complete tears. After experiencing an

A knowledge of ethics roots leadership practice in a set of ground rules that includes honesty, fair practice, and a desire to seek betterment and continuous improvement for followers. The third area, relationships with followers, refers to the understanding that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Marx s theory strongly contends that the bourgeoisie has gained control of the profit making private properties leaving the working class in a stage of exploitation. Marx s conclusion then is to set private property in the hands of the people in hopes of creating universal economic equality. Respectively each thesis places governments, labour and religion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marx s model of private property views it as means of production creating a division of labor. In his theory, Marx takes a look and how private property, along with wealth, are funneled into the hands of the few leaving the ordinary worker unable to gain wealth from private property. The outcome of Marx s principle can be seen especially in the last 30 years in the US with the increase of inequality and access to wealth to unprecedented numbers (USA 11). When examining both theories about private property one cannot go without recognizing the important role that labour plays. Locke who considers labour the cornerstone of man s ability to provide upon himself and that the act itself is so important labour indeed that puts the difference of value on every thing (MPT 297). Locke s belief that every man is born into the world with an equal amount of capability with labour as the main variable determining success. Marx s writings take a look at where private property comes from and who is the beneficiary of such a product. This is where labour is introduced into his analyzes of private property and the concept of externalized labor, that is, externalized man, alienated labor, alienated life and alienated man (MPT 771). Marx s theories look into the exploitation of one social group, the proletarians, by the wealthy class, the bourgeois that is now in the open due to the structure of capitalism. • 6. Newsworthiness of Child Abuse Cases Society is now what Downing, Mohammadi and Mohammadi (1990) would call a media culture , this is where the perceptions and images of reality are often shaped by the actions and decisions of news editors and producers (Surrette, 1992). The role of the media according to O Shaughnessy and Stadler (2008) is to give the public an insight on what is happening in the world and to make sense of that information to the public. The main focus of this essay will be looking two main concepts which are newsworthiness and the dark figure of crime, relating 5 news articles that are centred around child abuse that have featured in the New Zealand Herald and stuff.co.nz. The media plays an important role in society by creating and shaping society s attitudes about most current issues including child abuse. In New Zealand, as well as in the international media, the physical abuse of a child regularly features in the newspapers, magazines, radio and television (Merchant, 2010). When it comes to the public understanding of child abuse, this is influenced by the knowledge that they gain through reading newspapers or mass media like the television or radio. Kitzinger (2004) states that our individual view and sense of the world are a social construct and the media are an important resource to help us construct that world view. The way that child abuse is reported in the media has become what you would call entertainment where there seems to be an incline towards dramatising child abuse in a ... This also tends to increase productivity because of less complexity of each job and because workers learn to do their jobs more efficiently with increased repetition. CKC has a relatively simple menu and also limited inventory space to carry numerous items anyhow, so the simple and limited menu allows for some standardization. Also, as previously mentioned, CKC has five major separate work stations, each repetitively performing its own task or process. These processes at each of these stations are repeatable and therefore conducive to standardization. According to our book, the role of workers is elevated in a lean system. Lean systems require a flexible workforce. Workers in flexible workforces can be trained to perform more than one job. A primary benefit of this is that workers can be moved from one workstation to another to help relieve bottlenecks should they arise. Also, if an employee is out sick or on vacation, another employee can step in for them to keeps product flow moving. Uniform flow is an important aspect of lean systems. When I was seven years old I moved to Tierra Nueva Cohousing, a unique intentional community of 26 households that my parents developed when they returned from their Peace Corp work in Africa. Cohousing was designed to facilitate the development of strong community bonds through regularly sharing meals with neighbors, cultivating a common garden, making decisions through consensus, and caring for one another in times of need. One of the most extraordinary experiences growing up in this environment was when the Cohousing community members came together to care for me and my family after my little brother passed away from complications of hypoplastic left heart syndrome. Our neighbors brought meals, provided childcare, and served as an important source of emotional support that was vital for the healing of our family. Coming from such a strong community built around interpersonal connections, supportive friendships, and a common desire for positive change, I knew that wanted a career that shared these values, and that is ultimately how I fell in love with Internal Medicine. There was not a specific event that led to the Revolutionary War. American colonies wanted full democratic rights, but the British only saw them as colonies to be used and exploited. The British saw the colonies as economic entities that could pay for their own defense. Many of the colonists would have been willing to pay for their own defense. With the condition that they would have a voice when it came to making decisions. The British ignored the colonies demands. As a result, the British developed the separate and unique American identity. Over a ten year time period many colonists began to identify themselves as Americans. Once the American identity was defined, The American Revolutionary War became inevitable. After America won its independence from Great Britain, there was a need for unity among the new states. The needs for unity lead to the creation of The Articles of Confederation. These Articles represent the first constitutional agreement made between 13 American states. The Articles of confederation served as a written document establishing the functions of the government and the United States. The Kalevala was originally an epic from older times, passed by word of mouth of the countrymen deep inside the Finnish lands. One of the more known use of a chemical weapon was at the Second Battle of Ypres in April 1915. 160 tonnes of chlorine gas was released onto the French and Algerian troops. This could be considered the starting point in chemical warfare as it was the first large scale deployment of a chemical gas meant for harm. As more and more chemical weapons were developed, more and more countries followed the trend. The use of chlorine gas in trench warfare was first developed by Fritz Haber in 1914 as of help to the German army. At the Second Battle of Ypres, about 6,000 cylinders filled with about 160 tonnes of chlorine gas were opened and the gas made its way over to the French and Algerian lines. At first, the French thought it was a smoke screen and that the Germans were advancing towards them, but they were wrong. It was chlorine gas which would damage their respiratory organs and cause violent choking attacks. Back on the German lines, barely anybody expected this assault to be so successful and were not prepared to advance onto the French and Algerian lines while their troops were amidst panic and fear caused by the chlorine gas. Despite their unpreparedness, the Germans still advanced, but with a lack of self assurance and confidence. Before this attack, Fritz Haber was not supported very much, but seeing as how ... As humans we typically find ourselves separated into groups that we can identify with; from being athletic, to being artistic and even a person s religion. Another path to separation taken by many is by a person s race. One s race can be described in a variety of ways; color of the skin, past ancestry, and place of origin. Discrimination is normally placed with race; this can either be a privilege or a disadvantage. A race can be described as a group of people identified as distinct from other groups because of supposed physical or genetic traits shared by the group. The color of one s skin is the identifier that most of us use to distinguish ones race. The color of skin can reveal a lot about a person. It can tell about their origin. • 28. EuripidesMedea, Hippolytus, And Electra The Minds of Euripides s Creations Upon a first inspection of Euripides s Medea, Hippolytus, and Electra, women were depicted as a vicious brood for the only purpose of bringing men to their ruin. However, this was not the case at all. Euripides portrayed women as downtrodden individuals because of the scorned love they had experienced. Love was the main factor in all of these plays. In addition, Euripides presented how women were influenced by their emotions. Euripides s Medea characterized a woman, Medea, who was driven by her anger at Jason s betrayal to perform atrocious acts. She was grief stricken because Jason treated her like a harlot and broke her heart. She was stricken by the sinful desire of revenge that she was even willing to murder her own children to make Jason pay for his actions for marrying another woman (Medea 1 4). She felt betrayed by Jason because she sacrificed everything familiar to her to journey across the vast seas to be with him (Medea 13 14). Medea had a right to want revenge because she knew that Jason was cheating on her with another woman. Jason attempted to justify his new marriage by pointing out that the only reason he was marrying this other woman was to support his children and her in the best possible way (Medea 15 17). Jason s endeavors only added fuel to Medea s loathing. He claimed that all of his actions were just, and Medea was only jealous because she was not copulating with him anymore. He was being rude in inferring that his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. The Secret Of Japan s Success Around sixty years ago the United States was the world leader in manufacturing. They led the frontier in production after World War II when they converted all the facilities they had used to produce war machines into factories for cars and other domestic products. However, in the past few decades a new company has risen up and passed the United States on the leaderboard for most successful manufacturing capabilities. Ironically, this company is Japan, the company whose economy was completely destroyed by the United States during World War II. With its economy completely wiped out, Japan had nothing to lose in trying out a new cost management strategy that was actually designed by an American that had actually been laughed out of the United States for his ideas. Japan gave this man s methods a shot, and they are now currently more profitable than the majority of United States based companies. The secret to Japan s success lies in two areas, one being the way Japan goes about cost management, and the second being how they train and manage their employees. If the United States were to modify their business s to follow Japanese businesses in these two aspects they would see much higher profitability. Unfortunately, they do not comprehend how these two aspects create such a difference in profitability, which is why it is important to properly understand that. The biggest problem in American businesses is that they do not understand that the company s long term financial ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Increased rainfall and warmer temperatures allowed communities to depend more on plant foods and exploit their surroundings. Communities took advantage of new resources and grew in size and complexity as hunter gatherers became farmers. Farming spread into Europe from Southwest Asia. Both DNA analysis of European skeletal remains and domesticated plant and animal species confirm that migration of farmers helped spread agriculture into Europe. • 31. The Ohio Art Company s Business Practices Essay example 1) The main reason for Ohio Art Company s decision to move its production to china was simply to stay in business. When asked if it was an ethical decision, you must look at the company as a whole and not just the sake of their employees. Even though OAC does have moral obligations to its employees, they also have moral obligations to there stakeholders as well. OAC s main goal was to keep overall costs for its most popular product the Etch A Sketch under $10 or else lost money. The second moralist view: The naïve immoralist states that if a manager sees that firms from other nations are not following ethical norms in a host country then they should not either. In this situation, one would think that since China has a bad reputation of violating human rights and using cheap labor through sweatshops, then it would be okay for the OAC to do the same, which is a very bad way of doing business. I think that OAC should make sure that their workers at Kin Ki are being taken care of in and out of the factory, if not then OAC should stop doing business with Kin Ki immediately and end their contract. 3) It is possible for executives from OAC as well as Mr. Killgallon to have no knowledge of labor problems at Kin Ki but it is very unlikely. The objective is to find two ways in which the density of a given object can be determined, and to find out which of the two ways is more accurate and hence better to use in such a case. The two methods used in this experiment are finding the dimensions of the object and water displacement. These are two ways of finding the volume of an object, and they were chosen since the density of an object may be found using its mass and its volume. The experiment yielded two different density values, however when error analysis was conducted, the water displacement method was proven to be more accurate. INTRODUCTION ... This basic principle behind this program is selective photothermolysis which, in Greek, creates the words light, heat and destruction that describes the process of the surgery. The machine creates a highly intensified light that passes through the skin and targets the melanin (pigmentation) which absorbs the energy, damages the papilla, then heat is conducted outwards to destroy the germ cells that are on the hair shaft while leaving the surrounding tissue somewhat undamaged. What this means in Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution, refers to the President as the commander in chief of the army and navy of the United States. What the founders meant by this clause was that once war was declared, it would then be the responsibility of the President, as the commander in chief, to direct the war. As with European monarchies, the position of the American president as the nominal head of the armed forces is deeply rooted in traditions going back centuries. However, there are limitations on the authority of the President and what he can and cannot do, such as he can make the decision on the amount of troops are on the ground and if and when the attack will began, but he cannot start a war without Congressional approval. Improper injury protocols and the injuries themselves are two of the largest factors in professional athletes not having elongated and successful careers. ACL, MCL, PCL, LCL, and Patellar Tendonitis are the most common knee injuries in which athletes sustain. Sustaining a knee injury at the highest and most competitive levels of basketball can make the injury and recovery process much more difficult and stressful, however. Depending on the injury, it can take a very extended amount of time for the knee to return back to its normal functioning, especially since damaging one part of the knee does not come without other injuries. A permanent and career ending injury may be the result if the proper percussions are not taken throughout the recovery process. Anterior cruciate ligament: The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of the four main ligaments in the knee joint that connect it to the shin bone (tibia) and thigh bone (femur). It s located deep within the joint, behind the kneecap (patella), above the shinbone, and below the thighbone.
